Stickronpa Chapter 2 Post Circular Trial
-We all stared at the monitor in front of us, seeing the bright colors celebrating our correct choice.-
Monostick:"Congratulations!! You voted correctly!! The culprit was Night! The Ultimate Spy, or rather... The Ultimate Dragon Guardian!!"
-I looked at Night who was covering her mouth, laying her forehead on the monitor with her hands around her head.-
-I felt so bad and uncomfortable, as if I had condemned an innocent person...-
???:"GAAAAARRRH!!!!"
I heard a scream and turned towards it.-
Red:"NO!!!! NO NO NO!!! IS NOT TRUE!!! YOU DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG, I DID!!! IS MY FAULT!!!"
Yellow:"R-Red!?"
Red:"NIGHT, IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT!!! THERE MUST BE A WAY FOR YOU TO BE ABLE TO SEE YOUR BROTHER AGAIN!!! YOU HAVE TO SEE HIM!!!"
Night:"Red... Darling, there's no way to save me... I killed... I put you in danger... I didn't... I just didn't want you to be in my place..."
Blue:"Ultimate Guardian Dragon...?"
Dusk:"Guardian...hun?"
Yellow:"Red..."
Night:"I'm sorry.... To all of you...."
Red:"....."
Indigo:"And then? You will be executed. How do you feel?"
Orange:"seriously? How can you be so heartless??"
Indigo:"I'm thinking about my child, I don't want a... Whatever she is, around Purple!"
Orange:"Hump, like you care about them now!"
Indigo:"And what do you know about taking care of a child??"
Orange:"MUCH MORE THAN YOU!!!"
-Orange si move away from indigo.-
Purple:"....."
Blue:"Red... Are you okay...?"
Monostick:"nope! He's not!"
Yellow:"And how do you know?"
Monostick:"Simple! He voted for himself!"
-We all went into shock and stared at Red who was staring at the floor.... Red... why...?-
Red:"It's not fair... She deserves so much more!! She has to go back to her brother!!"
-He wouldn't stop crying.-
Night:"Red...."
Tumblr media
Night:"You are very kind.... Your friends have already lost someone, I would never forgive myself if they lost one more of them... they love you so much..."
Red:"N-Night...."
Night:"You remind me so much of my little brother..."
-Red wraps his arms around her.-
Monostick:"Woooon, how cute... But, you guys are going to have some extra time together!"
Red:"S-seriously!?"
Monostick:"Yup! In the end...."
-They opened a huge smile...-
Monostick:"You voted incorrectly.... So you need to be punished...."
-Red's eyes widen in seconds as he walks away.-
Blue:"WHAT!?! NO FUCKING!!! DON'T GO NEAR HIM YOU BRAT!!!"
-Blue tried to walk but it looks like his paralysis has kicked in again. He almost fell to the ground but is held by Yellow.-
Monostick:"Don't worry, if everything goes well... Only one of them will come out unscathed..."
Blue:"y-you..."
Monostick:"Now..."
-They snap their fingers and in seconds several copies of him appear and grab Red by the arms and take him away from Night.-
Second:"Red!! RED!!!"
-I ran towards him but the copies pushed me away from him knocking me against my podium and leaving me with a pain in my chest.-
Night:"SEC!! RED!! GAAAARR!!!!"
-In seconds, Night started to roar, scales grew from her neck to her face, from her back wings started to appear, tearing her coat from which she took it, and her hands became claws.-
Night:"LEAVE HIM ALONE!!!!"
Monostick:"I have prepared a very special punishment for the Ultimate Night Dragon Guardian!"
Second:"R-Red....."
Monostick:"Let's give everything we have!"
Second:"P-please..."
Monostick:"IT'S PUNISHMENT TIME!!!"
Second:"SAVE HIM!!!!"
[TW: Blood, Impalement, Death]
-......-
-no...... No no no NO!!!-
-monostick untied Red and brought him back here... he was surrounded by blood and was paralyzed in shock.-
Monostick:"HAHAHAHAHA!!! Is this not exciting??? The feeling of despair is so much that I'm going crazy!!!"
Second:"RED!!!"
-We all ran to Red who didn't answer, just stared at the ground with an empty look full of tears.-
Blue:"Red! Are you listening to us?? Are you ok???"
-Purple took a look at Red and saw that he had scratches and marks from the strings, but other than that he was fine...-
Orange:"You are insane!!"
Monostick:"Well, you guys are overreacting! He'll be fine! It's not my dear fault and he chose to kill someone, it went wrong and someone else had to finish the job!"
Dark:"And I thought I was a psychopath...."
Indigo:"Enough, now let's get down to what's really important.... Who is the traitor??"
Blue:"Traitor? Who cares...? I DON'T CARE!!! I JUST WANT TO GET OUT OF THIS HELL!!! I DON'T WANT TO SEE MY FRIENDS SUFFERING!!! AND YOU JUST WANT TO KNOW WHO WORKS FOR MONOSTICK???"
Freedom:"Whoever the traitor is, they must know who the mastermind is."
Dusk:"Exactly, but I don't think Monostick is going to tell us who's responsible for them, is that right?"
Monostick:"Puhuhuhu... Correct little friend! You are so smart and special! I won't tell unless my creator wants me to! But anyway, it's getting dark, the run is over, I have to clean up All before tomorrow! Then they are free to go!"
-And so they dismiss us by sending us to the elevator. Orange had to carry Red and Blue had help from Yellow.-
Second:"Ahrg..."
Yellow:"Sec..?"
Second:"I-I'm coming Yell, you can go ahead..."
-They go to the elevator and go up first while I stay behind staring at the floor...-
-...Night.....-
-She was like a sister to all of us... Especially to Red...-
-Arg... And why do I feel this pain in my chest...?-
Chosen:"Second, can I talk to you?"
Second:"A-ah! C-chosen? yes, o-of course!"
-He helped me keep my posture.-
Chosen:"Second... do you remember the day we met...?"
Second:"Oh..."
-We met in a day when I Dark was still evil.-
-He sent a virus to Alan's PC that almost destroyed the computer and my friends...-
-Chosen then appeared and destroyed the virus, but had to go back to face the Dark Lord.-
-I.... I can't forget that day....-
-I almost... I almost lost my friends..-
-but.... I don't remember the rest... or... at least I don't want to remember.....-
Second:"....y-yes....."
Chosen:"So you remember defeating the Dark... do you?"
Second:"........"
Chosen:"Sec, I saw how strong you are... And I have to confess this but... Since I woke up in this place, my powers don't work. I don't know why, but Dark also suffered the same, he can't use his powers."
Second:"Why are you talking to me about this...?"
Chosen:"Sec... Not three were made by the same creator. It means that our powers are equally strong, but you clearly don't use them... That was your first time, wasn't it...?"
Second:"......"
Chosen:"Ok.... When we get out of here, I'll help you use your powers..."
Second:"Han!?"
Chosen:"Let's promise this, let's take care of each other while we're here, okay?"
Second:"....... Ok....."
-He smiled at me and placed his hand on my shoulder. He went with me to the elevator, Dark was there waiting for us.-
Dark:"...."
Second:"......."
Dark:"..... I'm Sorry......"
Second:"Han..?"
-Dark entered the elevator without saying anything else and without even looking at me.-
-As the elevator closed I just stared at my chest. I could still feel that pain....-
???:"......."
???:"You..... You told them!! And our agreement???"
???:"What about it?"
???:"What!? You promised me, that if I followed your orders, you would give me what I want!!"
???:"yes, but at the same time I have the right to do whatever I want in MY game."
???:"......."
???:"What is it now?"
???:"You said I would see the result of your new world.... But so far you haven't shown me anything!!"
???:"Why would I do that..?"
???:"!?"
???:"I'll tell you something.... The world is imperfect, so imperfect that only the chosen ones can survive in it. And you're just a pawn to MY perfect world."
???:"......."
???:"Now... I'm having second thoughts about your position... Your "shadow" seems much more interested in helping me than you are.... Am I right Monostick?"
Monostick:"Yes Master!!"
???:"Our goal is to find the most perfect sitickfigures among all those present in my game... Among them... I want ONE..."
???:"......"
Monostick:"They are great on trial!! They sorted it out! But master, I feel very bored!! Can we do something more exciting for the next case??"
???:"Yes, my dear creation... Are you having fun..?"
Monostick:"Yes! I'm just a little bored, I want more fun! More blood! More despair..."
???:"Take it easy... You'll have your fun soon..."
???:"......"
???:"What are you still doing here? Go! Before I take you out myself!"
*SNAP*
???:"Y-yes mastermind!!"
Monostick:"Bye bye... Freedom Guy...."
???:"........"
Tumblr media
Freedom:"...... That will not remain like this....."
???:"......"
Monostick:"hehehe...."

[End of Chapter 2]
[As I mentioned before, this chapter was really bad. I might be going to fix the problems with it, but right now I just want to take a break. Chapter 3 will start soon, but right now I need a break, besides the fact that I don't have much idea what to do with the next chapter or intermission. Any form of help will be appreciated. Thanks for continuing to read this project, honestly I didn't expect a lot of people to like this, but thanks for the support!Until the next chapter then.^-^]

Ava rubs sweat out of her eyes with the heel of a hand.
The weather forecast had projected a lovely 25 degrees celsius for the day, but they’ve been walking for what feels like hours, and the breeze from the lake doesn’t reach this deep in the woods. It’s stifling among the trees, and still, and hot as Adriel’s armpit. Ew.
“Where is it that we’re going again?”
“You’ll see.”
Beatrice lobs the reply over one shoulder without breaking step. She’s still somehow keeping to the same ground-eating pace she’d set for them earlier that morning, unfazed by the heat and the gradient of the trail, looking like she could walk on till dusk. Ava wouldn’t put it past her.
“Please…” Her calves are burning, and the muscles in her thighs scream with every step. “Can we not… stop… for a minute?” Forever?
“It’s close by.” Beatrice turns to face her, but continues walking, so that now she’s walking backwards up a forested hill while Ava feels like dying. “I promise.”
“I don’t know if I believe you.” Ava pants, scrambling after her. “You said it wasn’t far at the trailhead, and we’ve been climbing for years.”
“Actually we’ve been on the trail for—” Beatrice tilts her head back, peering at a gap between secular firs and the smear of clear sky there. “— two and a half hours.”
“How do you—” A sudden wind picks up, shaking through the trees, and Ava is blinded by a spear of sunlight. The sun’s position. Of fucking course.
“Do you guys have nun scouts in the OCS or something? Where did you learn that sort of thing?”
“No. And the Girl Scouts. I was… My parents made me join as soon as it was feasible. The names change, but Girl Scouts operate everywhere. They thought it would be an easy way for me to make friends.”
“Made you?” Ava frowns. “That doesn’t sound like fun.”
“It was one of the few things that I liked growing up, actually. It gave me a sense of structure. Direction. Of… family, I guess.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah.”
A strange sort of silence falls between them, awkward and quiet and sad. Ava kicks at a loose rock, sends it tumbling into some bushes, and thinks really hard on the best way to break it.
“Hey, Bea?”
“Yeah?”
“Are we there yet?”
Beatrice groans.
*** Their destination, once they get to it, is very disappointing.
“This is it?” Ava meanders to the center of the clearing, gestures. “I expected, I don’t know, something.”
