random thoughts on whitepine & minecraft rp
Honestly one of the things I like sm about Minecraft storytelling/roleplay in general is when people do just, use their own skins/character designs.
Like Whitepine is a period drama with multiple furries and it doesn't need to be addressed because thats just how it is when the medium you use to tell your story is a platform like Minecraft.
And like it just works, I don't have any exact words to describe why it works, but I know for me it just does.
Genuinely Whitepine is off to such a cool start, the eerie atmosphere, wp!ivory gives me Violet Evergarden vibes with the whole, like, unasumed talent? (Granted very different talents but the idea is still there) I can't wait to see where it goes and also I want to buy the poster so badly.
More people should use Minecraft as a story telling medium and not just in the SMP context I think that would be cool.

Me rambling about the fandom atmosphere during November 16th:
With November 16th hitting the corner, I thought now would be a good time to finally post this post that's been in my drafts forever
I genuinely am of the personal belief that November 16th is one of those things where you had to have been there to fully appreciate and experience it at least in my opinion. I feel like the tense atmosphere leading up to the actual event is something that is not widely talked about in the fandom. A brief reminder for the fans that are new here or that missed the stream where the November 16th War was announced: during stream C! Dream revealed that there was a traitor hiding amongst Pogtopia and said it was someone that you wouldn't expect. This one line lead to multiple fan theories going around the fandom ranging from plausible to very far fetched. The fandom turned into one big game of Among Us and EVERYONE was a suspect.
Here's an old post of my mine that I think does a good job showing the mentality of most fans going into November 16th:
Tumblr media
There were so many theories and speculations leading up to it and you genuinely had to be there to see everyone's different theories about who the traitor would be and the couple aus I saw come out of it. It made it so that when the event did happen, no one in the fandom knew who trust and NEITHER DID THE CHARACTERS. It was amazing watching characters debate whether or not to trust eachother live. It made it feel like any discoveries or possible leads that were made were realised by the character and the fandom at the same time, especially love that one scene where C! Tubbo and C! Quackity decide they sort of trust eachother and talk about who they don't trust. I distinctly remembering switching between povs and watching the dashboard lose their shit and how current character mains would be like "OH [CHARACTER] IS ACTING SO SUSPICIOUS :0" or just liveblog whatever characters were doing and it was a really fun way of keeping up with most of the characters even if I couldn't physically watch all their povs at once
This is less about the atmosphere but more something I feel like people don't talk about enough: Phil wasn't on the Dream SMP before November 16th and we had no concrete indication he would be there. There were a lot of fan theories and headcanons about him joining and I remember seeing all the art of him joining on November 16th and at the time thinking "Oh that's really cool but I doubt they'll actually do it" SO I CAN'T DESCRIBE THE SHEER EMOTIONS I FELT WHEN HE JOINED?
I honestly still don't think I'll ever forget watching C! Wilbur press the button and watching everything go to shit at once after such a tense buildup. Whenever I tell my irl friends I once stayed up till 5am on a school night to watch a live minecraft roleplay event, most of them joke or express (VERY UNDERSTANDABLE) concern but I honestly don't regret a thing. I'd do it 30 times over just to experience that again and watch my dashboard go apeshit. November 16th will always be one of my favourite events in any media ever.

going crazy about enderking missa they're literally so different?? I'm so curious how that connection even happened one is actually sunshine incarnate and the other is phil's immortal trauma
I don't know man I've been grabbing at scraps of antagonist qmissa all the way back to the 'six days left' and missaconfonia I've been trying and now ender is here and I'm. well okay. I can work with that
I think it's cause. the canon instances of Ender reaching out have been notably interpolated with Missa's presence. The first altar leaving Phil disoriented and terrified until not a couple hundred blocks away he's stumbling across a sign of Missa, hiding out in an aquarium pen and the atmosphere dissipates significantly. The book appearing just as Missa falls asleep in the place they're meant to be kept safe, solidifying his need to protect his family.
