Is it true that Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk don’t even pay taxes?

They absolutely do pay taxes, but the misconceptions come from:

1/ Their respective companies, Amazon & Tesla, have been regularly criticized for their low effective income tax rate(s), despite these being completely separate legal entities and have minimal relevance to their owners' personal tax liabilities. Furthermore, the primary reason the companies have paid such low [or no] federal income taxes is due to them minimizing their tax liability through traditional means, i.e. tax deductions/exemptions for intended purposes.

2/ Majority of their wealth is classified as unrealized gains, which are non-taxable, but will be taxable when the gains are recognized. The easiest way of thinking about this is imagine if you purchased your favorite baseball card from a yard sale for $10 and then 10 years later, you found out that it's now worth $1000, then you now have an unrealized gain of $990. Now when you go to sell it for $1000, you'll have to pay the tax on the $990, but if you never sell it, then it would remain untaxed.

3/ As mentioned in the first bullet, it's important to realize that most tax returns are not public information, especially for private individuals, so most accusations aren't based on concrete evidence.

He'll always find a way to be close to you. He can be content with just being shoulder to shoulder, casually brushing knees as you sit beside him in the library. I'm very wary of portraying age differences.

In the Slowpoke Series, Reader (and Glenn!) are 25 at the start. Glenn was 25 at the start of the series, so that's canon.

You'll see the repeated Daryl is "six or seven years older" "five or six years older"

This is because reader thinks Daryl is 31 or 32 based on mishearing something he was telling somebody else.

In the Slowpoke Series, Daryl is actually aged down to 33 at the start.

This is supposed to, later on, make the age difference another thing that makes reader and Daryl go "oh, that isn't cool, yeah, friendship only" to themselves. As small as a one year add might could seem, it's enough for both, independently, to try to shake it off even more.

I have the reveal of that miscommunication planned because for them to have developed romantic feelings, both Daryl (who I wish to portray as safe) and Reader (who is protective and will throw hands) have to think the age difference is reasonable and healthy, 5 or 6, maximum 7 years apart (7 in my opinion, for the age Reader begins, is pushing it).

minor spoiler below the cut for those who read in chronological order, not publishing order.

They do end up getting hitched two years after the start (this was already shown in some time-jump chapters), which makes the 8 doable -- and they go through hell and back together, which changes things, too.
