Why Percy Jackson is a transfem character and always has been

So!!Obligatory 'i'm a trans man,not a trans woman' disclaimer but this analysis is based purely off 1.Percy's canon personality,relathionships and story and 2.Irl transfeminine experiences that i know a lot about thanks to having a lot of transfem friends.Said friends have also listened to my reasoning behind tgirl Percy and agreed with me if not having the hc for her already and every other transfem Pjo fan i've seen i don't personally know also say her narrative is trans woman's one too and they always understand Percy's characterization better than anyone else in the fandom(certainly better than 'himbo/malewife/babygirl-coded/slutty bisexual Percy' believers)and as a Percy kinnie it's been the take that's felt most correct to me ever since i first read Pjo,10 years ago much,MUCH before i even realized i'm queer.So with that,let's dive into why Percy is a girl quasi-canonically,including that Rick Riordan has refered to her as straight but never cis!

Percy's personality

Now,as i've said before,Percy's not all that actually gendered as male-Meaning,none of her attitude or behavior or interests are masculine and are misenterpreted as such due to misogyny and gender essentialism.Percy has poor social skills,anger issues,merciless tendencies,a strong sense of justice,self-worth problems,a very odd sense of humor that always lands and respects women to the point of thinking they're better than men and none of these are gendered traits but a mix of audhd-dyslexia and trauma.The last one is arguably actually a girl thing even if there's an in-universe reason for it(good mom,deadbeat birth dad,abusive stepdad,most antagonists being older men in power and the first older person she thought she could trust was just manipulating her)

Percy also frequently complains about having to act like a stereotypical guy to have to fit into society's standards because naturally,she's just not-She's completely unconvential even amongst 'other male' demigods and this is reguarly commented on.In fact,there's a whole plot in Titan's Curse of her proving to the Hunters that she's NOT a normal 'man' and it's a huge thing that's reinforced as true the whole franchise!Zoe was right about cis men being ass and that's not 'r*dical feminism' and ngl a lot of y'all are telling on yourselves because she never talked about biology in her misandry,especially because Zoe appears to be around the same age as Thalia physically and mentally so it's super icky to throw t*rf accusations at her because she's traumatized by ancient greek men,one of the worst kinds of men ever!And Percy's totally unlike them despite being amab and identifying male not because 'not all men' but because she's actually a woman

This is a direct contrast to how she talks about and interacts with other girls-Almost every female character earns her worship on first meeting,even if she dosen't like them as people.She puts a heavy emphasis on them being girls in her narration and some dialogue too and her descriptions of them are so admirative they come as envious with her own insecurities in her looks.Percy is severely lacking in any kind of masculinity and Piper even pointed this out based on her vibes alone after hearing all about her at camp and thinking she'd be a macho man based off how people talk about her and i'm unsure if this is a common phenomenom but i frequently see and hear people say daughters tend to look like girl versions of their dad's and Percy is said to be identical to Poseidon but with softer features and the idea Percy should tie herself to masculinity due to it being expected of amabs is contradictory to canon's messages in addition to it's irl sexist implications and the sea is frequently associated with femininity(mermaids and sirens,calling ships 'she',pearl jewelry,the term 'Beach Bunny',the moon controlling the tides,etc)

And small final note:The rock music scene is filled with transfemmes and has been for a long time and while blue things are usually associated with boys,it was Percy's mom who got her to love them

Percy's relathionships

Almost all of Percy's friends growing up were girls-Annabeth,Silena,Thalia,Bianca,Zoe,Clarisse and Rachel vs just Grover,Beckendorf and Nico.She thinks The Stolls are annoying as shit with their 'boys will be boys' beat and she hates male gods on sight and implies she finds them being super conventionally attractive to be offputting instead of appealing.Nico had a crush on her until they got closer and realized she's not an ideal man like he thought she was and therefore 'cute but not his type'(I have no opinion on Solangelo but i got beef with the shippers for making this about blonde hair and blue eyes instead of transfem Percy,especially the trope of Percy acting like a kiddy fiddler over what Nico said as a joke)and she takes responsibility of him post Bianca's death and Nico exclusively wishes for older sister figures,never old brother ones

