❥ INSOMNIA — levi x hange, death mention, s3 spoilers, hurt/comfort, established (ambiguous) relationship, first work posted on tumblr. enjoy!

insomnia is the norm for levi ackerman. always has been for as long as he can remember. back when he first joined the military, he fit right in with all the ptsd-nightmare and survivor-guilt-ridden soldiers in the survey corps; not one person slept well in those barracks, but they all, like levi, learned to live with it.

sometimes, though, it got bad — like the day he lost erwin. he went days, then a week, then more, with nothing but three hours of sleep and the caffeine from his tea to keep him standing on his two feet; still would be, if it wasn’t for these weird herbal remedies that hange made, full of plants and flowers and god knows what else they put in there. he had been cautious at first — as one must be with anything that hange concocts and deems ‘safe to consume’ by their questionable standards — but eventually levi figured he’s better off getting poisoned than risking being too sleep deprived to avoid death by man-eating zombie behemoth.

erwin’s death was hard on hange too; not only losing someone they knew since their cadet days, but being passed down the responsibility of being commander after a man who was quite possibly one of the greatest of his time, if not in history. the weight of wielding the same standing and authoritative power he had, the sheer number of duties and people that were now under hange’s direct care. with each passing day, they felt it sink deeper, bury itself into their shoulders like a poison, a parasite; thick and tightly bound and heavy. it’s not the first time they toss and turn more than they actually get some sleep for an entire night, but it is the first time that their herbs and plants do nothing to help.

maybe it’s the fact they were both erwin’s closest friends, the fact they’re now each other’s closest friends, or maybe it’s just the kind of bizarre experimental solution that only a scientist can come up with and lack enough dignity to try, but one sleepless night, a few weeks after erwin’s death, hange ends up at levi’s door. their fist is poised, ready to knock. they’ve been stood here hesitating for long enough that their wrist has grown tired, dipping and letting their knuckles graze the wood silently.

“what do you want, four-eyes? you’ve been standing there for six whole minutes.”

it’s muffled and exhausted, but hange immediately perks up at levi’s voice through the door. they should have seen it coming, at least half as well as levi had been able to hear them coming, it seems; they never have been good at being discreet.

“can i come in?”

they know levi wouldn’t answer anyway, so they say it less like the question it’s phrased as and more like a statement; a forewarning for their inevitable entry.

they shut the door behind them and lean against it, an awkward grin on their face that’s there more out of habit than politeness; just hange being hange, and like hange, they can’t help making a comment. “rough night?” they say with a chuckle. levi glares, or maybe just looks at them; the shadows under his eyes are so dark, it’s hard to tell if he means for his stare to appear so threatening.

hange rubs the back of their neck sheepishly. “well, that makes two of us then.”

“yeah, i know. you look like shit,” levi says with his usual charm. he’s sitting up now, rubbing his eyes and the bridge of his nose before moving his hand back to lean on both palms. for a moment, he doesn’t say anything, waiting for hange to speak, say a joke or laugh or toss him a cheap nonsensical quip or something — but to levi’s surprise, for once, hange doesn’t say anything, only stares with tired eyes and the remnants of their grin from before.

levi sighs. “come here,” he says, tilting his head in a lazy encouraging motion.

hange’s shoulders relax, doing as they’re told with as little delay as if it had been an order. levi shifts, making some room on the bed; a silent invitation.

“oh! really? can i really just–”

“don’t make me change my mind.”

levi rolls over onto his side, his back facing hange. anyone else might be offended by his indifferent behaviour and blunt responses, but hange sees the vulnerability and compassion in the details he fails to hide, or perhaps leaves behind on purpose: the tender look in his eyes, the caring curve of his eyebrows. either way, hange is climbing into the bed beside him, gingerly nudging themselves closer until their warmth is melting into levi’s own like the sun into the sky.

this is new. this touch, this moment. it’s new to them both, but the comfort it gives makes it feel familiar, and it’s that feeling, that warmth — that promise of someone being there when you wake up in the morning, dreading the day — that lulls them into the sleep that they’ve been missing so much.

insomnia is the norm for levi ackerman, but at least tonight it doesn’t have to be.

a/n: my first work!! it's been so long since i put my brain together for a drabble. fuck writers block TT anyways i hope you enjoy <3

levi loved you to death. he would do anything for you, anything to keep that sunshine of a smile that could make him crumble instantly. and on particular days when your mind was filtered out with nothing but the malice attacks of your anxiety, he was right by your side with the warmth of his heart and actions.

your body remained on your shared bed, unmoving and devoid of your usual enthusiasm. not even bothering with the time or whatever you had to complete for the day, you settled yourself deeper into the satin sheets, trying to nap the day away.

suddenly, your ears picked up on the faint footsteps of your lover approaching the doorway. levi rounded to your side of the bed and sat beside you carefully, all while concern taking form on his face. he saw how dull your eyes had been, dark circles becoming prominent and such – but even so, levi thought you were still the most beautiful gem he had ever come to know.

he brushed past your tangled streaks of hair, subtly caressing the pads of his fingers onto the surface of your soft skin. your blank expression slightly softened at his actions and at this, levi was the first to speak.