The fact that they're hold just massively contrasting values just adds to the idea I think. Missa who loves community and his friends and family and remains loyal despite their disagreements, doesn't think he deserves the things he's given and actively puts himself in living conditions he thinks will keep him out of the way, and Ender fully Taking Whole Chunks from other territories to collect, leaving the space broken and empty, isolating himself from his peers due to his greed.
and yet. They hold some very interesting similarities, their desire to be acknowledged their perfectionism their greed and I think it's sort of fascinating that it's these aspects of him that Missa tends to keep locked away
and then there's Phil's reactions to these feelings. With Ender he's terrified, he's repulsed he's thinking about being put into a cage and and being torn from his family and losing grasp on what's real or not but when faced with the Idea of Missa's jealousy, of Missa potentially feeling something about him being pursued he's putting the most Blatant 'Taken' sign on the thing that keeps him walking. It's wanting Missa to ask more from him and wanting ender to crawl back into the decrepit hole he came from
like if this was any other medium other than unscripted minecraft roleplay I would be looking at the narrative like
Tumblr media
yeahhh I get it. The themes the foreshadowing yes of course I understand <- devious

My favorite kind of Minecraft streamer/YouTuber is absolutely people who put crazy effort into dumb funny bits and also lore
I think this is probably the main reason Slimecicle has been my favorite for a while
Because there are just so many things he does to add to the game
Working with the admins to make the Gegg model, having the actual gegg spawn eggs, all the premade Gegg sound effects, the Juanaflippa song- and researching social?? anarchism?? I think? For Gegg’s political views.
Not even joking he said in the beginning of 2nd debate stream that he spent his morning researching the political views of his slimy egg character on a Minecraft server
Of course it’s not just Slimecicle. Cellbit, Roier, Baghera, and bbh also come to mind when I think of cool QSMP roleplay
For example Cellbit’s dedication to solving the secrets of QSMP and the arg, and actually DOING THE ARG WHILE LOGGED INTO THE GAME. Because it was his character doing it. And dying the white streak in his hair was such a cool thing to add to the immersion.
And the commitment to having an actual conspiracy board in the game!! It’s such a small detail but it adds so much immersion and atmosphere !!!!!!
I haven’t watched as much of Roier as I’d like to, but from what I’ve seen he has really great story for his QSMP character. Also my favorite bit is the Abueloier phone call to Roier because I just find it kind of insane how seamlessly he switched from acting as Abueloier to himself, especially with the realistic phone call noises.
And bbh and Baghera both being so dedicated to both the eggs and the presidential campaign has been really fun to see! Because not only are they giving up the potential power (especially bbh with adding Skeppy to the server) to try to create a fair government system, they are also so great at supporting each other and explaining their own arguments at the debate(s).
Especially bbh sticking up for Baghera and explaining what she meant to Forever and Cellbit was really great to see.
Long rant over !!! Minecraft roleplay good !!

im asking abt modpack design. what makes a good modpack? Is that the same as a balanced modpack? how many way are there to work around mods not wanting to coexist & how much work usually goes into packs you make?
Ive slapped together a few packs for myself that took a few allnighters back when i wasnt sleeping anyway lol. then wanted to play with friends and had to slim it down to something all our pcs could handle.... fun times
oh boy here we go... What makes a good modpack is simply: Fun. Not every good modpack is balanced, and not every balanced modpack is good. Generally, the more balanced a modpack is, the better it is, but you can have crazy op superflyingdragonkilling ultra 9000 swords and still have lots of fun with them, as long as they aren't literally made out of dirt. An example I like to use when people ask "well how could an unbalanced modpack be fun?" is the Minecraft but X is OP! type datapacks that are pretty common in clickbait YouTube thumbnails. Those are really fun to mess around with! Balanced? Oh gods no. But sometimes how ludicrous it is can be the fun in and of itself. A balanced modpack is one where your power level as a player is roughly proportionate to how much time you invest into it. It's roughly self explanatory but can be a bit hard for me to put an example to with something in regular minecraft. Another, minor aspect of a good modpack imo is the environment and ambient atmosphere of everything. If you have a mod with mspaint sprites that are plastered everywhere, it's gonna ruin immersion and make the game less serious, which is a big component of keeping a modpack engaging and therefore fun. In terms of getting mods to work that just refuse to? For some performance related backend mods there are alternatives (LazyDFU and DataFixerSlayer, Rubidium/Sodium and Embeddium, etc.) that could solve issues, but more often that not, if it's a crash, you just gotta cope and take one of them out of the pack. If it's a not crash related issue, for example for balance or something related to, you can always remove the mobs / items / anything else that is causing issues with mods like Bad Mobs, You Shall Not Spawn, or Item Obliterator. I usually put 1-2 weeks of work into a good serious modpack, but I mostly make kitchen sinks, and the longest project I ever worked on personally took me around 2 months to fully complete and be ready. Custom textures, modifying datapacks, tweaking mods and finding new ones, all to create an intensely immsersive atmosphere for a roleplay server that never ended up going live. (yeouch) Slimming down modpacks is honestly tough, but I just like to focus on a direct theme or two. Earlier this week I had a pack with 218 mods that i slimmed down to just under 100 by cutting out chaff and really focusing on the 3 lines of progression the people wanted. (Tech, Magic, Adventure) If you ever want help making a modpack for anything, hmu! DM me here and I'll toss you my discord :D (this goes for anyone)

Hi, this is not for me but for my friend Vin_shoken who is taking commissions but apparently doesn't want to use Tumblr to promo herself so I'm doing it for her
If you follow me, you might know some of Vin's MCYT parody songs, perhaps the one she did for the MCYTblr Sexyman Tournament:
youtube
The Billy Eilish's "Bad Guy" parody about the Bad Boys is great too.
