See, Tsuki gets it, you’re hot. Of course people wanna flirt with you but they should learn to take a hint. Especially when you tell them you’re not interested. They usually kinda just ignore him or push him out of the way or even try to take you away. Like hell Tsuki’s gonna let that happen. Bitch please. Anyone who underestimates Tsuki is in for a treat. Oh boy… 

He HATES confrontation, but for you, he’ll step right in. Usually, Tadashi likes to get in between you and the offender. He’ll try to tell them to stop bothering you. He really crosses his fingers and hopes it’ll work.

Since their backs are turned to him, he’ll just come up behind them, grab their hair and pull so hard they fall to the ground. If they’re bald then he’ll do the same but with their shirt. You’ll take your chance to hide behind Tadashi, who’s just death glaring at the person on the floor.

“You went to Seikoudai Junior High, right? I remember you! You spiked like a high schooler!”

The first years are at it again, you think, looking out the window. You’re right above them and you can’t help listening in.

“I-I… I mean, I wasn’t… I was just playing,” the tallest of the bunch stutters. He’s kinda cute, with his wavy hair and that button nose. 

“Oh come on, don’t be shy,” the guy next to him seems to be lacking all the shyness his friend seems to have in spades. His greyish hair bobs as he moves and you hold back a giggle at the sight. The third one in their little group is too invested in his curry bun for you to get a good look.

“Hey, are you even listening?” Someone taps your shoulder and you flinch, more so because of the three boys looking up at you, spotting you clearly listening in. 

You pull away and slip back into your seat, face burning.

“Hey, can you get this to class 2-4?” You look up, half expecting the teacher to be addressing you. Instead, she’s talking to the cute First-Year. His hands are balled to fists, so you figure he’s probably too scared to say something against it. 

To be fair, he’s a little tall for a First-Year, taller than quite a few boys from your Class.

You walk over and clear your throat, hoping against all odds that he has forgotten that moment at the window weeks ago.

“Hey, you’re a First-Year, right?” You ask. “You can give me those books, I can take them.”

“I-It’s okay,” he stutters, “They’re pretty heavy. I can carry them.”

“Oh, okay. Do you want me to show you the way?”

His eyes light up and you swallow thickly. Wow, he’s really cute. And younger than you, your mind supplies right away.

“So, what Clubs are you in?” You ask, trying to get your brain back on track. 

“Volleyball,” he squeaks. 

You nod slowly. You have never been particularly interested in any sport before, dreading the times you have to participate during the mandatory sports classes, but maybe you could check them out? 

“Do you like it?”

“Y-Yeah, I mean, I…” He starts stuttering again, so you wait for him to catch his breath and finish his sentence. There’s no use in rushing something like that. “I’m pretty tall and I don’t like Basketball, that’s why I started with Volleyball. I don’t think I’m bad at it.”

“But do you like it?” The question seems to surprise him, he blinks at you like no one’s ever asked him that before.

“I guess?” 

“What else do you like?” You ask, only to realize you’ve reached your destination. There’s no more chance to talk, not with the bell ringing for the next class anyway. But you catch his name as he introduces himself to the teacher and you can’t help but whisper it to yourself, tasting the vowels like their a foreign treat.

“Azumane-kun!” You wave. He blushes a feverish pink.

His friends nudge him, one on the left, one on the right, until he stumbles over.

“Wh- Can I… Can I help you?”

“I wanted to check you guys out, I brought my friends along. Just wanted to wish you good luck before the game.”

“O-Oh, thank you!” He nods, yet unable to look at you. You swallow thickly, but for a different reason this time. You’re probably too forward and he’s probably not interested in the weird Senpai who keeps chatting him up.

“Anyways, have fun playing,” you tell him, pulling away before you can clap him on the back like an absolute lunatic. And for good measure, you wave at Kurokawa too, though that seems to only confuse your classmate. 

God, you need help.

“What do you think of Tashiro-kun?” Sachiro, one of your friends asks. “He plays Volleyball.”

Hideko snickers. “She’s not into Volleyball, she’s into that First-Year that happens to play Volleyball.”

“I’m not,” you argue, but your friends just send you a look that speaks volumes. You’ve been found out.

“I’m so done,” you groan, “It’s weird, isn’t it?”

“A little bit,” Sachiro agrees softly, “But not in a creepy way. You’ve just always crushed on older guys before.”

