Idk if this is an unpopular opinion or more of an observation: this fandom is very much not normal about gay men. It makes a 100% sense that conversations about homophobia in the fandom mainly are about sapphic swifties, because they are a huge part of the fandom and face intense harassment. Men generally are less prominent within the fandom, so I see why people don't always think about how they are spoken about. However, because of this and the fact that "twitter gays" are enemy of the state for swifties on that platform because of their frequent dislike of Taylor, it can feel like homophobia geared towards gay men is a free for all. And I don't just mean the absolutely horrendous comments people leave on Twitter, but also the way people talk about Joe's "lack" of masculinity or make jokes about him being bi* in a way that reduce (male) bisexuality to something ridiculous. Even the anon you got after somebody said Joe would have been good in Challengers felt (unintentionally) dismissive of him potentially playing a gay role. Why is that? This might also be a tumblr thing where the demographic of the website is a bit different then on twitter, but the fact that one of the main groups that regularly get harrassed by Swifties are gay men is frequently ignored and that rubs me the wrong way, and I think it relates to how the fandom in general talks about gender and sexuality.
*addition: the assumption that Joe must be queer because of his quiet demeanor or the field he works in was huge in the fandom at some point and it has always felt icky to me and very much tied to traditional gender roles, which is something this fandom is very infected by. But this was also very en vogue in gaylor spaces, for obvious reasons, but there is also a convo to be had about how gay women don't always treat gay men with dignity or respect. (Their male privilege is not a catch all excuse.)
you're preaching to the choir here. it stems from the same issues of misogyny and homophobia as the anti-wlw sentiments though. like, it's wrong for women to express sexual desire over another woman, especially one like taylor, whose femininity is pretty paramount to her persona. and in comparison to uber-masculine travis, joe becomes "gay," just like josh kushner was called gay in kaylor circles because of his ~mannerisms~ or perceived lack of masculinity. there are many other things to say about this phenomenon but it should be very obvious to everyone by now that swifties (like the rest of the world, but it's highly visible in this fandom due to who taylor is and how she looks) have very intense opinions about what femininity and masculinity should look like. and if someone in the universe steps out of line then it's criticized pretty openly.

I totally agree with your opinion on Z0$an.
For me, I really enjoy their canon dynamic and can see why people ship them but then when I see most fan content of them it bothers me because most of the time they’re being mischaracterized and I only like their very specific canon dynamic (I can’t really describe it). Additionally it bothers me when certain moments for other ships that involve one of the two get interpreted as platonic when these same moments would be seen as romantic if they were between Zoro and Sanji. For example basically every Sanuso moment but especially in Water 7 and Enies Lobby or the most egregious example, the „Nothing happened“ moment.
Yeah,,, It bothers me that most people are so intense and adamant about Sanuso/Zolu's scenes being platonic when those same scenes would've been perceived as romantic with Zo$an. And I am honestly somebody who keeps reaching a lot and looking for content in every little scene, but that's because idk, Sanuso (for example) doesn't have as much content as Zo$an. These shippers don't need to make everything about their ship for content and they don't even need any proof of it being canon, and yet they keep making other ship's scenes about them (the "nothing happened" scene could be seen as Zo$an too but c'mon we all know that's a Zolu thing. And the new art of Reiju and Tashigi??? I'm sorry but can we please let the sapphics have this one color spread instead of making it about the most popular ship of the fandom?).
That being said, I don't care about people doing this because they like the ship and like to look for content in every little thing (I do it too!!). What bothers me aren't Zo$an shippers (I even ship this myself lmao I know it looks like I hate it but I don't) but Zo$an shippers who genuinely believe this is actual proof for the ship being canon or saying other ships are "wrong" or "don't make sense". De nile is a river in Egypt and these people need to understand that probably 80% of their content is mischaraterized because they keep ignoring the beautiful, precious potential they have in their already canon dynamic. And also, your ship doesn't need to be canon to be enjoyed like... Some people need to understand that.
Long story short, I like Zo$an when it's in character and people don't force it down my throat. It's really sad because I think that Zo$an, despite being so popular, has a lot of wasted potential.
Also, don't mention Sanuso being underrated in comparison to Zo$an because I will end up writing a whole paragraph and nobody wants drama-- I prefer to blame Usopp haters rather than other ships for its unpopularity. But uh, yeah, a lot of scenes between Usopp and Sanji are extremely romantic and the fact that it's underrated (when other ships have more attention having less romantic scenes) bothers me quite a lot. But then again, I think one of the main reasons is because Usopp is criminally underrated.

💛💚💜🤍🖤💕🏳️‍🌈 for b5 >:DDD
I want all of them but I am being So Good and not asking for all of them ;_;
for this meme
ooooh excellent choices, and yes you are being so good <333 i am very proud of your restraint
💛<__< >__> i don't know if it's accurate to say i can't get behind them but i'm not really into londo/g'kar. years ago i probably would have been 'fuck yeah londo/g'kar!' but over time ive just come to prefer their relationship as a complicated frenemy situation, i'm not even sure i see g'kar liking londo so much as he understands and pities him and feels a loyalty to him because of their shared history. i'm also increasingly a bit hmmm re sheridelenn but mostly because jms really sucks at writing relationships and the further it went on the more delenn just got slotted into the wife role rip s1 delenn
💚treating neroon's deathbed conversion as legit and not just a political manouvre. that man doesn't have a priestly bone in his body >:( also special mention for chad neroon, a characterisation that has marred many a marcus/neroon fic. and generally any characterisation where neroon gets over his xenophobia too quickly!
