Survivor of Ramshackle -part 1
This is based off a scenario I mentioned earlier in my blog about Yuu's home being destroyed whilst they were away. There will be multiple parts to this.
A/n: I try to make the MC gender neutral, but I'm sorry if I make an error whilst writing. This Yuu is GN, by the way.
Warnings: mild swearing, Angst, Ace implies keeping you hostage as a joke, but Deuce quickly puts him in his place. The later chapters will get darker.
PART 2
-
Everyone had gathered into the mirror chamber to bid Yuu farewell. The boys had really taken a liking to them. Even if they would put them through a lot of trouble at times. Likewise, they loved the boys, too. As each of the boys take thier turns to say goodbye, they admit some tears were shed. Crowley had found a way home for Yuu right after Grim's overblot, but he informed them that once they went back, they would not be able to return unless extra steps were made. Which of course won't happen. And they accepted the offer. After all, they still had a life and a family back home who were wondering where they were.
"It's not fair! I don't want them to go!" Complained a certain fire-eared monster.
"Grim, we cannot just keep 'em hostage here... but that would be a good backup pla- OW!!"
"WE ARE NOT DOING THAT!"
"Did you really have to hit me that hard Deuce? That hurt man."
"Ace, we must respect thier decisions."
"Yeah, I know I know."
It was now Jack's turn to join the conversation. "Plans have been made for you Grim. So you don't have to worry about needing Yuu for school."
"The Great Grim still needs his henchman to do his bidding and clean Ramshackle."
"Just admit it weasel, you're going to miss them too."
"Fgnaahhh!!"
"You're not helping Ace." Epel turns to Grim. "We understand Grim. Yuu has become a great friend to all of us. But it's time to say goodbye."
"Hnnngghh"
"Yuu! Don't go! Who will feed me tuna? Who will scratch my ears? Who will wrap me up in thier jacket during the winter break? I'm ordering you to stay minion!" Grim cried. Yuu kneeled down to comfort him. "Grim, listen to me. I am going back, yes, but I will not forget you. You mean so much to me Grim. But I still have others at the other side of that portal who are waiting for me. I need to meet up with them." You brush a stray tear from his face. "Do me a favor Grim. Stay here, attend your classes and study well. So that when I return to you someday, you will be the Greatest Mage ever like you wanted and we can go on more adventures together. Does that sound alright?" Grim sniffed and nodded. "Please come back some day." "I can't promise it, but I'll try."
"Oi! Herbivore. Just get going already. I want to leave now."Some things never change." They sighed as Leona sulked. Leona wasn't the only one who was feeling annoyed more than sad at this time. They admit that some of these boys were assholes. Some of them have even yet to apologize after all they've put them through. But they won't let that get in the way of the good memories they had in this world. Or at least they hope.
-
Yuu had just said goodbye to the last person when the headmaster came in.
"Prefect! The dark mirror is now ready! You must come immediately if you are to return home!" He hollered.
"Well, here I go."
Yuu stands up to the portal with tears in their eyes. Their heart hammering. This was it. They were finally going home. They can't wait to see their family again. It's been so long. What has changed since they left? Is everyone doing alright? They needed to know. The mirror pulsates with magical energy. Sparking up at some parts. Yuu turned back to look at the other students one last time. Then, with bated breath, they stepped through the portal.
-
"So that's it."
Besides this one remark. The mirror chamber was filled with silence. No one dared say anything. Everyone filed out of the room and went back to thier dorms.
Two idiots were helping Grim settle into Hearstlabyul. And got collared after breaking three Queen of Hearts rules whilst doing so. Trey baked cookies for them so they didn't complain as much after. After they made it to thier room the three students began to chat and banter with each other. Nothing had really changed for them. Same for the other dorms. Vil did his makeup. Idia did his tech. Leona slept. Azul ran the lounge. Overall, nothing had really changed.
"Kalim. You need to do this assignment."
