so more LN III thoughts (not as many at least, read more is just for users who are avoiding altogether)
I keep thinking abt how the single player you'll be playing with an AI like LN II, and I think the game would offer a lot of replay ability if you can choose which kid you play as as they both do different things (the wrench kid has the wrench for puzzles and breaking things, and the masked kid has the slingshot). in multiplayer it makes enough sense you can pick which one to play as, but if you can choose in single I think it'd make the game have a lot more play value and that's super cool.
the fact it has online co-op can mean so much for cool additional things, and i do hope character customisation is still there (LN with Six's masks/hats and LN II with Monos also) even if you have to unlock it which would also still offer replay ability.

The first four are in reference to a great idea I had of - since I’ve finished my lower-limit page number testing for making books; shorter fics take up less page space, and just increasing the font size isn’t as handsome! - simply making a mini book! All it would take would be to halve the pages again, right? Just cut them right down the middle! Easy peasy!
As I’m sure you can tell by the second, no. Not easy peasy. Difficult painful un-fun >:(
Obviously I still did it tho! What do you take me for, someone who could have the idea of an even tinier book and then not do something about it?? No
It’s also the only one so far to have a paper bookmark rather than a ribbon!
All told it’s a bit smaller than your average manga (I love the monochrome covers on these under their dust jackets haha <3) - you can see even with effectively doubling up the pages by halving their size, it was still very small-spined!
A quick shot while it was still being made hehe ♪ It’s Out! Paired here - and the earlier one, just without its dust jacket haha - with my Zarla SC2 collection (ft. Family, Negotiations are Going...Well, and With No Obligation) - I absolutely kicked myself after the fact for not including Out as the run-up to everything, I was really trying to make a full collection in probably-chronological order! Out would’ve been a perfect start! And it only would’ve taken like four pages!!
Ah well, it was still quite a learning experience - I probably wouldn’t make another standalone of under 4k-ish just for formatting reasons but I did get some good ideas of how to do so if I wanted to! Although, my next project is going to be even more of a formatting nightmare........I’ll get there when I get there! Lol

#wind howls#for the past like 22 hours i feel like ive felt every emotion on earth#right now im just sleepy though#sleepy... but im also soooo chilling#we used houdini for the first time today in class ! height fields sure are interesting... and the up to down nodes map is odd but fun !#although i definitely prefer using unreal as opposed to houdini simpy because building master materials and instances is so fun to me#yesterday the teacher showed us hue shift and my friend and i managed to build it so that the barrel we were testing our texture on-#has a switch that by default has the barrel shift through all the hues but you can turn it off to pick one specific hue#but its just one switch which automatically lets you access the specific hue you want#and this probably sounds like real baby shit to seasoned unreal users but to me it was so impressive and fun...#especially bc i managed to make it so when the switch is on it had a sub setting to choose the speed at which the hue shifts#but when its off the sub setting automatically changes to make it possible to input a specific number associated with the desired hue#which is not something my friend did ! i figured that out myself ! i am very proud of it !!!#although it may be poorly optimised... im gonna ask the teacher if theres an easier way to make the switch thatd be simpler to use#im really liking my video game preproduction class heehehe#and actually ive really been enjoying rigging as well#its a challenge ! and my god its so much to remember at once but its like. a really fun puzzle so far#although were like half a month in so my opinion may change as the assignments roll in#but so far. i like it. yay :)

wren rambles about the borderlands movie in tags
#so I went to the movie assuming it would be nothing like the games and be super shitty in general#I’ll preface with the statement that I’m generally pretty easy to please when it comes to movies#I go with the intention of enjoying myself and usually end up doing that#but my expectations were really low here#I genuinely really enjoyed this movie#some of the characterization fell short of the games but I expected that#the plot definitely deviates from the games#assuming this is meant to be Borderlands 1 timeline#but I liked how it came together#I found that the character differences made it easier to see this as its own story and not trying and failing to keep to the canon#the villain was eh but that’s because it wasn’t handsome Jack#frankly I find the first game very eh to begin with and this was certainly more interesting than that#as for the stuff I liked a lot#the cgi man#the settings and the creatures and the little details#really made it for me#I loved how the movie nods to things that it doesn’t need to for the story but did it anyway for the atmosphere and for the fans#the skags and the raak and the threshers were so cool#and just treated as part of the world and not something that even needed a ton of emphasis#like oh yeah watch out there’s threshers around here#the stickers on Marcus’ bus and the posters and graffiti did so much to build the world and atmosphere#I feel like it really matched the Borderlands tone of not taking itself seriously#and the world felt fleshed out rather than something we were being introduced to for the first time#overall I really liked it and will seek it out to watch more when it’s available#oh and claptrap wasn’t too gratuitous so that was nice#all his humour was really in character and not just showing off that they got Jack black to voice him#shit wren says#wren rambles#borderlands#borderlands movie