💜i will die on the hill that branmer is sexy and evil idk if it's really unpopular in fandom to say neroon is hot but we do periodically get people going 'ew neroon????' so i'm just gonna throw down for my guy 😤😤😤
🤍shakiri i joke, i joke, but more seriously my answer for this is less one specific character and more broadly that i think the entire situation with the castes was probably more complicated than what we see on the show (or the books) and it's interesting that people tend to take unapolagetic villain shakiri as being representative of the caste generally, rather than neroon, who is more ambivalent (while still being a dick haha). i find the whole religious caste = good, warrior caste = bad stuff very reductive especially since we see many in show examples of the religious caste absolutely fucking unhinged. i also think it's v interesting that no one in the warrior caste really put up a fight when shakiri got backstabbed by neroon and defeated by delenn in the starfire wheel. i guess you could put that down to minbari having an intense respect for tradition and ritual but... this is also a caste that just broke a thousand year minbari do not kill minbari rule and idk... it just speaks to something interesting going on behind the scenes with this guys!
🖤delenn, haha. this is probably my most controversial opinion and it's one i've touched on before. i don't think delenn is evil (and disclaimer: she is one of my fave characters), but she is cunning and manipulative and she's prone to letting her own personal biases rule her understanding of a situation which leads to some, uh, interesting choices on her part. basically i don't think delenn is the trustworthy source on the minbari, on her own choices, or on broader issues in the b5 galaxy that she gets treated as by fandom lol. like, for example i don't entirely believe what delenn says about why they had to leave the narn to face the centauri/shadows alone, i think that's just what she told herself to justify the decision. im also, idk, iffy about the whole not ever telling sheridan about her role in the war. i saw a post on here where someone was saying this was her great 'gift' to him and it just... ew. ick. no. fuck no. i understand why she doesn't tell him, but it's not a gift
💕i feel like marcus/neroon gets a bad rap and a lot of people being sniffy about it, but also enough people appreciate it that i can't really call it unpopular exactly so um. hmm. i do, sigh, i do have a growing fondness for neroon/sheridan actually >__> which probably isn't so much unpopular as non-existant apart from your amazing neroon/delenn/sheridan fic. i have a feeling that neroon-as-the-bridge is gonna end up going down the sheridan/neroon route if i write more of it haha
🏳️‍🌈 oh this, this is a tough one haha... tbh... londo i guess? he just comes across very... straight male to me >__> like at most i can see him having a drunken fumble with a friend and thinking nothing of it, but that's it.
thank you for the ask! <33333

thank you lol i thought no one was going to ask me anything
Favorite Great House
um...this is kind of a hard question like...in terms of vibe/region/history or in terms of evaluating the actual family/characters? Because in terms of which contemporary to the series family dynamic I find most interesting it does have to be the Lannisters but if you look more at lore and history and the region I think it would maybe be Greyjoy or Stark.
A quote so good it makes you crazy
god first off I really need to reread. this is the first scene that came to mind, though.
"Can I dwell on what I scarce remember? I held a castle on the Marches once, and there was a woman I was pledged to marry, but I could not find that castle today, nor tell you the color of that woman's hair. Who knighted me, old friend? What were my favorite foods? It all fades. Sometimes I think I was born on the bloody grass in that grove of ash, with the taste of fire in my mouth and a hole in my chest. Are you my mother, Thoros?"
chills every time!
What’s something people get wrong about your favorite character?
um. my favorite character is probably Catelyn if I had to pick one and I feel like it's hard to come up with something because I don't think I really have any unpopular takes among Catelyn appreciators, the unpopular opinion is that I am a Catelyn appreciator. Like obviously I disagree with the people who hate her or find her uninteresting, so I would say the general population of fans is sleeping on her. Actually even among my Trusted ASOIAF Mutuals who have generally good Catelyn opinions and like her I feel like she just doesn't garner as intense interest as a lot of other characters. IDK, I feel like I'm definitely in a tiny tiny minority of people who would list Catelyn as their very favorite or even top few characters so there's just like a lot less discussion and analysis of her to agree with or disagree with.
So maybe I should answer this question for Theon who is my other favorite character. I've definitely seen other Theon fans agree with me here, but I think it's definitely a minority opinion in general fandom--I think Theon can and should survive the series, and I actually will be really disappointed if he doesn't (not just like oh no my fave died, I actually think it would be a bad narrative choice. Whereas like, if Jaime dies I will be upset personally but I think there are a lot of good narrative routes for him that end in death and I think Theon narratively needs to live.) Also, this is more a theory/opinion than a character/narrative evaluation, I guess, but it's even more unpopular: I think Theon will/should end up in charge of the Iron Islands. I'm not 100% confident about this, except when I get in my head about it and start going I Perceived This With My Third Eye. Anyway.

FIRST: Looks to the Moon! And if you want to Hunter as well?
HEHE YOU KNOW ME SO WELL <3
Fav thing about them:
Moon: Her. Just her. Her entire adorable being. Her structure, how calming it is to be inside it. The way she hangs upside down on her rig a lot, especially when examining you. Her cute nicknames for you. The way she thanks you for bringing her things. Her lil beepy voice she has before giving you the mark. Everything. Her personality, her puppet, her breathtaking structure. I can’t choose one and I will not.
Hunter: Her story! How selfless her mission is, and how she’s a little creature doing her best to save someone she’s never even met before. She uses her limited time to save someone who suffers the same fate as her—body breaking down, seizing and collapsing. I also like that she’s pink :)
Least fav thing about them?
Moon: Impossible. Nothing.
Hunter: I guess…how neglected she is? She’s never anyone’s favorite campaign (just get good at the game, scrubs), and she was the only scug that didn’t get an updated ending/attention in downpour. Obviously artihunter means she’s popular within the fandom, but game-wise a lot of ppl seem to forget about her, when it’s honestly a REALLY fun campaign!
Favorite Line:
Moon: “And so clearly, this forced broadcast is directed to you, Five Pebbles.”
