Natâs Plan (Part 1/2)
Summary: When a recon mission in Lagos goes sideways, Sam and Bucky have to find a creative way to slip away from terrorist agents without causing another international incident. To do so, Bucky suggests they use one of Natashaâs old plans that helped her and Steve dodge HYDRA agents back in 2014. In other words, I canât help my obsessive need to write about the kiss-to-hide-in-plain-sight trope for Sambucky.

Lagos, Nigeria - 2024
The last time Sam Wilson was in Lagos, was eight years ago in 2016. He, Steve, Nat, and Wanda were on a mission to get a bioweapon out of the hands of Brock Rumlow and his merry gang of ex-Hydra agents which should have been successful. Technically, it was successful - minus the international incident that ensued when Steve didnât clock a bomb vest and Wanda accidentally blew up a building trying to stop the blast. Maybe semi-successful was a more appropriate word.
Regardless of Samâs interpretation of the events, the US government and SWORD took extra time and care to warn Sam, Torres, and specifically Bucky Barnes that this trip to Lagos was meant to be incident-free. No super suits, no guns, no knives, no weapons of any kind unless absolutely necessary.
After everything with John Walker over the past few months, Sam thought it was a good idea for Captain America to not go in guns blazing. Yes, they were trying to stop a new terrorist cell, but if Sam could use this trip to gather intel that would help stop them without exposing the Nigerian people to even more threats, then that would appease the government and his conscience.
For the most part, everything had been going swimmingly. No one had recognized them, they were working incredibly well as a team, and had easily slipped inside the terrorist HQ due to Torresâ ease of hacking into the security cameras, and Buckyâs innate ability to knock people unconscious with ease. Bucky and Sam had even managed to make it through the mission without bickering (at least, not more than the usual acceptable amount).
See, everything was great. Was being the keyword, because, after five minutes of trying to hack the cellâs computer to retrieve the data they needed on their upcoming attacks, Bucky got a little too impatient and accidentally tripped an alarm.
Sam groaned and threw his head back, âYouâve got to be shitting me. Youâre the ex-assassin, aren't you supposed to be the stealthy one?â
âAn ex-assassin with a metal arm who used to not give a fuck about who saw him coming. I didnât have to be stealthy as the Winter Soldier, Sam. I just took what I had to and killed anyone who got in my way.â Bucky replied, ripping the flash drive out of the PC the second the last file transferred over. Sam sighed, watching the wave of guilt washing over the soldierâs features.
âDonât start.â He added, holding up a hand to shush the former PTSD support group leader. âThis is not the time for a therapy session.â
Lying, Sam began, âI wasnât gonna-â
âYeah, you were. Now, letâs get outta here.â Bucky said, motioning for Sam to follow him over the door.
âHold on, Cap, let me get the wings, and your suit. Iâll be there ASAP.â JoaquĂn called over their coms. Sam could hear a rustling in the background like he was tripping over items as he rushed for the wings. Sam knew he had been itching to use them but now was not the time.
âNo, stay where you are.â Sam insisted, physically holding his hands out as if he could touch JoaquĂn. âNo suits, no wings, we can handle this.â
âAre you sure about that? âCause according to these cams I hacked, you two are severely outnumbered.â
âHeâs got a point, Samuel,â Bucky said, reaching for his gun he had tucked in the back of his jeans. Sam reached out, holding onto Buckyâs right wrist.Â
âNo guns.â Samâs eyes darted to Buckyâs metal hand inching towards his knife holster, âOr knives. Not yet.â
Bucky rolled his eyes, âthen whatâs the plan, Cap? Cause you know I hate to admit that the kid is right.â
âA kid that outranks you.â Annoyance flashed across Buckyâs face at JoaquĂnâs quip, and before he could snap back Sam immediately stepped in by saying, âAlright, Torres use those cameras and find us a route out of this building. If we get out of here first, then we can go from there.â
âOn it.â Sam could hear the rapid clicking of keys against Torresâ keyboard, before he said, âHead down that hallway and take the first door on your left.â
With Joaquinâs directions, they two made their way out of the building, only having to fight a few agents (which the partners easily took care of without weapons), but unfortunately, they werenât the only ones with access to the cameras. More agents were hot on their tails as they burst out one of the side doors. Sam and Bucky took off running, cutting through side streets until they slipped into the crowd at the marketplace.
âWeâve gotta blend in,â Bucky said, immediately stripping off his jacket as they walked, and dumping it on the back of a chair outside a small food stand. Sam couldnât help but admire the way his flesh and metal arms flexed as the super-soldier revealed that black t-shirt that hugged his chest and biceps in the best possible way. He quickly swallowed, before averting his eyes ahead, only to catch Bucky swipe a pair of sunglasses off a merchant table.
âWoah, what are you doing?â Sam said, gripping Buckyâs army to stop him in his tracks. âYou canât just steal shit, Buck.â
âNow is not the time to lecture,â Bucky said, looking over his shoulder, to see a few agents following them, eyes scanning rapidly scanning the crowd. âWe need to hide in plain sight. Dressing like the locals is our best shot to do that.â
âFind another way, besides stealing,â Sam said, taking off his black baseball cap and quickly setting it on a kidâs head that ran while chasing after his friend.
âFine, hand me your wallet,â Bucky said, extending his metal hand. Sam rolled his eyes before stopping briefly and begrudgingly gave his wallet to the super-soldier. âGood, now take off your jacket.â Without hesitation, the captain slid out of his jacket and tossed it over to Bucky.
Sam watched as Bucky quickly ducked over to an open clothing stall, and greeted a local merchant woman in Yoruba, a smirk spreading across his face as he pointed at a few clothing items and then pointed in Samâs direction. The woman smiled brightly looking back and forth between the two of them as Bucky handed over a few bills from the wallet along with Samâs jacket for a short-sleeve button-up shirt with a blue geometric print, a Nigerian football polo, and two brightly colored baseball caps. Bucky said something else quickly, causing the woman to giggle while she placed one of the caps on his head and pinched his cheek.
The entire exchange probably lasted no more than thirty seconds, but Sam couldnât help but be enthralled in the moment. First, Bucky knew Yoruba? How many languages did he learn as the Winter Soldier? Second, what exactly did he say to that woman to get her light up like a Christmas tree? What did Bucky tell her about him?
âWhat did you say to her?â Sam asked as Bucky approached quickly.
âIâll tell you later,â Bucky replied, tossing the polo in Samâs direction and placing a blue and pink cap on his own head. âPut that on.â
As they continued weaving their way through the crowd, Sam slipped the polo on over his t-shirt. The shirt was a bit snug, hugging his chest tightly. What the hell had Bucky bought him? âLooking good, Samuel,â Bucky said, giving him a once over with a glint in his eyes and a smirk playing on the corners of his mouth. He then threw the button-up over his own short-sleeve shirt (which he didnât bother to button) and set the other cap on Samâs head backward. âThere you go, now you look like a real local.â
âYou know that was one of my favorite jackets that you gave away.â
âDonât like the shirt I just bought you? I think it suits you. Shows off all those shield throwing muscles.â
âYou mean the shirt I just bought me?â
âSemantics.â
âWhere are you guys?â JoaquĂnâs voice called over their earpieces once more.
âBlending in.â Buckyâs smile faded, as he responded. âI count six agents trying to track us. What does the bird say?â
âRedwing,â Torres began, and Bucky could sense the sass rolling off his tongue, âshows six behind you, and six approaching from the front.â
Immediately Bucky stopped them in their tracks and scanned the crowd ahead of them. Sure enough, he could make out six familiarly dressed agents scanning the crowd for them. âFuck.â Bucky cursed, âCome on.â Before Sam could react, Bucky had grabbed his hand and pulled them into a small alley between two buildings. He had been hoping they could sneak through onto another side street, but no, the alley was a dead-end into another building. âDamnit.â Bucky dropped Samâs hand, and Sam nearly sighed at the loss of contact.
Bucky groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose, âI think itâs time for guns, Sam.â
âDo you see how many people there are out there? They will all be caught in the crossfire. Do you really want that?â Of course, Bucky didnât want that. Sam knew - hell was there for - the nightmares Bucky experienced because of people becoming collateral damage for the Winter Soldier. Heâd been there to talk Bucky through the aftermath of them when he was willing to talk and fix a cup of coffee or hot tea when he wasnât. The pain and guilt in his eyes for something he had no control over⊠that look alone hurt Sam, he couldnât even imagine how much it hurt Bucky. No, he would not allow Bucky to feel that pain any more than he already was - you know, on top of not harming the civilians. âWe need an alternative plan.â
âTheyâll be approaching you in about forty-five seconds, Cap. Whatâs the plan?â
âI have an idea,â Bucky said, looking up at Sam, a look of uncertainty across his face. âSteve told me once about one of Natashaâs plans that they used years back to slip away from Rumlow and the rest of HYDRAâs agents. It could work.â
âOne of Natâs plans? Hell, itâs got to be good. What is it?â
âDonât know if youâll be up for it.â
âBuck, weâve got twelve bullets and a metal arm between the two of us, and I - and the US government - would like to avoid using any of them if possible. If Natâs plan doesnât require using those, Iâm down. Does it?â
âNo guns, no weapons of any kind actually.â
âAlright, then Iâm up for it. Whatâs the plan?â
âNot a lot of time to explain. Really going to just have to show you.â
âWell, go on with it then.â
âThirty seconds.â
âDo you trust me?â Bucky asked, a question directed only to Sam, sincerity in his eyes.Â
Do you trust me? What kind of bullshit question is that? Sam thought. Of course, he trusted Bucky. Theyâd been going on missions together for months since they stopped the flag smashers and theyâve had each otherâs sixes constantly since then. He'd welcomed Bucky into his home to be around his family - and practically live there. Sam Wilson trusted Bucky Barnes with his life, with his familyâs lives. No questions about it. Attraction (or deep-seated feelings) aside, how could Bucky not know that by now?
âWe donât have time for this, Buck.â Sam protested, peeking around the corner of the alley to look for the approaching agents.
âI need an answer, Sam.â
âFifteen seconds, whatever youâre going to do, hurry it up!â
Groaning, Sam said, âFine, yes, I trust you. Now, will you just-â Before Sam could finish scolding him, Bucky had swiftly pushed the captain back against the brick wall, and covered his lips with his own.Â
Bucky had his metal hand securely on Samâs hip, while his flesh had cupped Samâs left cheek simultaneously holding him in place and pulling him as close to the soldier as possible. To say Sam was surprised was an understatement, but it only took him a few seconds to just let go and relax under Buckyâs touch. Buckyâs lips were wet and warm, and moved effortlessly against Samâs. Sam wasnât sure what compelled the super soldier to do this, but at that moment Sam didnât care. This mission at hand and the approaching agents faded from his thoughts as he melted into the kiss he had secretly been waiting for.
Buckyâs tongue swiped across Samâs lower lip, asking for entrance, which Sam immediately obliged, letting him deepen their kiss. As he did so, Sam roughly fisted the collar of Bucky's new button-down, tugging him forward as he tried to eliminate any distance between the two. Buckyâs flesh hand ghosted down Samâs neck, then his left arm, and his side, leaving a trail of goosebumps in its wake before it settled under the hem of Samâs shirt, before settling on his lower back. The touch sent a shiver up Samâs spine and he let out a small moan, which Bucky easily swallowed with another kiss.
Sam couldnât remember the last time that he had been kissed like this - so passionate, yet so gentle. In an attempt to make it a little less so, Sam let go of Buckyâs collar and snaked his hands up to the base of Buckyâs neck, and buried his hands as deeply as he could in his short dark locks, giving them a tug. The moan that followed this action, was much louder than Samâs, and almost resembled a growl. Damn, Sam loved that sound and knew heâd do anything to make Bucky elicit that sound again, and again.
Bucky responded by kissing Sam harder than before, and pushing himself closer to him, settling his body into between Samâs legs, as he moved to deepen the kiss once more. He gripped Samâs hips so hard he was sure they were going to bruise, but Sam loved every second of it.
He didnât know how long they had been like this - seconds, minutes, hours - it didnât matter. Time had stopped the moment their lips touched, and everything else around them had faded, which is exactly why Bucky had to be the first to pull away - because Sam wouldnât have dreamed of it.
Bucky had disconnected their lips, but both of his hands lightly rested on Samâs hips. âSam,â he breathed, his words barely coming out above a whisper before he swallowed hard.
Sam loosened his grip on the Sergeantâs shirt but still rested his hands against his chest. âWhat... was... that?â He asked, a bit dazed. He was breathing heavily and his hooded eyes lingering on Buckyâs pink, slightly swollen lips.
After a moment, Bucky responded, âPublic displays of affection make people uncomfortable.â Sam hummed in response, but only because he couldnât string any other words together. All he was thinking about was that uncomfortable was not the word that he would use to describe what just happened at all. âWhen I kissed you the agents only looked for a second before turning away and going right past us.âÂ
When did Bucky have time to look for some damn agents during that fucking unbelievable kiss (more like a make-out session if you asked Sam)? âThey did?â
âYeah.â Sam needed a minute to let the words sink in. The kiss was just a part of a plan. Natâs plan. A kiss as a distraction/cover. Of fucking course that was a Romanoff plan. A damn good plan, but he couldnât help but feel the sting of thinking that the kiss - that fucking amazing kiss - was supposed to be⊠strategic.Â
For weeks he had been battling over this lingering feeling of wanting something more with Bucky than just a partnership⊠until this moment of crushing realization, it felt like they had possibly moved to the next step.
Then again, if it was just strategic, why was Bucky still so close to him? He hadnât made any attempt to move away, still holding Sam against the wall - albeit, without the arousing force he had minutes before.
âDo you think theyâre all gone?â Sam asked, loosening his grip just enough for his hand to rest on the sides of Buckyâs neck.
âProbably.â
âBut not for certain?â Sam questioned, rubbing his thumbs along Buckyâs strong, stubble-covered jawline, and down his throat. His fingers grazed over Buckyâs pulse point, and he could easily feel the artery pounding beneath the surface.
âWould probably need some more recon to confirm that.â
âWell until then, better to be safe than sorry, right?â Sam dared, doing anything he could to get Buckyâs lips back on his. From the way, the soldierâs heart was racing Sam could only hope that maybe, just maybe, Bucky would want to kiss him again, too.
âRight,â Bucky breathed, and without hesitation, leaned forward once again to kiss Sam, only to be interrupted a minute later, by Torresâ voice in their coms calling for their attention.Â
âCap, Sarge.â This time, when Bucky pulled away he dropped his hands and took a few steps back, instantly putting a few feet between the two partners. The captain silently cursed Joaquin and his incredibly terrible timing. âIâve got eyes on them, theyâre headed back to base. You should be in the clear.â
âOkay, good,â Bucky said, a little too quickly for Samâs liking. âWe should be back at the safehouse in 20 minutes. Gotta run an alternate route just in case weâre being followed.â
âGot it,â Torres said, signing off.Â
Bucky quickly removed the earpiece before shoving it deep into his pocket. He looked around the corner, scanning the crowd before motioning for Sam to follow. âCome on, itâs hot as fuck out here, and I need a shower.â
Yeah, me too. A fucking cold one, Sam thought.

âletters strewn across your bedroom floor. such beautiful words but you canât remember who theyâre forâ
previous chapter
His memories had always been foggy. Even after slipping from HYDRAâs control, his memories were still foggy. He could remember almost everything through a sepia-like filter yet his memory as even more distorted the moment he looked at her. He had this gut wrenching feeling he had known her yet his foggy red tinted memories gave him no answer as to who this woman was and whenever he tried digging deeper into his subconscious. he would just get tired. Almost as if his own mind did not allow him to know her but he knew he mustâve seen her face or her figure somewhere and if he hadnât then he mustâve known her in another life because whenever he looked at her, he felt comfortable. It was an odd sensation to explain, a deja-vu like feeling, a feeling which made him want to run up to her and held her into his arms but she was a stranger. Everything was strange here even Wanda who despite him having shared a few words with, looked so distant.
   - When did Wanda have time to have two ten year olds? - Sam threw himself to one of the beds in the room the two of them had been assigned to. Sharon had gotten a different room yet Sam and Bucky were bunking together like 13 year old campers. - Also can she resuscitate people now? I mean, heâs an android but nevertheless. Oh my god, how did an android and a human had kids?
   - Do you trust them? Sharon isnât too convinced.
   - Well, Wanda fought by our side so did Vision and Fury and Hill are with them. Unless they all turned evil, I think we can somewhat trust them.Â
   - I donât know, Sam. I ... I donât trust the girl.
   - Theyâre almost all girls, cyborg brain. Be specific. Did specificity did not exist in the 40s?
   - The one who dropped her gun first.
   - Maybe, sheâs Pierceâs kid or so says Sharon. Maybe you used to babysit her.Â
   - No, I ...
   - Sergeant Barnes ... - Monica knocked on the door before allowing herself into the bedroom. - There were some letters in the file written by you. We believe it is not our right to intrude onto your privacy so we wanted to give them to you.Â
   - God, every time I discover something about you, it makes you sound even older than you are. - Sam leaned against the bed frame as Bucky warringly took the letters from the Monica who left the room once her job was done.
The paper had grown old with time, yellowing around the borders of the Red Room envelopes they used to give the girls who behaved well enough so they could send their parents some news. He remembered stealing a few to try and write any memories which came through so he wouldnât forget them when the officers erased him. Somehow they always found the letters yet there it was in his hands, a big stack of letters which seemingly hadnât been destroyed. It was his handwriting that much he knew, however he did not know who Daisy was, he did not know who had the name to which the letters were addressed to.Â
   - Who did you write letters to? Steve?
   - Daisy. - he didnât mean to reply but those words just seemed to flow naturally from him and he was entranced by the name in his handwriting alone.Â
The snow felt step onto the ground, it was cold, cold enough everyone was wearing jackets inside despite the heater being on and he seemed to have been transported back into his memories. Everyone was cold and covered but not her and no matter how hard he tried to make up her face, it was fogged up in his memory but he could see her, he could see her in her strap black ballet top and worn out pink ballerina shoes which she had particularly asked Madam B not to be replaced. He could see her, but he couldnât make her out, he didnât know who she was.Â
  - Daisy, youâre going to get sick. - Bucky could hear himself speak but he wasnât speaking, he wasnât there, he was just reliving a memory.Â
  - Donât call me Daisy. I hate it when you call me Daisy.
  - Hey, cyborg brain? Are you ok? - Samâs voice was echoey until he touched his shoulder and then he was harshly brought back to reality. - Donât bug out on me, I donât know how to reset you.Â
  - Yeah, just thinking.
The night was long, too long and he spent every minute of it reading every single letter he had written this woman until they were all spread out across the floor of the room; but we loved with a love that was more than love me and my Daisy, Iâm sorry Daisy, I miss you Daisy. Daisy, Daisy, Daisy, Daisy. He had read that name more than a hundred times and he still couldnât remember who she was yet he knew he loved her or that he had loved her. The more he tried to remember it, the more his head hurt, the more the blurry memories turned red. He didnât known who this woman who had meant so much to him was. He shoved those letters under the bed and left the room while Sam was sleeping. He need to clear his head, clearly this woman hadnât meant that much to him if he couldnât remember her, but he knew it was a lie. He knew she mattered.
The sounds of his shoes against the floor made him forget about her, her the ghost of a woman he loved. He continued to walk, watching the walls surrounding him until a glass wall broke the continuous light blue of the walls. He peeked through it and there it was, the woman he felt he knew in a black suit on pointe. He was hypnotised by the constant plié to on pointe as if it was nothing. Bucky went around, opening the door to watch her more closely.
  - How do you do it? - he asked, taking her by surprise. Turning around, she had fear in her eyes as she took a step back, something Bucky was used to. It no longer hurt as it used to. - The feet thing. I ... my sister used to watch ballet and they always did that.Â
  - Oh, uhm ... itâs all about supporting your body weight onto your toes and wearing the right pair of shoes.
  - Iâm Bucky, by the way ... Uhm, thank you for not killing us.Â
  - Iâm Y/N. - she extended her hand to shake his. - Is the room alright? Do you need anything?
  - Do you know who Daisy is? Sharon said your father is Pierce so I thou ...
  - I donât. - she interrupted him. - I donât really know a lot about my fatherâs private life. Iâm sorry.
  - Youâre too early for ... - Yelena entered the room in tactical gear, stopping once she saw someone other than Y/N. Her eyes searched for Y/Nâs who were begging for help. - Fight training. Closed off fight training.
  - Right, I ... I was just looking for the kitchen. - he said but was still gazing her eyes
  - Iâll take you. - the blonde Russian gave him a tight smile, pointing towards the door and exiting with him.
