Murder Drones episode 8 spoilers

I've been told to treat this like a thesis, or at least a plan for one! :D

So... nothing really gets explained?

Who was the solver? Why was it so hellbent on killing everyone? Why did it want to kill all the drones? Why did it kill all the humans? The character development that it had an edgy reason for killing humans thanks to being mistreated by them, so does it just kill for no reason? What happened to Cyn? She shouldn't have just melted away because her heart was torn out, I was hoping they'd pick her up and study her or something. Who were the witches anyway? What did Nori do that Alice said was a betrayal? How did V figure out that "Tessa" was Cyn? Why was J knowingly following the orders of Cyn? No emotional conflict about betraying Tessa? Why was Cyn evil anyway? Was she evil before she came back from the dead?

Yeva doesn't show up? What happened to her? Why was the solver eating hearts?

And... no character development for J? Or Tessa? Or Doll? Or Khan? Or Thad? Or anyone really?

What was up with that one raptor who swapped sides to the drones? It really looked at V kill like 50 of them and went 'hm yeah, I'll join them lol'

Why didn't it help Alice? Or the other disassembly drones that came before the main three (excluding Flesha)? Why did it only activate to save V? What made it special from the other raptors? How did V know that it would try to protect her? And why does it appear sapient enough to play chess and wear a hat, but attack Lizzy for no reason?

Who made the cross thing capable of destroying the Solver?

I get the feeling a lot of things were scrapped.

Years ago, Liam said that 'we mightn't like what we find' when questioning the drones origins, implying that the drones had a nasty backstory. The murder drones series is over and we still don't have answers other than 'they're industrial drones to mine planets'. I was thinking they would be made from former humans or something? Or that the absolute solver was shattered into pieces to form their consciousnesses, and she was killing them to get those parts of her back, and that the murder drones needed to consume other drones because they were designed to collect more power for her.

J hesitated and seemed confused or hurt that Flesha told her to guard the ship, like she didn't know it was Cyn she was following. Also, J's an inconsistant character, she said she would follow the Solver because it's good to be on the winning side, but during the gala when it was clear that Cyn had the upper hand, she didn't betray Tessa, and even fought Cyn with a sword!

What happened with the experiments in cabinet 9? Who were the rest of the test subjects? What happened with Nori? Yeva was teased a lot but she didn't make an appearance.

The last episode had a few cool fight scenes, and the visuals were cool, but that's around all the positive things I can say for it. I'm glad that the solver is dead though. While... N and V stay in the colony and continue to murder people because they feel like it? Do they ever get rid of their need to drink oil, or stay out of the sun?

Also, what's Cyn going to do now that she's possessing Uzi's tail? She doesn't seem that upset about it at all, Uzi seemed more upset about Doll being the prom queen in memorial than the fact her would-be-murderer who's done significantly worse things is now stuck to her.

Why'd they have to disrespect Doll even more in this episode than they did in the last... it's a meme but story wise it doesn't really make sense imho

my thoughts and theories on ep 5

starting with the things i did like, i think the animation + visuals are overall very consistent for the series so far. the tone of the episode was a bit more serious because, well... akutaro and the gang war and the growing tensions between characters.

we finally got see the full flashback of matakara and arajin's backstory and it was a nice surprise to see how matakara stood up for himself and arajin of course runs away (understandable) but i'm hoping in future episodes we get more on their pasts (with matakara's brother too. maybe the reason his brother is in juvie is because he did something bad to the bullies and he didn't tell/lied to matakara? this could be interesting later on) and how it affects the present and future character growth. I hope we also get to see the reason why arajin moved away as it’ll help us understand his character more (literally running away from circumstances. A lot of his character is running away and how he has to confront it) akutaro is a fun villain! a complete dramatic and horny menace. i'm so glad he got his face punched in. i wonder how he got ichiya (what influence does ichiya have over him/he have over ichiya?) and if he’ll continue to be the series’ big bad later on or if he’ll just be the antag for this arc.

the good thing about arajin being so indecisive about joining anyone is that we get to see how each gang operates. this time, we see the ng boys (and girls?? they have girls too) and how akutaro has everyone under his finger. he uses fear and threats to manipulate them into doing what he wants, forces them to do his dirty work. we also see how he got kicked out of minatokai and a bit of kenichiro and marito's battle in the background. i wonder how the blue majin will merge with matakara because it's foreshadowed heavily. (“no doubt those kicks are ichiya’s” and matakara’s fighting style revolves around them) right now the blue majin is with akutaro) i’m also dying to know senya’s motives and past with ichiya and how it could tie into the conflict between their person.

i feel like the gag of arajin and his *cough* rampant thinking with his dick is starting to wear on my nerves a bit, but i don't HATE him. i get that his character is supposed to be poking fun at that trope. i think what's interesting is that you could point out that male characters who are considered to be strong also happen to have lots of connections + affections (platonic or romantic) toward other men. arajin by contrast, rejects it in favour of chasing after women (maybe it’s what he thinks will prove his masculinity to others? or it's like. a distraction from his issues?)

maybe it’s not that deep, but it's something i wanted to point out anyway.

on the topic of arajin: my biggest worry is that while i DO have hope arajin's character development is on the way soon, i am concerned that they'll start it too late (like ep 10 which is unlikely but) and not give us enough time to fully sympathize or connect with his relationship towards matakara and the others around him. i understand he's supposed to be a selfish and unlikeable character, but i feel with like there's only so long you can stretch out the drama before it wears thin if you don’t expand on it; which is something have hope that they’ll do since there’s a lot of setup there.

i know arajin’s character is why most people are dropping the anime, but i'm hoping most people will at least be patient for the development. we're only at episode 5. (like sk8 for example had the conflict span from ep 7-10. this is a larger scale conflict so ofc it'd take longer) bucchigiri has a lot of potential, and i’m hoping they’ll stick the landing.

(i also need to see the fight between kenichiro and marito next ep ; i know it'll be awesome.) with the title of the next ep's title being "much much friendship! 'nira-reba'-lution 21!" i do hope we get to see much, much more in terms of friendships (a falling out maybe?) , arajin-related or otherwise. i'm excited to see where the anime goes next!

Rewatched Bumblebee movie so Alert: random thoughts of sleep deprived person go--

Bumblebee has hella powerful legs. Not only when he uses them in fight, but also when he jumps.

I just love how Bumblebee uses his legs in combat, like hell yeah dude! They may catchin' those hands but they ain't catchin' those legs (they actually did couple of times but shhhh).

Fight sequences are muah. Love them, the best ones in Transformers movies I think. I'm not sure but I also think they were storyboarded/planned by animator so if it's truth it does explain things lol.

Bumblebee is smaller and weaker than the Decepticons he has come to fight, and he doesn't just use their weight or size against them, but all the time seems to be looking for an advantage in his surroundings. This is likely not very unique to him, but it clearly stands out when his opponents the moment they realized their advantage wanted to simply overpower Bee.

Also love how everyone is trying to use their alt-mode during combat.

They could have done more with the fact that G1 Bumblebee was said to like swimming, and Charlie was swimmer in the past (specifically was in school's dive team if I remember correctly). Like some kind of bonding scene? Whatever, it was just such an opportunity. (And I know we had this seconds-post-end-battle scene but it is not what I'm talking about at all if it makes sense???)

Shatter often folds her hands behind her back in a gesture that I personally associate with a business woman (also in base scene she and military man both hold hands that way when talking so yeah). I feel that this reinforces her image as the leader/representative of the duo when Dropkick maintains a looser posture. Just cool body language.

I didn't pay attention to this in the movie, but I was reminded of how someone noticed the Autobot symbol on Shockwave's arm. If that's true, they could make it cool to pull it up under Senator Shockwave's MTMTE-style backstory, or maybe some variation of the spy (before he was known as a Decepticon, especially a high-level one) in TFA style. As far as I know the entire thing was because of recycling model parts but still.

I don't like Bumblebee's camaro root-mode. Idk, he was all round and huggable almost the entire movie, even when he had jeep as alt-mode, and then he is all blocky :((. Maybe it's because even as jeep he still has his chest mostly flat and as camaro it moves so much forward. His Cybertronian root-mode also has chest moved forward a bit but it's a lot more aerodynamic (you know what I mean) so he still looks round. Like, he is huggable all the time and then his camaro-boob looks like it would cut you. Idk how to say it, hope you get what I'm trying to communicate anyway :')

I really like how Decepticons were casually showing off that they are Triplechangers. I understand why they were doing this from storytelling point of view but it's still funny from in-universe one. ("Look how cool and badass we are.") I'm probably turning it up but oh well.

Also this will be a bit off but I never liked the idea of hammer as Bumblebee's weapon. Like his thing almost always was being small, kinda fast and not very strong and boom. They give him one of the weapons that is most effective welded by someone big, strong who doesn't loose much fighting weapon that kinda slows them down a bit (I think hammer does but you can correct me lol) because damn, this thing is big, at least in his serwos.

Plus, still on the hammer's topic, actual war hammers had this spike on the one end of the head so you could actually pierce armor of your opponent or just your opponent but not this one. This one is just for smashing like your mom's meat mallet. Ok, I'm done with this saltyness lol

But really, hammer as weapon doesn't fit Bee at all. Or it's just me.