Percy and Rachel is a classic irl dynamic between transfems and their afab friends:Dating to exes to even closer friends.Rachel is a pretty typical lesbian if we're applying irl wlw things too and Annabeth is clearly a huge lesbian-Like seriously,she only ever showed attraction to Luke and Percy and Luke was comphet in her words('You were like a brother to me but i never loved you')and lesbians experiencing attraction to uncracked eggs is semi-common and she's got tons of subtext with Piper and Reyna and shows a strong distaste for the expectations of cisheterosexual womanhood,mainly femininity.Reyna is yet another comphet lesbian-coded who was into Percy.Clarisse,textually butch,calls her 'Prissy' and Piper,canon unlabeled sapphic and gnc,described her as not masc enough for her taste

Percy's relathionships to older male characters combined with her transfemininity,youth and constantly being described as 'other' from ordinary half-bloods by them function with no need for change as a potrayal to how corrupted men in power treat girls-Not women,underaged girls as Percy is 12 at the start and 18 now and we've yet to get interactions with her and male gods in the current canon timeline so all their abuse of her and innapropriate undertones in their behavior towards her were when she was underaged.This includes but is not limited to:Ares' condesension and (non-sexual) assaults,Apollo's very possible constant flirting that would definitely be textual if Percy was intended as a girl by Rick seeing as Apollo had no problem hitting on the Hunters and Reyna and her entire relathionship with Luke.Luke is canonically a serial pedophile,implied to sleep with Kelli and a raging misogynist and Percy was one of the first victim's of his gaslighting and he tried to kill her after framing her his crime against the gods in an isolated area they'd been alone in together a lot and widely noted to have accidentally been writen flirting with her throught the series by the fandom so i can't help but take Luke.rcy as a male explotation and grooming narrative

Artemis,an archaic symbol of lesbians,loves Percy and considers her above any man.Aphrodite gave Percy advice on her looks by saying everyone deserves to feel perfect in their skin to achive true perfect beauty.Persephone,one of the og csa narratives,said she likes Percy because she's 'brave' with the implication being that again,she can tell Percy is different from usual 'male' half-bloods.Hera is the goddess of traditional marriage and holds a violent resentment towards Percy for disrupting the system.Percy at her core is meant to come across as like a male god but not actually being one and actively not wanting to become one out of hate for authority and traditionality

And another small final note to a section:Frank is trans man-coded(his arc is about being emasculated and saying 'fuck you!' by making his own manhood and Mars' blessing is explicitly compared to testosterone and gives him a huge confidence boost)and they're paralleled as fundamentally similar yet also fundamentally different,Nico and her act like an eldest daughter and a middle brother where she's a pseudo-mom to him and queer siblings and Jason falls under transmasc norms(the ex-wolfkid thing,positive and healthy masculinity,creating a new self after loosing his old idealized one and Team Dad)and instantly became Percy's best friend and is her complimentary foil and 'counterpart' so transmasc4transfem realness

Percy's story(and how it all comes together and would've been improved by canonizing her as a trans woman)

Percy Jackson means 'Outcast who looks out for other outcasts'.She's so unique as a character because she was and is still genuinely a huge weirdo,not just nonhuman,she is human even if it's only half-That's only half of who she is(She's totally a Gwen Stacy variant btw).Being a trans girl would do nothing but enchance her core aspects but also work as a fixit to various canon writing problems!