The air that seemed to have been previously held on her chest came out almost in a wave and she felt herself slide against the mirrored wall until she was sat on the floor, head looking at the tall ceiling as if she were in catatonic state, and maybe she was, she didnât know. How could she know if whenever he spoke to her all she could hear was that piano, that damned low piano and the mirage of him, the mirage of the life she wanted with him in Westview. She looked at her shoes, worn out, the pink satin which one was shiny new had black worn out spots over where there used to be an embroidered daisy. She was glad it was gone, she was glad it wouldnât return. Nevertheless, she could still feel her ... Agatha, poking at whatever protected her mind. She could almost hear her calling out to her with promises of all she wanted. They had always gone after her ... the weak link, the one whose will was easy to break. It was no mistake the red room had given her the nickname Daisy out of all flowers they couldâve picked. She was easily broken, manipulated to be a strong fighter but easily broken by those who knew. She wondered if the Red Room was still out looking for her, looking for Yelena ... she wondered what control they still held over her, what control her father had over her. Both knew she was alive, both had tortured her with tapes of ... him. They knew she was alive, it was only a cat and mouse game until they took her away. Their experiment. Their unsuccessful successful experiment.Â
  - God, heâs awfully chattier than I remember. - Yelena walked into the room, eyes lowering to where she was. - Who told you to take a break? Get up and fight me.Â
  - He knows.
  - Chill, Y/N. He didnât even know what a waffle maker was until now. Heâs not gonna break through whatever you made Wanda do to him which, by the way, Iâm against. - the blonde sat next to her. - You let Monica hand him the letters, of course heâs gonna wonder who Daisy is. Terrible name.
  - Iâm sorry, Yelena, not everyone had the pleasure of having the code name Hyacinth. - Y/N teased.
  - It was a great code name. The best code name.
  - No, it wasnât.
  - Want the morning off? I could spar with Monica or Alexei. - Yelena gave her a kind look and an offer she couldnât refuse. Last thing she wanted to do was to spar with anyone in her mindset. Yelena understood it, her too having dealt with her own trauma inflicted by the Red Room. In times like these, both girls had learned to leave each other alone to cope with whatever demons they had.
Y/N dragged her knees up to her chest like a kid, hair falling in front of her eyes as she fished for the dog tags under her shirt. She ripped them from her neck, letting the old metal tags slide through her fingers. She clenched the memorabilia of past emotions against her chest.Â
 - Yelena said you were gloom. - Wanda walked into the room still in her pyjamas. - Besides your shield is down and your thoughts are loud. You ought to learn to control it someday.
 - Well, you seem to love getting in peopleâs minds.
 - Not yours. Whenever I get the particular pleasure of doing it ... - she sat next to her, still in her dressing gown. - Youâre either feeling guilty or in such pain. I think itâs time you speak about it.
 - Sheâs still in my mind ... Agatha. She lingers.Â
  - What does she know? She couldnât even give you an actually accurate mirage of Bucky. Two arms? Please.Â
  - Sheâs gonna be after us non-stop, Wanda. She will pair forces with Ross to get what she wants and then all of this will be as worthless as it was. With Zemo if she needs too ...Â
  - She canât get to you, okay? - Wanda gave her a kind smile, the type of smile she gave the twins whenever one of them was sad but this time it didnât help. She could hear her voice calling out for her, she could see the purple tint in her nightmares and while Monica and Wanda had learned to deal with it, mostly ignoring it, she could fell the witchâs influence in her stronger than ever.Â
She remained laid against the wall of the training room even after Wanda was gone. She looked at the ceiling, fingers toying around with the humidity in the air making it fall onto the ground like rain. Fitting, she thought. Yet again, whatever she could do always seemed to mirror whatever she thought or felt like. It was past midday when she made her way from the gym to her bedroom to get dressed. She knew better than to leave the hex unaccompanied but what surrounded it was wilderness and she always felt at peace in wilderness, the soft sounds of birds chirping and the water falls always made her forget the screams from the red room, the purple aura from Agatha ... it just didnât make her forget Bucky. She had always wanted to see him again, to apologise ... to ... she didnât know what to do, she just knew she got tongue tied whenever she saw him, the guilt eating her alive.
  - Well, hello dear. - Y/N turned around, eyes shining white behind her iris as Agatha stood there in her purple peplum dress. - Thereâs no need for a fight, dear. I just want to talk.
  - Well, I donât ... - she took a fighting stance but the woman merely shrugged.
  - I just came to give you a shoulder to cry. Word on the street is that your Bucky is around. Isnât that wonderful, dear?
  - Based on your illusion of him, Iâd think you wouldnât even recognise him.Â
  - You know, youâll always be my favourite out of the three girls. You and I are very similar, my dear. Besides, I can help you, I know how your powers work and itâs not for cheap tricks. I can help you with him, I know what it is like to have someone take the person who you love the most be taken for you but I can help you, dear. You and me, we can get what we want, what itâs rightfully yours.
   - Heâs not mine. - she meant her words to come strong, swiftly like the thunderstorm winds yet they faltered, as if they were only now registering in her mind.Â
   - You know, dearest ... the good thing about the soul stone is that it made you who you are. The bad thing is, youâre not gonna be able to control what it gave you if your soul is in disarray. The more your mind battles, the more your ability will take hold of you.
   - What do you mean?
   - Why do you think Wanda got more powerful when things were falling apart in Westview?
   - Y/N! - Monicaâs voice made Agatha disappear in a cloud of purple mist. Y/N turned her head to the side to see Monica make her way through the trees, decked out in her fighting outfit. - What are you doing here? You missed the early morning brief and youâre in ... whatever youâre wearing.
   - I just needed some time off. - she smiled. - Why are you in battle gear?
   - Darcyâs sure one of the books must be in the Red Room ... the one where you were trained. - Monica sighed, less than happy to have to bring Y/N back to that place but if there was someone who could navigate it, it was her. - Yelena was not trained by ... him, so she does not know. Y/N, I donât think ... I think you and him should talk.Â
  - Thereâs nothing to talk about. - she forced a smile, following Monica back into the hex. - We are different people, besides ... I donât think he would forgive me at all.
  - Can you at least tell me what happened? What happened with him, what happened in Westview? Wanda says youâre in pain and I donât want you to be in pain. You helped me when I was in pain, I wanna help you too. Weâve known each other for what? Five years discounting the Thanos thing? Six?
  - I will talk about it someday. Just not today.
  - Are you in the headspace to go with us? We can always try and see what Sergeant Barnes remembers if youâre not up to it. Â
  - I am a professional agent. - she smiled. - Iâm always prepared.
The sooner we get this book situation sorted, the sooner she wouldnât have to look at him anymore. At least thatâs what she thought and as such she had no problem returning to the place which she had escaped from years and years ago. Nevertheless, she was first and foremost an agent, someone who fought for others and for once she had to do just that. Be professional.Â
She got dressed in her traditional black tactic gear and jacket before heading down to the room where they kept most of their ammunition. It had been Jimmyâs idea to arm everyone involved in a mission just in case despite Y/N, Wanda and Monica being capable to hold their own without it. Even so, having a knife or a gun on them had made wonders before. Normally the people they go against arenât exactly fair and she had learned that the hard way. As she opened the door to the ammunition room, she came face to face with him lacing up his boots. It was the most common action yet it felt so foreign to see him do it, to see him be in control of lacing up his own shoe laces. Part of her was happy for him, happy he was happy, happy he was his own person but the other part of her screamed for her to let it go of her insecurities, he was not the same man she had known and she was definitely not the same woman. She was guilty for more than half his pain and that, that remained the same.Â
Y/N ignored him, sliding past him to grab her own utility belt which was really nothing special except for the fact she had gotten everyone important in her life to carve their initials in them. Her point was if she was dying on the field, she had least had something which reminded her of the love which regardless of every bad thing she had done, still remained. She wrapped her belt around her waist and thigh, yet nevertheless it was still too loose. Damned belt.
  - Youâre putting it wrong. - Buck mumbled.
  - Pardon?
  - The belt. - he got up and walked up to her. - The second strap ... itâs too low on your thigh, should be higher.
  - Oh ... - she moved her gaze away from him.
  - Here. May I? - he asked her, hoping to meet her gaze but she merely nodded still looking the other way. Bucky unclasped the strap from her thigh, bringing it up further up, his knuckles brushing against the fabric of her trousers. She slowly moved her gaze to look at him and he fixed her belt before he moved up, eyes staring into hers. They seemed to look at each other for a lifetime, before he cleared his throat. - It should be better now.
  - Uhm ... thank you, Sergeant Barnes.
  - Cyborg brain, how long does it take to lace up some boots? - Samâs voice reverberated through the room making the two take each a step back going back to the distance between them.Â
  - I have to go. - Y/N grabbed her jacket, exiting the room as fast as she could.
The plane ride was equally unbearable with her sat in front of him, catching his eyes every once in a while. God, she used to love his eyes. She still remembered being tangled in grey worn out sheets, laying across his chest just looking at him, looking at those eyes which always looked the same even when he forgot her. Those blue eyes, they were always the same despite the two of them being different people from who they were in the Red Room. Speaking of the devil, it no longer looked like one. It was falling down, the once crown jewel of HYDRA had worn out with time. The red walls were fading to brown, the spotless rooms were now filled with dust and ghosts of memories. It was gone, so how come it still haunted her?
  - Wanda and Sharon will take east, me and Sam west, Alexei and Yelena south and Y/N you can take north with Sergeant Barnes. - Monica suggested. Y/N shot her a way too familiar look, almost as if she were about to argue with her yet she understood the basis of her decision. After all, not everyone had ... a something controlling power.Â
She took charge into the very familiar north wing of the building. They kept most off the girls who were yet to pass to the red room there and it had been her home for years. Bucky however, was remembering things which he couldnât fully understand. He knew this place yet he didnât remember walking these halls, he remembered the pain. He could still feel the pain, the much too familiar pain of having all he knew be gone.
  - Youâll take the right and I the left? Sergeant Barnes? - she put her hand on his hand, almost magically taking him away from ghosts of his pain. - Do you want to stop?
  - Yeah, Iâll take the left. - he rebuffed her, turning left.
The room seemed to take him in, memories of his own strained voice as he yelled out for some mercy returned to his consciousness, memories of things he had said, things he hadnât said. He swiftly turned around, turning his gun to the door before turning back again to see a woman standing in front of him.
  - Woah lower the gun down, dear. - she had an eerily smile on her lips. Buck took a step back slowly but she moved her hand, a purple glow followed by the sound of the door closing. - Iâm only here to help.
  - Y/N ... - he tapped his intercom but no sound came from it.
  - Yes, thatâs exactly who we are talking about. You see I know who Daisy is, she knows who Daisy is. - she took a file from under her shirt. - Everyone knows who Daisy is but you. Now, I think itâs really unfair you donât know so I decided to even out the game.
She threw the file onto the ground before disappearing. God, at least back in the 40s people only removed their faces. Bucky looked around, wearingly of his surroundings much more than he was before. This room. was playing with his mind yet the file laying on the ground proved the woman wasnât a mere mirage of his mind. He kneeled down too grab the file, opening it to reveal a passport photo of Y/N accompanied by an information sheet. He read through the first lines quickly until one particular fact stopped him. Known aliases: Daisy.

ONE HUNDRED TWENTY NINE - THE FINAL BATTLEÂ (1)
LEGACY: A Tony Stark Daughter Story
FULL STORY MASTERLIST
ENDING ONE MASTERLIST
< previous
Word Count: 1,660ish
Summary: The final battle begins.
~~~
We were all thrown in different directions. Steve quickly grabbed onto me to try to shield me from the blast. The impact, along with all the emotions, caused me to be easily knocked out. Steve also fell unconscious. Tony got up and quickly found the two of us, finding Steveâs lost shield in the process. He knelt down between us and gently shook the two of us.Â
âCome on, guys. Wake up,â he urged. Steve moved first. âThatâs my man.â Â
Tony held up the shield for the Captain to take. âYou lose this again, Iâm keeping it.âÂ
Tony turned to me. âBailey, kid⊠Get up.â
I groaned. âWhat happened?â I asked.
âWe messed with time. It tends to mess back. Youâll see.â Tony helped me up and then Cap. âYou okay, B?â
âMmhmm,â I nodded. âIâm fine. It was just a lot of emotions all at once⊠Everyoneâs definitely back.â
When we walked out of the ruble we were in, we found Thor looking down at the destroyed facility. I followed his eyes to see what he was looking at to find Thanos sitting on a pile of debris.Â
I looked into the villainâs mind. He was the 2014 version of Thanos. He had found out that he had been successful in the future because of the 2023 Nebula and he switched them out. How had I not seen that? He knew that we were trying to undo his plan. Thanos was leading us into a trap.
âWhatâs he been doing?â Tony asked.
âAbsolutely nothing,â Thor answered, his eyes not moving from their target.
âWhere are the stones?â Cap asked.
âSomewhere under all this,â Tony answered, motioning to the rumble.Â
âIâm in his head. He definitely doesnât have them,â I cut in. âNor does he know where they are.âÂ
âSo we keep it that way,â Cap instructed.Â
âYou know itâs a trap, right?â Thor said.
âYeah,â Tony replied. âAnd I donât much care.â
âGood⊠Just as long as we are all in agreement.â Thunder and lightning made their presence none as Thor summoned Stormbreaker and 2013 Mjolnir. âLetâs kill him properly this time.âÂ
I began walking with the three of them, but soon Tony glanced over and the three of them stopped. They turned to me and I already knew what they were planning on doing.
âI can read your minds, you know that right?â I said. âIâm fighting with you guys. Iâve already been in his head and he hasnât even noticed yet. I can help.â I grabbed one of Tonyâs hands and one of Steveâs. âI know what you are going to say. You want me safe. Well I canât be safe when my home has just been destroyed and you are here fighting. I can help. Iâve trained for this.â
Tony nodded once in response before hugging me and giving me a kiss on the cheek. âI love you,â he whispered.
âI love you too.â
I turned to Steve, who quickly pulled me into his arms. âI canât lose you,â he whispered. âPlease, go home to Pepper and Morgan.â
âThis is my home, too. And I wonât leave unless you and Tony do.â
âThis isnât going to end pretty⊠Weâre going to lose peopleâŠâ
âI know.â I pecked his lips quickly before resting my head back on his chest. âIâm still not leaving.â
âYouâre so stubborn.â
I pulled away to look at him. âWeâre going to end this. Once and for all. Whatever it takes.â
âWhatever it takes. I love you.â
âI love you too.âÂ
We shared a brief kiss before the four of us continued towards the Mad Titan. Thanos was still sitting on the pile of debris, watching us carefully. I was waiting for the right time to enter his mind once again.
âYou could not live with your own failure,â the purple giant started. âAnd where did that bring you? Back to me. I thought by eliminating half of life, the other half would thrive. But youâve shown me thatâs impossible. And as long as there are those that remember what was, there will always be those that are unable to accept what can be. They will resist.â
âYep. Weâre all kinds of stubborn,â Tony shot back. We all moved around, surrounding the Mad Titan on all sides.Â
âIâm thankful. Because now, I know what I must do.â He stood up. âI will shred this universe down to its last atom.â He put his helmet on. âAnd then⊠with the stones youâve collected for me, create a new one. Teeming with life, but knows not what it has lost but only what I has been given. A grateful universe.â
âBorn out of blood,â Cap stated.
âTheyâll never know it. Because you wonât be alive to tell them.â
The four of us began attacking him from all sides. Punching, kicking, shooting, throwing, every thing we could do.Â
Tony landed in front of Thor at one point, a target on his suit opening up.Â
âOkay, Thor,â Tony called. âHit me.â
Thor summoned lightning and then hit his two hammers together, directing the lightning to Tonyâs suit.Â
The suit took in the energy and shot it all at Thanos. Thor then used Mjolnir to hit Thanos as I attacked from behind. Thanos used Tony as a shield from Thor resulting in his suit being damaged. Thanos then threw Tony to the side.
âDad!â I shouted as he landed on the ground. I knew that he had passed out.
Steve then tried to attack Thanos but was easily shielded away. Thor then went after him but was blocked by a sword. Thor began to be beaten and choked by Thanos. I quickly tried to help but was tossed to the side. Thor tried to reach for Stormbreaker but Thanos grabbed it quickly and began using it against Thor. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Mjolnir lifting off the ground, the hammer flying into Steveâs hand. Thanos watched in amazement as I smirked.Â
âI knew it!â Thor excitedly proclaimed.
Thanos kicked Thor back to the ground before turning to Steve. Steve charged at Thanos while swinging Mjolnir, successfully hitting Thanos in the face and knocking him down. Â
He then threw his shield at the Man Titan who deflected it. Mjolnir is then thrown to the Captainâs shield, creating a shockwave and knocking Thanos off his feet. I finally got back up after being in shock at watching Steve fight using both his shield and Mjolnir. I began shooting at him as Steve summoned lightning, aiming it at Thanos, and the Titan tried to get the upper hand.Â
And it wasnât that hard for him to. He grabbed me by the neck and I quickly got into his head. He could feel me this time.
âWhat are you looking for, my child?â He asked.
âYour-r⊠w-weaknessâŠâ I stuttered, grabbing at his hands to let me go.
âBailey!â Steve shouted.Â
I glanced to the side as Mjolnir flew passed and barely missed hitting the giant purple grape that was clinging onto me. I pushed harder into his mind. Gamora was still alive, still one of his weaknesses but not like the other Thanos. Nebula definitely wasnât his weakness. Getting the Stones were but I couldnât figure out how to use that against him. He began to squeeze my neck harder as I ventured further into his mind.
âGet out!â Thanos frustratedly demanded.Â
He gave my neck one final squeeze before tossing me on top of Thor. Thor tried his best to protect us both as I collided with him. He laid me down in his lap, I was coughing and my helmet disappeared into my suit. Thor began brushing my hair out of my face.
âItâs okay,â he tried to sooth. âIâve got youâŠâ
âW-whereâsâŠâ I coughed. âmy dad?â
âI donât know,â Thor shook his head. I began to push myself off of him.Â
âI have to find him.â As the two of us helped each other up, a crackling noise came through the coms. We glanced at each other.
âCap,â the voice sounded familiar, but it wasnât one I hand heard in a long time. âyou read me?â Steve immediately stopped walking towards Thanos and his army.Â
We made eye contact. Hope finally making its way to both our eyes. âCap, itâs Sam,â the voice sounded through the coms again. âCan you hear me?âÂ
I glanced behind Steve as I saw a yellow portal, similar to the ones I saw Dr. Strange and Wong use five years ago, begin to form behind him. âOn your left.â
Steve looked behind him to see the portal. Three figures step through, Okoye, Shuri, and TâChalla, all ready to fight. Â
Sam zoomed through from above in his Falcon armor. Then dozens of more portals opened up around our side of the battlefield. I watched all of them open, finally seeing my once fallen friends, family.Â
Dr. Strange and Peter, oh my precious brother Peter, came through the same portal and I almost cried at the sight.
The Wakandan army came through as well as the Asgardians and the Masters of the Mystic Arts. I saw Wanda and Bucky, making eye contact with him. He gave me a strained smile. I finally caught site of my father lying the the ground and ran up to him.
âDad!â I said, crouching down besides him.Â
All of a sudden, a purple and silver Iron Man suit landed in front of the two of us. The mask flipped open to reveal my mother, Pepper.Â
âMom?â I asked as I walk over to her.
âYou think you and your father are the only ones in this family that can put up a fight?â She retorted.
As all of our side gathers together, Pepper and I hover up above them. Seeing everyone back brought me so much joy, but what we were about to do scared me. Everyone just came back, and we could lose them all again in a more permanent way.
âAvengers!âÂ
I heard Steve shout as he summoned Mjolnir.
ââŠassemble.âÂ
We all then charged at Thanos and his army. Ready to end this once and for all.Â
Where Happiness Begins - Peter Parker
Chapter Three: Hesitate
//WHB Masterlist//
 // Series tags: @writingsbychlo @fandom-princess-forevermore @rosegoldhome @mc225g @peterparker-glee-other @olliekookie // Series inspo : @stuckonspidey @cxptain-capsicle //
Word Count: 5,442
Pairing: Peter x Stark!Reader
Summary: Despite not wanting to fight, she does. She stands her ground and does what she has to. But in the midst of the biggest fight sheâs faced, Y/N hesitates. She doesnât pull a punch or run from the fight, but she just stops for a moment to take in just what Peter is capable of. Even if she doensât realize she did.
After leaving the hotel that morning, everything was a blur. You didnât remember driving to that airport or putting your suit on. You didnât remember greeting Nat, Vision, and Rhodey. You didnât remember meeting TâChalla. It seemed like nothing was real until you were across from Steve. Suddenly, everything became too real.
âYou can sit this one out, Y/N/N.â Your dad said gently, sensing your uncertainty.
âCame this far, havenât I?â You shrugged. âIâll be alright. I promise.â
âAlright.. Hang here for a sec.â He said before leaving with Rhodey. You watched from your hiding place, your helmet now covering your face.
âWow, itâs so weird how you run into people at the airport. Donât you think thatâs weird?â Tony said when he landed in front of Steve.
âDefinitely weird.â Rhodey agreed. You chuckled a little.
âHear me out, Tony.â Steve began. Your ears perked up. Was it possible you didnât have to fight? âThat doctor, the psychiatrist, heâs behind all of this.â
âEnough talk.â TâChalla groaned before leaping out and landing a few feet behind Tony and Rhodey. âCaptain.â He greeted Steve.