Mickey and Friends X Madoka Magica

Soul Gems

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted any of my work and since I finally have a break from school, I decided to do a little something.

It’s no secret for those that have seen my page that I’m a Disney and Madoka Magica fan, so I combined the two.

I drew eight soul gems for Mickey and Friends and I might draw more in the future but for now I’ll show the eight I have.

Before I do show you I will make it clear that yes I did use a templates for something of the drawings. All these templates were free to use templates online. With that out of the way, here ya go!

This soul gem belongs to the mouse man himself! If this gets turned into an actual comic or fanfic then Mickey is the Madoka of the story. He has a lot of love for his friends and wants to help anyway he can, thus giving him the heart shape.

This soul gem belongs to my favorite duck (besides Scrooge). Donald’s soul gem can be looked at in two ways. One is that it’s a rain drop and the other is that it’s a tear drop. Either way, it related to him being a sailor and his water manipulation abilities.

This soul gem belongs to everyone’s favorite clumsy dog dad! Goofy was a hard character to make. Mainly because I didn’t know what theme to give his outfit and gem. I eventually settled on a cross for his soul gem shape, mainly because crosses are used as a symbol of protection.

This dazzling soul gem belongs to our sassy, but kind Daisy. Daisys soul gem does look a lot like Homuras, but she is not the Homura of the story funnily enough. I decided on giving her the Diamond shape, because after all, diamonds are a girls best friend.

This one belongs to our gentle and sweet Minnie. Minnie was another hard character to make, since a lot of her story was made from head-cannons. This design is one I’m really proud of and it makes me happy whenever I see it.

This beautiful orange soul gem belongs to our hyper musical rooster. Despite Panchito not having much in terms of canon backstory, he was one of the more easy characters to make. The reason he was easy is because I knew right away what his abilities would be and what he’d wish for. His personality was also very fun to play with.

It’s time for my favorite green parrot! Josè is probably one of my favorite Disney characters ever, so I had a lot of fun creating his character. I knew exactly what his powers were gonna be, I just had to find a wish and make a backstory that corresponded to it. I hope I was able to do this magical bird justice!

And now we finally got to the Homura of the story! Mister Oswald the Lucky Rabbit! Deciding who was gonna be the Homura of the story was difficult. I went from character to character to decided who would be best, before I settled on Mickeys brother. I’m still working on Oswald’s story, since his relationship with Mickey is way different from Madoka and Homura. However, it’ll be cool once I’m done.

Now this is a rough drawing of what all their soul gems look like when they transform into their magical forms. I plan on updating them soon to look more like accessories like in the anime once I have more time. Here is what I plan to have them look like (These are subject to change)

Goofy: A necklace

Daisy: A gem on a hair accessory

Minnie: A garter

Panchito: A belt buckle

Josè: A bow tie

Oswald: An earring

I'm rewatching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood cause it's been literally a decade since I've watched it.

So cheers, I have a reaction thread (because I'm a sentimental bitch)

Episode 1:

God, I've forgotten how it immediately just got to the action in the first episode. Like, it set up everything and gave a glimpse of nearly all important character.

Poor Isaac, was probably manipulated, but ultimately led himself to his own demise. Very bold though.

And god, I think I was too depressed at the time of watching it, but the Eldric brother's backstory was so painful with that small glimpse.

Episode 2:

I cannot for the life of me understand why this shit didn't affect me as much as it should've as a kid. It might've depression that numbed my emotions, but I guess we'll never know.

Anyway, my point is, this is is traumatizing, and that's me saying this as an adult. The backstory and the short glimpses of the mom, as well as the clear love and dedication they had for her? The way that Ed didn't even hesitate to try and find more truth? The way he dragged himself, bleeding leg and all, to the armor to shove it down, and connect his brothers soul to it???

And god, the way I just kept whisper-shouting when they came to recruit him, cause I didn't remember shit, going-

But man, as someone is is now so much older than Ed is in the anime, they make him act a kid. A very smart, powerful and purposeful kid, but a kid nonetheless. He's so young and you can just feel it in the little things he does. He does not have his shit together and is still figuring some shit out.

Episode 3:

I love the comedy this anime has. It has the funny little pauses and the interuption of what should be serious moments without ruining the actual serious moments.

It is exactly my cup of tea, with a silly joke that just poked fun at a kid or being, well. A kid. He's small, and that joke may remind He's small but I can also remind you that he is so much younger than his peers.

I am an atheist so I do have the same kinda mindset about God that Edward has. Rose has this sort of annoying mindset of God and his priests being this answer to all suffering and anyone who disagrees will suffer divine Punishment. It is frustrating at the start.

But I can fully understand where she's coming from by the end. She clung onto this hope, this prayer that someone she loved so much will eventually be revived. Rose then meets the brothers who lost someone they loved, and tried to being back as well. She saw the consequences and felt terrified. But she spent so long just clinging onto this hope that she desperately wants it to be true. So she argues, trying to convince herself that Cornella was telling the truth and she didn't waste so long praying for something that didn't exist.

People can find comfort in the idea of God(s). The idea that there is someone looking after everyone and offering guidance is reassuring for some.

That was not Rose's situation.

Rose's situation is more akin to having a loved one suffering from a terminal disease and convincing yourself that prayers and God will be able to do what science could not. You can not pray for the impossible. You can pray for hope, for guidance or for even a fast recovery. But you need to understand that even if you wish for something impossible, you cannot spend your life wasting away on these prayers and refuse to do anything else.

Rose needed to stop clinging in general because she was clinging on to something impossible that compelled her to try and attempt awful things. She needed to learn to stand on her own. Maybe she could one day find hope in God again, but it wouldn't be anytime soon.

Man, I went on a rant there.

Anyway, I just wanted to type all that put because my mind just felt like analysing for a bit.

I forgot what the philosopher stone even did until now. I remembered that it was powerful but I that was about it. Now I remember, it was shit about defying the rule of absolute equivalence.

I am kinda happy I forgot majority of the lore of this anime, it makes it fun to put all the pieces together again as an adult who can process things and analyse better.

Episode 4:

This hurts.

This hurts so much. They were so happy, and acting like actual kids. They played all sorts of games with Nina and Alexander. It was so bright. They were so bright.

But Tucker, the motherfucker, only saw what he was bound to lose instead of what he had. He tried to work his way through it, but eventually just gave up.

My heart sank when I heard him ask Nina to play the next day. It broke even more when heard Nina say, in that voice that doesn't belong to a kid, "onii-chan".

He sacrificed everything just to save his title pf State Alchemist. He gave up his wife and then his daughter and the respect of these kids.

God, I hate him. I understand him and his desperation and I hate him.

Scar is back though. We love scar man. He's weird but core to the story and has every right to hate State Alchemists.

Again, when I was a kid, I didn't feel much. This episode never hit me as hard as it does now. Back then, I though the Eldric brothers were being dramatic about the whole thing.

Now it just strikes me so hard how fucked up it wad to be willing to experiment on your own kid for a stupid title. To mutate her into an existence that was nothing like her human one.

Brotherhood didn't make it blatantly, but it was mentioned time and again, just how painful it was to be a chimera in the original. Nina was in pain and Tucker knew this.

I fully understand why this hurt the Eldric brothers so much now. That was horrid. And to be able to even see a semblance of yourself in that was painful.

But anyway, I only started watching Naruto in 2017 with my brother who has been watching it since 2002 and with all of my Kakashi obsession ppl would think that I fell for Kakashi right from the start but actually, unlike most Kakashi fans, that was not the case for me.. my first impression about Kakashi was as everyone else "oh this guy is so cool" and I was pretty much neutral, up until that moment when Kakashi chose to teach Sasuke Chidori and leave Naruto to Ebisu and I was so angry, like I literally paused the episode just to scream at Kakashi's face like.. "how could you leave the baby 😭 he needs YOU! gdi not stupid Ebisu" and I kept watching and kept being angry at Kakashi until we got to see the flashback between Kakashi and Jiraiya when Jiraiya asked him to leave Naruto to him and focus on Sasuke and why this was the best choice for both Naruto and Sasuke and then I started to think also about all of the aspects about Sasuke's situation with the cursed mark, Orochimaro and Gaara and all.. and the fact that Kakashi didn't actually abandon Naruto at all, he made the right logical choice only when he was sure that Naruto too was safe and in good hands and just like that all of the anger turned into admiration and starting from this point my love for Kakashi started to grow, he wasn't my favorite character yet but he got my attention and that's when I realized that Kakashi is doing so much actually, he cares a lot and he's very kind but you have to pay attention to the details or you'll miss a lot of things because this man is really good at hiding his kindness and giving the credit to everything good he does to other people, he never say in words how much he cares but all of his actions shows how deeply he cares about everyone and how selfless he actually is... Until Shippuden, specifically this part And I turned to my brother and was like "I love him! like I don't like him, no! I LOVE HIM!!" and my brother was like "yeah that's what everyone says at the start we all went through the Kakashi phase but we're still at the beginning, as the story advances you'll see other cool characters and you might like them more" and I furiously shook my head and was like "nope! nah! absolutely not!! I LOVE him!! and this will never change, I'll never love any other character more than this man, nope! I mean, look at him!, no one can ever outdo this!!, he's the love of my life! I KNOW IT!!" And I was right, from this point my love for Kakashi only grew stronger and stronger getting to know more about his backstory and getting to see more of his wholesomeness... No matter how many anime I watch, no matter how many characters I see, no one has ever and will never take this man's place in my heart, it will forever be him.