Percy is femme so that'd give us positive girly girl rep to make up for all the pick me feminism.Annabeth'd have no reason to lash out and give her mixed signals since she's not a boy so their dynamic is improved.Nico's crush fades upon finding out she's a girl so they become best friends and found siblings like they were always meant and wanted to.It causes shifts in the plot that bring a bigger focus on the girlhood aspects of Greek Mythology seperate from romance retellings and a much needed change too:Percy as the hero of the Great Prophecy.Luke was a raging misogynist,a racist,a child groomer,a fucking pedophile and an entire fascist who lied about revolution to ruin society instead of fixing the system.Percy is a lifelong punk,an anarchist and a proffessional instigator and was trying to stop Luke's fuckery from 12 to 16-She's the greatest greco-roman hero ever.TGP was operating on Ancient Greek logic but Pjo isn't Ancient Greece,it's Percy's story-How she forced the gods to change with no choice by SHOWING how much stronger and more etheral she is than them

Humor Me - It's About Beestfic

Okay so here's the thing NFKNGFKJGN I've been slowly working my way through rewriting this thing, but motivation is nonexistent when I have to keep over 110k words to myself without some kind of payoff. My dilemma is this;

I wanted to keep the original posting to preserve the hit ratio, comments, and dates seeing as this is the first fic I ever wrote. I personally think the original is absolute hot garbage and I'm embarrassed to have this thing be a reflection of my current skills. And yet, I've had many people argue they think it's one of the best things they've ever read. (seriously, what are you guys reading where you think this is good? but anyway)

I want to start releasing the rewritten chapters as they come to help motivate me. But that's difficult if I can't notify anyone they've been updated through the email notifs on AO3, and also what about the rest of the 10 chapters that are already up there that now don't correlate with the updated chapter at all? I could post a brand new rework, and just keep the old one preserved, but then I risk all the following I already gained on it, and now I'm just left in a mighty fat pickle.

So my options are this;

A) wait until all 110k words are rewritten, and mass release the updated chapters with a new archive page so that current subscribers get the email notification to reread all 110k words to get up to speed on the new work and new plot

B) Just post a new thing all together and leave the original Beestfic offline, treat it like a brand new fic

C) Post the new thing but release the original Beestfic back out for the public and just label it as 'Discontinued/Classic Version' with a link to the rewrite

D) Mark all current chapters blank and update them as I write them so I don't lose the comments or hits, but ppl subscribed to it won't receive the AO3 email until I post the next chapter. Only people following my socials will know it got updated at all

some of y'all are going to create a modern AU and then write them so out of character that they aren't recognizable without a name. bb it's an original story atp. IMO Ellie isn't a 'heartless mob boss daddy dom' who womanizer but she also isn't a 'shy loser uwu babygirl' who can't stand up for herself. lowkey she'd fuck up anyone who called her a loser lol. i understand that different circumstances can change how a character acts and sometimes it's really interesting to see how they would act in a present-day or other AUs when it's well written and thought out however some headcannons are fabricating entirely new characters. it's not harmful at all, just annoying. also, i know that some writers don't have the same skill level as others to replicate a character's mannerisms, actions, and dialogue so take this with a grain of salt. i can hear 'they write for free' from miles away, so do i! just sharing my opinion which is something you shouldn't be mad about if you're willingly on any form of social media.

I've just realised that the KamiAi relationship is a perfect example of the avoidant/anxious pattern and how it's extremely toxic. As well as codependency. Psychology really is at the heart of the manga.

Yes!! I don't have any of the posts handy, but something I've talked about before vis-a-vis hypothetical Ai ships is that I really like the idea of following her most major flaws through to their logical conclusion of leading her into unhealthy and toxic relationship dynamics. Ai is a desperately lonely person overflowing with compassionate curiosity about others, but she also has basically zero frame of reference for what a healthy relationship looks like, nor does she have the confidence or social skills to advocate for herself or protect herself from these types of harmful dynamics. Babygirl was brewed up in a lab to get put in a dog cage by a yandere boy in the bad end of an otome game route. who said that.

