Oo I like the concept of Nate turning into a baby. I wanna ask for that au (to Francis and Teddy) how do you feel about the situation about Nate turning into a kid?

TEDDY: Well...we had to admit, this wasn’t one of the things we thought could happen at all. It's been overwhelming and difficult, but Nate’s been (sort of) patient with us. Other than annoying us when we’re walking in the hallways and doing wild shenanigans, he would be sleeping or drawing, which helps us catch a break. It’s good to know he still has his memories, so he knows what to do and what not to do, but I can see his anger for not being able to talk, due to his state...

FRANCIS: Well, he’s happy and healthy and that’s all that matters for us now. He has some “baby brain” moments, ‘cuz sometimes he just babbles to make sounds, and he will play with his feet and anything else he finds. It's adorable and cute if you ask me.

Being a reporter in the middle of a war wasn't quite what Juliet signed up for, and Ray could tell as the weeks went on. Juliet could tell serving in the Marines was heavily affecting Ray, too. vi. Backstory

Juliet was born and raised in Queens, New York. She was raised in a middle class family, and lived an ultimately normal life until her mothers death when she was 14. Juliet's mother, Monica was killed in a tragic car accident on a snowy night in December. This changed Juliet forever. The once bright and happy young girl became very reserved and closed off.

She remained that way throughout high school and college, and was eventually dubbed as being boring. Juliet was a smart girl, but she lacked the knowledge of how to cope with trauma.

Juliet worked closely with Evan, he was her mentor during her time at Rolling Stone. When the opportunity arose to be in the middle of a warzone for the sake of a book, Juliet saw this as her chance to get out of her shell and prove she was not boring.

I still didn't have a clue 'what I was going to say to my mother' the next day at noon, when I entered the small sub-shop near campus.

She was already there and smiled when she saw me, standing up, as if to give me a hug but I pulled a chair back and sat down.

She wasn't getting a hug from me.

I watched her smile falter before she returned to her seat.

"Thank you for meeting with me. Are you hungry? I ordered for you, hope you don't mind. Your favorite, chicken tenders."

I rolled my eyes

"My favorite when I was like, ten."

"Oh. Right. Sorry," she apologized sheepishly.

"It's whatever," I inhaled and exhaled.

'There's no reason to get angry, Noah, chill out.'

"How are you?" my mother asked innocently.

But I wasn't having it.

"Can we not do that? Can we skip the bullshit? Why do you keep coming 'round my work?" I questioned her.

"Because I want you in my life, baby," my mother answered my question.

She had a BLT sandwich for her lunch but neither of us seemed into our food.

I shook my head, my jaw clenched at her words.

'Fuck, why did I set this meeting up?'

"You don't get to want that, that's not fair. You left. You walked out on Nathan and my life, when we needed you the most," my voice cracked at the end from each strained word but I refused to cry but my mother didn't because tears were streaming down her face already.

"I know. I'm sorry, baby."

"Stop with the 'baby bullshit'. You don't have that privilege. If you're sorry then explain why you left."

'Fuck, don't cry Noah, you shithead.'

I held it together but watching my mother cry still hurt my chest to see but I also felt like she deserved to cry.

I felt like she had no right to cry.

It was a lot of mixed emotions at lunch for me.

She nodded, wiping her continuous tears with a napkin before speaking.

"I'm sorry I left but I had to."

I scoffed.

"Your father was horrible to me, abusive."

"He was horrible to all of us," I seethed, trying not to make a scene in the restaurant.

"I know. I wanted to bring you boys with me but I wanted to get sober first."

My mother was also a drunk like my father but never as bad.

"So I left and I went to rehab and I told myself I would get my boys back but when I got out I... I met someone and..." her jaw was quivering.

"It wasn't good. He was using so I started using, as well."

I groaned in frustration.

"Holy shit, Mom. Are you joking me?"

She ignored me as she continued...

"It was hard to leave but once I did, I got better but then I relapsed," she was sobbing and I wanted to roll my eyes because then I was pissed.

Why couldn't she just come to me and Nathan, not meet some new abusive shit head.

"But now I'm better," she insisted.

I scoffed.

"Six fucking years and now you're better. Fucking great. Well, while you were gone, snorting Coke and shooting up, I was getting my ass beat weekly."

That's when the burning sensation took over and tears slipped out but I angrily swiped each away.

"Nate went off to college and I had to go through everything alone. My abusive, homophobic shithead father and his relentless handsy friend."

My mother looked confused at that but instead of explaining, I said...

"You missed too much. Too many things I needed a mother for."

I stood up.

"Fuck this," I muttered.

The frustration I felt was too much.

I tried taking deep breaths but it wasn't calming me down.

I ignored my mother calling at me to wait as I stormed out of the restaurant.

Heading towards my car in the lot, I was so angry I could punch a wall until the driver side door of my car opened and Ciera stepped out.

She had gone with me which I was grateful for because as soon as she saw me, she ran up to me and wrapped her arms around me and I pathetically broke down, no longer feeling angry but relieved I wasn't near my mom anymore.

I hugged Ciera back.

"Let's go home," Ciera said.

I took a deep breath when Ciera and I got into the apartment and we both sat on the couch.

"So what happened?" she asked.

I sighed and rubbed my face before explaining to her what happened and Ciera listened intently.

"Jeez. So she was just getting high the whole time, while you got the shit kicked out of you, for dating a boy."

"Yeah. What luck I had with parents, huh?" I muttered then more seriously I said...

"Thank you for being there today. I needed you."

And I really did.

Ciera was the only comfort in my life and I knew I'd never be able to let it go.

"You're welcome. I know you'd do the same for me," Ciera said softly but then she glanced down at my mouth and all I thought about was her comfort when my hand went behind her ear and did the first thing that came to mind, I kissed her.

Ciera's lips against mine didn't last long.

"EW," we both pulled back with a cringe.

"That was a mistake," I said, feeling queasy.

So definitely the comfort of a family member I felt from her, not a lover.

"Agreed," Ciera said seeming equally disgusted as I was.

"What was that with your tongue?"

"I was trying to put my tongue in your mouth but you wouldn't fucking let me," I explained defensively but wasn't actually offended.

"Who uses their tongue right away?"

"I don't know, everyone? Sorry you're a prude," I shrugged.

Ciera laughed.

"That was fucking horrible. I'm taking a shower," she announced but I quickly got off the couch and raced towards her destination.

"Hey," she yelled as she went after me but I got to the bathroom first.

"Fuck you, Noah."

"You wouldn't know how," I responded then shut the door in her face and twisted the lock.

"You dickhead."
