Crazy but cute theory (The Rookie)

Oh My God I just got the best idea for another parrallel that might or could appear in The Rookie.

If you remember, Tim once, in 4x05, said that him and Isabel wanted three kids and having a family.

What if it will happen and him and Lucy will have a three kids? I know that it's might be lot, but I think it could be super cute, Just imagene those little chenford babies runing on the backyard, laughing and playing, with Kojo of course, while Lucy and Tim are smiling and watching them.👮‍♀️💍👮👧🧑👶❤️🐶

You make it a habit to just kind of touch sukunas body absentmindedly while you think about everyday things in bed, or on the couch while hes next to you, tracing his tattoos or just smoothing your hand up and down his back-- its lead you spiralling down into a trap as he now becomes the sassiest man ever if you stop touching him.

Just thinking about how he would be sprawled out stomach first on the bed, face turned the other way, seemingly asleep- but the twist is that the moment your hand stops moving, he quickly turns back at you 0.001 seconds after with the 😐 face and asks "why'd you stop."

He'd never verbally request you to rub his back or stomach, or to play with his hair, because he has his sense of pride (stubborn old man.) but if hes lying on your lap or next to you in bed a little too close or when he gives you a certain look, its kind of an invitation for you to start doing your thing 😇 hes so adorable

Its surprising how obsessed he becomes with physical touch when sukuna is attached...

He gets more and more awfully spoiled because you enable him! Soon he will have you brushing your fingers through his hair for hours on end or have you massaging his hands and fingers for no good reason at all. Real princess treatment 👍 (he is always touch starved)

☆Headcanon: brother-sister coding, hear me out

I need to get this post done before whatever that will happen in chapter 192. So even if I only got two more days for this theory to be around, I'll be glad that I finally let this out from my chest after a while. So, don't take whatever I will ramble about as something super serious.

First of all, maybe you guys will look at me and says, "what the fuck Alie they're like two different unrelated characters" and while that's true for now and so far, I just... can't really took my eyes off from this "siblings coding" the more I read Chainsaw Man. And I have some reasons and theories why (disclaimer: I did a crazy reach all over the direction) and I found it very interesting.

Reason no. 1: Their First Meeting & Re-occurence

Hirofumi is the first part 1 character that Asa meets (even before Denji). So, I think it's reasonable for me—the reader to be intrigued on what is Fujimoto's plan for their seemingly "not important" (but why be the first?) relationship.

My initial thought is that: oh, they might become friendlier in the future or even become lifelong enemies. Then I remember Hayakawa Family—Aki and Power as the first ever Denji's buddy, specific on Power.

Because even though narratively and character writing-wise Power and Hirofumi are fundamentally different, both of them are written initially to form false narratives that they'll become a token love interest for our protagonist(s) aren't they? They also share a somewhat similar strawberry cake motive, makes me wonder why.

Alsoooo, I think the way Hirofumi & Asa's Devil Hunter Club "date" being portrayed as very differently from Hirofumi + Denji and Hirofumi + Fami "cafe date" (a.k.a. work-related mandated date) is important, somehow.

Reason no. 2: Personal Motives and Untold Family Narratives of Asa Mitaka

We know since the very first time we met her that Asa is very lonely and her motives circling around getting a companion (either a boyfriend or a friend) and living selfishly (which as we can see right now is backfired rapidly, but I'll talk about this separately later, maybe in the future).

However, there's one aspect of her motives that's kinda underlooked, and it's her relationship with family member. Yes, we got a glimpse of Asa and her mom (never with her father so far) and Asa with her lovely pet—Crambon, however they already died years ago, and Asa blame herself for it.

It's unfair that in this world, she still had her family, as they said. So maybe she already gives up on that idea. Which is where the true weights of this headcanon come from. What if, she still could have it? Even though she never asked for this directly. Her getting a family again that she was maliciously accused of unfairly having, could be very nice, actually. Even if it's a very insufferable or a miserable mess workaholic kind of brother (or twin brother).

