- Ascensionism by Sleep Token
Calm, nearly silent breathing was the only minuscule sound that filled the darkness of the bedroom around you. With your eyes forcefully shut, you tried to fall asleep, had been at it for at least the past 30 minutes but your racing mind always flung back to the dull ache emitting from the palm of your right hand. The fresh memories of clasping too tightly around a delicate glass of champagne completely on purpose until it shattered into sharp smithereens circulated in your thoughts, taking lap after lap, whilst you sought to calm the still raging anger in your chest.
Although the worst part of your desperation-fueled tantrum was over, the leftover flickers of outrage still prevailed. By whatever god out there, you were so sick of it. So sick of being stuck in this mansion with the world very much at your fingertips but no way to get out. No way to leave this designer-architected hellhole to lead a normal life and just be one of millions again, no. That train left the station years ago when you had started out as a simple intern at CyberLife and Elijah Kamski, the prodigy high up above, the demi-god of modernization himself took an interest in you and you greedily grabbed the hand of opportunity not only by its pinky. Back then not even the sky seemed to be the limit but now you found yourself trapped between silken duvet covers and marble-tiled rooms.
“Would you listen to me for a moment?” Elijah’s calm tone from behind pulled you out of your thoughts.
“Uh-huh…” It rolled over your tongue in an exhausted murmur.
“Does it hurt badly?” You felt him scooting closer, his tall frame cupping your backside.
“So so…” You huffed, shrugging your tense shoulders.
“Let me see.” Elijah’s fingertips snaked along your waist down to your hips, tracing your elbow from there on upwards until his palm wrapped itself around your wrist.
In a gentle and slow movement, he pulled your hand closer to his face.
“It’ll be okay.” You tried to dismiss it.
“Eventually.”, Elijah agreed right before you felt his plush lips planting soft pecks along your knuckles, “I’m sorry it came to this in the first place.”
"Are you?" You inquired with a carefully aimed edge to your tone.
"Please, don't be like that now. Of course I'm sorry that you're hurt." Elijah groaned quietly, his thumb stroking over the back of your hand.
His slight annoyance gave you a little kick, because it was exactly what you wanted to coax out of him. A reaction, an acknowledgement of your discomfort, your seemingly endless boredom.
"Yet I also wonder why nothing I offer you ever seems to be enough…", Your senses perked up at his words because you knew what was about to happen and you really needed it to, "Haven’t I given you everything, love? Am I not spoiling you rotten?"
Every little bit of his accusations went straight to your head and you let them in, craved for Elijah to get into your mind like that because it brought you a twisted sense of comfort in the way it belittled your needs.
"You do." You agreed, the slowly building blame gradually covering the biting loneliness stinging in your chest.
"So what more do you want?" Elijah hummed against the shell of your ear, lulled you in further with his warm breath breezing along your neck.
"Your attention. You left the company but you still don't seem to be here…with me.", It trickled from your lips in an honest answer, "You're everywhere all the time but not here."
The latter sentence felt like clawing its way out of your lungs, leaving you raw and sore on the inside for letting slip how much you really needed Elijah to throw you but a morsel of his affection every now and then. With that, you sensed your facade slipping away. The anger and pretentious pride had failed to cover up the puddle of hurt you felt yourself being drenched in and for a split second you pondered whether you really crushed that dainty champagne flute to gather his attention or if that had been you, punishing yourself for still craving his attention.
Whilst trying to take a deep breath, you noticed your chest trembling and your bottom lip quivering dangerously. You were unmistakably about to lose it completely but bit down onto your tongue harshly enough to keep yourself from falling apart at the seams.
"Turn around. Can you do that for me?" He withdrew his hand from your wrist to give you enough space to shuffle around underneath the expensive duvet.
In an haphazardly executed attempt to pull back the burning tears gathering at your lower lash line, you slowly turned around to look straight into an unexpectedly calm expression on Elijah’s face.
Calm or indifferent? It crossed your mind but you banished that thought right back to where it emerged from. Instead, your eyes slowly roamed over his features, from his lips that were slightly curled up into a hardly even there smile to his striking blue eyes and eventually up to the vagrant strands of his darkish blonde hair framing and softly falling into his face.
Looking at Elijah like that damn near killed you from the inside out because it reminded you of the version of him you had fallen in love with years ago. The witty and incredibly sharp CEO that worked alongside his developers instead of secluding himself in an ivory tower of vanity. The man that had even conducted the interview for your apprenticeship himself whilst cradling a cardboard cup of coffee in his hands, the fuzzy sleeves of a blue zipper pulled up to his knuckles, his eyes sparkling at you with endless excitement.
Now, barely anything of that warmth was left. With the years it all went down the drain of multimillion dollar deals over hordes and hordes of androids. Sometimes you felt as if Elijah grew a little colder with every android that sold and a part of you had started hating them for seemingly taking him away from you, eating away at his own humanity piece by piece. You couldn't decide whether or not those thoughts and speculations had anything to them, really, yet you couldn’t stop them from crossing your mind every now and then.
"Some days I wake up wishing to be just another android so you'd tend to me, Eli." The words bubbled out of you in an unbridled gush of emotions, just like the first burning tears spilling over your lash line.
"Come on now, that's nonsense. You're irreplaceable and you know that." Elijah’s brows arched up, closely knit together in a borderline scolding expression, disdain over your utterings washing across his face.
"Do I?", You sniffled, his harsh and cold response cutting right through you, "It's getting quite hard to hold on to that, Elijah, when the only thing you get reminded about on the daily is how utterly invisible you are."
"Stop that right there. You're not invisible to me and now you're just throwing around words." Elijah's eyes narrowed down on you in growing irritation.
"Throwing around words, yeah?", His dismissal came like a ladle full of ethanol to the embers of your rage fit, actively making you spew the most hurtful things that were waiting right at the tip of your tongue, "Do you fuck them?"
"Excuse me?" For a split second it seemed as if Elijah’s jaw was about to drop.
"Do you fuck your robots?" You repeated yourself, a surge of pride for having rendered him dumbfounded for the blink of an eye tugging at your lips before the mere thought of it turned you blind with jealousy.
"No." Elijah stated bluntly, his teeth slightly clenching.
"Oh?", You mocked, pushing it further, "How come?"
"Because none of them…", He sneered, his hand darting upward for it to grab you by the throat in a firm grasp, "None of them could ever be as feisty as you are, love."
You heard your breath hitching and felt Eli's thumb brush over your pulse point as he leaned in, his lips almost touching yours.
"Because I can't feel their pulse picking up or see their pupils widening like yours right now, getting so terribly worked up and flustered over being talked to like that, hm?", You were painfully aware how the heat crept into your face with every word of his, "Because my androids don't need to be put in their place because they wouldn't get so catastrophically mouthy and bratty, now would they?"
"No, no.", He answered his own question with a sly smirk playing around his mouth whilst the clasp of his hand grew tighter until he could feel every quickened pump of your heart right underneath his skin, "They follow a script, a code, they are boring…so unlike you."
Elijah leaned in further, eventually closing down on the tiny bit of space left between your bodies, his lips eagerly pressing onto yours for the first time in days. His proximity, the bare presence of him sent your mind reeling, it soothed the boiling anger in your chest but it wasn't enough, not enough in the slightest to still your aching need for his affection.
A slightly pained mewl of yours got muffled by his tongue snaking into your mouth as your hands practically clawed onto his sides, the brutalized one, with its countless thin cuts, flaring up anew.
"Ouw, does that hurt?" He cooed into your mouth, his free hand shooting towards yours resting on his hip and pressing down harder.
"I'm afraid that's what you get for being naughty, acting up like that. Poor little attention whore." The unmistakably derogatory tone in his voice jolted right amidst your thighs, causing you to clench and throb around nothing.
" 'M sorry…" It fell from your lips in a breathless moan, your words sincere.
You truly felt sorry about being so whiny and bitchy when Elijah gave you everything you could possibly dream of.
"Oh, shut up. I don't want to hear anything from you right now. Not a single fucking thing. You got that?" You nodded and choked back a whine as Eli latched his teeth at your bottom lip, pulling and dragging your head along until he let it slip again.
"There you go, looks like you can listen after all." To reward your silence, he freed your throat from his tight grasp but only to lean himself on his elbow whilst shoving himself on top of you.
On instinct, you spread your legs for him pathetically fast, calves wrapping around his waist in an instant.
"Good girl.", Elijah hummed against your cheek, nearly coaxing a whimper out of you as his other hand slid between your bodies, slender fingers playing over your trembling stomach and eventually down to align himself with your entrance, the tip of his cock prodding against your already oozing cunt, "I'd never fuck an android and you know why? Because they'd never just get oh so hot and desperately wet like you do, love."
His breathing rendered more labored with every inch of him that spearheaded into you, stretching you out to accommodate him properly. With furrowed brows, you bit down on your bottom lip, hiding your flustered face in his shoulder to shut down every possible sound that might come out of your mouth upon feeling Elijah drilling into you.
"Wouldn't waste a thought on it when I can just be balls deep inside your perfect pussy." His hushed voice intoxicated you as he started rocking his hips into your lap at a reckless pace right away, a heavy moan threatening to erupt from your lungs.
God, you wanted to groan and whine out your hammering arousal so badly but shoved it all back down your throat as hard as you possibly could. It almost felt like a sore, dry lump forming right behind your tongue that you couldn't do anything about but to swallow it over and over again.
"Not even I could build something so magnificent as you are." Eli's hot breath stroke over your jawline and everything in you clung onto these words, although, for the blink of an eye, you found yourself wondering if that was just him getting increasingly drunk on your body with each and every hard roll of his waist, not pulling out fully before hammering into you again.
"Maybe I should just knock you up sometime soon, huh?", In a weak attempt to steady yourself, you clawed at his back, fingernails digging into his skin, "Actually creating a life, I bet you'd love that, wouldn't you?"
Instead of words, your body delivered the answer to that. To silence everything that was just on the brink of shooting out of your mouth, your body convulsing and shuddering in a quiet orgasm, you bit down on your bottom lip so hard that you were almost sure to draw blood.
"Fuck, pulling me in so desperately." In a frantic rut, the rhythm of his movements gradually faltering, Elijah pressed his lips to yours again with a nearly bruising force.
"Such a good girl, trying to be obedient and quiet for me." He noted you violating your bottom lip whilst shoving himself into your spasming cunt as far as he could one last time before his own climax took over.
You felt it spurt out of him, filling you up that extra notch and it took every last bit of self-control to not just let your head loll back into the satin-covered pillows and whine out at the sensation.
"Fucking hell…that was so overdue, I give you that." With a low groan, Elijah pulled out of you, moving his body to collapse next to yours.
Letting your abused bottom lip finally slip from between your teeth, you felt the emotional whiplash washing right over the blissful release you experienced just moments before.
"Next time just tell me, no need to squash a glass with that pretty hand of yours."

⁂~The System~⁂
Tumblr media
Summary -> The classic SAGAU plot but with a little something extra!
Note -> Yes, I know, I said I lost interest. But hey, motivation strikes you randomly. This is kind of cult, kind of SAGAU, so...
Chapter 2/Chapter 3
Tumblr media
A game. That's what Genshin was. You say "was" because it used to be just a game to you. The memories of grinding endlessly for materials, the excitement bursting in you once you see the golden glow on your screen while wishing, how invested you were in the mountains of lore buried into just one game - that was your connection with the game at first.
Just imagine your inner shock when you found yourself basking in the shade of the massive oak tree planted in Windrise. The sunlight that beamed through the lacing of leaves had awoken you from your sleep, the calm zephyr around you felt almost comforting with the hinting smell of mints and herbs around.
Is this Genshin? You question why you even thought of that. Genshin's just a game! Yet, you could see packs of hillichurls and slimes bouncing around the vicinity.
Before you could accustom yourself to your surroundings in the state of your confusion, the world around you begins to glitch. The windrise tree you laid your back onto suddenly faded. It was pitch black with nothing around you.
The sound of a bell rang once and you saw a blue, floating digital screen appear in front of you. You carefully read the text on it.
Welcome, anomaly.
"Anomaly?" You tapped the screen.
You had appeared out of nowhere. You are not supposed to be here.
"Well, of course. I was just in bed." Another tap on the screen brought you to the following message. Weirdly, you felt like you were actually being observed like you were talking to another person.
You're too... detailed to be simply a glitch. Yet, you also seem... too human.
Who are you?
"I..." No words could form in your mouth, so you had no choice but to force them out. "I'm just a person, I guess. Oh! You can call me (Name)."
...what a straightforward answer. Nevermind. Do you know where you are?
You shake your head. "If you mean this empty space, then no. But, if you're talking about Windrise, then that's a different story."
Windrise, so you do know. Perhaps it would be easier, to be frank with you as well.
Silence suddenly erupts between you and the person using this screen to communicate with you.
What is your relationship with this world?
"I'm a player, Iike anyone else. I guess Genshin is just a way to blow off steam? Or distract me?" The screen doesn't pop up for a while.
Oh... oh! Oh dear, have I been mistreating my visitor?
The space around you begins to glitch out again. Things begin to reappear and you finally see something other than the color black. An ocean of stars gleams above you. Constellations of characters could be spotted if you looked hard enough around the vast mix of purple and blue galaxies.
Multiple blue screens spawn around you, depicting all of the different nations that you've explored.
"Do you feel comfortable?" The sound of a voice reaches your ears and you turn to see this... figure.
They looked exactly like you down to every scar, mole, tattoo, whatever. Yet, they wore different clothing. A veil of stars with a golden headpiece. They wore white, flowy clothing with details of stars with a cape. They clearly don't seem like the average person. It was sort of weird seeing someone that looked identical to you in such... expensive clothing.
"Hello, (Name)." Their voice echoed. It sounded soothing, enough for the tension in your shoulders to let go and cause them to drop. They sat down on a moon-like structure, floating it closer to you.
You felt breathless as if you were completely in awe. Your lips moved in an effort to speak. "H... hello. Who are you?"
They raise their hand to their heart, the ends of their lips curving upwards. "I am the Creator, a divine one so to speak, I am in charge of this system." Putting their hand back down onto their lap, they begin to explain.
"This world, Genshin as you like to call it, is more than just a game despite working like a game. It is a world. I control the system behind it. However, something... unexpected happened - the travelers. I did allow them to travel into my world, but I didn't expect them to lose their powers. However, it was like they had changed, personality-wise.
You were behind it, weren't you?"
You blinked a few times out of confusion, barely absorbing any of the information given to you. It made you feel dizzy.
"The traveler only had one goal, to find their sibling. Yet, they had saved nations, protected people, became a hero, and possibly got attached to Teyvat. It had to be some other being controlling them to help out so much, I don't believe they would have such a sudden... change of heart."
A gust of wind caught you before you fell. You didn't know how to respond to this deity's queries.
"It was you, right? Wasn't it?"
You stood up again, somehow regaining your balance. "Yeah. It was me." It was better to be honest, you had no idea what this... being would do to you. You shivered as their hand hovered over your shoulder, their skin felt icy cold.
"That's a relief."
Your face twisted into confusion? What? Weren't they going to like... delete you? Or what, throw you out of Teyvat? (You would honestly hope for the latter to happen)
"With your work, Teyvat has been more lively and interesting than usual. The people have advanced and changed with your interference and actions. I'm... honestly grateful.
When you first arrived as the traveler, I allowed Amber, Kaeya, and Lisa to be in your control for some time. Whilst there were some... unfortunate accidents happening, I erased their memories of your... miscalculations. You did not seem to have bad intent and you made the characters stronger and formed bonds with them. I did not sense any ill intent."
The deity reaches out their hand to you.
"How about we make an agreement? You continue with these events in your own body and I will protect you from danger. You will advance this world into a better future and you will enjoy this world to the fullest." The deity persuades you.
Despite her tempting tone and the appeal of the offer, you shake your head. "I'm sorry. I have family and friends at home that I can't just... leave behind."
"Family and friends huh?" A frown appears on their face. You're not sure if it's only because you rejecting their offer.
The deity shakes their head in dismay. "I'm sorry to tell you, but you have no way of returning back to your home, at least from what I'm aware of. There are barely any files about you to delete or transfer in this world, you are stuck here."
They continue,
"Even if there were any files of you to make use of, your world probably doesn't work like a game, so there's no way I can transfer or change anything."
It seems like you have no other choice. You can't completely trust this deity, but they still did make an attractive proposal. "How will you protect me?"
The Deity smirks. "You'll pretend to be me. You'll be the creator that's behind it all. The mastermind. The higher power. Most of the characters will be at your service. I'll try to edit the remaining files about you to change your blood color to gold so that they'll believe you. I'll talk to you through the blue screen."
"Why can't you go down and help yourself?"
"I have my hands full with operating the system. Regenerating monsters and bosses, offering treasures to those who pass the domains, and more."
"Then, what happens if the characters still don't believe me?"
"Oh, they will. Don't worry a thing about it at all. So, what do you say? Do we have a deal?" The Deity reaches out their hand to you.
You don't really have much to lose, as long as this deity keeps its promise. You shake their hand. "Deal."

Ooh, the full everlasting trio with kiss 29 or 21?
~ 21. "we'll face this together" kisses ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sam figured there'd be some tears shed on the day of Danny's coronation.
She just hadn't been expecting them to be Danny's tears.
It was only the three of them in the wing, waiting for Danny's cue to enter the throne room. His crying had been so quiet at first, it had taken her and Tucker a long time to notice. Too long, in her opinion.
"Whoa, whoa," Tucker said. They were by Danny's side in an instant. "What happened? Are you okay?"
Danny sniffled and wiped a tear away. "I'm fine," he mumbled. "Don't... just don't worry about me."
"Fat chance, ghost boy." Sam grabbed his hand. "It's your coronation, you should be, like, over the moon."
"I am!"
The look she and Tucker gave him communicated their clear disbelief.
"Seriously, D. Just talk to us." Tucker grabbed his other hand. "Whatever it is, I'm sure it's okay."
Danny took a deep, shaky breath. Silent tears still ran down his face. "It's nothing, I swear. Just... I'm being stupid. It's not a huge deal."
"If it's a huge deal to you, then it's a huge deal to us."
"And don't," Sam said, cutting off Danny as he opened his mouth to retort, "go apologizing for making us worry or whatever nonsense. We love you, of course we're gonna worry about you. Deal with it."
That earned them a weak smile from the soon-to-be king. "I was gonna say I don't want to make it a huge deal..."
She and Tucker exchanged a glance. True, they couldn't read each other's minds, nor could they read Danny's, but many years of friendship and now more equipped them with the experience necessary to deduce what he was on about.
Sam smiled, soft and gentle, and leaned in. Tucker did the same. They planted simultaneous, feather-light kisses on either corner of his cheek. When they pulled away, he stared at them with wide green eyes.
"What was that for?" She didn't think she'd ever get over how cute his look of confusion was every time.
"You're not gonna do this alone, you dork," she said, delivering a playful punch to his arms.
"We'll walk right up there with you, and if those stuffy eyeballs get mad about it, you can just tell them off. You're gonna be in charge after all," Tucker added with a cheeky grin.
Danny laughed, albeit hollowly. He looked back and forth between the two of them. "I just don't know..."
"And you don't have to. That's why we're gonna be right there by you, no matter what. So you'll always have someone to fall back on."
The corners of his lips twitched upward.
"Your Highness? They're ready for you."
Danny breathed in again. "You guys promise?" he asked in a hoarse whisper, squeezing their hands.
Sam squeezed his hand right back. Somehow, she knew Tucker did too. "Of course. Not that I can talk for Tucker, but of course I promise. With all my heart."
"And mine too!"
