Can people just say they like Zutara better and move on? You know, instead of bashing Kataang in main tags, harassing "rival" shippers, and/or inventing all these weird ass reasons as to why the entire fandom should hate Katara and Aang together?
If I have to see one more take claiming that Katara/Aang is misogynistic, abusive, pedo, or a self-insert ship, I'm going to tear my fucking hair out.
AtLA ended over 15 years ago. Kataang is canon. For fucks sake, get over it.

Reasons why someone may not like a ship without having moral beef with it:
The writing in canon was badly written.
The fanon for this ship mischaracterizes one of them in a way they can't stand.
They hate the character designs, and/or get eyestrain from them standing next to each other.
They hate one of the tropes used in the ship.
Making this ship happen would go against their headcanons.
They don't like the arc/story beats where this ship got content.
They don't like one of the CHARACTERS.
All the BNFs ship this, and they got tired of it.
An absolute jackass shipped this, and the ship was tarnished because of that.
They haven't gotten to the point in canon where they met.
It reminds them of a past relationship, and in a bad way.
They prefer another ship.

Zeeks: “B-but! Katara marrying Zuko would help better the relations between the Fire Nation and the Water Tribe!”
My guy, Katara can do all that without marrying into the monarchy that colonized and slaughtered her people. Let her have her agency- damn.

Every time an anti complains about pro-shippers making the fandom for an ADULT property unsafe for minors, I am reminded of obnoxious parents complaining about violent M-rated video games being unsuitable for children.
It's especially funny when the source material itself already has problematic shit in it. Like, when the fandom you're trying to keep "safe from pro-shippers" already has those same tropes you're rallying so hard against baked into the source material itself, why are you even here to begin with?

The Zuko x Mai defenders of ATLA fandom are genuinely so funny due to how hard they try to defend that absolutely ass ship…I see some say how Zuko is happiest with Mai? And how Mai is the only one to make him smile? When dawg- Iroh, Ursa, the Gaang at the end of S3, etc all exist. Mai IS NOT the only person to make him smile when they’re not arguing. 😭 I’m still re watching ATLA and I’m not done yet but I don’t even recall any scene where Zuko worried about Mai in the Boiling Rock episode after she defended them. ☠️

One day one day the tw fandumb will learn that a lot of people hate Scott because he's a poorly written character wit little to no redeeming qualities that have nothing to do wit Tyler Posey being half Mexican
Also the fact yall continue to use Tyler being half mexican as an excuse for people dislike of his character shows yall just token stan him cause if yall really cared about racism yall would use this same energy on Boyd, Kira, Mason, Danny, and the other poc characters that were poorly mistreated and badly written

I have a question about Fleur. You and a lot of other people act like she is this unfairly victimized character, but if I remember correctly, wasn't she really rude in canon?
It seems like you're genuinely asking and not just bashing the character, so I'll give you an honest answer.
I feel like Fleur tends to be treated by her stans in a similar way that Percy is (see this post). She's an interesting character because she is flawed, but then antis will go so far overboard with criticism that it causes a knee-jerk reaction to just say, "You know what? Forget it. She's perfect."
She has a lot of great qualities that are often overlooked. She is brave, fiercely loyal to the people she loves, and willing to forgive others (such as Molly & Ginny).
She's also more relatable than people tend to realize. Yes, she's this gorgeous part veela character, but some of her experiences are pretty consistent with any other person on the planet.
For example, look at this scene from Book 4 after the Second Task:
“Fleur Delacour, though she demonstrated excellent use of the Bubble-Head Charm, was attacked by grindylows as she approached her goal, and failed to retrieve her hostage. We award her twenty-five points.” Applause from the stands. “I deserved zero,” said Fleur throatily, shaking her magnificent head.
Most of us have felt self-critical and disappointed in ourselves at one point or another.
In that same book, it's clear that Fleur has a crush on Cedric & is constantly trying to flirt with him, yet when she asks him to the Yule Ball, he turns her down to go with Cho instead.
Again, most of us know what rejection feels like, so we can see ourselves in that situation.
Is Fleur flawed as well? Of course. Everyone is.
She can definitely be arrogant and rude:
“She looked at me like I was a sea slug or something. Didn’t even answer..."
&
Meanwhile Fleur Delacour was criticizing the Hogwarts decorations to Roger Davies. “Zis is nothing,” she said dismissively, looking around at the sparkling walls of the Great Hall. “At ze Palace of Beauxbatons, we ’ave ice sculptures all around ze dining chamber at Chreestmas. Zey do not melt, of course . . . zey are like ’uge statues of diamond, glittering around ze place. And ze food is seemply superb. And we ’ave choirs of wood nymphs, ’oo serenade us as we eat. We ’ave none of zis ugly armor in ze ’alls, and eef a poltergeist ever entaired into Beauxbatons, ’e would be expelled like zat.” She slapped her hand onto the table impatiently.
&
'No, no, silly boy,’ said Fleur with a tinkling laugh, ‘I mean next summer, when we – but do you not know?’ Her great blue eyes widened and she looked reproachfully at Mrs Weasley, who said, ‘We hadn’t got around to telling him yet.’ Fleur turned back to Harry, swinging her silvery sheet of hair so that it whipped Mrs Weasley across the face. ‘Bill and I are going to be married!’
&
‘She ’as let ’erself go, zat Tonks,’ mused Fleur, examining her own stunning reflection in the back of a teaspoon. ‘A big mistake, if you ask –’
&
Celestina ended her song on a very long, high-pitched note and loud applause issued out of the wireless, which Mrs Weasley joined in with enthusiastically. ‘Eez eet over?’ said Fleur loudly. ‘Thank goodness, what an ’orrible –’
&
‘Yes, isn’t it?’ said Ron. ‘Gravy, Fleur?’ In his eagerness to help her, he knocked the gravy boat flying; Bill waved his wand and the gravy soared up in the air and returned meekly to the boat. ‘You are as bad as zat Tonks,’ said Fleur to Ron, when she had finished kissing Bill in thanks. ‘She is always knocking –’
So clearly, Fleur is not perfect, but one of the major problems is that JKR seems to constantly exaggerate secondary female character's flaws (like Fleur, Lavender, Parvati, etc.) to fit in with the negative stereotype of feminine women.
Plus, it's very frustrating that Fleur is the only female competitor in the Triwizard Tournament, and yet she consistently does worse than her male counterparts on each task. That's misogyny and absolute BS on JKR's part.
So to summarize, Fleur fans do tend to be very protective of her (to the point of erasing her flaws), but it's a direct result/backlash of fandom's/society's opinion on the worth of feminine women.
Thanks for the ask! 😊