She also does some seriously awesome atmospheric pieces, including my favourite, the one that's labeled "super cool original song i love sm" on her website, which was actually made for me :D (I'm not biased at all lmao)
It was for my character for a Minecraft roleplay series that unfortunately never ended up happening (well at least not yet... who knows). My character was supposed to be an ancient construct, like a clockwork robot from the bronze age or something along those lines, think Laputa: Castle in the Sky (the Ghibli movie). I had some very weird and specific requests for the vibe of the song, some of which were frankly mutually contradictory, and Vin still delivered exactly what I wanted and I think also read my mind to give me things I didn't even know how to ask for.
She's also very funny and a master of silly puns.
So yeah, go check her out at least and maybe consider commissioning!

Don’t mind me getting overly emotional as I muse about c!sbi for a second.
It’s always been hard for me to choose a side when it comes to c!sbi. It’s quite obvious you either sympathize with crime boys or emerald duo. Sympathizing with both make my little hobby of starting pointless but lighthearted discourse tricky. Many people make the assumption I’m arguing for cTechno cuz I don’t like or otherwise don’t sympathize with cTommy which couldn’t be further from the truth. I fully understand the motives of, and sympathize with both sides, I just prefer to side with the generally less morally sound option since playing the devil’s advocate in the context of a silly little minecraft roleplay is so god damn fun for some reason.
I love and relate to all four in very different ways though, their stories all have a unique perspective to explore. And I believe the comfort I get from each all ties back to my experience growing up quite perfectly. CWilbur deals with a mounting level of responsibility and expectations he never asked for, while all the others seem to do is look on from the sidelines and feed the fire by expecting him to fix it all. That feeling of being held down in the water by the people who want you to learn to swim. CPhil always represented my capacity to choose flight (Ha get it cuz he’s a bird? No? I’ll see myself out), to let my anxiety get the best of me and leave prematurely even if I could have gotten through it. Whether that flight is literal or only in my head, when I’m at my worst you won’t be able to find me. It’s the comfort of being on my own, of escaping to my imagination, oh the love I have for people I’ll never know and a home that only exists on a minecraft server.
CTommy is obvious when it comes to the subject of growing up isn’t he? I just grew up too quick, cared about the wrong things. Maturity, the opinions of people who never cared how it effected me, the bias and hate that I wouldn’t truly experience for years. It was all to my detriment because I cared so much, in that way I guess I hadn’t grown up that much anyways. But cTechno is the most poignant. It’s an awful way to grow up, feeling isolated and borderline dehumanized for something you can’t control, for the way your brain works specifically. Nothing quite feels right, until you find your people that is. People who don’t ignore it or see past it but know it, and know you like no one else has even been able to. I realized there’s a hugely impactful theme of acceptance in cTechnos character I never noticed before now I frame it like that. In the end he’s happy. He creates beautiful things, bonds, homes, atmospheres, all precisely because he embraces himself and what makes him happy. It really does feel like a love letter to every neurodivergent person who feels alienated, he really was a fantastic storyteller.

Eli Rambles About One of their Favorite Games
When I was about 14 or 15 years old, I was getting introduced into the world of PC gaming. Up until that point, I'd mostly played on the PS2 and the Gameboy Advanced SP. The PC games I'd known were browser games like Runescape, or games like Civ City Rome, Zoo Tycoon, and the Sims. I was happy with this, but then a friend of mine suggested that I play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat.