"... Okay." He exhaled, blowing bangs out of his eyes. "Okay. Yeah. I've got this."
Tucker made a buzzer sound. "Nope. Try again."
That finally got a true smile out of Danny. "Fine, whatever," he said with a playful roll of his eyes. "We've got this."
They entered the throne room. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ~ Send me a ship and a number from this ask game and I'll write a blurb or draw a sketch!

it's 5 am so I might as well start huffing copium in public
what is going through my head is the difficulty of doing a reboot. for all that fma: brotherhood is praised, the first batch of episodes that tread pretty much identical water to the first anime are actually paced more poorly, comparatively. shou tucker and nina don't hit the same, striking pages from the manga that were recreated in anime form aren't recreated again. not to mention the first episode was anime original and made to foreshadow the different direction the plot is about to go. and i remember at the time being mildly bummed about it (however excited i was to get a manga accurate anime at all - of course i was one of the glasses pushing 'the manga was better' weebs who wanted to see the xingese characters and fort briggs).
but like, i get it. in the grand scheme of the anime, it's a drop in the bucket before episode 15 hits and you realize the plot is going somewhere very different.
when i think of the trigun anime, i have a lot of fond memories of it. it was one of my formative shows growing up, that we shared among our friends group on burned DVDs. but when i think about the story... i don't think about the first half of the series that much. the high stakes of legato and the gung ho guns are that much more striking in my memory compared to the tone-setting shenanigans of random bandits.
and you can't put that back in the bottle. i don't think modern anime can afford to spend 11 episodes without so much as a hint of the bigger bad that the whole series is about, in the same way that we don't have the patience to watch goku charge up for a whole episode. a reboot needs to get to the 'here is the thing that is going to make me different' right from the get go - and trigun stampede does that in the first first shot. it's not a twist, we know this is a sci-fi. they lean into it.
hell the entire art direction of stampede would not be able to hold up the facade of being purely a western until a mid-series pivot reveal of SPACE. even looking at the colour palette of dusty gunsmoke to no man's land, you can tell they're not going for the same thing. it is an investment in where the story is going to go, not a recreation of what exists.
and it's on that train of thought where i pin my hopes on meryl, and the changes that were made that make up the majority of the gripes with stampede. ('all 3d anime is ugly' holdouts have no rights here, they don't count.) meryl has always started in the story from a position of naiveté - but she's an earnest go getter who will throw herself into situations for the sake of her job (reducing damage to mitigate insurance payouts). what i find interesting about the change from her to a journalist, AND her as a junior instead of the senior in a dynamic, is that the room for upward growth has been opened up. having someone to tell her no, don't put yourself at risk, and then she chooses to do it anyway, is a different kind of agency. in a way it mirrors vash where the world tells him no, pacifism is stupid and unrealistic, but he lives by it anyway, to great cost. and there is going to be a breaking of meryl's naiveté, as there always is in this kind of story, but she's going to power on through.
i can only hope that her character trajectory involves derringers. is2g don't let me down, Orange
(all that and i'm still convinced milly will appear eventually as a supporting character. i mean if for no other reason than to give wolfwood a no homo love interest, right.)

Wrapping Up Day 2 Exploring being a Cam Model: Exhausted, Confused, Determined.
I don't think it's every girls dream to be a cam girl but I know it's what I've wanted to do since I was maybe 19? I would dabble in it in my 20s because it excited me so much. I did private shows with people but in the large rooms I got too anxious and would shoot my load. I didn't know how to promote myself and I had trouble understanding the ins and outs of it with the research I could find.
This year I kick started my dead Only Fans I made back in 2020 and have had that running at an upward rate the past few months up to top 15% creators but that's just a lot of promo work to do to be making shitty money and still have to constantly hustle (especially when you're disabled). I still want to continue it, but I wanted to branch off. It felt like the perfect time to explore camming.
I jumped the gun and joined Chaturbate before I even really did any research and got verified. Then I started to do research. lol Classic me. But I did a bunch of research and was like I will stream tomorrow! Then woke up with pink eye. Grrrrreat. Well it gave me more time to research but I think I may of over done it.
Friday came, my eye cleared up, I decided I was going to do my first stream on a Friday night! Using Lovense OBS software on my shitty slow laptop! I spent an hour troubleshooting it all when I realized I just had to restart and not use OBS. Yuuuup. Then I got tricked by a gross guy. I should of trusted my gut. I knew it was wrong to believe him but then he had other people in the chat egging me on that he was right and confusing me. It was really fucking shitty. Dudes like that are disgusting. 🤮 I felt violated and gross but picked myself up and kept going. Everyone complained my list was too high. I lowered prices but they complained it was still too high. Like ffs I'm working here I need to get paid dudes. Finally a really nice couple came in who was a tad drunk and we had a fun time chatting and they tipped me a bit. I made 83 out of 86 of my tokens I made that day from them. I finally got tired of streaming and having dudes be rude and ask me to do things for nothing and not making money while I danced around clothed for hours. I streamed for 5.5 hours.
After I was so mentally and physically exhausted. I felt sad to my soul. I needed a human to cuddle so badly for just love and affection and kindness. At least I had Dexter there who held me all night.
Sunday I decided I was going to stream again. I lowered and changed up my goals and tip menu, put on some sexy Savage x Fenty Pink velvet lingerie and went in feeling very confident I had it today. By an hour and a half in I had to take a break and was so sore and felt awful. A dude throwing single tokens at me telling me to put a butt plug in, I told him my set price to put it in and I would not budge on it and he just left. Then a dude came in and put up a picture of a fake roulette wheel and made it say you spun *naked* and try to trick me into getting naked. I was like boy I haven't even set up a single game in my room. I went for a break and felt like I couldn't go back and just had to go to bed. But I just kept waiting for Tylenol to kick in. It finally did! I was able to get back in and it got better! Lots of super sweet and kind people. Lots who loved my soft belly. Tippers who enjoyed my tip menu items! Some random wise person giving me anonymous 1 token tips with pieces of advice for me. Like charge for PMs, raise my prices, check out other models, and gave me an exact model to check out too for helpful tips. I did have one more person come in try to trick me but I've caught on quick and told them nope. I've learned to stand my ground well now too!
It was an exhausting night! I danced around and shook my booty sooo much tonight streaming from 11pm to 5 am. I'm still confused but very determined to keep doing this and getting better! I'm gonna be the best cam girl I can be. 😜💕

I had thoughts about the acotar fandom and fandom etiquette and I'm not sorry.
I genuinely wonder if people wandered into the acotar fandom last year, after having read acosf, and didn't understand what corner of the internet they ended up in. Fandom is inherently very queer, in the broadest sense of the word. In the Judith Butler sense. Not just that there are gays everywhere, but there are disabled and neurodivergent and minoritized identities. We are here looking for more from canon, not just reinforcement that what we thought about canon was right. Fandom has existed for a long time to give stories to people who never saw themselves in the story, or who felt constricted by the mainstream, who felt like there wasn't a place for them in the media they consumed.
So when I see the acotar fandom being snide about "crackships" - though that's not an insult, it's just a description of how likely the pairing is in canon - and when I see the acotar fandom acting like shipping is a political stance/social justice cause, or when I see this fandom not understanding that you can ship things that have not been confirmed on the page, I have to wonder - where do these people think they are???
The most important thing about fandom imo is that there are no rules other than the number 1 rule: you are in control of your experience. That means that you block tags, or people, or follow tags, or people, or create, or consume, or whatever it is you want, but you cannot try to force your version of fandom on anyone else. If you don't like how someone else is engaging in the fandom, you block them and move on. It's that simple. There is no such thing as fandom police, it's every person for themselves. If you personally cannot stand the idea of Elain and Mor, then block that tag. If you really feel incredibly strongly about it, then block the people who use that tag. It's super simple, and it's been fandom practice for... literally decades now.
The acotar fandom has actually made this rule quite difficult in the past year because, for example, I have blocked upwards of 150 people on tumblr, and yet I know that some of those people continue to stalk my blog and make posts vaguing me. I've made my boundaries clear, those boundaries have been disrespected, and I know I am not the only one who experiences this. At least two times, people have taken me blocking them as a "challenge" to still try to interact with me despite the block. Thus far, my choices are to either attack those people head on, or act like they don't exist. I quite like pretending that they don't exist because those people are a waste of my time. However, I am not the only person they do this to and I know that turning the other cheek isn't that easy all the time, especially when certain people are so aggressive about being assholes.
The fact that people get mad at other users blocking them, that just baffles me. Again, blocking people is a time-honored and necessary tradition in fandom. You do not have to scroll through content you don't want, and having a presence in the fandom doesn't mean you have to allow all people access to your content! "This person blocked a bunch of us so we can't interact!" Yes, well, that's the point! They have drawn a line in the sandbox, you are not entitled to interact with whomever you want, and you should definitely respect the fact that someone has, for literally whatever reason they want, decided that they don't want to interact with you. The audacity of people getting mad about being blocked - is that harming you, somehow? Is that preventing you from screaming whatever you want to scream on your own blog? No? So what's the problem, exactly?
no 👏 one 👏 here 👏 owes 👏 you 👏 anything 👏
Disrespecting people's right to ship or headcanon or imagine whatever the fuck they want is another way that this rule continues to be violated. People are allowed to dislike/like whatever they want. Again, this is all about the only rule, you are in charge of your experience. Shaming people for what they like - whether it's a fluffy crackship or an abusive rarepair - is not okay. If you don't like something, then it's on you to block the content. It's not on you to show people the "error" of their ways because that's literally the opposite of why we are here!
It is not okay to tell other people how to exist in the fandom, and this moralistic high ground that people are taking in order to justify their shaming of other people is especially not it. That's the exact rationale that people are now using to say that in certain schools in the U.S., the idea of queer people existing is verboten. Why, oh why, do people think it's okay to come into one of the queerest space on the internet, and start throwing around morality-based arguments, when those types of morality-based argument are being used IRL to silence us??? Because people ended up in fandom and had no idea where they were (and apparently, still don't).
We exist in fandom (in part) because we already feel like there isn't a place for us in the mainstream. We are not going to allow a bunch of people who are so stuck up their ass in heteronormativity and whiteness and canon, to tell us what we can and cannot ship in fandom, a space that was historically made by and for queer people.
Example: if you don't like a specific ship, then you block that tag. The end. Maybe you talk about why you, personally, are not into it. We all have squicks. but you do not shame people for liking it, or try to tell them how and why it's bad that they like it. There is a HUGE difference between saying "here is why I don't like this" and saying "no one should ever like this!"
Fandom has etiquette, including tagging things appropriately, but the flip side of that is the understanding that tagging is a privilege, not a right. Fandom functions on the assumption that we are each looking out for one another by tagging content appropriately, but the second part of that assumption is that we do not tell one another what to do - if someone breaks rule number 1, then you decide if that bothers you or not. You cannot force them to comply, but you can block their ass. This is only tangentially related, but still relevant. It's still part of the whole "you are in control of your own experience" rule that we all live by.
I guess the whole point of this is to say: live and let live, y'all.
If someone draws a boundary, respect that.
Learn how to draw your own boundaries.
Stop being so freaking stuck on canon because that is not why we are here.
And have a gay gay gay gay day.

Stay Peachy: Kwamibuster
Summary: With Ladybug out of commission Chat Noir is the only one who can stop Kwamibuster... If only everyone would just work with him here!
---------------------------------
"Let me get this straight. Tikki's captured. Ladybug's powerless and captured, I was this close to losing you too but you won't tell me where Master Fu is? Am I missing anything?" Adrien asked Plagg.
Plagg twitched nervously. "But- but-"
"You have five seconds to give me a good alternative or we're going to see Fu," Adrien announced.
"You could distract Kwamibuster while Ladybug escapes!" Plagg tried.
Adrien crossed his arms and glared. "I said a good alternative! You getting caught isn't good for anyone!"
"Might be good for Ladybug?" Plagg shrugged his arms and gave his most convincing grin.
"Sure! I'll just hand Papillon the other kwami he needs while I have to use a banana suit to protect my identity or something!" Adrien replied sarcastically.
"You'd love that wouldn't you." Plagg knew Adrien. There was a good chance-
The sound of a door being blown off it's hinges echoed down the hallway as Kwamibuster started searching the floor they were on. "Where are you, little cat? I already have a ladybug for my insect collection. Now I just need a small mammal!"
Plagg gave his best kitty cat eyes.
Adrien didn't budge.
Plagg's arms drooped. "Okay, okay! Let's just get outa here first!"
"Knew you'd see things my way." Adrien smirked.
---------------
Master Fu was having a nice, calming, afternoon tea with Wayzz when there was an insistent banging at his door. Wayzz hiding at the sound.
The Guardian sighed. "Who could that be?"
The banging got louder.
"Patience! I am coming! What's the big-"
A blond headed blur shot in and slammed the door shut.
"So this is where you live. Nice place ya got here. Ladybug's in trouble and I need more Miraculous!" Adrien's words tumbling out in a rush as his heartbeat jumped up his throat. Maybe I should have used the window.
"Chat Noir!?" Fu's eyes nearly popping out of his head in surprise.
"Sorry, Master." Plagg appeared, uncharacteristically serious, ears low. "It was an emergency."
"Plagg!?" This was unprecedented! Yes, the Kwami of Destruction was the most free spirited of those in the Miracle Box. But even he knew the importance of secrecy! "What are you doing-"
"Ladybug's in trouble! I just said that!" Adrien supposed he could have worded it better... But also: Ladybug was in trouble! And he was in a hurry!
The Guardian glanced from boy to kwami. Who nodded. "Very well," Fu conceded. Going to the gramophone and entering the code. Bringing out the Miracle Box which he set in its usual place when Marinette came. "Adrien Agreste, choose an ally to help you on this mission. Remember that they mist return the Miraculous once the mission is complete."
Adrien stared as the Miracle Box opened. Kneeling down in imitation of the Guardian's pose. He hadn't known there were so many Miraculous! One of them surely had the power to help! Only...
"What is it Chat Noir?"
Adrien looked up at Master Fu's face. "I dunno what most of these do."
The Guardian sighed. "This is exactly why it should be Ladybug who chooses the temporary hero."
"Hey, it's not my fault you decided she was the only one who could know things!" So this is what being Chat Noir without the mask felt like. "I'm-" Adrien paused as a thought hit him. "Oh. Oh!"
"... Yes?" Master Fu prompted.
"I just realized how dumb it is that I'm not supposed to know the temporary heroes secret identities."
Fu blinked. "Excuse me?"
Adrien shook his head to get his thought process back on track. "Anyway!"
"Chat Noir, what did you mean by-"
"No time!" Adrien pointed at the Miraculous. "Teach!"
Grumbling something about manners Fu acquiesced.
Skipping over the ones Adrien already knew the Guardian quickly ran down the list. The Pig could show you your deepest desire? Seemed like it'd be a good distraction. The Dragon had how many abilities!? Overpowered but okay. The Mouse could make little copies of you. Heh, that sounded adorable but-
"That's it!" Adrien interrupted Fu to grab the Fox and Mouse Miraculous. Which he promptly put on.
"What are you doing!?" The Guardian exclaimed. "No holder has ever used three Miraculous before! It's too dangerous!"
"Well, I don't know who Rena Rouge is and I'm not gonna spend any more time looking!" Adrien turned to the materializing Fox and Mouse kwamis. "Sorry, we're in a bit of a hurry."
"Oh, aren't we always? Name's Trixx."
"Mullo!"
"Alright. Mullo, transforme-moi!"
Multimouse took a moment to adjust to the unfamiliar magic of his new suit.
"I really don't think this is the best course of action," Fu said, attempting to dissuade the young boy.
"Relax, Master! I'll keep him out of trouble!" Trixx announced.
Multimouse nodded as he opened a window. "Thanks. Now, c'mon Trixx, Plagg. I'll explain the plan on the way!" So saying, he launched himself skyward.
Wayzz finally emerged from his hiding place, floating towards his holder.
Fu looked at his kwami. "Oh, I hope he doesn't collapse on the way."
---------------
"True or false? Ladybug has disguised herself as Mr. Banana!"
Marinette was not having a good day. First, Chat Noir's kwami almost reveals her identity. Then, Tikki got captured! And now that tomcat was nowhere in sight. Marinette had barely escaped from Kwamibuster the first time and now she was cornered mere meters from the exit!
"Uh, stay peachy?!" Marinette ran for it.
But Kwamibuster leapt over her and grabbed her wrist. "You can't get away from me!"
"CHARGE!"
From the doorway came a whole swarm of kwamis! Flitting about Kwamibuster and distracting her enough for Marinette to get away.
"You can't get away from me!" Kwamibuster chased after them as they sped off. "You're no match for Kwamibuster!"
"Ladybug!"
Turning around, Marinette saw Plagg and a little guy holding onto his ears. She blinked, this was the first time she saw the Mouse Miraculous in action.
"It's me!" he declared, grinning. "Chat Noir! Or Multimouse, I guess."
"Chat Noir!?" But that meant- No, no, she could panic about that later. "Well, then you must need my Miraculous." Marinette reached for her earrings.
"Uh, no? Why would you think that?"
"Because... Nevermind. What's the plan?"
Multimouse winked. "You'll see. Make your way back to the roof!" And zipped away before Ladybug could ask more questions.
"... A Chat Noir plan. This oughta be interesting."
---------------
"I will capture you all!"
Kwamibuster laughed maniacally as she shot her beam at the Plagg reskins. Made by Multifox with his Mirage. And that wasn't the only part of the illusion.
"I have to say. I think Ladybug will be impressed," Plagg stated. Floating directly above the supervillain so she would need to crane her neck straight up to spot them.
"It has to work first," Multimouse replied. Still standing on top of Plagg's head. His small army made their way into position.
Now!
Multimouse's invisible doubles launched their indestructible ropes at Kwamibuster. Becoming visible as they wrapped her up like Gulliver on Lilliput.
"What!? What's going on!? Oof!" She toppled none too gently.
Wasting no time Plagg zipped down.
"No! You can't beat Kwamibuster!" She freed her blaster hand.
"Mullo, Plagg, unify!"
"Aha!" Twisting upwards she aimed the beam at Multimouse.
"Cataclysm!"
Adrien's power touched the tip of her barrel and the rust spread from it to her pack. Freeing Tikki as dark mist transformed Kwamibuster back into Mme. Mendeleiev.
Adrien merged himself back together as the akuma flew past him. "Uh, Ladybug!"
A red blur shot out and caught the akuma before it could get far. Ladybug releasing a white butterfly in its place.
Multimouse grinned. "Perfect timing as always, My Lady."
"I dunno about that." Ladybug looked around at the destroyed rooftop.
"You think it'll work without a Lucky Charm?" Multimouse asked, following her train of thought.
Ladybug looked at her yo-yo. "The akuma was purified so it should." Throwing it skyward with a little more strength than usual she called out the words. "Miraculous Ladybug!"
The cure swept around them as Ladybug's yo-yo fell back into her hands.
"Knew you could do it," Multimouse praised. "Now, I've got some errands to run-" he tapped the two Miraculous necklaces "-so you take care of Mme. Mendeleiev."
He half turned. "Oh! And sorry about my kwami. No idea what he was doing at that primary school."
"It was a- lycée, yeah. Lycée."
"Right!" He grinned. "A lycée." Totally not a collège. Giving Ladybug a two finger salute he leapt off the tower. Mme. Mendeleiev's insistence on the validity of her scientific discovery fading behind him.
---------------
Adrien held out his index finger to shake the kwamis' hands. "You were both a big help! Thanks."
"You weren't so bad yourself, Chat Noir," Trixx grinned.
"Yeah!" Mullo agreed. "Usually Plagg's holders are no fun but you ran circles around that kwami snatcher!"