âYour highness.â Steve nodded.
âSo much for that.â You sighed, staying put.
âAnyways, Ross gave me 36 hours to bring you in. That was 24 hours ago. Can you help a brother out?â Tony stepped in.
âYouâre after the wrong guy.â Steve tried.
âYour judgement is askew.â Tony countered. âYour old war buddy killed innocent people yesterday.â
âAnd there are five more super soldiers just like him⊠I canât let the doctor find them first, Tony, I canât.â He shook his head.
âStay here and wait for my dadâs signal.â You mumbled to Peter, who nodded quickly, before stepping out and headed towards your dad. âIf everyone is making their entrances, I guess itâs my turn. Hold your applause.â You tried to make light of a tough situation as your helmet collapsed to expose your face.
âY/N?â Steve said in shock. âWhat are you doing here?â
âMoral support.â You shrugged. âI wasnât going to leave my dad to do this alone. Heâs already against you.â
âSeriously, Tony?â Steve asked your dad. âYou brought Y/N into this?â
âExcuse you, Cap.â You answered. âI brought myself into this. Did you really think Iâd let my dad come  out here without my help? You should know me better than that.â
âThis isnât your fight and you know it.â
âWell, that makes two of us fighting fights we shouldnât be, doesnât it?â You said sarcastically.
Steve sighed dramatically. âWhatâs that supposed to mean?â
âBarnes.â You said plainly, as if it should be obvious. âYouâre trying to clear his name when that isnât your fight. Itâs his. And yet youâd risk everything and everyone for one man. How many lives is Barnes worth, Steve?â
Peter watched you in awe. You were so sure of yourself out there, so confident. It was so clear that you knew what you were capable, just how much of a weapon you truly were. Though you were humble and would never brag about it, Peter could see that you knew. He watched how you kept your head high, how you werenât afraid to make eye contact with Captain America. You refused to be talked down to, refused to be treated a child. You were just so powerful.
âYou donât know what youâre talking about.â
âYou donât know what I know.â You challenged.
âSteve, you know whatâs about to happen.â Nat said carefully as she approached Steve. âDo you really wanna punch your way out of this one?â
Steve looked between you and your dad. You could see his chest rise and fall with a heavy sigh. You didnât feel so out of place knowing that Steve didnât want a fight either. Not saying that Tony did, but Tony was more willing to fight. Even if Steve had pushed your last button by talking down to you, he was still family. But if it was a fight he wanted, itâs a fight he was gonna get.
âAlright, Iâve run out of patience.â Your dad sighed. âUnderoos!â
A small smile fought its way to your face as you knew he was calling for Peter. It seemed like even though everything was blurry and messy, you remember hearing the conversation between those two, establishing Peterâs new nickname. It was cute. The nickname, not Peter⊠Well not not PeterâŠ
Peter shot his web at Steveâs shield as he flipped over the crowd. He yanked the web back, pulling the shield back to him, shooting another web to lock the captainâs hands together. He landed gracefully, the eyes of his mask adjusting to the scene in front of him. You pumped your fist slightly, whispering a cheer as you saw the new suit in action. It moved as easily as water flowed, stretched and twisted with every movement Peter made. Seeing Peter in action in person was like watching a trained dancer.
âNice work, Y/N.â Your dad with a smirk, finally seeing the finished product. âFor one nightâs worth of work, it looks amazing.â
âDid you expect anything less?â You said confidently. âIt works just as good as it looks too.â
âNice job, kid!â Tony called to Peter, giving him a thumbs up.
âThanks!â Peter responded happily, his voice muffled by the mask. You could still hear the youth in his voice, simply by how high his voice was. âWell, I couldâve stuck the landing a little better. Itâs just a new suit-â Peter put a hand out and shook his head slightly when he saw your eyebrows raise in accusation. âWait- Itâs nothing. Y/N, itâs perfect. Thank you.â
âYeah, we donât really need to start a conversation.â Your dad interjected, waving his hand to dismiss the topic.
âOkay. Cap- Captain.â Peter waved to Steve, causing you to laugh a little. âBig fan. Spiderman.â
âWeâll talk about it later.â Tony said. âJust-â
âHey, everyone.â Peter waved.
âGreat job.â You gave him a thumbs up and a nod, which made your dad scoff.
âYouâve been busy.â Steve said with a small smile.
âAnd youâve been a complete idiot.â Tony replied quickly, growing visibly tired of the situation. âDragging in Clint, rescuing Wanda from a place she doesnât want to leave â a safe place. Iâm trying to keep-!â He began loudly before stopping to calm himself. You moved closer to Tony, giving a small nod as if to let him know everythingâs going to be fine. âIâm trying to keep you from tearing the Avengers apart.â Tony confessed.
âYou did that when you signed.â Steve countered smoothly.
âAlright, Iâm tired of this.â You sighed heavily. âEasy fix to all of this, Cap. Youâre gonna hand Barnes over. Youâre gonna come with us.â
âBecause itâs us.â Tony added. âOr a squad of JSOC guys with no compunction about being impolite.â Steve looked away, staying quiet. âCâmon.â Tony said softly. Tony didnât want to fight.
Steve looked back to your team, waiting. It was as if he was waiting for something specific, listening to something or for something. Suddenly, Steve lifted his hands and an arrow cut through Peterâs webbing. Â You and your dad dawned your helmets, turning your attention to the direction the arrow came in.
âAlright Lang.â Steve said.
âGuys, something-â Peter began before groaning. You turned as soon as you heard Peterâs voice and saw someone materializing and kicking Peter in the face, knocking him off the truck he had landed on. The man grabbed the shield from Peterâs hands and brought it to Steve.
âWoah, wait. What the hell is that?â Rhodey asked, vocalizing your exact thoughts.
You ran to Peter, helping him to his feet. You grabbed his upper arm and the opposite forearm, Peter leaning into you slightly. His balance found him quickly as did his wits.
âYou okay?â You asked quickly.
âYeah, Iâm fine.â He said, rubbing his jaw slightly. âWhere did he even come from?!â
âBelieve this is yours, Captain America.â The guy, who you assumed was Lang, said to Steve.
âOh, great.â Tony sighed before changing his attention. âAlright, thereâs two in the parking deck and one of them is Maximoff. Iâm gonna grab her. Rhodey, you wanna take Cap?â Your dad began his flight towards Wanda.
âGot two in the terminal, Wilson and Barnes.â Rhodey said.
âBarnes is mine!â TâChalla announced before sprinting to the terminal.
âY/N, Mr. Stark, what should I do?â Peter asked as Steve threw his shield at Rhodey.
âWhat we discussed. Keep your distance and web âem up.â Your dad replied quickly.
âOkay, copy that.â Peter said, swinging away. You hesitated in following him for a moment, just admiring the way he moved. He moved with the grace and intent of someone who had been doing this for years. He was nimble and agile, processing new information quickly and adjusting accordingly. He was like nothing you had ever seen before. The videos youâve seen did not do Peter and his abilities justice.
âMs. Stark?â F.R.I.D.A.Y.âs voice sounded in your helmet. âAre you going to join the fight or just watch?â
âRight, sorry.â You shook your head, quickly following after Peter.
Steve managed to keep TâChalla focused on him. Nat went after the guy who came off Steveâs shield. While Peter crawled over the windows, you went around and entered from behind. Barnes and Wilson ran in the direction of the Quinjet, you and Peter following behind them. Peter swung feet first through a window, knocking Barnes off his feet. You glided around the collision, and sent Sam tumbling along the ground away from those two. You turned to help Peter and saw Bucky take a swing at Peter, which Peter effortlessly caught.
âYou have a metal arm?â Peter exclaimed, causing a falter in the super solderâs demeanor. Peter was younger than expected. âThat is awesome, dude!â
Sam came hurtling through the air, ramming through you and headed towards Peter. He grabbed Peter, who struggled in his grip, and continued his flight.
âYou have the right to remain silent!â Peter yelled as he struggled.
âDumbass.â You sighed, shaking your head. You pushed yourself to your feet and went to help Peter. Just as you were leaving the ground, you felt your foot being grabbed. You spun to look down and you were thrown like a toy across the room. âSeriously?â You groaned as you got up. âF.R.I.D.A.Y., help me out.â
âSergeant James âBuckyâ Barnes. HYDRA enhanced super soldier, equipped with a titanium arm.â The A.I. informed you. âWould you like an analysis of his fighting style?â
âYes please.â You sighed, rushing the super soldier.
You ducked a punch from the titanium arm, hooking your own arm around it and used his momentum to flip him over your shoulder. Out the corner of your eye, you saw Sam drop Peter, who quickly recovered by shooting a web at Samâs foot and hitching a ride. That allowed you to keep your attention on your current fight.
âSo, youâre what all the fuss is about?â You commented, tilting your head in amusement. âQuite frankly, I donât see why.â
âLet me guess. Starkâs kid?â Barnes asked, gesturing to your suit.
âThe one and only.â
âLook, kid. I donât wanna hurt you, alright?â He sighed, taking a step back. âYou shouldnât even be involved in this.â
You chuckled in annoyance. âNext person who tells me what I should and shouldnât get involved in is going to get both arms broken⊠Well, if they have both arms.â
âLow blow.â He shook his head.
âShouldnât make it so easy.â
âSo whatâs your reason for hating me?â
âAll of this-â You gestured around you. â-is your fault. Youâre the cause of this giant rift between us. Steve is leading half of the Avengers to help you, and my dad is leading the other half to stop you. Donât you see the problem?â
âI didnât ask for this.â
âWell, that makes two of us.â
Without warning, you took a shot at Barnes. You swung your right fist which he ducked and tried to counter with his titanium arm. You spun left, kicking his back and knocking him on his face. He rolled and kicked out at your chest, sending you to your back. After you stood, you grabbed his metal arm and pulled him close enough to connect your opposite elbow to his jaw. He stumbled away from you and you used this chance to gain some high ground. Barnes yanked your feet out from under you, causing your head slam to the floor and blur your vision momentarily.
âEarly concussion symptoms recognized.â F.R.I.D.A.Y. announced. âEngaging sensory clarification systems.â
âYup, figured.â You groaned, using the blasters in your palm to send Barnes flying across the terminal. âWhat happened to that analysis?â
âSorry, there wasnât enough data to create a counter plan.â F.R.I.D.A.Y. informed you.
âThat wasnât enough?â You panted.
Upon standing, you saw your dad engaged with Wanda and Clint across the airport. You turned to find Peter who was handling himself just fine.
âBe right back, Spiderman. Keep your eyes up and donât be an idiot.â You said over the comm line. âOn my way to you, Pops.â
Upon reaching your dad, you saw cars being flung from the parking structure. Red swirls led the vehicles to your dad. He fought off as many as he could, dodging the rest of them. Wanda took it up a notch, throwing multiple at a time. You shot blasts at Wandaâs feet to knock her off balance and stop her before you moved quickly, trying to get your dad out of there but the cars took you both to the floor. The cars knocked the air out of you as you landed on your back.
âMultiple contusions detected.â F.R.I.D.A.Y. told you and your dad.
âYeah, I detected that too.â Your dad grumbled.
You shoved the car off yourself and managed to get your dad free. He looked around and saw Wanda and Clint had disappeared. You sighed, allowing your helmet to fall away for a moment. Your dad did the same.
âWell, Mom canât say we donât do enough things together.â You panted. âWe got crushed by cars together.â
âDo not tell your mother that!â He laughed. âHowâs the kid?â
âHolding his own when I left.â You nodded. âHow you holding up, old man?â
âOther than that? Which you were no help with, by the way.â He asked, gesturing to the mess of cars behind him. âHolding my own.â
âIf I hadnât gotten here, she wouldâve kept throwing cars at you, Plus, I got that car off of you but okay! Anyways, I should probably get back to him.â You nodded. âNeed any more help, give me a call.â
Your helmet covered your face as you sped back towards Peter. As you approached, entering through the same broken window Peter launched himself through earlier, you saw Peter in the rafters while Barnes was behind a post and Wilson was circling back.
âHey buddy, I think you lost this!â Peter said, throwing whatever Barnes threw at him right back.
Sam knocked Peter off his beam and nearly slammed him to the ground. Peter shot a web and used it to swing over Sam to shoot another at his wings, jamming the motor and sending him tumbling to the ground, but not before taking out a magazine kiosk.
âYou seem to be doing okay.â You said as you met up with him in the beams of the ceiling.
âY/N, hey!â He exclaimed. âHasnât been too bad.â He shrugged casually. âWhere did you go?â
âFalling cars.â You shrugged. âAlright, back to work.â
Peter nodded and swung to another beam before sticking one of Samâs hands to the railing. He slid down to hang out on an information post. You hung out next to him, keeping an eye out for Barnes who had mysteriously disappeared. Sam glared at you two while Peter began talking, again.
âThose wings carbon fiber?â He asked, his curiosity taking over.
âIs this stuff coming out of you?â Sam asked, genuinely concerned over Peterâs web fluid.
âIt would explain the rigidity-flexibility ratio, which gotta say, thatâs awesome.â
âI donât know if youâve been in a fight before, but thereâs usually not this much talking.â Sam complained.
âYeah, well, heâs new. Give him a break.â You interrupted, still watching for Barnes. âHeads up, Spidey.â
âAlright, sorry. My bad.â Peter nodded before swinging. You followed his lead, tackling Barnes through the glass and taking down Sam with him. You and Peter pulled up after the hit, allowing Sam and Barnes to collide with the floor below.
He launched a web at Sam that tied him up and one that stuck Buckyâs arm to the floor. He perched on the information post again and you stayed next to him, an arm on his shoulder and your mask fallen away. Peter looked at you quickly, and you shot him a proud smile.
âNot bad, Spiderman.â You said happily. âNot bad at all.â
âGuys, look. Iâd love to keep this up but Iâve only got one job here today and I gotta impress Mr. Stark. So, Iâm really sorry.â Peter explained. Just as he finished talking, a small flying robot caught his arm and yanked him out of the building, him hitting the poles nearby before dropping.
âYou couldnât have done that earlier?â Bucky complained.
âThat was rude.â You commented before headed to find Peter.
You saw your dad before Peter so you headed that way instead. Tony stood with Nat, who were standing in front of a truck that was spewing flames.
âWhereâs the kid?â Tony asked you as you pulled up.
âSam knocked him out the window. Not sure where he landed, but it looked like the flaming car was a bit more pressing of an issue.â You answered honestly.
âIs this part of your plan?â Nat asked angrily.
âNobody had planned a full out brawl, Nat.â You sighed. âWhat do we do now, Dad?â
âWell my plan was to go easy on them.â Tony admitted. âYou want to switch it up?â
You could see Steve and his team meeting up as they headed to the Quinjet. Whatever you were going to do, you had to do it now. Otherwise the next team sent after Cap isnât going to play so nice. Luckily, Vision got in front of the team and blocked their path, giving them a speech and giving you all time to catch up.
Your team made their way over, Nat catching a ride from Tony. You found Peter on your way over, and he shot a web to your ankle as his ride. TâChalla held on to Rhodey, dramatically tucking and rolling for his landing. Peter landed gently on his feet, you setting down next to him. Now, you were all face to face with Steve and his team.
âThis isnât gonna end well.â Nat commented as Steveâs team headed towards your group.
You sighed slightly, following your teamâs pace. Once Steveâs team picked up the pace, so did yours.
âTheyâre not stopping.â Peter announced, unsure of whether your team was going to.
âNeither are we.â Your dad said, determination soaked his words.
Both teams broke into a sprint, or into flight. Tony took on Steve. TâChalla challenged Barnes. Nat and Lang picked up where they left off. Peter jumped off items Wanda was throwing at him. Clint was shooting at anyone he could see before Nat took a shot at him. Peter was swinging through the scene when Steve launched his shield and cut Peterâs web. Hearing him grunt upon his landing, you headed his way.
âOh shit.â You mumbled before quickly going to Peterâs side.
âHey, Y/N.â Peter greeted. âI couldâve had this.â
âNot by yourself. I told you, we stick together.â You replied. âYou do trust me, donât you?â
Instead of answering, Peter simply nodded. You reached over slightly, tapping the back of his hand with your fingers. Even though you couldnât see his expression, Peter grinned wildly as a heat rose to his cheeks. He couldnât physically feel your touch other than the slight pressure of your hand hitting his. He didnât know if it was intentional or not, but he didnât care. You cleared your throat and nodded towards Steve, who looked at you two searching for an easy way around.
âThat thing does not obey the laws of physics at all.â Peter commented casually, catching Steveâs attention again.
âLook kid. Thereâs a lot going on here that you donât understand.â Steve tried to reason. âIâm sure Y/N can tell you that.â
âDonât worry about me, Cap.â You shook your head. âIâm not the fugitive.â
âMr. Stark said youâd say that.â Peter said.
You aimed a blast at Steveâs chest so heâd lift his shield. Peter aimed for Steveâs ankles, yanking hard to pull the captain to the ground. Peter shot at Steve from both hands, sliding Steve across the ground and Peter let himself give into the momentum. His foot collided with Steveâs face, sending him and the shield in separate directions. You took your shot at Steve after he hit a luggage trailer nearby. You connected a kick with his abdomen, adding a sharp upper cut that sent the captain to his knees. Peter rolled away from the collision, kneeling to laugh.
âHe also said to go for your legs.â Peter chuckled proudly.
âKeep him away from his shield!â You called, realizing Steve had locked eyes on the disk.
When Steve ran for it, Peter shot a web at his left hand. Then his right. Peter used all his strength to keep the captain back, but Steve eventually overpowered the kid and pulled him forward in an acrobatic move, sending Peter right at you. You were hit by Peter after Steve used him as a projectile and you both went rolling across the gravel.
You both jumped up quickly, Peter shooting a web that was blocked by the shield. Steve grabbed it and pulled Peter towards him to smack his face with the shield, knocking Peter on his back.
âHey, not the face!â You said loudly, punctuating each word with a quick blast from your palm.
âThis isnât your fight, Y/N.â Steve said when your attack paused. âYou can still back out, go home and wash your hands of this.â
âYou just made it my fight. Besides, I have investments to protect.â You commented with an eye roll. âWhy canât you just stand down?â
âI was going to ask you the same question.â
âYou want me to stand down? Youâre gonna have to put me down, Cap.â
Steve sighed in exhaustion. âYou are just like your dad.â
âAnd youâve been just like family to me for years, to all of us. And youâre going to let this escalate and for what? For Barnes?â
âHeâs my friend. You asked me earlier how many lives is Buck worth.â
âSo am I.â You gestured around yourself. âIs he worth all of this? Look around you! What about us?â
âNo one told Tony to bring you all out here.â
âThatâs the only thing you can say to me?â
You left the ground quickly, shooting both missiles from the top of your forearms at him. He knelt behind his shield, which gave you time to get behind him and fire your repulsors at him. The blasts connected, sending Steve rolling away and giving Peter plenty of time to get up and get ready.
âStark tell you anything else?â Steve asked when Peter climbed on top of a passenger bridge.
âThat youâre wrong, and you think youâre right⊠That makes you dangerous.â Peter replied before swinging around the bridge and aiming a kick. You held back your next attack, not wanting to hit Peter by mistake.
Steve countered with a kick of his own, sending Peter to collide with the support for the bridge.
âGuess he has a point.â Steve said quickly before knocking out the support with his shield, leaving Peter to hold the bridge up or let it crush him. âYou got heart, kid. Where you from?â
âQueens.â Peter replied, struggling to keep it up. You dropped to the ground quickly, running to help him as best you could. You lifted the heavy metal, letting out a struggling groan as Peter also lifted. His knees wobbled from trying to support the weight.
âBrooklyn.â Steve gestured to himself before running off.
âWhen I say so, you need to get out from under here.â You said between heavy breaths. âRun, swing, roll. I donât care. Just get out from under here.â
âWhat about you?â He asked between breaths.
âMs. Stark, this bridge is about ten times the weight of the cars that landed on your earlier.â F.R.I.D.A.Y. spoke. âRedirecting power to reinforce wrist and shoulder plates. Estimated hold time, 30 seconds.â
âDonât worry about me.â You shook your head. âReady?â
âNo, Iâm not- What about-â
â15 Seconds.â F.R.I.D.A.Y. announced.
âGo!â
Peter hesitated before rolling out from under the bridge. Your elbows buckled when you had to support the weight on your own. Just before your legs gave out, you were pulled from under the collapsing metal and fell to the ground on top of someone. Your helmet collapsed as you tried to catch your breath, now face to face on the ground with Peter⊠Well, on top of Peter.
âI told you to go.â You laughed slightly.
âWeâre looking out for each other today. Remember?â He shrugged with a chuckle.
âLetâs go find my dad.â You said, quickly pushing yourself up and hiding in your helmet before Peter could see the deep blush and wide grin you had adopted.
âHoly shit!â Peter exclaimed, looking at something over your shoulder.
You turned quickly to see Lang, the guy who was shrinking just a few minutes ago, now the size of a skyscraper. He had Rhodey by his ankle and was chuckling like a child.
