they love it on them they like to wear pieces of your suffering like jewels so that it hangs off their tongue in rapiers. they are allowed to arm-chair diagnose and cherrypick their poisons but you can't ever miss too many showers because that's, like, "fuckken gross?" so anyone mean is a narcissist. so anyone with visual tics is clearly faking it and is so cringe. but they get to scream and hit customer service employees because well, i got overwhelmed.

you keep seeing these posts about how people pleasers are "inherently manipulative" and how it's totally unfair behavior. but you are a people pleaser, you have an ingrained fawn response. in the comments, you have typed and deleted the words just because it is technically true does not make it an empathetic or kind reading of the reaction about one million times. it is technically accurate, after all. you think of catholic guilt, how sometimes you feel bad when doing a good deed because the sense of pride you get from acting kind - that pride is a sin. the word "manipulation" is not without bias or stigma attached to it. many people with the fawn response are direct victims of someone who was malignantly manipulative. calling the victims manipulative too is an unfair and unkind reading of the situation. it would be better and more empathetic to say it is safety-seeking or connection-seeking behavior. yes, it can be toxic. no, in general it is not intended to be toxic. there is no reason to make mentally ill people feel worse for what we undergo.

you type why is everyone so quick to turn on someone showing clear signs of trauma but you already know the fucking answer, so what's the point of bothering. you kind of hate those this is what anxiety looks like! infographics because at this point you're so good at white-knuckling through a severe panic attack that people just think you're stoic. even people who know the situation sometimes comment you just don't seem depressed. and you're not a 9 year old white kid so there's no way you're on the spectrum, you're not obsessed with trains and you were never a good mathematician. okay then.

you still haven't told your grandmother that you're in therapy. despite everything (and the fact it's helping): you just don't want her to see you differently.

werewolf soap who was raised in a pack/healthy dynamics etc etc and is very very well versed in wolf life because hes got neices and nephews and he's got cousins who had partners turn... and he discovers freshly turned werewolf reader

maybe a victim of one of the enemies, but werewolves and creatures and such are still largely hidden from the public eye so he scoops reader up and reader imprints on him without realizjng it but Soap just knows. Immediately uses all his knowledge to make it worse, make reader more dependent on him, his poor sweet pup :( Doesn't know anything about the world. No matter he'll teach them :)

And reader KNOWS something is wrong but the wires in their brain from not being helped by a sire and imprinting on Soap are all crossed and mangled in the early stages of their transformation. Most wolves nowadays are born into it, because it takes a signifcant effort to turn someone (not just a bite in this case. I'm imagining like. exchange of blood of varying amounts but typically a couple cups worth at least bc lycanthropy tends to be blood-bound like vampirism) so his poor baby is just so confused and distraught, all sickly and needy and confused :(

He's more than happy to help of course, and poor reader KNOWS that Soap isn't being normal about it, some gut instinct says this can't be right, and he's way too into this, but they also didn't know werewolves were real until like. a week ago when some douchebag kidnapped them.

So reader is trying to be understanding but can't because they're also feverish and the longer the month goes on the worse it gets as they get closer to becoming an actual werewolf.

By the time reader has any inclination that Soap has been treating them like a mate, not even courting, jsut straight into it, it's FAR too late for them, his metaphorical and literal jaws have snapped around their neck and he's never letting them go.

and if we're throwing a lil ghoap x reader into it, ghost as a vampire or some other creature who also knows jack shit abt werewolves other than Johnny (who is a bad example and has also been taking advantage of his ignorance to press Ghost's boundaries until Ghost asserts dominance. Soap swears one day he'll win, even if it means losing. Ghost thinks it's cute but narrows his eyes at Johnny anyway.)

And Soap is using this cute, disoriented civillian who he's got on him at all times to brush right past Ghost's boundaries because rhwy were ALL given the order to keep an eye on them. So Soap just walks up to Ghost and tucks reader into his arms with a blanket wrapped around them and presses reader's nose to Ghost's pulse point so they'll get used to his scent. Says soemthing about training recruits, and Ghost thinks its awfully cute the way reader sniffs so curiously like a new puppy at him, memorizing his scent. Thinks the smug way Soap looks when Ghost lets reader sleep on his chest is cute too, but instead of coddling Soap like he does reader a bit, Ghost wants to make Soap beg for forgiveness, the man grinding up into the sole of his boot desperately.