Hilarious that with the rumors about the possible confirmation on the theory that Aegon the Conqueror’s true motivation for conquering Westeros was to unite the kingdoms to winstand the invasion of the Others from the north, I’ve seen a lot of complains from people who claim that this would “take away from the complexity of the Targaryen dynasty and their morality.” Yeah because depicting the Targaryens as a family consisting exclusively of one note villains and “imperialist” (they’re actually a feudalist monarchy, but I’ve stopped expecting people to know the difference a long time ago) is far more compelling. Of course.

I know dunking on Zutarians is fun and all, but can we please talk about Tyzulaians? Cause they are almost as delusional, if not more than, Zutarians. Maybe they might have been friends when they were kids, but all of Ty Lee's interactions with Azula in the show are clearly that of someone deathly afraid of their superior snapping, and therefore kissing ass much as possible. For fucks sake, the advice Ty Lee gives to Azula during that Ember Island party in regards to getting boys is what she uses to placate her. And even though basically every single piece of post-Sozin's Comet media has all but said that she loathes Azula to the point that she eventually overcame her fear of her so she could hunt her down, Tyzulaians still cling to their ship.
And have you seen the ridiculous handwaving they do in regards to Azula's dream world showing her have a male love interest? I've even seen edits on TikTok where they blurred out Ruon-Jian.
Also, just like Zutarians like to call anyone who disagrees with their ship racist and sexist, among other things, Tyzulaians call anyone who disagrees with their ship lesbophobic, even if the person doing the criticism are queer themselves.
I know that Zutarians have engaged in mass delusion ever since Korra made their ship explicitly fanon, but I really wonder what is going to happen once we get hard confirmation that neither Ty Lee or Azula are queer, or if or both them are, Tyzula is not thing on one or both of their parts? Especially in regards to Azula stans that are also hard-core Tyzula shippers considering the current comics writer got death threats by a crazed Azula stan that made her wary of writing a comic involving Azula for quite sometime?
Yes, please, Anon!
I am always down to call out the toxic Tyzula shippers, and have done so on this blog several times.
I've seen everything you're talking about more times than I can count. The lesbophobia accusations, the copium, and essentially gaslighting themselves into believing their ship is/was canon and that Azula is 100% a lesbian.
Just today, I witnessed them claiming that SOKKLA is a self-insert ship beloved by men who identify with Sokka. Probably the worst case of projection I've ever encountered in this fandom, considering Tyzula shippers are pretty much all just baby gays self-inserting as either Azula or Ty Lee (usually Ty Lee). From what I've seen, Sokkla shippers are mostly women so we're definitely not inserting ourselves as Sokka lol nonsensical.
"Just write a self-insert, you cowards!" - decries a discord user named "Azula kisses women". Absolute clown shoes.
Their favorite thing to do though, aside from going out of their way to bully people who like other ships, is deny canon by saying Azula's interest in Chan was "comphet". Yes, comphet is a real thing but can we be honest with ourselves and say that was not the intent of the writers? No one was gay in a 2005 children's cartoon. And even if Chan was comphet, where does the supposed interest in women come in? If anything, this is an argument for her being asexual or aromantic, because Azula has never shown romantic interest of any kind toward another girl.
But when you criticize this and point out the obvious flaws, they again just say you're lesbophobic, which is their go-to when someone doesn't agree with them.
Honestly, at this point they are just as bad as Zutara shippers, if not worse. And you know why they're acting this way? They're losing and they know it. Sokkla grows stronger by the day, has the best fics and art, and a thriving, supportive community. They're lashing out because they feel threatened... which is actually insane, considering neither ship is canon, and shipping isn't a contest. It's supposed to be fun! Tyzula shippers are straight up ruining the Azula fandom with their toxicity.