âOkay, thatâs not good.â You shook your head quickly. âCome on!â
You and Peter were headed towards the massive Lang when Rhodey came flying past you.
âI got him!â Peter exclaimed, trying to stop Rhodey with a web.
âSpidey-â You tried to stop him, but Peter was already zipping away from you. âAnd there he goes.â You sighed. âGreat, now thereâs two morons in my life.â
To your surprise, Peter had found footing on the side of a truck and managed to stop Rhodeyâs opposing momentum. Rhodey turned himself around and caught up with you, charging back into battle with Peter dangling from his ankle.
âOkay, anybody on our side hiding any shocking and fantastic abilities theyâd like to disclose, Iâm open to suggestions.â Tony announced after nearly getting smacked with a jet engine.
You, Tony, and Rhodey circled Lang who was momentarily distracted by TâChalla. Rhodey and your dad shot around Langâs head while you aimed for his shoulders and arms. Peter caught on to Langâs arm, spinning around it before connecting a solid kick to the side of his face. This wasnât going to be an easy one to take down.
âWhatâs the plan, Dad?â You asked desperately. âThis guy is the size of a skyscraper and HE ALMOST HIT ME WITH A TRUCK!â You exclaimed after having to spin out of the way of a trailer being swung at you, narrowly able to cut it in half with your suitâs lasers.
âCâmon, donât throw trucks at my daughter!â Tony called out, equally as annoyed as you were.
âHey guys. You ever see that really old movie, Empire Strikes Back?â Peter asked over his comms, drawing a mildly disappointed sigh to fall from your lips.
âJesus, Tony. How old is this guy?â Rhodey asked in response.
âI donât know. I didnât carbon date him!â Your dad replied quickly. âHeâs on the young side.â
âYâknow that part-â Peter groaned. â-where theyâre on the snow planet with the walking thingies!?â
Peter grunted as he spun around Langâs legs, forcing his ankles closer and closer. You thought to what Peter was referencing, and realized he meant tripping up Lang. You took a nearby luggage cart and shoved it into the back of Langâs knees, seeing him buckle.
âMaybe the kids are on to something.â Tony said.
âHigh now, Dad! Go high!â You suggested as you watched Peter continue to wrap Langâs legs.
Tony and Rhodey came flying in, connecting a solid hit to Langâs face. You heard Peter exclaim happily as Lang began falling back. Peter, however, was still swinging.
âGet out of the way!â You called out, but Peter was too excited.
âThat was awesome!â He turned, now swinging backwards and colliding with Langâs swinging arm.
You and your dad rushed to meet with Peter. The kid had landed on a pile of boxes, but rolled and hit ten different things till he stopped. You heard Lang land on the wing of the plane he was headed towards but you kept your focus on finding Peter. The boyâs small frame was on its side when you found him, mask inching upwards, and it caused you to freeze. Your dad was the one who stepped to him, both of you letting your helmets collapsed.
âPlease be okay. Please be okay. Please be okay.â You whispered, staying a few steps behind your dad.
Tony rolled Peter over carefully. âKid, you alright?â He asked.
Peter turned quickly, instantly struggling in your dadâs careful grip. âHey!â He grunted, trying to free himself.
You let out a nervous laugh before joining your dad at Peterâs side.
âSame side.â Your dad said smoothly. âGuess who? Hi, itâs us.â
âOh.â Peter sighed in relief. âHey guys.â
âYeah.â Your dad nodded as it clicked for Peter.
âThat was scary.â
âYouâre done, all right?â
âWhat?â
âYou did a good job.â You said, placing a hand on his shoulder.
âNo, Iâm good. Iâm fine.â Peter tried to argue.
âStay down.â
âNo, itâs good. I gotta get him back.â Peter struggled.
âYouâre going home or Iâll call Aunt May!â Tony threatened.
âDude!â
âYouâre done.â You said gently. Peter tried to stand but wobbled on his feet. You reached up, taking his hand and gently trying to pull him back.
Peter stared down at you in shock. âYeah, okay. Iâm- Iâm done.â He nodded slowly before sinking back down. âAre you okay?â
âAbout as good as I planned to be.â You played it off. Now that you were sitting and the adrenaline was wearing off, you could feel every ache in your muscles. You could feel every throb of a new bruise, the sharp sting of a fracture. The faint buzzing in your ears and blurring edges of your vision from the concussion.
You and Peter watched the last few moments of the fight. Steve and Barnes managed to get the Quinjet out of the hangar. Tony and Rhodey followed, Sam hot on their tail. Vision attempted to shoot Sam down, but hit Rhodeyâs arc reactor instead. Rhodey went into free-fall and hit the ground before Tony could catch him. You wanted to rush over and try to help, but you could already tell there was nothing you couldâve done. Instead, you and Peter helped each other to meet up with the rest of your team.
âWhat do we do now?â You asked your dad gently.
âF.R.I.D.A.Y., call Happy. The kids are going home.â Your dad said. âYou take Peter home. I have to finish this.â
You dropped to your knees by your dadâs side, putting a hand on his shoulder. He turned his gaze to you and your heart ached. He was so visibly distraught. You quickly wrapped your arms tight around your dadâs shoulders, feeling him lean into your embrace. He hugged you back, even tighter than you had him. You contained your wince, feeling a sharp sensation shoot through your ribs.
âBe careful, Dad.â You said when you pulled away. âCome back to us in one piece. Promise?â
âI promise.â He smiled softly.
âI love you, forever.â You replied, holding your hand up.
âAnd ever.â He took your hand in his, moving your hands up and then down to solidify the promise. This was something you two had begun when you first joined the team, a way of ensuring that you would come home.
âCâmon, Spidey.â You managed to get back on your feet and headed towards where F.R.I.D.A.Y. told you Happy would pick you both up at. You wobbled on your feet, falling into Peter every so often. In an effort to help you, he put your arm over his shoulders and wrapped an arm around your waist. You remembered hearing him ask if that was okay, and you mumbled a yes as you made your way to the car.
Zerfall Masterlist || M a s t e r l i s t
On your last sick day you got the message that the west side of Brooklyn is safe for the most part. The bridge between the fully hazardous Staten Island and Brooklyn was being downed and you felt those explosions while sitting on the deck of the tower. Magnolia had worked towards the Bronx in the previous 4 days. The rest of New York City had caught up with the work of Bucky and you. You knew that the Randalls Island mission was close and knowing that, you got in a good workout at the end of the day and cleaned all your weapons.
Your first day was slow but productive. You walked to the settlement together, the street was cleared, the entrances to the side streets mostly closed down with cars and trucks, two guards on the ones that had openings.
Seeing the settlement from afar surprised you. More platforms, more people. more plants and more lights surrounding it.
You entered the library in awe. Better blankets, new pillows, a bigger stash of weapons and ammunition and on the roof there were tons of plants being planted.
âHey, Agent.â Captain Davis walked towards you with a happy face.
âNice little garden you have there, Davis.â You smiled up at him.
âThanks to you two.â He looked at both of you and you looked at Bucky that had a big proud smile on his face.
âThen letâs go through a good high-rise building. Get some more food and crafting material.â You smile at Richard.
âSounds great. Give us 30 minutes.â
âI got information that a group of Eagles plans to team up with Outcasts from Rikers Island to storm Randalls Island,â Magnolia confirmed your thought process in the daily evening conference call.
âThen we need to just ambush them. Magnolia, Bronx, Wanda, Bucky, Me, civilian militia groups. Câmon we can easily overpower them AND get the island. Just let us fight the Outcasts instead of the civilians doing that part. We just need to get them in Astoria Park.â You shrugged with a challenging smirk.
âYou need to make one of those giant plans then, Andromeda.â Magnolia smiled back through the hologram.
âYou in?â You looked at Agent Zeta and Agent Bee.
âLetâs fuck em up,â Zeta grumbled while flipping her knife.
âHell yeah. We have that, we'll have a new hub.â Bee answered.
âThe tower, the island, the settlements. Letâs make it a good one,â you said before getting out a board to plan on.
âMagnolia, Wanda and Bee come to Astoria Park and try to intercept them. Zeta comes from the top to the island and I come from the west. We will get the NYPD building from both sides before coming straight towards you if you still need our help after thatâs done,â you explained on your New York City map with different markers.
âSounds good. Letâs get into the details and what we know of the DTF there and the Eagles and Outcast situation,â Magnolia answered your explanation.
âThe DTF will have tons of weapons in that NYPD base. The Outcasts should only be fought with masks on since they might have the virus so you let the civilians fight the Eagles. They are pretty clear to differentiate. We should start before noon with this, 10am sounds best. How you coordinate your people is absolutely your thing, I trust you.â You put down the facts and ideas.
âBe in contact from 9am then,â Zeta said.
âSee and hear you all tomorrow. Get some good sleep.â
You said goodnight and went to bed immediately after the call.
The next day you got ready in your full SAID suit and equipment again. You packed 4 instead of the usual 3 weapons. You packed less food and more medication for the big fight. More grenades and more knives.
You helped Bucky put his hair back and gave him the scope attachment that functioned like your contact lenses.
âYouâll need it.â You looked at him serious.
âThanks, Meda.â He gave you a fond smile.
âLetâs go,â you said grabbing his shoulder and had his arm around your waist in seconds.
âAndromeda, you ready?â
âYeah. On my signal, Zeta,â you said to the ear piece.
You got closer to the building, scanning it, whispering, âThatâs a lot.â
âI go left, you go right. But first-â he whispered close to your ear getting out his marksman rifle.
âGoing in, Zeta,â you whispered.
You sneaked your way forward to the closest you could go without being seen or losing the surprise effect.
âTake out their backs,â you whispered into the comm device.
You saw two guards falling to the floor and two more on the upper level go down.
You threw two grenades at the entrance area, the second they blew up you went for your pistols and saw Bucky change to his AR.
You had the advantage of there being only two ways people could leave the house towards you. It was hard to fight these more trained people but that little flaw made it easier.
âZeta?â You yelled and saw a man in cover falling to the floor.
âA little help?â She asked into the comm.
You looked at Bucky and you stormed forward behind him shielding you from bullets.
âSurprise.â You smiled shooting a man into the shoulder and chest.
âGet Down!â Zeta yelled and you both threw yourself to the floor and saw the laser grenade cut through the room one meter above the floor.
âDamn, gotta get me one of those.â Bucky muttered looking up at the red rug over him.
âClear!â Zeta yelled again and the laser vanished and you stood up going through the rest of the room.
âClear!â Bucky yelled.
âClear!â You said and the bottom floor was done.
âMilitia can come in and occupied this damn house,â you grumbled into the communication device now.
âUm, we could need your help. Itâs a lot.â You heard from Magnolia immediately after.
You looked at each other in the hallway and nodded before running towards Astoria park.
Wandaâs magic was visible from further away and you knew that wasnât a good sign.
Your little team planted strategic explosions along the island to make nobody backstab you with the civilian militia perfectly coming in and helping you.
When you finally arrive in Astoria park you see the nastiest view in a good few days. The amount of Eagles and infected outcasts was intense. Even with tons of armed civilians, they were slowly starting to get overpowered.
Wanda threw tons into the water that was impossible to get out of with the high walls build left and right to protect the houses surrounding it. Magnolia was killing any Outcasts coming too close to the civilians while Bee defended her from further behind.
âGive âem hell.â You looked left and right getting out your AR.
Getting the surprise effect was definitely helping in getting the enemy numbers down.
You were getting rid of Outcast after Outcast and it started to look manageable again, but you werenât expecting a counter surprise attack.
There was a little drone flying over the park and dropping close to you. Bucky grabbed you and lunged for cover just in time.
âDrone Strike by Dark Task Force incoming,â EADA said.
You blew the hair out of your face, âYeah, that came a little too late.â
âThey probably notified their outside teams,â you mumbled up at the giant protecting you.
âAgent down!â Bee yelled and you somehow made your way out from under Bucky in seconds and making a line towards Magnolia laying on the ground, blood all over her.
âShit,â you muttered getting out all the medication you had.
âStay with us, will you?â Bee mumbled scanning her.
âNo vital organs hit.â The watch answered.
âGreat, get shit on her wounds.â You hurried the others.
Everyone that wasnât guarding you was getting wounds clear and covered them with pressure.
âAgent stable.â
You all collectively exhaled, âThank god.â
âGet her to the next safe zone,â you ordered and Wanda nodded with a serious and concerned face.
âAnd the rest, get the island secured. They might have reinforcements coming.â You turned around.
In 30 minutes you had killed anyone that was left and had everything cleared and hacked through.
After the island was secured on all bridges, especially the one to Brooklyn and Queens, you just sank into a couch in the NYPD building.
âDamn Dark Task Force.â A knife lands in the wall.
âHey, we already have half of New York back. Sheâll survive and weâll destroy the shadow zones in that time.â Bucky walked over to you.
âWonât EMPâs mess with your arm?â You looked up at him.
âMaybe with the calibration, but a few millimeters in knife fights wonât make a difference. Sniping wonât be a thing in those zones either. Your neat little friend probably locates that EMP before we even get in there.â He pointed at your watch.
âGuess youâre right. We also have Roosevelt Island now by the way. The other civilians went for that one.â You grinned.
âNice, only Lower Manhattan left.â He sat down next to you.
âIf we keep going like this we might actually need to help Steve and Nat in D.C.â A laugh escaped you.
âWe only need Magnolia to live and this is an easy win in the next 3 weeks,â he speculated.
âNice job, Barnes,â you said after a while smiling to him next to you.
âYou planned it, Andromeda.â He gave you a fond smile.
Shadow and Shade pt.3
Summary: Training has begun, bonds are being made, but you canât shake the feeling of knowing that theyâll be broken because things might not work out 100% like you want
Pairing: Bucky x Black!Goddess!Reader; Avengers x Black!Goddess!Reader
WC: 3.4k (Iâm sorry itâs so short)
Warnings: angst, little fluff and cuteness, mentions of death (Thanatos)
A/N: Iâve obviously seen IW! Multiple times actually, so I know how it goes. This story is my own twist on it so of course the series of events are going to be different! Please reblog and comment :)
~italicized and bold words are the quotes from the casting lists~
Another month of no sign of your son but it was a a month full of training. Everyone was getting in shape, friendships (as well as relationships) were being made and they were all getting used to each other. Your people were getting used to the way of the mundane while the team was getting used to the rambunctiousness of the other deities.Â
While the team sparred, your kids actually fought when they were put up against each other and that worried everyone else, so a few of your kids tried to keep it easy on them until you walked around with your staff.
âYour stance is sloppy. I have taught you better!,â you hit Hypnos in the back of his knee to make him bend it a little, âNow is not the time to be lazy, buck up!,â
He just nods and you move around the gym of the compound, seeing everyone training together. Mortals against mortals, deities against deities, mortals against deities. You had to get the ball rolling and whether they liked it or not, Thanatos was coming and you all had to prepare.
âSteve, get rid of that God forsaken shield. You really think something as small as that will hold up against the God of Death and his army? hell no!,â you shout at him from across the gym. The bearded man had just nodded and threw it to the side before Gaia went back to try and help him with his attacks..
Come to find out she had been having foggy visions as well and thatâs when you knew you had to take action.
You brought your family and warriors here to train at the compound. Some were out in the field training, some were in the gym, on the roof, anywhere that they could spar.
âAkhyls and Natasha, stop dancing around each other and get serious!,âÂ
âI donât want to hurt her,â Akhyls spoke.
âYour sister has endowed them with the proper power to withstand you guys and fight, so stop looking for excuses and do what you need to do! We donât have time to pussyfoot this!,â you waved your hands in the air and you started to get frustrated. Once everyone saw how you were reacting, they actually started to put in work to train.
âY/N,â You heard Bucky call from the other side of the gym, you turn to him and smile. He waves you over and you walk over to him, eyeing everyone else and their technique on your way over to him.
âBucky,â you mumble and look at him up and down at his training wear. He rubs his hands up and down your arms.
âYouâre tense and everyone is tired. Theyâve been working for hours straight. Give them a break,â
You lean your head back and frown at him, âWill Thanatos give them a break, James?,â you arch an eyebrow.
âYou are not him. Youâll run them into the dirt before we even get to the battle. Just a thirty minute break and youâll see how some rest does them good,âÂ
You ponder his words over and see everyone heavily panting and sweating profusely.Â
âCease!,â you call out to everyone and your people immediately stop but the mortals werenât up to par with your authority so Peter ended up punching Styx in the face, knocking her down, âI am soo sorry. What the hell did I just do?,â Peter starts freaking out and Styx just laughs at him.
âI am quite all right, Pete,â she stand back up and notices him blushing at her calling him his nickname.Â
You raise your hand and she stops talking to him, turning her attention to you, âYou all may take a break, but be ready to come back recharged when you hear my call,âÂ
Your warriors grunt a âHut!,â as a salute and they go to rest while the team rushes to grab water.
âYou realize while we may be Earthâs greatest defenders, that we donât have Godly stamina, correct?,â Sam comes up huffing and clutching his side, âI get it. You want us to kick his ass and stop him, and I thank Styx for endowing us with more strength but woman, I am TIRED,â he exasperated.
âMother just wants to make sure we survive,â Elpis comes up to him, âSit and rest, your side will feel better quite soon,âÂ
He smiles down at her and takes her advice. She takes his hand and leads him to a bench to cool down.
You feel Buckyâs hand wrap around yours and he tugs you into the hallway, âYou get some rest as well. Youâve been stressing yourself out,â
âBecause I know lives will be lost, bonds will be broken. It sucks that I canât see it clearly but the feeling is too strong to ignore,â
âââ-
Styx and Peter sat on the roof and stared up at the sky, just admiring the blue sky and its clouds up above.
âDo you think weâll win this?,â Peter asks nervously.
âIf mother and Gaia canât see what heâs planning then I canât even lie and give you an answer. Iâm gonna try my best to be optimistic and just say I know weâll put up a good fight no matter what,â she turns his head to look at him and she smiled reassuringly.
Peter takes comfort in her words and nods, âI hope we remain okay,â he whispers.
âI agree. I have never liked a mortal, youâre all pure messes, ungrateful and fragile. For thousands of years, you mortals have been throwing in everything as you come across the river- hopes, dreams, wishes that never came true. Irresponsible waste management, if you ask meâ she shrugs and turns to look at the New York skyline, âBut you have this aura and drive to you that a pessimist like me just canât seem to ignoreâ she can see him blushing but decides not to point it out.Â
âWhenever we get the chance... I-Iâd like to take you out on a date,â
âMother would kill you,âÂ
Peter instantly lost color in his face and Styx found it hilarious. She held her stomach, laughing at his face of fear as she played with him.
âI- Iâm kidding. O-oh my Gaia, Iâm kidding,â she wipes under her eyes as tears dripped from her laughing so hard, âMother thinks weâre stupid but she has something going on with one of your peer mortals so I doubt sheâd bat an eye,âÂ
Peter sighs in relief and holds his chest, âI guess Iâve got to get used to your humor,âÂ
She pats his shoulder and kisses his cheek, âYou think Iâm bad? You have another thing coming if you spend time with Momus, Moros and Akhyls,â
âFor you to be the Goddess of hope, you sure know how to beat a guyâs ass,â Sam mumbles as Elpis patches up small wounds on his arms and side that she made with one of her blades.
âI am the daughter of Night, Granddaughter of the dark void, sister of Death and Misery and Pain... Iâve learned some tricks here and there,â she smiles as she touches his wounds one by one to easily heal him, âAnd hope can be one helluva weapon,â
âI can tell!,â Sam laughs, âThat shit appeared out nowhere!,â he exclaims.
Elpis can easily summon weapons just by hoping and thatâs exactly what she did. You were pushing her to actually fight because you know she can, she was just holding back, you told her if she didnât get it together lives would be lost and she didnât want that on her conscience so she stepped up and took it seriously. She felt bad for injuring Sam but he understood. They all had to put up a good fight to beat this.Â
Thanatos would be the most serious adversary theyâll have to fight because it didnât just pertain to Earth, it pertains to everyone and thing in the universe, mortals and deities alike.
âYou look cute when youâre trying to cut my head off though,â Sam smirked and she just shook her head.
âYou sure have impeccable timing with the flirting, Mr. Wilson,â
Sam looks at her and nods, âIf something bad happens, might as well make a move while I can, yeah?,â
-------
Tony and Philotes were in his lab knocking stuff down as they heavily kissed each other, blindly moving around to find a sturdy place to continue their actions.
âYour mother isnât gonna kill me is she?,â Tony asks as Philotes kisses down his neck.
Theyâve had enough sexual tension building from the first meet up and decided if this was the end of the world then why the hell not? Tony would be fine with dying knowing he was able to get some from a fucking Goddess.
âThis is what I do, beloved. Sheâll be fine, now stop talking about my mother while weâre trying to fuck, thanks,â
âCopy that,â
She pulled his sweatpants down and dropped to her knees right in front of him. She hadnât even touched him yet but she was using her abilities to please him and Tony was ready to blow already from the unreal pleasure she was giving him just by simply waving her hand, but he didnât want to seem like a one-minute man in front of the Goddess so he held out as best as he could.