Reason no. 3: Hirofumi's Motives

This deserves its very own post just like my plan to talks more about Asa's living selfishly motive but to make it simple, Hirofumi lied at the very start because he already formed a parasocial relationship with both Asa and Denji by giving them options to have a somewhat nicer normal life (Denji not becoming Chainsaw Man, and Asa making a distance from Denji to prevent her from turning him into her weapon and thus also prevented her to feel down because of the guilt) even though he knows that another choice never really exist to begin with.

(Asa doesn't necessarily have to be his sister to add more depths to this motive. I just think won't it be very funny if Hirofumi was like collecting information all around, confirming that Asa Mitaka is indeed the incarnation of War Devil in weird case then he took a look at her Koseki then boom they have the same dad!? What the fuck was that. Here comes new responsibility that his father left behind, I guess)

As what we know so far, Hirofumi took his job and his responsibility very seriously and very neat about which one he could improve or "change" for everyone's sake involved. IF Hirofumi and Asa are indeed siblings (or half siblings) however, this gives more explanation on his involvement and his own personal interest. Hirofumi is not easy to read, but he still overshares to Asa (chapter 121 when he agrees on Asa's takes about solitude) and "taking care" of her.

Reason no. 4: Just Take a More Look at Them

Taller than average? Check. More athletic than average? Check. Insane face card? Check. Unbelievable amount of yearning? Check. Arguably suicidal? Check.

Both of them being a human stuck in status quo between human vs devil war like hostages in their own prison—Hirofumi stuck as hollow used cop for Public Safety and Asa stuck as War Devil very own vessel—with absolutely nothing, no one really on their side (Fumiko and Fami as mean of even more control over both of them)? Check.

Even as concept alone, child soldier and war maiden incarnate siblingsm could be developed to be something, very interesting.

Okay, now into more theories territory.....

Theory no. 1: Asa and Hirofumi are the Result of Kishibe Fucking Around and Found Out Post Quanxi Rejection Era

Why Kishibe would do that? Idk but it's a funny math because if Kishibe is in his early 50 now then 17 years ago would be him in his 30s. If Kishibe become devil hunter in his early 20s and meet Quanxi shortly after that and become buddies for 9 years then, the year just lined up lmao. How much chances of them being an oopsies baby thus explaining their very different last names but strangely similar physiques and even narratives? Not zero.

There are two options regarding this though. It's either they're twin siblings or half siblings. Half siblings mean they have different mothers but same dad, and twin siblings mean they have same mother but got separated at some point during their lifetime (Hirofumi went with Kishibe and Asa went with her mama who probably re-marry or just simply raising Asa alone and lying about her dad getting eaten by devil or something because her love story with that drunkard crazy man is just that bad).

Kishibe avoiding child support for 17 years and this is the consequences, also both of them got their ass kicked out by the very same lesbian who rejects their father, I'll say it's a beautiful storytelling.

Theory no. 2: Sinister Look on Vol 17 Cover and "Hirofumi will appear in Asa's Dream"

We will get into a more sinister area here because I believe the Makima-esque vibes, "necessary evil" narratives Hirofumi brought up to the table are not coincidences or neglectable at all. Even more sinister because his cover is him standing in front of alleyway just like how Makima cover is her in front of the door in Denji's dream.

Which led me to think that this could indicate something. However, kinda different on how it was portrayed, I think this make things clear that Hirofumi is not endgame antagonist since his cover came a bit too early than what we—the reader anticipated (there is absolutely no fucking nobody in the fandom that expecting Hirofumi to get a cover during before the cover reveal). However, he might be the key into Asa's end dream reveal later on.

Maybe he will appear on her dream being vague as fuck, or maybe direct her dream into a more "false happiness" directions since all he did is lying (see reason no. 3) to distract her focus on dead chickens. Personally, I think the latter will be more interesting because it will be the opposite of what Makima did in Denji's dream, if this "Hirofumi will appear in Asa's dream sooner or later" theory is true. The government and the church need Asa in her stable conditions to unleash Yoru anyway.

"Then what does this imply into your siblings theory"—because siblings should take care of each other, ideally. And I think it will add more depth, if true of course.