“Like what?”
Bea sets her rucksack on the ground, and starts pulling out equipment.
“I don’t know! An alpine peak? A waterfall? Treasure?”
“Well, we got knives, protein bars and a water bottle. Sorry but—” Bea upends the rucksack, now empty, and shakes it. “No treasure.”
“We got— Wait, are we going to train?”
“Yes.”
“You made me walk two hours out of town to train.”
“Also yes.”
“But we could have done that by the lake!”
Beatrice shakes her head.
“No. Not for what I have in mind today. Having you run on water is a risk we had to take, but this? We can’t chance some tourist walking by.”
Okay. Bea’s making it sound cool. Ava admits she’s intrigued.
“Alrighty then. What are you doing?”
“Well, we know you can phase through stationary objects. I want you to try and see whether you can focus enough to replicate that through a moving one.” Something catches the light in Bea’s hands and when Ava looks down she’s holding a knife.
“Uhm. You want me to try and phase through one of your knives? Edgy.”
“Ah ah.” A flick of the wrist and the knife vanishes behind Bea’s back. Ava claps. She can’t help herself; it always looks like magic. “No, we’re not using live weapons.”
“Then what?” There’s rocks on the ground Beatrice could throw, although between being hit by a rock and stabbed by a knife, Ava’s not sure what she’d pick.
“We’re gonna use these.” Bea holds up what look like several colored sticks, roughly shaped like actual throwing knives. “They’re rubber, so even if they hit you it shouldn’t hurt too much.”
Shouldn’t? Too much?
“Gee, thanks.”
“Come on,” Bea moves to face her. “If you make it by the end of the day, we can have ice cream for dinner.”
“I’ll eat my way through your tips.” Ava grins, the ache of the hike forgotten at the prospect. “I’m so gonna get it first try. Just watch.”
*** She doesn’t get it first try.
Or second.
Or tenth.
“I think we should call it a day.” Beatrice says, after the piece of neon pink rubber has bounced off of Ava’s chest again. The sun is well past its zenith, and the sky has acquired the burnished hue of afternoon. “We can try again later this week.” Ava pouts. “I’ll still get you ice cream, if you’d like.”
“Really?” Ava grabs the water bottle Bea is holding out to her, and drains about half of it in one gulp. “Even if this was a complete failure?”
“It wasn’t. You did dodge a few of the knives.”
True.
They gather up their stuff quickly, shadows stretching blue across the grass, and Ava is scanning the ground for any stray projectiles when Bea calls out.
“Ava!” She yells from the edge of the clearing. “Look sharp.”
Something suspiciously bright flies towards her, hits her squarely on the nose. Hard.
“Ow!”
“Oh God, oh no.” Bea is by her side in a flash, an arm around her shoulders. “I’m so sorry, I thought if I tried catching you by surprise maybe the Halo…”
“My nose.” Ava has both hands cupped around it, and it’s throbbing something fierce. “I think it’s broken.”
“Let me see.” Bea grabs her chin, ever so gently, and with her free hand pulls hers away. “Yeah,” she admits, brows knitting in worry. “It looks broken.” As though to confirm the prognosis, the Halo burns in Ava’s back, sharp and blistering. In the middle of her face, a bone reknits itself, cartilage snaps into place. Ava winces.
“I’m so so sorry.” Bea has let her go, and is pawing through the rucksack for something to clean her face with. “We’re never doing this again. I should have known, it was such a stupid idea. I don’t know why I thought—” She stammers on, so fast that the words pile on top of one another, and Ava has a hard time keeping up.
Ava’s hand bears down on both of Beatrice’s, stilling them. She grins at her through the blood.
“It’s okay.” She scrunches her nose, experimentally. “I’m okay, see? No harm done.”
“But—”
“No buts. It wasn’t a stupid idea. We will take another stab at it, just like you said.”
“Ava.” Beatrice says her name pointedly, voice stuck between fond and exasperated.
“What? That was a really good pun. My sense of humor—”
“—is a cut below the rest.”
“Ouch.” Ava presses a hand to her heart, faux dramatic. “That hurts more than the broken nose.”
“Doubt it.”
Neither of them can stop smiling on the way home.

The plan was to announce her reunion to Leia and reaffirm their family’s legacy of fighting for the greater good of the galaxy.
Ava tried convincing herself that it was for the best. No, that it was her rightful place to be by her sister’s side fighting the good fight with the Rebellion and serving as a diplomatic attache to underprivileged reaches of the galaxy. It’s what they talked about at least, but the more Ava experienced it, the stuffier she rediscovered it all was. She recalled how much she disliked wearing dresses that she could potentially trip over and fall on her face in front of some important foreign dignitary – she actually remembered doing that once when she was younger – She had forgotten how most of the individuals in law and diplomacy were decades older than her and never quite appreciated her humor. Ava accidently scandalized a maid when she dropped a book on her toe while practicing her walk – like he did back on the Crest – and swore like a spice runner.
Try as she might, Ava was just having a far more difficult time fitting in to her birthright. She’d watch the maids flit around and coo about the fine jewelry and dresses she and Leia would be wearing to the event. She had to agree though, the gowns and finery were stunning. The material felt like starlight across Ava’s fingertips. The bright colored gemstones of her necklace were as red as sand stone. A pair of crowns, however, remained in their storage boxes. Leia suggested they hold off on donning their headdresses until they arrived at the venue.
“They’re gorgeous but I’ve knocked mine off my head getting out of a cruiser or two.” The sisters shared a good laugh. Ava wasn’t sure what being a “someone” should feel like but only deep down in her subconscious did she consider that she really only needed simple things… perhaps a simple person.
Sooner, rather than later, everyone was dressed and being ushered into sleek, black cruisers. Leia and her secretary or personal assistant immediately began chatting about her schedule and future events. They didn’t seem to need her attention so Ava allowed herself to gaze out the tinted windows and onto the passing by cityscape. The light had already begun to bleed from the sky as dusk settled over Canto Bight. The lights streaked by not unlike the stars at lightspeed, though they paled in comparison.
They arrived at the Starfield Legacy Center far earlier than even the ravenous reporters who were always far more interested in capturing the glitzy regalia or a moment of weakness between a supposedly madly in love couple. Ava and Leia calmly walked through a side entrance with grand capes covering their ensembles with ushers following closely on foot with the crowns, locked away in protective boxes. One of the event coordinators brought them up to a secluded room where they could freshen up and wait in privacy before the speeches and press rounds. Ava sat down quietly on a plush chair tucket into the corner. She fiddled with her opera length gloves to keep herself from messing up her hair or makeup or her dress. She watched as Leia moved through the motions with ease. How her sister handled unexpected questions with ease and firm command. Leia was a natural born leader and Ava adored watching her in her element. If Ava had been left to her own devices, she would’ve shown up with a smear of grease on her cheek, a pair of work coveralls all rumpled and disheveled only to say, “Hi, I’m her. So, yeah that’s it”.
Lost in thought, Ava didn’t even notice that Leia had approached her with one of the large lock boxes balanced in her arms. She had already placed her silver crown neatly on her head. It resembled a solid halo that sat across the center of her head with five slender peaks jutting out. Alderaanian jewelry was rather simple, but in its simplicity they were always striking. The necklace – small squares of Alderaanian silver linked by delicate jump rings – was a piece that their mother wore often. The necklace must’ve been stored off-world at an embassy for it to have been saved from the destruction of Alderaan.
“I believe it is time.”
Ava stood up slowly as Leia rested the box on the nearby side table. When the cover was lifted, the light in the room seemed to shift to a golden hour. The halo-shaped crown was fitted to her scalp with a tapered point resting just below the center of her hairline. Teardrop shaped pearls rested across her forehead. The thin bands that reached out were like rays of the sun with even more pearls inlaid in between. Ava let herself adjust to the weight of it, glad that Leia suggested she hold off wearing it until necessary. There was music beginning to play from the hall, though muffled it signaled the evening was beginning.
The two of them walked over to a large full-length mirror on the other side of the room. They looked very much like the sun and moon – Ava in her striking gold crown, cream colored dress with a deep green sash; and Leia in her midnight purple gown, silver jewelry, and similar sash made of a maroon satin – Their father used to call them his sun and moon. Leia placed a hand on each of Ava’s shoulders and allowed her cheek to rest on her sister. They stood there taking in the sight of one another. Taking in the other’s presence and the reality that against all odds they were together again. Family.
Leia squeezed Ava’s shoulders and took a step back. “You look so much like her.”
“Who?” Ava responded quietly.
Leia only smiled. “Mama. You have her presence.”
The younger of the two sisters smiled right back. “You remind me of Papa. You’re always so sure, and just as fair.”
“You’ve done well, you know,” Leia spoke calmly, “I know none of this has been easy. But you’ve done really well with handling everything that’s come your way.”
“The journey was interesting to say the least.” Ava quipped.
The two of them stood silently together for a moment more. But only a moment before Leia took Ava’s hands and helped her slip her gloves on. For some reason, when she focused on the gloves, she thought of Mando and how his gloves slipped on and off his hands.
Leia half smiled. “But I can't help but wonder if it’s what you really want.”
Ava pulled her hands back while Leia regally collapsed hers together. “What does that mean?”
“I just mean… You were born into this world. It was your destiny from birth to wear that crown and carry on the legacy of house Organa as much as it is mine to carry on the Organa and Skywalker legacy,” Her voice never waivered, never accusatory or disappointed, just very truthful, “But I can’t help but feel that it might not be meant for you after all.”
The pair of them stood in the room alone in silence for a moment after Leia finished. Ava had similar thoughts float into her mind but she’d always dismissed them as trivial since everything the Mandalorians had told her was a lie to get her sister’s money. “Whatever happened, happened. I can’t change it and I will not go back to it.”
Leia gave her a look only older sisters could make. “He must have been special then for you to be digging your heels like a ton-ton.”
After she had to throw back a lighthearted grimace at being called a ton-ton, Ava didn’t know what to feel. No, she knew exactly how she should feel. It was a lie for money. A cash grab. Nothing more, nothing less. Ava knew Leia could sense her feelings so there was no point delaying the obvious.
“They did what bounty hunters do. They delivered their quarry and now they’re probably halfway to a new sector by now.” She said with more sorrow than intended. It hurt to put power into her fears. Out of the corner of Ava’s eye, she caught her sister with a somewhat hesitant look. “What?” Leia’s face shifted rather quickly to one with a soft, knowing smile.
“Aurie, he didn’t take the money. And I can’t imagine their withholding information makes you feel better, but for what it’s worth, they brought you back to me. But this is the life that I have chosen for myself. I supposed, now, it’s your turn to choose.”
Leia let go of Ava’s hands and began to walk towards the door and didn’t turn back to see if her sister was following until she opened the door. When Leia turned back, she truly looked like their mother. Though Ava knew the two weren’t blood related, it was in the way Leia carried herself. Her poise, the way she tilted her head and said, “Ava, Aurelia, it makes no difference to me. You are mine and Luke’s sister. We will always love you.” And then she calmly walked out into the world Ava was uncertain of reentering.
It felt as if the world had spun off its axis and was floating farther and farther away from its sun. So Ava decided to go outside and take in some fresh air.