Idk what it is about this line specifically, but I legit cannot read it without bursting into tears. I managed to hold it together but I read that line in her broadcast and just lost it. I cried for like 30 minutes and had to go hug my mom.
Hunter: Obviously she doesn’t speak in the game, but here’s one of my fav line(s) from a fic Im writing:
Tumblr media
She’s very proud of her name :)
brOTP
Moon: Is it weird to say Moon and Ruffles? It’s so cute that Moon named her and Ruffles seems to stay around even after the campaign. I headcanon that Rivulet struck out on her own to find out who she was, and after many adventures, decided that Ruffles was who she was.
Hunter: Ruffles too!! I see them having a cute sibling dynamic thanks to lilypad :3
OTP
Moon: LILYPAD OF COURSE!! DOOMED YURI MY BELOVED !!! Sig n Moons personalities work together so well and I love them sm ;-;
Hunter: APPLE JUICE!!! Monk x Hunter!!! I would have said artihunter but apple juice has captured my heart so hard i can’t help it.
nOTP
Moon: I don’t rlly like Eclipse but that’s just cuz I hc Moon is a lesbian. Also Waning Crescent/Slivermoon just doesn’t do it for me.
Hunter: Cherrypie…sorry cherrypie enjoyers I just can’t see it :( I feel like gourmand would see Hunter as more of a daughter figure.
Random Headcanon:
Moon: BEEPS! She beep-snorts when she laughs and often tries to hide it but Sig has made it her life mission to make Moon beep-snort-laugh as much as possible hehe
Hunter: She acts a LOT like Sig. Despite her ferocity in battle, she’s pretty goofy and playful during less intense moments. She also considers herself as Sig and Moon’s daughter (as do they)
Unpopular Opinion:
Moon: SHE IS NOT JUST “BORING FEMALE CHARACTER.” She has personality! She’s insanely stubborn when it comes to using her seniority privileges and obviously takes her role as local group senior very seriously. She is “nice and kind” but that doesn’t make her flat/stereotypical. Of course she’s gonna be nice to the player, you’re a little helpless animal.
Hunter: PLAY HER CAMPAIGN. PLEASE. It is not as daunting as you think it is, ESPECIALLY if you’ve beaten downpour cats! It IS challenging, but for me it really brings back the spirit of the original game: youre a helpless little creature. You can’t generate spears out of your ass, you can’t make explosives, all you can do is run slightly faster and throw spears slightly harder. You have to use your wit and skill to get through it, but it is so worth it.
Song I associate with them
Moon: Afterlife by Shadow Cliq
Hunter: No Mercy by DeathByRomy (it’s an artihunter song but god it goes hard)
Favorite Picture of Them:
Tumblr media
MEWNIE…
Tumblr media
And not to suck my own dick here or anything but this is my fav drawing i’ve done of hunter, my new year’s resolution was to learn to draw scugs so here’s my fav drawing of her i’ve done so far :3

Hiiii if ur still doing the ship ask game duncney and zeemien if that’s okay? 👍
Duncney: i do like them. theyre soo easy to ship for me
What made you ship it? ummumum basic straining lol. before that it was fear factor and before that it was dodgebrawl years ago when i first saw it lol
What are your favorite things about the ship? I love how they initially look like such opposites but they are very similar in a lot of ways (which people dont see???) They are equally as schemey, just courtney is way less interested in admitting that and duncans the one that has to coax it out of her. Theyre so gifted quiet kid and obnoxious problem kid the teacher put next to eachother to try to get the problem kid to be better but it just makes the quiet gifted kid worse
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? theyre this image except courtneys on the left and duncans on the right
Tumblr media
Zeemien: idk im pretty neutral.
Why don’t you ship it? i see it sometimes and its cute but it doesnt super catch my eye? they are both very down to earth characters and putting two characters with such a low intensity together has to have something special to make me actively like it yk. like for sure i would not give a shit about gidgette if it wasnt canon lol.
What would have made you like it? I think its just kinda inherently a ship i dont have many eyes for. not that canon interaction is the only thing that will make me ship something, but i just dont remember anything notable between them that i cared about in any way compared to their interactions with anyone else. I think in general i dont rly see zee ships bc hes just... like....... that. like i can totally see him alone and happy which is the best case scenario for these characters LOL
Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it? theyre fun and cute. I see why people ship it, i just like... dont lol. they have some pretty dedicated fans out there like there was a ship poll on twitter and they won that bc one person kept submitting them lmao?????

For ask game Hunter/Luz, their poly with Amity(and maybe Willow??xD) and mmmm King/Collector?👉👈
Lunter
What made you ship it? - they just have really good chemistry! like, idk, it's such a slamdunk of an otp - plucky naive optimistic protagonist slowly learning that her actions have consequences and that she has to go out and make the life she wants to have vs waiting for it to just happen to her, with a strong moral center and a desire to help meets abused captive prince in service to the evil emperor and gets through to him with The Power Of Friendship, putting him on the path to questioning the regime he's served for his entire life? What's More Classic Than That? and they're such foils to each other, too. Hunter is literally living the YA fantasy protagonist life that Luz wants in the beginning, except she's mentally living in like DragonLance and he's in a Joe Abercrombie novel - she's in classic swords n sorcery fantasy and Hunter is living in gritty grimdark low fantasy. having a 'destiny' fucking sucks, actually. it was all just a lie used to control him, and even when he still believed it he felt constrained and suffocated by it. their relationship is just so fascinating to me too because they have such an intense bond with each other, despite not necessarily being like... that close? they know each other's most damaging secrets, even though they're both better friends with other members of the group. they rely on each other so much. holy codependence! and for all the contrast between them, they have a lot of things in common too! Hunter's also a very optimistic person, it's just that his life sucks so bad all his best case scenarios are still completely horrible. they both have personal experiences with loss and alienation, they both tend to take on more than they can handle and hold themselves responsible for things beyond their control, they both have huge guilt complexes, they both cope through fiction and fantasy lives... they just have a really solid relationship, and adding romance and/or sex to it feels like a very natural evolution of what's already there.