Adrien blushed a little at their praise. "Hope we can work together again someday." The kwamis waved as they reentered their Miraculous.
Master Fu closed the Miracle Box once Adrien placed them back inside. Returning it to its hiding place. "It is quite impressive that you withstood the power of three Miraculous long enough to accomplish your task."
"... Actually it was super easy. Barely an inconvenience."
The Guardian blinked. "What?"
Adrien nodded. "Yeah, I don't think occasionally using two or three Miraculous at once is all that dangerous. Maybe if you wore a whole bunch of 'em. But why would you do that?"
Fu processed that for a bit.
Adrien sipped from his tea, awkwardly. "... So does this mean I finally get Guardian training?"
Master Fu nearly slipped as he sat back down. "Huh?"
"I mean, I already know where you are. And we've seen that if Ladybug is compromised it's better if I know what to do," Adrien reasoned out logically.
"I... That is... Uh..." Fu looked desperately at Plagg, who was gorging himself on cheese.
"Hey, don't look at me. Kid's got a point." Plagg swallowed another wedge of Camembert.
Fu slumped with a sigh. Clearly outmaneuvered. "Where should we start?"
"Potions!" Adrien exclaimed, eyes sparkling. This was going to be fun. He could feel it!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What do you say,
What if I ruled the world?
“Now, you may rise, Your Majesty, Queen Y/N”, the priest announces and you rise from your knees, the diamond crown resting proud but heavy on your head. You walk towards the balcony of the castle and look down, where the rest of the civilians awaited for you. You were their Queen now, the one who would guide them through thick and thin, especially after your beloved husband’s death, the late King Kun.
“All hail the Queen!”, the crowd chants as you raise your hand and wave, the beaming smile on your face acting as a facade, masking your true feelings - uncertainty, sorrow and most importantly, fear.
Fear, because you trusted no one in the council. They never liked you in the first place, not only because you were the late King’s wife, but because you were also a very skilled fighter, one of your most valuable assets, hence why you were the Grand General of your kingdom before getting married to Kun.
These weasels hated seeing a woman in power, simply because they wanted that power for themselves. But none of them had the guts to step up and claim the crown. They only knew how to scheme, bribe and conduct murders without ever getting blood on their hands.
There was only one person you could trust, the only one who truly recognized your strength and dedication to the crown - Prince Xiaojun, Kun’s brother and your brother-in-law. He was the only one who welcomed you with a warm smile and would always be respectful towards you. Everyone in the kingdom knew of his gentle nature and the civilians were always delighted to see the two of you take walks through the town. He treated you like family. And family is always there for you, just like Xiaojun today. You turn your head back and smile at him, an equal smile spreading across his handsome face. However, by the time you have turned your head back, his smile is instantly replaced by a clenched jaw and a stern gaze, burning with hatred and jealousy.
Nobody knows
It means nothing to me
Xiaojun enters the throne room, fully-armored, his sword sheathed on his back and his hunting knives strapped on his sides. You were seated in the throne, your white cape falling gracefully around you, the diamond crown and your silver chest armor shining from the sunlight that is creeping through the colored glass windows. Your image is a sheer contrast to Xiaojun’s, his armor being pitch-black, almost resembling an angel of Death.
“Ah, Xiaojun, what a delight to see you!” you state, smiling to him. “I haven’t seen you wear this armor in a long time. May I ask what’s the occasion?” you ask with curiosity. “I have decided to go hunting” he replies nonchalantly and you smile even wider, unaware of the true meaning behind his words. “That’s wonderful! Perhaps I could join you? I’ve been dying to leave the castle gates and get my blood boiling through some action” you slightly pout, albeitly tired from sitting around and letting your armor and sword get rusty.
He chuckles at your reaction and he unsheathes one of the daggers from his arm and traces his finger along the edge of the blade. “I will not have to leave the castle to go hunting… In fact, my prey is right in this very castle” he states and takes slow yet steady steps towards your direction. “I-I don’t think I follow..” you stutter, fear starting to take over your senses. “What I am trying to say, dear Y/N, is that my true prey is not just within this castle - It’s right in front of me”. The realization then hits you.
It’s invisible but you know it’s mine
So where do you see yourself?
“You want the throne?”, you ask in shock, not wanting to believe that the one person you trusted ever since you stepped your foot in the castle was the one who wanted your fall. “I don’t want just the throne. I want the power that comes along with it”, Xiaojun admits, his ominous gaze fixated on you. The imminent danger awakes you and you yell with all your power towards the throne door.
“GUARDS!” and within seconds, your two strongest guards barge through the throne room, clad in heavy armor. “Prince Xiaojun has attempted murder against the Queen and is hereby guilty of commiting betrayal to the Crown. Seize him at once!” you yell and the guards point their weapons towards Xiaojun, who has seemingly raised his arms in surrender. “The accusations Her Majesty has made against me are completely false!”, he bites back, “Besides, I haven’t attempted murder..”, he adds and silently pulls out another dagger from his sleeve, “..Yet”.
In a split second, he throws the daggers towards the guards and he hits them both in the blind spot of their armor, their cloth-covered necks, the sharp blades of the dagger cutting through the flesh. The guards are now flat on the marble floor, their lives slowly slipping away from their bodies that lay in blood. After recovering his daggers from the dead bodies, Xiaojun hears the familiar sound of a blade being unsheathed. He turns to you and he sees you holding your sword, your cape discarded on the floor, standing a few meters away from him.
“Finally, the queen has stepped down from her throne!” he spits, his voice dripping venom. "The Queen has a crown and she will do everything to protect it. Even if it means killing the prince", you prepare yourself and get into a fighting stance. "How ironic, to share the same goal at a moment like this", Xiaojun points out and unsheathes the sword from his back, "It's a shame you won't be alive to witness my success".
I am running for the crown
I keep breathing when you drown
You charge at Xiaojun with full speed, your sword in a secure hold. He throws a dagger at you to cut off your advance, but you duck down in the last second and you avoid it, closing the distance between you in the meantime. You fling your sword upwards, in an attempt to cut through his waist armor, but he is fast enough to parry your attack with his own sword. "You're fast, I'll give you that. But not fast enough", he mocks and pulls another dagger from his thigh, landing a deep cut on your forearm, making you cry out in pain.
The blood is staining your pristine blouse, but you don't care - you only want to stay alive in order to defeat Xiaojun. You kick his knee with full force and he groans, falling on his knees. "You know better than underestimating my skills, Xiaojun", you hatefully spit back and get up. You switch your blade to your intact arm and swing it towards his face, but he raises his arm and catches the blade mid-air. "I don't - I'm just reminding you how inferior your skills are compared to mine" he replies and holds the blade still, his fist now bleeding from the sharp edge. "You haven't even landed a proper cut on me, yet your arm is still bleeding from a mere dagger", he continues and stands on his feet, twisting his arm and the blade as well.
You grit your teeth as you fight back the pain from your own arm being twisted and you lift your leg to kick him in the face, but alas, he's fast enough to swing his sword again and land another cut on you, this time on your leg. You feel the muscle joints being ripped apart and you scream once again, the blood gushing from the fresh wound. Xiaojun takes advantage of your vulnerable state and pulls the sword out of your grasp and throws it at the other side of the throne room. He then kicks you on the chest and you fall flat on your back, the diamond crown falling from your head. You try to stand your ground, but Xiaojun immobilizes you with his own body.
"It's truly a pity, Y/N. We could have been the most powerful and loved royals in the world… But you just had to fall in love with the fool of my late brother, didn't you?", he asks and caresses your cheek, the pretentious affection making you scrunch your face with disgust. "You will never be like Kun, you monster" you grit your teeth with anger, "Do you know why? Because he was always faithful to the people. Because the people are the true crown-"
You never get to finish your sentence, as a dagger is piercing your throat, ridding you incapable of breathing. The stream of blood starts pooling around your spasming body, staining the marble floor, your clothes and the diamond crown that lays next to your head.
I believe myself no doubt
Xiaojun watches your last moments with a blank expression on his face, still on top of you. "Ironic, isn't it? The King and his Queen, dying by the same hand, clad in the same armor. Truly, the most perfect of tragic endings". You are unable to answer, the last of his words dealing the finishing blow to your form. You have stopped moving and a single tear falls from his face. "Even in death, you are still the most beautiful woman I've seen in my whole life, Y/N" he whispers and leans in to kiss your now lifeless lips. "Worry not, my love, you may meet your beloved husband now. The crown is in good hands".
He stands up and takes the blood-stained crown in his hands. He places it on top of his head, the blood dripping on his soft blonde locks. He slowly walks towards the throne, the edge of his sword scraping the marble floor and creating a line from the blood on it - your blood. He looks at the painting that rests above the throne, a painting of you and King Kun smiling fondly, wearing the same crown that now rests on Xiaojun's head.
"You know, both of you were wrong. I never betrayed the crown. In fact, I was the only one who did everything to protect it", he speaks as he sits down on the throne, "And I succeeded, my beloved family. All thanks to you. You may now rest in peace", Xiaojun says with a soft smile on his face, making him look like an angel.
An angel of Death.
Fifth Day of Christmas...
Trope: Snowed in (NSFW) Relationship: Goliath x Human Word Count: 7,808
Tumblr media
Swords clash in a symphony within the Mid-lands woods. The Goliaths have come from the mountains to ambush our camp. We never assumed we wouldn't be safe, especially with winter coming. Who would have guessed the Goliaths would be so bold as to challenge an incoming blizzard just to slaughter a few of us. It's truly too bold, too stupid.
I look out at the cluster of people, the Goliaths standing high. It's clear we have the number advantage, but they have strength. Men and women surround a single giant just to be beaten away with a single blow. It's ridiculous. The cold bites at my lungs as I charge into battle, joining two others attempting to befall the seven-foot man.
Together we swipe and swing at the revolting beast, aiming low in hopes of knocking him down. One soldier gets a jab in as the goliath blocks a blow from another. We both take the chance to cut at the knees. The goliath falls to a kneel, growling in frustration before swinging wide and knocking the other two away. I manage to stumble back into the cold dirt. Attempting to get back to my feet I see the goliath has beaten me to it, standing above the two fallen soldiers with a triumphed sneer. He reels back, aiming for the closest one. With a fatal swoop, he befalls the first one, spilling their blood to the dirt below.
I can't be shocked anymore, the sight an unforgettable one. It's almost numbing now. I quickly stand, gripping my sword in a harsh grip. The goliath reels his arm back for another blow to the woman at his feet. Working on pure adrenaline I launch at him, digging my shoulder into the wound on his side. The goliath cries out, pushing me aside as he cradles the bleeding wound. I don't let him get an edge, doing what I can to get him away from the injured soldier still laying at his feet. Stomping towards him I kick my leg high, digging my booted heel into the cut on the back of his knee. He falls to a kneel once more.
"You petulant worm," he snarls, reaching out for me. I try to step back, failing as he grabs my heel. He drags me towards him, standing to dangle me headfirst above the ground. My sword falls from my grip, hitting the dirt with a soft thud. I can't pay it any mind as this behemoth pulls me higher in the air. Not bothering to think I do the first thing I can. The wound on his side catches my attention. I drag my fist bag, launching it towards his side for a quick jab.
He wails again, dropping me harshly to the floor. My shoulder pops as the dirt gives no resistance. I watch the man stumble, breathing heavily as he clenches his side. Our eyes meet for just a moment, a few flurries dancing between us. I don't take the time to listen to whatever hateful words he wishes to spit my way. I can see the bloodlust and fury in his eyes, I am his sole target now and nothing is going to stop him.
I shuffle off the floor quickly, trying to look for my sword before the man can react. He swings for me, growling like a beast as he does. I stumble back, still having no sight of my sword. At his next attempt at my life, I give up the search. Knowing the losing battle before me I do what a soldier should never do. I run.
Twisting away I book it away from the fight, running through the tree with the cold air stabbing at my lungs. A voice screams 'coward' in my head but my will to live is stronger. I hear mighty footsteps follow me, calling out with grotesque promises. I don't make it far till I'm knocked on my stomach, my shoulder throbbing with the impact and weight. I'm twisted to my back, the man hovering above with a sadistic grin and sneer of pain. I can feel his blood dripping onto my clothes, the only warmth to be found in these woods.
"I have you now," he grabs at my throat," such a poltroon to run from battle." his fingers dig into my neck, choking me easily. I scratch at his arm, pry at his finger, reach for his face. Nothing works, the corners of my eyes darkening. With a last-ditch effort, I writhe and kick, aiming for anything to get some leverage. I don't want to die, please don't let me die here alone.
I kick at his hip, him wincing a bit. With that last bit of focus, I jab the toe of my boot into his side, blessing the fallen soldier for the well-aimed wound. He barks out a cry of pain, his fingers loosening enough for me to take a greedy gulp of biting air. I kick again, screaming a war cry as I push him off. It's a feat in its self to get him off.
I roll onto all fours, breathing hard to get the black dots out of my vision. Coughing while he wheezes, it's the only moment we have. Getting to my feet first I look over to him, he's kneeling by a decline. I take a few wobbly steps towards him, exhausted at this point. He looks up to me, trying to get to his feet with an angry growl. I'm surprised he makes it, walking on equally uneasy legs.
"I'm going to enjoy spilling your blood, little human," he seethes," it has become my right."
"Shut up," I pant.
With the last bit of energy, I have I run to him. I thud against his stomach, grab at his knees, and dig my nails into his still bleeding wound. He falls back, taking me with him. His back takes the brunt of our weight, me being launched off as he tumbles backward. We roll and skip down the steep incline of the hill, hitting every rock, root, and tree to be found. My shoulder aches as do other parts of my body. As my head meets a rather pointed rock do I wish for death.
A groan breaks through my haze. I open my eyes, looking up to trees and fat snowdrops. A few land on my lashes, my eyes flickering shut. I feel like shit. My body is throbbing, my view rather fuzzy, and my fingers numb. Another groan catches my attention, coming from above me. I tilt my head back, looking at the man trying to sit up. I startle at the blue marking curling down his bald head. My stomach lurches as I launch upwards, barely getting to my feet with the small amount of energy I have left. I know once I'm somewhere safe I'll be down for the count.
"Worms, all of you," the man whimpers," bested by a worm, me?" I watch him pathetically try to move. He looks worse than I feel, his side leaking life into the frosty debris below. The wound has grown since I last remember, stretching over his stomach. He tries to sit up, clenching his hands in the dirt, and seething every attempt.
He finally just lays there, looking at me with such disgust. I nearly feel nothing at the sight, just numb to this whole experience. He will die soon, bleeding out or freezing from the elements. I may do just the same, looking to the unclimbable incline and empty woods. Perhaps I could be so lucky to find shelter somewhere, a journey that may cost me much. I sigh.
"retched, the lot of you," he spits," may the gods damn you to the foulest parts of hell. To have your inners stood across miles. Be cursed for what you have done to me today!" it's almost sad to watch him like this. The final words of a dying man.
"Shut up," I look around some more. My best bet is to just start walking, look for some shelter. If the gods could bless me today. I start walking. The man curses and snarls at me, shouting his last bit of distraught like a pathetic animal. I walk on.
It isn't long until I come across a cabin, boarded up for the winter. It's promising. I walk up to the nailed in planks, reaching out to attempt to pry them. My shoulder screams in protest, as I do I. cradling my arm I look to the door. I can't get in. I look to the windows, they too are boarded. This close to shelter and I'm left to perish.
In the distance, I can still hear the shouts of the stubborn man. Surely he was to die by now. I shake my head, admiring his strength even in death. Thinking of a plan I circling the building, finding nothing but stacks of firewood resting against the side.
"Bollocks," I grumble. I'm not strong enough to get in…but someone else might.
I snap my head in the direction of the insolent man. Could he help me get in? no, he is too wounded. But if I treat said wounds, maybe he could be of some use? Would he be strong enough though? I cry out in frustration. It seems it's the only chance I have. Why not spend my last few hours with an enemy?
I hobble back towards the hill, hearing the man before spotting him. He is left exactly where he started. It seems he hasn't tried to make any progress. His head snaps to me, baring his teeth as I near.
"Come to finish me off, human," he barks.
"If I help you, do you think you can pry out some nailed boards before we freeze to death," I ask, not bothering to waste any time. He scoffs, turning away.
"Why should I accept help from you? Do I offer my assistance just for you to stab me in the back the first chance you get," he asks, sounding awfully stupid. I'll let myself think it’s the lack of blood causing his idiotic suggestion.
"Wouldn't you rather take that than dying in the dirt like a forgotten man," I ask, shivering as a breeze flows by.
"I rather die with my honor than betray my kind to help you," he barks a laugh," I'm faithful to my people unlike you, you poltroon scum-."
"Shut up," I interrupt," pride on the shelf, help or don’t?"
He glares at me, fingers clenching and unclenching at his side. The offering was rather nice in my opinion, even if the lack of trust is there. For now, I need him and he needs me, let's not make it more complicated than that.
"Fine," he grunts," if you can help then so will I."
I don't bother with words, collapsing to my knee with a wince beside him. The minimal supplies I have attached to my person is unceremoniously dropped to the ground. I don't bother cleaning his wound, taking a small amount of time to wrap it instead. He groans and whimpers like a child, nearly reaching for me to stop. I ignore him, stuffing wrapped bandages against his side before covering it all with wrapping. I hope the pressure is enough to forgo any more blood loss on the way to the cabin. I just need him strong enough to pull some wood, nothing more.
I'm little to no help getting him off the ground. I try to tug him up with my good arm but the jostling runs to the other anyway. He manages mostly on his own to get up, standing on his own two feet. His hand covers his side and he stumbles onward.
We walk like a bunch of drunks towards the cabin, nearly collapsing as we stop at the door. I watch as he easily pries the boards off the door, ripping them off as easily as ripping paper. With the wood cast aside, he opens the door and walks in. I follow after, annoyed at the equally cold interior.
"I'm going to get a fire started, you can rest for a bit. You have done enough," I say as I rub at my arms. I look around the room, spotting the heath with stacks of wood on the side. Before I can even take a step there I heard a loud thud. I jump, looking towards the goliath in fear. To my surprise he isn't standing, having collapsed on the ground.
I sigh," I thank you for your help but if you die in the middle of the room I'm going to be pissed."
That night was the longest in my life. Nearly getting killed in battle, then nearly dying from exposure, and now trying to start a fire with a broken shoulder. Hauling the wood was a challenge in itself, now trying to spark the flint. I would give anything to be able to roll over and rest but there is still much to be done.
I start a fire, warming myself for a bit before searching around the cabin. Finding a bedroom with blankets and a kitchen with jarred food. I send praise to the gods above. I drag all the linen to the main room, making two cots for the goliath and myself. I don't bother trying to drag him closer to the fire, exhausting all my courtesy towards him. Wrapping him in a blanket after checking his wounds is all I can bother within one night.
With my vision tunneling, I lay down in my cot and take a well-earned rest.
I startle awake the next morning when I catch the Goliath watching me sleep. His gaze is contemplative, to my surprise, but still rather brutish. I stare at him as he stares at me, not sure what his mood is this morning.
"you didn't kill me," he starts bluntly.
"That I did not," I answer.
"Why," he demands.
"it would not have benefitted me," I snuggle further into the warmth of the blanket.
He huffs," didn't think killing your enemy before they get the chance to kill isn't beneficial?"
"depends," I shrug," are you planning on killing me?"
He regards me for a few moments, his jaw ticking," No."
The goliath begins to stand, looking steadier than last night. His blood-soaked shirt is stiff and ripped. He takes a large step towards me, I flinch. Though I reluctantly trust his words, the years of fighting have left much ingrained. The recoil jostles my shoulder, making me bite back a whimper.
