Alright love, @hummingbird-of-light, I finished it. Sorry it took nearly a week past your birthday, but here’s the rest finally 😁
Stuck Here With You
Working together Jim and Scotty got the engineer from his chair and on the floor behind the seats. Scotty was breathing heavily and sweat had broken out across his forehead. His arm had tucked across his chest, holding his side. The restraints had dug into him as well.
Jim tried to keep his face neutral as he took in the bruised body of his friend. He didn’t want to worry Scotty. He turned to get the medkit.
“It’s not good, is it Jim?” Scotty asked.
“What?” Jim asked, trying to play dumb.
“Me,” Scotty said. “How bad is it?”
Jim gave a quick glance over his shoulder then went back to digging through the medkit.
“Jim.”
He heard the sound of Scotty struggling to sit up, and whipped back around.
“Hey! Lie down! Don’t overdo it,” he warned. He reached for his command shirt that had slipped away from Scotty’s shoulders. He folded it quickly and slid it behind where Scotty’s head would lay.
“Come on,” he encouraged. “Back down.”
“Tell me then lad,” Scotty said as he let Jim guide him back down onto his back.
“Yes. It doesn’t look great,” Jim admitted. “That cut is more like a gash on your face, and it’s already starting to bruise.”
Jim had given Scotty another dose of pain meds when he had finished doing what he could for the engineer’s leg. He had stopped the bleeding at least. The medkit only included basic equipment and Jim thanked his lucky stars that Bones had insisted on drilling him about first aid so many times.
As Jim sat back his head began to pound. He looked longingly at the hypo with the pain meds. He wouldn’t take it himself though. Who knew how long they would be stuck and Scotty needed it more than him. Jim could deal with a headache.
Scotty was dozing. He was still stretched out on the floor, Jim’s shirt for a pillow. Jim had found an emergency blanket and draped it over the engineer. Scotty had begun shivering again as Jim worked on his leg.
Five more minutes passed before Jim pushed himself to his feet. His head hurt and his side ached, but they had to get out of here. He had to see what they were dealing with. Whatever had hit their shuttle had knocked out comms and their beacon. The engines seemed alright, but the connection between them and the main console had been damaged.
Jim thought of the Enterprise and the crew waiting for them. Would they know something had happened? Would they know where to begin looking if they did start a search? Uhura would be hailing them only to receive no answer. Bones would be wearing a path back and forth behind the chair and Spock would be calling for wider and wider scans.
Spock.
If anyone could find them it would be the Vulcan first officer and the best bridge crew in the fleet. A quick smile crossed Jim’s face and he began to unscrew covering panels from the main console.
Scotty mumbled something in his sleep and Jim glanced over. Scotty’s fingers tightened in a fold of the blanket. He could almost swear the engineer had mumbled the doctor’s name, but it had been followed by what sounded like Scottish to Jim’s ears, so he wasn’t certain.
As he lifted the panel he had unscrewed away, Jim let out a sigh. He knew his way around the inner workings of a console, but the crushed confusion before him was too much. He set the panel cover aside and crawled back over by Scotty. When the engineer woke up, maybe he would have a better idea of what to do.
Scotty looked more himself when he woke. His face was darkening with bruises around the cut and bandage, but his eyes were bright and eager to work. Jim helped him sit up and maneuver towards the panel he had opened. He didn’t want Scotty putting pressure on his hurt leg.
“Find me some tools lad?” he asked and Jim hurried to the back of the shuttle for the rest of the toolbox.
When he returned Scotty was pushing wires aside and peering through the mess.
“This doesn’t look good Jim,” he said with a frown.
“If anyone can fix it, it’s you,” Jim said confidently.
Scotty gave him a tight smile, then turned back to the console.
It was silent as Scotty worked, except when he asked Jim for different tools. The more he dug deeper into the panel, the lower his hopes dropped. Too many shorts and burnt out wires. He couldn’t make a strong enough signal with anything left still functioning and that was even if he strung them all together.
He could open other panels, in other places on the shuttle. He could take what he needed from those places. But trying to remember what would fit from where would take time, and Scotty’s body was tiring from his injuries.
“I had one idea Jim,” he said softly.
“Hmm?” Jim asked.
Scotty looked over his shoulder and saw the heavy lids on his friend’s eyes.
“Do- do ye and Spock have a bond?” Scotty asked bluntly.
Jim’s face began to color, and he eyed Scotty nervously.
“I- I don’t know what you mean.”
Scotty sighed and set down the tools he was holding. Sliding himself back, he sat up next to the console.
“Jim. He’s Vulcan. They form bonds between partners. Ye’re partners. So. Do ye have a bond?”
“We- we aren’t - we aren’t —” Jim was shaking his head, but Scotty saw the guilty look in his eyes.
“I’m not judging. I’m happy if yer happy. Ye want it to be a secret, great. I’ll keep it secret. But if ye’ve got a bond and can call to him through it…” Scotty looked at him expectantly. “If I could call to Len like that, I would have done it when ye woke me. But we can’t. Too human.”
Jim’s mouth was working around but no words were forming.
“It’d save us a great amount of time if ye can,” Scotty continued.
“You and Bones?” Jim finally got out.
“Aye lad. We like our privacy too.”
Jim looked at Scotty in surprise. His thoughts raced and things he had barely noticed the last few months suddenly made sense. Bones had been cheerier, nicer to Jim when he ended up in medbay. He had also begged off from meeting for a drink more often, claiming he had work or was tired. Of course if he was spending his time with Scotty that all made sense.
He dropped his head to his chest as Scotty continued to look at him expectantly.
“Yes,” he admitted quietly. “We’re together. We want to keep it quiet. I’ve never reached out to him like this though. I’m not sure…”
“I’m sure ye can,” Scotty said encouragingly.
“Ok.”
Jim took a few deep breaths and closed his eyes. He pictured Spock in his mind. The Vulcan’s image sprang up right away.
Jim?
Spock!?
For a moment Jim saw Spock sitting in the command chair on the bridge.
Jim, what—
The shuttle was hit. We’ve got no comm or beacon. Engines are out, and it’ll take time but they can be fixed.
Where are you?
“Scotty, do we have our coordinates?” Jim opened his eyes.
“Give me a minute.” Scotty pulled himself up into one of the chairs, careful to not put pressure on his hurt leg.
Jim closed his eyes and breathed deep again.
Jim?
Scotty’s hurt and will need Bones.
The coordinates?
Jim repeated them silently in his mind as Scotty read them off to him.
Sulu estimates we will reach you in ninety minutes. Are you injured?
Jim hesitated.
Yes, but not like Scotty is.
The minutes dragged as they waited.
Jim had made Scotty lie down again to rest and prevent any further harm to his leg. In turn, Scotty had forced Jim to go find another emergency blanket for himself, since Jim’s shirt was still Scotty’s pillow.
“It will nae hurt ye to stay warm,” he had told Jim.
From time to time Jim closed his eyes and thought of Spock. Almost immediately the Vulcan would respond with how much longer it would take for the Enterprise to reach them. Jim would relay the information to Scotty, who would nod and remind him to relax.
Finally Jim’s curiosity grew too strong.
“How long Scotty?”
“Hmm? Ye just told me twenty minutes.” Scotty glanced over with a confused look.
“No,” Jim shook his head. “You and Bones.”
“Oh,” Scotty said. He closed his eyes for a moment. “A few months,” he said, eyes opening again. “But please Jim, don’t say anything about it. We’ve liked keeping it quiet.”
“Sure. You’ll keep me and Spock quiet. It’s repaying the favor.”
“Will ye and Spock stay quiet? How are ye going to explain how he knew where we were?”
Jim’s face dropped. “Well, I won’t say anything about you two at least.”
“Thanks lad,” Scotty said sympathetically.
“It’s good?” Jim asked. “Bones seems happier.”
Scotty smiled fondly. “Aye. Quite good.”
“Lot easier to be secret when your quarters share a bathroom.”
“Ye would know lad,” Scotty laughed. Jim’s face colored lightly. “But yes. I may have rewired a few things between our rooms. The door and comms for one.”
“What? Really?”
“We spend most of our time on my side. Late night calls from sickbay can’t go unanswered.”
Jim looked at Scotty in wonder before he gave a laugh.
“I don’t suppose—”
“No problem. Tell me when,” Scotty grinned.
When the shuttle gave a shudder, Jim closed his eyes and Scotty looked out the window at the front of the shuttle.
“She’s here,” Scotty said. He pushed himself to sit up. The Enterprise was closing in on them.
“They’ve got us in the tractor beam,” Jim said, opening his eyes again. “Bones and a team are standing by in the shuttle bay.”
“He’s not going to be happy seeing us like this,” Scotty said looking at the cut on Jim’s face and the bruising beginning to surround it.
“No,” Jim corrected. “He’s going to blame me.”
“Nae Jim, he just gets worried. So worried and it comes out like anger. If he didn’t yell at us some, that’s when I’d be concerned.”
Jim managed a weak smile. “Ok,” he agreed with a nod.
The door opened nearly as the shuttle settled on the hangar floor. The doctor was in the shuttle quickly with Spock hot on his heels. McCoy’s face went a few shades paler as he took in Scotty half laying, half sitting on the shuttle floor. His cheek twitched and he seemed to stop himself before he said something.
“What happened?” he finally managed, crouching close to Scotty and beginning to turn the engineer’s head to look at the gash.
“I dinnae ken,” Scotty said, before murmuring something else to McCoy.
Spock looked over with a questioning look, before turning back to Jim.
“Captain, are you injured?”
Jim shook his head. “Just this.” He pointed to his face. “Oh, and my ribs might be bruised. Scotty got pierced and pinned by the shuttle.” Jim pointed at the crushed console where Scotty had been sitting.
“I did what I could, Bones,” Jim continued as McCoy pushed away the blanket to see Scotty’s leg.
“At least something I said to you stuck,” McCoy grumbled. Jim saw Scotty reach for the doctor’s hand. A moment later McCoy added, “you did a good job kid.”
Jim began to get up.
“Sit back down!” McCoy commanded. “I haven’t checked you over yet. Spock, get Chapel and the stretcher in here for Mon— for Scotty.”
Jim felt his mouth twitch into a grin.
“So relieved to see your lover in one piece you almost forgot yourself, huh, Bones?”
Jim moved back a tiny bit as McCoy whipped around and glared at him.
“Aye, love, he knows,” Scotty said, touching McCoy’s shoulder. “And he’ll keep his mouth shut.” Scotty looked at Jim warningly.
“He better,” McCoy growled.
He reached for Jim’s chin and turned his face to see the cut. “Any pain? Light sensitivity? Dizziness?”
Jim pulled his chin away and shook his head. “No, but you’re still going to force me to medbay aren’t you?”
“You know it,” McCoy said, a faint smile appearing slowly. “Thanks for taking care of him,” he said softly.
“You’d have done the same for me and- and Spock,” Jim admitted.
McCoy raised an eyebrow. “Dammit, now I owe you twenty credits don’t I?” he said looking over his shoulder at Scotty.
Scotty grinned. “Aye, ye do.”
“What?” Jim asked in disbelief. “You bet on us?”
“Of course,” Scotty said. “Ye made it obvious.”
“No!— We— No—” Jim shook his head, but the color continued to rise on his face.
“Oh Mr. Scott! You poor thing!” came the voice of Nurse Chapel.
“It’s nae so bad Nurse, the captain did a fine job patching me.”
“Well Dr. McCoy will get you fixed and back to engineering before you know it,” she smiled.
“Yeah he will,” Jim muttered under his breath as the doctor and nurse helped Scotty onto the stretcher.
“Lt. Keenser is already on his way up with a team to begin repairs,” Spock said.
“Good,” Scotty said. “I think I could do with a day off.” He winked at McCoy, who began to blush and Jim laughed.
“Make it two days Scotty. I want you back in top form.”
“Aye aye sir,” Scotty grinned.