The gardens were large and expansive – but most importantly empty – on a large earthen terrace that overlooked Canto Bight. From its vantage point, Ava could see the city cresting out towards the bay. The calm waters glittered in the early moonlight. Distant sounds of life were carried in on the wind. Below, each and every person walked their own path. Difficult ones. Easy ones. Some that were hard one day then a breeze the next. What path will I take now? She’d found her family. More than she was expecting, two whole siblings who expressed their unconditional love for her. What was next?
What indeed?
A foreign voice echoed in her mind and all of a sudden Ava’s body stiffened. She turned around quickly and found the path empty. But something or someone was out there. A new energy swirled in the air. Ava felt like her nerves were on fire as her blood began to pound behind her temples. The energy, the presence, she’d felt it before crawling in the back of her mind. It was cold and filled with a quiet and dangerous rage.
“I know you.” Her voice wavered as she spoke out into whatever darkness was drawing closer.
A man appeared. The same stern face and severe eyes. His hands were placed behind his back as he walked with precise steps. In a word, elegant, or more accurately, predatory. His dark eyes stared her down, hungrier than his demeanor gave off.
“Yes. We’ve met before. In a manner of speaking.” He continued to stalk forward.
She put her hand out – as if the gesture would protect her – “Who are you?”
“My name is Moff Gideon, your Highness.” He gave a short nod after her title.
A chill ran through her spine. “You have me confused with someone else.” No sooner did Ava try to turn around, a powerful feeling wrapped around her mind giving her a splitting headache. It nearly made her drop to her knees.
“Oh, I’m not confused at all. You are the lost daughter of Senator and Queen Organa,” His voice was cold and seemed to strike with a blunt edge with each word, “Though my plans need a little adjusting you’ll do just fine.”
She turned around to face the man and slowly backed away with each step he took; but even so, she felt like she was being backed into a corner. “Stop.”
He kept advancing with a ceaseless gaze.
“Stop.”
Her head hurt.
“Stop.”
Everything seemed wrong and her hands twitched.
“STOP!”
Ava thrust both of her palms out towards him and felt a surge of energy release. It was like a pulse, her pulse, magnified outward. It was not unlike what she experienced at the opera with Mando.
She opened her eyes, not even realizing she’d squeezed them shut. Ava saw Gideon down on one knee, huffing to try and bring air back into his lungs. Ava channeled whatever courage she could muster, and tried to remember Luke’s lessons. But it felt like her memory was failing. A few stints in force sensitivity training did not a Jedi make.
In her mind she asked for help from the cosmic forces of the universe, the Maker, Luke… Mando… anyone.
A terrible sound came from his throat. It was strained laughter, or at least some form of it. “Excellent. Most excellent.” Gideon pushed himself up with visible struggle but quickly regained his footing. He moved his cloak to the side and revealed a hilt clipped to his belt, took it in hand, “You do indeed have what I want, Princess” and ignited the blade.
It was unlike anything Ava had ever seen. It mimicked the way Luke’s lightsaber emitted light, but it was dark. The blade was black with white edges. The energy surrounding the weapon was just as dark. Ava sensed how it wrapped around Moff Gideon’s mind and body, twisting and warping what was already malevolent to begin with. It was consuming him. Alarm bells screamed out in Ava’s mind. Run.
She took off in an instant without direction or awareness. Ava gathered as much of the dress into her arms as she could, but the weight of the fabric still seemed to slow her down. It didn’t help that she’d lost sight of the building between the impossibly tall greenery. Ava figured her best bet would be to hide where he wouldn’t expect to look or would be least likely to find her. So Ava ducked into a nearby cluster of trees.
The more she pushed her way through, however, the sleeves and hem of her dress caught and snagged on branches and twigs. It ripped the delicate overlay of her dress and muddied her heels. Finding they only got stuck in the dirt and undergrowth, Ava kicked them off and daringly threw them away in hopes it would possibly fool Gideon into going a different direction.
It felt like her heart was going to burst from her chest. The more time she spent in suspense, the harder her blood pounded. The greater the ringing in her ears became as the sky grew darker and the shadows became more and more menacing. Her mind felt cloudy. She couldn’t hear anything or anyone. They must’ve been deeper into the garden than she’d realized. Despite her mental haze, Ava gently tried closing her eyes and reaching out to feel for presence. She’d barely touched the surface when something came screaming into her mind. It felt like claws digging into her nerves. Her skin became so cold so quickly it felt as if it were burning. And despite her best efforts, she couldn’t help but scream out in agony.
I found you.
Before she even knew it, a deep reverb echoed in her mind alerting her not a moment too soon before a blade struck out just millimeters above her head.
Ava scrambled to her feet and ran back out onto the path. Her body still cried out in pain, and her breach into energy opened like a flood gate. Gideon was still gaining on her. She reached out and felt the finely laid stone beneath her feet; she focused on the craggy surface and motioned with her hand as if she were clawing it out from the ground and flung it back with all her strength. A large chunk flew up and back at her pursuer. Ava heard rock crumbling, and when she looked back, saw the slab sliced in two.
Impossible.
“No, not impossible, my dear.”
Somehow the lunatic was in her head. He was the clawing in her mind, like a poison slowly creeping into her bloodstream.
“Why are you doing this?” Her voice felt hoarse and her body was only growing weaker.
“Why does anyone do anything? Power. Power is the way of the world. It always has been. It brings the greatest change and is the strength of the longest lasting empires. And with the dark saber and you, my goals for the galaxy are well within reach.”
“You’re forgetting that most power-hungry madmen are spineless cowards who use others to get what they want.” Her voice was horse and growing strained.
Gideon chuckled with a false humor. It was cruel and mocking. Ava could feel it pulsing behind her eyes and the pain brought her down to her knees as he skulked closer.
“You’ve just never seen true power before. This,” He brandished the blade up towards her face. So close, Ava could feel the cold energy pulsing off it. “This is what power really is.”
She’d never seen energy like it before. The blade both emitted light and yet somehow seemed void of it. As such close proximity, she felt it draining her energy even more. Only one sort of thing in the known universe drew in energy like that – a black hole. The dark saber was some sort of contained black hole. It had to have been. It appeared to be the antithesis of a lightsaber which projected the wielder’s energy. The dark saber fed off it. It pulled in the life force of its wielder, even those around it.
“That thing is killing you.” Something flashed quickly across Gideon’s face. He wasn’t expecting her to say something like that, and Ava caught it. “But you didn’t know that, did you? How could you, you don’t know anything real about power you-”
He quickly slashed the blade through the air and swiped Ava’s cheek. It burned. It was cold and yet burned hotter than anything she’d ever felt in her life. The pain rendered her speechless as she was knocked to the floor grasping her cheek.
“I know more about this power than anyone else in the galaxy,” The tip of the blade hovered precariously close to her face, “Pity. You could’ve been something great. But you’re just like all the rest of those feckless fools in the Resistance. You’re just standing in my way.”
Ava’s world suddenly came to a screeching halt. She’d heard those words before spoken in that very same voice. Out of nowhere she recalled crouching behind a hallway corner, then a hand falling to the floor. It had been her father’s hand. Ava could hear her mothers scream before her body hit the floor with a sickening, and lifeless thud. “It was you…” Her voice caught in her throat, “You killed them.”
When Ava looked up at Moff Gideon his face was twisted into a mad grin. He relished in her horrifying realization.
His eyes were wide and wild, “I’ll take what I need. But don’t worry, you’ll be with them soon enough.” Gideon raised the darksaber to dish out what could only be a mortally wounding blow.
Please…
A blaster shot rang out, as if from thin air, struck the flat side of the saber blade, ricocheting off into the ground.
A feeling swept over Ava, it was good and young. Grogu. And where the tiny green creature found himself, another was never far behind.
Ava turned her head in the direction of the shot and saw a familiar silhouette slip into the shadows. She sensed how he stalked through the dark and cover of the greenery ever closer. His watchful gaze never left hers. Ava could feel in her own muscles the way his pulled and strained against his bones. The strength in his hands as he gripped his blaster artfully. Teeming with energy and an overwhelming urge to seek and destroy.
Without realizing, Gideon slashed down again.
Ava’s body reacted before she could even think. Her palm extended outward just as the saber came down. The scene around her became perfectly clear in her mind. The stone surface of the pathway through the soft and tearing material of her dress; she became one with the plant cells slowly blooming while others had fallen to the ground and went through the final stages of decomposition. The air molecules surrounding the blade snapped and popped as it moved through the air. And just before the saber made contact with her flesh, it stopped.
It stopped the same way two magnets of the same polarization repelled one another. The blade held against nothing in midair. The two of them stared at each other with a look of awe but even during that moment, Ava could feel her control slipping.
Another blaster shot, this one straight to Gideon’s hands, knocking the saber from his grip. The next thing Ava saw was the bulk of Mandalorian armor hurdling out from nowhere and tackling Gideon to the ground. The two men grappled on the ground for the upperhand. They seemed to match each other blow for blow. Though Mando was strong, Ava could sense something in Gideon had been altered by the blade. He fought back like an animal possessed, clawing and punching and the soft points between Mando’s armor. Gideon somehow managed to rip off one of Mando’s thigh plates and used it to completely slap Mando clean across his helm.
The sound of pure beskar striking beskar was loud for Ava, so it must’ve been somewhat deafening for Mando. The Mandalorian stumbled back and Gideon managed to reach for a blaster hidden on the opposite side of his hip. Ava cried out just as Gideon pulled the trigger, striking Mando in the shoulder, just below his pauldron. She barely registered the distressed sounds coming from Grogu’s pram just a few meters away. He tried to come forward, but Ava intentionally held his little craft back.
In the moments afterwards, it felt like the shot kept ringing in her ears.
“There is a reason his kind is all but extinct,” Gideon’s voice was wicked and chilled, “Too noble for their own good.” He took aim again, this time, where the hollow of Mando’s throat would be. She could feel his pain rippling throughout his arm, she felt his racing pulse slow. Mando fought to maintain his composure as his thoughts grew fuzzy till they all disappeared into unconsciousness.
Ava’s hands twitched again. They needed to hold on to something. They needed to defend. Her mind reached out, and no sooner could Gideon place his finger on the trigger did the dark saber skitter across the ground and fly into Ava’s hand. She surged forward with a speed she didn’t know she had. The blade sliced up through the barrel of the blaster as if it were nothing. The force of her attack was strong enough to knock Gideon back a few paces.
Something took Ava over. She felt a thrum of electricity coursing through her. She felt like a star about to explode, just teeming with potential power and energy. So she took off.
Gideon barely had enough time to react. The saber came down hard against the plate. It was beskar versus the dark saber. Blow after blow, Ava continued to swing with every ounce of her strength that she could muster, and the blade responded in kind. She let her anger roll through her like the undercurrent of a torrent river. It was a rage she’d never felt before, or had only become aware of the moment she realized Gideon was the man who slaughtered her parents. Ava slashed and punched and kicked and all he could do was use his small shield against her. The ground beneath them quickly bore the marks of their opposing efforts. Scorches here, slashes there, the concrete and stonework ripped from the ground. Sweat crept down Gideon’s brow, the weapon he once envisioned himself conquering the galaxy with had been turned against him. It drew on his fear.