one of the things that's insane to me about terraria is it's lack of online prescence. it's the 10th best selling video game of all time. there's like 3 people who make videos about it. it's been around for 13 years. there's not even 400 fics tagged as terraria on ao3. 45 million people have played it. there are maybe 4 pieces of fanart somwhere if you really dig for them. and the crazy part is I totally agree. I have never wanted to create about terraria. I have rarely if ever wanted to consume content about terraria. this is a game I have a disgusting amount of hours in and I would give a very high rating of and I have never once gone feral over it like I have with other things I consume. terraria is this ball of awesomeness of a game mixed with this complete fucking undecipherable void of a prescence and i think it's insane
#if we're actually thinking about why though#1) the complete lack of story/worldbuilding/setting/ heavily discourages any attempt of a narrative#it would be like trying to write a captivating story about minecraft steve in minecraft block world#'but minecraft has so many stories thought up in it! like [insert minecraft smp]'#2) yes but consider that minecraft's relatively short - and frankly unfulfilling - progression#means that after you beat minecraft the only thing left to do is to create - either with yourself or other people#which incidentally is also why minecraft servers are such a big thing - becuase of that natural steer into playing with other ppl#however (as anyone who's tried to beat it knows) terraria has a LOT of progression - and it's all built to be extremly satisfying progress#which means when you beat terraria. you can beat it again! in any one of 2098456 ways you choose all of which give you a unique playthrough#incidentally this is also why in my experience servers are so much less of a thing in terraria#while the modding scene is sososo much bigger and relevant - tapping into that 'replay the thing but DIFFERENT' again type of replayability#I'm comparing terraria and minecraft btw because both are sandbox games but they have wildly different prescences#and often times people will write minecraft having more content down as 2d/terraria being more limiting creatively#but actually some of the prettiest builds in a videogame I've seen were in 2d/terraria#I think there's a more fundamental difference at play there#in the type of replayability that mc and terraria offer#one kind of forces you to create or play with others if you want more out of it#while the other offers this kind of seemingly endless well of challenges that never steers you in that co-op/creative direction#both are great in their own right#but it means that minecraft has more content 'staying power' as it is a space designed first and foremost to steer players into creating#and also most importantly - cooperating and playing with others to creat together#while terraria more often focuses on that core gameplay experience/challenge#while never steering/forcing players into that creating/co-opting space#unless they intentionally seek out that experience for themselves#see - the terraria builder community (not massive last time I checked) and server players (I don't think they exist)#also 3) eye of cthullu is stupid hard to draw in 3d without doubling over laughing#like 👁️ <- oh man look who's floating ominously!! he sure is gonna getchu!!#^ I ramble about things#also i still think terraria is better than minecraft. for the record

#everybody's always on about miyazaki and poison swamps what about miyazaki and him making us platform off the narrowest of ledges#anyways this is where that levitating coffin from yesterday brought me#other things that happened today:#tracked down all the night cavalry and death bird fights i'd missed for some easy runes#and then lost most of them right here because there's a glitch that sometimes happens when you drop onto a branch slightly off center#that makes the game act like you just jumped off a ten story building and kills you instantly#fought the big boss crucible knight with the name i can't remember (-fuck- that gold dagger) and got the crucible armour set#fought preceptor miriam again and mr. boing boing beach ball after her and then went up the thing and found [redacted]#i finally got my somber smithing stone 7#already had an eight and a nine so now all i need is an ancient dragon one to peak off my dear bloodhound's fang#fought the “baleful shadow” which looked ominously like [redacted] which is probably foreshadowing#:(#and I finally got some manageable champions in the big jar challenge so now i can wear (most of) radahn's armor#now i'm just gonna finish off this place#tomorrow i think i'll try to round out ranni's quests#i.e. continue into the lake of rot#somehow#yay#ølden ring