What are your favorite things about the ship? - uhhh i think i kind of already said most of that up there, lmao... i just love how well they play off of each other, how similar and different they are, the way that Hunter is literally living the life Luz thought she wanted, the way they both see themselves and each other as leaders of the group and feel like the others depend on them...
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? - the potential pseudo-incest angle of them being found family only makes it better tbh i'm not really sure because i'm not 100% sure what the popular vs unpopular opinions about the ship are! i think the hand-wringing about how shipping Luz and Hunter erases Lumity is kinda dumb - no amount of shipping is going to take away the canon relationship, and a lot of it ends up sounding like "well she's Not As Queer if she's involved with a guy" which is uhhh biphobic hmm... i definitely don't think Hunter is actually any more responsible or less impulsive than Luz, he's just better at rationalizing and has more actual experience with military logistics and mission planning. also my ideal dynamic for them is like, Bitter Academic Rivals/Collaborators (they're both at once, yes, even and especially if they're fucking) - i want them to end up being researchers into glyph magic who work together fantastically but also vocally trash each other's methods and conclusions from time to time and are in fierce competition.
the rest of it is under the cut!
Lumiter
What made you ship it? - the fact that i love Lunter and also don't want to break up Lumity and also love polyshipping, tbh. also, Hunter and Amity have a really fascinating dynamic as metamours
What are your favorite things about the ship? - the poly dynamics, definitely, and specifically the relationship between Hunter and Amity - i just think those two have a ton of incredibly fascinating potential! Hunter and Luz are so close and know so many of each other's worst secrets, but Hunter and Amity both know what it's like to grow up in an emotionally abusive, controlling home, which is something that none of the other kids can relate to at all. so i just love the fact that they share that and i love to think about them relating to each other more deeply on that basis and being able to understand and comfort each other in ways that neither of them can really get from the others, because sometimes it just... no matter how kind or sympathetic or understanding someone else is, there is just often something different about the quality of understanding from someone who's gone through similar trauma, things about the experience of being abused and traumatized that you can both relate to each other about that others can't - often not even big things, either, but just kind of littler more mundane aspects of the experience that can feel so unreal and bizarre and alienating to live with until you find someone else who knows what it's like
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? - i don't think that Amity being a lesbian necessarily precludes her from being sexually involved with Hunter in some capacity in a poly scenario, and personally i find it a lot more interesting to explore how her lesbian identity might impact the ways she sees and engages with him sexually than to just blanket declare it totally off-limits and forbidden to even think about.
Lumiter + Willow is very similar tbh - i love big poly clusterfucks, i love a whole friendgroup who are all kinda in love with each other, i definitely love Luz/Willow and Amity/Willow action (and the potential for awkwardness there, PLUS the potential for like, Hunter and Amity getting really competitive over who's a better significant other...)
King/Collector
What made you ship it? - i don't know if i'm like an active shipper of it but i think it's cute! they have a lot in common and a lot to connect about, both being long-lived extremely powerful beings, and i think that they could easily end up being extremely important to each other. they also exist as narrative foils to each other and bounce off each other in really interesting ways.
What are your favorite things about the ship? - i think just seeing it as kind of a domestication arc sort of thing! it's sort of a Beauty and the Beast type of scenario, except the beastlike demonic creature is the Beauty and the more or less humanoid one is the Beast! the Collector is what King could have ended up like, if he hadn't been taken in by Eda and raised like a person. the Collector is obviously a very neglected and very traumatized kid, whose only company for the last couple of centuries has been A Literal Fucking Serial Killer And Child Predator, so like, of course they don't understand the value of another person's life or have a very robust sense of morality - they've spent the last couple centuries watching Philip break his toys over and over again and just make a new one whenever, and that's been his only social contact at all. so there's an element of tragedy, a "there but for the grace of God go i", and i think that puts King in the best position to reach the Collector and show him that there's a different way to be. King could extend that helping hand and offer them care and support, including the extremely loving action of "telling someone when they are being a huge asshole and alienating everyone around them with their own behavior." also, they're just little guys, it would be so cute?? like what an adorable pre-adolescent baby crush scenario. and maybe them being bffs who grow up and develop feelings for each other... so many cute options!
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? - uhhhh i truly do not know because i have no idea what the actual opinions are here. sorry!

Hey there, moderator. I'm wondering if it's fine to ask you questions about your own warriors opinions? Such as:
favorite or least favorite character, ship, book, or arc
any unpopular opinions? something you like that most people dislike, or something you dislike that most people like
what your ideal warriors rewrite looks like
any ocs you would like to share
other people are always sending in their opinions so i'm curious about your own opinions. I apologize if you have answered some of these questions already and I didn't see
oooh thank you for sending these! i’ve actually answered most of them before in the past but as i’ve said my opinions change a lot, esp regarding favourites, so i’m always going to answer differently lol
my favourite character is tigerclaw. i don’t care what anyone says, early warriors he was a good, complex villain and every other villain after wishes they were as good as him. he had a lot of potential and i really hate how in tpb there were a lot of throw away concepts, particularly regarding his character. least favourite off the top of my head is hmm jayfeather. interesting character but his awful personality and the fact that in the end he doesn’t actually do anything major made me lose interest in him. i love him in fanon tho.
worst ship: nightheart/sunbeam makes me vomit atm. i’m a big shadowsight/sunbeam fan rn they are so gay. tnp was a pretty boring arc but had interesting ideas, and i think pot wasnt very good at all but i think the characters had potential.