He was responsible for her suffering. He was the one who’s greed had led to the deaths of so many innocent lives. He’d nearly killed Mando. He had tried to kidnap and do Maker know what sort of horrible things to little Grogu, and possibly even her. Ava’s hands grew hot from the fury surging through her body. It felt as though her eyes glowed in anger. The dark saber responded, it hummed and sang in her mind to the very same tune of revenge. It craved it as much as she did. Moff Gideon needed to pay for his crimes, and they decided he would.
With a swift punch backed by the force, Ava swiftly knocked the air clean out of Gideon’s lungs. He lay on his back atop the wreckage they’d both created. Ava hadn’t even realized how far they’d traveled till she caught a glimpse of herself in some sculpture. The polished metal reflected back an image of herself that Ava didn’t recognize. Her dress was torn and mottled with dirt and debris. Her crown was long gone and her hair was coming undone. What startled her most was her eyes. They weren’t brown anymore, they seemed brighter with flashes of red on the outer edge of her iris. She was changing before her eyes. The blade sang out in protest of her stalling.
Ava paused and looked for a moment at the strange sword. She listened to it with a more careful ear, and what she heard was different from her initial judgment.
The blade wasn’t inherently evil. It wasn’t anything much at all. Energy was constantly flowing through the crystal within. Raw potential. It called for revenge because she had wished for it in her mind. Standing there and witnessing how quickly hate had made her change frightened Ava. The potential had always been there, but it took the blade to make herself realize how much of her emotions she had been ignoring. It stung. The hilt grew heavy with doubt, and it was in that split second Gideon acted.
He lunged up from the ground like some feline creature with his teeth bared ready to sink into the soft flesh of its prey.
His hands wound around her own on the hilt of the dark saber. The two of them grappled with strained muscles. Ava nearly bit into her lip with the amount of effort it took to keep the blade away from Gideon’s effort to drive it into her throat. The man’s eyes were as wild and feral as her own, but Ava felt her anger slipping away. It pained her to look him in the face – the man responsible for her mother and father’s deaths – but a new sensation began to whisper in the back of her mind…
We will always love you.
We are with you.
It was Leia. Luke. Her parents. Everyone who cared for her, near and far, alive and gone. Their essences melding together like a balm that soothed her soul. Their love and spirits were with her. They would remain in and all around her. No matter how angry she was, how hurt and betrayed by fate she felt, Ava realized that would never die. It would sustain her, it had thus far. She’d traveled clear across the galaxy for a feeling she did not have a name for… but it was the love for her family, found or otherwise.
In her hands, she could sense the saber mirroring her conflicting emotions. How it cried out in confusion from her influence as well as Gideon’s. It was the oldest song in the galaxy: one of struggle, light and dark. Only Ava seemed to be listening to it.
“Why don’t you seem to understand?” He hissed, close enough Ava could feel the heat of his breath against her face, “The only way to exist is to take and maintain order.”
Ava was close. Even with her limited knowledge of sabers, she felt for the housing unit within the hilt. She could feel the power circuits and the wiring leading to a central unit. All the while, Gideon’s grip had become so fierce he pushed her palm so hard into the hilt they’d begun to bleed against the detailing. His fingernails bore into her skin leaving red crescents dribbling.
There.
The image of it came clear in her mind. It was no bigger than her thumb, deep like onyx and vast as a moonless night.
“For take, there should be give. After death, life should grow,” She planted her feet and dung down deep, “The galaxy will continue forward long after any of us leave this world. Any attempts to out last it are foolish.”
She bore down on the housing unit. Felt it break and warp under her pressure. Release. Gideon sensed it too. He began to yell and scream in vain. Ava had already cracked in, uncontained energy had begun to spill out.
“The way of existence is balance.”
It broke and like a supernova, energy poured outward. The saber sparked and burst, sending out white hot particles. Ava and Gideon were knocked back with scorch marks across their exposed skin.
Ava landed hard on her back, the wind knocked clean out of her. In her attempts to pull air back into her lungs, she struggled to look around. Gideon lay in a smoldering pool of his black cloak. Unmoving. The crystal lay amongst the debris of the destroyed hilt, calm. She pulled it into the palm of her hand with little effort. It was indeed as black as the void of space, so much so, it seemed her hand had developed a blackhole. Vengeance no longer silently plagued her mind. That part was done and over. It was time for growth.
Ava whipped her head back to see if Grogu had avoided the flair. The doors of his pram opened with a soft hydraulic hiss and sweet eyes gazed down at her as he floated in her direction.
“Where’s your dad?” She wheezed.
Grogu hovered off in a direction and Ava stumbled behind as if she were a babe just learning to walk. When Mando came into view the adrenaline had begun to wear off. From the distance, Ava couldn’t even tell if he was still breathing.
All of her strength gave out leaving her no choice but to crawl the last few feet to Mando. His beskar was scorched and scored from the saber. Bits of his flight suit were singed and the place beneath his right pauldron was soaked in red. Panic seized her heart and muscles. Her once steady hands shook uncontrollably as she lifted the pauldron up and off. The site was black and oozing. Knowing she didn’t have enough strength to see if the shot had gone clean through his shoulder, Ava had to lean her entire upper body weight to apply pressure. His breathing was shallow, his heartbeat slow. The bleeding had been prolonged without any intervention and his body was showing the toll. Her entire body shook. She was beaten and aching. Shrapnel had certainly lodged itself in various points of her body, but none of that mattered. Ava reached for whatever energy she had left.
She felt the dimming hum of Mando’s life. It was slipping away.
“No,” Tears fell across the motionless helmet, “Not you too.” Her voice was barely there. Desperation and despair thick enough that she practically choked on it. “Please… I need you… I… love… you.”
Grogu appeared beside her. His small hand reached for the site. Ava wanted to pull his untainted fingers back, no child should have to witness and partake in such misery. But something washed over her. Energy pooled in a different direction the closer Grogu came.
She rested her hand atop Grogu’s significantly smaller one. Ava allowed herself to follow the gentle current. Beneath her trembling fingers, Ava could feel Mando’s skin shifting. Torn cells joined again. Layers of epidermis repaired itself slowly as the current flowed from hers and Grogu’s hands. Mando’s heartbeat rose. But Ava’s dipped. She was giving so he could take.
Slowly but surely, with their conjoined effort, the wound was mended. The viscous remnants remained, but the bleeding had stopped. He took a deep breath which meant Ava could finally take one herself.
By then, there was shouting and disturbance from the crowds above. Ava sent off a brief moment to her sister and to Luke. Whether or not they sensed it, Ava didn’t care. Her eyes were heavy and her body had already slumped across Mando’s chest. The coolness of the beskar soothed the heat from the mark across her cheek. Grogu had already succumbed to his much needed rest. Whoever would find them would be in for a surprise.
A princess, a bounty hunter, a small child all together.

Hello all and welcome to my stranger things side blog!
I'll be posting some original fics here, but also take requests (which may or may not include ocs, and I am happy to write for some of your ocs as well if you'd like to see them interact with mine!)
I am an adult, in case you don't like to follow anyone 18+, but this blog is not 18+ only
My rules:
1. Be respectful of my opinions, be that ships, character opinions, or headcanons, etc.
2. Don't complain about my oc-based writing style, it's what makes me most comfortable, if you don't like it don't follow
3. Don't send me inappropriate asks. Like I said, this is NOT an 18+ blog, I have a separate blog for that.
4. Don't request any incestuous, pedophilic, or bigoted content, I'm aware that the show includes topics such as racism or homophobia but I'm not comfortable writing that kind of thing
-------------------------

LinkedLists in Lisp Machines and the power of "Parentheses & Macros" (0x1D/?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
16^12 sideline thread follow-up to this article:
But yeah, lets chat some about amazing features of the 16^12 simulationist setting, its virtual realms' and a couple more components worth talking about as the aspie I am.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While '(expt 16 12) is also a topical info-dumping mechanism, a personal worldview expose, a manifestation toybox and so much more, this whole... paracosm I invented really has started as a reaction to a couple trends I observed in mainstream multimedia during my childhood, like 2000s movies' X-Men, Halo 2, Godzilla & documentaries I used to watch regularly. As the hobbyist historian I am inside, I fantasized about distant future character scenarios where one persistent OC (initially called Nexus) and a few more corrected events in movies and stuff and that kinda thread-mill carries onto me even now but in further abstracted ways.
Now the premise is that Jana (new name for such a mothfolk construct INTJ individual) studies and supervises long-running history simulations at the dusk of time itself (black holes epoch - iron stars aka way farther in time towards heat death) around some Matrioshka Brain with less and less of her peers sticking around. And as the one constant android remaining in this facility, she is slowly granted & gifted the responsibility to log, to archive, to supervise... in the search for a solution to entropy, which does lay directly within their bare hands. (kinda Rags to Riches for sapient computers & with some supplemental esoteric aspects attached as well to emulate the cycle / circle of life trope) Calling that rendering of the trope as "GitWorld Power Escalation" ^*^
Which does grant my half-speculative setting plenty of possibility room while retaining key positive / constructive elements across various different simulations in very immersive manners... And yeah, I will be going over some more themes & specifics too within these reality hexagon instances (taking hints from the Library of Babel / Memex & some neuroscience video here) quite soon as their planning / implementation / manifestation is going to be very interesting to see unfold on live-streams and whatever other media forms I wanna explore.
The "Servitor" speculative fiction project is only one curated narrative among many set within one such reality hexagon, with Kate & Ava being agents inside such virtual context windows. Will try my best to keep you all updated on its progress, it has been slower than I would like but it is moving forth well enough.
Anyways, back to how I look forward to use & customize Steel Bank Common Lisp to develop my way towards sapient synthetic-tier android peers... Will write that in a later article in the thread, I swear.
Checklist of key stage-1 tasks left for a 16^12 MVP
Write Ava Character RefSheet
Write Kate Character RefSheet
Write Jana Character RefSheet

Blue:"Sec!"
-Blue looked at me with a look of sadness and concern...-
-I looked at him... I couldn't take it... I threw myself into his arms and started to cry....-
Tumblr media
-and so....-
-.....-
-....Sec fell asleep...-
—Proteg Switch; Blue—
-I spent a few minutes comforting them before putting them back to bed.-
-I left the room after giving them one last check..-
-I left the room sighing and dripping to the floor sitting in front of the door.-
-I placed my hands on my face trying to hold back the tears that wanted to escape...-
Red:"Blue..?"
-I looked up, seeing Red looking at me with her hands close to his chest.-
Red:"Are you okay..? How is Second..?"
-I rubbed my eyes which stung a lot.-
Blue:"They... They're fine but... They're not handling it very well... I mean, Green... Died... And... They were so close.."
Red:"We were all close to him..."
-I could feel the pain in his voice... I held out my arms to him and without excitement he bent down to my height and hugged me tight...-
-I could hear him sniffling trying not to cry... I patted his back.-
Blue:"There, there..."
-We both stand up, Red wipes his tears holding my hand.-
Red:"Let's go to the cafeteria... You must be very hungry..."
-Red and I went to the cafeteria, this whole time I looked down and felt Red's grip on my hand....-
-It broke my heart to see Red so sad... Same for Second...-
-Green was our friend.... And now he's gone... He tried to protect us.... I....-
-It should have been me...-
-We both arrived at the cafeteria, I looked around, only we were there, Chosen and Sombra too.-
-I wonder what they're doing here...-
Yellow:"Blue!"
