Few things to keep in mind that concern me:

•"The ICJ’s rules require the petitioning nation to show that a dispute exists with the country it is accusing, and that they have tried to address it before approaching the court. This to me is very concerning because I think in the case of a Genocide we should not be like "damn sorry we can't say/do anything in the matter because nobody formal disputed them before the case" there is enough evidence to show a genocide and the fact a lot of ppl around the world protested against and voted against should be used as more than an excuse for addressing the fucking issue of the genocide.

• This is a provisional case so not only does it need to have jurisdiction on the matter but also final ruling can take years (if the they do have jurisdiction then this allows for there to be done something like aid and put legal obligation to end the slaughter. This is what the provisional case is good for, my concern is just the fact the final ruling can take years.)

• The timing for trials etc, for every day that is spent on not being able to send help everyone is getting sick and hungry, Isnotreal stopped the aid of children's insulin, women don't have sanitation products for periods, men are making bread from animal fodder, IT IS FUCKING WINTER, when it rains tents flood.

Even if the ICJ's verdict is that Isnotreal is legally bound to stop the attacks on gaza, they are not allowed to enforce it but the ICC can get involved by being sent to trial for that. Again, more time waiting.

Good things to remember, I know it's a lot I just put out there that are very concerning things but:

•The ICC is allowed to physically get involved in the case that they continue their attacks

•We will never forget what they have done. We have the power to continue to speak up and do what we have been doing until there is proper justice

•like I said before even if the final ruling takes years there could be something done now to stop what's happening in Gaza.

• The lies Isnotreal stated on their case can not be held up as truths since there has been so much evidence.

An example: they stated that they were not destroying buildings and civilian homes that it was "Hamas putting booby traps"(yes thats exactly how they put it and they didnt provide pictures/evidence for this). Yet recently we saw the news of 21 of their soldiers being killed because they were setting bombs in buildings.

•Lastly the global strike still has a couple days left, do what you can. If you can protest, call representatives etc. Start getting involved in boycotts and uphold them past the global strike date. Start using the #feed north of gaza, on as many platforms as possible.

so for them to be conjunct in aries rn on a collective scale has ppl addressing & healing their personal wounds (aries represents Self, the body, root chakra) but also feeling compelled to take action, since aries/mars really is about Doing It. And on a global scale in the past few months we've seen ppl working relentlessly hard to free palestine, as aries/mars also rules over war.. to me i feel the escalation of the genocide is part of the chiron wound, & people all over the world finally being unable to deny the reality of the carnage, the awful realizations the lead to action in ending this decades long nightmare once and for all.. that's how i see it. obviously its not over yet but seems to be at a boiling point. this is very simplified explanation so i hope it doesn't come off as insensitive, not my intention

Once again i must bring up Michael bc yes his status and fortune and so on but at the end of the day him, E.Taylor, Princess Diana and Dolly Parton were some of the only celebrities that actually Gave A Fuck. Dolly reformed her entire birth town and directly funded schools in the South, Miss Taylor funded and fought for HIV/AIDS research during the height of the crisis and throughout the rest of her life and is financially a large part of the reason why it got so far , so did Diana among the many other things she did (that idk off the top of my head).

And Michael was doing all these things and much more. AND he wrote multiple songs directly referencing and condemning genocide, wrote a Pro-Palestine poem that he planned to release. Indirectly disses Is-not-rael in "Earth Song"(yet another reason why it's one of the best most important songs ever recorded but that's for another post). Stopped showing up to the Grammy awards bc theyre racist and started showing up to only Black award shows for a while such as BET and Soul Train awards to promote them and boost their viewership. It took him, Lionel Richie and Harry Belafonte conceptualizing and co-writing We Are The World to get other celebs and the general public to Give A Fuck and raise money for the hunger crisis in 1985. Opened his estate to the public even when he wasn't there so that inner-city, sick and terminally-ill families and children could enjoy it. Actually put his money where is mouth was and donated an estimated 500 million dollars to almost 3 thousand different causes and that's NOT counting modern inflation nor what he gave or did anonymously. When he died, a church service was held in Illinois where they printed the causes he supported one line at a time and the paper was so long that it rolled out of the chapel. And that is just scratching the surface of what he did.

That previous post is exactly right except that it's always been that way because at the end of the day for the vast majority of ppl once u hit a certain level of notoriety u lose ur soul and it is replaced by Need To Make Profit. Some thoughts (mostly reaching) about Snow on the beach (ft. Midnight rain).

