Taigen’s love confession NEEDS to come before he finds out Mizu is a woman.
Listen. I have given this a lot of thought and the more I think about it, the more I’m sure. When looking at Mizu and Mikio’s marriage, we can see how Mikio was in to the idea of a strong woman only so far as he was still stronger than her. This is clear when Mikio insists that he wants to “see all of [mizu]” and insists that they spar; Mikio doesn’t unsheath his blade even though Mizu tell him not to hold back. He assumes he is stronger than her and when this is proven false, like the beta bitch he is, he bails.
But with Taigen it’s different. Mizu and Taigen’s relationship has been a power struggle from the start. Taigen wasn’t introduced to Mizu as a woman or a wife. Taigen has always seen Mizu as a swordsman first. And when the hostility between the two starts to cool, it is because of their mutual admiration of the other’s skill. Mizu’s strength and boldness are what win Taigen over in the first place.
We also see a very important juxtapose between when Mizu pins Mikio to the ground and when she pins Taigen to the ground. In the first instance, Mikio pushes Mizu off him and calls her a monster. He feels put off and emasculated by being overpowered. In the Mizu/Taigen scene, however, once Mizu has Taigen pinned, he stares, awestruck, into Mizu’s eyes and gets a raging hard on. Instead of feeling emasculated, Taigen get so aroused that he has a full blown bi awakening.
So we know that Taigen is different to Mikio in that he is attracted to Mizu BECAUSE she can kick his ass, not in spite of it. But Mizu has been burned before. Badly. So if Taigen were to confess his feelings and tell Mizu that her strength is what he adores most about her, she’d be like, “right, sure, heard that one before.” And that’s why Taigen needs to confess his feelings BEFORE he finds out what’s in Mizu’s pants.
Tumblr media
In my daydreaming about a Migen love confession, I find myself reminded of this quote. How Mikio was like the exotic bird collector. He only liked the idea of Mizu knowing her way around a sword so long as at the end of the day, he can still put her back into the caged-in roll of the house wife.
Taigen is also guilty of this with Akemi. I sure there is still no small amount of attraction and love between them, but I think Taigen pursues Akemi mostly out of the personal fable he has written about himself; the poor fisherman’s son who raises himself up to be the star of his Dojo and then marries a princess. He might not have wanted to cage Akemi as much as other men would have, but he still sees her as the exotic bird. The prize. And thats why I can’t ship them.
But with Mizu it’s different. Taigen even admits that Mizu is a better fighter than him. He KNOWS he could never cage her and by the end on the first season he strops trying, opting to stand beside her instead of against her (“it’s your fight, so it’s mine” 😭) So when he does confess his feelings, he has to do is as one man to another and make it clear to Mizu that her strength is what he loves most and that he would never want her to be anything less then the superior swordsman she is.
Only then will Mizu have a chance of believing that Taigen wants to be with her, not to subdue her into a wifely role, but to stand beside her in all her greatness. If Taigen’s confession were to come after he finds out she’s a woman, Mizu might just think, “oh, NOW you want to be with me, cause you think just because I’m a woman I’ll eventually submit to you.” Mizu needs to know she is loved AS SHE IS.
Also, I just think it would be HILLARIOUS if Taigen confesses, and Mizu is like, “ well then….. I guess I should let you know…” and then Taigen spends the rest of the episode with his mind fucking BLOWN and complaining that he has spent the last several months coming to terms with the fact that he is attracted to another man only to find out the man he is attracted to is a woman! He goes through a whole bi awakening for nothing!

Mami Owns You
Rhea Ripley x Fem!Reader

PREFACE: After catching Reader flirting with a backstage staff member, Rhea takes it upon herself to remind Reader who she belongs to
A/N: It's about time I started writing about my wife
Tumblr media
After effortlessly pinning Raquel Rodriguez to the ground and finally winning the brutal match, the bells ring and the crowd goes wild.
Rhea and I have been hooking up on and off for a few months now and to say I was tired of the 'just friends' title would've been an understatement.
It was frustrating. She'd treat me like a girlfriend in every regard, besides actually calling me that. She would go on and on about how much she wanted me all to herself, then turn around and sleep with someone else.
In private, I was treated like a princess, but once we weren't, I was a complete stranger.
Was it fair? No, but...I couldn't really complain. After all, she is amazing in bed. Don't get me wrong, she's an incredible athlete, but she was just as skilled in the bedroom.
It also didn't hurt that she was also the hottest woman I've ever seen. From her beautiful porcelain skin to her brilliantly blue eyes and strong figure, I was foolish for thinking I wouldn't come running back for more.
So to see the champion herself walk out of the arena drenched in sweat and smiling from ear to ear, I was soaked.
She finally makes it backstage and Dom rushes into her ready arms.
"You crushed it!"
"Thank you, darling", she joked,
Before looking over and catching me eyeing her up from the snack table.
"I'll be back", she says,
Letting go off him and making her way over to where I was. She pretended to browse through the snacks, when in reality, she was side-eyeing the little skirt I threw on just for her.
"(Y/N)", she nonchalantly greeted,
"Rhea, didn't anyone ever tell you that staring was rude?", I teased,
"Well, when you look this good", she mumbled,
Staring right into my eyes.
It was just loud enough for me to hear and cause my cheeks to heat up. I hated how easily flustered me.
"Good enough to come over later?"
"Sorry, plans", she dismissed,
Before walking back over to Dom and getting her things packed. I couldn't help but roll my eyes.
Just as all hope was lost, one of the new backstage assistants walked in. That's when a delicious little plan presented itself on a silver platter.
"Hi", I greeted with a beaming smile.
I could tell he was shocked by the way his eyes widened.
"Hello, miss (Y/L/N)"
"Oh, please, there's no need for formalities, call me (Y/N)"
"Alright", chuckled nervously.
Poor guy. I knew it was wrong, but I had to do what I had to do.
"Are you one of the new assistants?"
"Yes"
"Oh, darn. Never mind", I baited,
About to walk off, when he stops me.
"Wait"
Before turning around, I notice Rhea occasionally glancing over at us, obviously tuning into the conversation.
"Why do you ask?", he questioned,
"Oh, well...I just thought you were really cute and wanted to ask if you were free tonight"
In that moment, Rhea's head whipped in our direction.
"Oh", he blushed,
"But, I understand it's unprofessional, so-"
"Well, technically, I'm just a temp, so, I don't really work here", he reassures,
"Really?", I faked my enthusiasm.
By this time, Rhea was already marching towards us.
"Well, then, would you like to get drinks with me?"
"I would love to-"
"She's busy", Rhea cuts the conversation short,
Grabbing my arm and hauling me out of the room.
"Not gonna happen", I hear Dom tell the assistant.
I couldn't help but bite back a smile, as she lead me all the way to the parking lot.
"I thought you had plans?"
"They're cancelled. Get in the car", she ordered,
Opening the passenger door for me. Even whilst livid, she was still a courteous. I take the seat and she slams the door shut. I was really in for a long night.
The car ride was silent and tense. Her hands gripped the wheel so hard, her knuckles turned paler than they already were.
Once we arrived at the house she was renting, I unbuckled my seatbelt and she opens my car door, dragging my by my wrist this time. As harsh as the grasp she had on my wrist was, it only added to the excitement.
The moment we reached inside, she pins me to the door by my throat.
"You think you're cute with the little stunt you pulled?"
"I don't know-" I struggled when she cuts me off,
"Do not...bullshit me", she warned,
Leaning in closer. Her breath ghosting against my bottom lip.
"You really think there's a person on earth that can make you feel as good as I do? Make you scream their name the way only I can?"
"No", I mumbled,
"No, what? Don't tell me you've forgotten your manners"
"No...Mami"
A wicked grin tugs her lips, before they crash against mine.
This kiss felt different. Like she had something to prove. It was filled with passion, fire and a desperation I'd never seen before.
Her free hand pulls me in closer, as she shoved a knee between my legs and pressed against my already pulsing core. I let out a soft gasp that causes her to pull away.
"Needy slut, aren't you? I just fucked you stupid earlier this morning and you still want more? You're as greedy as you are pathetic", she teased,
"Please, Mami, I need more!", I whined.
She lets go of my neck and grabs a fistful of my hair, yanking my head backwards.
"You'll get more when I think you've earned it"
Her words muffled against the skin of my throat.
She then takes me upstairs to her room and throws me against the edge of the bed. She's man-handled me before, but this was something else entirely.
"Stay", she ordered.
I sit myself on the foot of the bed, watching her tower over me.
"Clothes. Off"
I complied and began to strip. Unbeknownst to her, I'd forgone my underwear long before her match even started.
"Good girl, I see you are capable of following instructions"
I couldn't help but blush at her praise.
She then grabs me by the chin, forcing me to look back up at her.
"Keep your eyes on me. I want you take in every second of me destroying you"
I swallowed hard. It was only in that moment when the realization of what I'd done truly hit me. I was in real trouble this time.
She gets down on her knees and spreads my legs apart, just staring at my slick mess. I swore I heard her growl at the sight.
"I haven't even touched you yet and you're already this wet?"
"Y-Yes, Mami. Only for you", I stumbled over my words,
"Now, that's what I like to hear"
Not wanting to waste anymore time torturing me, she dives right in, licking up my wetness and making me cry out at the contact.
"You've always been so sweet"
Her voice vibrates against me.
My hand go to grab at the roots of her raven hair and she immediately pulls away to pin my hands on either side of me.
"Did I give you permission to touch me, whore?"
"I'm sorry-"
"You will be if you keep disobeying me, princess"
That god damn nickname and the things it does to me.
"Are you going to be good for me or not?"
"I will, Mami", I whined.
She smiles once more, before continuing her efforts on my bundle of nerves. Her skilled tongue rubbing firm circles over and over again.
I feel her fingers trace up and down my entrance, making my own grip the sheets beneath me. I was already growing restless and weaker.
Eventually, two digits slip into me with ease and I cry out in relief. As they pumped themselves in and out of me, she made sure to focus pressing on my sweet spot.
I could feel my walls begin to clench around her and she laughs.
"So soon? Pitiful. Good thing you won't cum till I say so"
I whimpered amidst my moans. She was reveling in my misery and I knew it. She began to pick up momentum and her strokes grew faster and harder.
My climax was just mere moments ahead and just as I was about to tumble over the edge, she pulls away, leaving me empty and breathless.
"Mami, please-"
"You're in no position to make any demands, darling. I'm in charge", she reminded,
Getting back on her feet.
She grabs my chin and shoved her fingers into my gapping mouth.
"Suck"
I do as she says, looking up into her mischievous eyes.
"Do you taste yourself?"
I nod.
She replaces her fingers and leans down to press her lips against mine. Her teeth tugging at my bottom lip and releasing it with a pop.
"Stay here"
She walks over to the closet and rummages through the clothes, till she takes out a black velvet box and makes her way back over to me.
"I think my brat's earned a treat"
She pulls the lid back and reveals a strap on. She's used one on me before, but this one was...much bigger.
"T-This won't fit"
"Aw, darling don't worry...I'll make it fit"
A chill ran up my spine in anticipation.
She reaches for the bottom of her shirt and yanks it off the top of her head, revealing her ample breasts. I let out a breathless sigh, desperately trying to hold on to the little bit of my sanity I had left.
"Like what you see?", she questions,
Grabbing my hands and making them squeeze her mounds. Her head falls back, as my thumbs worked on her hardening buds.
She releases my wrists and gets to unbuttoning her jeans, before pulling them down along with her underwear. It was now made apparent to me that she was enjoying this just as much as I was.
"Can I please taste you, Mami?", I pleaded,
"Well, since you asked so nicely"
I chewed at my bottom lip and licked all the way done her chiseled abdomen. My hands finding the small of her waist and holding onto each side, as her fingers intertwined themselves in my locks.
The moment I smelled her sweet scent, I could no longer hold myself back. I wanted to be good for her and I wanted to do it now.
I dip my head down and immediately wrap my lips around her sensitive clit, watching the woman before me slightly buckle at the sensation.
With each passing groan that fought its way out of her, I sped up my ministrations and just savored how good she looked. So lost in pleasure that she was already starting to sweat.
"Fuck!", she moaned out.
Once I notice her legs begin to shake, I slip my fingers into her warm cavern and press down on the spot that had her gripping onto my head for dear life, whilst cursing my name.
Within a few minutes of ramming my digits into her, she came undone, squeezing around them. Crying out like a wolf in heat, she pulls my head back to look down at my moist chin.
"So fucking good for me", she wiped off the glisten and sucked her thumb clean.
"On your hands and knees, love", she sighed,
Watching me get into her favorite position. All I could focus on was the sound of her stepping completely out of her pants and into the harness, before fastening it tight around her hips.
She then shuffles onto the bed, taking a hold of my waist with one hand and using the free one to rub the tip of the toy up and down my ready slit.
"Who owns this cunt?"
"You, Mami"
"That's right. Mami owns you"
And in one swift movement, she finally impales me, ripping a scream from the back of my throat.
The toy filling me to the hilt, as she wrapped the ends of my hair around her tight fist.
"There she is. My cute little fuck toy", she grunted between each hard thrust.
I was already seeing stars from how rough she was being with me. She wasn't exactly the gentle type, but this night was just primal. Pure carnal lust and nothing short of it.
The relentless pace of her hips slamming into me was brutal and quick, like she was chasing a high of her own.
I could only imagine just how much I pissed her off this time.
As her tip repeatedly pounded into my sweet spot, I found myself attempting to pull away, as it was all getting far too much far too soon.
But alas, my efforts fall in vain when she pulled me back up against her damp chest.
"Where do you think you're going, hm? Isn't this what you wanted? For me to fuck your brains out?", she taunted,
"T-Too much, Mami!"
"I don't care. Till I hear that safe word, I'll have my way with you and you're gonna like it", she licks at the shell of my ear,
Biting down on the lobe.
She gripped the flesh of my waist so hard, I was sure to wake with bruises in the shape of crescent moons.
This new angle allowed her to fuck herself up into me and hit new places I never knew existed. I was a wreck and she was enjoying every moment of it.
My orgasm was mere moments away and at the risk of getting denied once more, I begged like my life depended on it.
"M-Mami, please let me cum! Please!"
"Why should I? You've been such a brat today", she challenged,
"Mami, please! I'm sorry, I won't do it again!" I moaned out,
Barely able to speak. I could hear her chuckling at how pathetic I sounded.
"You're all mine, darling. Mami owns you"
She reaches down for my clit and began rubbing vigorously on it.
"Cum for me"
I unraveled with one last scream, as my vision fades to pure white and I fall limp in her arms.
"Oh, don't get too comfortable, sweetness. I'm not done with you yet", she warned,
Flipping me onto my back.
Six rounds and multiple different positions later, we were now well into the early hours of the morning.
She finally pulls out and I whine at the aching emptiness.
"Shhh, baby, it's alright", she soothed,
Pulling me into her arms and laying me down on her chest.
For the first time in the while we've known each other, she didn't rush me out of bed. She simply held me, as I came down from the seemingly never ending euphoria.
"Was it too much?"
"Yes, but, nothing I couldn't handle", I reassured.
The room was now quiet, though it wasn't uncomfortable or awkward.
As a matter of fact, her racing heartbeat being the only thing I could hear, whilst she caressed the expanse of my back was actually quite...comforting.
Though as nice as it was, she eventually did break the silence.
"I love you"
I look up at her wide-eyed.
"What?"
"I love you, (Y/N). I know I should've said it sooner, but I couldn't bring myself to do it"
"Why not?"
She was hesitant, but I needed to hear the reason.
"Rhea", I urged,
Cupping her cheek.
"I was scared you didn't feel the same way"
All this time...
She's loved me all this time. I honestly couldn't tell if I was hallucinating this whole moment and I was almost too scared to find out.
"What made you think I didn't?"
"You're perfect, (Y/N). In every sense of the word and that scared me. I might come off as callous and unafraid, but the thought of ever having to tell you how I truly felt was terrifying"
I was on the verge of tears. I'd never seen her so vulnerable and surrendered.
"Please say something"
I happily sigh through my nose, resting me head against her broad shoulder.
"I love you too, Rhea"
I kissed her again, before laying back down.
"I always have"

FNAF Movie / / Vanessa x F!Reader [Wing-Animatronic]
Tumblr media
(gif by me)
You are hopelessly in love with Vanessa, Bonnie is starting to get sick and tired of you not doing anything about it. Content: Pre-Relationship, Love/Crush Confessions, Soft!Vanessa, BESTBOI!BONNIE Warnings: N/A WC: 1,672
This fic is so self-indulgent. What I would give to hug Bonnie. I think my soul would actually be healed.
Tumblr media
"You know what I mean right?"
Bonnie blinked extremely slowly as he simply looked at you.
"Of course you don't," you leaned back into your chair with a groan.
You had been venting to Bonnie for the past few hours of your shift now, it was becoming a nightly occurrence where he would keep you company in the office (whether he liked it or not...)
"All I'm saying is. She's very attractive and way out of my league."
You were certain Bonnie was trying his hardest to roll his eyes as best he could.
"I'm right, though!" you tried to reason. All Bonnie did was give you a thumbs down in response.
You've had this huge crush (well, it was becoming much more than just a crush nowadays) on a certain blonde police officer you had met on your first night shift a couple months back. She had helped you get a grip on the tasks on your shifts and she had been more than happy to accompany you every other night whenever her own shifts allowed her. She'd always been extremely understandable whenever you opened up to her, she never failed to make you laugh with her stupid dad jokes and she was just overall incredible to be around. The silly playful flirting she had clearly done with you in the past was always welcome, but a part of you wasn't sure whether she meant for the flirtations to be romantic or if they were just jokes.
"You're not being very helpful right now, Bonnie."
He cocked is head at you as if to say 'Are you serious?'
"Come on! How do I successfully win Vanessa's heart?"
Of course he didn't reply.
"You know, if anyone were to walk in and see me talking to you like this they would think I was crazy."
As the hours went on you continued to moan and complain about how you'd never be able to impress Vanessa. About how someone like that could never love someone like you. You were effectively breaking your own heart and putting yourself down. Your hand had been fiddling with a pen for the past couple hours, scribbling various hearts on the back of some paperwork. The name 'Vanessa' was in the middle of said hearts.
You were acting like a love sick teenager with their first crush. You shook your head to snap yourself out of it.
Bonnie took a step away, intending to leave the room.
"Hey! Don't leave me alone when I'm stressed!" you whined.
Bonnie stayed.
Why couldn't it have been Freddy, Chica or Foxy? Why him? Why did he have to listen to all this?
The first few nights he thought it was somewhat interesting and cute to hear you talk about your feelings towards Vanessa. But that interest quickly turned into annoyance after about a week. He liked Vanessa. And he liked you. So of course he wanted to help you in any way he could.
The alarm on your watch finally rang. 6am.
You let out a sigh of relief, moving to turn the monitors off.
"Well... Thanks, Bon. I appreciate you listening. I promise I'll make a move on her. Maybe..." you muttered the last part, clearly not trusting yourself.
You stood up from the desk and grabbed your jacket and keys. You left the office and waved towards the other animatronics before you finally exited the pizzeria.
Bonnie had stayed back in the office, simply waiting for you to leave. His eyes soon locked onto the desk... More specifically the old paperwork on the desk you had left.
Tumblr media
The following night, Vanessa had showed up just as you started your shift. She had followed you into the pizzeria, greeting the animatronics as she did.
"I told you to clean up that mess, Y/N!" Vanessa rolled her eyes as she headed over to a nearby closet to grab a mop. She had wanted you to clean up the mess that Chica and Foxy had made last night. They had knocked over a couple glasses of drinks as they ran throughout the pizzeria.
You shrugged, "I'm lucky you love me enough to clean it up for me," you smirked before walking off towards the office, intending to turn the monitors on.
Vanessa rolled her eyes to herself, however a soft smile appeared on her face at your words. She found the mop before turning back towards the mess, however she wasn't expecting to bump into something.
"Oh!" she exclaimed, "Sorry, Bonnie. Didn't see you there."
He blinked at her before raising a hand.
Vanessa look down at his outstretched hand, she raised an eyebrow in confusion.
In Bonnie's palm there was a piece of paper. Vanessa cautiously eyed it. In the centre of the page there was a messily scribbled heart with the name 'Vanessa' right in the centre.
She let out a quiet laugh, "Aw, thanks. I love you too, big guy," she patted his arm in thanks. She took the mop and headed over towards the mess. She didn't quite see when Bonnie started to shake his head in disagreement. He desperately wanted to tell her that it was in fact you who had drawn that heart. Not him.
The absolute annoyance and stress he was feeling right now...
Bonnie wasted no time in trudging towards the office.
"Hey, Bonnie," you greeted him with a smile as he entered.
He grabbed your arm, quite forcefully, and began to pull you towards the door.
"What's gotten into you?" you asked in confusion.
His other hand moved towards your face, giving you a clear view of a very familiar piece of paper.
"You want me to do that now?!"
He nodded slightly.
"I-I can't Bonnie. It's not the right time. She doesn't like me the same way I like her," you looked down in defeat.
He nodded again, trying to encourage you.
Vanessa cleared her throat, trying to get yours and Bonnie's attention.
You both looked towards the doorway.
"Everything all right in here?" she said, a slight smile in her face at the strange scene she was looking at. She noticed Bonnie holding up the paper directly in front of your face... Your face which was now slowly being covered by a bright blush.
The cogs in the blonde's brain were turning as she desperately tried to work out what was going on.
"Yep!" you squeaked, "Perfectly normal interaction we are having right now," you tried to pull away from Bonnie's strong grip.
Bonnie shook his head frantically. He raised his hand towards Vanessa, showing her the piece of paper again.
"Y-Yeah. You already showed me that buddy-"
He stomped his foot, narrowing his eyes. He then brought the paper back towards you and then back in Vanessa's direction. Over and over, trying to convey what he was meaning.
"Shut up right now, Bonnie," you warned him.
Vanessa felt her mouth go dry as a blush of her own covered her cheeks.
"Y/N..." her voice was soft, immediately making your heartbeat increase, "I don't want to jump to any conclusions here but... Is Bonnie trying to say that you drew that? Not him?"
Great. Now Vanessa was going to think you were an idiot. An idiot who acted like a lovesick obsessed puppy.
"It's stupid, Nessy," you muttered, finally ripping your arm away from Bonnie's grasp. You looked away out of embarrassment before heading over to your chair and plopping down in it.
Vanessa sighed before stepping closer to Bonnie, his hand slowly outstretched towards her. She grabbed the paper and couldn't help but smile down it at it.
"Thanks, buddy," she said before moving towards you.
Bonnie nodded before slowly exiting the room.
"Y/N," she said, turned your chair to face her, "It's not stupid."
"Yes it is," you groaned, hiding your face in your hands, "Can we just forget about this and-"
She giggled, placing the paper on the desk, "It's not stupid. It's cute. It's cute that you have a crush."
"It's so embarrassing, Vanessa," you felt slightly hurt by her mocking you.
Rolling her eyes, Vanessa picked up a pen, "Would it make you feel better if I did the same thing?"
You raised an eyebrow at her, curious as to what she meant. That's when she reached for the paper, and drew her own heart underneath the one you had drawn... Your name was soon in the centre of it.
"You gettin' the picture yet?" she said, hoping you would understand that yes... the feelings were definitely mutual.
You weren't entirely sure on what to say, you simply stared at the paper on the desk.
Vanessa threw the pen down, before cocking her head towards you, "So yes or no?"
"Y-Yes or no?" you questioned.
"How about you let me take you on a date the next time you're off shift?"
This was a dream. It had to be. There was no way this beautiful woman was asking you out on a date right now.
"Need me to repeat myself-?"
"No!" you exclaimed, "I-I mean yes, I mean-"
Vanessa laughed again, "Cute," she muttered before leaning down to place a kiss on your cheek, "I guess I'll be seeing you at the end of the week."
You froze in your chair at the contact.
"Y-Yeah. I'll see you at the end of the week."
Gods, that day could not come soon enough.
Tumblr media
The next night, you had hugged Bonnie tightly. His huge hands had patted you on the back in comfort.
He strutted around the pizzeria, gloating at the fact that he was the best wing-animatronic to ever exist. At the end of the day, he was thankful that you confided and vented to him.