Seeing this idea come to fruition and get explored within the bounds of the HikaAi dynamic was really exciting for me, in that respect! Not only was it in line with how I'd really been hoping the r/s would've played out, but I was actually really surprised to see like... there's no way to say this w/o sounding like i'm jerking myself off lol but a lot of the ways I had previously written Ai handling (or ig failing to gracefully handle) this type of toxicity was exactly in line with how Akasaka canonically portrayed it. So it was exciting to see that on the page too.

Given that OnK is so close to the end and the mystery of wtfever even happened between her and Hikaru is essentially 'resolved' narratively speaking, I don't expect that we'll see much more of their relationship, but I'd love to have an idea of what their day to day dynamic was like... oh well, there's always @yuseirra's HikaAi comics.... [<- blatant and shameless plug on their behalf]

she was just such a genuinely sweet and kind person that nobody could really hate her. she's like one of those people that you can't NOT like. or if you don't like her you feel bad about it

she actually really struggled with bending. the only element that came naturally to her was water, her native element. it took her several years to master each different element, and even after she mastered them she still rarely used them

she also never mastered the avatar state

so she was regarded as a pretty weak avatar, by physical power standards

her real strength came from her social skills

aka, everyone who ever met her fell head over heels in love with her

just by coincidence, each of the world leaders at the time had a kid around the avatar's age

avatar lusa ended up creating the world's most complicated polycule with all the world leaders' kids

she was with the crown princess of the fire nation, the crown prince of the earth kingdom, the chief's eldest son of the water tribe, and an air nun who was a spiritual prodigy and already well on her way to being a guru by the time she was in her twenties

so the world leaders like. couldn't be mad at her. because that was their kid's girlfriend they were talking to

and as all of her partners rose to power, they couldn't really be mad at each other. because that was their girlfriend's other partner. and they all love their girlfriend

i'm just imagining her like cuddling with one of them and being like 'hey, could you... *flutters eyelashes* sign that peace treaty i proposed?' 'anything for you, babygirl'

is this a little ridiculous? maybe. but i think it's hilarious

she did have a few kids, but they were all barred from the line of succession bc they couldn't confirm who the father was rip

she kept things very peaceful between the nations while she was alive

however, after her death it all fell to pieces again as she was the one holding everything together

so her 'avatar regret' is that she didn't do more to change actual policy within the nations. her peace hinged on specific people, and after their death the nation had no more reason to really listen to her

✧ He doesn’t. At least, not properly. Marriage would have to be something that his s/o insists on, and he would have his mental gymnastics cut out for him in weighing the emotional costs and benefits of compromising with that request. He’s more likely to hear the suggestion to get married, not even respond, and leave them wondering if he was even listening to what they were saying. He was, for the record. He’s just taking some time to let the thoughts simmer, instead of chewing them out over bringing such an idea to the table.

Being legally tied together means absolutely nothing to this man, and the thought of it stresses him out due to his attachment wounds. He cares about them, admittedly, despite everything. Despite himself, and as much as he wants to bury those feelings.

He would begrudgingly accept any well thought out, private, intimate, [insert more synonyms for lowkey] proposal, and granted his s/o does the bulk of the wedding planning. He’s kind of babygirl for that.

✧ His relationships are inherently pretty spicy (in the traditional and nontraditional sense) because he’s a mercurial man. He’s not great for anyone who doesn’t do well with reactivity. His moods can be all over the place, and that’s likely what is spicy enough for him and his relationships.

I’ve said before that his s/o is often the one to propose they do anything new, and a lot of him complying with their requests is because it pleases them (and him). He doesn’t often go out of his way to please them, but he also prides himself in keeping his s/o happy and is more easily swayed to push his comfort zones if they drive a hard bargain.

✧ He is not particularly adventurous in general, and while his s/o may frequent a specific spot, it would be only once in every ten visits that you’ll find Xanxus with them. He doesn’t mix well with the general public, if I’m so honest. He’s a man with a huge, intimidating, attention-drawing aura about him, and he’s easily ticked off.

