Tumblr media
Ao’nung was mean, you’ve seen how quick he is to bite back and claw at any opportunity that gives him a moment of glory against his rivals, plenty of times.
Ao’nung is mean to everyone, everyone but you, and his family, and maybe Roxto.
Excluding those people, ao’nung has never tried to purposefully hurt your feelings, maybe in a moment of childish banter, he has said mean things that are fleeting, they go away as quickly as they come because he sees the look on your face, and says sorry with a heavy heart.
Some days he is not as apologetic, and delays his apologies until a day or two, you walk away with hurt, anger, and hesitation but he always comes to u, can’t bare being away from you, his girl.
You are sitting on the sand, knees up to your chest as you gaze upon the sea, muscles sore from swimming all day. You almost fall asleep as the peaceful sound of the waves lulls you but alas, your one and only makes his presence known with his loud greeting.
“My tanhì, you look a little lonely!” ao’nung chuckles and sits down beside you, right beside you. No literally, he’s so close that your arm and leg are touching his. Why’s he so close? There’s literally so much space? You’ve stopped questioning it, he’s been touchy with you since forever.
He ruffles the top of your head affectionately, the little smile on his face tells you he’s in a good mood. “hi ao’nung” you say softly and give him a sweet smile, god he almost just melted at the spot, “you seem happy today”
“i am” he replies shortly and you lay your head on his shoulder, letting out a satisfied sigh at finally seeing your favorite person.
his hand finds it’s way to your leg and he gives you a prompt squeeze on your thigh, affection came as naturally as breathing to him when it was with you.
Your eyes roam around the sea as you look at the people smiling with their ilu’s and splashing around in the water, you catch a glimpse of a group of 4 girls as you shudder with the piercing look they give you. You recognize those girls as Tsireya’s friends, remembering her telling you about her dislike for a lot of their decisions. She told you to avoid them, they’re no good.
You furrow your eyebrows in confusion when you see the said girls make their way to you and ao’nung, probably only having matters that deal with ao’nung, you’re pretty sure they’ll ignore your whole existence if anything.
You being this close to The Olo’Eyktan’s only son ignites some sort of resentment in them, automatically making you their competition and viewing you as a threat.
“bruh not these chicks again” ao’nung mutters quietly in irritation and lets out a groan into your hair, hoping they’ll go away if he can’t see them. You giggle but your smile is gone as soon as the girls stop right in-front of your bestfriend. “Ao’nung!! We we’re gonna go take a swim with our ilu’s, I think you should join us! Im sure sitting here watching the ocean isn’t that interesting” the girl’s giggle thinking Ao’nung will get up and follow them without a word.
For a second you believed so too, what you were doing wasn’t that fun, but you didn’t want fun, you wanted calm.
“fuck no” you hear pure distaste in ao’nung’s voice, it makes you cringe, the second hand embarrassment of straight rejection in the face. You smile, he’s really showing no interest in these girls, you almost feel bad, but whats it to you?
“oh- well- you can- you can always come join us later or whatever, whenever y/n lets you go” you’re a bit offended, you aren’t holding ao’nung back from anything, especially these girls, any choice he makes is solely his decision.
“nah im good i prefer y/n anyways”
“whatever” the girls huff and puff and stomp off the space you guys we’re currently sitting at
“bit mean, don’t u think”
“i don’t care” you smile at his quick response
“i think a lot of people dislike our friendship ao’nung, you’re the next Olo’Eyktan and they think i’m competition. They can’t let me ruin their chances of becoming Tsahik.”
“tanhì, what are you even saying?”
“i just.. what i mean is.. you’re almost ready to find a mate, and you must choose wisely, as your choice will be the next Tsahik for our clan, she must work with you as one, and i feel like i’m holding you back from finding a good mate”
Ao’nung pays attention to you, listening to your worries with furrowed brows, he’s so good to you, always. It makes your heart squeeze when you think of him being this affectionate with any other girl, you’re selfish, you want him to yourself.
As much as this hurts, you will be open with him, but you will not open your heart to him as of now. You sigh, he grabs your hand and his thumb rubs soothing circles, telling you to continue.
“i think.. i think re’yal is a beautiful girl, her parents are talented and she takes after them-“ you are cut off.
“i couldn’t care less for re’yal” you tilt your head in confusion
“na’yi is a good healer”
“she is a good healer.”
Ah. It’s Na’yi that he’s chosen then. You look up at him, unable to stop your head from moving. He smiles. Ouch.
“i have the stupidest girl sitting in front of me right now” you hit him gently in the chest, he catches your hand and intertwines his fingers with yours.
Woah. You’ve held hands multiple times but not this way. It feels different. You’re almost about to throw up.
Your eyes quickly drop down to his lips, god, you pray to Ewya that he doesn’t notice.
He does notice, and he thinks you’re so cute he could make-out with you right now.
“she’s so stupid but she’s also the prettiest, she’s really cute too, i think she’d make a great tsahik” you’re embarrassed now, what does this mean? why’s he such a jerk?
“i don’t think Na’yi wo-“
“tanhì, i don’t care about Na’yi, i do not want her.”
“Ao’nung.. allow me to help you, you cannot delay this anymore”
“y/n you just don’t get the hint do you?”
“what?”
Ao’nung groans frustrated, he looks around to see if anyone is watching, what he’s about to do right now might cause issues, he can’t find himself to care any longer though.
Ao’nung cranes his head enough so his lips are an inch away from yours, he looks at you with lidded eyes and you’re already looking at him
“let me kiss you” he asks and you don’t wait, you nod and he smashes his soft lips against yours, desperately. You’ve been wanting to do this, been wanting to kiss your bestfriend.
He grabs the back of your neck to deepen the kiss, damn, he’s a good kisser. Not that you’ve kissed anyone else before, but he’s making you feel really good.
It’s fast, and you both are desperate, impatient, and incredibly in love. He grabs your waist to pull you closer and you whine into the kiss. Sweet. He’s never loved a sound more. His confession comes between kisses.
“y/n, i want you,” kiss. “and only you.” kiss.
you pull away and you’re breathing heavily, you look at ao’nung, pretty sure your eyes have hearts in them. “i-“ you don’t know what to say.
“I see you” you whisper, only meant for him to hear, with sincere eyes.
Ao’nung looks at you and his lips twitch into a small smile.
He goes into kiss you again and your hands find their way behind his neck, he pulls back and trails a few kisses from your jaw to your neck, you gasp softly when he finds your sensitive spot and sucks on it, sinking his teeth into your soft skin, you’re so sure this is gonna leave a bruise.
He kisses you again but this time openmouthed, his tongue swiping against your bottom lip to ask for permission, you open your mouth more to let him in. “i love you so much” he whimpers into your mouth and you realize you wanna get out of here. Your feel yourself getting embarrassed as you realize the 4 girls probably saw your full on makeout session.
“what’s wrong baby?”
“lets get out of here ao’nung” you plead, doe eyes looking up at your lover. God, you make him crazy.
He takes your hand and leads you to his marui pod, you guys pass the 4 girls on your way there and by the look they’re giving you, you know they saw it, maybe even enjoyed it a bit. (jk) The girl’s eyes travel down to your neck where your fresh hickey lies and they immediately turn their backs around, unable to watch your love bloom any longer.
You laugh loudly and that causes ao’nung to turn around, your hands still intertwined as you giggle, ao’nung gets the hint on what you’re laughing at and smirks as he watches you, amused.
“bit mean, don’t you think?” he mocks you and you slap his arm, he throws that arm over your shoulder as you guys walk , the sound of your laugh rings in ao’nungs ears and he swears he’ll never love someone like he loves you.

On the run…
just a disclaimer that this has been the longest since I’ve posted and this isn’t a for sure series! I’ve been super busy lately and I took a break because writing felt more like a need then something I wanted to do, i’m kinda back now and I hope you enjoy it 💕
Neteyam and I grew up together, we were very close. I grew to love him and I believe he felt that way too…until we were told that we would be promised to each other…Neteyam didn’t liked the fact that he felt tied down without having a choice. He was perfect at everything but being a good promised mate to Y/n.
Y/n however was very good. She comforted Neteyam when he was stressed about his father and she’d give him calming oils and treatment to relax him..
There were nights where Neteyam was absent, one night Y/n decided to hug Neteyam even with him pushing her off…
“I can smell her. Her scent. Irya.”
“You’re crazy.”
“Stop it! I caught you. And you’re not going to talk your way out of this. How many Neteyam? How many are there? How many have there been?”
“What does it matter? Hmm? We still are promised to each other and have no choice but to be mated. But irya is willing to take in that void until then. And maybe…maybe that’s better for everybody.”
Y/n scoffed at his attitude towards the situation…the man she loved, the boy she grew up with, had become so heartless to her.
“You know what, it’s better for you! You have a pretty good deal don’t you? You go out! You fool around! I sit here, I take care of your home and the clan. Well no more! That’s it.”
“Calm down!”
“No! I’m not going to do this anymore! Ok? I’m not going to sit here and take it and take it! Sorry! I love you, yes! But I am not dirt! I am promised to you! And you will not do this to me anymore-“
“Enough! I’ll stop! It’s fine. But you will not raise your voice at me. We will not do anything until we are to be mated.”
Y/n watched as Neteyam turned his back to go lay on the hammock with a blanket that Y/n made and cleaned just for him. If this was how things were going to be…it pained her completely but he came home didn’t he? He came home to her..?
She slept that night right beside him…cold and crying. He didn’t ever hold her while she slept..not like how they did when they were younger.
Truth was Neteyam didn’t sleep with Irya, no he could never. He just laid with her…he knew her scent was enough to break Y/n’s heart further…
~~
I stayed strong…I dealt with the pain and still claimed him proudly and openly…waiting on the day he called out my name.
I said I didn’t feel nothing but I lied, I almost cut a piece of myself for his love.
The passing Navi’s would smile at me and ask how Neteyam was…I would responded proudly.
“Ah yes Neteyam! He is doing well! Very good!”
Oh how I wished I didn’t get this treatment…I wish I could’ve been able to choose. In all honesty I would’ve still chosen Neteyam but it’d be on my terms..can’t say the same for him.
My days had an endless routine, I felt so trapped. I wanted Neteyam to stay even though he didn’t want me. Why can’t he wait till I fall out of love?
After everything going on…the war…the panic. It was decided that we’d have to give up our home and roles of the clan…everything. That meant every last tear, blood shed and sweat that Neteyam and I sacrificed to be the next leaders were wasted. Just because I was leaving didn’t mean I wasn’t no longer promised to Neteyam, he had all of me.
The move was so difficult and I didn’t know how else to comfort someone who didn’t want to be loved by me…but when he let me hold him, it gave me hope.
“We’ll be ok Ma’tyem”
The journey was long and tiring…it dragged and made our bodies sore…weak. Riding beside Neteyam made it worth it, all I could do was focus on him and how beautiful he truly was. Taking in his presence was my best bet at loving him from afar. Something about finding a new home and having a new adventure felt good despite leaving my entire life behind..
When we had arrived, nervousness ran through my veins…I allowed myself to be the last of the group to get off, watched how Neteyam protected his siblings and remained respectful just like his father.
I walked in cautiously repeating Neteyam’s same action and passing small smiles to those I had made eye contact with and then suddenly I made eye contact with someone who caught my attention …it was a boy who seemed about our age, instead of giving disgusted looks like he was before he froze. Soon enough the soften look in his eyes brought me into confusion, and I turned away. A warm unfamiliar arm wrapped around my waist, tuggin me forward and I couldn’t help but be more focused as to what was wrong.
Neteyam never held me, not anymore…not like when we were children. He pushed me to listen to the leader of the clan..that’s when I discovered the beautiful girl who Lo’ak shared a moment with was Tsireya and the boy I briefly noticed was Ao’nung..both children of the clans leaders. My ears went up and tail swayed at the new introduction, new people? New setting? Absolutely brought me bliss.
Unpacking was draining and having to now share a mauri with a full family was something I’d have to get used to, I didn’t mind though. I grew up with the Sully’s and remained very tight with all siblings…Neteyam included until our parents suggested we’d be mated. Of course I loved that idea…but Neteyam felt forced, it made him hate me.
It was another night of falling asleep beside Neteyam except this time he turned his body towards me and loosely had his arm around me. It was then that I realized I missed his touch so much and I’d settle with this even if it only meant he was doing it to prevent his family from questioning the separation.
I had butterflies take over me, placing my hand on top of his…only for him to pull his hand away and lay it on my hip, furthering any more affection..
Soon the sun rises and I woke up early to help prep meals for everyone with Neytiri, to her I was perfect. In my eyes I was far from it, not even able to satisfy her child.
I made my way sitting quietly next to Neteyam, my mind was still focused of last night’s interactions and our relationship…soon enough the loudness and spinning in my head only begged me to just take a moment for myself, I paused my eating and excused myself…but walking away I can hear my childhood best friends speak.
“What’s wrong with her?..she’s been quiet.”
“She’s always quiet Lo’ak-“
Kiri was one of the only people who noticed the great shift in Y/n. They grew up together, Y/n was open to Kiri about her crush on Neteyam and she never told any one although she enjoyed the idea of them together, it made her so happy when they were promised…but now after a couple of months with them together, Kiri could see something was weighing Y/n down.
“Not always! She only starts to get quiet when Neteyam’s around! You make her nervous bro! Y/n’s been in love with you since we were kids and now you guys are going to be all lovey, dovey once your Mated!!!”
Neteyam couldn’t even reply, it wasn’t that he didn’t love you…or maybe he didn’t? He himself, couldn’t understand his feelings towards you. Neteyam just wanted time to choose his mate and who he loved.
He was truly living his fathers dream, sacrificing his life to repay and honor his parents sacrifice. Would he had chosen Y/n, his once childhood crush as his mate? Would he have done it if he wasn’t forced? He didn’t know.
Y/n took in Lo’ak’s word..she did only get quiet around Neteyam, she knew how quickly and easily it was to annoy him.
*flashback*
It was the beginning of their relationship and he couldn’t be anymore closed off with her. All Y/n wanted to do was love him and be a perfect mate to him. So when he walked through the door…that’s exactly what she did.
“Neteyam, I’ve made you dinner! Your favorite!”
“Not hungry.”
His response was short but however, what made the two perfect was that no matter how calm and collected she was…she remain optimistic.
“Ok! That’s fine! I’ll prep it for you in the morning, when you’re ready to go back to training-“
“Y/n! How many times do I have to say it? I’m not hungry! I do not want your food! Just be quiet!…voice is annoying…relationship is business only..”
Y/n perfectly heard his last muttered words and it brought her to tears as she wrapped his food up, she had stayed up late waiting to eat with him once he arrived home…but now he laid in bed. Y/n blew the candles providing light and closed the tent enough just for a little moonlight to shed as she provided him a calm setting to fall asleep in while she struggle to eat in the dark.
Neteyam could see though, he saw her tears roll down her face and her hand quiver as her eyebrows furrowed and head shake as if telling her that it’ll all be ok. It took everything in him to not apologize for being so cold, but he couldn’t..not now when he was so frustrated.
*
Y/n lost her optimistic side…instead of being calm, she slowly was just pulling herself into a fiery state. After so much coldness could you blame her? She didn’t have any time for playing around or a moment for herself..but now with this new home, she did.
There it was Y/n sat outside taking in the sunrise and fresh breeze, she was just starting to relax when Kiri interrupted
“So…I’ve been meaning to ask but nothing feels like the right time but…are you ok? Like I mean really ok? I can feel your energy Y/n.”
It took Y/n by surprise and it only took Kiri to see her face for her to know whatever she was going to say next was a lie. That’s exactly how it all played out, Y/n had her mouth slightly open in shock and then she smiled, not a true one thought just a small one with closed lips.
“Of course Kiri!…it’s just the move.”
Silence stood between them, Kiri could see the little white lies Y/n told herself and it hurt her. Y/n was never one to be standoffish or guarded.
“Right..well soon enough we’ll start training to get used to this environment-“
“Hello! We’re here to start training”
Both girls looked at Tsireya in surprise and soon settled into a smile, excited to finally have a taste of something new. Y/n stood proud and tall before tsireya, she admired it truly. To tsireya if she would’ve stayed at the forest she would’ve been a perfect leader for the people…what could’ve been.
“I’ll go ahead and get the others! Excuse me.”
Ao’nung watched from a far…Y/n was captivating to him. Her voice and the way she walked presented herself with confidence.
His smile stayed until he saw her stand beside Neteyam, they walked together as one but in silence.
They all trailed after each other one by one. Ao’nung tried to slow down so that his speed would align with Y/n’s but it just didn’t happen.
Tsireya decided to start by swimming first and excitement erupted amongst Kiri and Y/n as they grabbed each others hands swimming down around the corals of the reef.
Ao’nung pushed the rest of the group forward and he allowed his sister to take over as he glanced over to Y/n doing flips around the ocean and viewing the fishes in amazement. Y/n put herself in tune with the ocean..if she was going to live here she had to act as one of the people.
Neteyam couldn’t help but notice Y/n staggering behind the group and he rolled his eyes at her childish behavior… when he went up to the surface with everyone else gasping for air, he looked back beneath the water..he saw Ao’nung swim over to Y/n, watch them exchange smiles while swimming up beside each other.
“You’re pretty good for a beginner! I can show you how to-“
“Y/n!-“
neteyam was going to interrupt but he was quickly interrupted by his own little sister, gasping onto Y/n’s arms and his arms.
Y/n quickly passed a smile at Ao’nung as she now turned her attention to Tuk cradling her while Neteyam fixed Y/n’s hair from getting caught onto Tuk.
The sudden touch caught Y/n by surprise, she was quick to turn her head in confusion until Tysireya’s voice brought them back to focus
“It’s fine if your not the best right now…we should try getting you guys on ilu’s! I’m sure you’ll love it!”
Another tug to another direction, telling Y/n to swim with him. There was not a chance Neteyam was going to leave Y/n with Ao’nung when it was clear to him, he was trying to get close to her.
this interaction between the two didn’t fly past Y/n she didn’t understand what Neteyam was trying to do. Once practice ended she allowed the group to go past and speak amongst each other while she began tugging back at Neteyam’s arm to walk with her. They said their goodbyes respectfully and Y/n held onto Neteyam the entire time.
“What are you doing? You have a role to withhold still Neteyam. Be respectful. You must remember that this isn’t our home.”
“Me? What am I doing wrong? You must’ve forgot that you have to withhold your role with me. You are my future mate do not forget.”
“I haven’t done anything that can make you imply that I have, are you kidding?”
“So why are you getting friendly with-“
“This is not our land. Our relationship has been in shambles because of you-“
“How dare you blame me? What? Because i went out to get my needs done so I can keep pushing to Be with you. I did it for us.
Tears welled up in Y/n’s eyes as she realized he was now the one blaming her for their relationship.
“I’d rather go blind then to see you walk away from me, with another women. I never asked you to do that.”
“But it needed to be done Y/n, you can’t maintain me.”
“This isn’t my fault Neteyam please stop. I’m not doing anything wrong. I haven’t gotten overly friendly with anyone. Just stop.”
“Don’t talk to Ao’nung Y/n, I’m not asking you.”
“I don’t need you telling me it either. I have to remain mutual and respectful to everyone, even if it means speaking to them.”
“You will be disrespecting me-“
“Please, this is barley scratching the surface of what you’ve done to me. This relationship is business only. Isn’t that what you said? So then stick to your words. It stopped meaning anything to me the moment you started acting this way.”
She was lying, but she wanted to shoot a bullet at him just like he did to her. When she looked back at Neteyam she didn’t notice the pain flushing his eyes or that fact that his heart was beating rapidly, he truly hurt hearing her stand up to him. It hurt him to see that he can’t seem to keep her close and let her go. He knew though, he still had her…even if it meant she was speaking back.
Later on in the night when it was time to eat, Y/n made sure to start a conversation with Tuk to make sure she was settling in well. Tuk pulled her arm to sit with her and Y/n did. Kiri quickly sat next to Y/n sensing something was wrong with her. This left Neteyam to sit in front of her, though Y/n didn’t even bat an eye at him.
“Did you see all the fishes down there Y/n?!”
“Oh I did Tuk! They were beautiful!!”
Jake had interrupted their conversation discussing the clan and asking how the children were treating them.
“Ao’nung sucks and Tsireya is really nice.”
Lo’ak was clearly biased to Tsireya based on the way he was smiling so his opinion flew out the window in Jake’s eyes.
Everyone began speaking quickly and clashed their words together as Y/n watched trying to follow everyone’s words.
“Mmh I barley heard a thing anyone said…what about you Y/n how were they?”
Jake knew Y/n had a thing with words, she was descriptive and knew how to speak properly. She observed everything there was to a person.
“Tsireya was sweet, attentive while teaching and patient. Ao’nung was witty, quick to say something and less patient. Overall they are good people-“
“Please Y/n Ao’nung was the worst, maybe not to you!”
Lo’ak had spoken in a teasing voice, implying something he shouldn’t. Jake had shut down his youngest teasing seeing it as a learning lesson
“It’s about being respectful. The face that you had while learning their ways probably didn’t help Ao’nungs remarks. Your face tells everything, Y/n knew how to behave.”
Neteyam grew silent only looking at Y/n and his food, quietly pushing for her to say more.
“Yes correct, this isn’t our home yet..but we must learn their ways with a positive attitude.”
The tension felt visible to the couple sitting across from each other and it continued when Y/n looked up at Neteyam after saying the statement.
She got up attempting to remain calm, picking up her meal and placing it to the side. After cleaning up and paying her respects she resided off to the side not facing Neteyam if he were to sleep on her hammock…
There it is that dip of him crawling back to my bed, enraging me over and over again without a care in the world that he hurt me.