"Oh, sorry Jamil. I'll be right there."
The vice pressed his dormleader to do what needed completion but something was distracting him.
"Do you think Yuu made it back safe?"
"..." Jamil had a suspicion that that was what was on his mind but he was not prepared to answer that question. "I'm sure they're happy Kalim. Now please get this done. Crewel will not show mercy if you fail."
"I know it's just... I have questions: What do they do? What do they have to eat at thier welcome home feasts?-" "I doubt that they have feasts Kalim." Kalim ignored what he said and kept going. "What are thier family like? I mean they are from another world so thier family structure could be different to ours. Hnnnghhh! Why am I only asking these questions now that they are gone?!"
"KALIM!!"
The housewarden went quiet immediately.
"They are fine okay. Yuu would not want you to spend all your time worrying about them. So just relax. They are fine."
Kalim thought about what Jamil just said.
"Yeah, I guess you're right. You're always right Jamil." The boy beamed whilst the vice rolled his eyes.
----------
I apologize for any mistakes. I also edited this into they/them pronouns because I find it easier to write with.
A/N: Go check out probablynoposts blog. They did a series on this prompt whilst this was still in the drafts. They did a very good job I must say. So kudos to them.

So uh, i had this idea of a soulmate au floating around in my head and like since I didn't have any requests to do at the time, I decided to write it down
This will only be 3rd POV reader (Yuu) x Jamil with a bit of a vague ending. I'm going with Jamil because he's my favorite, but if you want me to do it with someone else, feel free to send in a request!
Also this was done in 3-5 in the morning so sorry if there are any mistakes or OOC!
Soulmates in this world were common, whether their soulmate would be their best friend forever, or someone that was their true love. Everyone had a red string that connected to their soulmate. This red string was invisible to everyone but the pair and could only be touched, tugged, etc by them. If one or both end up dying though, the red string turns to dust.
There were a select few though, that didn't have a red string. No one knew why, and these people, would vanish with no trace every time. It was frightening, for both the person and their family.
Yuu, she found herself to be one of these people. She didn't think much of it until one day, her teacher talked about it. Looking around, she didn't see a red string tied to her finger. So she raised her hand, asking, "Miss, why don't I have a string?"
The teacher went silent and stared at Yuu. She tries to crack a smile, "Haha...Y-Yuu, you are joking…right?"
Yuu tilted her head, "I'm not. Why?"
Terror set in the teacher's face. She quietly spoke, "Yuu, please stay after school for a few minutes…"
Yuu was confused but nodded. She then joined in with her friends' laughter and jokes, not noticing the concerned stare of the teacher.
When her parents arrived at the class, the teacher told them the news.
They're faces also filled with terror. Yuu stood between them, not understanding what was going on, "What's wrong?" She asked innocently.
Her mother's eyes settled on her. She crouched down to her level and pulled her in a hug.
This only confused Yuu further as she felt her mother tremble.
Later, she learned what it meant. That she would potentially end up disappearing.
After that, Yuu soon grew to accept her fate, and decided to live to her hearts content. Her friends eventually learned and they all pitied her. But she didn't care, if she was going to disappear then she might as well leave without a bang.
On her 16th birthday, Yuu was walking with her friends in the shopping district.
As they crossed the street, Yuu slowed down to glance at a text she got from her mom.
Time seemed to slow down as a car suddenly started coming towards her without slowing down.
The last thing she saw was the car coming at her at full speed before everything turned black.
Her belongings skidded across the ground as her friends stared in shock.
The car itself kept going.
And Yuu? She was gone.
There was no blood, no body, no bones, nothing.
The only things that remained were her stuff and her phone laid on the ground, displaying the text from her mother, "Be careful."
...
Yuu found herself in a small space with no light, "Where am I…?" She murmurs.
Suddenly a muffled voice started to speak. Before she knew it, a bright light entered the space and she yelped.
"Huh?!" She heard the voice.