No matter how good your customer service skills are, it’s unlikely that Xanxus will be pleased enough to leave a 5-star review of your cafe. He prefers spaces that require less petty social interaction. His favourite place is definitely his personal room(s) in the mansion. He unexpectedly fares well in a large dim bookstore or fancy library, granted he is just going to plop down onto the big sofa and take a nap in hopes that no one bothers him. Everyone has to be extra careful to not set him off in that space though, because that is one flammable enclosed space.

✧ In a sense, he has a family whether he likes it or not, though not by blood. He has his assassin team, the Vongola as a whole, and of course, his baby boy Bester.

He’s surprisingly sweet with Bester, though the liger does have a similar temper like his handler. Bester is really only super soft and tolerant with Xanxus’s partner(s), and that totally annoys him, kind of like when your cat likes the s/o more than it likes the actual owner. It might be because they spoil Bester with extra treats, and they end up being the good cop to Xanxus’s bad cop in the parenting dynamic.

Anyway, I can’t imagine Xanxus wanting to have kids, aside from to feed his ego and to follow his blood family’s traditional customs and values. He doesn’t have the emotional capacity to support and raise a child healthily and is reluctant to replicate the trauma that he experienced in his upbringing.

hahahahahahaha i don't fucking know i think i can make character voices distinct so you can usually tell which POV I'm writing from once the perspectives are established?

I have been complimented on my dialogue.

I think I'm usually brave enough to take a risky decision, even if it doesn't pay off. These decisions also land more than they used to so it's a skill I've built with time and one I am proud of.

My jokes don't seem to just be for me anymore, I like it when other people say I made them laugh.

17) What are your writing weaknesses?

If there's something that can be said straightforwardly in a sentence, you know I'll say it in three paragraphs instead. I wouldn't be surprised if people think I'm a purple-prosed motherfucker.

Smut and lack thereof

the repeat of 'conversation, stage direction, eye contact, expression, repeat' is not a weakness but it is something I become intermittently self conscious of.

18) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I am a fan of it and I appreciate it when its done well (pour one out for Naomi Novik's fic/writing where the language work is cringingly poor), but not something I can personally do. Admirer in others, of the skills I lack.

19) First fandom you wrote for?

*dabs* Dragon Age, the OG. It was the pandemic, and I didn't want to replay Wicked Eyes Wicked Hearts bc I hate timed sections, so I wrote a fic instead.

20) Favorite fic you’ve written?

I feel bad writing this on the blog that's currently 99% BG3, but The Stars Don't Shine They Burn. It was my first time plotting something that diverged greatly from source material, and I was going through some stuff at the time that I can feel viscerally when I return to it and read the words. It is a work of personalised comfort. There's one scene in it that still gets me, every single time.

I don't know, it's funny to see Pieces get attention and I'm very, very proud of Pieces, but some of what I'm thinking through in that was in its proto-form in the other fic, which is finished and I'm really proud of it... so let's see if anything comes along to bop it off the top spot once I have a critical distance and am not in the writing trenches lol.

Tagging wise, I actually want to do an open call on this one!! this was a really pleasant exercise, so anyone seeing this who wants to talk about their writing or celebrate their achievements can take this as my personal invitation :)

Hi! I’m new to the rusty lake fandom and I wanted to ask why is David Eilander so babygirl-ified? This isn’t hate, I’m all here for it (and the art is incredible!) I’m just curious if I might have missed some lore about him or if the fandom just really likes his character

So years ago this wasn't the case. People did used to hate him but there was a shift later as, I assume, people realized that when you meet David in Paradise, he's just a 15 year old. He's a dumb teen in a cult, who doesn't know any better cuz he's probably just going along with his family.

David is one of the most interesting characters in the series when you give his character some thinking. His journey sticks out from the other characters yet remains unexplored (for now)

As I often get asked about him (being the self-proclaimed #1 David fan xD) I'll link you to an ask I got that is similar to yours.