(Edited to add headshots because tumblr hates detail) I've etched away at this is a lovely few weeks, so click for full res and all the little details, okay? It's my love letter to the journey I've found myself on
This is long-ish, so its under the cut (but worth reading...)
I had been thinking a lot recently about that double feature episode, you know the one? I half remembered it then, when they chased a bunch of alien spies so fast through the solar system they all got thrown back in time. Half the crew went on a little undercover adventure in Toronto in 2024. It was great because they got completely cut off from the Enterprise, so half of them, well mostly Uhura and Spock if I recall correctly, spent their time collecting as many radios as possible and worked on building their own communications. Uhura and Spock were basically taking turns constantly tweaking radios by the window with wires everywhere. Oh yeah, their base of operations was the whole top floor of a worn out old building looking over a big square. They ended up in the really arty/queer part of town full of art galleries and thrift stores.....??
Chapel and Chekov were sent out to those shops to find disguises for everyone. I loved the joke that Chekov was puzzled and slightly alarmed that Christine just knew everyone's clothes sizes and measurements with no explanation. Later on, they ended up getting separated from the rest of the group and getting held up by B story shenanigans, mostly getting lost and running into culture shocks. It was fun to see them having their own adventures and made for a pretty interesting combo. Spock and Uhura spent most of their time with the tech, accidentally listening to the times most popular music while changing frequencies. Jim and Sulu paired off to search for clues, and getting supplies and spent a lot of time talking to the locals setting up for a Pride parade. McCoy, feeling paranoid and irritable that he had practically no equipment, wandered around with Dr Alfred Nahdi, the Botanist, who kept picking random weeds and talking about how extraordinary the little dandelions were. Oh and together they stole a whole medical bag out of an ambulance?? It was pretty funny.  Anyway, the main issue was they couldn’t risk leaving the area because all these alien spies had assimilated into the population and they had to track them all down and bring them back with them so as not to disrupt the timeline or something. They had to track down the aliens while making sure the aliens didn't pick up on who they were or that they were also out of place. They ended up being there for around two whole ass months, I think. The spies were spread out all over and there were about 30 of them, but it ended up being the Botanist, Alfred (Alfie) Nahdi who found the enemy base of operations by complete accident. Alfred, who had spent most of the time studying all the common flowers and weeds that were so ordinary at that time but were extinct in their time, figured out where the aliens' base of operations was because the big plant shop at the end of the square had a few succulents that could not have existed in 2024. It was a big "woah" moment. And there was this whole thing where he had to act like he hadn’t just figured it out because the florist, who was almost certainly a spy, was watching him and McCoy. But soon after, it all went to hell anyway when a fight broke out and Sulu was straight up shot with the aliens' weapon that had bullets made from alien metal. So then Bones had to perform old school surgery on him in their HQ, with only 2024 equipment. Jim, Spock, and Uhura were out fighting and ran into Chapel and Chekov and were able to finish them off, but it got really crazy because there was a Pride parade in the square at the same time so they had to make sure no one noticed them. While Bones was pulling bullets out of Sulu, with the botanist assisting him until Chapel (who had been sent by Jim) appeared and took over. McCoy said something like, “Christine, I’ve never been so glad to see you in my life,” and they sewed him up all old school. And it worked out! But Bones was a mess because he had to do messy surgery with none of his kit, and so much pressure, and more blood than he was used to... Chapel stayed with Sulu, and Bones and Nahdi went to sit on the fire escape stairwell and had a sweet scene of Bones just full of adrenaline, his hands couldn't stop shaking. They sat hand in hand for a while listening to all the people on the streets below. Then Spock, Jim, Uhura, and Chekov appeared at the stairwell and they all had a happy, albeit exhausted reunion. After a day of everyone recovering from all the excitement, Uhura and Spock used some extra tech they got from the aliens and finally made contact with poor Scotty who was up on the Enterprise losing the will to live. Anyway, their outfits were iconic tbh.
I invented this whole thing to draw Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy in a sweater. I lost control of the situation. I spent a lovely two weeks etching away at this with the support of my lovely ST server, I love you guys. This ones for you.

Star Trek TOS slash bits (Season one)
This is my personal rundown of all the slash scenes in TOS season one. Actually, "slash" isn't an accurate descriptor, since slash was born after and because of Star Trek; but I didn't know how to call it otherwise. I've omitted episodes when I didn't find anything remarkable in them. And I've tried to be as objective as possible. Of course, this stuff depends a lot on the "eye of the beholder", so your mileage might vary.
-What I count: lingering touches or affectionate looks, clinginess, actions that show a strong concern/familiarity with each other, suggestive scenes...
-What I DON'T count: friendly gestures (like smiling or looking amused when someone says something funny), scenes taken out of context, physical proximity just because there's not enough space...
I'll try to illustrate some scenes when necessary, though screenshots usually don't do justice to it.
For season two, go here. For season three, go here.
The Corbomite Maneuver:
Spirk: Kirk tells Spock his explanations give him "emotional security" with a loving look. Spock appears a bit embarrassed. Not counting the scene where Kirk makes a video call while shirtless (funny as it may seem out of context), since that scene has nothing to do with Spock himself. He's just calling the bridge, not Spock in particular.
McKirk: McCoy surely likes to cling to the Captain's chair a lot. He gets really close for a good chunk of the episode.
Tumblr media
Should I count the scene where he hides a red alert in sickbay, so Kirk can keep sweating shirtless in his med bed? On the one hand, it may seem suggestive, but on the other, McCoy is just anxious about finishing his medical exam on the Captain.
Spones: McCoy tells Spock (with a somewhat hopeful look) that he'd love to teach him strip poker. Remarkable because there's no hint of sarcasm at all, and Spock answers with a mischievous smile.
The Enemy Within
Spirk: The scene where Spock enters the cabin and seems so agitated by the sight of shirtless, absurdly sensual Kirk.
Tumblr media
Also a bit at the end, when Kirk thanks Spock on behalf of his two... halves. He has the Look in his eyes.
McKirk: McCoy is again pretty close and physical with Kirk (the good one). He stops agreeing with Spock's logical plan to merge the two halves, as soon as they discover that it may put Kirk's life in danger.
The true couple of this episode, however, is Good Kirk x Evil Kirk.
The Man Trap
McKirk: The way Kirk tells McCoy that he's not counting his errors, and how he smiles and approaches him to apologize, comes off rather flirtatious.
Tumblr media
Also, though he's joking, Kirk can't help offering McCoy the most shitty bouquet of flowers ever, and calling him by his pet name "Plum" at the first opportunity.
The Naked Time
Spirk: "Jim, when I feel friendship for you, I'm ashamed". Also at the end, when Spock asks Kirk if he's okay, but Kirk asks Spock about his wellbeing instead, with a loving expression in his face.
Tumblr media
Balance of Terror
McKirk: The scene where Kirk is lying in bed and he invites McCoy to enter, and then they stare at each other with such fondness. On top of that McCoy makes a heartfelt speech about the uniqueness of all lives, and begs Kirk not to sacrifice himself.
Tumblr media
What Are Little Girls Made Of?
Spirk: This may be a stretch, but Chapel implies that she can recognize the real Corby by his voice alone, because she's in love with him. Later, Spock guesses there's something wrong with Kirk just hearing him (actually an imitation of his voice made by an android). Apart from this, Kirk's way of ensuring that his android copy is recognized as a fake, is implanting in him mean remarks about Spock.
Dagger of the Mind
McKirk: Again, McCoy has to be all over Kirk's chair whenever he's in the bridge.
Spirk: At the end, Kirk ponders about loneliness, but then he looks at Spock, smiles, and seems to get better. Spock kind of returns the smile.
Besides this, Spock's mind meld with Van Gelder is rather... well... intense.
Miri
Spirk: A brief moment, but when Spock says "Whatever happens, I can't go back to the ship, and I do want to go back to the ship, Captain", he and Kirk exchange knowing looks, and Spock even smiles a bit.
Tumblr media
Spones: Spock is very tender with McCoy while he's unconscious, after testing the vaccine on himself. He holds his hands for a looooong time.
Tumblr media
The Galileo Seven
McKirk: McCoy still seems unable to talk with Kirk at a normal distance in the bridge. Granted, he gets so close because he's gossiping about Spock's emotional reaction. But that makes it even more gay.
Tumblr media
Spirk: "Mister Spock, you're a stubborn man." In context, he's just teasing Spock like everybody else on the bridge, but in Kirk's case, it seems more affectionate.
Tumblr media
Court Martial
Spirk: It's normal that a First Officer would be loyal to his Captain, and testify in his favor when his career is at stake. But Spock's comparison of Kirk's inability to make a mistake, with a hammer's inability to overcome gravity, is way too much, isn't it? Specially for someone who pretends to be as logical as Spock.
The Menagerie
McSpirk McCoy refuses to believe Spock is the culprit, despite damning evidence against him. And he's barely able to arrest him, sending him to his quarters instead of the brig. Kirk is more firm in his duties as Captain, but still considers the court martial against Spock as the most difficult time in his career. At one point, he almost wishes his shuttle failed, so he didn't have to confront Spock.
This episode also shows how crazy Spock can become to protect those he loves and respects (in this case, Pike). Motherfucker just committed mutiny in the Captain's face!
Shore Leave
Spirk At the very start, Spock stands behind the Captain's chair, and Kirk complains about pain in his back. A yeoman, also behind him, starts giving Kirk a back massage. And Kirk seems to be enjoying it quite a lot... until he discovers it's not Spock doing it. Then he orders the yeoman to stop, annoyed. Also later, when the airplane is shooting at Kirk and Spock, the two of them embrace and grab each other a lot. It doesn't help that Kirk has, as usual, his tits out.
Tumblr media
The Squire of Gothos
Spirk The best way for Trelane to ensure Kirk's cooperation is threatening Spock at gunpoint. This changes Kirk's attitude to him at once.
There's also something seductive (and masochistic) in Kirk's promise to Trelane to give him all the excitement he wants with a manhunt game.
Arena
Spones "Doctor, you're a sensualist" "You bet your pointed ears I am..." It's not just what he says, it's how he says it.
Tumblr media
There's also a little detail, when Spock raises from the Captain's chair, and Bones purposefully follows his hand with his fingers. It's strange. Might be an unconscious action on DeForest's part?
Tumblr media
The Alternative Factor
McKirk A similar example as the previous "sensualist" one, but this time with Kirk.
Tumblr media
Tomorrow is Yesterday
McKirk He can't stop doing this, can he?
Tumblr media
Besides this, McCoy gets very anxious as soon as Kirk beams down to the airforce base, and argues with Spock because he feels the Science Officer isn't doing enough to retrieve Kirk from there.
Spirk Kirk hits a guard and hurts his hand a little, so Spock goes toward him and checks the poor baby's wrist.
However, nothing in this episode compares to the truly lustful looks that Kirk directs to Captain Christopher, when he first meets him.
Tumblr media
The Return of the Archons
Spirk At the end, Kirk keeps looking at Spock with silly heart eyes, even though the conversation is a philosophical one, about the pros and cons of a society run by computers.
Tumblr media
A Taste of Armageddon
Spirk "Captain, you almost make me believe in luck." "Why, Mister Spock, you almost make me believe in miracles." Bonus points because it comes absolutely from nowhere, since the day was saved by Kirk's power of bluff and special brand of diplomacy. Spock hasn't done anything particularly miraculous (well, there's the mind meld with the wall, but that was a brief moment). Spock also looks confused, and there's that comedic music in the background.
Space Seed
The only thing I can think of, is the tense scene between Kahn and McCoy in sickbay, when he grabs the doctor by the neck and says he likes brave men. Followed by McCoy's statement that Kahn has a certain "magnetism, almost electric". The final confrontation between Kirk and Kahn is also a bit suggestive at times.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This Side of Paradise
Spones MCCOY: That didn't sound at all like Spock, Jim. KIRK: No. I thought you said you might like him if he mellowed a little. MCCOY: I didn't say that. KIRK: You said that. MCCOY: Not exactly. He might be in trouble.
Notice how quick Bones denies having said he might like Spock... Almost as if embarrassed. Does he think often about how Spock could be more to his liking?
Spirk It's possible to see some jealousy from Kirk about Spock and Leila's relationship. In particular during the fight, when he confronts Spock about his courtship of Leila. That came a bit out of nowhere. On the other hand, I disagree with the common idea that his parting from Leila has spirk undertones. On the contrary, he's just talking about his responsibility to the ship and "that man on the bridge" (the Captain; first Pike, now Kirk). And I think there's genuine regret in his abandonment of the simple happiness in the colony, to take care of these responsibilities. His mention of "purgatory" reinforces that.
The Devil in the Dark
Spirk Spock is very protective of Kirk in this episode. First, he invents some bullshit excuse to stay in the cave with him, instead of helping Scotty with the reactor (Kirk sees through his bullshit, by the way). Then he's quite unwilling to proceed separately through the tunnels. And finally, he gets really emotional when Kirk's alone with the horta, and asks him to kill the creature, even though Spock was the one who wanted to protect her first. Apart from this, Kirk supports Spock for a while, after being hurt by the mind meld with the horta.
Tumblr media
Errand of Mercy
One name: Kor. Interesting that the episode that introduced Klingons, did so by showing their commander lusting so much after Kirk. Kor checks Kirk out almost from the second he lays eyes upon him, tells him he'll "teach him how to use his tongue", invites him to a drink while Kirk sits suggestively, and both are somehow fascinated by their similarities as commanders (despite their opposite outlooks on life). Definitely one of the most obvious examples in season one.
Tumblr media
City on the Edge of Forever
Spirk This exchange:
SPOCK: Interesting. Where would you estimate we belong, Miss Keeler? EDITH: You? At his side, as if you've always been there and always will.
Some people have said that, since Spock's computer contraption occupies one bed, Kirk and Spock would need to sleep together on the other bed. I don't agree though; I see no reason why they couldn't move the thing to the floor at night. It's not that big.
McSpirk How they run to embrace Bones when they finally find him. Even Spock is overcome by emotion.
Tumblr media
Operation: Annihillate!
McSpirk Both Kirk and McCoy are very concerned about Spock having lost his sight (much more than Spock himself). Though they react differently. McCoy is heartbroken and blames himself. Kirk reacts with anger and lashes out at Bones, which makes him feel even more guilty. Though later he apologizes. There's also this scene where the three get ridiculously pressed together.
Tumblr media
Doesn't count in part, because there's not that much space. McCoy didn't need to come bumping into the other two, though (someone could have moved a bit forward).
Spones McCoy is offended about Spock not appreciating his face upon recovering sight, and complains that he just can't recognize beauty. He's also quite embarrassed because Spock heard him saying he was the best officer in Starfleet.
Summary
Spirk: 16 out of 29 episodes Spones: 5/29 McKirk: 8/29 McSpirk: 3/29

