The obligatory and inescapable
Great Grasscutter Post
He has a big face.
Tumblr media
The only thing keeping Great Grasscutters(Cruorcaeves incarnaticircumdatos)is their feigning point.
.
The feigning point of Great Grasscutters is around 5 years. It's essentially their midlife point in many cases.
.
The feigning point of a fallow is the point in which nanomachine programming dealing with growth is overrided. Further replication *of* nantites no longer outweighs degradation. Basically, it's the point in which fallows stop growing past their pre-programmed size restraints.
.
It's the reason you'll never see too
big of a Grasscutter. :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is your typical, overly generalized Great Grasscutter life cycle. Could use a minor revision, but it works for what it is.
.
Let's go through it, shall we?
.
.
Anyways the stages more in depth, going off of a healthy individual with no development complications;
•Days 1-3 of development; Nanomachine puddle sets up a system for "hunting" outside the burrow. Optical array begins forming, as do the central cortex and basal cortexes in the main body.
•Days 4-6: coherent optical array is now visible, formation of eyes and beak begins. Sentience has been achieved by day 5 as the completion of the central cortex and basal cortex nears. Stationary anchoring prongs are formed to keep the Grasslet in a single position as it develops.
•Days 7-15; mass skin growth tends to occur around here, not much else.
•Days 16-19; mobile prong and slight bone development begins.
•Days 20-25; entirely dedicated to bone growth by this point, stationary prongs anchoring to the wings and neck also make an appearance around here.
•Days 26-30; Formation of all major systems is complete, energy is stored for emergence. The anchoring prongs are broken, detached and assimilated.
•Day 31; Emergence from burrow, first flight is achieved. The bastard Grasslet will likely return to its burrow over the next week or so before finding a territory to call its own, and possibly repeating the process of reproduction far in the future.
.
.
People in Navabataar, and sometimes other continents sometimes carry growing Grasslets around in jars and such to watch them grow. Could honestly imagine them being marketed as a Sea Monkey-esque scenario in some places.
.
It is unclear when exactly sapience is achieved in the life of a Great Grasscutter,it most likely happens sometime during the "enlightenment period" thought to be experienced by bastard Grasscutters during their first year or so of life.
Tumblr media
Recruitment posters for Kegong's military often feature Grasscutters in their propaganda and on their seals and awards.
Great Grasscutters often have a high density of basal chromium in their skeletal anatomy, leading to much corporate exploitation in the way of chromium straining- a process in which chromium is stripped from the bones of an (often still living) Grasscutter to be sold to mega corperations back on Earth for millions. These Grasscutters rarely survive more than a few days after being strained.
Basal chromium is renown for its uniquely light but fascinatingly sturdy structural integrity, often being used in composite architecture. Its unique antiferromagnetic properties also make for an interesting tool in classrooms when studying magnetism.
The hydraulic prongs (not seen below) hold the lose skeleton together, as well as providing further strength to the anatomy of the bird, are numerous and come in two varieties; mobile prongs, used in movement, and stationary/structural prongs, used for added support.

Fun facts!
•-Great Grasscutters reproduce asexually and are born as nothing more than puddles of nanomachines that will proceed to replicate to form a coherent body over the course of 31 days.
•-The Great Grasscutter is Kegong's national bird.
•-Great Grasscutters get up to 6' long! Their wingspan typically matches that length, if not slightly surpassing it. They also typically weigh roughly 15 pounds (in AVAn gravity).
•-In some circles, the Great Grasscutter is called the White-browed Grasscutter
•-Great Grasscutters are endemic to Navabataar's gore forests, though a Niloan relative in the same genus does exist! The Niloan, or Titan Grasscutter.
Tumblr media
They very much enjoy diets primarily consisting of Goregrass.

Futurists worry about AI evolving beyond its programming and becoming more than it was supposed to be, but I don't even see a lot of humans managing to do that.

I rest my case.