âSweet Mary and Joseph, Iâm going to heaven,â
---------
Keres had sat with Vision and Wanda simply conversing. The three had become close in such a short time span, which was weird for Keres because she didnât get close to anyone!
But she felt a pull to them and took a liking to them easily. They all were misunderstood and underappreciated, which she often felt so they all were able to relate to that on a personal level, and her being the Goddess of Violent Death she was of course sadistic but this was the life that was chosen for her, she didnât choose it herself. To be honest, she hated it, but this was who she was and it was written in the stars so itâs not like she could just change it. It was her destiny.Â
âCanât you see anything though? With you being one of the deities that have something to do with death?,â Wanda questions.
âAs Mother and Gaia have said, nothing can be seen. I usually cannot see anything until it is my calling for it to happen. Though sometimes I can see who it is, it is rare. As fitting as it seems that I will be fighting with you all in a battle, the cause is frightening because on the battle field is where Iâm at my strongest and Iâm not sure Iâm ready to fly over everyone and take lives with this one,â
Keres had talked with Thor before and they had discussed who she was as Goddess and how she is like the Greek version of the Valkyrie, just.. more morbid. Itâs an unsettling feeling that she has to do this because sheâs certain she wonât just be taking mortals with this one. Thatâs what scares her the most, she knows her and her siblings donât always have the best relationship. They can go centuries without talking to each other, holding a grudge for something as small as Philotes taking her clothes or Momus cracking a joke that pissed her off. But they were still her siblings in the end, always would be and sheâs not sure how to feel if her powers pick any of them to take away.
----------
âHonestly... Iâll be okay if Iâm one of the souls he claims,â Oizys tells Steve.
âDonât say that. He wonât be claiming any souls. Iâm sure you all have fought something way worse,â
âNot an omnicidal God, Steve,â she turns to look at him and she wears a small frown on her face, âYou have to understand, some battles are meant to be lost. You may have won all the ones youâve been in before but this is not like anything else. Youâre not fighting Ultron, youâre not fighting each other in some civil war like you have before, youâre not fighting extraterrestrial shapeshifters thanks to Loki. No. Youâre fighting the omnicidal God of Death, Thanatos, my dear brother. This has been his destiny far before he was even born,â she spat
Steve shivers at her words but heâs a stubborn fighter, he wonât let Thanatos get that far to try and carry out this so called âdestinyâ
âItâs fine to understand some are gonna die Steve,â
âNo one is dying, Oizys,â he runs a hand over his face, âNo one is losing lives, no one is claiming lives. Why are you so nonchalant about this? Itâs not just the humans heâs after apparently,â
Oizys walks towards the window to study the skyline of New York and closes her eyes, âBecause Steve, the truth is... I feel broken inside. Intoxicated with madness, in love with sadness. I hate causing others sadness but sometimes I get too deep into what Iâve done that I just donât go back to fix it. Iâm plagued with who I am and I curse mother sometimes for even bringing me into existence. So maybe, maybe this is my way out. Maybe Thanatos has a point. As living beings, we are too selfish, reckless and will run ourselves into extinction if someone doesnât do it for us,â
âHe doesnât have a point. Genocide, omnicide, however you want to put it, is not the answer here!,â Steve stared at the back of her head but she didnât turn around to look at him. She just shook her head and walked away.
Steve was left there with a pit in his stomach, the reality finally hitting him that this isnât like any other battle theyâve fought before. It was a bigger deal, a bigger cost.
-----------
Eleos sat with Bruce on a bench in the hallway and swung her feet back and forth.
âYou all are frightened and saddened. I can feel it. The stench is horrible,â she almost gags and Bruce apologizes.
âIt affects you that bad?,â He questioned.
âGoddess of compassion, pity and mercy youâre talking to,â she giggled at him, âWhenever someone is sad or bothered, I canât help but pity them and it makes me sad because I hate to see others hurting. I wish I could make you all feel better but only Elpis can do that,â she bows her head in shame and Bruce rubs her shoulder to feel better, but doing so awkwardly.
âWe will be fine. Itâs just, this has us on our toes is all,âÂ
The simple act of Bruce caring about her feelings and being nice has her smiling in no time. She loved acts of kindness, she was easily persuaded out of her sadness when someone was nice and empathetic.
âI-itâs not just you guys though. My family is scared as well and the only time Iâve seen them scared is when mother comes around the whoop our asses when we were bad ass little kids,â
Bruce laughs lightly at her words and his laughter is contagious so she canât help but laugh right along with him.
âThanks for sitting with me and talking. Many people donât like to talk with me because they say I act like such a hippie. Itâs just that I enjoy acts of kindness and being in tune with your own emotions, itâs rare in Tartarus,â
Bruce shrugs his shoulders and nods, âYeah it feels that way on Earth as well,â
âWell Bruce, you donât have to worry about there not being any kindness for much longer because here I am,â
He looks at her smile, awestruck, âYeah, yeah here you are,â
--------
âMomus, youâre such a fucking asshole!,â Geras ran after him around the gym and Momus is laughing his ass off while running away, âYou always make jokes at the wrong time! oh my Gaia, I canât stand you!,â his voice booms through the gym yet Hypnos stays asleep through the ruckus.
âOh chill out, geezer. Itâs just a joke. You always blow shit out of proportion,â
âEver thought that your jokes just arenât funny?,â
âGer, seriously! Chill out. Our psychopath brother is trying to commit universal omnicide so try and have some fucking fun while we can, yeah?,â Moros groans and rolls his eyes, âThere is nothing wrong with having fun in hard times. Appreciate what is around you and get your head out of your ass, for the love of Gaia,â
âIâm quite sick of you all just throwing my name around all willy-nilly today!,â
âSorry, Auntieâ they call back to her.
âAre they usually like this?,â Natasha leans over to ask Akhyls.
âMost dysfunctional family if youâve ever seen one. But still a family nonetheless,â she answers.
Natasha hums and nods her head as Ahkyls leans hers on Natashaâs shoulder, âWouldnât trade them for the universe. Hopefully we can stop my brother so that I wouldnât have to lose them. Theyâre horrible, narcissistic, but they have a good side, believe it or not. They know how to chill and be good brothers,â She explains.
Natasha watches as Hemera and Aether sit with the warriors, discussing fighting techniques and stances as well as what weapons could do the most damage for them. She tunes out the yelling of your sons as she realizes your daughter is resting her head on her shoulder, it was a comforting feeling but she knew it wouldnât last long. Both of them knew that, because time was dwindling down before you called them back to train again.
You and Bucky were discussing certain plans of attack when an orange portal appeared in the middle of the room.Â
âAre you Nyx?,â a man asks as he steps through the portal and into your room.
âDepends on what Harry Potter fanatic is asking,â you stand up straight and frown at the man.
âIâm Doctor Strange. Master of the Mystic Arts. It has been brought to my attention that your son is planning something way out of our league. I know what heâs after and possibly how to stop him,âÂ
---------
As Peter and Styx stand on the roof to go back inside, they hear screams far down below and see people running in the street, the hairs on his arm stand and he can feel a skip in his heartbeat. He looks around and sees a huge floating circle in the air coming their way.
âAny chance your brother is into spaceships?,âÂ
Styx raises her head and her eye widen, âThatâs not him.. thatâs his children.. P-Peter we gotta get inside!,â
--
As Tony and Philotes finish with a happy ending on both sides they see the windows dim without Tony or FRIDAYâs control and take a look outside to see the same floating circle.
Tony could hear Philotes audibly gasp.Â
âWe have to find mother,â She looks at him in fear, âThe Black Order is here,â
--
Keres takes Vision and Wandaâs hand as she pulls them as far away from the window as she can. She practically drags them to the gym and everyone gathers together in there when you finally burst in the room with Bucky by your side as well as Doctor Strange.
âSteve, take him somewhere safe!,â you point to Vision. Wanda and Keres stare at you in question, âThat thing in your head? Yeah thatâs just one of the variables in this whole equation,â your voice is stern and stone cold. You mean business. Thereâs no time for questions.
âGaia, the flashes of colors weâve been seeing,â you point to Doctor Strangeâs pendant and back to Visionâs head.
âThe Infinity Stones,â she whispers.Â
âSteve, take him, Keres, Wanda Natasha, Bruce, Gaia, Sam, Rhodey my boys and some of my warriors somewhere safe. A place that can guard that stone. Bucky and I will meet up with you all later,â
âWhatâs the significance?,â Steve questions.Â
âWe donât have time to explain right now, Steve!,â Bucky raises his voice.Â
Thor is missing to find help for this war, it was no longer just a battle and you could really use his help right now in this moment. Bruce and Eleos finally rush in the room and you run and grab her arm to stand by your side. You all now stood divided but with the same goal.
Protect those stones.
--------
Iâm so sorry if this isnât up to par! Iâm trying. I promise it will get better. I tried to add more about the children and the relationships they make because that plays a big part later down the road!
Lost way ch.9
A/N- I was inspired by the Last of us II teaser trailer in the first part!!
Warning- Language, Violence
-
I strum my guitar strings lightly. Tune it when I hear it out of tune. After my fingers gracefully start playing . I quietly sing along to the song that Iâm playing. I feel as the tears start to roll down my cheeks while Iâm playing. The sound of rain drops outside easily heard through the open hotel window. My eyes close feeling the moment. When I finish playing I open my eyes and wipe my tears. I rest my guitar on my lap I take a shaky deep breath.
â that was great.â I hear Steve softly say as heâs leaning by the door frame. I look up startled just a bit after hearing his voice.
â I didnât hear you come in.â I say as I lean the guitar by the bed. Once he sees my tears he comes to me and kneels down in front of me. He wipes the tears from my face.
â you were so into playing I didnât want you to stop.â He responds as he cups my cheeks. I lean in taking In his warmth. My tears kept rolling down. â you really want to go through with it?â He asks quietly.
â yes.... (I reach for my brothers cross chain thatâs around my neck.) I owe it them.â
-
I stand further away from the base keeping watch of any guards or soilders walking out the base. I sit down and zoom in my scope to take a closer look. I take a sip of my drink thatâs in my other hand.
â okay nobody guarding on the south side and nobody walking in or out the door.â I report to Natasha through my earpiece.
â Iâve got some on my side.â I hear Natasha say.
â okay do what you gotta do. Weâre not killing them remember.â Steve reports.
â yea we know just putting them to sleep and tying them up for them to arrested.â I say.
Steve had convinced me not kill the hydra agents but instead take them down quietly. Not letting ourselves be seen to remain hidden. I wanted so badly to kill them all but I was convinced not risk it or let myself go that path. I knew he was right. Itâs just hard for me.... itâs hard not to kill them especially knowing what they did to my family. And to other people. Killing innocents. Brainwashing. Controlling. Experimenting. among many other horrible things.
â okay theyâre down.â I hear Natasha say.
â same here.â Sam says.
â okay letâs move in.â I say. I put my drink back in backpack. And hop off the post I was keeping watch in. I crouch down and head for the door. I see Wanda approach on the other side. I give her a signal and we both open the door. Once the door is open I throw a couple smoke screens so we can unseen. We move up and hear people coughing and yelling orders. We keep walking by the walls and once we see the hydra soilders come to check whatâs happening we knock them out. When we cleared the hallway we go our separate ways trying to take them down faster. I get close to a opening and peek and see computers and scientist panicking and confused on what was happening. I put my mask on that covers the bottom half of my face only my eyes showing. I stand up and walk towards the opening. I make duplicates of myself blocking their paths. I then make them feel enough pain for them to go unconscious. I make my clones disappear and stick small sticky bombs on the computers. I walk a good distance away and cause all the computers to explode. After that I went back and tied all of them up so when they woke up they couldnât go nowhere.
â all clear on my floor.â
â here too.â
â yea me too.â
I hear all of them report. Once we do another sweep through on the place making sure thereâs nobody else we all go at our location where we agreed to meet up. Steve and I were the first ones there. I take my mask off and hood off. I smile at him before giving him kiss. A little while later we hear someone fake cough from behind me. That causes us to break apart. When I turn I see Sam, Wanda , and Natasha standing there.
â sorry to inturrpt the very intimate moment here but you know we do have to start heading out before they find us here.â Sam says. Steve Scratches the back of head a little embarrassed at the current situation. I could see that Natasha was amused because she was looking down at the ground with a smile trying not laugh at Steveâs reaction.
â yea...sure.â Steve said akwardly. I coudnt help my snicker at his very adorable akwardness.
â we did great guys just one more base to go and we can take it easy.â I say highfiving them. We all get the Quinjet that we Natasha had taken before having to leave the compound. After We then headed for the last location we needed to go to. I know that theyâll mostly likely come back but I just needed to do this. I just needed to take them down. Doing this makes sure that they wonât be coming back for a while. We also knew that they might move have more hidden bases but this just gave me satisfaction. Knowing that theyâll be taken down. And if we did it right they wouldnât know who or what hit them.
-
We were at the last base we needed to take down. This would be the last one and after that we would be done. We do our usually spotting. This one was a little harder because it was hidden inside a wooded hill. We had to be more stealthy. I was up on tree that was looking across from the hil they were in. There was no visible entrances from here except for two hidden windows. They were big enough for me go through them. Sam had finally found the entrance. It was well hidden far off from the base. It mostly likely connected through some tunnel. It was big enough for cars to go through so that meant that this was a big base. Him and Steve has found recent car tracks leading towards it. They exploded the door down and entered. It took them a while to report back but they did. I gave Natasha the signal. And we broke the windows. We then got our grabable hooks and used them to get through the windows. While I was sliding towards the broken window I threw a smoke screen to hide us.
When we landed with Wanda flying and landing by us. When we were inside and it was quiet. We didnât see or hear anybody. I stood up and caustiouly walked forward trying to get a better look. I looked at Natasha confused on the abandoned room. We knew that their was people in this base. We slowly moved foraward trying to look around through the smoke. As we were looking around I heard something land by my feet. I looked down and saw a grenade.
â GRENADE!â I yelled warning Natasha and Wanda. I immiedialtly threw it back where it came from using my telekinesis. It exploded midair. Seconds later gunshots started getting shot. I kicked down a table making it my shield.
â weâve been compromised here.â I try to tell Steve and Sam through my ear piece.
â we did too!â Steve responds back.
It was still hard to see because of the smoke but I still heard gunshots. I looked over at Natasha who had used a table as I shield too. She was shooting back.
â told you that you needed a gun.â She said smugly.
â yeah yeah whatever.â I say back occasisnly peaking over the table. Wanda cleared the smoke out making it easier for us to see.
â thanks for that.â I tell her.
Once I could finally see I threw a table towards the soilders that were shooting at us. That caused them to get knocked to the ground. But before we could get up more came from behind us. Wanda flings their guns away from them. I jump up and get closer to them. I then knock them out and we tie them up. We move up and tie the others up. After we slowly keeping an eye out for anymore of them. We go in to another room. And see more of them approach us. One comes towards me and tried shoot me but duck down grab his hand and hit him with his own gun. One tries to come up from behind me but I turn around and kick him making him stumble back. He regains balance and got his gun out. But I was quicker and caused him pain. Seconds later he hit the ground.
We keep moving on hearing shots coming from the other side of the base. We were running to go help Steve and Sam but we were blocked by more hydra soilders. Natasha, Wanda and I got back to back as they surrounded us. I flung one soilder causing him to crash to some behind him. After they were taken down we keep moving. Out of nowhere one appears from a hidden door and gets me. He has a gun pointed at the side of my head.
â try anything and Iâll shoot her!â He yells.
â donât.â I warn Natasha. Without moving my head I signal her that Steve and Sam are hiding over by the wall. Unexpectedly I kick the soilder in the crotch. He groans in pain so use that and grab his hand and flip him over. I glare at him and he started yelling in pain. He yelled louder as I made it worse.
â Maxine!â Steve yells I immidiatly look up towards him making me snap back to reality.
â sorry.â I mumble. I tie the now unconscious guy up. We didnât hear any other soilders come to us so we went and destroyed their computers. That contained their probably super important work. While doing that i went to the last table of computers and stuck the explosives under the table. I then felt burning pain in my shoulder. I turn around and see a soilder hidden behind some shelves. Wanda grabs him and throws him across the room. Steve runs to me worried.
â are you okay?!â He asks concerned.
â yea itâs nothing I think it went through I should be fine.â I tell him with a small smile so he could calm down. â letâs blow this up and start heading out.â I say.
After we explode all the computers and finally head back to the Quinjet. Weâre finally out and headed to some hotel far away from here so we wouldnât be spotted. Steve then comes to me and helps me with my wound. With my non injured arm I reach for my chain and look at it. My eyes get watery as Iâm looking at it. Remembering my family. I kiss it lightly and put it back.
â thank you guys.... for coming along with me and doing this.... I know this wasnât easy but Iâm grateful that you guys came along it means a lot to me that it really does.â I tell them all gratefully.
â no problem it was nothing. We all know this was important for you.â Natasha says from upfront as sheâs flying he Quinjet.
â yea plus what else could we do. Thereâs nothing else for us to do.â Sam says.
â you know I always got your back Max.â Wanda says.
â still thank you guys.â
-
Iâm laying bed looking up at the ceiling lost in my own thoughts.
â something in your mind?â Steve asks as he lays by me. I look at him as he snaps me from my thoughts.
â just thinking about this about everything. Itâs crazy how my life changed all in two years. Itâs just crazy to think about it all. Two years ago i was training to be a police and now Iâm a war criminal..... I was in such a dark place after my familyâs death so consumed my revenge I got tricked by the bad guys..... tried killing all of you because of it...... and now Iâm here an ex avenger on the run with my also war criminal boyfriend.â I tell him as I cuddle up next to him. I take a pause before talking again â I also want to say thank you... to you... for helping me with all of this... it really helped me. I was lost in my ways and you helped through it.â I finished saying.
â you know I would do it for you.... I- I love you.... Iâm in love with you.... I would do anything for you..... Iâm sorry that we have to be on the run. I know this isnât easy. â He says. I sit up and look at him with a huge smile on my face.
â I love you too Steve... being here with you makes me happy. I wouldnât want anything else. And I donât mind being on the run. You being here with me means everything.â I tell him. I then lean in and kiss him. He holds me and pulls me closer and
â Iâm in love with you too Steve.â I say before kissing him again.
I Wish I Could Hate You (Pietro x Reader) Part 17/?
Imagine being friends with the twins before they volunteered for the experiments and then being shocked when you join the Avengers and encounter them at the Hydra base in Sokovia.
This is an idea that hit me randomly honestly. Â I used an original character instead of reader though.
I Wish I Could Hate You
Part 17
Lilya sat five tables away from Wanda, who was stirring sugar into her tea as she tucked her hair behind her ear.
âAlright,â Steve said over their comlink, âwhat do you see?â
The question was meant for Wanda. Â This was her first mission, and Steve had incredibly high hopes for her.
âStandard beat cops,â Wanda replied easily. Â âSmall station.â Â She turned in her seat to watch two cops laughing together in front of the police station. âQuiet street. Â Itâs a good target.â
âThereâs an ATM on the south corner,â Steve began, âwhich means-â
âCameras,â Wanda finished for him. Â Lilya could almost feel Steveâs proud smile from where she was sitting. Â He was testing Wanda, and she was passing.
âBoth cross-streets are one way,â Steve began again, âSo-â
âCompromised escape routes.â Wanda was looking down at the table, and Lilya would tell the wheels in her head were turning.
âWhich means our guy doesnât care about being seen. Â He isnât afraid to make a mess on the way out.â
Lilya was watching the street in front of the station. Â Though to most it was a normal day, the illusion of peace was making her antsy.
It was too quiet.
Her eye drifted towards a red Range Rover that had parked a few moments before. It was bulletproof.
Steveâs voice beat her to the punch, âYou see that Range Rover halfway up the block?â
âThe red one?â Wanda asked, taking a sip of her tea. âItâs cute.â
âItâs also bulletproof,â Nat interjected and Lilyaâs eyes moved to where she was sitting, two tables behind Wanda. Â âWhich means private security, which means more guns, which means more headaches for somebody.â Â She paused to take a sip of her drink. Â âProbably us.â
âYou guys know I can move things with my mind, right?â Wanda asked, her eyes drifting to Lilyaâs, a small smirk on her face.
Lilya saw Nat smile slightly, which she quickly turned into a grimace.
âLooking over your shoulder needs to become second nature,â Nat said as she stared at the back of Wandaâs head.
âHey Nat,â Sam said suddenly, âanybody ever tell you youâre a little paranoid?â
Lilya chuckled, stifling it in her coffee as she continued to watch the Range Rover.
âNot to my face,â Nat replied. Â âWhy? Â You hear something?â
âEyes on target, folks,â Steve said, his voice all business, effectively ending their chat. Â âThis is the best lead weâve had on Rumlow in six months, I wonât want to lose him.â
Sam scoffed loudly, âIf he sees us coming that wonât be a problem. Â He kinda hates us, remember?â
âDidnât you turn his face into a barbeque last time you saw him?â Lilya asked quietly. Â âHe was in the building when it blew up, wasnât he?â
âYeah, Sparky,â Sam answered. Â âThatâs why he hates us.â
âMakes sense,â she replied, shrugging. Â âI would be a little bitter if someone dropped a building on me, too.â
âSam,â Steve said suddenly. Â âSee that garbage truck? Â Tag it. Â Sparky, you sense it? Â I want you to track it too.â
Lilya reached out mentally, searching until she found it.
