Can we talk about how Right Back at Ya! made the Galaxia sword even cooler than it already was? Like, in the games it's kind of just a weapon, and that's it. But in the anime it's this ancient magical relic that shoots arcs of electricity at will and appears from the hilt with this epic flash of light, and it's like Thor's hammer where only those who are worthy can pick it up and use it, not to mention the LORE behind it-
I mean, this kid's show about a happy pink ball really said, "Oh and by the way, Meta Knight acquired the Galaxia sword after one of his closest comrades and fellow star warriors willingly sacrificed her life during a quest to retrieve it so that he could escape, thus adding a tragic layer of history to not only it but Meta Knight as a character and making it one of his only remaining ties to the star warriors after all of them but him were wiped out, as well as creating a burden for him to protect the sword and use it well since he's one who's been chosen to wield it. :)"
...like WHAT

also i realize i'm saying all these noble and beautiful things about the channel from the purest depths of my heart. but actually i'm also just doing this because i fucking love the witcher books and it pisses me off that people don't know about them that much in english and i can only go for so long (seven years) with people not knowing that there are books. or that the witcher is from the 90s. or polish.
#'whatt i didnt know the witcher was polish. wait where is poland' funky music stops.#like statements that just crush your soul?? my god netflix did a number on the witcher's perception#'so is it based on the video game? the book? there is a book?'#'waaait the second season wasn't accurate to the books? wdym...?'#>knowing the witcher >knowing henry cavill >not knowing who andrzej sapkowski is#when the literal writing is like inseparable from polish and that's why the translation is so hard#when the literal story is like chock full of allegories and references to real life polish history#and it only exists because of a very interesting time in contemporary polish history#like i'm not mad at the PEOPLE who don't know about the witcher i'm mad about how it's been TREATED#with witcher 3's fame at least people who knew the game generally knew a little more maybe#with netflix it's like no one knew anything about the actual witcher and it was really really sad#i do blame the artistic direction but i also blame the marketing and the writing and everything to do with everything#because how are they supposed to know if no one told them. if witcher here has been so separated from what it actually is and is about#like why not just leave witcher alone and get into any other fantasy. there is so much other fantasy out there. witcher is just one of them#yes and that is the plan in 10 years time but#it's not just about reading for personal enjoyment but for what witcher deserves in the english language space now#the witcher series is about suffering but idk if its characters or IT ITSELF has suffered more#zoltan chivay voice 'there IS something like reciprocity after all'#witcher helped me so now i want to help it. i will not abandon you in your time of need !#maybe people know more about the witcher than i think and i've just been incredibly unlucky in my experiences but#people thinking there is only netflix and the third game maybe would be hilarious if it wasn't so fucking sad#IV

Speaking of Raffles, if anyone* would like to be cursed with a basic understanding of cricket, may I recommend this blog post: Cricket for Americans - a primer
*You will need a basic understanding of baseball, but when I say basic, I mean “played kickball as a child”, “able to identify which one is the pitcher and which one is the first baseman”, “can tell when a home run just happened”. My own baseball knowledge is so sketchy I was trying to remember how many innings there are in a game and could only get to “pretty sure it’s either seven or nine”, and yet I read the linked post and now I can more or less follow what’s going on in fictional cricket scenes. You may or may not want this - not gonna lie, it’s removed some of the mystique - but the option is open.

I received an anon a lil’ bit ago asking to download a female sim, and in true me fashion, I went overboard and made three instead.
Gotta give the people options, right~
I figured this was a great opportunity to express my gratitude for the kindness, generosity, and undying support this community has continually shown me over the years (especially recently), and though a sim dump isn’t much, hopefully it conveys my love and appreciation, even just a little.
DL on Mediafire (ad-free):  Raven  | Jessica |  Bea
All credits go to the CC creators who helped bring these lovely ladies to life!
Each of their downloads includes a singular everyday outfit, and is roughly averaging around 500 mb+ each (I warned y’all that I have no self-control in CAS), so I would definitely consider the limits of your PC/laptop before hitting that download button.
Otherwise, there are no limitations as to what you can do with these sims. They are, by all intents and purposes, base sims, and I made them with the intention of being molded and shaped by every individual to fit their needs. However, if you like them how they are, that’s cool, too!
I can’t wait to see what you guys do with them! Feel free to tag me @cautiously0ptimistic so I can see whatever shenanigans they’re up to in your games! Happy simming!💛