Fuckin BULLSHIT the one on the right is way better you only need 1 stroke to draw it!
Speaking of some things being objectively better than others for very important reasons, I booted up my brother’s old copy of Hyrule Warriors yesterday and tried to get A-ranks in the adventure mode, only to gradually realize just how important the level-up system is, meaning that no matter how good you are, the only way to have a chance of getting A-ranks on the later stages is to grind until the enemies don’t take 5 whole minutes each to kill.
Then I ranted to myself in my room about how Ultrakill’s P-ranks are way better
#asks#what kind of legend of zelda game has a fucking level up system?#the game already has 3 other progression systems to make you more powerful#why include a level up system? in a zelda game?#have i ranted about my hatred of number inflation/number-go-up progression on tumblr before?#because i REALLY hate when a perfectly good game has a level up system slapped onto it for no reason#especially this one!#why am i being punished for using a character that i don't play very often?!#absolute nonsense#and when i was playing and trying to a-rank a level i kept getting closer and closer to doing it#and i was like 'yes i'm doing it i'm learning the level and mastering my character!'#'now that i know my character better i'm killing the enemies so much faster! :D'#no. it was just because my numbers were going up :(#'We added a progression system.'#ruined a perfectly good game is what you did. look at it it's got a treadmill attached#some games actually USE their level up systems#pokemon uses it for evolution and to teach new moves#i still don't like the number inflation aspect but at least it's SOMETHING#and Tunic has you finding offerings in hidden treasure chests and choosing how you spend your currency#but hyrule warriors? nothing. it just boosts your health and damage#which i repeat: THERE ARE OTHER PROGRESSION SYSTEMS IN THE GAME THAT ALREADY DO THAT#except you actually have some control over those ones#you get heart containers by finding treasure and getting a-ranks#and you get better weapons by getting loot from enemies and getting a-ranks#and there's ALSO the badge system which does a whole bunch of Stuff#i swear the only reason to have the level up system is to artificially extend the playtime#i guess there might be a skill barrier because the other progression methods require a-ranks#but forcing less-skilled players to spend hours grinding to get up to the level of better players is NOT the solution

wild what a difference a year makes bc now im utterly convinced that a central tenet of gilmore’s story is learning to be content with what you’ve got/a “small” life and not constantly chasing bigger ambitions and thereby being perpetually unhappy/burned out

Mind over Matter - From the InformationAge into the KnowledgeAge:
We humans are nature and therefore our technology is natural, too. What we experience in this age is the process of all the information becoming knowledge.
Life becoming conscious, developing technology, and later becoming artificial, might be the way for the blue marble to finally spread consciousness into space.