Ig some of those takes were discussed before but I need to get those thoughts out of my mind so yeah.

When my dear Spotify decided to play SOTB after Midnight rain my attention *finally* was caught by the fact that Taylor used "midnight rain" to describe herself but her feeling for her lover(or their feelings/love in general) she described as a "snow at the beach". I found it interesting cause basically, we can describe snow as frozen rain. So here I'd assume that Taylor is also part of this "snow", she transformed into it. In this context firstly I want to point out a super obvious thing. Midnight rain or even rain on the beach is a more common natural phenomenon than snow on the beach. So ig it can mean that this love from SOTB is something even more unique cause it seems extraordinary (maybe even greater) compared to any other experience Tay had. Or it made her feel greater and unique. Next point is that transformation from one physical state to another aka water(rain) to crystals (snow) may be a metaphor of a personal transformation. The question is what does it mean? Which difference between snow and water? I thought abt it and for me, one thing stands out: snow reflects light much better than rain does (that's why snow is white and raindrops - transparent). This can mean that in this relationship Taylor (and probably her partner) reflects love, and feelings better. I like to think that "reflect" here means that they are not just consuming(receiving) love from each other but also giving it back. Also in terms of having color(snow) and being transparent (rain), this metaphor can mean that she is feeling more seen in this relationship. Here my take based on the possibility of a connection between SOTB and midnight rain ends and it's time for SOTB solo.

Firstly, I heard a lot of interpretations of "snow at the beach" as a way to say that this love was destinated to "melt" aka to end. And I can see where it's coming from but now I wanna talk about the full process of circulation of water. We all heard abt it, so long story short, in the end snow will evaporate, form clouds in the sky, and snow/or rain again. So it also can mean this love is destinated to come back no matter what. Like it's how the world works. Yeah kinda forevermore vibes and I like it.

One more thing that keeps me awake at night is that Tay mentioned snow and aurora borealis in one song and it obviously screams Antarctica. Actually, for me Antarctica is something that can be associated with Kaylor's relationship especially with all this "blackout" period. Antarctica is smth almost uninhabited (if we talk abt humans), far from other continents (I can say hidden in some way?), some counties claim parts of the lands, but other countries (including the US) don't recognize those claims, so ig it's safe to say that Antarctica doesn't belong to any country. Also, it's something unknown and unexplored for most of the ppl and that makes it kinda magical and mysterious, fits the isolation "take me to the lakes" vibe and technically snow at the beach is a very common thing in Antarctica. At the same time, it's in constant danger cause of global warming and stuff. Yeah, I can find some similarities between the description( or rather vibes) of Antarctica and Taylor's and Karlie's relationship.

Fun fact abt Antarctica is that time kinda works differently there (change of day-night specifically). We have such terms as Polar day and Polar night. It's when the sun doesn't set(day) or rise (night) for more than 24 hours (usually it lasts for a few months). So basically Antarctica is about constant daylight for days (months) but at the same time, it's about dark nights for days as well. Also at the South Pole itself days and nights last for almost 6 months each, so in this context "One night a few moons ago" can mean a few years ago. Btw, there is another popular term for "Polar Day" - "Midnight Sun" and in Antarctica day time occurs December which is fun ig.

So, there aren’t many rules, (with selecting the team) with World Cup you usually support your national team (short nt or seleção in Portuguese) but that can change sometimes.

With a football club (ex: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Flamengo, River Plate, FC Milan, Bayern Munchen) is usually a very emotional identification/vibes thing. I don’t know where you live or how or your local league works, but if you can’t find a club that you wanna support and be a fan of some ppl choose to support an international football club.

Check the major national leagues (Brasileirão, La Liga, Ligue 1, Primera División, Premier League, Bundesliga, Campeonato Nacional AFP PlanVital) and the continental cups (Champions League, Copa Libertadores da América, Europa League, Copa Sulamericana) current and past editions to get to know the teams, their history and vibes

World Cup normally happens during the global north summer, in July, but FIFA made this awful decision of hosting it in Qatar so we having it in November, which fucked up the entire football season around the world.

In the north, a new season starts in the end of summer, has a winter break and ends at the begging of the next summer. Here in the south it works with our seasons, so it begins around the middle of our summer: February, march, and it ends in November, our winter.

