my sister got married yesterday in the chabad shul we grew up in and it was a lovely wedding and i'm excited to have a brother (never had one before) but ALSO i need everyone to know that, after attending this shul for over a decade regularly and another decade intermittently (when i'm back to see my parents) i thought i'd found every picture of the Rebbe they'd hung up but i discovered, at 9pm after a long day full of wedding, while putting the chuppah away, that he does in fact also watch over us from the supply closet

I’ve joked about this before, but I just realized 1) I have PTO I need to use and 2) I’m def feeling the burnout, so I’m going to take a few days off in the next month and spend it with no plans other than reading and writing fic and I am suddenly at least 726% more excited about life.

[through grit teeth, staring into a mirror] effusive support of another writer is not automatically dismissive of you and your talents. one writer cannot output enough fic for the entire fandom and for a small fandom, every fic counts. just because somebody writes better smut than you, it doesn't mean you should stop writing smut. people use the word 'best' and 'favorite' as generic superlatives and they are not dismissing every other fic, including yours, as bad when they use them. people are allowed to have preferences, and it does not mean that you suck if another writer is held in higher regard than you are. people have good intentions and are trying to create a space where creativity thrives, not one where favoritism stifles creativity, and any slight that you feel is unintentional. people do not hate your work. people do not hate your work. people do not hate you--