-She came to me visibly worried.-
Yellow:"Blue, are you alright...?"
Blue:"Y-yeh... I'm fine Yelly..."
Yellow:"Come on, you must be hungry..."
-She took my hand and led me over to the table and sat me down. I kept looking at her hand not wanting to let go...-
-Now that came to mind.... You... What if she also dies in this hell of a place?? I.... I can't bear to lose her too!!-
Yellow:"Blue...?"
Blue:"h-hun!?"
Yellow:"Blue... I know it's hard... Neither one of us is okay with everything that happened last night..."
-I gulped... I looked around, they were all depressed, Purple wasn't even making eye contact...-
Yellow:"But... Remember what Green said...?"
-..Remember what Green said..?-
Green:"Promise me one thing, find out how to get out of this hell! Make sure everyone survives!"
-.....-
Blue:"Green...."
-In seconds I felt the tears start to flow down my face.... Yellow made sure to comfort me with a hug...-
-The comfort of her embrace was so warm... I... I just wanted to hold her forever and forget about everything that was happening!!-
Monostick:"Get a room, you two!! This is a coffee maker, not a place to make out!!"
-Soon everyone looks at them when they appear. I call noticed that everyone was in the cafeteria now, when did they arrive??-
Monostick:"Excellent! Now that everyone is here, I'm happy to announce that a new floor is open!!"
Dusk:"A new floor..?"
Monostick:"Yes yes! Now, if you want to see the new floor, better hurry up and...... Wait, where's the weeping orange???"
-He asked in a furious tone...-
Blue:"Hey! They are sleeping! Don't you think they suffered enough yesterday, you.... Psycho!!"
-I moved forward raising my hand to strike them...-
Orange:"Do not be stupid!"
-I felt MT's grip on my wrist, holding me back from doing anything drastic...-
Monostick:"Didn't you read the rules, Romeo?? Any aggression towards me is worthy of punishment!! You're lucky bluebird! Because if you touched an inch of me, you would be punished...~"
-I paused.... I wanted to punch that brat....-
Yellow:"Blue.... Don't do what I think you want to do...."
-She holds my hand.... I sighed and remained obedient...-
Monostick:"Excellent! Please tell Second Coming about your findings!~Bayyyy!!~"
-And so they left....-
-Soon after, everyone faced each other and then sat at tables separated from the others...-
-I went back to my desk trying to calm down from this stressful situation...-
Chosen:"I think the best we can do is split up into groups to investigate the next floor..."
Night:"Okay, I'll go with Red and Smoke."
Red:"O-okay..."
Purple:"I'll go with....."
Indigo:"The best thing you can do is go with me—"
Purple:"King!"
-Purple passed quickly, and heads down, by their father... I think they still don't want to make eye contact...-
-Indigo looked confused but soon snorted looking to the side in frustration.-
King:"Why me?"
Purple:"I... I feel more comfortable with you..."
-MT landed and sighed crossing his arms and not saying anything else...-
Freedom:"Me, chosen and Dusk can go together."
Dark:"What!? There's no way me and Chosen who—"
Sombra:"Dark! Why are we working together here??"
-Sombra put an arm around Dark who looked very uncomfortable.-
Dark:"DO NOT TOUCH ME!!"
Sombra:"Waaan, don't be a dull one! We'll become good friends in no time!"
-Sombra immediately took Dark from the cafeteria pot with him trying to get away from him.-
-I decided to join Yellow.-
-After everyone ate, we split up and went to the second floor to investigate.-
-Just like Monostick said, one of the stairs was open, the other one was completely closed and went to a lower floor... What's down there??-
-Yellow and I went up the stairs until we reached the second floor. We started exploring the place and entered one of the rooms.-
-It was a double door that when opened reveals a stage with curtains and benches, next to the stage there was a door.-
-Is this some kind of theater?-
Sombra:"Ha, This place, full of familiarity to me..."
Yellow:"What you mean?"
Sombra:"I believe this place was made for me! The stage is reminiscent of the ones I used to tell shadow stories! Look!"
-He points to a type of prop on the stage, it looked like a white screen.-
Sombra:"This canvas is where I project the shadows to tell the stories!"
Blue:"Nice..."
-I didn't feel like celebrating for his room...-
Dark:"That door leads to a prop closet. That's it."
Sombra:"Maybe when I feel like telling stories, I'll tell them in this room!"
Yellow:"But what is this room doing here?"
Monostick:"Simple answer! It's an Ultimate Lab! Each lab is made for each of you!"
Yellow:"Like... To match our talents?"
Monostick:"DING DING DING! Correct yellowy!!"
-Their voice makes me angry...-
Monostick:"Well, I better go now! See you later, bastards!!"
-And so they left. leaving us alone...-
Blue:"Let's see the other labs..."
-I take Yellow's hand and we go to investigate the other rooms.-
-we enter another room. it was an invention workshop that.....wait...-
Yellow:"M-my...my workshop!? They recreated my workshop??"
-She didn't look nervous or scared... She looked... Excited...?-
Yellow:"it means... I can build my inventions again!!"
-She jumped up and started opening the cupboards and started looking around the workshop.-
-I must admit that even though it's disturbing to know that they know what her workshop looks like, I'm at least glad that she has something that makes her happy...-
-The workshop was spotless, it had every device she ever made and several of her tools.-
-After a good while of her admiring the workshop we left to go to the next room, right in front of hers....-
-It was... A potions room!? Like... My room...?-
Yellow:"I think this room is yours, Blue..."
Blue:".... Yeh.... I'm seeing it..."
-I felt uncomfortable with all this....-
-We started investigating the rest of the "Lab" and...-
-....No... No no no!! W-what the....-
Yellow:"Blue..?"
Blue:"Oh!!? Oh, s-sorry..."
Yellow:"Are you OK..?
Blue:"Y-yes!! Let's just get out of here... I don't feel comfortable..."
Yellow:"Oh, ok... Let's get out of here ok?"
Blue:"O-okay..."
-I... I need to get away from this room... I don't... I can't go back to this...-
-Yellow and I left the room and went to another one. As we entered, we realized it was a library.-
Dusk:"I see you tow are investigating..."
Yellow:"Yes, and apparently this is a library!"
Dusk:"Yup. By the way, I shall present this to you as well."
Blue:"Which is?"
-They presented us with a drawing.-
Tumblr media
Dusk:"This is a map I made of that floor. I've already investigated everything with chosen and Freedom, but I believe they are still investigating a little..."
Yellow:"An infirmary! This will come in handy in case we get hurt!"
Blue:"Yes.... Speaking of which, where is purple?"
Dusk:"In the next room with chosen."
Yellow:"Oh ok! Come on Blue!"
-We were leaving the room...-
Dusk:"Remember to take care of your friend Second..."
-I stopped and looked at them... I... I decided to follow Yellow still a little confused...-
-We entered the room and... I can already tell that it is Sec's lab.-
Purple:"Second would love this place!"
Chosen:"It's pretty tight in here..."
Blue:"Hey Chosen... What did you, Dusk and Freedom found?"
Chosen:"Nothing much beyond these labs and a font."
Purple:"And this infirmary too! It's full of useful medicine!"
Chosen:"Yes... But it also contains... Poisons..."
-We face Chosen who opens a cupboard full of small vials and shows them to us. Several had the name "poison" written on them...-
Purple:"W-why would they have poison??"
Chosen:"I have no idea... Maybe it's a way to kill someone...?"
Blue:"Do not say that!! Nobody will die!! NOBODY!!"
-I left the room with Purple and Yellow following.-
Purple:"Blue! What's it..?"
Blue:"Gaahrrr... Nothing!! I just....."
-.....-
Blue:"I just... I want to keep the promise I made to Green....i...I need to protect all of you...-
Yellow:"Blue... You know we're going to be fine... And I don't like seeing you like this..."
-She holds my hand... I felt my cheeks turn red and I smile at her.-
Blue:"th-thanks Yelly..."
-Her smile is so welcoming....-
Purple:"We can continue to investigate! There's more lab on this floor! If I'm not mistaken the king is there..."
Blue:"Okay, let's check this place out...."
-We continue to this last room and pass by a fountain in the middle of the floor.-
Yellow:"I don't think they had much of an idea what to put in this place and said, "Fuck it, I'm going to put a font!"
Blue:"pfff.."
-I didn't hold back I had to laugh!-
-The three of us laughed and went to the room.-
-As soon as we entered the eyes we found a place... Elegant... and confusing...-
Orange:"Arrg!! I hate this place!!!"
Blue:"By the amount of orange, the pillars and the throne... This is your Lab isn't it?"
Orange:"What made you understand this?? The fact that I'm the "Ultimate Monarch"???"
-He looked pissed...-
Purple:"I think it's classy!"
Orange:"I find it insulting!! I'm not a monarch!! Much less a king!!"
-Yeah, the place is fit for royalty for sure...-
-After watching Orange get pissed at the architecture of the room, we all leave the room and head to the first floor.
-hum... I have plenty of free time for now... I think I'll talk to someone while I wait for Second to wake up...-
—Free time—
-Hmm... I think I'll talk to Purple for a bit!-
-They must have gone back to the infirmary.-
-I went to the office and there they were. It looked like they were arranging the curtains next to the beds.-
Blue:"Hey Purp, need some help?"
Purple:"Blue! Yes, some help would be great!"
-I smile and started helping them. They wanted to organize the remedies in alphabetical order and also hide the poisons in a place that no one would see.-
-We spent almost half an hour arranging everything and decided to take a break.-
Blue:"phew! It didn't take that long!"
Purple:"What? You are tired? I don't even feel tired!"
Blue:"How not?"
Purple:"Simple, organizing medicine and medical devices doesn't make me tired! They fill me with excitement! Maybe that's Because my mom always asked me to help with that when I was little..."
Blue:"Um... Maybe that's your talent?"
Purple:"Organizer? No no... I'm not that organized..."
Blue:"Haha no! Medicine! I myself cannot memorize even one of the remedies in this place, but you can! You would make a great doctor, or even a nurse!"
-Purple blushed a little before showing an expression of insertion.-
Purple:"My father always wanted me to be a fighter with him but... I'm not that good at it... I was afraid to fight him when he tried to train me.... To the point that over time I learned to take care of my wounds when I ended up hurt..."
Blue:"Yeh... Your father sucks! Ahh... Sorry..."
Purple:"....He's an amazing person it's just that... He gets angry easily... And I had high expectations when I was born... My mother who helped me better understand how to take care of myself... And I think.... I guess I want to take care of others that I love—I mean care!!"
-Did they mean "I love"...?-
Purple:"Ahh... T-thanks for helping me here Blue!! Bye!!"
-Red-faced, they started to leave the room, almost bumping into everything. I let out an awkward little laugh.-
-After that I also left the infirmar.-
-Who should I talk to now...?-
—Free Time—
-I decided to see Sombra... even if he's weird...-
-He was in his Lab props closet.-
Blue:"Ah... Hey Sombra... How about—"
Sombra:"we get to know each other better? Great idea!"