He taught me how to "obtain" it through means not entirely up-to-code and sat with me on Skype to teach me how to play. I was sucked in. I'd never played a game with such intense atmosphere before. It was so spooky and immersive and desolate, while simultaneously being so welcoming and comforting when I'd find a camp of fellow Stalkers or I'd wander into Skadovsk, the 1st area's "town". I liked listening to the Stalker that played guitar, and to the dialogue which was partially still in the untranslated Ukrainian, and partially in very horribly translated Ukrainian. Me and my friend would greet each other back and forth mimicking the dialogue in the game-- "Hay, broh!" "A-loooooo-ha!"
I spent many hours in this game, hundreds possibly. I liked to explore and to take side quests and hang out with NPCs and roleplay. When I was that young, before I knew how video games worked, there was a lot of mystery surrounding every facet of games. It made me feel very small in the best way. I never knew what to expect out of video games, and especially had no idea what to expect out of Call of Pripyat. I never knew what kind of monsters would be prowling the swamps, or hiding in the shadows of abandoned buildings. I never knew the limits of anomalies. I never knew what kinds of things could happen with the NPCs, or what would happen next in the story, and I was so enchanted by every minute of it.
Eventually, I beat Call of Pripyat, back in the old days when I'd actually play games until they were complete rather than until my ADHD looked for the next big thing to focus on. It was a hard-fought battle. Those who've played know how hard the last stretch of the game is. But I did it. Me and my terrible and baby-faced gaming skills. And I moved onto new pastures -- Elder Scrolls Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines, Team Fortress 2... and later, onto an even wider assortment of games, branching out bit by bit -- CK2, Mount and Blade: Warband, Dark Souls, Minecraft, Stardew Valley, The Last of Us, Disco Elysium. Each game I loved, recommended to me by friends just as Pripyat had. Each one heavily driven by atmosphere, just as Pripyat was. Each one clunky at times. Many of them niche. Many of them difficult. Sometimes, it feels like each new game that I play and love is retracing the bootprints in the mud that were left that first time I played Call of Pripyat. I wouldn't call it my favorite game. I wouldn't call it one of my top 10 games, probably. But it had a huge lasting impact on me and the way that I view and consume video games.
I'm 24 now, and I've finally gotten around to replaying Call of Pripyat. I just beat it today. It's been almost a full decade since I rushed to the helicopters in Pripyat, dodging the Monolith's sniper bullets and doing everything I can to protect Strelok and my military brothers. It's really amazing so much time has passed, and that I still love this game as much now as I did when I was just 14. I missed the Zone, and I missed this game, and I'm happy I got to replay it. Legitimately this time. The devs deserve every dime.
It's amazing what slightly obscure media can do to an impressionable mind, I think.

why Quinn’s Lie is the best high school mcrp ever
in this essay I will convince everyone to watch Quinn’s Lie and stan the absolute living fuck out of it
if you haven’t watched Quinn’s Lie, I highly recommend it. if you don’t want spoilers, don’t read this until you’ve finished the season.
REASON 1:
Quinn herself is a beautiful main character.
Quinn is a character with more inner conflict and problems than any Aphmau character I’ve ever seen. the main thing I love about Quinn’s Lie is how realistic it is: every event that happens in the story can and absolutely could happen to any highschool kid. A lot of the same stuff has even happened to me.
Quinn is an amazing and relatable main character. she doesn’t feel like she fits in with her friends at all, as she likes to stay holed up in her room and play video games all day. whenever she talks about her interests, her friends playfully tease her about it, but they don’t know that their teases are actually hurting her. this has happened to me so many times, and I’m sure it’s happened to other people too.
Quinn finds solace in new friends who really do understand her, and she begins to make bad decisions because of it. she starts seeing Malachi, even though he makes her skip school and get in trouble. she’s making bad decisions, but can’t see past the fact that these people she’s hanging out with are making her happy. she’s willing to risk her wellbeing for a scrap of happiness.
REASON 2:
The friend conflict.
I touched on this in the last reason. Quinn doesn’t feel like she fits in with her friends because they judge and tease her about her interests.
This happens to me and probably a ton of people a lot. I really enjoy mcrp and several series of books, but my friends always make fun of me for liking stuff that should be “meant for kids.” I never tell them about my cosplays or anything like that. the only people I tell about that kind of stuff are a certain group of people on Instagram. sometimes it feels like you have to drop your old friends just to be happy. it isn’t always the case - you can always have friends in multiple circles - but balancing the two can be extremely stressful and make you anxious, like seen in Quinn’s Lie.
REASON 3:
It handles mental health beautifully.