Of course it’s easier to support a local/national football club, but it’s not impossible to support an international one. My team Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, has the largest amount of fans in Brazil and in the world, so we are everywhere.

When it comes to learning about the sport itself, the rules, how it works practically and so on, like I said, watching the World Cup is an amazing time to see the the best of the what sport has to offer! The narrators and commentators know that the general public is watching so they always explain the rules, and you can check wikis and stuff for the the proper written stuff while you check how it translates in the field. It’s also great to get to know the players, which club they play for and potential clubs to check when the football season begins again. We are currently in the group fase of the World Cup and have up to 4 matches a day!

Teams play one match against the other teams in their group and the top two teams with the most points from each group advance to the knockout stage.

A victory equals three points.

A draw equals one point.

A loss equals no points.

If the top two teams are tied in points, the first place team is the team with a higher goal differential (the difference between how many goals a team conceded and scored in its games) or whichever team won the head-to-head matchup. 

The first place team of a group goes on to play the second place team of another group (and vice versa) in the first knockout stage, also known as the round of 16. Then the number of teams gets cut to eight, then four in the next stage, then to two, who will play in the final on Sunday Dec. 18. A third place match between the losers of the semi-final games will be played the day before.

hey I am not intersex but I have a question regarding the topic of a lack of representative language and terminology within the intersex community. specifically, I am wondering how many ppl in that recent discussion are from the global north? not to conflate being intersex with necessarily being queer or trans, but it came to my mind just now how the sub-Saharan African LGBT community/movement appeared to almost strictly use the acronym LGBTI or LGBTIA to describe itself in its infancy. Africa as a continent, with the slight exception of South Africa, is still very new to having queer communities but when we finally began forming support systems and advocating for ourselves, it seems organizers very much pushed or at least preferred to have intersex representation at the forefront of representation. I actually think I'm seeing the I being phased out in larger online queer spaces that include Africans in recent years, unfortunately, instead being replaced by LGBTQ. I identify as queer but like... idk that doesn't sit right with me. it's probably the result of modern day sexual minority discussion and advocacy being heavily influenced (for better and for worse) by Western/global north language and culture. :/

so i suppose my question is, have English-speaking intersex folks on Tumblr (which can become kind of echo-y between/dominated by the US and Canada; it just is what it is) looked to the global south's intersex terminology or advocacy groups and how they discuss themselves? I am not at all claiming they aren't having the same problem it's just... the internet feels big, but language and national barriers and vacuums like this exist and I think it's very common that similar groups from very different places miss out on supporting and empowering one another because of it. food for thought, perhaps? what countries have a longer history of intersex representation and advocacy, regardless of their level of mainstream visibility? which cultures? and how have they talked about their experiences, how have they developed their own terms?

oh and I hope it's clear I'm not saying people should just drop in and co-opt other cultures' intersex community's terminologies (history and context always matter), but I wonder if there's something to be learned this way? I hope this is a reasonable question and not insensitive. I really appreciate this blog and everyone who speaks about their experiences and struggles; it's important that we all strive to learn about and from one another, continuously, and this blog and the people who engage with it have taught me a lot just in the couple months I've been following you.

Thank you so much for this question. I think you raise so many good points that are VITAL to address in the intersex community. It’s really true that the intersex community on tumblr is overwhelmingly people from the US and Canada, and I think a lot of the lenses that we use to discuss intersex language, terminology, and intercommunity issues are so influenced and mostly focused on US and Canadian intersex issues, which is honestly a problem! Like on one hand it makes sense that intersex conversations on here would be mostly involving American people since I feel like tumblr is overwhelmingly American, but I think that there needs to be more of a good faith attempt to look at and intentionally create spaces for international solidarity. I think that’s something that we really need to be aware of is that when we’re talking about intersex issues, we really need to steer clear of making overarching generalizations about what the “intersex experience” is or acting like American language preferences are inherently the standard. The intersex community on here is also so white, and there is a lot of issues with racism within the intersex community here-you really see white intersex voices getting prioritized over intersex people of color, and that’s a huge issue that we need to actively fight against. 

And honestly like I think there is also a trend just to focus on American intersex activism, when there are sucessful intersex activist organizations doing important work world wide. And it’s important to recognize and support demands and issues that are more regional-for instance, a key part of the statement made by African Intersex Movement in 2017 is calling for an end to intersex infantcide, which is not a demand that most American intersex organizations are making. And I think really robust intersex solidarity requires looking at issues that affect us world wide, and looking at how to incorporate that into our activism. 

