Book Seventy-Nine: If It Bleeds
“There’s an underlying truth in it which I believe you will grasp even at your current age Films are ephemeral, while books- the good ones- are eternal, or close to it. You have read me many good ones, but others are waiting to be written.”
Tumblr media
This is it... the second to last book in the challenge. I’m really dragging my feet reading Later (although it is a spectacular book). But this challenge is over, and I don’t know what I’m going to do. I have a ton of books on my shelves and Kindle to read, and writing that needs to be done (characters are all but screaming for me to come back to them); but this project really gave me purpose in a rudderless time.
I had started this project as a fun conversation piece, but quickly turned into something bigger. During quarantine, this challenge gave me a purpose. I’d challenge myself to read one hundred pages a day, and remind myself to drink water between chapters. Sometimes writing these posts dragged me out of bed. In winter months I’m extremely agoraphobic, and it’s tough for me to leave the house some days. And other days it’s all I can do to wash and brush my hair. Mental health is a bitch, sometimes. But I didn’t mean to make this about me... although I’m sure some of my readers can relate, a lot of us took a hit to the mental health during 2020. While I will look back on quarantine fondly (it gave me excuses not to leave the house, or change out of my pajamas), my mental health will not. But just as it’s time to leave the house, I suppose it’s also time to start focusing on new projects once this one is complete. I have no idea what that will look like. Maybe I’ll start with Steve’s movies. Maybe I’ll re-read Joe Hill. Who knows. But I do know I’m going to indulge in some trashy fiction reading.
Ok!
If It Bleeds is a collection of three novellas, and a Holly Gibney story. I shouldn’t discount the other three stories: they’re extremely well written, and thought provoking. But the real star of the book is the Holly story.
The first story, Mr. Harrigan’s Phone turns grief on it’s ear. A lot of people call their loved one’s cellphones after they pass... they want that experience of hearing their voice just one more time. But what happens when the phone is buried with your loved one and continues to ring? And what if you get a text from them after their death? It’s a sweet story, with your typical Steve twist.
The second story, The Life of Chuck is told backwards, and “contains multitudes”. It also has a post-apocalyptic vibes, with California falling into the ocean, and the Midwest burning. It also has college kids storming the White House looking for answers, which is just another example of Steve predicting the future.
Steve was inspired by a random billboard that read, “Thanks Chuck!” along with a guys picture and “39 Great Years”. Again, something mundane with a great Steve twist. He’s proven this is his sweet spot.
The third story is If It Bleeds, which picks up almost immediately where The Outsider left off. There’s a tragic bombing that takes place inside an elementary school, and Holly can’t stop watching the television news reports. There’s something tickling at her brain, and she can’t figure out what it is.
Tumblr media
Eventually we find out there are more monsters like the one Holly killed in The Outsider. Jerome makes the best comparison, and says evil is like a bird that randomly flies from person to person, infecting them as it goes. There’s one section of the book when a character refers to the monster as, “It”. So it makes you wonder if this is one big tie-in, where we find out Holly is killing pieces of the monster that plagued Derry for so long.
Tumblr media
The mystery itself is secondary to Holly’s larger-than-life character. She is dealing with family issues; her Trump-supporting mom needs Holly’s help putting her uncle in a care facility, and Holly is struggling to cut herself out of the co-dependent relationship she has with her mother. But Holly has grown. She knows her worth, and she doesn’t let people talk down to her anymore. Her evolution is best described as, “Holly would do well to remember...who she is. Not the child who nibbled Mr. Rabbit Trick’s ears. Not the adolescent who threw up her breakfast most days before school. She  is the woman who, along with Bill and Jerome, saved those children at the Midwest Culture and Arts Complex. She is the woman who survived Brady Hartsfield. The one who faced another monster in a Texas cave. The girl who hid in this room and never wanted to come out is gone.”
The final story is Rat. And I’m just going to tell you... an actual rat quoting Jonathan Franzen is perfect. He’s problematic enough to be an actual rodent. Yeah, I’m going to say it. The Corrections was absolute garbage, and I don’t know why it was lauded the way it was. He’s a condescending misogynist and he’s not nearly as good a writer as he thinks he is... says the girl writing a blog on her Stephen King musings. But whatever! I own what I’m doing, and the significance of it.
Tumblr media
I will gladly re-read all of Steve’s books again before picking up another Jonathan Franzen book. If you want to dive into all the reasons he’s disgusting, this Bustle article will explain it to you. Like, legit explain it. Not mansplain it.
Anyway, Rat explores why it’s not a great idea to make deals with rodents during major weather events. And when you’re at your isolated cabin and a major snowstorm is on the way- heed your wife’s advice and come back to civilization.
This collection included plenty of Constant Reader mentions:
Derry
Shawshank Prison
Castle Rock
Gunslinger
It was an excellent collection, and I can’t get enough Holly. Steve talked about how she started out as a small, minor character and her presence just grew and grew. I don’t know about the rest of the Constant Readers, but I’d totally read another Holly book. Hell, I’ll take a whole series at this point.
So, my final book is Later. I’ve got about 100 pages left to read and then that’s it... until April.

Please break out your detailed, extensive, itemized list of every single thing you hate about S3 of hoa
*cracks knuckles* don’t say i didn’t warn you
let’s start with some positives
Things I liked about S3
Patricia and Eddie ❤️
like I am a peddie bitch and they are the literal only reason I bothered to watch literally any snippets of S3 at all
Eddie being a fucking simp 💖
The Patricia and Jerome fake date makes me cackle literally every time, so put that in the plus column
KT’s cool I guess, she could’ve been an awesome add-on if you hadn’t like ripped everything else apart
Things I HATED about S3 - LITERALLY everything else
here’s the main problem that threw off literally everything: no Nina???? then LITERALLY what is the point. she was the fucking driving force. nothing felt right without her
and then doing that made you break up Nina and Fabian which???? why?????? the entire first 2 seasons were spent showing that they cared about each other most in the world you can’t just drop it like it never happened and didn’t matter
and then, subsequently, you had no idea what to do with Fabian all season. god I love him but he lost something, you did nothing with him; the guy who was the number 2 billed character in seasons 1 and 2 just felt like an afterthought. he just became an information bank which :(
you sent away Amber?? why would you do that??
I didn’t like Patricia and Eddie breaking up. Like damn @ HOA writers is it that hard to write people in an actual lasting relationship? you tend to focus on the chase and not the relationship. watching people navigate a loving and committed relationship is compelling, too. P&E are better as a kickass pair and should never have broken up
my extremely hot take: Eddie didn’t need to have powers. he didn’t need to be the osiris or whatever the fuck. listen I LOVE Eddie dearly but tbh I didn’t like a single thing about that whole thing. 1) the idea of him being Nina's “protector” just felt icky and wrong to me. 2) I loved the idea of Eddie being normal and having all these great qualities anyway. like just being a regular guy but STILL being as adventurous and protective and wanting to be a hero? beautiful. he didn’t need all this. he didn’t need to be “special.” it felt forced??? having Eddie do all the same things and having those same traits but without the powers or whatever just would have been absolutely beautiful to me
I have conflicting feelings about Eddie being sibuna leader. Maybe if they had built up to it then it would have made more sense, but it just felt really sudden and abrupt and a little forced. he’s not a BAD leader (dumb, but not bad) but god the vibes were just off
really this problem just stems from the you-abruptly-tossed-Nina-to-the-curb problem, god everything just felt WRONG without her, and idk how to forgive them or any of the subsequent decisions they made bc of it
idk how I feel about alfie/willow. the jury’s out on that one
the main mystery/sibuna plot was questionable at best. the whole sinners thing had its moments but overall, meh
FABIAN/MARA????? WTF?????? doesn’t make one lick of sense. nope. get it out of my sight. they could’ve been cool friends but if you wanted that then maybe you should have started it a season and a half earlier
don’t fucking talk to me about how much they absolutely DESTROYED Jerome’s character. Jerome is my absolute favorite character and I am absolutely DISTRAUGHT about what they did to him in S3. like all that development that happened? especially during season 2? GONE. oh, you wanted him to grow and change and develop and be a better person? nah, we’re gonna hit the reset button on that. wtf happened.
why the FUCK would you do that to Jerome/Mara. if I had my way, he absolutely NEVER would have cheated on her. with his season 2 development, him cheating wouldn’t have made any sense, but you erased all of that I guess. and maybe they don’t last but it certainly doesn’t go like THAT. like?? why did you write that?? he spent an ENTIRE TWO SEASONS falling for Mara and opening up to Mara as the person he trusted with intimate, sensitive parts of his life. he developed and grew to be a better person because of that relationship. EVERYTHING through the whole first two seasons was building up to them being together, them trusting each other and being each other’s person and I just don’t understand why you would do that. they made them do a complete 180 from their S2 personalities and nothing that happened made sense and I’m really upset about it
Jerome wasn’t involved in the mystery hardly at all?? like is it really a house of anubis season without Jerome being tangentially involved with the mystery on the other end, his storyline eventually merging with sibuna’s? he felt useless suddenly, and it made me extremely upset. Jerome is a really intriguing and dynamic character who does so many interesting things, and S3 reduced him to a cheating storyline. even if he’s not IN sibuna (which he SHOULD have been, but that’s a different rant), he should be involved in the sibuna plot!!!! i’m extremely upset about everything they did with Jerome
I hated the ENTIRE Mara/Joy/Willow/Jerome storyline. HATED it. The majority of the season was just “getting revenge on Jerome” and I just. hated it. every single part of it. you could have had so many better things for them to do. every time i’m rewatching I skip past every second of this storyline it’s boring, cringey, gross, and takes up far too much time.
I hate literally everything about Jerome/Joy it doesn’t make sense they don’t vibe; I can probably count the number of times they interacted before S3 on one hand; you literally could not pay me to watch footage of them get rid of it burn it with fire
Another hot take: KT and Joy should’ve been lesbians. specifically lesbians with each other, but definitely lesbians on their own. I get that nickelodeon probably wasn’t “allowed” to do that but. they should’ve been
KT didn’t need to drive a wedge between Patricia and Eddie, they could’ve all been friends with no problems. this DEFINITELY would not have been a problem if they’d let KT be a lesbian
there were MANY friendships that needed to be built upon. namely: Eddie/Fabian, Alfie/Fabian, Eddie/Jerome, Patricia/Alfie/Jerome as a trio, Patricia/KT, needed more Patricia/Mara
strengthen the Patricia/Joy and Alfie/Jerome bonds
man I just want everyone to be friends??? I love friendship
reiterating the things I hated most: they should NOT have broken up Patricia and Eddie, they should NOT have put KT between them, and they tbh should NOT have insinuated anything romantic there at all. TIRED of that shit. just let them be in love all season is that so hard
Fabian deserved better
JEROME DESERVED BETTER
burn the Fabian/Mara and Jerome/Joy pairings with fucking fire
should not have sent away Nina and Amber everything just felt wrong
there are SO many better choices they could have made. like....so many. @ HOA writers hire me to re-write the season
in conclusion: Patricia and Eddie being in love was the literal only good part of S3. fin.

