Sanders Sides as DND Classes (but trying to not be stereotypical)

(No hate to any other configurations, I just think these would be personally funny, and I like the idea of them being different classes)

Patton- Warlock:

I'd imagine he's working for a Celestial, or some Fiend or Archfey who caught him. Sticks to healing spells, but his patron's expectation will take over or he'll act on reaction, and he goes into a more volatile state. Is only on the adventure because his patron wants it, and he feels obligated to obey because 'they know best'.

Roman- Rogue:

Arcane Trickster who puts a lot of his magic into putting up a princely facade to get what he wants. Illusion magic with flair is his specialty, but he's also incredible at chatting up people and convincing them to do what he'd like them to without fighting. He steals because he has to, and the adventure is his and his brother's ticket out of this life.

Remus- Ranger:

This bitch is a Swarmkeeper with rats for flavor! While he's not particularly sneaky, he makes up for it with a swarm that is able to follow his command, and they can be stealthy enough on the battlefield to make up for his distraction. Stays with Roman, and wants to keep his brother safe on the adventure.

Virgil- Paladin:

Virgil is on the Oath of Redemption after something tragic happened and he blamed himself, I think. Extremely protective of the party, probably takes the Sentinel feat, and sticks to physical combat rather than magical due to the make-up of the party. Is on the adventure to atone, but also cause he probably bonded w/ Patt before they left.

Logan- Barbarian:

It's cause he rages, obviously /j. But actually, I think he's Path of the Storm Herald, as it has some of the widest variation in usefulness in the game but also requires a lot of strategy to make it work properly, which makes it perfect for Logan. He's probably on the adventure because he has to be, though, and not for any ulterior motive.

Janus- Artificer:

This is a bit of a leap, but let me explain. I think Alchemist Janus makes perfect sense, and with the "snake-oil" salesman vibe he generally gives off, I think he'd do well with experimental elixirs and AOE spells, since he can stay off the battlefield but also play support when Patt goes off. He's doing this adventure for the money.

This makes me incredibly angry.

I pointed out that Shakespeare never said that, Virgil did, (Eclogues X) and Chaucer after him (Canterbury Tales.)

She said, "Oh I'm sure Shakespeare said that. In Romeo and Juliet!"

I sighed. I've been in that play several times, in different roles, and even directed it. That text does not occur in it.

But the real grind-my-teeth moment here was that if Romeo and Juliet can be said to have a message, it is most certainly not "Love conquers all," seeing as the lovers die by their own hands with a trail of their friends and relations' corpses in their wake.

Neither this fact, nor the fact that I knew the play, nor my explanation that Virgil and Chaucer used the phrase long before Shakespeare's birth dented her determination that "Love conquers all" came from Shakespeare.

"You don't know ALL the versions!" she protested.

With every instinct screaming at me to let the matter drop, warning me that some horror that will not soon be absent from my nightmares waited around the next corner of this conversation. I pressed on.

It was a decision I was soon to regret.

I asked when she had first read "Romeo and Juliet." She said she had only read it once, when she was in Junior High. In the version she was taught, Romeo and Juliet survive, are reconciled with their parents, and are married in the church with their friends Mercutio and Tybalt arm in arm in the wedding party.

"Help me into some house, Benvolio, or I shall faint."

It turned out that her school had their own "version" of Romeo and Juliet, with an "uplifting" ending. This was printed and distributed by a religious education publisher. And it was the only version of the story that she had ever read. Of course she had HEARD other people say that the story was a tragedy, but she just assumed they were wrong.

And she did not see why MY version of Shakespeare should be considered better than HER Shakespeare, which, after all, had a much more wholesome ending.

I explained, in vain, that "my" version is definitive because Shakespeare actually wrote it (quiet, you Oxfordians. Don't make me stop this car) and the message of the play - that when adult stubbornness meets youthful impulsiveness tragedy ensues - is lost in the ersatz, happy-clappy ending.

She said the ending that had been Frankensteined onto Shakespeare's play by the "Christian Education" publisher was better than the original ending, "if the ending is as sad as you say it is."

At this point, I concluded that this was a person who deserved to go through the rest of her life "...safest in shame! being fool'd, by foolery thrive!" I bid her adieu.

After the conversation, I wondered, darkly, if that was to be the fate of Shakespeare, and all other literature if the happy-clappy people get their way - as harmless and "uplifiting" as a cheerleader's chant.

I wondered what these bowdlerizers would do with "Hamlet?" or worse, "Titus Andronicus" or "MacB-" Nothing wholesome, I'm sure. Oh, that's right, what they can't appropriate, they ban. Or burn.

In trying to protect children, we leave them undefended from "...the slings and arrows" that life will no doubt throw their way. Shakespeare raises the issues of tragedy - the fatal flaw, the last turning, the role of fate, as well or better than any author before or since. He is a gentle tutor, much to be preferred over that stern and dangerous teacher, Experientia Inopinatum.