Just 100% finished a liminal space photography game called Interior Worlds, by dev Sodaraptor. You can unlock a bunch of different filters to take spooky photos in a variety of different environments. It's fun :)
It's horror-adjacent, in the sense that it has spooky sights/sounds/environments - but there's nothing chasing you or trying to kill you. You're perfectly safe, but you won't feel like it! I'm a baby when it comes to horror video games, I can't play them on my own - but I had no issue getting through this one.
you can get it on steam or itch io

I finished dead souls the other day and man. unironically one of the most innocently satisfying endings of any yakuza game ive played thus far. it was sweet and silly and a little sentimental and idk maybe it was just refreshing to end a yakuza game and not feel totally miserable. all the important characters lived and had nice, but simple endings. kiryu and haruka stop by ryuji’s takoyaki stand and ryuji makes haruka a special takoyaki plate just for her. majima construction’s doin their thing rebuilding the city and shit. akiyama has hana back and she lightheartedly nags him about collections as per usual. it’s just. it’s nice. thank u dead souls i am at peace

y'know, I've been hearing about the new Zelda's $70 pricetag a lot -- but I've also been enduring a rough patch at uni, so I haven't been able to do any of the thinking or researching that I'd want to do before throwing my lot in there. regardless, there are two... fragments of points that I've had bouncing around in my head for a while, and I never see anyone getting close to them, so I figured I might as well lob them out to the internet to see if they'll bounce around enough to inspire some completed thoughts in anyone
the first thing: while Nintendo was the one that decided to take the first shot here and now, with a very highly anticipated title in one of its absolute flagship franchises, the matter of fact is that bumping up the Standard AAA Game Pricetag -- and to $70 exactly, even -- has been a talk in the industry for many, many years now. it's not a coincidence, or even just the industry's typical unparodiably vulture-like behavior, that as soon as Nintendo took the first shot, other studios were tripping over themselves to pin their next big releases at $70 as well.
(if you ask someone speaking for the studios, they'll probably tell you that $60 has been a downright generous pricetag for a long while now given how much production costs have soared in that time, and even $70 is still a steal all things considered. a less charitable point of view would invite you to consider why production costs are increasing so much anyway, despite that consumer satisfaction has long stopped increasing proportionally to that metric. is it an oversight, or a decision in the service of someone besides the consumer? that's not a rhetoric question, incidentally -- I did say these aren't finished thoughts.)
the second thing: first worlders have been much worried about what a price hike in games would mean for children, and to that I say: you may have more insight on the present situation if you look to countries where this sort of thing already has or still does happen.
I can say at the very least that, for a solid while here in Brazil -- that solid while having peaked around the 00s -- economic factors made the seemingly reasonable pricetag worldwide an oft-unthinkable one for most consumers (and the few that could actually afford videogames straight-up were still a stingy lot regardless). and what we did about it was... rampant piracy. and I don't just mean downloading shit, I mean that parents were buying their kids the sketchiest disks you can imagine to pop into their PS2s at home that probably weren't 100% the legit article either. owning a completely legitimate copy of any game was seen as some sort of Collector's Edition kind of rarity, even. anyway, I'm not exactly making predictions about how your first-world markets are going to adapt when/if videogames seriously slip out of the average consumer's grasp -- again, unfinished thoughts here -- but if you've been thinking about it, then this kind of thing may be worth studying up on.