BEAT THEY AHH
Tumblr media
This was recommended by one of my bookie wookies @liauroo
No offence to all the Tiffany’s out there😅.
You don’t know what happened, but all you remember is you laying on the floor, barely unable to move, then the sound of an ambulance, and miles face, him saying words but it came out muffled.
Now your here.
Sitting in a hospital bed, with a busted up face.To be specifice a bloody nose, busted lip, bruised cheek, knuckles, and a sprained ankle.“MA, what happened!?” Miles asked, bursting into the room with a worried expression. “ Well got into a lil brawl apparently” you said sheepishly as you nervously laughed. “Did you win- I mean, With who? when? Why?” He asked as he cupped your face. “With Tiffany, during the second period, cuz she was talking through her neck and thinking nothing was gonna happen to her with her stank ass” you sassed, crossing your arms, kissing your teeth as you did. “Actually she got in 2 fights” Someone announced making both you and Miles turn their hands. It was J.B. your best friend. Well about to the EX best friend if she keeps exposing you like this.“TWO” Miles yelled looking at you slightly disappointed. “Wit who?”, “an argument with the kid named Hakeem and a fist fight with Tiffany” J.B. confirmed making you scowl. “Wait, I was just in the period with you, how is that possible?” the man complained.
“Well it all happened when-”
Flash back:
“Ms. Carter, can we please send Miles Morales to the counselor office” The announcements said.
“Yea sure”
The class was in the middle of a group project till he got called. Everyone feared Miles, they had so much to say but couldn't say it to his face. It honestly pissed you off. As soon as he closed the door, Hakeem started to stalk his shit. “Uh oh, looks like mama’s boy needs therapy” Hakeem teased. You could feel your soul shift, “well atleast his mama wants him unlike your ass” you muttered, but just enough got him to hear you. The male's eyes widened as he got flushed when some of the people heard you.
Him being aggressive and never shutting up. So when the teacher left the classroom for a bit, he took the opportunity to grab your desk making you face him, there could be a loud screech being heard throughout the class catching everyone's attention. “The fuck did you say lil girl” he spat getting in your face.“If I can smell your breath, then back. Up” you said in a warning tone, fr about to get physical. “
I was talking to you lil girl” he spat grabbing your face, making you grimence as he pulled you closer. Since he touched you first, it would be labeled as self defense. You kicked him in the knee causing him to hunch over.
“Don’t try that shit again with me bitch, next time your ass will be getting mollywhopped.” you spat.
End of flashback:
Miles stared at you with his mouth slightly open. “W-wait he said huh”. “Mhm, he does it everytime” you admit. Miles was high key flabbergasted, then he got himself. “I appreciate you defending me ma, but I can handle it myself” he reassured. “Baby I don’t give a damn, I’m your twin, I’m not gonna let that slide”,
“You're literally in a hospital bed right now”,
“Miles i don’t give a fuck, I should have molly-woped his ass,and it was worth it”.
Miles was disappointed. He pintched his nose bridge and layed back in his chair. “Do I even what, to here the buffoonery you got yourself into with Tiffany” he asked.
“Actually she had a valid point for rocking her shit” J.B. objected, making you nod. “So it all started a lil while back where everyone and they mama was accusing me of flirting with her man, but literally everyone and their mama knows I’m talking to you,” you started as you sat up.
“Right, so what happened?”
“I rocked her shit is what happened”
“Oh sweet jesus”
Flash back:
You were currently on your way to your next period and that required you going down the stairs. As you took the first step you felt hands on the back of your shoulders and a strong ass force pushing you. Making you stumble and literally hit your forehead on the pole. Gasp and laughter erupted as you clutched your head in pain. “Son of a gun” you muttered, feeling a hard pounding run through your head. Then all of a sudden, someone and their hot breath pinned me against the wall. “Yo, what the fuck-” bit before you could finish ou were interrupted.“ so You thought you could flirt with my man and get away with it weirdo”. You instantly knew it was tiffany.
“Yo wa-”, “Answer the fuck question slut” she spat. When you proceed the information, and it all settled in, you realized. She was really playing with her life. But that fall and you hitting your head on that pole really messed you up, and her just pushing you against the wall repeatedly was messing you up more. “Get your hands off me” you yelped, pushing Tiffany's arm off of you as you clutch your head in pain. And just like any girl fight, She pulled your hair, but that didn’t last long when you grabbed the collar of her shirt and tripped her laying her on her back. A move Miles taught you a while ago.
And just for good measure, and for fun, you kicked her in the gut.
But before the fight could even, you blacked out.
End of flashback:
“She pushed you down the stairs!?” he yelled making you recoil a bit at the sudden outburst. “yes that's what I just said bookie. See now if I had caught myself in time, then I wouldn't be in the hospital bed while the doctors try to make sure I have no concussions.” you complained. “Not you still putting her in her place when you were on the verge of dying” Miles chuckled.
“Yea, and from what I’ve heard I sat on top of her, witch I don’t remember” you said genuinely. “Well that part I do remember” he said traumatized, a shiver going down his spine.
“In my defense I’m innocent as can be, They all put their hands on me first, and it’s technically labeled as self defense so I’m not in the wrong” you admit rolling your eyes. “Sweety… no”
“What, it’s a win win anyways, I got sent to the hospital, and she did as well”
“You sent her to the hospital!?”
“Of course, may I remind you she pushed me down stairs, why are you on her side”
“...You know what you're right, lemme’ go pay Hakeem and Tiffany a little visit”.
“Miles, no”
“Trust they will be dealt with”

Bad dreams (Percy x reader)

Capture the flag. It was a game of epic highs and lows, winner and losers, all to decide who wore the crown. Until next week, that is. And nobody took it more seriously than Annabeth, determined to win and keep her indestructible reputation as the best strategist around. She was in the war room, taking this very seriously, and discussing with her right hand man before the team.
Percy groaned, dramatically dropping his head on the table, half pushing off the map. “Annabeth, why?” He complained, hand waving in the air to communicate the distain that she couldn’t see in his face.
Annabeth sighed, taking her head in her hands. “I know you don’t like them,” she started calmly, crossing the floor to Percy to pat his back gently. “But the Hypnos cabin is an asset, between all of them, we can have half the enemy team asleep,” she said, ever pragmatic.
Percy was not a fan of her reasoning, as sound as it was. Unfortunately for him, the head counsellor of the Hypnos cabin was you. And You and Percy? He didn’t even want to think about. No idea why you decided not to like him upon meeting, even less of an idea how it’s escalated as far as it has. “Wise girl, have mercy,” he whined, standing up straight again. “Putting me in a room with them is a sure fire way to lose.”
Annabeth pursed her lips. “That might be true,” she started, circling the table, eyes the pieces she set dramatically to represent each of her forces. One or two Hypnos campers per squad to weaken the enemy. “But they’re essential to the plan, just… you’ll be in different areas, if all goes well.”
Percy grumbled. Things never went well.
As the battle drew closer, the allied cabins assembled to hear the more polished version of Annebeths plan. And of course, that meant you at the table, front and centre, your forces being an essential part of the strategy. Great. You always listened to Annabeth, even though she was always sticking up for him. And she managed to get you on the same team, even when you knew that guy you hated would be there.
You nodded along with the details, assigning siblings you thought best for each task. You seemed a lot nicer with them.
You conferred with your cabin, and offered another plan to Annabeth. Percy wasn’t completing focused, because when you were done, he had no idea what you’d said. Annabeth seemed to be a fan though. She nodded along, and adjusted the prices on her map while you have people notes and alternate delegations.
An order to each cabin head. All except him. He glanced around at each counsellor telling their cabin mates what they should do, and he cringed. You’d instructed everyone else. “Uh,” he started looking to you because Annabeth was busy talking to the Apollo counsellor. “Does my job change at all?”
You pursed your lips, smiling just slightly. “No, I guess I didn’t have anything for you,” you said slyly. “But isn’t jumping in without thinking kind of your whole thing? Just roll with that, yeah?”
Percy’s face flattened as he sighed. He needed somebody else, “Annabeth?” He asked.
She turned to him, and thought for a moment. “They might have a point,” she said curiously, much to his detest. Percy grumbled as she continued. “Using you as a wild card might be beneficial, especially because you can take large groups of them at once.”
Great. No job, and more work, somehow. And you were smiling, a bit too satisfied with yourself and his annoyance. Why was it always like this?
                                             …
There was one time when Percy was sparring with Clarisse, and they got a little too heated, and it ended up with Clarisse on Pegasus cleanup duty, and Percy teaching sword classes for a week. Definitely the lighter punishment, considering he liked the job. Chiron always went a little easy on him. But there were layers to this punishment. Primarily: you.
When Percy was approaching, he saw you, and sighed. You were there first, already talking to the younger campers, wide smile on your face and holding a weapon. Ugh. Of course he had the misfortune of fucking up the same time as you. Okay. This week was actually going to be terrible.
“Hey, sorry I’m late,” he said, jogging up to you and the campers. You’d just finished some sort of introduction, it was the perfect time to slide in. The youngest kid looked maybe ten, and had a dagger in her hand. She was little small for the real swords. The kids were looking up at him, faces blank or curious, and you were side eyeing him, brow raised, completely unimpressed. Yeah, he should probably do something interesting.
“Yeah, you sure were,” you laughed sarcastically, sounding just nice enough for the kids not to pick up on your distain.
Percy grimaced. Great start. With a deep breath, he did  his best to recover, running his hands through his hair nervously. “Well, I’m here now, so,” he said, looking at the younger campers. Grinning, and ignoring your cold stare, he uncapped Riptide, and a few kids gasped. “How about we get to the fun stuff?”
He spared you a glance, catching you roll your eyes at him. This was not going to be a good week. Quite possibly the worst punishment Chiron could’ve given him.
It’s hard to teach as a team when you can’t get along  for a second. And all the kids noticed, and did their best to egg you on. Percy was fighting for his life harder than he had on several quests, until the very last minutes of the time slot. Thank the gods it was only like, an hour. Even if it was one of the longest hours of his life.
And he wasn’t even spared when it was over.
“Of course we fucked up on the same week” you sighed, picking up a carelessly discarded sword. “Let me guess, something boring…” you started, walking idly toward the weapons rack with a handful of blades. “Like what, blowing up the bathroom again? Or sneaking out of camp for a quest?”
Hmm. Low blow. Though not completely unwarranted. “No, much cooler than that,” Percy sighed, rolling his eyes as he kicked up some dust from the arena floor. “Beating up Clarisse.”
You scoffed, “somehow I doubt that.”
And you weren’t exactly wrong. It was more of a mutual beating up, in a sort of frenemy way, Percy was the first to admit. But not to you. “Hey, you should see her,” he chided. “There’s cold hard proof.”
You bumped his shoulder on the way out of the arena, sighing. “Maybe I will, I could get some tips on kicking your ass,” you said, raising your brow.
By the time he thought of a good-ish response, you were too far away to hear, and he was kicking himself for letting you get the last word. He glanced around the empty arena dumbly. It looked like you finished the cleanup while he just stood there, another point you had on him now. The punishment may not have been a competition, but you seemed to be winning thus far. Shit.
And it only gets worse from there.
He managed to come early the second day, a full fifteen minutes to get warmed up, and think about what could be good to teach the newbies. And he had the arena all to himself to slash dummies in the exact way he’d instruct them to do later.
“Clarisse told me Chiron intervening is all that saved you from getting sent to the infirmary,” you said.
Percy jumped, Riptide nearly falling out of his hand. When the fuck did you get here? He hadn’t heard you at all. Sneaky bitch. He turned to face you when he recovered from his shock, “yeah, well, she couldn’t admit she lost a fight if there was a gun to her head.”
You didn’t look sold. You raised your brow, “could you?”
He pursed his lips. He wanted to say something like, yes, duh! But quickly realized it might be a lie. To most people he could, but admitting defeat to you felt much worse. Like it would confirm all your doubts or apprehensions about him, or whatever your grudge was. He decided a little lie wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. “I could,” he said casually, slashing a combat dummies head.
He didn’t see your face as you hummed lowly with disapproval. Probably for the better.
Or so he thought, because as you were walking towards the dummy beside his, he started to feel drowsy. His slashes got slower as his arms felt heavier, like they were weighing him down. He looked at you, and immediately wanted to lie down and pass out. Ugh.  Your subtle smirk told him you knew exactly what you were doing. And it only escalated when the kids started to arrive.
You started the lesson off assertively. While he was struggling to blink with his heavy eyelids. “If you have any cool demigod abilities, you should totally use them literally whenever you can,” you said, pointing your weapon enthusiastically at the campers.
Percy couldn’t help but watch in slight awe as you engrossed them all. You narrowed in on a son of Apollo,  your blade staring him down as you told him he should get comfortable using healing abilities in a fight. You seemed to have a suggestion for everyone; the daughter of Hectate should use the mist, a Demeter kid should try and use vines, your Hypnos brother should use… sleep powers. Percy knew about those all too well.
Percy had to admit he was jealous of the way they seemed excited about your ideas. Did they really like you more than him? It wasn’t that he felt bad not being liked, he was plenty used to that in all the schools he went to. It was more that it was you. The way you showed a nicer side to seemingly everyone but him. His body still felt like it was made of lead.
You had some blind spots though. Not everyone had powers, Percy guessed, watching a couple Athena kids rolling their eyes or looking at the ground. “I hate to interject,” Percy started, stealing your and the kids attention again. “But this is weapons training, there are other classes for using abilities.” Plus, maybe you’d stop using yours if they got back on focus.
”Hey, I’m teaching them how to fight better, isn’t that the goal?” You shot back. You seemed to catch the way his eyes were lingering on the kids without abilities. “Even if you don’t have any specific powers,” you said, turning back to the campers, “if we start using them, you’ll learn how to counter them, and kick our asses better.”
Percy sighed. You seemed pretty stuck on this. He tiredly uncapped Riptide, and pointed at it. “Weapons class, Y/n. Let’s focus on using weapons,” he said.
You shifted your lips around, maybe chewing on them, and then seemed to have a thought. Unfortunately. You smiled at the kids, “yeah, well, Percy doesn’t always use his abilities to the fullest when he fights,” you said. “Maybe don’t take his lead too much.”
Ugh. “Well, it’s not always as easy as some people make it look,” he said, gesturing at you. “Not everyone has powers, and some people get drained easily by theirs. For me, I can’t always rely on there being water around me.”
You crossed your arms, raising your brow, and actually looked at him this time. “You know what people are made of, right?”
The kids were listening intently, some snickering and smirking to themselves. A couple seemed annoyed that the training was paused just so the teachers could bitch at each other. Percy sighed, “yeah, no, I don’t want to do that. I think that was an episode of Avatar: the last airbender.”
You rolled your eyes, scoffing. “Well you might win more fights if you did,” you said snidely. Your eyes lowered a moment as you lowered your voice with a bitter tone, “I hate the idea of you going easy on me.”
Before Percy could respond with a retort of his own, you’d dropped the mean act and completely focused on the kids, upbeat and happy. You clapped your hands together, and shot them a wide smile, “how about a demonstration, guys?”
Aw shit. The kids lit up, nodding along as you continued. “How about me and Percy have a little match, and we see who wins, yeah?” You said, grinning at him. Ugh. It wasn’t a secret that people said he was the best swordsman at camp, but you were a head counsellor too. And even if he could stab you, he probably shouldn’t in front of the kids anyway.
He had started to tune you out, but got snapped back to reality when he heard his name. “Percy, are you down?” You asked with faux sweetness. Ugh. Percy sucked a breath in through his teeth, and sighed. “Uh-Sure,” he said cautiously.
You grinned, and the kids stepped back and whispered to each other. Yeah, they definitely picked up on your rivalry. They waited restlessly, probably excited to see the climax of your mutual dislike. Like the fight was inevitable. He uncapped Riptide with a sigh, and raised the blade as you shooed the kids to step further back. He took a fighting stance, raising his blade at the ready. Just great. Your aura of tiredness or whatever was affecting him seemed to get worse. Yeah, he might be fucked without water.
You smirked, twirling a weapon of your own between your fingers and glancing at your audience happily, chest puffed out in self satisfaction. “Do you want to count us down?” you asked the kids, grinning.
They nodded along, three, and Percy sighed, eying the water bottle he had off to the side. If he could get it then maybe... whatever. Maybe if he beat you, you’d lay off. Two. Or, if you won, you could get ten times worse. One. There was no good outcome. And it’s not like either of you could maim each other with the kids watching.
Ugh. Still weighed down by an impossible spell of drowsiness, Percy started to lunge forward, sword ready to slash in an arc above his head. But then he looked at you. And you looked at him. And you were shooting him a finger gun, and Percy was out cold, without enough time to grumble or complain about it. Well shit.
Like most times he slept, he was dreaming. Nightmares, specifically. At least he felt no godly presence, or anything sinister. Today, it was Annabeth and Grover dead on the floor, with Kronos in Luke’s body glaring at him from the sidelines. And then it was just Luke, looking at him sadly, approaching him, and then asking why he let his sister die. Percy didn’t have an answer.
Nightmare Luke wasn’t a fan of that. Suddenly he was turning back into Kronos and raising Backbiter, and Percy was completely unable to move, paralyzed by fear, sadness, and bitter anger. Great. Just great.
But Luke didn’t swing. He stopped, eyes cloudy and blank, and the bodies faded away. Was his subconscious being nice today? Luke stepped back, and his sword has vanished, and the scene was fading fast.
Percy was awake. He grumbled, not wanting to open his eyes. His head was in the dirt, body completely weighed down by his own exhaustion. The arena floor wasn’t the worst place he could’ve fallen, at least. He grumbled, sat up, and rubbed his eyes until they opened.
You were still there, Percy’s eyes flew open, shaking any lingering tiredness. He scooted back just slightly. You were sitting beside him, head rested in hands and lips pursed. “Uhh,” he stuttered, scooting back further. “You’re uh, still hanging out here?” A quick glance showed the kids were gone, and the lesson had been over for a while.
”You have some of the worst nightmares I’ve seen, dude,” you said simply, shifting your head from hands to hand. “I’m… sorry, I didn’t- I didn’t mean to snoop.”
Percys brow furrowed. What? You looked apprehensive, but your words didn’t seem malicious in the slightest. He stopped scooting back, but he held his arm up defensively between you, unsure why. You didn’t have a weapon. “It’s… fine. Was it you that… ended it?” He asked tentatively.
You nodded. “It didn’t seem fun,” you said quietly. You looked away, hiding your face in a palm, “Sorry for putting you in there, I guess,” you said. “I’ll try to avoid sleeping you, if you want.”
Percy looked at you quizzically, jaw hung slightly open, more than confused. You were being nice. That’s crazy. He wasn’t sure how to act. Every word he said was laced with hesitation and the slightest bit of a stutter. “Thanks, I guess,” he mumbled, scratching the back of his neck. “Appreciate it.”
You nodded, and a slightly sealed silence fell over the woods as you refused to look at him. But you didn’t stand up to leave yet either.
“Hey, Y/n, can I ask,” he started, sitting up straighter and crossing his legs. “Usually you hate me…” he said, almost wincing. “Do you… not, today?”
That got your attention, and your eyes were burning through him. Your brow furrowed, and softened, your mouth opened and then closed, you looked away, then back at him, and then sighed. “I don’t hate you, Percy,” you admitted, sounding abjectly defeated.
That got an involuntary “huh?” Out of him. You totally hated him. That was just a fact.
You sighed, and shook your head, turning back away from him. You tone was far lighter this time, “no, I don’t hate you, I just- I don’t know,” you said.
”Then why-“ Percy started dumbly, but quickly trailed off, unsure how to make his question less rude. There didn’t seem to be an obvious answer. “Why are you like this,” he asked, cringing at his own callousness.
You snickered, looking at him with a slight and awkward smile. You shrugged, and looked back at the woods. Percy didn’t speak, he barely breathed, waiting for any sort of a signal from you. Somehow, it worked. You sighed , and stretched your legs in front of you and said, “I don’t know.” You paused, probably thinking. “It just comes naturally, I guess.”
Percy hummed.
“That came out mean, didn’t it,” you laughed softly.
“Like most things you say,” he laughed, but quickly trailed off. “Sorry.”
You smiled hesitantly, looking over at him with softer eyes than he usually sees on you. “No, that was deserved,” you said.
Percy smiled, and then raised his brow, surprising himself. That didn’t happen when he talked to you, this was fresh territory. Before he could respond, you were standing, and for the first time, offering him a hand up. And for the first time, he took it.
You pulled him to his feet, but didn’t look at him, curtly turning your head away as he stood in front of you. Percy couldn’t help but snicker under his breath. You seemed intent on staring at a tree.
”Hey,” Percy started, brushing his hair out of his face. “Do you wanna go get on the same page about what we’re teaching them tomorrow so we don’t have a repeat of today?” He asked. He got a little scared when you finally looked at him, but you didn’t seem angry. And if anybody knew your angry face it was him. “We’ll probably be better teachers if we actually work together on it.”
You hesitated, raising your brow. “Uh, really?” You stuttered, crossing your arms and shrinking into yourself.
Percy sighed. He was doing this, he’d committed now. For better or worse. “Yeah,” he nodded, with a friendly smile. “Why not? Let’s go get lunch or something.”
Percy wasn’t sure how well his olive branch was working. Your lips were pursed and arms still crossed, but.. the ever so familiar scowl you often showed him was absent from your lips. That could be good. You looked at the ground, then back to him, “yeah, okay.”
And here he was braced for rejection and an insult. Small victories. Percy grinned, nodding his head in the general direction of the dining pavilion, “then let’s go.”
You nodded, and walked quietly beside him as he started for the path. Okay, a little awkward silence was nothing, that was still a win. Miles better than where he was this morning. Or even like, an hour ago. So Percy was inclined to try and bridge the gap. “The kids are gonna be really surprised when we actually work together, tomorrow,” he laughed. Careful words, when, not if.
He caught in his peripheral the tug of your lips upward into the slightest of smiles. “They’ll never see it coming,” you said. Maybe like a joke. Wow, was this actually working? You let out a small laugh, “neither did I.”
Percy but the inside of his cheek to suppress a smile. That made two of you, because this was the last thing Percy expected too. “Yeah,” he started. “Not bad though.”
For the first time in a good minute, you met his eyes, and his attention was drawn. You didn’t normally look at him like that. It was a… nice change pace. You sighed, “No, not the worst.” You swished your cheeks around a moment as you paused, but didn’t say more. And Percy would be lying to himself if he tried thinking he wasn’t a little disappointed. It almost looked like you were gonna say something nice. Well, maybe not the worst was nice enough. For you, at least.
”Percy, I’m really sorry about those nightmares,” you said finally, looking at the ground.
Ah. That. Percy didn’t tell all that many people about his shit dreams. It was kind of a given that most people at camp got them, in some capacity at least. But he did his best to project a lighthearted image, especially when he was with the younger campers. “Oh,” he said dumbly.
“If you want, I can help with those,” you offered quietly.
Now that caught Percy’s attention. He raised his brow, “You can do that?” And he didn’t ask his other question: you would do that? Like, for him?
You looked up at him, then back to the ground as the two of you approached the dining pavilion. “Yeah, Hypnos stuff,” you mumbled. “I do it for some other people too.”
Oh gods, you felt bad for him. That was a weird thought. “Oh- you don’t have to do that,” he started, suddenly far more embarrassed. So that’s why you were being nice. Suddenly it didn’t feel as good as before.
You looked up at him with wider eyes now, and bit the inside of your cheek. “Well, if you ever change your mind.”
Something about your pity didn’t sit right with him, even if was glad you didn’t look like you wanted to bite his head off. This look, the feeling sorry for him face, was somehow worse. “I won’t,” he snapped, sounding meaner than he meant. Or maybe he did mean it, in his bitterness he couldn’t tell. “You don’t need to pretend to like me now that you feel bad.”
You brow furrowed, and that pity look was gone in an instant. “Hey asshole, I was just offering to help,” you spat. Now this was more familiar. You crossed your arms at your chest as you walked. “Thought about being nice for once.”
”Yeah, for once,” he said, rolling his eyes. “Because now you feel bad.”
”Oh shut up,” you said, shaking your head with a glare. You stopped just short of the pavilion. “You aren’t special because you get nightmares, idiot, half the camp does,” you said, stepping closer to him. He was inclined to back away. “I’ve seen worse.”
Percy took another step back. There was a few stray campers sitting in the pavilion watching curiously, now.
“But sure, go ahead,” you said, hands animating with your words. He flinched a moment as you halfway gripped the air. “Keep having your shit dreams, I don’t care.”
“Then why did you offer,” he spat back.
You looked at him like he was an idiot, shaking your head. “Because nightmares suck, nobody deserves that shit,” you said, like it was obvious. “Not even a stuck up asshole who thinks he’s better then everyone.”
What? Percy stood dumbly for a moment while your sharp glare subsided into a duller scowl. Did he really come off like that? “I’m not-“ he started, but quickly gave up. As much as he wanted to insult you back, half the things you said were genuinely pretty nice. You were right, nobody deserved that.
You scoffed, “sure you’re not,” you said bitterly.
The two do you stood silently for a moment. And a few moments more. The couple of campers watching awkwardly tried to go back to eating. The lunch plans the two of you made seemed so far in the past now. Same with the idea of getting in the same page.
Percy spoke first. “I don’t- I don’t think like that,” he said lamely.
”No, you’re just the hero of Olympus, who goes on all the quests, who the gods tried to give immortality too,” you said. But the malice was gone. “You’re the reason I even have a cabin here,” you said quietly.
Percy winced. How do you explain to somebody that going on all those quests… wasn’t always great. It stopped being amazing when more lives were at risk, the stakes got higher, people died. A lot of the time all the glory kind of sucked. “Well it’s… not all it’s cracked up to be,” Percy managed. “I mean, you saw the aftermath.”
”Yeah,” you said, looking at the ground. “That’s why I thought.. you might not be how I thought.” You looked up, expression made of stone. “But at least you’re… I don’t know,” you trailed off, “I think I’d still rather be somebody, even if it sucks.”
Percy half heartedly laughed through his nose, “Usually I feel the opposite, it would’ve been easier to be a kid of some minor god.”
”Grass is always greener, I guess,” you sighed.
“You are somebody, though,” Percy said, realizing he should probably address that. The idea that you were insecure seemed so alien. The way you insulted him always seemed so confident. “You don’t need a ton of quests or fights to prove that.”
You rolled your eyes, a weak smile was forming on your lips, “well, that’s easy for you to say. I’m only here, and claimed, and in a cabin because you made the gods pay their child support.”
Percy smiled softly, gesturing his head to the tables at the pavilion. He started to walk as he spoke, “that’s the gods, that’s their problem,” he said, grabbing a plate to fill with the magic food with you behind him. “You’re more then the gods approval.”
He had to look back to see if you were still there, the way you went quiet. You grabbed a plate, and followed him to a table, all with that stone faced look. Not pity or malice, this time. When you sat down beside him, you finally cracked. “Thanks,” you managed, staring ruefully at your food.
“It’s true,” Percy said.
You looked up at him, a slight smile on your lips this time. “Thanks,” you said, more confidently.
“Are you still up for helping me with the nightmares?”