Ghost just snorts and says "Pushing it, MacTavish." and continues to let reader sleep on his chest, aware only that Soap is up to soemthing but hasn't quite figured out what yet. (He's not up to that chapter in the book about werewolves he's been reading, but Ghost decides he'll put in extra time later.)

Meanwhile poor reader who is literally in constant pain/feeling sick/etc is now undergoing a significantly more painful process of imprinting on TWO people, and the poor wires in their brain are so jumbled they'll never escape (which is what Soap wants)

A cold wind blows through the streets, sending a part of Sakusa's coat flying behind him. The man inevitably shivers as he buries his nose deeper into the knitted scarf and balls his gloved hands into fists.

Above his head, the sky is a very soft shade of gray, with the clouds so thickly condensed into a barrier for the sunlight. Across the dog playground a loud bark can be heard, the sound feeling all too familiar to the man.

He smiles softly beneath his mask when he sees the energetic doberman, happily approaching his friend. And soon enough, the owner joins Sakusa's side as well.

'Hi!' You greet him with a smile when you take your place on the man's right, with your back leaning against the metal fence.

'About time.' Sakusa's remark earns him an eye roll and he can't help gloating a little on the inside.

'Listen I almost had a mental breakdown over my hair you should be lucky I even got here.'

With a huff you cross your arms over your chest, blowing away a stray hair that disrupted your view. To your surprise however, Sakusa turns to face you, eyes roaming over the strands formed into a very messy updo.

'I told you before, your hair looks fine. You're stressing over nothing. Again.'

'It's not nothing!' You protested. 'I just wish I could make it look prettier. Like get the curls to be defined or something so it's not just a blob.' Your reasoning was followed by another eyeroll, this time accompanied by a small pout.

Sakusa looked in the direction of the two black dogs again and stood quiet for a couple of seconds before he called his pet over. The black shepard rushed over happily, with your doberman trailing behind him.

Once they were seated before the two of you, the man crouched down and secured the leash before turning towards you.

'Let's go.'

'Where?' You questioned while mirroring Sakusa's previous actions and following him through the gate of the playground.

'Just follow me.’ Was the only thing he let be revealed before switching the topic of the conversation. 'How was your day?'

Sakusa navigates the busy streets expertly while he keeps up the conversation with you, before his steps come to a halt in front of a store. It's a pet friendly one, of course it is, because even though you're not aware of it, he plans on spending at least forty-five minutes inside.

Brows slightly raised in curiosity, you trail behind him, only to nearly head face first into his broad back when he stops.

'Gah! Warn a woman next time?'

He promptly ignores you and instead reaches out to touch the front strands that fell out of your bun.

'Hm.'

Feeling slightly exposed by his soft touch and the proximity, you do your best at avoiding direct eye contact, which he fortunately doesn't seem notice.

'I think these would work best for your hair type.'

His arm stretches out and places two bottles in the basket he picked up on the way in, before continuing.

'You use the shampoo twice, only on the roots, and the conditioner once, just the ends.'

You can only manage a small nod, feeling kind of clueless with him leading you through the store like this.

'I should've made a list...oh well...these will do.'

He shoves another load of products in the basket and at this point you've given up on trying to be of use, giving him free reign instead.

So I think "there are only two sexes" isn't the best example; the comparison is more like "people can't change their gender because gender is whats in your pants"

Yes, we can look at chromosomes and hormones and sexual organs, and that stuff is related to gender. But to say "gender/sex is a construct" does not mean "chromosomes/hormones/sex organs don't exist." Its pointing out that our relationship to those things is culturally dependent (I wouldn't say "unnatural" because humans making social constructs is natural).

Similarly, we do divide up species based on reproduction and common ancestors. But "humanity" is also a construct. What it means to be human & who is defined as human can and does change depending on our culture. Not only can some people be excluded from humanity (for example, people of color and neurodivergents), but some people believe they are spiritually nonhuman (whatever that means for them). Some people who have been rejected from humanity identify as alterhuman as a way of saying "you don't want me, then I don't want you" (voidpunk is related to this although not inherently alterhuman). Some people are delusional and identify with alterhumanity as a way of coping with their delusions (and also, yes, you can be self-aware about your delusions). Some people believe in reincarnation or alternate universes or have some other spiritual belief related to being nonhuman. Some people just feel like dogs and enjoy being a dog and it doesn't matter why because they just like it.