Friend?
One Shot
Masterlist
Pairing: Jerome x Reader
Gender: Female
Genre: Fluff (?)
Warning: Mention of murder (?)
Summary:
-(Y/N) is an inmate at Arkham Asylum, preferring to keep to herself and her only want to get out of that hellhole. But what happens when she catches the attention of a certain red head?-
Tumblr media
(Y/N) let out a long sigh, plopping her head down onto the metal table she had seated at. Day 17 at Arkham. All she had to prove that she was sane, which shouldn’t be too hard, considering she was. But, alas, her psychiatrist didn’t think so. The creep. He probably only wanted her to stay so he can continue to ogle at her and have an excuse to brush his disgusting hand over hers. It made her wanna chop it off, sometimes.
Now, now. She truly wasn’t crazy. But taking the insanity plea was better than wasting away at Blackgate for 20 or so years. She figured she’d be out of Arkham in no time. But the more days (Y/N) spent wasting here, the more she doubted she’d get to leave anytime soon.
The slop on her tray forgotten, she lifted her head to place an elbow on the table to support her head as she gazed around almost lazily. It was full of crazies and psychos in here. Serial killers, cannibals, rapists... (Y/N) shivered at the thought of it. She didn’t have any strong opinions against murder, considering the reason why she was there in the first place, but she certainly didn’t want to be the object of those dark thoughts.
It was difficult, though. Being a woman in Arkham made it hard to stay unnoticed. Men, and even some other girls, seemed to watch (Y/N) every time she entered a room. Not because she was drop dead gorgeous, at least she didn’t think she was, but because they were thirsty, horny, and, oh alright, she wasn’t a terrible sight to look at, but she just couldn’t believe there was anything special about her.
(Y/N) tried to avoid the other inmates, mostly. It would do no good to get buddy- buddy, and do even less good if she were to get on bad terms with some of these people. If she stayed away, she’d be okay.
That’s why, when her (E/C) gaze caught the eyes of another, a dark green gaze framed by dark red lashes, standing out against pale skin... she instantly looked away, down at her tray, biting her lip gently in slight panic. They didn’t think she was staring, right? Oh jeez, please don’t come over.
(Y/N) squeezed her eyes shut as she heard a shuffle from that direction, then footsteps. Please be walking away, please please please?
Nope. Quite the opposite, in fact.
“Hi, gorgeous.” A boyish voice sounded above her, and she felt the table shake as someone jumped over the seat next to her, settling down beside (Y/N).
The girl slowly opened her eyes, plastering on a fake smile. Don’t piss other inmates off, (Y/N). She turned towards the male, taking him in. Oof. The male looked more boy than man, with boyish features and body shape. Lanky, but she could tell that he had lean muscle hidden under those stripes. Pale skin, freckles scattered across his face. Catching her attention, her gaze flickered up to his fiery red hair, combed neatly into place, or at least attempted to be. It gave off untamable vibes, strands of fire falling over his forehead, leading (Y/N) to his facial features once again. Not gonna lie, cute nose. It wasn’t too small or too big, and his pink lips were boyishly thin, stretched into a wide smile. While the smile seemed to portray the male had ‘friendly’ intentions, she couldn’t help but be unsettled by it, yet some part of her drawn in, nonetheless.
“Anybody home?” (Y/N) was broken out of her trance as he spoke once more, his words trailing off into a short, contagious giggle. (Y/N) felt her cheeks flame in embarrassment as she realized she was staring, and ducked her head before meeting his gaze once again.
“Er, yeah, sorry.” The girl breathed, and cleared her throat cautiously. “Can I help you?” (Y/N) inquiried, gazing at him curiosly.
“Sure ya can, Doll. You can start off with telling me your name.” He hummed, leaning forwards slightly, his eyes sparkling mischievously.
“Didn’t you know it’s rude to ask for someones name before giving your own?” (Y/N) shot back without thinking, and she internally face palmed at her stupidity. Why would they care about manners? We’re in Arkham for goodness sake.
Surprisingly, the males grin only widened, and he placed a hand over his heart, his eyes turning mockingly apologetic. “Oh, how rude of me! The name’s Jerome. I hope you can forgive such that grievous mistake on my part.” Jerome chuckled, teasing her. Well, too late to turn back now.
“We’ll see about that.” She responded, and he tilted his head slightly, one eyebrow raised before she continued. “I’m (Y/N).” Instinctively, she reached a hand out for him to shake, but, with a glimmer in his eyes, Jerome took her hand and raised it to his lips, placing a gentle kiss to the back of her hand. Letting out a soft, nervous laugh, (Y/N) took her hand back and placed it on her lap.
“Nice meeting ya, (Y/N). Whatcha in for?” He pressed on casually, as if he was asking about what she was eating. Ah, right. Couldn’t forget she was surrounded by maniacs.
“Ah...just...murder.” More specifically, her ex boyfriend and ex best friend, even though they were her boyfriend and best friend at the time they decided to bang each other. She didn’t mean to kill them, but things escalated, and once she grabbed a knife and drew blood, it was like something else took over her body. She liked the feeling, and that’s what scared her the most.
“No way! Me too! Chopped up my mom.” He replied almost enthusiastically. “She deserved it, though.” He added, his boyish tone discarded and replaced with a type of darkness, his eyes darkening and his smile suddenly appeared to be more sinister. What the frick?
“I’m sure she did, Jerome.” (Y/N) responded after a couple of seconds, trying to gauge his change of attitude. It disappeared in a flash, though, returning back to the bubbly personality he had before.
“Ya know, a girl as pretty as you is sure to attract attention around here.” He continued, propping his head up on his fist. “I thought you might wanna have a friend by your side, (Y/N).” Jerome hummed, blinking innocently up at her. Had she just imagined all of that?
“A friend?” She questioned, furrowing her eyebrows. She didn’t need a friend. She just wanted to keep to herself and get out of here. “Thanks, but I’m good.”
“Aw, come on. Everyone needs a friend! See that big handsome fella staring at you like you’re fried chicken?” Almost reluctant to turn and look, (Y/N) followed Jeromes gaze to see an older looking man, indeed checking her out. Eesh.
“Yeah? What about him?” She inquired, instantly looking away and back to Jerome, wondering what he had in mind. She was used to the staring.
“Richard Sionis. He’s a millionaire. Got his own airplane, got a boat with a hot tub on it. And he killed twenty five people-.” Jerome gave a tiny chuckle at that. “Just for fun.” Why was he telling her this?
“Am I supposed to be scared or something?” (Y/N) huffed. For some reason, this whole exchange had fueled her with the confidence to actually speak up for herself. So that’s what this was? She was a damsel in distress to him?
Jerome grinned at that, turning to face her more clearly, angling his whole body towards her. “So. He likes you.” He chuckled, and she lifted an eyebrow, feeling her own smirk play at her lips from watching the male smile so much. What was with this dude? “He wants to be your friend.”
She spared another glance over to the man, and caught his gaze running over my body. (Y/N) fought back a cringe and turned to lean closer to Jerome. “But I don’t wanna be his friend.” She murmured, frowning. “I don’t know about you, but he doesn’t seem like the... friendly type, if you know what I’m saying.”
Jerome giggled, before whispering, almost like they were on some secret mission, “That’s why you could use a different friend, to protect you from guys like him.” He persevered. Hmm. He had a point. She didn’t exactly need protecting, but extra armor couldn’t hurt. (Y/N) analyzed him once more. But how would that Richard guy know that she even had a fr- ohhhhhh.... well, public displays worked. She just hoped she was on the same page as him. And if not... ah, well, let’s just hope they are.
“Mm... I see.” She murmured softly, letting her gaze travel down to his lips and back, leaning in closer. Jerome blinked in mild surprise as he felt her hands delicately run up his chest, her nails trailing over his neck before resting her thumb on his jawline. “So will you be my friend, Jerome?” (Y/N) asked with a slight purr to her tone, batting her eyelashes innocently up at him. His smile had faltered slightly, his eyes trailing down to her lips and back, his breathing becoming shallower.
He didn’t get to reply before she finally connected their mouths, brushing her lips over his softly before pulling back, his body automatically leaning forwards to try and stay in contact. (Y/N) let out a smug hum as he pressed his mouth to hers eagerly as she ran her free hand through his already untamed locks, grabbing onto it and tugging gently, enticing an almost inaudible groan to to fall from his lips.
It was over quickly, perhaps quicker than (Y/N) would have liked. The girl pushed against his chest lightly, tilting her head away from his as he caught his breath. She was used to kissing, her ex had loved to drag her into bed anytime he could, even if she didn’t feel like it. But to her surprise, Jerome was quiet, a large smile taking over his face. Little did she know, that was his first kiss.
Sneaking a look over at Sionis, he could see the man looking away, a disappointed expression on his face. Huh. That was easier than expected.
Turning back to face Jerome, she saw he was now gazing at her, clearly amused. “You’re bad...” he muttered, and for a moment, she couldn’t think of anything to say in reply. Bad in what way? Bad bad? Good bad? Was bad bad a bad thing? Was good bad a bad thing?
Luckily, she didn’t have to sort out her thoughts and reply, because the bell signaling that lunch was over rang out through the room.
Without another word, her mind struggling to figure out what had just flipping happened, she stood up and strode away, not even bothering to spare a glance behind her.
If he was serious about her being his ‘friend’, then he should be following like a lost puppy.