*💕*
remember that this isn’t a for sure series, it’s definitely not perfect either I’m just trying to get into the groove of things again :))

A/N - Hellooo so uh So'lek right? Anyway I thought about doing some writing for him cause he doesn't have much story's yes that i can find 😞
•▪︎•▪︎▪︎○▪︎°▪︎•°▪︎▪︎•▪︎▪︎°•▪︎°▪︎○▪︎▪︎•▪︎•
Digging through a box in a rundown RDA base you pick stuff up take a look at it and throw it onto to ground not finding anything useful as you continue, coming across amno but nothing interesting, you suddenly stop what you doing as you pin your ears up hearing footsteps going towards you, twitching your ears a little as you listen carefully, they are soft like Na'vi but they carry metal as it clangs together.
Scanning around the room you are in you spot a vent being as quiet as you can you go under it and jump up getting into the vent with a little struggle but you manage it, moving forward into the vent as you look down through some bars into the room you where just in, as you see a na"vi walk in watching as he walks across the room as he digs through draws.
Hearing more footsteps this time but more heavy than the last as another Na'vi walks into the room. Your eyes look at her like a sky demon, keeping your hand close to your dagger.
“Are you sure this is the right place Alma?” you hear the na'vi man say only catching a few of the words of the sky poeple tongue.
“So'lek, I am sure Don't worry we won't be here long, I only have to grab some stuff and then we can go” she says as she walks through a door. Still not understanding what's being said exactly.
Your eyes follow her until she leaves the room, looking back towards the male Na'vi as you scan him wearing stuff like the sky people do, your tail moving to the side hitting the metal in the vent and causing a sound.
Grabbing your dagger in your hand you see him look up to where you are as you both lock eye contact, watching him closely as he's about to move, Turing around in the vent as you move down it quickly hearing the thugs of your foot spots echoing, coming to a stop as you see an exit outside closed of moving towards it as you force it open.
Leaping the building, lading okay and running into the forest hearing the na'vi leave the building as he runs after you. Hearing him speak the words you don't understand, jumping over a log and through a small river, moving down a small hill slowly with careful steps, stopping as you feel eyes on you looking around and seeing nothing as you carry on.
Out of nowhere, you feel a force hit your side as the na'ni man tackles you to the ground you both roll down to the bottom, as he's onto you, you hiss at him pinning your ears back and shouting at him, and he pins his ears back as you continue shouting his poor ears off.
“let go of me! Right now!!” you say as he lets you go
“A Sarentu?“ You hear him say, stunned as he says that him walking closer towards you as he looks at the mark on your face.
“I had thought that you all disappeared?“ He says to you as you make eye contact.
“I do not know where my clan went, I don't remember,” you say as you step away from him as he gets too close to you, ears twitching as you ear footsteps rush towards you as you see the woman avatar Alma you think her name was as she reaches yous as she looks at you.
“The RDA are here So'lek” she says out of breath to So'lek, as she looks back at you with curiosity. Your ears go up as they twitch picking on the sky people metal machines moving around, Deciding to help them.
“Come, come, hurry” you say as you also move your hand in that motion, moving off ahead of them, as they both you at each other and not their head as they follow after you.
“Hurry up” you say stopping to let them catch up as you, yoye then start moving again just a little slower this time, coming up towards a huge tree.
“We go up, now,” You say as you start climbing up the tree getting into an opening as you climb into it, and look out of it to see the other two coming up the tree. The male climbs into the tree first he then helps the female into the tree as she lands on the ground out of breath. Watch as the male turns around to look at you as he starts to talk to you.
“Hello, my name's So'lek this here is Alma and you are?“ He says to you as he introduces himself as well as the others. Still a little on edge as you decided to introduce yourself to them as they did for you.
“I am Y/n, it's nice you meet you both,“ you say to them staying in the spot you standing where you are.
“It's nice to meet you Y/n” you hear Alma say surprised that she could speak the native tongue, as she steps towards you and moves her arm towards you, taking a step back watching as So'lek grabs her hand gently and shakes his head at her.
“You both must be hungry?“ you say to them gesturing towards the floor as they look around the very small home, plants and herbs handing from the top of the room baskets filled up this fruits and materials, a short table in the middle perfect for sitting down on the ground for. Looking up they see a hammock, some weapons scattered across the room.
“Sit, sit,” you say to them, they both stop looking around, and both of them take a seat on the floor next to the table. Opening up a basket at you grab enough for three of you, move back towards them and take a seat on the floor with them, Handing them both a fruit.
“you may stay one night, and then leave, it is not safe at night,” you say to both of them after you had looked outside seeing it was getting darker.
“We thank you for your generously, ” So'lek says to you as he turns his head to look at you. Alma nods her head in agreement as you nod your head.
“I will be going to sleep now, you both should do the same” After a while, you say to them as you climb up towards your hammock, letting them decide how they are going to sleep
The Next Day
Opening your eyes as you peck over the side of your hammock seeing that Alma is still sleeping where So'lek is already up and about, moving out of your hammock as you climb down seeing So'lek stop what his doing as he sees you.
“You've done quite well by yourself, must feel lonely to have no one around” he says to you as you turn your head to the side.
“It does but I've managed to do it over the years” you say to him.
“How about you come with us? You wouldn't be by yourself then” he offers to you as you think over his words, looking over at Alma you do not like the sky people very much, but if a Na'vi is with them maybe you can trust them.

Just small thoughts of Yandere Neytiri and Jake who stumbled upon you on one of their date nights.
Tumblr media
You are just a simple scientist, Awed by the beauty of Pandora and its creatures. So stuck in awe you couldn't see you were getting farther and farther from the Haven you called home. The floral began to shine, purple, green, blue glow of light as the sun disappeared.
Flowing alien seeds surrounded you and seemingly brightened at your laugh. all the while you were unaware of the two pairs of yellow eyes, hooked on your figure as you spin around before falling to the ground with a smile.
Oh child. May Eywa be with you.

Roommate- human!jake sully x reader NSFW
Tumblr media
THIS IS MY LONGEST FIC YET BTW! (If you see typos pls let me know)
You hated being a human on Pandora. You showed up in January 2154, young and alone. The head of security, Miles Quaritch, constantly demonized the natural life of Pandora. He claimed the indigenous were “savages” and that everything that lives in the forest wanted to kill us. Most of the time, you were confined to the boring human base, nestled next to a forest.
About a week after arriving, you befriended Grace Augustine and began to help her out with her lab work. She was almost like a mother to you. Norm was pretty much your brother, Trudy being a sister. It was your lab friends that made life worth living. The first time you ever left the base was with all three of them, to go collect samples with Grace. And you swore Pandora was the most beautiful place in the universe. The floating mountains, waterfalls, forest life, bioluminescence- your eyes were glued out the door, and you'd take polaroids until your camera ran out of film. Since then, you were thoroughly invested in the avatar program, and dedicated your time to perfecting it. Though you never got an avatar yourself, you were fine with that.
Around 6 months after you showed up, a new member of the avatar program showed up. His name was Jake Sully, and he wasn't supposed to be there. His twin brother Tom had died before you even came to Pandora, and Tom was who Grace actually needed for her project. Jake was, unfortunately, the only person who could take Tom's place. When Jake arrived, it was Lyle Wainfleet who informed you of what he looked like before you met him. For some reason, Lyle thought it was funny. He had stormed into the cafeteria, sitting down next to you while you ate a small cup of macaroni and cheese.
"Wainfleet, what? It's my dinner break right now, a bitch needs to eat!" you snap, turning away as he settles down at your table.
"Y/N, Pandora's got her first meal on wheels," he cackles, whispering to you.
"The fuck are you talking about?" you squint, crossing your legs in annoyance.
"Tommy Sully's dead, they've got his brother here-" he continues.
"What.." your expression softens, a scared look plastering across your face. You never knew Tom, but how are you going to break this news to Grace?
"Tom Sully's brother is a crippl-" he raises his eyebrows, trying to speak more clearly for you.
"I don't care about his brother! How are we gonna tell Grace?" you set your fork down into your bowl of food, your appetite already having disappeared.
"Bout Tom?" he grumbles. You nod. "Don't matter, they got the same genome, anyhow. The experiment oughta work either way."
"You don't get it, whatever. Tell me about this new guy," you sigh, checking the time on your wrist.
"His name is Jake Sully, he's a cripple. His legs don't work anymore, some spinal incident or sumth'n. Gets around in a wheelchair now. Good looking guy, Grace is gonna hate him though," he smiles at the last sentence.
"Not funny," you shake your head. "Y'know where he's staying?"
"Yea, residential building 3, unit 01." he looks down at the table.
"Stop playing with me!" your eyes grow wide and you punch Lyle's shoulder, making him laugh again.
"I'm not, that's where he's livin'! What's your problem?" he pushes your hand off, brows furrowing in confusion.
"Oh god," you grumble, burying your face in your hands. His face lights up in realization.
"Looks like someone's got a new roommate!" he teases, getting up from the table and hurrying out of the cafeteria before you can scold him. You accept your reality and get up to throw away your trash, knowing you have to head back to work. How the fuck did you end up with Sully? You knew at some point, all the unimportant people have to room with some other nobody. It's a rule- human camp shouldn't take up too much space. But you were enjoying your time alone. Your apartment was decorated all girly, and you knew it might change now. You just hoped to god that Jake wasn't as bad as he sounded.
When you entered the lab again, Grace was already pissed.
"Who’s got my goddamn cigarette?!” she growls as she sits up, returning from her avatar form. You anxiously watch as an assistant scurries to a nearby drawer, grabbing a box of Newports. “Guys, what’s wrong with this picture?” she waves a hand at the assistant, “Thank you,” and relaxes when she finally gets a lit cigarette in her mouth.
“Grace Augustine is a legend-“ Norm explains from behind you. You spin around, thinking he was just joking with a friend. A gasp leaves your mouth when you see it- Norm walking, guiding a young man in a wheelchair through the lab. That’s Jake, it must be Jake. You sigh and your eyelids flutter as you watch them head towards Grace, knowing that she’s not going to tolerate this switch-aroo. But you cant help but notice the new guy, weirdly handsome. His eyes are striking, intense in a way.
“Norm, hi!” you smile, walking up to him. It’s almost like a desperate attempt to stall Jake from meeting Grace. It’s stupid, you know at some point they’ll have to collide.
“Hey, Y/N! We’ve got Tom’s brother here! Doesn’t he look just like him?” Norm gestures to Jake, stopping in his tracks. You take a look at him- the first good look you’ve had so far, and he is hot. His face is built so well, and you can see his strong shoulders through his tight shirt. But, his gaze is what really makes you melt, the look on his face…
“Hi! I’m Y/N! How are you? Nice to meet you!” you extend a hand out, bending your knees a little bit to get on his level. Your intent was to shake his hand, which works well. He holds out a large, warm hand and gives a firm handshake. You smile and exhale, but it appears Jake isn’t trying to hide that his eyes are traveling back and forth from your cleavage to your face.
“I’m doing good,” his voice is deep and intense and it makes your heart flutter. “See ya at lights out,” he winks at you and you let go of his hand and back up a little. Norm’s brows furrow at this comment, and his nostrils flare a little.
“Oh, uhm, okay!” you awkwardly smile and back away further, getting closer to Norm.
“Who the fuck?” Grace’s voice booms from behind you, and you jump a little. You slowly inch away, leaving the situation. Norm follows. When the two of you are already on the other side of the room, the tense dialogue between Augustine and Sully fades.
“Y/N, you alright? Is that guy hitting on you?” Norm grabs your arm gently, with a concerned voice. “That comment, about lights out, what did he mean?” he questions.
“My god, didn’t tell you yet. We’re fucking roommates,” you whisper yell. “He just moved in today, building 3 unit 01,”
“If you don’t feel safe at any time, tell me, okay? What type of guy is he?” Norm’s hand leaves your arm, and he leans back onto a table.
“I don’t know! This is the first time I’m meeting him!” you facepalm. “So, if you’re wondering… I don’t know anything about him yet,”
“Okay, just- tell me if he bothers you,” Norm says.
“Of course,” you promise, smiling. He creeps away to do lab work, and in the meantime, you walk over to Jake to strike up a conversation.
"Hey," he says, turning himself towards you.
"Hi, what's up?" you sit down across from him, and he comes closer, tilting his head.
"I saw all those polaroids you've got hung up in your bedroom, you look cute in 'em," he leans back in his wheelchair, pretty much ignoring your question.
"In my bedroom?" you question, almost feeling like your privacy has been invaded.
"What, I'm not allowed to check out my new place?" he jokes.
"God, I'm sorry," you laugh and look down at the floor, listening to the noises of everyone pack up for the night. Once you're reminded that you have to live with this guy, you wish time moved slower. "Oh, how was Grace? How did that conversation go?" you change the subject.
"Why don't I tell you about it at home?" he suggests, making a dreadful feeling develop in your stomach. It's something about the thought of sleeping in the same space as this guy, who you now have a crush on, that makes you nervous. What if he walks in on you in the shower? What if you walk in on him? The thought of him calling your place "home" already was enough to make your heart speed up. You know it's stupid, that you're unnecessarily anxious.
"Sure, I'll walk you back, just hold on a second. I've gotta say bye to everyone," you get up from your chair, pretending to not notice Jake looking at your ass. You circled the lab, helping everyone clean up and hugging your friends. Norm and Trudy gossip in the corner, concerned for your safety. You assure them over and over that everything is fine, even though you can feel Jake undressing you with his eyes from across the room. You ignore all their speculations, walking away with your new roommate following.
"They hate me, don't they?" Jake shakes his head as you enter the hallway with him.
"Don't stress about it, they hate everyone. It doesn't help that you're an ex-marine. The marines here are ignorant to what the scientists think," you raise your eyebrows, digging in your pocket for your key.
"I'm not ignorant, I can promise you that," he nods, a smile growing onto his face. You take your key out of your pocket, continuing your walk home. "Not a long commute, huh?" he says.
"Yeah, everyone gets their home depending on where they work. You and me got real lucky: the first unit in the building," you happily approach the door, putting in the key and twisting it. It gets more and more noticeable- the way Jake stares you down. You try to ignore it, kicking off your shoes. "I think I'm just gonna go take a shower," you tell him. He nods, relaxing as you walk off into the bathroom.
You slip off your clothes, reaching for the shower handle and twisting it. As you look in the mirror, waiting for the water to warm up, you can't stop thinking about Jake. It drives you nuts. How can you live with him when his face makes you so horny? Of course, the quickest solution comes to mind. When you step into the shower, your hand immediately slithers down to your clit, where you rub in circles over and over again, warm water coating your body. Soft little noises leave you, you hum in satisfaction at the thought of getting on your knees for him.
After you finally finish, a feeling of shame washes over you. This isn't right, this is weird. It's weird to touch yourself at the thought of your roommate. You decide you need to get rid of this crush; to find an outlet or something. You can't keep yourself like this. Your brain rushes with thoughts as you wash your hair and body. "I'm gonna get over him, I'm gonna get over him, I'm gonna get over him," you whisper to yourself, the sound of the water making you almost silent. "I can't get wound up like this, not for him. None of my friends like him.." you tell yourself. They're all silly, desperate ideas to make you feel calmer.
Stepping out of the shower, your mind is in a tranquil state. You do your skincare, comb your hair, dry your body, put lotion on, etc. You're clean- clean and fresh. Now, you can go to bed. You can just go right to your room, put pajamas on, and sleep. You wrap your naked body in a flimsy towel, wet hair hanging down past your shoulders as you walk out the bathroom door.
"Fuck," a voice from behind you startles you, and the towel almost drops. You clutch it turn around quickly, fear filling your heart. Your cheeks flush red when you see Jake, watching your body attentively.
"Oh, hi- I was just- going to bed..." you awkwardly shy away, feeling bare. You're in nothing but a small, wet towel.
"No you're not, come here," he pats his thigh.
"Jake, what?" you nervously chuckle.
"Sit, here in my lap," he orders again, patting himself harder this time.
"I- don't have anything on," your voice grows soft.
"I know,"
"Not even underwear,"
"I know, why do you think I'm asking? Come here, sit." he growls. At this moment, it's like you've lost all your self respect. You feel like his little slut. You slowly walk towards him, before straddling him on his wheelchair. You clutch your towel tight when you sit, trying not to show yourself. Your breath hitches when your wet cunt presses up on his sweatpants, and he looks you dead in the eye. "What were you doing in the shower, hmm?" he interrogates, intimately moving a wet strand of hair out of your face.
"We've only just met," you push his hand away, shaking your head. "This is too much," you tell him.
"Then why are you still sitting here, pussy pressed up on my leg?" he grabs your hips, holding them tightly. Your eyes widen and you look down in shame, but you don't move. "Yeah, I know how you feel about me. Go on, please yourself." he starts to move your hips ever so slightly, the friction teasing your clit. Your eyes flutter shut as Jake rocks you back and forth with his strong arms.
"Can I tell you something?" you ask through breathy moans.
"In a second, after you cum, okay?" he replies.
"Mhmhmm," you whine, trying to signal a yes. Suddenly, you feel like that scary distance between you and Jake has been filled. Filled with the sound of you whimpering and getting rubbed on his leg, filled with the horny gazes that he gives you and the quick shower masturbation that you sneak. Jake's hands hold you tightly, fingers digging into your plush hips.
"Ditch the towel already, will ya?" he grunts, his hands traveling up to your chest and pulling your towel off of you. You gasp at the cold air that rushes in against your bare body, and your nipples stand upright. Jake throws your towel onto the floor, hands kneading at your breasts now. “Little slut, just met me and you’re already soaking my pants,” he leans back in his chair, reaching for the band of his sweatpants while you desperately pleasure yourself.
“I really wanna tell you something, oh god, I really wanna tell you something,” you mewl, throwing your head back.
“What?” he whispers, pulling his now erect cock out of his pants. You don’t notice, you’re just overwhelmed with pleasure.
“I wanna, wanna get on my knees for you..” you mutter, eyes still clenched shut.
“Hmm?” he slowly strokes himself, watching your body.
“I touched myself,” you lean into Jake, trying to make your words clearer. “Touched myself, at the thought of it,” you finally open your eyes again, only to be met with the sight of his cock. You gasp, the vision being enough to tip you over the edge. You melt into his arms, his dick grazing your lower belly as you slouch into him. He takes you in, holding you sweetly as you finish all over his leg. Your nails dig into his clothed shoulder, and the pinching sensation makes him growl.
“Fuck,” he remarks, gently moving you out of the way to see the arousal stains you’ve left on his pants. With your arms still wrapped around him, you look down, growing shy when you realize how wet you are. “On your knees, now. Show me what you touched yourself to,” he pushes you off of him and you practically crumble onto the floor, legs unstable from the orgasm you had.
“Ah,” you sigh, taking his cock into your hand shyly.
“What did you picture when you were pleasuring yourself, hmm?” he teases. You slowly bring your head to his tip, giving it small licks and kisses. He’s circumcised, groomed well, but not completely hairless. You don’t mind. You keep licking his tip, before expanding to the shaft, salivating down it. His cock throbs, the blood flow making it hot.
“Mm, tastes so good,” you smirk before opening your mouth and engulfing him fully in your mouth, the tip tickling the back of your throat. His base presses up on your nose and he whimpers. For the first time ever, you’ve heard him whimper. You pull away, a string of saliva connected to your lips, and take a deep breath.
“Fuck,” he strokes your head, pulling and holding your hair into a ponytail which he kept a grasp on, keeping your hair out of your face. You go back in, mercilessly sucking him off. The room fills with slurping and choking noises, along with crude moans and breathing. His cock throbs and twitches in your mouth, occasionally squirting out little bursts of pre cum. You grip onto his legs to hold your body steady, even though your knees were beginning to hurt from pressing into the floor. Your head rhythmically bobs up and down.
“Close?” you ask with an aching jaw.
“Mm, yeah,” he sharply exhales, his grip on your hair growing tighter. You keep up the pace, not going any faster or slower. “My god, you’re fucking good at this. Who taught you how to give a blowjob?” he grunts, making eye contact with you. You take his cock deep in your mouth, your lips and tongue pressing tightly against his girth. It hurts so good. The way he pulls your hair, the sting being so pleasurable. The way your jaw hurts from stretching your mouth open wide. The way your knees hurt from sitting on the floor: it’s all the most perfect pain.
“Mmm,” you hum against his tip, making him spill over the edge.
“Shit!” he grunts, spilling a fat load into your mouth. You close your eyes as it squirts out, coating your tongue and the insides of your cheeks. Little droplets of the warm, salty liquid spill out onto your lips, where you lick them up enthusiastically. You met Jake Sully a couple hours ago, and now you’re tasting his semen.
“When was the last time you came like that?” you wipe your mouth, getting up off the floor on wobbly legs.
“C’mere, you can hardly walk,” he says, reaching out and pulling you into his embrace, where you relax, sitting on top of him. You rest your head on his shoulder and curl up into a ball in his lap, he holds you sweetly and strokes your hair. “Where’d you learn to suck dick?” he asks.
“Um, I mean- I was never taught,” you close your eyes.
“Beginner’s luck, huh?” he chuckles.
“I guess,” your voice is raspy, probably because you just had a dick down your throat.
“C’mon, where do you wanna sleep?” he begins to move his wheelchair.
“Next to you,” you say, picking your head and and looking at him. You notice his features up close and trace little shapes on his cheek. “So pretty, Jake. You’re so pretty.” you remark.
“So, my room?” he ignores your touches.