âItâs two miles from me, Steve,â she whispered. Â âThe only way I can track it any further is if I Jump to it. Â I canât do that right now.â
âThe truck is loaded for max weight,â Sam said, âand the driverâs armed.â
âItâs a battering ram,â Nat said.
âGo now,â Steve said urgently.
âWait, why?â Wanda asked as Lilya stood.
They had been focusing on the wrong target.
âBecause heâs not hitting the police,â Steve answered quickly. Â âSparky, cut âem off!â
Lilya Jumped to the truck, watching as the driver leapt out as it charged towards the entrance of the Institute for Infectious Diseases.
âRahat,â she muttered as she Jumped again, throwing a wall up in front of the truck. Â There was too much momentum behind the truck, and her wall shattered on impact, as the truck slammed into the concrete barriers and screeching to a halt. Â âI couldnât stop them,â she yelled, Jumping so she was between the crashed truck and the building. Â âIâll keep them occupied until you get here.â
Two more trucks pulled into the lot, the backs opening to reveal armed men, dressed in full body armor. Â Lilya threw another wall up in front of her as they opened fire, and she pushed it forward until two men were knocked backwards.
In the distance she saw a man, larger than any of the others climb out of the back of the second truck. Â She let out another breath, Rumlow.
In her distraction, they shot teargas into the building and she spat out another curse in Sokovian. Â âThey have full body armor,â she grit out. Â âSemi-automatic rifles, sounds like AR-15s.â Â She threw a charged knife into the neck of one of the men, and he dropped to the ground as he let out a cry of pain. Â âI count nine still outside. Â Six went inside, not including Rumlow.â Â Pulling her hands together, she created a panel of energy, pushing it towards another, âMake that eight outside.â
Steve landed with a roll, jumping onto one of the vehicles and using his shield to send one flying into the nearest wall. Â The sound of the manâs spine cracking was sickeningly audible.
âSeven,â Steve breathed out.
âI make five,â Sam replied as Wanda landed behind Lilya.
Wanda grabbed one of the men, throwing him up in the air, âSam!â Â He flew down, slamming into the man midair.
âFour,â Sam said as he landed and walked towards Lilya. Â âYou good, Sparky?â
âNever better,â she replied easily.
âRumlowâs on the third floor,â Sam said as Steve walked up to them.
âWanda,â he said, motioning her forward. Â âJust like we practiced.â
âWhat about the gas?â she asked as she flexed her hands.
âGet it out,â he replied as he jumped, Wanda catching him easily and lifting him up to the third floor.
Lilya turned away, focusing on the remaining four men. Â They opened fire, taking cover behind their vehicles, and Lilya Jumped so she was behind one, grabbing his neck as she threw a knife into the otherâs leg. Â She drained the one she was holding, and sent a bolt of energy into the other, causing him to drop to the ground convulsing as Lilya flexed her hand. Â Clenching her hand to a fist, the man stopped moving as the electricity sputtered out and his breathing stopped.
Just as she was about to Jump to the others, a missile landed behind them, killing them both instantly.
âRumlow has a biological weapon,â Steveâs voice came over the coms. Â Lilya turned around as Nat replied quickly.
âIâm on it.â
After a few moments, Steveâs labored breathing came through and he groaned.
âSam, heâs in an AFV heading north.â Steve groaned again. Â âSparky, you copy that too?â
âI copy,â she answered. Â âSam, tell me where.â
âI gotcha, Sparky,â Sam replied. Â âHone in on me.â He paused. âIâve got four. Â Theyâre splitting up.â
Lilya Jumped to Samâs location as Nat spoke, âIâve got the two on the left.â
âThey ditched their gear.â Steve said. Â âItâs a shell game now. Â One of them has the payload-â
Lilya turned at the sound of Steveâs voice, just in time to see him throw his shield in the air as the grenade went off.
âSparky,â Steve yelled as Rumlow appeared behind him. Â âGo help the others, Iâve got this!â
âBehind you!â she screamed.
âGo!â
Lilya Jumped to Nat, landing a few feet behind her as she chased after the men.
âHe doesnât have it!â Sam exclaimed. âIâm empty!â
âLooks like I chose well,â Lilya muttered as she took off after Nat. Â She came through to the opening to see Nat standing off with the two men, one of them holding a vile.
âDrop it,â he said, staring at Nat. Â âOr I drop this.â
Lilya Jumped behind him, grabbing his arm and twisting as Nat shot the other. Â The man dropped the vile and Nat lunged forward, catching it just before it hit the ground.
âGood job Sparky,â she breathed. Â âGood job. Â Payload secure.â
âI sense sarcasm,â Lilya muttered as she pulled Nat to her feet. Â âI should have caught that, sorry.â
âHe knew you, you know,â Rumlowâs voice cut through. Â âYour boy, your pal, your Bucky,â
Lilya cut the rest out, Jumping to Steveâs location just in time to see him press a button. Â Wanda caught the blast, containing it as she sent it skyward.
It broke free of her hold as it flew, exploding into the building next to it, causing the windows to shatter at the impact.
âSam,â Steve said as Lilya rushed forward, catching Wanda as she sank to her knees. Â âWe need fire and rescue on the south side of the building! Â We gotta get up there.â
âIâm going!â Lilya shouted, after ensuring Wanda was alright. Physically at least. âIâm going in.â
âSparky,â Steve yelled after her, âWait, take me-!â
Lilya had already Jumped into the building, cutting Steve off before he could finish. Â Steve sighed out.
â-with you. Â Guess Iâll take the stairs.â
Lilya rolled her eyes, checking her surroundings as she searched for any survivors.
Part 18
Oh my... Itâs been forever guys, and for that I am so sorry.
BUT I hope maybe this will make up for it? Weâve finally reached Civil War!! What side do you think Lilya is on??? Who will Lilya side with?? Tony whoâs like her father, or Steve whom she deeply respects and loves like a brother???
Thanks for all the sweet messages since the last part, theyâve really meant a lot.
Iâm going to start working on some New Years fics now, though I probably wonât post them before New Years...
 Master List  |  Bucky Barnes Master List
 Previous Chapter
Pairing: Bucky X OCÂ | Word Count: 8k+
Warnings: Swearing, super fluff, violence, Russian that may or may not be correct.
A year had passed, nearly to the day since Bucky had bodily dragged Francessca to his room. Theyâd had their share of ups and downs since, arguments and makeups, pain and joy, but today was a day which would be filled with nothing but happiness. Today, after two years of teamwork and a year of being stupidly in love, Bucky was doing something heâd never imagined would ever happen.
He was getting married.
Married to his Franki. To the woman who was his perfect match, and, sappy as it sounded, his soulmate. He loved her so much it was impossible not to smile just thinking about her.
Throughout the last year, with Helenâs help, theyâd figured out how to offset a lot of what Hydra had done. They could be apart for longer periods of time. Up to a month, thanks to the bracelets the Doc, Bruce, and Tony had perfected. The slow release of the chemical cocktails, the ones he and Franki produced naturally, kept them both from melting down when apart, as well as allowing Franki to easily accept the touch of others.
She would still rather people just not have contact with her, besides their close friends of course, but she didn't leap out of her skin with the slightest brush as she once would have.
And while Hydra still chased them both, as far as any of them knew, the agency was as of yet unaware of the success of their experiment. Which was good, great in fact, for had they come for Francessca again, Bucky knew heâd go full Winter Soldier on their ass.
But, today was not the time for such thoughts. Today, as he waited with Steve and Clint in a room off to the side of where the ceremony was being held, he ran his hand over his suit jacket nervously.
âYou look fine, pal,â Steve clapped him on the shoulder.
âYeah, man. And your bride⊠wow!â Clint smirked, teasing the big man.
It had surprised a few people when Bucky had asked Clint to stand up as a groomsman, but Clint had only grinned and said yes. Few knew he and the archer had shared many a late night drink as Clint had a hard time sleeping away from his family.
When Bucky was first back from Wakanda, the nightmares had been keeping him up. Always one to believe in seeing the best in people, offering a second chance when it was warranted, Clint had taken to talking to Bucky, offering an ear when it was needed, and advice or council when it was requested. They were friends. Not Bucky and Cap close, but close enough.
âIâm just a littleâŠâ Bucky trailed off, voice growing thick with emotion. âI never thought this could happen for me.â
âYou deserve it, Buck. Really.â Steve pulled him into a back-slapping hug.
âHey, hey! You two crush those boutonnieres, Laura and Tam will have your butts,â Clint warned, tugging them apart, eyeing both suits before fixing the petals on Steveâs rose.
Clintâs wife and Tam, the wife of Jack whoâd taken Franki home with him after sheâd gotten the news about her program, had become fast friends. They had been more than happy to assist Francessca in the wedding plans. Considering Franki knew nothing about what to do or what was needed, and Nat and Wanda were often busy with missions, the two civilians had taken the title of wedding planner to heart, keeping notes and lists and making sure Franki was pleased with the decisions. His little shadow had been glowing she was so happy with how everything had turned out. Bucky quite literally didnât care as long as she was happy.
The one thing none of the women had missed out on, Tony too had insisted on going, was the search for the wedding dress. The women had taken over some boutique called Kleinfelds, a place with its own reality television show. From what heâd been told it had been incredibly special.
Tony, being his usual debonair playboy, billionaire self, had arranged the whole day, making Franki the center of it all. When sheâd chosen what she said was the perfect dress, Tony had insisted on paying. After all, he was going to give the bride away. As he was playing paternal stand-in, he may as well go all out. It had made Franki cry, but they were happy tears.
The wedding location was another surprise of Tonyâs. The mansion, fondly known now as House Avenger, was located not far from the tower and had once been the home of the Stark family. Tony had recommended he and Franki might like to relocate to give them more privacy shortly after theyâd gotten together.
Seeing as how the rest of the team were tired of either hearing them or, in a few unfortunate cases, seeing things theyâd rather not, it had seemed a sound plan. Considering the mansion was enormous, surrounded by top of the line security, and had a garden of its own, it was not a hardship to make the move.
He remembered the day a few months after theyâd changed homes when heâd gone with Steve, nervous as hell, and picked out a ring. Theyâd gone in secret, something challenging to do when the entire city knew who they were, to the boutique of a jeweller called Cartier. The man had been over the moon happy to assist and keep it quiet until after Bucky could do the asking.
It took another two months before heâd worked up the courage, finally getting it done.
When the night came, he'd walked Franki through Central Park as they were want to do, taking her back to the swings from their first date. Sheâd laughed, teasing, saying he was going to get her in trouble again, but, when he seated her on the swing as he had the first time, heâd knelt to a knee before her. There, heâd spilled his guts and his heart, had pulled out a red velvet box, a match for her favourite coat, from his pocket and flipped the lid. Nervous as hell, heâd asked her softly if sheâd marry him.
The tears had poured from her eyes, but sheâd nodded with enthusiasm, laughing, squealing out an enthusiastic yes!
âEarth to Bucky?â Steve chuckled.
âHuh?â Bucky snapped back to the present.
âSomeone here to see you.â Steve nodded his head towards the door.
Turning around, Bucky grinned for standing there, hand and hand with Jack OâShea, was little Jimmy. âHey, buddy! You ready?â Crouching down, he held out his arms.
The boy had stolen Frankiâs heart. Upon meeting him, heâd taken Buckyâs too. The whole team loved the exceptional little boy. Tony had even created Jimmy his very own winter soldier inspired arm. It wasnât going to stop bullets, but it was a fully functional prosthetic. With how close theyâd grown, Jack coming on at the Tower to work in security, Tam joining him, and Jimmy getting into one of the better schools thanks again to a Stark recommendation, it hadnât surprised him in the least when Franki had asked to include the family in the wedding. Tam had helped with preparations. Jimmy was going to be the ring bearer, but instead of a pillow - something far too girly, so he said - there was a miniature of Steveâs shield gripped in his metal fist, magnetized to hold the rings in place.
Bounding over, Jimmy threw his arms around Buckyâs neck. âBucky! Iâm ready.â
âGood. Me too,â he said, getting up with the boy in his arms.
âYou clean up pretty good there, Barnes.â Jack grinned. In his opposite hand, he held four precariously clutched glasses. A bottle of Irish whiskey was tucked beneath his arm. âItâs an OâShea family tradition to toast the bride. Thought you gentlemen might be inclined to join me?â
âDaddy says I have to be at least ten before I can do the toast,â Jimmy pouted.
Bucky, Clint, and Steve all chuckled.
âOh, yes. Ten. Definitely.â Bucky agreed seriously with the boy. âOtherwise youâll stay a little squirt. Wouldnât want to stunt your growth.â
Considering how big Bucky was, Jimmy really didnât want that. âIâll wait.â
Jack handed out the glasses before pulling the cork from the bottle. âMy grandfather used to say only the best would do when toasting a bride, so, Redbreast twenty-one.â He poured a few fingers into each glass, corked the bottle, and set it on a table. Accepting the glass from Clint, he held it up with the others. âTo the bride. A woman of grace, courage, and a fortitude the likes of which I have rarely seen. Letâs drink to love which is nothing unless itâs divided by two.â
Before any of them could drink, Clint held up his hand. âI know you two fellows canât get drunk, but I can and so can he, and if either of us does our wives will kill us. So, I will offer my toast as well before we down three fingers of whiskey, and have to pour another round. Weâre doing this in one.â
Chuckling, Steve said, âThen all I have to say is, may your love be as endless as your wedding rings, Buck.â He clicked his glass to Buckyâs, grinning at Clint who was scowling at him. âWhat?â
âJust had to sneak yours in first, didnât you, Cap?â Rolling his eyes, Clint turned his attention back to Bucky. âBucky, if there is one thing Iâve learned after being married all these years itâs this. No matter the argument, your wife is always right.â They chuckled as a group, but he shook his head. âItâs not a joke. There is nothing, and I mean nothing, which will ever matter to you more than she does. So, if you two are butting heads, just ask yourself, would I rather win the argument or have a happy wife? Simple as that. To the bride!â Lifting his glass, he tapped it against Barnesâ and threw back the whiskey.
The otherâs followed suit, each wheezing slightly with the burn.
âWowâŠâ Bucky gasped. âThatâs good stuff.â
âDamn,â Clint breathed out, smirking at Jack. âYou and I need to hang out more often.â
The door banged open. They all looked to the blond behemoth standing in the opening.
âGentlemen! You toast without, Thor?â He stalked through the room with a wide, mischievous grin. Clapping a hand down on Jackâs shoulder, he didnât notice when the man flinched beneath the force. âIt is good, then, I come bearing a gift for the bridegroom!â
His voice boomed through the room, making Bucky laugh. âGlad you could make it.â
âJane and I would not miss such an auspicious occasion! Thee are family, son of Barnes!â Thor plucked Jimmy from his arms, tossing him straight up to the boyâs delighted squeal. âAnd you, young Jimmy? How fares the new arm?â
Bucky smirked at Jack, sure the manâs heart had only stopped the once, instead of the dozen times it had the first time the god of thunder had done that.
âHeâs doing just great,â Jack said.
âExcellent!â Handing the boy off to his father with a gentle ruffle of his hair, Thor, dressed in the Asgardian equivalent of formal wear, drew a flask from within his cloak. âThe finest of Friggaâs wines, not for mortals,â he looked pointedly at Clint and Jack as he poured two half glasses. âApologies.â
âNot to worry.â Clint had no desire to have his eyes explode or his stomach rot or whatever other calamities would happen if he did. âIâm going to go see if theyâre ready for us.â Grinning, he and Jack, and small Jimmy headed out the door.
âMy friends! We drink! To the fair Francessca! May she forever be the warrior she is today, and may she give you a hundred sons!â Thor boomed, throwing back the flask and drinking deeply.
Steve and Bucky exchanged looks, sipped the wine so as not to be rude, but before Thor finished, they each upended their glass in one of the potted plants nearest them.
âTell Frigga we are most thankful for her gift,â Bucky said with only a small smirk. Heâd had Asgardian liquor before. Heâd really like to remember his wedding.
Smoothing her hands down the front of her dress, Franki glanced at the mirror for what felt like the hundredth time. The silk dress fit her like a glove, accented her breasts, flared at her knees and delved deep at her back. Crystals winked in the skirt and train, more glimmered in the cascading fall of curls her veil was tucked into and shone on the ring finger of her left hand where her engagement ring waited to be joined by a wedding band.
âSestra, you are gorgeous! Stop fretting,â Natasha scolded, wandering over to fuss with Frankiâs veil.
âYes, you will knock Buckyâs socks right off with how wonderful you look,â Wanda agreed.
âSorry, Iâm just so⊠nervous,â Franki sighed.
âThen have a drink, precious,â Tony offered, coming over with two fingers of scotch, handing her the glass. âCalm yourself.â
âThanks, Tony.â Franki smiled, taking a deep breath. âI just want everything to go right.â
âIt will,â Nat assured her.
Clint arrived in the doorway, little Jimmy on his hip, snickering softly. âI see we're not the only ones abiding in a little liquid courage.â
âWhat?â Frankie gasped. âHeâs drinking to get down the aisle!â
Seeing the waterworks wanting to start, Clint rushed forwards. âNo! No, no. Jack had us do the traditional toast to the bride. A little whiskey was all. Heâs fine, darling. Excited and ready.â
âOh.â Breathing out a sigh, Franki nodded. âGood.â
âThorâs in with him and Steve.â
âYou left them alone with him!?â she yelped. âHeâll have Asgardian liquor!â
âBucky isnât going to do anything to muck up your special day, precious.â Tony took her by the hand and gave it a gentle pat.
âOkay, okay. You are right, kotenok.â Nodding Franki took a deep breath.
âFive minutes ladies!â Tam called out as she zipped past the door. âClint! Youâre in the wrong room. Letâs move it!â
âSee you up there, vorobey.â Franki set her glass on the table, reached out and kissed his cheek.
âOh! I almost forgot. He would have kicked my ass.â Grinning, Clint dug in his pocket. âSomething old, for the bride.â
âI thought that was Barnes?â Nat snickered.
âHaha. Laugh it up, sestra.â Franki glowered at her while taking the box from Clint. Pulling on the bow, she tugged the lid off, lifted out the soft cloth within, revealing a beautiful cameo brooch. âOh! Itâs lovely.â
âBuck found it in an antique shop. It was just like one his mom had.â
Franki looked up to see Steve standing in the doorway. âReally?â
Steveâs eyes were teary as he nodded. âCan I have a minute alone?â
âOnly one,â Laura called out as she zoomed past the door. âBarton! Move that ass!â
âYes, maâam!â Squeezing Frankiâs wrist, Clint slipped out past Steve.
âIâll be back for you, so donât get any funny ideas about running off with blondie there,â Tony joked, thumping Steve on the shoulder as he sauntered out.
âYeah. No runaway bride or Iâll hunt you down,â Nat warned with a grin.
Wanda only waved and shook her head, shutting the door behind her.
âWow. Franki, youâre going to give the old guy a heart attack,â Steve said, striding toward her.
âI hope not. I would like to be a wife for a very long time.â Picking up her bouquet, a small one of red calla lilies, she worked at pinning the brooch to the ribbons.
Seeing her struggle, Steve held the bouquet so she could use both hands. Hey, Franki?â
âYes, belyy rystarâ?â she said, looking up into his bright blue eyes. They were like Bucky's only more sky blue than the sapphire of her manâs.
Cupping her hands, Steve bent to kiss her cheek. âThank you.â
Shocked she gaped at him for a second. âFor what?â
âFor being you. For loving Bucky. For giving him the life he thought he'd never have.â
âIt swings both ways, Steve. Heâs done the same for me.â Sheâd never imagined sheâd have a life outside a cage, let alone a man who loved her and wanted to spend his life with her. âIt is good, da?â
âHeâs⊠so happy. I never thought Iâd see pre-soldier Bucky again. Youâve given him back to me.â
Her watering eyes had Franki reaching for a tissue. âTheyâll kill me if I ruin my makeup.â
Taking it from her, Steve fixed the little run of her mascara. âThere. Good as new.â
âI love him so much.â
âAnd he loves you.â Leaning down, he wrapped her up in a tight hug.
Franki smiled as she hugged him back. It was so nice to not want to crawl out of her skin. âHey⊠Steve?â Turning her mouth to his ear, Franki whispered in it softly just as the door opened.
âMinutes up, Cap. Theyâre calling for you.â Tony frowned at the weird, excited puppy look on Steveâs face. âYo, Capsicle! Thereâs a spot with your name on it beside Barnes which is empty.â
âYeah. Yeah. Okay.â He nodded, hugged Franki a second time, and jogged out of the room.