unpopular opinions (?)...the prophecies begins had its issues but imo will always be the most well written story from the erins. while i don’t like the way they are written sometimes purely for annoying repetitive conflict, i do like tigerheart and onestar as characters and leaders. breezepelt and nightcloud are good characters and i love crowfeather’s complex relationship with them. silverstream didnt do shit shes literally another average love interest idk why theres intense hatred for her.
i was actually writing a rewrite for tpb but eventually it just became an original work that i really enjoy working on. but my ideal warriors, unrelated to my work, is sort of like: there’s no code so the cats being ‘wild and free’ makes more sense, the clowders are one and there are no borders. conflict mostly comes from scrapping for food, family drama, drama between families, and murder. the clowders see other cats as equals, and are mostly indifferent on kittypets but are interested in their relationship with humans as they are rarely seen in the woods. annd i think less evil dictators as antagonists.
i actually do not have any warriors ocs </3 but i will share my ocs from my story soon once i get some stuff worked out. idk if it will be on here tho or on my main

I am going to cause riot 😌😉
Question 1, 2, 5 and 6 for death note please.
Question 8 for atla.
Lol, thank you for the ask!
1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?
For Death Note specifically, I'd say the only OTPs I don't really get are Light x Misa and then when Ryuk gets shipped with anybody. I'm not against anyone shipping these pairings, I just personally don't see it. The entire story of Death Note to me shows that Light x Misa are not good together, and Light doesn't love her, and Light comes across as gay or asexual in my opinion. But I guess if people are just shipping them in an unhealthy way I can understand it. And then Ryuk just doesn't make sense with anyone to me lol. I mean I'm down for monster fucking type ships (I enjoy Rem x Misa), but Ryuk comes across as asexual and I just can't see him ever being interested in anyone like that.
2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?
I'm not sure there's any pairing that I only see as a BroTP, but I guess I see L x Matsuda as more of a BroTP than an OTP. I like the idea of them as L as the older brother who is condescending towards his younger brother Matsuda. L does bully Matsuda quite a bit throughout the series lol so I can see them more as family or close friends in some ways.
5. Do you have a NoTP in Death Note?
I don't personally enjoy any incest type ships, so anything where it's like Light with his family or L with Watari is a no go for me.
6. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
Oh boy you might get me in trouble with this one lmao. Yeah, the Death Note fandom definitely ruined lawlight for me for awhile there. When I first joined the fandom, I was really into the fanart and most of the fanfics for lawlight, but idk it felt so everywhere and in my face all the time, so I started to get bored of it. I was more interested in the crack ships or rare pairs for the series because I didn't see them as often. And lawlight never quite gave me the same emotions lawmane did anyway. But then some folks would accuse you of homophobia if you shipped something other than lawlight, and that particularly annoyed me because I am gay. I think the fandom has gotten a lot less intense about it now though, so I'm enjoying lawlight again even if it's not one of my favorite pairings, but I definitely don't have the enthusiasm for it that I could have if the ship hadn't been ruined for me in my starting days in the fandom.
8. Unpopular opinion about ATLA?
I'm not sure how unpopular this opinion is (I always feel like there's a lot of hate towards Katara for this but I don't really know for sure if there is), but I very firmly believe that Katara had every right to threaten to kill Zuko and not accept him with open arms when he first joined the gaang. I mean I think people really ignore her perspective on this. She was the first one to trust Zuko, and then he immediately betrayed her, a betrayal that led to her best friend, who she saw as the only hope for fixing her world, dying. And so many people gloss over that fact, but Aang did in fact die at the end of season 2 and was revived by her when she used the spirit water. And then it took forever (months?) for Aang to wake up from his coma and can you imagine how scary that must have been for Katara? She was probably thinking about when she lost her mother or how the world was about to lose its only hope for peace or about how she'd never have fun penguin sledding with Aang again. Of course she threatened Zuko when he joined the gaang, she couldn't let him hurt Aang ever again. And the scene where she tells Zuko "bring my mother back" is obviously her response to the trauma of almost losing Aang reminding her of the trauma of her mother's death. Aang dying in front of her retraumatized her and reminded her of her mother dying in front of her. She sees Zuko as responsible for Aang's death, which I think is fair considering the betrayal, and because Zuko couldn't bring back Aang (Katara already did that herself), she tells him to bring her mother back. It makes complete sense to me.

Willow, Luz and Hunter for the character asks
(Edit: fuck it read more time)
Willow Park
1) First impression:
(Episode 3?) She seems a bit like the stereotypical sweet bullied best friend, but that’s okay. She’s nice and has some mischievous moments. Not much to say about her.
2) Impression now:
She’s still not a favorite, but I like her more now. I enjoy the parts where the girl subverts some of the tropes she was assigned (being allowed to being angry at her bully, not immediately forgiving, still a gremlin) and how just because Willow got more self-confidence, it doesn’t mean the teen won’t struggle with negative thoughts after getting put down for being “half a witch” for so long.
3) Favorite moment:
The monster in her mind being revealed to be Inner Willow after it was pushed into the water. Plus, the iconic: “I remember what you did, too. I can’t say we’re friends, but…it’s a start.”
4) Idea for a story:
We’ve seen Willow’s complicated feelings on Amity, now it’s time to explore what she and Skara got going on. Although I remember S1E17 hinting that Skara would be nicer to her and didn’t hate her, unlike Boscha, it’s still a bit weird to see one of Willow’s former bullies in her team when they’ve had zero on-screen development. Especially because, unlike with Amity, they don’t have any history to build on.
In other words. Fanfics of Willow & Skara friendship slow burn when.
5) Unpopular opinion:
Willow should have gotten more screen time, yes, but I think the girl’s current time explores her enough. She’s one of those characters who already feel complete since season one. (With that said, gimme some a Willow POV reason to ship Huntlow, bc if this is gonna happen, I need mutual content—)
You can argue that the girl hasn’t completed her arc yet, but, while that’s fair, I think the fact that we’re being shown that she’s in a better state than she ever was in her life, plus that she will keep growing, makes up for it.
