Gen as aroallo sounds SO CANON

But before I start talking I want to say that I am not up to date with Dr Stone, I heard the manga ended but I have no idea what the ending was like. I saw the anime two or three years ago and I loved it, and I watched the second season but by that time my hyperfixation had passed and I didn't pay much attention. And I didn't read the manga for almost the same reason, I have a hard time paying attention when I read manga (I'm working on changing that because I like reading) and it was quite long so I haven't read it.

Everything I know is from the first season of the anime and a little from the second. If you have data that is not in these or is from the 2nd season that I probably no longer remember, please mention it.

Now, AROACE SENKU, thanks for offering to speak.

He's so aroace, and I mentioned that I think he's sex/romance-neutral, because well, he's indifferent to both things and having relationships, BUT, he's also disgusted by the idea (watch when he meets Kohaku). So I think he is neutral but a little repulsed, you know what I mean? Like he might get into a relationship for his own benefit, and he has done that, but not because of feelings or attraction. So my conclusion is that he is mostly romance-repulsed and sex-neutral, what do you think?

The truth is that I was very surprised when I tried to enter the Dr Stone fandom and what I found was that Senku was shipped with almost all the characters, I think that was one of the reasons why my hyperfixation on Dr Stone lasted so little. I mean, I wasn't against ships but it felt a little strange to ship the character who doesn't give a shit about romance with half the world. Above all, the ship that I liked the least (and I still don't like it) was Senku and Kohaku, because I am a big defender of man-woman friendships, and they radiated bestie energy for me. At that time I was already tired of seeing romance everywhere and I only wanted to see a platonic relationship, AND THEY WERE THAT, AND I FELT VERY IDENTIFIED WITH THEM BECAUSE THEY BOTH SHOWED REPULSION EVERY TIME THE OTHERS INSUINATED THAT THEY WERE A COUPLE, AND THAT'S EXACTLY HOW I FELT (for Hestia, looking back I wonder why it took me so long to realize/accept that I'm Aroace).

Now I can see Senku and Kohaku having a queerplatonic relationship for the convenience of both, but like they don't really have a romance they just have great affection for each other (Kohaku could be aroace too or be on the spectrum)

Those are my thoughts so far, do you have anything to add or anything else you want to share? (you can tell me about Gen aroallo if you want, I LOVE that hc I can't believe I haven't thought of it before)

I never felt as ace as when Dr Stone season 2 came out and, idk if you remember, but everyone was like "omg Senku with wet hair" or whatever so I was confused asf – because idk what the allos were on but when I watched the scene, I just LAUGHED my head off bc I didn't know his hair could look more ridiculous until I was proven wrong when he went from leek to seaweed

Something I really don't like is when senku is constantly shipped (even queer platonically as he's loveless but im mostly gonna be talking about romantically). And when people say he's aroace, some will say that it's "more of a headcanon".

Like, no. Senku being aroace is represented in the same way as all the other lgbtqia+ characters in Dr Stone. If that's the logic you're going to use then technically all the other queer characters aren't canonically queer despite being so obviously so.

Some people (only allos that I've seen so far), will say "but aroaces can still date!" which is true, but all I'm getting from it is "I just want an excuse to give them allo experiences". Also, senku is in no way interested in romance/sex. He is also very much loveless aroace.

I just really hate when allos cover up queer rep that isn't meant for them.

the third season of dr. stone began in the international asexuality day, in conclusion: senku is canonically aroace. i connected the dots.

To everyone who says Senku is unconfirmed as AroAce.

I get it. Stuff like that can be annoying to read over and over again (especially if you're not invested in sexualities or their representation in media). I know so because I'm fucking annoyed that I have to write it over and over again because people don't get it. So bear with me so we can once and for all fucking agree that Senku is canonically a loveless AroAce.

Imagine Ryusui, right ?

Average bisexual, respects women, desires everything and everyone, etc.