microscope, mixtape, ufo, and parachute for Angel please!!
okay....This one’s quiiiiite lengthy sorry about that 😅😅😅
Thanks for the ask! ♥️
Hope y’all like this one~
microscope: zoom in – describe the little, insignificant details about an OC.
Angel loves Thai iced tea and sweet drinks! He only drinks coffee for the caffeine but doesn’t actually like coffee (he prefers his with a lot of sugar/flavoring to cover up the bitter coffee taste)
Angel wishes he could have a pet but is scared he might hurt them with his bad mood swings
He secretly loves and wants plushies. He also has an attachment to them but never admits it because he’s “too old” for them.
His type is brunette, charming, suave, rich/wealthy men (not literally but is a nice add on yk~) , with light colored eyes (coincidentally it sounds like John but he can’t stand him)
Actually acts out/badly for a bit of attention he usually does it for shits and giggles but does it to receive a reaction out of someone whether it be from the person he’s talking to or the audience watching
He actually wishes people gave him more affection and reassurance. He never truly knows how much his friends appreciate him an a lot of times he feels like they don’t much. He doesn’t tell them the truth though because he doesn’t want to come off as jealous, needy or as an “attention seeker”
Likes dressing feminine more than masculine. He absolutely HATES men’s clothing Hawaiian shirts, turtlenecks, tuxedos/formal wear are the only exceptions (he would pretend to like the boxes of men’s clothing he would receive from friends as gifts. Would never even wear them. Maybe once if he doesn’t want to hurt their feelings)
Canonically he is “blonde” but he’s actually a brunette (light brown hair) but likes to dye his hair blonde instead
ufo: identity! what are some key identifying qualities or traits of your OC(s)? how to they identify in regards to gender/sexuality?
Special Qualities: his personality. Angel has a very unique personality compared to everyone he knows. He has this funny, mean/sarcastic, chill vibe to him. He always teases and plays around with his friends, not to mention he’s quite blunt and honest with anyone (even more harsh to people who annoy him). And though he seems like a small angry chihuahua at times, he’s a real sweetheart to everyone. He is never afraid to try anything new, no matter now fucking crazy or dangerous it may be he’s totally down to do it. That’s why both Eden’s Gate and the Resistance fear
Good Traits: He’s comedic (even at the worst times or when you need it), is the best at throwing house parties (even at 30 years old), he can help you with any favor it doesn’t even matter what it is (almost impossible to ask him of something he can’t do), he’ll take care of you when you’re sick/hungover/injured/depressed/having a panic attack, he’s a great cook and willing to share whatever he makes with anyone (if there’s enough), and he’s always generous (a big gift giver)
Bad Traits: He can a bit overly aggressive/rude (sometimes accidentally), he’s bad at remembering/keeping tract of things (he knows everyone’s favorite animal but totally forgets their birthdays and/or names), tends to crack under too much (bad) pressure and become extremely aggressive or violent, holds in his true feelings and emotions, has really bad mood swings, can be easy to piss off, can be too loud (mouthed) at times
Sexuality: Gay (attracted to men)
Gender identity: depends on the way he dresses/his mood normally he prefers he/him/they/them but if he dresses more feminine (wears makeup, tight dresses, feminine accessories) you could call him by she/him, or even they/them. (No pronoun preferences when he cross dresses)
#squad: who’s friends with who? what are the squad dynamics like?
Angel has few friends outside Hope County. The main people he’s friends with are Mary May, Jerome, Staci Pratt, Sharky Boshaw, Hurk Drubman Jr, Adelaide, Faith Seed, the Angel Twins (Jeremiah and Isaiah), the Whitetails, and a few of the peggies of Eden’s Gate
The only squads that Angel are apart of are
Sharky + Hurk = The Bomb Squad
Peggies = Eden’s “Gays”
Angel, Sharky, and Hurk are like the best and worst pairing. They’re all sweet, funny, and humble but can be obnoxious and destructive as FUCK. Anytime they go somewhere to find/finish some mission. It always ends in them leaving a trail of either, fire, gunpowder, or an explosion of some sort (either vehicle, silo, bliss tank, or outpost/building). Don’t even ask or mention what they do for leisure time. More crazy stunts and tricks that could put any normal person with a normal brain in the ER in critical condition. And at the bar? Jesus Christ. They order enough alcohol to kill 5 men but somehow make it through the night. And if they aren’t drinking, they’re sure as hell smoking weed or whatever the fuck Sharky has been brewing in his trailer (it’s most likely a 50/50 chance that you’ll pass out or die from it). They’re definitely one crazy ass group, nothing you would ever even expect, not even out of a crazy...Hollywood...Michael Bay movie. A feminine Latino city gay, an old cheery bomb-rocket enthusiast, and a insane pyromaniac that has a warrant. There definitely isn’t a dull moment with these three. But...you’re good as gone if you’re stuck with them for more than 11 minutes.
Angel and the Eden’s “Gays” are a pretty decent sized group of 6 men (plus the Twins some days) that are the few queer men of Eden’s Gate. Originally they seemed quite closeted because of the cult’s religion and some of its rules. But with Angel around they soon became another loud, obnoxious group of men. Before the whole group was “founded” the original 6 peggies (including John Seed himself) didn’t like Angel at all because of how loud and “out” he seemed (not to mention the carelessness). But as Angel visited the bunkers more often (after he was kidnapped by John) they slowly grew fond of him. Angel would always do kind gestures to learn more about Eden’s followers by helping them with chores, tasks, bringing them food and treats from outside the compound (though he wasn’t supposed to), and even help them find comfort in their own troubles. Though Angel liked a lot of the members he really favored 6 different followers in particular Connor, Michael, Anthony, Jace, and Jefferey (those who were the first followers he interacted with). Now they’re known as Eden’s Gays troublemakers. They sneak out to the Spread Eagle to drink, host secret parties in Hope County, and smoke as well. There isn’t a moment where they aren’t breaking the cult’s rules. They’re the only group of peggies some of the resistance members trust mostly because Angel made a rule of not attacking or harming them and actually enjoy being around. They’re definitely always getting into trouble with both sides too, much like Angel, starting small fights during church/sermons, fooling around on the job, or going around Hope County not to attack the locals but pester the living shit out of them. They almost stop being violent mean peggies and instead just become this goofy comedic group of young men. (Fun Fact: the “Eden’s Gays” were actually a thing before the cult became hostile *during its first few years in Hope County* and John was mostly the “leader” of the crazy group)
mixtape: 5 songs that describe your OC(s) or songs they themselves would like.
Ohohohooooo~
(The possibilities are endless for this one so I’m sticking to a Baddie playlist he would listen to)
May I ~ Flo Mili
Literal Legend ~ Ayesha Erotica
Yikes ~ Nicki Minaj
I like it ~ Cardi B
Sway With Me ~ Saweetie & GALAXARA
parachute: who does your OC(s) trust the most? who makes them feel safe? who would they do absolutely anything for?
Missy (my U.S. Marshal oc), is one of the few people he trusts the most. During the time from when he was arrested to when he was released out of jail (and transferring to Hope County Jail), she was always like a mother figure to him. And though she was supposed to investigate Angel’s murder and drug charges, she treated him kindly and respect, instead of a criminal. Without Missy, Angel might as well been as good as dead since she was the one that helped him move to a psychiatric ward instead of federal prison after discovering who he really was. Even after he was released, Missy still treated him as if he was her own son. She allowed him to stay at her penthouse apartment when Angel told her his father had disown him and he had no where to go. She always cared about him, made sure he ate, drank water, took care of himself, and even helped him get a better mindset. Though Angel still teases Missy by calling her “Mama Bear (Missy)” or “Mother Goose (or hen)” he’s forever grateful she was always there for him.