Find the Word Tag x3
Because I like living my life on Hard Mode, I combined the last 3 find the word tags into One post. Thank you for the tag @sam-glade, @another-white-hole, and @writernopal! Find their posts here, here, and here, respectively!
My words to find are green, red, animal, lucky, and empty!
I just want y'all to know I had so much Fun digging these words up. I got to Uncover some old writing and some I almost forgot about!
green (IBT)
The moment the fire touched the incense, the spilled remains glowed green. A rapid gush of smoke quickly filled the room. Jemmah backed into the doorway. She would have stomped out the embers, had she not stood there in awe.
red (IBT)
“Yeah, bartender, that's what I said. You know, I have a real soft spot for bartenders.” [said Silas] Several shades of red bloomed on Jemmah’s face out of her control. She blamed it on the stress of cleaning up after a demonic ritual and drunk from her glass. She turned away, twirling her hair between her fingers.
animal (Crater City, Elijah’s POV)
“Blair, look at me!” I grabbed his shoulders. “I didn't tell you this because I didn't want you to go looking for him and get yourself killed!” “I'm not stupid. Or some wild animal on the loose,” he spat. “You act like I'll just go shoot up an entire building on a rampage—that isn't it!” “I didn't say that! You're doing it again, Blair—you're putting words into my mouth!”
lucky (IBT)
“Silas, is that you?” A familiar voice tickled Silas’ ears. “What, did you get summoned while someone was making a sandwich at home? It’s been a hot second.” It was that young-adult-novel-love-interest-wannabe Clementine. The fallen angel who thought he was any different from your average imp. “I was actually sent here to find a chaste, god-fearing angel to talk some sense into me. Do you know where I could find one?” Jemmah covered her laugh with a cough. “Oh, please,” Clementine flashed his perfect smile, “you’re lucky you have a goth girlfriend in tow. Otherwise, I really don't see a reason for you to show your face around here, Nicolá.” “All I hear is ‘I’m jealous Silas is living out my goth girl fantasies,’” Silas pitched their voice lower to mimic Clementine’s. “Honestly, I am appalled at you. Filled to the brim with nausea, even. And I apologize for putting you through this, Jemmah. I think we should go.”
empty (Crater City, Blair’s POV)
"Don't be ridiculous," I took a sip from my coffee cup, now empty. "You don't ever use numbers in your key-smashes unless you're drunk. And you're only drunk when I'm with you. And," I leaned over the table with a crooked smile, "We agreed to get drinks the next night. That's how I knew something was up."
Tagging these people (gently) to find the words sky, drive, over, sun, and smile: @writeouswriter, @sender-paulson, @acertainmoshke, @wildswrites, and @sabels-small-sphere. This is also an open tag!

Lady Anne Bradstreet
TW: Anne's not a great person and brief mention of hanging
Tumblr media
Anne Henrietta Von Trape Bradstreet was the 7th child and 4th daughter of George Von Trape with his third wife, Mary Kutschera, born on May 10th, 1727. George later died in 1734, leaving young Anne at home with her mother. Alongside her younger sisters, Anne was taken into the home of her second eldest sister, Mary, when she married Prince Kristof, later King Kristof V, in 1737.
In September of 1746, Anne was introduced to Howard Newton, the son of a wealthy merchant. Anne and Howard took a liking to each other immediately and Anne reportedly said in a letter to her sister that, “Even if he was a mill-boy, I would have no greater duty or honor than to be the one he takes to be his bride.” The couple became engaged February 14th of 1747, although their happiness was short-lived. In September, Howard was called to trial for the murder of three other prominent merchants, including his father. Howard, despite his innocence, was found guilty and Mary very quickly had Anne removed from the situation, much to her distress. In a letter to the youngest sister, Elizabeth, Mary wrote: “I do truly worry of Anne. She loves Howie so, but I can not bare to see my sister marry a convicted murder.” Howard was hung in mid-November and quietly buried shortly thereafter, with Anne visiting his grave every day.
Worried about her sister’s reputation, Mary and Kristof arranged for her to marry John Bradstreet, a friend of Anne’s who she had drifted away from over the years, and had never been seen publicly. Anne wrote to the eldest sister of the Von Trapes, Margareta that: “If I am to marry John, then it is because Mary and Kristof wish for it to be so. I would much rather be the bride of a dead man than of a living one.” The couple married in early February of 1748.
Anne and John had a distant marriage and only had three children, Howard (b, 1752), Eloise (b. 1753) and James (b. 1756). Of all of her children, Anne doted on Howard, believing him to be the reincarnated spirit of her dead lover, which horrified her husband and the rest of her family. She often slept in her bed with Howard by her side and often never let him out of her sight, but the same overprotectiveness was not granted to her other two children, whom she treated harshly and cruelly. Eloise wrote in her own diaries later that: “It seemed as though my mother harboured some amount of grudge against us for reasons we were certainly never told.”
Anne died in her sleep on July 9th, 1774, one day after her beloved son Howard had gotten married, to a bride that she did not approve of. It was reported that she died from a broken heart.