Trigger warning!!!!! mention of suicide
Hayley has never come out and officially stated that Quinn was suicidal in episode 6 when she runs away, but it’s heavily inferred. When I first watched The scene where Quinn goes up to the rooftop after she runs out of school, I genuinely thought she was going to attempt to kill herself. Quinn has a panic attack after getting sent to the principal’s office and runs away, not bothering to tell her friends or Malachi where she is.
When Bowen finds her on the rooftop, she’s recounting all the reasons she’s a bad person. Bowen seems panicked, eager to get her to come with him. It’s all what would be found in a speech given to stop a person from killing themselves. Bowen gets forceful near the end, shouting in an effort to tell Quinn that she’s beautiful even without Malachi’s intervention.
Quinn is also able to have a very open and relaxed conversation with her mother about how she’s been feeling and about Bowen. Phoebe and Quinn have an extraordinary relationship, similar to best friends that can tell each other anything. Quinn spills out her feelings to her mother, something that is rarely seen in MCRP and real life alike. I’ve said this before, but Phoebe is a rockstar mom to have raised Quinn all by herself without Markus, and to raise her so well. it’s only until Quinn meets Malachi that the tight bond between Phoebe and Quinn starts to break.
REASON 4:
Believeable and well rounded characters.
Every single character in Quinn’s Lie has a consistent personality and understandable motives. here’s just a few for starters:
Kalea, after finding out that Asher was cheating on her, lashes out at Quinn. Usually, when characters are told they’re being cheated on, they break down and cry on the spot. Though Kalea after rashly and in the moment, this shows that she has a strong loyalty to Asher and it keeps theme with her personality. In fact, the fact that Kalea says that she wants to apologize to Quinn is amazing. Kalea admits what she did was wrong and wants to make it up to Quinn.
Teegan stands with Quinn through everything she goes through. Teegan is always looking out for Quinn, and will really do anything for her. Teegan is the first person Phoebe calls when Quinn goes missing. she immediately helps Quinn when she thinks she’s pregnant. The girl goes out of her way to go to a party - which, she isn’t comfortable with, mind you - and NOT hang out with the love of her life. She isn’t there for Wesley; she’s there for Quinn. Teegan is a definition of chicks before dicks. She does what’s best for Quinn, even if Quinn doesn’t listen.
Bowen is a stellar character and Prince Charming. Hayley has said that she doesn’t exactly like the ending of Quinn’s Lie because of how cliche it is, but we’re not talking about that. From the moment Bowen meets Quinn, he’s thinking ahead about her future if she began to hang out with his friends. He’s fully aware about how bad Malachi is and what a bad influence he is on her. Bowen tries his best to do what’s right for Quinn by not talking to her, even though it means hurting her feelings. He takes into stride Quinn’s feelings and future over his. Bowen is fully aware of his feelings for Quinn, but pushes them aside because he doesn’t want her getting hurt more than she already was.
These are just THREE of the characters from Quinn’s Lie. They get a lot better in Riverside U, too - Sierra is a feminist, Jocelyn is a bisexual/lesbian, and Faye, despite being an emo loner for all of high school, breaks out of her shell and becomes a cheerleader. Every single character in Quinn’s Lie is beautiful and well rounded. I could go on forever talking about how great each one is.
this concludes my late night ted talk about Quinn’s Lie. It’s a beautiful mcrp, and I highly recommend you watch it. 💕✨

HOLY SHIT THAT STREAM WAS INSANE!!!!!!
Tommy fucking popped off with the acting. He literally conveyed the feeling of being completely overwhelmed by a situation SO WELL IM IN AWE! The way his voice broke and it sounded like he was crying, the way he didn't even need to speak and created this incresibly tense atmosphere in the beginning just with his facecam. I could go on for hours, he outdoes himself every stream holy fuck. This 17 year old minecrafter makes me feel more immersed in his roleplay than literal professionally produced TV shows. TOMMY FUCKING INNIT EVERYONE!

