The Arabian Leopard is a leopard subspecies native to the Arabian Peninsula, but also found in small groups in the Levant, such as in Jordan and Palestine. It is critically endangered, and hasn't been seen in occupied Palestine since the 2010s.

The Arabian Leopard

A.K.A: The Judean Desert Leopard

Scientific Name: Panthera pardus nimr

Region: Scattered Populations along the western and southern coasts of the Arabian Peninsula

Size: About 2'9"-4'2" (0.84m-1.27m) long, not including the roughly 2'6" (0.76m) long tail

Interesting Notes: This gorgeous and smallest leopard subspecies has sadly become critically endangered.  Where the range of this beautiful creature once reached all across the western half of the Arabian Peninsula, less than 200 were estimated to be left in the wild as of 2006.  However, groups out there are pushing for stronger conservation efforts to be made, and a number of facilities began working together on a breeding program in 2010, including a pair born at the Prince Saud Al-Faisal Wildlife Research Center in 2019, so hopefully their populations will be on the upswing again soon.

yasmine always got along better with horses than with other people. him and his family were horse herders and their whole life depended on horses for meat, leather, fur and milk. but he had his one horse who he basically grew up with, who was more like a calm, quiet and comforting dog than a horse. yasmine would play with him in the snow and fool around and spend any waking hour with him. they were inseparable, but they were inseparable even when yasmine got upset or frustrated, so he would be slightly more aggressive, pull harder, or push harder. others mightve not been able to recognize from the outside, but the horse felt it and yasmine knew he could feel it and it made him feel better even if it hurt. but no matter how many times it happened, the horse still loved him, still nuzzled his hands and played with him in the snow and ran up to him whenever he saw him, he was never scared. and yasmine despite how he sometimes treated him loved him just as much, he loved him more than anything. this horse was a dirty gray horse, fluffy white fur and dark messy patchy socks. but the love his horse offered him wasn't enough to satisfy him. yasmine spent his days constantly feeling like he's desiring something more from life, and whenever he didn't have chores to get done he'd ride away on his horse, just riding as fast as they could. he loved it, he loved him, but it was never fast enough. he always had to hold back, at some capacity, even if he did let aggression slip, he could never completely let loose, because horses are fragile. every once in awhile a horse disappeared from his family's herd. not that often but often enough to know there was probably a leopard or a wild cat in the area that's responsible, but they could never spot it. maybe if yasmine could find it it would convince his dad to let him inherit the herd. he needed to be in charge of the horses.

in one of his searches he run into him, not a predator but another horse in the wild that seemed very out of place. a fit black russian arabian that seemed wild even though there was no way it was native to this area, he would know. this horse would react and be loud and make a scene but wouldn't run away, if anything he was curious. yasmine was also curious, so he spent more and more time out in the wilderness with him. but he wasn't able to always find him. sometimes weeks passed between their meetings, not because yasmine didn't look for him (under the pretense of still looking for the wild cat) but because he couldn't find him, and he was aching with desire to see him, and then other times this horse was at their spot days in a row. but he couldn't push him, he couldn't touch him too quickly and couldn't even think of putting any kind of tack on him or the horse would run away. but would still come back the next day or a week later.

the two grew closer and closer, the day yasmine finally managed to touch him felt like his head was spinning with excitement and euphoria. he couldn't sleep.

the horse finally let yasmine lean on him. lean a bit more. push his chest over his back a little more. even though it was so extremely cold, the horse radiated so much heat it felt like he's burning. he was sniffing yasmine and then yasmine pushed up and leaned his weight over his back, but the horse made a scene again, bucked, and ran away after yasmine just barely managed to not get stomped to death. he did get injured, but he got injured almost every time they met.

but finally he did it. he finally managed to sit on the horse's back without falling, and the horse started running. this time he fell and actually dislocated his shoulder, but the short time they did gallop felt like nothing ever before. and the next time, he didn't fall off. and every time they would ride longer and longer, faster and faster.

but then the horse disappeared for weeks again. and he couldn't find him anywhere. and the weeks became months. soon enough it was a year. nothing happened during this year, besides that he was the one in charge of the family's herd now, his dad thought he needed a distraction from this cursed wild cat and maybe he would get back to himself if he gets this extra responsibility, but to yasmine it felt like nothing. and he put more strain on his white yakut horse than ever before, taking him out for rides galloping, but pushing him more and more, more than he did before, and the horse accepted it and loved him still. the horse collapsed once. yasmine's family scolded him - what the fuck is he thinking.