"Hurt," he asks, walking around me towards the fire. I can't pay him any mind as I breathe through the pain that has worsened from last night. Rolling onto my back I try all I can to remain still, the throbbing starting anew.
"I asked you a question," the goliath growls.
"Yes," I bark.
He chuckles," good. I'd hate to be the only one." I glare at his back. Slurs begin to roll towards my lips but I hold them back. Though he was near death before, I am in more pain now.
I hear the goliath poking at the fire, throwing another log in before stomping towards me. On reflex, I flinch, wincing again. He crouches down beside me, grabbing at my arm and jerking me upright. I spit out a curse, whimpering like a child. His meaty fingers poke and prod till I'm near tears.
"Stop," I shout. He glares, taking his hands off me.
"it's dislocated," he sneers," it has to be popped back into place." he reaches for me again, I twist away.
"Don't you fucking touch me," I snarl, shuffling farther and farther away from him. He remains kneeling by the cot, scoffing at my departure.
"Fine," he slaps his hands to his thighs," deal with it yourself."
I watch him trot off somewhere out of sight, stomping all the while. His heavy steps echo around the cabin, shaking the walls a bit. I'm impressed he hasn't knocked some of the decorations off the walls. Hell, I'm impressed he can stand up straight without hitting his head. I hear some clanking of glass, telling me of his location. With him out of the room, I breathe easy.
My arm makes me feel useless and I try to keep busy. Sorting out supplies and checking the fire becomes tedious with one arm. I take to looking at the piling snow outside, it already reaching around a foot high. Even without the blizzard out there, I had no intentions of leaving, it seems neither did the goliath as he licks his wounds in the main bedroom. We keep to ourselves most of the day, him coming back as the day grows to night. Even then he remains in the farthest corner from me. Not that I mind, keep the brute away less we break this unsteady truce.
I try to head to the cot, struggling to lay down with every angle hurting my shoulder. I try to bite back whimpers, not letting him get the satisfaction of hearing them. The hardwood is uncomfortable, so much so that I consider going to the bedroom to sleep on the mattress. The threat of freezing keeps me where I am.
I wiggle around enough that the goliath lets out an annoyed sigh," if you would let me pop it into place then you would have a better time getting comfortable."
"Piss off," I grumble.
He huffs again," you humans are too damn stubborn for your own good. I'm sure this war would have been dealt with years ago if your people would stop acting like children."
I scoff under my breath, not falling for the bait. He continues anyway.
"I'm tempted to see how long you'll keep use of your arm. With us snowed in I'm sure you won't last till the sun melts it all. As weak as you all are I'm nearly impressed with your resilience to help. At this point I believe killing you would be a mercy as amputation would get you dropped from service," he rambles on. I never knew goliaths could be so mouthy, saying nothing of importance in a conversation. He grates on my nerves till the pain of hearing him is worse than the pain in my shoulder. His constant insults nearly make me consider taking my chances outside.
As he goes on his next spiel I sit up, glaring at him as I stand. With a stubborn amount of determination, I charge at the nearest wall, slamming my shoulder against it. A loud pop echoes around the room, silencing the annoying goliath. I wheeze against the wall, panting hard as I slide down to the floor. Tears roll down my cheeks as a sob wracks over my body. My whole arm throbs, telling me of my success and idiocrasy.
I look to the goliath, blowing a loose strand of hair out of my face. He looks surprised, then impressed. It's short-lived though as he looks down at the sword he is fiddling with, having found it on the wall.
"It seems humans are stupid above all else," he mumbles. I huff, thunking my head against the wall.
The silence begins to bug me as the days go on. After his baiting, he hasn't said much else. During the day he sticks to the bedroom, coming back to the main room at night. I try to keep busy, running out of things to do besides count rations and look out at the white landscape. The fire has been kept lit all day, our woodpile beginning to run low. I know there is a large stack outside but the idea of going out there chills me to the bone. At some point I'm going to have to, that thought keeps me busy.
We sit in our cots one night, staring off into space.
"Our fire is going to die before the snow melts," he says casually. I lazily look at him, watching him look to the heath. The glow of the fire gives him a beautiful glow, lighting his markings like a painting.
"there's some chopped wood outside," I answer. He nods.
"I'll retrieve some tomorrow morning, give it enough time to dry out," he states.
"no," I glare at him," I'll grab it, you can't be trying to get your giant self through that snow. Besides, you can reopen your cut lifting those logs."
He glares back," like you can do any better with your arm?"
I sit up," I can do better than you getting through the snow. So what I lack in strength I make up in time."
"by the gods woman," he shouts," can you cease your insolence for one day? Your fire is admirable but it will get you killed. You will rest, do I make myself clear?"
His scolding demand boils my blood. Who does he think he is making such commands? I'm not his to push around or control.
"No, you don't. I will go out there with or without your permission because you aren't my father or commander," I shout. I nearly get up to grab the wood that second, my ire demanding action.
"This is the thing with you humans, we try to do something kind and you basically spit in our faces," he slaps his hands on his thigh," there is no more discussion, I will get the wood in the morning."
"No, you-," he interrupts me.
"End of discussion, now go to bed," he scolds. Before I can say anything more, he rolls over in his cot. I want to scream in frustration, feeling like a child at this moment. Reluctantly I roll over and go to bed as well, fuming as I do.
I aim to wake up early, sneaking out before he can wake up. He still rests in his cot as I roll out of mine. I smile in victory as I make my way to the door. Wrapping my blanket around myself I head out to start the mission of carving a path through the snow. As I reach for the handle the door swings open, forcing me back a step.
"Morning," the goliath greets me, holding an armful of wet wood. I scowl up at him, blowing a stray hair out of my face. He snickers, walking past and setting the wood down by the hearth.
"How'd you wake up before me," I throw the blanket down in my cot. He organizes the already large stack of wood, spacing them out to dry faster.
"Your snoring kept me up, I was already awake," he shrugs.
I sulk, dropping back in my bedding with arms crossed. He looks over his shoulder, laughing as he catches sight of my scowl.
Today he actually spends time in the main room, warming up by the fire and checking on the wood. Minimal words are exchanged but still better than before. The reluctant truce feels less reluctant now.
Night falls and the logs still aren't dry. The small amount we have left can barely keep the fire blazing through the night. We both stare at the hearth.
"We can bundle up more," I offer.
"There aren't any more blankets," he says.
"We can lay closer to the fire, that might help," I try. The idea of freezing during the night isn't an ideal one. The small fire could keep us warm, but just barely. We can try to use the wet wood but it risks snuffing out the flame we already have. I can't think of much else to do.
"we're going to have to huddle for warmth," he sighs. I snap my head towards him, confused by the suggestion.
"Huddle for warmth? Like, share a cot," I ask. He nods. "Well, that's definitely out of the question," I shut him down.
"excuse me," he barks," why is that?"
"I'm not going to share a cot with you. Not even a few days ago you tried killing me, cursing my name to the gods in hopes that they will gut me and spread my entrails for miles," I shake my head," so no, I don't trust you."
"so, you trust that I won't kill you in your sleep but sharing a cot is where you draw the line," he asks, a smile curling his lips. I glare up at him, not appreciating his tone.
"It wasn't like I had a choice," I snide back.
He grins," it's not like you have much of a choice now, too."
I squint at him," you're enjoying this aren't you?"
"not at all," he fights back his smile," having to cuddle up next to my enemy isn't the highlight of my week."
"then it's settled," I clap my hands," we don't share a bed and we just risk the chance of freezing. I love it, glad we're on the same page." I stand up to walk away. He snatches my hand, tugging me back to the floor.
"No, not agreed. I can swallow my pride enough to do this and so can you. I'm not so stubborn to put my wants over my needs," he bites back. I glare daggers at him, he gives it right back. The battle of will begin, me debating on the weight of his words. I'd rather share the damn cot and keep warm but the problem is doing it with him. This truce is only here long enough for us to survive then get back to the war. I won't let myself sit here and pretend that we could be friends. No, that's out of the question. Still, we don't have to be friends to survive. I just have to bite my tongue and get on with it.
"fine," I shout," grab your bedding, it's larger than mine."
He jumps up, piling his sheets in his arms before dropping them in front of the fireplace. We sort it all out, layering some on the floor to keep the chill out. I snuggle under the blanket, looking up at him as he removes his shirt.
'Whoa, whoa," I yell," don't do that." he throws the dirty rag away and crawls into bed. His body gives my heart pause. The wound on his side has healed very nicely, looking more healed than I would have figured for only a few days. His stomach is toned, along with his chest. The fire allows shadows to dance over his torso, adding another level of appeal to his massive frame.
"skin to skin is better to keep warm. Don't have to waste time warming up the clothes," he explains, reaching out and tugging at my shirt. I slap him away, feeling more girlish at this moment than at any point in my life.
"No, no, I'll be keeping mine on," I curl my arms against my chest. He snorts, letting me be as he drops beside me. I watch him, still conflicted on letting this go on. Everything is so confusing. The goliath looks… well, attractive, lounging against the bed. His angry features look softer at the moment, almost relaxed. I don't like seeing him this way.
I lay upon the blankets, turning towards the fire. I jump when his hand curls over my stomach and tugs me against his body. He is so warm. It takes a considerable amount of effort to relax, trying my damndest to fall asleep. I close my eyes and try to pretend the warmth coming from my back isn't his.
Sleep eventually tries to take its claim. My mind fading in and out of rest. As I nearly give in I feel something press against my shoulder, foreign words being mumbled near my ear. His hand fists at my shirt, his head nuzzling against mine. I feel him kiss the back of my neck, mumbling more soft words to my back. I gasp at the feeling, my cheeks tingling from more than the fire. He stiffens behind me. Neither of us moves, neither of us makes a sound.
Nothing is said as we both pretend it never happened. Falling off into tense sleep.
The next morning is…awkward. He wakes up before me, jostling me awake as he runs out of the room. I believe he holds up in the bedroom but I can't tell or gain the courage to check. I'm in a flurry of thoughts as the tingle on the back of my neck remembers his lips. Why did he do that? Surely he hates me, or the most tolerates me. His constant disrespect to my species as a whole has shown his true feelings. For fuck sakes, he tried to kill me not even a week ago.
I circle on the thought the whole day, trying to make some sort of sense of the small bout of affection. It isn't till later that I think about my feelings towards him. I don't hate him, that's clear. I just have a bit of distrust for him. The war has been going on for years now, starting over something as trivial as land. It's grown into this hatred that's on sight. I've killed a few of his people and he has killed a few of mine. As is life as a soldier. But is that a factor now? This little bubble we have created seems to have made those rules disappear. He is domineering but kind, loud but sweet. I don't hate him, I just don't trust him.
He doesn't come back in as the night falls, staying in his room. The wood has dried enough to be used, keeping the fire large. I end up going to bed without seeing him that whole day.
The next morning I wake expecting to see him. I actually hope to see him, to get some sort of guidance on what to do around him. I look around the room, not seeing any evidence of him being here. I sigh, a bit sad at the fact he locked himself away. It's weird to be so disturbed at his absents. I ignore it and get on with the day.
The snow outside has begun melting, the sun shining brightly through the trees. It's still a good two feet and dangerous to venture in but the time here is coming to an end soon. As I watch the water drip off the roof, I grow nervous. I'll have to try to head back to my platoon soon, getting back to the war. That thought ruins my day.
The sun sets and the goliath still isn't here. Nearly two days now and I've heard nothing but some stomping around. At least I know he's still alive. I feel antsy now, tossing and turning in my cot. Why is he still avoiding me? It wasn't that bad what happened, is he embarrassed? Maybe I should go break the ice, make some peace before we part ways.
I shuffle out of my cot, wrapping the blanket around myself. Walking further into the house I stop in front of the closed bedroom door. What am I doing? Perhaps it's better to turn back and pretend nothing happened. Pretend that he didn't hold me close and whisper sweet-sounding words. A lapse of judgment happens to us all. I sigh.
Grabbing the knob I open the door. I shuffle into the darkroom, the light of the moon guiding me towards the bed. A figure sits up in the bed, glowing partially in the light. I walk around the bed, crawling in beside him. His large hands grab my hips to tug me closer. All thoughts evade me as I follow his lead. I throw my leg over his hip, straddling his lap. His hand glides up my back, petting over my braid. He digs his fingers into my hair.
"I wante-," he tries to speak. Words aren't important now. Without much thought I quiet him with my lips, taking his for mine. It's his turn to gasp, freezing while I slant my mouth against his. His fingers clench, tugging on my hair, reacting swiftly. His kiss is sweet. It's a warmth I've craved all day. I pet at his chest, touching the cold skin peeking out the tears of his shirt.
"you're cold," I mumble against him. He forces me back, licking at my lips. I trace his tongue with my own.
"you're so warm," he smiles.
His freezing fingers dig under my shirt to send a chill down my spine. I shutter in his hands, relishing in his touch trailing up to my chest. He kisses me as he twists our positions. Slowly, he guides me onto my back as he crawls over me. I don't bother thinking, wanting to focus on his touch.
He removes his shirt while I shove mine off. We smile at one another, leaning back into another kiss. I pull him close, straying off the cold with his heat. His hips slant against mine, grinding hard into my crotch. His hardening cock brings a zap of need to my body, craving more and more.
We can't wait a second more, peeling our pants off and guiding his large cock to my wet heat. I'm almost hesitant in taking him, his length and girth way bigger than I'm comfortable with. When he pecks my cheek I trust him to be gentle. I take his cock with a choked cry, his grunts playing around the quiet room. As he bottoms out we both take in a much-needed breath.
"Varoth," he says suddenly. I look at him bemused.
"What," I ask, grabbing at his arms.
"My name," he smiles," Varoth." I almost laugh at the ridiculousness of it all. This whole time I never knew his name.
I chuckle," It's nice to meet you Varoth, I'm Evelina. You can call me Eve." he grabs my hand, holding my fingers in his palm as he lifts my knuckles to his lips.
"it's a pleasure, Eve," he presses a kiss to my skin. It's silly and sweet, I want to hit him or kiss him.
With our introductions out the way, he begins to pump. His hips slowly undulate, grinding into my hips with every descent. The feeling of him is beautiful, warm, and intoxicating. Part of me realizes the taboo of it all, sleeping with the enemy. Yet, I can't bring myself so care.
He fucks me like he cares, petting along my sides and worshipping every inch of me with his touch. His lips press every space he can reach, sucking and nipping to his heart's content. I can't look away, watching in awe as he lazily pumps his hips and kisses my chest. Not being able to take it any longer I drag him up, meeting his eyes with a smile. My thumb pets at his cheek before I slant my lips against his.
"you're so beautiful," he purrs against my mouth," so strong and determined."
"Yea," I ask, licking his top lip," I thought you hated how determined I was." his hands trail down to my hips, gripping them to buck harder in his next thrust.
"I hated how it pleased me," he groans," everything about you draws me in. That's the only thing I can hate about you." I flutter around him, twitching at his praise. His face clenches up for a moment, showing his blissful torment.
We make love this night, no doubt about it. Our slowly climbing peaks don't need to be rushed as we just enjoy one another. We kiss and bite, mumbling praises to the other as the fire inside stokes to an inferno. I break first, almost startled by the sudden pleasure. I writhe and cry out, clenching around him. He doesn't falter as he watches me fall apart. It's not till I'm laying exhausted in the sheet does he take his own end. His hips clap against mine, taking his fill before spilling in me. He groans long and loud, collapsing atop of me.
Sometime later we lay cuddled in bed. He curls around my back, hugging me at the waist. His arm pillows my head, allowing me to play with his hand. I compare our sizes, amazed at how easily he can fit my hand in his. His large fingers please me, them curling over mine.
"Were you embarrassed about the other night," I ask as I trace the lines of his palm.
He hums," I didn't know you were still awake."
"so you decided to hide in here till the snow melted," I tease. He grabs my hand in his, intertwining out fingers.
"It sounds childish when you say it like that."
"Well, it was," I say. He nips at my shoulder in retort.
"You have a power over me that makes me act like a whelp. I can't help but act a fool when you're near," he pecks my shoulder. I hum, smiling to myself.
We fall asleep in the cold room, keeping each other warm. It's the best sleep I've gotten since we got here. Though my toes feel near frozen and my thighs feel sticky, it's the most restful night.
Come morning I wake to a breeze ghosting over my back. I shiver, rolling over to snuggle into Varoth. Cold is all I'm met with. I stretch my arm out, feeling the empty bed. Confused I bolt upright, looking over the vacant area. I look around the room. His clothes are missing along with him. Perhaps he is already by the fire.
I get dressed and walk out into the main room. The only thing that greets me is a blazing fireplace, even the cots are cleaned up and put away.
"Varoth," I call out.
Nothing.
I search the whole cabin, an unsettling feeling curling in my chest. When I open the front door I get my answer. The snow has melted through the morning, coming to a manageable height. In the snow is footprints leading out and away. My jaw ticks as I slam the door shut.
Guess it's over now.
I pack up my things numbly. The hike through the woods is lonely, not even the birds keep me company. It's well towards sunset when I finally find civilization, a small town a few miles away from the woods. I make contact with the crew stationed here and get back to my life before everything.
The next few weeks feel hollow. Working has lost its appeal, it's passion. I fought for a purpose, to be free of the goliath's anger. To reclaim the lands they stole from us. It was a solid following, but now? Every fight I can't even bother to look at them, seeing the humanity in every single one. What's the point of reclaiming the mountains? Why try to take that away from them when it's all they have?
It's a month later when I resign from the war, dishonorably discharged. I try to live out of the path of the war but it seems there it's not much of an escape. The people still rant and rave about the goliaths. I pick up and leave, making it to a neutral town far away from it all. Starting a new life in a new land.
I make a career for myself as a blacksmith's assistant. The years of hard labor in the service have toughed me up for such back-breaking work. I offer the large orc my help in fetch tasks, at least till I learn enough to be of actual use.
"Eve," the orc grunts," you don't mind heading over to the lumbermill to get me some wood for handles?'
"Of course not," I jump up," anything to not be sitting in this sweltering heat."
The older man laughs, wiping sweat from his brow," you're telling me."
With an objective, I make my way down the village. The small hunting village is home to a melting pot of creatures. It's almost a haven for all. Orcs and dwarves work together along with humans and elves. It's nice living somewhere so accepting.
I make it to the mill at the edge of town. The saw is heard from down the road, the crew already hard at work. I walk around till I spot someone chopping wood in the center of a pile of logs. He is a pasty man, large and strong. I call out to him.
"Excuse me, sir," I shout over the saw. The man launches his ax down again, splitting the log easily. With that done he glances over his shoulder. I almost recoil at the sight, my traitorous heart lurching.
"Evelina," Varoth gawks. His deep gravelly voice nearly calms my nerves. It's nice to see him, at the same time that it isn't. I almost contemplate running.
"Varoth," I growl. He tosses his ax, walking over with his loud steps. His quick movement startles me into taking a step back. He comes to me fast, grabbing at my arms before I can race off. I fight in his hold, angry and frustrated with him. He left and it still stings. I never let myself think about it, labeling the memories as forbidden in my mind. He pulls me flush to his sweaty chest, my feet dangling off the ground. His mouth captures mine in a fierce embrace.
For a moment I can forget my ire, melting into his touch like a lovesick woman. I give myself that few seconds, and only that.
I push him away, shaking out of his arms and falling to the ground before slapping him across the face. He barely flinches, his head staying still.
"You don't get to do that," I stab my finger into his chest," you have no right!"
"I know," he grunts, looking at me with awe. He doesn't look mad or confused, but happy. It plucks at my nerves and my heart.