“Anywhere you want,” you lean in, kissing him on the mouth. He takes his hand off of the wheel, holding your face as he kisses back. It’s a sweet kiss. Jake closes his eyes, stops in his tracks, and holds you.
“Your room, then,” he pulls away, smiling at you. It’s the first real smile you’ve got from him. You melt like putty into him while he heads towards your bed. The comforter is white, the sheets are pink, the room smells like you. Smells like home.
He sets you down gently onto the bed, and you crawl in, immediately relaxing in the warm blanket. He gets in after you, taking his shirt off before he tucks himself in.
“Love you, Jake.” you whisper, turning over in bed and cupping his cheek. He turns to look at you, but doesn’t meet your eyes.
“Babe, you’re gonna have to put some clothes on, or else I’ll be hard all night,” he jokes. You ignore that remark, and stare at his abs instead. But your eyes travel down, and something pokes through the blanket under his torso.
“No way,” you shake your head. “You’re an animal!”
“Yeah, I’m also hard. Come here, ride me.” he pats his torso, leaning back completely.
“I don’t wanna be limping tomorrow at work,” you complain.
“Fuck work, come here, ride me.” he orders. Annoyed (but also insanely horny), you hop onto him, straddling him yet again. A euphoric smile crosses his face as you line his wet cock up with your dripping entrance. “Push down now,” he holds your hips tightly, slowly shoving them down. But you resist, confusing him.
“I’m nervous,” you whine.
“Why? What’s wrong?” he kneads the flesh on your ass.
“Don’t know, it’s just-,” you stutter.
“You just rode my thigh and then sucked my dick, there’s nothing to be nervous about.” he teases. You sigh in response. He’s right. “Go on now, I’ll help ya,” he holds you tight as you lower yourself on his cock.
“Mmph!” you grunt, arching your back as the tip stretches you out. Jake gasps, pushing you down further until your clit touches his base. His dick stretches you out far, your walls clench around him tightly. “Oh, oh god,” you pant, toes curling with pleasure. His tip brushes up against your cervix and you cry out.
“Fuck, you’re tight. Relax for me, okay? Take a deep breath,” he pats you lovingly. Your brows furrow as you watch his cock go in and out slowly, and little squeaks come out with every shallow breath you take. “Deep breaths, want me to do ‘em with you?” he offers.
“Y-yeah,” you whimper. His hand traces along your belly and he breathes in slowly through his mouth, making it especially loud for you to follow along. You follow along with him, his cock still balls deep inside of you. Your muscles relax, allowing you to take him with less pain.
“Hurting?” he asks, his grip on you loosening.
“A little, in a good way,” you moan, slowly speeding up. You can feel little vein and twitch, and the slight curve that he has in his dick. Your warm, wet pussy squeezes him tight. It clamps on him harder with every little movement you make. “My god!” you yelp, the stimulation starting to become too much for you.
“I know, I know, just come for me, okay?” he bounces under you as you ride him. “Come all over my cock, real quick, okay?” he grunts.
“Yes, yes!” you throw your head back, stomach coiling as your orgasm nears. Your legs shake more, and Jake grabs your hips again to keep bouncing you. Your hands hold into his pecs for balance, your eyes clench shut. All the deep breathing flies out the window, and you’re back to desperate panting.
“Goddamn, gah-,” he whimpers. Your hands squeeze his chest tightly and your cunt squeezes his dick when you come. You fall forward into him embrace, legs shaking. Your heat contracts around him. You pull your hips away, his wet cock coming out. A squelching noise becomes audible when it leaves you, his cum dripping out of your hole after it. The substance was more watery, after you’d already milked him a few minutes earlier.
“Oh my god,” you hug him, tucking your head into the crook of his neck and desperately trying to catch your breath.
“Shh, shh, it’s okay.” he coos.
“I think being your roommate will work out just fine,” you kiss his neck.

When you had always been young there was always the dream and hopes, to have a mate and family of your own. That did some true for you finding a mate that had fallen in love with, and couldn't wait to spend the rest of your life with him. Soon starting a family as well and that when you had thought you had a perfect life. A life that you hope will stay perfect forever and that nothing will come to ruin it.
y/n " ........" you are by the tide pools collect some clams and herbs when you had seen a herb of ikran coming, towards the village everyone had looked up seeing the ikran from the forest.
y/n " well it looks like today is going to get more interesting then I had thought" a group had started rushing back to the village to see what the matter, you had gather up all your stuff and soon raced home to see what was happening.

tonowari " my people we will allow the sully family and their group stay with us and learn the ways of the water"
tonowari " we are to treat them as our brothers and sisters while they are here as they are babies, taking their first breathe" it was done the newcomers are staying and were going to be taught the ways of the clan.
rotxo " mom can I go help the sully family and their group, carry their stuff to their home"
y/n " yes you can be home for dinner"
rotox " yes mom" rotxo had ran off and went to go speak with the sully kids and another boy, he was there with tsireya as they talked and soon helped them move their stuff.

rotxo " ......"
lo'ak " well we saw your mom when we came here as she was standing by her and you and pointed her out, but we haven't seen you dad yet"
rotxo " we should get on with the lessons right reya"
tsireya " yes we can ask questions another time"
lo'ak " so you dad is warrior or hunter that will explain why he not here that much or he is ... with the great mother" the group had gotten quite as rotxo had gotten up and looked away.
aonung " drop it lo'ak that none of your business"
lo'ak " I was just asking a questions that all we have told you about our lives, and we have heard about aonung and tisreya but none about him"
rotxo " I don't wish to speak about that man so leave it alone, I think it will be best if I take myself out of these lessons today it has become to hard to be here right now" rotxo soon walked off while everyone was looking at lo'ak.
spider " nice move there I'm going to see if he okay"
kiri " I will come as well"
neteyam " I will go as well and say sorry for lo'ak mistake"
lo'ak " I can go"
aonung " I don't think he will want to see you right now or ever"
kiri " no spider and I will as we know how it feels to be him" spider and kiri had left to find rotxo, and it didn't take them that long to find him. The tiro had sone some lessons together at day after talking for a while.
Later on that night
rotox " hey mom I brought some friends over for dinner if that fine"
y/n " that okay my son who did your bring"
rotxo " kiri and spider I was with them today and brought them over for dinner"
y/n " hello you two and welcome to our home again what happened to the others"
rotxo " a situation during our lesson"
kiri " my brother has asked a question about someone in your family, that lead to the break up of our group"
y/n " I understand well dinner is ready why don't you all come to join us"
spider " thank you" the teens had soon joined you for dinner it was a wonderful dinner and good conversation as well. The two teens had stayed a bit longer to have a conversation with rotxo once, dinner was over and cleaned up.
???? " excuse me"
y/n " hello how may I help you" you had soon looked up and saw Jake standing there with Tsu'tey.
tsutey " we have been told our kids are here I'm looking for my son spider"
Jake " I'm looking for my daughter kiri they came here with rotxo"
y/n " yes my son they are here"
kiri " dad"
Jake " hello I came to walk you home and Tsu'tey came here to bring spider home"
spider " we are coming we will see you tomorrow rotxo"
rotox " sure"
Jake " thank you for allowing them to stay and have dinner"
y/n " it was wonderful to have them over and I hope to have them over again" the two teens had smile about being invited over again for another dinner, they all soon left the home. You soon looked at your son and pulled him into a hug.
y/n " you have done well my son and you will always make our family proud"
rotxo " thank you mama" you soon kissed rotxo forehead before she had head off to bed that night, as you stoof awake a bit more thing about how much you and rotxo had changed since that sorrow day that changed the both of your forever.

You clutched your chest, attempting to calm your now erratic breathing. She knew. Neytiri knew.
Jake has been messing around with you for months now, and even after you found out he was married, the two of you didn’t leave each other alone. Jake was well respected as Toruk Makto, which is why you kept your head down as his mistress. No one, other than his friends from other clans, knew about the two of you, since you often went on escapades with the Olo’eyktan. Neytiri found out about these “work trips” and demanded Jake put an end to it. Her priority was the people, which is why she never thought to stop it sooner. Jake promised her that he would stop, he even told you that he didn't want to see you anymore, but that promise only lasted a few hours before he came running back into your home.
Oh did he fuck up.
Neytiri came storming to your home while Jake was away, screaming at you and slapping you harshly against your face. “I’m gonna make sure everyone knows what you’ve been doing. Then when I banish you from the lands you will have no one to support you.” Your breath hitched in your throat, and your hand went cold over your now sore cheek. It wouldn’t be hard to take refuge with another clan that you were familiar with, but Jake on the other hand…
Jake lied about the Sky people, was at fault for the destruction of the hometree, and was shamelessly cheating on his wife. This could mean death for Jake Sully if Neytiri said a word.
Jake had finally entered your home, smiling widely while holding flowers. “Good afternoon sweetheart.” He walked up to you and handed you the flowers. You looked at him shocked, and threw the flowers to the ground. “Jake. Do you not understand how serious this is.”
“I thought you were excited to see me.” He said looking at the now squashed flowers on the ground.
“Your wife is heading to the tree of ancestors, and she’s about to explode your life as Toruk Makto! You will be banished! You will lose your role among the people and you’re worried about how excited your mistress is to see you?”
Jake scoffed, and walked forward, “How many times do I have to tell you that you're more than that.” He was now hovering right over you, looking down at you. He tilted his head, attempting to kiss your lips, which you swiftly rejected. “Y/n.” You closed your eyes, trying not to give in to the temptation of Jake’s comfort. “Don’t leave me, forgive me. I love you.”
“Stop. Jake.”
“I can’t stop! I won’t!”
“I am no longer the toy you can play with when you're bored or lonely Jake. I am disposable, I knew the day would come where you would get rid of me.” He began backing you into the wall, looking at you with lustful eyes, not even listening to your scolding. “You’re not listening! Foolish man! I am NOT the girl the guy gets at the end of the movie!” You yelled while pointing your finger in his face. “I am not your fantasy anymore, Jake.”
Jake looked at you with a blank expression, before slowly lowering and getting on his knees.”Hey! Stop. Jake. STOP!” You gripped his shoulders in an attempt to stop him from lowering but he sat still, looking up at you. “Don’t leave me. Please. We can- we can live life exiled. You will never have to worry about me leaving you. I will be unmarried, unburdened by the responsibilities as Toruk-
You raised your hand and slapped him, shutting him up immediately. “How dare you! How dare you kneel down to a lowly whore like me as the Olo’eyktan of the clan. How dare you speak lowly of your duties like this!” You harshly scolded him. With each curse you felt your heart breaking, finally seeing his ears lower. “You don’t love me, you love Neytiri, go after her, apologize, get on your knees for your Tsahik!”’ You seethed.
Jake stood from his knees, and you sighed, finally accepting the fact he was about to leave. But instead he pushed you into the wall, with his hand around your neck. He dipped his head and began placing kisses along your jaw. “I love you and I'm not leaving you.” He said softly. His grip tightened around your neck and he looked at you with a dark expression. “Don’t ever call yourself a whore, a mistress, or anything of the sort again. You are my soulmate Y/n. We belong together. My heart belongs to you.”
You closed your eyes and began sobbing, wailing loud enough for the entire village to hear. “You’re the worst Olo’eyktan known to man. Let me go Jake. Let me go. Don’t throw your life away because of me.” His lips found its way to your cheeks, kissing away your tears. His hands ran along your arms, warming up your goosebumped-littered skin. “I'm not going anywhere, love.”
His words, his touch, all of it became overwhelming. You finally grabbed onto him, throwing your arms across his broad back, accepting his embrace. You pressed your lips into his greedily, kissing him like it would be the last time. He kissed you back, hands running down to your rounded hips, and gripping.
A deep sigh echoed through your home, and the two of you paused, turning around to see Neytiri in the entrance. She held a closed fist to her chest, standing with her tail between her legs and her face frown-plagued. “I didn’t….I thought it was just an affair.”
“Neyti-” You started.
“I heard everything. Y/n, I apologize for- You-. Jake, it's her isn’t it? You love her.” Jake looked back only for a moment, scowling at his ‘mate’. “Glad you finally figured it out.”

Electric Love
Tumblr media
To write this I was inspired by some scenes from Neytiri and Jake. I offer an apology if some sentences are not understood. English is not my first language.
Summary: Neteyam falls in love with Y/N, the eldest daughter of Tonowari and Ronal.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Neteyam wanted to hug someone like his father to his mother.
He wanted to share smiles like Lo'ak and Tsireya did.
He even wanted his gaze to soften like Tonowari with Ronal.
The good news? He had already found that woman.
Bad news? None. To him, you were perfect.
Problem? He had never felt so shy and insecure about starting a conversation with someone.
"Bro, do you like her?" Lo'ak teased, but stopped when he saw his brother's frustrated face.
“Yes, I like her a lot. Why?"
"I don't know. I think she's a little rough for you."
"Oh, come on! You're not the nicest person."
Lo'ak was right. Friendly wasn't a word that came to everyone's mind when they described you. Several times he had seen you curse others. In your defense, you only did it when people disobey or misunderstood Olo'eyktan orders.
“They are all skxáwngs!”
"Language!" shouted Tonowari
"Yeah! Yeah! Got it! Why aren't you in your position?!”
"Put the spear down!"
Being the future of the Metkayina Clan made you had too many responsibilities, including taking care of your siblings.
There was no problem with Tsireya, but with Ao'nung…
"You have two options: you tell mother and father what you did or I swear that I will use you as bait with a family of akulas!
“Tsireya help me! She's going to kill me!"
Neteyam found no help in his younger brother, so he spoke to Tsireya.
"Sure! What is your question?"
The young Metkayina saw how the boy's hands began to shake.
"Are you o-
“HowcanIgetclosertoY/N?!”
"What? Sorry, I don’t understand you"
“Oh let an ikran bite me! Neteyam is in love with your sister." Lo'ak said
"Oh Eywa! Neteyam! Neteyam! That is so cool!” Tsireya was jumping with happiness.
"Yes, but, I don't know how to get close to her!" Neteyam put his hands on his face
“You don't have to worry. My sister can be a nice and funny. You will be…” Tsireya fell silent immediately when she saw the confused face of the brothers.
"You are hiding something"
"I'm coming, mother"
"She's not talking to you"
“The Tsahìk can't wait”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
"My father wants to talk to your eldest son," Ao'nung said.
Neteyam and Jake followed the boy until they reached the home of the clan leaders. Tonowari got up as soon as he saw them.
“You have nothing to worry about, your son did nothing wrong. Sit down"
You snorted
"Is this necessary? Father, we have enough warriors in training-
"Jakesully's son has a right to learn our ways and he needs to join that group" Tonowari interrupted
Neteyam tried to keep his hands from shaking because he was sitting next to you.
“Your eldest son has shown good progress. So I think it is a good that he learns the ways of our warriors. I have chosen my eldest daughter to be your mentor in this and it is decided!”
“Don't fall in love” Ao'nung murmured, who was behind his father. You tried to hit him, but Tonowari stopped you.
"I'm going to gouge out your eyes!"
“Kehe! Y/N!”
"Wiya!"
“I thank you for this opportunity, sir. I swear you will not regret allowing me to follow the ways of warriors” Neteyam interrupted the siblings' fight.
You looked at him. You had seen the Sullys from afar, but now you had more detail on the older one. For some strange reason, you found it very attractive that Neteyam's hair was long and that he moved through it too nimbly.
“Tomorrow. On the beach”, those were the last words you shared with him that day.
“You will spend time with her. You can make her fall in love with you!" Kiri said when Neteyam told Lo'ak and her this at dinner time.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
You noticed that Neteyam was nervous, deep down you felt sorry for him and remembered when you entered the group of warriors.
"I can't promise you they won't bite and they can be a little hard at first, but they are good"
Neteyam was shocked by your words.
"Thanks. Really, thanks"
"Look, I'm not the patient mentor you'd expect. It's learn fast or die and the second option is not available” You continued walking. Neteyam smiled a little. Yes, that was the Y/N he was waiting for.
"Mawey, Mawey!" You said to the young Metkayina as they tensed when they saw Neteyam. He recognized Roxto in the crowd and he gave him a small smile.
The first conversations were about how to control a fishing gun. They were all sitting around Y/N and two other warriors.
“They are Tenzú and Zila. They concluded their ceremony at the same time as Y/N” Roxto explained in a low voice.
Neteyam tried to pay attention to Tenzu's instructions, but he was too distracted. You wore two thick braids that held the rest of your hair up, your tattoo covered your arm up to your neck, from your right ear dangled what appeared to be the fang of an animal, and your arms had purple and blue beaded bracelets.
Oh Eywa he was so in love!
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
It was hard keeping up with you and even more so getting your attention, but Neteyam never gave up.
The first time he got your full attention was when you were teaching him how to throw spears. You settled very close to him. Neteyam could feel your breathing. He stopped looking ahead to focus on the sight of the beautiful woman beside him. You made eye contact with him. Your frown softened when you came across those green gems.
"You don't have ugly eyes," you whispered.
Neteyam smiled “Thank you. Yours are interesting too."
You moved away from him and turned his head to the front. You two continued with their task with a smile on their faces.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Day by day, the interactions with Neteyam became longer and the laughter appeared.
“I turned like this and felt such a breeze!”
“Yes and I dived faster”
“Too fast” Neteyam said as he smiled to hear your laugh.
The conversation at dinner continued without noticing the looks of their families.
“They seem to get along well,” Tonowari commented. Ronal nodded without leaving her serious face
“Being with him is good for her,” Tsireya said.
"Yes, she didn't yell at me today" Ao'nung replied.
“Our son is in love,” Neytiri told Jake with a smile on her face.
“I think she likes him too. It's obvious" Kiri said.
"That's my bro!" whispered Lo'ak
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Neteyam managed to complete the path of a Metkayina warrior. His tattoo covered his shoulder and half of his arm.
"Don't be too scared" you told him when you saw that they were halfway through the tattoo. Neteyam smiled at you.
"I'll try"
You smiled at him. Neteyam thought you looked so beautiful. Your hair was loose and you dangled an ornament with sparkling seashells.
“So quiet ” Neteyam said as you entered an underwater cave. They had escaped from the party.
Their legs were submerged and the water glistened from the tree of voices in the background.
“You are a Metkayina now. You can make your spear with the wood of your home…” you placed your hand on Neteyam's chest and paused for a moment as you focused on the ground and your smile fell “and you can choose a woman. We have very beautiful women. Zila is a good hunter."
"Yes, she is a good hunter" you looked up from him and Neteyam's reaction was to laugh at your reaction
"Oh come on!" he took your arm when you tried to move away from him and settled you in his lap.
"Y/N, I already chose" Neteyam kissed your forehead before speaking "but she must also choose me"
You smiled and laughed softly.
“She already did it"
Neteyam kissed you.
 “Oel Ngati Kameie, Ma Neteyam”
“Oel Ngati Kameie, Ma Y/N”
Both spent the time talking until dawn.
youtube
Thank you for reading!
Kehe: No!
Wiya: Dammit!
Mawey: Calm!
Oel Ngati Kameie: I see you

"Why am I your son but not like you?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: Kinda short but I tried. Done this at midnight.
Summary: Spider is seen down in the dumps by the Sully children. Lo'ak came to you to inform you of your son's behavior. Spider denies of anything wrong but a mother knows.
The curtain to your marui is pulled aside to reveal a young Na'vi that is very well known to you. Lo'ak stepped forward into the home and smiled politely but his eyes seemed to hold nervousness. "Y/N, sorry to bother you but uh..It's Spider..." The feelings of dread, fear, concern, curosity all bubbled in your gut. To imagine your own child in danger made you uneasy. The healing herbs are forgotten as you stood up to full height. Placing gentle hands on Lo'ak's shoulders, you looked into his golden irises. "Lo'ak, has something happened?" He shrugged his shoulders a little as he shook his head. "No clue. If something did happen, he won't say." A deep sigh built up in your lungs and then out your nose. It sure sounds like him. "Alright. Thank you, son. I will talk to the boy."
Spider sat by the waters' edge with his feet and ankles submerged in the ocean. His eyes looked passed the waves toward the horizon. He lifted a hand, watching as the sand slipped in his grasp and slowly fell onto the sandy earth.
He whipped his head to look behind him and his shoulders sagged after he saw it was you. "Hi, Ma..." He looked like a kicked puppy. He turned his head back to the blue ocean. "I thought you were busy with Ronal."
"I was but then I headed to the marui to find you. When you weren't there, I guessed you were with Lo'ak." You paused and looked over at the human boy. "What is wrong, 'itan."
Spider shook his head, the dreaded blonde locks swishing. He played with his fingers, his eyes downcast. "It's nothing. Just stupid thoughts."
Your hand being placed on his shoulder made him glance over under his lashes. Your soft voice spoke out as you applied a gentle squeeze to his shoulder. "Spider, it is not stupid if it is bothering you. Speak, boy."
Silent moments passed by before he looked up at you. "Why am I your son but not like you?" His voice sounded small, meak. There were times you noticed that he was more vulnerable like this. Times where he felt like just a small child again.
"Oh my dear boy.." You reached out and brought his smaller body closer to your's. He relaxed into your embrace, especially when your long fingers combed through his hair. "You may not be Na'vi, but I am your mother. Don't forget that."
Spider sighed and his arms wrapped around your torso as his head rested at your side. He felt like a little kid again, nuzzling into his mother's warmth for comfort. "Nga yawne lu oer, Mom."
A small genuine smile graced your lips as you placed a light kiss on his forehead. "And I love you too, my son."