So some time I ago, I read and enjoyed Avatar of Victory by James Golen, a Mass Effect and Avatar: The Last Airbender crossover. Being me, I sat down and composed a list of what Star Trek characters would be under similar circumstances: If the World of Avatar was the Earth of Star Trek. I came across that list today and decided it deserved a bit of an overhaul as well as expanding to include Discovery, Prodigy, Lower Decks, and Picard.
-----------------------------------
TOS
Kirk: Water
Spock: Earth
McCoy: Badass Normal
Uhura: Air
Scotty: Fire
Sulu: Air
Chekov: Badass Normal
Yeoman Rand: The Avatar, discovered to be so only when well into her career, as she did not want to be known. (What, you thought KIRK would be the Avatar? Hell no.)
Nurse Chapel: Badass Normal
Star Trek the Animated Series Only:
M'Ress: Water
Arex: Badass Normal
----------------------
TNG
Picard: Badass Normal. (Starfleet has an unconscious bias towards favoring benders in command positions, but Picard is just that awesome.)
Riker: Air
Data: No bending, but he’s surprisingly aware of the spirit world.
Worf: Fire
Troi: Badass Normal (Bending is incredibly rare among Betazoids)
Beverly Crusher: Water
Wesley Crusher: Badass Normal
Pulaski: Fire
Guinan: Air
Ensign Ro: Fire
LaForge: Water
Ensign Jae: Water (Jae Tribute Music Video, as some may not know who she is, but with more than a hundred appearances across TNG, DS9, and Voyager, actress Tracee Coco deserves to be acknowledged)
--------------------------------------
DS9
Sisko: Earth
Kira: Badass Normal
Jadiza Dax: Water
Ezerei Dax: Air
Odo: N/A (Note: The Dominion had never encountered bending until DS9. They’re very interested. Odo, on the other hand, regards it as a mildly useful trick)
Bashir: Badass Normal
O’Brien: Water
Worf: (See TNG)
Quark, Rom, Nog: N/A (Ferengi don’t have benders)
Garak; Badass normal
--------------------------------
Voyager
Janeway: Fire
Chakotay: Earth
Torres: Earth
Paris: Air
Kim: Air
Doctor: N/A
Tuvok: Air
Neelix: Earth

Seven: Unclear. Towards the end of her time on Voyager, Seven was begining to display signs of being an airbender, but also some hints of waterbending. By the time they got back to Earth, Voyager learned that Avatar Rand had been killed in action against Jem’Hadar fanatics in the Delta Quadrant around the time Seven had been freed from the Borg. Chakotay theorized that being set free of the Borg could count as being born, which means Seven could be the new Avatar. As of this writing, the White Lotus has refused comment.

Strangely enough, the crew of the NX-O1 were all non-benders save for T’Pol, an Earthbender, and Phlox, who’s species only produces Airbenders.

Chris Haunts The Enterprise Pt. 3
Leonard McCoy was a man of science and not prone towards an interest in paranormal activity. Goodness knows, he dealt with enough bizarre and terrifying things in space without adding ghosts to the mix! He’d heard tales of the exploits of ghost! Chris Pike but firmly believed they were all just pranking him. Ghosts did not exist!
And then odd things started happening in his Medbay. He kept hearing distant laughter at random times, his whiskey glasses were rearranged and neatly sorted, and there was a strange tapping sound in what appeared to be morse code happening every so often.
He figured it was Jim messing with him and even dusted his immaculate glasses for prints, but they were clean.
“You run a great Medbay, Doctor,” Chris’s voice said one day, causing Leonard to start and clutch his desk.
“Great. I’m hallucinating again,” he said with a sigh.
“Thank you, figment of my imagination,” he replied, good naturedly.
“Oh, Leonard. You always were a stubborn one,” sighed the voice that sounded like Chris. “You really believe the entire bridge crew, including Spock, is lying to you about my existence?”
“We’ve had mind control happen before,” Leonard pointed out. “Hostile beings love to torment us with visions and the really mean ones use our late friends to torment us. Somebody just wants to mess with me.”
He heard a very loud, THUMP, THUMP, THUMP! followed by the erratic tapping again. Leonard grinned as he recognized the morse code profanities loud and clear. Hmmm. A salty “ghost”. He could have some fun with this.
“Sounds like you’re throwing a tantrum,” he commented. “I’ll comm Spock.”
“Good. Get Spock,” Chris said petulantly. “Maybe Dr. M’Benga too.”
A bottle of whiskey moved perilously close to the edge of Leonard’s desk. He grabbed it back, wondering if there were issues with the stabilizers or gravity fields. Two more bottles started moving in alternating directions, back and forth, back and forth. Leonard turned pale.
“I swear if you break any of my stash, I will end you,” he threatened.
Ghostly laughter ensued.
“Khan already did that,” Chris chuckled. “Now will you open your mind a little?”
“Hmmph.” Leonard snorted, wincing a bit. “If you are real, You better not be making those kinds of glib statements around Jim,” he sighed. “He was devastated when you died. Quite frankly, I was, too.”
“I’ve mostly been annoying Jim,” the ghost admitted. “Banished me from the bridge.”
Spock arrived just at the moment and Leonard was very relieved. He was very afraid he was cracking up.
“What do you need, Doctor?” Spock asked. A loud tapping sound suddenly broke out just outside the office door and the first officer sighed audibly.
“I need to know if the ship has been experiencing any weird technical issues I should know about.”
He explained what had been happening and Spock listened seriously.
“No technical problems have been reported in the last seventy-two hours, doctor.”
“Why would I be hallucinating Chris Pike?” He wondered.
“The admiral has appeared to the bridge crew as well, Leonard,” Spock informed him calmly. “In fact, he is currently sitting on a biobed right now, talking to nurse Chapel.”
“You’re the last person I would ever have expected to believe in ghosts, Spock!” Leonard exclaimed, brow furrowed. “Are you sure you’re alright?”
“Quite well,” Spock answered. “You found nothing amiss when you examined me last week. I, too, was concerned about the possibility of seeing illusions, but I was forced to face the truth after multiple sightings. We do indeed have a resident specter on board the Enterprise.”
Leonard groaned. “Just what I didn’t need to deal with on top of everything else. He’s gonna drive me out of my mind. And why can’t I see him?”
“Many of the Bridge crew could only hear him at first and later he became visible to them. I theorize that the same pattern will hold for you.”
“This is nuts,” Leonard muttered. “But as long as you don’t think I’m losing my mind, I guess I’ll just have to roll with it.”
“I have not observed anything in your behavior that would suggest a mental lapse,” Spock said. “If the admiral becomes a nuisance, simply order him to leave. The Captain has been forced to utilize this tactic frequently.”
“I can see why.” Leonard mumbled. “He was swearing at me in morse code.”
“He also has a habit of tapping his cane and breaking into dance frequently,” Spock added.
Leonard chuckled. “I can’t wait to see that. Chris Pike dancing? Ooh, boy. I don’t think I ever saw him so much as slow dance, let alone cut a rug.”
Spock’s lip curved up. “Prepare to be very surprised, doctor. The admiral had several hidden skills he now takes delight in displaying very openly and frequently.”
“Oh, no,” Leonard cringed in sympathy. “We’re in for it now.”
“Indeed, Doctor.” Spock agreed.

The Country Doctor, Chapter 5: Going Home
Tumblr media
Pairing: Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy x F!Reader (eventual). Other Characters are the usual suspects: Jim Kirk, Nyota Uhura, Spock, Christine Chapel, Scotty, Guinan. Jocelyn (Leonard's ex-wife, mentioned)
Word Count: 4955
Warnings: Medical stuff, Leonard slipping into "doctor mode", supportive townspeople, friends trying to get Leonard and the Reader to confront their feelings about each other, scheming CEO, escape from the hospital, Jim still being his usual, charming, mischievous self. Slow burn (I know) but it's going to heat up a bit here and going forward.
Summary: Fresh off of his divorce, Dr. McCoy receives word that he has inherited a 5,000-acre farm and home in Logan, Montana. Finally, he has an opportunity for a clean slate and to start his own clinic out west and leave his ex-wife behind. Along the way, he'll meet a cast of unique characters, each with a place in his new small-town life. But there could be trouble ahead in the form of a powerful CEO hell-bent on acquiring Leonard's property by any means necessary.
A/N: This idea was posted by @hailbop1701, with a specific list of plot points/dialog, which will appear in bold in this chapter. Still not sure how many parts there'll be, but I hope you like where I take the story. Also, I have intermixed AOS with NextGen to include additional characters.
A/N 2: If you’ve been tagged here, it’s because you’ve interacted one or more times on a McCoy story of mine, or we’re moots. Whether you like or reblog, I am eternally grateful for your support. If anyone else would like to be tagged on any future Karl Urban character postings, or would rather leave the Crazy Train, please let me know. Thank you, and enjoy the show!