that whole about making the dsmp an org i think comes from the fact that (besides them seeing it as a money grab) they dont realize everyone on that server are like. actual friends with each other. not to say that other orgs arent friends with each other but like almost every single person added to the server was friends with or already knew someone on it and if they didnt, are friends with everyone now, and i straight up think trn and the others just cannot for the life of them get that fact into their heads.
oh yeah given train didn’t even know dream and sapnap lived together, i wouldn’t doubt that the crowd on the podcast also just flat out doesn’t realize that the dsmp is a bunch of friends first and foremost. on top of that, the other big servers that have started in this current era (smp live, smp earth, epic smp) have had lineups that included separate friend groups (lunch club and team chunk error, the various countries, misfits, etc for each), but not one large overarching friend group to hold it all together and keep the more relaxed setting that dream smp manages to maintain.
the dream smp was founded solely because dream and george wanted to play minecraft together, and they just kept adding new people as they went. they started with close friends (the original 8), and branched out from there to people they knew a bit (sbi), and then to people that dream didn’t know well yet, but thought were talented and more importantly: thought they would fit in well with the rest of the server. the smp having natural chemistry has always been the main draw of it, and it shows in the best ways. i really do think that the cast of the podcast just doesn’t know that
some people didn’t really know the other smp members personally yet (like ranboo), but they were added specifically bc they were good at what they do and because dream felt they would mesh well into the group. but most (like sbi, mmc, hannah) did already know someone there, and was already actual friends with them, and it works so well for the entire server
(obviously i also definitely think a lot/most of it comes from them just talking purely hypotheticals for the sake of talking, but not realizing how rude it could come across)
i also think it’s possible that train is (intentionally or not) using his own experiences with nopixel (the gta rp server that he was permabanned from) as a basis to evaluate the dream smp, which are two very different communities that aren’t really that similar beyond “these both have ccs and they roleplay in a video game.” the atmospheres are entirely different and i don’t think he realizes that the dream smp is far more casual, despite its popularity and roleplay

not all of them, but most of them through dnd & minecraft yeah! all in the same groups of friends, minecraft was wholly an accident though we just all play dnd together and got really into making lore for it + had fun with the immersive atmosphere/building aspects of it! :-)

OKAY WELL I REALLY WANT TO RANT ABOUT MY OCS SO YEAH Y'ALL HAVE TO SIT THROUGH THIS FOR A BIT
Page is super self conscious, that's why he's literally the only one in his immediate family who wears a mask.
Lil Meg was found rummaging in the trash by Jiri, she immediately bit Jiri's wings upon being picked up.
The last time Twist had more than two airheads they almost broke their leg after forgetting that their hand isn't attached to their body and tried to dangle from a tree. They were not allowed candy since.
Claymore LOVES coffee. It doesn't have the same effect to him as it does to others (cuz hes an alien) but he likes it.
Kinda obvious but Claymore smells like clay.
Page has a strawberry garden in his and Twist's backyard.
Fluff brings Claymore coffee from the Cafe whenever she visits her brothers.
Jiri, who started as just my internet persona, is now considered a universe jumping being. This is why she plays a roll in Lil Meg meeting Page and Twist despite not technically belonging in their universe.
Tove and Fluff have been friends since 7th grade.
Draca likes all meat EXCEPT for turkey, for some reason. Nobody knows why but that's the ONLY meat she won't eat. She is why ham is present at family dinners during this universe's version of thanksgiving.
Yes, they have a different version of thanksgiving in this world.
Lee, Hunter's daughter, plays Smash Bros and mains Kirby.
She has also completed every run in Undertale. Including all the neutral endings.
Fluff likes musicals. Her current favourite is The Lightning Thief musical. Totally not just me projecting on my own characters
Draca struggled with her sexuality for a while because she was never introduced to the concept of sexuality (not her mom's fault, you can't expect a dragon to think it's important to specify. Her mom is very supportive.)
Probably cursed but in this universe the Cats musical is called Humans and Humans (2019) is just as cursed as Cats (2019).
Fluff makes great smoothies.
Hunter has a Reddit account SOLELY because he frequents r/roastme. He's very well known there.
Lee has TONS of Worms-on-strings. She sells them for two dollars a worm at school. She has multiple packs of thirty sitting in her closet.
Fluff loves buying succulents. She has three on her nightstand.
While Fluff has a green thumb, Draca has a black thumb of death. She can't even water a plant without killing it.
Draca is lactose intolerant.
Which is a real shame because she loves cheesecake.
Fluff's tail gets REALLY heavy after a shower and she spends 30 minutes after showering using a blow dryer on it.
Lee has Minecraft pajamas. Tons of them. More than just the Enderman onesie.
Amari has a tiktok account with 10k followers.
Hunter does his best to be a good dad to Lee. He goes all out on birthday decorations and themes.
The Boone-Kless family get together once a month for DnD. Draca's mom hosts for the atmosphere, she also roleplays the bbeg because it hits different when a 50 foot long dragon is the one monologuing.