God, did she hate that man
Y/N and Max had been rivals since they both were little. When they used to go kart. And god, did they hate each other
It was no secret that they hated each other. You could practically see it in their eyes when they stood together
If they had the chance, they would refuse to stand beside each other. There would almost always be a person in between them
Just as they thought they had gotten away from each other, they got even closer
Max had gotten a contract with Red Bull in F1, and would start the same year she would start in Mercedes-AMG
When they started driving in F1, they tried hiding their hate for each other when they were around the other drivers and when they were with the press or in the paddock
It was hard in the start. They carried their hate for each other all day, but when they got to the hotel. All hell breaks loose
One would go to the others room, not for anything specific, but just to yell and say dirt about their rival
“You always get in my face, Max!” This time, Max had gotten to her room to snicker at her “Always! You taunt me when you win, even if it’s with under a second!” They been going at it for what felt like hours
“Well, maybe if you had been better and actually won, I wouldn’t have to tell you that you lost” He snapped back at her
At this point, they didn’t care if the other rooms could hear them
“At least my team actually care about me, and not just my talent” She walked closer to him, making him flinch a bit and took a step back
He couldn’t say anything back. He knew it was right. They did only care about his talent
“What? Did we go speechless?” She walked closer to him again, backing him up against the wall behind him
She looked up at him with her arms crossed over her chest “If only you could see yourself now. Looking flustered. Speechless. Not able to defend his teams name” She turned to walk away but was quickly turned around and up against the wall
She was unable to complain about the pain in her back when Max’ lips landed on hers. Max pushed her harder against the wall by her hips
She kissed him back and put her hands on his biceps “You know you’re hot when you’re angry, right?” Max said as he pulled away for air
When she didn’t answer he continued to speak “You have no idea have long I’ve wanted to do that” He chuckled as he put his forehead against hers and closed his eyes
“Why did you wait so long?” She asked as her hands traveled over his chest, down his sides, and landed on his hips
“Because you hate me?” His answer sounded more like a question. The truth was, he was afraid that it would bad and that she would never even look at him again. He loved her eyes, even if they were filled with hate and anger
“Of course I do” She pushed them away from the wall and walked towards the bed. Max sat down on the edge when the end of the bed hit the back of his legs “You’re fucking hot” She said as she sat down in his lap
Her hands landed on his shoulders as Max’ landed on the back of her thighs “You’re the biggest asshole I know. The worst rival. A fucking idiot” She could feel the way he hardened under her “Does somebody like being degraded?” She raised her eyebrows at him making him blush hard
He only nodded in response, too flushed to talk. He didn’t think about the consequences of his actions. Seconds later, her hand came in contact with his cheek
“I don’t want anything of this nonsense. Use your fucking words” Her mouth was close to his ear. When he didn’t answer, she pulled away from his ear to look at him “Speak” She demanded
His eyes were shut as his head turned away from her “Look at me” She pulled his face towards her again “Open your eyes” And he did so “Tell me. Do you like being degraded, Max?”
When he again didn’t answer, she hit him yet again, which drew out a whimper mixed with a moan, but from the pain, he couldn’t stop his eyes from watering
God, he looked so pretty like this. Droplets gathering in the corner of his eyes “Yes. Yes, I fucking love it” She chuckled as he finally confessed to his kink
“You’re such a whore” She growled low “A fucking dirty whore” She pulled his shirt over his head and discarding of it before she pushed him against the bed
She bend down and started attacking his neck and throat with kisses, licks, and sucked aswell
“Cursing me out, yelling at me. Coming to my room late at night, just because you find me hotter when I’m angry, and now even admitted to wanting to fuck me for, what… 3 years?” Max whimpered underneath her as she spoke between her attacks
“Longer” He admitted “Much longer” He whined as she pulled away from his now marked up chest
“Much longer?” She raised an eyebrow down at him “How much longer?” She asked him curious
“Since we were 16” He confessed rolling his hips up against hers to get some friction, but it only resulted in her lifting her hips up and away from his
“For 10 years?” She was surprised as to how long it had actually been “Fucking whore” She kept her hips away from his as she went back to kissing and biting all over his torso, neck, and throat
“Do you actually think you deserved this after that confession?” She saw the pain in his face when he tried to speak, but the words didn’t leave his mouth.
She hit him again
A few tears rolled down his cheeks. She forced him to look at her by grabbing his chin “Fucking answer me, you slutty whore”
“Fuck. No, I don’t deserve it” His breathing was loud and heavy as he spoke “But please… I’ll be such a good boy for you” His breath was shaking as his hands trembled up her body
“We’ll have to see about that” She sighed as she got off him and sunk to the ground instead
She unbuckled his belt painfully slow. She was taunting him. His head fell back against the bed as she managed to pull his cock out of his boxers
“They say that men’s cock’s match their ego, so I expected more from you” She looked up at him with disappointment in her eyes
She spit in her hand and started stroking him. She loved the sounds she forced out of him “You sound so good for me”
His moans mixed with whimpered and whines got heavier and louder when wrapped her lips around him
She started slowly going up and down his shaft. She could already feel him twitch in her mouth as he started fucking her mouth
“Shit, shit, shit” He moaned and grabbed the sheets of the bed “Fuck, you feel so good” He whimpered and arched his back off the bed
“Fuck, I’m gonna come. Fuck” His legs started shaking as she went faster “verdomde hel” He moaned loud when he came undone in her mouth
She got off of him, and went on top of the bed to kiss him rough. While she kissed him, she spit his own loath in his mouth
“I’m not gonna swallow anything you give me” She said to where Max swallowed his own loath

PUNISHMENT: A Reward
A/N: Decided to name our ‘PUNISHMENT’ fic boy Malachi, lemme know if this is a win or a fat L my scrumptious pogchamps. ALSO happy valentines day! (Posting this early let me be)
CW: Toxic relationship, possessive/obsessive behavior, suggestive themes, mentioning future seggsual acts/fantasies
Synopsis: Out on a group date for Valentine's Day with your possessive, jealousy-ridden boyfriend is never a good idea, especially when he finds the special surprise you’re wearing for him.
Tumblr media
“Hrmm… seems like they have a lot of Valentine's themed stuff on the menu.”
“Well it IS the season! No other reason for it being so packed in here...” One of your friends across the table perked up, slightly annoyed at the stuffy atmosphere.
She was right, every table was filled, every booth full of chattering couples or first blind dates, even double or thruple dates just like the one you were on.
You were lucky your friend's boyfriend had managed to snag this place a week in advance, else you might be thigh to thigh with everyone else in a tinier booth. Ha, as if YOUR boyfriend would allow that; you'd probably be on the edge of the shared booth seat, nearly falling off just to save you from being ‘too close’ to anyone else, even your own friends.
“Annoying… I don't get why going out on Valentine's Day is so important, what happened to dates in the privacy of your own home.” Said the devil you were thinking of, that comment nudging to how he was far more in favor of spending a “romantic” evening home alone with you instead of being here with your two friends and their spouses.
“Awe, is puppy dog Malachi upset he has to share? We planned this weeks in advance, so suck it up, we have a right to see OUR friend tonight.” That same friend hissed.
Your other friend nodded. He would’ve added on, if it weren’t for the death stare your boyfriend was currently drilling into everyone else across the table. You hadn’t been out in a group setting like this in… who knows how long.
“Oh, really? Don’t fucking--”
“C’mon you guys,” You grabbed onto Malachi’s thigh, a tight squeeze making him stop in his angry tracks to look down.”I’m here right now, shouldn’t we be catching up, not fighting? I missed you, missed this.”
Your sincerity seemed to ease them up, a flash of contrition on your female friend’s face. She hated your boyfriend, clearly, wearing a scowl when she turned back to Mr. moody himself. He rested his face on his palm, looking at the other couples every now and again, always keeping a short glance at you out of the corner of his eye to make sure you weren’t having too much fun.
One of the spouses --you had forgotten the name of by now after the evening’s short introductions-- had begun talking, complaining about coworkers or customers, one or the other.
Wow, has it been so long that your friends have completely different lives now, new people that they spend their time with that you weren’t even told about? Well, its not like you’ve exactly been open to receiving that kind of news, or able to be, with so little time to make phonecalls lately, your phone always seeming to disappear, phone numbers no longer existing in your contacts… it was truly a miracle you managed to have this outing, and Malachi thought so too.
“I swear if she prods at me again,” Your jealous guard dog of a boyfriend started, hand clenching the red, heart-embroidered table cloth.
“Take it easy, okay? I know you don’t want to be here but-- just do it a little longer, for me. Thats what we agreed, right?”
You took his hand in yours, bringing up his clenched fist to your lips. You thanked the skies that physical affection always seemed to drown out his fiery temper. You wondered how much longer that’d last.
“Fine. But I can’t stand looking at them anymore, come ‘ere.” Malachi patted his thigh, hands moving to your hips to help bring you to your new seat.
“Seriously? We’re in a.. A nice restaurant, with my friends--”
He gave you a knowing look, one that said ‘if you don’t listen, i’ll drag your ass back to the car without the pleasure of friendly goodbyes.’
You didn’t know if you could handle the embarrassing shit he put you through anymore. It tested the strength of your will and the integrity of your soul at this point.
You did as he demanded, slowly making your way to sit on the edge of his lap. Most of those around you didn’t seem to notice, an occasional glance looking to see what you were doing, but ultimately going back to the lively story of one of the nameless significant others. You tried to hover above him, afraid to fully commit to sitting down on top of him, but a small ‘what are you doing’ and forced downward push of your hips made your butt make soft contact with his lap.
“That’s right… that’s better.” He cleared his throat, putting one arm around your waist and the other on your knee. You directly blocked his view, your boyfriend not moving to see the rest of the group, instead leaning against you like a perfectly shaped body pillow.
“Can’t you atleast act normal? Don’t you have any shame around other people,” You whispered, knowing that one of your friends was reading the uncomfortable expression on your face and was in turn, giving a similar expression of discomfort.
“Hey, you know how bad I can be, this isn’t even the worst of it. You want me to really embarrass you?”
A waiter  broke the quiet spat you were having with him, asking if you’d like another drink. He didn’t acknowledge the man behind you, either out of not seeing him or to purposefully avoid the dark eyes digging into his soul behind your shoulder.
You croaked out a polite “yes please,” looking for your friend’s fellow responses. They all answered in kind, the waiter scurrying away to another busy set of tables.
Malachi scoffed, coiling around you tighter.
“D’you see that? I knew we shouldn’t have come out here, in front of prying eyes… bet he’s hit on every other pretty thing he’s seen walk in here, so don’t get any ideas.”
You almost turned around to gawk at your boyfriend, such an insensitive and insecure string of words wounding you.
“I would never..”
You almost let him ruin the rest of your evening, the dreadful pit of wanting to go home entering your tired mind. But you promised yourself you’d try to make an effort in repairing your friendships, attempting to memorialize your friend’s smiles and laughs, trying to come up with the names of their spouses you had just heard a half hour ago. If you wouldn’t see them again for a while, atleast you could have this.
And with the two-second memory your boyfriend often displayed,(except for when it came to your “betrayals”) he was enamored with something new.
“Oh, what do we have here…” Malachi tip-toed down the elastic waistband of your pants, looking at the lacey red lingerie underneath. It wasn’t hard to spot, not when it was a drastic change from your usual tame undergarments. Well, tame for him, he had seen them all at this point.
You wouldn’t have noticed his prodding peculiarity if it weren’t for that worrying heightened pitch in his voice, one that always started trouble. Fingers nipping your tummy and around your wrist weren’t unusual, you had become accustomed to it from how he pawed at you at home, never seeming satisfied, but this, wasn’t the usual lack of personal space.
“Hey! You weren’t supposed to see that.” You slapped his hand away, having which already gotten a full touch of the goods you were hiding.
“What is that supposed to mean--” Malachi started, and you knew he was about to expect the worst. You shut him up as fast as you could.
“It’s supposed to be for tonight, idiot!” You whispered with a harsh tone, starting to get fed up with his childish reactions, which always seemed to jump to conclusions. “...Did you forget that it’s Valentine’s day or what?”
You barely let the words escape from between your teeth, not wanting to admit the silent internet escapade you went on to find something that wouldn’t tear your ass in half or be so tight you’d be left with more marks from it than him. But even so, after the sneaking around in trying to catch the package before he could and clearing out your emails as soon as possible, he still managed to see it before you had planned.
Now, you wondered if it was worth it, with the lace itching your chest and the other giving you a wedgie.
“awe.. no way, for me? All for me?” Malachi was promptly sweet on you, much different than the heel-biting mood he was in a short few minutes ago.
You leaned back to get close to his ear, shifting your eyes anxiously. You really didn’t want your friends to know about the violently ravenous side of your boyfriend that wouldn’t stop him from making a scene about it here and now, which you anxiously tried to prepare for in case of the worst. “It’s for when we get back home…so lets just enjoy our time here, just sit still with me for a little longer.” You tried your usual ‘gentle parenting’ method, holding the heavy knuckles around your waist, to soothe him into letting you spend just a little bit longer with your friends.
Malachi kicked his feet, exasperating at this newfound interest and the ways he could torture you with it, could make you beg him for its secrecy. Oh how he could envision having you at his mercy, so cute and sexy but ultimately deserving punishment for going behind his back about something so temptatious, something another man could see and take if he weren’t there.
“But now, baby I don’t know if I can wait.” He grinned, raking his teeth over his bottom lip so much it looked like it hurt. You felt him shift underneath you, leaning up to grind against your backside. “Man, you really should’ve hid it better, ‘cause now its all I can think about..”
You rolled your eyes, feeling his heavy exhale against your cheek. Your friends were too immersed in their own conversations with their loved ones to notice anything else, legs strewn over one another and fingers interlocked as they felt the cheap haze of their Sweetheart Cocktail’s and Rosé’s of Love. You would’ve much preferred to be tipsy along with them by now, but the truth is you were too nervous with the possessive man beside you to truly let loose anywhere other than alone. On top of that, the scolding you’d get from him for being so relaxed was not worth the extra headache.
And yet, the wanton expression he held for you, the hands that fiddled to get deep and play with his surprise, made you feel so wanted. More wanted than your friends had  made you feel this evening. They just looked at you with concerned frowns and confused cocks of their heads as they questioned to why you were still with this crazed maniac.
“What I would do to bend you over in front of these idiots, make you do more than say my name while wearing these adorable lacey little--”
“Don’t tell me you’re already thinking of heading out.” Your female friend piped up, looking at the credit card Malachi put on top of the split receipt that has been sitting lonesome for a good while.
He almost broke, annoyed at the sudden interruption.
“Afraid so,” Your anticipating boyfriend gleamed, not even her sour attitude dampening the rising excitement in his perverted mind and tightening pants. “We have some other plans to attend to.”
“What could be more important than friends?” She asked, looking at you to advocate against your controlling spouse.
You felt a greedy palm reach up your shirt, falling back down to paw for the thin garment below your waistline.
“If we don’t go now.. I don’t know how much longer I can wait. Can’t promise that I won’t  rip these fucking shorts off you here to see what all is underneath.” He whispered against you through gritted teeth, barely able to stop from kissing you raw.
“We’ll stay… just until the waiter comes back for his tip.” You choked out, not letting on about the roll of Malachi’s hips that pressed you up against the table.