S5 Review pt.1 : the Good
Arthur season is over, time to analyze it as a finished story ! This meta in 3 parts will go over the good, the bad and the mindboggling. My general impression of the season : excellent beginning, very meh middle, interesting ending. In short :  flawed but I feel people calling it a total disaster really are not making any effort to see it objectively. So ; let's dig into the why and how.
What I liked about this season :
A story made with and for Deaf people : It’s pretty evident when watching the interviews that Winona and Lucas really really enjoyed making the season and that it offered them an unprecedented level of representation. The creators obviously did their research, working with the people of the IVT. Personally I feel like I learned so much and the clips showing aspects of Deaf culture were among my favorites. It felt like a nuanced, rich, in-depth perspective, with details like choosing to get a cochlear implant or not, the testimony evening, the sign language class, Noee’s sign dance, the different ways to enjoy music, how to speak to someone who is Deaf, etc...showing that not everyone within that community has the same story or opinion, that they’re just people with their unique challenges but shared needs, as well as the really awesome culture that is part of being Deaf. It felt really respectful and a thousand miles away from the usual miserabilistic clichés - it brought up some concern about how difficult it is to be rejected/invisible in today’s society, but it was balanced with emotions like curiosity, admiration, and awe. I came to SKAM for the representation but I absolutely love getting educated about groups I’m not part of and I feel this is truly where the season shines. Learning from Deaf fans was also hella interesting.
A complex discussion about disability : A central plot point, and one of my favorites, was Arthur learning to overcome his (now internalized) ableism. We see that Arthur is an overachiever and this change in his life upsets this idea of the perfect life he has in mind. He repeadedly lashes out at the other Deaf people he meets, makes fun of sign language, underlines how he is ‘not like them’ at the beginning because he is still clinging to his own self image. We can understand where this comes from when we see how condescending towards any sort of weakness, and focused on performance over empathy his father is. But as he learns to meet actual Deaf people and see the diversity and beauty of the community, he learns there is no shame in that sort of difference and learns to stand up for himself and that was amazing to see. Another important part was Laura and Melchior’s inclusion and beyond being very funny, they highlighted the idea that although disabled people have different, sometimes competing needs, they also have things in common, and that deep wish of not being discounted/othered/excluded. All the disabled characters this season were complex, real people, not there just to teach others a lesson or inspire them or be pitied or the butt of a joke, and that is so sadly rare nowadays. Even though some bits did feel a bit like a PSA, I feel like overall it was very well done.
The politics of desirability : A theme running through the season is the idea that who we are attracted to is socially constructed and can really be biased by our prejudices. Alexia expressed this idea (albeit clumsily) in the bar scene early on, and this came back when she talked about her insecurities. This was also present in Laura’s insistence that disabled people have certain needs like everybody else. And finally, it’s present in Arthur’s own struggles - his fear of not being able to sleep with his girlfriend with his hearing aids, and his own difficulties in seeing what is happening with Noee and him saying ‘she’s deaf’ to the question ‘is she beautiful’ even as he is obviously into her. Our society gives us this incredibly narrow set of criteria for who is considered attractive - thin, white, able bodied, etc - but people’s actual real patterns of attraction and finding beauty are, when you set those prejudices aside, and see the beauty of people for who they are and not how well they fit a box, so much more broad and generous and diverse and I loved how this season highlighted that.
Technical excellence : God, the cinematography this season was absolutely off the charts, it makes me wish they could redo previous seasons with this amount of style. Shots like Arthur under the shower, or that party at the Asso with the blurry dancing, the shots in the pool, or the ones from the farm episode...INCREDIBLE. The sound editing was used sooooo well to put us in Arthur’s shoes, it was a wonder and I really felt how intense the change must have been for him because of that. And the acting is impeccable. You can really feel how well these actors know their characters by now, they have total mastery of their portrayal. Robin did an awesome job with tough scenes, but just...everyone was on their best game really.
A nuanced portrayal of abuse : Arthur’s relationship with his father was thouroughly heartbreaking, and it felt very real. I am very grateful that they didn’t try to redeem him - it’s important to show that even if you are trying your best, some people are toxic abusers and the best thing you can do is take your distance. I felt it right away, in the subtle way he was dismissing and belittling his wife and son, in the ways he was asserting his control over them, and I wasn’t surprised at all when more came out. It surprised me in the beginning that so many people were arguing that the father was caring, just strict - I feel like the signs were so obvious but I guess that’s the point. Abuse is a pattern that becomes visible over time and abusers can be perfectly charming and reasonable to people who don’t know what it’s like. Growing up with that is isolating and terrifying and it does awful things to your self esteem and your capacity to be in tune with your feelings. We can see that when Arthur basically defends his father’s actions because he is still so eager to have his love and placate him. Arthur’s behavior did not come from nowhere and it was inspiring to see him grow past that and realize he did not have to perpetuate the pattern and make his own choices. Also, his relationship with his mom was very sweet, supportive (her smoking weed with him was awesome) but complex - the way he was mean to her sometimes, condescending bc of her lack of studies ; the way she blamed herself for not seeing sooner - she must have been subjected to Patrick’s more emotional abuse, and so she will probably feel like she should have reacted sooner or known and that’s like...painful ugh. This whole thing was so raw and real. And it was incredibly important to see the nurse and her Jerome - adults, with medical knowledge - see Arthur’s situation and tell him that sometimes you just have to leave.
Highs and lows of friendship : Basile !!!! I was not a fan in s3 but the great aspect of POV shift is allowing us to see some characters through a different angle - even though I think Basile went through a lot of growth too. In Lucas’s season he was meant to be the annoying gross overly straight guy as a contrast - but for Arthur he is this devoted friend that is so open and sincere in his affection that his awkwardness comes off as endearing instead. You really understand why those two are friends : Arthur is smart, sarcastic, he can help Basile with social awareness and hype him up, but he’s also so painfully guarded and finds it hard to express emotion, I think, and it makes sense he loves Basile’s spontaneity and big heart. Meeting his grandfather was also so funny and endearing, as were all the marks of more physical affection he wasn’t afraid to show Arthur. I think having a friend like that is part of what allows Arthur to finally stand up on his own - whether against his father or deciding he needs to be single to figure himself out. As for the Gang in general, I loved the moments where they were all happy together (the early graffiti clip is truly one of the shining moments of the season for me) but their later spat is also quite understandable to me. I find it very realistic that although they are trying their best to accomodate their new friend’s disability, they’re going to mess up, that’s part of the process. The most important thing, I think, when faced with someone who is different from you, is to engage with it (respectfully) - ask questions, not assume. And communicate ffs.  I also really liked those moments where the Crew and Gang came together, it gave this big end of high school vibe where all the squads merge and there is this feeling of having gone through an ordeal together that makes everyone closer.  There were also so many funny moments  that were absolute gold (the wheelbarrow ! the dinosaur balloons ! Imane getting attacked by chickens ! Emma and her horse! ).
Arthur on his own : I liked the more introspective moments we got this season. The successive alarms while he was angsting about his hearing coming back were such a clever way to put us in his perspective - there is already a lot of stress linked to a morning alarm, isn’t there ? We all know that moment in the morning where we don’t want to get out of bed and face the world, and taking that emotion and adding Arthur’s absolute stress at realizing that this change is lasting, it was really effective. Arthur’s link to water, as a symbol of another world where sound is much more diffuse, is quite interesting too. And the moment in last episode where he puts his glasses back on, too, as a more obvious sign of a disability that is very socially accepted and that is just part of who he is, just as his hearing loss is. We also got a moment with the bench of loneliness that was an interesting parallel with s3. (I love how the Buttes-Chaumont parc has become this double symbol in Skam France of both loneliness/alienation/putting on a mask and growth/return to authenticity.) And I like that he ended up the season single and deciding to figure himself out. It’s a big aspect of his character that he has spent too much time trying to conform to expectations and that he was super walled off as a result, that he hurt others without realizing, that he found himself boring, that he didn’t seem to open up to his friends, etc...and in the end he is a lot more open but he also knows there is a part of growth that being in a relationship cannot bring him. He can’t use women the way his father did. I respect that a lot, honestly, it’s what saved the end of the season for me, that they didn’t end up putting one girl above the other and made it about Arthur being lost and needing to find his way on his own.
The tornado and the sunshine : The new characters were awesome. Her role in the plot set aside, I really liked Noée as a character concept. I think Winona was awesome, and I liked Noée’s mix of warmth and feistiness. I like that they let her be angry at the way the world treated her, and compassionate at the same time. Also her headbutting that guy in the club that didn’t want to listen to her was !!! iconic. I loved her style, too, and that dance was so beautiful. Camille was a great addition to the team too, Arthur was lucky to find someone that patient and his dry humor but sunny disposition were great too. It was cute to see him with Mika as a couple of gurus - that we did get a Deaf/hearing couple was a good addition to the season, I think - and I hope we’ll see both of those new characters next season, too.
Queen Alexia : She was definitely one of the characters I had the most emotions for this season. She’s just so cool and her perspective on life is just so mature and interesting, her acceptance of herself and others so inspiring - a lot of the early clips with her were adorable. I loved how supportive she was in such a creative, playful way - that game she made for Arthur, the boards she brought, etc. The moments she talked about her insecurities, if bittersweet because of what happened later, remains one of my faves from the season. She was so beautiful framed by rainbows (also apparently that’s her sign name ? Amazing.) And the moment where she sings was just...oof. She was really brave and strong to be able to do that, to express her emotions and hurt in such a public, dignified and creative way. It was a moment of reckoning for Arthur, putting him on the spot and recognizing how much he hurt her, but it was done in such a graceful way - the way she signed to signal her acceptance of his Deafness, the reminder that she loves him and won’t be able to forget that immediately, and a rejoinder to recognize his feelings towards Noee, etc. She wasn’t perfect (organizing that meeting without asking really pushed it a bit too far - you can’t rush someone else’s self acceptance) but she was just ...really good.
Elu as an established couple : One of my biggest reproaches to s3 is that they didn’t give us enough fluff after all the drama (time constraints, I know, etc.) But this season they really delivered. And listen I know some fans love to blather about fanservice but fuck it, I just love seeing a healthy domestic queer couple on screen !!!! It’s just so bloody healing, because they feel real and in love like nothing I have ever seen on screen before. Maybe because so often straight actors are so awkward at playing queer intimacy and they’re really not. Seeing them in their new appartment was like a pure shot of serotonin - morning croissants ! fairylights everywhere ! but I also liked that it wasn’t too fluffy one note. We can still see that Eliott struggles with MI, that Lucas has some insecurities, but yet their devotion to each other is still as strong, as in “he’s my boyfriend and I love him.” It was a hopeful note throughout the season, Lucas being persistent and devoted all through the challenges of being with someone who is mentally ill. Also, I really liked Eliott’s role this season, as a sort of...provider for the Gang ? Getting them a van, bringing them to the cool graffiti place, making this fresque for them...you can feel he’s not 100% part of the gang because he’s older, already in college, etc, but at the same time he has sort of an observer role that can give them things no one else can. I feel like Lucas confided in him about the troubles they were going through and Eliott can empathize with being treated different, the fear of losing your friends...so Eliott helped them in his unique way, through art. And him having this new secret place he can bring more people to, and so full of color and sharing his art with people and !!!! God I’m emo he’s just my fave character ever really.
The pressure of the future : Listen the last year of high school in France is horrible, there is the pressure from the BAC + half the people are passing entrance exams and doing interviews for the stuff you want to do later and it’s so stressful and I’m glad they touched on that at least a little. Emma really embodied this theme this season, of the pressure of not wanting to know what you want to do later. It’s really when you realize that they’re all so young and being asked to make such big decisions for their entire lives is really sort of fucked up, and I think her being there is a way to dedramatize not knowing, and gives Arthur the freedom to see he doesn’t want to be a doctor ; I liked the apt comparison with Imane’s passion for medecine. I wish we’d seen more of Arthur figuring out his real passion (did he make that painting or what ?) but I appreciated this storyline.
Overall, I think this season was full of excellent moments - either funny, heartwarming, heartbreaking, or edifying - and it provided some much needed quality representation for the Deaf community. In that, and having educated a lot of people, it is at least somewhat a success. However, as a whole, it did not quite come together for me, which is what I will analyze in my next post.