Cuz I could talk about this guy alllll day and I don't wanna bore you, Anon.

I think people, with time, simply started thinking about David more deeply which gave them a better picture of who he is. Just a boy who never got to be a kid, like his siblings.

I will say I did have a hand in that especially recently where I started working on a comic that explores his character more which also prompted others to view David differently (it sounds like a humble brag I'm sorry 😭 but I'm just relaying the responses I've gotten from the fanbase)

TLDR; David is a character you need to look into beyond surface level to really understand. He is the one that set off the domino chain that led to Dale being where he is now after all. He's important to the lore but has yet to be explored fully.

Hope this gave you a good picture, anon. Personally to me, he's always been my son. I loved him 6 years ago when no one did, and I still love him now, and I know I always will, because at this point... I know he's capable of crime and I still support him fully 😌

first of all: the declan childhood flashbacks...that boy is autistic as SHIT. i'm giving maggie the benefit of the doubt here and telling myself that she was implying that and not just making a joke about "haha guy is uptight and no fun as an adult he only sorted things and enforced rules and structure as a kid cus that's funny" because oh my god?? also as an adult he has "declanisms"- phrases he uses for certain situations like categories...scripting... declan baby. he is the most autistic babygirl i have ever seen holy shit oh my g

i've also always related to ronan and a big part of that is because i've always read him as autistic. i mean i've always read all the original trc characters as autistic, to be fair. but i mean? are t they? (yes, they are, because i said so. it's my special interest, i get to assign the autism)

now i understand that the larger metaphor is about chronic illness, and i'm in love with that. i don't think autism is the main thing there. but i don't think it's not there, just as depression and bpd (imo but thats another post) aren't not there. (it's art, it's literature, it's open for interpretation.) but what i keep thinking about: chronic illnesses like epilepsy, hypermobility disorders, mitochondrial disorders, and several others mt end to be comorbid with autism. and as someone who is both autistic and deals with chronic illness/chronic pain (and who has several friends who are in the same boat), autism and chronic illness often seem intertwined to me. idk, just thoughts

ALSO. y'all heard people comparing being autistic/neurodivergent to speaking a different "language" than allistic/neurotypical people? THE WHOLE THINF ABOUT THE DREAM WORLD SPEAKING A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE THAT COULDNT BE TRANSLATED INTO ANY HUMAN UNDERSTANDING. thinking also about how autistic people so often feel like (and are compared to) aliens or otherworldly beings. how changeling children in folklore were probably just autistic kids but were etched in canon as erdrich creatures. how sometimes i wanna become that eldritch creature that others seem to think i am...

also, also: the theme of masks and "other selves" running throughout the entire series, even in trc. declan is the most obvious masker as an adult; he has to create a persona and STICK TO A SCRIPT OF THW SAME WORDS ALL THE TIME in order to feel like he's functioning and got his shit together. and then hennessey and jordan--hennessey creates a version of herself that she feels is more palatable, more socially acceptable, and that's who does all the soft skills of their operation early on. adam creates a false version of himself. ronan lies to himself about who and what he really is. matthew discovers that he's just been acting like who others want him to act like all along--that he's been suppressing his emotions and wants and needs in order to make others happy. and i know that this whole theme can translate into a lot of things, but what i've read it as since cdth is masking with autism/neurodivergence.

imagine walking into the kitchen the next morning though, seeing him resting against the countertop; taking in your form, hiding a knowing smirk. his intense stare never ceasing, yearning to make that eye contact that he just knows'll induce a virginal-catholic kind of shame, and he just revels in watching you squirm, utilising his intellect and social manoeuvring skills to patronize and condescend like a king oml help

And he’s giving it back just as good as you’re giving it, responding to your pleas, his personal favorite being you whimpering about how much you like it when he makes you all sticky, because the way you feel so good and wet and messy around him is so hot to him and he loves that you find it a turn on just as much as he does