So this one guy who blocked me because of a perfectly civil comment pointing out the flaw in something he was saying rather than actually respond and try to debate it then posted this.
Which may as well read:
Tumblr media
It's the nostalgia strawman, the same one mentioned 5 and a half minutes into this video. It also comes up in this one and this one. And as the arguments posit in those videos, it's bullshit used as an easy way to avoid true critical engagement. However, I still want to say my piece on this post, even if the person who made it tried to stop me through blocking.
"All the writing problems in KH3 are present in KH2"
Hahahahahaha, no. Absolutely not.
Granted, I did make sure to bolden "all" since of course it's an objective fact that some of the writing problems in KH3 are indeed present in KH2 - both Tetsuya Nomura and Masaru Oka are writers on both, so it would be impossible for that not to be the case. However, let's see if this person's examples of such shared problems holds up.
Retcons
Nope. There was only one retcon in KH2, which is the retcon around Ansem's identity, which I've already discussed at length. That is literally the only time where something from a prior game got changed around, and it was already being set up in CoM. That is lightyears ahead of the retcons in KH3, several of which are retcons on a more fundamental level than just who someone really is (ex: Xigbar being Luxu is a retcon that I hate, but it's not affecting anything fundamental - it's the retcon of what he did in the past that is the true problem.)
A glut of characters with strange and poorly explained motivations
Nope. The motivations of DiZ and Organization XIII respectively were not remotely strange given their circumstances and were explained very clearly; some could argue they were overexplained. A world of difference from, say, Ansem and Saix's obsessions with Subject X, a character who isn't even a part of KH3's story.
New mechanics that don't get adequately explained
All right, I give them this one. Hell, that's been a thing since KH1.
Relying on you to play and understand side games to grasp the baseline plot.
Nope. There was only one side game at the time of KH2, which was CoM. And it was only needed to fully grasp KH2's prologue....and I say fully grasp because KH2, prologue included, was conceived before CoM was, so the prologue was always going to be intentionally confusing. Once we reach the actual baseline plot with Sora, Donald and Goofy, CoM is no longer an issue since they act like they're picking up fresh off the end of KH1.
Awkwardly rehashing the plot of Disney movies for 90% of the game and then having the bulk of the plot in the last 5 hours
Nope. The linked videos already debunked this fallacy, but for elaboration: KH2 did actually have plot-relevant events occur in half of the Disney world visits and it had a midway point where a huge chunk of the plot transpired, meaning "the bulk of the plot in the last 5 hours" is a damned lie as far as KH2 is concerned. Meanwhile, "awkwardly rehashing the plot of Disney movies for 90% of the game" makes one question if this person played either KH2 or KH3, because it doesn't apply to either of them! Three visits in each of them rehash the movie's plot (KH2: Land of Dragons 1, Port Royal 1, and Pride Land 1; KH3: Kingdom of Corona, Arendelle, The Caribbean), with one visit also having many elements of the movie's plot (KH2: Atlantica, KH3: Olympus), but otherwise the Disney worlds did their own stories.
Shafting Kairi
Half-right. Both games did shaft Kairi, but comparing the way KH2 did it with the way KH3 did it is apples and oranges, since Kairi was still a civilian damsel in KH2 and despite the shafting got to participate in its conclusion and begin her own path as a combatant; Kairi in KH3 was a combatant who spent most of the game training for that combatant role and it ended up resulting in her not participating in the conclusion because she died, got restored, only to be kidnapped and then die again. And no, Re:Mind doesn't retroactively absolve KH3 of this, especially given that the positive treatment Kairi receives there doesn't even last into the Limitcut Episode and the following game, MoM.
Imo KH3 does a somewhat better job at threading its information into a smooth plot than KH2
Nope. The "information" you speak of, objectively, is all information about past games or even future games. The only information that is relevant to pushing forward the narrative of KH3 as was established at the start of the game ("gather these specific seven Keyblade wielders to go fight Xehanort and his organization at the Keyblade Graveyard") is the stuff with Vexen and the replicas....which not only had a huge chunk of it missing until Re:Mind, but also might not have even been needed since Nomura said he considered doing the story without resurrecting Roxas and Xion in the climax.
So in total, this post only had one thing completely correct (both KH2 and KH3, and all KH games for that matter, have new mechanics that don't get adequately explained because Nomura is just like that), and one thing partially correct (both KH2 and KH3 shaft Kairi, but pretending the shafting is in any way equivalent is a logical fallacy). Everything else listed isn't actually comparable to KH3 at all, proving once again that this isn't a nostalgia filter issue. It's a legitimate observation that KH3 suffered terribly from the decision to bog it down with connections to so many other games and from Nomura and Oka getting rid of all their co-contributors like Kazushige Nojima, Daisuke Watanabe and Harunori Sakemi.

