It's heartening sometimes to realize how incredibly ordinary historical figures looked. If you watch a bunch of period dramas, you come away thinking that history was made exclusively by shockingly attractive people---when actually, famous poets with burnished names look more like Jim, The Local Bank Manager; artists who broke the mold wouldn't look out of place scrolling through their phone on the subway. You could walk past the absurdly wealthy doyennes of society in the grocery store and never give them a second glance.

Tanizaki is a totally normal dude except for how he has superpowers and nearly succeeded in murdering the boss of the biggest crime organization in Yokohoma and was later totally willing to join said organization because his coworker didn't want to and is "closer to 'evil'" than a ex-mafia executive that has killed hundreds of people and claims to be the brother of a girl he's clearly had sex with that looks nothing like him. He's a perfectly average teenager that happens to be a wanted terrorist and has previously flown a helicopter and is willing to commit atrocities for his 'sister'. He has no Tragic Backstory or anything he's Just Some Guy.