my eyes sting, locked to my phone screen. my hearing is muffled, drowning out the sound of my boyfriend and his best friend just feet away from me.
they sit on the coffee table in front of me, NHL 23 displayed on the tv. they shout curses at each other and the tv, trying their hardest to win for their respective teams on the video game. but my focus is solely on the comments of my most recent instagram post.
all i wanted to do was show off my boyfriend of five years. but his fans were being so mean.
it was nothing new. these comments happened on nearly every post i made. whether they were insulting my looks, or saying Alex deserved better, i could never please them.
usually, i only let myself look at the comments for a moment before deleting them altogether, but today was already a hard mental health day and these comments were hitting me where it hurts. i can’t help but dwell on them longer than usual. today they took my worst fear, and used it as a ‘what if?’ scenario, one of the meanest things they’ve ever done.
i sniffle, standing from the couch. shuffling quickly past my boyfriend, my head hanging low to try and hide my tears as i make my way to our bedroom, shutting myself in the darkened room, the only light being that of the setting california sun peeking through the curtains on the windows.
i crawl up our bed, burrowing myself in a cocoon of blankets and pillows, and turn my phone back on, scrolling through the comments once more. this time, i let my tears flow freely, silent sobs racking my body.
all the comments on my body, my insecurities and flaws, my relationship, even some accusing me of cheating on Alex with our friends. it’s one blow after another, each one cutting deeper than the last.
a loud cry escapes my lips and i clap a hand over my mouth, squeezing my eyes shut and holding my breath; praying to whatever higher power that Alex and Trevor didn’t overhear me from the living room.
my prayers go unanswered when our bedroom door creaks open, the light switch being flipped on, and two sets of footsteps enter the bedroom.
“hey, sweet girl.” i bury my head deeper under the blanket at the sound of my boyfriend’s voice. “you wanna show me that pretty face?”
his gentle tone brings even more tears to my eyes and despite knowing he can’t see me, i shake my head.
“y/n? are you okay?” Trevor asks softly. i feel them both sit on the bed as i hum out a ‘mhm’.
“you sure?” Trevor questions.
“why won’t you let us see you, then?” Alex asks. a hand finds my back, rubbing it soothingly, and the soft touch causes me to let out another cry. i hear some muffled whispering before someone rises from the bed.
“i’m gonna leave you guys to talk, i’ll see you tomorrow.” Trevor announces. “y/n, if you need me, just call and i’ll come right over.”
i hear his footsteps retreating, the bedroom door falling shut behind him before my boyfriend’s hand leaves my back, coming up on the blankets and pulling it down to reveal my tear stained face.
“hey, what wrong, baby?” his eyes are filled with worry, concern dripping from his words like honey. “why are you crying, sweet girl?”
“i’m fine.” i choke and he obviously sees straight through my lie.
“if you were fine, you wouldn’t be crying.” he shifts his body, moving to lay down next to me on the bed. his arm wraps around my waist, pulling me in close, and on instinct, i throw my thigh over his abdomen. his hand comes up to play with my hair, the tips of his fingers scratching my scalp in a calming manner.
“you wanna tell me what’s got my girl so upset?” he questions. he knows he has me in the palm of his hand. he knows exactly what to do to ease my mind and make me feel safe.
“comments.” i whisper into his chest, muttered by lips against his shirt.
“hmm?” he hums. my eyes flicker up to see his brows pulled down in confusion.
“instagram comments.” i clarify, sniffling and wiping at my nose with my hand. “some of your fans aren’t very nice.”
“wait what?” he asks. his hands pause their actions and he pulls my face back to look me in the eyes. “what are you talking about?”
“i didn’t wanna say anything. you love your fans and some of them are so sweet.” i sigh.
his expression is one of betrayal and disappointment. this is exactly why i kept this all from him. he loves his fans so much, i know he would never want to hear that some of them are so cruel.
“y/n, what are they saying?”
“just mean things. things i’d rather not repeat.” i unlock my phone, the screen still on the hate comments of my latest post, and hand it to him, letting him see them for himself.
“what the fuck?” he murmurs to himself. “why have i never seen these?”
“i usually delete them right away.” i confess. “i never wanted you to see them.”
“baby, you should’ve told me about these. these are cruel.” he scrolls through the comments, deleting every comment that isn’t necessarily considered nice.
“i know, but your fans make you so happy. i never wanted to take that from you.” i cry, burying my face in his chest.
“but you make me happier.” his hand rests on my head, the other rubbing my back. “you make me so much happier than they ever could.”
“it just hurts. it didn’t used to hurt this much, but after so long, the comments are getting to me.” i sob. “i just wanna feel okay again.”
“hey, you know nothing they said is true, right? you’re beautiful, and sweet, and the best thing to ever happen to me. you’re the smartest, most thoughtful, kindhearted, loving girl i’ve ever met. and i would never do anything to jeopardize what we have. i would never even think about even entertaining the idea of sleeping with anyone on a roadie, you know that, don’t you?”
i nod my head, sniffling. i raise my head to look at him, his eyes glassy as he wipes my tears.
“i love them, but i love you so much more. and they’re clearly not fans of mine if they think it’s okay to say shit like this about you, let alone to you.”
my insecurities get the best of me and i can’t help but question.
“you’re sure you’re not sick of me?” i whisper.
“you ever looked in my nightstand?” he asks, my eyebrows furrow in confusion and i shake my head.
“not recently, no.” i don’t understand his question, or what it has to do with mine.
he pushes me off of him, my heart sinking in my chest.
this is it.
he’s decided we’re done.
i don’t know what i’ll do without him.
he leans over his side of the bed, shuffling around in his nightstand drawer for a moment before turning back to me, something clasped in his hand.
“i had a more romantic plan, i swear i did. i had a whole speech planned, but my mom said that i should do this when it feels right. and now feels right.”
my eyes widen, my breath going shaky as i consider what he could possibly be meaning in this moment.
i sit up quickly in the bed, as he reveals a black ring box in his hands, opening it to reveal a gorgeous diamond ring.
my hands rise shakily to my parted lips, more tears gathering in my eyes as they flicker between him and the ring.
“you asked if i’m sure, and i hope that this ring shows you that i’m absolutely positive. i can’t imagine a life without you. i can’t imagine what my life would’ve been like if you hadn’t called me a ‘stupid waste-of-a-pretty-face hockey player’ when we were sixteen.”
“all you got from that was ‘pretty’.” i let out a choked laugh through my tears.
“and i’m so glad i did, because that one word was all it took for me to fall to my knees. to chase after you and annoy you for an entire year until you agreed to go out with me. and now i never want to live a life without you.
“you’re my biggest supporter, my favorite person in the world, and the only girl i ever want. i love your kind soul, and the way your smile brightens my day. i love your beautiful eyes and the way you laugh over my dumbest jokes. i love that you fought for us to stay together, even when i wasn’t sure if we would work after i was drafted. i love that you dance in the kitchen when you cook, and the way you romanticize every part of our every day lives. i love that you refuse to go to bed angry, and that you sing in the shower and make me duet you. i love you, for everything you are, and everything you will be. and i would love to spend the rest of our lives together, if you’ll marry me.”
i can’t even get a response past my lips, opting to tackle him instead, nearly knocking us off the bed. but Alex’s quick thinking saves the moment, swaying us sideways instead to land on our sides on the mattress.
i straddle his waist, knocking him on his back as my lips glide along his face, peppering kisses on his cheeks, forehead, nose, chin, anywhere i can reach, before settling on his lips.
i pour all of my emotions into this kiss, filled with love and happiness, joy and affection. i suckle his bottom lip as i pull back to look into his eyes, a large grin taking up the bottom half of my face.
“is that a yes?” he chuckles, a hand resting on my lower back, the other still gripping the ring box.
“that’s a yes.” i nod excessively, holding my left hand out for him. he smiles widely, making quick work of removing the engagement ring from the box and sliding it onto my finger.
“i love you so much.” i tell him, grasping his face in my hands as i lower my lips to his once more.

no cause the way you have filled my brain with sho brainrot,,,
baby acting like a mf guard dog for his favourite senpai, constantly wanting their attention 😭
LISTEN
I am so glad I waited to answer this for a teeny bit because I thought I was exaggerating at first because like. It was one voiceline right? WRONG. When you level him up he says "thank you senpai" and when I got his SR and slapped him onto my homescreen he does in fact try to get your attention and ask for help from his senpai. He's supposed to be this brash delinquent but he's shockingly respectful of one very specific senior even if he's just a bit sarcastic about it ugh.
Sho feels like he needs an excuse. He can't just ask to hang out with you because then it looks like you're friends, but if he's asking for a favor then you won't have a reason to say no. The Professors all want you to help out the ghouls so he can say just about anything and you'll jump at it, right? Yeah no that's not the real reason. He wants to have you to himself and if he words it like he needs help he can make excuses as to why you two need to be left alone.
Absolutely uses the fact that he can cook to his advantage. I think one of the main reasons Sho started liking the MC so much was because you supported his cooking. He seemed like he expected to be judged for it so when MC was just hungry and said his food was good? The only person he really seems to have cooked for up to this point is Leo (and Bonnie but she's special) so he wants that praise. And to hear you say he could charge money for it? Oh he was riding that high for ages. I feel like he already wanted to open some sort of cafe but really appreciated the support.
And it gives him the excuse to get you to stay around him longer when he asks for your help. Well he's going to cook anyway and you're hungry, so just stick around. He'll make something and pretend to complain about it but he likes feeding you. Well assuming you don't douse his food in hot sauce, though that won't stop him from making you stuff.
I really like the idea of him competing with the Frostheim ghouls idk why. I think MC should get to be good friends with Kaito and Luca and Sho should get to be a brat about it. Vagastrom and Frostheim already don't get along and he never got his fight with Lucas so yeah. He's super intense about how he's way better at protecting MC than they are, especially with Lucas. Part of it is because he feels guilty for going along with Leo's plan and almost getting you killed, he feels like he needs to prove that he's strong enough to not let that happen again.
Speaking of Leo... I sort of get the sense that Sho hides how much he hangs out with the MC from him. In book 3 Leo makes a bet that would see him getting Sho's food truck if he wins it so I sort of feel like if Leo knew Sho liked the MC he'd be insufferable about it. Honor Roll is stealing his best friend (¬、¬) how lame ugh. And he would try to sabotage it because he would find it funny, or even worse try to make Sho's friendship with you the cost of a bet. I could see Sho having nightmares about that.
Book 3. When Towa and MC go missing. I just know in my heart Sho was loosing his goddamn mind. Again I think he feels sort of guilty for almost getting you killed, and now that you aren't with his dorm you just go missing? Unacceptable where are you? How did Jabberwock fuck this up so badly holy shit. I wanna see him admit that he was worried about MC. I wanna know if he got into any arguments with the Frostheim ghouls while the professors forced them to stay behind.
... i kind of want him to argue with Jin. Like specifically Jin. For no reason other than it would be funny to me personally and like... Jin is the one who interrupted his fight with Luca so I just think it would be funny if they had beef.
I need to level his affinity more. I need to see more chats game please ;-; I love him shomuch.

EPISODE 10 - AN UNEXPECTED PURCHASE
charles stands with max, before their final press conference of the season, when lance approaches them. he greets both of them before turning to charles, "what happened? twitter is losing it's mind."
charles laughs, max also looks visibly confused, "oh mate, the craziest thing happened."
"STARK!" lando is heard shouting before he appears in the camera's view. he crashes into charles, gripping his shoulders, "TONY FUCKING STARK JUST BOUGHT THE TEAM?"
"what?" max questioned, "who bought what team? and what are you doing here, you're supposed to be in the media pen?"
"TONY STARK JUST BOUGHT FERRARI MAX!"
"oh," lance said, "that's why twitter is losing it."
"losing it?" lando questioned, "twitter is in shambles lance. it's not everyday a fucking avenger buys an f1 team."
"correct me if i'm wrong," daniel says, approaching the group, "but didn't tony stark get attacked at the monaco grand prix ages ago?
"you should ask fernando about that," charles told lance. the canadian looked confused before realization hit him, "right, fernando's been driving as long as oscar's been alive."
"we are completely and utterly fucked if tony stark just bought ferrari. you think the red bull dominance was bad, ferrari is about to completely annihilate us," lando complained.
daniel laughed, "well, i'm sure you guys will enjoy fighting for that p3. my tractor and i will enjoy fighting for points."
Tumblr media
will buxton sits in front of the camera, "there's not many times when the world of formula one falls silent. in 1994, it fell silent to mourn the death of ayrton senna, then again in 2014 to mourn jules bianchi. zhou's nearly fatal crash and romain's near death experience rendered it silent for a moment before it all went back to normal. but this, this is one of those moments where it all falls silent before exploding. no one saw this coming, that's how unexpected this was. we never thought we'd hear the news that a billionaire had purchased the oldest standing team in formula one. let alone an avenger."
we now see christian horner in front of the camera, “i think i’m more so upset about the fact that ferrari will now be able to steal the championship from us. if there’s one thing i know about tony stark is that he is one competitive son of a bitch. there will be no more half-assed pit stops and strategies from ferrari, that you can count on. and with his daughter as one of the race engineers and a lead engineer, that car is going to be a rocket ship. it just means the rest of us will have up our game.”
toto wolff sits in front of the camera, replacing christian horner, “this is not the first time someone has purchased a formula one team. i do not know why they are acting like this is a first. yes, ferrari will be difficult to beat next year. they will know what they are doing, but we will not give up without a fight. next year will be an interesting year for us all.”
Tumblr media
in front of the camera now sits tony stark, his signature blue tinted glasses sit on his face. he smiles at someone off camera, before turning to the producer, "need me to take off the glasses?"
"if you would," the producer answered, "name and title please."
tony looks at the camera, "my name is tony stark and i am the new owner of scuderia ferrari's formula one team. oh! and i am iron man!"
"mr. stark, what led you to purchase the team?"
tony clears his throat, "my mother was italian and a big tifosi, she bled rosso corsa proudly. she never got the opportunity to see michael schumacher lead the team to the greatness he did. i kept up with the team in her memory, and in recent years the team hadn't been performing as well as a fan would've liked. i knew the current drivers, charles and carlos, were championship material. that much was obvious to me when sainz became the only non red bull driver to win a race in the 2023 season. for leclerc, well, there's a reason they call him il predestinato right? he won monza his maiden year with ferrari, that alone put him into the tifosi's good books. speaking of, i knew they were furious and after austin, i knew something had to be done. and if nobody else was going to do it, i was, so i bought the team."
"how confident are you that you can restore ferrari's old glory?"
"i trust my drivers and i trust my team, i think that says enough."
Tumblr media
in front of the camera now sits an old face. sebastian vettel smiles brightly at the producer. the last time they had seen him he was in a green shirt and he looked tired, but the time away did him some good. he's happier now and back in ferrari red, back where he had started when the show first began.
"did you ever think you'd be back here?" the producer asked him. sebastian smiled, "honestly, no. i had left this all behind and i told myself i was never going to return to this sport. but when an opportunity like this comes around, you don't say no."
"are you happy with this new position or would prefer to be back in the car?"
"i'm happy with my job now."
“do you think you can help restore ferrari to its old glory?”
“yes,” sebastian quickly answers, “in the past ferrari had been stuck dwelling too much on its history. being stuck in the past for so long leads to no results. it leads to people demanding your first driver leave the team after constantly getting screwed over. we want the championship back in maranello and we will take it back. next year ferrari will put up one hell of a fight.”
“you’ve got a great team mr. vettel.”
“i know, i don’t plan on wasting it.”
Tumblr media
charles smiles brightly at the camera, “hello.”
“hi charles,” the producer replies, “do you mind telling us what your first thought were when you heard the team had been bought? how did you find out?”
“i found out on twitter along with everyone else,” charles replied, “my first reaction was to text carlos to see if he knew, he was just as shocked as i was. no one had informed us the team had been bought much less who it had been bought by.”
“and how did you find out the team had been bought by tony stark?”
“when there was an emergency meeting called at maranello right before abu ahabi. carlos and i walked in to the factory and it felt like a different environment, people were excited and whispering to each other. you can imagine our surprise when we walked in to that meeting to see seb sitting with tony stark of all people.”
“i imagine it was a big shock?”
“yes,” charles answered, “mr. stark explained to us what he had done and told us that we should be expecting a whole new team when we arrived back from the final race of the season. it is exciting to know that things are changing.”
"is change a good thing?"
"in this case, it is. things needed to change if ferrari wants to be a championship contender once again. and this will be good for my friendship with carlos."
"are things strained between you two?"
"the truth? yes," charles replied, "it is difficult to go online and see people saying that you don't deserve your seat or that your teammate is better simply because he won a race when you haven't been able to do that this season. it places a sort of- tension? is that the word?" he looks at someone off camera, the person must nod because he turns to face the camera again, "carlos and i are good drivers, there is a reason we are formula one drivers. but the team, it has- it pit us against each other, that was what strained our friendship."
"what are your wishes for this upcoming season?"
"to win the championship." charles laughs.
Tumblr media
carlos looks at someone off camera, nodding at whatever they're saying, before turning to look at the producer, "hello," carlos greeted.
"hello carlos," the producer greeted, "can you tell us what your initial reaction was to learning the team had been bought?"
"i was shocked, i did not think it was possible for someone to buy the team, it's ferrari. but i also felt a bit relieved? i hope maybe things will change and we can have a decent shot at the championship."
"relieved? i don't think i've heard that one yet."
carlos chuckled, "my friendship with charles was strained after this season. i hope that with mr. stark as an owner we are able to put aside our work and our friendship to achieve the goal we have in common. to bring the championship back to ferrari."
"is it difficult to separate work and life off the track?"
"sometimes, yes. after singapore was when our friendship truly hit rock bottom. i think it was difficult for us to accept that only one of us was the 1st driver. everyone knows that it's charles, it has been since 2021, but i think after a while it was difficult for me to accept that. he's- charles is loved by the tifosi, he's loved by everyone because he's charles leclerc. sometimes it is difficult to be his teammate knowing people will always see me as second best."
"i see."
"i love the kid, trust me, i do. i value his friendship very much, but sometimes it is difficult. with stark as the owner, and sebastian as the new team principal, i am hoping things will change. even if charles is still first driver, i hope i am not treated as second best by my own team. sometimes change is good, this time i think it is."
"what are your wishes for this upcoming season?"
"to win the championship." carlos answers.
Tumblr media
will buxton is in front of the camera once again, "it will certainly be entertaining to see what ferrari manage to do next season. the lingering question that remains is, will the starks live up to the hype surrounding this purchase? i guess we'll just have to wait and see."