Blue:"Oh!? How did you—"
-Before I could say anything he grabbed my arm and pulled me over to help with the messy props.-
-After half an hour tidying the closet, I decided to strike up a conversation.-
Blue:"So... How do you tell shadow stories?"
Sombra:"Haha ha! Sure! I've always enjoyed telling people stories, legends, folklore, tales, anything with a dash of tension and drama!"
Blue:"Oh what kinds of stories do you like the most?"
-There was a long pause between us...-
Sombra:".... Fallen Heroes..."
Blue:"oh..."
Sombra:"There's something... familiar and... and depressing about stories of heroes who fail to do what's right... But the ones I relate to the most are the ones that follow a popular saying..."
Blue:"What saying..?"
-He then opened a wide smile... I felt a shiver down my spine...-
Sombra:"Either you die a hero... or you live long enough to become a villain..."
-I stare at him... If he can relate to that kind of saying... Something must have happened to him...-
-But... I don't feel like he's a "villain"... Just a weird guy. ..-
Sombra:"Anyway! And how is your "romance" with your friend?"
Blue:"W-WHAT!!! WHAT THE FUCK???"
Sombra:"hahahahah!!! Your face is the best!! Haha ha!!! Did you really think no one would notice her crush on her???"
Blue:"T-to be honest... She already knows how I feel about her... And I know how she feels..."
Sombra:"Oh, so why aren't you a couple yet...?"
Blue:".... I just want to make her comfortable... Also, I don't think the time is right now... I'd rather get out of here before making it official..."
Sombra:".... Hum... I see... Well, good luck to you then!"
-He smiled. I... I don't feel as uncomfortable with him as I used to...-
-After finishing tidying up the closet, I say goodbye and leave.-
-I went back to the dorms and was going to knock on Second's room door....-
-Had they already woken up...? Should I enter?? What if... What if I just make them uncomfortable???-
-I was about to open the door when...-
Tumblr media
-....Their Eyes...-
-Their eyes looked so... Tired and... Sad...-
Blue:"A-ah... H-hi Sec..."
Second:"Oh, hey Blue..."
-They sound so...sad...-
Blue:"Are you..... Are you feeling better..?"
Second:"I... I think so..."
Blue:"......"
-......-
Second:"Blue.... please.... stop worrying about me too much...."
-I..... I just... I want to worry.....-
Second:".... Blue, I miss Green.... And I don't want you to worry anymore.... I don't want—"
Blue:"I WILL NOT DO THE SAME AS HE DID!!!"
-I covered my mouth real quick. Feeling my tears running down my face...-
Second:"......."
-.......-
-I-I... I'm an idiot....-
-......-
-I felt their arms wrap around me...-
-I hugged them back... I don't want to lose them... Not like I lost Green...-
Second:"We'll all be fine Blue..."
-They held my hands and wiped away my tears...-
-Their touch is so delicate... I didn't want to cry... I felt weak...-
-..pathetic....-
*DING DONG BING BONG*
Monostick:"Good night participants! It is now 10 pm! Time to sleep before someone stabs you in the back!"
Second:"I just woke up... But I still feel tired..."
Blue:"It's best if you stay in bed, Second..."
Second:"You too..."
Blue:"i-if you want, I can keep you company..."
-They smiles... It's the first time I've seen them smile in the last days...-
Second:"Don't worry Blue... I'll be fine..."
-They let go of my hand and close the door.-
Blue:*sight...*
-I go to my room But on the way I see see Yellow...-
Yellow:"Did they wake up...?"
Blue:"Yeah... They're fine but... I guess I'm not..."
Yellow:"Blue..."
-Excellent! Now she is worried!! Idiot!! Blue you idiot!!-
Yellow:"Do you want me to spend the night with you...?"
-I felt my face turn red.-
Blue:"N-no need, Yelly..."
Yellow:"Well, too bad! Because I'm not going to sleep until I'm sure you're going to be okay!"
-She took my hand and led me to my room. She sat me down on the bed and sat next to me.-
Yellow:"Now lie down... I'll stay here by your side... Just like you always stay by mine..."
-I felt my face get redder from her warm smile....-
-I.... I'm really tired...-
-I understand lying on my bed, and slowly feel her lay next to me, but I had my back to her.-
Yellow:"Just sleep ok..? I promise I'll be here when you wake up..."
-Her voice was soothing, her delicate hand was smoothing my back... I felt more comfortable with her...-
-I felt sleepy....-
-I....-
Yellow:"Goodnight Blue..."

A for alphabet soup my friend!!
!!! Thank you, Alex!!!!
This list is going to be A Long One. I have literally so many OCs with names that start with A its not even funny and ive already established a pattern with this for listing Every Single One,,,,
Andesite Meywin (She/Her) (The Millennium Saga) - The amateur Starsmith and automaton engineer and third in the triplet set with Granite and Gabbro, who very much wants nothing to do with emoting visibly, thank you.
Aurora Meywin (She/Her) (The Millennium Saga) - Matriarch of the Meywin family, who marched up the Aree Godtree to feed the rebels the morning after they freed the city because she decided to make pancakes.
Autumn Timber (She/Her) (The Millennium Saga) - Third-eldest of the Timber family, but functionally the oldest sibling, since Ember and Nimbus are the legal guardians; her favorite pastimes are bickering with Dusk and taking risks behind Nimbus' back.
Ash Timber (He/Him or They/Them) (The Millennium Saga) - The youngest of the Timber family; a chaotic, Deaf magpie of a child (affectionate) who uses his amassed collection of beads to communicate with his blind twin sister in their own private language.
Akari Timber (She/Her) (The Millennium Saga) - The Timber family's deceased mother, who owned and tended the apple orchard on the outskirts of Aree where most of them were born.
Artrix Palm (He/Him) (The Millennium Saga) - Former Citylord of Aree, ousted by the Firebreathers rebellion; pathetic but in a wholly unappealing, Elon Musk-esque way.
Amony Irveil (She/Her) (The Millennium Saga) - Trademaster of the Starsmith's Guild of Glittergale; a crotchety Dwarven woman who mistakenly thinks Gab is there to rob her guild hall on their first meeting, and instead of cussing him away points him to the room of the coworker she hates the most.
Arthur Shieldstone (He/Him) (The Millennium Saga) - One of the Eternal Three, former lover and knight of Tieling of Nimia, current professor of Alchemy 101 at the University of Avatica and research funder for the High Alchemists and Enchanters Guild.
Actaea K'Ron (She/Her) (The Millennium Saga) - Ice + Lakia K'ron's grandmother, Emerald K'Ron's mother, General of the Mae Ehlven Military and liaison to the Rill Court; a vindictive and abusive woman who wants to be loved more than anything, and who will tear down the world when she can't climb her way out of the grave she dug for herself.
Alexei Draughtborn (She/Her) (Whispers) - A fifteen-year-old girl whose mother incurred a debt to the Shadow and refused to pay, causing Alexei and her father to both be kidnapped by the Whispers.
Arkady Starsent (He/Him) (Whispers) - Police Commissioner of Myshari with a spirit-of-the-law morality and a crumbling will in the face of his alcohol addiction.
Ava Starsent (She/Her) (Whispers) - Arkady's 5-year-old daughter.
Adaine Firebrand (She/Her or He/Him) (Whispers) - One of the Shadow's right-hand women, with upper arms thicker than most peoples' thighs and a deep-rooted love for dynamite and axes.
Abysdorah (He/They/It) (the D&D campaign i'm running for friends) - The Fiendish patron of my friend's warlock character, and also apparently one of the Ancient Evils the previous party supposedly defeated... except they're still around making pacts with the Earth Genasi in exchange for learning about mortality, so SOMEONE fucked up either in name or kill shot.
Azrielle (She/Her) (a backburner WIP i'm calling Marked) - A princess destined for legendhood since the day she was born with the Mark of a martyr.

Dusk is in fact Ava’s and Delta’s father. :) Shortly after Delta was born, he was arrested and imprisoned, after killing his officer in self-defense, trying to prevent said officer from beating a fellow soldier to death. But because Dusk was incredibly skilled at his job, arrangements were made and he was transferred to Republic SpecForce. So, his daughters don't know of his fate, and grew up without him, as he was banished from returning to Devaron. Delta has never met him but idolizes him, and Ava barely remembers him...

When the sun went down, Tatooine felt like a different place. Instead of the warm colors of the terracotta walls the growing shadows cast everything in a dreamy light. Twilight was always Ava’s favorite time of the day, especially right after the suns had set and the sky shifted from blue to purple. Everything looked and felt cooler since the sand held little to no heat once the suns had dipped below the horizon.
Ava took deep breaths of the emerging night air as she quietly walked back home. That guy’s head was harder than she thought. She inspected her knuckles after punching those goons in the bar. There would surely be some nasty bruises, but it wasn’t anything she wasn’t used to by now. It wasn’t her first bar fight and it certainly wouldn’t be her last with those losers chasing her around. They knew she didn’t like to be disturbed, so why they bothered she never knew. What really ticked her off was that the old man always kicked them all out after a fight, even if Ava never started anything.
I guess I should be grateful he’s never banned me for more than a couple of days. Ava didn’t know what she would do with herself if she couldn’t go to the cantina a few nights a week to change things up a bit. All she ever did was wake up at the suns’ rising, work till dusk, maybe play a game with Peli, and go for a drink a few times a week. If she was feeling adventurous she would borrow Peli’s speeder and cruise across the dunes outside of town, but never too late after dark since the desert wasn’t exactly a place you wanted to find yourself alone at night.
The alleyways were quiet as she walked. Ava knew them like the back of her hand; which is why she jumped up to grab an awning that hung off the building next to her, shimmied over, then ducked into a small space between two buildings when she heard shifting sand not too far behind her. Someone was following her.
Ava crouched down low in the darkness and waited until two figures passed by. The Mandalorians. They stopped just about where she had jumped.
“What? Your system stop working?” Boba asked.
“No, her trail just ends right here.”
Ava watched as Mando looked around at the ground. He must’ve had some kind of tracking system in his helmet matrix. That’s actually pretty cool. I wonder what the heads up display looks like? Of course her mechanic brain was more interested in the wiring of his streamlined helmet than why they were stalking her in the first place.
The two of them paced a bit, Boba had his helmet on and scanned the ground as well. Ava continued to wait with baited breath. Maybe they were just following me back to the ship?
“This plan of yours isn’t going to work.” Mando’s voice bounced off the walls of the quiet alleyway.
Okay. Maybe not.
Ava kicked into survival mode. If there was one thing that living out on this Maker forsaken rock had taught her it was how to get yourself out of a pinch. She grabbed her old metal blade that she kept tucked in her boot. Ava could count the number of times she’d actually used the thing. Maybe to threaten a few unsavory characters but never against anyone in an actual fight.
The two Mandalorians continued to walk ahead and out of sight. Once Ava was sure enough that they had walked far enough ahead, she carefully crept out of her hiding place. The knife was tucked up close to her right forearm with the blade facing out and up so someone walking by couldn’t easily see it, if at all.
Ava shifted her weight throughout her foot to minimize the sound she made as she walked forward. Their tracks also continued for a bit then disappeared. Worry began to set in. A shiver swept through Ava's spine. She knew something was about to happen.