The Ancestors
Before divine selection could take place and the Tetrarch could begin, the deities had to choose what would inhabit their world. They would need to be adaptable enough to survive the ecological shock, and able to form a functional ecosystem from the beginning, but the rest was up to the deities’ own inscrutable choices. The majority of colonists were sourced from Earth’s Holocene epoch, but a handful of the founders were inexplicably from various other time periods. To allow more ecologically complex organisms to survive colonization, the cherry-picked settlers were introduced in successive waves, each supporting the next. The first assisted in the final steps of terraforming, the hardiest microbes starting or regulating such vital processes as oxygenation and the carbon cycle. Each wave that followed increased in size and diversity, until the Tetrarch’s founding menagerie was complete. This eclectic sample of Earth would give rise to every oddity making up the Tetrarch’s biosphere, the primordial ancestors from which all of its life descends. What follows is a list of these ancestors at the time that the Tetrarch was ready to begin, not including the myriad unicellular organisms and viruses whose descendants are also important. Plants and Algae -Brazilian Waterweed (Egeria densa) -Coconut Palm (Cocos nucifera) -Erect Prickly Pear (Opuntia stricta) -Grasses (~ 5 species) -Hooker’s Chives (Allium hookeri) -Leptosporangiate Ferns (~ 5 species) -Lithops (~ 5 species) -Mosses (~ 5 species) -Macroscopic Algae (~ 25 species, including Undaria and Acetabularia) -Southern Magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora) -Spanish Moss (Tillandsia usneoides) -Turtlegrass (Thalassia testudinum) Vertebrates -African Clawed Frog (Xenopus laevis) -Banded Knifefish (Gymnotus carapo) -Conodonts (~ 5 species) -Hapalops sp. -Longspined Porcupinefish (Diodon holocanthus) -Pacific Viperfish (Chauliodus macouni) -Spiny Softshell Turtle (Apalone spinifera) -Star-Nosed Mole (Condylura cristata) Arthropods -Atlantic Horseshoe Crab (Limulus polyphemus) -Coccus Soft Scales (~ 5 species) -Copepods (~ 25 species) -Earwigs (~ 5 species) -Goose Barnacles (~ 5 species) -Hoverflies (~ 5 species) -Lacewings (~ 5 species) -Mites (~ 25 species) -Pseudoscorpions (~ 5 species) -Rainbow Mantis Shrimp (Pseudosquilla ciliata) -Springtails (~ 15 species) -Water Fleas (~ 5 species) Molluscs -Applesnails (~ 5 species) -Hippurites sp. -Sea Angels (~ 5 species) -Sea Butterflies (~ 5 species) -Venus Clams (~ 5 species) Other Animals -Arrow Worms (~ 5 species) -Brittle Stars (~ 5 species) -Clitellate Worms (~ 15 species, including leeches, earthworms, and naidids) -Demosponges (~ 10 species) -Dugesia Planarians (~ 5 species) -Nematodes (~ 300 species) -Rotifers (~ 5 species) -Tardigrades (~ 5 species) -Velvet Worms (~ 5 species) Fungi -Collared Earthstar (Geastrum triplex) -Lichens (~ 5 species) -Molds (~ 50 species)

Been thinking a lot about Part 5 characters with Digimon, and I think Lucemon would be a very fun partner for Giorno. Lucemon is typically an antagonist in Digimon media, so I think it'd be interesting to give a partner like that to Giorno, who keeps them in check with his strong moral compass.
Also the angel symbolism is just really neat and it works pretty well with Giorno being the son of "God" (aka DIO).
i could see that working too yeah! it could present an interesting dynamic where lucemon's ability to evolve depends entirely on how well they work with someone like giorno, and if he's partnered with a lucemon who doesn't share the same vision as him it would present an opportunity for an arc where one or both of them have to compromise on their views and act beyond strict ideas of good and evil to grow stronger. the only problem that comes to mind is the satan mode that's both visually and thematically the opposite of giorno in many ways, i guess it could make for a nice contrast but it might be a bit much for my tastes lol
also i may have mused about these jojo digimon shenanigans enough to have pucci partner with a lucemon as a way for him to create his new world oop
#im also very fond of my idea of involving digimentals in part5 but that's just me#im going to ramble abt this headworld for a moment but: each part has slightly varying elements to digivolution#part3 is fairly standard; evolving to champion is easier than ultimate and only jotaro can get to a mega stage#protagonist/joestar priviledges etc i think it checks out#part4 has things less restricted bc morioh has a strong connection to the digital world#so evolution happens more often than in part3 and ultimates are more frequent too (mega's still jojo exclusive)#part5 has digimentals that unlock ultimate-level power with no restrictions of normal evolution (a whole topic on itself)#i think they have a drawback of needing to recharge after use though? since the arrow is sparsely used too#part6 is more tamers inspired and involves the ARK digivice's card reader stuff#there's less evolution going on in favor of using cards to give lower-level digimon advantages in battle#ultimates are also more difficult to reach and may require different cards to be achieved#i changed jolyne's partner to a wormmon for stone free similarities and evolving from stingmon it has the option to dna digivolve#which has lead me to consider giving her access to a card with exveemon data to artificially dna digivolve her partner#with some drawbacks i have yet to specify#it could also be neat if her wormmon specifically had this kind of limitation in digivolving#and it spent more time as rookie than any other digimon#only to be one of the only ones to evolve to mega eventually#this is a lot of thoughts of tags so i'll cut it here but yes i have been thinking about this for a while lol