“I did not,” you try to argue but Hideko is already holding up her hand, counting down names as she taps her fingers one by one. You grumble but fall silent.

“Just lay off a bit,” Sachiro offers her advice, “He seems pretty shy.”

“E-Excuse me?” You look up from your book, surprised to see Asahi standing in front of you.

“Yeah?”

“I… I’m supposed to turn these in, but Kumagai-Sensei is not at her table.”

You blink toward the desk at the front of the Library. It’s deserted. 

The Library itself is quiet, yet well-filled. Your heart stutters at the realization that he approached you because he knew you. He approached you.

Okay, now get a hold of yourself, your mind chastises you and you send him a smile.

“No worries. You can leave them with me if you want, I’ve still got some work to finish. You probably need to get back to training, right?”

“Is that really okay?”

“Of Course, it’s no hassle at all.”

He seems unsure, but a glance at the giant clock over the door further spurs him on. He puts the books on the table in front of you, blushing yet again when you’re now able to spot their titles.

“A hobby?” You ask, surprised to see that these books are about sewing and creating patterns.

Asahi’s mouth opens and closes like he’s a fish out of water. You put one of your Calculus books over his and send him another smile, this one a bit more secretive than the others.

“It’s going to be our little secret.”

You end your second year just like you begin your third. No boyfriend, but still crushing.

Karasuno’s Volleyball-Team hopes for more talented players and while that’s not the same as getting a good Coach, you can’t help but notice that that Nishinoya-guy and Asahi get along just nicely. 

Your face has started to become a familiar sight at their games to the point that Asahi waves back, blushing furiously every single time.

You don’t know what he tells his teammates about you or what they think about you, but so far no one has asked you to leave and you’ve started to enjoy watching them play, learning about the sport one game at a time.

“What are you studying for?” You ask softly, surprised to see Asahi at your usual table the library. His head is buried in his book, hair now so long he’s started to tie it up.

“Japanese Literature,” he explains, “I’ve got a bad mark in my last assignment and my parents were not amused.”

“Ah,” you nod, “Not my favorite subject either. Want some help?”

He blushes as he nods, pushing the book closer to you.

“Hey,” you look up from your bag to find Asahi standing over you, Umbrella at the ready. “Do you want me to walk you home?”

“Do you want to walk me home?” You ask back and watch him blush.

“I… I noticed you didn’t have an.. an Umbrella with you, this morning, you know…”

“Thank you,” you get up from the floor and swing your bag over your shoulder, “I appreciate it.”

His Umbrella is big enough to keep both of you dry without you having to touch. Which is a shame, but his body is warm enough that you can still feel it from this distance, probably because of training.

“How’s the team?” You ask, content with the silence but unable to fight against the urge to get to know him just a little bit better each day.

“Good, good. I… we might have a real shot at the Nationals this time.”

“Really? That’s amazing. I’ll be sure to cheer you on!”

“I just…” He stops and you can tell he’s biting his tongue. 

“What?”

“Nothing.”

“No, it’s fine, you can tell me. I won’t judge.”

“Do you ever feel weightend down by the expectation people set in you?”

His answer is unexpected. You stop in your tracks, eyes widening. He immediately starts to apologize but you hold your hand up and stop him.

“I get it. I just… I didn’t think you’d ask that. I thought that was just a thing Third-Years have to go through.”

He laughs, a sound that’s both abrupt and not really amused. 

“No, I guess that’s an Universal feeling.”

“Yeah,” you nod and take a deep breath, “I know what you mean. All the teachers telling you that you didn’t give your best or your parents having dreams for you you cannot seem to reach.”

“How do you deal with it?” Asahi asks and you can tell he really wants to know. If only you had a better answer.

“Most of the time I make jokes about it and pretend it doesn’t exist. Not the healthiest way of dealing with it, but so far I haven’t found a better solution.”

He laughs.

“You?” You ask.

“Do you know “Don't Give up, Kamchatka”?”

You tell yourself that you will confess to him on your graduation day.

You tell yourself to wait when you want to blurt it out on the way home, when he hands you little treats so you manage to keep up with the demands of graduating or when he sends you a text in the morning so you don’t forget your Umbrella.

But then, just weeks before graduation, Karasuno tries for the Nationals. You sit in the bleachers, watch as Date Tech grinds your team down to the bone. 

Something breaks in Asahi, you can tell.