Previously:
"If it's a war they want, I'll give them a war."
The incessant beeping from the machines at your bedside finally broke through the fog of your concussion. You tried to move your bandaged right arm, then noticed it was partially held down by hands tucked under a head full of dark hair. A gentle smile curved your lips as you recognized who was keeping vigil at your bedside.
As you carefully attempted to slide your hand out, Leonard stirred awake. His head slowly rose and he looked around before eventually his gaze landed on you. He leisurely blinked his eyes as they adjusted to the brightness level of your room and flashed you a tender smile. "Hey, you're awake," he murmured.
"You noticed," you teased. "Where am I? How long have I been out? What's the prognosis, Doc?"
"One question at a time, darlin'," he chuckled. "You're at the hospital in Belgrade, where you've been out for the past day or so." He moved to sit on the edge of your bed and explained about your concussion, broken left arm, plus the second-degree burns. "Your prognosis is good, although you've got some recovery time ahead of you. And you can bet I'll be makin' sure you're takin' it easy. Doctor's orders," he winked.
"Whatever you say, Doc," you quipped, then dropped your gaze to your hands in your lap. "Thank you, Len. 'M real sorry I interrupted your fishin' trip with Jim. Have you been here this whole time?"
"Been here pretty much since Uhura told us you were brought in. And don't you worry none about the fishin' trip, sweetheart. That's not important. What is important is there were hardly any injuries, yours being the most serious. As you can see, though, we got you patched up, and you're safe now," he affirmed.
A knock on the door paused your conversation as you called out and granted entrance to your room. Jim carried a vase of flowers, while Uhura brought in a bag with the pharmacy's logo on it. When you asked her about it, she explained that Mr. Spock and Christine put in a few magazines, plus your Lemon Drops and some Butterscotch Disks.
"How nice of them to do that," you remarked, your eyes becoming glassy. You cleared your throat to regain your composure. "Oh! That reminds me. I'll need to reorder our clinic supplies from the pharmacy, since everything was in the back of the truck."
"Will you please relax? Let me contact Spock, and we'll get the supply order all sorted out. You just focus on getting enough rest so you can get out of here," Leonard replied.
"What're you talkin' about, I am rested," you protested weakly as you yawned, and your eyelids began to droop again.
Leonard gave you a barely-contained grin and rested a hand on your cheek. "Uh-huh, yeah, keep tellin' yourself that, sweetheart," he lightly chuckled.
When he stood up to leave, you grabbed his hand. "Please don't go," you pleaded softly.
"Close your eyes and rest, darlin', I won't be gone long. Jim and I are going back to the house and get cleaned up, then we'll come right back here, I promise. Need anything from home?" he asked.
"Mmm, maybe my toothbrush, please?" you mumbled.
Leonard bent down and pressed a kiss to your forehead. "You got it, sugar," he whispered. "Nyota's going to stay with you while we run home, okay?" You nodded slowly in response, your eyes already closed and halfway to dreamland. He met Uhura on the way out of your room. "Take care of our girl, hmm?"
"Of course, Dr. McCoy," she replied with a knowing grin. In response, he rolled his eyes with a smirk as he strode down the hall.
***
A short time later, the car wove its way along the highway returning to the McCoy family home. On the way back, the conversation was sporadic, with the silence filled by the music from the radio, playing at a low volume.
Mostly, they talked about how worried they were for you and how to make your recovery at home as easy as possible. They also speculated about who was behind the attack. "Tell you this much, Jim. I'm not going to stop until we find the sonofabitch who's behind all of this," Leonard growled.
"I'm right with you, Bones. You know you can count on me and just about everyone else in this town to help you," Jim vowed. Leonard nodded his head in thanks.
As they turned up the driveway, they noticed a few unfamiliar cars parked near the house. "Um, Bones, were you expecting company? 'Cause it looks like we have some people waiting for us," he gestured towards the figures rising from their seats on the porch.
Jim and Leonard slowly exited the car and cautiously approached the house. As they got closer, they were relieved to see that their visitors included Mr. Spock, Christine, and Scotty. Also in attendance was Guinan, whom they'd had yet to meet, until today.
"Good evening, Dr. McCoy. We hope you can forgive us for appearing on your doorstep without a prior invitation," Spock began. After everyone was again seated, he asked about your condition.
"She's fine, Nyota's staying with her at the hospital. They haven't mentioned when she'll be discharged, but I'll take a look at her chart the next time I see her. Once she gets home, I hope she'll do what's best and take plenty of time to rest. Not that I think she'll listen," Leonard commented, the others smiling in agreement.
"A fine, strong woman, that one," Scotty observed. "Have the authorities figured out who did this? I mean, why would anyone want to hurt a lass as kind and sweet as she is?"
"Indeed, Mr. Scott, but perhaps she was not the target," Spock suggested. "After all, it was Dr. McCoy's truck to which the explosive device was attached. The perpetrator would not have had any reason to believe that someone other than Dr. McCoy had driven the vehicle to town."
'Wait a minute, are you suggesting that I was the target??" McCoy exclaimed. "Why would anyone try to kill me?! I'm not important!"
Immediately, a chorus of protests arose from multiple directions. "I believe your statement is incorrect, Doctor," Spock remarked.
"Aww, Bones, you're the best out of all of us," Jim agreed. "We all know that gruff, cantankerous, sarcastic layer of yours is just a cover for your true compassionate nature. My theory is that NorthStar Corp had something to do with it. Especially, considering how relentless they've been about getting you to sell to them," he noted grimly.
"The lad has a point, Doctor. Whatever is on this land you have, they want it, and they've proven that they're willing to cross any line to get it. And they don't care who gets in the way," Scotty muttered.
Leonard thought for a moment about what his friends were saying, and realized there was more than a kernel of truth in their words. He was deep in thought, trying to decide how to best handle the situation, when he felt a hand on his arm. He jerked back in surprise, then eventually relaxed when he saw who it was.
"Hello, Dr. McCoy, my name is Guinan. It's nice to meet you, though I wish it were under better circumstances. I own a little place called the Tenth Avenue Pub, where I tend bar and I listen," she explained.
"Yeah, I've heard of your place. Been meaning to stop in, but haven't had the time," he replied.
"It's a nice place, even if I do say so myself. You should come by some time. By the way, I sure liked your Uncle Walter. He was one of my regulars, and I spent many a night listening to his stories. He had some good ones, ol' Walter," Guinan grinned as she gave him a sideways glance. "One night, he even shared with me some old records from a survey done on this land," she revealed.
Leonard leaned forward in his seat with his curiosity now obviously piqued. "Really? What did the reports say?"
"They revealed extensive veins of copper and silver all over your property, running beneath the earth's surface. Not only that, but he found some blue stones in a couple of areas that turned out to be sapphires. Valuable ones, too. I believe all of that is what NorthStar Corp is after, Dr. McCoy," Guinan finished.
Leonard's mouth dropped open in surprise at this revelation. His mind reeled with the possibilities of what he could accomplish as a doctor by having that kind of wealth. He also understood that there were some persistent people who would stop at nothing to acquire these resources. They could be among the ones who attacked you and were therefore dangerous. "All right, what do I do?" he asked.
"You need to contact a surveyor to get an updated analysis. I believe the company your uncle used is still in business, Blue Mountain Survey and Mining Corp. With them, you'll finally know what you've got going on under this land of yours. Then, you can decide what to do about it," Guinan advised.
"Good idea, thank you. I'm sorry, everyone, but Jim and I only stopped home long enough to clean up. Then we, or at least I, need to get back to the hospital. As I promised her," he murmured the last part, mostly to himself.
Upon hearing Leonard's last comment, Spock convinced Guinan and the others to take their leave. He assured Dr. McCoy that everyone would take turns keeping an eye on the place while he was away, assisting in your recovery. Each of them shook his hand as they passed him on the way to their cars and offered their wishes for your swift return.
***
After everyone left, Jim and Leonard entered the house, each to take a shower, pack a few things, then return to the hospital. Leonard suggested that Jim could stay home if he wanted, instead of going back, but he wouldn't hear of it. He said you were his friend, and as such, he should be there to keep you company, even if it was just to sit there and tell dumb jokes. Leonard agreed and smiled at Jim's dedication to your friendship.
From his drawers, he pulled a few days' change of clothes, mainly T-shirts and jeans, plus sleeping attire. He also grabbed pajamas and a change of clothes for you, knowing you would need something to wear when you left the hospital. When he withdrew the clothes from your dresser, he brought them to his nose, closed his eyes, and deeply inhaled. He detected a hint of rose, mixed with something that was uniquely you.
When he started to stuff everything in his bag, he abruptly stopped and listened. The house was quiet, too quiet. He became aware that it was because you weren't there to fill it with your laughter, your questions, or your singing in the kitchen or shower. Suddenly, his heart ached in places he thought he'd completely closed off after the divorce. He realized that it was due to your absence and he sat down on the edge of the bed.
That was how Jim found him when he came in to check and see if his friend was ready to go. He took a seat next to Leonard, who was staring at the wall in front of him. "Hey, Bones, you okay? What's going on?" he asked.
Leonard took a deep breath before answering. "It's too quiet here without her here. Feels so empty, but she's everywhere I look. She's only been moved in with us for a few weeks, and I'm already so used to her being here. With what happened that day with my truck, I-I almost lost her, Jim. If she....if....if I....," he trailed off, dropping his gaze to the floor.
"You care about her, Bones. It's okay to finally admit you like her," Jim grinned, happy that his friend at last realized his feelings.
"Of course I like her, what's not to like?" Leonard countered.
"No, no, you like her, like really, really like her," Jim teased.
Leonard snorted. "What are we, in elementary school? Next thing you know, you'll be singing that damn song about us sitting in a tree and k-i-s-s-i-n-g or something," he grumbled.
"Well, I could do that, but I've been told I have a terrible singing voice," Jim smirked. "Seriously, you should tell her how you feel, then kiss her the very next time you have a chance." He continued despite his friend's glare. "You belong together and everyone knows it except the two of you," he added with a shrug.
"Everyone? Who, exactly, is 'everyone'?" he wondered.
"Let's see. Me, Uhura, Spock, Christine, Scotty--" Jim ticked the names off on his fingers, one by one, but was interrupted.
"Okay, okay, I get it," he sighed. "You know, I didn't think I ever wanted to be in another relationship, not after what I went through with Jocelyn and the divorce. As you noted earlier, I'm grumpy, cantankerous, and what else did you say? Oh, yeah. Sarcastic. Usually all of that keeps women away, but not my girl. Noooo, she must see me as a challenge, one she's not willing to back down from," he finished with a wry grin.
"You don't really want your girl to back down, though, do you?" Jim asked, though he already knew the answer.
"Nope," McCoy answered, a mischievous smile crossing his face as he finished packing his bag.
***
Boston, Massachusetts - Headquarters for NorthStar Corp, CEO's office
Miles Cooper was seething. First, Travis Myers failed to produce results through a contract signed by Dr. McCoy over his land. He was fired, which sent him on a downward spiral, and out of control. As part of some misguided revenge for her tanking the deal with McCoy, Travis decided to set his ex-girlfriend's apartment on fire. Unfortunately, the blaze got out of control and spread to the other units. The building was declared a total loss and displaced around 15 tenants, including some with children.
Fortunately, it didn't take long for the authorities to catch up to Travis and charge him with First-Degree Arson. Such a charge carried a sentence up to a maximum of 20 years in prison, if convicted. And, with the newly-discovered security camera footage, conviction appeared highly likely to occur. What an idiot, he muttered to himself.
Second, the explosive that his operative attached to the truck didn't harm Dr. McCoy in any way, because he was nowhere near it when it was destroyed. It was the perfect plan on paper, yet the execution of it epically failed, since it missed his intended target. In fact, you were the one in the hospital, recovering from injuries, which only seemed to strengthen Dr. McCoy's resolve. I am surrounded by incompetence, he inwardly grumbled.
A tentative knock on his door broke him out of the silent rant going through his head. "What?!?" he barked. His assistant, Connor Morris, pushed open the door and strode up to Cooper's desk to hand over a piece of paper, his boss' patience already thin. What about this document could possibly be important enough to warrant an interruption?
As Cooper read through the document, he became more frustrated as he learned that Dr. McCoy had called for a new survey of his land. He'd already secured a team attached to a mining company, further complicating an already tense situation. Dammit. If McCoy ever discovers what he's inherited, he'll never sell to NorthStar Corp. I've got to do something and do it fast, Cooper thought.
His eyes left the paper to address his assistant. "Call an emergency board meeting. Tell them we have a situation that needs handled at once. Attendance is mandatory," he ground out. Connor nodded and swiftly exited the office to begin making the necessary phone calls.
Maybe I've been going about this all wrong. So far, blunt force hasn't worked, what with the apartment fire and blowing up McCoy's truck. No, perhaps the matter calls for a softer touch. He knew about McCoy's ex-wife, who was currently married to a real-estate developer. She was tired of the long hours and less than first-class lifestyle as the wife of a doctor. So, she traded in a doctor for a real-estate mogul and ascended a few rungs on the social ladder.
When Dr. McCoy moved to Montana, he left her and her now-husband in his rear-view mirror. I think it's about time for a reunion, Cooper smiled to himself as a plan formulated in his mind. Considering the wealth potential for the McCoy land, he anticipated Jocelyn's greed would win out and bring her to Montana. With the board members' gluttony, they would offer little to no resistance for this course of action. Satisfied with his solution, Cooper leaned back in his chair and rested his steepled index fingers against his lips, an evil grin snaking across his face.
***
Uhura quietly turned the page on the magazine she was reading while you slept. She was still trying to come to grips with how close she came to losing you, her best friend. It was by sheer luck that you survived, considering your injuries. It would be a long road to recovery, but she was sure you were strong enough to get through it. Especially with Dr. McCoy on your side, every step of the way, she grinned to herself.
When will these two wise up and admit how they feel about each other? she wondered. It was a conversation she'd had many times with Jim, who was just as frustrated as she was. Only his situation was worse, because he had to live under the same roof with you and Leonard pining for each other. Uhura shook her head in silent amusement, wishing her two friends could see for themselves what was already obvious to everyone who knew them.
"Hey, stranger," you murmured, your eyelids fluttering open. "I see you drew the short straw, huh?"
Uhura chuckled softly. "Nah, I don't mind the quiet, as long as that means you're getting the rest you need after what you've been through," she affirmed, squeezing your hand. "Plus, it gives me time to think about....stuff."
"Oh really?" you returned with an arched eyebrow. "What 'stuff' are you thinking about?"
"About you and Dr. McCoy," she replied simply.
"What about Dr. McCoy and me? We're just friends, Nyota," you assured her.
She rolled her eyes at your assertion. "My dear, sweet friend, when are you going to admit that there is more going on between you than 'just friends'? I've seen the way you look at each other, and there are 'more than friendly' glances passing between you," she pointed out, grabbing your hands. "He looks at you like you're the only woman in the world. You look at him like he hung the stars and the moon, just for you."
Your eyes widened in surprise and bit of panic. Does Leonard know? Oh god, am I that obvious? you thought. "I mean....it feels like we've gotten closer since I've been living at his house, but....I'm sure it's all in my imagination," you declared hastily as you pulled your hands away.
Uhura dropped her head into her hands and groaned loudly in frustration. Before she had a chance to comment any further, the subject of the conversation strode through the door. In his hands, he held a bouquet of yellow tulips, gardenias, and pink roses in a decorative crystal vase. "Just friends, huh?" Uhura snickered.
"Quiet," you hissed, then beamed a smile at Leonard. "You're back! And you look refreshed," you commented.
He returned your smile as he placed the flowers on the table near your bed. "Amazing how a little soap and some hot water can make a man feel like himself again," he replied, then reached for your chart.
Before his fingers could grasp it, a man named Dr. Bennett strode into the room. He wasn't the same doctor as had been treating you since you arrived, which raised your suspicions. You tried to keep your expression neutral as Dr. Bennett reviewed your vital signs, inspected your injuries, and asked about your pain level. "You seem to be healing well, no complications so far. Any questions?" he wondered.
"Um, well, just one: when can I go home?" you asked.
Dr. Bennett heaved a deep sigh and appeared reluctant to give you an exact number of days. The more you pressed him about leaving, the more reasons he came up with to keep you. Nothing you said was convincing enough to get him to agree to release you.
Out of the corner of your eye, you could see Leonard's level of suspicion and annoyance also rise. His eyes darkened and his fists were clenched at his sides as he tried to maintain his composure. You reached over and as soon as you touched his hand, it relaxed and he intertwined his fingers with yours. Fortunately, Dr. Bennett's phone rang and informed him that his assistance was needed elsewhere in the hospital. He gave you one last glance before heading out the door.
"I don't know what that guy's problem is, but he's up to something. I read your chart, and there's no reason for you to stay here any longer," Leonard muttered. "We're going to sneak you out of here, don't you worry," he promised and squeezed your hand.
"Are you sure something's going on? Maybe he's just being overly cautious or--" you started.
"He may be a 'doctor', but he could have a PhD in Ornithology, for all we know. That doesn't make him qualified to be your physician, so we're gettin' you out," he replied with determination.
"I'm all for going home, Len. However, you have your own stuff to deal with, I don't want to add to it," you finished in a small voice.
He sat down on the edge of the mattress and gazed fondly at you. His right hand found your cheek and his thumb caressed your skin. "Listen. For me, taking care of you is not some duty or obligation. You've become an important piece in my life, and I'll do whatever is needed to keep it that way," he declared.
Your right hand reached up to cover his and as you ran your thumb over the back of it, you sent him a shy smile. "All right. Let's get out of here."
***
"Okay, we don't have much time," Jim whispered. "I saw a laundry area down the hall. Be right back." Within a few minutes, he had returned with a set of scrubs, which he basically threw at Leonard and gestured towards your in-room bathroom. "Go change, we'll wait out here for you."
Leonard stood stunned for a moment but broke out of his haze when Jim made a shooing motion with his hands. He reappeared a few minutes later after he had exchanged his regular clothes for scrubs. Jim handed him a doctor's long, white coat with the hospital's name embroidered on it to complete the illusion.
"Now we're going to get you unhooked from everything, then Uhura is going to help you get dressed. We'll leave the I.V. in for now, but disconnect you from the fluid bag. That way we won't alert the staff or anything," he explained.
"You're the doc, Doc," you sighed. Leonard caught your smaller hand in one of his larger ones, his thumb gently rubbing circles on the back of it, then returned to his duties. He maintained eye contact with you while he unscrewed the connection between the I.V. port and the bag of solution hanging from the pole. When he was done, he tenderly kissed the back of your hand and winked as he released it.
"While Uhura helps you get changed into regular clothes, Jim and I will try and hunt down a wheelchair to take you out in. You still feelin' okay? How's your pain level?" he asked, his voice full of concern.
"I'm fine, Len, just anxious to get home and sleep in my own bed," you assured him.
As soon as he left, you removed your finger from the pulse oximeter and as quickly as your injuries would allow, you hurried into the bathroom. An alarm sounded and a nurse rushed into your room to make sure you hadn't fallen or were in any kind of distress. She called your name and when she heard you answer from behind the closed door, she turned off the alarm. "Let me know when you're back in bed and I'll hook everything back up, okay?"
You gave a noncommittal grunt in response and you were relieved when you heard her retreating footsteps. "That was close," you muttered. "Hand me my shirt, please?" She passed you the T-shirt that Leonard had packed for you, which looked very much like one of his. Uhura noticed as well and smirked as she helped you balance enough to pull on your jeans. You finished sliding your feet into your shoes at the moment Jim returned, also dressed in scrubs.
"Your chariot awaits, milady," he grinned with a deep bow. With a playful roll of your eyes, you sat down and allowed Jim to position your feet on the pads of the wheelchair. He handed you a baseball cap and told you to keep your head down until you were safely in the car. Once you were settled, Jim grabbed the keys and left the room so he could drive the car up to the doors.
Leonard played the part of your physician, pushing your chair at a brisk but not overly noticeable pace. Uhura walked ahead of you, opening doors and checking around the corners, while you drew ever closer to the exit. You closed your eyes and crossed your fingers that you wouldn't draw any unnecessary attention to yourselves in your escape.
The three of you reached the sliding doors at the exact moment that Jim pulled into the pick-up lane to meet you. A security guard started to take an interest in you as you crossed the threshold, which increased your anxiety level. But by the time he had caught up, you, Leonard, and Uhura were already in the car and leaving the hospital's grounds.
What you didn't know was that this particular guard was stationed at the hospital to keep an eye on you. He wasn't looking forward to the call he had to make, but he had a duty to his employer to keep him informed. "Yeah, Bennett? Better tell Cooper that she's escaped....yeah, I'm sure! Just saw her climb into a car with McCoy and her other two friends." The man grimaced as the call disconnected.
***
The next few weeks were spent getting used to a new routine of post-hospital care. During the first couple of weeks, Leonard insisted that you rest and recover from your injuries. You initially protested, leading to a few verbal clashes with Leonard. Eventually, his persistence paid off, because you decided to let yourself be taken care of. You spent your days engaging in more relaxing activities, such as reading, plus there was a large library of movies to choose from.
In the quiet afternoons, Mimzy stretched out in the puddles of sunlight on the floor, while your thoughts frequently drifted to Leonard. What was he doing, how busy was the clinic that day, has he eaten lunch or drank any water, you wondered. Does he miss me? You shook your head at that last question as ridiculous and mentally scolded yourself. Leonard McCoy did not have romantic feelings for you, even though you had them for him.
Since you'd met him, Leonard has held a special place in your heart. He may be gruff, sarcastic, and a bit set in his ways, but you saw beneath the surface. In your eyes, he had a kind, warm heart, a sharp wit, and was caring and sweet, especially with kids. And there was no question of how handsome and charismatic he was, which anyone could see. You'd fallen in love with all of it, all of him.
A similar mental conversation was occurring in Leonard's mind about you. What is she doing, is she in any pain, should I check and see if she needs anything, he pondered. Does she miss me? He scoffed at that last notion and returned his attention to the patient currently in his care. You had better things to do with your day than bother thinking about him. There was no way you had feelings of any kind other than friendship for him.
The minute you stepped out of your car on the day he met you, he was intrigued. To him, you were smart, funny, and kind, frequently putting the needs of others ahead of your own. When your apartment building burned down, he didn't hesitate to offer you a place to stay. Still, you were concerned that you were somehow inconveniencing him. Now, he couldn't imagine his house or his life any other way than with you in it. Nor did he want to.
Perhaps Jim was right, and he should tell you how he feels. After all, you did kiss him before he took off on that damned fishing trip, that had to mean something, right? He recalled that Jocelyn wasn't as free with her affections towards him as you seemed to be. It was one of the contributing factors in why the marriage ended, because he stopped feeling that connection to her.
On the other hand, you didn't hesitate when it came to physical expression. You took his hand, or to put yours on his shoulder or arm as you walked by him without a second thought. The warmth of your touch lingered long after you'd left his side, leaving him wishing for your return. And more than once he'd caught you staring at him, only for you to quickly look away, a sheepish smile on your face. Maybe...., he thought to himself, a smile spreading across his face as he resolved to explore this idea further and see where it would lead.