"Fuck you, Varoth," I spit," you don't get to grab me like that and kiss me as nothing happen. Like you didn't leave me alone in that bed, confused and worried. Do you understand how much it hurt to see your footsteps in the snow that morning? I had to suck it up for weeks, pretend that what happened never happened. I had to fight on like my enemy doesn't look just like you." a frustrated tear rolls down my cheek. I wipe it away and continue, letting out the anger and hate I've hidden for weeks.
"You made me so confused! I knew what I was before we fell off that hill, I knew what I fought for. Then you came and fucked me up, fucked me over. I was left conflicted and scared as I walked back to the life I knew. But it really wasn't the life I knew, it was all wrong. I had to drop everything I used to know and start all over again because you fucking kissed my neck and whispered sweet words. So fuck you, Varoth," I vent," fuck you."
Speaking felt like opening an old wound. I always imagined what would happen if I saw Varoth again. I thought I would just walk by him and pretend that nothing went on between us, to hold my head high and ignore him. I wanted to be better than this, to care as little as he did when he left. I hiccup, snorting back snot. I can't do that. That night meant more to be than him it seems.
I shutter as sobs try to wrack my body, the months finally catching up to me. Varoth tugs me into his arms, petting at my back as I cry. I beat at his chest, wanting to be angry, but all I feel is tired.
"I'm sorry, Eve," he crouches down to his knees, burying his face against my hair," I couldn't stay, we both know that. Saying goodbye would have been too hard for me. I was a coward, and for that I'm sorry." I let him hold me, stealing his comfort as it's what I'm owed.
"You should have said something," I mumble, exhausted, against his shoulder," I felt so used that morning. Like that night meant nothing to you. I could only think that you truly saw me as some low life human to be used and discard."
He recoils at my words, reaching up and cupping my cheeks. His eyes dart between mine, his brow pinched in concern.
"That night meant everything," he says sternly," I am just a coward who couldn't face the consequence of the next day. Do not think any longer that I wanted to use you because that is the biggest lie I can think of."
I can't help but snort in amusement," I guess you're the real poltroon."
He smiles, softening as he speaks," yea, I guess I am."
We stand in the lumberyard just staring at one another, so much left to be said. Yet, all I can think about is kissing those plump pale lips.
"Varoth," I cup his hand against my cheek," why are you here?"
His thumb pets under my eye," I moved here shortly after the snow completely melted. I couldn't fight in a war I no longer believed in."
"I understand that," I nod bitterly," should I be so bold to assume I'm the reason for that change?"
He smiles, leaning down to drop his head against mine," of course you are. Every change I've made since meeting you is your fault." I choke out a laugh, more tears rolling down my cheeks. Nothing stops me from reaching up and kissing his cheek, his nose, his lips. I've missed him. He returns the gesture, making a smile curl up my face as he kisses me everywhere.
"I have yearned for you every day," he kisses my cheek," scolding myself for being such a fool ever since."
I giggle from his attention," you have been known to be an idiot, but I've missed you too."
He stops his kisses, rolling his forehead against mine," do you think I'd be allowed to make up for lost times?"
"I don't know," I look to him with a teasing glint in my eye," you still have to make up for leaving me cold and alone in bed."
"That I do," he shuts his eyes," perhaps spend my whole life making up for that mistake."
It's a long while before we can gain the courage to split apart, making plans to meet up after work. He helps me carry the wood to the blacksmith, catching me up on his life since he found the village. I can't stop the smiling that graces my lips.
I think everything is going to be a-okay.
I'm from a different dimension actually Chapter 8 Damian x reader
Tumblr media
The school is shut down for a week ironically because of an attack by The Joker and Two-Face, that Robin and his team took down. The teachers sent out a notice with homework attached and told us to stay inside. Nightmare came back somewhere in the morning I couldn't tell the time because I apparently fell asleep along with Boy Wonder before the end of season 1 of The Highlander. I gently placed him down on the couch, gotten dressed, and made some breakfast, I only had eggs so I made some scrambled and put them on a plate for him and me. Nightmare got the last of the bacon. I put a plate over Robins while I ate mine sitting at the small table in the kitchen going over my homework. Sadly I finished my homework before my eggs and they have gone cold. I silently morn my eggs eating the cold carcass. "You stare any harder at that screen and you might break it." I jump, my head shoots upwards and I sigh, but then my eyes drop on my cat. My jaw drops the furball is purring in the arms of a masked stranger who is petting his head. Robin was petting my cat holding him like a baby and the demon is purring. Robin still had his eyes, and limbs not even a bite mark was seen on his skin.
"You traitor, you barely know him." I playful scold the feline, he meows nuzzling his face in Robin's chest.
"Your monster seems friendly."
"Nightmare looks like he's been introduced to catnip."
"Just a few scratches here and there." He smirks taking a seat next to me."Thank you for breakfast."
"Mhm." I turn back to the screen, "Will you be going back today Robin?"
"I might."
"Hmm." I finish the last problem for today closing the device, "Well I have to go to work, your welcome to stay if you want." I smooth out my clothes tossing one last look at the melting ball of fur. I quirk an eyebrow but move out to the door. I stop Halfway through the doorway and look back putting on my meanest face. "If you break a single window in my home I will find where ever you are and break you. Bye Nightmare, love you, I'll be back in a few hours."
_____________________________________________________________
"Nightmare! I'm back!" my keys skitter across the floor but no black fur is seen. He's still in the arms of Robin though it's not Robin, Green eyes. My stomach sinks and my mouth goes dry. "Damian?" His is just as much shock as me, he puts down Nightmare and rushes to me the door slams behind me. And I'm being dragged then forced to sit, his hands grip my shoulders. "Your early, why did you arrive early, you not supposed to be back for another half hour." I hardly heard him, I scold myself now realizing the obvious. Why else would Nightmare feel comfortable around him he had been here before multiple times noticed how I treated Damian and that's why he was a purring mess in his arms. I said be nice to him when he was over not Robin, but of course, they smell the same Nightmare associated with both people. I should have spotted it sooner, the voice, the height, the tone of his speech. Dear God, I can mom telling how oblivious, like she did when she won Clue. It was right there, he asked the right question and baited me for answers. I don't know why this is a shock to me. Now that I think of it I have to stop myself from laughing
"What the hell," my voice quivers. "Damian, Damian Wayne. You help Gotham." I start snickering, pulling my hand over my face. I throw my head back laughing then fall over to the side. "Nightmare you knew didn't you! Haha, that's why you were you were melting like butter."
"Your laughing!"
"Did you assume I wouldn't!" I wheeze, my breath nearly coming out to form words. "I can imagine you fighting, but saving people that's something else entirely."
"Do you think so little of me?" He sounds disappointed.
"I don't mean it to offend you but what else can I say. I didn't expect this." I sit up, clearing my throat and looking him dead in the eye. "Can I just call you Damian now, or do I still have to you different names."
"Why aren't you more surprised?"I Smile sadly.
"I thought you would have read up on me, do you know who killed my parents that day at home." He stiffens, he opens his mouth but continues. "My Father's sister, my aunt, killed them both during dinner. All because my mother wouldn't let her see those journals you asked about. After that it many people took off their masks."
"That's all it took?"
"What should it take, she killed her own brother because she didn't get confidential knowledge. To be honest, I don't really care anymore."
"You need professional help." I shrug.
"Probably, but getting sessions is expensive and I don't enjoy answering "and how are you feeling?" questions. I had enough of that already from everyone else."
"Where's your brother, Emil?" I feel myself frown.
"He's with someone I trust, I can't tell you who, sorry."
"The file says you died, you also made a miraculous recovery, recovery from what?"
"I prefer not to answer that question, It's rather personal." I don't want to explain that either, I know the doctor was shocked to see me come back. They had to call the professor to have him take me and my brother. After that this entire fiasco.
"You know I'll find out either way."
"Listen, I don't know how I made it, I was tortured by my she who will not be named and left for dead. I prayed for anyone and everyone who would hear me, someone did, the police found me and I was rushed to the hospital. I decided to take a nap, and I woke up to the sound of Emil crying. He cried, even more, when I woke up, screaming even, the good doctor nearly fainted. I was plugged into wires of all sorts, and my uncle was holding a plug, I assume he pulled, tackled me. My body lit up in pain and felt like I was run over, the next I am separated from my family and rushed into a place where they check on me every three months. At least I got to choose the place, they pay for the school, and I cover everything else." I give in, it feels nice to tell someone, something even if it's not the whole truth. But it seems to shut him up. "Please don't go looking for Emil, they haven't caught my aunt yet. I don't know if she's looking for them next, I would prefer not to stand over another grave knowing she got them too." I stare at him gauging his reaction, his face is still stone, unmoving in the uncomfortable silence. I pick up Nightmare, who has been rubbing against my leg for a bit, and scratch his head as he wants.
"Fine, I won't push further but I have terms."
"Really?" What would he need terms for?
"1, you don't reveal my identity to anyone. 2, you will not acknowledge that you know my family’s identities. 3, I come whenever I like as Robin or as Damian. 4, I add terms whenever I please."
"Why would I agree to any of that? I'm the one who has your identity." He smiles.
"Because I will tell Batman this information, and he doesn't talk as kindly to people hiding something. You obviously still are, but for now, I'll let it slide I'm sure by now you've decided to watch the news, so you know what he does." I gulp, I did see his more recent victim and he looked traumatized.
"Alright fine, but I binge so if you fall asleep tough luck, I'm not going back."
"Fine," he reaches back and pulls out his mask which he puts back on, walking out to the kitchen. "I back in a bit, pull out your couch bed while I'm gone. I will be staying here a while." I get up after him.
"Hey, that offer is for when I thought you were some homeless bums who fights crime, gets money from villain's wallets. You have a perfectly good bed at home!" He turns back one foot on the railing and a grappling hook in hand. "Term 6, I will stay as long as I like." he jumps off like before, not giving me a chance to speak.
"Bastard! I need my alone time!" He's gone I don't even know if he heard me. I grumble pulling out the spare sheets and blankets to set up the bed. "He better be paying rent, smug rich kid."
"Meow." Nightmare looks over at the window Robin left of.
"Yes, he's coming back."
"Meow"
"No, I'm not going tell him, not until I have to."
"Merrow"
"Shut up." I kick the side of the couch holding the two large cushions that lay on it, the bed springs out and makes a satisfying thud on the floor. "Go and see if the data has finished downloading, then put it back in the box I'll make you something in a how you feel about tuna our downstairs grandparents gave me a can."
_____________________________________________________________
The sheets are made, the cat is fed and now I am going over how I was going to cover for another person. How much would he eat, can he survive on pastries, ramen, and eggs. How long was he staying, would his family come asking about him seeing as he was here before. At both times, when he broke my window, and when they came for coffee.
"Hey, open the door." The voice is cold but still recognizable. I get up slowly taking my time getting there along with opening the door. He hurries in, dressed in some normal-ish clothes that still look expensive, but he still dressed like he came out of a photo shoot. He not only has a suitcase but some grocery bags, I frown at those. He seems to notice because he forgets his suitcase and charges into the kitchen. "Hey!"
"Y/N I am not eating ramen and eggs for god knows how long. I will cook a decent meal and you will have something healthy."
"How did you know I only had eggs and ramen?"
"I went through your fridge," He places a bag of tomatoes in the bottom drawer where I see green onions and various other veggies.
"I make stir-fry once a month, you have bought enough greens and reds to make that for two weeks. I don't even have rice."
"You don't like it when people spend money on you, do you?"
"I don't need other people's money," He opens his mouth, but I stop him raising a finger cutting him off. "And before you mention Molly, she remains the exception. Not that me telling her not to stops her."
"And why is that." He stops putting the food in the fridge.
"Because I've been friends with her longer," I look back at his bags and frown. "How long do you plan on staying again."
"For as long as I please."
"Won't they come looking for you? Your family I mean, the Detective stops by almost every day."
"Grayson won't be a problem, I left them a trail that leads to several other places." He stuffs the last of the food in the fridge, getting up and looking out the balcony window. "Should take a long while." I can hear the smugness in his voice.
"Your happy you tricked your brothers aren't you." He turns around forcing himself to frown but the corners of his lips twitch.
"Ho, you're a bastard Wayne."
"You're really gonna curse me?"
"You didn't tell me I couldn't Damian." I grab my computer and open Hulu putting on Star Trek; Next-generation where I left off. "Hope you enjoy space adventure, because I'm not starting this over its seven seasons and 4 movies. I'm halfway through season 3, if you want context just ask." I glance up signaling that I am waiting for a response, he leans on the wall in front of my kitchen. I can't read his face, but his face of neutral displeasure wasn't much better. "So, your done feeling good about yourself, or is there something else you need."
"It's been something I've been wondering for a while now, those iridescent pieces you fed me."
"Part of my mother's work." Not a complete lie,
"Was that what those missing journals about?"
"No." More of a lie but not wrong. He groans anyway, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Man, you really like to cut in deep and waste time. Just come here and watch some Star Trek with me I need someone else to groan in pain about Counselor Troy's and Will Riker's on and off slow burn romance." Begrudgingly he walks over plopping down next to me.
"Your tastes in tv are odd."
"You have no idea, my tastes in something go everywhere, after this and Highlander I have several old cartoons next. First, I might have to gather what you know about the Quack pack, Goof troop, Ducktales, and all that pizazz. Though I have a feeling that you would like Darkwing Duck more, or it could possibly be too relatable." He gives me a look.
"How could I relate to a duck?"
"We are a long way from that now, at the moment we must bear witness to Captain Picard and his adventures commanding the USS Enterprise."
"Has anyone told you how unbelievably weird you are?"
"Sir, you have entered my life for what looks to be the long run. You will experience the kind of weirdness only Molly has ever seen. But now that you are basically my roommate you might see more." I pat his shoulder. "So, buckle up, because this is now you've got a seat on this roller-coaster, and you can't get off till the car reaches a complete stop. Now can we please get back to the show I want to see some cosmic action?"
_____________________________________________________________
"Was that a statement or a question?"
"He can achieve the perception of feeling with a chip that goes into his hyper-advanced brain, lets his brother take it but can't make his own."
"I lent you my computer to catch up to where I left off for one night and that's what you're hung upon."
"Yes," his eyes look serious while he shoves some oatmeal in his mouth. "You are the one who can't stand the slow burn."
"Touche."
Before we got to the last season, Damian had asked he could see the rest of the show before the finally. I didn't expect that he would binge because it was a weekend, he even made extensive notes on character weakness. He still went out on patrol every night but came back with no one tailing him. That's what he says at least. He looks tired, with bags under his eyes and just lacking energy altogether.
"While I'm at work please go to sleep, you look like you fought an energy vampire and lost."
"I wouldn’t have lost to a vampire, they’re not that hard to kill.”
“But they drink blood they need to get close; energy vampires are more psychic they don’t even have to be a real monster.” He stops eating/
“How so?”
“They could be emotionally, physically, and mentally draining people. You know like Deity Skimmer, the girl in our science class. You can’t kill the energy-sucking vibes she gives off, can you.” He snorts behind his hand.” I mean it, even creatures of the night need sleep.” I drop my dishes off in the sink. I walk off to the door putting on my boots, I hear the chair slide and I feel his judging eyes digging holes in the back of my skull.
“Once again your conditions said nothing about teasing you, suck it up.” He scoffs. “I’ll be back around 5, don’t break any more windows while I’m gone.” I close the door before I hear any remarks once more about the incident. Though I laugh to myself, I straighten out my outfit and head down to the wonderful smells of the coffee shop. I walk slowly down the stairs looking out to the crowd that had been seated in the lounge. My managers were out by the couches talking to one of the regulars. Pull me behind the counter and relieve my coworker Meg, she looks exhausted and excuses herself. She takes what I assume is her coffee and puts away her apron and rushes out the door. I finish out what she didn’t clean and wait for anyone to come up to the counter. *Ring* though it is loud I hear the bell for the door ring.
“I’ll be with you in just a moment, I need to clean the nozzle here.”
“That’s fine, I can wait.” I flinch but catch myself, so it looks like I flicked something. I turn around with the best smile I can pull off. The sleep-deprived brother of Damian, peers at me from under his hair a frown tugging on his face.
“Oh hey! You came here with detective Grayson last time. Is there anything you would like?”
“Coffee.”
“Any particular kind?”
“Anything that will keep me from sleeping on this counter.” He knocks on the surface twice.
“I Can recommend our D&D potion bottle, it’s a personal favorite of the owners.”
“Why not, how much?” He fumbles around for his pockets, I stop him.
“How about, I make get it for you, and then you pay.” He brings his hands back on the counter and nods.
“I will only be a few minutes, please make yourself comfortable.” I pull out the ingredients for our powerful concoction, the pho fried ice cream, a large potion bottle with a straw, and 20-sided dice. I place the potion bottle in front of him and the ice cream but hand him the dice. He stares at the shiny plastic unmoving.
“I would roll that.” He does what I say and lands on a nine. “Well, sir after this one you can either have another potion or chose two desserts of any kind from our display or menu.” He takes a sip from the straw rather slow; his eyes perk up a bit.
“How Much did you say this was?”
“Oh! That will be $9.23?” He pulls out the exact amount, and I put it away in the register, placing it in the compartment marked D&D.
“And I would like another one of these to go.”
“Sure, would you like it now or before you go?”
“Well now should be nice, I’m leaving in just a bit.” I pull out a cup that is relatively the same size as the potion bottle. I go to give him his cup and notice that he finished the bottle and ice cream. Confusion hits me, but I don’t stare too long to turn to clean the mess. “Have you seen Damian at all?” And there it was.
“No, not since the Gala? Did something happen?”
“There was a…disagreement so he ran out, but if you see him,” He handed me a piece of paper with a string of numbers and an email. “Tell me. That is my number and email.” He does not say anymore and walks out the door, the bell signaling his departure.
_____________________________________________________________
When I got back, I told Damian what happened, he isn’t pleased and is currently pacing the floor.
“My guess is that he knows.” I sigh over my tea and stare sadly at the replaced window.
“No doubt.”
“You know I was rather hoping not to be having another visit from the Batman. What will happen when they find out that I know about the caped crusader thing.”
“He’ll either force into secrecy, turn you into a child crusader, or confine you to the manor.”
“So in other words no privacy.”
“None.”
“As lovely as that would be you told me this was temporary, so why can’t you go back?”
“At the Gala I was supposed to keep you entertained at the table so that we could trap you into to talking about those journals.” I knew it.
“So, you lied to me.” I look at him, faking shock and betrayal.
“It was for the sake of the investigation; I didn’t think that I would end up-.” He examines my expression and face palms. “What’s wrong with you.”
“I like to call it “I laugh in the face of danger” Syndrome, in a moment of despair I crave comedy.”
“You're worse than Grayson.”
“I like him, so I’ll let this one slide.” I sip the warm liquid feeling soothed at the pumpkin spice. “What are you going to do now?” Nightmare jumps on the table noticing my concern and waiting for his answer from me. He walks to the corner where he put his bag then went to the closet pulling out my suitcase. He then grabs his outfit Robin outfit from the coat rack and his other materials. “Get packed, we’re leaving. I’ll grab Nightmare’s things gab whatever you need. And I mean need, don’t pick it up unless it’s necessary.”
“What? I can’t just leave, what about my job? School?!” He Pulls out my backpack and puts some food in it. “Damian!”
“Just trust me, I’ll take care of it! I don’t want you tangled up in my family’s nonsense.” He looks at me something odd swirling in his eyes. “Please.”
“Fine,” I grab my suitcase and pack my box and my compiece which hasn’t gotten back to me on its progress. I throw a few sets of clothes. I open the box to make sure the journals, the scales, and everything else, then I hide it under the clothing and my laptop in the front pocket. I thank myself for making sure to get a suitcase that has a double use as a backpack. In the living room, Damian is all packed the bag is strapped across his chest and he’s holding Nightmare.