You’re really right that we should be looking more to the global south and considering and developing some of our understandings based not just on American experiences, but also looking and learning from intersex organizations internationally. For instance, I know there’s been a strong intersex organization since 2000 in South Africa started by Sally Gross, which was quite a while before InterAct started really doing activism, and I think there’s so much to learn from people who have been doing the work for longer. Our resources page does have a list of intersex organizations broken down by country, which might be a good starting place to start to look at and learn about what unique issues intersex people in other countries have, and look at the amazing activism and important work that intersex people from outside of the global north are doing. We have so much to learn from eachother and I think acting like we don’t have anything to learn from intersex people outside of America is such an issue, and a perspective heavily influenced by white supremacy and xenophobia. 

This is getting a little long lmao, but to answer your question-honestly, I really don’t think most intersex people in the tumblr community are considering the global south in conversations about intersex issues, community, and language. (this is a little different in spaces off tumblr-I’m in some intersex spaces that have a lot of people from different countries, but these spaces are still English speaking.) And I think that’s something we should change! I’m going to post this ask as a call in for the intersex community on here-how can we change the way we approach intersex community issues? How can we work to deconstruct the idea that American intersex issues and scholarship are the standard? How can we learn from intersex activists and people from other countries-especially countries in the Global south, especially Africa-and how can we fight against the way we might have internalized racism and xenophobia that leads us to view intersex work from those countries as less important? How can we decenter whiteness in our intersex conversations? 

I’m not going to pretend that I have answers to all these questions, but I think it’s vital that we’re working on and addressing these questions, and building intersex spaces that intentionally make space for diverse intersex experiences, and that honor intersex work that is from other countries than America. 

I know I’m going to commit to doing more research to broaden my perspective going forward, and I’d like to invite other intersex people following me to do the same.

it’s interesting because it’s definitely not a simple shrinking based on individual fantasies, it’s entire industries built to reinforce white fantasies about korea for interest, for sympathy, for money. korea has had this mentality since like the late 1800s that the mighty and just democratic united states could lend us their strength and see our suffering and we will be one day be free. this fantasy was thoroughly and repeatedly shattered starting from like the march first movement (the sam-il movement) in 1919 where the people did mass protests to beg the u.s. for humanitarian assistance against the colonial japanese government. but of course we didn’t know yet that they’d made a deal with japan that japan can have korea if the u.s. can take the philippines. and THEN in 1950 the u.s. like destroyed our entire physical landmass and took control over the southern half of the peninsula and forcibly continued that old narrative that the mighty united states has heard the pleas of the korean people are have swooped in to save us. and so global-facing korean media is still stuck in that pattern of appealing to white narratives about korea to try and bring in money to improve the living conditions of the korean people. when that has never been the truth. and then there’s the new genre of fuckin zionist israeli academic scholarship calling south korea utopian and cementing racist narratives about palestinian people! literally i read a peer reviewed academic journal about it that made me want to vomit!

보고 싶어/bogoshippeo means ‘i miss you’, an informal, casual tone that you can use freely to significant others, friends, families, it literally means ‘i want to see you’ but essentially, it means, ‘i miss you’, here, though, namjoon used 보고 싶다/bogoshipda, which is also an informal word, but a non-conjugated form of 보고 싶어/bogoshippeo, it holds a slightly different meaning than just ‘i miss you’ because it’s not a verb. 보고 싶다/bogoshipda for lack of better words, is an expression of longing, and carries a deeper emotion than just i miss you, kinda like a monologue (?) cos he’s not saying it to someone in particular, the expression feels a bit colder, which is ironic cos then he went on about how cold time is for making him missing someone.

설국열차 is the korean title for the movie ‘snowpiercer’, also the name of the train in the movie that holds the last remnants of humanity after an attempt at climate engineering in order to stop global warming has unintentionally created a new ice age. essentially, ppl in the train thought no life can exist outside of the train, not knowing there is (a polar bear), which showed up at the end of the movie. i thought it was brilliant how namjoon referenced this movie, it’s like he’s saying no matter how hard circumstances can be, no matter how hard you think you have it, there is always hope, there is always a way out, there’s always spring after a cold cold winter, even when it seems impossible, you can have your cake and eat it

the lyrics in this song isn’t that hard to comprehend tbh it’s quite straightforward but the way they express it is both poetry and cynicism at its best, and despite the repetitive chorus the song is atcually quick and full, leaving nothing short of amazement.