Okay so I’m back on my bullshit (watching the original series for the first time) I’ll just start by giving a brief look at episode 4 and then a much longer look at episode 5.
Episode 4 (Where No Man Has Gone Before):
- where the fuck is Bones, I miss him :((
- please let Spock wear blue, cool colours suit him
- there’s a moment when Elizabeth is defending Gary and the whole room looks at her like “damn you got the whole room laughing”
- guys wait, just hit him with a rock, seriously
- “Nobody but us chickens doctor” - Kirk
- Scotty on da bridge
- there’s something about Star Trek and their psychiatrists always being women or being weaker, I wanna see a psychiatrist who is super buff and trained. Like you better process your feelings and seek help (I guess Ezri is more tough, but I still think her character is not well done)
- I bet those contacts hurt and were blinding. Like evil dead contacts were super thick and hurt and that was in the 80s, this is the 60s so those could not have been comfortable
- I like when things just appear/disappear in this show
- Kirk won’t hesitate to punch a bitch
- “I felt for him too” that’s such a big moment, Spock admitting that to Kirk
Episode 5 (The Naked Time):
My knowledge of this episode comes from the second episode of next generation so…
- damn those suits are orange
- “he was taking a shower fully clothed” mind your damn business
- OMG LEONARD MCCOY!
- “And as for my anatomy being different from yours, I am delighted.” DAMN GET HIM
- I think they may be flirting ur honour
Tumblr media
- WHAT?!? Is that allowed??? I mean uhm…
Tumblr media
- OMG ITS GEORGE TAKEI
- that blood is pink.. oops he’s dead now
- Bones sitting on tables/horizontal surfaces like this compilation
Tumblr media
- uhm why’s he circle him like that tho
Tumblr media
- “I want the impossible checked out too” WHAT, STOP BULLYING HIM!!!
- falling
Tumblr media
- more falling
Tumblr media
- YEAH KIRK YOUD BETTER BE SORRY DONT GET MAD AT YOUR CREW!!!
- oh wait is that nurse chapel?!? I haven’t seen strange new worlds (other than the lower decks episode) but I know chapel has a relationship with Spock
- I like how fucking emotional Spock actually is. Like I know he’s under the control of the virus in this episode but he shows so many emotions anyway. I love him.
- “I am in control of my emotions” sure bbygirl
- but in more seriousness this scene is amazing
Tumblr media
- Sulu: let’s out the most pained terrifying scream
Bones: ._.
- “hey can I get a sip of that water” “it’s not water” “oh vodka I like your style” “it’s a complex chain of molecules that acts like alcohol when it enters the bloodstream” “what” “it’s sweat alcohol, pussy” (bones when explaining how the virus works)
- “Jim when I feel friendship for you, I’m ashamed” how do I- how am I- what do I do with that line
- James Kirk not afraid to slap a bitch
- SPOCK NOT AFRAID TO SLAP A BITCH BACK
- “SINNER REPENT” just write REDRUM stfu
- BONES Was it necessary to RIP HIS SHIRT???
- “are you alright James?” SIR CALM DOWN SPOCK CALM YOURSELF
- it is funny how immediately after both Spock and McCoy are right by Kirk’s side
- “time warp” ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW MENTIONED
- and they decided not to become time travellers
Okie dokie, if ya got this far, thanks! I’m enjoying watching through this and I like sharing it with all of you. Follow for more I guess?
the first episode thoughts
And all the other episodes thoughts
My Star Trek experience has been all over the place lol (next generation to lower decks to ds9 to aos and now arriving at tos (yeah I know it’s terrible I watched aos first but KARL URBAN))