Felix in this au is nicknamed Lixie, a nickname given to him by his father that's stuck with him ever since; he actually prefers this over being called Felix. Unlike Og Felix, Lixie does not care for Applesoft nor being the heir to Applesoft; as a way to be rebellious and piss off some people, Lixie dyed his hair blue; which was the first time his father actually yelled at him. Though after some time, his family got used to Lixie's antics and the whole rebellious thing. Well everyone except for Theodore.
Lixie is very sassy person, even sassier aged up if I'm being honest. He acts vv childish and teasing towards others. Unlike Og Felix, Lixie actually understands what sarcasm is.

Au where the Kindergarten 1 characters swap roles with the Kindergarten 2 characters. Ex; Penny swap with Jerome, Ron swap with Nugget, Cindy swap with Carla, ect.
In this au, Felix swaps with Lily while Ted swaps with Billy. He is still very much so the heir to Applesoft, but after his brother went missing, Lex couldn't focus until he was able to find Ted and makes things right; plus his parents were extremely worried as well. Before Ted went missing, Lex treated him almost the exact same as Og Felix does.

This is an au where it's kindergarten but it's not. Meaning personalities are different, most relationships are different, ect.
Here in this au, Felix comes from a family that's not fortunate with money. He's one of the quiet and smarter kids, usually displaying a monotonous and emotionless fascade. He's protective of Ted and ACTUALLY ACTS LIKE A GOOD OLDER BROTHER SKSKKS. Anyway, he has a bad relationship with his mom while his relationship with his dad is..pretty neutral? He genuinely does care about his father.
One word why he doesn't like his mom; Experiments

Saw a comment on youtube that said "If kindergarten is this fucked, imagine how bad the other grades are" and then this au was born.
Bascially, if Kg1&2 were set in High School instead of Kindergarten. Felix still pretty much remains the same, except for a few parts, and his fashion? Still a businessman.

This was originally supposed to be just the storyline of another show, but like..that show started sucking for me and so I'm making my own storyline for it instead of copying what it was inspired by, while still keeping the things I liked about the og show.
Anyway, Felix here is a 20 year old adult and he hunts supernatural things with Ted. He used to be heir to Applesoft, but shit happened, home burned down and everything went terrible. He acts a lot like a father and other brother to those younger than him, and he's a lot protective of Ted.

This is a killer au. Felix in this au catches his father killing someone, and instead of being freaked out and screaming, Felix instead decided to join him in his murderous schemes. Before all this, Henry tended to ignore Felix all the time. All Felix wanted to do was get noticed by his own father, and now? He's found a way to get himself noticed, a way for Henry to not treat Felix as if he was invisible.
He didn't care if he got called a nuisance everytime he tried to get himself involved in Henry's plans, it was way better than not being noticed at all.
THIS IS SUCH AN ANGSTY AU HFHAJS MY OG HENRY IS NOTHING LIKE AFF! HENRY I SWEAR-
Lost! Felix
Tagged: Verse; Lost
Lost used to be apart of an au, he doesn't remember what it was supposed to be like; all he remembers is an empty void and..someone, someone he trusted; someone that abandoned him. Lost suddenly got the ability to break out of this au, thus becoming an entity in the process.
Lost doesn't understand nor be able to speak many words due to isolation in his au. If you want him to be able to understand you, you're going to have to speak to him like he's a baby trying to learn his first words. Lost is very protective of those he deems as friends and family, he's powerful but he doesn't use his powers that much unless he was very angered.
Lost kinda just; roams around aus and vibe in them. There is a LOT to say about him but here's a few things; he's unable to feel physical pain, he's difficult to kill, he doesn't need food, sleep, or water to survive.