I am planning on switching car insurance providers b/c: 1.) My car got stolen 01/25/2013 and I only had liability coverage (car was a 1996 Nissan Maxima) 2.) With that money I put a down payment on a used car this past weekend b/c now I truly had no car 4.) I now need full coverage to my current policy and replace the old car with the newer one but the 6-month premium is too high. I got into a car accident in May 2012 and it was my fault. No one was hurt and no air bags deployed. My insurance paid the damages. This is a post about my thoughts on the recent released song of the famous kpop boygroup BTS, “Spring Day”. The song is so sad and it left me a big impression and it also didn’t helped when I just watched the MV and their stage performances.

Before I start, I just wanted to make clear that I am not an ARMY (fandom of BTS) but I am a fan and I really respect the boys :)

Do listen the music while reading this! (I made this article while listening to the song, it helps in making me put more emotions on this post).

I miss you When I say that it makes me miss you more I’m looking at your photo but I still miss you Time is so cruel I hate us Now it’s hard to even see each other’s faces

First line of the song already made me want to cry. The way RapMon sang it holds a lot of sorrow in his tone, I can definitely feel the emotion of the song.

보고 싶어 (bogoshippeo) means “i miss you” in korean but in a informal tone. Meaning that RapMon is talking to someone who is very close to him, a friend or a family. Yet the way RapMon sang used 보고 싶다 (bogoshipda) which holds a deeper emotion and longing rather than “bogoshippeo”.

This place is all winter, even in august winter comes it’s like my heart/mind races with time the lonely ‘snowpiercer’ who travelled to the south (i want to) while holding your hands, go all the way to the other side of the earth i wish i could end this winter, i wonder, friend, how much does the longing should fall like snow for spring day to come? 

I think this verse talks about on how much longer will he hold the longing in himself. Winter is known for its coldness, which is maybe a metaphor about the coldness he feels missing his friend. 

I also did a little research and bump myself into a theory from byeoltan.tumblr.com which explains that “ 설국열차 is the korean title for the movie ‘snowpiercer’, also the name of the train in the movie that holds the last remnants of humanity after an attempt at climate engineering in order to stop global warming has unintentionally created a new ice age. essentially, ppl in the train thought no life can exist outside of the train, not knowing there is (a polar bear), which showed up at the end of the movie. i thought it was brilliant how namjoon referenced this movie, it’s like he’s saying no matter how hard circumstances can be, no matter how hard you think you have it, there is always hope, there is always a way out, there’s always spring after a cold cold winter”

Okay, this line made me go “woah, is the friend dead?” which also made my heart swell and like forcing my eyes to release some tears. It just shows on how he regretted himself that if only he was a bit faster, maybe he could’ve reached his friend earlier.

This part made me think whether the friend was gone at the end of the winter or maybe at a day in spring. Which clicked a something inside of me, it’s a little bit of relatable to the Sewol tragedy.  8:49 a.m. of April 16, 2014 (which is in the spring season), the ship made a sharp turn, turning more than 10 degrees within one second, according to the ship's Blackbox. The ship was carrying 476 passengers, as well as several trucks and container cargoes. Vast majority of the passengers--325 to be exact--were second grade students from Danwon High School, a high school in Ansan, a suburb of Seoul.  174 out of the 476 survived. Although it’s just an assumption. For what I know so far, BTS didn’t confirm whether the song it relates about the tragedy or not (since this topic is really controversial to the country and might make them blacklisted - they even kept their and the company’s 100M won donation to the sewol ferry tragedy a secret)

Suga’s part is where a single tear dropped from my eye (no joke) this part obviously tells that they shouldn’t keep on holding on to the feeling of longing to them and that they should just let go. It’s that bittersweet sadness feeling of “I’d rather forget you and be empty rather than remember you and be lonely” feeling. And then comes the next part where Jin and Jimin didn’t help when they sang

I know how hard it feels of wanting to let someone go but you still can’t because he or she is someone so close to you and that that person also gave a big contribution to yourself’s life.

Guys, this last part doesn’t really help on calming myself throughout the song. V says that it’s just not a friend that he lost but a bestfriend (cue the tears). And he’s making it sure that even any sufferings has an ending to it.

What I did notice though that they always repeat the last part (not just because it’s a chorus) but maybe because they wanted to emphasize that “stay there and wait for me and let’s end this suffering together”