Translations ->
'itan = son
Nga yawne lu oer = I love you

Tumblr media
Neteyam has always shown so much interest in you, and made his courting so obvious, but why do people still not get the damn hint?
Currently you are walking on a huge tree branch, high above the ground, with Lo’ak, Kiri and Spider. Neteyam isn’t here, much to your dismay, because he has “ Future Olo’eyktan duties” as Lo’ak likes to call it.
“it’s almost eclipse, let’s start heading back” Kiri mentions and for once, Lo’ak and Spider agree and make their way home without causing too much of a fuss
“woah guys, you barely even whined about having to go back home so early today, whatsup?” you question laced with sarcasm as you hear Kiri chuckle and nod in agreement with you.
“we don’t want to keep you away from your boyfriend for too long y/n, we all know how cranky my brother gets without you” Lo’ak adds and Spider cackles, thinking this is so super funny.
You shove Lo’ak and tell him to shut up, and that Neteyam’s not your boyfriend, and he doesn’t get cranky.
Your relationship with Neteyam was quite.. obvious , yet complicated. Both confused teenagers in love yet don’t know how to confess it, nothing was official, but everyone knew you were off limits, you were Neteyam’s girl.
you are clutching your stomach in pain from laughing too hard when you enter the Sully’s cave, wiping a tear from your cheek wondering how on pandora could someone be so stupid as lo’ak and spider.
You hear the laughter die down and your eyes set on a pair sitting together in the gathering room of the cave, Neteyam and Rini.
You eye both of them in confusion, so does Lo’ak, Kiri, and even Spider. You feel butterflies fluttering in your stomach but not in the good way, you don’t like how close Rini is to Neteyam.
“Guys, Rini caught me on the way back to our cave and said she wanted to hang out with everyone, hope no one minds?”
The four of you shake your heads and make your way to the pair to sit down with them. It was odd, Rini wasn’t good friends with any of you, maybe Neteyam? No, you would know. Why does she suddenly wanna hang out with us? Neteyam is often times too nice to say no, maybe he couldn’t deny her? You wonder if the others question the same, and maybe they do, judging by the looks on their faces.
“y/n” you hear your name in neteyam’s voice, he pats the spot next to him, the opposite side of where Rini is sitting, you don’t want to sit next to him, to be petty, but you oblige anyways, oblivious to the female na’vi glaring daggers at you, Neteyam gives you a bright smile, now that you got his attention, you’ll have it the rest of the night.
Neteyam embraces you in a warm hug, his hands sneaking around your waist as he whispers into your ear “missed you, you look good”
you smile shyly and open your mouth to thank him, but someone else beats you to it
“Neteyam! This cut on your arm looks terrible!! Are you okay? How’d you get it?!”
God. Her voice is annoying, why is she yelling? Neteyam is literally next to her?
You eye Kiri and she rolls her eyes at Rini, you stifle a laugh and Neteyam notices, smiling sweetly at your antics, momentarily forgetting Rini was even there, until he is bought back to his senses.
“Oh this? It’s nothing just a scratch”
“Do you want me to patch it up for you?”
Your eye twitches, you try to have a normal conversation with the other three, trying your best to ignore the two sitting right next to you, but Rini makes it unbelievably hard with her screeching voice.
“No I’m g-“
“I insist” Rini touches Neteyams shoulder and gives it a squeeze, you look at Neteyam and he knows it, you’re pissed. You stay quiet and enjoy the show infront of you.
“I’ll have y/n help me later Rini, it’s alright.”
“Oh- Oh yeah okay” she deflates, but you have a feeling deep down, this girl isn’t giving up so easily. You wonder who put her up to this. Her mother? Grandmother? Friends? Toruk Makto’s eldest son’s mate does have a nice ring to it, despite the length, but that title’s yours, she knows it.
You all are laughing at Lo’ak and Kiri arguing about who Spider likes better when Neteyam rests his head on your shoulder. You feel your stomach explode with butterflies again, the good kind.
“Tired?”
“mhm” Neteyam mumbles, you reach your hand up to the braid dangling infront of his face and move it behind his ear. Your romantic little moment is interrupted yet again by the same culprit from last time.
“Neteyammm, it’s so dark! Will you walk me to my cave?” Rini latches onto Neteyam’s arm and gives him a little tug thats powerful enough to have him pulling away from you and get him to stand up.
“Uh-“ Neteyam looks at you for approval, you’re not looking at him, instead opting the floor was a better option. Neteyam is no fool, he knows why you’re upset, he gets it too, if some random man was leeching onto you like Rini is, he’d be upset, hell, he’d be crazy. He doesn’t like that expression on your face, he doesn’t like when you’re sad, because of him too.
Neteyam look’s over to Lo’ak and Lo’ak immediately gets on it. “Bro don’t worry about it, Kiri, Spider and I will walk Rini to her cave, we know you’re tired and wanna be with your girlfriend”. Lo’ak smiles and winks at his older brother.
This throws Rini offguard.
“Thank you guys. Rini, see you around”.
“Awh Neteyam it’s a shame you couldn’t accompany me, y/n keeps snatching you away from me and if i’m correct.. she isn’t even your girlfriend.. you should spend more time with me and my friends!” Rini smiles slyly, her tone innocent but her intentions show clearly. Rini hugs Neteyam and whispers something in his ear, which you’re sure she said loud enough for you to hear on purpose.
“If you ever do need a mate that will actually commit, you know your options” she winks and pulls away from his embrace as the group starts to walk outside, irritated.
You stand up abruptly and walk past Neteyam who stood there dumbfounded.
“Y/n” He grabs your wrist to stop you from walking any further.
“Let go Neteyam, I wanna go home” You hate how wobbly your voice sounds when you speak right now.
“y/n, are you crying?” He sounds so worried it makes you even sadder
“i’m sorry baby, im sorry, i didn’t know she was gonna act like that” he pulls your head into his shoulder and strokes your back comfortingly.
“don’t call me that.. im not your girlfriend, and i don’t care how she acts” you say, though your tone and quivering lip betray your words
“y/n..” he pulls you away and cups your face with his gentle hands, afraid he would break you if he was any less gentle “cmon look at me” you meet his gaze and his eyebrows furrow at the sight of your slightly red but watery eyes
“you know you’re the only girl i ever want right? you’re so special to me y/n..why don’t you see that, i want you to be mine so bad, every morning i wake up and pray to Eywa to finally have let you see how desperate i am for you. why must you let someone like rini ruin your day?”
you sniffle, and Neteyam thinks its so cute he could kiss you right now, but he holds back.
“but i am yours nete” you say, unintentional doe eyes looking up at Neteyam that make him melt, he can’t hold himself back anymore .
Neteyam leans towards your face, held by his hands, and he stops right infront of your lips, asking for permission, waiting for disapproval “kiss me y/n” it sounds like a plead, like he’s almost begging, so you do.
you feel your head explode, his lips are so soft, so perfect against your own and you question why you didn’t do this before.
you pull away but neteyam chases after your lips and captures them again. You finally pull away and rest your forehead against his. Neteyam gives you another kiss that lasts shorter than your previous, “i see you, y/n”
you look up at him through your eyelashes and smile slowly
“say it back” he whispers against your lips and you almost give in.
“are you sure? you don’t wanna explore your other options?”
“you are the only option, ever.” you smile.
“i see you, neteyam” and you kiss him again, he whines into your mouth and you have to stop yourself from giggling at the sight of our future olo’eyktan being putty in your hands.
- you hear a sob from outside and later realize Rini stayed behind cuz she thought Neteyam would leave you and go after her but oh was she wrong
- loak kiri and spider dont even realize rini is missing and they start talking shit abt her once they do
- anytime rini saw u and neteyam after this, she would always have her fists balled up and bottom lip quivering
- she thought she still had a chance with neteyam after her eavesdropping on his confession but everytime yall hung out neteyam would be so clingy that eventually she realized he was too inlove with you
- fuck u rini hah hes mine btch

The chore. (Sully family x reader)
hey! this is my first story so bear with me this is gonna be a slightly sad one 💕 also this does have scenes from shows i definitely was inspired by and used some of the situation to go based off of the story :)
Being the overlooked sibling was a difficult role to hold. Only time I was ever acknowledged was when I was constantly being yelled at and told what to do even if it wasn’t my fault. I am the twin of lo’ak but with his crazy antics it just makes it even harder to get the approval of my father.
I had to teach myself everything. Observing others actions and having to figure it out. Even with the sly compliments I’ve received, my parents just brushed it off. As you can imagine it only got worse when I got older but when Tuk came it was like a light was brought to me. I was always distant with my siblings no matter how hard I tried to just have a relationship with them they were so tight I couldn’t find any space for me to be included. Dad constantly held me at a higher role saying “y/n you need to be strong! what don’t you get? stop being so reckless and bringing your siblings into things.” Majority of the time I was yelled at for things that weren’t my fault, I just was caught in at the wrong time or blamed for not watching them. It all didn’t seem fair. It was not fair.
I notice how my parents treated me differently from my sisters and to say it didn’t hurt is a complete lie. It hurts all the time, constantly being put on the back burner hurts. Even Lo’ak and Neteyam got off easier than me. I don’t know why my father holds so much resentment to me or why he puts me to the side like I’m a stray but it wasn’t only him I’m silently mad at, it’s my mom too. Why? How could she sit there and witness it , not see it. I can’t even be fully upset I just must sit there and smile and just try better or as dad says “you need to start using your brain and do better, for THIS family!” I just wish I got the dad my sisters got. I wanted the dad who tended to me and my feelings instead of the dad who told me to suck it up saying it wasn’t ok to cry or show emotions.
Now thinking of it, the only time we talk or well when they talk to me is when they order me around or when dad yells at me. It’s become a daily thing that I take care of Tuk every since she was a baby it became my job. Not that I wouldn’t want to take care of my beautiful sunshine , it’s just keeps me tired sometimes but she’s the only one that truly knows me.
Today I actually have to go look over the war and observe from a far with my brothers but that’s in a couple of hours.
I decided to take a break from practicing and teaching Tuk new things for a quick game of hide n seek. This will only improve her quickness and alertness so it’ll help her. Only it’s been a while since I last saw her run in the forest so I whistled out for her, patiently waiting for her whistle back, something I taught her in order to hear that she’s ok! When I did hear a whistle I looked down and quietly went into the bush to catch her. “THE TICKLE MONSTER IS HERE!” Hearing her sweet giggle kept me strong. I need to keep her safe and it was getting harder to be around when she ran off with our other siblings getting into trouble. It was coming near the time to head with the war party so I hopped on my Ikran and flew to where I had to meet my brothers. We WERE spotting until Lo’ak decided to stupidly go down. Neteyam and I quickly went down for him with zero hesitation and tried to get him to get out. “Lo’ak cmon this isn’t funny I’m not kidding. we have to go. you don’t know what your doin-“ I said trying to stop my brother from doing anything more reckless, that was until we got hit.
All I could hear was ringing , trying to gasp for more air feeling blood rush down my body. I slowly opened my eyes seeing my dad take the boys and hearing Lo’ak “Dad! Dad y/n was with us! We have to get y/n!” He’s leaving. He’s leaving me. Knowing I’m down here. “She shouldn’t have been down there either. She’ll find a way home. We have to go.” In that entire moment my heart shatters. I wanted to just give up right then and there, everything that I’ve feared being true, that he didn’t give a single shit about me. I looked down to my side having a slight gash and my arm having a even larger gash. As I was escaping I can feel everything burn and my entire body fighting to even stay awake until I wasn’t. I decided to just take a break before I’d fall off my Ikran from exhaustion. Once I woke up it was already eclipse so I made my way to the healing tent and decided to just stitch myself up in order to avoid the trouble of pulling anyone out or getting more in trouble.
I never did this before. I mean I have observed and learned from a far since no one wants to teach me but stitching is new. Yelping in pain every once and awhile the needle pierced through my skin but once I was done I was only fueled by anger. So much pent up anger I didn’t even know I let go on for that long, just sitting in the silence trying to calm myself down before having to be yelled at once again for something I tried to fix not even that just that but, for not coming home before eclipse even when my own father left me in pain when I needed him. Actually considering the thought of leaving the forest and finally finding a place I can call home. I had already planned an emergency bag…this isn’t the first time I have had these thoughts, but this might actually be my last straw. Only reason why I didn’t leave was because of my baby sister. My thoughts were soon interrupted.
“Y/n you were ordered to SPOT. LOOK AT THE MESS YOU MADE-“ For a moment, for a slight moment. I actually was gonna take all the hits he sent my way but my anger, frustration towards him. towards his voice. towards his stupid orders. towards everything about him. “I’m. Still. Not. Home. I was injured and YOU left me out there to die.” silence was the only thing there as I stared at my parents resisting ever urge to cry tears of anger something I got used to as a kid being told crying was a weakness and it wasn’t ok if I cried, it wasn’t normal. “I-I didn’t know what else to do. I didn’t see you, I-I-“ now hearing the ashamed feeling in my dad’s voice, but I didn’t feel bad because I KNOW he saw me bloody lying on the floor. I KNOW he had enough time. I KNOW he didn’t hesitate to leave me. And I KNOW he’s gonna deny it.
“HOW?! I heard it all dad. I heard Lo’ak calling for you to come back for me. I saw you look at me and you were completely fine in leaving me. You’re a liar and a shitty fucking dad….why tf would you leave me?…You are fucking dead to me.” Hearing my mom cut in “y/n no you don’t mean that!” I looked at her smiled and looked back at my dad “I mean every.fucking.word. You’re dead to me “Dad”. You know I have a lot of regrets…in my life but I gotta tell you Dad being your daughter is at the top of my list.” I took a moment to finally see his emotions…he was crying… to this I scoffed and laughed. “oh now you want to cry? yea you’re just draining. You just like going around to suck the spirit out of everyone.”
I try to stop myself , I try to hold back but the more I do the more bottled up feelings come out “no no y/n i see y-“ anger erupts even more “no don’t say that! Stop saying that! You drained me. And it fucking hurts dad. You. Don’t. Love. Me. You left me. When I needed you! And a real father someone who cares would never throw me to the side the way you did…you always had your favorites. You always blamed ME. It didn’t matter if I was there or not I was the one to blame. You don’t even know anything about me. You don’t care about me. You do not love me.” Tears fall. tears that I didn’t even know I had. So I laugh at them. I witness the regret and guilt rush to my parents head realizing how they truly forgot they even had y/n as a daughter instead of just a baby sitter or someone who just followed their orders. This was the moment they realized something inside their daughter was broken and it can never be fixed.
“I gave you all. Every part of me, I have given to you. Hoping that one day you’d open your arms to me and until that moment I held a patient smile. I know now that, the idea I dreamed of will never happen. Even when I would TRY talking to you, all your ever did was push me away. So while I did everything you asked of me and more. You considered me the chore, the job you didn’t want to do. Don’t worry now, I do not want your excuses because up until you left me to die, you WERE my everything.”
I walked out but not without noticing my siblings on the side I could see the realization hit their faces, realizing that they too forgot they had a sister. The sister that took care of Tuk, handled everything she was dealt with, and more importantly the sibling they also pushed away, the sister they didn’t even want to hear stories about when Tuk was talking. Then I see Tuk my sunshine, I smile taking in her baby face one last time.
Then I rush to “home” to get my bag that I packed, I’ve been waiting for this very moment, just waited for the bandaid to rip. I hoped that a moment like this would never occur, something in my heart broke knowing that it didn’t matter anymore it was bound to happen. I called for my Ikran, crying my eyes out realizing this was really it, and that I would have to tear away from all I knew in order to finally grow and be happy. That was until I felt a tug on my leg stopping me from getting on my Ikran. Tuk. “please y/n don’t leave. Don’t leave me. You have taught me everything please y/n don’t leave home. Or just take me with you.” My heart breaks all over again looking at the child that I practically raised even if she always returned to my parents arms at night or held by them in the evening. She’s the only thing that held me here, my baby sister, my sunshine. “Tuk I see you sister but, I can’t take you with me, I can’t let you leave your home.” I can only hear her heart shatter even more. “No sister. you will take me. your all I need right now. It’s always been us please. I won’t do anything without you.” I look back and forth contemplated for a little and then…agreed. I held her close and wrapped a blanket around her, preparing for the ride.
Again this is my first story so please be understanding! :) hope you enjoyed it 💕

Tumblr media
A group of Metikayina crowd around an unseen subject by the shore. You and Tsireya have followed the commotion, pushing through to see a human boy. Blonde hair and brown eyes with blue tattoos littering his body, you use your prior knowledge to guess who it is. Spider.
Your father, Jake, Neytiri, Tuk, Neteyam, and Lo’ak stand behind him, having both looks of defeat and shame on their faces. Kiri sits next to you, anxiously watching Spider as he explains the situation.
“Those ships will be here soon.” He points to the sky toward the stars you and Lo’ak saw last night. “If he doesn’t give himself up now, they’ll come here.” He urges, “Ayfo tìng oeti tsìng trr sreayfo tìtakuk ngeyä kelku fte tsawng. (They give me 4 days before they blow your home to pieces). I’m begging you to listen to me.”
The people whisper, murmuring about how strange it is that a human is in front of them rather than the issue at hand. Jake intently stares at the floor, presumably thinking of what he’ll do. He shakes his head, hanging it low as he begins walking off in the direction toward the marui’s, away from the forefront.
Your father follows after him, leaving the crowd without direction. Following suit, Neteyam and Lo’ak walk behind them as they disappear into a canopy. Kiri reaches out and grabs Spider’s arm, freeing him from the judging eyes of the people. The two of them get up and begin walking toward a secluded part of the island. Having nothing else to see, everyone begins to disperse, discreetly catching glances at Spider.
You take Tsireya’s hand and stand up, the two of you speed walking to catch up with Kiri.
“Are you guys going to leave?” Tsireya asks, looking past you to Kiri. Her and Spider both look over, not noticing you’ve walked up beside them.
“I don’t know.” Kiri sighs, looking at the floor. “The whole reason we came is to escape the Sky People and now..”
“You’re always welcome to stay here, Kiri.” Tsireya insists. “We granted you uturu (Refuge), that goes to all lengths.”
“But are your people willing to risk a guaranteed attack just to hide Jake?” Spider speaks up.
You eye him, still not keen on the idea of him being in Awa’atlu, let alone speaking to your sister. Tsireya looks down, knowing that Ronal definitely would have a lot to say about that. If it were up to her, they’d all be on ikrans back to the forest by now.
The 4 of you reach a part of the beach away from everyone else and sit down, forming a circle.
“So does this mean that me and Lo’ak are off punishment?” You kid, attempting to lighten the mood.
Kiri and Tsireya dryly chuckle, still feeling the weight of your circumstances.
“What punishment?” Spider asks, confused.
Kiri looks to you for approval to tell the story before turning her attention back to him.
“Lo’ak and Alya got caught on the docks alone at night. Dad and Olo’eyktan forbade them from seeing or talking to each other.”
A smile grows on Spider’s face. “That’s my boy!” He claps, misreading the situation.
“Stop it!” Kiri shoves him. His grin quickly fades.
The 4 of you begin discussing what Spider’s life has been like since he was captured. Kiri winces as he explains how he was tortured and interrogated over and over. Thankfully, he never gave any information up. Specifically, not where the Omiticaya fled to after Hometree was destroyed.
Your conversations come to an end when you all see Neteyam and Lo’ak walking toward you. You’re silent as they sit down, the looks on their faces not giving you much hope.
“So?” Spider says, “What’d they say?”
Lo’ak looks up to his brother, clearly not wanting to be the one to answer. Neteyam’s eyes stay glued to the sand, avoiding eye contact.
“What is it?” Kiri urges, closely looking at Neteyam.
“We’re leaving.” He lowly mumbles.
Your heart sinks and you beg Eywa that you misheard him. They can’t be leaving. The only other people who you can be your full self around. The only ones who enjoyed your presence. The ones who saw you for you and not whoever your mother was - couldn’t be leaving.
“What?” Tsireya almost whispers. “My father granted you uturu he said you can stay. There’s no way he-“
“It wasn’t him.” Lo’ak interrupts. “Tonowari said we could stay. Ronal wasn’t happy about it but uturu is uturu. He agreed to hide and fight for us.”
“Then why leave?” Her voice shakes.
“Dad refused.” Neteyam speaks up. You all look at him. “He said he won’t let Awa’atlu go down for him.”
“But we’ll fight for him!” Tsireya raises her voice, getting more emotional by the second. “Please tell him to stay, you guys can’t fight alone!”
“It’s already done, Tsireya.” Neteyam shakes his head.
You frown, knowing that when they leave you’ll have to go back to only having one person you can trust on this island.
“When does he plan to leave?” You ask.
“We leave for High Camp first thing tomorrow.” Lo’ak responds, the first time he’s directly spoken to you in front of others since your punishment began. “We go quietly.”
A silence falls upon you all, knowing that they’d have a better chance here than they’d ever have fending for themselves. A Toruk Makto, Tsakarem, and their young children aren’t equipped to fight the Sky People with a dozen ships.
Kiri fiddles with her braids, getting more anxious in the silence. She looks down at Spider and notices a paper in his hand. He’s been holding it since he arrived to the shore.
“What’s that?”
He looks at her before revealing it, laying it in the middle of the circle. It’s a picture. A lot like the ones of Hometree that Jake brought with him.
You all gather around the picture, leaning in to get a better look. It’s a group of Avatars with a huge space ship behind them.
“Who are they?” You ask.
“The RDA.” Spider says.
“RDA?”
“The sky people who are coming for Jake.” He explains, “They gave me this to show the Olo’eyktan to confirm my story.”