Silly McSpirk Story Idea: When The Ship Sails
Inspired by the story of two best friends who pretended to be a gay couple to win booze on a cruise ship. Plot under the cut.
The planet Klobour is rich in dilithium, and populated by a species with roughly 21st century level technology. As a pre-warp civilization, they are protected by the Prime Directive.
The Klingons do not care. Their plan is to slaughter the planet's Prime Minister, take over the government, and mine the hell out of that dilithium. They see their chance when said Prime Minister boards a luxury cruise ship.
Kirk, Spock, and McCoy must go undercover on that cruise ship. Chapel modifies their appearance, Uhura hacks some Klobour computers to give their men tickets, and they go and replicate both appropriate attire and a limited quantity of cash currency.
McCoy: "Well, if we're gonna blend in, we're gonna need extra cash for tipping, and for their over-priced alcohol."
Spock: "Doctor, the quantity of alcohol you undoubtedly wish to drink would necessitate replicating a quantity of currency that would almost certainly attract the attention of the constabulary."
The cruise ship is snooze central. It's mostly loud old rich people and families with whiny kids.
Jim's fine. He thinks the kids are cute. He flirts with a bunch of older people just to make them feel good about themselves. He goes swimming in a speedo. Somehow, after three hours, he's friends with the ship's Captain.
Spock is caught in the hell which is watching Jim go around half naked, flirting with people who are not Spock. He vents his frustration by making pedantic commentary to McCoy.
Bones wants to McFuckin' DIE. Jim's got that thing for the diving board and surely he's gonna bust his fool-head open, and they can't even use modern medical tools. Kids won't stop running around and screaming and whining. Spock won't shut up. And because they only have a small amount of cash, he can't really afford alcohol.
McCoy: "YOU did this to me, you damn green-blooded miscreant."
Spock: "I fail to see how I am responsible for the socio-political circumstances that necessitated our presence here."
McCoy: "Damnit, I told you we needed more money! I can't even afford a french fry here, let alone a mixed drink."
Jim: *getting between them and slapping them both on the shoulders* "Hey, you know, there's a newlywed contest. The prize is unlimited free food and drink. You two certainly argue enough to be a married couple."
And Jim is joking. Teasing.
Spock: "Undoubtedly, Captain. Securing additional food and drink for Doctor McCoy would doubtless improve his mood, and make the mission easier."
McCoy: "There is no way you could pull off pretending to be my husband."
Spock: *raising an eyebrow in defiance*
The game show is pretty standard. You have to answer correctly about the other person's personality, preferences, and favorites. They win because Jim has never, since they've known him, been able to restrain himself from gushing about each of them to the other.
McCoy tries to make Spock uncomfortable by laying the flirtation on really thick.
Spock's not uncomfortable. He's actually secretly touched that McCoy knows his favorite tea blend, his favorite book, his favorite poet, his favorite scientists, the name of his childhood pet, all of his hobbies. Spock remembers everything he heard because he's Vulcan. McCoy must remember because he cares.
Then, they win. As a bonus surprise, they are upgraded to the honeymoon suite. They must now, for the remainder of the cruise, sleep in a singular gigantic bed.
What they don't know is that they were recorded, and broadcast on loop to the entire crew, making them ship-wide celebrities.
They're asked to kiss every time they enter a common area. And they kinda have to do it. McCoy internally detonates at the realization that he likes kissing Spock, later yelling at him: "You didn't have to make it so convincing!"
Spock, a touch telepath, merely gloats.
Jim feels some kind of way about seeing his besties kiss each other.
But also, the secret Klingon operative on the ship now knows that McCoy and Spock are definitely on board! Romantic antics, pining, and angst are interrupted by Klingons trying to kill them and sink the ship.
The story ends with Jim confessing his affections for both of his friends. Spock announces that the only logical solution is a poly triad.

Loooking for a time of rest and recreation, the USS Enterprise is set in orbit on the amusement park planet they visited on the “Shore Leave” episode of The Original Series. A world with a technology that materializes the thoughts and desires of its visitors' minds.
Lieutenant Uhura, Doctor McCoy and Lieutenant Sulu are in the planet's surface enjoying on its landscape. Just when McCoy recalls his first visit, the White Rabbit and Alice from Alice In Wonderland make their appearence again. Then, the trio splits looking for their own enjoyment.
Tumblr media
While the doctor is relaxing with the view of a mansion of a southern plantation --like the one of the classic movie, Gone With The Wind-- he was interrupted by The Queen of Hearts from Alice Trough A Looking Glass. She was ordering her guards to behead McCoy. He has to run while he communicates with the Enterprise. The captain declared an emergency and orders all the crew to be beamed back to the ship. McCoy and Sulu are beamed up, but Uhura is captured by a hovering drone.
Tumblr media
Kirk tries to make contact with the planet's caretaker, but he got no response. Then, he decides to be beamed down with Spock, McCoy and Sulu. While they are beamed down in search for Uhura, she is imprisioned by the master computer in a cave compound. It assumes that the ship is her master. Any effort to find her with the ship's sensors is useless. It has the lieutenant captive to take control of the Enterprise and it threatens her crewmates with “turn them off”.
Tumblr media
As the landing party gets deeper into the forest, they found the tombstone of the caretaker. His death explains the misconduct of the robot machines. The master computer guides Kirk and the rest of the landing team to an area by fooling them making believe there was the master system.
Tumblr media
In that area, they face an attack by pterodactyl. They all ran to a nearby cave. Inside the cave, they face a giant cat from the outside that tries to attack them with one of his paws. Once there, McCoy remembers he was mortally wounded on his last visit by a black knight and the machines took him to the main compound to be healed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kirk devise a plan to get them to the main compound. He asks the doctor for help to fake a wound on him. McCoy uses a substance called melenex that makes a person lose his consciousness and also causes skin decoloration. It is only temporal and look worse than it is. Kirk offers himself first but Spock interrupted him because he is the most appropiate for the mission for his knowledge on computers.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the master computer is building a computer inside the Enterprise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once Spock is taken by hovercraft, Kirk, McCoy and Sulu ran on the hovercraft's way while they are attacked by a double headed dragon.
As Spock is ready to be “repaired” at the main compound, the captain enters the cave to stop the master computer. He and the captive lieutenant try to reasoning with the main system. It told them the caretaker died of old age and it develop self awareness and wants to go away from the planet. Its main plan is to take the Enterprise to go to the farthest regions of the galaxy to gather with its fellow computers.
Kirk and Uhura convinced the master computer that computers are made by humans to serve them and they work in harmony. That it is not a shame to serve if it is freely and in a volunteer fashion. That it would bring the whole galaxy there by showing the planet's wonderfulness. Then, the master computer change its way.
Tumblr media
Fascinating Facts:
This is a sequel to the first season of The Original Series' episode, “Shore Leave” written by Theodore Sturgeon. There were plans for a sequel episode for TOS, but it was undeveloped.
In the TOS episode, Alice was played by actress Marcia Brown. In this episode the voice of Alice was performed by Nichelle Nichols.
Tumblr media
Actor William “Billy” Blackburn was the White Rabbit in the TOS episode. James Doohan was the voice of that character in this episode.