6) Favorite relationship:
Willow and Amity. It’s not even a competition. Understand Willow, my best friend…
7) Favorite head cannon:
She’s somewhere in the AroAce spectrum! Maybe she can have crushes still, but they’ll be either very small and short, or they’re less “blushing, can’t function, etc” and more her normal attitude them + a mushy feeling in her chest and the desire to cuddle. Thought people were exaggerating about how intense their romantic urges were until Luminity happened. I’m not projecting.
Gus Porter
1) First impression:
Funny little man. Definitely not neurotypical. That’s it.
2) Impression now:
Labyrinth Runners changed me as a person, so listen. His whole character is about autism and the ND experience. His struggle of feeling guilty for not being able to read people as well as the others around him, therefore leading into being taken advantage of, mostly for his smarts, is a mood. Still a funny little man, but now is a character I love. This explains it better than I possibly could, but the point is: He Gets It!
3) Favorite moment:
His last on-screen Illusion Nightmare, when Hunter goes into the sphere to snap him out of his mind. Specifically the “I let myself get tricked…again” part because the slightly creepy and symbolic visual is my kind of shit. Aside of that, probably the whole scene where he calms Hunter down from a panic attack and then gives his speech.
4) Idea for a story:
Something exploring his post-King’s Tide feelings, because…imagine having to deal with being a 12 year old unable to go home to your only family member, who’s current status is unknown, going to your dream location in the worst way possible, and. As if that wasn’t enough, having to stay silent about his knowledge of Belos’s backstory, including the creation of grimwalkers, which his friend is. I am but a humble angst enjoyer and I need my crumbs.
5) Unpopular opinion:
Okay idk tbh. Although he was criminally underdeveloped in season one, TTGLR and LR came in clutch, so I don’t mind his lack of exploration as much as other fans. My main complaint is that I wish he got more focus on King’s Tide. Let him into the Angst Train in the next specials, Dana. You know you want to.
6) Favorite relationship:
As the Labyrinth Runners stan that I am, I’d have to be lying to say it’s anything but Hunter & Gus. It’s just an equally positive thing for both of them. They are nerdy sillies together me thinks
7) Favorite head cannon:
Augustus Porter has the autism swag (real)
Luz Noceda
1) First impression:
Luz looks like a regular “quirky child” kid’s show protagonist, but just because she’s not anything special right now doesn’t mean I won’t like her. She’s fun. I like her neurodivergent swag and…girlie made me cry in S1E02 😔 why would you hurt me like this. It’s not even a sad episode. It’s just… her being tricked by that self-indulgent illusion hit me in my weak spot 😭😭😭
2) Impression now:
ONE OF MY FAVORITES, JUST LIKE ME FOR REAL! Watch this video, it’s the best. Seriously, I still like her kid’s show protag vibes, yeah, but what really draws me in is her insecurities. It’s the alienation Luz faced due to being neurodivergent and never really fitting in anywhere until the Boiling Isles. It’s about the people pleasing and hiding away any signs that she needs help due to not wanting to be a bother, because being too much of a burden means losing your only friends. It’s about loving your parents but feeling as if they will never really get it.
The urge to self-sacrifice and put the blame on yourself in case anything goes wrong. It’s about reaching one of your lowest mental health points and thinking you’re a horrible person who ruins everything when you’re just a kid with some Issues and anger. When, at some point, you start only confiding on your sibling figure because they’re the only one who understands and you think won’t run away. Pushing away your friends and, after apologizing, being surprised at how instantly kind and forgiving they are. It’s about Reaching Out and Thanks To Them.
3) Favorite moment:
Camila watching her computer diary in Thanks To Them. Literally everything about it, but especially the reveal of her hyperfixation being a connection to her late father. Aside of that, moments like her bitter speeches in S2E02 (to Eda) and in S3E01 (to her class) are very cool…I relate to her so much 😔
4) Idea for a story:
I’m not very creative when it comes to these types of questions, so this is hard. You know what they say, when in doubt, go for a PMMM AU! She gets a Sayaka-like role! (it’s about the heroism complex and ideals, the destruction of the fantasy, the angst. And the gay, too. Amity, get in the Kyoko cosplay right NEOWWW—)
5) Unpopular opinion:
I mostly stick to my fandom bubble, so I always see similar takes, but. “She got some trauma and issues from the Boiling Isles, as no kid should bear the burden of the world’s fate in the way Luz does, Belos worsened her ‘I gotta do this by myself’ shtick” and “She already had trauma before the Boiling Isles, that island is essential to her healing atp, and her Owl Family + friends helped her get some coping mechanisms and actually rely on her loved ones” are all statements that can and do coexist!
6) Favorite relationship:
The Owl Family, aka Luz, Eda & King. It’s the heart of the show! Three outcasts, who grew to unconditionally accept and love each other, even when others don’t have their back. Three traumatized people with awful coping mechanisms who do their best teach each other how to be better. Found family that may not be perfect, but is essential in all its members in a growth and healing journey. Plus they’re really funny. Can best be described as “they’re a set, do not separate them.”
7) Favorite head cannon:
No “favorite” comes up right now, so regular ones it is. HC that Luz has not only ADHD, but autism and (for a while) depression as well! And undiagnosed eye problems, because she refused to ask for glasses and is deeply regretting it! I’m projecting! Also, when she stays in The Boiling Isles, she’s going to cut her hair to fit the Clawthorne Women Hair Style(TM) like how Eda looks in the EOTP flashback, but mixing it with her own style at the same time. The girl needs a cool leather jacket, too! Give her some more drip.