the next ride was way too soon. yasmine could hear his horse's heavy breathing. he didn't care, if anything those breaths just made him want to push harder. the horse tripped, they both fell, and the horse broke his leg. yasmine's younger brother went out to look for him. he found him, scratched up but fine overall, patting his horse's face who laid in pain next to him. the horse was quiet even in this condition. yasmine didn't want to go home, because he knew they have to put him down. his brother got upset with him for not ending the horse's suffering sooner. life continued as usual. no sign of the russian arabian. often yasmine took a horse to walk around and look for him. he has not been galloping on any horse in awhile. he put his everything into the family's herd now. but it felt like nothing. yasmine didn't sleep much anymore. during one of his sleepless nights he got up and went out to the paddock. he noticed strange prints in the snow. one of the new foals was missing. wasn't in the shelter or stable either. he got one of the horses and rode out. honestly, it was snowing and he couldn't see any prints anymore, but he could feel where he should go somehow. he almost got to the meeting spot of him and the black horse. but his horse got agitated and wasn't willing to go on. he got off and let the horse loose. he continued on. yasmine reached his destination. He was there and his nuzzle was stained with blood. a voice told yasmine to take his shoes off and he stopped walking. even though it was pitch black besides his lantern, he knew no one was there. the black horse stared at him completely still. yasmine removed his thick leather shoes and fur socks, but when his bare feet sunk in the snow it was warm. it wasn't his black horse, or a cat. "can you bring him back?" the creature nodded. yasmine's lantern went out when he dropped it and walked towards the creature. somehow he knew what he needed to do. he stood in front of the creature, pulled out his knife, felt around its neck and slashed it's throat. it fell to the ground. the blood was hot, yasmine was sweating. he kneeled down next to the body and dug the knife through its chest to its abdomen. it kept bleeding. he finally managed to cut out the big heart. it was burning hot when he chewed down on it and it took him hours to devour. he didn't stop. by now it was morning but it was still dark. he could tell it's morning because he could now just barely make out the shape of his bloody hands in the faint light. the more he ate the sicker he felt. a pain was growing in his chest and suddenly he curled onto himself when he felt a sudden sharp stab, stronger than before. he could faintly see drops of drool mixed with dark blood on the snow below him. his vision went white from the pain. his heartbeat rung so loud in his ears he couldn't tell if he screamed. he was grabbing at his chest, it was bumpy, something was going on, something morphed out and suddenly dropped in his hands. he couldn't hear his heart anymore. it was completely silent. in his hands was a horse fetus with pure black fur.

Empires s2 characters and what horse they'd have

Hi. Brainrot about empires and a longstanding fixation on horses led to this. Enjoy <3

(it's a long post btw)

Let's start with the obvious. Sheriff Jimmy Solidarity.

Now obviously he has Bullseye and Arrow, however! I would like to debate their breeds for a bit. I think that while Bullseye has a pattern similar to that of a snowflake leopard appaloosa, I believe he's a full Quarter Horse (normally known as an American Quarter Horse) Fast, turns on a dime, and have a good head on their shoulders. Often used on ranches and such because they're good all rounders while being sturdy and dependable.

Arrow would be a Quarter Horse/Arabian Cross, for the speed and coordination of the Quarter, and the endurance and heat tolerance of the Arabian.

Now lets talk about the other person with a horse like companion. Princess Katherine.

She has a Unicorn (half skeleton horse??), that is all white. I think she would have a cremello Saddlebred. They're a gaited breed (fancy walk, showy gait) and very flashy. Cremello is a hard color to get, therefore about as valuable as a unicorn /j

Princess Gem

I love Apollo as much as anyone, however if he were a horse, he would absolutely be a Belgian Draft (specifically a bay). They are big, strong, and were first horses of war (factcheck) then adapted to plow horses. With Dawn's canonical beginnings, I believe a draft would have been a great help in the fields.

Great Witch Shelby

She lives in the swamp, which is not great for horses. However, a pony could fit through the many hanging vines and manuever easier through narrow pathways. I think she would have a Kerry Bog Pony. They're surefooted, hardy, and sound ponies that have a long rich history, but the most important part is that they're used to navigating softer ground because of their origins/home of Kerry (Ireland)

Joel, God of Lore

Show off, big, strong, bull headed. Normally, I would never let someone who's (supposedly) 11 feet tall ride any horse, because the weight would be harmful to them. However, I would assign him a Clydesdale. Flashy, easy to remember, and definitely the kind of horse you would get attention for. They're also usually patient enough to put up with any inconsistencies or surprises from their riders.

Fwhip

Shetland Pony. Small, used to pull carts in mines, and feisty as all get out. No further explanation needed XD

Pixlriffs

I would assign him a mule, as stereotypical as it is. Theyre a very dependable creature, used for packing and riding, and are very sure footed even on mountainous terrain. Overall steady, even if they are stubborn.

Mayor Lizzie

Halflingers are ponies only by breed, not by size (14 hands or under is considered a pony, however there are certain exceptions). They're all palominos, and all sturdy and stout. They have a variety of personalities, but are usually a favored mount by shorter riders. I think theyre overall steadiness and stubbornness would be good to balance out any uh. feline traits from Lizzie, but they would still match her in fierceness.

Scott

Now he would have a blanket Appaloosa. Hands down. Do I need to explain? (specifically a chestnut blanket appaloosa <3)

Oli

He would have an old, run of the mill, done with life, tolerant to the point of apathy, POA (Pony of America. ...its a mutt horse that is short.) Probably one that Fwhip sold to him for an extended debt. I think it would probably be a Chestnut, with a supressed sass to it.

She's so nervous all the time, I think I would give her a retired ranch horse (thus, likely a quarter horse) that could take care of her and lead her back home from wherever they were. It would have seen everything, and probably been used for hunting at least once, therefore any (totally random) blood would be no problem! /hj I think she would probably have an unassuming bay, with a lighter brown coloration to it's body.

In all seriousness, I think I would give him a Paint Chincoteague (shink-o-teeg) Pony. They cross the ocean every year for the round up, and I can absolutely picture Pirate Joe finding a pony on an island and claiming it was the treasure he was meant to find (sea pony!! never been seen before! /j). They can eat seaweed, and iirc they frequently do. Firecrackers they are. Fiesty things with a good heart.

Sausage

I think he would have a Grey Andalusian (grey as in the specific horse color, not the actual color grey). The Andalusian is an elegant horse that was originally a war horse, but has since evolved into a beloved riding horse. They're all rounders, and very majestic looking. Tall, strong, and beautiful, I think that they would be a good fit for the story that Mythical J. Sausage has going on in season 2.

And that's all of them! Of course, giving them all horses would be unreasonable given current story lines, but I thought that it was fun, and a very enjoyable project ^-^