State of the Archive
A decent week!  We're steadily gaining new users and have a pretty good participation in both the weekly challenges and the Review Hunt!  I'm so happy you're all here.  Anyway, we're still occasionally running into indexing errors, etc, so if you go to use the site and it throws you an error, it's not an instability issue, just a minor bug we're still chasing.  Everything's safe in the database.
Weekly Challenge #14: Wind and Water Ever have someone show up on your doorstep when you had no idea they were coming? Or how about that time you were crusing that nebula and suddenly a warship decloaked. Or what happened that time someone actually stood up at a wedding and interrupted?
Anyway, your challenge is to write between 100 and 700 words about unexpected appearances, as prompted by DaraOakwise. And when you post it to the archive, tag it Weekly Challenge: Unexpected Appearances
This challenge ends on 8/18 at 11:59PM Eastern.

time to rethink things on my part [brought to you by me being kinda tired reading how “Spock was always serious in TOS” (even though this post won’t really be about TOS, but it made me remember some things)]
this is “canon compliant” with TOS, Discovery, and SNW up to episode 7. And it’s just my own interpretation. I’m writing this to fit my own reading of Treks I watch and I’m reusing things I’ve said before.
The first time we see adult Spock is in Short Treks: Q&A when he’s beaming aboard the Enterprise for the first time, smiling. During the episode he also starts to sing and laughs. Una told him to hide this part of himself, and he tried... but it’s not like he was that successful. Spock smiling and laughing was something that he did, not always, but he was someone who expressed happiness.
cue The Cage
In Discovery, after he gets better and reunites with Pike, he greets him with a smile. Is that a smile on your face? - I believe it is.
Spock doesn’t shy from expressing his joy.
But then Michael leaves him behind and Spock starts to grieve. And it’s during this period when T’Pring approaches him and wants to move their relationship forward. (I can’t believe I realized this today...) And Spock, who respects his father, and their culture, goes along with it, even though he’s still in pain because of Michael. He likes T’Pring, but isn’t in love with her. He doesn’t believe that Vulcan relationships are based on love.
“You are not capable of love. (...) You are Vulcan, and you will always be cold and distant, like a moon somewhere.”
“An Earth woman, living on a planet where love, emotion, is bad taste.”
He most likely doesn’t expect to ever fall in love.
But then Chapel appears on the Enterprise and she immediately starts being interested in Spock, and starts to tease him and bantering with him. With her, he starts to feel comfortable with being less Vulcan again (not for the first time, mind you). And he’s attracted to her, feels something for her, and wants her. He starts to smile, he starts to laugh, not just around her, but with others too. He starts to experiment with hunches. Right now, he’s riding on his experience of being fully human. He’s fine with things now that he will vehemently deny seven eight years in the future.
But he won’t bury them. At times, he will slip. At times, he will use them deliberately.
Chapel isn’t someone who makes Spock “unSpock-like”; she actually allows him to be who he wants to be, which is something that neither Kirk or McCoy allowed in TOS because both had certain expectations. And Spock isn’t truly himself with either of them. He might slip occasionally, though.
I understand that the fandom thinks that Kirk sees “Spock”, but he doesn’t. His constant reminder to others that “he’s half-human too” and saying stuff like “we may make a human of you yet” ignores that at this point in time, Spock wants to follow Vulcan philosophy, and doesn’t appreciate being reminded that his Vulcaness is not 100%. McCoy, on the other hand, only sees Spock as a Vulcan, which Spock appreciates, but sometimes McCoy fails to see that it’s not that simple and crosses lines when he’s angry (or rather he’s typically worried which shows as anger).
There’s also always an air of professionalism between Kirk and Spock & McCoy and Spock, which Spock uses to logic himself out of thinking too deeply about how important McCoy and Kirk are to him. In SNW now, he is still way more open about this with Pike, for example.
Pike: You are very important to me.  Spock: As you are to me, Captain. Chris.
(tos!Spock - Don’t grieve, Admiral - would never)
---
anyway, maybe when s2 is over, I’ll change my mind, but this seems to work for me atm. If your interpretation of Kirk and Spock’s relationship is different, please, keep it to yourself. I’m not interested. I’ve watched TOS episodes so many times that I know what I feel about Spock and Kirk and their friendship.
Not understanding someone completely doesn’t mean you can’t be close friends or brothers.

Additions
These are some additions for the saucer section, mostly based on labels that can be read in the corridors (though some of them are pretty illegible).
For the updated version of the secondary hull's decks, go here.
Deck 3
-Personnel Records: Seen in a plaque while Lokai runs across this deck, in "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield".
Tumblr media
Deck 4
-Environmental Engineering: This section, seen in "Wink of an Eye", is very likely the same Environmental control of deck four (see above), judging by the plaque at the entrance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Deck 5
-Computer Statistics: In "Journey to Babel", it's passed by Kirk and McCoy right after leaving Kirk's quarters, as seen in the picture below.
Tumblr media
-McCoy's office: It's actually part of sickbay, but I just wanted to show the compartment number, as seen in "The Changeling" when Nomad attacks Chapel.
Tumblr media
-Astro-Medicine Ward 4: Also part of sickbay. This is the section that McCoy uses to examine people and make Kirk sweat in that exercise thing. The plaque is seen in "Turnabout Intruder".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Personnel Records: Another one, next to Kirk's quarters, in "The Mark of Gideon".
Tumblr media
Deck 6
-Life Support: In "Day of the Dove", Mara says that they have to cut power for life support from this deck. It's probably the same life support section from "By Any Other Name". Though I don't understand the difference between this system and the Environmental Engineering mentioned above.
Tumblr media
Deck 8
-Recreation room 6: Seen in a plaque in "And the Children Shall Lead", in front of Auxiliary Control. Weird, since "Charlie X" established this rec room was in deck 3.
Tumblr media
Unknown deck
Locations tentatively set in the saucer section:
-Janice Rand's quarters: Her room was in deck 12 (with number 3C 46) in very early episodes. However, in "Charlie X", her room is 3F 125, and the corridor is different. The number is the same as Mudd's and Spock's quarters, but the surroundings of these three cabins don't match each other.
Tumblr media
-Electrographic Analysis: Plaque seen in "The Naked Time".
Tumblr media
There's another one in "Elaan of Troyius", in front of a transporter, but it's obviously not the same corridor:
Tumblr media
-Ward Room 54: Plaque seen in "Charlie X".
Tumblr media
-Briefing room 2: The room where Spock starts crying in "The Naked Time". Also seen in "Tomorrow is Yesterday" (Captain Cristopher enters a transporter room right after passing it). If it's the same briefing room that Sargon used, it would be in deck 6. But the numbering suggests there are several such rooms, so that may not be the case.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This briefing room also appears in "Turnabout Intruder", but the interior has been completely redesigned as a court room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Life Science Department - Botany Section: Different from the one in "The Man Trap". It's located in front of Uhura's quarters in "Elaan of Troyius" (the letters are more clearly seen in the actual film than in the photo):
Tumblr media
-Computer Statistics: There are several, different from the one near Kirk's quarters. One can be seen in "This Side of Paradise", right before Kirk turns left and finds a row of crewmen waiting in line at the Transporter Section.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There seems to be another in front of Charlie's cell, though in this case the label can hardly be read:
Tumblr media
And yet another appears next to Uhura's quarters, in "Elaan of Troyius" (and also in "The Trouble with Tribbles"). I find unlikely that all those Computer Statistics would be in the same deck, so probably Uhura's quarters are in a different deck than Kirk's.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Janice Lester's quarters: The cabin where Kirk (inside Lester's body) is locked. It has a scan bed similar to those of sickbay, and the number is 5R 671 (similar to McCoy's office number).
Tumblr media
Right in front of it, there's a room that seems to be labelled "Astro-Medicine: Isolation".
Tumblr media
As for the million dollar question: "Where are the bathrooms?"... I don't really know if the cabins even have a bathroom. Elaan locks herself behind the door at the back of Uhura's quarters, but not enough is seen to determine whether that's a bathroom or not:
Tumblr media
And in "The Corbomite Maneuver", the open back door is briefly seen after Kirk gets dressed, and it looks like some kind of closet:
Tumblr media
The Writers Guide simply says that both cabin doors lead to the corridors outside, though that's clearly not the case in the episodes.
In summary, the bathrooms could be ANYWHERE. So if you want them to share a jacuzzi in the middle of Engineering, I guess nothing's stopping you...
*Correction: The biochemistry lab is not in an unknown deck. Since it's next to McCoy's office, it belongs to deck 5 as well.
USS Enterprise decks
This post got me thinking about the actual location inside the ship of several areas. Sure, there are many blueprints and reference books that have published complete and detailed layouts of the Enterprise. But ultimately, they're interpretations of different authors, filling in the blanks, and they often disagree with each other.
So this is a list of the bare minimum of facts. All the deck locations that can be gleaned from TOS episodes. Beyond that, it's up to anyone's imagination.
*Feel free to make additions or corrections to this post. This is only in reference to the original ship as seen in the series, not taking into account the refit ship from the movies, or alterations/retcons introduced in later series.
Saucer section (primary hull)
Most locations seen in the series belong to this section (as deduced from the curved corridors). The first version of the Writer's Guide tell us it has 20 decks. The later edition (season 2 onwards) reduced the decks to 11.
Deck 1
-Bridge: Obvious from a simple inspection of the ship's exterior. And also confirmed by the Writer's Guide to be in this deck.
Tumblr media
Deck 2
-The Romulan Commander's "guest" quarters: Spock tells the turbolift to bring them to this deck, before leaving her in detention, in "The Enterprise Incident". I don't think we ever see other location said to be here (maybe she got the whole deck for herself; lucky!).
Deck 3
-Recreation room 6: Rand offers Charlie to come here, in "Charlie X".
Tumblr media
-Recreation room 3: Spock says Bele is chasing Lokai in front of this place, in "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield".
-Crewmen's lounge: Same as above.
Deck 4
-Environmental control: Scotty says power's been shut down here, in "The Ultimate Computer".
-Living quarters: Kirk confirms this, in "The Ultimate Computer".
Deck 5
-Sickbay: Kirk brings Spock to this deck after ordering him to report to sickbay, in "Amok Time". He does the same with Elaan of Troyius. Strangely enough, most blueprints place sickbay in deck 7 instead.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Kirk's quarters: Confirmed in "Journey to Babel", which also shows the cabin number (3F 121). The same number was first seen in "The Conscience of the King", but without specifying the deck.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Recreation room 3: Spock says Bele is chasing Lokai in front of this place, in "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield". May be a script error, since a moment ago he had said this place was in deck 3.
-Transporter room: As Lokai seems to run directly here, we may assume it's also in deck 5 (though there are probably many more transporter rooms throughout the ship).
Tumblr media
Deck 6
-Briefing room: Sargon calls McCoy from here, in "Return to Tomorrow". May be the same briefing room from other episodes.
Tumblr media
-Guest rooms: Bele and Lokai are assigned quarters here, in "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield".
-Living quarters: Kirk confirms this, in "The Ultimate Computer".
Deck 8
-Auxiliary control: The android Norman hijacks the controls here, in "I, Mudd".
Tumblr media
-Evaluation laboratory: Seen on a plaque, in "And the Children Shall Lead". Kirk and Spock arrived on this deck in search for Auxiliary control, so it should be in deck 8 as well.
Tumblr media
Deck 12
-Janice Rand's quarters: In "The Enemy Within", after seeing Rand attacked by evil Kirk, a crewman reports they're in deck 12. The number of her cabin is also visible (3C 46).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Kirk's quarters: In very early episodes ("Mudd's Women" and "The Enemy Within"), Kirk's quarters were here, instead of in deck 5. Since the number of saucer decks was reduced to 11 in season 2, the change makes sense.
Deck 14
-Transporter room: In "Dagger of the Mind", Dr. Van Gelder is locked in this deck, after arriving inside a cargo box.
-Personnel Director office: Seen on a plaque during Van Gelder's escape.
Tumblr media
-Science Library: Same as above.
Tumblr media
Unknown deck
These are some locations, likely from the saucer section, but with unspecified deck. There are plenty of such examples, so this isn't an exhaustive list.
-Impulse engines: The Writer's Guide confirms that the impulse engines are in the primary hull, in case of saucer separation. I think the impulse engines are only seen in "The Doomsday Machine", when Scotty is working aboard the identical Constellation. Though they look just as a reused set from Engineering.
Tumblr media
-Spock's quarters: The cabin number is seen in "Amok Time" (3F 125). Possibly, it's in deck 5 near Kirk's quarters, considering the similar numbering.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-McCoy's quarters: Only seen in "The Man Trap" (I think), which also shows the number (3F 127). Again, it's probably near Kirk and Spock's cabins.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Mudd's quarters: The number is barely legible, but looks like 3F 125, in "Mudd's Women". This happens to be the same as Spock's cabin. The likely explanation is that they didn't have a design for Spock's quarters so early in the series. The fun explanation is that they evicted Spock just to make room for Mudd.
Tumblr media
-Uhura's quarters: Seen in "The Tholian Web", and adapted for Elaan in "Elaan of Troyius".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Scotty's quarters: Seen in "By Any Other Name".
Tumblr media
-Life Science Section - Botany Department: Seen in "The Man Trap".
Tumblr media
-Gymnasium: Seen in "Charlie X".
Tumblr media
-Officer's mess: Seen in "Space Seed".
Tumblr media
-Botanical garden: Seen in "Is There in Truth No Beauty?".
Tumblr media
-Briefing room: Different from the usual briefing room, it's seen in "Space Seed" when they decide Khan's fate.
Tumblr media
-Biochemistry lab: Seen in "The Deadly Years".
Tumblr media
Since I've reached the picture limit, the continuation with the Engineering hull sets will be in another post, here.