But, as ever, it really isn't about the children. It's about the adults, and their desire to avoid answering difficult questions from agile young minds, who know no fear and swarm like eager flies around questions that have been boggling our best minds for millenia. To answer the questions that literature raises, you have to have thought deeply about them yourself. And that is something that few dare to do.]  end id

I am now hip deep in the Edge of Midnight campaign from legends of avantris and lemme tell you some shit -

1) I would lay down my life for Jericho Sticks without any hesitation. Torbek and Jericho are my sons now, no takesies backsies.

2) Lethica and Marius are so perfectly aligned to be end game lovers but I personally adore the idea of them being queerplatonic if only bc it's funny to watch people be confused and I think Lethica would adore that.

3) you can pry the concept of Briggsy having a some kind of magical fantasy cellphone equivalent from my cold dead hands - sending stone or smth idfk - and he's been keeping his buddy/boyfriend Torbek updated on all this like "Becky you would not BELIEVE what happened today-" ((listen I know the flirting bit between them in the yuletide one-shot was a feycurse but leave me alone it's funny as fuck))

4) briggsy @ jericho in ep 24 appropos nothing: Jerry, maybe we have to kiss ((sad, silly twinks with Literal Darksides are his type /j))

5) I have a friend-crush on Nikkie and I will never recover

6) I have an unyielding NEED to have Jericho get a final hit on a boss and yell yeehaw

7) I know stylistically Jericho doesn't have "skin" but I personally hc that his clothes aren't effectively his skin, he has a burlap body - and he has "tattoos" in the form of embroidery. It started when he had to stitch up his own cuts and stuff and he just kept it up.

8) Only Yorgrim has any constant sense of cooking in an actual kitchen-like setting. Farryn, Marius, and Briggsy can do journey or on-the-road cooking, but it's never.... great. Lethica burns everything somehow or gets the bright idea to 'experiment', and it's never good - she's fine if she's got clear end goals. Jericho is understandably skittish around fire due to his body and straw, but he is the closest to being able to cook well and do so semi regularly.

9) Virgil is a weird mix of a hater and lowkey overprotective. He does hate being imprisoned, but also he's kinda bound here so he HAS to keep this disaster of a bard safe. He refuses to admit he might have a soft spot. He is Stressed.

10) Farryn doesn't get the appeal of Girls Nights, but Jericho does!!! They join Lethica for some fun relaxation. Briggsy once asked why Jericho was allowed since he's also a dude, and Lethica just responded "he's allowed to be there - on account of him being a scarecrow and not a literal man after all." It's an inside joke which later has to be explained - Jericho is nonbinary but doesn't rightly care about stuff like that.

11) Yorgrim is the group dad, no I will not explain.

12) sometimes after a battle, Lethica and Marius will help stitch up some of Jericho's tears. Farryn may also add in random flowers she finds around because it makes him happy.

13) Briggsy is small but mighty. The only person he has yet to pick up and carry is Yorgrim - he swears that one day that tombstone will be gone and he'll be able to do it. It's all the rock's fault, he's sure of it.

Spoilers under the cut (caught up to present)

OKAY so I am caught up completely and have decided that Canon is not important leave me alone

• Yorgrim did not die - he got wounded heavily but survived.

• Farryn almost got taken but they got to her in time. She is mute for a time due to injuries and trauma - idk if she ever talks again bc we could use more sign language in the world. Maybe it comes and goes, fuck if I know, idk and idc

ONWARDS TO SILLIES

• Lethica strong armed her way into giving Jericho The Talk after he revealed he had no idea what a penis was. Scarecrows cannot blush, but apparently his fiendish glow can ebb and flow and he glows much MUCH brighter when he's embarrassed - she tries so hard not to laugh.

• Adella and Jericho btw are simply besties. His "crush" on her is a friend crush and Phillip just finds it painfully cute. ((Also -> Jericho has mommy issues and Adella always wanted a son/nephew/little brother. Peaceful alignment))

• Dark Mode Marius is a colossal flirt but still a giant dweeb. He's cool and suave until someone flirts back - then he's a mess.

• Briggsy is very happy with his Kannon & makes "shooting my shot" jokes at every and any opportunity

• Yorgrim, with his reward, manages to finally lay many souls tonrest but he still carries the tombstone on journeys - just not constantly now. He still believes he must pay penance, but it's a little easier to share the burden.

• Farryn, with her own reward, has not chosen to activate it yet. Something tells her to wait, to bide her time and remain. She does, however, get a little more at ease with the others. She and Jericho have come to an understanding, too - that being they they are a package deal, no takesies backsies, and they refer to each other as twin, much to the confusion of many, many, many people. WLW and NBLM solidarity.