By the logic of those who say Senku isn't AroAce, Ryusui isn't bisexual (or bi+).

Why?

Because neither Inagaki nor Boichi said "Ryusui is bisexual/falls under the bisexual umbrella".

Hell, by this logic Francois isn't non-binary. They never said that either. But I digress, let's focus on Ryusui again.

Still he's canon and why is that? Because he said "I love all women you see! Men too! I desire them all!"

This is what an implied confirmation is all about. The character says something that confirms their sexuality. The AUTHORS wrote that line. The authors made the decision to have Ryusui say that.

Ryusui himself never said he's bi+, but he said something that confirms that he's attracted to more than one gender, ergo he's canonically bisexual (or pansexual, or omni, that's not really the point here and not why I made this post, fact is that he is canonically attracted to more than one gender).

Senku responds to Kohaku's "I've fallen for you quite hard" with "Sheesh, annoying crap like that makes me wanna curl up and die."

Senku says "A brain clouded by love is the most irrational kind. It leads to nothing but trouble."

Senku says in response to Homura's "Watch where you're touching me!" with "These kind of tricks won't work on me"

Senku tell Nikki in response to her saying "I could see myself falling for you" with "Let's nip that in the bud, 'kay?".

How he HATES being touched by other people. How he doesn't hug people back because he doesn't want that (also is part of him being autistic, but I digress). He's inconsiderate of others' feelings (Inagaki himself said this one. A comment from the author himself in an interview a few years back. Google it).

OTHER CHARACTERS say Senku "10 billion percent doesn't give a crap about dating" and that he "just says whatever they want to hear just to accomplish his goals" and ALL AGREE TO THAT STATEMENT.

That those who think Senku is romantically/sexually interested in anyone "don't know Senku at all"

He remained SINGLE even AFTER THE END of Dr. Stone. Years of Senku not having romantic interests in people ONCE.

But for some fucking reason people will go OUT OF THEIR WAY, bending over backwards and grasping at straws to say that Senku is unconfirmed, that he will never be AroAce, especially not a loveless AroAce, and send disgusting aphobic comments to Aspec people who just want to be represented in media FOR ONCE and not be the side character of some B plot people will forget.

This reasoning just reeks of pure Aphobia.

👀 HI HI! it was an absolute joy to read your thoughts on aroace Senku! And I hard agree on romance-repulsed and sex-neutral because I swear that’s LITERALLY how he’s written, I love it

About season 2 and 3! I watched them and I’ve also binged the entire manga. Spoiler, everything about him remains the same LOL. I do highly recommend watching Dr. Stone because familial love is a big focus and his aroace moments are ✨gems✨ Senku as an aroace icon is one of the reasons I kept up with this series haha

AROACE(spec) KOHAKU!!!!

I haven’t really given this much thought but I AGREE!! Spoiler, she shows some interest in Senku towards the end but it’s kept light/casual because they’ve always been like that - a long relationship built on familiarity. She never hesitates about loving him, but she also doesn’t show that love romantically. Maaaaybe implied but never aloud. Also, they are so funny when put in romantic situations together, it’s AMAZING. And when we spotlight their relationship, it’s very heartwarming (season 3!). Even the people around them agree their relationship is not romantic in nature. GAH they’re both so aroace coded.

Realizing I often don’t appreciate their friendship verbally because I know they’re shipped together. :,) it’s nice to talk about! Plus I LOVE Kohaku as a character, she’s fantastic.

Well this definitely made me want to watch Dr Stone, maybe I'll start watching it again or I'll start reading the manga! Platonic and familial love and the found family trope is something I love, one of my favorite tropes. And I also absolutly love how much aroace is Senku, such an icon, it will be more funny to see it now that I know I'm aroace.

KOHAKU AND SENKU, THE AROACE DUO. They are both such good characters and I always loved their dynamic, strong girlboss and nerdy chief scientist. Their friendship is just so wonderful.
