So she couldn’t get Audible so went for some thing that no one had heard about. She says she has a love of podcasting yet it took her years to do a basic podcast that was basically her bitching about her perceived wrongs in life and her extremely outdated views/arguments on feminism etc. I mean high school and even middle school kids if not younger than that could’ve come up with better more educated and more modern arguments/topics than she did. She also didn’t do any of the work, had others do the interviewing, the topics and bare minimum research, like the everything was basic or nonexistent and her guests were obviously bored or shocked at how self-absorbed and ignorant she was/is. Lemonade allows Meghan to see herself as the big guy, the big name which she wasn’t at Netflix or Spotify and she can’t stand not being that. But I doubt she will do anything of substance as she has the substance of a grain of dirt, there is literally nothing to her and she is nothing but a consummate performer, nothing she does is genuine or real - she doesn’t believe in anything she says, it’s only done to make her look like she is and she jumps on the bandwagon/trend and thinks saying she is a humanitarian, home care advocate and human rights activist and equity advocate is somehow enough but in reality she has no interest or care for any of these issues or those who face them - they’re only there to boost her and only her. In particular, anyone concerned or interested in women’s rights, women’s healthcare, equity etc. wouldn’t be saying to another woman about baby brain… especially not nowadays.

That's the problem. Meghan cares more about likeability than authenticity. She doesn't realize that authenticiy is likeability.

It'll be interesting to see how she spins the new podcast failing. Like you've said, she can't be the girl's girl she pretends to be if she attacks a woman-owned business with predominantly female content creators for failing to support a woman.

Authenticity and Influence

We can’t truly have one without the other.

Yes, someone can have authority and bark orders but their ability to influence people will only go so far.

People will listen to "big titles" and do what they are told but that’s not leadership. That’s not influence. That’s just the dynamics of an org chart.

Over time that leads to weakened teams, sluggish work and transactional relationships.

However, authenticity is something much more powerful.

When a team leader is authentic – his/her true self, unguarded, transparent and vulnerable, the ability to influence others has very few limitations.

Teams will know that when the team leader is communicating something, it’s true. When there is something that requires urgency, they will react and respond. They will know that what he/she says to them about a situation is what they repeating elsewhere. No games. No manipulation. No politics.

Authenticiy removes suspicion and doubt. It clarifies situations. It makes challenges more palatable and brings teams closer together.

Some believe that team leaders need to be guarded and share limited info, for fear it can be used against them. I couldn’t disagree more.

The more authentic a leader the greater the level of respect, trust and partnership that's formed. All of those things add up to a team that people want to be a part of and a leader that people want to work with.

Cycles Of Authenticiy

Babies are totally authentic in the way they respond to anything and everything - they show us clearly what the like and what they dislike.  As they become toddlers they are instructed to modify there demands a little.  By the time the baby becomes a little boy or girl they have learned both a self-consciousess and a responsive from others to suppress anything other than what is socially acceptable.

So how are we, as grown people, supposed to have any idea as to how to be our ‘real’ selves.  It is a quiet and furtive and constant job!  Occasionally we let someone close to us in on the process....

Basically it becomes our job to authentic without be inappropriate.  It’s an art form.  

By the time we are aged, forgetfull and infirm, we lose touch with the ‘appropriate’ part and return to a more ‘baby’ like authenticity.

being real

I want to be genuine. i want to be raw and real and just as un-cleanly clean as the cool kids are. 

but. 

i do really think that who i am may not seem real to me or you. i like plastic. pink and all things sparkly especially people who sparkle. 

i have tried being cool. calm. mysterious. grey and melancholy. i didn't make it. 

so who i am may seem all fake. but it is the real me and i know it is because i can help but be like it. 

real is not always raw. raw is not always uncovered. uncovered is not always bare naked. sometimes it is fully clothed in oh so pretty things and many of them plastic and many of the not so real at all.