Sexuality Headcanon: either straight or like. she just Generally has a type (soft, sweet, poor little meow meow -) and therefore does not care about the gender of her partner.

A ship I have with said character: REGIN SUWEN/MARONE FOR THE WIN. i just think they make sense together!!! their personalities mesh really well.... marone is all headstrong and regins more passive yes but theyre also both very earnest sweet people and they balance each other perfectly <3 i also love how marones become regin's vet assistant (her love of animals too T^T her growing fond of ground dragons more after being saved by frufoo...)!! and the tsuchigumo (this little spider-looking spirit iirc from one of the otto related side stories, for those who dont know) is BASICALLY THEIR CHILD NOW.... i love their little family i hope marone and regin get happily married <33

A BROTP I have with said character: OTTO AND MARONE OF COURSE. bad luck buddies who get really headstrong <33 aaa just theyre very sweet!! and similarly to regin, otto is also. More Submissive, in a sense. so of course otto and marone balance each other nicely - and i just think marone's "number two" nickname for otto IS SO SWEET ITS SO. URHGHG I FEEL LIKE IM INHALING SUGAR FROM HOW SWEET IT IS. it makes my little heart melt T^TT and i love the backstory of their little chance encounter where they escape from the bandits trying to sell them into slavery, and then the fact that marone doesnt want to go too far from her hometown so she can find otto again!!! aaa T^TT love them. i also just really like how much otto/regins designs look alongside marone!!! her red hair vs their calmer colors and ottos green is so <333

A NOTP I have with said character: i dont really have any that im very Insistent on.... ig like otto/marone (romantic)? bc they WOULD NEVER.... otto knows his brother is head over heels for her and otto and marone give me sibling energy. they're future siblings in law anyway!!!!!

A random headcanon: MARONE. MAYBE GETS REGIN TO QUIT SMOKING. I DONT KNOW IF FANTASY WORLD CIGARETTES HAVE HEALTH CONSEQUENCES BUT LIKE. MY DUDE YOU ARE A DOCTOR. HAH. regin and otto out here with smoking and drinking respectively as their vices.... they need anxiety meds or something i swear.

additionally.... in pride and wrath if of course, otto becomes a debt slave. i like to think that marone becomes interested in the idea of saving other people from slavery / almost slavery like what otto did for her...... we know that otto saved her months before the start of like. arc 1 i think?? so its like. that event still happened in pride and wrath if. and we know that otto eventually dies in pride if.... im sure the suwens found out about his death somehow, especially if hes just not talked to them for a While... maybe marone could help find out what happened to otto? because im sure it is Worrying when the person in the family with notoriously bad luck has been Completely Silent for a little too long. i doubt pride/wrath otto would contact any of them - he wouldnt want them getting involved. but marone seems like the type that would get involved!!! i think shes smarter than she looks!!!!

General Opinion over said character:

SHE IS SO SWEET. I ADORE HER. SHE LOOKS LIKE SHE'D GIVE GREAT HUGS... I LOVE HER PASSION... i wish the best for her <3 and i think she should get to go insane. shes like... she seems all happy go lucky but her backstory of like :( being sold to bandits as slaves because the people in her town had to give some women over so the city wouldnt get attacked... and then she was there for a while and got saved by otto T^TT and then tsuchigumo stuff happens and she literally just goes "let me tell you about my (totally not tragic) anime backstory to lighten the mood!! :DDD" and then EVERYONE thinks shes bad luck after that.... poor girl :(( but also she is SO STRONG for still being so determined and passionate!! like she KNOWS otto saying he killed bandits on accident is complete and total bullshit. she knows he gave her his own money and not "bounty money". AND THEN SHE LITERALLY SAYS THAT SHES TIRED OF HIDING AWAY AND WAITING AROUND AND TAKING THE WEIGHT OF CRIMES SHE DIDNT COMMIT AND HOW "That frail lady logic isnt my thing at all!" shes so. there may not be too much to her because shes like. a Pretty Minor character. but whats there is so good with the small amount of screentime she has. she eats up every scene shes in. her like Surprising sharpness with how shes fed up with Bullshit (ottos bullshit... and going out to go and do something about the tsuchigumo situation...) is such a neat contrast to her softness too (and makes her a great character to balance out, say, regin or otto)!! shes so cool. i admire her always.

brother crab's winter 2024 parting thoughts: dog signal

alright well yysy it's not much to look at, the animation/art style isn't exactly "modern" or exceptional (though personally i was quite charmed by it)

that aside, this was overall a really pleasant surprise to me!

tl;dr: fun cast with some surprisingly compelling and deep(ish) backstories, would recommend but with the disclaimers that a) it's episodic and b) there's quite a lot of animal mistreatment since each episode is about helping a dog whose person isn't treating it right (most if not all the cases have hopeful endings, but some parts may be hard to watch)

also niwa and samura have the most HILARIOUSLY classic toxic yaoi situationship without any of the fun parts (the actual yaoi), more on that later lmao

full review:

the series is for the most part episodic, with each episode dealing with a dog owner who comes to a certain dog trainer for help. i'm a fan of a good episodic series, even when the episodes can be hit or miss, so the structure was very enjoyable for me

the stories of the main cast were surprisingly compelling, too. it seemed like it would be just a very silly show—what with it starting with a guy (cv knb murasakibara) walking another guy (cv knb kuroko) around on a leash in public for two hours—but the character backstories that were revealed throughout the series did actually feel delightfully nuanced to me

(for example "yeah that old man did hit a dog and that's not great but the dog in question was biting the shit out of the kid he sees as a son so it's not... not understandable that he would react that way and while i'm not saying he should be proud of hitting a dog i guess i am saying it does suck for him that son guy hated him and went no contact for years for it")

one of my favorite episodes, ironically, barely involved the main cast at all. most of the episodes deal with this dog training business training dogs (shock!) but in this one episode, fairly late in the series, the owner was a struggling mangaka suffering from immense social anxiety, whose only friend was his dog who one day suddenly loses his hearing

that's such a tough thing that you really wouldn't explain anyone to know how to handle on their own without training. the mangaka even runs into the mc (trainee dog trainer) early in the episode and receives a business card for the dog training shop, but instead of taking his dog in, he does his best on his own to develop ways to communicate with his newly deaf dog

and it works! not only does he find a way to keep his dog comfortable with him, his efforts make him less concerned with what other people think of him as well. he managed to go to the dog training shop in the end, to see if there's anything he could be doing better for his dog, only to be told that they can't do anything for him—because he's already done everything right

(in establishing a way to communicate with his deaf dog, that is. there are other issues he gets chewed out for, which i really liked and found realistic)

i feel like it was just such a well-timed episode as a narrative device, because it shows that while the main dog trainer is great (the trainee dog trainer mc practically worships him) it's not that everyone in the world is helpless without him

but anyway

REGARDING THE SITUATIONSHIP WHAT THE FUCK LMAO first of all i love it

samura has just been dumped by an extremely shitty girlfriend when he meets niwa, while out walking the dog (or attempting to walk the dog) said shitty girlfriend dumped on him

he's doing a terrifically bad job, to the point where niwa (pro dog trainer) can't bear to watch. so what does he do well of course he has to reeducate samura by... putting him on a leash and walking him around the park, in public, for two hours. to show him just how wrong he's treating his dog

samura somehow gets a job out of this and they start working together. at one point he reveals he is GOING TO THE SALON and GETTING HIS HAIR PERMED so that it is curly because niwa has a poodle and seems to like curly hair (???)

jump cut to the final episode and we're finding out samura's tragic lore—parentified by a narcissistic mom, down with too much filial piety disease. when samura finally decides he's no longer sending money back home, his mom comes to the dog training shop to be like "sir uwu you have to give my son a raise so he can keep sending money home uwu he's such a good hard-working boy please pay him what he's worth"

and niwa is straight up like "actually he sucks and you suck get the fuck out of my shop" AND THEN LATER IN THE EPISODE samura's mom calls him (has been calling him repeatedly since meeting his freak of a boss) and NIWA ANSWERS THE PHONE and while she's complaining about the money situation and the freak boss (niwa) he basically tells her "you still suck and your son still sucks but i'm keeping him, fuck off"

like my god?? that woman is going to go away thinking her son has gotten into an extremely abusive relationship with his boss. i mean fuck her entirely, she does suck, but that is very much Not the situation (even though it does Very Much appear to be the situation)

anyway. ultimately this one lands in the :) category for me, originally picked it up for the cast (kuroko and mukkun and also KENN) and didn't have very high expectations but am thrilled to be pleasantly surprised

THE BLOG LIVES AGAIN!

(Hello everyone! I am back to announce this blog FINALLY has new characters!)

(Sorry for being just DEAD on this blog, but I’m trying to give this blog a pulse again. Hopefully, it’ll be back on its feet again. If blogs had feet, but that’s besides the point. What IS the point is I got a few new characters to spruce the place up a bit. Let me introduce them.)

