I really like this moment. At the beginning of the film, Astrid hits the dorsal fin release button quite hard, and Hiccup tells her to be careful, since "calibration is very sensitive." At the end of the film, we see that Astrid pressed this button much more gently. Moreover, after pressing, she freezes for a few moments, waiting for Hiccup's reaction, and laughs only after she is sure that he is okay. She respects Hiccup's feelings and is able to adjust her behavior model when necessary.

Back again with another fanfic finding request

Its a hiccstrid fic , canon divergence and multi long chapters where hiccup leaves Berk before the final dragon test (either run out or voluntary idk which anymore) and eventually ends up back on Berk with Astrid being the one person who comes to see him?

Don’t remember much but I do remember it was more enemies to lovers deal/hidden identity deal. Pretty sure Hiccups infamous at that point stopping raids and being a big antagonist towards Berk and their dragon killing conquests but he ends up with Astrid a lot in the dragon ring I believe. Not sure if he was stuck there but possibly not.

Hiccup doesn’t speak and keeps his helmet/mask on while hanging with Astrid so she doesn’t know who he is. I also remember him being more cold towards her and last I remember she still didn’t know it was him/or she broke his trust by taking his mask off and seeing herself but I didn’t finish the fic. The premise I think is hes slowly getting her to be on his side about dragons in secret and theres bonding between her and stormfly but its slow.

Also they have a lot of bonding moments between them that seem like they’ll be friends or he will confess who he is throughout but then something happens and he’s back to being cold.