Honestly, the monkey does sound like a monkey-version of alterhuman, because (if I can get a little anthropomorphize-y on y'all), it sounds like she did not feel apart of "monkey culture." Obviously we can't know if monkeys have a concept of monkey-hood like we do with humanity, but if they did it would not be hard to imagine how a monkey raised with humans would feel more human than monkey. But regardless... we don't need other species to have alter-species-hood for the same reason we don't need snails to crossdress for trans people to exist. Other animals probably don't have the same complex. abstract social constructs we do.

Why can't someone be a horse in a human body? For the same reason someone can't be a man in a woman's body- because "science says"? Both trans-denial and alterhuman-denial emphasizes biology over sociological investigation, which leads people to just keep shouting "but science!!!!!!!!!!" at people who are more invested in questions of culture and constructs and what it means to be [man/woman/human] in society.

Ok so idk if she actually counts but I'm submitting her and please throw her out if not. Here's why I think Tara was fridged: the sole purpose of her death was to further the plot and cause pain to other characters. Now, because it's Buffy, these other characters were women. So her death was only to cause pain to her girlfriend (ex-girlfriend? They were broken up but mending) Willow, cause her to relapse into magic, and then make her essentially the big bad of the season. All of this was then to cause Buffy, the protag, to have to fight her best friend and be told she needed to either stop her or kill her. So while Buffy and Willow are both women, Tara's death was solely to cause them pain as significant other and protagonist and to further the plot. (It's also bury your guys and Joss Whedon sooooo). Tara literally was killed sloppily for no other reason than as a plot device in a desperate "well we already killed our protag and brought her back to life, how do we raise the stakes from here" ploy necessitated by crappy writing. If she doesn't count, again please throw her out, but I feel like she counts as fridging esp when looking at how Joss Whedon rights Buffy in this season to essentially bc a self insert of man pain but as a woman.

Stuffing a woman in the fridge is one thing, but stuffing a queer woman who was one half of a beloved same-sex couple on a TV show famous for its strong female characters for the sake of drama while enforcing negative LGBT+ stereotypes in the process is really something else.

Her girlfriend, Willow essentially plays the role of the man in the relationship. Tara dies to facilitate her villain arc. Xander is also sad about her death and he is a man.

When exactly do you think Crocodile realized Luffy was his son? Like was it still in Impel Down? Couldn't Iva have told him Luffy was Dragon's son and Croc go 'ah, guess my ex had more kids'? Or was it when Sengoku announced it during the war?

Bc, the thing is, in order for Croc to conclude Luffy was his (since he didn't know Dragon's or his son's full names, cuz otherwise he would've recognized Luffy in Alabasta and not have tried to kill his son 3 times💀) the only clue Croc would've had would be Luffy's age /exact birth date. And for that to happen, my theory is that Iva mentioned to Croc that Luffy was Dragon's son, then on the ship towards Marineford Croc took a moment to ask Luffy what his age and birthday was, just out of curiosity.

But idk how well that ties into Croc's 180 during the war to help Luffy and save Ace that one time.

I doubt Iva-chan brought up the subject to Crocodile at all, they had more important things to worry about when escaping from Impel Down, and while there was downtime when sailing to Marineford, we see Iva-chan and Luffy talk about this; Luffy clarifies to Iva-chan that Ace isn't his blood-relative, when Iva-chan had been under the impression Ace was also Dragon's son

The key thing here is that Iva-chan was whispering

Which means Iva-chan wouldn't have wanted to let anyone else on the ship find out about Luffy being Dragon's son at this point. Thus, regardless of what history Croc has with Ivankov (and the Revs), I doubt they would've told Crocodile about Luffy and Dragon at this point (like Iva-chan went out of their way to mention how Crocodile couldn't be trusted in ID). Also considdering Jinbei didn't hear what Iva-chan said here, there should be no way Crocodile could've overheard this convo either.