Silverfox daddy still has some strength and stamina and if you want him to make it hurt, he’ll do exactly that, cooing in your ear, “aw, are you sure you can take it, love?” and you’re unabashedly letting words flow, not caring how obscene they are, begging him for it, telling him you want him to ruin you, turn you into a mess, the heat of the moment making all the dirty talk come up (which is honestly so good when it happens during sex like wow fave!) like ugh I’m just thinking of him going “i know, baby. tell me how good it hurts, that’s it.” and I’m losing my shit!!!

The avoiding of eye contact the next morning but feeling him looking at you is so !!!! ahhh cause I just love the fact that he knows it’s gonna fluster you so bad and it just adds to your sexy ass chemistry because you know that he never wants you to feel ashamed for feeling safe to show how much you desire him because he makes sure to remind you of it constantly

the work assignments are not done ha! i finished all the interview summaries (15 of them!) and then reviewed 12 hours' worth of content and now onto the next bunch of work. But I'm on schedule so that's good.

“A fireman,” David replies. If Max didn’t know any better he’d say David sounds a little fond. “Are you not afraid of fire?”

 “I don’t know,” Max shrugs, balancing the phone in between his ear and shoulder, looking for his notes. “I guess I just thought I’d look hot on a calendar.”

“Weren’t you a child?”

“I was a child with incredible foresight.”

David scoffs at that. “You do know that people sell partially nude calendars of you on Etsy, right?”

Max pauses. “I know that. I do you know that?”

“Well, I mean, it’s everywhere online,” David tells him. “I know more about you than I probably should.”

“And yet you didn’t know that I speak French,” Max points out. 

“I’m sorry. But YouTube only has videos of Max Lightwood-Bane swearing for four minutes straight and Max Lightwood-Bane laughing for seven minutes straight. I’m afraid the general public is unaware of your French skills.”

“Oh, I think the general public knows about my French skills. I'm very good with my tongue-“

“All right. That’s quite enough of that,” David shushes him. “Anyway, back to your childhood quest to be a fireman. I’m not entirely surprised, you know.”

“No?” Max asks, going back to his rummaging because he has a task at hand. He needs to focus. European Princes are terrible distractions. “Because of the partially nude calendars?”

“Because I think you like being the hero,” David tells him. “You like rescuing people.”

Now it’s Max’s turn to scoff. “That’s a lot coming from Prince Charming who’s off to rescue damsels in distress all the time.”

“I don’t think I’ve ever rescued anything in my entire life,” David tells him, a little seriously. 

Max doesn’t like that tone. It’s a little self-deprecating. It doesn’t suit a prince. It certainly doesn’t suit David, who is supposed to be Max’s new best friend now. Max doesn't vibe with self-pitying fools. All his friends are arrogant, yet adorable, little cunts. He mostly means Mina, of course. And Rafe.

“Isn’t Chopin a rescue?” Max inquires. 

“Chopin is a cat. He doesn’t count,” the Prince informs him. 

“Careful,” Max chuckles. “My bapak will sue you for that kind of talk.”

as previously mentioned bax has shit eyesight. hes also a bit mentally ill (lack of survival instincts), and while that can be beneficial when in dangerous situations where he needs to act effectively and expediently it can also be VERY DISADVANTAGEOUS. for obvious reasosn. what would the crew do without him? when hes constantly getting injured and incapacitated?

roy has her weird eyesight, and she has kind of the opposite of bax's problem. shes pretty anxious and has trouble acting and making quick decisions. she doesnt really like getting into *serious* trouble (she likes silly stuff and pranks and goofs though), anyways this makes it harder for her to step in when someone needs help.

