I think that if Zukka were to actually work, they’d have to get together a year or so after the end of the war. While I love the idea of them finding eachother pretty soon after, or perhaps even before the end of the war, both of them would have way too much baggage to make a healthy relationship work. I think they’d both need a little while to heal before they could navigate the complications that each other brings.

Both of them don’t exactly excel in expressing their needs or emotions, and with the added weight of years of unresolved trauma in the mix… things would not end up well.

my atla au fanfic pet peeve is people making katara angry or reluctant at zuko joining the group. katara was the FIRST one to trust and forgive zuko. he spent >5min telling her he had a tragic backstory and she was ready to use up her one and only vial of superultramagical healing on a cosmetic problem because it would make him happy.

katara is thee Most forgiving, trusting, and generous of the lot. thats Why she could be betrayed at all. Because she trusted so easily! the fact she holds a grudge at a betrayal that got her best friend killed severely injured does not mean she is anything less than the most trusting and willing to take a chance on others of the group!

if in an alternate universe zuko wound up joining the group earlier or the betrayal never happened she would be the first to accept him, she would welcome him with open arms and fight on his behalf with the groups true skeptic ie sokka

Chat is it toxic to have thoughts of an arranged marriage au where Katara and Zuko are stuck in a strictly political arranged marriage and have agreed to do their own thing (ie: Zuko will stay in the Fire Nation and be Firelord while Katara stays in the water tribe as the active Chief), but Zuko has been having a secret affair with Sokka since before the arranged marriage? Sokka is an ambassador for the SWT in Caldera so they ended up getting really close (even though Sokka isn’t there 24/7 bc he travels a lot). And now things have gotten really messy and the palace staff has gotten too close to figuring things out and no one knows what to do…this is soap opera level drama but I’m kind of living for it

Once Sokka is onto the possibility of Zuko being attracted to him, he remembers when he went and touched Zuko's split lip and gets profoundly embarrassed. Then idk moonlight magic makes him look at Zuko being all pretty and shit and he doesn't even realize what he's doing as he reaches to touch his lip once again

This is my manifastation for the events of @lovelyelbowleech's War Games and also a hymn of both sorrow and joy to commemorate the DAMN HOLE IN THEIR TENT, that's been giving me sleepless nights for the last 17 chapters. Only fair to assume it can give Sokka one too, right? All's Fair in the end *finger guns*