So between that, and the actual Reveal Scene which I've discussed in the past (and specifically how sus it is that we don't see Croc's reaction), yeah I'm inclined to believe that's when Crocodile would've realized Luffy was his, at the begining of the war

And as I've also discussed in the past, considdering the circumstances that lead to Luffy being raised by Garp, and how Dragon (and Crocodile too) would've been well aware of that from the begining. I don't think Dragon would've ever remarried or had another child with anybody else, and most importantly, I'm sure Crocodile would've known that too. So the second Crocodile heard Luffy was Dragon's kid, he would've been hit with the realization that Luffy had to be his. Like Dragon would've been insane if he went and had another child after Luffy was born, or he would've had to been cheating on Crocodile and while Dragon may be a loser he surely wouldn't be that kind of a loser. Like the options would've been that either that really is Croc's baby boy, or there's some kind of a mistake and it's not their kid.

(Interestingly, Crocodile did seem to continue to pursue Whitebeard even after the announcement from Sengoku, and only began assisting after 1) the battle had moved onto the square, 2) WB got both stabbed and 3) his crew had proved themselves to be a pain in the ass for Crocodile. So it's possible Crocodile only changed his objectives because his original plan had gone sour. But also, Crocodile jumps in to protect Luffy from Mihawk immidiately after Luffy shows off his Conqueror's Haki. And like. I dunno, he hadn't been in a hurry to assist Luffy until then, so if Crocodile had been kind of waiting for something to actually confirm to him that Luffy really was Dragon's son and not some random, bizarrely sturdy child... Yeah, the dumbass having fucking Conqueror's Haki could be it, the confirmation Crocodile needed.)

I really appreciate you defending our boy so valiantly and with such well thought out, concise arguments! As someone who has ADHD, and has struggled with depression my whole life, I immediately latched onto Gale bc I see so much of myself in him!! There is SO much to love about him and he's one of those characters that helps me be more compassionate to myself (self recognition through the other for the win!) so seeing fans constantly shit on him is disheartening and really annoying, but to see the actual DEVELOPERS talk about "yeah that guy sucks he's SO annoying everyone would be better off if he had just killed himself" is.....ooof.

BUT thankfully when I start feeling really upset we've got blogs like you to ride to our favorite wizard's defense and help celebrate all the things we love about this beautiful, complex character! i normally try to ignore these things because at the end of the day, they are meaningless.

but... not only does this come from the devs, but this hit a bit too close to home for me as well.

i've been struggling a lot with depression myself for the better part of a decade now.

i'll try to put my feelings into words bc how they have chosen to respond here and the message they are sending actually upsets me. i know i'm repeating myself at this point so sorry for sounding like a broken record myself, but:

gale is clearly coming out of a depression & self-isolation & struggles with suicidal ideation.

there is absolutely no sugarcoating that.

despite that, once he has no choice but to travel again after he's been abducted by the nautiloid, or perhaps because of it, he can't help himself. he can't isolate himself again. he's happy to talk and connect with not only the protag, but also the companions. he talks a lot, he cooks for them, and yes, sometimes he can be overbearing. he tends to overexplain. he corrects himself for talking too much, being too much. he's very aware of that perception of him and it's still an insecurity of his by the time the epilogue rolls around. it's in the devnotes. it's in the way he thanks the protag for encouraging him to attend the get-together at all.

i thought (foolishly, apparently) that at least the people who created the game and who are colleagues with gale's writer, had the emotional maturity and intelligence to recognise that and also see how that could be something a part of their player base emphasises and connects with.

gale being described as the one who annoys everyone and him dying as the "right" ending, as making up for being perceived as "annoying" by those around him, "inconveniencing" them by being ill and asking for a treatment, and his death being contextualised as "giving" back "to the world" is just...

it's so fucking disgusting to me.

If the core of your activism isn't a deep, profound love for vulnerable people then like...idk what's the fucking point? I fight terfs because I love trans people. I fight nazis bcs I love jewish and romani and queer and disabled people. I fight racism because so many people I love aren't white. I fight ableism because I love the disabled and mentally ill. I fight fatphobia bcs I love fat people. I fight classism bcs I love poor people. I fight oppression because I love humanity, and I firmly believe that we all deserve a better, kinder world.