Creativity

In the “Creativity” tab, I present the nomadic, wandering genie: Nilō Bhiksu. Wearing the robes of a monk and has the classic blue skin of a fantasy genie, I hope to those liking the more spiritual and yet playful characters enjoy her.

Also there is Suiei Kashu, a hybrid of a mermaid from European folklore and the Japanese yokai, the kappa! She sings to inflict her emotions on those that either have the pleasure or unfortunate happenstance to hear her. She is bilingual, thanks to her mixed heritage’s. And is able to summon a Kelpie, the water horse spirit of Scottish folklore. If she is up your alley, feel free to come up to her and talk for a bit….if she is in a good mood, that is.

Logic and Morality

The latest addition to this tab is a nice one. For in an unnamed land of fantasy, there is the strong and independent owner of the family ranch is the tall, blonde, and buff Sol Scaleclaw. Rancher and caretaker of…dragons. That’s right! Dragons! How cool is that?!!

Anyways he is rugged, tough, and scarred over from handling such creatures. And can use any and all help he can get. Feel free to mosey on over, and lend him a helping hand.

Oh, and he has a Texan accent. To those that care about that.

Nerd

For the Nerd tab, we have the latest character. Inspired by the hot, new animated pilot based on a long standing webcomic. I, of course, am talking about the booze cat comic itself: Lackadaisy!

I fell in love with this world so bad that I simply HAD to make a character to shut my brain up for a bit. And create I did! For I made such an elaborate and detailed backstory, that you may message me about it if you wish (please do so!)

With enough preamble, I introduce: Charlie Abbot Keaton! Owner of the joke shop the “Laughing Hyena” and the speakeasy “The Giggling Geranium”

Charlie Keaton is a cat of mirth, whimsy, and much more…complicated things. Coming into Saint Louis to strike out on his own, he does what he may to keep smiles on the faces of those wishing to come by into his shop…and those wanting an illicit beverage away from private eyes.

If you like the 1920’s, booze, or cats…come interact with Charlie. He’ll put a smile on your face. (And go watch and read Lackadaisy, both are free!)

reading the water 7 arc when usopp splits always kills me inside... it hurts so bad. i hope that if/when sanji and zoro fight, its THAT emotionally impactful. like all the hidden meanings and . angst.. i want good angst. if they do actually get into a fight To The Death, i dont think anyone but luffy could stop them. i could also imagine theyre fighting to the death and like . what stops them is someone in the crew is put into mortal peril and theyre forced to work together (bc that's always how it goes). what they should actually do is sit down and talk about their feelings... with a mediator perhaps....

Watched oshi no ko and hells paradise both mid. Kinda makes me mad bc hells paradise was giving soul eater a little bit plus the op is catchy as fuck but I’m a little annoyed like I just don’t think I have it in me to tolerate mid female characters anymore. I really wanted to like it too bc the first ep was really good but then the second was like umm ok this dude is a bit much but he’s cool still. Then the third ep I was like “so why tf is the girl even travelling with him if everyone knows he could easily overpower her at any time”. And the forth ep gabimaru had to save her and she collapsed bc she got overwhelmed ? Like it’s so embarrassing for her I can’t go on. I realize her arc is about facing her fears or something actually no I don’t really know what the author was going for but anyway my point is theres a way to do that without making her a cringe damsel in distress. Maybe I’m just jumping to conclusions bc it really does look good but like it’s not a great look so far

as for oshi no ko I was hoping it would be about like balancing motherhood and being a star or something obviously I expected too much. I actually kinda enjoyed the movie pilot but I dislike that:

1 it’s isekai

2 the mom fucking dies and the kid/guy is on some revenge fantasy bs. Like I said I thought this would be some cute show where a guy doctor falls in love with a pregnant woman who’s actually an idol hiding her identity and the issues that would arise from that. (Btw I did not know she was 16 going into this show. Another thing I dislike)

3 I feel like the isekai part is just accepted and will never come up again. Like idk bc I wouldn’t mind if it was actually incorporated into the story as like the main thing but it’s not really. like I want sarina/rubys backstory to be more important, the connnection between her wanting to be an idol and her not being able to move around in her previous life could be expanded on, idk anything abt the guys goals from before but I would like to see that instead

4 I hate the Mc he’s fucking BORINGGGGG and he’s obsessed w his sister and mom. (Side note When are we gonna get an anime where the Mc just despises his sister like there’s no other feeling other than hate.) What happened to the fun guy who used to be a doctor. Like trauma obvs but his whole personality became unbearable. you could say that he was obsessed with Ai even when he was alive but honestly, bro had a job and lived in the countryside, there is no way he didn’t have other things going on in his life

5 both these kids have no personality other than being obsessed with their mom like SHUT UP PLS

6 it’s literally just a girl in the mcs life suffers due to being an idol and he jumps in to save her by doing something maybe a little innovative and weird but ultimately good. Like I kept watching bc I wanted to see how him trying new things could expand his perspective or something like trying acting again or being on the dating show but no it’s just him saving chicks from other ppl

7 I feel like all of those points just show the plot is trying to be more than what it is. Like it’s just another isekai where an older guy takes care of underage women in return for their dedication. Ok to be fair it actually does have a lot of the inside life of idol culture which is interesting but also don’t advertise it like ai is a main character when she FUCKING DIES :(

I actually kinda dislike gabimaru too like both these mfs are gloomy, overly perfect, emo, and have saviour complexes and it’s rly not my vibe. Like idk they’re Gary stus. Ebony darkness dementia raven way but as a guy. Like please just suck at something you’re boring me

I think that’s what I get for trying to watch Shonen but ugh. I like action I like the power of friendship I even like a lil romance if it’s not like annoying and very specifically aimed toward the male gaze.

M3: The Man in the Ant Hill

For those doing the rewatch on Diseny+, the minisode "The Man in the Ant Hill" is the first part of the 7th episode of the series which has the same title.

These episodes that are compiled out of the minsodes must be really odd to sit through for someone just trying to watch the series. You'd watch the first two and then be like, "man these episodes have a weird structure like they don't know how to plot a show."

Anyway, "The Man in the Ant Hill" introduces us to Hank Pym (Ant-man) and, more importantly, Janet Van Dyne (the Wasp), who I love on this show so much. It's such a fun portrayal of Jan, lighter and more youthful.

I also think she's a really great heroine for young girls (a lot of the superhero cartoons are geared for boys). She's very "girly" in a Buffy Summers way, small, and cute but still able to beat you up. I really wanted a Halloween costume of this version of the Wasp in my size (sadly, adult). And I'm even sadder they never made it in kid size either.

I know some people didn't like the art in this series, but I thought it was unique. It took some getting used to but the actual quality of the animation is much better than Avengers Assemble and some of the more recent shows. I don't think they show as much attention to detail.

Goons working for Ulysses Klaw (which was spelled Klaue in Black Panther) attack Ant-Man, who has been brought into a SHIELD base in Africa because SHIELD has discovered a bit of vibranium.

It's interesting to look back on this, because clearly the show doesn't expect a child to be familiar with the words "Wakanda" and "vibranium." There's a lot of build up to Black Panther showing up. I do like this portrayal of T'Challa once he actually shows up. (Wait for it.)

But it's funny how the show expects Hank Pym to be better known to kids than Black Panther. Oh, the past.

Obviously, in the Avengers movie they opted to go with Hawkeye and Black Widow to round out the cast (and actually include a girl--yuck! Cooties). This show decided to keep the original five Avengers from the comic book. The MCU kept the original villain-Loki. EMHU kept the Avengers but changed the villain.

I guess the love for Tom Hiddleston and Black Panther are two things this show did not anticipate.

Hank's first monologue is to his own tape recorder about the supposed uses of vibranium. And while today's child would think

once someone mentions vibranium, this show has Klaue come in and talk about it some more.

Hank tells him to set up an appointment with Janet. I take umbrage to this line. She's not your secretary, Hank. She's your girlfriend.

And I think that is a huge difference between the EMHU and the MCU. EMHU was determined to make Hank happen and the MCU straight bailed.

By this time, newer fans of Marvel were coming to know Hank as the Avenger that beats his wife.

It's an interesting dichotomy, by avoiding the spousal abuse element (as Feige speaks about in the above linked article) and pivoting to Scott Lang's version of Ant-man (who does show up in the EMHU, but later! Spoilers!) it actually made "the Wasp"--whether the Janet or Hope van Dyne version--less important to the films. I'd argue that Hope is a pretty bland character and Janet is better. But that's my opinion. The MCU opted to create this "new" Wasp in Hope but she doesn't have any backstory to her--literally. Janet had 60 years of stories at this point. (The other Wasp, Nadia Van Dyne wasn't created when this show aired in 2010.)

Klaw has his sonic canon in this but has not yet lost his arm. Avengers: Age of Ultron also starts with him having an arm. Many of the villains already have their comic book powers or weapons when this story starts. Klaw gets more storytime because the show uses him to introduce Black Panther. (Again more on that later!)

Hank shrinks everyone down. Klaw is like "oh my gott we are tiny" (I am not sure what this accent is supposed to be).

Janet only shows up at the very end after all the fighting has happened. She flies in worried about Hank but he's doing science and tells her to make sure the guys he beat up aren't eaten by the ants.