Okay, I’m going to need this person in particular to shut the fuck up.
Tumblr media
“Even if she had colonized trauma…”
What’s this “Even if” bullshit? SHE HAS colonized trauma. She watched as Fire Nation soldiers LITERALLY INVADED HER HOME AND MURDERED HER MOTHER.
“How is a woman of an oppressed people becoming the fucking queen of the nation that oppressed her people and working to enact change and better the world for her people not be the most badass thing in the world.”
Better question, why the FUCK would Katara want to be Fire Lady in the first place? Why THE FUCK would she want to be involved with the royal family that murdered her people, along with Aang’s people.
Here’s your answer: SHE DOESN’T. Why? SHE DOESNT LOVE ZUKO. SHE DOESN’T WANT TO MARRY ZUKO. Maybe your own little made-up of ZK version of Katara does and would want to be, but not the Katara that was actually shown within the show.
“People act like her being fire lady would relegate her to being a trophy wife.”
I mean, canonically, The Fire Lady holds no political power to the nation at all. As far as we’re shown they’re only relevant to produce heirs to the Fire Nation Monarchy.
“That’s just not in character for her at all.”
You know what else is out of character for Katara? Being the Fire Lady and wanting to marry Zuko.
(Side eyes Lok)
Even if LoK the animated show didn’t show it, post-series source material showed that Katara was involved with politics. And that’s with being married to Aang. You’re the ones that are projecting the “Katara is Aang’s trophy wife.” trope.
“Katara as Fire Lady would be at the center of reform, bettering the world for the Southern Water Tribe and the common-folk of the Fire Nation and putting stuck up close minded Fire nation novels in their place.”
Riiight, Katara can only do this as long as she’s Fire Lady. It’s not like she has her own agency or anything and can do all that WITHOUT EVEN NEEDING TO BE.
FFS she can work on reform and better relations with the nations WITHOUT having to marry into the monarchy that killed her people.
Also, Katara is not Zuko’s girl. Zuko does not (romantically) love Katara. She’s happily married to Aang and helping him change the world, thank you.
Again, maybe your own little made up Zeekay version of Katara would want this. Your little version of Katara who doesn’t give a shit about the carnage that was imposed onto her people by the Fire Nation. But canon Katara? The one who lost her mother to the Fire Nation after they raided her home? She wants nothing to do with the Fire Nation Monarchy.

Just found about about the FiMFetch debacle.
Basically, the operator of an MLP fanfiction archive not only deleted all "foalcon" related stories from the archive, but also went on a moral crusade to call out as many people who create and/or consume this content as they could find.
Their definition of what counts as "foalcon" turned out to be incredibly broad, and includes aged up depictions, non-sexual stories that just happen to be marked as mature, and even artwork of adults that just happens to have the "younger" tag. (i.e. the elderly Granny Smith as a young mare)
At least one artist was put on the list, not because of anything they actually drew as most of their work is SFW, but because of NSFW edits of their artwork that they did not create.
And the cherry on top of this whole shitshow? A discord screenshot was leaked where this righteous moral crusader admitted to having, in their own words, "a weakness for Scootaloo" when sent an explicit image of the character.
Just want to make it clear that I don't like foalcon myself, and to be fair, some of the people on the list were also alleged groomers, and at least one person had actually been arrested by police for possession of CSEM (presumably REAL CSEM), but why am I not surprised that the person who went on a moral crusade against fictional smut turned out to be a projecting hypocrite with a taste for chicken?
EDIT: It has come to my attention that the artist in question has drawn some explicit works, none of which involve underage characters. They are still on the list because of an edit featuring their artwork, not because of anything they drew themselves.