Opening her eyes and letting them focus, she saw something of a black raccoon staring at her. She yelped in shock and the creature also yelped.
"You're not supposed to be awake!" It spoke.
"AHHH! A TALKING RACCOON???" Yuu shouted as she got out of the space, avoiding the creature.
"Oi!! Im not a raccoon!" It retorted angrily, "I'm the great Grim!"
Yuu stared at the raccoon incredulously before looking around at her surroundings, "Woah!! Floating coffins???"
Her and the raccoon started to speak until it demanded that she give the raccoon her clothes.
"Oh heck no! First off, it won't even fit you! Second, these are mine!"
"Fine, then I'll burn you alive!" The raccoon said as it started spewing out fire.
"THE HECK??" Yuu started to run avoiding the flames.
She kept running before being cornered in something like a library. The raccoon nearly burned her alive before a strange man that had a bird mask interrupted. He scolded her and she listened even though she had no idea what he was talking about.
When he finally finished his lecture, Yuu spoke up.
"Uh, who are you and where am I?" She asked.
The man seemed to take a double take, "Do...Do you not know where this is?"
Yuu shook her head.
"Huh…well I shall tell you for I am gracious!" He replied.
*What is with this guy?* Yuu thought to herself.
He walked with her, explaining that she was at Night Raven College. He was the headmaster of the school and was named Dire Crowley. According to him, NRC was a magic school for only the best and that she was one of the students chosen. He went on to explain that each students are assigned to a dorm depending on their soul and that she has yet to be assigned one.
"This is a lot of info…" Yuu murmured. The only explanation she could come up with was that she was in a completely new world, but how was that possible?
Before she knew it, they entered a large chamber with a large crowd of people in it.
There were 6 figures standing by a large floating mirror and Crowley told her to go up to it.
As she walked up to the mirror, a face appeared. "State thy name"
"...Yuu."
"The shape of thy soul is…...I do not know." It suddenly said.
A commotion suddenly sparked and within it all, a young man was staring at his finger, where a red string was tied. He followed the string and saw that it connected to the magicless student. He perked an eyebrow before deciding to pull the string.
Yuu was sharply pulled back and she managed to catch herself, her hood falling off in the process. She turned around to catch the culprit but instead met the stare of a grey eyed stranger.
Before she could think, gasps erupted. It was revealed that she was a girl.
...
An hour prior.
Jamil was in the Scarabia Dorm, setting up for the party to welcome the new students. As he moved a chair, he noticed a red string attached to his finger. He sighed, "Kalim did this, didn't he?" He muttered before trying to take it off.
The string wouldn't budge, "Huh…?"
Jamil sighed, deciding to find Kalim instead.
The prefect was dancing around as usual, talking excitedly with the other students.
"Kalim!" Jamil yelled for the prefect.
Kalim looked over to him and smiled before excusing himself to bounce over to him. "Yo Jamil! What's up?"
Jamil held out the hand, "Did you tie this string to me?" He asked.
Kalim looked down at his hand before looking back up, his face confused, "What string?"
Jamil sighed, taking the red string between his fingers, "This one."
"...Jamil, are you joking?" Kalim laughed.
Jamil looked at him, "Can you seriously not see it?! It's right there!" He tugged the string.
Kalim waved his hand and it went through the string. He glanced back at Jamil, "I have no idea what you're talking about, Jamil. Are you ok?"
Jamil looked at the string in surprise. He sighed and rubbed his forehead, "Never mind, it doesn't matter."
Kalim shrugged, "If you say so!" He then smiled and went on to talk about the party.
Jamil only half listened, his mind still wondering where this string came from and where it lead to. He couldn't check it out though because the entrance ceremony was happening soon.
...
Many things happened within the first week. Yuu found herself becoming friends with 2 other students her age, Ace and Deuce. She also eventually became friends with Grim. There was also quite a bit of trouble with Heartslaybul and its prefect, Riddle Rosehearts. Luckily, it managed to be resolved.