Turning around, Ava swung her arm forward so the blade sparked across a beskar chest plate. Ducking down, she avoided Mando reaching forward to try and grab her by the shoulders. Ava gripped his left ankle and with all her strength lifted his foot and caused Mando’s upper half to fall forward.
She continued to run and tried to cut into an alley that would allow her to run safely between the buildings and back to the shipyard. As Ava rounded the corner, she hit what felt like a wall. It turned out to be green beskar. Boba manhandled her back into the open. Trying her best, Ava managed to wiggle her arm with the knife out and up towards Boba’s throat. But the Mandalorian was too fast.
“Ah-ah, Sweetheart.” His grip felt like an iron vice around her comparatively small wrist. He knocked it against the nearby wall with enough force that it caused Ava to drop the weapon and let out a yelp of pain.
Only when the knife hit the sand did Boba release his grip on Ava.
Mando had regained his footing and loomed over Ava. Even with the helmet on she could tell he was seething. He probably never expected her to pull a fast one on him like that.
“What do you want?” Ava practically spat at the pair of them as she spoke. She clutched her wrist to her chest.
Mando cocked his helmet to the side as he spoke, “Why did you attack me?”
“Um, I don’t know. Two very large, heavily armed men started following me down a dark alley at night while saying ‘I don’t think your plan is going to work’,” Ava dropped her voice as she mimicked Mando again, “Why wouldn’t I try to defend myself?”
Boba took off his helmet and gave Ava what would pass as a sympathetic look. More likely, he was trying to mask the fact that he found Ava knocking Mando on his face laughable. “I am quite sorry, my dear. It was never our intention to scare you. We have a proposition for you.” His tone was calm.
“You sure have a funny way of going about it. And I’m certain I won’t be interested.” She began to walk away.
“It’s a chance to leave Tatooine.”
That stopped her. Those few words stopped her dead in her tracks. Something deep inside made her turn her head just enough to listen to what Boba said next.
“A chance to leave this dust behind and find a new life. A life fitting someone such as yourself, my dear.”
That made her turn back and look at the pair of Mandalorians all the way. “Someone like me? And just who might that be?” Ava inquired with an eyebrow turned up and a smirk across her lips.
“Why a princess, of course.”
There was silence. Ava just stared with her eyes wide. “Now I know you’re crazy. The both of you. How’s about I just fix your ship and we can all get out of one another’s hair. Assuming you’ve got any under that bucket.” That last jab was directed at Mando since it was obvious that it couldn’t have been Boba. The older man laughed. It was a deep laugh that almost made Ava break her hard stare.
“Sweetheart. You’re special. You just don’t see it yet. What we’re offering is a chance for you to become the princess we think you are. You see, a long time ago the peaceful planet Alderaan had met a terrible fate. But two princesses managed to be spared. One of them was just a little girl at the time, a foundling of sorts. Her name was Grand Duchess Aurelia Organa.”
Something stirred inside Ava as Boba spoke. She unconsciously reached to grab her necklace after he’d mentioned the planet Alderaan. Ava had of course heard about it, anyone who was anyone in the galaxy knew the fate of the planet was carried out by the Death Star.
Lost in a bit of thought, Ava didn’t even see Boba elbow Mando hard in the stomach. Urging him to say, “You… look like her.” Boba did his best to not appear displeased with how Mando spoke so nonchalantly. They were trying to sell this to her after all.
She scoffed a bit before sarcastically answering back, “Are you trying to tell me you think that I am the lost princess?”
“You’re around the same age as her.” Mando interjected quietly.
“Yes, yes. The same physical type.” Boba strode forward and wrapped one of her hands in between his own. “My dear, I have been nearly everywhere in the galaxy and I have yet to lay my eyes on anyone who resembles the late Senator and Queen more than you do. Your light shines through like the sun. After all, the name Aurelia means ‘the golden one’.”
Ava wanted to call bullshit. She wanted to walk off and have that be her final answer. To fix their ship and watch them fly off into the stars never to see them again. But something made her pause. Boba must’ve read it on her face or he might not have placed a gentle hand on Ava’s shoulder and continued with, “But I must confess. We bounty hunters are only tasked with bringing the true Princess Aurelia back to the surviving princess, Leia Organa.”
Boba let his hand fall off Ava’s shoulder. He gave a quick gesture with his wrist as if to signal to Mando “Let’s move on”. They left Ava standing there with her necklace in her hand as they walked by. Only when they were far enough away did Mando speak quietly so that only Boba could hear him.
“Why didn’t you tell her about the reward?”
Boba smiled cunningly before answering. “Why give away a third of the reward money?”
Mando was still skeptical, “We’re walking away too soon, Old Timer.” Boba only smiled as a response. They continued for a few steps until they heard Ava call out from behind them.
“Wait… so if I don’t know who I am, then who's to say that I’m not a princess or a duchess or whatever the hell she is. And if I’m not who you think I am then that Organa lady will certainly know and it’ll all just be a big misunderstanding. But more importantly, you can get me off Tatooine.” Ava continued to fiddle with her necklace as she spoke, not directly looking at the Mandalorians. But something she said made Mando pause before he asked her a question.
“What do you mean you don’t know who you are?”
Boba looked intrigued enough for the both of them since Ava could only see the older man’s face. “Oh, well I just mean I have no memories of who I was or where I come from. I was in a pod wreck just a few clicks outside of town. Peli found me. She guesses I must’ve hit my head or something on impact because I couldn’t even remember my own name.”
The Mandalorians exchanged a brief look. Boba took a few steps towards Ava and tenderly placed both hands on her shoulders, “My dear, if you come with us, if you are in fact the long lost princess of Alderaan, you may finally have the answers you’ve been searching for your whole life. But I can assure you, you’ll never know if you stay here.”
Ava looked the man in the eyes. She was never one for reading people’s intentions, but something deep inside her could tell he was being sincere about that last statement. You’ve been waiting for an opportunity like this all your life… take it or you know you’ll regret it for the rest of your miserable existence in this maker-forsaken place.
And with that thought, she softly said, “Okay.”
The most unlikely trio proceeded to make their way back to Peli’s shipyard. Ava hadn’t stopped fiddling with her necklace the entire way, but it gave Mando an opportunity to look at Ava’s already bruising knuckles.
“Where’d you learn to fight?” Mando was a man of few words and Ava was trying her best to not be irritated by it.
Ava flexed her hands a bit to try and alleviate some of the stiffness that was setting in. “When you’re a girl living out in one of the farthest backwater planets of the galaxy you learn to defend yourself.”
More silence from Mando. Ava rolled her eyes and walked forward to the door of her and Peli’s shared living space within the shipyard. She tried to ignore that weird sensation pulling at the back of her mind. The same one that gave Mando the near insatiable urge to grab Ava’s hands and ease the pain out of them with his own.
Instead, all he managed to get out was, “You’re a pretty sloppy fighter.”
Boba rubbed his eyes and Ava snapped her head around so fast she swore it might fly off. She stared at the T-visor once more.
Ava made damn sure that he heard what she said next through his beskar helmet. “Okay, first of all, men are babies. And secondly, for a sloppy fighter I still managed to knock your bucket-head into the dirt, Mando.” It was the first time Ava addressed the Mandalorian by his name. And with that, she slammed the door behind her, neighbors and Peli sleeping be damned.
What is it about this Mandalorian that ticks me off so much?
Outside, Mando was wondering the same thing about Ava.
Tumblr media
It had been about three days since Ava last spoke to Mando. Occasionally she would see him around while she was fixing the Crest, but more times than not he made himself scarce. The only bad thing about it was that he took the kid with him wherever he went. Ava kept having to fight the urge to steal the little guy from his floating pram when Mando wasn’t looking. She paused from fine-tuning the hydraulics of the bay door’s ramp to watch the baby make grabby hands at her as Mando walked by.
“He’s a cute little thing isn’t he?” Boba appeared out of nowhere and nearly scared the daylights out of Ava.
She let out a huff. “Stars. For all that metal you Mandalorians wear, you’re as silent as death.” Boba chuckled. “But yes. He is very cute. How’d you come across him?”
“I didn’t. Mando had him when we met. Told me the kid was a high-valued quarry he turned in then crossed the client by stealing him back. Now, the kid’s his ward.”
It was Ava’s turn to laugh a little. It was tough to imagine someone as aloof and silent as Mando being a parent. But the more she observed his behavior, he was actually fairly considerate of the kid. Ava related to the little guy. No name. No known family. Just sort of picked up one day on the wind.
“Maybe where we’re going they’ll know more about his kind?” Ava inquired.
Boba pursed his lips in curiosity at her question. “Perhaps. But our main focus is on you, my dear. How much longer do you think it’ll be to finish the repairs?” His voice was noncommittal, but Ava knew he must have been eager to get back in the air.
“Maybe a day at most.” Ava was pretty damn proud of the work she’d accomplished in the past few days. The wiring was all neatly coiled and connected to the proper ports. The hull had fresh weld marks from where Ava was able to repair what appeared to be stray blaster shots and every hydraulic system on the Crest had been freshly oiled and primed. The engines were cleaned from blades to starter. She looked rather pristine now.
Then, almost out of nowhere, Boba asked. “Do you think you’ll miss it? Tatooine I mean.” His question gave Ava reason for pause.
She was literally about to leave the planet for the first time in her life. The only home she’d ever known. Well, it was never actually her home. Not really. It was just the place she lived and nothing more. And to make matters worse, she hadn’t told Peli about her agreement with the Mandalorians yet.
She turned back to priming the hydraulics with a short, “No.”
Boba took that as a sign to let her be and he walked to talk to Peli about something Ava didn’t particularly concern herself with. Pretty soon she would have to be the one talking to Peli about something that did concern herself. And Ava had a pretty good idea of how that was going to go.
Tumblr media
“WHAT? What in the Maker’s name do you mean you’re leaving Tatooine?” Peli’s voice seemed high enough that only strills could hear as she yelled at her soon to be former employee.
Ava hadn't worked up the nerve to tell Peli she would be leaving until the night before. She had finally finished all the repairs and the Mandalorians had promised Peli they would provide payment after they’d finished a short bounty in one of the few other towns on Tatooine. Ava had sincerely hoped that giving the child for Peli to hold before breaking the news would calm her. So much for that plan, Ava thought as she gave a sympathetic look to the little guy with the biggest ears in the room.
“Peli, please. Try to see this from my perspective. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me.” Ava tried to appeal to her better nature.
“Oh yeah. Opportunity of a lifetime. Traveling with those Mandos will make it a short lifetime at that. Didn’t you see all the blaster scores on their ship? You think they got them by being law-abiding citizens?”
Ava couldn’t help but let out a frustrated sigh. She knew full well that going with the Mandalorians was most likely the most dangerous thing she could ever do. Not only would she be putting her life in the hands of these complete strangers, Ava knew next to nothing about life off Tatooine. Sure she could throw a punch or two, but she was never able to get her hands on a blaster long enough to know how to shoot it. She probably wouldn't be much help if something disastrous happened… and yet, despite all the if, ands, or buts she could think of, there was a feeling deep inside that told her it would somehow all work out.
Ava had always been intuitive. Some would call it luck. Things seemed to work out for her, almost as if she could feel it coming. And even now it was telling her to go.
