today's sidequest has been doing some scanning and cleaning of my mom's 1985 candy candy manga that's held together by tape. it was afaik the first manga that was ever published in spain, and it was both in color and flipped for western reading, in B5 format! this was a hardcover edition that compiled several shorter stapled installments of each manga chapter, that had been previously released by themselves

#could have done more to fix the yellowing but i think it has its charm idk #i donttt think ill scan all of it. what a pain. or at least not rn #if i can get a hold of an a3 scanner for a while then maybe.................#i havent found any decent scans of this which is such a shame #nor in spanish or in any other language #the flip rly stands out to me #and it's still very clearly well drawn despite that ! love #i think it's cool that they released each chapter by itself too...... it's a way of getting to them faster #mar's midnight rambles #my mom does not particularly care that im going this it's tbh more for my sake #candy candy #mrhmmm yeah i could do a better job but i think id never get any close to finishing

It is not classist that Jason, a vigilante in a *family of vigilantes*, is violent like the rest | just | because he comes from a poor family

What's (more likely) classist is writers thinking he needs to be taught right vs wrong from Bruce and co and that he consequently makes snap judgments out of some childish grudge-fueled rebellion which makes him dangerous the way a toddler holding a knife is dangerous

#that dumb godzilla vs kong beast wrld issue is a prime example of what I'm talking abt #but I can't even say that's | classism | per se #cause it's also just a product of writers not liking him solely for being in opposition to their bbyg bruce #kelseethe #when will people get it in their heads that shooting someone isn’t “more" violent #than cracking their skulls on cement or ripping their bodies to shreds “but keeping them alive”#things the other bats do pretty regularly and with quite a bit of pride too #it will never not be weird that people see Jason remorselessly poisoning a child trafficker who did it for EXTRA cash #or shooting+killing a dude who was deliberately poisoning his young kid and wife with a drug similar to street fentanyl #and think he should have his edges rounded out #people who say Jason can afford to be “less violent”#are accidentally “Jason should kill less sob sob urban legends is good” schmucks #which is kinda more pathetic than being his anti like at least they *know* what they're saying #even if he was more rageful like in rh gotham war instead of cold/detached like in utrh I'd have that any day #over cheer Jason's “sob sob bad people dying still has consequences I don't really know how to cope with so rubber bullets see” nonsense #ever since his appearance in batman 408. everything Jason has done #he did knowing exactly why he was doing it and what the consequence(s) would be #he believes the extent of “harm” a person causes is always their choice #and he doesn't do more for the sake of revelling in the pain he causes the way bruce does #but whatever he does do he never tries to sugarcoat or downplay which makes it all the more agreeable #and he certainly doesn’t convince himself he does it out of love or compassion or some other mushy horeseshit #like sorry you're of feeble mind but I'm not a wuss and I think it's very logical and cool lol

Currently midnight and in pain after being out at a pride festival all day so our queue has just been running posts for us but wanted to drop in and say that on that syscourse ask a bit ago we did actually read "puriteen" as "puritan".

Domesticated Post-Tekken 2 Era Kazuya is my favorite to think about because this would be so good for him and everyone else but he would have an absolutely miserable time during it

#like I dont think he would REALLY miss the rich ceo lifestyle bc i dont see it as smth he ASPIRES to but as a means to give himself power #if you (jun) somehow manage to convince him that he does not actually NEED power then i think hes adaptable enough to ajust to a humble life #and the whole being rich thing fed into his worst traits #but I think being close to jun all the time would be torture for him bc he would CONSTANTLY be confronted to his own faulty morality #he cant help feeling above other common people bc he endured much more pain and hardships at 5yo than them in a lifestyle-#but he cannot act on his superiority complex about them bc Its Not The Right Thing To Do #he looks at his newborn son and feel *nothing* before feeling frustration and irritation toward *himself*#bc hes smart enough to know he SHOULD be feeling smth #and if he relunctantly admit this to jun she would tell him that if the best he can do (for now) is to not wish or do any harm on jin-#then it is good enough and he should not beat himself up about it (which he doesnt. but he does)#and even jun. she is another person he could lose and he knows deep down he would be happier without her #but being near her bring back to life smth that died years ago at the bottom of that cliff #and he wont admit it but hes scared to lose it again. even if right now its brings him nothing but discomfort and pain #hes not even sure if he *loves* her. and when he asks her whats in it for her. why she stays with him #(not out of self-consciousness but genuine confusion) she just smiles at him because he IS considering the feelings of someone else #like she is so understanding and he genuinely does try and its a really slow healing process #hes still gonna stay a little bit of a prick smug at times but at least he will be immensely more chill out #and even maybe fall in love with jun *jun* down the line. characters that fall in love with each other years into the relationship👍#and his whole exploration of fatherhood with jin. him vaguely recalling smth nice jinpachi (or god forbid. HEIHACHI pre-cliff) did to him #and doing the same to jin out of the blue for the sake of experimentation #and jin's positive reaction making him FINALLY AT LAST feel some tiny tiny thing for his son.#also for all her tree-hugger talk. jun is right meditating in the forest DOES help kaz a lot #anyway. yeah👍#tagging later #tekken

I hate when stories have a magic cure all spell. At least have there be caveats. It feels like a cheap excuse not to have disabled people in your world.

If you wanna have a spell to restore limbs, fine. But maybe make it so it requires the removed limb in question or something. Make it so healing spells can’t automatically fix chronic illness. Let your characters be disabled for goodness sake.