You point to the shaved headed man in the center. He holds a huge gun with a broad smile on his face. “Who’s this?”
“That’s Quaritch. He’s the ringleader.” Lo’ak explains. “Spider’s dad.”
Spider shoots Lo’ak a look, obviously not wanting that information to be revealed. He points to and names all of the other people in the picture before he gets to the last one. A woman standing next to Quaritch.
“That’s his girl.” Spider says.
A pit forms in your stomach, not knowing if what you’re seeing is true. But it was unmistakeable. The big green eyes, the two french braids running down her head. Your mother wasn’t a woman who you could miss.
“Her hands.” Tsireya takes a closer look. “She’s Na’vi.”
“Native.” Spider confirms. “She was captured years ago and now she’s just one of them, I guess. Quaritch seems to like her.”
Your breathing heavies as you stare at the photo, a million things running through your mind. Just from the sight of her all of your memories rush back. But the one thing you’ve never forgotten was the song she’d sing to you at all times.
ʼìʼawn txur, oeyä ‘ong. Tìyawn txa’ sí rey hu ral sí äo Eywa tsunslu nga tsurokx. (Stay strong, my bloom. Love hard and live with meaning and under Eywa will you rest).
“Alya, you okay?”
You don’t even register Kiri’s question, your eyes staying glued to the woman in the picture. Her smile looks so much like yours, you father wasn’t wrong about that.
“Alya?” Tsireya shakes your shoulder.
You finally snap out of your trance upon contact, attempting the best you can to pull yourself together.
You clear your throat. “What’s her name? Beside Quaritch.” You ask Spider.
“Uh, Ashik? Asmik? Something like tha-“
“Aìsik. (Ah-seek).” You correct, never having forgotten her name.
‘Aìsik and Alya, the most gracious girls in Eywa’eveng. (Pandora).’ Your dad would always say.
Lo’ak looks at you, “You know her?”
“No.” You shake your head, scrambling for a lie. “She um- She’s come here before, a long time ago. Spoke to my father once. I just recognized her.”
Their gazes linger on you, not fully understanding. You pray that Tsireya doesn’t ask you to elaborate on your story as they glare. Fortunately, they quickly brush it off, going back to discussing the RDA soon after.
——
The sun has begun to fall by the time you could execute your plan, the sun casting a beautiful light on the reefs. You sneak out of the Sully family’s marui with the picture of the RDA crew in your hands. You return back to your own empty pod, your family still out in the village.
You sit criss cross beside your hammock, folding the picture to where you can only see your mother before closing your eyes. Your voice is almost inaudible as you talk to Eywa, asking for her to guide you to Aìsik, no matter how she did it.
“Oe ni’aw new fte tse’a peyä key, Nawma sa’nok. ‘Efu peyä tìng zekwä. Keysran nga tìng oeti, oe irayo si. (I just want to see her face, great mother. Feel her touch. Whatever you give me, I am grateful).”
“Feel who’s touch?” You hear a small voice.
Your eyes fly open before landing on the only person you wouldn’t mind hearing you right now. You sigh a breath of relief as she sits down, looking at the picture in your lap.
“The woman who ‘came here a long time ago?’” Tsireya teases, lightly taking the picture from you. It’s clear that she knows you lied, but she hasn’t figured out the full of it yet. You just look, waiting for it to hit her.
“She looks like you.” She observes.
“Yea…”
Tsireya brings the picture closer to her face, examining it.
“Wait,” She lets the sun rays hit it, squinting. “Alya is this…”
She looks up to you. You softly nod, nervously messing with your fingers as you wait for her reaction.
“I realized immediately.”
“I-“ She shakes her head in disbelief. “Why didn’t you say anything?”
“What would I say?” You shrug. “Besides, I thought it better if I processed it alone before telling everyone.”
She nods, continuing to look from you to the picture and back at you, not believing how identical the two of you look now that she knows.
“What do you remember of her?” She asks.
“I blocked a lot of it out once she was taken. It made it hurt less. But seeing her again brought a lot of it back.” You explain, gazing out at the ocean view.
“She used to braid my hair like that every night, I loved the waves it gave me the next day.” You begin to reminisce. “Or she’d sing songs to me when the storms got bad.”
Tsireya’s gaze bores into you, “She sounds like a beautiful soul, Alya.”
“She was.” You smile. You don’t know if you should refer to her as is or was anymore. The woman she was years ago could be long gone by now, especially if she proudly works alongside the Sky People in their heinous endeavors.
“But Reya, you can’t tell anyone about this.”
She shakes her head, “I won’t.”
“Swear. Promise to Eywa you won’t say a word to anyone, not until I’m ready. Please.”
“I swear.” She assures you. “Under Eywa I won’t tell a soul.”
The sun has finally fallen now, the cool breeze of the ocean air slithering through your hair. The distant giggles of Kiri and Spider ring out through the reefs as she attempts to teach him how to ride an ilu. You watch from the docks outside of your marui, your arms crossed in attempts to keep warm. You’re losing yourself in your own thoughts when you feel a familiar presence come beside you.
“He walks like us.” You say as Neteyam settles next to you, staring out as well.
“He’s only ever known us.” He mimics your stance, crossing his arms.
“He learns quickly. Faster than Lo’ak did.”
“Everyone learns faster than Lo’ak.” He teases. You laugh under your breath before lowering yourself until you’re sitting, Neteyam doing the same.
“Are you ready to go?” You ask, your hands in your lap.
“Everything’s packed.” He says. Even though you knew it was coming, the reality only just hits. “We’re departing by ikran early tomorrow. Before any of you wake up.”
“So this is our last goodbye?”
He looks down and grabs your hand. “I guess so.”
He bows his head, pressing a kiss just above your wrist. Your stomach flutters, still not used to such treatment.
“What am I going to do without you, Neteyam?” You tilt your head in admiration.
“You’re going to continue thriving, Ri’Alya.” He squeezes your hand. “You and your sister are going to grow to be the best free-diver’s Awa’atlu has ever seen and you won’t give the Sully boys another thought.”
“Not true.” You insist. “Without you, I’ll go back to being the outcast. The hiyìk (strange) Olo’eyktan’s daughter who was born with no honor. No one will ever understand that, not even my sister.”
“No. None of that will happen because you’re going to show them you, the real you. You’re going to show them how you love late night ilu rides and how compassionate you are for others. How you’ve put up with their ridicule no matter how much they deserved to be shamed for it and then they’re all going to fall for you. The same way I have, and they’re not going to ever consider wanting another Tsakarem.” Neteyam attests, holding eye contact.
You wish that he was right as you stare back at him, reveling in the glory of his fantasy for just a second. But it doesn’t last long when a loud giggle from Kiri echoes across the water and all you can think about is how you won’t ever hear that again. You won’t ever see them again.
You pull your hands from Neteyam, looking down at them attempting to hold back tears.
“I wish you could just take me with you.” You whisper, halfway talking to yourself.
“I’d love to, oeyä tanhí. (my star).” He smiles, nicknaming you. “But they’d never allow that.”
This sparks an idea in you, one that you’d never considered until now. There has to be a way for you to return to the forest with them, and now you have every intent to.
“They don’t have to know.” You perk up, opportunity striking.
He scoffs, “What do you mean?”
“What if we just go? When you’re leaving I’ll just come with you and refuse to stay.”
“Ri’Alya, you sound-“
“But it could work, right? How could they really force me to stay?” You scheme.
“Why would you even want to?” Neteyam challenges. “How do you know that the forest has anything for you that the reef doesn’t?”
You mindlessly shake your head, “The forest has you, Neteyam. And it has Lo’ak, and Kiri, and Tuk. It has the people I feel at home with.”
“You’d leave your sister for us?” He questions, “Your father?”
You exhale, feeling torn as you have to pick. If it were up to you you know you’d bring your sister with you wherever you go, even the forest. But you also know that she’d follow you wherever you go, even if she didn’t want to.
Tsireya is a reef girl. She loves it here, she’s accepted here, and you won’t be the one to force her away from it.
“I have to go…I have to.” You shrug, contemplating if you should tell him the final reason why.
“Why? What’s there for you? I want you to go, I do. But I also want you to know what you’re asking for before you make such a big decision. Such a permanent decision.”
You’re going to tell him. You have to. He won’t understand how much you need this if you don’t.  Besides, you’re going to the forest either way. Better him know sooner than later.
“Neteyam, do you remember the woman from the photo?…”
——
You watch intently from your marui as the Sully family walks to and from their ikrans, preparing to leave. The sun has just risen and the village is still silent and asleep. The family is quiet, as promised.
Neytiri sets Tuk on her banshee (ikran) before turning back to retrieve her bags. Spider and Kiri walk out next, Lo’ak behind them. They settle on their own dragons and you begin to worry, still not seeing Neteyam.
Only when Neytiri walks out for a final time do you see him, following behind her. He looks toward your marui and you reveal yourself, jogging to catch up with him.
“You’re just in time.” He whispers, quiet enough to not alert his mother. “Do you have all you need?”
“I have nothing to bring.” You say, stroking the necklace that Tsireya made you on your neck “Ronal and my father will wake up soon. We should be going quickly, right?”
“Right.” He assures you.
You didn’t plan for this part. There was no elaborate plot for how you’d make it to the forest. You were simply going to…go. Nothing could make you get off of the ikran once you were on.
Neteyam holds a hand out for you and you take it, swinging your leg over his ikran. You slightly panic when it makes a small screeching sound, as you’ve never ridden such an animal before.
You can feel everyone’s eyes on you, watching silently in confusion. But they don’t say anything, only watching to see what happens next.
“Neteyam.” Neytiri speaks up.
Of course she does.
He drops his head and exhales before looking back at her, knowing this wasn’t going to go smoothly.
"Pelun lu wintxu fitsenge? (Why is she here?)” She asks, as if you don’t understand the language.
"Poe ziya'u.” He says, “Tsa'u letsranten. (She's coming. It's important).”
She shifts her gaze from Neteyam to you, waiting for an elaboration.
“I have to go. I promise I’ll explain on the way-“
“Keke (No), Explain here.” She insists.
“It’s not something I can-“
“Ma Jake.” Neytiri calls as she sees him walking toward you.
“Mother...” Neteyam groans, realizing how downhill this is about to go.
“What’s going on?” Jake asks, dawning on the shore.
She points to you, “He says she’s coming with us.”
He half laughs, not fully taking you seriously.
“No, no, no.” He shakes his head, “You can’t come with us.” He holds out two hands for you to come down, “Hop off.”
Neteyam looks up at his father, “Please, just let her explain on-“
“I don’t want an explanation.” He says still gesturing for you to come down. “All I know is you need to be far from us by the time your father gets out here, which is soon, so please come down now, sweetheart.”
“Dad-“
“Neteyam.” He eyes him, silently telling him that he’s had enough. Getting the message, he lowers his head and walks away. Jake continues asking for you to come down as Neteyam makes his way to Lo’ak, whispering something to him. Spider, Kiri, and Tuk continue to watch the ordeal.
“Jake…” Neytiri speaks up.  You all look at her to see her fixated on something in the distance. Looking back toward the village, you see the one thing that you really didn’t want to see today. Ao’nung, Tsireya, and your father all come marching out, a confused look on all of their faces.
Jake becomes increasingly frustrated, quietly pleading with you to come down before this turns into something bigger. A mixture of embarrassment and contemplation rush through your mind as you know you can’t get off, but you also know that you specifically wanted to disappear quietly. Lo’ak dismounts his ikran just as your father makes it to the shore.
“What’s going on?” Your dad asks, looking between you and Jake.
“Alya?” You hear your sister call. You can’t bare to look at her, knowing that you’re leaving her indefinitely.
Jake tries to explain to him but is constantly stuttering in a mix of asking you to come down and describing the situation. At the same time, Lo’ak begins wandering off back toward his marui, giving another thing for Jake to be stressed about.
“Dad I think I left something…” He mindlessly walks back inland.
“No, Lo’ak-“
“Lo’ak, where are you going?” Neytiri calls for him. She hops off of her banshee and begins walking toward him. “Lo’ak stop!”
Everyone’s voice begins to overlap each other. Your father and Tsireya asking what’s happening, Jake scrambling to explain, Neytiri yelling after Lo’ak, and Neteyam trying to calm his dad down. You’ve never been in the middle of such chaos.
“Jesus, would you please just get off?” Jake pleads, “Please?”
You shake your head, feeling bad for the scene you’ve caused. “I’m sorry, I can’t.”
He curses to himself, turning to your father who is only getting more confused and angry. They’re so busy talking over each other that they don’t notice Neteyam mount his ikran in front of you, grabbing the reins.
“We’re going.” He says lowly, fastening his packed bag around his neck.
“What?” You ask.
“Hold on.”
You don’t have time to think as you link your arms around his waist. He adjusts his position one last time before pulling on the ikran’s antennae. It lets out a loud screech, grabbing everyone’s attention as the broad wings begin to flap. You hear Spider exclaim in awe as they all look up at you.
“Neteyam!” Neytiri and Jake shout, horrified looks on their faces.
Your family desperately calls for you, but Neteyam doesn’t stop. The two of you take off, the screams from the island getting further and further as you ascend.
Your mouth is agape, the silence of the skies allowing the last 60 seconds to really set in.
"Nang! (Oh my!) I can't believe we just did that!" You yell to Neteyam, looking back at Awa’atlu getting smaller.
He lets out an exhilarated laugh, whooping in freedom as the two of you soar through the sky. You can’t help but laugh, feeling a sense of liberty you never have before. As if the two of you are the only ones in all of Pandora.
——
It didn’t take long for the Sully’s to catch up with the two of you. You’re halfway relieved, as Neteyam has no idea how to get to the mountains alone and the sun is beginning to set. But those are the only upsides, as it is quickly becoming a miserable trip.
They caught you two at least an hour ago and haven’t said a word yet, presumably letting the guilt eat you alive. The only ones who dare utter a word is little Tuk, occasionally waking up to ask if we’re there yet, or Kiri and Spider being in their own little world.
After silently avoiding it all day, you and Neteyam eventually end up next to Jake and Lo’ak’s ikran. You don’t dare speak first, barely having the courage to look at Jake. He takes a breath, composing himself before he speaks to you.
“Listen, it’s not too late to go back.” He whispers, Lo’ak dozing off in front of him. “If we turn around here we’ll be back by morning. We could still mend things.”
You huff, not understanding how many more ways you can say no.
“I can’t go back.” You say, evoking a frustrated grunt from Jake. “Especially not now, I have to get to the mountains.”
“Why?” He asks, almost hissing in irritation.
“I can’t tell you.” You reiterate, “When the time comes, you’ll know, okay?”
He rolls his eyes before they land on Neteyam. He hasn’t looked at his dad yet as he seems entranced.
“Well, could you at least move your hands up?” Jake speaks one last time. This catches Lo’ak’s attention as he wakes up and looks over.
You look down to notice your hands hanging very low around Neteyam’s waist. You quickly remove them, Neteyam clearing his throat and seeming to relax a bit more.
That’s why he was acting like that?
You make as much space between the two of you as you can while Jake laughs, finding your discomfort very funny. Neteyam rolls his eyes at his dads childish antics.
Your arms are threaded under Neteyam’s and your head lays on his back, much closer than you were earlier. He softly places his hand over yours and shakes, waking you up. You open your eyes to see the green and grey landscape as everyone begins landing their ikrans.
The famous Hallelujah Mountains.
“Home sweet home.” Spider remarks, hopping off of his animal behind Kiri.
The family begins fastening their few bags onto their backs and heading up a plant lined trail. Neytiri carries Tuk on her hip and treads behind the two teenagers, Jake following close behind her. There’s only 3 of you left as Lo’ak grabs his things and jogs to catch up with his dad, not acknowledging you or his stunt that saved you back at the village.
Neteyam jumps down before holding a hand out for you . Once on solid ground and after a deep stretch, you reach up to grab a bag off of the ikran.
“Oh no, you don’t have to.” Neteyam insists.
“It’s okay.” You say, swinging a pack onto your back.
“Alya, really-“
“It’s the least I can do, truly.” You smile. He nods in understanding before leading the way up the winding trail.
You only get more surprised by the beautiful ambience and imagery of the mountains, feeling like you’re in a kingdom above the clouds with each step.
The bag on your back is beginning to take a toll after 20 minutes of trudging up the mountains. Neteyam says you’re walking to a place called ‘High Camp,’ where they’ve been living ever since the sky people destroyed Hometree. Jake announces that you’re getting close, giving you the final stream of will to keep walking. The group is spread out in a double file line, Jake and Neteyam now in the front. You and Lo’ak have trailed behind as you try to mask how exhausted you are.
“I assume Neteyam told you.” You speak up, breaking the uncomfortable silence growing between you.
“Told me what?” Lo’ak looks at you, playing coy.
You give him a blank stare, knowing full well that he knows what you’re talking about. But he gets points for effort.
“Yea.” He breaks under your gaze. He looks back down to his feet, focusing on getting up the last steep hill. “Are you sure it’s her?”
“I don’t think I could ever forget her face.” You tell, “It’s one of those things that stays in the back of your mind forever, you know?”
He nods, mindlessly kicking rocks.
“What do you plan to do if you meet her?”
You shrug, having that unanswered question lingering in your mind the entire ride here.
“I’m not sure yet.” You admit. “But I had to take a chance on her. It seems better than staying holed up in the village and hiding.”
He nods again, “I feel you.”
Finally, you look up to see a grey cement cube with a bright orange door. You all crowd around it as Jake gets it open.
“You live here?” You examine at the science lab looking building.
“We live there.” Kiri points a little further South, a distant cave system in view. “This is just a kind of…base camp.”
You hum just as Jake opens the door. The Sully children go running in and you’re beyond amazed when you see more Sky People than you’ve ever seen in your life scattered throughout the building. They begin having conversations with your friends as if they’ve known each other for centuries. You’ve never seen anything like it.
You slowly walk in, not fully understanding what’s going on. You drop your bags in the same spot that Kiri does right as she runs to a huge blue tank.
“Here.” A human woman beside you passes you a mask. You look at her, alien. Not even understanding how or why she’s here. “To breathe.”
It’s only then when you realize that your chest is feeling a little tight. You can gather that this air for you is what Pandoran air is for Spider. You place the mask over your face, watching Kiri speak to a floating woman in the blue pod. If you ever get back to tell Tsireya about this, you know she’ll flip.
You flinch when you feel a hand on your shoulder. You spin around to see a very non-scary face. Neteyam. He wears a huge smile, clear that this truly is his home. It’s where he wants to be.
“Don’t be overwhelmed, but there’s more to see.” He says before waving you to follow him as he jogs toward the door. His siblings follow closely behind him.
“Where are we going?” You ask, watching them giddily run out.
“To the forest!” Tuk says, practically jumping up and down. “We’re going to be super spies!” She runs ahead of you.
“The forest?”
Spider walks up next to you, much more simmer than the rest of them.
“Jake wants to see the Sky People for himself.” He informs, “Wants to know exactly who he’s fighting…or something.”
“Hm.” You nod, the two of you walking out behind Tuk.
Neytiri is the first one you see when you step out. She stops Tuk in her tracks, picking the small girl up.
“You’re not coming.” She says, holding her.
“What! Why!?” Tuk whines.
Jake emerges from the side of the building, carrying much less bags than he was when we arrived.
“None of you are.”
The 4 remaining kids erupt in a sea of whines and pleads, begging Jake to let you all tag along.
“We just got back home!” Spider reasons.
“We’ll be so quiet, dad. I swear.” Lo’ak adds.
Jake looks to Neytiri. She raises her eyebrows and shrugs in an ‘You know what I’d do.’ manner.
Jake sighs, knowing he’d be ridiculed later if he told them no.
“Fine.” He breaks. They all cheer, Lo’ak and Neteyam doing some complex handshake that came out of absolutely nowhere. “But, if any one of you screw something up in the slightest, it’s all of our asses. Got it?”
“Yes, sir.” They all agree with ridiculous smiles on their faces. Kiri agrees to stay back with Tuk, as she never had any interest in such things anyway.
Spider struggles to lift his feet as he trudges through the leaves that grow taller than him. You walk a bit slower so that he can keep up with you as you find yourself lost in a variety of conversations about each other’s family.
“Your father is an Avatar and you’re not?” You try to understand.
“Right. But he wasn’t an Avatar when I was born.”
You shake your head, trying to wrap your mind around all of the new and unheard of things you’ve learned ever since you landed.
“You should hear Kiri’s story.” He scoffs, “You’d be blown away.”
You laugh, making sure to keep your voice down as you trek through the woods.
“So how long did you spend with the sky people?” You ask.
“My dad? No more than a week. But your mom and I just met a few days ago.”
You huff, not recalling telling Spider who Aìsik was to you.
“Did Neteyam tell everyone?”
“Not him. But Lo’ak has never been able to keep a secret.”
 You aren’t surprised.
The two of you continue talking. You’re mesmerized by the blue tattoos on his skin and the way his mannerisms match Na’vi’s so perfectly. Everything about him astonished you. It seems almost improbable.
You notice Neteyam gaze back to you in your peripheral. You look at him ahead of you, flashing a small smile. He barely returns it before turning back around, ducking just in time to miss a leaf to the head. You brush it off, turning back to Spider.
“So if you-“
“Shh, shh.” Jake shushes all of you.
The group becomes instantaneously silent as Jake holds a fist in the air. You look ahead and realize that you’ve reached the sky people. They’re oblivious to the fact that you’re there as everyone naturally falls into positions. You look around cluelessly, not having been briefed on these said positions. Neteyam and his dad are behind one tree to the left as Neytiri and Lo’ak are parallel to them, staying close to the trunk as to stay hidden. Jake waves his hand at you and Spider, telling you to get down.