And so should it turn out that some facet of my activism is hurting more people than it's helping I want to know so I can stop and reevaluate if such actions are actually worthwhile or if there's something else I could be doing to help. Progress will probably always have some collateral damage, but we should care about minimizing it as much as possible bcs I don't want to hurt vulnerable people while trying to fight for them.

Telling bad people to kill themselves does not make the world a better place. It isn't a substitute for deplatforming, or being aware of dogwhistles, or protesting, raising money or charity, volunteering, educating yourself and the people in your community, voting in local elections or showing up at city council meetings, just giving some cash to an unhoused person, or doing things that actually make our spaces safe for the people who need our help. All it does is hurt trauma victims and the mentally ill. And tbh it will probably get your account banned, which is what the bigots want. You're silencing yourself FOR them. So why not stop doing it and start doing something that will actually make positive change.

And it's okay to be angry. It's important to be angry! And no one is arguing that you have to be nice to nazis or racists or fatphobes. They should be deplatformed. But god all I'm fucking asking is for us to care more about helping the oppressed than we do about dunking on bigots online for clout points, especially when said dunking causes real, measurable harm to marginalized people. There are better ways to dismantle the power bigots have garnered, ways that don't make progressive spaces hostile for vulnerable people.

Wouldn't you rather minimize the harm you do to the vulnerable than bulldoze over them in your quest for a better world? Aren't you fighting to protect them? Aren't you showing up because you care about them and want them to have a future? Isn't it all about love in the end??

It seems that many fanartists (and even artists who make canon Stormlight art) go through a period where they've assumed that the characters are basically Fantasy White, and then there's a period of relearning what the characters look like from WoBs or other sources, and maybe even having to learn how to draw epicanthic folds and different skin tones. Sudden updated lore drop! Still marinating, still under reconstruction. So it's a bit foggy and I'm not sure if many stuff but here, since I got an opportunity ✨

Now that I've rewritten my own version of hpma story to follow my theory about how Daniel will bertray Elliot and will rat out NOTME, here's how it now goes:

Because Elliot suggested Daniel to join him, rather than NOTME in general, I believe Elliot isn't content with how things are in NOTME even though he seemingly holds a higher position there, if the Chinese first anniversary event is anything to judge by.

And with that, the rest of NOTME aren't exactly content of him either, especially the more loyal members and the actual leader. Elliot prefers to do things his way but he needed a partner in crime, which he found in Daniel. He perhaps often visits Hogwarts or Hogsmeade, even after graduation, so he could team up with Daniel when he needed him. So, he becomes less present/active in NOTME, which raises suspicions in the group. Some even suspect that he indeed has a new team or partner now, but without much evidence. One of the members, however, figures he could see if that's the case.

Daniel, on the other hand, agreed solely to get closer to NOTME and gather evidence against them. All of them, to rat every single one of them, this way, proving his mom has nothing to do with the organization. And while he didn't really get as close to NOTME as he wished (as in. not at all) he still managed to collect some evidence, but it wasn't enough, not until he meets at least one other member.

And the member showed up.

This part is bit blurry and needs to marinate but essentially, Daniel gets to meet Morgan (well, more so the other way around) and Daniel is aware that Morgan is part of NOTME, the same way Morgan knows Daniel is Elliot's new partner in crime. But the two, so far, don't rat each other out, Daniel because he wants to collect more evidence on other NOTME members and doesn't want to rat them out one by one but rather in groups/all together (bc if he didn't the group would sorta panic) and Morgan just doesn't see what benefits he could gain by telling other NOTME members about his being Elliot's helper, as he's primarily focused on his own gain in the group, not having much attachment/trust/respect for them.

While starting out tense,on Daniel's part mostly, the two end up, accidentally and surprisingly, striking a bit of a friendship, hanging out with other often until the two got rather close.

Which backfires against Daniel's original plan: rat NOTME out. Because before, he didn't care for any of the members. Now he does. He does care for one of them and he struggles to chose what to do, because he knows he can't just hide Morgan's identity and rat out the rest without him being revealed too at some point, no matter what he does, but neither is he willing to give up his revenge plan against NOTME, it's a lose-lose situation for him, a hard choice he struggles to make.

