Why is the barrel scene in the second The Hobbit movie more realistic than Legolas' weird CGI face?

I hope Jeff Shark is never in an MCU film. I just imagine the most charmless CG model some poor FX artist had to 10 overtimes creating, and he only shows up in like 5 scenes in the film.

“Death of a Unicorn” is a new horror comedy starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega. If you’ve seen the trailer, you know the setup. On a trip with his daughter to see his very rich boss in the Canadian Rockies, Paul Rudd hits a unicorn with his rental. He loads the bloody carcass into the car and delivers it to his boss.
The first half of the movie is fun, as it skewers the rich white boss and his family (played by Richard E. Grant, Téa Leoni, and Will Poulter). They claim they will use the unicorn’s healing powers for the good of mankind, while calculating how much money they will profit from it.
But this is where the problems creep in - Paul Rudd. He plays the kind of character he always plays - a smiling, affable doofus. But in this movie, the doofus is just as greedy and conniving as his boss. So when the blood starts splattering, he should be a target just like everyone else - after all, he is the one who hit the unicorn with his car, then bashed its skull to make sure it was dead. But nope! This is lovable Paul Rudd. They give him a redemption arc! UGH!
The second problem is, although the Killer Unicorns look okay in the dark, once they are shown in close-up (or worse yet in sunlight), they look as fake as shit.
Maybe they will improve the unicorn CGI in the sequel where Paul Rudd visits the unicorns in the Quantum Realm.
(Jenna Ortega is the movie’s bright spot. She’s actually quite good.)