clam *is* a runaway government android and so basically anything that isnt healing or surveillance is antithetical to what he was programmed for which is bad for everyone. he wants so badly to deviate and cultivate more of an identity but its gotta be just one step at a time, while roy and the others help him reprogram his body and brain bit by bit. which sucks. he wants physical agency Now.

tallys lack of horns and low-ppointing fin rays would land him very low in his home planets sort of caste system. not like. homestuck per se, its less ingrained and more socially enforced. on a dangerous planet where community contribution holds a lot of social weight, being physically weaker, lacking parental skills or instincts, and being kind of selfish on top of all of that made him very. not liked. this is part of the reason kip feels so responsible for him and overly protective.

anyways hes kinda internalized it. every single crumb of attention and validation sends his ego to the moon (metaphorically). he is torn between accepting a low place in life and society "everyone hates me, why should i change that" and desperately trying to prove his worth to anyone who will listen. yaaay mentla illness mwah (i kiss him on the forehead)

kip is the opposite of tally. he has horns. his fin rays point straight up. hes big and strong. he can hunt and protect. hes kind of tender and paternal. hes generally well respected. and he left all that. with his "nephew."

hes used to the expectation of taking care of everyone, protecting them, making sure nothing goes wrong. so he overcorrects. he comes off a bit controlling, though he normally channels this through his cooking. its like a healthy outlet, where he has control over everything as long as everyone stays OUT of his FUCKING kitchen.

hes also very slow to learn and a bit stubborn (though he tries very very hard to work on this)

hes honestly very stable and good at keeping himself together unless He were to be the one hurt and or in trouble ahahaha. he would not handle that. he would go crazy. the thought of being the one to need others makes him ill.

he is so fucking awkward around clam and its for two reasons. 1. dont wanna break him, unfamiliar object, not sure how the best way to proceed 2. stop trying to help me stop leave me alone you sick vermin

deep down he loves clam though cause he feels like theyre the same. "this weird animate object is just like me fr" he admires clams instinct to help others a lot eheheheh.

Lavinia stared at the result of the tournament, she would be lying that it did make her feel a little upset but... She glanced at the JATID fam all hyping up their sister as they lifted her chanting. Lavinia smiled softly at the family before walking over to them.

Their sister, noticed her approach and signalled her family to let her down. The two stood face to face as the fam stepped back giving them space. Lavinia grinned at her as she held out a hand to her, "Congrats on winning"

Lavinia was taken back as Lav suddenly pulled her in a hug instead. Lavinia hugged back as she got over the surprise.

"You did great too, it was fun", Lav spoke as she tighten the hug.

Lavinia huffed amusingly at her before they broke apart and Lav return to her family.

Lavinia watched fondly just as her own brothers came up behind her.

"sorry you didn't win", her baby brother, Michelangelo, placed a hand on her shoulder

"you should have won if you ask me", her hot-headed brother, Raphael, grumbled under his breath as he stood on her other side.

"aren't you being kinda biased though?", her genius brother, Donatello, raised an unimpressed eye ridge at him as they followed him.

Raph turned to side-glance them, "Yeah, and?", He crossed his arms, glaring slightly at him, only for Donnie to return a blank stare.

Lavinia playfully rolled her eyes at the two's antics."it's fine besides I'm not completely out of the tournament now am I?", She smirked as she pointed a thumb over to the mini-tournament sign-up booth.

"Of course you ain't out yet, after all, these outfits are not going to waste", Mikey spoke dramatically as he flipped a hand over his shoulder as if he had hair and then he grabbed Lavinia's hand, making his way over to the booth.

"and I ask again, when did you have the time to make these"Raph paused as he gestured to the outfits Mikey had gotten for the three of them to cheer on their big sister,"seriously when?"

Mikey turned to look over his shoulder and grinned at Raph, tongue sticking out between his teeth, before turning back to continue his quest to the booth. Lavinia offered a shrug before allowing her baby brother to drag her along.

Raph groaned before following the pair as Donnie snickered under their breath as they followed his lead.