"you doing okay?" his tone ever so light and soft spoken, making sure to continue his ministrations to your hair.

levi patiently waited for your response considering you didn't automatically answer to his question.

" 'm okay my love... it's just-" at your sudden pause, you felt streams of tears wetting your face and the feeling of embarrassment overtook you – you hate it when this happens.

nothing more needed to be said, it would be too overwhelming for you to explain everything in one go. he never pushed you to talk about things you weren't ready for so instead, he scooted closer to you and shifted your body into his lap. you trembled against him, wanting to utterly disappear into a hole forever – but levi would never let you.

you felt two rough but gentle hands cup your cheeks, wiping at the unforgiving tears that stained your face. levi kissed under your eyes, not minding the salty aftertaste. however, the bitterness it left knowing his beloved was reduced to such a state that ripped you into pieces was what was ultimately distasteful to him.

you gazed up at him, desperately trying to ground yourself back to the world that is you and levi. his calloused hands circled around your back and his forehead tapped against yours. his breathing was steadied and paced and he used this opportunity to calm you further.

"deep breaths baby. one at a time. cmon, you can do it" he whispered. the little praises of levi ackerman were reserved for you and you felt privileged for your ears to be the only ones to hear it come from him.

you nodded and made sure to go over the techniques levi taught you when your anxiety attacks first started out.

breathe in through your nose and out your mouth.

minutes passed and time seemed lost for a moment – thankfully, you were back to square one again. breaths returned to normal and you finally felt in control.

and levi was so proud of you.

you sunk your face deeper into his chest, afraid that in any moment he'd disappear from your sight. levi was no different. he made sure his arms protectively wrapped around your body and gave reassuring squeezes that meant "i'm always here for you no matter what" in an unspoken, levi fashion.

"i'm sorry levi." you voice rumbled through him and he raised a brow at you questioningly. when he realized you were apologizing for what happened, he sternly replied, "no. none of that you hear me?"

while he knew his approach sounded cold without intending, he wanted to set the record straight.

he pulled away temporarily to meet the hues of your eyes and took your hands into his, "never and i mean never apologize for stuff like this okay? i don't care how many times this happens, i will always be here for you. i'm doing all this because i love you and i care about you so damn much."

"i'll never leave you alone."

at this, levi left you absolutely stunned. while words weren't his forte, he sure as hell gets passionate when it comes down to it. your mouth fell agape, yet a tinge of slyness crept on your face as you watched the tips of levi's ears flush a crimson red.

noticing your silence, he glanced up to see a coy smile paint your face. it was the first time in what felt like forever since he had seen a change in your expression and he was over the moon to see his sunshine glow again – even if it was in the slightest bit, it was still a start.

your lips met the tip of his nose in appreciation before you muttered under your breath,

"thank you a million times my darling."

Mercy is a word alien to them. Eren and Jean fight with no mercy, kiss with no mercy. The wall has turned into a medium for them to channel their violence and carnal desire and everything in between. But it does not matter, not to them.

The dents on the concrete wall and in their hearts make no difference. Jean's vice-like grip on the collar of Eren's shirt and Eren's vice-like grip across Jean's back go hand in hand. There are times when one of them would look in the mirror– to stare at the split lip of their reflection and ask themselves, was this from his fist or his teeth? But it does not matter, not to them.

The wall, it seems, is now wielding two roles– as a medium and as a silent witness. It witnesses as they gaze into each other's eyes with unspoken wonder about unspoken feelings. It witnesses as their anger fuses with lust and detonates. They have created their own definition and act of intimacy– a meaning so intricate that not even them could fully fathom. The web that is woven between them transcends language, because their hearts beat too loud and too fast for it to be called hate, and love should not cost them this many wounds. Hate is merciless, and so does love.

It does not matter, not to them. But they wear pretense like a veil.

Eren watches in horror as a building crumbles down on top of Armin the very same way one did for his mother. It all happens in slow motion as a Titan digs through the rubble until it finds its prize. Armin’s screams of terror are muted to Eren’s ears. Panic and flashbacks leave the brunette frozen.

Move.

The monster lifts the blond up and moves him to its mouth. Armin is struggling, but the building itself must’ve done its fair share of damage to the boy.

Move!

Mikasa’s own shouts and fight to get to Armin grounds Eren back to reality. The shifter bites down on his hand while breaking into a sprint.

Like hell he’d let this happen a second time.