• Jericho is pining HARD for Marius, but he's absolutely terrified of damaging the friendship so everyone is watching two oblivious dummies look longingly into each other.

• POLYAMORY POLYAMORY POLYAMORY

• Marius grows rather fond of Virgil, and the sentiment is very much NOT reciprocated bc this angry knight vampire is not good enough for his vessel and he's mad about it.

• Yorgrim: I've only had my friends for a few days, but if anything happened to them, I'd kill everyone in Druskenvald and then myself.

• I fully expect for Jericho to somehow befriend an enemy in disguise, not realize, and accidentally fuck up the evil plan with the powers of puns, music and friendship (/j)

• the first time the party sees Jericho presenting more feminine, he's been lended one of Lethica's dresses after his own clothes got torn up and the rest are being washed. Marius has a nosebleed and faints. Briggsy is staring somewhat respectfully. Lethica is trying valiantly not to laugh. Farryn and Yorgrim regret not dying when they had the chance.

• Marius: i cannot have a relationship because I have sworn to follow the duchess of sin

Lillith: whoa hold up, Do Not use me as an excuse to avoid the cutie pie over there. Besides, he has a demon. I'm queen of hell. I can make a small exception.

Oh glad lore question's are alowed. (Sidequest au) So. First post said the 'players' i'll call them, pick a class. But Logan and Patton seem to not know what their classes even mean so... How do you pick a class and not even know the word for it or what that means. Not only that, Roman seemed to Hate his class. Or at least the Player avatar that came with it.

I think you ment Logan instead of Roman at the end there. Yeah, Logan hates his looks it's actually because his family are hippies and he always hated the aesthetic. He felt misunderstood.

However the "players" is not the right word for their situation. They are not stuck in the game of any kind, they are in another world. But because the new world operates mainly of familiar game mechanics they adopted a similar language terms. The people native to the world are called NPCs, and the people summoned are called Players. People also have different classes Druids, Fighters, Bards and so on, but in the natives might have different names for it.

Picking a class was presented as a spontaneous decision that none of the players were ready to make. Patton and Logan are not familiar with the classes so their choice was more random. Logan most likely wanted to read a description of every class before choosing but instead of the description his movement made him pick that class. Roman and Remus are familiar with DnD and RPG games so their pick was deliberate. Roman was torn between picking a fighter and a bard but decided to pick fighter to focus more on his safety in another world. Remus picked a bard cuz it's more fun and he wouldn't want to miss such a chance.

Janus and Virgil were familiar with the terms but not as close as the twins. So their pick was more oriented on what they thought was a good choice in this situation.

So, I had this idea a few days ago. Lemme lay it out.

Main Mercs

Scout - A half-witch, half-bipedal demon hybrid. Forced into Illusion magic, but wants to do Bard magic. Has a Hare palisman named Knucklehead.

Soldier - A witch. Practices Beast Keeping and Abomination magic, but mostly a Wild Witch (emphasis on "Wild"). Has a raccoon palisman named Lieutenant Bites.

Pyro - A bipedal demon who is a Wild witch. Has a Unicorn palisman called "Hudda hudda" (no one knows what it actually translates to).

Demo - A witch who practices Potion magic and owns the biggest Apple Blood factory. Has a Macaw palisman named Alberdeen.

Heavy - A towering bipedal demon who practices Abomination magic. Has a Bear palisman named Sasha.

Engineer - A Grimwalker who practices Construction and Healing magic. He built an artificial staff and uses artificial magic.

Medic - A witch who practices Healing magic, but is not part of the Healing Coven anymore. Has a Dove palisman named Archimedes.

Sniper - A Titan under the impression he is a Bipedal demon. Practices Oracle and Potions magic, but mostly a Wild Witch. Has an Owl palisman called Sir Hootsalot.

Spy - A bipedal demon who practices Illusions and is working for the Emperor's Coven. Does not have a palisman anymore.

CHeavy - A bipedal demon. Head of the Abominations Coven.

CMedic - A half-witch, half-bipedal demon hybrid. Head of the Healing Coven.

Bea (CPyro) - A Beast demon. Head of the Bard Coven.

The Plan so far

So, this blog was a very spontaneous idea I had yesterday (very late in the evening). So I took some time to think it through today, as well as get some more lists from other Fanders.

The plan now is to first create lists for the separate facets of the Thomas Sanders fandom, i.e. Sanders Sides, Shorts Characters, Cartoon Therapy and Roleslaying with Roman. (I'm sorry that this means I need to split up Remy and Emile for now, we'll get to crossovers later.)

For that to work, I need a comprehensive list of characters first. So this is my call for your help! I'll put a list of who I got so far after the cut and you can reply to this post or send me an ask about more characters I can/should include!