alright i watched the whole third season of House of Anubis
I first have to say how much I enjoyed the leads: Eddie and KT. They have such a good chemistry and they’re honestly hilarious together. As I mentioned before, I did ship them together when I was younger and first watched the show but with watching it again, I would keep them as friends. Best friends. (especially since KT is hella gay I don’t care what anyone says) They totally give me Cloak and Dagger vibes, especially in terms of partnership. At the start of the show, they were alone, they had no one to confide in, no one to be with, Eddie was torn about letting Sibuna know about Nina, still not over Patricia. KT just lost her grandfather and came to England on a quest with some key and vague warnings, she was hella confused but still did so out of loyalty to her grandfather (this baby is too precious and good for this world, i swear). And next thing you know, fate and Osirian visions bring them together. They form a partnership, they snoop around the Gatehouse, they form a bond. And I love it so much. What I love especially, is that at the end, when the sinners are everywhere and even the Sibuna members are taken as sinners, it’s down to Eddie and KT, just like the beginning. Sure, they get help from Willow and Harriet, but they lose Willow pretty quickly, and right at the end, Harriet sacrifices herself so they can get the other key and lock away the evil for good. And together, Eddie and KT join the keys and lock the evil as one. They started together, and they ended it together, and I think that was really poetic. I know that the Osirian and the Chosen One are meant to be the pair and the Ying & Yang, but in this particular case, Eddie and KT were a bond formed by friendship and hardship rather than destinies planned or written in the stars by the gods, yes fate brought them together, but only because they knew they could only accomplish their tasks with each other. I especially loved when they took down Ammut, and Robert tried a last ditch attempt to get KT to feel guilty over doing this, telling her that he would die if Ammut was locked away. It brings in KT’s loyalty to her family, even when it’s bad, but then Eddie yells during the commotion, “Don’t trust him, trust me!” And I think it really brings a full circle what a great partnership and bond they have.
Other than that, it’s really just random stuff I liked
i liked that Willow could sense bad vibes that Robert had whenever he was around Anubis House, as well as sensing the bad vibes that sinner!Victor and sinner!Patricia gave off. I kinda wished they could’ve looked more into that. Like she was naturally sensitive to these things or something.
Her relationship with Alfie was a nice touch, seeing him with someone who liked the same things that he did was real cute. Especially seeing them happy.
Victor and Sweet playing that card game gave me life.
Joy’s new attitude and look were certainly appreciated
While I preferred the Jerome that developed in S2 and won Mara over (especially over the course of the first season and second, i mean talk about a slow burn done right) and rather he didn’t cheat on her and Willow, the Joy+Jerome ship wasn’t terrible. I much prefer the developed S2 Jerome, I’ve said this twice now, but again, it wasn’t terrible. (but real talk? KT and Joy should’ve happened)
Amber being the one to bring Sibuna and the pair Eddie & KT together because *Amber Millington voice* “Hello people! Isn’t it obvious? Work together.”
Like that girl knew what was up. Well, she did invent Sibuna, not surprised.
Alfie was perfection this season, leave him be. Also, highlights of him:
“Crypts are for dead people!” “I’m afraid of everything.” “Guys, go! Get out of here! Sibuna! SIBUNNAAA!!”
I already talked plenty of Eddie and KT being the best, so yeah. But imma do it again anyway.
I have a theory that Eddie focused his primary Osirian instinct of being protective over the Chosen One to being protective over KT. Like he reffocused his powers to someone else for the time being. Nina wasn’t there, and when KT showed up in his vision it was almost like the house was telling him “You need to help her now. Keep her safe.” And I really like that.
It was especially shone a lot through out the season, and the last episodes too.
When sinner!Patricia and sinner!Fabian had KT and wanted to exchange an artifact that Eddie had discovered, she told him to run and get away, like they did when Alfie told them to leave him behind. And he says, “That was Alfie, this is you.”
And when Eddie, KT, Willow and Harriet went to get the sun key from Caroline, and she managed to take KT and Willow and turn them into sinners, Eddie says, “Not KT,” very worriedly. Later on he’s hard on himself, “I can’t believe they got to KT.”
It was interesting that half the season was awakening the man in the tank and the other half was releasing evil into the world. Like a different feel for half the season, not many shows do that.
I kinda despise the fact that the things I didn’t like are probably going to be longer.
Let’s go paragraph first so, how about that plot? First off, the whole thing is very weird for Sibuna. The first two seasons were about riddles and thinking things through. They were real mysteries. In this, it was more direct, they had an obvious problem, they had to stop the bad guys from waking up a bad guy, and then literal evil converted their own friends against each other. It sounds super interesting for a Vampire Diaries or Teen Wolf or even My Babysitter’s A Vampire plot line (or just one episode) since those shows were more active based. This season barely had any hidden things or riddles, and half of it had Sibuna paranoid and working against each other which I’m sure no one really loved. Not to mention that the action mainly happened at the Gatehouse rather than the actual Anubis House, the center for two of the last mysteries. Now I know, I know, the new season couldn’t just be a copy, and having a third mystery with hidden compartments over the house would certainly be a lot for Robert and Louisa. But I mean, didn’t Het Huis Anubis have four seasons? They couldn’t just do their version of that? I’m guessing that they did something different (I really hope so, because if not, this is embarrassing)
things i did not like at all about this season
the fact that they twisted Mara’s character up in their new ‘messed up girl obsessed with a boy’ like Joy in S2. just- why?
the fact that they undid a bunch of Jerome’s development.
or how about the fact that all Jerome got to do this season was be part of a love triangle cheat fest and then a love drama with Joy. In S1 he shoved himself into Sibuna and Rufus and it was bad for him, but he was involved. And S2, he was just amazing, they managed to connect his family and his family troubles with something that Sibuna would’ve needed for the Mask of Anubis: the Frobisher Gem. It all came together perfectly.
we didn’t get anything of Mr. Sweet telling Eddie about his Osirian thing or their family history.
The way they treated KT when they thought she was evil. It was so messed up, honestly, that poor baby. (though I did appreciate that the other residents noticed, like at breakfast when she sat down and no one looked at her, and he said, “Good morning, KT.” and he just noticed something was wrong. And then Joy and Mara noticed. I just really feel like that was the moment where Jerome and Joy coulda been more involved with Sibuna again- wait what am I saying)
No, when they and Patricia and Alfie were at the Gatehouse and they tried to warn them about the ceremony is when JOY AND JEROME SHOULDA GOTTEN INVOLVED IN SIBUNA AGAIN. Or like, at least be more aware, I mean come on?? Joy, you’re better than this. And Jerome, you’ve seen enough weird stuff to know when it’s Sibuna-related and usually that means deadly-related so you’re whole having two girlfriends thing can wait for a while.
Caroline Denby sucked. (And Caroline Forbes from TVD is a fan favorite of mine and not to mention that MY NAME IS CAROLINE so imagine that).
the fact that we got rid of the real Victor was kinda just wrong for me. I mean, Victor has always been a pain in the ass with the kids, and he’s usually wanted what they were after as well but he’d never resort to murder or anything like that, so when he got turned into a sinner and lost his friggin soul (yes, they said that, this is true) we truly lost Victor and I didn’t like that at all.
Season 1 was all about a mystery but also partly conspiracy, there was a moment between all five of Sibuna where they got proof and realistic statements after Joy lied to them (at the insistence of her dad) they were starting to think that the mystery wasn’t real and almost backed out of the search. Remember? Nina said, “You guys aren’t giving up on me, right?” Anyway, that was that. It was all about finding more information about what really happened and what’s really going on. About finding answers.
Season 2 was darker, it was a race against time because unlike the mystery of the first season, this one was more about saving themselves. Nina’s life and her friends and Gran would’ve died, it’s a great motivator to go through the tunnels. And there were moments where we see just how serious this is, there’s one shot where Nina is in a dream sequence in the house and all her friends are running away from her, terrified. And even when Victor sees her, he backs away in fear and hides himself in his office and then in the mirror it’s revealed Nina’s dressed and appears as Senkhara. And then when Senkhara freezes Vera, Victor knows it’s time to back away, he’s scared, he’s worried, so we see him do what he has to do to get Vera back. And when he’s playing the game? With Sibuna as his game pieces on the huge board? When Alfie disappeared, he backed out, he knew when to stop and almost considered calling Mr. Sweet to do something about it.
Meanwhile, Season 3 was all dark evil stuff, run for your life or your literal soul will be taken. It’s the end of the world if they awaken this sleeping dude, we need heroes to stop the bad team. Oh no, he’s awake, now he’s going to unleash hell and evil and it’s the end of the world, only now everyone’s converted to the evil and it’s real bad, we need heroes desperately.
This season might’ve been more dark or good vs. evil type of thing but it just didn’t feel right for HOA. The show has always been subtle, it’s quiet and the kids solve the mystery and they do everything very hushed and private, this season sort of felt like WHOAH PIE IN YOUR FACE GUESS WHAT IM A SIBUNA what with turning the whole school into sinners, I just didn’t like the whole school being this active. but that’s me personally.
Robert Frobisher-Smythe being the one in the tank is ridiculous considering wE SAW HIS FRIGGIN GHOST AT THE END OF S1. And honestly, bringing him in and saying that he’s going to bring forth a darkness to make people evil and bring the apocalypse is just a really bland plot. It’s no mystery, it’s legit good guys vs. a villain. It’s a ‘save the world’ plot, yeah like we’ve never seen that before.
We love the mystery, where was it? oh right, nowhere.
When the four descendants of Robert’s expedition party were revealed: Patricia, Joy, Alfie and Jerome, there could have so much content.
The four of them speaking in unison while they sleep should’ve been used more.
Remember the childhood lullabies they were supposed to use to find a random artifact? Those lullabies were riddles and other than that cylinder that KT opened using her synesthesia, it was the only thing that made it feel like good old days of House of Anubis.
again, making Robert the man in the tank and then evil was just stupid. im not gonna approach the fact that he took the punishment meant for his expedition party and that’s why he’s cursed, and now he’s evil? oh gods
again, seeing the three OG Sibuna gang members evil and not on Sibuna kept killing me.
that ending bugged me
like oh no! everyone’s gone insane, we gotta shut this thing down before it devours more souls. TWO HOURS LATER and now it’s time to enjoy fireworks and Fabian and Mara and flirting and its so unnecessary, whyy??
Leave Mara with Jerome (in which he didnt cheat) and Willow is happy with Alfie and KT and Joy are out there being gay as hell. Those are the ships that shoulda happened.
Honestly, when I think back at S2 and Amber and Nina are there, it just brings back such good vibes. S2 really is the best season, but I stand by my love for Eddie and KT. Friendship goals AF. Like I said before, the third season was in your face, it was loud and it was telling everyone ‘end of the world’ and when you think about it, it’s perfect for the characters they introduced. S1 and S2 fit so well for Nina, because she’s like that, she’s quiet yet badass and is about riddles and mysteries. Meanwhile, Eddie is loud and wants to get this over with, LET’S BREAK INTO OUR TEACHER’S HOUSE BECAUSE I HAVE A HUNCH. YOU WANNA SEE THE SLEEPING MAN’S FACE, FABIAN? LET’S REMOVE THE GLASS. LET’S STEAL THE TANK WITH THE SLEEPING MAN IN BROAD DAYLIGHT.  LET ME JUST BARGE INTO VICTOR’S OFFICE TO TAKE YOUR KEY BACK, KT. LET’S DO WHATEVER IMPORTANT TASK OR MISSION WE NEED HAVE TONIGHT. LET ME BANG AGAINST PIPES AND BRICKS REALLY LOUDLY. And let me tell you, it just makes me laugh how into it he gets, like “why not?” it’s just so funny for some reason. Anyway, I think they decided to make this season fit what they wanted Eddie to be and that’s what they did. I loved Eddie’s performance, I loved him so much, I loved KT more. But I just didn’t love this season.