“Let’s go.” He hands me Nightmare and pulls me to the balcony. He pulls out and belts with a ring pultruded out on one side swiftly put it around me connecting the loop to his belt. “Hold on tight, and don’t let go till I tell you.” I Sling an arm around him and grip on to Nightmare, he doesn’t hesitate and shoots across the balcony with his grappling gun. I screw my eyes shut. And wait to stop, my heart beats wildly in my chest Nightmare begins purring maybe in hopes to soothe me. I feel something wrong, but it would mean I was away from the Crows. I’m running again, even if it’s not me who chose this it still feels wrong. Because in the direction he’s going it seems that we were leaving Gotham. And for some reason, I feel like it would be a while before I returned.
Chapter 31
THE ROAD SO FAR
Chapter 30 Recap?
Roach was falling.
Tumblr media
S.O.S.
"Alex"
1km behind the Victoria Cruise Ship, UK
"Can't this thing go any faster?!" he hissed against the loud revving of the motor he stole from the docks. He wasn't supposed to steal it, but when he realized no one was around at that time of day, he saw smoke plume from the ship and thought he'd "borrow" it for an emergency.
From the shore, he saw flashing lights signaling a rescue team, meaning that something happened on the ship. Alex's hands gripped on the control stick as he navigated the smooth waves toward the ship, stopping at the moment he saw someone get pushed off deck.
He didn't need to know who it was, so he immediately changed course to the direction where the person fell. Strangely enough, the person didn't emerge from the ripples. This meant that he didn't have the capacity to shake his limbs. Without hesitating about his metal leg, Alex stood up and dove toward the ripple, cold ocean water immediately surrounded his body.
With all his effort, he swam downward until he caught up with the person, whom he soon realized to be Roach. He was squirming and holding his breath as Alex caught him and attempted to push them afloat. Of course he had a hard time doing it, as his hand held onto Roach and his metal leg couldn't make him swim better. So he grabbed his knife and sliced Roach free from the ropes, allowing him to freely swim upward, pulling Alex with him.
Emerging from the deep blue, Alex and Roach both gasped for air, caught up with their breaths and swam back to their stolen boat.
Roach hoisted himself up and assisted Alex, pulling him back to the boat.
"Whew, for a second I thought I was a goner." Gary coughed and wriggled his wrists, feeling the freedom.
"What happened out there?" Alex asked, salt water dripped from his hair and stache.
"It's a hostage situation, Shepherd's in need of funds and decides to target a gathering of rich people." Roach explained as Alex started the boat, the motor slowly sputtered to life.
"Let's crash the party." Alex invited and Roach nodded as they made their way into the slowly sinking cruise ship.
Tumblr media
Stepping inside the cruise ship, Alex and Roach made their way through the corridors evading contact with Shadow Company. They are fully aware that without glowing beacons, they are a threat.
"I think it's this way!" Gary pointed the left path and Alex followed, the way led to the Captain's quarters.
"Alex, Roach!" Soap grunted while fighting with one of the three big guys, his hand formed an X while deflecting a huge oar.
Roach and Alex surrounded the big guy and ducked the moment he swung his weapon, Roach quickly disabling him by kicking his foot making him lose balance and fall on his back.
"Thanks. That oar was annoying the hell out of me." Soap gasped and wiped off his tux, looking at how messed the room was.
"So it was 1 versus 3?" Alex asked as he looked at the unconscious bodies on the floor.
"Pretty much. One tazed the other one and the rest is history." Soap chuckled and pointed to the door.
"The rest of the team headed that way. They're trying to stop the Shadow Company while Price extracted 'Gold Bar'." Soap added and the three moved forward to the next area.
Halfway through the halls, the ship hummed and tilted slightly, meaning that water hadl already made its way inside. They have to hurry before the ship sinks.
"911 was right behind me when I left off. We have to make sure every civilian gets saved." Alex suggested. Soap and Roach looked at each other and nodded.
"You go, Alex. We'll handle the rescue from here." Soap replied and Roach nodded again as they paced to where the civilians were.
"All right then." he muttered and made his way to the control room.
Gunshots were heard from the distance, echoing the narrow corridors of the ship. With a place this narrow, it's almost impossible to miss a shot. This actually worried the former CIA and he ran faster, his metal leg hoofed on the floor.
The scene was Ghost and Alexandra hiding behind the wheel while Shadow Company soldiers, who were armed, were hiding by the next room. The two had pistols on their hands but judging from their gestures, it looked like they only had a few bullets left.
As soon as the enemy peeked its head on the door, Ghost swiftly shot his bullet square on the head as the enemy dropped down on the floor with a loud thud. His bullet clicked and he cursed as soon as he realized that that was his last shot.
Alexandra followed as another one peeked and had the same fate. Loud thundering footsteps echoed the halls as reinforcements arrived.
"This is Price. I found Alex's boat and the Gold Bar is here with me. Rescue Services are already in the building. Get out of there now!" He roared and Alex needed to find a way out.
Scanning the area, he charged toward the glass windows of the control room and broke it, rolling down the diagonal design of the ship, thudding on the floor. Alexandra and Ghost followed him and they ran to the back of the ship which was still too far from where they're at.
Dodging bullets and running for their lives, they caught up with Soap and Roach, who were also being chased by soldiers.
"What a mess this was, huh?" Alexandra commented as they all sprinted together, dodging flying bullets and finding a way off the ship.
"I guess it's Plan B." Ghost muttered and Alexandra nodded.
"Follow me." He added and everyone else obliged as they made their way to the middle of the ship.
Alex had no idea what plan B meant but as soon as they made it to the center, they were surrounded by the Shadow Company. Their stances were slightly tilted as the ship continued to sink slowly into the ocean.
"Bollocks! I did not see this coming!" Ghost cursed and Alex was clear that this wasn't part of the plan.
"How many of them are here?!" Soap complained as they slowly huddled into a circle. Alex noted that they did this part like the Avengers in New York, except they weren't superheroes and they were weaponless.
"I don't know. I just got out of a life threatening situation and here I am again with one." Roach complained, looking at his allies.
"On three, we head east."  Ghost whispered, Alex turned to the location smoothly as to not alert everyone that's pointing their weapons at them.
"Two.."
"One.."
Ghost clicked his detonator and a huge explosion occurred in the east, sending most of the Shadow Company on their feet and distracted.
"Go! Go! Go!" Ghost roared and everyone scattered and ran toward the blast, using the destroyed debris that was once impassable.
Alex and the rest of the team ran as they approached the back of the ship where Price was supposed to be. It only took the Shadow Company a few minutes to recover and bullets began to fly toward their direction.
Ahead of him, Roach and Soap were already by the edge, Alex saw the two jumped away from the ship and into safety while behind him, Ghost and Alexandra were being pressured with bullets.
Alex held onto the rails before attempting to jump, making sure Ghost and Alexandra made it through. He saw Alexandra follow Ghost's six but she accidentally tripped and dropped on the floor.
"Shit!" She squealed in pain as she got shot on the thigh, she forced herself to get up with Ghost's assistance. Alex pushed some tanning chairs toward the enemy as the tilted ship helped them slide to them, causing them to evade the falling chairs. But Shadow Company didn't give up, a few more soldiers emerged from the background.
"We have to go! Now!" Alex yelled as he ran ahead of Ghost making sure nothing's behind him. The enemies were still quite far but from the corner of his eye, a man with an RPG aimed his sights at them and before Alex could do anything, smoke already trailed from the weapon. It was already fired.
"Ghost! Behind you! RPG!" Alex yelled as the missile missed the three of them, and hit the floor quite far from them, tearing yet another hole on the ship's deck.
The warm heat of the blast slightly burned their skin as Alex and Ghost flew to the direction of their boat while Alexandra flew nearer to the Shadow Company, separating her from the rest of the team.
Alex's ears rang at the blast and he could hear Ghost's cry. Before he eventually fell on the ocean, the last thing he heard was Ghost calling out Alexandra's name.
Simon "Ghost" Riley
Alex's stolen boat (S.S. Crossbones), 4 km from Port of Dover, UK
Just when he thought he found his sense of humanity back through Alexandra Ryder, the universe fucked up his life once again. He was conscious, but he didn't want to wake up. He didn't want to open his eyes and see that Alexandra wasn't with them. It was too much.
He could feel someone slapping on his cheek, and judging by the group, only Roach had the guts to do it.
"Should we do CPR? I can't hear him breathing." Roach asked, panic was in his voice.
"Check if his chest is rising or falling." Soap suggested. Ghost thought that he could pretend to be dead for a little more, but the team was worried about him and he had to face reality one way or another.
Ghost coughed the salty seawater clogging his breathing and panted heavily as he got up. His vision slowly got clearer as he visualized the whole team looking at him.
"Thank God, you're alive!" Roach cheered and everyone else nodded him welcome. He wanted to thank each of them but there was still something bothering him.
"Alexandra…" he muttered as he quickly got up, Alex's hands stopped him on his tracks.
"They tried circling around the ship before it sank. There was no sign of her." He frowned along with the rest of the team. Ghost hasn't cried in a while, but this time tears involuntarily trickled on his cheeks.
"NOOOOO!!" He yelled, his voice pierced through the open sea as Gary huddled near him and gave him a hug.
"I'm sorry." Roach whispered. He wasn't there to help him and he always tries to absorb some of the blame.
Ghost wanted to tell him that it isn't his fault, but his throat was still recovering from his screams. Everyone around him fell silent as he slowly stood up and pulled his mask.
He silently tossed it into the ocean as it slowly sank as soon as it got soaked with water. It was sad to think that Alexandra lost her life at the cost of no lead toward Shepherd or Nero, but Ghost looked straight into Gold Bar's eyes.
"I want you to live your life to the fullest. She sacrificed hers so you could live on. Don't you dare waste the second chance he gave you." He muttered causing Derek to nod and slowly sob as he sat on his knees.
"I will…" he whimpered through the croaking of his voice.
"Looks like the engine's back up." Soap announced, pulling his oily hands from the engine as Price started the machine as it revved to life.
For the whole duration of the trip, Ghost just stared at the remains of the cruise ship. He wanted to ask Alexandra to take their awkward arrangement to the next level, but the world looked like it had other plans for him.
"I will avenge you, Alexandra Ryder. I'll do whatever it takes to put your loss to justice." he whispered, tightening his grip on the boat, looking angrily at the ocean in front of him.
He paid no mind to the screaming and the hands banging against the containment orb behind him hanging from the bunker ceiling, humming a catchy melody he heard from a local band as he inspected the disc he was working on, curled up comfortably in a hover chair he smuggled from Morando's ship.
It felt familiar to a time before coronation day, Aja being dragged back home after running away again screaming about how she wanted a "normal life" and how she wanted to make friends, or to actually see their home planet outside of the palace. It really was too easy to capture her, Krel wondered how Zadra and Varvatos struggled on Akiridion-5. Granted he captured more than just his sister, some of her human allies got caught too, but he released them, of course, he had no use for them.
"I am Aja Tarron, of House Tarron, heir to the Akiridion throne and I demand you release me at once!" He sighed at her childish command, tiresome. "Do you hear me, Loyalist scum!"
Krel pondered for a moment, tossing the disc in the air like it was a coin, if he should have had her strapped down like Kubritz wanted to do. But no, it had to be Krel's way, since he was charged with capturing his twin. They are planning to use her as leverage to get information from his parents, but he had other thoughts. He wanted to send a message.
Another scream. Does she ever stop? Memory serves to say no.
"Well that isn't nice," he spoke finally, making the chair swivel around to face her. He revelled in the way her fury melted into shock. "I am your brother after all, such an insult hurts."
"K- Krel?" She sounded so hoarse from her screaming, she buckled against the transparent wall between them. "You're alive."
"Yes," Krel hummed, unimpressed by the statement. "Unfortunate, I am aware."
"But... but Morando's forces, you were captured."
Krel nodded, eyes rolling. "Captured and spared, later allied. You know how it goes." He shifted the chair so he could sit upside down, looking at the disc in his hand as if it held more interesting value.
"Allied?" Aja echoed. "You allied yourself with our family's enemy?" Anger scrunched up her lovely features again. "You put our planet in danger!"
"I kept our people safe." He frowned at her. "Morando listens to my council, he leaves the innocent alone."
"All of the people on Akiridion-5 are innocent."
"The Rebellion are not innocent, I'm afraid." Krel let his expression smooth over. "They break laws that were in place before I gave Morando the throne. Nothing has changed, just who is in charge."
"You... WHAT?" Aja's hands slapped against the curved wall of her prison. "You GAVE him the throne!"
"That is what I said, yes." Krel nodded. "I will succeed after him. Seeing as I am the only remaining heir." He sat his chair upright again.
Aja's expression morphed into a cross between confusion and insult. "You are not the only heir, I am still here Krel!"
"Ah ah," he wagged a finger at her before pointing at the arch on his forehead. The arch she lacked. "You are heir only in name. I, however, have the royal mark, have made actions for the sake of Akiridion as acting king, and continue to do so."
"As a traitorous prince!" Her four hands fisted against the wall.
"Unlike a cowardly princess!" He shot back, watching her flinch at the words. She opened her mouth to fight them but he cut her off. "I have done everything you never even wanted to do. All for the sake of our people! You do not get to call me a traitor when you have abandoned your own home long before Morando invaded!"
Anger faded from her face again, leaving her thoughts vulnerable, clear in her eyes. He would not let this soften him, not again, not ever.
"Krel-"
"This pitiful mudball has changed you, sister." Krel turned his gaze back to the disc, flipping it over and over in his hands. "You forget yourself, playing pretend with the humans."
"I am not the one who forgets them self." He heard her hiss, at the edge of his vision, he could see her gather herself up against the curved wall. It was a good choice to use a spherical prison. "After all, you sit in the enemy's hands."
Krel huffed a dry laugh. Oh, if only she knew.
"Oh, what must you think, sister? That I dance for a false king? No no, you have no clue." He taunted her. "He commands for me, one delson he will see this. After all, he agreed with my plan to release you."
"What?" She pulled back from the wall, confusion furrowing her brow. "Is it to find Mothership? You plan to follow me don't you?"
Krel slumped back in the chair, making it sway as he eyed her with amusement. "I have now need to find Mothership, I did find you easily enough on my first outing. Mama and Papa too."
Aja's eyes widened with shock, her jaw slack. She tried composing herself again, tried to keep herself angry, tried to hide her fear. But Krel knew better, better than anyone else.
"What do you want then?" She demanded through clenched teeth.
Krel showed off the disc he's been playing with, it flashed a gentle blue. "You all must be behind on the events after Coronation day, I need you to deliver this to Mama and Papa."
"And why would I do that?"
A grin curled across Krel's face, his eyes unfazed by her demeanor. "Because it is the only way you will be leaving this place. Mustn't make Mama and Papa worry, their precious child staying past curfew again." He chuckled mockingly.
"Why are you doing this Krel?" She demanded this, pain streaking over her features. It stabbed deep into his core. "What have I done, what have we done for you to do this?" Liquid started to trickle down her face, the streams glittered like starlight on her cyan skin.
"It is more of what you haven't done than what you have." He replied, tipping his head to the side. "But on the subject of what you have done," his eyes grew colder as they returned to focus on his sister. His twin. His other half. "You have forgotten me while you reside here. You have abandoned me to my potential demise. Mama and Papa too."
"No," she spoke barely above a whisper, her head shaking frantically. "No, no, little brother- Krel, you are not forgotten, I promise. We mourned you, *I* mourned you. Zadra wanted to go back for you, I tried to convince Varvatos, but he said it was too late." More liquid spilled from her eyes, the streams becoming thicker down her face. "We thought you were dead."
"Hm," he kept his expression even, untouched by the display. "And I prayed that you lived." He shrugged carelessly. "At least one of us didn't lose hope." He stood up on the chair, pressing the disc to the wall, pushing it through.
"See that Mama and Papa get this. It will only play once after activated."
He startled when she grabbed his hand that had pushed through the wall, gripping it tightly in three of her own.
"Please, Krel," she pleaded, pressing her head to the ball of hands. "Come with me. Mama and Papa will be overjoyed to see you. To know that you live. To know that our family is whole."
He said nothing immediately to respond. Pressing his three free hands against the wall but not pushing through, using them as leverage to pull his fourth from her grip, releasing the disc into her hands.
"That is the problem, Aja," he spoke mournfully, meeting her face of disbelief with no emotion of his own. "Our family isn't whole."
Aja's prison started moving upward into the ceiling, causing her to panic, pressing herself against the lowest parts of the wall. Anything to get closer to her brother.
"Littler brother!" She cried. "Please don't do this! Think of Akiridion!
"I am, sister dear," he answered lowly. "More than you ever have."
House Isekai: A Realm Reborn - Part 1, Old Places and New Faces (2 of 2)
House Isekai ARR Masterlist Here
Tumblr media
Upon their return to Fodlan, Kazuma, Rean, Towa, and Aigis have found that it has changed drastically. Whether it was for better or worse, was unknown.
After reuniting Sitri and meeting the second generation of Garreg Mach students, the four make their way once more into the Zanado Tower...
Class VII pressed onwards as they looked at the environment constantly shifting around them.
Colossal platforms flew past them with lights flickering to life.
Altina struggled to process it all, so much information was flowing in at once.
Kurt tried his best to ignore the fantastical sights around him and tried to find an exit.
All he found were several crates with notes scattered on them and massive doorways.
Many of the platforms moved higher up into the room, but he had no idea where that would lead, so he avoided them.
(Juna) "K-Kurt? Do we know where we're going?"
(Kurt) "N-...No."
(Ash) "It'll probably be fine. Rean went through here right?"
(Musse) "Maybe? Where is everyone?"
(Altina) "...I seem to detect life forms?"
(Kurt) "Friendly?"
(Altina) "Unknown. None match Instru-...Hold on a moment."
(Everyone) ?
(Altina) "I am sensing Instructor Rean's presence. It is near the very top of this...building?"
(Musse) "Hm...I'm worried about the other ones."
(Juna) "Same here. We all got our weapons right?"
Class VII nodded and drew their weapons, keeping it at the ready.
(Juna) "Whew, least we're not totally unprepared."
"ALERT! ALERT!"
The five of them quickly moved closer together, looking around the area and trying to find the voice.
"THREAT DETECTED, UNKNOWN SIGNATURES DETECTED, ENGAGING SECURITY MEASURES."
(Kurt) "Is...it talking about us?"
(Ash) "If it is, then we better shut up and get out of here."
Sitri and the others stepped into Tower and heard the alert blare throughout the area.
(Kazuma) "The hell?"
Aigis turned back and looked at the Garreg Mach students and frowning.
(Aigis) "Is it detecting us?"
(Helena) "Considering this is our first time here, probably."
(Kairos) "W-WHAT IN THE WORLD?!"
(Elizabeth) "What is this place?!"
(Astrid) "It's so...bright!"
(Stefan) "Yeah, the glowing crystals are kinda hurting my eyes..."
(Sitri) "This is the Zanado Tower. It's where House Isekai came from, what I can understand anyway."
(Helena) "That the truth?"
Helena turned to the four.
(Towa) "We think so?"
(Rean) "Honestly, the details are a bit lost on us as well."
(Kazuma) "The only person that knew that much was Sothis and Byleth and..."
Their faces showed a hint of sadness before Elizabeth brought up another question, not noticing their shift when mentioning Byleth.
(Elizabeth) "S-So, this is where that creature was sighted? How do we even begin covering this large of an area with our small number?"
(Sitri) "W-Well...Um..."