Nothing’s the same after that.

No more good morning texts, no walking home after school.

“I should be the one asking you that,” you tell him, punching his arm lightly and regretting it right away - those biceps can’t be human.

You’ve talked about everything and nothing so far. How he’s in fashion college of all things - your little secret - and how you like your work so far. 

“I’m sorry,” you tell him when you walk down the street, pavement wiped clean by the light rain from earlier, “I was pretty pushy back in high school.”

“I was a wuss in high school,” he disagrees softly, “I probably needed it.”

“Relationships aren’t something you should be pushed in,” you argue and he stops abruptly. When you turn to look up at him, his Adam’s apple bobs nervously as he fights for words.

“I’ve done it again,” you sigh, “Haven’t I?”

“Relationship?” He croaks out. “With me?”

You laugh in disbelief. “I’ve had a crush on you since your first day at Karasuno, Asahi. I thought I was obvious.”

“Yeah,” you nod, stretching out your hand. For what you don’t know until he takes it, his grip warm and reassuring.

Well, the day couldn't have gone better... well, it could have, if Nishinoya wasn't eavesdropping on Asahi's conversation with his boyfriend. But, was it eavesdropping? He just took a peek at his texts with (M/n).

"Asahi-san has a boyfriend?!" Was what he yelled at the top of his lungs after there were done stretching after practice was over for the day.

Of course, the third and second years had some explaining to do, since they didn't know about Asahi's sexuality. At first, he came out as bisexual, then asexual, and he finally got over his sexuality crisis, and realized he was demisexual. He never had a gender preference anyway, and he loves (M/n) as much as his family.

But, after the little explanation, everyone wanted to meet Asahi's boyfriend, something that made the brunette a little nervous, setting in just ask about it to his boyfriend. Even if he already knew what (M/n)'s answer was going to be.

Neither of them ever realize, well they kinda did, but Asahi never explained it to the rest of the Karasuno members.

(M/n) would go to every single one of their games, he was a scary dude in the audience, no one ever sat less than three seats away from him. His tough and intimidating appearance made everyone coward away from him. But the reality couldn't have been farther from that. (M/n) always tested him after every game, whether they lost or won, to comfort him or cheer him up.

They would meet up in an empty place, usually a deserted hallway, occasionally in one of the empty bathrooms, and no one ever found out. Like they had been dating ever since they met, which was when Asahi was still a first year and (M/n) a second year. Asahi knew everyone -except the first years- would recognize him immediately once they see him.

Well, back in his home, Asahi got a call from (M/n), wondering why he suddenly stopped texting him and Asahi explained everything that has happened almost an hour ago. Obviously, as Asahi already thought, (M/n) accepted meeting the Karasuno volleyball team, a cheerful tone of voice making Asahi's heart beat faster and they talked a little more, before saying their good night's to each other and falling asleep.

The next day, Asahi told them his boyfriend was going to come later in the day, since he had to work in the morning till the afternoon. Now, that made everyone though Asahi's boyfriend was way older than him, so they were kinda nervous now.

After a long way, their everyday practice came by, and they were all getting dressed and began stretching.

(M/n) walked inside the school campus, both hands inside the pockets of his leather jacket, he saw some students leaving the building since they didn't have club activities or just weren't in a club. He walked towards the gym where the volleyball team used to practice, since he had a feeling they still got to use it, and he stood outside by the door.

He took his headphones off, letting them hang around his neck and immediately, he was able to hear the squeaky sounds of shoes against the floor, followed by yells or the sound of the volleyball hitting skin or the ground.

The sounds reminded him of last year, during his last high school match at the Winter Cup tournament. Being the ace of the basketball team made him well known around the school, but people were also scared of him, mostly because of his looks and the way he dressed, but in reality...

(M/n) slid the door open, targeting everyone's eyes. Hinata and Yachi flinched at the sight of the intimidating male, while the second and third years bowed with a loud greeting.

Asahi looked at everyone with a panicked expression, muttering that they shouldn't bow and be so formal with (M/n), which made them stare at Asahi with curious looks in their eyes.

"Asahi-san... you mean... that (L/n)-senpai is..." Nishinoya slowly spoke, causing the third-year brunette to blush and scratch the back of his neck.

"Uh, y-yeah... (M/n) is my boyfriend-" not even a second after, Tanaka and Noya were standing very close to the (h/c) haired male, an aggressive expression on both of their faces.