Janet makes a funny "ew" face because she's adorable instead of telling him off for asking her to do his dirty work. This dynamic shall continue for some time. And eventually lead younger me to write a fanfiction where Janet ditches Hank for the Hulk.

And... well, Zoro’s shirt is already clearly very meaningful, so that wouldn’t be a reveal as much as it would just be a statement of fact.

Man... Reverse Santa!Carmen P. Sandiego is just so pleasant to look at. Unlike Sanji, I enjoy her face. By which I obviously mean Sanji doesn’t enjoy her face.

If Reverse Santa!Carmen P. Sandiego joined Lufpy’s crew, she would automatically be the best member. She would be better than Nami. She would be better than Lufpy. I would think better of her than I do of Usopp. She would have more Sanji Points than Sanji. Zoro would be there.

ah fuck okay I’ve reached the end of yet another chapter and STILL there hasn’t been a third Death Event

You see... the reason I’ve barely been commenting on the last few chapters is not because I haven’t been enjoying them. No no. These last few chapters have been freaking great. No... the reason why I’ve barely been commenting on the last few chapters is because... I got to say “They’re dead...! They’re all dead...!!!” and then shortly afterwards I got to say “He’s dead...! He’s all dead...!!!”

I didn’t want to commentate too much prior to a third Death Event, because I figured I could reuse the syntax and then I would have used the syntax three times in quick succession, but I guess my attempt at pulling that off was a complete failure.

Anyway... I’m afraid Reverse Santa!Carmen P. Sandiego may not be destined for Lufpy’s journey. It seems she may be the Chef to Tony Tony Chopper’s Sanji, with her male counterpart being the palindrome girl to his Zoro. I... don’t want to say goodbye to her... but... I sense it... on the breeze...

It’s interesting, assuming that Tony Tony Chopper is indeed The New Crewmate From This Arc... that the easiest two crewmates to compare him to are Sanji and Zoro, my bottom two crewmates. The thing is, there’s nothing really wrong with Zoro. The only thing that really damns him is... a certain blandness-of-concept within a fun cast. Sanji on the other hand, has reached some high highs in terms of how enjoyable his character is, but his lows are even lower than Zoro’s lows, which causes him to lose Sanji Points and drags down his Sanji Score significantly.

Lufpy, Zoro, Nami and Usopp aren’t Freaks from Lands of Freaks. They’re just characters.

Then I don’t know if I can be objective right now about where I would rank Tony Tony Chopper on my list of crewmates. Because saying goodbye to Reverse Santa!Carmen P. Sandiego would be such a huge loss that the only thing I would be able to taste would be bitterness.

But once that loss has passed and I’ve gone through the five stages of grief...

Being a Freak from a Land of Freaks without Sanji’s flaws does result in Tony Tony Chopper having a lot of Tony Tony Chopper Points.

Chapter 145 - Carrying on His Will

Oh... “Soon, a monster will appear. He’s my son. Don’t hurt him.” That’s the other One Piece line everyone always talks about, besides “Of course I will!!!”

That means I’ve now encountered both of the only two lines from One Piece that are any good at all. It’s all downhill from here. Ah well! There are other mangas.

...Someone just died. I wish I had a quirky way of talking about that, perhaps with a certain combination of words and punctuation, but alas, I do not.

This is the story of how the guy who didn’t want to be president didn’t want cyborg Tarrare to be king. That story’s over now though.

Cyborg Tarrare gets hit by Lufpy’s fist. Well, that’s a little out of left field. This moment really could have used some clearer foreshadowing if it’s actually something the author was planning in advance. Well, whatever.

Oh man, that’s storytelling with just enough nuance that it’s completely hilarious... Sanji probably means this as a bad thing, but to Tony Tony Chopper, it would most likely sound warm and inviting... like a place to finally belong at long last.

Lufpy cruelly robs Nami of a chance to be relevant, but what else is new. Getting cruelly robbed of her chance to be relevant is Nami’s whole deal. Besides, she needs rest.

Lufpy truly does have a foot fetish... I knew it...

Oh, the White Mages had human faces... they had humanity... all they needed to do was to become anti-maskers. That’s heartwarming.

Katherine's backstory Part 2: The taming.

The three hunters decided to take the girl with them, cleaning away the virus was possible, however, even without the virus she was still dangerous, to everyone and to herself. They could test that from the moment she woke up after being repaired, she woke up and instantly started to fight, being overwhelmed by her trauma of the tortures she suffered and waking up in an unfamiliar place surrounded by strangers. She was quickly apprehended and put in a special cell to contain her while the MHHQ decided what to do with her.

She was put in a small and dark cell, Katherine began to pace along the walls like a lion in a circus cage, pawing at the walls and bars in hopes to find a door, without success, she was trapped.

The reploids of the MHHQ were watching the security cameras of the cell, convinced she was too dangerous, they had already witnessed her rampage the moment she woke up, she made quite the damage to the equipment and some reploids. At least here, they could monitor Katherine with a sense of security, especially since they had armed reploids ready in case the cell proved too weak to hold her.

-Such potential- frowned X with a sigh -Such a waste...-

-You believe she is hopeless then? - asked Zero by his side, staring at the orange-armored reploid as she continued to paw at the walls.

-I need to get out, I need to go back to the doctor, he is going to punish me when he sees I didn’t follow him… but didn’t he abandon me? And what does those reploids want with me? I just wanna get OUT! -

POW! Katherine summoned a bright beam-like claw and slammed her fist in the wall, causing a loud bang that startled everyone else in the hallway and the security room... all that is, except for the eldest bots among them.

Axl spoke next -Well after that little show you have to admit it’s a little scary- he gulped -she is acting like a wild animal…-

Zero hummed for a moment, staring at the screens, watching her in silence for a minute… until he spoke again -she is not a wild animal, Axl… she is scared, that’s all-

-Scared? SHE is frightened? - replied an angered reploid nearby -I saw what she did to the repairing area! I saw her attack with those claws! We all saw it!-

  -Guys, please...- said the crimson hunter -Normally I would be the first one to say that is better if we just ended her and moved forward, but I know here we can give second chances- he said, looking briefly at X, who just nodded softly -she's pacing herself, she's calmer now. She's probably confused and wondering what we're going to do to her…- 

-And who knows, maybe she just needs guidance- said X -she is free from the virus now, maybe with some work she can get reformed- he suggested, the other reploids didn’t seem so convinced but agreed anyways.

-I’ll go there- said Zero, catching everyone’s attention -I believe I can at least make her listen… after all, she did listen back in the place we captured her, so let me take over this… taming process-

A soft click interrupted Katherine’s thoughts, making her snap her head towards the metal bars, they were sliding aside, she could go! She was free! She didn’t waste any time and started to run out… only to run into the crimson hunter from before, making her stop in her tracks and freeze for a moment, remembering how he cut her chest open with a swing of his sword.

Zero observed her carefully, while she slowly walked backwards into her cell, wanting to maintain distance, and he then took a step forward, and another, and another. She went backwards once more, and until she was cornered.  Her breath quickened, her internal alarms blaring, her fight or flight reflexes kicking in, making her snarl at him and summon her beam claws, attempting to make him back off.

It didn’t work though.

-You know… is not a very good first impression to greet someone like that- commented Zero casually, keeping an eye on her, she was growling but didn’t dare to attack -Come on now… I won’t hurt you; you can put those down… see? - she lifted both hands slowly to not scare her, showing he was empty handed -No weapons-

It took a while, Katherine having a hard mental struggle, but Zero was patient, she was debating on what to do, sure he was disarmed, but who assured her he wouldn’t hurt her anyways? And if she tried to escape, could she beat him? And in that case, she was still in an unfamiliar place filled with strange reploids… after what seemed like an eternity… she lowered her hands, turning off the beam claws, much to the amazement of the reploids in the security room. 

-There's a good girl- smiled the elder hunter, lowering his hands too -By the way, I don’t think we have made introductions yet… I’m Zero- 

The girl, still hesitating, took a minute to respond -I… I-I’m Katherine- 

Zero spent at least an hour in there, slowly and gently talking to her, explaining to her where she was and making her reply back, X had taught him that during all those years fighting side by side, sometimes some reploids just needed reassurance, someone to talk to.

-In your current situation is dangerous for you to go out, you have no control over your reactions or emotions- explains Zero, watching the girl lower her ears -But, that doesn’t mean you won’t be free, eventually you will be able to go wherever you want, but first you must learn to control yourself and your power, after all, we can’t go around tearing someone apart just because they startled you, right?-

Katherine looked aside, she knew he was right -R-right… but then it means… I’m a prisoner again?-

-Let’s not call it that- the elder bot replied -Let’s say you’re under discipline process, we have to undo everything that maverick taught you, both consciously and unconsciously, learn to control your power and use it when necessary, and most importantly, to forget your fear- said the elder bot, making Katherine look at him with interest -With the kind of power I witnessed back there… you had enough power to kill that maverick by yourself-

Katherine gasped, her ears perking up and looking at him with wide eyes -W-what…? No… that’s impossible-

-That’s what you think… what he made you think, you were just too scared to even consider it… how do you know you couldn’t when you never even tried it?- asked Zero.