Theory no. 3: Hirofumi Cares About Asa (maybe more than what we see on-screen)

To put on more disclaimer, this is just what I imagine to fill out the gap in between narratives and it connects to reasons number 3 (again). Despite how he positions himself and blending in the crowd like invincible, Hirofumi is actually easy to care and feel guilty too (and the reason why he could kill the Immortal Brother assassin in part 1 is because he has the ignorance privilege, but with both Denji and Asa? Not so much).

I have no strong basis for this theory I just have my own feelings and a dream, and this is basically what I think Hirofumi has done so far for Asa (subtle) in the story:

Hirofumi just let Yuko loose and kill Asa's bullies during Justice Devil Arc. This may sound dark, but it fit his character in a way that he's okay with doing violence as long as it could benefit his mission (and maybe this time his personal interest too). Because he knows Asa got bullied at school. If this could solve her bullying problems, then why not? That's why Hirofumi is just sitting around during the whole fight until Denji interfered.

Hirofumi is the one who brought Asa to hospital after Falling Devil Arc (which is somehow in line for how I think he's Denji blood-giver in the same arc). Because well, I don't think Public Safety cared enough to get her conditions checked, but Hirofumi is aware about her injury conditions (arguably this is so that she could be a bargaining chip for Denji but we know that the main chip is Nayuta, I think Hirofumi just want to let him know just because also let me have this imagination for the sake of this agenda).

The reason why Hirofumi didn't or more likely can't kill Asa during CSM Church Arc is not necessarily just because War Devil has become stronger. Paneling focus on their face's expressions indicate that Hirofumi just can't bring himself more to do so (after he saw Asa's hand and her in pain), thus making him fail this mission to capture War Devil dead or alive. It's the guilt kicking in.

I think Hirofumi is somewhat relieved after he saw Asa's hands are back (yay) in Aging Devil Arc. Also, that's what he put his focus on FIRST after he got vomited out before asking his own situation even.

Personal View and The Main Takeaway (really): I need this to be real just because I think it will be so fucking funny

To end this unbelievably long ass post, I think it's important to note again that they have like five screentime together and I'm just insane. But if I should be honest, this is not me being rational at all, I just think the whole situation would be funny up to seven more factors if my ramblings are true.

Because this headcanon imply that the fandom meltdown towards them (as individuals or as in characters dynamics) is unnecessary at all. Like aside from Hirofumi being read mainly as queer, maybe him acting kind of mean and nonchalantly distant (and somewhat awfully playful) towards Asa are just because he like being petty and doesn't want to look like he wants to bang his sister (as a sister myself, yes I do feel the need to annoy my other siblings whenever I can just because I could and it doesn't have to be hatred, sometimes it's the love aggression kicking in).

So delved a bit further. A huge thank you to @nicoscheer for keeping such accurate records of Miles' stories and posts. It made this so much easier. (Also, this is all just my wild theory and I have no proper proof as usual.)

Friday 22/09/2023 Who knows what started this all off, but on this day, Miles posts two stories:

The lyrics for "Seen The Light" include: "Well what you do is up to you, / I'll take my hat and push on through," (full lyrics in link)

"Infa Riot" lyrics include: "time to take control again and be the only one." "It's not too late to free your mind" "cos I don't think any-one cares." (full lyrics in link) This could be interpreted as either Miles saying that he's going to be who he wants to be, OR if it's a message to Alex, it's suggesting that he stands up for himself.

So what happens?

Saturday 23/09/2023 Arctic Monkeys are at the Pacific Colosseum in Vancouver and debut, "HELLO YOU.” I know that AM could have been pre-planned that they were doing this track tonight but to me, the timing?? Idk it just feels so coincidental.

It's as though Alex is answering with that final hopeful verse, about in the future he'll go back to being that person he was aged 17 (the meaning behind, "Hello You," discussed here.)

To try to keep this short(ish) I'll quickly say that Miles posts more stories where he's having a a nice Saturday night in with Maxie, then out for Sunday lunch with his Mum. The music accompanying these are all from The Beatles, (which ties in with his Mum being there) but he could have chosen any songs, and these all tie in with the ‘conversation’. They can all be seen as having a double meaning (1) as an accompanying to the story and (b) a message to Alex. Check out the lyrics from each track:

I'm not sure if this is the only time he does this, but in many of the clips I've watched, he doesn't. So, once again, why on this date? Another coincidence? Am I just fitting song lyrics to a narrative? When you look closely, there seems to be something going on.