KABOOM!
(Everyone) !?
(Rean) "Think that's our culprit?"
(Towa) "I can't think of anyone else that could be here!"
(Sitri) "Everyone, move out!"
...
Tumblr media
(Buck) "Ach, damn it!"
Buck waved away the smoke that was covering the area.
(Mickey) "H-Hey, at least we got the door open, right? Even if it was a little too much."
(Dutch) "Doubt using 7 explosive charges is considered "a little"."
The massive door in front of them was completely blown into pieces, the debris scattering everywhere, and some falling into the cavern beneath them.
Romeo checked the scope of his sniper and put one finger on the trigger.
(Mickey) "If that alert was about us, then it's going to get even more pissed off."
(Dutch) "Every security system must know where we're at now."
(Buck) "All the more reason to get our asses moving, now-"
Buck turned back to the hole in the door before noticing something on his visor.
The motion tracker was detecting several things coming to them, and he quickly motioned backwards to the cover they were using from the door breach.
Everyone got their weapons pointed at the door waiting for them.
(Buck) "On my mark..."
From the smoke, several figures emerged wielding all sorts of weapons ranging from swords to bows.
And it was then the squad's visors picked up the outline of them, they were human.
(Buck) "HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!"
...
Amber kept her bow trained on the four hiding behind cover, waiting for instruction.
(Duvalie) "They're human...I think?"
(Kaeya) "Never seen that armor before."
(Lisa) "Jean, dear?"
(Jean) "Who are you all?"
Her eyes drifted to the massive hole behind them. How could they have caused an explosion that big?
If she said the wrong thing, they could be killed.
(Buck) "Sergeant Gunnery Buck, and this is my squad! UNSC, Helljumpers! How 'bout you miss, we on the same side?"
(Jean) "My name is Jean, of the Knights of Favonius!"
Buck looked at his other squadmates and they shrugged.
(Buck) "You folks happen to know where we are?"
(Jean) "I'm afraid we do not. But we are allies, not enemies if that is what you're wondering."
Romeo examined every one of them as Buck was speaking to them. They didn't seem to be dressed for battle. In fact, the green one that looked like a girl had a damn instrument, not a weapon.
And the purple woman with the witch hat only had a book.
(Mickey) "Frankly, I say we don't take the chance."
(Dutch) "Yeah, great idea, kill the only things that HASN'T tried to kill us."
(Buck) "Alright. We believe ya. Stand down."
The squad nodded and stood up, the Knights of Favonius stepping forward.
(Jean) "I think it's plain to see we're...both out of our element."
(Buck) "Seems like it. As I said, call me Buck, and these are my men."
(Mickey) "Mickey."
(Dutch) "Name's Dutch. Pleasure."
(Romeo) "..."
Buck's visor became see-through, his face being visible as he turned to face Romeo.
(Buck) "What's the matter? Helmet turned off?"
Romeo shrugged.
(Venti) "Um, is he okay?"
(Buck) "Oh, I get it. Permission to speak. Smartass."
(Romeo) "Name's Romeo, ladies."
He turned to face Jean, Lisa, Duvalie and Amber.
Rolling her eyes, Duvalie butted into the conversation.
(Duvalie) "Ugh, keep it to yourself. Anyways, I'm Duvalie, head knight of the Stahlritter."
(Mickey) "Thought you were with the...whatever you guys were called."
(Kaeya) "Favonius. Actually, she's from another world, as I'm assuming you all are. Kaeya, by the way."
Buck examined their clothing again and when he started to think on it, no human from their world, no matter the planet, would wear something so outlandish as that, especially in the middle of a war.
(Diluc) "...Diluc."
(Venti) "I'm Venti!"
(Amber) "Amber, hope we get along!"
(Lisa) "And I'm Lisa. All of us except Duvalie are together."
(Romeo) "Before we get caught in a never ending cycle of introductions, can we get the hell out of here before anymore of those things show up?"
(Jean) "You've seen them too?"
(Buck) "Weird glowy blue gnome looking things?"
(Duvalie) "The hell is a gnome?"
(Lisa) "Let's put it this way to make sure we're on the same page, were they carrying a staff and rather short?"
(Dutch) "Those are the ones, ma'am."
(Diluc) "Abyss mages are attacking them too..."
(Kaeya) "Think Romeo had a point, we'll discuss this once we're in relative safety, we were nearing the exit I believe, before you all blew a hole through that door."
(Mickey) "Hey, we had to get in somehow!"
(Buck) "Hold up, we weren't going to leave just yet. There was a group of kids that was making their way upwards."
(Amber) "Kids? We didn't see anyone else on the way."
(Romeo) "Oh, right. They just got here. I'm all for saving them, but we barely managed to get away from those mage things. Our bullets didn't seem to do anything."
Jean held her rapier and nodded.
(Jean) "Allow us to take care of it with you. Change of plans, we're headed back in."
She stood next to Buck as he darkened his visor and checked his assault rifle.
(Buck) "After you, miss Jean."
...
Rean was the first one through the hole in the door and looked around, no one appeared to be there.
Everyone else stepped forward weapons drawn, and it was now Rean noticed what everyone was carrying.
Sitri had the Sword of the Creator, Kairos and Elizabeth had spellbooks, Helena had a knife, Astrid held a lance, and Stefan wielded an axe.
The students appeared to have no hesitation about their weapon of choice, but Sitri was slightly trembling.
It was clear she had done some training with a sword, and yet...
He shook his head, now wasn't the time to be focusing on that.
(Aigis) "I am detecting several lifeforms down below."
Aigis turned to her right and looked at the glowing circle-like shape at the end of the walkway.
(Towa) "Anyone familiar?"
(Aigis) "...Negative."
(Kazuma) "Then let's get down there, maybe the little shits that caused this are close by, considering how recent that explosion was."
(Sitri) "Right, let's try to find a way down."
Sitri and the Garreg Mach students stepped near the circular platform while the former House Isekai members examined the explosion hole.
(Aigis) "These explosions appear to be made from devices similar to C4..."
(Kazuma) "What, these guys packing modern day weapons too?"
(Rean) "What's C4?"
(Aigis) "Small explosive charges that you can put on virtually any surface."
(Towa) "Something that small can cause that much damage?!"
Meanwhile, Elizabeth was examining the glowing circular platform with the other students and Sitri close to her.
(Helena) "What is it?
(Elizabeth) "I'm not sure...Maybe it's some kind of-"
Elizabeth put her hand on the platform, which made it glow an even brighter orange as it catapulted the group forward to the other walkway, causing them to scream.
Rean and the others turned their direction and saw them land on a platform which began to move away.
(Kazuma) "AW SHIT, SITRI!"
(Towa) "THE STUDENTS!"
(Rean) "After them!"
Before they could move any further, they heard strange noises behind them, which made them draw their weapons...
...
When Kairos got up and saw the moving platform, he immediately turned to Elizabeth.
(Kairos) "GREAT JOB, YOU IDIOT!"
(Elizabeth) "D-Don't you yell at me with that tone! How was I supposed to know that-"
(Helena) "Both of you shut up. Focus."
She held onto her knife tighter as she realized the platform was heading downwards.
(Sitri) "Is everyone alright?"
(Astrid) "Just fine, Lady Sitri. Can't say we'll be that way for long.
(Stefan) "We're going deeper into the tower, is that a bad thing?"
(Sitri) "This is my first time in the Tower when it wasn't being controlled by memories, so I'm not sure..."
(Kairos) "Fantastic..."
Elizabeth had a mind to slap Kairos but kept it to herself, instead examining just how far down they were going...
...
Class VII moved even quicker after hearing the explosion, trying to find anything resembling stairs since they were unsure about the elevators.
(Musse) "I don't think we have any other way up."
(Juna) "Maybe we can-"
BOOM! BOOM!
Two gunshots roared through the area, with a thud echoing and signaling that someone or something was brutally killed.
Kurt motioned forward and Class VII turned the corner to see a massive man clad in yellow armor, towering over some strange creature.
It was short, fat, and blue. It was uttering some language they didn't understand before the soldier stomped on its head, crushing it.
Class VII drew their weapons and the yellow soldier turned to face them.
(Yellow Soldier) "...Children?"
The soldier eyed them up and down, trying to identify them as Class VII did the same.
The armor he was wearing looked heavy and durable, being wide as some of the doorways they passed through. He stood at around 8 feet, holding a rifle as big as his chest.
(Kurt) "...What was that thing you killed?"
The soldier turned to the creature and shrugged, the shoulder pauldrons moving up and down was the only indication he did so since his armor was so massive.
(Yellow Soldier) "Most likely some form of xenos. It opened fire as soon as it saw me, so I purged it. Better I have done so since children are in the area."
He turned to face them.
(Yellow Soldier) "Though you are far from defenseless it seems."
Kurt didn't put away his weapons, and neither did anyone else.
(Yellow Soldier) "...I am Raelyn. Raelyn Amuto, Adeptus Astartes."
(Juna) "You're a...what now?"
(Altina) "Does not match any known organization in Erebonia."
(Musse) "Not ringing a bell for me either..."
(Raelyn) "...You are?"
(Kurt) "We are Class VII, part of Thor's Military Academy, Branch Campus."
Raelyn lowered his rifle, the helmet's unblinking lenses seemingly staring straight into them.
(Raelyn) "We are Space Marines, mankind's greatest warriors."
(Ash) "Evidently."
(Raelyn) "Do you know the area I am in?"
(Kurt) "Not a clue. We were following our Instructor to find out where he went, and we ended up here."
(Raelyn) "Hmph. Stay behind me. I do not know what awaits us-"
He stuck a hand outwards as he noticed a platform moving downwards. Everyone readied their weapons again, and keeping it on them seeing another group land in front of them.
(Buck) "Hey, those are the kids! And...!"
(Kaeya) "Looks like they already met one of the Abyss mages."
(Mickey) "Goddamn, that is some armor!"
(Raelyn) "Guardsmen? And..."
He lowered his weapon, though Class VII didn't.
(Jean) "Before you ask, we are not enemies, and we are just as lost as you all."
Dutch turned to the knights and noticed Duvalie had her sword still up.
(Dutch) "What's the deal with her?"
(Venti) "Huh? Duvalie what's wrong-"
(Duvalie) "THOSE BRATS, THAT'S WHATS WRONG!"
(Altina) "Threat detected."
Class VII and Duvalie stood off against each other.
(Raelyn) "...It's safe to assume you are acquainted then."
(Kurt) "She tried to kill our class, our instructor and HIS class."
Jean frowned and turned to her.
(Jean) "You told me you were a knight of justice."
(Duvalie) "I-I am!"
(Buck) "Everyone, stand down! This pissing match is only going to slow us down!"
Buck saw the corpse of the Abyss Mage and sighed.
(Buck) "And it's clear you've already met the things trying to kill all of us. I don't know your histories, but that doesn't matter for right now! Let's get out of here and THEN you all can-"
Another platform landed behind Buck, making everyone turn around.
(Sitri) "U-Um...!"
(Helena) "Oh crap."
(Kairos) "I swear to the Goddess, Elizabeth-"
(Elizabeth) "WILL YOU SHUT UP?!"
Stefan gulped and adjusted his helmet.
(Astrid) "Uh...hi?"
(Everyone) ...
(Amber) "Hello!"
(Romeo) "For god's sake-."
(Juna) "Just how many of us are lost down here?!"
(Sitri) "Um..."
Sitri took a deep breath and tried her best to look confident.
(Sitri) "My name is Sitri, leader of Garreg Mach, and you're in our world. If you want answers, please come with us."
The students stared at her as if she were crazy.
(Kairos) "What?!"
(Elizabeth) "Look how many of them are here, I don't like these offworlders any more than you do, but we need to NOT piss them off, as you are very much pissing me off!"
(Helena) "You're not doing much better yourself-"
(Stefan) "H-Helena please that is NOT helping!"
(Astrid) "ANYWAYS! You want answers, we got it! Please let's just get out of here!"
Everyone looked at each other.
There was an awkward silence before Raelyn stepped forward first.
(Raelyn) "Very well, Sitri. Lead the way."
(Sitri) "Well um... we don't know the way up."
Jean motioned everyone to her, and they all stood together as the platform's lights pulsated quietly.
They sheathed their weapons and quietly looked out in front of them, staring at the massive crystal in the middle of the room.
Just where was this, and why were they brought here?
What were those creatures attacking everyone?
And what is Garreg Mach?
Hopefully soon, they would have answers to all these questions, and find a way back home...
...
...
...
(Altina) "...We are not moving."
(Duvalie) "Gee, I couldn't tell."
(Lisa) "Dears, what's the holdup?"
(Stefan) "D-Don't look at us!"
(Raelyn) "Are there too many on top of this?"
(Buck) "Dutch, the button?"
(Dutch) "Oh, sorry."
Beep!
...
Aigis blocked an ice spike that was aimed at Towa with her Persona, Athena easily blocking it with her shield.
Towa took another potshot with her pistol, but it was stopped by some icy aura surrounding the Abyss Mage as it danced along, taunting them.
Rean and Kazuma swung their weapons at it, but were deflected and sent flying back.
(Aigis) "None of our attacks are working!"
(Towa) "W-What do we do?!"
(Kazuma) "Do we hit it harder?"
(Rean) "Heed my call...!-"
Whirrrrrrr...!
(Everyone) !
Everyone, including the Abyss Mage, looked back to the walkway and saw a platform that carried a large amount of people unload, everyone drawing their weapons.
(Altina) "Instructor!"
(Rean) "What in the-What are you all-"
(Buck) "There's those sons of bitches!"
(Raelyn) "PURGE IT IN THE EMPEROR'S NAME!"
The Abyss Mage screamed in terror as those with guns opened fire, it quickly teleporting away from the massive group.
(Diluc) "Damn it, it got away!"
(Aigis) "...No other presence detected besides us. It appears we are safe for now."
(Kazuma) "Tch, wanted to show that asshole a thing or two, now...'
The four looked at the group and to Sitri. Towa and Reans' eyes were glued to Duvalie, her taking notice as well.
(Aigis) "...Are these friends?"
(Jean) "I hope we can be."
(Kairos) "They better."
(Rean) "Uh..."
(Duvalie) "NOT. A WORD."
Sitri took a step back as everyone scattered to their respective group.
Duvalie stood with the ODST's and Raelyn while the Knights of Favonius stood by themselves.
Class VII followed Rean and Towa, as the students of Garreg Mach got near Sitri and each other.
(Kaeya) "Quite the odd group we have lined up."
(Buck) "I can't help but feel like we're out of place."
(Raelyn) "Agreed..."
(Duvalie) "Of all the people, it had to be YOU."
(Rean) "G-Great to see you too, Duvalie."
Sitri trembled slightly before feeling a hand on her shoulder. Turning behind her, she saw Sothis smiling.
(Sothis) "Don't worry. I've seen this happen before, and I know what can get them together real quick."
Kazuma noticed Sothis talking to Sitri, but considering how on edge everyone was, he decided not to say anything.
(Kazuma) Please have a good idea, Sothis...
(Sitri) "I-If I could have everyone's attention!"
Everyone turned to face her, which made Sitri silent for a moment, but after putting her hand on her chest, she looked more determined than ever.
(Sitri) "I know everyone is terribly confused on where they are and what's happening. I do not have the answers myself, but I assure you, we will."
(Astrid) "We?"
(Sitri) "Yes. With the arrival of so many newcomers from other worlds, and with veterans of this situation being here..."
She nodded again and looked at everyone.
(Sitri) "As leader of Garreg Mach Monastery, I hereby reestablish, House Isekai!"
(Aigis) "Oh?"
(Rean and Towa) "HUH?!"
(Kazuma) "THE FUCK?"
(Buck) "...The hell's an Isekai?"
His squad, Duvalie, and Raelyn shrugged.
(Kurt) "Has...Instructor Rean and Towa done this before?"
Class VII looked at Rean, then back to Sitri.
Jean nodded.
(Jean) "It seems this is not their first time being visited by people from other worlds."
(Diluc) "Hmph, I blame the Traveler for this."
All things considered, the Knights of Favonius looked relatively calm about the situation.
The students of Garreg Mach all had mixed opinions. They didn't view House Isekai in a very good light, but now they HAD to be a part of it.
(Kairos) "This is not going to end well..."
(Elizabeth) "Oh dear."
(Helena) "This oughtta be interesting."
(Stefan) "Hah, that's one way to put it..."
(Astrid) "Goddess help us..."
...
(Sitri's voice) "...I hereby reestablish, House Isekai!"
Mercedes smiled as she heard Sitri's voice through her crystal and put it into her pocket and stretched.
Through the door, a small girl and a fairy came into the room.
(Recette) "Hey Mercie! We got the reports from this month in!"
(Tear) "Yes, it appears to be within...why are you smiling?"
(Mercedes) "I've just been listening into Sitri's progress."
(Recette) "What's going on?"
Mercedes didn't say anything as she motioned them to follow her.
(Sitri) "We have a welcome back party to work on!"
(Tear) "For...who?"
(Mercedes) "Just some old friends..."
The Battle Between Love and Fire-
Ivar the Boneless × Reader
Chapter Thirty-Seven
Chapter Thirty-Eight: The Scare
Word Count 3k
Warnings: slight angst, heavy fluff
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The day after your father's attempt to end your life, you finally gave your best friend a proper burial. You and her mother wept the entirety of that day which you knew was bound to happen. You lost Thyra and you can never bring her back, but her mother informed you continuously that it was not your fault. But deep down, you will always feel a sense of guilt because the man that took her life was none other than your own father. Nonetheless, she is in a better place and is having the best time with the gods above, which brings you as well as her mother, some comfort to this tragedy. After Thyra was buried, her mother went back to Wessex, but not without having this conversation with you:
Helga "Thank you, Y/n. The burial was beautiful."
"Mmm, I am glad that I could do that for her. She did not deserve this." You began to cry again.
Helga "No she didn't, but in the end, she died for what she felt was the right thing to do."
"I would much rather have her here than her gone, Helga. She did not have to sacrifice herself-"
Helga "Your father didn't give her that chance. He killed her because she never left your side. She loved you, she still loves you."
You sniffle, "I loved her all the same. She was my sister, even if we weren't blood, she was always my sister." She nods and wipes a tear off of your cheek.
Helga "And you were hers, my sweet girl."
"Well on the plus side of life as we know it, the king is dead and Wessex will be safe again."
Helga "Oh, that is wonderful isn't it?" You nod, "But who will rule the kingdom?" You still have not thought of the concept because of all of the chaos, so you do not know what to say to her.
"I-For right now, I would like for you to gather a list of good men and women that you think will suit for being in charge, and send me the list. Once I have the letter, I will return to Wessex and give the final decision."
Helga "In charge?"
"Exactly. You see, they will not be a king nor a queen but the kingdom needs a sense of guidance and leadership in order to stay a kingdom." She nods, "But I will return every chance I get to check on everyone, especially you Helga." She smiles, "And as for a king or queen, my daughter will be queen of Wessex when she is of age."
Helga "Oh Y/n, that is so wonderful!"
You smile, "Yes. But my ruling is beside my husband. Wherever he is, I am. Ivar is the king of Kattegat, therefore I am the queen of Kattegat."
Helga "I understand."
"So, when the time comes, my daughter will rule with honor and dignity."
Helga "And so she shall."
"Now, you get home safely, yes?"
Helga "Yes. Thank you again sweetheart."
"You are so welcome." You hug and say your goodbyes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Five Days Later…
Ivar has sent a letter to the prince of Kiev to ask for his approval of traveling to visit. It is only a waiting game as of now.
Hvitserk "He is just going to love you, Y/n."
"Oh yeah?"