Possible unpopular opinion - but once I established the role of men in my life, I really enjoy the fact they can be quite “emotionally boring”. I think men are great to eat with and laugh with and do physical things with, but I don’t rely on them to inspire or understand me. That’s what sharing art and friendship is for, to me. Because it factually has shown that to be true. As someone who is constantly at sea with my emotions, processing, and luckily with friends who are down to join me in those feels, going to a man to just *exist* is kind of an amazing break. Grounding. Basically, women *are* superior in so many ways, are in touch with our mortality and spirituality so much more because of our wombs (awareness of the possibility to create life is like… earth rattling), but men can provide a nice break from that intense awareness. I’ve had many different degrees of men in my life and many deeply emotional artist types, of course, but even then it’s unmatched to the depth and awareness of a woman. Even if they’re crying and wailing and full of honesty, idk, they are built different.
Unfortunately men’s lack of sensitivity plays out in damaging patriarchal ways on mass scale, and the anger for that is valid, but we’re not talking societal politics or saving the world here. We’re talking the simple act of you dating men and seeing their role or value to you. And my whole thing is if you’re going to be attracted to men and crave them, establish their role in your life, be choosey about who you want, and don’t expect too much. Also, men talk about themselves a ton with us because often we are put in the role of therapist/confidant because men are less likely to have close friendships or spaces where they can share their feels and thoughts. And once again, that can be entertaining and intimate too if you decide. I am very forward about what I want from men - affection, lots of touch, a place to fulfill sexual urges, and be romantic. Someone to go on walks at night with so I’m not scared. Sometimes they are good for safety or transit or care also. If they have more for me, wonderful. But if not, I got what I wanted. I deeply enjoy myself with men while holding this mentality honestly, like I love them, and I forgive them for how they are. And if they don’t ignite me (put me in a space that makes me feel hot and awesome and loved, so I can go be artistic and emotional elsewhere) then I don’t bother.
Moral of the story: Men are just a feature in life. They are a place to go, fulfill urges, experience duality, learn stuff, mess around, travel, get caught up in romantic madness for the fun of it, create a space of affection and love. Maybe find a helpful team member for life even. They are a destination that should ignite you beyond them. Sometimes they cross over into the sensitive side and surprise you and come close to a great sensitive friend. But mostly they just exist in a role, and are deeply lucky to be on this earth with the magic that is women. And I think that’s okay and truthful

Saw your notes on that post about naddpod and just wanted to pass along that you can totally jump ahead and start with Shadowfell arc and only have a few little things that don't make 100% sense without context but aren't really too confusing or distracting from the arc. Thats actually how i started listening and it made me want to go back to the beginning and hear more about all the little things they mentioned from previous arcs. Its also good just straight from the beginning but if you dont want to wait like 60eps to get to the cool arc people rave about and listen to Brennan getting to finally be a PC you totally don't have to and it absolutely holds up to a re-listen when you go through from the beginning :)
Thank you! I will probably start from the beginning if only for the sake of simplicity and knowing where I am in the story. Honestly the things that have kept me from listening have just been lack of time and a difficulty with starting new pieces of media. I have a long trip next week though so I’m going to download the first few episodes to listen to on the commute!
Also I heard there’s an extended and insanely weird bit in the first episode and I need to find out what that’s about

ascendant astrology observations pt.1 <3
just some little notes and observations on diff placements based off of people i know! vv mad as i typed up a whole detailed post and it didn’t save </3 i’m litro heart broken :’) so here’s a more simple one bc i’m currently up at 4am rewriting something to post lols :D
these are just my opinions and are based off of friends and people i know personally; please don’t plagiarise any of my work <3
Tumblr media
aries ascendants tend to be very impulsive people. they usually come across as intimidating people when in reality they’re usually the sweetest under the independent and confident mask they wear.
aries risings are usually very bossy and get frustrated when things don’t go their way. they’re usually very organised and work well alone as they’re very independent, ambitious and determined. my mum has this placement paired with a capricorn sun and is the biggest workaholic; she’s so ambitious and always wants to be the best. these people like to make everything a competition. sometimes they can rub people the wrong way by competing with everything.
cancer risings are so deceiving, arguably the most deceiving rising sign in my opinion. they come across as so sweet and caring when in reality they can be the most manipulative people. from experience they end up being a lot less sweet and cute than what they initially come across as. just the facts...
similarly, scorpio ascendants have a pretty intense mask: these people can come across as unlikeable and unreadable. however, unlike cancer risings, what’s underneath the mask is usually a lot kinder than what they outwardly present themselves as.
unpopular opinion but i dislike leo risings - one of the most stuck up placements. the leo risings i know put themselves on a pedestal and love to look down on others. they’re the type to act shocked that your good at something. they’re the ones who are always like ‘omg, that was actually soooo good!’ as if they didn’t expect you to be lmaoo
virgo risings just always seem so put together it’s not fair :’)
sag risings are usually funny. usually. i’ve met a few that try too hard to be funny and end up failing - probs due to aspects but i’m not going to go into that now xox they’re normally extroverted and friendly though, one of my fave rising signs
capricorn risings are very stubborn and persistent. you can easily spot them, idk just the aura they give off - you can tell a capricorn ascendant just by looking: they’re usually slim, with a bony structure and very serious eyes. they just look put-together. think dark academia, sophisticated vibes, no matter what aesthetic the person has they still give off those vibes
hope you enjoyed! this is so much shorter and wayyyyyy less detailed than what i originally wrote but oh well <3

really unpopular opinion but emilia clarke was a serious miscast for daenerys... she didn't bring the unique mix of ruthlessness and innocence at all, she played her like an empowered benevolent princess/queen instead and that's why daenerys' villain arc failed
I think that's honestly less unpopular than you'd think, but the stans are vicious so it seems otherwise.
