Athos *to one of the cadets*: the correct thing to say would be "I have a hypothesis" not "I have a theory". a theory, unlike a hypothesis, is something that has been proven already.
Aramis: I love it when he says something like that
Porthos:
Porthos: what is wrong with you?
Aramis: hey, no kink-shaming!

Hi hi Vera! 💜 For the fic ask game, any or all of the below!
🍥 What's your favorite fic you've written?
🍛 Have any comments, tags or reactions to one of your fics every made you laugh or cry or both?
And my own question (which you totally don't have to answer!), which is:
🥙 Do have any big or small parts of any already published fics that you'd like to go back and change/expound upon/turn in a different direction?
My best!
🍥 What's your favorite fic you've written?
This is a hard one, not because I love all my fics, but because there are two I’m especially fond of that I think are really well written. Considering, I’ve posted (checks AO3) 84 (!) fics, I’m going to allow myself two.
My favorite one shot is definitely my first Athelar (Vikings) fic, Weaving.
My favorite multi-chapter fic is my my longest Louis/Philippe (Versailles) fic, A Slow Eclipse.
🍛 Have any comments, tags or reactions to one of your fics every made you laugh or cry or both?
I have received sooooo many lovely comments over the years, and somehow I’ve managed to ensnared a few loyal readers, and I have to call out 3 of them.
@loveel-who I’m pretty sure is the only person who has read everything I’ve written, and she’s so wonderful about leaving comments. Even if it’s a fandom she doesn’t know, I give her some quick background and maybe a gif, and she dives in and loves it. She’s the best and always tells me my smut hot.
@automaticdreamlandkid doesn’t just leaves comments. She leaves these giant walls of text screaming about every single thing she likes in the fic, and every one of these comments makes me giddy.
@storyskein has often been my enabler and someone who has kindly helped me with fics, even when it’s not her fandom. But she also left what might be my favorite comment ever, and I’m not sure if it made me cry, but I get a little choked up when I think about it. Her comment on Weaving said, “for all the amazing smut on this site, erotic joy is actually really rare, and you captured it.”
🥙 Do have any big or small parts of any already published fics that you'd like to go back and change/expound upon/turn in a different direction?
When I first started posting fic, I absolutely did NOT know what I was doing. For a long time, I toyed with going back to my original Athamis (The Musketeers) series The Debts We Make, and rather than being a slightly disjointed series, I wanted to make it a proper multi-chapter fic that was more novel-shaped than the slightly random thing it is. I never did, but part of me still thinks it would be an interesting exercise.
Thanks so much for asking! Others can feel free to drop me asks from this list.

December 2022 and Masters student Aramis has a lot on his mind and looming deadlines. What he really doesn’t need is to be continually bumping into an irritable stranger while trying to solve a decades-old mystery his impetuous friend just dropped in his lap. Not this close to the festive season.
This gift fic forms part of the Musketeers Secret Solstice, and was written for SaKha (aka @lead-acetate). It is probably the soppiest thing I've ever written, and does bear a passing resemblance to Hallmark Christmas Movies, only a lot queerer, obviously...