A part of me also believes Morgan, being a rather sharp individual with pretty good detective skills, has figured out Daniel's intentions and he knows that there's a possibility Daniel might rat him out, betraying him. And he... Doesn't know how to feel about it. On one hand, he doesn't want to go to Azkaban, obviously, especially not with his health. But on the other, he too, cares for Daniel a lot and he knows of the case about his mother, so he knows he's doing it for her and as someone who himself lost his family... He just wishes Daniel luck in reuniting with his mother and making things right, he genuinely wished Daniel happiness. He's just...not yet sure if he's willing to do so at his own expense. And he too, can't make a choice of whenever or not stopping him or letting him rat him out too.

Seeing previous anon talking about cats, makes me suddenly want to talk about TS' cats.

Apparently a lot of people didn't know that she BOUGHT all three of her cats from BREEDERS while going around saying she ADOPTED them. The terms "adopt" are actually coined by breeders to mask animal trade that they're doing. Since a lot of people have been campaigning to adopt animals instead of shopping for them. It's kind of disheartening for someone claiming themselves to be hardcore cat-lover to BUY cat breed that has been proven to suffer due to their genetic mutations and inbreeding instead of adopting from the local shelters which will certainly help boost adoption rate for the neglected animals.

Also, one thing that I've noticed throughout being a former Swiftie, is that she never actually sends donation to animal shelters as far as I know. All of the donations were raised in her name only by the shelter itself or by the fans. Like during her last birthday, a lot of animal shelters asked for donations in her name in order to celebrate her birthday. Like the project itself is great I think but can't the billionaire perhaps send the donation first so her fans can follow her example? It will certainly gain more traction to the cause.

My point is that, TS and her fans seems to be doing a lot of things like this isn't she? Acting like she's doing something special or virtuous while the truth is she's not doing much for the cause? Her fans like to argue that she shouldn't be expected to raise awareness bcs she's not a politician but wasn't TS the one who claimed herself to be an activist or some sort? Of course people are now expecting her to act the part of what she claimed herself to be.

I was thinking abt book Alicent and how people talk abt how "fake" she was for calling Rhaenyra 'daughter' when she first married Viserys but like. It's entirely plausible that Alicent was legitimately fond of Nyra as a child.

Alicent is 18 when she's married and she, like everyone else, is under the impression that Rhaenyra is an heir presumptive until Alicent has a son. At this point, Nyra isn't a threat to Alicent or her family - she's just a child that Alicent is now expected to raise and care for, when Alicent isn't much more than a child herself.

There's no reason for her not to hold genuine affection for a little girl who is clearly in need of a parental figure in her life, and who was apparently a very sweet and cheerful kid. Not to mention Alicent (who was married at 18 but was likely groomed to be a wife from childhood) would probably be quite sympathetic to Nyra bc she would be aware that Rhaenyra would likely be in the same position as Alicent herself in a few years time, marrying either Alicent's own son or another high lord while still a teenager.

I think she displays honest concern about little Rhaenyra's safety with Criston Cole, not out of malice or to imply that a nine year old girl is somehow 'promiscuous', but because as a woman in Westeros, Alicent knows first hand that men can be extremely predatory to young children. While I don't believe mushroom's assertion that 14 year old Alicent provided "other" comforts to a dying Jaehaerys, I would argue that the fact such a thing is even suggested speaks to a culture where girls are sexualized at an extremely young age.

We know that as a child, Rhaenyra was besotted with Cole. And while it seems like everyone (including Alicent) recognized it as an innocent crush on Rhaenyra's end, if Criston had ended up being a different kind of man he could very easily leverage his influence over Rhaenyra to groom and victimize her the way Daemon did. Asking "who protects the princess from Ser Criston" isn't an underhanded insult, it's a valid concern that Alicent of all people would be aware of.

Obviously their relationship quickly deteriorates as Rhaenyra gets older and becomes a greater threat, but there's nothing in Fire and Blood that suggests Alicent came into her marriage to Viserys and immediately started "beefing" with her nine year old stepdaughter. I find it far more plausible that Alicent initially had every intention of being a good stepmother to Rhaenyra, but the circumstances just unfolded in a way that made that relationship unsustainable.
