You have no idea holy carp holy carp theres this one atlantic salmon migrating at the same time as me,,,, says we're going to the same river,,, her sides are such a gorgeous rich chestnut colour and shes so large compared to me and her belly accentuates her curves and shape in the best way! Her scales are so shiny too? Shes practically glowing!!! Ngl I really hate how barren fish representation actually is :( There's two types of fish ever. Fish and shark and sometimes ray. They always show generic fishes only, like nonspecific fishes with one or two primary colours plastered on the side. Where are the pipefishes? The anemonefishes? The anglerfishes? The damselfishes? The morays? The hogfishes? The groupers? The marlins, the tunas? Even the wrasses???? There are never any specific species, just red fish, blue fish, that's it!

No need to be passive aggressive @among-the-seaweeds-deactivated. You say anemonefishes are oversaturated in the media? In that case, point me to the seemingly abundant movies where two-band anemonefishes are the main character? How about the ones with only Mauritian and orange-fin anemonefish leads? Red saddlebacks, tomato anemonefish, orange anemonefish, skunk anemonefish, wide-band anemonefish, I could go on. Just because one species of anemonefish, the clown anemonefish, starred in one movie doesn't mean that the rest have it super nice and cozy.

Finding Nemo wasn't even too good for clown anemonefishes either. It's the only movie many have seen that even features a clownfish in a speaking role. My anemonefish roommate has often had people calling her Nemo or asking her to tell a joke because it's a "funny gag" from the movie. It's the first thing people tell her when they meet her a lot of the time. Trust me, the only person who has a problem with better fish species representation is you.

Blue marlins (scientific name makaira nigricans) are extremely migratory, and are sometimes found migrating between entire oceans! One specific blue marlin was tagged and found to migrate from the Western Atlantic all the way to the Indian Ocean!

Overall

Basically. Almost everything stated in the Hashira post applies to both the Kamaboko Squad and the Upper Moons but these five have a different concept

Just like the top grade, Hashira. The Kamaboko Squad possess the same lunar energy-powered oceanic magic inside those moonstone pendants and can do the same feats the Hashira can

Their magic is just a lot weaker than compared to the Hashira. Depending on the rank of the solider for the Ubuyashiki Royal Family and their underwater kingdom, the magic grew alongside with the rank

They all possess a unique weapon to their own character, alongside their magic and default summon-able weapons, used to fight off threats

Kamado Tanjiro

Tanjiro is a red queen snapper merman

Tanjiro always prays for the poor life of the vicious sea predators he is forced to kill. He feels sorry for them

Spends a lot of time honing his magic, above of the water. He likes practicing in the world over the sea

Nezuko is a rosy scale fairy wrasse merwoman

Days 21 and 22 of misusing the fish-uary 2024 prompts was delayed by like

PMS. I'm in the trailing end of it I'm allowed to count it.

That said both of these kind of violated the actual spirit of the prompts for Reasons: Day 21 was "Atlantic Ocean" and I went with an Atlantic blue marlin, except blue marlins are basically the same in both the Atlantic and Pacific I just wanted to do a blue marlin

And day 22 was "favorite" but my actual favorite fish is sturgeons, and as you might guess, I have already done many sturgeon Zora. I have actual named OCs based on sturgeons; like, four off the top of my head with actual designs, lmao.

So I did one of my other favorites, the amur carp. Amur carp are the wild form of koi and I'm pretty fond of that whole vague *gestures* group of ornamental domesticated fishes. In CoRA's Aurule I had this vague notion early on that Lorulean Zora might be based on carp, bettas, and catfish.

I think this guy is a shopkeeper somewhere.

Anyway then I couldn't resist drawing a sturgeon Zora anyway for the sole reason that it's been a while since I've drawn Prince Sturmaz and I felt like drawing him being feral lmao

There is a scene where he vaults over some work benches and starts chasing after a guy basically on all fours (a bit as a reference to Zelda 2 and largely because I like it when my boy completely loses his fucking marbles and forgets to be dignified) and one of these days I'm going to animate him doing it. Sturmaz is very much my other favorite Zora OC next to Marla.

As I was finishing up an expedition with my coleuge, Dr. Branston, she was endlessly gushing about the success of her textbook and research journal. It got the people interested in her works, and in dragons as a whole.
