You want book recommendations? I'm assuming you mean non-fanfics (I will have fanfic suggestions below, if you did mean that!).

These are the last four books I've read and enjoyed:

The Autopsy: Best Weird Stories of Michael Shea Cosmic Horror - A coroner uncovers extraterrestrial secrets in a small town’s corpses. I thought it was very detailed, mix of body horror, cosmic terror, and dark humour. Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu Gothic Horror – Laura, is drawn into a mysterious bond with Carmilla, whose nocturnal habits and allure hide a blood-chilling secret. If you like gothic horror, I would highly recommend this! The Diviners by Libba Bray Supernatural + Historical Fantasy + Mystery – Explores a fictional 1920s New York, where flapper-era glitz meets occult horrors. The main character has psychic powers, and she hunts a serial killer. First in a series! (I've only read the first one unfortunately) The Checklist Manifesto: How to Get Things Right by Atul Gawande Non-Fiction - Honestly, I picked this up because it was recommended for work, but to sum it up, it’s about checklists, it's aim is to teach how systematic lists can be used to avoid mistakes and make complicated tasks more efficient.

Hi! This is about your recent book post. Could you give more of your opinions on "Gwen & Art Are Not in Love" and "Something That May Shock and Discredit You" ? They're both on my TBRs but I haven't gotten around to either one yet.

“Gwen & Art Are Not in Love” was a lot of fun and kind of silly. It does give off YA vibes (not a bad thing if you’re looking for something you really don’t have to think about too much when reading) but I was thoroughly enjoying the story and the characters. If you want an unserious read with a happy ending full of queer characters I would recommend it. I described it to my friend as “taking a messy gay and lesbian friendship to another level.”

“Something That May Shock and Discredit You” is the best trans autobiography I’ve read so far (maybe ever bc I liked it so much I can’t see anything topping it). The author brings so much humor, pop culture reference, and personal experiences together then effortlessly mashes them together. There were points where I couldn’t stop laughing or grinning. Genuinely such an enjoyable read.

Hear me out! Danny finds his human form slowly getting more eldrich as he gets older (and more powerful) and ends up going to Gotham where people are way less likely to ask questions!

Sadly when the people of Gotham see Danny, oops my shadow has eyes now, Fenton they just assume he's gonna be a new Rouge!

Que the bat fam watching Danny waiting for him to make his move, over-analyzing everything he does. Mans can't even buy a new laptop without Bruce breathing down his neck about it

This would be an issue if Danny wasn't such a little troll, and he starts buying more obviously ominous things only to openly use them in improperly boring and normal ways. Like buys a death lazer and can be seen using it to make toast, buys a cursed box full of death themed artifacts and uses it as a coffee table, that kinda stuff.

Every time the bat's assume 'this is it!' And gets ready to take him down, only to see Danny setting up a new 'coat rack' made of kriptonite

Even better when they see him tinkering on some kind of doomsday device, the kind that looks super evil and dangerous and even has a red count down timer on the front and- it's a fucking air frier again! He already has three! Why does he keep making air friers?! Obviously this must be some kind of scheme

I raise you: Danny starts selling his things out to random citizens (they've all been intensely screened). The bats panic thinking this is an attempt to cripple Gotham in one fell swoop. Nope. Ms. Randall just really needed a new air purifier and Danny had a toxin dispenser that was just collecting dust.

I imagine though that he might start to notice that the bats are focusing on him a little too much which is a problem considering there are things going down in Gotham that actually need their attention. But at the same time, our resident ghost boy isn't ready to stop being a menace just yet. So what does he do? Kill too birds with one stone.

Whenever Danny catches wind of a new plot going down, he does something to draw the bats's attention to it. Two Face planning a robbery? Suddenly Danny is showing up to the bank everyday to work on the vault (he offered to reinforce it for free). The bats get so suspicious they focus hard on the bank and discover Two Face's plot before he can do anything.

The bats pat themselves on the back while Danny giggles in the background. Wonder how long it will take for them to figure out what's going on.

thinking of joining the ukyt writer community but please tell me how to get over the excrutiating fear of once ending up in a "reading my fans fanfics" video bc its the only thing holding me back rn 😭😭😭

Wow! Okay this is a first someone has asked me for advice. I hope I answer this well. Apologies for taking a while to reply, I wanted to think this through and put it in a way that would hopefully make sense!

First, I do have to say you need to be 18+ to join the server! So please keep that in mind!

So, my suggestion is:

Start small, but START

Write the tiny things that feel safe to you. So they can be drabbles, headcanons, or a just for me snippet. Write it out, spellcheck, have one last read of it the day after you write it or hand it over to someone to read then POST IT. POST THAT SHIT. SEND IT TO THE VOID THAT IS THE INTERNET. Then leave Tumblr for a bit, do some laundry, go for a walk, whatever, just let it exist without touching it because you could take it back and private it. Don't do this! Let people enjoy your work! Also, don't feel disheartened that you won't get many interactions straightaway. It takes time!

Write what YOU want to write

Try out different genres! Write out different fics for fluff, romance, slow burn, angst, smut, hurt/no comfort, crackfic, the list is endless! Don't wait for requests. Start on something you want to see more of!

They read it and LOVE it → Nice! They giggle at a funny line → Sweet spot, this is magic They roast it → You become a meme for about a week until the next thing happens And honestly, at the end of the day if you ever end up in the video, that just means you made it!

Don't let the feeling of being embarrassed of the possibility of being in the video hold you back!