"You better treat our Asahi-san well, senpai." Boys said, causing Daichi to sigh behind them and Sugawara to chuckle at the duo's antics.

"Yeah, senpai, we're watching you closely," (M/n) kept his serious stare on them, making them tremble as they started losing their confidence, but the male just laugh and hugged them by the shoulders.

"I'm so happy I'm finally able to meet the volleyball team!!" He cheered loudly, a playful look in his eyes as he saw the small middle blocker hiding behind a stoic black-haired setter. "Hinata-kun~!"

He yelled as he rushed towards the smaller male, who flinched and shrieked as he ran away, but (M/n) caught him pretty easily.

"There's no need to be afraid, Hinata-kun, I'm not gonna hurt you." Eventually, the orange-haired male let his intimidating senpai hold him in his arms and soon enough, he was laughing out loud to his heart's content.

"Sugawara-san," the blond walked closer to the silver-haired third-year, and he looked at Tsukishima with a gentle smile. "Could you tell me who that guy is?"

At that moment, he realized that neither of the five first years nor the couch knew who (M/n) was, so he started calling out to everyone.

"Everybody, come over for a moment, you too, (L/n)-senpai." (M/n) had a pout on his lips as he set Hinata down, walking next to Asahi and the rest of his kohais. "Alright, this is (L/n) (M/n), he's our senpai and former ace of Karasuno's basketball team."

"Hi~," (M/n) said with a wide smile while he waved his hands.

Tsukishima sweatdropped at the male's behavior, but soon, everyone was having fun getting to know their senpai, while Asahi just watched (M/n) as he got along with everyone just fine.

Yes, (M/n) might look scary and sometimes he can be a little too much to handle, but that doesn't necessarily means is a bad thing. He was extremely kind and very, very sweet.

Just look at him, he even managed to make Tsukishima chuckle at a joke he told him.

Okay so these kids live basically on the outskirts so most of them don’t got any public transportation experience before high school. School-paid buses do NOT count.

Third Years:

Daichi Sawamura - Probably has ridden a bus or train to the city maybe once or twice; I heard he’s directionally challenged but he can probably get to places if he memorizes the path and sticks to it; his experiences on public transportation are fine, nothing that interesting happens but he likes the sights; people have gone up to him to ask for directions when it’s his first time ever at a stop

Kōshi Sugawara - Has never ridden public transportation before high school, doesn’t like the bus air smell but can tolerate it, reads or plays on his phone for long rides

Asahi Azumane - Probably has ridden once when he was younger for sth like a specialist doctor visit (so he can’t get out of it), came up with the worst possible scenarios the night before, if he were any younger than he was then his mom would escort him there (sadly she has work today), his fears were completely unfounded but he basically collapsed at his door from mental exhaustion when he got home; he’s probably the type to suffer from motion sickness too and needs to remember to take his meds; 80% will fumble when he taps or swipes his card

Kiyoko Shimizu - Absolute mystery if she’s ever taken it but she’s Shimizu so every experience is perfect for her; the type to like to ride with a buddy to chat with but will pull out a book otherwise (mostly to deter any men trying to hit on her, so she can just ignore)

Second years:

Yū Nishinoya - Never so he’s so pumped to try it out; bus is okay but the train? IT’S SO COOL this idiot will be standing up while the train is moving when there are available seats, will want to swing from pole to pole like Dancing in the Rain (has not seen the original); he gets stopped by a train worker one day when he’s bouncing from pole to pole to ask where his parents are; one of those people who want to ride to the end of a train or bus line only for this dumbass to realize his stop is the last stop

Ryūnosuke Tanaka - Has never had the need to ride on public transportation and is proud of it; 1000% willing to act as some sort of protector on the train for Kiyoko (Kiyoko has to keep track of the stations bc he’s going to forget); thinks the trains are cool too (and honestly much prefers it over Saeko’s driving but he would like to live thank you much); also one of those last stop dumbasses

Chikara Ennoshita - idk but I feel like this guy has rode buses more often and he honestly prefers it to trains; old ladies at the bus stops chat with him about stuff and he eventually becomes a regular with them; tries to read on the bus but he gets motion sickness and instead watches the window or the old ladies chat him up some more