Hvitserk "Yes. He is a sucker for beauty such as yours." He caresses your cheek, making you blush.
Ivar "Yes but this time, I will be going there with my own queen." He smiles.
"A very pregnant queen, at that." You say as you rub your growing belly and sigh because you feel huge. You still have a few months to go before your little goddess joins the world but you think to yourself, 'how am I going to get any bigger than this?!'
Ivar "You are glowing, my sweet. You are more than perfect."
"Thank you, my love." He leans down and kisses your lips, "I'm just so excited to meet her."
Hvitserk "She will bring so much joy to our lives."
Ivar "Oh that is certain. As soon as she is born, she will be a new and bright, shining light in all of our lives." You smile at the thought. You and baby girl have gone through so much together and she hasn't even been born yet. She will be told stories about how strong she is and she will learn of her legacy and past ancestors. She will know all and then she will make her own story, create a wonderful life for herself, as you did.
Hvitserk stands up from sitting down on a tree stump and walks over to join his brother in eating some chicken wings. You use your belly as a table as you snack on little bits of whatever you could find. You catch Ivar just staring at you and smirking.
"What?"
Ivar "Oh nothing." Hvitserk chuckles.
"What is it? You were staring."
Ivar "What?! I cannot stare at my beautiful wife?" He shouts, making you giggle.
Tumblr media
"But I am just eating, how can I be-"
Hvitserk "It does not matter, you are always beautiful, Y/n." You don't know what to say. They make you feel so special and so loved that you are lost for words most of the time.
"Thank you, Hvitserk." He winks at you and continues to eat. After a few minutes, Ubbe and Torvi come join you three outside, enjoying the weather. Today is the first warm day of the year which brings your heart joy and warmth.
Torvi "Uh, it is so lovely today." She says as she sits down next to you.
"It is."
Ubbe "Maybe it will melt the little snow that we have left."
"I'm sure that my dragons are enjoying this weather.." you say as you look over at them, playing with each other.
Ivar "Mm, do you remember when they experienced their first snowfall, my love?"
"Oh of course I do. They were so small." You smile at the memory, "Their eyes sparkled!"
Ivar smiles, "It was the cutest thing!"
Hvitserk "Where was I?"
"On a trade shipment with Ubbe." He nods as if he remembered.
Hvitserk "Now we have new memories with them-"
Ubbe "And many more to come, aye?!"
Tumblr media
You smile, "They are such a blessing, aren't they?"
Torvi "A true gift from the gods, just like your daughter." She places her hand on your belly.
"Mmm." That's all you can say, really. You are just so grateful to be carrying this miracle child in your core that you can only say the bare minimum.
Ubbe "So, has Prince Oleg sent a letter yet?"
Ivar "Not yet. He will though, I am sure of it."
Hvitserk "Will you be coming with us, brother?" Ubbe looks over at Torvi and she looks saddened. She hates it when Ubbe is gone for long periods of time, and if he were to go, he would not be home for two weeks. So Ubbe thinks for a moment before answering his brother.
Ubbe "I do not think so."
Ivar "And why is that?"
Ubbe "Because I would like to stay home with my wife and children." Torvi smiles.
Ivar nods, "I see, well, will you look after Kattegat while we are away, huh?"
Ubbe "Of course." You three spend some time together before you all had to attend to your responsibilities.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A Few Hours Later…
"Do you hear that?" Ivar looks over at where the sound is coming from and nods.
Ivar "You go inside and rest-"
You and Ivar have been helping around the village: checking in your people, feeding them and making sure of their wellbeing, while Hvitserk and Ubbe tended to the hunting. You were just about to go inside to rest your body when you heard commotion going on by your dragon's resting rock.
"No, I can rest later." You don't let him respond before you walk off and towards your dragon's. Once you see what the noise was, you were infuriated.
"Hey! They are not toys, get off of them!" To your shock, there are children attempting to get on top of your dragon's, making them very irritated.
Ivar "Aye, you four, c'mere!" Once Ivar joined your side, the kids left your dragon's alone. When the four boys got in front of you two, they could not look either of you in the eye.
"Why would you do that to them? They are not a playground."
"I am sorry, my queen." They said.
"You could have gotten seriously hurt, boys. I care for your safety, as well as my dragon's safety. So please, do not attempt to get on them anymore. Do you promise?"
"We promise." The eldest one said for the four of them.
"Right...you boys run along now." They scatter as soon as you give the order. But soon enough, their parents come to you, begging for their forgiveness.
Ivar "The only person or person's allowed on those dragon's are your queen and I."
"I understand completely, my king." The mother said, "I turned away from them for a second and-"
"They are fast kids." The father said.
"I understand, truly I do. Anything can happen in a matter of minutes or even in the matter of seconds. Your children could have gotten seriously hurt."
Ivar "It is a good thing that your queen heard them in time."
"And I am forever in your debt, my queen." The mother said.
"All I ask from you is to keep a better eye on your boys. I might not be able to come to their aid the next time something occurs."
Ivar "In fact, isn't that your job, hmm? As their parents, you two should watch over them and keep them safe, no?"
"Yes!" They both said.
Ivar "Then keep them safe by keeping them close. If those dragon's weren't kind and gentle, your children could have been eaten in seconds. Do you understand?" They nod.
"Good. Now, I suggest you inform them of what we told you."
"Of course, my queen." The father said.
"Very well, if you'll excuse me." You walk past them and towards your dragon's who are very agitated. You place your hand up for them to sniff you. Once they do, their senses calm instantly.
"I know, I'm here." Neith lays her head down by your feet so that you can pet her scales.
"I won't let anyone use you as their playground. Any of you." You say as you look over at your boys. They blink at you so that you know that they understand you.
"Tomorrow, we can go flying, how does that sound?" All three of them bolt their heads upwards in a playful manner.
"I will take that as a yes." You laugh. You feel a pair of arms wrap around your waist.
Ivar "Are they okay now?"
"They are. They were just confused is all."
Ivar "Mm, I could only imagine how that made them feel."
"I told them that I would fly with them tomorrow. We haven't done that in such a long time..just me and them."
Ivar nods and kisses your forehead, "Just be safe while you fly, hmm?"
"I will." He smiles and takes you inside for the both of you to rest.
As night fell, all you could think about is taking a warm bath and then placing your head on a cold pillow and falling asleep. Your feet were swollen and your legs felt like they were going to break in half so you figured that a warm bath would suffice. Therefore, you asked for a maiden to run one for you, to which she obliged.
Ivar pulls you into his side while you wait for the water to fill up. When you are in his arms, you forget all about being sore.
Ivar "A bath will help, my sweet."
"Mm, I know."
Ivar "Oh look," he looks at the entrance, "the idiot's are back."
"Hey.." he laughs.
Ivar "Sorry, I know." Hvitserk smiles as soon as he locks eyes with the mother of his daughter. He makes his way over to you and he sees how swollen you are and he frowns.
Hvitserk "Are you alright?"
"Oh I am fine. Just been on my feet for too long. The maiden's are running me a bath."
Hvitserk "Oh good." He kisses your head.
Ivar "Any big catch today, my brothers?"
Ubbe "Three deer, a few rabbits.."
Ivar "That is good. Now that it is getting warmer, more food to catch aye?"
Ubbe nods, "That is true."
"My queen, your bath is ready."
"Wonderful, thank you dear." She bows and tends to other matters. "I will be out soon."
Ivar "Do you need help getting in, my love?"
"I think that I can manage." You offer a warm smile before wobbling your way to the bathroom.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As you undress to get into the tub, you realize how hard it is to balance by yourself. Your feet are the size of pumpkins *to you, they feel like they are* and your legs feel like they are about to go numb from the aching. You try and hurry to get yourself into the tub before you physically can't do it yourself. But in rushing, you fall short of breath and have to take a breather by the vanity. You look at yourself in the mirror and realize that this feeling is not a burden, it is a pleasure to be able carry a human within you. This calms down your breathing but you hear a knock on the door, making you hurry up to cover yourself.
"Uhm, who is it?"
Hvitserk "It is me."
"Oh, come in." When he enters, he offers a small smile.
Hvitserk "I had to come to see if you made it in safely..."
You sigh, "I am kind of glad that you did."
Hvitserk "How can I help?"
"I can't get the back of my dress." He walks over and undoes your dress and helps you into the tub without hesitation. "Thank you." Your eyes begin to close as the warmth of the water sinks into your skin and through your bones. Hvitserk kneels down and sits by the tub.
Hvitserk "Of course, kitten. I'll always be there to help you."
"And I will do the same for you, Hvitserk." He giggles, "What?"
Hvitserk "Nothing, sweetheart. You are just so sweet is all."
"I try to be. All of the time...it's draining.." you sigh as he begins to play with your hair.
Hvitserk "I know this to be true. I try to be as kind as you but sometimes it gets me nowhere.."
Tumblr media
"I suppose I am the way I am because of my parents."
Hvitserk "That is why. Our parents shape us, but our pain and suffering strengthens us."
"You are right."
Hvitserk smiles, "Are you feeling a little better now?"
"You always make me feel better Hvitserk."
Hvitserk chuckles, "No I meant, is the bath helping you."
"Oh, yes it is. Thank gods.."
Hvitserk nods, "Good. That makes me happy, love. But, I will be outside if you need me, I am starving." He kisses your head.
"Okay." You say as you laugh. As he leaves, you can't stop smiling.
When you get out of the tub, your muscles are so relaxed that you had to force yourself to get out of the warm bath to get to your bed. You can't take the chance of falling asleep submerged in water, gods know what could have happened if you did. So without hesitation, you got out of your bath and slipped on a soft robe and made your way to the door. As you open it, Ivar is waiting for you on the bed.
Ivar "My sweet, how was your bath?"
"It was divine!"
Ivar "Mm, that is good." He smiles and then he frowns.
"Ivar, what is it?"
Ivar "Nothing Y/n, I've come to the realization that Hvitserk has not had the pleasure of your company in quite some time."
"Oh, yes I know. Just with the battle and everything, I needed to be by my husband's side at all times." He smiles and kisses your lips.
Tumblr media
Ivar "I love you so much, do you know that?"
"I do, I know it well. I love you too, beloved." He kisses you again but more passionately, making you both moan.
Ivar "You go ahead. You can sleep with him tonight if you'd like."
"Are you certain?"
Ivar "Absolutely. I always seem to forget that that little princess in there is not truthfully mine, she is my brother's-"
"She is still your daughter, Ivar. Just in a different way."
Ivar smiles from ear to ear, "I know she is, but I have to be kind...you taught me to be kind and loving. So, yes..go be with him tonight. If you need me, you know where to find me."
"Sweet dreams, my love." You kiss him once again.
Ivar "You as well, princess." You are so happy that Ivar said those words because you were hoping to be with Hvitserk tonight. You haven't been in his arms since the night before the battle. With great haste, you made your way to Hvitserk's room. He was already in a sleep state when you opened the door and found him on his bed.
Hvitserk "Hey..is every-"
"I just wanted to be with you tonight, is that okay?" He rises from his position and opens his arms for you. You allow him to engulf you with his arms and immediately feel a sense of tranquility run through your body.
Hvitserk "I was hoping that you would be with me tonight. It's been so long."
"I know. Ivar suggested it because we have not been able too, so I was not going to refuse his offer." You laugh.
Hvitserk "I am glad that you are here, kitten." He kisses your head but you pull his face down and towards your lips. He captures them with love and affection. It feels like the very first time he ever kissed you and that feeling is one of the best feelings that you have ever experienced.
Hvitserk "I love you."
"And I love you back." He smiles and kisses you again. After a while, you both fell asleep in each other's embrace. Today had its obstacles, but it ended in a wonderful way.

Vanitas x OC : The Moon's Curse
Tumblr media
This is a fanfiction about the manga Vanitas no Carte with my oc in it. I started writing in 2017-2018 so I apologize if you find typos since I am mostly writing on my phone.
Airship : La Baleine
Tumblr media
I was in La Baleine, heading to Paris, this airship is really amazing. People were chatting about rumors that vampires appeared, and I could hear people wondering about vampires' existence.
In the crowd, I noticed a lady looking rather ill and she looked on the verge of fainting if it wasn't for a gentleman with dark skin, short silvery white hair and purple eyes catching her, the curiosity got the best of me as I approached them at their table.
"...You're too kind. Thank you." The lady said towards the man.
"Not at all. Are you sure I can't take you to the infirmary ?" The man asked, maybe worried for her.
"Yes... I think I'll be all right if I rest a little bit." She explained but then the man got his face close to her own, making her flustered.
'I think he should know what "personnal space" is...'
"...You do look pale though. I'm worried..." He expressed in concern, showing no ill intentions.
I crouched down to be at the lady's level. "I think he is right, you do look kind of sick..." I softly expressed in my turn.
The both of them turned their gazes at me with a surprised expression showing on their face as I bowed my head. "Pardon the intrusion."
"I-It's only anemia. Please don't trouble yourselves !" The pale lady exclaimed at us. "I'm... on my way to see a doctor now. There are... special circumstances... I don't intend to let any other doctor examine me." She explained. "So, um... Thank you very much." She said it but I didn't know if it was also meant for me or only for the tanned man.
He distanced himself hearing her words and from the corner of my eye I could see a shadow for a brief instant before it jumped, making the lady beside me shrieked in fear but then I realized that it was only a cat with white fur and heterochromical eyes, one was blue while the other was pink, the cat landed on the lady's laps.
"Ah ! Hey, Murr !" The man exclaimed looking at what I assumed to be the cage of the cat now known as Murr before getting his eyes back on him.
"Oh my. My, my, my ! How sweet !" The girl didn't really seem to be bothered by Murr's presence in fact and I decided to stand back straight since my back was beginning to hurt me because of the crouched position.
This lady embraced the cat, seeming visibly happy. "...Fufu ! He's so warm..." She commented. "Um... I'm Amelia." She presented herself. "If you don't mind, might I ask your name ?" She adressed to the man and myself.
He looked kind of surprised to me before answering. "Of course ! His name is Murr ! Please ! Do call him by it !" He answered, gesturing to the white cat.
"Oh ! No... I didn't mean the cat..." she explained, seeming taken aback by his answer before turning to me.
I looked at her as I introduced myself, putting a hand on my chest as I spoke softly. "My name is Cyndelle."
"This is an announcement for all passengers." We heard a voice coming from the speakers. "As per its original schedule, La Baleine... ...will be arriving in Paris in approximately one hour." It explained as Murr's owner suddenly stood up from his seat. "Although it has nearly reached its end... ...Please enjoy the remainder... ...of your journey through the skies." The speakers finished on that sentence as the white haired man went to a window of La Baleine to see outside.
"PARIS !!!" The man exclaimed in excitement. "Paris ! Where is Paris, Mademoiselle Amelia and Mademoiselle Cyndelle !?" He wondered as he couldn't keep moving.
"Um... I don't think we can see it from here yet..." She explained to him, looking astonished by his sudden behavior.
"Is that right !? ............ What a pity." He said, now dissapointed. "Still, it's amazing, isn't it !?" He asked, his excitement coming back. "Once you board an airship, it's really no time at all before you're in Paris !" He looked through the glass with an appreciative look.
"... Is this your first time aboard an airship, then ?" Amelia asked him.
"Whatever gave it away !?" He asked, still not getting his face of the window.
"Were you trying to hide it !?" We both wondered but not in the same tone, mine was as soft as ever while Amelia spoke in bewilderment.
"...I lived shut away in the forests of Averoigne for ages. I've never seen an airship this large before, let alone traveled on one." He explained to us.
"I've never been on an airship before too." I hummed in understanding for him.
"Aver... ?" Amelia wondered about where he lived.
"It's terribly deep in the country. I doubt you'd know it." He told us. "To think they're able to set this much weight floating in the sky... The power of astermite is tremendous, isn't it ?" He wondered aloud, not waiting for an answer. "I hear Paris is a steam-powered city to rival even London. I'm already looking forward to landing there." He said, keeping his gaze outside.
Amelia stared at him before tilting her head to the side as I, myself too, fixed my gaze outside the window. "...Are you visiting Paris for sightseeing ?" She asked.
"No. I'm looking for something." He answered.
""Something"...?" Amelia repeated, wanting to know what the something was and I have to admit that I wanted to know too.
"The Book of Vanitas." I now fixed my gaze on him at his words. "Have you heard of it ? It appears in a bed time story, "The Vampire of the Blue Moon." It's the name of a cursed book." He explained.
"Once upon a time, in a certain place... ...There lived a hated vampire known as "Vanitas."" He began to tell. "Vampires are ordinarily born on the night of a crimson full moon. However, for some reason, Vanitas was born on the night of a blue full moon, a symbol of misfortune. Everyone was afraid of Vanitas, and they ran him out of the village. Vanitas was all alone in the forest. Frightened of the darkness, freezing in the snow, he wandered and wandered. And in his heart of hearts, he swore...
...Vengeance on vampires born on the night of a crimson moon.
Foolish vampires who persecuted me ! When this book is opened, a curse more terrible than death will befall you !!
A blue leather cover and jet-black pages... A clockwork grimoire linked to a silver chain... It was a special book created by Vanitas, imbued with the power to interfere with vampires' true names."
The clock that we could see resoned 9.00 as the man tried to take back his cat who didn't look very pleased.
"That time already ?" He wondered. "We'll need to prepare to disembark soon. I'll escort you both to your room, Mlle Amelia and Mlle Cyndelle." The gentleman told us.
We began to follow him and I walked in order to be beside him.
"Is there something wrong ?" He asked me politely with a raised eyebrow.
I gently shook my head. "If you don't mind... Could I stay with you when we'll land ?" I requested.
He seemed surprised by my request. "Why that ?"
"Because..." I paused in my words, looking upwards. "You and I are looking for the same thing." I mumbled softly.
He glanced at me with a bewildered expression and looked like he was about to say something but got cut off by the speakers.
"---From this point on, passengers will be unable to use the onboard facilities. Those who are not yet prepared to disembark should---"
"That story..." Amelia's voice was heard from behin in a whisper. "The book of Vanitas... Do you think a thing like that... truly exist ?" She asked.
"... I don't know." The polite man answered honestly. "However... ...I received a letter that said... ..."Its existence has been confirmed in Paris." Does the book of Vanitas really exist... ...or not ? I'm going to Paris to see for myself." He explained with a determined look on his face.
When we turned around, Amelia was on the floor. "! Mlle. Amelia !?" The man exclaimed in worry before reaching a hand towards her as I did the same. "Are you all right...?"
"Don't touch me !!" She screamed and the street lamp behind us shattered as our eyes widened in shock.
Murr hissed as Amelia went to grab the fence behind her to stand up. "Mademoiselle Amelia, you're..."The man beside me began in a breathless way. "...a vampire..." We both finished as we could see her eyes being red and shining.
Her canines showed up and we looked up as we heard a sound of glass shattering to see a man entering the airship to our surprise.
"What...?" Amelia wondered, obviously lost just like us.
"Found... ...yooou !!"The man screamed, charging toward Amelia.
"...Hm." The man looked at his left to see the tanned gentleman with Amelia in his arms and me by his side.
"I thought I had you there. What're you ?" He asked.
This was a young man with bluish dark wavy hair and light blue eyes. One side of his hair was cut shorter than the other in an asymmetrical fashion, with one level on the left side, and two levels on the right. His left ear was embedded with two ear buds and a dangling hourglass earring. His outfit consisted of a baggy coat with hanging sleeves and a tail that bells out and floats. One side of the coat often slips off his shoulder. Underneath, he wears a striped vest and a belt. He was also wearing spats and short boots on his feet and pointed gloves on his hands and a large light blue bow is wrapped around his waist.
And I didn't know why but I felt something when I saw him...