this is not the exact one I watched but I saw one of these "dish scape" things at someone's house who actually has TV (like they pay for dish/cable instead of just watching stuff online) and I think they're meant to be relaxing atmospheric stuff that you mostly ignore, but I sat there for 35 minutes watching absolutely engrossed.. further proof that I genuinely think my brain is incapable of experiencing boredom lol..
#IT'S BECAUSE there's so many little details that like you can spend minutes just scanning every corner of the image and taking it all in and#you keep finding new things! like 'oh I didn't know that blade of grass moved!' or 'I didnt see that bucket before!'. And then on top of#so many details - some things genuinely do change. The one I saw was a Beach house scene and sometimes a bird would fly by or ONE TIME kite#came out of nowhere. a sandcastle built and unbuilt itself. there's a firepit and it comes on when the sky changes from day to afternoon!!#this is like watching a sports game to me. I need weird detail oriented friends who will sit for 20 minutes staring at a barely moving pict#ure & cheer and clap with me when a seagull flies across the screen ghgj.. THERE HE IS!!!! etc!! and there's just so much to think about!!#Like how the images are layered or animated and the choices that were made (like I think the sunrise and sunset sky background images for t#e beachouse are just the same picture flipped and recolored) and trying to predict what's going to happen next (will the lights in the hous#turn off for night time? will another bird show up??) etc! I even got up at one point to walk close to the screen and get a better view of#hese paintings that were visible through the beachhouse windows. and then thinking about building a similar home in the sims! OR ALSO THIS#WOULD BE SUCH A COOL medium I think to tell a story! Like you upload a video to youtube that is framed just as a completely average moving#screensaver ambiance type of thing. It's like 7 hours long and mostly loops the same still image. However. over time at certain points you#can see some thing happen like watching characters interact through the windows. animals or people walk across the screen. certain elements#in the environment morph or change. etc. In such a way that an entire like plot is conveyed. maybe like fantasy mystery sort of thing. I WI#SH I could do this style of art / had friends who could or had money to pay somebody to. I would LOVE to collaborate on a weird surreal#It's Just Your Average Slowly Looping Moving Screensaver Video I Promise' type story.. jjhhgHH.. Or even just making one of these set in so#me of my fantasy world environments. not as a secret thing with easter eggs that tell a story but just literally an image like this tha#moves over time and etc. HHRRGRGHhhhhGG.. ANYWay!! I had to actually turn it off not because I was bored but because it was distracting me#. which is funny since again. I think for most people it's meant to be a 'just leave it on in the background' type of thing that's bland an#neutral . But it was just making me think too much ghjgh.. This is why I can't go to amusement parks or nightclubs bars or concerts like..#a moving screensaver image is too overstimulating to my brain. I literally dont think I could ever#be bored because of the way my brain works and also I approach life with elements of childlike whimsy and constant obsessive curiosity and#attention to detail. so as much as I am an analytical bore I also love everything and the world is fascinating at all times. lol.. duality#of man. if you get it then you get it. Sometimes my brain overreacts to things in a Major way and I'm left like. Man......
#speculation nation#had a mental health hiccup earlier (whoopsie) but after playing my zoo game i am feeling better#still. Physically not feeling great. but mentally im better.#im building a train into my zoo. i need to decide whether i wanna wait for the full tracks to be made first#or do a... smaller version to update when my zoo gets bigger...?#i have uhm. well my zoo is really only starting out still#but ive got a pretty good section growing for african animals. lions and cheetahs and uhm. tortoises. sand cats.#some other stuff. im going to add elephants too At Least.#on the other side of my zoo i have a polar bear exhibit. and i want to add more tundra kinds of animals over there#bit of a problem in that i am.doing very bad planning for the layout of the zoo#but im making up for it with RAISED PATHS...#who needs a nice structured zoo when u can look at the lions from ABOVE!!!!!#guests were Really happy about that one#i have some 60 or so animals by this point. Making Good Progress.#and. yeah. trains. to make it easier for guests to get to different sections.#considering theyve gotta go climbing up and down several sets of stairs to get there lmaoooo#having fun with it. im really glad i bought this game.