all you want from me now is the green light of forgiveness
26. forgiveness
Portamis background. Athamis make up. not polyamory negotiations, but like,,, sort of.
And we finish this little piece. Tomorrow… OT3. :)
Athos fiddles with his phone, not really looking at it. Just flipping it in his hand, occasionally waking the screen and looking at the time without seeing it.
The door opens for the 5th, 8th, 12th time and Athos hates that he is keeping count. He stops looking at 13, and 14 is when Aramis comes in.
“I’m sorry I’m late. I had to- It doesn’t matter. I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine,” Athos says, not looking up. He is afraid to look up at him, even as Aramis takes his seat. They are quiet for a long time.
“I hate to push you, but… I don’t know why we’re here. Otherwise I’d start the conversation.”
“I thought you were going to break up with me.” Athos responds suddenly and looks at Aramis for the first time. He has to bite the bullet. He can’t beat this bush. “That day, in the restaurant. I thought you were going to break up with me. I wanted to… I wanted to feel like it was my choice.”
Aramis is quiet. Athos returns to his phone, flipping and flipping and flipping it.
“So when you said you didn’t want to be with me anymore…?”
“A lie.” Athos shrugs, doesn’t look up.
They are quiet and Athos keeps flipping his phone in his hand. When Aramis reaches out Athos’ phone hits the table with a soft thunk that makes Athos wince.
“I need you to look at me Athos.” Aramis sets a boundary and Athos respects it, like he’s always respected Aramis’ boundaries. He looks up at eyes that used to keep him afloat but now drown him and he tries to look strong. To be strong.
“Why are you telling me this now?”
It’s a fair question. They broke up almost two months ago, now. It’s a strange thing to bring up.
“Sylvie said something. I felt like I needed to tell you.”
“Good old Sylvie.” Aramis withdrew his hand and Athos felt it’s absence like rubbing alcohol poured over him, evaporating and taking all his heat with it. “She’s always been an intuitive one.” Aramis smiled, looking down at his own hands now. “I wasn’t going to break up with you.”
Athos had thought, maybe, after Sylvie insisted they talk, that that might be the case, but hearing it is something different. Something… transcendent. He is joyous and mournful at once.
He can’t contain himself.
He has to contain himself.
“I thought that… You were getting very close to Porthos.”
Aramis scrubs a hand down his face, rubs his beard. “I was. I am. I… I should’ve told you it was going that way a long time before I did. Maybe then…” He looked at Athos and he’s smiling, but it’s so sad. “Maybe things would have been different.”
All at once Athos’ hope for a reconciliation is dashed. Again, he can’t contain himself. Again he has to anyway.
“Maybe,” is all Athos says in return, looking away from Aramis to the door as it opens for the 15th time since he’d sat in his uncomfortable, stiff chair and he willed himself to look unaffected. As neutral as he could manage.
Athos poker face was always remarkable, a side effect of growing up in an unloving home, he supposed, where any sign of weakness was needled and prodded and eventually cut to bleed you dry.
Aramis takes a deep breath. “Athos, I need you to tell me what you want from me right now, because I don’t want to push you somewhere you don’t want to go, but I can’t guess what you want. Not now.”
Athos stays quiet.
“I’m afraid that what I want would be too much to ask for, given the circumstances.”
Athos doesn’t know how, but this is apparently an invitation, and Aramis touches his face, grazes his cheek softly with rough fingertips and gently coaxes Athos to meet his eyes. Athos looks, even though he doesn’t want to. He looks and he doesn’t want to see the love and understanding in Aramis’ eyes. Feels like he doesn’t deserve it, not after what he’s done. Aramis holds his gaze steady, three, four, five seconds, and then slowly, so slowly, tilts his head to one side and leans in, over their hands that are now brushing on the table and kisses him.
Athos feels like he is able to take air into his lungs for the first time in two months, like a chain has been unwrapped from his chest and it can expand again, like his heart can beat again, when Aramis kisses him in that soft tentative way like they had before they’d been certain that this would go anywhere.
Aramis’s lips are warm and they give softly against his. Aramis hand finds his and holds it. Athos can’t help but clasp it back, tightly, needily, desperate to have back two months worth of deprivation and starvation and loneliness from just that touch.
“Come home with me.”
“Are you cheating with me?” Athos asked, and Aramis smiled.
“Porthos always intended for us to be polyamorous, if you consented to it. You and I had never discussed anything more than casual sex, but Porthos set very thorough limits. All the way up to having multiple relationships.
“Multiple relationships…” Athos feels a little dazed when he repeats it.
“That day, in the restaurant, I was going to butter you up with your favorite wine, and good food, take you home and have really really great sex, and then ask very sweetly how you felt about us dating multiple people.”
“Well, there’s still time for some of that.”
“I think there’s still time for all of it, in due course.” Aramis leans in and kisses Athos on the mouth again. “But I have missed you, and I know which one I want first.”
When Athos throws bills down on the counter to cover food they haven’t received, this time, Aramis has hold of his hand and they leave together. They don’t look back, but they keep looking at each other.
“I don’t think I ever said it,” Athos says into the quiet place where their breath mingles between them while their skin is still touching, heated and sweat slick. “That I was sorry. For lying. For leaving.”
Aramis smiled softly. “I’m sorry I didn’t say something sooner. As soon as I had suspicions I should have…” Aramis sighed and twined his hand with Athos’ bringing it up to rest the back of Athos’ hand over his own sternum, letting Athos feel the steady beat of his heart. “I’m just glad there is peace between us again.”
Athos closed his eyes and followed the touch of Aramis thumb as it stroked his hand in his mind’s eyes, narrowing his attention down to the places where they touched, where he felt Aramis creeping back into him and making a home in the place where his heart was.
“For me, there is only you,” Athos says quietly, and when Aramis does not tense, he continues. “But I would never begrudge you happiness. If dating Porthos makes you happy, I want that for you.”
“Okay. I’ll tell him.” Athos’ eyes are closed, so he can’t see the smile on Aramis’ face, but he can hear it as plainly as if his eyes were open. His whole chest is filled with love for one single man.
Athos takes Aramis’ hip in his hand when he starts to turn away. “Right now?”
“He’s been waiting to hear from me.” Aramis says, not the least bit defensive.
Athos aquiesces and let’s Aramis roll away from him, listening to him grab his phone off the floor where it was still in his jeans pocket.
“Porthos, darling.” Athos opens his eyes and is amused to find that Aramis is calling his other lover from the bed they’d just shared. “I have the most wonderful news.” He smiled into the phone and reached for Athos’

Athos's laughter is soft enough to not echo around the otherwise empty room and, in a show of childishness, he throws a little ball made of compacted breadcrumbs into his husband's direction, which impacts cleanly in the middle of his chest and gets lost beneath the table.