âWhat was that all about, precious?â Tony asked. âYou keeping secrets from your daddy?â
âDo not ever say that again.â Frankiâs face twisted in revulsion. âIt is not too late to replace you.â
âNuh ugh!â He shook his head. âI paid for your dress, so the least you can do is let me walk you down the aisle, so I get to see Barnesâ jaw drop when he sees you in it.â
âFine. But donât ever refer to yourself as daddy again.â
âWhatever you say, snookums.â She glared, and he grinned. âSweetums? Pooky? Moonpie? Sugar? Fine, Iâll stick to precious.â
She couldnât quite control the urge to laugh, her lip twitching. âTony?â
âYeah, doll?â He grinned, knowing heâd amused her.
Leaning in, she kissed his cheek. âI love you. Thanks for everything.â
His eyes watered as he pulled her into a tight hug. âDaddy loves you too, precious.â
âTony!â
He only laughed.
The want to fidget was upon Bucky when Steve jogged up beside him. âWell?"
âShe looks great, pal,â Steve assured him. âDrop-dead gorgeous.â
âSheâs always gorgeous, but that doesnât explain why you look like youâre going to cry.â Bucky frowned at him.
âItâs a wedding. People cry.â
Clint snorted. âYou cry at everything.â
It was true. Steve had been known to blubber at Disney movies, so this shouldnât have surprised Bucky.
Looking out over the gathered crowd, he nodded to those who smiled or waved. There were far more people in attendance than he would have liked. But, as an Avenger, their wedding had taken on a social aspect which couldnât quite be ignored. Or so Tony had told them.
Heâd been concerned at first. This would have been a prime opportunity for Hydra to pull some shit, but the security was so high heâd almost had an issue getting in, and it was his wedding. Plus, there was a host of superheroes in attendance, more Shield agents than he could count, as well as a bunch of Asgardians whoâd come with Thor. If Hydra was stupid enough to try something tonight, they were going to have their asses handed to them.
As for the rest, he didnât know, or really even care who they were. Theyâd come to see and be seen. As long as they didnât cause trouble, they could stay. Theyâd all be contributing to the charities he and Franki had picked out, so the more, the merrier in that aspect.
It wasnât as if either of them needed wedding gifts. Everything they required was already stocked within House Avenger, standing tall and stately behind the gathered guests. Instead, theyâd chosen to have people make donations to charities which were essential to them. Like prosthetic research for kids, something close to both their hearts.
The music changed, a hush came over the crowd. Everyone stood to their feet.
Taking a deep breath, Bucky breathed it slowly out as first Wanda, then Nat made their way down the aisle. Both looked great in simple red gowns which swept the ground as they walked. They smiled at him, Natâs eyes a little damp, as they took their places. Next came Jimmy, his eyes big, a look of fear on his face. He froze about halfway down the aisle.
Bucky was quick off the mark, down towards the boy who he lifted up, tucked in his vibranium arm, and carried back to the altar with him. A chorus of aweâs followed which he ignored.
âYou good, buddy?â he asked Jimmy.
âThatâs a lot of people,â the boy whispered, hugging his neck, his makeshift shield dangling.
âI know, bud. You did great.â He patted the boyâs back.
Arriving back at the front, Steve held out his arms, but Bucky shook his head. âNah, heâs fine.â Again Steveâs eyes watered, making him frown. âWhat the fuc-dge is wrong with you?â
âNothing.â Steve cleared his throat, straightening his spine.
âSure, sure,â Bucky grumbled, turning to face the aisle again. Heâd figure out what the fuck was up with his best friend later.
Right now, his eyes, as well as everyone elseâs, were glued to the doorway from which Franki would exit. Tony stepped out first, looking his usual debonair self, red tie and pocket square perfectly aligned.
Bucky took a breath, held it, and exhaled hard when Franki appeared.
âMy GodâŠâ his voice was filled with wonder.
âI know, right?â Steve chuckled.
âSheâs gorgeous, man.â Clintâs grin was enormous.
In his ear, a little voice whispered, âSheâs an angel.â
Bucky smirked a quick grin at Jimmy. âSheâs my angel. Moya zvezdochka.â
Turning his attention back to her, he took in the stunning dress. He could see why she loved it.
It clung to her, moulded to all her lush curves, lifted her breasts to mound at the neckline. The sleek dress flared at her knees, trailed behind her, sparkled like it was covered in diamonds. The pure white set her skin glowing, her eyes shone with love and happiness. The glorious cascade of her chestnut hair fell down to her thighs in gentle waves, and the veil turned her into the most beautiful bride.
Her arms were bare, though the straps of her dress were wide. To have chosen something without sleeves caused his heart to swell. She was doing so well.
âStunning,â he whispered, unable to take his eyes off her.
When they reached him, Bucky handed Jimmy to Steve, shook Tonyâs hand, and took Frankiâs all without looking away from her eyes. The silver was soft today, her happiness so apparent he couldnât stop himself when he leaned forward and kissed her mouth.
âNot yet, Barnes!â Nat barked.
âMine,â he growled at the redhead.
Frankiâs hand caressed his cheek. âYou can have another later, snegopad.â
Her response set their guests laughing.
Vows were exchanged before the grinning priest. It hadnât mattered to Franki what type of ceremony they had, but Bucky had been raised Catholic. Even after everything heâd been through, all heâd done, marrying her any other way had felt⊠wrong.
It would have been important to his family. It became important to him with that thought. She went with him willingly to the church heâd once attended mass at so many years ago, spoke with the current priest, and received a wholehearted yes by the man.
For once, his past had worked in his favour.
The ceremony went by in a blur after that.
He was unable to see anything beyond Frankiâs eyes.
Franki stared up at Bucky, his eyes the startling sapphire blue she knew and loved. His attire for the day was not so far from what heâd worn to that fateful Halloween party a year ago. His hair was shorter than back then, but only just.
She liked it too much for him to cut it off.
He stood with her beneath the arbour of fall leaves, the trees of the garden of House Avenger a blaze in a riot of colour. The sun was setting in the background. A bird was singing. Jimmy giggled.
She noticed all these things yet saw none of them. Looking away from Bucky was impossible.
Heâd rarely if ever, looked more dashing, more handsome than he did right now.
She wanted to engrave this moment on her memory forever.
He smiled, almost as if he could read her mind.
They exchanged their vows. Later, she would wonder how she managed, as she couldnât seem to remember saying the words.
When it came time for the rings, little Jimmy had brought them to her on his blue and red shield. Sheâd crouched to kiss his sweet cheek, making him blush.
Bucky slid the ring over her left ring finger.
She slid one over his.
Tâchalla had surprised them both with a vibranium one which would work with his arm, as tough and strong as his hand was, ensuring he wouldnât destroy it should he punch something hard.
She ran her thumb over it. Some smart scientist had discovered a way to tint it slightly, make it look like titanium, so it showed against his gleaming silver hand. It made her happy. No one would ever mistake it for just another part of his finger.
When, finally, they were pronounced husband and wife, Franki threw her arms around his neck and kissed him soundly.
The roar of cheers rose around them.
Laughing happily, Franki dragged Bucky inside, away from the congratulating guests. Sheâd made prior arrangements to have Nat and Wanda gather their team for a post-ceremony toast. It was likely they would be inundated with well-wishers, but she wanted some time with those closest to her before that happened.
âWhat are you up to, wife?â Bucky grinned, enjoying her new title.
âYouâll see,â she said, smiling back at him.
He pulled her into his arms, spun her into the wall, pinned her there. âHave I told you yet how beautiful you look?â
âYou have, but I donât mind hearing it again,â Franki giggled. âBut our friends are waiting.â
âLet them wait.â Bucky tucked his face down against her throat and growled. âGod, could you smell any better?â
Laughing, Franki gave him a shove. Slipping away from his grasping hands, she picked up the front of her dress and ran for it.
âOi! I wasnât done with you!â Bucky bellowed, giving chase.
Racing into the room sheâd waited in earlier, she skidded to a halt beside Steve whose arms came up to steady her.
âEasy there, doll face,â he said.
âHands off, Rogers. Sheâs taken.â Bucky smirked at his friend before grinning at the rest of the gathered team.
Thor and Jane, Clint and Laura, Jack, Tam and Jimmy. Scott and Hope van Dyne. Sam, Wanda, Vision, Tâchalla, Natasha, and Peter. Maria and Fury. Tony, Bruce, Helen, and Steve. Everyone was there, waiting, glasses of champagne in hand.
He took one from Steve as Tony handed one to Franki.
Clearing his throat, Tony stepped forward. âA toast to the bride⊠and, I suppose the groom as well.â Quiet snickers rose around him. âYou and Iâve had a rough go, Barnes, and I only got one thing to say about it. Youâre a good guy, Frankiâs lucky to have you, but you hurt my girl, and Iâll bring the hammer down.â
âI believe that is my area, Iron Man.â Thor chuckled, Mjolnir hanging from his fist.
âHe gets my meaning,â Tony quipped.
âKotenok , stop threatening my husband.â Franki glared at him.
âJust looking out for you, precious.â Tony winked at her.
Bucky only smirked. Tony was overprotective of Franki, just like he was her father. It didnât bother him in the least. âItâs all good, Tony.â
âYouâre all such men.â Natasha rolled her eyes. Lifting her glass, she said simply, âCongratulations, sestrenka. May your happiness never end.â
A chorus of here-hereâs echoed, and they all drank.
All except Franki.
âBaby?â Bucky frowned at her. âWhatâs wrong?â
Franki glanced at Steve, noting the wet eyes and sappy smile. Natâs were knowing, as were Wandaâs, and Helenâs were patiently amused.
Turning to face Bucky, she set her glass down on a table and took a deep breath. Placing her hands on his chest, she stroked her fingers over his lapels. âYou may have noticed, snegopad, I did not send you a wedding gift.â
âWasnât a big deal, Franki. Iââ
She pressed her fingers to his lips, arching a brow in warning to shut up. âI didnât send you a gift, because I need to hang on to it for a while longer.â
He frowned, confused. âHow long?â
âOh, about seven months.â She bit her lip, trying hard not to giggle at the way the confusion cleared, became shock, then turned to complete joy.
âFrancesscaâŠâ he breathed in awe. Dropping to his knees before her, he pressed his palm flat to her belly and leaned his head against her. âPrivet, moy dragotsennaya malysh.â
âHuh?â said Tony.
âHe said, hello my precious baby.â Natasha wiped at the tears sliding down her face.
âBabyâŠâ Tony gasped. âSheâs pregnant!â
Steve laughed. âShe sure is! Congratulations, pal!â
âDid you know?â Bucky asked, looking to Steve.
Franki, touched his cheek. âHe said some very nice things to me before the wedding, lyubimaya. I should not have, but⊠I wanted to share with him.â
âDollface,â Bucky rubbed his nose across her still flat stomach. âThis is the best gift ever. Telling Steve doesnât take away from that.â
âNat, Wanda, and Helen also knew,â she confessed.
âThatâs a given,â he chuckled, not at all surprised those three knew. They'd been talking about family, so in love with Jimmy they'd decided to try for one of their own, but he'd never imagined it would happen so fast. Getting slowly to his feet, hand still laid lightly on her belly, he looked to Steve and Tony. âFrankiâs done.â
âSnegopad,â she growled low.
âAbsolutely,â Steve and Tony said together.
Franki huffed, but she wasnât about to argue today, not on her wedding day. âWe will discuss this later, da?â
âDiscuss away, malenkaya ten'. Doesnât mean youâre going back out in the field.â He swept her off her feet, up into his arms, holding her there with ease as he kissed her soundly.
Everyone gathered to give congratulations.
âToday is a most auspicious day,â Vision said, smiling down at Wanda.
âCome. We shall celebrate their good fortune.â Wanda grinned back.
âLetâs keep this between us,â Bucky said, looking around the room at all their friends. âAt least until we canât.â
Tâchalla smiled as he walked toward them. âYou will come to Wakanda when the time grows near. A safe place away from Hydra. A sheltered place.â
âTâchalla,â Franki whispered, tearing up. âThank you.â
Tâchalla took her hand, squeezed her fingers. Leaning in, he kissed her cheek. âCongratulations, little shadow. On both your wedding and your impending arrival.â
Later that night, after everyone had left and only the two of them remained, Bucky stripped Franki slowly out of her dress.
Sheâd been gorgeous in it, sparkling beneath the floating lights of the reception.
Theyâd danced beneath the stars in the grass, the song chosen by Laura and Tam, Perfect by someone named Ed Sheeran had fit far better than anything he could have come up with.
Sheâd even kicked off her shoes, dancing barefoot, exactly like the song said.
Now, standing before the empty fireplace in their sitting room, he slowly pulled the straps down. The back of the dress, a plunging âVâ heâd failed to notice until his hand had slipped beneath her hair partway through the reception, had the sleek gown falling quickly to the floor.
He moaned, finding her standing in only a pair of lacy white panties, gartered stockings, and sexy white pumps. âYouâre one gorgeous dame.â
She chuckled, sliding the jacket off his shoulders. âAnd youâre one handsome dude.â
âTease.â
âFlirt.â
He chuckled as he took her by the waist and lifted her out of the pile of fabric her dress had created. âYou tired, Mrs. Barnes?â
She shook her head. âNot tired, but a little hungry. I kept trying to eat and would get interrupted.â
âYou should have said something, malyutka! Youâre eating for two now. No skipping meals,â he scolded her gently, his hand dropping to rub circles over her belly.
âI did eat, but it was in fits and starts.â Pressing up on her toes, she wrapped her arms around Buckyâs neck. âYou get me a snack, da? Pozhaluysta, dlya rebenka?â
Stroking her bare back, he shook his head. âIs this how itâs going to be for the next seven months? Whenever you want something from me, youâll tell me itâs for the baby?â
âDa,â she snickered, kissing him firmly on the mouth. âI will not be able to use my body to get my way once I am big as house. I must learn new tricks for getting you to do my bidding.â
âBig as a house or not, you will always be the most beautiful woman,â he murmured. âAnd as thatâs my brat in your belly making you big as a house, doll face, youâre just going to be sexier.â His eyes darkened, heated.
Franki sighed happily, melting into him. âYou sweet talker. Itâs already our wedding night. You donât have to try so hard. I promise, youâre about to get lucky,â she whispered against his lips, feeling the hard length of him grow against her.
âFrancesscaâŠâ he groaned, hands gliding down to grip her ass.
âFeed me first, Barnes,â she snickered when he froze.
âStill a tease,â he grumbled.
âAnd youâre a flirt.â He smacked her on the butt, making her jolt. âHey!â
Chuckling as he let her go, he shot her a grin. âDonât act like you didnât like it, Franki.â He may not have understood the concept of pain equalled pleasure when it came to sex, and with Franki it was a moot point as pain just locked down her ability to feel anything, but she was a frisky little thing when it came to the bedroom. Far more adventurous than heâd ever expected. She quite liked his hands on her ass.
After he left the room, Franki darted toward the bedroom. It was all a ruse. Sheâd eaten enough to stuff the Hulk tonight. But she couldnât put together the second half of her surprise if he were standing there watching her.
The girls had thrown her one hell of a bachelorette party. One which included some seriously sexy underwear, but it was the gift from Natasha she was after.
Her sestra had found a reproduction forties style nightgown in beautiful white satin. The wide straps made of the softest lace, dipped down into a deep âvâ both front and back. The satin made loose cups, slightly pleated before the waist tucked in tight beneath. Another wide band of lace defined her upper torso, then more satin fell straight to the floor.
She was ridiculously excited to wear it. So much so she giggled as she pulled it out of the box sheâd hidden in her underwear drawer. Taking it reverently from within, she held it aloft, swiftly drawing it over her head. Flicking her hair from the back, Franki turned to the mirror and smiled. âPerfect.â
Bucky was going to swallow his tongue.
Squealing, she threw the robe on with it. It was a gift after all. The least she could do was let him unwrap her.
Hearing a noise in the other room, she took a deep breath, gave herself a wink in the mirror, and sauntered out to give Bucky his final present. âYou were fast, snegopad. Are you perhaps eaâŠgerâŠâ She froze in the doorway.
âWelcome, Mrs. Barnes. How good it is of you to join us.â
She didnât recognize him, but the symbol on his chest was unmistakable. âHydra scum!â she hissed, stepping forward. A half dozen weapons cocked, causing her to send a swift glanced around the room. âYou are stupider than I thought if you think you can get away with this! Do you know how many heroes are in residence?â
âTwo. You and Barnes.â
Heâd called her bluff. The otherâs had all left, returning to their homes or perspective worlds. âAre you so certain?â
âPositive.â His face was smug with triumph. âCome here, subject 7.â
Fear, overwhelming, unrelenting terror, pounded through her. âWhat?â she whispered.
âOr would you prefer Weapon F?â he chuckled. âOh? Did you think the hard drive you stole was the only place the information on your⊠program was stored? How foolish. Come here now, and I wonât kill your⊠husband.â
Her legs were like lead as she walked across the room to stand with the middle-aged man. His features were cruel and hard, his eyes cold, his skin weathered. Heâd evidently lived a hard life, one which had been permanently marked on his skin.
âWhat do you want?â And how the hell had they gotten in? There were at least a dozen agents around the room, each heavily armed. Why had their security failed? Where the hell was Friday?
He twisted a lock of her hair around his finger, tracing appreciative eyes down her body.
Franki refused to flinch. Her robe was well tied. He saw nothing more than her silhouette.
âThey call you Reaper. What a shame. Losing someone of your talents will be horrible. It really is too bad we canât simply wipe you. But, you will serve another purpose now.â His eyes dropped to her abdomen.
She had to fight not to recoil. There was no way they could know! What tests had been run had been done so by Helen, secretly and without a paper trail. This was merely him trying to reinstate the program. âI will never be a broodmare for Hydra!â
His hand latched onto her hair, jerked her around by it. âYou will be a breeding bitch if that is what we tell you to be!â
All sensation had cut off with the first sharp pull. Cold, emotionless, empty, she stared him down. âI will never again be bitch for Hydra!â
âNot even to save your man?â he nodded towards the door.
âFranki, I wasnât sure what all youâd want so IâŠâ Bucky froze, eyes glued to Franki held captive by a Hydra agent. He shot a glance around the room, calculated the risks. âWhat do you want?â
âAh, Winter Soldier. How good of you to join us.â He motioned Bucky forward with a wave of his gun.
Setting the plate he was carrying down, Bucky strolled toward Frankiâs captor until the gun swung toward her temple.
âThatâs far enough. Weapons?â
Gritting his teeth, Bucky shook his head.
âShow me,â the man from Hydra demanded.
Turning around, Bucky showed the tucked in back of his shirt. His sleeves were already rolled to his elbows, but he tugged both pant legs up. No weapons.
âExcellent. Now, we are going to have a little chat, then you are going to comply. Is that understood, soldier?â
Glancing to Franki, Bucky muttered, âDa.â
âGood, good.â The man chuckled. âItâs quite simple really. We want our soldier back. Comply, and keep your wife. Resist, she dies.â
The gun cocked. Frankiâs eyes never left his.
âFine.â
âBucky!â Franki gasped.
âShut up, Franki.â He looked to the man holding her. âDo it.â
âSuch a good soldier. It will be so nice to have you back. Letâs begin, shall we?â He didnât wait for Bucky to agree. âZhelaniye.â
âŠlongingâŠ
Frankiâs heart pounded when Buckyâs fists clenched. âNoâŠâ It couldnât beâŠ
âRzhavyy⊠semnadtsatâ."
⊠rusted⊠seventeenâŠ
He flinched, curling in slightly, his eyes darting back to Frankiâs. âBaby⊠take care.â
Franki cried out, but the barrel of the gun pressed to her temple.
âRassvet ⊠pecht'⊠devyatâ.â
⊠daybreak⊠furnace⊠nineâŠ
His hands went to his head, fisted there as he groaned, an excruciating sound that sent tears streaming down Frankiâs face.
âDobroserdechnyy⊠vozvrashcheniye na rodinu⊠odin.â
⊠benign⊠homecoming⊠one
He fell to his knees, the groan of pain becoming a scream of agony.
âBucky! No! Fight it!â Franki screamed, uncaring of the gun at her temple.
The man holding her at gunpoint only laughed. âGruzovoy vagon!â he crowed triumphantly.
...freight train...
All noise ended; silence reigned supreme.
Frankiâs face was wet with tears. There was blood dripping from the lip sheâd bitten through.
Bucky was panting, still on his knees where heâd fallen.
âSnegopadâŠâ she whispered.
âSoldat?â the Hydra agent called.
âYa gotov otvechat.â
⊠ready to complyâŠ
âNo!â she screamed. It couldnât be! Heâd been deprogrammed. But she found his eyes had become dead, lifeless. There wasnât a hint of the Bucky sheâd known anywhere in his familiar blue eyes. Here, now, sat the same type of soldier who had tried to kill her all those years ago.
The man with the gun hit her in the face, but it didnât even register.
âBucky,â she groaned. Sagging against the hold on her hair, the Hydra agent finally let go, allowing her to slump to the floor. Bitter tears cascaded down her face. âBuckyâŠâ
âOn your feet, soldier.â
Bucky rose, walked forward, paid no attention to her. âYa gotov otvechat,â he said again.