AOT Ficlets and Drabbles: Trust Fall

Trust Fall

Summary: written for Sentence Ficathon 2024 Prompt: Any/any: a trust exercise

Levi sighed and rolled his eyes for the umpteenth time; this stupid corporate team building exercise is lame and a stupid waste of an afternoon. He works perfectly well with his team, and they have one of the highest metrics across the board for the entire company.

Currently they are working with some people from a different branch of the company. His team had five people (including himself) and the other team had three for a total of eight people. The event organizers randomly paired them up together to work on a “trust fall” exercise and he had the unfortunate luck of being paired with the most irritating four-eyed blond prick he had ever met.

Levi’s train of thought was broken when the organizers had the large group lay out a bunch of mats on the floor of the area they would be doing the exercise. So people wouldn’t fall on the hard floor when their partners inevitably failed to catch them. A good way to head off any lawsuits this stupid “team building exercise” might result.

Levi grumbled while he grabbed for one of the mats, only for someone else to take it before he had the chance. He was about to snipe at the offender when he took a good look at him. The would-be cushion thief was with the other group, but somehow Levi only just now noticed him. And he was hot, really hot; tall, slim, with long legs and big green eyes. Levi really wouldn’t mind doing the exercise with him instead.

The stranger smiled brightly, and introduced himself. “Hi, I’m Eren,” he said while holding out his hand to shake. Levi took his hand and introduced himself as well. Just then, the third member of the other team showed up with some more mats. Another blond jerk whom Eren introduced as Reiner, Eren’s assigned partner for this particular exercise.

Levi’s assigned partner also showed up, and to Levi’s surprise and displeasure, he went straight up to Reiner and demanded that they switch partners. It turned out the four-eyed jerk was Eren’s brother, even though they look nothing alike. Levi must have missed his name the first time he was introduced and finally found out that his name was Zeke. What a stupid name, Levi thought.

Zeke didn’t have much luck trying to convince Reiner before the event organizers called everyone to gather around so they could explain how the exercise should be done.

Levi tuned the organizers out at this point, blah blah blah blah, he knows how this sort of thing works, and he just wants to get this stupid thing over with. The other teams were doing their exercises while Levi's team patiently waited their turn. Levi saw that the exercise was being done with two pairs at the same time and suddenly, a flash of inspiration hit him. Levi decided right then to just do what he wants instead, he is senior enough that the higher ups won't be able to do anything to him anyways.

Levi's team's turn finally came up, he already made sure that Zeke and himself would be doing the exercise at the same time as Eren and Reiner. He saw that his own team complete the exercise successfully and with minimal fuss. While they were doing that, he made sure that Eren and Zeke agreed to go on the table first and got into position to catch them with Reiner.

When the organizer said "fall", Levi shoved past Reiner just in time to catch Eren in his arms. Reiner tripped over with a yelp. Meanwhile, an undignified scream could be heard from Zeke, followed by a thud as he splattered on the mat by himself.

Eren was blushing furiously in Levi's arms while protesting weakly about not doing their exercise properly. Levi's team for their part was laughing their asses off while the event organizers frowned at him in disapproval. Zeke was also glaring daggers at him from the floor.

He's probably going to be written up and get a slap on the wrist, but Levi thought that it was worth it. Especially since he managed to get Eren's phone number after the event concluded before Eren and his team left for their part of the company.

🍭✨🍨sticky & sweet 🧁✨🍭 - a milestone event !

hello, hello 💛it’s finally time for another milestone event! i didn’t expect to have one so soon tbh, but that’s just how life goes; the other day i saw that i had 555 followers at exactly 3:33 a.m. (spooky, but also extremely lucky?) and now that i have 564 followers, i want to show my appreciation for each one of you. when i first made this blog, it was really just to get back in the groove of writing — how i write off of tumblr is vastly different, actually — and to sort of experiment with various style of prose, so it’s been a learning curve and a fun journey writing, plus everyone’s been so cool so that’s been a plus 🥰 anyway, i present to you 🍭✨🍨sticky & sweet 🧁✨🍭 a 555+ followers event. i will write drabbles & ficlets/scenarios, and i will take requests for characters from one piece, jujutsu kaisen, attack on titan, & obey me.

please don’t forget to check out my rules before sending requests 💕

i’ve had a terrible sweet tooth lately, so that’s partly the inspiration behind this event’s theme. please choose a topping (it’s ok to request multiple), 3 to 5 items from the main menu and/or special menu (it’s ok to request multiple/combination from both lists), and one item from the secret menu (one character from the fandom of your choice). also, if you want me to choose for you, just let me know.

example: “hi! i would like to order an eclair, a chocolate truffle, and taffy with whipped cream and #1 (zoro) from the side menu.”

the event will run from 08.14.22 (today) until 11.05.22, so be sure to get your requests in before it finishes.