Hisashi Kinoshita - probably never had an experience before high school; also the type to like to ride with a buddy; he honestly gives me mobile gamer vibes idk, it’s either really short bus rides or really long train rides; his mom probably worries about if he has enough money every time (he probably does)

Kazuhito Narita - Doesn’t like public transport and he doesn’t know exactly why but there’s always something off whenever he rides whether the seats are too dirty or the air is too smelly; he probably has the most experience riding public transport (relatives in the city or sth); sights watcher

First years:

Tobio Kageyama - once or twice for family; he likes the train more (bro gives off such his family gifted him model trains instead of Hot Wheels); yea he will sleep on the train even in that super uncomfortable position with his head back; HE WILL MISS HIS STOP WHEN HE SLEEPS and once he misses his stop he is now lost and requires someone to give him directions via call

Shōyō Hinata - no experience either and honestly it’s okay, he prefers his bike; the sights are cool tho, one of those who will put his face against that dirty glass to “get a closer look”; has been scolded before to seat properly on the seat instead of on his knees facing the window; holds his little sister’s hand when with her; always running to catch his ride

Kei Tsukishima - has past experience; prefers going alone or with Yamaguchi; listens to music via his headphones regardless; doesn’t like it when the trains get crowded and he’s squished between two people; does not give up his train seat to the elderly; never runs to catch a bus or train, if he misses it he misses it

Tadashi Yamaguchi - has past experience too; likes going with Tsukki although Tsukishima makes like no conversation and Yamaguchi talks for a bit and then it’s just silence (the comfortable kind dw); he’s the GPS and maps person when he’s with Tsukki; sights watcher too

Hitoka Yachi - def rides public transport to school and back; her mom has her card always filled to max; if my girl didn’t ride so often she would have debilitating thoughts about worst case scenarios like Asahi; she’s probably the person Kageyama calls when he gets lost and she will try to explain the best she can but the poor boy may still get lost and they will panic together; she’s rode public transport so many times it’s just a thing to her now but she enjoys when the rest of the team rides with her since they usually aren’t used to it and have the most excited outlooks on it

Daichi is likely really good at math. i say this because he’s so logical and thinks things through. he has to be a left brainer.

i feel like Daichi isn’t good at cooking but isn’t bad either.

Daichi is reliable because of something in his past. There had to be a time where something went wrong and he had to step up, a time where he WASN’T reliable and he lost someone important to him (doesn’t have to be death), or he didn’t have someone there for him when he needed it.

Daichi secretly wants to be in on the chaos, but because he’s the Captain he feels like he has to set an example for the first years.

Daichi prefers savory foods. He doesn’t really like to eat sweets as often but every now and again he’ll snack on some homemade foods.

Daichi is either a minimalist, a plant dad, or both.

Daichi is very, very cleanly and his room is organized.

I feel like his clothes are color coded and by season.

Daichi owns romance manga/ slice-of-life manga.

Daichi secretly loves dramas and soap operas.

Daichi was a band kid; played a wind instrument or the drums. Likely joined marching band.

Probably works part time at an animal shelter bc he loves animals.

Noya was a menace. since he wasn’t afraid of anything, he would scare his peers and friends by picking up spiders and snakes and chase after them.

Noya is a hopeless romantic but has no rizz whatsoever.

Noya would be a wonderful boyfriend but he just wouldn’t know what to do.

Noya doesn’t care how long a piece of food has been on the floor- he will eat it.

Noya cares about the team very dearly. they’re essentially his family

When Noya isn’t able to save the ball, he takes it to heart. he often beats himself up for it.

Noya blames himself for Asahi leaving the team.

Noya loves fruit.

Noya sometimes wishes that he could be a better influence on the first years but then remembers that he wouldn’t have any fun and ultimately decides to just be the physical embodiment of chaos.

Noya is really sweet and thoughtful when he wants to be.

Noya is very observant.

TANAKA RYŪNOSUKE:

Tanaka was probably beat up by his sister as a kid and bc of that he’s good at wrestling and shit.

Tanaka, if someone could take him seriously, has hella rizz.

Tanaka loves christmas.

Tanaka values his friends and family and holds them very close to his heart

Tanaka feels incompetent on the court quite often but suppresses that feeling so his insecurities don’t affect the game.

Tanaka really, really enjoys hanging out with the first years.

Tanaka thinks Shoyo and Yamaguchi are precious babies and thus, gives them the same tough love his sister gave him.

I think you could use a little break.