âHere. Show me youâre a good soldier. Shoot the woman in the leg. I have seen a video of her powers. I wish to see it in person.â The man from Hydra handed his gun to Bucky.
Checking the weapon, Bucky pointed it at her.
She didnât care. He wasnât her Bucky anymore. Whatever he did from now on, she would never hold it against him.
The gun fired, but as she felt nothing, she didnât bother to flinch or look up until the body of the Hydra agent fell beside her.
âFrancessca! Move your ass!â Bucky bellowed, wrenching her to her feet. Firing as they went, he herded her through the door to their bedroom. âGoddamnit, Steve! Do it now!â
A loud bang went off behind them, making Franki jump.
Bucky only slammed the door. âAre you hurt? Did you get hit? The baby?â His hands ran frantically over her body.
She could only stare up at him in shock. âBuckyâŠâ she whispered, reaching for his face. His frantic hands stopped when the sob escaped her lips. âI thought⊠but you were⊠but you had been deprogrammed! What the fuck, Barnes?â she screamed.
âShh⊠easy, doll face. Calm down, baby.â He held her against him, rocked her gently side to side as floods of tears and choking sobs continued to pour from her.
Finally, once she was calmer, Franki pulled back enough to lightly pound her fist against his chest. âWhat the hell was that?â
Scooping her off her feet, he made his way over to the extra-large chair in their bedroom, one perfect for cuddling, or so heâd discovered when theyâd first moved in. Sitting, he did so with her now, pulling her in, tucking her head beneath his chin, making sure she was wrapped up tight in his arms. Â âNo, the trigger words donât work anymore. Steve and I, or Nat and I, go through them once a month, just to be safe. But, while we know the deprogramming worked, Hydra doesnât. And weâll keep it that way.â
A few more loud sounds, gunfire, slamming bodies, echoed outside her bedroom door. âAnd Steve? How did he know to come?â
âI knew the instant they breached the house and sent an alert. Not sure about outside yet, Friday was checking. But I couldnât warn you, baby, not without tipping them off. Iâm sorry, Francessca for scaring you like that.â
Turning her face into his throat, Franki trembled as the adrenaline wore off. âSo much for our wedding night,â she sighed.
âAnd you look so beautiful. Whereâd you find that, doll?â Her robe had come open in the rush for safety, revealing the lovely satin and lace beneath which he was slowly walking his fingers over.
âNatashaâŠâ she sighed when his fingers trailed over her nipple.
âHm, Natalia deserves a fucking statue in her honour. First your friend, then your sestra, now she gives you gifts like this? Damn, baby,â he chuckled, tugging her robe closed when silence outside preceded the knock at the door. âCâmon in, punk!â
âYouâre a punk,â Steve grumbled, wiping drywall dust off his face. âYou got to relax with a lap full of sweetheart while I cleaned up the mess.â
âLooks like you made a mess, belyyâ rystar,â Franki teased.
âYou alright there, doll?â he asked, striding closer.
She nodded. âNo damage, Cap.â
âPrecious cargo and all?â
âEveryone is fine, Steven,â she huffed. âYou are going to be just as bad as him, arenât you?â She pointed at Bucky.
He didnât even try to look contrite, just smiled and nodded. âWe got âem rounded up, Buck, but youâre not going to want to stay here. Thor got a little⊠zealous and part of the roof is missingâŠâ He rubbed at the back of his neck.
Another tentative knock came at the door, and Tâchalla poked his head through. âAm I interrupting?â
âNope,â Bucky waved him in. âWho cares, itâs only our bedroom.â
âHush, Bucky.â Franki scolded.
âI will not keep you, but I thought, with this sudden turn of events, perhaps it would be prudent to leave for your honeymoon⊠now.â The big man was in full Panther garb, carrying his helmet beneath his arm.
Steve, too, was fully equipped.
It always amazed her the speed at which they could get all that stuff on. âYou might be right. Tony!â she bellowed.
âYeah, precious?â His head, mask and all, poked through the open door. âOoh, foursome. How progressive of you, Barnes.â
âTony!â Franki gasped, âGet out!â
âBut you called me in!â
âThen behave for once. This is important!â
He looked properly chastised, or at least his suit did. It was hard to tell with the mask down. He could be grinning for all he was worth in there.
âFine. We have small problem,â she said.
âWhatâs that, doll?â Bucky muttered.
âThe Hydra agent in charge, he called me subject 7.â Sheâd never seen four grown men panic so swiftly in all her life. âCalm down! I do not think they are aware of the programâs success, simply that I am with Bucky.â But it was too much of a risk to take. Especially now.
âWeâre going to Wakanda.â Buckyâs voice was cold with finality.
âAnd if they come for me there? What happens when news of this pregnancy gets out?â She didnât want to put more people in danger because it was convenient to hide out in Wakanda.
âMy people would never speak of it if that is my wish,â Tâchalla promised.
âMy baby is not something to hide!â Franki barked, tears coming to her eyes.
âYou could always come to Asgard.â
She looked up to find Thor standing in the doorway, a massive grin on his face. âAnd never see my husband?â
His face fell.
Sighing, Bucky pulled her in tight. âWeâll figure it out, doll. Donât fret. Letâs go to Wakanda, have a few nice days first before figure it out. Sound good?â
Sniffling, causing all the men in the room to freeze, Franki finally nodded. âDa.â
Twenty minutes later, her bags already packed, Franki walked onto the back of the quinjet.
Stopping at the top, she looked to her friends gathered at the bottom of the ramp. They waved or smiled, spoke words of farewell and well-wishes. She simply nodded, continuing inside to sit in the co-pilot seat beside Bucky.
âYou okay, Franki?â he asked quietly.
âDa, but, I have a strange feeling I will not see them again for some time.â
When he reached over and took her hand, she knew she wasnât the only one.
The End⊠for now.
ONE HUNDRED THIRTY - THE FINAL BATTLE (3)
LEGACY: A Tony Stark Daughter Story
FULL STORY MASTERLIST
ENDING THREE MASTERLIST
< previous
Word Count: 1,580ish
Summary: The final battle begins.
~~~
We were all thrown in different directions. Steve quickly grabbed onto me to try to shield me from the blast. The impact, along with all the emotions, caused me to be easily knocked out. Steve also fell unconscious. Tony got up and quickly found the two of us, finding Steveâs lost shield in the process. He knelt down between us and gently shook the two of us.Â
âCome on, guys. Wake up,â he urged. Steve moved first. âThatâs my man.âÂ
 Tony held up the shield for the Captain to take. âYou lose this again, Iâm keeping it.âÂ
Tony turned to me. âBailey, kid⊠Get up.â
I groaned. âWhat happened?â I asked.
âWe messed with time. It tends to mess back. Youâll see.â Tony helped me up and then Cap. âYou okay, B?â
âMmhmm,â I nodded. âIâm fine. It was just a lot of emotions all at once⊠Everyoneâs definitely back.â
When we walked out of the ruble we were in, we found Thor looking down at the destroyed facility. I followed his eyes to see what he was looking at to find Thanos sitting on a pile of debris.Â
I looked into the villainâs mind. He was the 2014 version of Thanos. He had found out that he had been successful in the future because of the 2023 Nebula and he switched them out. How had I not seen that? He knew that we were trying to undo his plan. Thanos was leading us into a trap.
âWhatâs he been doing?â Tony asked.
âAbsolutely nothing,â Thor answered, his eyes not moving from their target.
âWhere are the stones?â Cap asked.
âSomewhere under all this,â Tony answered, motioning to the rumble.Â
âIâm in his head. He definitely doesnât have them,â I cut in. âNor does he know where they are.âÂ
âSo we keep it that way,â Cap instructed.Â
âYou know itâs a trap, right?â Thor said.
âYeah,â Tony replied. âAnd I donât much care.â
âGood⊠Just as long as we are all in agreement.â Thunder and lightning made their presence none as Thor summoned Stormbreaker and 2013 Mjolnir. âLetâs kill him properly this time.âÂ
I began walking with the three of them, but soon Tony glanced over and the three of them stopped. They turned to me and I already knew what they were planning on doing.
âI can read your minds, you know that right?â I said. âIâm fighting with you guys. Iâve already been in his head and he hasnât even noticed yet. I can help.â I grabbed Tonyâs hands. âI know what you are going to say. You want me safe. Well I canât be safe when my home has just been destroyed and you are here fighting. I can help. Iâve trained for this.â
Tony nodded once in response before hugging me and giving me a kiss on the cheek. âI love you,â he whispered.
âI love you too.â
The four of us then continued on to our destination. Thanos was still sitting on the pile of debris, watching us carefully. I was waiting for the right time to enter his mind once again.
âYou could not live with your own failure,â the purple giant started. âAnd where did that bring you? Back to me. I thought by eliminating half of life, the other half would thrive. But youâve shown me thatâs impossible. And as long as there are those that remember what was, there will always be those that are unable to accept what can be. They will resist.â
âYep. Weâre all kinds of stubborn,â Tony shot back. We all moved around, surrounding the Mad Titan on all sides.Â
âIâm thankful. Because now, I know what I must do.â He stood up. âI will shred this universe down to its last atom.â He put his helmet on. âAnd then⊠with the stones youâve collected for me, create a new one. Teeming with life, but knows not what it has lost but only what I has been given. A grateful universe.â
âBorn out of blood,â Cap stated.
âTheyâll never know it. Because you wonât be alive to tell them.â
The four of us began attacking him from all sides. Punching, kicking, shooting, throwing, every thing we could do.Â
Tony landed in front of Thor at one point, a target on his suit opening up.Â
âOkay, Thor,â Tony called. âHit me.â
Thor summoned lightning and then hit his two hammers together, directing the lightning to Tonyâs suit.Â
The suit took in the energy and shot it all at Thanos. Thor then used Mjolnir to hit Thanos as I attacked from behind. Thanos used Tony as a shield from Thor resulting in his suit being damaged. Thanos then threw Tony to the side.
âDad!â I shouted as he landed on the ground. I knew that he had passed out.
Steve then tried to attack Thanos but was easily shielded away. Thor then went after him but was blocked by a sword.Â
Thor began to be beaten and choked by Thanos. I quickly tried to help but was tossed to the side. Thor tried to reach for Stormbreaker but Thanos grabbed it quickly and began using it against Thor. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Mjolnir lifting off the ground, the hammer flying into Steveâs hand. Thanos watched in amazement as I smirked.Â
âI knew it!â Thor excitedly proclaimed.Â
Thanos kicked Thor back to the ground before turning to Steve. Steve charged at Thanos while swinging Mjolnir, successfully hitting Thanos in the face and knocking him down.Â
He then threw his shield at the Man Titan who deflected it. Mjolnir is then thrown to the Captainâs shield, creating a shockwave and knocking Thanos off his feet. I finally got back up after being in shock at watching Steve fight using both his shield and Mjolnir. I began shooting at him as Steve summoned lightning, aiming it at Thanos, and the Titan tried to get the upper hand.Â
And it wasnât that hard for him to. He grabbed me by the neck and I quickly got into his head. He could feel me this time.
âWhat are you looking for, my child?â He asked.
âYour-r⊠w-weaknessâŠâ I stuttered, grabbing at his hands to let me go.
âBailey!â Steve shouted.Â
I glanced to the side as Mjolnir flew passed and barely missed hitting the giant purple grape that was clinging onto me. I pushed harder into his mind. Gamora was still alive, still one of his weaknesses but not like the other Thanos. Nebula definitely wasnât his weakness. Getting the Stones were but I couldnât figure out how to use that against him. He began to squeeze my neck harder as I ventured further into his mind.
âGet out!â Thanos frustratedly demanded.Â
He gave my neck one final squeeze before tossing me on top of Thor. Thor tried his best to protect us both as I collided with him. He laid me down in his lap, I was coughing and my helmet disappeared into my suit. Thor began brushing my hair out of my face.
âItâs okay,â he tried to sooth. âIâve got youâŠâ
âW-whereâsâŠâ I coughed. âmy dad?â
âI donât know,â Thor shook his head. I began to push myself off of him.Â
âI have to find him.â As the two of us helped each other up, a crackling noise came through the coms. We glanced at each other.
âCap,â the voice sounded familiar, but it wasnât one I hand heard in a long time. âYou read me?âÂ
Steve immediately stopped heading towards Thanos and his army, glancing around. We made eye contact. Hope finally making its way to both our eyes. âCap, itâs Sam,â the voice sounded through the coms again. âCan you hear me?âÂ
I glanced behind Steve as I saw a yellow portal, similar to the ones I saw Dr. Strange and Wong use five years ago, begin to form behind him. âOn your left.âÂ
Steve looked behind him to see the portal. Three figures step through, Okoye, Shuri, and TâChalla, all ready to fight. Â
Sam zoomed through from above in his Falcon armor. Then dozens of more portals opened up around our side of the battlefield. I watched all of them open, finally seeing my once fallen friends, family.Â
Dr. Strange and Peter, oh my precious brother Peter, came through the same portal and I almost cried at the sight.Â
The Wakandan army came through as well as the Asgardians and the Masters of the Mystic Arts. I saw Wanda and Bucky, making eye contact with him. He gave me a strained smile. I finally caught site of my father lying the the ground and ran up to him.
âDad!â I said, crouching down besides him.Â
All of a sudden, a purple and silver Iron Man suit landed in front of the two of us. The mask flipped open to reveal my mother, Pepper.Â
âMom?â I asked as I walked over to her.
âYou think you and your father are the only ones in this family that can put up a fight?â She retorted.
As all of our side gathers together, Pepper and I hover up above them. Seeing everyone back brought me so much joy, but what we were about to do scared me. Everyone just came back, and we could lose them all again in a more permanent way.
âAvengers!âÂ
I heard Steve shout as he summoned Mjolnir.
ââŠassemble.âÂ
We all then charged at Thanos and his army. Ready to end this once and for all.Â

Oh god what about Valerie. I don't know with who because I'm not very versed in marvel at all (yet. I'm wait for the summer to binge watch). So please, Valerie with anyone from marvel. (BTW you got me into Marvel so thank you)
Me getting you into Marvel has been my greatest accomplishment in 2017. Iâm happy I could help you out :)
-------
Pairing: Valerie Grey x Wanda MaximoffPrompt: âYouâre just gonna leave me alone here like this? No return date? Nothing?â/"Trust me when I say this: you'll never be alone. I'll be back, someday."Â
--------
âWhat do you mean you have to go?â Wanda asked, gripping Valerieâs hands fearfully. Her Valerie. Her own superhero. She was strong, independent, and man, Wanda could get lost in her eyes forever. She would gladly spend an eternity just starring at them.
âIâm sorry, babe, but I have to,â Valerie said. Wanda wouldnât understand the importance of her mission. And she didnât want her girlfriend getting hurt in the Ghost Zone because of Valerie. She wouldnât be able to live with herself if anything happened to her.
âYouâre just gonna leave me alone like this? No return date? Nothing?â Wanda was crying now, not wanting to let go of Valerieâs hands, and it broke her heart. She was trying to hold back her own tears as she pulled Wanda into a tight hug.
âTrust me when I say this,â she said, âYou will never be alone. Iâll be back someday. Time in the Zone is really weird.â
She let go and moved the hair from Wandaâs face before kissing her goodbye, possibly for the last time, and pulled her mask over her head. She hopped on her board and pressed a button on her wrist, opening a portal to the Ghost Zone. She couldnât stop herself from looking back at Wanda as she floated through.
They were still looking at one another when it closed.
Valerie dove headfirst into battle, unable to stop thinking about the fact that she might never see Wanda again.
-----
Wanda stared at the space where Valerie, her sweet, sweet Valerie, had disappeared. She could help. She could have stopped Valerie easily, but something in the back of her head had forced her not to. She couldnât figure out why. Maybe it was just because Valerie had asked her not to? Or because she knew this was important to Valerie? She had felt her girlfriendâs emotions before she went into the Ghost Zone, alone and heartbroken.
What if they never saw each other again?
Wanda dropped to her knees, hugging herself as tears streamed down her face. She didnât know how long she had stayed like that. She had only ever felt pain like this three times. The first, when her parents were killed, and er and Pietro were stuck under the bed for days, waiting for a bomb to kill them. The second was when her beloved brother had died at the hands of the robot they had helped. And now this. The feeling was so overwhelming. The tightness in her chest was suffocating, and she couldnât see through he blurriness of her tears.
She let that feeling fuel her as she stood up again, wiping away her tears. She felt determined. Whatever Valerie wanted to keep her safe from, Wanda knew she could not do it alone. She knew that they worked best when they were together, they always have. It was one of the things that had made them so attracted to each other.
Wanda stormed her way down to Starkâs lab where she knew a portal to the Ghost Zone was. And it wasnât long before she was inside, following the sound of fighting, ignoring the fact that several ghosts were running away from that direction.
They were cowards for not helping her Valerie.
-------
Valerie ducked and dodged Nocturne, glaring at him as he grew larger. He was holding a sleeping Dani by the throat, and Danny had been blasted by the evil ghost and was now being beat up on by the minions, who were merciless. The only one who could really fight the monster and probably do some damage was Valerie. She charged her largest gun and fired, but he merely blocked it with a ghost shield.
She flew straight towards him, pressing her boardâs self destruct button. She back-flipped off of it as soon as she was close enough, letting her board blow up right in Nocturneâs face. He let go of Dani, waving away the debris from his face. Valerie flew over, sending a silent thank you to Stark for giving her a jetpack, and caught Dani. But as soon as she did, she was hit to the side.
She hit the ground-hard-and wondered just for a moment if she actually would make it back to Wanda. No! She had to stop thinking about that, because of course she would make it back. She had promised. Valerie never broke those.
But her visor was cracked and she was pretty sure some of her ribs were broken from the fall. Her vision was staring to get blurry, but Danny was still getting beaten to a pulp, and Valerie was the only one that could still throw a punch. Barely, but if it was enough to slow Nocturne down she would take it.
She stood up, leaving Dani on the ground and praying to god sheâd be safe from any hits Nocturne threw.
Her jetpack was busted, meaning she had to do this on foot. She looked around wildly, trying to find something that would work against the ghost. She started running, her chest burning with pain, away from Dani and to a purple tree. If she could get on Nocturne then sheâs sure she could think of a better plan once she was there.
Then, out of nowhere, more minions showed up. Valerie skidded to a stop before bringing out two ghost pistols. However, before she could fire them, some sort of red energy gripped them and threw them towards the minions that were on Danny, knocking enough of them away for him to get some leverage back.
Valerie took another step forward, but fell to her knee, clutching her torso. She must be more injured than she originally thought.
âValerie!â
Her head snapped up as her girlfriend ran towards her.
âAre you okay?â She asked. Worry was in her accent, and Valerie, despite not being happy that Wanda was here, was glad Wanda was here.
âIâm fine. What are you doing here?â She grit out, wincing at the pain. Wanda looked at her closely, then at Nocturne. Her hands lit up with red energy as she watched Danny try to drag Dani away to some place safer, deflecting any blast that came his way.
âI am helping.â
Wanda felt her anger wash over her, using it to fuel her powers. She was always told not to mess with peopleâs minds, but for this creature she would make an exception.
Nocturne laughed at her as she walked towards him. Mocked her for thinking she could take him down all by herself when he had bested her other friends. But Wanda didnât think she could do that.
She knew she could.
Her red energy wrapped itself around his mind, peeling back the layers of walls he had put up. She could feel his fear, his arrogance, and his pain. She squeezed her hand and felt a sudden surge of misery from Nocturne. He clutched his head, throwing a couple of ectoblasts at her, but none of them even came close to hitting her.
The more she used her powers to torment his mind the more he shrunk, until he was about as tall as Clint. She walked up to him and released her powers. He dropped to what she assumed was his knees, feeling no mercy for the creature. She wasnât going to kill him, but if he went crazy after this she wasnât going to feel sorry for him.
She gripped his horns and slammed his head into her knee, knocking him out cold.
âLeave him there.â
She turned to see Danny, his face swollen and almost unrecognizable. His whole body was beaten and bruised, and there was an ugly gash on his thigh, but he still stood strong as he helped Dani get to her feet.
âThe Observants will get him. Right now we should just get home.â Wanda nodded and moved to Valerie. She helped her stand and walk as Danny held out his hand and made a portal to the Tower.
------
When Valerie woke up, she wasnât surprised to see that she was in the med bay hooked up to several machines. To her left was Danny, sleeping blissfully as his heart monitor beeped much slower than hers.
At the side of her bed was Wanda, who had fallen asleep while touching Valerieâs hand. She smiled to herself and combed through some of Wandaâs hair.
Wanda at up, bleary eyed, and yawned before smiling at Valerie.
âI told you I would make it back,â Valerie said. âI just didnât say how.â
Wanda huffed and rolled her eyes before climbing onto the bed and wrapping her arms around Valerie, laying her head on her shoulder.
âYou are an idiot,â she said. Valerie smiled and placed a kiss on Wandaâs head.
âYeah. But Iâm your idiot.â