Zandik, Sohreh and the Rishboland Tigers

Hello! Last night I began to think about Dottore just before falling asleep and now I'm back to write about something that's been bugging me for ages. This shouldn't be too long, but knowing myself I'll take it way too far so...!

Anyhow, every Dottore enjoyer knows of the Zandik's Legacy notes, and I'm sure everyone has their own theory on what happened between him, Sohreh and the investigation team he was with on Devantaka Mountain (if I remember correctly). Most people argue that he killed Sohreh just for the sake of it and lied about her being attacked by a pack of Rishboland Tigers, but I'd like to argue otherwise - she was attacked by the tigers first, and Zandik put Sohreh out of her misery as an act of mercy.

First and foremost, it's important to mention that Zandik and Sohreh, despite not having much in common (different Darshans, differences in their personalities etc) seemed to get along decently well. As written in Sohreh's Note,

"...Zandik and I discussed the traits of local plants and animals. We also exchanged views on their evolution models. We had a great time and decided to go on a picnic tonight..."

Despite their differences, Zandik made the effort to have a conversation with her and for him to agree to a picnic (hey, he could have offered first, you never know) means only that he was genuinely interested in Sohreh; if you have read my previous analysis about Dottore, then you might remember what I said about him and his loneliness and longing for companionship. If not, I will explain briefly: Zandik was rejected by his peers in the Akademiya. A monster, a madman, they deemed him, and it's easy to guess that he was very, very lonely. People were prejudiced against him, but here comes Sohreh - a Dastur who not only ignores the rumors about him, but is kind enough to talk to him, to want to see him more often. That must have been incredibly foreign to Zandik, who up until then had only known rejection and solitude.

With that said, why would he kill a girl?

Before I continue, I would like to note that we do not yet have a definitive timeline of these events. I am merely speculating based on what I know, so keep that in mind! I could very well be wrong when Dottore is released as a playable character and his Character Stories tell the true version of these events... anywho.

From reading the Ragged Attendance Record, we can understand that Zandik stubbornly acted by himself without caring to ask for permission:

"...Trainee Dastur Zandik has acted without authorization for the third time... It brings unpredictable risks to the investigation team... Punishment is advised..."

We know that Zandik meant to keep his research into these Ruin Machines secret; after all, investigating anything related to the fallen nation of Dahri was considered taboo back then.

The record continues,

"...Dastur Sohreh of Amurta has been critically injured under the attack of Rishboland Tigers. In need of first aid..."

Just what happened? It's unclear how she got injured. Can we assume that these records were written hours apart, perhaps? If so, assuming that Zandik had nothing to do with her injuries, how would he react to Sohreh getting hurt?

Moving on to the Sumeru Investigation Team's Note - this was very likely written after the Ragged Attendance Record, considering what we learn in it. It says:

"...Thank goodness, Zandik reacted quickly. Otherwise, the whole team would be in serious trouble...

...The terrifying killing machine has stopped. Zandik insisted on bringing it back to the Akademiya to be disassembled and reverse-engineered. That was absolutely ridiculous! Sage Sharnama reprimanded him and removed him from the author list.

...We buried Dastur Sohreh and sent the wounded back. Looks like this field research has come to an end..."

If we go over it line after line, we learn the following:

Zandik likely deactivated the Ruin Machine that attacked the Investigation Team. He must have gathered enough knowledge at that time to know how to deal with them himself; he also exposed that secret knowledge to the rest of the group, which only helped in strengthening the prejudice people had against him. Considering he acted so quickly, it must have been an instinct for him to solve the problem by himself/save the others.

The fact that he insisted on bringing the machine back could have played a role in the very reason why he got expelled from the Akademiya. This entire event could also be why studying mechanical life forms is now banned in Spantamad, which I believe to have been Zandik's Darshan.

Sohreh was already dead at that point, or she died shortly after the Ruin Machine attacked the group. Funny that they just buried her in the wilderness and left...