Hello! I hope you’ve been well, I was wondering if I could request Astarion with a larger chested Tav who gets insecure when people say something about it/ogle her? Maybe Gale accidentally says something (like when you wear Haarleps outfit) and Astarion gets protective of her.
(i accidentally made gale gross. SORRY LMAO)
*
You and your companions huddled together in heated discussion as you tried to find a way through the man guarding the door that didn't include violence and breaking the whole building into a fight.
“Maybe there's another way in that Fangs missed,” Karlach offered.
Astarion scoffed. “I was very thorough in my scan of the building, thank you very much.”
You grimaced and pulled out your pouch of gold. A few measly coins. Barely enough to make the bag jingle. “Not enough for a bribe,” you said glumly.
You and your group sighed.
“Maybe we don't need the book that badly,” Karlach said, ready to give up.
Gale bristled. “There is no way we're leaving without that book. I'm sure it will hold secrets about the Absolute. Why do you think this building is such an impenetrable fortress?”
You exchanged glances with Astarion and he only offered a shrug. You huffed and opened your bag to take stock of your potions and fighting supplies.
“I guess we just have to do what we do best,” you said.
“Hold on…” Gale said. “What if we tried a different kind of bribe?”
You raised your brow. “I'm not sure we have much to offer. Some health potions and a couple gold pieces won't be much to win anyone over.”
“Not a bribe of objects, but maybe you could…” Gale trailed off and you furrowed your brow in confusion.
“I could what?”
Gale stepped closer to you and lowered his voice, causing Astarion to stand straighter, his eyes narrowing at the wizard. He had a feeling he wouldn't like what Gale was about to say.
“You know,” Gale said suggestively, making a cupping gesture in front of his own chest.
Your eyes widened in realisation and you stepped away from the wizard.
“Gale!” You admonished, crossing your arms over your chest and looking down.
Yes you were desperate to get inside and yes you often attracted unwanted attention because of your large chest but you never thought one of your party members, one of your friends would ever suggest using your body as an object.
You felt tears brimming in your eyes as silence befell the four of you. Astarion bristled and stepped in front of you, jabbing an accusatory finger to Gale's chest.
“How dare you make such a suggestion?” Astarion hissed.
Karlach stepped back with an uncomfortable look on her face while Gale looked back at Astarion in confusion.
“What do you mean?”
Astarion grinded his teeth. “Do you think she wants to offer her body up like some kind of whore for you so you can have your little book?”
Gale's eyes widened. “N-no, I-”
“You better get on your way back to camp right now before I hit you,” Astarion warned.
You looked up and gasped, moving to grab Astarion's arm. “Astarion it’s-”
His white curls bobbed as he whipped his head around to look at you. “If you say ‘it’s okay’ and ‘don't worry about it,’ I will be very upset with you.”
You gulped as you remembered why Astarion would be so upset at Gale's suggestion and you cringed.
You pursed your lips and looked down before crossing your arms over your chest again.
Astarion turned back to Gale and nodded to the road back to camp. “Off you go.”
Gale tried to make eye contact with you to plead his case but he caught sight of Astarion flexing his hand into a fist and stepped back with his hands up in surrender.
“Come on,” Karlach said, guiding Gale back to camp ahead of you and Astarion.
You heard Gale begin complaining to Karlach about the book and the guard and how unfair Astarion is as they walked away.
Astarion turned back to look at you but you couldn't meet his gaze.
“Thanks,” you whispered softly, not trusting your voice.
“You don't have to thank me for anything,” Astarion murmured before stepping forward and wrapping you in a hug.
You slid your arms around him as he pulled you in and you nuzzled your face into his chest. You felt numb, unsure what to say or where to even begin about what had just happened.
“Do you think he was serious?” You whispered, your voice thick with sadness and embarrassment. The shock of the moment after what Gale had said finally began to give way to sadness. Did your companions just see you for your large chest? Could they see past that for the other things you offered?
“Forget about that moron,” Astarion said into your hair. “I've got you, you'll never do anything like that. Especially when I'm around.”
You let a small half smile creep onto your face. “I'd like to go back to camp and get into bed,” you said, looking up at Astarion.
“Of course, my friend,” Astarion said.
He stepped around and kept his arm over your shoulders as you walked, as if he were protecting you from anyone around you. It warmed your stomach and the sting of what had just happened began to slowly fade in Astarion's protective presence.
“What are we going to do about Gale's book?” You asked as you slowly wandered back.
Astarion huffed at the mention of the wizard’s name. “He can come up with his own plan to get in there that doesn't include me or you if he wants that stupid book so badly.”
“But the Absolute…”
Astarion stopped you both and gently gripped your shoulders, leveling you with a serious look. “Nothing is worth you dealing with boot munchers like Gale. Nothing. We'll find another way to deal with the Absolute. Okay?”
You nodded and smiled, causing Astarion to give you a smile back. “That's more like it,” he said.
You made it back to camp and you saw that Gale's tent was closed shut which you were thankful for. You couldn't deal with him right now.
Astarion separated himself from you and turned to you. “If he,” Astarion gestured his head to Gale's tent, "or anyone else gives you any sort of trouble, come straight to me.”
You nodded and he tucked your hair behind your ear. “That’s a good girl. Now go get some rest,” he said before turning away for his own tent.
Your eyes widened at the comment and you blushed and gulped before speed-walking back to your own tent with your hands over your face.
You plopped onto your bedroll and stopped yourself from squealing like a schoolgirl at how protective Astarion had been over you today. You took a deep breath and calmed down but couldn't stop the fluttering in your stomach at remembering how fiercely he had defended you. You needed to figure out a way to properly thank him.

You hadn’t been allowed to help with clean up after dinner, Lucky had promptly shooed you out of the kitchen and given Gab the task of distracting you so you didn’t try and sneak back in to help. You liked to think that you knew the men pretty well at this point, you were going on four weeks of living with them. Well, the same could be said for them. They knew the first chance you had, you would put yourself to work. So Gab had dragged you to Shanks room to play a hand of cards or two, however many it took for the dirty dishes to be done.
Gin rummy was one of the first games the men had taught you to whittle time away at sea. You… were not very good at the game. It was a skill based card game and since you were still so new at it, you really didn’t have any skill at all! You let out a soft growl and nearly threw down your cards in frustration.
“This is pointless,” You complained, dipping your head back and glaring at the ceiling of Shanks cabin. It seemed that no matter who you played against, you always ended up losing! “Who even invented this game?”
“No idea, but you’ll get better with practice,” Gab stated, laying out yet another winning hand. You groaned and slumped in place. “And the point is money, Aria. Gambling. Earning a quick Berry.”
“Or losing a quick Berry.” You huffed out, knowing that gambling was a very treacherous game that many a men and woman lost themselves in. You’d seen it from the shadows of Bonn Manor after your mother held a ball. Card games and drinking were a popular event post dancing and you hadn’t understood the passing of Berry at the time… but you did now. Seeing your expression move to one that was far away, Gab prompted you.
“Aria?” He called, pausing in shuffling the cards. You blinked and forced yourself away from the memories of Bonn Manor.
“Sorry what were we saying?” You questioned, your eyes fluttering and fingers drumming on the table. Gab squinted at you.
“I lost you for a moment, what is it? What were you thinking about?” He pushed, not liking how you seemed to relapse into your shell for a few brief moments. You pressed your lips together. “Aria?”
“I was just—” You cut yourself off and took a deep breath. “My mother liked to hold monthly balls in Bonn Manor. Card games were a popular activity after dancing, I never understood why they passed Berry around. At least not until now. It seems to frivolous and wasteful, gambling Berry like it was mere pocket change.”
Gab went back to shuffling the cards, listening to your words and pleased that you were opening up more. He and the rest of the crew knew the basics of your situation, and what kind of personality you had,  but no one had heard much about your past. This was the first time you were openly offering to speak about it.
“Did she ever let you participate?” Gab asked, having a feeling that the answer would be no since you had no idea how Gin rummy worked when they first introduced it to you. You softly snorted, remembering the strict timeline your mother enforced.
“No, once the dancing was finished she always declared that I was in need of retiring to my rooms early. She likes to boast that I spend most of my time practicing how to be a lady. Practicing stitching, etiquette, history. I was a dutiful daughter that strived to be the perfect offspring.” The was a bitter note in your voice and the corner of your mouth twitched. “I only know of what went on behind the sitting room doors because I snuck through the servants halls once.”
“Once?”
“I got caught,” You replied, remembering the week you had spent recovering after your mother had beaten you to what had felt like one lash away from death. You’d never tried anything like that ever again. The flashbacks of the welts and bruises haunted you, even to this day. You had never seen your mother so angry. You reached for the stack of cards, taking them from Gab. “It’s my turn to deal.”
Tumblr media
Dinner had passed and the dishes washed, so the men were all laying low for the night. Either nursing a beer, sharpening a blade, or practicing some fancy trick, they had cleared out from the main deck. You had been sitting in one of the lounge chairs reading a book Benn had lent you when Shanks approached. Your gaze lifted from the words in front of you and you smiled pleasantly.
“I thought you would have retired yourself to whatever it is that you do at night,” You spoke, observing the red haired man. You were fairly sure that he had mentioned needing to talk to Building Snake about the Red Force’s current course. “Or at least be busy speaking to Snake about our current course.”
“I did talk to Snake,” Shanks replied, leaning against the railing of the ship. “It turned out to be a simple adjustment with the log pose, weather ahead we want to avoid. As for why I am not returning to my latest book, I’m making good on my promise.” Your eyebrow arched at his mention of a promise, and Shanks offered you his hand. “You are going to want to change into something easy to move in for this.”
Wracking your brain for the promise Shanks had supposedly made to you, you closed your book and took his hand. Shanks effortlessly pulled you to your feet and pulled you in the direction of his cabin.
“What promise are you talking about exactly and why do I need to change clothes?” Shanks glanced back at you, lips twitching at the puzzlement on your face.
“You wanted to learn how to use a sword did you not?” Shanks spoke, raising his own eyebrow. “Now’s a good time, full moon with lots of light and the men are settling down for the night so you won’t have an audience. You are going to want to wear something that lets you move around, your pants are a good option. Also, you won’t want a loose shirt, the fabric might get in the way.”
Stopping in front of the door to the cabin, you stared at Shanks with raised eyebrows. He sure got bossy on occasion. Not that you minded. You found it a rather attractive trait of his. Stop it Aria. Clearing your throat, you reached for the door and looked back at Shanks.
“Pants and a non loose shirt, I think Anna picked out some clothing items that match that description. Mentioned it was good for working out, but I have no idea how to work out so…”
“We’ll get there eventually,” Shanks replied before leaving you to change. You watched him disappear before entering the cabin and shutting the door behind you. You hadn’t been able to try out the clothes Anna had said were good for working out yet, and were excited to try something new yet again. Trotting over to your trunk of clothing, you carefully pulled out folded stacks of clothes until you found what you were looking for: a tank top, sports bra, and comfortable cloth pants.
Stripping yourself out of your day clothes, you wrestled yourself into the sports bra and were surprised to find that while it felt constricting, it didn’t make you feel like you were being suffocated. Further pleased with your new clothes, you pulled on the soft pants and admired the fact that the cloth hugged your skin close. You had never seen your legs like this before and felt a sliver of shyness. But you had seen many woman out and about wearing pants like this and even more revealing clothing, so nothing about your outfit was unfit to be worn.
“Stop being such a prude,” You muttered yourself, putting your arms through the armholes of the tank and dragging it over your head. The tank was loose, but not too loose. It was just airy enough that you were sure that you wouldn’t over heat doing whatever vigorous activities working out constituted as. Knowing Shanks, he wasn’t going to overwork you (he certainly still thought you could do with more meat on your bones), you still liked the idea of dressing for the occasion. Some things never change. Since you were going to learning how to use a sword, you figured that it was probably in your best interest to put on your shoes, sneakers rather than your sandals. It would be doubtful Shanks would even humor you wielding a blade with your feet vulnerable, kitchen knifes aside.
Reaching for a hair band, you pulled back your shoulder length lavender hair to keep it out of the way and to stop it from blowing in your eyes. After you had cut it, you had realized that without tying it off, the strands had a habit of flying into your face. Humming to yourself, you slipped out of the main cabin and went in search of Shanks. It was dark out now, but the hanging lanterns on the ship gave off plenty of light. Looking around, you searched for Shanks but couldn’t find him anywhere on the main deck. Perhaps he had migrated to the weather deck?
Walking over to the stairs leading to the upper level deck, you climbed them to see Shanks standing in the middle of the deck, sword in hand. The lights from the lanterns highlighted his red hair as he swung his sword around methodically and with acute precision. You were fascinated with the way it looked like the sword was attached to his hand, and the way his body moved… He had probably been practicing his whole life! Shanks flicked his wrist over his head while turning, and immediately halted in place.
“Aria,” He called, automatically lowering the sword from your direction and promptly sheathing it at his side. “I can say you finally managed to sneak up on me.” He spoke while drinking in what you were wearing. It was by far the most revealing of clothes you had worn to date, trousers that hugged your legs, a tank top that clearly showed your shoulders… and he’d better stop staring at your body. He looked back into your eyes. “Are you ready?”
“Yes, though it is hard to be ready for something I have no knowledge of.” You answered, your brows scrunching as you tried to imagine exactly what went into learning how to wield a sword.
“The fact that you are thinking about it makes you ready.” Shanks said before walking over to the cutlass he’d picked out for you. He picked it up, once again checking its weight and balance, before turning around and offering the handle to you. Your eyes fluttered at the man just handing you a sword before telling you about them, before gingerly reaching for the hilt and grasping it in an awkward pinch of your fingers.
“This sword isn’t nearly as heavy as I thought it would be,” You commented, moving the blade around to get a better look at the sharpened edge.
“First things first,” Shanks began, “Terminology. This is a cutlass, it’s a short sword that is good for quick movements, typically slashing. Not intended for thrusting or stabbing, but slashing. Quick and easy, makes for an easy get away.” You narrowed your eyes.
“Are you insinuating that I will be looking for fights, Captain?” You half heartedly accused, Shanks snorted at you and moved to stand next to you.
“Perhaps not looking for them, but they might go looking for you,” He corrected you, reaching over with his hand to show you the correct way to hold the cutlass. “You are slight in stature still and it would be in your best interest to use that to your advantage. Being large isn’t always an advantage.”
“And here I was under the assumption that men were of the belief that bigger is better,” Your words slipped from your lips smoothly and with the way your eyelashes flickered as you blinked innocently, Shanks was half convinced you knew exactly what you were speaking of, and it wasn’t size. Don’t open that can of worms Shanks. He cleared his throat and continued.
“Have you ever heard the phrase the bigger you are the harder you fall? Use your size to your advantage. Big doesn’t always equate strength, but big doesn’t equate slowness either…” A dismal point he was making.
“So I should simply be faster?” You offered, your mind thinking about size and speed. A light weight sword would move quick, unhindered by weight. Shanks smiled, already knowing that your mind would keep you out of trouble if you ever did get into trouble.
“Precisely,” He said, his smile turning into a grin. “You are smart and you are fast, having a blade to match will be far more fitting than a heavy broadsword. Now you want to hold it like this, and not grip it too tight. You’ll get cramps up your arm if you do.” From there, Shanks fingers directed your own to wrap around the hilt of the cutlass, showing you how to properly hold it, and how to treat it while wielding it.
He stood behind you and reached out with his arm to show you the motions he wanted you to practice, not intentionally swinging the cutlass but moving your entire arm. He made a point that you should never fight with your wrist, because you could injure yourself, and that the golden rule of learning how to wield a sword, was that it was an extension of your arm. It was getting to the point where your arm was beginning to ache from all the repetitive swings you had been doing, and Shanks decided to switch you to some footwork. So he brought out a broom and began poking at you. You clearly didn’t appreciate the sudden prodding and swiftly moved out of range every time he made a jab at you.
“This is entirely unfair!” You exclaimed, dodging another poke from the broom handle while Shanks grinned at you. You were adorably angry and of course, still held the cutlass in your hand. But you refused to swing back at him in revenge and just continued to dodge!
“Wouldn’t be if you swung that sword at me,” He teased you, swiping at your side. You growled when the broom tapped you and glared at the pirate clearly trying to egg you into swiping the cutlass at his body. “You’re not going to hurt me,”
“Shanks!” You hissed at him when he caught your arm with a tap. Your legs were staring to feel heavy from all the prancing around you had been doing and since you weren’t used to this much exercise, your stamina was running on empty. “If I was the one with that broom I swear I would—” You tripped over your own feet dodging the broom and mid twist, began falling backwards with a yelp. Shanks was reacting before you even had a chance to register that he had moved.
The broom drooped from his grasp as his arm shot to your falling body. He swung you around to brace your body against his but in a twist of legs, you both ended up falling backwards. Shanks, at the very least, was glad that he was going down first and could cushion your fall. So hitting the deck, he made sure that you landed on him rather than hard wood. You did with a slight ‘oof’, but thankfully no sounds of pain.
“… I think I’ve reached my limit for the night, lest I stumble overboard.” You spoke after a few moments of silence. Shanks chuckled and gave your waist a light squeeze.
“And you think that I wouldn’t immediately go right after you?” He replied, only antagonizing the pitter patter of your heart further. Oh when you say things like that Shanks… You bit your lip and went to roll to the right so you weren’t still lying on top of the red haired man. He stopped you the moment he got a glimpse of your lower back from your tank riding up. You felt his fingers trace your skin where you once had mottled marks from your mother’s lashing. All that remained were slight echoes of trauma. Marks that would fade in time. Time he wished you didn’t have to wait on.
“It doesn’t hurt anymore,” You reassured him, rolling back onto your back next to him and twisting your head to look into his eyes. You were still tucked against his side and had a brief thought that it felt nice to be there. Only in your deepest of dreams, Linaria. “They stopped hurting two weeks ago.”
“You should never have been hurt in the first place, Aria,” Shanks softly answered, his eyes a storm of conflicting emotions. He still couldn’t understand how a mother could beat her own child to the point blotched bruises that had taken weeks to heal. How could any mother beat her child?
“No,” You agreed, “But what happened is in the past, and I only wish to look to the future. You gave me that.” Your words were only partially comforting because the longer you stayed on the Red Force, the more he didn’t want to see you go and the more he wanted to continue to protect you. But he’d put those thoughts aside for tonight and simply enjoy the time spent with you during your first lesson.
“As you wish madam,” He finally spoke up, making you roll your eyes once more before looking straight up at the stars.
“They seem especially bright tonight,” You commented, making no motion to move away from his side. Shanks turned his head to admire the stars along with you, enjoying your chosen closeness and comfort. It wasn’t until Shanks arm began to fall asleep from your head resting on his bicep that he realized you had dozed off.