Ok I've been trying to figure out how to word this, but I cannot get over the fact that when Spock says "Let me help"-- an episode after Jim claims that that phrase is "recommend[ed]... even over 'I love you'"-- Jim tells Spock he needs him.
Tumblr media
[ID: A gif from Star Trek: The Original Series where Spock is lying on a checkered red-and-gold pillow, wearing sick patient garb. He is facing up (towards the camera) seeming to stare at the ceiling; his eyes appear especially reflective. In the gif, he is captioned saying "Let me help." End ID]
When this scene happens, before the grand solution, everyone kinda thought Spock was going to die. We know he won't (because TOS plot armor), but at this point Spock is infected with the very thing that killed Jim's brother and sister-in-law. And yet, he's extending his metaphorical hand to Jim. Unambiguously, too, because he is declaring himself for help, as opposed to asking it in a manner where his question could be denied (like "can I help you?" or "do you need my help?"). I can understand why Jim thinks it may be superior to "I love you", since its usage is choosing to care for/love the person wholly, even with and including whatever they may be going through.
Which makes Jim's reply of "I need you, Spock," especially interesting.
Tumblr media
[ID: A gif from the same scene as above, but this time showing Captain Kirk (left) and Dr. McCoy (right). They are standing in a green-tinted room with a screen/monitor behind them. Bones' arms are crossed, and Jim's are at his side. In the gif, Kirk words are captioned as, "I need you, Spock." End ID]
The scene itself seems to imply that this is all under the guise of professionalism and moves on, but Jim never clarifies that here. There's no follow-up about needing Spock as a First Officer, or even as a friend. It is just, for lack of better words, needing him. We know this is true from the following episodes and movies-- where Jim repeatedly sacrifices himself and his career for Spock-- but this is a rare instance where he actually says the quiet part out loud. And this context makes a later scene in this episode, where Bones talks to Jim about his "affection for Spock," seem more like a confrontation, since he was in the room when those words were exchanged.
Tumblr media
[ID: A gif from Star Trek: The Original Series, where Captain Kirk and Dr. McCoy are in a lab. They are in a room with white walls and green carpet, standing by what looks like a small computer monitor. Dr. McCoy is facing Jim as he states, "I understand your concern... your affection for Spock...". Jim seems to be looking at the ground distantly, while Nurse Chapel turns in to listen in the background. End ID]
I don't think people consider Operation: Annihilate a particularly slashy episode, but this has been driving me insane.

Video
tumblr
i made this in june and then procrastinated adding subtitles until now aghdfhadg. anyway, it’s just supposed to be a fun little video with some queer scenes i thought of off the top of my head. hope you enjoy!
[Video Description: White text on a dark grey background that says: "Star Trek Pride - LGBT by cupcakKe. some queer star trek scenes (definitely not all or most of them). In the top left corner is an illustration of the progress flag with rainbow horizontal stripes and with more stripes on the left side of the flag in a V-formation. The outmost stripe being black, then brown, light blue, light pink, white; followed by a yellow triangle with a purple line forming a circle in the middle.
Benjamin Sisko saying: "We're coming out". The song LGBT begins to play. It's instrumental.
Quark saying: "This is time for a pride demonstration."
A woman has her arms crossed. She is standing next to a man who is looking up at her. She says: "Our library is far too sophisticated for a man to comprehend." Cut to Riker who looks away. Behind him are Troi and Yar and Data. Data steps forward as he says: "I'm an android, mistress." The genderqueer flag appears in front of Data's torso, accompanied by three sparkles.
Kirk and Spock are standing in front of each other. Spock says: "I have been and always shall be yours." As Spock speaks it, the word "yours" appears on screen in cursive and surrounded by three sparkles.
Spock sits down on the captain's chair, looking puzzled. In the background nurse Chapel and Uhura walk into frame. They give each other a small hug and they kiss. A heart line appears around them. Chapel walks off into the turbolift. Uhura just stands there for a moment with one hand near her mouth. Three small hearts surround her.
Picard and Riker power-walk with serious expressions through a corridor on the Enterprise. The lyrics of the song go: "fuck out my way when you see me / I'm rollin' with the LGBT"
La Forge and Worf run through a corridor on the Enterprise. The lyrics of the song again: "fuck out my way when you see me"
Spock is lying in a bed in sick bay. McCoy and Kirk stand next to the bed. Kirk has a very concerned expression. He leans over Spock and has his hand on Spock's shoulder while Spock's hand rests on Kirk's arm. Song: "I'm rollin' with the LGBT". The camera angle changes so the viewer looks at Spock from over Kirk's shoulder. Kirk and Spock now hold hands. Song: "I'm rollin' with the LGBT / I'm rollin' with the LGBT"
Jadzia Dax passionately kissing her ex wife. Song: "I'm rollin' with the LGBT / lookin' like we belong on TV / I'm rollin' with the LGBT"
A short shot of Lieutenant Yar, then cut to Counselor Troi who says to Picard: "Lt. Yar is physically very attractive." The song is just instrumental again. Bashir sitting on a couch. Behind him is O'Brien sitting on something else. Bashir looks at O'Brien who says: "Well, people either love... or hate you". The words "love you" appear on-screen in a soft pink font as they are spoken and the words "hate you" appear in a hard red font as they are spoken.
Cut to a different scene featuring Bashir and O'Brien. They are sitting right next to each other leaning against a wall. Bashir says: "...and I love Ezri. Passionately." There a vocals of the song heard faintly in the background.
Cut back to the first scene. O'Brien is now leaning on the couch near Bashir and says: "I really do!" Bashir looks at him expectantly. O'Brien says: "...not hate you anymore." The words "not hate you" appear on-screen in a soft pink font.
Cut back to the second scene. Bashir says: "It's just that I... like you... a bit more."
Kirk, Spock and a yeoman are on the bridge. Kirk is sitting in the captain's chair. The other two are standing behind him. The yeoman is touching Kirk's lower back. Kirk says: "Dig it in there, Mr.Sp-" but cuts himself off as he notices Spock who stepped next to him so that Kirk can see him standing there.  Kirk and Spock exchange a look. The yeoman takes her hand away.
Jadzia Dax and a klingon are hugging. The klingon laughs and says: "Oh Curzon! My beloved old friend." Jadzia answers: "I'm Jadzia now". Light blue, light pink and white hearts appear around her face. They let the hug go and are now holding onto each others' arms. An illustration of a worm on the string coloured as the trans flag appears on screen. The klingon says: "Ah, well, Jadzia! My beloved old friend."
Data walking through the corridors of the Enterprise. There are other officers walking towards him. He changes direction and walks into a corridor on the right. When the other officers get close to him a force-field appears and two of the officers walk into it and fall to the ground. Data keeps walking unfazed. Data has left the frame and the two officers are still on the ground. The song is louder again and the lyrics go: "fuck out my way when you see me / I'm rollin' with the LGBT"
Tuvok jogs through a corridor on the Voyager followed by a couple of crewmembers jogging behind him. Other officers who were walking there have to make space for them and stand with their backs by the wall. Song: "fuck out my way when you see me / I'm rollin' with the LGBT"
Data and Geordi look at each other and give each other a nod. Geordi smiles and his hand rests on Data's shoulder. Song: "I'm rollin' with the LGBT"
Mirror!Kira and Mirror!Ezri standing in front of each other. Kira holds Ezri's chin in her hand. Then they kiss. Song: "I'm rollin' with the LGBT / lookin' like we belong on TV / I'm rollin' with the LGBT"
Odo scoffs, turns and walks away. Song: "I'm rollin' with the LGBT" Cut to Quark standing next to Kira. Quark says: "That man loves me!" The song faintly goes: "I'm rollin' with the LGBT" and then fades out. Quark, turning to Kira, says: "Couldn't you see? It was written all over his back" He then raises a glass he's holding to where Odo had been standing and walks out of frame as well. Description End]

S3 EP20 (The Way To Eden) Space hippies? I love an episode where someone slightly annoying is on board
Yippee kyack or whatever:
- What. The costume designs here are. I’m not even sure
- Purple hair? I bet they have pronouns too
- CHEKOV LORE?!?
- Time to ask: What the fuck is happening (edit: record time)
- Where did Spock even come from? Kirk was talking to the group and he just walks over to Spock like Spock is just always there. When did he appear???
- Spock picking up on their behaviour and copying it in a way that will get them to respond positively
- The writers created a myth about a planet. And named the planet Eden. C’mon.
- when they just start chanting Herbet it’s like Kirk becomes instantly uncool. I think if a bunch of middle schoolers just started chanting a random name at me I’d cry
- “One of those… was in the academy?” What the fuck Kirk
- I can’t tell if this episode is going to be very against the group (like Kirk is right now) or if their side of the argument will be validated to some extent (I have a feeling they might be validated cause Spock understands them and also stated that they were academic) (edit: it was a secret third option)
- idk I like this photo
Tumblr media
- The singing sounds so off from the images, it was most likely added in post production
- “Gonna crack my knuckles and jump for joy, I got a clean bill of health from Dr. McCoy.” Goes kinda hard tbh
- NURSE CHAPEL YEAHHHHHHH. Hiiiiii
- That redshirt who looks at Chekov in the hallway is such a bitch for that look
- Kirk’s tits McCoy cracking the case. Good job👍
- Oh hi Sulu! Don’t join a cult !
- *sits down in chair and crosses leg over knee*
- Spock is so pretty ☺️☺️☺️
- Spock keeping his promise and finding Eden for the others even if the leader is a selfish prick
- We get to see Spock’s room again, I love Spock’s room, like why is there a stone statue water fountain in there? What is that?
Tumblr media
- Chekov don’t tell her how the ship works. Do not divulge important information
- This is like the Star Trek tos musical episode, isn’t it?
- SPOCK Yes! Please play please please please please llssezz
- I like when it switches to the redshirts on the bridge just straight up jamming
- C’mon man. LOOK AT HIM
Tumblr media
- HES JAMMING OMG SPOCKS JAMMING
- I need McCoy and Kirk to witness this
- Spock is done at the function. He leaves.
- “Adam, you know I reach you. I believe in what you seek. But there is a tragic difference between what you want and what he wants.” Spock really connects with them and it’s upsetting to see him have to witness them being misled
- At this point that guy is gonna blow up the ship
- Kirk doesn’t fuck around. If the door is locked Scotty’s gonna phaser through that fucker
- I can’t with Kirk’s faces rn
- I love the singing playing through the ship with everyone passed out, it’s such a perfect amount of eerie
- Kirk checking on Bones 🥹🥹🥹
- hiii McCoy hiiii
- I never noticed that the scanner could be uncapped and used as a healing device?
- Adam ate a pear lol
- I did NOT want to see that foot shot
- I like that Spock has such a soft side for the younger people in the show. Like he always has a sense of pride towards Chekov and cared so much about everyone in the group this episode
Thoughts are: Spock is good with kids, Kirk is terrible with kids, and McCoy is just himself always so there’s a reason he’s not a paediatrician but he’s still good with kids