This begs one question: when would one even have the time to kill Sohreh? She was first attacked by a pack of Rishboland Tigers. Then, a Ruin Machine accidentally got activated, which Zandik quickly stopped, and there were even more people wounded - likely due to the aforementioned machine (oh, and if so, this might imply that Zandik hesitated to act). Of course, it could have been anyone else that choked Sohreh to death. It could be that someone just put the blame on Zandik because he was so hated. But if we are to assume that he and Sohreh shared some sort of bond, then perhaps he did it himself.

Indeed, for she was already terribly wounded. This is what the Dissection Records say about Sohreh:

"...The deceased...Dastur Sohreh... Multiple trauma wounds... Lacerations... contusions on internal organs... hemorrhage... ...But the fatal injury is the wound on the throat... fractured hyoid bone... Mechanical asphyxia... unable to ascertain the cause of death..."

So all makes sense - I don't even need to spell it out. What I should say is another thing; ignoring the messy timeline and half-assed guess I made about the chaotic events that took place that day, I should return to Sohreh and Zandik.

Zandik - rather, Dottore - is not an actor. He does not pretend to be someone he is not, and Escher doesn't count because that was for a mission. Aside from being a bit polite with Nahida, Dottore never, not once, pretended to be nicer than he really was nor shaped his identity a certain way to make it easier to digest for others. Think of webttore - an openly short-tempered and brash man with a complete disregard for how others perceive him. That's Dottore, and by extension, Zandik. Sohreh wrote that he was rigid - would that not be a trait one would hide if they wanted to put up a front? Moreover, Zandik would have no reason to fake being nice with Sohreh. There was nothing she could realistically give him that he actually wanted - nothing if not acceptance and friendship. Knowing Dottore and his buried want for companionship, Zandik must have been entranced by Sohreh's kindness and curiosity. That must have been rare for him to receive, having already been chased out of his hometown and openly rejected and shunned in the Akademiya.

Say they went on that picnic and found more things to bond over - would it not make sense that he would be the one to show her mercy? Sure, strangling someone is not painless; he could have lacked other options. Perhaps she asked him to do it, or he felt as if he had to - she was bleeding out and helpless in the wilderness, without access to medical aid. Zandik could have thought that she wouldn't make it and took pity on her. Or... well, who knows.

I don't know. With such little information, it's difficult to make out a clear picture of what could have gone down. What I do know is that killing her just for the sake of it makes little to no sense. Dottore is resourceful and only does things that benefit him and his research. How would killing a Dastur of a Darshan that he did not belong to help him in any way? People already despised him and he wouldn't so openly risk getting expelled and losing any means of conducting research. It just doesn't feel right to me, y'know?

Anyway, that's yet another convoluted Dottore theory from me. Remember: I myself am not very confident in it. I had only my own audacity and 4 tiny notes to write this, so! Anything could have happened with Sohreh - this is just my take on it. It's the one I prefer, anyway. I'll humanize anyone looool

WHICH COULD MEAN NOTHING (theory post)

was titled I was assigned with a severe case of insanity at birth.

I rewatched season eight for the second time (third time for some chapters), and I gathered a couple of notes that I found interesting approaching season b (8x09-8x10, since between 8x10 and 8x11 there's a time jump we know nothing about and can speculate very minimally) with what we currently know.

First and foremost I apologize for how much of a reach and crazy these are about to be. But, walk with me on this...

THEORY 1: THELMA AND LOUISE

Starting the house by the roof. The person referred to as a 'serial killer' I don't think has yet been introduced. They could be making an appearance throughout 8x09 subtly, taking by surprise because their introductory role would be minimal at most but their connection to one of the earliest plots completely unexpected. I think they're going to play with the shock factor. During this theory, I maintain that it isn't a one person act, but a couple. My main thoughts on the matter are that it is two women operating, and they're going to be targeting people who were involved in the trafficking ring of Maxwell Felton (the s3x trafficking broker). Since usually the M.O. of serial killers who happen to be women is based more on either profit or revenge.