Katherine tried to come up with a response, without success…

Zero smiled -You see?... here we can teach you what you need, but we take your decisions into consideration, we won’t force you to do anything if you don’t want to ok? Forget what happened back there… we won’t punish you like he did, I promise-

Katherine listened everything with attention, letting his words sink in… she could finally be free, but right there and then she was a danger, and they were offering her rehabilitation, and if she passed it, she could go anywhere and make her life…

-… When do we start?- she asked to the elder bot.

Zero smiled, reaching slowly towards her, she lowered her ears and closed her eyes, for a second thinking he was going to hurt her, but she only heard something metallic hit the floor, she opened her eyes and glanced down, the metal cuff she used to have on the neck along with the chain were laying there, she put her hand on her neck, like it was the first time in a long while she could take that off.

-We can start right away- said Zero.

It took months of constant work and patience, X joined Zero in the rehabilitation sessions with Katherine, working hard to undo the damages the doctor made on her.

They discovered, digging through her data, that she was originally part of a custom set of reploids, made for rescue and retrievals during accidents with avalanches or earthquakes, but the doctor modified her structure and data to adapt her for battle and stealth, they considered re programming her but it proved dangerous, the modifications were made so deep that it was difficult to remove them without damaging her data, so it was decided for her to stay like that.

At the start, it was hard for her to even get out of her cell willingly, but with the help of the HQ and specially X, who was always so gentle and caring, she started to slowly grow calmer and more confident every day. She wasn’t even used to words of encouragement or simple physical affection, like a pat on the back, the first times she always recoiled from Zero or X expecting to be hurt, just to be so confused a second later.

She started to get used to schedules and routines, for her to rest, to get her sessions, to do whatever, and even community jobs in the HQ (She had to pay back for what she broke when she arrived), routines were a luxury she didn’t had access to when she was with the doctor, she was used to be taken out her cell at any hour, any minute without warning. She was able to meet other reploids and to socialize more, she even meet Axl and got along with him with ease, both being of the same “age”.

The hardest part of her rehab however, was her sudden outbursts when scared or startled, but Zero managed to keep her in line and stop those outbursts successfully, until she was able to react normally at given situations. 

And when she wasn’t working or resting and had some free time, she started to explore the MHHQ, of course, the places she could go were very limited and she was always with a escort to keep her in check, in those walks she started to understand more what they did in the MHHQ, their work, their training, all to serve and protect humans and reploids, she couldn’t help to admire what they did there, all their effort, discipline, and training to help others, it made her think a lot, would someone like her be able to be like them? Or it was an impossible dream? 

Until one day, after months, all that hard work paid off, X announced she was completely rehabilitated and ready to exit the MHHQ as a normal reploid, free to do what she wanted.

-We couldn’t be prouder to announce that your rehab was a success- said X, smiling at Katherine -From now on you’re free to go wherever you want-

-Just don’t go around and cause trouble okay?- said Axl, smirking -We don’t want to have to take you back here for misbehaving-

-Relax, I’ll be good- said Katherine, knowing Axl was just teasing, and then sighs -Well… I guess this is goodbye huh?-

-I guess so…- Axl felt a bit bad, he had gotten along with her so well, and now she had to go -But hey, you can visit when you want of course-

-Right… again, thank you so much for helping me- she said -I’ll try to pay you back somehow-

-It’s okay, we’re just glad we were able to help- said X.

After exchanging some more words and saying their goodbyes, Katherine walked out, exiting the MHHQ building… she was free to go where she wanted, to do what she wanted… she should be happy but… her face while standing in the entrance of the MHHQ was one of sadness. 

She couldn’t go back to the doctor, that’s was for sure, but all her life she was with him until he left her behind, she didn’t knew anything or anyone else, she had nowhere to go… of course, she could go and find a job in her area, what she was built for in the first place, which was rescuing, but the battle modifications made it difficult, she could make things worse if she attempted to make a rescue…

-Thought you were already discharged?- said a voice behind her.

Katherine turned quickly to see who it was, it was Zero. Just that was proof the rehab was a success, at the start, she would have attacked Zero, but not anymore.

-Commander Zero! - she smiled, glad to see him -I thought you were on a mission? -

-Yeah, I was, just came back- he smiled -So, you’re going now? -

-Well… yeah, Commander X told me I’m free to go…- she looked out, to the immense city out of the MHHQ.

-Hmm… something tells me you’re not too happy about that- commented Zero.

-O-of course I’m happy! I mean, I’m free… is just…- the ears on her helmet lowered -I… I don’t really have anywhere to go… and I don’t think I can safely perform my original programming with what the doctor did to me…- she explained, looking sad -A-and here you guys have been so nice to me, and you have helped me so much…-

They stayed in silence for a minute, looking out at the city. 

-… Well… there’s still an option you know? – said Zero -You can become a hunter-

Katherine turned to look at him so quick, she was sure something snapped on her neck joints -W-what??-

-Yeah, I mean, your skills qualify for combat, and we always need reploids to fight mavericks- said Zero casually, turning to the HQ -But of course, no one will force you, is something you have to decide- and walked inside the HQ.

Katherine watched him go, mouth open and eyes wide… she? A hunter? Was something like that possible…? But Zero himself said it, she had the qualifications to enter… Her gaze turned to the streets, where a poster on a wall caught her attention, “The Maverick Hunters need YOU! Join Today!” 

Well… Is not like she had any other options… and she had already made a few friends in the MHHQ… she could put her skills and power into something useful, and maybe one day be liked and respected like Zero, X or Axl… She smiled.

And Zero smiled too when he saw Katherine re entering the HQ.

"She confessed to him." You grinned, throwing a bunch of fries into your mouth like the absolute animal you were.

Mei on the other hand continued her work on whatever in the world her new prototype, or "baby", was. Still, you had the honor of having half of her attention, which was a compliment to say at least.

She just smiled, shaking her head, leading you to continue, not knowing a blond was quite literally behind the corner, just outside the door leading to the support department, frown on his face.

"She came to class giggling like an idiot saying she's got a plan." You made a face into the distance, remembering your classmate's obnoxious squeal. "Ugh, she started telling the Divas how she's gonna have The Bakugou Katsuki in the bag." An ugly snort left your body, which earned an amused chuckle from Mei.

Both of you were pretty well known to be very good friends, and as much as you hated to admit it, you were both quite the social pariahs too. She was a little bit strange or weird, as some called her, but not for a single second she cared, which was the reason you admired the girl so much in the first place. Meanwhile you've taken the role of the bitch of the whole school by far. Sadly, you were placed in the same class as your archenemy, only increasing your chances of being called said endearing term.

Middle-school was a nightmare to say at least, getting bullied for your looks, the way you spoke or dressed, anything really as long as you were the one being mocked. And who was the one doing the bullying? Midori. Stunning, graceful, baby-faced Midori. Petite yet elegant, a devil in disguise. Whoever crossed her path suffered her malice unless she had something to gain from them.

And now, sweet Midori was in the U.A.'s General Studies, coinciding with you in the majority but not all classes. It had to do with the tragedy that your quirk was so rare that the principal Nezu had to adjust a new schedule just for you. Just kidding, it was amazing. The actual tragedy was seeing her face every day.

Back to your heartbreaking backstory and origin; time made you tough, comments made you build a wall so tall and thick nobody could crumble it. Backstab after backstab made you learn that not everyone has good intentions, but in your loneliness you found Hatsume Mei. So honest and dedicated, so raw and passionate. A good person. The type of person your parents promised you'd someway cross paths with and gain such a strong friendship that nothing could tear it apart.

Becoming friends with her was easy, kinda. It took snapping back at Midori when she started her normal bullying routine on Mei, which ignored it without a care. You stepped in and the rest is history. It did feel good though, calling her a pathetic bitch before turning to the stranger with a cool gadget in her hands to compliment it. And, since she's a sucker for her babies, you had to deal with an hour of sparkly eyes and monologues about her plans and prototypes.

Funny girl, Mei. You remember thinking but the following day you passed by her usual spot to fill your curiosity, asking if she did solve the problem she was complaining about.

"He was the one she was planning to ask out?" She screamed at you, head inside a giant metal gauntlet and the reason you two started talking about said man in particular. News were extra-fresh anyway.

"Oh, yeah!" You shook your head, ashamed to exist in the same general proximity as a person like your former bully. "He's gonna be so rich and famous!" A high pitched squeal left your mouth as you tried to copy her voice. "Poor fucking guy, if only he knew."

"But people know she's a bitch!" She screamed again, repairing or adjusting something with almost all of her body inside the gauntlet. A smile, genuine and soft this time, formed on your face. The pink-haired girl wasn't one to talk bad about others or even care, but it was clear she wasn't particularly fond with Midori either, although the conversation was more for you to vent rather than gossip. Sure it was.

"Like the people from the Hero Department even care about us, the commoners." With a roll of the eyes, you followed. "If he's smart, he'll run away. If he's an asshole, he could use her too."

"What do you mean?" Pink flocks of hair suddently submerged from the gadget, eyes curious zooming on you. That probably got more than 50% of her attention and it was a new personal goal while she was at the workshop.