“This isn’t so bad,” Michael argued. “She’s just complaining that she hasn’t met me yet and some other shit that isn’t even true. Why’s that a problem?”
Alex shook her head as she scrolled on her phone. Her eyes did not even leave her phone screen as she spoke, her nails furiously tapping across the glass screen. “It’s not what she said that’s the problem. It’s that she’s talking at all… the only things I want to see in the media about the two of you are cute photos from date night, not tell alls from family members. Does she know about your… previous career?”
This was the first time his manager had even directed a question at Raven, who had sat silently since they arrived. She was so angry that she could not even revel in the fact that she was at Michael’s house for the first time, not regulated to her usual place in his bachelor pad. She thought being invited to this intimate part of his life would make her happier. But instead of feeling joy and welcomed, she merely felt like a burden. She was only there out of necessity to fix the crisis her own sister created.
This is why you can never be more, she reminded herself. Paris had started to rip out the weeds of doubt that grew in her soul, siphoning away the power of the notion that they could not be more. It had made her fall deeper in love with him, made her seriously ponder whether his feelings for her stretched into deeper territory.. But this? This reminded her of a sickening fact.
No matter how many trips he charted for her, gifts he showered her with, or kindness he showed, she did not belong here with him in the real world. It was as if every intimate detail of his home and his real life that she saw screamed at her that she was out of place, punching above her weight, and needed to return to where she belonged: the outskirts of his life in the condo where he took one-night stands and flings that meant nothing once the sun rose. Because as soon as their arrangement was done, she would be nothing to him again. And while Paris had made her feel like she could still win in the ring, now she felt as if she was merely being punched right back down where she belonged.
“No. Well… she doesn’t know about the prostitution. But… I always thought she figured out I was a stripper somehow.”
Alex, who previously had been engrossed in her phone, lifted her head in surprise. “You were a stripper too? Would’ve been nice to know before now,” she muttered under her breath.
Raven’s long stiletto nails bit into the palm of her hand as she tried not to let one comment push her right off the cliff she was teetering on. She knew Alex was not intending to be judgmental but that did not stop her from feeling the sting of it. Every choice she made in her life since the moment she came into the world seemed to be a bad one for everyone else. She could not do anything right.
“I was a 19 year old with no skills who needed to pay for college. I wasn’t facing a fucking mountain of options. So I did the best I could with a shitty situation... Sorry my choices as a desperate teenager are making your job so difficult,” Raven snapped.
“I didn’t me-”
“Alex.” Michael’s stern voice cut through the budding tension, stealing the words right out of Alex’s mouth. Michael’s dominance and power seemed to have an effect on everyone, though Raven suspected it was because he was not the type to abuse it. Alex immediately let the rest of her sentence fade away, opting to apologize instead.
Michael’s eyes had not left Raven’s body since they got in the car. He hated how her eyes actively avoided him, he had been unable to look in her beautiful brown eyes for over an hour and that killed him. They were the most expressive part of her, windows into her soul and every feeling she had. She shied away from his comforting touch in the car so he kept his distance but even still, he could see how her entire frame trembled ever so slightly. Her furrowed brow… her silence. God, her silence was so deafeningly loud in his ears. He was not used to it. Even if it was awkward ramblings, she was rarely silent with him. This was a side of her he had never seen. It was not sadness or resignation, he had seen both of those, and she seemed to be able to push through those just fine. No, this was something else and it was red hot and all consuming to the point where he could tell she could not hide it. It was a far cry from the woman who was sound asleep on his shoulder on the plane two hours prior.
“I’m sorry,” Alex raised her hands. “I’m sorry. I’d never judge anyone for doing what they need to. I just need to know what else your sister could say.”
“She has no proof… just speculation. But that’s it. She doesn’t know anything about my life now… we aren’t close.”
At first, she had immediately handed Alex back her phone, uninterested in reading whatever lies her sister decided to spew. However, when Michael summarized it for her, the notions in it were so absurd, she had to read them for herself. She instantly wished she had not.
It was as dramatic as it was false, her sister complaining about how Raven had changed and alienated her own family since her romance with the superstar had begun. She spun a web of tall tales about how Raven never spoke to them anymore, how close they once were and how much the family missed her, how Raven had told them Michael was too busy to meet them. By the time Raven got to the end of the article, she was shaking.
She supposed the silver lining was that the article was more of a personal attack on her character than their relationship, which she was used to from her sister. She just had not expected her sister to drag it into the public eye like this. And while reading her words agitated some of her deepest wounds, they fueled more anger in her than any other emotion. Anger was not an emotion Raven often felt where her family was concerned. Slight frustration, sadness, hurt, guilt? She felt all of those often but she was used to it and often brushed them off. But true anger? That was rare, or rather, it was rare that she let herself feel true anger. And now, it hit her as high, powerful waves crashing against her shores.
“So she’s just lookin’ for her 15 minutes. Fine. But she can’t say anything else, this’s gotta be it.”
“Who cares if she mouths off to the media?” Michael asked. He knew why Alex cared and why he should care. But at that moment, all he could actually care about was minimizing this for Raven’s sake. He knew her well enough to know that the only person she would blame for this was herself, not her idiot sister. And it seemed to him that she blamed herself for far too much where her family was concerned. He did not want to add another unnecessary thing to that list. Nor did he want her to feel the burden of this because she was quite the opposite of a burden to him and he would clean up 100 PR nightmares for her without a second thought. They had taken 10 steps forward in Paris, walls came crumbling down for both of them. If he did not fix this fast, Raven would retreat 15 steps back from him and he could not take that.
“That’s not the point! She’s smoke and TMZ knows where there’s smoke, there’s a fuckin’ fire. And y’all two and this whole situation is a damn forest fire. We don’t need TMZ or a fuckin’ Inspector Gadget head ass Tik Toker to look into Raven’s life or past anymore than they already have. So you need to shut her up now. Is she a fan of his or somethin?”
Raven scoffed. “If wanting to add him to her list of fuck buddies means she’s a fan then sure… she’s a fan.” Her anger meant she could not hide the bitterness in her voice, could not pretend to have a kind word to say about her sister who seemed to take joy in going out of her way to ruin all the good things in her life.
“Well, that shit definitely ain’t happenin’,” Michael stated with a growl.
“I mean, no nigga, I wasn’t gonna suggest you fuck her sister.” Alex rolled her eyes.
“Maybe we s-should just end this. I’m causing more problems than I’m fixing.” Raven’s voice was so quiet, Michael almost did not hear her. It hurt her heart to even consider it but Paris had rubbed her raw, left her and her emotions exposed in ways she had not experienced in a long time. And she had not minded that at first, she savored the closeness and vulnerability with another person. But now, all of her emotions felt dialed up by ten in that vulnerability and that overwhelmed her. She was overwhelmed by the rage she felt at her family for trying to use Michael the way they used her. She thought she couldn’t ruin him but she felt as if she already was. “I’m r-ruining everything…”
Michael’s heart stopped, his head shaking vehemently before any words could even escape his lips. “What? No… why would we do that?”
Raven’s head fell into her hands as she let out a frustrated and strangled sigh that sounded like a sob.
“Ok, let’s all take a breath. I’m sorry, I probably made this seem like a bigger deal than it is. We don’t need to stop or end it if you aren’t ready to. This is still a good plan, no one is ruining anything. We can fix this. We just need to give her what she wants. If you just meet her, take a picture with her, get her tickets to a high profile event or party or whatever she wants, then maybe she’ll settle down and keep her mouth shut.”
“She won’t,” Raven mumbled to no one in particular.
“Everyone has a price and we just need to find hers,” Alex continued texting on her phone.
“She won’t because she’s an attention seeking bitch. She’s never had a real job or ambition or anything going for her and just takes and takes and takes from everyone with no thought. I can give her the fucking world and she’ll come back with her hand still out!” Raven exploded, jumping up from her seat as the words escaped her lips before she could even hope to stop them. She buried her face in her hands and turned away from both of them as she heard them in the space, instantly regretting them. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry.”
Michael sighed and gestured toward the door, Alex walking out of the room with him. He closed the door behind them.
“So I take it there’s some bad blood there?” Alex asked as she leaned on the door.
“Lots of it. You know how family shit is… lots of heavy ass baggage there. Let me talk to her and I’ll call you tonight with a game plan. I think she just feels betrayed and upset and needs to process all that.”
“Understood,” Alex raised her hands in surrender. “Take your time, give her what she needs. Sorry this had to happen as soon as you came back. She seemed really happy when y’all got off the plane, I didn’t mean to ruin it.”
Michael shook his head. “Doing your job isn’t ruining anything. But my guess is the timing of this, on her sister’s part, wasn’t random. Sucks too… the past week was the most relaxed I’ve ever seen her, first time she seemed actually happy.” Michael stared through the glass panels of his office door to watch her. He could see the tension in her shoulders from all the way over here, could tell they were shaking slightly from silent tears.
He turned away to look back at Alex whose eyes were big with shock.
“What?”
“You’re in love with her.”
“Alexxxx…” he dragged out her name, his manager scoffing and dragging him by the arm further away from the door.
“Don’t insult my intelligence, Bakari. I’ve run a couple PR relationships in my time and most fail miserably. Been trying to figure out why this one seems to be working so well… I knew it wasn’t cause you’re that good of an actor, no shade. It’s because you… Michael Bakari Jordan love her. You’re not having to play for the cameras because you’re actually in love with her. Look me in my eyes and tell me I’m wrong.”
Michael sucked his teeth. “I love her.” He admitted. “And I know what you’re gonna say… it can’t work and it’s stupid and I’ll need to end it like we always planned. I know, I got it.”
He started to move past her when her hand grabbed his bicep to stop him.
“I was actually gonna say that I’m happy for you. Been waiting for you to wise up and find someone for real. If she’s what you want, I support it and you 100%. And we can figure out how to spin it.” She jerked her head back toward the office. “Go take care of your girl. Call
me later.”
They shared a hug before Michael disappeared back into the office. Raven sniffled and quickly wiped her tears away before standing up and walking over to him. She tried to put a positive look on her face and tone in her voice as she spoke.
“I’m sorry… that outburst was m-mean and totally unnecessary. And not helpful. She’s right, we need a game plan and everything. Where’s Alex? I want to apologize and then I can fix this.”
He perched on the edge and widened his stance so he could pull her in between his legs. His arm wrapped around her waist as he pulled her into his chest. He did not like how she braced her forearms against his chest to avoid fully melting into his embrace.
“I don’t need you to do anything and Alex doesn’t need an apology. She’s fine. I care more about whether you’re good or not. You’re upset.”
She shook her head. “I’m not upset.”
Michael raised an eyebrow. “You just called your sister an attention seeking bitch. Ain’t gon’ hear an argument from me but that’s not like you. You’re pissed, rightfully so. Tell me why though, don’t bottle that shit up.”
Raven stared at him for a moment, her mouth opening and closing a couple times as she tried to find the words to tell him. Tell him that she was near out of relentless hope and optimism, that a not-so-small part of her hated her sister and wished she never had to see her again, that she wanted to cut her and her dad out of her life completely but she wasn’t brave enough to be truly alone so she couldn’t, that a bigger part of her wanted to call TMZ and tell them all about how horrible her family has been to her her entire life, that it cut deeper than she imagined it would to read her sister describe a relationship between them that had always been her dream but she actively denied her. She wanted to tell him that she was tired, that she felt guilty and ashamed for dragging him into this mess, that she didn’t deserve his care and kindness because all she had done was ruin his life.
It was all too much, the avalanche of emotions she felt picked up speed and power with every moment she stood in his presence. And she needed it to stop, needed to throw up some type of blockade so she was not run over and drowned by it. She needed walls again, barriers. And the only way she could think to recreate those was to put both physical and emotional distance between herself and the man in front of her. He was the only person who forced her to exist in her vulnerability, to feel everything and not shy away from it. But that was dangerous. She was not built for it. Once the avalanche hit, she knew she would not get back up. So, she had to get out.
So she did the only thing she could think of, she threw up the walls of a working girl. She knew they would not hold for long, not with his persistence, but they would hold long enough for her to reign it all in again. Long enough for her to lock her feelings back up in their cage where they belonged.
“I’m not angry.” Her tone left no room for argument as she pried herself out of his embrace and walked back to the couch to grab her bag off the floor. “I’m not angry. Kiara’s not a… bad person. She’s just… Kiara’s the Sun and I imagine the Sun would be upset if Pluto tried to steal its spotlight too. She’s the center of my family’s world and she hates it when it seems like I’m trying to take that away. It’s fine. I’ll give her whatever she needs to feel like the Sun again and that I humbled myself back to my position as Pluto. Everyone wins.” She said it in such a matter-of-fact way that, if he didn’t know her, he would have missed the bitterness in her words.
“You don’t need to pretend with me, Rae. You can be upset.”
“Nothing to be upset about. This is just how it is… I’m used to it. She wants something and she knows I’m gonna give it to her. I’ll call her and figure out what she wants and we’ll fix this.”
She started to fiddle on her phone before Michael pried it out of her hand and threw it on his desk.
“I don’t give a fuck about what your sister wants right now… I care about what you need.”
“I don’t really need anything from you or anyone else right now.” Her words clipped and colder than Michael had ever heard her before. “Least of all a damn therapist.”
Her heart broke at the hurt that flashed across his eyes but she decided that was fine. She needed distance and however she achieved that, even if it was by pushing him away, it would work for her. However, before he could respond, her phone started to buzz loudly on the desk.
“Speak of the devil.” Michael handed Raven her phone back, her sister’s name popping up across the screen.
“Hey Kiara.” She put the phone on speaker phone so Michael could hear.
“I’m surprised you didn’t call me all day, I know you saw the article.”
Raven and Michael shared a knowing glance that made Michael’s blood boil. She had done this just to outshine Raven who had been in the media and tabloids multiple times in the last week from their trip. Michael had guessed that but knowing her sister went to such lengths to diminish her sister bothered him far more than he could describe. Was there no one in his girl’s life that allowed her to shine?
“Yea I saw it. I’m sure you also saw that Michael and I weren’t in the country. We just saw it when we landed about an hour ago.”
“Yea I saw you both... Why didn’t you invite me??”
Raven let out a small huff. “Do you even have a passport?”
“No… but I could’ve gotten one. it's not fair that you get to go while I’m stuck here. And with my favorite actor. All my friends sending me clips of your stories and pictures and shit. And I didn’t even know you were gonna be there. And I had to lie and tell them that you invited me but I couldn’t go. You don’t include me in shit and you keep makin’ me look fuckin’ stupid. You probably didn’t think about me once!”
“I mean no, you weren’t the first thing that came to mind when my boyfriend invited me on a trip to Paris. I’m allowed to have and enjoy experiences on my own. Also no one forced you to lie, who would have expected you to be invited on a trip with me and my boyfriend?”
She heard Kiara scoff on the other side of the phone. “‘My boyfriend,’” she mimicked back. “You better enjoy this lil 15 minutes of fame you’re getting from him cause it won’t last. Ain’t like you’re worth his time. He’ll wise up, realize he needs a real woman, a girl like me.”
“Did you want something?” Raven interrupted, turning her head from Michael so he could not see just how deeply her words cut. She would never argue that she was good enough for the man sitting next to her but hearing someone else validate those insecurities hurt.. Her sister certainly knew which wounds to cut into. “Or was your tell all just to ruin my trip?”
“Oh well… None of this would’ve happened if you had gotten me even one of the things I asked for weeks ago. Like damn, I know he’s busy but he don’t even have a real job. He could come out and met me when I asked.”
Michael’s face twisted up in a look of faux offense that would have been a perfect gif, which made the edges of Raven’s lips curl into a small smile as she stifled her laugh. How did he manage to make her smile even when she felt utterly incapable of the action?
“Acting is a real job, Kiara. And I invited you all here to meet him. But no, I wasn’t gonna ask him to get you a Birkin, I don’t even have a Birkin.”
Michael resisted the urge to cut in and ask her if she wanted one. Because he could easily have one at the house by sunset if she did.
“Dad and I can’t afford to jet set out to LA… the hotels, the food, all that shit. We’re barely getting by as it is.”
Raven rolled her eyes. “Barely getting by” when they both worked and Raven often paid most of the major bills.
As she was talking, Michael gestured for her to mute the phone. “Tell her I’ll pay for the flights and invite them to Thanksgiving.” At Raven’s wary face, Michael just nodded. “Just trust me.”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t realize the price of the flights was the issue. H-how about we pay for the flights and your hotel and… you could come for Thanksgiving this year? Michael’s family are great cooks so it’ll be nice. And you can meet him?”
“Really?? Thanksgiving at Michael’s house?”
“Yea,” the words were almost painful to get out. Part of her wanted to believe this could be a good thing but the more logical part knew that it would not soften anything between all of them. After all, they were not coming to see her, they were coming to gawk at Michael. “But you can’t talk to the media anymore, Kiara. Seriously, you can meet him and everything but you can’t go give a tell all to TMZ or Page Six or any of them anymore. Understand?”
“Fineeeee. No more media. I’ll tell dad. Send me the flight and hotel information. Make sure to put us up somewhere nice… you know like the Ritz or a five-star hotel. And can you have a car for us while we’re there? We’re gonna wanna sightsee and everything.”
“Of course,” she muttered through gritted teeth.
“Ok. See you then, bye.”
Raven clenched her phone in her hand, resisting the urge to chuck it across the room.
“Damn, sis’s got expensive taste,” Michael muttered.
Raven’s laugh was cold and humorless. “It’s easy to have expensive taste when it’s not your money. You sure about this? Thanksgiving? Here?”
“What? Thanksgiving is the time people spend with family. We can get a nice group shot and they can feel included. And I’ll get her somethin’ expensive and nice… nothin’ crazy. That’s all she seems to want anyway. Hearing how she talks to you… I don’t want ‘em here anymore than you do but this is the best solution. You had plans or somethin’?”
“No, no… I just didn’t… I didn’t even know I was invited to the Jordan Family Thanksgiving dinner,” she chuckled, pulling at the sleeve of her jacket awkwardly.
Michael’s face twisted up in confusion. “Of course you’re invited. Moms would kill me if I didn’t. But yea I guess I should’ve asked if you had plans first. What do you usually do?”
“Nothing.”
“Nothing?”
“Nothing. I order Chinese and I pick a marathon of movies to watch in bed. Same with Christmas except I usually pick a new recipe to try and I always watch the Grinch,” she chuckled.
“You spend Thanksgiving and Christmas alone?”
She shrugged and gestured toward her phone. “If you had to pick between alone and that, which would you choose?” At his silence, she nodded. “Exactly. They never want to see me anyway so I make it easy on everyone.”
“Well, this year’s gonna be different.”
Raven scoffed. “How so?”
Michael closed the distance between them and rested his hands on her hips. “Well, one, you’ll have me, which means your family will be on their best behavior. If they aren’t, two, you have me and my family as a buffer. And three, you have me… and I ain’t gon’ tolerate disrespect like that in my house. You say the word and dinner’s over.”
“You can’t kick people out of your house for me,” she whispered, her eyes avoiding the intense stare in his.
“Who says I can’t? Thought I’d made that clear by now that I’d do anything for you. And when you’re with me, I’m not just gon’ protect you physically… all of you is safe with me.”
Those walls she threw up? Already starting to crash down around her. Why does he do this to me?? And why can’t I resist it? She thought to herself as she looked at him.
“Thank you. But hopefully, they’ll be on their best behavior and then who knows, maybe they’ll see your family and want to turn a new leaf? This could be good?” In her heart, she knew that would not be how this particular story played out but she had to try… had to hope and dream that it could be different. She studied him for a sign that he agreed, and believed her. But he offered her nothing but a peck on the forehead.
“Yea, maybe.”
They stood there for a moment before Raven felt the overwhelming urge to run again. She hated this feeling… the contrasting emotions of wanting to melt into him and run from him at full speed.
“D-do you think Allen would mind taking me home?”
“I thought you were gonna stay with me tonight?”
“Yea but I thought we were going to the condo… you want me to stay the night… here?”
“I just thought after last week…” he stopped himself. “Here is just more comfortable than the condo. Besides, ma asked if you could stay for dinner so she can meet you. Wouldn’t want to disappoint her, would you?” At her continued expression of speculation, Michael added. “She also has been buggin’ the hell outta me to meet you so honestly, you’d be savin’ my ass.”
Raven smiled and nodded. There was not anything but wallowing and frustration waiting for her back at her own apartment. And she had loved falling asleep in Michael’s arms during the last week. She was not ready to fall asleep alone again.
“Just remember that next time you’re punishing me,” she winked at him.
“Deal.”
***
“Bakari!” Donna called over to Michael who was standing outside with his dad overseeing the fried turkey for dinner.
“What’s up, ma?” He jogged over to her as she continued moving around the kitchen. Michael had offered, as he did every year, to have dinner catered but his mother could not dream of not cooking Thanksgiving dinner with her own two hands. Michael never pressed too hard though because he knew no caterer would ever beat his mom and dad’s cooking.
“I think a certain girl needs your attention more than your father and that turkey,” she gestured toward Raven whose hands were filled with neatly folded napkins as she sat each one on each place setting around their giant farm style table.
Michael’s eyes scanned over her body. He could see the tension in her shoulders but she had been tense since they woke up that morning. She had also been quiet all day, simply getting up and heading down to the kitchen to assist his mother. While she was more than happy for the help and it gave the two a chance to chat and bond, Michael knew Raven’s motives were not completely altruistic. She needed the distraction.
“She’s setting the table, what’s wrong?”
His mother lowered her voice. “She’s set and reset that table 5 times now in between asking me if I need help 100 times and apologizing for her family being late.” She gestured toward the pitcher which held a fall sangria for dinner. “Poor girl’s been on her feet helpin’ me all day and she’s a dream but she needs to relax. Pour her a drink, get her outta my kitchen, and make her sit down till dinner, please?”
“Yes ma’am.” He kissed his mom on the cheek before quickly grabbing a glass and pouring a tall drink before walking over to her.
“I think those napkins will be fine wherever you put them, baby girl,” he whispered in her ear, causing Raven to jump slightly.
She clutched her chest, glancing down at the table setting and set of napkins in her hand. “Sorry… was in my own head. Something about it still doesn’t look right still,” she whispered as she started to rearrange the setting in front of her again.
Michael eyed her for a moment before grabbing the things out of her hand and setting them down. He called for his sister to take over setting the table before grabbing Raven’s hand and pulling her behind him into his bedroom upstairs. He closed the door and handed her the glass.
“Drink.” He instructed.
Raven took a sip before lowering the glass again to hand back to him.
“Nope, drink the whole thing and then tell me why you’re so scared.”
“I’m not scared.”
“Yea you are. Tell me why.” Michael wasn’t dumb. Raven had been off since her family landed in LA, more tense, quieter and not herself. He wished he could get the version of her from Paris back but that woman was buried deep beneath the seemingly never-ending bull her family put her through.
Raven took another big gulp of the drink before sitting on the edge of Michael’s bed, her dress riding up her bare thighs slightly. His eyes sparked with lust but he tempered himself. That was not the point of bringing her up here.
“I’m not… scared. That’s not what it is. I just… Well, first, I’m frustrated because they’re late. I explicitly told them 2 so they could meet everyone and chat and mingle and it’s almost 4. I spent over an hour on that damn charcuterie board. And they haven’t called me or texted or anything. And now your mom probably thinks I was raised by inconsiderate ass wolves.”
“Rae, my mom doesn’t care in the slightest. Food wasn’t gonna be done at 2 anyway so they haven’t missed anything or messed up anything. And you know that. So what’s really bothering you? We aren’t leaving this room til you tell me.”
She sucked her teeth in annoyance before sighing. She knew he would make good on his promise not to let her leave until she was honest.
“I’ve lived in LA for years. Did my masters out here, became a published author here, built a life here and you know how many times I’ve asked them to visit? And the first time they come, it's not even to see me. It’s to meet you. They’ve been in LA for 3 whole days… you know they haven’t made an effort to see me once? Never mind the fact that every restaurant they have a reservation to, we booked. Every excursion, you booked and paid for. And it shouldn’t bother me,” she whispered, throwing the entire drink back before wiping the corner of her lips. “It shouldn’t… bother me. Usually it doesn’t bother me. After all, this’s been it, my whole life. But since I met your family… I see how you are with them a-and I spend time with you all and it’s like breathing in rare fresh air? A-and I dunno, it just… the polluted air is a lot harder to breathe in than it used to be.”
Since they returned from Paris, Raven had become a staple in the Jordan household. They still returned to the condo some nights after dates as it was often easier than getting back to his mansion in the hills. Raven had fallen in love with Michael’s family and it seemed his family had taken quite a liking to her as well. His nephew loved to have Raven read to him as she did the best silly voices, and she, his mom, and sister had already gone out without Michael for manis, pedis, and dinner - with his card, of course.
Raven would never forget their first dinner the night they got back from Paris. She had been in such a bad mood but ten minutes at the table with Michael’s entire family had lightened her spirits significantly. His dad was charming and told stories that had Raven’s muscles aching from laughter; his mom so sweet and spent half the dinner asking questions about Raven’s book after having it finished it while they were away; his brother was quiet but he and Michael’s friendship made her heart want to melt; and his sister was witty and made Raven want to be her friend immediately. Everytime Raven spent time with them, they made her feel like part of the family. And she fell into it, despite her efforts to avoid it, with ease, like she had been part of the fabric for years. It caused some guilt to swell as she remembered that the girl they loved so much was a lie and that she and Michael were deceiving them. However, as her own family continued to disappoint her, it was nice to be a part of something so pure and loving.
“Sorry to interrupt,” Michael’s sister poked her head into the room. “But your family’s car just pulled up.”
Raven immediately stood up and handed the wine glass back to Michael. She went over to the full-length mirror in his room to adjust her outfit and ensure she looked perfect before putting on the most forced smile Michael had ever seen grace her lips.
“Come on, we shouldn’t keep them waiting.”
Michael grabbed her arm to stop her as she tried to walk around him.
“I told myself I’d stay out of it… your family, your rules. But word of advice, if you’ll let me?” When she said nothing, he continued. “People treat you how you allow them. And just because you’ve allowed this disregard for 30 years doesn’t mean you have to allow it now or that you deserve it. It hurts more now because you know you deserve more. And you’ve experienced more. So demand more.”
“And if they don’t give it?” Raven’s voice broke slightly with that question because she knew what his answer would be, what she should have done many years ago but did not have the courage to do.
“Somethin’ isn’t always better than nothin’. Especially when that somethin’ is just dead weight you have to drag around behind you. No one ever got far with dead weight.” He pressed his lips to her forehead, Raven desperately wanting to melt into him and the comfort he provided. He laced his fingers in hers and kissed her hand. “That’s all I’m gonna say. We’re gonna have a good time, promise. You’re with me so you know I gotchu. You ready?”
“Yea, I think so,” she smiled at him before following him out of his room and downstairs.
As they descended the stairs, she was unsurprised to find the deep baritone of her father filling the foyer of Michael’s mansion as he greeted everyone. Raven fixed her face to maintain a smile as she and Michael finally made it to the bottom of the stairs. She could feel her sister’s eyes studying her, taking in her designer dress, the signature red bottoms of her heels, and the diamond necklace and earrings glistening against her skin that Michael had bought her in Paris. It may have been a role, but Raven could not lie, she enjoyed dressing the part of a movie star’s girlfriend more than she thought she would. A petty part of her also did not hate the way her sister’s nose seemed to flare with jealousy at it.
“How y’all doin? I’m Michael?” Michael stepped forward and offered her father and sister a hug.
Raven’s eyes narrowed as her sister tried to linger in the very chaste hug Michael offered. Neither of them acknowledged her as they introduced themselves to Michael and his family, Raven awkwardly teetering on her heels behind him.
“It’s so great to meet you, son. Loved that Tom Clancy movie of yours. Watch it all the time,” her dad boasted as if he was Michael’s greatest fan.
Raven rolled her eyes behind Michael, knowing how much he hated when the first thing out of someone’s mouth when he meets them is their favorite role of his.
“Thank you, thank you. That was a fun one.” Michael reached behind him and pulled Raven to his side. He protectively tucked her under his arm and smiled down at her. “Great girl you have here.”
“Hey dad,” Raven offered, stepping forward to accept the half hug her father offered. She knew it was merely for show but she accepted it anyway. “Kiara,” her tone made her seem far more excited to see both of them than she was. But unlike her family, she was painfully aware of the studious eyes of Michael’s family watching them. And while their foundation had cracks the size of the Grand Canyon in it, she did not want Michael’s family to see them.
Her sister could not even stop eye fucking Michael long enough to give her a hug. She merely nodded in her direction.
Michael, thankfully, ended the awkward silence between the family members by gesturing for everyone to follow him to the kitchen. There, the island was heavily laden with food that his mom deemed ready to serve. Everyone grabbed serving dishes and started helping move things to the table. Seeing an opportunity to grab her father and her sister, Raven pulled them off to the side for a moment while Michael’s family got ready for dinner.
There was an awkward silence as the three of them stood in Michael’s living room before Raven found her voice again. She did not know why she was nervous, this was her family after all.
“Just wanted to see how the trip’s going? A-and ask if y’all had plans tomorrow. Thought maybe, you could come see my apartment? And then maybe we could go hiking to the Hollywood sign, it’s such a nice view of the city. And Michael got us all reservations at a new Japanese spot tomorrow night.”
Kiara turned her nose up at the mere idea. “Hiking?? No. Dad’s taking me shopping tomorrow on Rodeo Drive. It’ll probably take up the whole day, sorry. But dinner with Michael sounds good.”
Raven’s heart deflated a bit. Another outstretched hand pushed away. “Oh… yea of course. Shopping sounds fun. Maybe I could meet you all?”
“That’s ok. We know you’re busy,” her dad interjected, waving his hand to dismiss her suggestion.
“Oh… well, it’s just… you leave Saturday, I wanted to spend some time with y’all before you leave? I tried calling you both, I haven’t seen you all week. I invited you all out here, thought we’d get to at least spend a little time together before you leave.”
“We’re spending time together right now. We’ve been really busy. We came to meet Michael and enjoy the city. That’s what we’ve been doing. Besides, we all know Michael paid for us to come, not you.”
Raven scoffed, already frustrated and they had not been there for more than 5 minutes. She regretted everything about this plan. Her time with Michael’s family, this sanctuary she had found with them in his home, now felt tainted as if their mere presence had poisoned that sweet, fresh air. She knew she should have been more excited to see them, after all, it had been longer than she could remember since she saw them in the flesh. But now, that small part of her that never wanted to see them again only seemed to get larger and larger with every moment she stood in their presence.
Why do you even bother?
“Oh, should I start itemizing everything I’ve paid for in the last decade? Is that the best way to get yall to, you know, actually care to spend time with me? I mean I’ve been asking y’all to come out this way for years. I just thought… since we haven’t really seen each other in a while, this could be a good chance to reconnect. But shopping is more important than me, everything seems to be,” she muttered more to herself than to them. Before her sister could cut in with another smart comment, Raven added. “Can you make sure to thank Michael for this trip you’re enjoying so much? He really went all out of y’all.”
“You don’t need to lecture me on good manners, Raven. I did raise you both,” her father spoke up, clearly annoyed and bored of this conversation.
Raven bit down the retort that she was not sure please and thank you were even phrases in their vocabulary and just nodded.
“Is that all?” her sister asked cooly.
“Yea, yea that’s all.”
Both of them immediately left to return to the dining room where Michael’s family gathered, leaving Raven in the living room. She let out a deep shaky breath as a welcomed face popped out around the corner. However, she cringed slightly, fearful that he heard that entire exchange.
She walked over to him, Michael immediately pulling her into a tight embrace. Her head thudded against his chest. “Please tell me you didn’t hear any of that.”
“Don’t think me lying to you is gonna make you feel any better.” His fingers brushed aside the curls that spilled into her face. .
His hand rubbed soothing circles into her back before he kissed her on the top of her head. This time Raven did not even attempt to shy away, she fully melted into his embrace, at least as much as she could without breaking down.
“Say the word and they’re gone,” he reminded her, leaning back so he could look in her eyes.
Raven could tell he was completely serious, that he would kick both of them out without a second thought or a care. However, she knew that was not a possibility.
“As much as I hate it, we need them, remember?” She sighed. “For once, I do actually need them. So I’m gonna do what I’ve always done.”
“And what’s that?”
She shrugged, pulling herself out of his embrace. “Suffer through it.” She answered simply.
“Anything I can do to help?”
“Keep my glass full,” she answered bluntly. “I can already tell it’s gonna be a long fucking afternoon.”
***
“So Kiara, what do you do?” Donna asked as she sat down from transitioning the dinner dishes out and replacing them with dessert.
Raven did not know how she was going to eat the slice of apple pie Michael cut for her. Everything had been so delicious, she had eaten two plates and would have gotten a third if her sister had not made a backhanded, loud compliment about her food and her figure. While she could count the number of plates she had eaten with ease, the same could not be said for the glasses of sangria.
She had not lied when she said she needed it. Tipsy Raven cared far less about her sister’s consistent jabs to make her feel inferior and puff herself up to Michael nor did she care about how her father objectively ignored her for the entire dinner. He talked of her and around her but not once did he direct a question or comment to her. She could not tell which slight bothered her more, the disrespect or the disregard.
“I was doing hair for a while but I really love to cook so I’m going back to school to be a chef.”
Everyone around the table offered the appropriate congratulations and well wishes while Raven merely smiled and stopped herself from rolling her eyes. Kiara changed career paths about as often as she changed boyfriends, which was damn near monthly. Being a chef was just another way to throw her dad and Raven’s money down the toilet.
“Once I finish school, maybe you can float some clients my way? My dream is to be a personal chef.”
Raven downed her glass before filling it again. She found that drinking was the only way to stop herself from commenting on everything they did that frustrated her. However, that was an incredibly foolish drinking game to play. Because everything they did today seemed to frustrate her, every slight seemed amplified now that it was in the presence of Michael and his family. Each one fueled that anger she often ignored and suppressed. She should have known this was coming, that they would try to ask him for favors. She didn’t even ask him for favors. All they did was take and it was one thing to do that to her, but Michael did not deserve it.
You don’t deserve it either, a small voice that sounded oddly like the man sitting next to her reminded her.
“Maybe finish school first before you start chatting up my man for clients,” Raven teased, keeping her tone light and playful though she knew Kiara could see the lack of amusement in her eyes.
“Well, we all gotta start somewhere right? Can’t all be big time like you, sis?”
Raven smiled, “Well, you can be if you work hard… and don't rely on boyfriends, dad and I for everything,” she added the last part under her breath, however, she knew her sister could hear her. Michael’s hand went to rest of her thigh as if he could sense the change in her demeanor and mood almost immediately.
“Oh we loved Raven’s book,” Donna offered, transitioning the conversation away from her sister. “Such a talented and vivid writer. I probably talked the poor girl’s ear off when we first met about it. Was she always like that?”
Raven’s dad chuckled. “Yea she always had her nose buried in a book or a notebook writing somethin. She used to write these little short stories, got a drawer full of ‘em back at the house.”
“That’s so sweet. I’m not much of a fantasy reader,” Donna admitted. “But she had me hooked from the first chapter. Such a beautiful story.”
“Yea the book was really great,” he added lamely, unable to offer much beyond that because, as Raven knew, he had not read her book. “I always encouraged them both to follow their dreams, great to see her accomplish so much.”
Something about hearing him talk about her passion, her life’s work, the thing she tolled and fought for and had to give up, as if he cared about it at all made all those years of suppressed rage finally boil over. She could suffer through a lot, it was true, but she could not listen to that, listen to him lie and pretend to be supportive or caring when he was nothing of the sort. And now, she did not even care who knew it. This was simply not a piece of fiction she would allow him to sell.
“What was your favorite part of the book, dad?” Raven had not said much throughout dinner, allowing her sister to monopolize most of the conversation. However, it seemed as though Michael was the only person who realized the unfortunate turn their Thanksgiving dinner was about to take. He leaned in closer to her, quietly whispering in her ear but he knew his sweet nothings meant just that at this point: nothing. She was too far gone to hear them or register them. Her body felt as if it was almost vibrating with rage. He wished he could take her outside and give her a few plates to smash but he knew his mom would not appreciate that.
“Oh all of it. Whole thing was great.”
“Huh…” she muttered, taking a long gulp of her drink before reaching for the pitcher to refill it. “Who’s your favorite character?”
“Maybe we should slow down on…” Michael quietly whispered in her ear, subtly trying to beat her to the pitcher but she grabbed it first and poured another large glass. She raised her hand to stop his sentence.
“Didn’t realize there’d be a pop quiz,” he let out a deep chuckle as the tension around the table grew to levels that were impossible to ignore.
“Not a pop quiz. Just tell me one thing about the book you loved so much and encouraged me to write. Favorite plot twist, favorite scene, favorite character… hell, name one character you remember at all?”
“What the fuck, Rae? What’s your problem?”
Raven let out a humorless laugh as she leaned back in her seat. She downed her entire drink in one go, sitting the glass down before folding her arms casually.
“What’s my problem? What’s my problem? Right now, my problem is this fiction you’re spinning as if you give a rat’s ass about my book, my career, or me when if someone put a gun to your head, you wouldn’t be able to tell them the name of my book, let alone anything about it. My problem is the fact that I invited you all here to spend time with me, my boyfriend, and his family, all for you to ignore me for most of dinner. My problem is that you wax poetic about stories I wrote as a kid when, if you had ever bothered to read a single one of them, you would have seen a child writing herself into literally any other world and family to escape the pitiful one she had. I have a lot of problems, too many to list right now. But the common denominator in all of them is you two.”
Everyone’s movements and side conversations halted at her outburst. The silence and her deep breaths were only interrupted by Michael’s brother accidentally dropping his fork against his dinner china, the loud clanging filling everyone’s ears as they stared at Raven and her father.
She was not one to start a scene or draw attention to herself. But she could not let any of this go on for another moment.
“Baby… why don’t we take a break for a minute?” Michael asked, standing to pull her chair out. Raven knew that if she sat there for a minute longer, she’d lose whatever little composure she had left, so she forced herself to heed Michael’s advice. She wiped her lips and immediately threw her napkin down on the table to stand and leave.
“Excuse me.”
However, as she turned around, she heard her father’s voice.
“I didn’t mean to cause an issue. I tried my best with her and Kiara but you know, some kids are just harder to handle than others.”
As soon as those words hit her ears, she exploded. Before she even realized it, she had returned to the table and was leaning over it yelling at her father.
“‘You tried your best??’ YOU TRIED YOUR BEST? You never tried! All you’ve done is give the bare minimum and suffer through my presence like I’m was a fuckin’ pest you couldn’t get rid of!”
“You think you can talk to me that way? I’m still your father! All I’ve ever done is love you and take care of you.”
Raven scoffed, throwing her hands in the air. Michael shifted so he was standing behind her, an arm wrapped around her waist as if to stop her from jumping across the table. It was not that he thought she would actually do anything, baby girl did not seem like the scrapping type. But he prayed his presence would calm her down if nothing else. This was a side of her he had never seen before. He could not lie, it was kinda sexy, seeing her finally stick up for herself and be assertive.
In a part of her brain that felt distant and detached, she could feel Michael’s presence, hear his soft whispers to calm down. And she knew and appreciated what he was trying to do: stop her from doing something she’d ultimately regret. But at that moment, she did not know if she wanted to be stopped.
“All you’ve ever done is give me scraps! Scraps of support, scraps of your attention, but not an ounce of your love or affection. All to punish me for the sin of being born.” She had always bought into her family’s narrative that she was to blame for what happened. But it was as if the small voice that nagged at her her entire life was finally roaring. This was not her fault. No part of it was. “You can’t be mad at God for that shitty situation and you won’t be mad at mom for making her choice. So for 30 years, I’ve endured you hating me because you needed someone to be mad at. When you ignored birthday after birthday and accomplishment after accomplishment and need after need, I persisted in trying to win your love and win your affection. When you threw me out and cut me off after one year of college, I dusted myself off and kept going. When you rebuffed every attempt to reconnect and build a new relationship, I kept reaching out, kept trying. When you ignored me on every holiday and at every visit and everything, I still showed up. And when you ask for everything I have despite not deserving a cent of it, I give it. Every single time. Even after I lost my book deal last year and my career and didn’t know how I was gonna pinch pennies together for rent, I put myself and my needs last to help you two every single fuckin’ time. And you both expect me to be gracious for scraps while I kill myself to give you the Sun, Moon and stars and you take and you take and you take without so much as a thank you.” Every ‘take’ punctured by her hand slamming down on the farm-style dining table. “It’s not enough and I refuse to spend the next 30 years pretending it is. I’m done!”
“God, you’re such an embarrassment,” Kiara muttered.
“Oh fuck you, Kiara!” She cried out. “You miserable, attention-seeking bitch. You can say whatever you want about me but unlike you, I made something of my life and I did it all on my own. Meanwhile, you float through life without a single responsibility or thing to your name that someone else didn’t give you. And you can’t stand the fact that my life, despite both of your best efforts, is better than yours.”
“Wow. Nice to know how you really feel about your family.”
“I’ve never had a family. You both made damn sure of that. You want me out of your lives so bad? Fine. I’m out. Let’s see how far both of you get without taking from me. Get out. Both of you.”
Raven had no authority to kick someone out of a house that was not even hers but she could not hope to care. She knew Michael would not argue with her or lobby for them to stay after she just cussed them out six ways to Sunday in front of his entire family.
“You can’t kick us out!”
“Yes she can,” Michael piped up, speaking for the first time since the blow up began.
The intense stare down continued before her father and sister angrily stood up and stalked to the door.
“And Kiara!” Her sister stopped walking to turn around to her. “Say another word about me or my relationship to the media and I won’t hesitate to tell this entire world what a shitty person and sister you are. See how your friends like that story then.”
Her sister merely glared at her before stomping out of the house behind their father. As soon as she heard the door shut, Raven felt the adrenaline in her system crash and the weight of what just happened set in.
What the fuck did you just do? And in front of Michael’s family?
She let out a shaky breath as a wave of shame hit her. “U-Um… I am… I am s-so so so sorry,” she whispered. She rang her hands together, unable to make eye contact with anyone in the room. She had not felt this embarrassed in a long time. “I-I should go too.” She pulled herself away from Michael and tried to race toward the door, ignoring his calls for her to stay. However, before she could leave the dining room, Michael’s mom stopped her.
She grabbed the young woman’s hands and patted them softly.
“No, no you aren’t. No one leaves my table till dessert is over. You’re gonna sit and finish your pie with family.”
The tears brimming in Raven’s eyes spilled over.
“I-I’m sorry for r-ruining dinner.”
The older woman laughed. “That ain’t the first blow up this family’s seen at a dinner table… won’t be the last. Go on and sit down.”
She steered Raven’s body back into Michael’s arms who pulled back her chair for her to sit. She ate her pie in silence, conversation flowing with ease around her. The Jordans acted as if her meltdown was just par the course, though she knew they were likely just trying to make her feel better. But still, she appreciated it. Within 15 minutes of eating dessert, the mood across the table felt lighter and easier than it had all day. Raven calmed down enough to laugh and joke. By the end of several rounds of drinks and a very rowdy spades game to cap off the evening, Raven’s heart and soul also felt lighter than they had in years.
However, that quickly ended when she and Michael finally retreated to his suite for the evening. She collapsed onto the edge of his bed and kicked off her shoes, her movements sluggish and slow as if the weight of what she had done was finally creeping on her now that she was alone.
“I’m… alone,” she whispered to herself.
“What?” Michael crouched down in front of her, her eyes misting over slightly as she realized the truth.
“I’ve always been alone for the most part… after my grandma died. And I couldn’t keep a relationship going for long ever. It’s always just been… me. But it was ok because even though they were awful, I still had… family a-and there was still hope that it could be something. But now… now I have no one cause they’ll never come around after what I said to them.” She rubbed her eyes with the palm of her hand. “I don’t regret it, I was holding on to something that just wasn’t ever gonna be anything. But the dead weight was… something? Didn’t expect how empty I’d feel without it.” She sniffled and wiped her eyes. “It’s stupid,” she whispered. “Sorry.” She cleared her throat and stood up to walk to his bathroom. “Give me a minute to get my life together and then we can do what you actually pay me for and not this sad shit.”
Michael watched as she dapped her eyes in the mirror to rid them of tears before she reached behind her and pulled down the zipper of her dress. She looked gorgeous, her body clad in another one of her lingerie sets from Paris. This one was a nude brown that perfectly matched her skin. He knew she was merely trying to use sex to move on and forget, and he would oblige. But he could not do so without saying one thing.
“You have me.” It was not a question, but a firm statement. A matter of fact statement that left no room for arguments or questions.
Raven’s hands paused as she tried to fix her hair for a few minutes. She turned and smiled at him, closing the distance between them.
“Yea I have you… But this’ll end and you’ll find the right girl for you and then…”she shook her head, not wanting to think about that: being alone or being without him. “Thank you… for today.”
She leaned forward and pressed her lips to his. Usually, Michael initiated their kisses and they were domineering, hurried and passionate. While this moment held the same passion, it was slow and measured, each second inching past them. And Raven used every second to convey what her simple thank you could not. She prayed he felt it and appreciated it, because at that moment, the small action was all she had left to give. She did not have the energy for grand speeches or words.
She broke off their kiss and slid down to her knees, assuming the same position she did almost every time they had sex.
However, tonight, Michael decided he needed something different, that she needed something different. His finger gently lifted her chin so her eyes were on him.
“You take care of me every time we have sex. Let me take care of you for once.”
He did not let her question it as he helped her to her feet and led her to his bed, gently pushing her down. She let out a dramatic huff that made him chuckle.
He stood over her for a moment, his eyes taking in the hills of her breasts, the soft panes of her stomach, her thick plush thighs. He often found himself just staring at her and this moment was no different, moments where he wanted to commit her beauty to memory, burn her image in his brain matter.
“You are fuckin’ gorgeous,” he whispered. “You know how beautiful you are?” he asked as he sucked on the skin of her neck.
She turned her head, giving him more access to the skin of her neck as he sucked and bit. She whimpered slightly as his kisses moved down her body, savoring the taste of her soft supple skin. He took his time, however, this felt completely different than when he teased her. Then, he was purposefully avoiding giving her what she wanted. Now, her moans created the roadmap he followed. His lips and hands lingered where she needed them to, only pausing to shower her with praises. As his kisses continued, Raven lost all control of her senses, of the world around her. Everything else, the pain and emotions of the day faded away as every thought in her mind and every cell in her physical body turned their focus on him.
“I love everything about you. The way you moan, the way you beg me for more, the face you make when I make you cum.”
“Michael, please,” she whimpered.
He paused his ministrations and grasped her chin with a featherlike touch, her eyes focusing on him.
“I’m gonna take care you, I promise. Always. Trust me.” He hoped that the look in his eyes conveyed the truth, that her pleasure was not the only part of her he would take care of. He would worship and care for her mind, body, and spirit.
His fingers hooked into her lace panties and slid them off, settling between her plush thighs for his favorite meal of the day. Her eyes clenched shut as he spelled his adoration and love for her with his tongue on her clit. Michael had always been a generous lover but river always bent toward his pleasure. Every action, while it brought her pleasure, carried the reminder that it was not for her pleasure, it was for his. And she loved it, craved it, got off on it. It was one of the benefits of the arrangement to her.
But it had been so long since she had had sex like this, where the river flowed toward her and only her, where someone was so committed to bringing her mind numbing pleasure and ensuring she knew she was cared for and safe. She knew why he was doing it, after seeing how unsafe she was with her own family. She knew it was not real but she could not close the gates to her heart fast enough and stop herself from feeling it, from enjoying it. Every touch was gentle and sweet and let her know she was safe in his arms, safe in his sanctuary. And even though she knew she could not stay there with him forever, she loved him even more for letting her in from the cold for a moment.
Michael’s eyes never left her face as he devoured her, every moan, groan, and plea for mercy spurred him on. Her thighs clamped around his head as he pushed her farther and farther up her mountain to the peak of desire. He knew Raven’s body almost as well as he knew his own now, increasing his speed and efforts when he felt her legs shake and heard her moans grow louder.
It did not take much longer for Raven to feel the snap of a powerful orgasm crash over her. She let out a continuous stream of praise and lewd words as she road those waves of sweet bliss.
“That’s it, baby. Cum for me. Fuck, you taste so good.” He emerged from between her legs, kissing her deeply.
He wrapped his arm around her waist and used his strength to hoist her farther up onto the bed. He placed her legs on his shoulders and lined himself up with her entrance. Raven offered him a raised eyebrow at the position choice, she could not remember the last time they did missionary on the bed like this. On creative surfaces, like tables? Sure.
“I wanna look you in the eye when I make you cum. Keep your eyes on me, baby,” he whispered, Raven’s heart’s fluttering as she felt him fill her to the brim.
“Fuckkkk,” she cried out as he drove into her deeply. Every stroke felt like heaven, a promised land he was so graciously sending her to. There was a vulnerability to the position that she had not expected, the way he looked at her with every thrust forward and retreat.
“Look at me.” He demanded as her eyes fluttered closed. As soon as her eyes were trained on his, he uttered three words Raven never would have thought to hear from his lips. “I love you.”
Raven was rendered speechless, her moans catching in her throat as she felt her stomach drop 100 stories.
Did he say what I think he said? She thought to herself, her brain trying to cut through layers of pleasure fog to work properly.
“You deserve the entire world, Rae. You deserve someone who’ll  give you this world… the sun, the moon, and the stars. And I don’t deserve you, I don’t deserve this. But I’ll spend everything I have, I’ll give everything I am to make sure you got it. I want more than an arrangement and six months with you… I want you, all of you, for as long as you’ll allow me.”
His words directly clashed with the narrative she had in her mind, the seeds of doubt life and her family had sowed. And despite her heart begging her to scream the words back at him, those doubts stopped her. She heard his words but she did not believe them or rather, she could not believe them.
She did love him, she was so in love with him. It was a devastating, beautiful, painful, once-in-a-lifetime sort of love she thought she would only read in the pages of love stories. But she felt it… every devastatingly beautiful moment of it every time she was in his presence, every time she felt his touch, every time he comforted her or looked into her eyes.
But the words, those three precious words, were stuck in her throat. A barrier of fear and doubt, made even heavier by the events of the day, weighed them down. Instead of celebrating that the man she so desperately loved felt the same about her, she could only focus on how that just could not simply be true. The story she had built in her mind that she was not good enough, that she did not deserve him, that he could never love her, a part of her brain clung to it as a lifeline. She had given Michael this grand speech about living and falling but she could not do it herself. Because if she gave in and  allowed him to love her, truly love her, and then this was all a lie? That was the crash she did not think she could survive. She could handle her family hurting her. It knocked her down but she could always get back up again. But Michael? He would be her armageddon. If he hurt her, she would not get back up again.
The avalanche was hurling toward her once again, only this time she was standing at the bottom without a barrier or way to outrun it. She was mere feet away from being swept up by it and all the emotion and vulnerability it brought in its wake. The day had just been too much, too heavy. And emotionally, she had not been prepared for any of the twists and turns the day had brought. She suddenly felt overwhelmed, so out of control of everything, particularly her emotions, the one thing she usually had under control.
She felt tears sting the back of her eyes but she knew they were not good tears, the tears Michael usually induced during sex. No, these were entirely different. She quickly realized she needed a break, a moment. And the only thing in this world that she could control in this particular moment was the man above her. He was the catalyst every single time, the cannon blast that started the avalanche, that forced her to feel everything all at once. And she needed that to stop. She needed him to stop.
“Wakanda…” she choked out, her voice as broken and small as she felt.
She did not have a chance to repeat it as Michael immediately stopped his movements in mid stroke, his face stricken and concerned.
“Shit.” He slid out of her without a second thought  and braced himself over her, shocked to find tears streaming down her face, her body trembling. He  immediately grabbed the blanket that was hanging half off the bed, wrapping her nude form tightly in it. “Hey, hey. You’re ok, you’re ok. You’re having a panic attack. Deep breaths for me.”
Raven curled into a small ball under the blanket, gasping for breath. Michael pressed her hand into his chest.
“Focus on me, baby girl. That’s it. Deep breaths.”
She closed her eyes and focused on the faint thumps of his heart in his chest, the way it rose and fell against her hand as she tried to sync up her breathing to his. He held tightly to her hand as she took long deep breaths. It felt like hours passed before either of them moved, before she felt calm enough to speak, but she knew it had likely only been a few minutes.
“First a concussion,” she wiped her tears. “And now, a panic attack. I must be the worst woman you’ve ever had sex with,” she let out a watery chuckle.
“Or the best?” he offered in a voice so gentle and quiet, it made a new set of tears well up in her eyes. She did not deserve him. “What happened? Did I hurt you?”
She shook her head. “N-no, you d-didn’t. I j-just couldn’t… you can’t look at me l-like that o-or keep doing stuff l-like this. Pretending you love me just to make me feel b-better.” She shook her head rapidly. “I know you feel obligated to be g-gentle and shit when I’m having a bad day. But i-it’s just confusing. I know t-this isn’t real a-and I c-cant take anyone else pretending to love me or care about me when they r-really don’t.”
“I’ve never done anything for you that I didn’t want to do, Raven. I’m not kind and gentle with you because I feel obligated. I’m kind and gentle because I want to be, because you deserve it. Do you find yourself so undeserving of all these things that it is that hard to believe that I’m in love with you? That I do all this shit for you because this is real to me??”
“There’s no way that is true! You don’t love me!” She argued.
“Yes I do!”
Raven wanted to pull her hair out and scream at him. “Stop saying that! W-we are just fantasies to each other, Michael! P-playing a role that the other needs filled and j-just because the fantasy is nice, doesn’t mean I should kid myself into believing it is real. You’ll toss me aside as soon as this agreement is done because everything you feel is based on a fantasy!”
“You aren’t some fantasy to me, Raven!”
“Fine! Not a fantasy! But everything we are is conditional… even you have to admit that. I mean we have a fuckin’ contract! Everything we are is based on me fulfilling those conditions! You can dress me up like a girlfriend but I know what I am when the cameras go away, Michael. I’m the girl you met in a hotel who was paid to fuck you!”
He jumped off the bed and grabbed his phone, thrusting it into her hand. “Robert Pearson. Call him.”
“W-who is that?” she asked, completely bewildered by the change in the conversation.
“He’s one of the top reporters at TMZ. Call him, call him right now and tell him this whole thing is a fuckin’ sham. Hell, want me to start an Instagram live for you so you can tell the whole fucking world? I’ll do it.”
She threw the phone back on the bed and stood up, wrapping the blanket around her like a dress. “I’m not gonna fucking call anyone or do that!”
“But you could! That’s my point! You could call TMZ right now and tell him this whole thing was a sham, sell a fuckin’ tell all and I’d still love you. I’d honestly thank you for it because then I wouldn’t have to pretend I only love you because of some arrangement. I could admit that I love you for you. I love you for your vulnerability, your spirit, the fact that you give and you give and expect nothing in return and don’t even stop giving all of yourself when everyone else would. I love that you talk in fuckin’ sonnets and monologues. I love your relentless optimism and hope. I love your smile, the way you can’t look someone in the eye when they compliment you but it lights up your entire being. I love that you’ve got a wild imagination and you're quirky and funny and…” he threw his hands up in the air. “I. Love. You. I am in love with you. You can keep telling me to stop saying it, you can ignore it, pretend you don’t hear it, you can reject it. But it won’t change it. I love you. No conditions, no expectations. Just you for you. The question is do you love me?” he demanded.
“It’s not that simple!” She tried to move around him but he blocked her way. She needed to get out of her, needed to escape this chaos. “Move, Michael.”
“No! It is that simple. Do you love me? Forget everythin’ else. What you think you do and don’t deserve. Do. You. Love. Me?”
“Of course, I fuckin’ love you!” she cried out. “I fell in love with you the morning I woke up with a concussion and you were sitting in my hospital room. I love you! But t-there’s… no one loves me like that. What you’re claiming to feel… no one feels that for me a-and there’s no way that you, a man who could get any one of the billions of women on this planet, would be the first. There’s no way you would settle for loving me.” She let out a deep sigh. “A-and my heart can’t take it… I can’t take the rejection and pain from people I love who don’t love me back anymore. I c-can’t. Which means I can’t believe that you love me. I’ve taken all I can take a-and if I accept that you love me, then I risk you rejecting o-or hurting me. And when you do, it’ll kill me.” The last word hung in the air as she sank down to the floor by his bed, her head buried in her hands.
Michael settled down on the floor next to her, his hand grasping hers as he intertwined their fingers. There was so much to unpack in her words, so much that he knew he would not be able to convince her of or solve in one night. But there was one thing he knew he could assure her of right then and there.
“There were a hundred ways I could’ve spun what happened between us that first night, hundreds of ways I could’ve dealt with you that would not have led us to this moment. But I chose the road I chose, not so I could have a body to use or fix a crisis. But because you stole my soul the moment you turned around in that hotel room. Loving you isn’t fuckin’ settling, it’s everythin’ I’ve wanted for damn near a decade but didn’t think I could have again. We’ve been standing on the edge of this cliff, waiting for the other to be ready to jump for months now. And I’m ready and you’re holdin’ on for dear fuckin’ life. I’m askin’ you to let go and trust that I won’t hurt you. I know that’s scary… shit I’m scared too. But I’m willing to jump if you are.” His thumb wiped away her falling tears before kissing her on the forehead. “I’m not lookin’ for an answer tonight, love. I know today… this week’s been a lot for you. I didn’t mean to add another thing on top of all the other shit, I just… needed you to know how I felt.”
“Don’t… don’t apologize. I-I j-just got overwhelmed b-by everything. It’s been a day of unexpected emotional confessions,” she chuckled. “I…” she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. “I’m really scared. Scared of being hurt, scared of falling even more in love with you a-and another good thing being taken from me. B-But I want this for real with you too. I don’t wanna keep pretending what we have isn’t real when we know it is. If you’re ready to jump, so am I. And we can just be scaredy cats while we fall together?”
He pulled her into his lap and pressed his lips to hers softly. “Not a fan of you callin’ me a  scaredy cat,” he teased. “But yea. I meant it when I told you, you’re safe with me. All of you. And I’ll do whatever I gotta do to make sure you believe that shit.”
Her heart fluttered a bit. She knew he meant his words. If there was one thing she had always been with Michael, it was safe. And she adored that about him.
“I love you,” she whispered.
“I love the way that shit sounds. Say it again.” .
“I love you, I love you, I love you,” her lips tugged upward into a grin as he started peppering her face with kisses and having her repeat the phrase over and over again. He picked them both off the ground and continued kissing her and causing her to giggle as he placed her back in bed.
He settled her under the covers and pulled her tightly into his arms. Their legs were quickly tangled in each other’s as she laid her head on his chest. They laid there in silence for a while before Raven sat up. As much as she enjoyed cuddling in his arms, Raven wanted more. Emboldened by their confessions of love, she pushed herself to her knees and straddled his hips.
“You used your safe word. We ain’t gotta…” she pressed a finger to his lips stopping him.
“I know what I want and need, Bakari,” she whispered, using his nickname, which was only reserved for family and close friends for the first time. Michael was not much of a crier but hearing his nickname on her lips made his heart skip one or two beats, made tears sting the back of his eyes.  “And I want you. You showed me how much you loved me… now let me show you.” She gave him a sly smirk before shifting between his legs to taste him.
The pair lost track of how many times they moaned or screamed those three magic words to each other. But by the time they were finished, their bodies a tangled mess of limbs and bodily fluid, Raven knew, in her heart, that his words were true. And so she fell asleep nestled in his warm embrace, feeling true happiness with anther person for the first time in her life.