Musketeers The Mummy AU that I bothered everyone on the server with:
Athos as a jaded, tired af deserter/ex soldier
Constance as a brilliant archaeologist who is stuck with a librarian's job
Aramis as her goofy, but actually Very Serious and Protective Brother if you care to look beyond his happy-go-lucky persona
Porthos as the Hot AF Leader of the Medjai
Treville as Constance's Extremely Tired Boss who is constantly begging Constance and Aramis not to destroy the library please and thanks
D'Artagnan is the good version of Benny. He doesn't leave Athos, okay?
Imagine Porthos with those sexy tattoos on his face
Plot Twist: Athos O'Connell doesn't fall for Constance Carnahan (brilliant as she is) but her brother, Aramis
Extra Plot Twist: Porthos Bay is soon added to the mix and this leads to an OT3
@lemissingmask proposed Richelieu as Imhotep
This implies that the Normal Librarian desperately trying to lead a Normal Life is actually his lover reincarnated:
Aka Treville
The last couple of points can lead to either extreme comedy or extreme angst (your choice really)
It is definitely going to lead to Extreme Chaos though

Athos: I can't really use the "I want to do something stupid - I'm stupid, do me" line with Aramis because of two things. Firstly, Aramis never announces when he's about to do something unadvisable, just does it. Secondly, whenever I say "I'm stupid"--
Aramis: *barges in*
Aramis: have I just heard you calling yourself stupid??? Athos, we've talked about this! you're brilliant and worthy of love! this is just your self-deprecating bias talking. do you want me to list the numerous instances when you showed anything but stupidity? we will smash this fucking cognitive trap together, Athos.
Athos: --this happens.

was taking some notes down on my copy of T3M last night, and was reminded that book!Aramis canonically writes poetry, so now I will be thinking of bbc!Aramis doing the same.
Some headcanons about it:
He started writing poems for Isabel when they were sappy horny teens in love. He'd write the sappiest, most flowery and romantic verses to her and recite them to her while they lay in his father's sprawling gardens in a field of flowers.
He stopped for a few years, after Isabel was taken away (as he thought) and he ran away from home, because it hurt too much to try. He started again a few months after meeting Porthos.
He wrote short verses for Porthos but never really showed them to him. Porthos found out accidentally and thought it was about one of Aramis' mistresses, which Aramis didn't correct because he was embarrassed.
He doesn't actually write poetry for his mistresses. Not even for Adele. He may quote poetry to them (Shakespeare for example) but he only writes his own about the people closest to his heart (Porthos and Athos, and later Anne). He's wrote a platonic one for Constance too! She keeps it tucked inside her favourite book.
He's super shy about reciting any of them out loud, or even showing them to the individual they're meant for (except Constance, because with her it wasn't romantic, so he felt way more comfortable).
He has an entire notebook filled with the most romantic, heart-aching, pining poems about Anne. He shows her only after he becomes First Minister, because he really thought those where the things he'd never be allowed to tell her.
Waxes poetic when he's drunk, and out of the four Inseparables, he has the lowest alcohol tolerance (yes, even lower than little d'Artagnan!), so it's... a spectacle.

So we are done with yet another Krishna Janmashtmi (also known as Gokulasthmi, Sri Jayanthi). Chapter: 22/24, in which more than dice are thrown as our heroes each take their chances.
Well, small apologies for a) this being a few days late, b) it being another amoeba chapter. I explain a little more in the end notes, but basically: I’m Having A Time at the moment, which naturally impacts creativity. Anyway, enjoy! Less angst, and more hijinks than previous chapters.

Summary: Aramis likes to be polite. And friendly. But he always seems to be at odds with Athos, in subtle (or not-so-subtle) ways. In different circumstances he’d have a better chance of knowing what to do, but this is a working relationship between fighting men, one of them notoriously reticent. If only Athos wouldn’t keep making references to Classical Greek literature, leading Aramis’s ever-fertile imagination into places it should not go.
Updates twice a week: midweek and weekends.