I think there were a lot of issues going on with that character. I don't think Emilia is a super strong actress--her range is pretty limited, and she's better with lighter material that can better accommodate her tendency to like... Act with her eyebrows, blow her eyes up really big, smile super intensely. She was a bad match for this role, but I do wonder if it was also a case of her being self-conscious and not wanting to go where Dany needed to be taken.
However, I also think those are issues that should've been addressed by writers and directors. I think the writers knew early on (having been told what was going to happen in the end of the books, which, I think broad strokes is going to be the same as what happened on the show, with some changes) that Dany was going to be the big bad in the end. And honestly, the first season plays her much more ambiguously than the subsequent seasons do. I think that the fan reaction made them really hesitant to commit to what they knew they'd have to do, even as they wrote the skeleton for her downfall. The hints that Dany was going to lose her mind are there on the show; they're just not as strong as they are in the books, in part because you can't be in her mind, in part because Emilia wasn't a strong enough performer to get you there, and in part because... the writers were afraid of turning fans off, I think. And HBO probably didn't want to turn them off, either. They wanted to sell dragon merch.
But yeah, Emilia was a big miscast. And I know Tamzin would've been able to kill that shit, because I've seen her in The Tudors and Salem and both suggest to me that she would've owned that level of broken innocence and ultimate insanity. I've always heard rumors (and thought myself) that one reason why Tamzin was cut for Emilia is that Tamzin played much more childlike onscreen--Tamzin looked really "Lolita/nymphette" at that point in time. Emilia still looked young, but just physically she played more "woman" than "little girl", and idk. I think the show relied a lot on Dany as the "sexy girl" in those first seasons.
So yeah. I think there were a lot of problems with what happened with Dany, but she just wasn't being played by a game girl, and that.... hurt a lot.

Want a *really* unpopular opinion? I not only *liked* the Incense Burner extras but found them sexy, as a portrayal of two dorks using potentially dangerous magical R&D as a tool for exploring their past feelings and history and negotiating consent by trial and error and error and error.
ANON YOU FUCKING GET IT | STRONGLY AGREE | agree | neutral | disagree | strongly disagree
slams hands on table  C O R R E C T
you know what, i’ll do you one better, not only did i like them and find them sexy, i ALSO found them extremely meaningful and important!! i will defend the incense burners unto death, you can pry them from my cold dead hands!!!!
not to get super emo and personal about like, kinda silly smut, but you know what, it’s that kind of night so let’s GO oversharing time, and maybe it will help someone along the way!!! isn’t that what vulnerability is for!!!!
i don’t know if it’s common knowledge that i have ocd -- i haven’t made a secret of it or anything -- but: i suffer from pretty terrible intrusive thoughts and when you add that together with intense moral scrupulosity issues + a complicated relationship to shame and sex, you get some pretty rough thoughtcrime, self-hatred, and sex-related neuroses. i was so completely horrified by the idea of wanting sex that I thought i was ace for like, the better part of my teen years. i’m really grateful to the ace spaces i was lucky enough to find in that time because they gave me a place to feel safe while I was still figuring shit out, and I still feel a lot of kinship with them because even if i’m not ace, sex is still Difficult for me as a concept and aspec people Get It.
together with just my generally really fucked up thoughts, plus the rise of purity culture etc, i have A Lot of fear about my inner self being perceived because there’s a part of me that is convinced that if anyone really knew me, they’d find me disgusting, that they’d think i was a genuinely bad and dirty person beyond redemption. that no matter how hard i tried to be good, i was doomed to fail because there was something wrong with me internally and inherently. that like, no matter how kind or helpful or dutiful or accomplished or smart or thoughtful i tried to be, it wouldn’t make a difference!!!
im getting over it lol don’t worry
but the point is: the incense burners, especially the one in the library, really embody the ultimate fantasy of a person you love seeing your most shameful thoughts and desires and not only NOT abandoning you, but saying “oh shit, that’s hot”. can you understand the palpable relief of that!!!! ;A; and!! to take it one step further, it’s not even a big deal! wei wuxian laughs and is like ohohoho?? hanguang-jun? like this secret that lan wangji was carrying and fearing was just like. kinda cute and funny. that there was nothing to fear at all.
screams into my hands
i joke about being shuangbi kin all the time, except like, it isn’t a joke. the moment when wei wuxian notices that lan wangji is tense, when lan wangji says, “stop looking,” and tries to leave -- idk i just. i felt for him so hard there. stop looking at me. what if you don’t like what you see?
but wei wuxian does like it! and wei wuxian doesn’t think any worse of lan wangji, doesn’t think he’s fallen or disgraceful. lan wangji is still lan wangji, still hanguang-jun, still upright, still 雅正. and the narrative does the same: it never implies that lan wangji is any less of a good person because of this. it’s just an inside joke for the other extras: that lan wangji looks like the sort of person who’s a perpetual virgin because that’s what people expect from someone of his character and demeanor, but he isn’t.
i can’t like. begin to explain how much i treasure this dumb smut. it’s not the best smut i’ve ever read, not by a long shot, but it’s not anywhere near as terrible as a lot of people make it out to be. just. i got to read this thing. where a character i already identified with had his fucked up thoughts about sex perceived and accepted and loved, and it was a character who looked and sounded and thought like me!! down to the obsession with rules and fairness. a chinese character!!! and someone the narrative pretty consistently positions as a sympathetic and lovable person!! mdzs was my first danmei, so it’s entirely possible this isn’t revolutionary whatsoever. maybe this is a super common trope! idk! but it was really revelatory to me. that these really intensely complicated characters we’ve just spent like 500k learning about and falling in love with are also weird kinky dumbasses who don’t know shit. and that both can be true! and that’s presented as a fun, delightful thing! god!!!! i care them! i am so grateful to mxtx for it, regardless of anything else, i am grateful that she gave me this.
anyways, thanks for giving me this outlet anon and also like, letting me experience a version of that relief: oh i’m not alone!