She had noticed that the red string for her appeared as well. She had managed to see that it was connected to the same grey eyed stranger, who she still did not know the name of.
She had seen him around the halls though. He was rather tall and tanned and his hair was long and in a ponytail. He would regularly hang out with an energetic, white haired boy. And based off the armband he wore, he was in Scarabia. She would say that he was very pretty if she could. They never interacted though. Until one day.
Yuu was sitting under a tree with a book in her lap as Grim laid next to her, having a nap. They had free time right now while Ace and Deuce were being lectured. Suddenly, she felt a tug at her finger. Glancing at the string, she followed it until she was met with the familiar eyes of her supposed soulmate.
He stared at her silently before walking towards her.
She placed her book down and stood up as he approached her.
She smiled, "Nice to meet the soulmate that nearly made me fell." She joked.
He didn't smiled back, instead perked an eyebrow, "Soulmate?" He echoed back.
"Oh, is that not something that exists here?" Yuu tilted her head.
"Not exactly...We know of it but it doesn't actually exist."
She smiled again, "Welp, in my world, it does exist and this string is proof," she thought to herself for a few seconds, "I guess I know now why I didn't have a string before."
He crossed his arms, analyzing her, "How do we take the string off?" he asked.
Yuu shrugged, "the string can't be taken off, unless one or both of us die."
He sighed and rubbed his forehead, "How annoying…" he muttered.
Yuu watched him silently for a few seconds before holding out her hand, "I'm Yuu, what's your name, soulmate?" She asked jokingly.
He glanced at her hand before looking at her. He took her hand, "Jamil. Jamil Viper."
"Heh, nice to meet you Jamil."
Yuu didn't know if he would be someone she'd be interested in romantically or just see him as a brother. That's what was fascinating about the string. But eventually time will tell.

Professional Status:
Dorm: Itan-ori
School Year: First
Class: 1-A
Occupation: Student, Dorm leader, prefect/therapist(unofficial)
Club: Trickster(this club is not officially recognized by PSU but everyone knows it exists)
Best Subject: Magical Analysis: Anansi's always been good at peering at the strings and gears of magic. And loves to mess with and edit how they work, especially if the result is chaotic as heck. But then again as a person he's analytical at everything. Both for tricks and basic survival.
Fun Facts:
Dominant hand: Ambidextrous with leaning to right
Favorite Food: really spicy ramen
Least Favorite Food: anything rotten
Dislikes: being looked down on, treated like he's worthless
Hobby: Writing, he loves writing stories, music, poems, and anything that connects to weaving words.
Talents: making traps, whether with words or physical objects
Anansi Khari is the first year dorm leader of Itan-ori. He takes on the MC's role in PSU, he's a crafty, mischievous and greedy person due to growing up with very little. But despite these harsher parts of himself, he was given the role of an unofficial therapist for the students. He was inspired from the spider deity known as Anansi, known to be a god of wisdom, stories, spiders and tricksters.
Appearance:
Anansi is a short boy with dark brown skin and 8 playful scarlet red eyes which peer through his messy mop of dreadlocks. Speaking of which, sitting atop his head and hanging down his face, Anansi wears a pair of messy black dreadlocks which fade to red near its tips.
The spindly boy always seems to wear a cocky, fang bearing grin as if he always has a trick of plot of mischief in his mind at every moment. (Which honestly isn't that far off)
And marked across his cheeks is a piece of white face paint. For as long as anyone's seen him in school he's always worn this paint. Reapplying it without fail day after day.
And finally for clothes, he's usually seen wearing his uniform in a very casual way. Around his neck are two multi-colored beaded necklaces. Beneath this he wears a grey turtle neck with rolled up sleeves, revealing a pair of black armbands with his magic ring on his right hand.