Ticklish - Requested
Anon: Ticklish fic for Jerome
Tumblr media
You sat cross-legged on your bed working on a rough sketch of a circus tent on the side of Gotham River while you blasted Green Day through your old record player.
The sketch was just scrawled outlines at the moment, but soon, you hoped, it would finish as desired once you worked on the shading and watercolour. You planned for the tent to be a stereotypical red and white, but it was going to be abandoned. Yellow light from old floodlights would drown the surrounding of the tent, giving it, what you hoped would be the perfect contrast from the soon to be inky, black sky. The river, Gotham river, would also be pitch-black, but reflections of light would be sprinkled into its inky blue depths. Finally, there would be a figure, adorned in black and white, pale-skinned and rich ginger hair glinting in the light. That was the plan anyway.
As you transform your idea into reality, you hum along with Greenday’s Dookie, happily getting lost in a world of art. You were so immersed, in fact, that you didn’t notice the same Ginger you were sketching slowly open your window. It was Jerome, and he was grinning like a mad-man. Maybe this would be the time he caught Y/n off guard? Maybe this would be the time he finally scared her?
Jerome had worked out pretty early on that the latticework covered in vines running up the side of your home lined up perfectly with her window sill and could hold his weight easily. The first time he’d tapped on your window grinning at age fifteen as probably the closest he had ever gotten to frightening you.
He was head over heels for you. You had the same dark sense of humour as him despite your sweet demeanour meanwhile he was unnervingly perceptive.
You didn’t hear the window open as Jerome crawled through and your back was towards the entrance so you couldn’t see him either. Some would’ve figured you'd have heard him climb through, but Jerome was always eerily silent, not that it was eerie to you. Nothing really did much emotionally for you apart from art, music and the charismatic ginger with the same dark sense of humour. Your parents only pissed you off with their constant nagging and looks of disappointment.
What had alerted you to Jerome’s presence was the slight breeze that carried in the musky smell of wet gutters and damp earth, signalling the boy’s arrival.
You let Jerome amuse himself by thinking he had finally gotten you - it was a fun game, but one you always won. You even let the boy stand behind you as you sensed him figuring out how to scare you best. You hadn’t stopped humming to  Basket Case so Jerome really believed he had finally succeeded in his little personal challenge. Boy, was he wrong.
“Hey Jerome,” you sang, smirking.
You were met with silence. Grinning, you spun around on the bed and faced the ginger who’s face looked absolutely gobsmacked. You leant your elbow on your knee and rested your chin on top of your closed fist.
“Watcha’ doing?” You asked, batting your eyelashes in false innocence.
“How... how did you... I didn’t... what?” Jerome asked perplexed.
“You need to pick up your game ranger,” you sassed, flashing your teeth in a wide smile.
“Okay, I lost, but there was no need for name calling,” mocked Jerome as he jumped onto the bed next to you, his boots leaving bits of dirt on the cover - there was a reason you’d gotten a black duvet recently.
“Oh but there was,” you retorted, resting your head on his chest as he lay on one arm and wrapped his other around your shoulders.
You and Jerome had been seeing each other for three years now.  You’d met at the circus he lived in and instantly grew attached to each other.  There was constant letter sending and receiving and secret visits once he was back in Gotham. You were now both seventeen, and since you had a car now, there were many times where you weren’t really sleeping over with friends, but camping out in the car, smoking and doing other things under some trees next to Gotham river.
“I’d be careful about your next words sweetcheeks,” Jerome threatened.
“Oh yeah? What are you gonna do about it giggles? Scare me?” It was too much fun taunting the boy. It brought you joy when that strange glint in his russet brown eyes sparked, sending a shiver of excitement down your spine instead of the fear others would gain.
In fact, when you’d brought Jerome to meet your parents after a week of knowing the boy, once he’d left, they’d told you to stay away from him. “He gives off a bad vibe, that kid,” your father had said. You weren’t going to listen to that. No way! He was the first person you could be yourself around. Death and blood fascinations, dark humour, weapon play, the lot.
“Giggles huh? Oooh, we’ll see who’s giggling.”
Jerome suddenly rolled away from you only to come back on top of you, straddling your hips. He began poking you in the sides, causing bursts of laughter to escape from your mouth.
“Jerome!” You hissed in between fits of giggles, “Stop, my parents are going to hear us!”
You were having too much fun to really care. Jerome was only ticklish in a spot on his back and you couldn’t reach it. The boy continued to poke you mercilessly, giggling himself. The fun, however, was cut short with the sound of your father’s voice.
“Y/n? What are you doing?”
“Fuck,” Jerome hissed.
Jerome's head whipped to look up at you face which surely mirrored the same expression of terror and shock. It was one of the few times Jerome looked frightened, he did not want to be caught like this.
“Shit, get under the bed,” you whispered, shoving the side of Jerome’s face to the side so you could clean the accumulation of dirt that had dispersed over the bed. Hastily, you folded the duvet over itself as Jerome crashed to the floor and rolled under the bed.
“Fuck,” he explained again as you felt a thud from under the bed.
“Shut up, idiot.” You whispered, frantically picking up the watercolour pencils that had fallen to the floor.  Just as you picked up a cherry red pencil, your father opened the door to your room.
“What are you doing?” He asked scowling.
“Sorry, dad. The lyrics of the last song just made me laugh,” you said, nodding towards the record player.
“Right. Well turn that shit down and make your bed for god sake.”
With that, your father closed the door and was gone. Thank god he didn’t listen to Greenday. She wasn’t funny lyrically at all.
“The lyrics made you laugh? He bought that?” You looked over to see Jerome’s head pop up from beside the bed.
“Well, he isn’t the brightest of people.”
By now Sassafras Roots had begun playing.
“Obviously,” Jerome smirked, crawling back into bed. You shoved your sketchpad to the ground, thankfully you had closed it before Jerome had seen the newest work of the day.
You waited until Jerome was comfy, his arms crossed behind his head, and laid back into his chest, listening to his heartbeat.
Well I’m a waste like you, With nothing else to do May I waste your time too?
“Hmm, what a fitting song,” Jerome hummed, resting a hand on your shoulder.
“Why’s that?” you mused.
“Oh well, both our parents call us waste’s, and say we are wasting time seeing each other.” He’d proceeded to rub his thumb in small circles on your shoulder.
“That’s true... except my parent’s don’t actually know I’m still seeing you. Thought I stopped that first week I knew you.”
“Oh really? Well, that just makes me like you even more, because my mother says I’m wasting time seeing you.”
You smiled and sang along to the final line, “May I waste your time too?”
“Anytime you want sugar,” Jerome mumbled against the top of your head.
I apologise, anon, for the wait. I hope you don’t mind Greenday because I thought the song fit perfectly with the final part.