Spider grabs your arm and pulls you down, hiding behind a large stray piece of metal lying between the two trees. On the way over here, Spider told you about this place. The site where Jake fought his father, but he was a human then. Jake told the story to them over and over around the campfire when they were kids, Jake the Mighty Warrior, he’d call himself.
Quaritch and two other 5 fingered blue men stand outside, huge rifles hanging across their chests. They’re causally talking to each other while slowly pacing the area, they’re on watch. The door opens again and two more men walk out, a woman behind them.
You feel like the world goes silent when she hops down the stairs, her two braids looking identical to yours, the same they did years ago. She wears a loincloth chest and waist piece, the only appropriate attire out of the 5 of them. It’s clear that she’s the only native Na’vi in the lot and she stays true to her Omiticayan roots.
You feel entranced as you watch her walk over to the Colonel, striking up a conversation. You lightly place your hands on the metal, using it for support as you lift your head to get a better look.
But you’re ripped out of your state when you hear the worn out metal loudly creek under you. Your heart stops, believing you just signed a death certificate for every single one of you. The four men in front of you immediately take notice. They swiftly grip their guns and form a semi-circle around your mother, as if they had set positions for an instance like this. They surround her like knights to a queen while they point their guns out, the forest now radio silent.
Your gasp barely escapes you before you feel Spider reach up and yank you back down. Your breath quickly turns into a heave as Spider holds a hand over your mouth, not letting any sound escape. Your chest frantically moves up and down as you look up at him. He puts a finger over his mouth and shakes his head, soundlessly begging you to keep quiet. You look over to Neytiri to see her pulling her bow back, prepared to raise it and put anyone down to protect her family. Lo’ak stays close to her as he stares at you, looking more worried for you and Spider than he is for himself. You turn your head to look at Neteyam, Spider’s hand still tight over your mouth. Jake holds his son back as Neteyam looks like he’s three seconds from launching out and saving you.
“Hello?” You hear a man on the other side of the metal shout out. “Someone out there?”
Jake places a shushing finger over hip lips as well, the same as Spider did. You shut your eyes completely and hold a hand over Spider’s, not trusting yourself to stay silent. You all hear the crunching of plants beneath the men’s big boots as they scan the area. You truly believe your heart is skipping beats when you hear a boot hit the metal. You look up and can almost see the brim of the man’s hat as he looks out at the forest. Spider’s chest stops moving and you don’t dare move your head to look at anyone else’s reaction.
The man lingers for a while, not knowing that if he just looked down he’d find exactly what he’s looking for.
“It’s clear over here.” He announces before walking away.
You’ve never felt relief like this as you exhale, Spider finally releasing his hold on you. You can practically feel the suspense disintegrate around you as everyone takes a breath.
Suddenly, you hear a thump sound on the other side of the metal. You look over to Neytiri to see that she’s shot an arrow in the opposite direction, catching the crew’s attention.
“Over here!” You hear one of them shout.
Neytiri grabs Lo’ak’s arm and takes the opportunity, making a run for it back toward the trees.
“Let’s go. Let’s go!” Jake whisper shouts. You and Spider scramble to your feet and run behind Lo’ak, Jake letting everyone go in front of him before he gives the crew a last look and follows behind you.
Neytiri leads the way, not stopping until you’re well out of ear shot of the soldiers. You all struggle to catch your breath when you finally take a break, Lo’ak hunching over and placing his hands on his knees as he gasps. You notice Neteyam leaving his fathers side as he makes his way toward you. He threads his arms under yours and practically holds you up while embracing you in a tight hug, glad that you’re all okay.
“What were you thinking?” Jake looks at you as you’re still in Neteyam’s arms. “We almost got caught!”
“I’m sorry.” You almost whisper into his shoulder, “I’m so sorry. I just saw her and-“
Neteyam stops you. “It’s okay. It’s fine.”
“Sorry isn’t gonna cut it, kid.” Jake disagrees. “We could’ve-“
“I told you...” Neytiri shifts her gaze from the ground to her husband.
He shakes his head and looks away, stressed about the entire situation.
“Jake, I told you. She should have never come to the forest. This wasn’t a good idea.”
Jake rests his hands on his hips and looks up to the sky, taking a deep breath. Neytiri walks off, continuing up the trail. Spider and Lo’ak watch empathetically as Jake takes one last look at you before following after her. Neteyam finally lets you go, taking your hand in his and passing both of his brothers as you continue up the trail.
——
“She still does that.” Spider says. He lays on his back, looking up at the forest canopy while you draw mud tattoos on his arms.
“Which one?” You ask, referring to the habits you remember your mother having.
“The head patting thing. She tried to do it to me and almost got bit.”
You both laugh, his body vibration almost messing up the brown designs you’ve sketched on his arm. He looks down to see the spirals, dots, and arches spanning from his wrist all the way up onto his shoulder.
“These are so sick!” He sits up, turning his arms to get a better look. “I should get these really tattooed.”
You scoff and shake your head, “Only the Metikayina Olo’eyktan can get these tattooed.”
“Oh.” He sighs, disappointed. He continues admiring his tattoos sketched with dirt while you examine his pre-existing blue tattoos.
“Who gave you these?” You run your hand over the ones on his rib cage.
“They’re not real tattoos.” He reveals. “They’re Spartan plant dye. Jake said I can’t make them permanent until I’m older.”
You stare at them, an idea coming to you like a light bulb going off.
“Kiri has tattoos.” You tell him.
“Really?”
“Yes.” You nod. “Small ones. She sharpens her stones to make the dye penetrate her skin. I’m sure she’d give one to you, if you’d like.”
Spider eagerly agrees, jumping to his feet. You wipe the mud off of his arm before you two head over to the cave basin where Kiri spends most of her time.
You giddily discuss what he’s going to get when you notice Neteyam watching you from the ground as he begins a fire for this afternoon.
“We’re going to get a tattoo.” You tell him, your voice low. “Do you want to come?”
Neteyam stares up at you, not seeming amused.
“You guys could get in trouble. Spider knows that.”
“We’re just going over these.” You trace a blue mark on his arm, “No one will even notice.”
Your smile quickly falters when Neteyam blankly ogles at you. He seems angry, kind of annoyed. Spider seems to notice.
“Bro, are you okay?” He asks.
Neteyam gives up on his fire and stands, an attitude strong in his tone.
“I’m fine.” He mumbles, walking past both of you.
You both watch him go before looking at each other, not fully understanding what just happened. His demeanor is harder to brush off this time, but you manage to forget about it by the time you make it to Kiri.
“What? No! I could get in serious trouble if dad ever finds out.” Kiri rejects you.
“But Kiri, we wouldn’t tell anyone.”
“Yea, it wouldn’t even be noticeable.” Spider backs you up. “Come on. Please.” He begs, softening his eyes for her.
Kiri deadpans at him, not fazed. She wasn’t breaking.
——
No longer having the idea of a tattoo to entertain you, you and Spider had found another way to keep yourselves busy. Even Lo’ak and Kiri joined in in giving you a full tour of the cave system that is Mons Veritatis. They showed you everything from where the ikrans resided to the inside of High Camp. The mountain range is so boundless that the sun was falling by the time you got back to your respective caverns.
You share one with Kiri, but she’s rarely there with you, always out with Spider or exploring the forest alone. You sit criss cross as you weave a basket to pass time. You can’t help smiling to yourself as the memories of your outing replay through your mind. The only thing that could’ve made it any better was if the last brother joined you. But Neteyam was nowhere to be found for the whole afternoon.
“She doesn’t even seem to notice.” You hear a familiar voice. You stop what you’re doing to listen closer, thinking maybe you’re hearing things.
“It’s like I can never do enough.”
You’re sure you hear it this time, Neteyam. You abandon your basket and creep out of the hollow, circling around to the fluorescent forest behind it. You can just barely see Neteyam and Lo’ak in an opening before you duck behind a tall bush, feeling wrong to interrupt the moment between the brothers.
“Okay, but Alya’s like - new to this, you know?” Lo’ak tells Neteyam as he thoughtlessly tosses a stone up and down. “She’s never had a group of friends like this before.”
“But she’s different, brother.” Neteyam insists, seeming much more invested in this conversation than his brother. “The way I think about her is making me change. I shouldn't feel the way I feel when I see her with him."
“It’s probably harmless.” Lo’ak reasons. “She just wants to learn about her mom. He’s really the only one she can go to for that.”
Neteyam huffs. “It makes me angry.”
His brother playfully pats him on the back, not taking this situation seriously. “You know how girls are, man. You’ll get over it.”
He shakes his head, shoving Lo’ak’s hand away.“You don’t understand.“
“This is how it always goes, okay? At least your girl isn’t a days ride away-“
“Oe tíyawn peyä. (I love her).” Neteyam admits.
You’re almost frozen in your spot, never expecting that to come out of his mouth. Sure, you and Neteyam had a thing, but you never thought that he saw the two of you the way he does.
Lo’ak finally looks at his brother, the words clearly catching his attention as well. His ears are now perked inquisitively.
“For real?” He asks.
Neteyam lowers his head, obviously not happy about the fact. He looks away in a way that scarily resembles his father.
“And I don’t think she loves me.”
Oe tíyawn peyä. Oe tíyawn peyä. And I don’t think she loves me.
Neteyam’s words play over and over in your head as you stare at the swirled designs on the ceiling of the wide cave. Kiri has come back by now and the sun is gone, the Sully family being fast asleep.
You convince yourself that the ambience of Kiri sharpening her glowing crystals is what keeps you up, but you know that isn’t true. You look over to her as she quietly works in the corner, seemingly lost in her own world.
“Neteyam said he loves me.” You softly tell her, almost inaudible.
She looks up to you, her ears mimicking Lo’ak’s when he first heard it.
“What?” She puts her stones down, “Really?”
You nod, flipping onto your stomach to face her. A smile grows on her face as she lays on her stomach as well, propping her head up on her hands.
“What did you say?”
“I overheard him. He was telling Lo’ak in the forest.” You explain.
“Well do you love him back?” She indulges, much more giddy about this than you are.
You look down, still asking yourself that.
“I don’t know.” You shrug, “I don’t think so. I didn’t even know he liked me that much.”
She tilts her head as she feels for you, softly taking one of your hands in hers.
“Eywa will guide you.” She assures, “What is meant to happen, she will make happen. I know it. I feel her every day.”
You half nod as she rubs her finger over the back of your hand. She gives it a soft squeeze, something Tsireya did often. She reminds you so much of Tsireya.
“Neteyam is a good man, Alya.” She whispers.
——
You walk along side Lo’ak while squeezing the juice out of a Yovu fruit. Tonight is the last day that Spider’s dad gave him to convince Jake to surrender. Tension is growing as you all wait for him to tell everyone his plan. In the meantime, you and Lo’ak roam the mountain range while discussing meaningless topics and eating Yovu fruit.
You pass by Neytiri, Jake, and Tuk as they put out the fire from earlier this morning. Tuk sees the purple fruit in your hand and quickly rises to her feet.
“Can I have some!”
“No.” Lo’ak answers for you, continuing to walk.
You roll your eyes at him, breaking off a piece and handing it to his sister. She smiles wide, shoving it in her mouth.
“What do you say, Tuk?” Neytiri asks.
“Irayo! (Thank you!)” She says, her mouth full.
You pat her shoulder before returning to Lo’ak.
“You’re mean.” You kid, resuming your walk.
“Yea well, she’ll never stop asking you for stuff now.” He shrugs. You scoff and shake your head. You’d give everything to Tuk if she asked for it.
The two of you keep talking and wandering the mountain forests when you stumble upon an overgrown path. You think nothing of it until you notice a figure in your peripheral. You nearly jump out of your skin, Lo’ak jumping even harder.
“Dude!” He clutches his chest, looking into the trail to see his brother. “Don’t do that.”
You look at Neteyam. He looks so…blank. If you didn’t know any better you’d say his aura darkened. His radiant smile hasn’t shown up since the ikran ride here and he doesn’t seem to laugh anymore. And you can’t help but think you have something to do with it.
“Can we talk?” He asks you, ignoring his brother.
You softly nod at him, Lo’ak taking the fruit from your hands before softly shoving you toward Neteyam. You look back at him, rolling your eyes before following Neteyam further up the trail.
He walks deep into the greenery until you can barely see the sun above the canopy. He finally turns to you, looking more nervous than you’ve ever seen him.
“My brother told me to tell you how I feel, so I’m just going to say it.” He holds eye contact; something he does often, but in this context, it makes your nerves spiral.
You nod, twisting the end of your braid, a nervous tell. You had an idea of what he might say. The 3 words that followed you even in your dreams last night. Yet, you still don’t know what to respond to them.
“Ri’Alya, I love you.” He flat out says. You stand there like a viperwolf in headlights, about to blurt out some words but he keeps talking. “And in loving you, I realized I’ve made a mistake.”
You dryly laugh, not knowing how to take what he’s saying.
“What mistake? What are you-“
“Your mother.” He cuts you off. “Yesterday at the site it hit me how much danger you were in. It was only by the works of Eywa that we made it out, but we can’t let that happen again.”
You scrunch your face up, completely lost now. You didn’t expect this conversation to go this way at all.
“It won’t…” You say, eyeing him. “Your dad made sure of it. I put us in danger, I know that. But it won’t happen again.”
He shakes his head, “You’re not understanding.”
“Understanding what?” You ask, genuinely confused.
“Ri’Alya, I think you should give up.” He blurts out. You stare at him, still not getting it. “On Aìsik. Continuing to search for her could end horribly for you. I see that now.”
You shake your head, taking a step back from him.
“You helped me come here.” You remind him, your voice now defensive. “You told me it was a good idea.”
“I said I’d help you, not that it was a good idea.” He sighs, “I realize how unsafe it is now.”
“Neteyam, where is this coming from?” You feel a sense of betrayal and embarrassment growing in your stomach.
“It made itself clear in the forest, Ri’Alya. You’ll get yourself killed going after her.” He tries to reason. “The best thing you can do is take the next opportunity to fly home…”
‘I shouldn’t feel the way I feel when I see her with him.’
“…Is this about Spider?” You ask, recalling the conversation you heard last night.
Neteyam’s gaze quickly switches from compassionate to defensive, just like yours.
“What?”
“Spider.” You reiterate. “Are you upset because I’m spending time with him? I just want to learn about my mother, okay? If it’s-“
“This isn’t about Spider. This is about keeping you safe.”
“You don’t know what it’s like to be in my position, Neteyam.” You raise your voice, “Spider is helping me.”
“I was helping you.” He urges, getting more frustrated. “I got you here. I defend you against my dad. I beg my mother to treat you kindly. And you believe Spider is helping you? After what I’ve sacrificed?”
You scoff, “Yes, Neteyam. And I thank you for that, all of it. But just because you’ve provided for me doesn’t mean I owe you in every aspect of my life.” He looks away from you, shaking his head as if you’re a child who won’t listen. “He’s the only one who knows about Aìsik-“
“You go to everyone but me!” He snaps, raising his voice loud enough to make you flinch but never in an angry shout. “Lo’ak, Kiri, Spider. You say they ‘help’ you when I’m right here! I’ve always been right here and you still choose them! Every time!” He rants, his eyes glossy.
“I choose them?” You challenge, “Neteyam, you’re all my friends. I wouldn’t-“
“Friends.” He nods in disbelief, pacing back and forth.
“Yes, friends.” You say, watching him try to compose himself. “Is that so hard to believe.”
He stops in front of you, closer now.
“You aren’t just friends with any of us, Ri’Alya.” He looks down at you, “But you can’t seem to choose one that you want. Instead you have to lead us on this-“
“You sound crazy, Neteyam.” You whisper.
“Oe ke lekye’ung. Oe tìsraw si. (I’m not crazy. I’m hurt).”
You stare at him defiantly, not even knowing what to make of the situation. You open your mouth to respond, but you don’t get the chance. You both turn around when you hear Jake shout for everybody to join them and that they’re briefing you on the plans. Neteyam gives you one more look, one that you would’ve never expected from him, before passing you.
You follow far behind him, not having enough time to yourself to process before you make it to the family. They’re all sitting down around the now burnt out fire. Lo’ak looks up at you, seeming to notice the tension between you and Neteyam. You’re sure it’s apparent on your faces.
You walk over and take a seat on the log between Lo’ak and Kiri, opposite of Neteyam who sits next to his mother.
“Everything good?” Lo’ak lowly asks you.
You just stare at the ground in front of you, not trusting yourself to not burst into tears if you talk about it right now. Jake begins telling the group what he plans to do as you try your hardest to listen.
He suggests revealing himself to the RDA, Spider by his side. He says it will lure them out while the rest of you silently take out the crew in the ships one by one.
“We get to go?” Kiri asks.
“This one time.”
A wide smile grows on Lo’ak and Spider’s faces.
“I’m trusting you with this, okay?” Jake explains, “Don’t make me regret it.”
“Yes!” Lo’ak exclaims, reaching across you and Kiri to dap Spider up.
“Listen.” Neytiri scolds.
“There should only be two other crews in the ship. If we do it right, we-“
“No, it’ll be more than that.” Spider cuts in. “Two ships with over 20 men are going to be here by nightfall. We wouldn’t stand a chance against all of them.” He refers to the two ‘stars’ that you and Lo’ak saw 5 nights ago
Lo’ak looks from Spider to his father.
“We can ask The People to fight with us.”
“No.” Neytiri quickly shuts him down, shaking her head. “I won’t let them fight for us. Not again. Not after what they’ve lost.”
“She’s right.” Jake nods. “It’s our fight. That’s why we left Awa’atlu in the first place, to keep everyone else out of this.”
The 7 of you continue brainstorming, Tuk drifting in and out of sleep, bored to death. Eventually, Jake comes up with something solid. He suggests leading the RDA into the oceans.
“It’s safer that way. We know those waters. They don’t.” He says.
You’ll lead them toward the behemoth waters, a section of Pandoran oceans that are infested with Akula’s and Nalutsa’s. Jake plans to use the sea life to do half of the work for you. With shark like animals chomping into ships and underwater volcanoes heating the water, the amount of fighting you’ll have to do is drastically decreased.
“If all else fails we still have the woman.” Jake shrugs.
You immediately look up, hoping he isn’t saying what you think he is. Lo’ak, Kiri, and Spider seem to notice as well as they catch glances at you, trying to keep it oblivious to their father.
“We saw how much they value her.” Jake resumes. “If it comes down to it, we take her for one of you.”
You now try to avoid eye contact with Jake, knowing that if he sees your face he’ll notice how horrified you are at the words coming out of his mouth. You revert your gaze to Neteyam, but he’s already looking back at you. He’s not just looking, he’s staring. His head tilted down and his newly darkened eyes burning into your soul, not trying to hide it in the slightest. But what he spoke next, you would’ve never expected.
“Are you not going to say anything?” He speaks up, still dead set on you.
Everyone looks at him, following his gaze to you. Your blood runs cold and the hair on the back of your neck stands up, shock coursing through your body.
“What?” You whisper, squirming under their looks.
“You’re just going to let them?” He asks, not an ounce of empathy or remorse in his tone.
“‘Teyam…” Spider warns, eyeing him. Neytiri and Jake look back and forth between the two of you.
“I don’t-“ You scoff, failing miserably at keeping your cool. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Aìsik.” He blatantly states. Your lips slightly part in disbelief. “Ngeyä sa’nok lu peoe lawk. (Your mother is what I’m talking about).”
“Dude!”
“Neteyam!” Kiri and Lo’ak exclaim at the same time, your secret now being out.
Their parents stare at you, confused.
“Sa’nok? (Mother?)” Neytiri repeats.
You can’t answer. Your vision blurs from the tears in your eyes and all audio around you muffles. You see Lo’ak and Kiri defending you, attempting to explain, but you hear none of it. Your gaze is hyper fixated on Neteyam, him staring right back at you.
He seems like an entirely different person from the one you met in Awa’atlu. The Neteyam who would bow when you walked into a room or spend hours in the reefs with you as you rode your ilu’s. The Neteyam who risked his relationship with his parents to help you find your mother.
He just…betrayed you. Like it was that easy.
Oe tíyawn peyä. (I love her).
He can’t love you. This isn’t what love does to someone.
You’re finally snapped out of your trance when you feel Kiri’s arms grab you and pull you to your feet. She begins hurriedly walking you toward Spider and Lo’ak’s cave, further from the chaos than yours and hers. Spider jumps up behind her, disappointedly shaking his head at Neteyam before ushering you away as well.
You can barely speak through your sobs, hiccuping and gasping in an uncontrollable breakdown.
“They’re going to give me up.” You cry, your knees to your chest. “Give me over to the RDA so you guys can go home free.”
Kiri shakes her head, rubbing your back. “They won’t.”
“They wouldn’t do that.” Spider adds. “Jake isn't the type. And everyone else is too scared to do anything without his yes, especially 'Teyam."
“Not Neytiri.” You argue. “She isn’t scared of anything.”
They look at you solemnly, not having a rebuttal to that. Just then, you see someone walk to the entrance of the cave. You put your head down, begging Eywa that Neteyam hasn’t come to terrorize you further.
“He’s gone.” You hear Lo’ak’s voice. You look up, relieved. “He went ikran riding.”
He sits across from you, next to Spider. He looks at you compassionately, his ears down, always the most expressive part of his face.
“I’m sorry he’s being such as asshole.” He tells you. You try to quiet your cries in order to hear him. “He’s just jealous and has a bad way of showing it. He’s never felt this way, you know?”
