KNEE REHAB with progression.

The biggest problem one faces after knee injury is restoring movement.
After undergoing surgery or recovery from injury, it is hard to extend the knee fully. Giving it more time causes further rigidity and the mind muscle connection is lost unless it is restored smartly using simple techniques.

TERMINAL KNEE EXTENSION (TKE):
Loop a rubber band around the back of your knee and a pole. Band should not be loose and it should also not be too tense but enough tense that the knee is bent. From this bent knee position, start to extend your knee with the quadriceps muscle. Initially, extend gradually with a mini band and progress to a heavier band with a higher volume of TKEs.

SQUATS WITH TKEs:
Once you are able to extend your knee with the TKE, start incorporating compound movements that require the knees to extend to finish the movement for example squats and lunges. Always look for full lockout of the knees.

GOBLET SQUATS WITH TKEs:
Now that you have restored knee extension and have incorporated movement with a TKE, it is time to load up and build strength. Goblet Squats with full knee extensions will further facilitate powerful lockout in a loaded compound movement.

Money matters but how much? They say money doesn’t buy happiness which is true but it does contribute to your quality of life (both good and bad). There are those who have very little money and are the happiest people. And there are those with a lot of money who are miserable. Why? Once you have a roof over your head, food to eat and some clothes to wear, how much more do you need? We see people on TV and social media who seem to have so much. We envy the life we perceive them to have but will having more truly make us happy? We get caught up in the pursuit of money for things that have little value. Don’t get me wrong, money can provide peace of mind but the cost of chasing it can make us unhealthy and unhappy. So if money doesn’t make you happy then what does? Arthur Brooks says; FAITH, FAMILY, COMMUNITY and WORK. And by work he means “earned success”. That is - creating value in your life and the lives of others through work. Research shows that over 80% of Americans like or love their work. So as long as you are not poor, as long as you have the basic necessities, more money will not make you happier. 💰

“It’s all my fault”. Ok maybe not all of it, but I know I’m responsible for my actions and choices. Sure, there are things that happen or things others do that are beyond our control but let’s admit, we are responsible for our actions. Once we admit that to ourselves, we can let go the blame, anger, resentment and toxicity that leads to further bad decisions and actions. We all make mistakes. In most cases, it’s not the mistake that is the problem it’s how we think/feel about what happened which leads to more negative thoughts which leads to more negative actions. It’s about being self aware and having the humility to say “it’s my fault”. When we hold ourselves accountable for what happens in our lives rather than blaming others, we become empowered to make change. 💪🏿