Am I the only one who thinks that Jeremiah was genuinely upset after Jerome’s death? Yes, they didn’t have the best relationship as brothers, but when I see this picture and the set of Gifs of Jeremiah when he’s beginning to walk home, I get the vibe that deep down that he actually cared about Jerome despite the fact that he was terrified of him.
Tumblr media
Maybe the two of them had some good memories together. The bad certainly outweighed the good, but maybe there were moments between the two where they had a lot of fun, despite everything.

please blather all of your Esmé/Jerome thoughts I want to hear them All
so u see i don’t ship them per se so my thoughts are more so general ramblings and ~vague ideas~ of what their marriage might have been like rather than fully formed headcanons BUT the general vibe of it is very similar to what you said.. if you’ll allow me to copy & paste: “he’ll be the big spoon but he’ll also like. kiss the top of her head when she’s staring down finance work. or brush her hair aside to kiss her neck quickly as a bit of an ‘i’m down if you’re down’ but not in a distracting way”
so basically jerome’s out here being the perfect doting, caring husband and while esmé most likely appreciates the attention and devotion (bc that’s just what she’s like and what she thinks she deserves from literally everyone) she probably sometimes wishes he was more of the ‘here take my credit card and buy yourself something nice’ kind of dismissive husband that she didn’t actually have to interact with on the daily.. after all she didn’t exactly marry him for him
the only somewhat legitimate headcanon i have is as follows: after the fire (which i’m boldly assuming they both survive) they get an official divorce but for some strange and inexplicable reason they remain friends/slowly become friends. so this is obviously difficult for jerome bc he loves her but he’d much rather suffer in silence with her in his life than never see her again; as for esmé, she’s dismissive of him at first but eventually begins to open up.. she realizes this is quite possibly the first actual friendship she’s ever had, not like the superficial ones with coworkers or whatnot in the past.. and this sort of brings about this revelation of how much jerome knows about her, and how perceptive he’s always been: what she likes/dislikes, her mannerisms, nervous tics, bad habits, what she does in her free time, how she has a tendency to work herself half to death, he knows how to distract her from that, he knows what to say or do to make her feel better, he knows more about her deep-rooted psychological issues than she herself does etc. and maybe? who knows? esmé finally grows to appreciate him
so not to blab on about nothing in particular for ages.. what i’m going for is that a healthy platonic relationship is good for esmé, and she somewhat gets her head out of her ass and maybe.. slightly.. somewhat.. begins to become aware of the fact that the world doesn’t revolve around her………….. like, jerome is a positive influence on her. he’s also filthy rich and not exactly down to earth but he’s sort of her anchor to reality if that makes sense. and it’s a good thing that esmé has jerome to check up on her every once in a while to make sure she hasn’t worked or drank herself to death bc post-fire esmé is a wreck

On Traveling Alone - The Introvert’s Dream
For someone like me, traveling alone is a dream!!!!!!!!!!!! I laugh at how many people paused, tilted their head or looked at me quizzically when I told them I was going to Mexico alone. Surely, some of their questioning was safety, but some of it was also their disbelief that traveling alone was an enjoyable way to go. Well, for someone like me it most definitely is…
Introvert Life
I love time to myself and regularly create it during my normal weekly routines. I wake up at 5am, by choice, on weekdays, just because I enjoy & need the extra quiet time for myself before the world wakes up. It’s a grounding, centering feeling. I may read or write, or both or other rituals if I feel so led – oracle cards, art journaling, etc. But, always coffee, always my couch, recently with a warm blanket tossed over me… At least 5 days a week, this time also includes a good, sweaty workout, which always makes me feel great, even if it’s hard to start sometimes. I am someone who is completely comfortable spending time alone and actually need time alone in order to be my best self. I am just truly at home by myself, which I honestly think is rare for many people these days….I am most definitely an introvert by nature, even if at work or in social settings, I may seem like I can socialize and be charming or lovely. I can only engage in a lovely, sweet-energied fashion if I have carved out and made enough time for myself, alone that day or that week. Anyone who knows me well enough knows that if I do not have that time to ground myself, connect, be alone with me – then I can be a weepy, cranky or annoyed person or bitch. People-ing tires me out after a certain amount of time. Even with family gatherings, I can only usually do about 2 hours max, then my social energy tanks. I’m lucky because my position at work is a decent balance of quiet office time, mixed with people-ing so it rarely gets to be too much socializing in one day. For my personal social life, I am very picky with who I spend my time with and how often.
Tumblr media
Socializing twice a week is a lot for me! If I have a party or an outing scheduled for the weekend, that is probably all the socializing I will do, and the rest will be time for me. The people I choose to spend time with give me life and bring me even more alive, they do not feel like a drain on my energy and so I look forward to the mutual energizing and sharing that can happen. I do not hang with people that are a drag, negative or who I feel drain my energy or even are not on a similar frequency. This has been self-taught and I make a hard line about it because I honor my energy and my time. It’s easy for me now to say no and not attend things I know I won’t enjoy or say no to outings with people who are not my speed. Maybe that comes with age or maturity – despite the fact that I feel like I’m living through my 20s now (which in many ways I am…thank you #conventfor8years.) I am 36 and have at least the soul maturity to do whatever I want and not feel bad about it! When you start to tune into the energy created by people in your life, you can feel the huge difference btw those that bring you alive, those of similar frequencies, who vibe on your level….and those who do not, who lower or slow your energy and the life flowing through you…it becomes very clear and once you feel the lightness and brightness of those certain souls, you choose over and over again to be in their presence! 😊 #amici #tribe #fam
Traveling Solo
That all being said, however, I absolutely LOVE traveling by myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even before this Mexico trip.....
since I’ve lived in Phoenix, I’ve taken many a hike and road trip by myself, just because I needed or wanted to: Prescott, White Tanks, South Mountain, Jerome (well, I went with my dad, but I still would have gone alone had he not joined me!), etc.
To me, traveling alone is much simpler on the mind and less draining. There isn’t the constant seeking agreement or compromising that comes with traveling with another or others. Often in my travels through Mexico, I would hear pairs or groups pausing and “Are you hungry now?” “Do you want to go into that Church?” “Is it ok if we stop in this store first?”   I would wander by these conversations and smirk because it was so liberating to be able to do and go wherever the f*ck I wanted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I was hungry, I would search for a bakery. If I wanted to check out this street or that building, I would go. If I wanted to keep walking and keep exploring even after 4 straight hours, I did. When I was tired, I walked home. It was so very simple and easy on my mind! If I wanted to stop and linger at this site or watch these dancers for an hour, I did, without a worry about anyone needing or wanting something else. I took a zillion pictures everywhere and didn’t have to worry about annoying someone because I did that. It really was amazing and there was this lovely feeling of lightness each day. It’s my happy space when I can just wander and explore a place alone, linger where and when I want to without having to check-in with anyone else. Maybe that sounds selfish or maybe it’s just honest and mature, and the voice of someone at home with herself. I don’t know. But I DO know that I know myself well enough to know that I prefer flying solo in most cases like this because it’s just lighter and easier on the mind, overall less complicated – leaves me more mind space and ultimately more overall energy to continue exploring and seeing the things I want to see. Traveling in groups or even with another person, I feel you are always having to check-in, make choices, discuss directions or next steps….and that is a shit-ton of mental energy for me and sometimes emotional, if the group or person chooses something that you do not particularly care for, then you are wasting your time or just upset or both! At least I would be. Granted, with a loved one – sister, parent, lover, bff - anytime spend together in my book is quality time and sometimes we do things for them that we don’t particularly care for, just because we love them. And that’s ok and I honor that.  Sometimes, not all the time though. If I was in love, I’m sure I’d happily go see some boring museum with him because he would probably go see some pretty flowers with me. And that’s ok. I think we would also be happy to split up for a few hours to go be on our own!!
Tumblr media
The only time when I was like, “Mmmm, it would be nice to have someone else here…” was in the nighttime.  In other cities and in Mexico, I do not venture out at night alone. This is my safety thing and where my level of wandering draws a line, especially when I am by myself in a foreign country and my only local contact is my host. Usually my days of exploring would end around 5 or 6pm, I would make sure I had food for the rest of my evening, I would shower, eat, and revel in my photos. These are moments where, had I a companion, I would venture out maybe to an event or a restaurant downtown. Not every night though, but I would go out some nites. In fact, on my last night in Mexico, I did venture out with my suitemate upstairs, a lovely girl from Washington DC. We had made friends the day she arrived and actually spent a few hours together wandering the city, and then found a lovely rooftop restaurant to finish off my trip! Post dinner, we found ourselves in the center plaza again, where we watched more dancing, saw the Church lit up and got to experience San Miguel at night. So, there are some perks to having a travel companion!
Other than that, I’d still choose traveling alone most of the time. I do believe there are people with whom traveling would be easier for me, and people or types of people that I’d have a hard time traveling with. There are just some people who you easily vibe with, who have similar desires when it comes to what they want to do and, as important, how they want to do it. For example, I’m content just walking around a new city, with a few ideas of places I want to see, but otherwise, walking, taking photos of life, exploring – historic centers, churches, libraries, plazas. I’m not super interested in shopping or eating at fancy, famous places. I’m also not interested in doing the typical touristy things. I just want to blend in and witness how Life takes place wherever I am. I love gardens, city parks and plazas where you can walk, experience beauty and people. If you’re like that, then I’d travel with you. Maybe. 😉