You look down, not being able to see Neteyam’s side on this one. Spider looks at Lo’ak, puzzled.
“Jealous of what?”
It’s ridiculous how out of the loop he is.
“You…sort of.” Lo’ak shrugs. Spider blankly stares at him, not understanding. “Bro, you’re so behind.”
Lo’ak briefly summarizes the situation thats occurred over the last 4 days. He tells Spider how Neteyam felt about you and how he thinks Spider is threatening that. Spider stands astounded, having no clue that any of this was happening right under his nose.
“So what? He thinks I want his girl?”
Lo’ak sighs, “Basically.”
“And that gives him reason to do what he did?” Kiri asks, reminding them that you’re here.
“I don’t know, man.” Lo’ak huffs, “I’ve never seen him act like that before.
You’re continuing to talk about it more when you, once again, see a head peek into the cave entrance. Only, it isn’t Neteyam.
The 4 of you fall silent as Jake enters, looking at you. You quickly wipe your tears and attempt to control your breathing, wanting to seem more composed than you truly are.
“Everybody out.” He demands.
You all get up without hesitation, Kiri holding your hand as you head out. But Jake stops you, placing a hand on your shoulder.
“Not you.” He says. You stop, Kiri looking back and flashing you a reassuring smile before walking out.
Your nerves only grow worse when you take your seat, Jake sitting where Lo’ak just was. You refuse to look at him, keeping your eyes on the rough mountain surface underneath you.
Jake clears his throat, “First off, you don’t have to worry about us giving you up, kid. We wouldn’t do that.” He reassures you. “You’re one of us now.”
You nod, your head staying down as you feel a spark of relief.
"But I do need to know everything you know.” He proceeds, “Why you came with us, what you plan to do, whose side you’re on. Stuff like that."
You finally look up to him, not expecting his questions.
“I’m on your side.” You insist, not ever wanting him to think otherwise. “I know who I’m fighting for.”
He nods, “Good.”
“I came because I feel more…accepted, here.” You admit, slightly embarrassed. “I feel like a part of a real family. I don’t know what I plan to do. I just want to see her. Just once.”
“And if you see her tonight?” He interrogates, referring to the fight. “Why should I even let you come? How do I know you won’t freeze up when you see her?”
You shake your head, sniffling.
“I won’t.” You swear. “I promise. I learned the first time.”
He looks at you warily. “If you ever doubt that, you need to go back home.” He asserts.
You nod, oddly appreciating how he’s talking to you like a person rather than a confused little girl. It’s such a vast difference from what you experienced back home.
“And Alya.” He calls you, leaning in. You look up at him. “You don’t have to worry about Neteyam pulling something like that ever again.”
You flash a smile, having satisfaction in knowing that he got told off. You’re really beginning to feel like you mean something to them. Like you’re family.
“Now, lighten up.” He taps your shoulder, standing. “We leave at sundown.”
He makes his way to the exit, looking back at you one more time.
“No bad blood.”
You smile widely for the first time since yours and Neteyam’s argument.
“No bad blood.”
He grins at you before turning to leave. But he stops, his back facing you.
“Neytiri.” You hear him acknowledge.
Your nerves quickly work up again. You quietly sigh, feeling like you can’t catch a break today.
“Leave us.” She tells him.
“Be nice.” He says before slowly moving out of the way, allowing her to enter.
She sits down where he was, staring at you, your smile now faded.
“Leave us, Jake.” She calls out. He rolls his eyes, really leaving the two of you alone this time.
You fiddle with your fingers, feeling intimidated as you sit alone with her. She looks almost as uncomfortable as you, seemingly not knowing how to go about this.
“I knew Aìsik.” She begins. “She was like a sister. A mentor, maybe.”
“Mentor?” You ask, your voice just above a whisper.
“Like a karyu. (Teacher).”
You nod, realizing what she means. She continues her story.
“The Metikayina were guests here when she met with your father, falling pregnant with you.” She explains. “My mother began to resent her. She was childbearing with a reef man and outside of a tsaheylu. (Bond). The older you got the worse my mother treated her, never forgiving her for the shame she brought upon The People.”
You look down, not enjoying hearing this side of your mother’s life. It sounded like you were the reason her life was so hard. The reason she was outcasted.
“My sister, Sylwawin, helped her leave Hometree when you were four. You two lived in Awa’atlu with your father, happier than you ever could have been here. But by then, Tonowari had already been promised to Ronal. She lived loving a man who was promised to another, but it was a better life for you there. It was perfect before her spe’e. (Capture).”
“The net got her.” You finish her sentence, knowing how the story went.
“The net got her.” She agrees. You keep your head down, feeling like your birth alone lead to her captivity. If she didn’t have you, she wouldn’t have been in Awa’atlu nor would she have been in the reefs when the sky people arrived.
Neytiri takes notice of how you feel. She lightly hisses to herself, not intending to come in here and make you feel worse.
“I see her in you.” She rests a hand on your shoulder. “In everything you do, you do it just like your mother. It’s beautiful.”
She moves her hand up and over one of your braids, pulling it in front of your shoulder. You look at her as she admires it.
“You mean a lot to my children, Ri’Alya.” She says. You avoid eye contact once again, not knowing how she felt about that. “Please don’t hurt them.”
With that, she stands up and walks out. You sit there, feeling all of the emotions of the last two hours finally hitting you.
Peu nìyey lìmen? (What just happened?)
The second rumble vibrates the ground, signaling the last ship has landed as all of you prepare for noble war. Your faces are brightly painted, curtesy of Neytiri and Kiri. Everyone picks their weapons from a pile. Jake choosing guns and knives, Neytiri choosing a bow, Lo’ak, Spider, and Neteyam choosing knives, and Kiri choosing…nothing.
“You don’t want one?” You ask her, fastening a knife to your waist.
She shakes her head, shrugging. You hum, not wanting to push further. She never seemed like a fighter anyway.
“Alright,” Jake’s voice rings out over the excited chatter of you all. “Let’s move.”
You all follow suit as he leads the way up the trail toward the ikrans. Neteyam stays in the back of the group, not having spoken a word to anyone since he came back from his ride. You most definitely aren’t going to be the one to try to talk to him, as you’re sure Jake did that for you. You and Kiri walk behind Spider and Lo’ak, who are buzzing with enthusiasm, practically jumping up and down.
You split the time in half as you walk up the trail, making it to the animals in 5 minutes rather than 10. You can’t shake the pit in your stomach of the pure adrenaline of your first fight. Everyone begins mounting their ikrans when you realize that you’re meant to be riding with Neteyam. You stop, uncomfortably looking at Kiri for help.
“Here.” She says, shoving Spider off of hers.
“Hey!”
“You ride with him.” She points to Neteyam. Spider is about to argue back before Kiri gestures to you, making him understand. He trudges over to a stone faced Neteyam before joining him, allowing you to ride with Kiri.
“Irayo. (Thanks).”
“Of course.” She smiles as you wrap your arms around her waist.
The 7 of you glide over the water, Jake looking closely to find the huge akulas under the surface.
“There.” He points.
You all look to see four giant animals slithering through the sea. Following orders, you begin circling the area, flying one behind another in a continuous loop.
The Hallelujah Mountains were only safe because human location instruments couldn’t see past the magnetic fields. But here, out in the open, their radars will be alerting them like crazy.
And that’s what you want. To lure them out.
You ride in a ring for a few more minutes before you see far boats riding toward you. There are at least four smaller ones and one ship that is bigger than anything you’ve ever seen. You try to ignore the fear striking in your heart as they steam toward you.
Jake doesn’t even get a chance to acknowledge them when you hear distant war cries, sounding all too familiar. You all look across the sea to see hundreds of Na’vi riding toward you, weapons waving in the air.
“What the-“ Jake squints, looking closer.
Your heart drops when you realize who it is. The ilu’s, skimwings, and the war cries couldn’t be mistaken. And the man at the forefront is unforgettable.
Metikayina.
Your father and village ride fearlessly toward the behemoth waters, heading for the ships that are getting continuously closer.
Jake grunts to himself, this being exactly what he didn’t want to happen.
“Wait here.” He says, instructing his ikran down to go talk to your father.
You all watch as he hovers above the still riding Olo’eyktan, refusing to stop his army to talk to Jake. Every second that they’re talking the two militaries get closer to each other, and Jake doesn’t see them coming.
“Hawl ngeyä säpi. (Prepare yourselves).” Neytiri lowly says, taking her bow from around her chest.
“What about dad?” Lo’ak asks, nervously looking at her.
She checks down to Jake, seeing him still focused on talking to your dad. She shakes her head.
“He doesn’t see them coming.” She directs her ikran downward. “Come.”
You all follow her, you and Kiri riding beside Lo’ak and Neteyam.
Neytiri rides so close to the water that you think she’ll fall in. She tilts her banshee (ikran) to the side before letting her bow splash the water. She’s attracting the sea animals. You don’t see the reason in it, as all of the commotion from the Metikayina surely got their attention.
“Jake!” She shouts over to him.
He finally turns around, his eyes widening at how close the boats are. He says one last thing to Tonowari before heading over to you all. You stop splashing the water and give him your full attention.
“Why are they here, dad?” Kiri asks, worried.
“The sky people killed Ronal’s spirit sister.” He explains, out of breath. “Just left her and the baby there, dead in the water. He refuses to turn around, says even women and children came to fight.”
You take notice, looking past Jake’s shoulder to see.
“Tsireya?” You curiously search for her.
Jake nods, confirming your worst fear. She could not be out here.
You tap Kiri’s shoulder, about to ask her to fly over to your sister, but you’re interrupted. The entire sea shakes, causing the Metikayina to stop in their tracks. You all look to the source to see two huge akulas smashing into one of the small boats running in front of the huge ship.
You hear shouts from the crew as their boat begins to sink. Before anyone can think, a similar boat emerges from behind that one, but this one has something on it. Planted front and center of the boat is a military machine gun, aimed right at you.
"Tsa'u lu alo. (It is time)." Neytiri mumbles, looking out at the ship. She turns toward the Metikayina, raising her bow in the air. "Tsa'u lu alo!"
They all follow orders as if she’s their tsahìk, storming forward on their animals as they let out chilling war cries.
“Okay,” Jake turns toward all of you, shouting over the yelps. “Kiri, Spider, take the bottom of the ship. Find control panels, cut off the power. Once the lights are down you go up to the engine room and shut it off." He instructs.
Jake looks down in the water to see a fierce looking Metikayinan boy passing you.
"Hey!” He calls out, catching his attention. “You, go with them."
The boy obliges without question, helping Kiri and Spider onto his ilu before riding toward the central ship. Jake redirects his attention to the rest of you.
“Neteyam, go with her.” He points to Neytiri. “You go above, take them out from the sky, got it?”
You look at Neteyam but quickly lower your head when he looks back at you. He looks away and half nods, following Neytiri as she rotates vertically, twisting as she spirals into the sky.
Only you, Lo’ak, and Jake are left. He looks at both of you.
“We go onto the ship.” He orders. You give Lo’ak a nervous look, him returning the exact same one before you both trail behind Jake.
You’re 25 meters out from the main ship when Jake points down to two abandoned ilu’s, signaling for you to get on. You hesistate, waiting for Lo’ak to jump off of his still moving ikran and onto the ilu in the water. You see how proud of himself he is as he rides it smoothly, coming far from his first lesson. You follow soon after him as Jake hops onto a stray skimwing, the animal casting a dark shadow in the water in front of you.
You flinch as bullets fly past your head, the soldiers aiming at Jake. The skimwing immediately obeys Jakes direction as they disappear below the water, camouflaged in the thrash of it all. You and Lo’ak copy him, moving much faster toward the ship underwater.
You finally make it to the side of the boat, the walls spanning up to what seems like the sky. Jake rides alongside it until he sees a metal ladder that runs onto the deck. You all abandon your sea creatures, quietly pulling yourself up the 20 meter perimeter.
You’ve barely made it on board when you see Jake running toward something. You pull yourself over to see him taking on three sky people with guns. He holds a hand over one’s mouth before pulling out his knife, taking him out quietly. The remaining two men look at him in fear, one holding their rifle while the other pulls out his radio.
“Subject spotted-“
Jake shoves the gun back in the first man’s face before turning it around and loading his body with bullets. He pistol whips the man on the walkie before he can finish his report, blasting him in the chest.
You and Lo’ak look on in shock, not prepared for seeing such a fight so early on. Jake waves his hand, gesturing for you to follow him.
You all stay low as you tip toe into the interior of the ship, staying as quiet as you can on the metal floors. You walk into an open room, a wall full of weapons on your sides. A second opening with a bright green ‘ENTER,’ sign lays under a set of metal stairs. Jake is about to start taking artillery when you hear the unmistakeable sound of combat boots hitting the floor.
Jake automatically jumps above the door, pulling and perching himself on the stairs above. Lo’ak shoves you to the side of the door before he stands opposite of you, your backs touching the wall to stay hidden from anyone who enters. He tightly grips his curved knife to his chest as you try to control your breathing, not wanting to reveal your spot.
The heavy footsteps get closer, the chatter of men growing louder. You wait until you hear them right beside you before stepping your foot in the doorway, causing five oxygen masked men to trip over themselves.
Lo’ak takes the opportunity, grabbing the first man in a headlock before swiftly slitting his throat, watching him drop to the floor. Forcing yourself to let go of the nerves, you take action. You rip the mask off of another man , easily overpowering them as you’re an easy two feet taller than the tallest man on the crew. The rest of the three men realize their circumstances, quickly standing to their feet and raising their guns at you and Lo’ak.
“Get back! Get back, now!” A rough voiced man demands.
You both oblige, holding your hands up in surrender as they get closer to you. You back up further and further, luring them out of the doorway. The second they emerge, Jake drops down from his hiding spot, grabbing a man’s head in his hands and flipping him over. He lays four punches on him, easily knocking him out before turning and slashing the chests of both of the remaining men.
Lo’ak cockily smiles, excited to finally be a part of the fight. You try to hide your grin, liking the team the three of you make. Jake quickly grabs a grenade and ammunition off of the walls before returning to the doorway, continuing through the ship.
You take a set of secluded stairs below deck, immediately leading to a room that’s full of monitors of the ship cameras. Each monitor in the room is overrun with Metikayinan soldiers taking out the RDA. Jake stops you and Lo’ak from walking any closer as he gestures infront of him. A single human sits on a stool as he overlooks the cameras, completely oblivious to the three of you behind him. You two get the memo as Jake leads the way, tip toeing behind the man in attempts to silently get into the other room. You watch your steps carefully, almost to the door when you hear a thud. You look down to see that Lo’ak has tripped over a body that’s lying on the floor.
“Shit.” You hear Jake whisper, momentarily closing his eyes in disappointment.
Jake jumps into action, practically throwing you and Lo’ak into a corner as the man turns around. Jake can’t stop him before he hits a red button, triggering a simulated woman’s voice ringing throughout the ship.
‘Security Breach, please follow protocol.’ The voice repeats over and over.
The man pulls a small handgun from his waistband, clearly not equipped for battle. Thinking quickly and not being close enough to harm him, Jake picks up the body that Lo’ak tripped over. He holds it in front of him, shielding himself as the bullets lodge into it. The man frustratedly shouts, frantically pulling the trigger as Jake and his human shield get closer to him. Jake just barely reaches him when the man’s gun clicks. A look of pure horror flashes on his face as he looks at his gun like it’s betrayed him.
Jake shows no mercy as he throws the body down and strikes the man square in the face, bursting a hole in his mask. Jake rips it off from the inside, sending the man collapsing to the floor and grasping at his throat, taking shallow gasps of air.
You and Lo’ak can’t look away, but Jake doesn’t even give it a second thought. He leaves the man dying out slowly before picking both of you up by the arm, shoving you forward.
He drags you back above deck, presumably not finding what he was looking for. It’s now that you realize that the dead body could’ve only been the result of two people.
Where are Kiri and Spider?
You look out at the vast room and immediately realize that this must be one of the main rooms. There’s a circular hole in the middle of the floor leading directly into the water, surrounded by old railing. You take a mental note to stay away from that. An opening entrance lies across the room, the balcony of the ship just outside.
Jake turns Lo’ak around, prepared to scold him for not being careful. But he’s interrupted by a man’s voice and footsteps headed your way. He quickly grabs both of you and retreats behind a control board, ducking low enough to stay hidden.
You see two blue men walk into the room, leaning onto the railing of the pool. They both have shaved heads, 5 fingers, and military equipment covering their bodies. Avatars.
“We’ve already lost three of our damn boats and Jake Sully is somewhere in this ship.” The man says.
You quickly notice him from the picture. Quaritch. The man in love with your mother.
You see movement at an opening on the other side of the room. Peeking into the doorway was a face you didn’t think you’d see again for a long time.
Your father and two siblings silently spy on the Avatars as well, not seeming to notice the three of you hiding. You don’t know whether to smile or cry at the sight of your sister.
You’re just about to alert Jake of their presence when the entire room goes dark. The only light comes from the water pool, the moonlight reflecting in it. You realize that this is the workings of Spider and Kiri, they’ve shut the power off.
It falls silent, the two men in the middle no longer in conversation. The sounds of war cries and fighting outside of the boat is overridden by a small metal rolling sound.
“Get down.” Jake whispers, the rolling ball sound continuing.
Quaritch and his right hand man seem to take note of it as well.
“What the-“
“Grenade!”
He can barely get the word out before the room booms with red and black ashes. You lower your head, covering your ears in a desperate attempt to get rid of the ringing. You squint, your vision cloudy as you see Jake bum rush toward Quaritch. He seems completely unaffected by the explosive as he grabs the Colonel around his waist, slamming him to the floor. You and Lo’ak come from behind the control panel, your senses still not fully back.
Quaritch has kicked Jake off of him, both of them now taking on a defensive position as they bear their teeth at each other. Lo’ak doesn’t hesitate to run to his dad’s side, intent on helping him fight.
“No!” He pushes Lo’ak’s chest, not taking his eyes off of Quaritch.
Lo’ak is torn, not wanting to leave his dad in this fight alone. Knowing better, you don’t bother to watch as you grab Lo’ak’s hand and run across the room, finally reuniting with your family. Tsireya gets no warning before you crash into a hug, squeezing her tighter than you ever have before. She doesn’t have to see your face to recognize who it is, hugging you back. Your father’s hand rubs your back, smiling down at his daughters. Ao’nung just watches, immaturely eyeing Lo’ak.
“Tìng mikyun. (Listen).” Your dad lowly speaks up, sure not to alert Quaritch . You release Tsireya, giving her a warm smile before looking to your father. “I need you off of the ship, immediately.” He gestures to you, Tsireya, and Lo’ak.
“What about you?” Your sister asks.
He shakes his head, “Ao’nung and I have to get the stolen Amrita. We can’t leave it in the possessions of the tawtute. (Sky People).”
Your dad points to the balcony opening at the front of the ship.
“Go that way. You climb down the ladder and take an ilu back home.”
“But dad-“
“Oë ke perawm, Ri’Alya. (I’m not asking, Ri’Alya).”
You lower your head and nod, knowing better than to challenge him. He leans down, pressing a kiss into yours and Tsireya’s temples.
“Go, quickly.” He sends you off.
Tsireya locks hands with Lo’ak, following you as you walk around Jake and Quaritch in a vicious fight. You stay as far away from the tussle as you can before making it to the platform.
It’s now that you see the reality of the situation. Avatars, sky people, and Na’vi alike battle to the death all throughout, staining the water blood red. There isn’t much time to observe before you spot the ladder hooked on the right side of the terrace. You run over and unravel it. You’re seconds away from climbing down when you briefly look to your left.
You double take, spotting a blue woman in traditional wear looking out at the turmoil in the sea. You’re frozen, recognizing the braids anywhere.
“Alya?” Reya asks. Her and Lo’ak follow your gaze, realizing what’s stopped you.
She shakes your shoulder, knowing that she has to snap you out of it. “Alya!”
Aìsik suddenly looks to her right, locking eyes with you. You feel paralyzed, entranced at the sight of her. Her gaze lingers, turning her entire body toward you now.
Your mother looks majestic as the shouting and fighting around you seems to come to a quiet when you look at her.
“Ri’Alya?” She squints at you.
You almost melt when you hear her voice, the sound being a distant memory for all these years. You already feel tears begin to prickle your eyes.
“Mother?” Your voice shakes.
Her ears lower, the same as yours when you feel relief of some sort.
You can’t stop yourself from walking forward, her doing the same. Tears blur your vision as you anticipate the feeling of her arms around you.
You’re less than 5 feet away from where you’ve always wanted to be when you’re abruptly stopped. You feel an arm wrap around your neck, pulling you into a headlock. The cold feeling of a pistol to your temple follows shortly thereafter.
“Well isn’t this a nice family reunion?” You hear. You recognize the voice as Quaritch’s partner from the pool room. Wainfleet, Spider said his name was.
“Let her go!” You hear your sister shout.
“Lyle,” Your mother holds her hands up in attempts to calm him down. “That’s my daughter.”
He laughs, the rumble of his chest sending shivers down your spine.
“You don’t think I know that?” He scoffs. “You don’t think I know that we took you from your little baby all those years ago?”
His Southern-American accent makes it difficult for you to keep up with what he’s saying, but the increasing pressure on your head says enough. Your mother shakes her head, her mouth agape.
“You’ll never be one of us.” He spits, his comical tone now gone. “You’re only still around because Colonel’s pussy whipped. The minute he gets over your pretty face, ain’t no way you’ll be here for long.”
Aìsik stares at him, a gaze you’ve only seen when Neytiri protected Lo’ak that day in the forest. A mother’s rage.