Usually with couple killers one is the brains and the other the force, and usually the brains is the evil manipulator-mastermind whilst the force (though evil still) is more naive and susceptible, hence why they fall into the brain's operations and idealistic world where they can seek revenge to pay tribute to themselves.

I want to talk about Athena mentioning Thelma and Louise, instead of any other man-woman couples who used to go on killing sprees whilst she made the fake attorney go into the back of his truck. Even though she's with Jenkins, who is a man. Thelma and Louise is an interesting mention that caught my attention. Thelma (sheltered wife) and Louise (waitress) are friends who are on the run. If you have not seen the movie: They are running away from murder. Louise is the protective older sister archetype you'd usually find in conventional cinema, and Thelma is that younger sister in need of protection and guidelines. Louise saves Thelma from getting raped by shooting the man in a parking lot. Thelma was also raped in Texas but nobody would believe her, and she always avoids talking about it. And so they become fugitives trying to escape to Mexico. The story continues, they meet a thief who ends up rattling them to the police after stealing their money, a truck driver whom they blow up the truck of, and a state trooper who begs them for his life.

State Trooper : [sobbing] Please! I have a wife and kids. Please!

Thelma : You do? Well, you're lucky. You be sweet to 'em, especially your wife. My husband wasn't sweet to me. Look how I turned out.

And yeah, I know it's thinking too deeply into it. But I can't help and imagine Chimney being purposefully put out as a target to save Maddie. The idea of Maddie AND Jeeyun being kidnapped together. There are a lot of instances where the children aid the parents in episodes during the season, and that could allude to Jeeyun trying her best to help Maddie in some capacity.

In this Thelma and Louise theory, Buck does not get kidnapped. Buck has been notorious for having a hard time following orders and he tends to make decisions without consulting. Tim has mentioned Buck's spiral, and I think this is what will push Eddie and Chim to work together as a team more than Chim and Buck. Buck will be so inside his world losing his head over Maddie being taken and Eddie leaving, that he will try to work on his own, desperate to get Maddie and Jeeyun back. He will not care about his safety because to him he will not have anything left to lose; its either saving them or nothing.

THEORY 2 : SAVE THE CHILDREN

In the trailer we see Maddie being smothered by the serial killer, and the mismatched voice-over of Athena saying her name. But we never see Chim, or Buck, or even Eddie, or Hen, or even Karen and any of the children. Only Maddie, Josh, Athena, and Bobby.

I think there's a reason for it aside from being the first b promo and not wanting to give much away. Being where and who they're with which could potentially show how things are going to develop. Why? Because in this theory Jee is the one being taken and not Maddie. Maddie is only being smothered so she can't interfere in the killer's plan. Not only do I think Jee is being taken, but also are (potentially) the other 118's children. And that's how we end up with Buck also being potentially kidnapped, or extremely injured/incapacitated.

Hen - Mara and Denny

Chim - Jee

Bobby - Buck (closest there is. May and Harry are away so they're out of the danger zone.)

Eddie - Chris (who is in Texas, out of the danger zone.)

Buck - ? (childless for all she knows)

I argue that Chris is coming home before Eddie gets the chance to step foot on a plane, though. He comes back because Eddie ends up telling him what his plans were before something (kidnapping) happened and he has to delay it to stick around and help. Not to mention, Chris having the L. A police department tap open in the last episode tells me he's been keeping an eye on Eddie so he already knows what has been going on.

But, why their children? I'm putting Miss. Ortiz in the center. She wanted to punish Hen who 'let' her son die, and ended up losing her job because of the 118 as a whole. So she is going to make them suffer.

Maddie potentially having complications induced by stress or other factors, despite not being the main target. She could be hospitalized partially or be very sick and out of dispatch (a way she could end up working even closer with Athena.) Her willingly putting herself in danger isn't out of the picture especially because of this dialogues with Chim during the last two episodes. And, hear me out, this might be the biggest reach here; a parallel to 'careful what you wish for' (2x17) is plausible (which aired May 6th). Where Maddie is rethinking whether she should stay at dispatch or leave the job permanently. I'm being taken back to Josh's and Maddie's conversation during the Halloween episode:

"I'm almost looking forward to the chaos"

"careful what you wish for."