ohhhh i always have requests! quite fond of lil drabble ideas: bruce teaching dick to dance and (years later when they’re together) they recreating some of their first dances, slade being the one to gift dick his first leather jacket that he still regularly wears, An Event Occurs and in the aftermath dick realizes how irreplaceable he is to bruce and just how much bruce both loves him and needs him, bruce and dick’s undercover aliases that keep getting more and more romantic over the years
In Dick’s experience, returning to his apartment after a week away and finding a mysterious box on the coffee table that was definitely not there when he left is, usually, not actually a big deal.
He’s still careful—the little Batman that lives in the back of his head would never give him a moment of peace if he wasn’t—but he’s just very aware of the fact that, nine times out of ten, the not-so-little Batman is the one breaking in and leaving little treats for him to find later, because Bruce is deathly allergic to seeing people’s reactions to his gifts in real-time.
Dick runs through the standard checks, but nothing sounds or smells off, and nothing pings as suspicious on infrared or the particulate detector. He steps closer to inspect the box. It’s rectangular, all white, and generally unremarkable except for the fact that he didn’t put it there.
Carefully, he lifts the lid. He’s expecting some kind of gear—it wouldn’t be the first time a new suit or toys showed up unannounced.
What he finds is a leather moto jacket.
He gently lifts it out of the box and stares at it, bemused. It’s very nice—genuine Italian leather by the feel of it, black with silver hardware and diagonal pockets in the shape of a V, and just his size. There’s no note of any kind, but when he sniffs the leather, he also gets a whiff of maple and gun oil—and that feels like a signature in and of itself.
Dick pulls out his phone, dials in the number from memory, and sinks into the couch as it rings.
“Happy birthday,” Slade says when he picks up, voice low and rumbling.
Dick suppresses a smile. “You’re late.”
“I was busy.”
“Doing what?”
“You really wanna know the answer to that?”
Dick bites the inside of his cheek and fiddles with the zipper of the jacket. They’ve been getting along all right ever since they’d been forced to team up on the cruise ship from hell, but still, a little plausible deniability goes a long way, between them. “How long ‘til I find out on my own?”
“Now that depends,” Slade says, drawing out the words. “You still talking to Rose?”
Dick blinks. “You were visiting Rose?”
“Something like that.”
“She shut the door in your face,” Dick guesses.
Slade grunts. “We can meet not at her apartment.”
“And she’s moving?”
“And she’s moving.” Slade doesn’t sound particularly annoyed about it, but then again, finding people who don’t want to be found is basically his job. Dick makes a mental note to see if Rose wants a hand making her dad’s life harder.
“So why the jacket?” Dick says, running his hand over the leather. It really is nice. He wonders where Slade got it, and whether it was paid for in money or blood. He probably doesn’t want to know.
“You complained I made you ruin yours,” Slade says. “Reckon we’re square now.”
Dick raises his eyebrows, even though Slade can’t see it. “I don’t remember doing that, but if I did, it had to have been, what… seven years ago? At least?”
“I’ve got a long memory.” It sounds vaguely like a threat, in Slade’s voice, but the jacket itself seems far from one, so Dick lets it pass.
“If you’re trying to make up for that,” Dick says, “then you’re really late.”
“You’d’ve thrown it straight in the trash if I ever tried before.”
“I could still do that.”
“You won’t.”
“Well, now I have to.”
Slade scoffs. “Go ahead. Would be a waste of perfectly good leather, though.”
The desire for knowledge wins out. “Where’d you get it?”
“Made it.”
Dick pauses, uncertain he’d heard correctly. When Slade doesn’t elaborate, though, Dick echoes, uncertainly, “Made it?”
“Wintergreen helped some.”
Dick opens his mouth, but nothing comes out. Made it?
“Who exactly did you think made my first few costumes?” Slade says, sounding amused. “Not all of us have your daddy’s resources.”
It’s one thing for Slade to have bought him something; Dick can explain that away as just a whim—an act of opportunity, as it were. But Slade spending the time and energy to make it himself?
That’s premeditation.
“This isn’t a birthday gift.”
“I said happy birthday, didn’t I?”
“This isn’t just a birthday gift,” Dick presses.
Slade doesn’t respond, and Dick lets the silence stretch far past the point of discomfort. Still, neither of them hangs up. Slade may be a stubborn asshole, but Dick has been trained in the art of silence-offs by the most frustratingly stoic of them all.
Dick smooths out the collar of the jacket and straightens out the arms while he waits. Now that he’s looking closer, he can tell the seams aren’t the tidy stitches of a lifelong craftsman, but it’s impressive work, all the same. Work that must have taken a hell of a lot of effort.
Finally, Slade breaks the rhythm of quiet breathing. “Whatever it is,” he says, “it’s yours now. Throw it in the trash if you want. Or don’t. It’s got nothing to do with me.”
It has everything to do with Slade, but the fact that Slade is insisting so hard that it doesn’t is both a little funny and extremely sad. Dick can recognize a fear of rejection when he hears it.
Dick puts a hand on top of the jacket. “It doesn’t really make sense to give me this,” he says, “if you’re never going to see me wear it.”
Slade is silent for a moment, but not as long as before. “I’ve got time,” he says, slowly, like he’s leaving space for Dick to cut him off between one word and the next. “Two weeks from now.”
“Two weeks,” Dick agrees. “I assume you don’t need the address.”
“Think I’ve got it.” Slade’s voice is dry, but lacking its usual knife-sharp edge. “See you soon, kid.”
He hangs up before Dick can respond.
Dick smiles anyway. “See you soon.”