Wainfleet continues, taking the gun from your head and pointing it back to Lo’ak.
“But little Sully won’t let me do anything to her, ain’t that right?”
Lo’ak hisses at him, baring his teeth as he shields Tsireya.
 Lyle chuckles. “That’s right.”
He turns back around, about to press the gun back to your skull when you suddenly feel him ripped from behind you.
You scramble to your mother, wrapping your arms around her waist before looking back at the man. There, you see Jake finishing the job, throwing him overboard and into the water. He looks back up at you, his face more beat up than it was before his face off with Quaritch.
“What did I tell you, kid?” He looks at you, out of breath.
“Jake, I-“
“I said don’t freeze.”
Aìsik’s arms cradle your head while she stares up at the scene in front of her.
“Jake?” She asks, “Jake Sully? This is the Toruk Makto?”
He looks at the unfamiliar woman, half shrugging. “Not really anymore, no.”
She looks at him in awe, her eyes wide. You want to go check on Tsireya when your view is blocked. Neytiri has come down from the sky and stands by Jake’s side, letting Aìsik know that he’s mated. And behind Neytiri stands Neteyam, his face paint making him look more aggressive than you’ve ever seen him.
“Neytiri?” Her hold on you loosens as she’s astonished once again.
“Nga lu werem fpikemwiä pa’o. (You’re fighting for the wrong side).” She says, not fazed at all from seeing Aìsik for the first time.
“I-“ She shakes her head, grasping who she’s seeing. “I’m not fighting at all, Neytiri. I had no choice but to come.”
Neytiri opens her mouth to respond but stops herself, looking slightly to the left of you.
“Spider, no!” Jake shouts.
But it’s too late. She sharply hisses and releases you to reveal Spider and Kiri standing behind her, a wooden knife lodged into her spine. You gasp, covering your mouth with both hands. Spider has a spite in his eyes, believing that he just saved you. But when he looks at the woman he’s just stabbed and realizes who it is, his expression completely changes.
Your mother reaches for the knife. You walk behind her, cringing as you pull the squelching blade out of her back and hand it to her. She readjusts herself.
"Snumina 'evan. (Stupid boy)." She hisses. Everyone stares at the scene in disbelief just as she raises the bloody knife, prepared to return the favor to the human boy.
“No!” Kiri cries. She instinctively jumps in front of him, ready to take the wound.
“Kiri!” Tsireya calls out to her, horrified.
The knife almost slices Kiri’s chest, but its path is stopped. Neytiri jumps on your mother’s shoulders, sending them both tumbling to the ground. You hide behind Jake while Neytiri throws Aìsik to the other side of the platform guarding Spider and Kiri.
Your mom shakes her head. "Don't do this, tsmuke (sister)."
Neytiri stares at her with fury in her eyes.
“This is my family.” She spits.
Jake keeps his eyes on them as he gathers you, Tsireya, Neteyam, and Lo’ak.
“Go.” He mumbles, pushing you back into the ship.
You quickly follow orders, not wanting to be in the middle of that anyway. You all run into the now ash filled room. It’s only now that you realize the tears streaming down your face. You hold onto the railing and look over into the pool as you try to hold back sobs.
“We should jump.” Tsireya suggests, looking down with you.
“What?” Lo’ak looks at her. “No way.”
“It’s safer for us off of the ship.” She argues.
“What about Kiri and Spider? Or my parents? We can’t-“
“She’s right.” Neteyam speaks up.
You all look at him, not having heard him speak up until this point.
“Mom and dad can take care of themselves. We need to get out of this ship.”
Lo’ak reconsiders, now humming in agreement. You and Tsireya are the first ones to go, standing on the inside of the railing before plunging into the warm water. Lo’ak and Neteyam follow right behind you.
The rough water mixed with the chaos around you, you let your choked sobs out.
“I’m sorry.” You cry to Tsireya, barely staying up in the rocky water. “I’m so sorry for pushing you away and for leaving you and-“
“It’s okay!” She yells over the crashing waves. “I just want you to be safe, Alya. Safe and happy. I promise, nothing you do could hurt me.”  She smiles.
Even in the worst of situations; when your village was at war and your mother and father in a foreign boat, she had a way of making it seem like everything would be alright.
You wrap your arms around her, functioning as one floating unit.
“We need to go.” Neteyam says.
“Dude,” Lo’ak shoves him, “They’re having a moment.”
“No…” He looks out to the water, “We really need to go. Now.”
You all look in the same direction and instantly see what he’s talking about. The shadow of a huge nalutsa under the surface stalks toward you. It takes you no time to begin swimming in the other direction.
You all dip below the water, moving faster under there. Tsireya leads you, grabbing Lo’ak’s hand to move more efficiently. You instinctively do the same, taking hold of Neteyam’s hand and cutting through the water.
It’s only moments later that you realize what you’ve done and quickly release his hand, not daring to look back at him and face the discomfort. You continue behind Lo’ak when you feel Neteyam grab your hand once again.
Oh.
You smile, feeling like a girl with a crush back at Awa’atlu again. But it takes you only a moment to remember that you’re still being actively hunted, and you need to get out of the water. You follow Tsireya’s lead all the way to the other side of the ship, finally surfacing for air.
The four of you gasp, tiring from the energy that staying above water takes. Tsireya searches the side of the ship until she sees the ladder, two Na’vi walking on deck.
“Hey!” Lo’ak yells.
“Hey! Help us!” Neteyam joins in, knowing the nalutsa isn’t far behind.
The two men look down and you recognize who it is. Your father and Ao’nung run over to the ladder, holding a hand out for you to grab. You all climb up, the two of them pulling you up one by one.
“I told you to get away from the ship.” Your father scolds.
All of your hands fall to your knees, hunching over as you cough up water.
“We tried.” Tsireya chokes out.
“We’ll take you off.” He negotiates. “Ronal should be there, she’ll cover-“
He’s interrupted by the sound of bullets whisking by. You all duck, looking down the deck to see a beaten up Quaritch. He runs toward your dad, abandoning his gun in a blind rage.
Your father can only push all of you out of the way before Quaritch body slams him, both of them flying into the water.
“Dad!” Ao’nung shouts, looking overboard.
You hear more combat boots and look over to see a group of soldiers replacing where Quaritch was standing.
“We have to go.” You say, pulling Ao’nung with you as the 5 of you slip into the interior of the ship.
You scan the ruined room, landing on a corner to see none other than Aìsik. She rises to her feet, clearly wounded from her fight with Neytiri. She holds her arms out for you as your friends observe her weakened state. You begin to walk toward her, wanting nothing more than to hug your mother right now.
You hear Tsireya gasp behind you. You look back to see her staring at the back of your leg, her hands covering her mouth. In the span of a second, Ao’nung moves out of the way to reveal three RDA gunman behind him, one with a gun aimed right at you. The world seemingly moves in slow motion as you look down at your thigh. A pen sized hole leaks in your leg.
The minute you look down at it is when it begins to sting. You drop to your knees as your friends scatter, running from the sky people. You weep as you army crawl to your mother, avoiding the gunfire.
She grabs your arms, pulling you into a hidden crevice in the corner of the room. She sits in a straddle, laying your head in her lap. You feel like a child as you wail in pain, holding your leg.
"Shhh, oeyä prrnen. (My baby)." She strokes your hair.
You stare up at her, your lip quivering from the pain.
“Why, mother?” You ask, shaking your head. “Why are they doing this?”
She stares at you sympathetically, not having an answer that justifies any of this.
You look up at the ceiling, "Why can't they stay on earth? Please send them back, great mother." You beg Eywa.
Your mother finally speaks up, so lowly that you can barely hear her over the shooting.
"Oeyä prrnen," she coos, "There is barely an earth to stay on."
You look at her, confused. You can’t tell if it’s the blood loss that’s messing up your comprehension or not.
"That's why they've come back. The earth is on fire. The amrita in the tulkun allows the tawtute (sky people) to live forever."
You gently shut your eyes, knowing the sky people living forever is the worst case scenario. As long as humans live, Pandora will never be free.
“Ma Eywa…” You shake your head.
She presses one more kiss into your forehead before sitting you up. You wince at the dull hole in your leg as she hooks an arm under yours,  helping you stand.
She peeks out from the corner to see Spider now standing next to Neteyam, searching around the area for you. She softly pushes you toward the boys across the room.
“Come with me.” You beg, sniffling.
“I can’t, oeyä ‘ong. (My bloom).” She says, “I have to find the Colonel.”
“Why?” You sigh, exhausted and frustrated. “Why do you even like him?”
She tilts her head, “You wouldn’t understand.”
You huff as she gives you one last kiss on the forehead. You turn away from your mother and begin limping your way across the room, Spider and Neteyam calling your name once they see you.
“Where’s Tsireya?” You scan the room, only seeing the two boys.  “Or Kiri and Lo’ak?”
“They split up after the gunfire.” Neteyam says, cautiously holding his hands out in case you fall.
“Kiri followed Neytiri below deck. She’s looking for your mom.” Spider tells you.
You immediately snap your head around, prepared to warn your mother. But she’s disappeared, presumably looking for Quaritch.
Below deck.
“We have to go.” You say.
You hobble behind them as you enter into a narrow hallway, a stair well sitting at the end of it.
But that’s not the only thing you see.
At the head of the hall, you see a beaten, bruised, and soaked Avatar. He rises from his knees, weakly holding up his rifle with all that’s left in him.
Wainfleet.
The three of you stop in your tracks. Neteyam thinks quickly, slipping back out of the corridor before Lyle ever realized he was there. You and Spider both hold your hands in the air as the gun stays pointed at you.
“Please.” Spider calls out, his voice echoing through the metal hall. “We’re just trying to-“
“I don’t give a shit what you’re trying to do.” He spits, his voice raspy and broken. “I don't care who your daddy is. I don't care how much pity the Colonel takes on you. And I damn sure don't care what that savage bitch has to say about her bastard daughter.”
He trudges toward you. You hear his labored breathing the closer he gets. You and Spider back away slowly, treating him like a rabid animal.
Wainfleet raises his gun properly, prepared to shoot. You’re about to begin begging for mercy when you see someone behind him at the end of the hall. Neteyam’s gotten below deck and snuck up behind Lyle. He silently takes steps closer to him, getting nearer as Wainfleet rambles on.
Suddenly, you all hear a horrified shriek echoing from the floor below. You all look toward the stairway, Lyle finally seeing Neteyam behind him. He acts quickly, pulling the same stunt as his father as he shoves the gun back in the soldier’s face. Lyle now off balance, Neteyam punches his already battered face, causing his back to hit the wall. Neteyam easily wrestles him to the floor, stepping on his chest as he retrieves the gun, pointing it at him.
“Surrender.” Neteyam looks down at the man who can barely keep his eyes open. “Call your men off and this can all be over.”
You all stare as suspense grows. You can hear him wheezing from over here as Neteyam increases the pressure in his chest.
Wainfleet turns his head to the side, coughing up blood before he responds.
“Go to hell you Sully son of a bitch.” He spits, straining to get his words out.
Neteyam shakes his head, knowing what he has to do. He looks up at you and Spider, presumably for confirmation. Spider nods his head. Neteyam looks back down to the soldier disappointedly before spinning the gun around, the barrel now faced toward him. He brings the butt of the gun down on the man’s head, knocking him out instantly.
It’s just then that the 3 of you hear the scream again, coming from below deck. This time, you recognize the scream as your mother’s.
“Let’s go.” Neteyam says, heading toward the stairs.
You and Spider run behind him, careful not to trip over the body in the hall. You walk down the stairs and into another hallway lined with doors. Neteyam turns corners based on where the screams seem to be originating from. The sounds of a scuffle can be heard as you cut the last corner, seeing where the scene is.
Standing in the hallway looking into one room is Tsireya, Lo’ak, and Kiri. You, Neteyam, and Spider jog over to see what they’re staring at.
Your jaw drops when you arrive at the door. There, you see Neytiri standing over a fallen and begging Aìsik, her bow drawn. She just barely looks over her shoulder to see that you’ve arrived.
“Look away.” Neytiri mumbles.
“Please.” You quietly beg. “Please leave her alone. We can figure something out just please don’t-“
“I cannot let her live. She’s a threat.” She says, staring down at your mother.
You continue. “Please. I'm so sorry, for everything I've caused. I'm so sorry, but under Eywa I beg you-"
“Look away!” She shouts.
You only can shake your head, tears blurring your vision. Your mother looks past Neytiri’s frame and locks eyes with you. She gives you one last weak smile.
“ʼìʼawn txur, oeyä ‘ong. (Stay strong, my bloom).” She whispers, bringing you back to the song she always sang to you.
Neytiri takes those as her last words before pulling her arrow back even further, yelling out as she prepares to let it go.
You flinch when feel your sister’s hand grab your shoulder and swiftly spin you around. She pushes you toward the first person she sees.
Neteyam.
He instantly wraps his arms around you, burying your face in his chest. You hear the thud of her arrow piercing and the quiet pleads of your mother cease. The only sound left is your muffled cries in Neteyam’s shoulder.
Jake finally finds you in the hall, but he’s too late. The work is already done. Your chin on Neteyam’s shoulder, you look at Jake as he stares at the scene in front of him. You hear Neytiri behind you as she turns toward him.
“We have to go.” Kiri whispers, her hand rubbing your back.
“I can’t.” Your entire body trembles in Neteyam’s arms.
“We have to.”
You can’t bother to answer her as you squeeze Neteyam as if he’s the only thing keeping you alive. Knowing you can’t stay in this ship, Neteyam hooks his hands under your thighs before picking you up. He backs out of the room,  the rest of the group following behind him.
You refuse to open your eyes, knowing that you’d see Neytiri. Knowing that you’d see your mother’s murderer.
The memory of Payakan crosses your mind. The tulkun who murdered his mother’s murderer.
‘I’d do the same’ You remember Lo’ak saying. You can’t help but wonder if those words still stood true in this situation.
You think a thousand things while simultaneously your mind blanks. You don’t care how loud you’re weeping or how wet you’re getting Neteyam’s shoulder. All you can think of is how much ruin and loss that you’ve experienced in the last few days. And Aìsik’s song keeps playing over and over in your head.
“ʼìʼawn txur, oeyä ‘ong. Tìyawn txa’ sí rey hu ral sí äo Eywa tsunslu nga tsurokx. (Stay strong, my bloom. Love hard and live with meaning and under Eywa will you rest).’
She’d be beyond disappointed by the amount of regrets you’ve accumulated.
You regret not confiding in your sister, the one person from home who truly cared for you the way you did them. You regret leaving Awa’atlu. And it pains you to admit it, but you feel regret about meeting your mother. The small moments of happiness don’t nearly level out the pain and destruction she caused you.
But most of all, you can say without a doubt that you regret meeting the Sullys. Without them, you would’ve never even thought about leaving home. You would’ve never gotten the false hope of having a family who could protect you from the cruelty of the world. You idolized the family as if they were above Eywa, looked to them to solve all of your issues.
But no one could do that. No one could fix the void that’s slowly formed in you. And until the moment Eywa decides she’s finally had enough, it would always be open.
And it would always have one central benefactor.
Tawtute.

Goodbye
Sully family x human daughter reader
Tumblr media
The sully family and omaticaya clan had to flee their homes after, the return of the RDA and those who they thought were dead fifteen years ago. Not everyone could come with them as they were fleeing to places on pandora that were not, that welcoming of humans. Leading Jake to make a choice that weighed heavy on his heart, and that brought much conflict and upset as well. The omaticaya had to say goodbye to their human clan members, and hope to be reunited with them later on. Saying goodbye was very hard for everyone no matter who they are.
Your world had stopped after hearing these said words come out for your father mouth, that the whole family not the whole family but whole clan were leaving as it was not longer safe for them. As the RDA was not hunting for them and Quaritch and his team were now in na'vi bodies. The whole clan had gather for the meeting to hear the decision that Jake and mo'at had made early today.
Y/n " so when do we have to be packed and ready to head out" you looked at your father hoping to hear some good news, everyone was looking at you and Jake.
Jake " we will leave in a couple days my daughter"
Norm " Jake what else are your not telling us" norm could tell Jake was hiding something from everyone else, even mo'at couldn't look her granddaughter in the eye.
Y/n " grandmother what is wrong" you had went to comfort your grandmother as it seemed like she was about to cry.
Jake " I and mo'at had talked about this for hours and with a heavy heart I have to say that not all of clan can come with us" soon there were gasped heard, as everyone was looking at Jake for clarification.
neteyam " dad what do you mean half of the clan can't come with us" neteyam looked at his father hoping he had misheard what Jake had said, everyone was hoping they misheard what Jake had said to them.
Jake " I'm speaking the truth not everyone will be able to come, I'm speaking about the humans and avatars of our clans and families"
neytiri " no Jake" neytiri didn't like what she was hearing from her mate, she didn't want to leave anyone behind and her home.
Mo'at " my daughter it true most clan have deep hate for the humans even if they are good"
Jake " honey we have to think about the shacks and avatars, that going take longer to get packed away" Jake looked at his wife trying to comfort her about the whole decision that had been made.
Tsu'tey " then some of us will stay here with our mates and children" tsu'tey had taped towards Jake he didnt want to leave norm and spider behind, he also didn't want to leave you behind as well.
Jake " look I know everyone hates this idea but we need a plan and this the plan to protect our families and clan, as when we leave the RDA will leave them be and we can meet up with them later" Jake was looking at his people most of them heartbroken and upset, he soon looked at his family to see his kids holding onto you and spider.
Norm " let us human put it to the vote some of us might be able to travel the long distance"
Jake " Norm"
Norm " please Jake for my families sake please" Jake had nodded his head in agreement allow all the humans to gather together and make up a plan for them as well.
spider " so we have to say goodbye to everyone we love and care about, and be apart for them for how long" spider had spoken getting everyone attention on him.
y/n " as long as it take for my father and grandmother to get us refugee as well" soon the attention had switched to you as you had voice what will be happening.
max " it wont be safe for an avatar to go this long distance without, something bad happening to anyone" the words spoke from max had helped everyone come to a solution in their minds.
Trudy " so what are decisions" trudy knew the group had to make their decision as lives were on the line for everyone, and a very import choice will have to be made right now.
later that night
you had reach the family home to hear your parent debating on Jake choice, and coming from what you were hearing none of it was good. You could hear your sibling expect tuk voicing their feeling on the whole matter.
neytiri " no I will not leave my daughter behind for that demon to find her"
Jake " I'm sorry everyone do you think I want to leave her as well"
Y/n " I'm home" soon everyone looked at you as your stepped into the home getting everyone attention.
kiri "good you are home have you and the others made a decision" kiri walked towards you she was hoping for some good new comic from you.
Y/n " we have decided to stay here we will stay under the radar, and try to understand the RDA"
lo'ak " no we are not leaving you, spider, or uncle norm and aunt Trudy behind ... we won't leave anyone behind" lo'ak was standing near you now hoping for some new answer from you.
Y/n " it has been decided I'm sorry brother"
neteyam " no we can't leave you alone here sully sticks together"
Y/n " yes and we will stick together even if we are apart from each other"
Tuk " no" tuk soon hugged your legs and started crying you soon picked her up.
y/n " I will be okay tuk and I will keep on in connect with you all when you are away" you soon looked at your parents they were having a hard time accepting this new as they didn't want to lose you.
Jake " I'm sorry baby girl" you soon put tuk down and walked towards your dad and hugged him.
Y/n " It okay dad I will be fine ... mom"
neytiri " once we get approval you are coming straight away nothing else, you will be back with us soon"
y/n " yes mom I will make sure that happens I will be with you guys once again" soon the family and joined a hug not wanting it to end at all, that night you spent with your family you were not the only one as many other families were spending the night together.
the day everyone leaves
neytiri " make sure you eat three meals and day and redo your hair when it gets messy"
y/n " yes mom"
spider " dont worry aunt neytiri I will look out for her"
neytiri " you stay safe as well spider I don't sad new about any of you two" neytiri and hugged you and spider close she was praying that demon would not get you both, if she did she will any human ship for revenge.
Jake " both of you are doing a mature thing I'm proud of you both"
Tsu'tey " we will be waiting to see you all again"
spider " yes sirs"
y/n " we will all be okay we have each other back here"
neteyem " hey both of you stay safe"
spider " we will be fine dude"
lo'ak " I'm going to miss you both who going to go on adventures with me and who going to keep me out of trouble"
Y/n " don't worry you will be good lo"
tuk " y/n and spider I made these bracelets for you both so you won't forget us"
spider " thanks kiddo"
y/n " I will miss you little one but I need you to keep our sibling happy and our parents as well"
tuk " I can do that"
y/n " good and have fun wherever you go for me and you"
tuk" yes big sis" you soon hugged Tuk one last time, you soon felt other people join the hug. It was the rest of your siblings everyone was holding close not wanting it to end.
neytiri “ thank your norm for taking in y/n when we are away”
norm “ she my niece I will do anything for her”
Tsu’tey “ take care my love” tsutey and norm had embraced each other into, a hug soon bring spider into the hug as well.
norm “ I will be fine”
Jake “ my people we will be leaving soon … taking you all for staying with me on this matter I will make sure we are all reunited soon enough” families had embraced in one last hug, before the group had to leave. Tears were rushing down your face as you saw your family disappear into the sky, everyone else was emotionally while making their way home. Everyone knew that everyone will be reunited once again, it might take some time but everyone will be back together soon. The doctors and scientists were working on something special for you and spider, that night that will help in the end. You stayed up that night with spider talking about everything and trying to look on the bright side of everything right now. As you were missing your family they we’re missing you as well.