(And then Denny ends up getting crushed between a house and a vehicle, and almost loses his life to it.)

During 'Careful What You Wish For'(2x17) Maddie faces Gloria again, asking her if it's enough; if it makes a difference to just be there for the people who call. Gloria goes on by saying "It's not. Until it's your emergency. And then you realize that the middle is the scariest part. Because you don't just need help; you need hope." In the next episode (2x18), Buck gets crushed by the fire engine.

It's also the episode where Shannon tells Eddie that she might be pregnant and later on dies in a fatal accident involving a car. And then Chimney who feels guilty confesses to Hen that he regrets not administrating medical aid (incubation) to her, basically speeding the process.

Why I think Jee being the target and not maddie is one of the possibilities? Same reason, because of conversations and mentions of Jee.

"I don't want to imagine my life without my little girl in it. I don't want to imagine it without her mother either." - - "If you're ever sad or overwhelmed you come tell me. And you don't get to leave or try and manage this all on your own."

Eddie to Chim during the Halloween episode: "Enjoy Jee while you still can."

Potentially related to how Buck and Denny are also going to be taken:

"He wasn't trying to be a hero, he was just being a brother" - Talking about the boy in the well. And while this episode is about Chim concluding that he does want a kid, it stood out to me.

"Next time a buzz saw is coming for me, I hope you're close by." Chim to Buck after he tackles Gerard to the ground. Plus "Jee, take care of your uncle Buck" which could mean nothing, of course.

Buck mentioning how he crossed Billy Boils. Buck's speech at Billy Boil's gave: "isn't much of a curse as it is a cry for help. Your pose abandoned you when you needed them most. I can't imagine what that must've felt like for you. I can't imagine anything more painful than going through life alone. Except maybe one thing; going through death alone." Buck feeling dreadful and completely out of himself if something happens to Maddie or Jee, or being stuck in a situation where he can't seem to reach out for anyone.

Ultimately it will be Athena that figures it out.

"He didn't factor in one thing--your wife."

"And that... Is where they always go wrong."

Which could be leading to something bigger for her facing the rest of 8b. Especially since she pulled her hamstring and saw how much it relented her. Maybe they're playing with the idea of her working in the same field in a different department with more of a 'detective' outlook.

Hen to Athena "Whatever you lose in speed and power, you gain in wisdom and instinct"

Other theories I haven't developed:

1. A ruled out rookie being the one orchestrating the killings as revenge towards Athena.

2. Unknown killer who is not related to any previous storyline or appears in the episode until they're caught or later on and attacks at random. Seeing her activities jeopardised by the dispatch center, that's how Maddie ends up on the crossfire.

3. Someone related to 8x08 case about IRA (Lawrence Smith, convicted criminal for violent assaults who presented as a defenseless old man.)

4. Buckley sibling's joint kidnapping.

Other notes:

Eddie in a white button up at a police office (the same one we see in the trailer with Bobby and Athena.) + All of Eddie's NDEs are mentioned. And yes, I am including the lightning because he got hit by it too, he was on the ladder.

Karen trying to reach for Hen the night of Halloween when Denny gets hurt while trick or treating. - Athena trying to reach out for Bobby but going to voicemail because he has his phone silenced as he was on the set of Hotshots.

- There could be a potential parallel during the kidnapping storyline with Chim trying to reach Maddie or Eddie trying to reach for Buck. But getting no response.

"You have someone you trust?"

"Yeah, just haven't been able to get a hold of him yet"

DIY aid. Not only during the plane crash where they were giving people instructions on how to treat the injured without equipment. But throughout the season there's been a lot of moments of using instinct or making with what was at reach.

Eddie's : "Your son almost died and you weren't there." to the father who later does show up to the hospital to see his son when he's discharged:

"I'm sorry it took me so long to get there."

"You're here now."

Eddie talking about how his parents were a little too willing to take care of Chris on his behalf.

Chris mentions the Chess tournament in the same episode where we see the LA police department window open in his room back in Texas.

Chim mentions how Jee has been having trouble sleeping and Jee is the one to give away that they were there to Chim on the Halloween episode when he realizes it's Denny whose injured.