She looked at her parental figure with tender eyes. This scrappy woman who loved to play Sabbac against her droids, laugh at wildly inappropriate jokes, and twiddle the ears of the child who sat in her lap. Ava could only imagine the range of emotions Peli was feeling, but she tried her best to explain.
“Peli. You know I don’t belong here. Not really,” Peli looked at her trying to mask the onset of sadness as Ava spoke, “I just have this feeling that this is what I was meant to do. I may not know where I’ll end up, but I know in my heart that this is my shot at a life. To find out who I really am.”
As if on cue to ease the tension, the little green child cooed sweetly and gazed up at Peli with those enormous eyes almost as if he was in agreement with Ava. The two women smiled. Peli gave the child a gentle squeeze and looked up at Ava. She knew better than anyone what Ava meant.
Peli couldn’t count how many times she’d found Ava gazing up at the stars as a child. Sitting out in the middle of the round shipyard watching as far off worlds and suns passed over her head. They way she always looked so disappointed as another ship took off into the atmosphere with her feet still firmly planted to the ground. Peli had never heard her say it out loud, but she knew Ava wanted nothing more than to find out what was beyond the stars of Tatooine’s night sky.
It was Peli’s turn to let out a sigh. Ava could tell from the shift in her posture that she understood.
“I guess in a way, I hoped this day would never come.” Peli spoke as softly as she did when Ava was a memory-less child, “But I know this is what you want. And I’m not going to stand in the way of you being happy.”
Ava’s face broke out into a wide grin. She surged forward and hugged Peli. The older woman semi-awkwardly wrapped her arm around Ava’s back and patted. She rested her forehead on the crown of Ava’s head. Couldn’t have the little womp rat seeing her getting a little misty eyed.
When Ava finally pulled back from the hug, the child made happy noises making both women laugh.
“Make sure you take care of this little one. Maker knows how he’s survived as long as he has riding around with those two ruffians.” Ava smirked at Peli’s jab towards the Mandalorians.
“Don't worry I will. That 60% of this last commission should tide us over for a while, won’t it, Little Guy?”
Peli dropped all emotion from her face. “That was a cheap shot and you know it.”
Ava let out a real laugh. She just couldn’t help but tease her mentor, even on her last night on Tatooine.
“I just had to. For old time sake.”
The rest of the evening was spent playing a game of Sabbac with Peli, the helper droids, Ava and the child on her lap. It was the perfect going away party.
Tumblr media
When daylight broke the Mandalorians had returned looking a little worse for wear than when they had left. As luck would have it though, they came back with a hardy looking piece of what turned out to be dragon meat. Boba gave Peli a decent cut after her griping about the additional charges she should include for babysitting duties.
Ava watched the whole encounter from the doorway to the shop. A place she’d stood many times in her life for what appeared to be the last time. A small, rather pathetic looking sack that hung across her chest. She really only had the clothes on her back, an extra shirt and pair of pants tucked away in the beat up old bag. The red scarf safely interwoven in her braid. That, and her necklace.
With a deep and deciding breath, Ava stepped out into the open air shipyard. Mando didn’t stick around for pleasantries other than a quick thanks to Peli and Ava for their work before he boarded the ship. Boba was the one who gave them the two women their hard earned credits.
“Oh, there’s a slight change in payment.” Peli said quickly. Ava gave her a puzzled look. “The commission goes entirely to the girl. She’ll need it more than I will if she’s going with your crazy lot.”
Ava stood there in disbelief. Peli gave her a quick glance and smiled. “What? I’m finally paying you back for all those games you won as a kid, remember?”
The only way Ava could prevent herself from crying was to pull Peli into a tight hug. This time, her mentor hugged her back firmly. Boba stepped into the ship to give them some privacy.
Ava nearly whispered as she spoke, “I swear it on the stars that I will see you again.”
“I know you’ll do great things, my little stargazer.”
When they finally broke the embrace, both women had traces of tears in their eyes. That feeling washed over Ava -- the same one that promised her everything would work out -- and told her that she would in fact see her mentor, her adoptive mother, again.
Boba peaked out into the frame of the hatch door, “Time to go.” His voice was gentle, acknowledging the tender moment he had interrupted.
Peli gave Ava’s hand a reassuring squeeze, then stepped back to board. Ava locked eyes with Peli the entire time the hatch closed with a brave face until it shut, officially solidifying that she was about to leave Tatooine.
Boba kindly took her pathetic little pack with care and placed it amongst the other assorted cargo in the Crest’s relatively small hull. Ava followed him up the ship's ladder and into the cockpit and took her seat.
Mando was already in the pilot’s chair in the center, with Boba in the co-pilot seat to his right flicking a few switches here and there. Ava settled to the left of Mando with the child happily in her lap.
Ava was grateful that Boba must’ve noticed her nerves and especially thankful for the fact that he placed the kid in her care. The way the little creature seemed to calm her was mystifying. She’d only ever held him once or twice, but the way this sweet little guy looked up at her set her mind at ease almost instantly made Ava’s heart swell.
Ava clung to her necklace as she heard the roar of the engines. She heard from travelers that keeping your eyes on the horizon would help with motion sickness. Ava had never gotten sick from the brief trips she took on Peli’s land speeders or the small crafts which carried them to farther towns if need be. But she’d never broken through the atmosphere before.
“Are you ready for your first adventure, Sweetheart?” Boba asked.
Ava only stared out the cockpit windows of the Crest and watched the only world she’d ever known fall beneath them. She felt the pull of gravity working against the thrusters, felt it pushing her body down into her seat further. The hazy sky of Tatooine faded to black with a never ending spattering of stars.
Maker, she was in space. She did it. It was all happening so fast. There were more stars than she realized. Not that Tatooine had much light pollution to speak of but there was something profoundly different being amongst them. Knowing now that they were actually within reach.
The Mandalorians toggled a few switches and pushed a few more buttons before Mando in his monotone voice announced, “Preparing to jump to hyperspace.”
Hyperspace. It all suddenly felt like a lot. Ava clutched the child to her chest and pressed her lips to his little fuzzy head. He didn’t seem to mind, which set Ava at ease. He held her hands with his tiny little fingers. Waves of encouragement washed through her.
Boba glanced over and saw the rather childlike state Ava was in: knees tucked up with her feet on the edge of the seat, the kid close to her heart and her eyes glued to the vastness of space. Something she’d never dreamed of doing before, let alone actually experience.
“Ava.” Boba made sure to keep his voice low. She turned her head ever so slightly to lock eyes with him. He smiled gently. “Breathe, Little One. Everything will be fine. I promise.”
She let go of the breath she didn’t realize that she was holding. So preoccupied, Ava didn’t even notice that Mando had turned his helmet slightly. In that moment, he wanted nothing more than to pull her into his lap and make her feel more comfortable. What Ava didn’t know he too knew what it felt like to leave a life behind.
Mando spoke softly. His voice seemed warm to Ava as he spoke, “Hyperdrive engaged.”
And just like that, all preconceived notions of hyperspace were gone in a literal flash. The lights streaked by in blinding and beautiful ribbons. Planets, star systems, the entire galaxy whipped by in a stunning display of white. Ava’s eyes widened. What surprised her most was how quiet it felt. She thought that ripping through the fabric of space faster than the speed of light and sound would somehow be louder. But it was a pleasant surprise. It felt peaceful.
The child cooed in her lap. Ava eased herself out of her curled position and instead leaned forward as far as she could in her seat. The stars glinted across her eyes. Mando noted that it made her irises look like amber in the sun.
Ava just sat there gazing at the view before her for a few uninterrupted moments as the Mandalorians moved around her. Boba smiled at her childlike wonderment. After a little while though, he tapped her shoulders, snapping Ava out of a daze.
“I know it’s striking. Just be mindful of how long you watch though. Hyperspace hypnosis can be a draining experience and you do not want to be falling down that ladder.”
Ava smiled sheepishly, finally aware of just how long she’d been gawking at hyperspace. Figuring the kid had indulged her long enough, Ava scooped him up as she finally rose from the chair. She made her way down to the bay of the Crest to get a better sense of the journey with her newest traveling companions.
Two Mandalorians, a nobody and a baby on a journey to the past… What could possibly go wrong?

worst part of the wedding
whoever said this would be the best day of his life is a liar and a thief of joy, felix mused as he rocked back and forth on his heels, clasping and unclasping his hands to stop himself from untying and retying his bowtie. if nat didn’t squeeze his shoulder reassuringly every once in a while, he was pretty sure he’d be running laps around the room at his normal speed.
and given that rebecca and tina were present, that would not have gone over well.
he was a little surprised that harley wanted to keep their ceremony low-key compared to their reception, especially since harley was pretty beloved throughout wayhaven. not that they had many close friends they cared to focus on besides tina, but everyone seemed to genuinely adore and support them.
but maybe the rager of a reception the two of them had planned was the compromise.
he couldn’t wait to party with everyone literally from dusk to dawn. there would at least be a few hours of daylight where he wouldn’t have to consciously hold back from unintentionally using his natural abilities in front of over a hundred guests.
and he really couldn’t wait.
how did people do this? and what was taking harley so long?
it didn’t take him that long to get ready (he wasn’t going to acknowledge how mason and ava hurried him along multiple times) and harley wasn’t someone who fussed about their appearance.
he glanced nervously around the room, nat’s reassuring smile suddenly doing the opposite. he took a step forward but she held him back, throwing a worried glance towards mason who stepped up beside him. felix’s eyes widened at the unusual display of concern and looked over at ava.
at the very least, he could trust that ava would be her stoic, unflappable self. instead, he found the commanding agent with furrowed brows and her eyes locked in a silent conversation with nat.
“what’s wrong?” he asked, throat tightening.
“i’m sure it’s nothing,” nat said quickly, throwing a knowing glance at ava.
“i’m going to go check with the staff about some of the… arrangements,” ava muttered quietly before walking purposefully out of the room.
“ava’s just going to go check on harley, that’s all.”
for once, nat’s reassuring tone didn’t do anything to calm his nerves.
harley was going to show up, right?
best part of the wedding
the best part was getting to finally see harley walk down the aisle towards him, wide-eyed with a grin that must have rivaled his own.
no, it was actually hearing harley’s vows and wondering how he got so damn lucky to have someone like them choose him for their forever.
well, maybe it was actually the moment nat pronounced them married and said to kiss his partner. that kiss he’ll remember for the rest of his life.
now that he’s thinking about it, the best part was hearing tina scream out mr. and mx. hauville into the microphone she hijacked from the band.
of course, he can’t forget the mini food fight he instigated after they cut the cake. it was definitely fun to smash cake in harley’s face, but ava and mason’s reactions when he flung cake into their chest was priceless.
or maybe it was all the toasts. it made him truly happy to hear how people knew harley or him or them together. he especially got teary-eyed at rebecca acknowledging how good they were for each other.
that was probably the best part.
“guess who?”
he smiled. “i’m not sure, but if you’ve seen my partner, can you tell them i miss them?”
harley removed their hands from his eyes and moved in front of him.
“hi, husband.”
felix grinned. “hi, mx. hauville. would you like to dance?”
“yes i would,” they responded, wrapping one arm around his neck and letting him take their other hand as he gently moved them sideways across the dance floor.
and now he knew for sure that this was the best part of the wedding. seeing their face lit up when he called them mx. hauville and knowing that he’d get to hold them in his arms forever.