Lee has ADHD and uses fidget toys and sensory stuff.
Page loves trail mix.
There is literally no reason for twist to not have an arm I just decided why not and gave them a floating hand and no arms. Their twin sister is perfectly normal.
Oh yeah they have a twin sister.
While uncle Alistair could have raised the Boone kids, he was already dealing with 2 year old Adya and Twist so he didn't want an infant and a six year old to worry about.
The Boone kids were raised by grandma and grandpa Uroe instead.
Fluff was 4 and Hunter was 9 when they found Claymore and his little crash site. (I'll talk about Claymore's story in a separate post.)
Lee WILL talk your ear off about her special interests.
Despite everyone in this universe being furries, pets do still exist. It's like a monkey-human situation.
Fluff wants a pet snake.
Both Fluff and Page are eggnog monsters. During the holidays, it's best to get your cup before they even know it's in the house or you won't get any.
Draca is a great cook. Fluff on the other hand, is better at baking.
Page and Fluff bond over baking.
As much as she loves the latte art Fluff can do, Lee is no longer allowed more than one (1) cup of coffee a week.
Nobody knows why Hunter and Fluff's parents had a hit on them. It's a cold case.
Hunter has nightmares about his parents.
Hunter made some mistakes as a teen and as a result, is a single dad. Lee's mom wasn't a nice person. He blames himself.
Draca can breathe fire but she doesn't use it often. When she gets tired, little puffs of smoke come out of her nose.
Switching universes for a sec, the largest age gap between the Test Subjects is 3 years (Sty 13, Carmen 16)
The youngest known subject was 9 but the "researchers" felt like they were too annoying and stubborn to deal with.
The current youngest known subject is 12. They are not central to the story. If it's any consolation, the Test Subjects do end up busting out the others eventually.
The Test Subjects were captive for 2 years. Adam was 13. Cam was 13. Sty was 10 (and a half!).
After busting out; Adam, Cam, and Sty helped Carmen out. As a result, freeing Julie as well.
Julie is an asshole and never gets redeemed in any way. She manipulated and took advantage of Carmen and deserves what she gets.
Not a single main character in The Test Subjects is straight. Not one.
Adam is aro ace.
Cam is an ace lesbian.
Sty is a demi boy (they/them and he/him) and gay.
Carmen is a lesbian.
Julie is.... Well.... She's Julie. She doesn't care. She's pan, I guess.
Cam spent MONTHS stumbling around before Adam and Sty just went "nope, we are GETTING you a cane"
The "researchers" didn't give two shits about the subjects comfort or pain. They'd regularly perform horrible stitching and this resulted in them just saying "if it bothers you so much, fix it yourself".
Basically the subjects performed surgery on each other to PROPERLY stitch up whatever transplants they had.
They also bandaged them poorly, so the subjects would have their "roommates" fix it.
The rooms they were kept in had one "bed" that they either fought over or took turns on.
They weren't kept in the best condition is what I'm saying.
Carmen is the mom friend of the group.
If I could draw it right, Carmen would have a lip piercing. We'll have to settle for earrings for now.
On the topic of piercings, Draca would definitely have an eyebrow piercing if her scales didn't get in the way.
Speaking of Draca, she was a very rebellious teenager. One time she graffitied a huge green dragon on the side of a building that cut down a ton of trees in front of her mom's cave.
Speaking of Draca's mom, she's bisexual and currently dating a Sapper named Trix.
Back to the dnd thing, here are their most played classes.
Draca tends to play barbarians or paladins. Real tank-y classes.
Fluff plays druid or sorcerer.
Claymore likes playing bard.
Hunter tends to go for rangers.
Twist likes playing a wild mage.
Page prefers wizards or warlocks.
When they let her play, Lee plays a Cleric.
Mipos, Draca's mom, never told Draca what kind of dragon they are.
Lee decorates her room with stickers and posters.