With shrugged shoulders, your answer came nonchalant. "He could date her and dump her like she's nothing. Would serve her right for all the shit she's talking about him." But the only response you got was a short quizzical look, followed by your exagerated sigh. "She's talking shit about him constantly, but then says he's hot and that his personality doesn't matter anyway. Money, fame, looks. She has a whole fucking life-plan! Then calls him a rabid dog!"

"Woah—" that surprised her.

"Woah indeed! Insane. It's insane. I don't know the guy but no one deserves that shit." When you got no response, you continued your speech, munching in the food with passionate hunger, words coming out almost indistinguishable. "Doubt he'd play her though. He looks like a smart guy. I've seen the Sports Festival—" you picked up your burger, giving it heart eyes. "—and I've seen the news. He's probably a good guy too, the issue is people don't see that and... Well, I understand what's it to be judged... Not many have what it takes to be a real hero but he does. Hope he finds happiness in life." Much talk for someone that doesn't know shit about the guy in particular, but even so faint, your gut instinct was trained well enough to spot malice and he lacked that. "And a therapist." And there's the little shit in you that had to drop a cheeky comment.

Mei's gaze turned downwards and even if you could see her brain do mental gymnastics to solve whatever problem she had in front of her super-eyes, she also contemplated your words with great care.

"He comes here from time to time—" she grins, smacking the grenade looking gauntlet with her weird utensil. "I noticed you two are similar." Your face twisted, eyes wide towards the girl.

Similar how? He was loud, bold with a foul mouth, definitely needed a therapist for those unresolved anger issues... But he was also bright as in whenever he went, people looked in his direction, like he shined; obviously strong, also from what you've heard smart, popular, lucky to be surrounded by kind people. Example being that very nice pink girl that had a joyous conversation with you the very first day of school and, much to your surprise, continued greeting and having sweet small talks with you every single time you saw each other. Or the blond haired guy that showed off a little bit too much and made dumb flirty comments with no bad intentions, the same blond that waved at you with enthusiasm when you'd cross paths. There was the red-head, Kirishima, that was an absolute gentleman, opening doors for you even if you had two functioning hands and smiled so bright it made your corneas burn, or also the dark haired guy, Sero, that you've seen helping literally anyone in need around the school campus with an easy going attitude and gentle grins. Bakugou Katsuki was surrounded by good people, good heroes just as amazing as him and if they liked him, he must've definitely had some good in him, right? Another point appeared in your mental presentation about the brash hero in the making was that he was way too attractive but the wise burried deep inside of you made that particular point dissappear. No need to think about that. Overall you weren't even remotely similar. Not even close. Two completely different human beings from two completely different worlds that would never collide. With that being said, there was the small chance that Mei hinted for you to get a therapist too, who knows.

"How even—"

"I mean!" She screwed something in place. "I mean in your— determination?"

"I wouldn't know that." You muttered.

"He screams I'm gonna be the best every time he's here—"

"Cute..." You vomit that endearment without thinking, but thankfully it got ignored.

"—and it always reminds me of you." A small chuckle left your mouth.

"Don't make fun of me."

"You say it too~"

"I just heal, Mei, it's not the same." Principal Nezu's speech, the speech he gave your parents months into the first year as they found themselves aware of your power made you hold your words. You had it in you. The potential. If incredible people like your teachers, like Shuzenji Chiyo or Principal Nezu twisted things around for your quirk, for how rare and powerful it is, you'd accept it.

"But you're gonna be the best healer ever, aren't you?" She taunted.

"Of course. Which reminds me—!"

"Hmm?" Her attention faded away slightly, but it wasn't a problem.

She cheered, both at you and at her finished masterpiece and proceeded to eat too, passing through the lunch hour without interruption.

"Recovery Girl is putting me on active duty at the infirmary from now on. Finally!"

Innocent pale purple eyes stared into deep crimson ones, furrowed brows covering them.

Bakugou Katsuki wasn't one to enjoy being annoyed or surprised and this extra managed to make him feel both things in a short notice.

Everyone around him froze in fear or wonder, awaiting his response without breathing or moving an inch. Meanwhile Whoever-she-was held a pink envelope in front of him, a perfume too sweet coming from it making him want to literally gag in the spot.

Another thing the boy did not appreciate was to have someone bullshit him. His senses were telling him to back off, alarms ringing in his head and those purple eyes held hidden intentions; he wasn't having any of it.

"Fuck off." He snapped, yet his stance was casual as he refused to move out of her way since she was the one that had the audacity to run into him.

Some gasps, even coming from his so-called idiotic friends, could be heard and an indignant Bakubro behind him as he got slapped in the shoulder but he did not care. Not until her lips started to tremble as she retreated her confession letter towards her chest dramatically. His eyebrow started to twitch at the sight.

It was a spectacle for anyone surrounding him.

"What's going on?" Shushes and whispers.

"Bakugou Katsuki just got a confession!" Gossip.

"What!? Who?!" Confusion.

"You said Bakugou Katsuki?!" Shock.

"Oh, she's pretty!" Awe.

"He told her to Fuck off! What an asshole!" Outrage.

"Is that Midori?" Surprise.

"The nerve—" Anger.

"Midori from—" Disbelief.

"Oh, my God, she's really doing it~!" Giggles.

He frowned deeper. If people were to talk about him, they should be talking about all the crap he's been doing and all the lives he saved, not because of a fake bimbo decided to cross his path.

Bakugou wasn't stupid either. With time he knew these things would eventually come in his direction, stuff he'd have to deal with in the future as fame would take over, but not now. He did not have time to entertain this show anyway.

There was only one destination in his mind and she was keeping him in the middle of the whole school cafeteria with prying eyes on them both.

"Bakugou, do something, she's about to cry!" Dunce Face harshly whispered, but turned towards the white haired girl that looked devastated in front of them. "Ignore him! Ask me out, I would never make you cry!"

He rolled his eyes so back in his head it almost hurt. With a need to hurl the food he just ate, he made a step to leave the scene but small hands with claw-like fingernails gripped his arm and he looked at her in utter disgust.

"No, I would never! He—" she sniffled but had no tears in her eyes. He gave her a scowl, trying to take his arm out of her grip but she scratched him in place with her tiny rat hands. "You're the one I love! I—" her bangs covered her face as she continued her show.

"Bakugou! Dude! Do something!" Shitty Hair said, his dumb and blind trust in people buying the act. A vein almost popped on Bakugou's forehead.

"I fucking said—" he pulled his arm so hard she fell on her knees by his side. "Fuck. Off."

Another set of gasps filled the room.

"Bakugou!"

One thing he did not want, even if he could tell it was a foul theater, was to hurt somebody. His asshole act ended at that but his pride stopped him from saying anything.

Glancing to see if she's hurt, Pink Idiot was by her side, helping her up and asking way too many fucking questions.

"No, I'm fine..." she said with such a meek voice he scoffed, also hearing all the shit everyone around him was talking.

"He's such a brute."

"What a mean guy—"

"She's crying!"

"Fucking asshole."

He gritted his teeth.

After the disaster with the League of Villains in the first year, people started to respect him for who he was yet one single, minuscule shit like this and they were all at his jugular.

"I took Bakugou-san by surprise." She excused his behavior to Ashido, which then suggested they should eat lunch together sometimes to make up for the trouble after apologizing in his behalf.

"Yeah, we'd love to have you around! Isn't that right, Bakugou?" The apologetic and almost pleading voice of his blond friend, if he ever was going to call him that anymore, just made him bare his teeth. If they wanted to get played like fools it was their problem, not his.

And that's how he found himself eavesdropping on the weirdo and an extra.

And with a single "Whatever." he left the cafeteria, going to check if his gauntlets were ready, annoyance oozing off him, making the sea of people part from his path. Except he didn't notice you rushing away a little bit in front of him, holding a bag of food, all amused.

Why the fuck was everyone talking about him? Can't they fucking keep his pretty name outta their mouths? With time and without finding a reason why the hell he was glued in place, he listened attentively, his suspicions confirmed and his ego hurt, but whoever was talking about him calmed his nerves a lot. He just needed to put a face to that voice. Just to see who's gossiping about him, nothing else.

With a full belly and a whole afternoon to study by Recovery Girl's side, you marched towards the infirmary after you bid your farewell to Mei. There was still time to walk around, grab something sweet for later and save any poor soul that Midori decided to sink her teeth in. It was common at this point, you getting in between her and her victims and taking the hit, yet somehow also being called a bitch by everyone. That's how high-school worked. She did have friends and they spread any word she spat. Vultures.

It was fine though. Hero [Y/N] is there to save the day no matter what. You scoffed at your own stupidity, turning the corner just to step on a leg that was sprawled on the floor.

He clicked his tongue, getting up with no worry in the world, but made no action to leave, settling for observing and analyzing you way too intensely.

"Watch where the fuck you're going, idiot." The man of the hour, the guy you've defended in front of your friend just screamed at you as he dusted off the imprint of your shoe left on his pants. Meanwhile you just paled in place before regaining your composture.

"Why are you sitting on the floor?" You said, tilting your head with a frown, already knowing you will not apologize.

Unimpressed by what was going on, even if you truly couldn't point out what really was going on, you made an attempt to move past him towards the vending machines not far behind, but he caught your arm in a firm grip.

You blinked stupidly at the skin contact.

"Heard you were talkin' shit."