Footnote: RIP Dick's expensive jacket (this is $300 in 80s money)

Hi love ❤️ I was wondering if you could do Dabi, Shigaraki, chrono and Kai with a S/O who who just grabs them and shoves their face in to her chest when they monologue. Like the S/O is just tired of their endless ranting so she does that to shut them up
*cracks fingers* I would love to-
Tumblr media
Listen, you and Dabi rarely fights, so usually a argument is more like the kind of "Oh I like cheese" while the other is staring at you in disgust with a "You are mentally ill."
Really. That's it.
Is actually pretty funny, but now? You were almost throwing a chair at the mktherfucker since he was mocking you about not winning a bet you both made over a movie.
"Another loss doll, what a shame." He muttered, resting his smug face on his hands as he leaned on the kitchen counter as you deadpanned at him.
"Yeah yeah you won, now leave me alone." You hissed.
"Nah. I just need to see your expression at losing again. I can't even remember the count now, do you? I think I won on our lil discussions about of... 100 times already?" He made a false thinking expression as you threw a towel at him...
He obviously dodged with a cackle.
"SHUT UP!"
"I'm just speaking the truth here." He spat with a snort.
You had enough and just went to where he was. Thankfully he was sitting down so it would be more easy.
"Oh. Someone wants a round 2?" He smirked devilish before his eyes went wide open when your hands just grabbed the back of his neck and pulled his face right into your tatas.
Well... that was unexpected but surely not unwelcome.
"You're done?" You grumbled with a smile on your face as you nuzzle on his tainted hair before you felt a pair of rough hands squeezing your waist and surely felt a warmth emitting from his face.
"Yeah. I'm shutting up now." The vibrations of his rough voice made you ticklish.
He wouldn't. If you do this every time he will never shut his mouth.
Tumblr media
Probably was complaining about heroes or a game he didn't won or smth.
And you were just like "hey chill os not the end of world."
Okay, not LITERALLY because if you say that it will surely cause trouble between you two.
But you got it.
I will go with the second option since I kinda feel bad for him considering the recents events (both manga and anime)
"Tomu is okay."
"No its not." He growled, fingers already at work on scratching his neck "Didn't you see it? That guy obviously cheated. Probably is a momma or daddy boy and got those cheats on games paying billions for it."
"Huh?" You let out. Sometimes in the middle of his angry ramblings you couldn't understand or just the dots didn't connected.
But something you didn't want was for this man to mess up his skin more than it was. His neck was a victim of abuse from his nails already.
You got up in the kindle of his rambling and gently started to caress the oily hair he had before sucefully hushing him and bringing him to a hug with his face other between your chest.
The rambling immediately stopped as his hands started to tremble and for a moment you were afraid you did something to piss him off even more when he just straight up pushed himself away abruptly.
But the sign his face was now a deep shade of red that matched his ruby eyes immediately melted your worry away as you muffled your giggle with your hand.
"Sorry, that got you out of guard tomu?"
He glared up at you before standing up from his chair before just burning his face on your neck, not touching you with his hands still.
He can't even remember why he was so mad about.
Look how effective your love was!
Tumblr media
ALL HE KNOWS IS COMPLAIN I SWEAR TO GOD-
Sorry, this man drives me crazy
Anyway-
Surely was bitching about heroes and diseases and how they shouldn't exist/need a cure after bumling with one of them on his walk.
And normally you would sit and listen with pleasure since you were basically the only one Chisaki was open with absolutely everything.
But today was not your day.
You were just staring at him pacing around the room while you were sat on the bed just wanting to go to sleep.
It was a bold and dangerous move considering that normally you warn Chisaki or he just sees so he can prepare himself.
But nope. You just got up and pulled him abruptly to a hug with his face right on your minimum covered chest.
"Please Kai just go to bed... " You sighed while trying to carres the back of his skull.
Only later realizing the fair uncomfortable position he might been.
Chisaki was a bit taller than you... and the angle he was now made him arch his back rather... awkwardly.
You were about to pull away until his gloved hands grabbed the back of your night shirt as he exhaled shakily on you.
Oh...
Guess you guys found a coping mechanism for when he gets nervous.
Tumblr media
He doesn't complain. He is an angel.
But he does go a rambling sometimes.
We saw that before he got attacked by a majority he was on ramble about to just kill aizawa.
Okay, maybe not a angel-
I totally can see Kurono as one of those dorky guys that goes mumbling without a care about something he enjoys it a lot.
And got shut out many times when he was a kid due to this habit (many times was Chisaki that ass-)
So he just tends to try to control it
Keyword try.
Because he is so comfortable around you that he can't just out of no where stop.
You're just watching him with a dreamy sigh as he explained in each detail about his favorite gun until he noticed your lack of response.
"Ha.. sorry about that." He scratched his cheek lightly
You weren't having that.
This man was so FLUSTERED when you scorched over and pulled him to nuzzle on your chest on the bed.
Face was 50 shades of red.
"Don't apologize for that. You like those things and I love hearing you talk. Please keep going."
I swear this man had heart eyes when staring up at you from his chest before he resumed his explanations but far more at ease at the position
Might have popped a boner