These are the Boone-Kless fam's current PCs

sloppily used my own list format to make my top games of the decade list! meanings for each game under the cut. (couldn’t decide between BL2 and starbound)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1. MINECRAFT - Growing up, I adored playing Minecraft. I put hundreds of hours into my own small singleplayer world, building huge city complexes and tanks and farms and helicopters, skyscrapers and zoos, floating signs in the sky that cheered me up when I logged on. I fell in love with the freedom, the utility, the versatility and complete control at my fingertips. I joined a couple online servers when I turned 10 - HouseCraft (a Czechian/English survival server where I got scammed frequently, but loved it for its low-key atmosphere and homey feel) and FinalDawn (a warrior cats roleplay server - this is where I ended up spending most of my time). I met some of my closest friends there, I was traumatized as a result of that server, I became the messiest person I ever knew on that server, I grew and changed and I realized I was a lesbian because of that server. Without it, I never would’ve become the person I am now. Because of Minecraft, I’ve flourished so much, and I will always look upon this game with the utmost love, adoration, and respect. 2. MGS3: SNAKE EATER - This one’s fairly recent (I got my PS3 in the summer and only managed one run of the game before returning to school), but it’s my favorite all-time game in the Metal Gear series. Its complexities, its themes, its characters and its storyline, it all seemed so beautiful to me. I held it very close to my heart then, and I still do now. It’s an amazing game that everyone should play - and finish - at least once, to truly understand how beautiful and ridiculous a game can be. 3. LISA: THE PAINFUL - This was my very first take on a game requiring critical analysis and serious, complex thought. Hbomberguy introduced me to it with his LISA: The Analysis video, and I’ll always be grateful to him for it. I poured many hours into this one - played it twice over, and now I’m starting up a fresh save. It’s a truly complicated game, with its many flaws, and its takes on trauma, abuse, and how exactly an apocalypse can twist the very core of humanity, are beautiful to me (the theories on how the apocalypse itself started, what exactly happened to the earth, and various unfinished sidelines are a whole rabbit hole in and of themselves). Be warned, though: this game has VERY HEAVY focuses on child abuse, drug addiction/alcoholism, and general gore/sexual assault. It gave me nightmares because I played it too much.
4. TLOZ: BREATH OF THE WILD - My first switch game, and my first Zelda game. I was immediately smitten with this game: I started crying during the intro (when the camera pans away from Link on the mountainside) because it was just so beautiful, because I was finally playing the game I’d wanted for years. Every time the music swelled and melted into the LOZ theme, every time I came across a new, beautiful, amazing spot, I teared up or just started crying. Everything about this game was, and is, just so perfect to me. I love you, BOTW.
5. STARDEW VALLEY - I’ll be honest; when I first got this game, I had pretty strong doubts. I didn’t like the visual style all that much, I thought it would be a bland indie game I’d be wasting my money on. But I bought it, because I had a lot of cash on Steam at the time (Christmas money, really). Suffice to say, I got addicted to it. Stayed up til 4AM on school nights, dedicated every waking hour I had to Stardew Valley, racked up a hundred hours in a month and 30-40hrs per week. I pored over wiki pages, to the point where my entire PC started dying whenever I’d open up my browser because of the sheer amount of tabs. I love this game so, so much, despite its flaws. 6. YAKUZA 0 - This was another huge timesink. It was my first Yakuza game ever, and I was super excited to play it (preordered it, sat for hours in my sweltering room waiting for it to finish install). At first, it was a buggy mess, and I absolutely hated it. Then patches came out, and I booted it up again, and I fell in love. I streamed it for my friends, I played it on my own, I snuck around parental locks to get on and play it in the middle of the night - landing 70 hours in a week, at one point. It’s not that outstanding of a story, and its graphics - compared to the rest of the recent games - aren’t the most stunning in the world, but it’s still an amazing game. Fair warning for gore and some transmisogyny, though.
7. NIGHT IN THE WOODS - This was one of my first ever Steam games! I hold it very near to my heart, as I somehow managed to play it 4 times over and get almost every single achievement. And played all the other games. And gushed about it to everyone I knew. I loved this game so, so much, and I still do. I should play it again!
8. BORDERLANDS 2 - This was a very finnicky game for me. I had huge on/off spells with BL2, getting addicted to it one moment, falling off it for months another moment. I still loved it, still loved its characters, its storylines, and unfortunately got traumatized by some folks who loved some of the worse characters, but I still adore booting this up when I can.
8. STARBOUND - I adored this game. It was a slow start, but once I was able to kick this off with some school friends, it became a massive timesink. I spent so, so much time on this, decorating my ship, exploring various planets, connecting with so many different societies and NPCs. Please, please buy and play this game. It’s utterly astounding.
9. POKEMON WHITE - My first DS game! Again, a finnicky one, got huge on/off spells, but it was the first Pokemon game I managed to play all the way through. And I was pretty damn proud of that: every other game I pirated, etc, I never ever finished (I hate repetitive grinding).