Your stomach dropped. Legs almost gave up too if it weren't for his iron grip holding you still. In the silence and at the satisfaction of the reaction you let out, he smirked and raised his chin, only Mei's singing voice coming from her workshop could be heard. Realization hit you. Hit you? Bitchslapped you in the face and left a mark for sure, because your cheeks started feeling heated, tingly.

He dragged you away, maybe to have the privacy to murder you in peace, but your common sense kicked in and you came back from the land of the mortified.

Much like he did before, action you saw with your two own eyes and repeated, you pulled out of his strong grip and stared as he turned towards you, mouth already opened to probably eat you alive.

"I wasn't talking shit about you, dude." You quickly spoke first.

"You don't fucking know me." He growled back, taking a step towards you but like hell you'd back down.

"Don't need to be besties to say what I said." Without understanding why he was so agitated, the only thing left to do after this beautiful turn of events was to defend the honor remaining in you, so you raised your chin to be at par with him. The action clearly took him by surprise, making him glare more, if even possible.

"I don't fucking appreciate when extras talk about me behind my back!"

"I don't give a shit what you appreciate, dude." Your laugh was the complete opposite of his menacing loud voice, like ying and yang.

"Bakugou, the name's fucking Bakugou, you extra!" Bakugou recovered quickly at your snappy self, getting more bothered as you talked.

"Okay, dude." His hands fisted, shaking in place as he stared you down but did not continue.

Silence; the hallway was now filled with silence as he boiled in his own anger and as you raised your brows in confusion. Now what? Was it time to leave? You've never met anyone like him, this was peculiar—

"NOW IT'S WHEN YOU FUCKING TELL ME YOUR SHITTY NAME, YOU FUCKING DUMBASS!"

A second passes; two; at the third you're wheezing your lungs out, laughing at the ridiculousness of the scenario.

"What the fuck are you LAUGHING AT?!" His voice got louder just to top your howling. You did not expect that.

Through a sigh, regaining your breath, you say "It's [L/N] [Y/N].", seeing him retreat in his form and cross his arms. He was still seizing you up.

"If you have shit to say to me, say it to my fucking face, understood?"

"I—... Say what now?"

"I—." He copied in a mock, getting an incredulous look from you. "You stupid or what?" Your upper lip lifted, ready to cuss him to infinity and beyond but he continued. "Like about that bitch from before and shit—" even if he still was loud, he placed his hands in his pockets and looked more interested in the way the tiles on the wall were placed instead of your person. "An' like you told the weirdo—"

No time to be shocked at the implied; his last word enraged you, making your body shake with rage. "Don't fucking dare to call her a weirdo ever again."

Like a challenge, he snapped his face back at you, ready to take it.

"Or what?"

"Listen here, fucker—" now that was a nice surprised face he was pulling. "Just because I gave you a pat on the back in there doesn't mean you can disrespect people just because you think you're the shit. You're not. Now get out of my fucking way." With a final push to his shoulder, your mind was focused on going to the infirmary, steam almost coming out of your nostrils.

"Hey, extra!"

Ignore him, ignore him, ignore him. went through your mind, marching away without a glance back. Not until—

"[L/N]! You're a healer, hah?" That's interesting. He stood where you left him, watching.

"What's it to you?"

Someone sane would've left at your tone but this guy walked towards you then showed you his arms, recently scratched. Images came back to you about the cafeteria incident but did not underst—... did he want to get healed?

You scoffed.

"They're scratches, dude."

"They annoy me. Now heal." All the energy you had left in your body was channeled towards the slow blink you threw at him, at which he scoffed. But they did look nasty— and Midori did them. It was a curse by itself to look down at your own arms and remember that face, so the guardian angel in you decided to take control and be the better person.

Gentle fingers barely tapped his muscular arm. Smile crept up on your lips, feeling absolutely delighted at his obvious stiffness at the skin contact and the clear interest in his eyes, specially when the scratches started disappearing into nothing, leaving smooth silk skin under.

"Hey— Wha— Where the fuck do you think you're going?!" raspy voice got lost in the distance and one thought in your head.

"Want a lollipop for being a good patient too?" You mock and his face explodes in all shapes of red. It would've been great to mock him more, enthralled by his reactions, but with that you turned and left, ignoring the tingling under your fingers that should not be there and your stomping heart.

Did he wait all the lunchbreak to talk to you?

A long queue was ahead of you, earning the longest sigh out of your lungs. Life was pain sometimes. Mei couldn't hang out, food was too far away, the delicious croissants Lunch Rush made ran out as far as you could see. Pain. Just pure pain.

And disappointment. When you walked away with your food in a bag, maybe to sit under a tree and enjoy some peace and quiet, you saw her. Midori sitting at a table you did not expect. At the same table where Ashido Mina, Denki Kaminari, Kirishima Eijirou and Hanta Sero sat at. Good people. Honest, good people about to get bitten by a snake. If she was there, then Bakugou decided—

"You. Sit."

Thinking about the boy somehow summoned him behind you. Food in hand and bored expression on his face, he passed you not without giving you a stink eye. Indeed, disappointment.

You shrugged, trying not to pay much attention to the pang in your heart as you moved forward, but a voice— his voice stopped you in your tracks.

"You. Get the fuck out of my face." His growl made everyone around him turn to watch, you being one of them. There was no excuse to what came next, no way to run away past it and dissappear. He nodded his head at you out of all people and pointed at the seat still occupied by Midori; her purple eyes big, shocked, running between your frame and the blond's.

Do you know what it felt to be put in the spotlight without warning? Well, congratulations because that was your life now.

"Ba—Bakugou-san?" Her voice, now highed up and meek followed, then a small scream as Bakugou slammed his food on the table. His friends sat there, wide-eyed, but made no attempt to interrupt.

"Did I fucking stutter, bitch? Or want me to turn into a rabid dog for fucking real?"

You choked on your own spit, bag of goodies about to drop on the floor once you saw her horrified face. She knew that he knew. And when her pale eyes, filled with sudden malice, act dropped, turned to you it's when you realized she figured out where he found out from.

Not like you cared, really, but the little shit that always had to poke out every time she was in the same room as you decided to finally show up, making you wave and send her a wink.

"I said MOVE!" now— that growl, raspy and filled with anger startled her. The orange juice in her hands spilled all over her uniform and woke her up from whatever delusion she was in. With zero time to reconsider, every belonging of hers was picked up with trembling hands and she ran away to her group of cockroaches.

A smile was already settled on your face; your brain was storing that whole interaction deep within, ready to bring it back up whenever you needed a good laugh.

Life was pain and disappointment, you say? No. Life was great. Or more importantly, Bakugou was. Not like he needed to know. But he was a decent guy as he proved—

"THE FUCK YOU STANDING THERE LIKE A DUMBASS?! I SAID SIT!" —to be a pain in the fucking ass and the bane of your existence.

You gave him a face then turned to walk away, even rushing more when you heard his chair screeching on the floor. The exit was so close, so near, freedom never felt this great, the sunlight kissing your skin giving you a new hope to live. But not for long because he grabbed your hand and started dragging you towards his table.

Your hand was in his hand and he was dragging you—

Your hand— his big, warm, a little bit sweaty hand—

How could you ruin such a beautiful moment? Eyes on you two, shocked, silence, his adorable red ears being the only thing you could see as he was completely in front of you, still dragging you towards his friends...

"Did you wait all lunchbreak yesterday to talk to me?" You collided into him as you finished the sentence, his way taller form stiffened so much you felt you single-handedly broke Bakugou Katsuki for good.

But when he turned... Oh, when he turned. Biggest deer-caught-in-the-headlights eyes you've ever seen on anyone, cheeks painted so red you almost melted in the spot, lips trembling as his head worked a thousand miles per second just to find a retort. And you prepared yourself for—

"NO, I FUCKING DIDN'T! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, YOU FUCKING EXTRA? I'D NEVER WAIT FOR SOMEONE LIKE YO— ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO ME!" Mina's waving hand caught your attention and smiled at her. Your hand was still in his, gripped harshly as he still hasn't noticed it's still there.

"Hey! [L/N], long time no see!" She cheered, ignoring the living shit out of her screaming friend, like she's used to it.

"FUCKING LOOK AT ME WHEN I TALK TO YOU—"

"Hey, chill, dude. Now let go of my hand, I wanna talk to Ashido." You smiled sweetly, making extra effort to wave your linked hands arond until he finally noticed. He zapped his hand away so fast, like he's been bitten by a wild animal. Maybe even a rabid dog, if you will.

You couldn't ignore your own flustered state as you walked past him, giving him a one up, adding the absolute scandalized face he had into the back of your mind for safekeeping.

"Come sit with us!" The pinkette offered.

"Oh, hey, I know you! You're by Hatsume's workshop all the time!" Kirishima intervened with a surprised face that broke into a grin. "Nice to officially meet—"

"I fucking said." he appeared, sitting in front of you. "My name's Bakugou."

"Ok, dude, but I'm talking to someon—"

"BAKUGOU KATSUKI!" Could be heard from the stratosphere.

Note: I just realized Midori means Green [ fucking duh ] but I'm not gonna change the name or her description. I think her parents fucking up her name was the start of many accidents leading into the Midori we all know and hate. Also, I know you understand. We all know a Midori in our lives. Much love.