And around his waist is the sash that shows off his dorm. Colored black and orange, it later gives way to a silver web across the flap which rests atop his tied up blazer that's beneath the cloth. And finally on his legs are a pair of black slacks and sandals on his feet.
Oh and tied around his waist is a tanned gourd, being what his stave turned into when he became dorm leader. It's a reference to the gourd Anansi(myth) had which stored all the wisdom and stories in the world.
Personality:
Anansi to be blunt, is a little shit. He's a very playful and mischievous boy who often manipulates and weaves things to best suit what he needs to be done. This is mostly seem with how he handles getting the other dorms and students to both stop stepping on each other's toes and in giving each student who needs it therapy.
Instead of being honest and cooperative, using his analytical mind and a few other ways of finding information. Anansi often tricks and fools others into improving who they are. Even in his own dorm, it's never wise to fully trust the spider, because he always has some joke or trick to play. No matter if you're friend or foe.
Anansi is a very greedy person, often stealing, tricking, betting and playing for something he doesn't have. Even being the school therapist to assist Chiron was something anansi did was for a deal. He didn't do it out of kindness, but rather so he could receive a reward.
He's a person with a silver tongue amd a poisonous bite. Always weaving a web around those in front of him. And honestly despite his intelligence and skills in trickery, he often gets in his own way, getting too greedy for his own good, leaving him either beat up or in the same position he started in.
But while he is such a little shit, while he doesn't show it often, he can be caring and helpful to those who he views as being on equal or if possible beneath him in standing. He's always had a soft spot for people down on their luck. And often helps them as best he can. And especially for the slums he and Ruggie live in, you'll see the best side of anansi, he cares greatly for those there and really is an activist to get them better support. Even making many songs based on it. Though if he were to meet or see anyone from the Royal family, you are instantly marked for mischief.
This is a less noticeable part of Anansi but the boy is a giant creative nerd. He loves imagining stories sings and all sorts of other things in his mind while also making art. Despite his harsher parts he's a geek to be honest.
In summary: playful, intelligent, mischievous and at times protective and caring.
Unique Magic:
Hasn't awakened it yet
Trivia:
In Anansi's room, swaddled in a giant web in the corner of his room is a giant pile of all the "earned" items he's acquired over the school year. Often times you can see him swimming through it when he's bored
Anansi can produce natural spider silk and often uses it to get around, play tricks, and if he feels like it, weave actual stuff. He's probably made a subtle business about weaving clothes for people. Like need a bootleg expensive thing? Call Nancy
His fangs aren't just for show, they actually have venom in them. Though it's more just to numb and relax muscles.
Anansi is a giant nerd, if you can show him a story or piece of knowledge he hasn't read or heard of before, you can do that as an alternative to madool.
Anansi is actually really good friends with Ruggie, he loves collaborating with the hyena for pranks whenever possible. They grew up together and learned how to steal and trick people together
Continuing with this, Anansi has a deal with Ruggie where during holidays both bring back stuff for the slums. Ruggie brings back food, Anansi brings back the loot he's gained
Anansi loves playing drums, and is actually a really good performer and dancer, often times during winter holiday him and his family performed for the slums. Giving everyone some good entertainment and a rest from their worries. Anansi also often times drags ruggie to sing with them though he knows how well ruggie can sing and will tease him about it
He's like Spider-Man, often times you will see Anansi climbing on walls, ceilings etc.
Yes, he can see through each of his eyes, all 8 of them.
The spiders around campus are his little informants. Often giving him new information about students or activities coming up. To keep their support, he gives them flies bugs or whatever they feel like having for their service.
He often sneaks into NRC, both to mess with Leona and to study Yuu on any pointers on how to be a better prefect/therapist for all these students
A nickname for him is Nancy
If you want to see him blush, compliment him on his stories, it'll break his mask quicker than anything else. It always shocks him when someone actually likes them
If you dare him to move like a spider, don't. Just don't, you'll regret it. No one should be that flexible
