The thing about how sam’s arc in season 4 is often discussed is that people simultaneously acknowledge that the angels are bad, while claiming Sam is an idiot for rebelling against them.

like I have listened through three (3) rewatch podcasts and they always seem to fall into this loop of going ‘hey the angels are Obviously up to no good’ while also going ‘Sam is really stupid. Why would he trust a demon when literal angels are telling him to stop’

okay i started crying so hard i couldn’t speak when he first said hi, and he was so lovely and instantly reassured me it was okay. he said that it’s the best honour as a voice actor because it means that his characters and his emotions reached someone, and then i cried harder. i gave him a card i wrote for him and he thanked me and put it with his things to keep it safe and my heart was racing so hard i think everyone in the entire con could hear it. i got to show him my tattoos and he got pictures of them and a video of my snk one and he told me i’m braver than he is because he’s too afraid of needles to get a tattoo. i told him that kirito means so much to me because of my ptsd and i was able to connect to him and find comfort in him, so he said that when they started dubbing phantom bullet he researched ptsd and wanted to understand it even though he doesn’t have it he wanted to be respectful and be able to connect with it so he could do justice to that character and his story. and then he recorded a cute video in kirito’s voice for me and i told him that i made my middle name eren and he congratulated me and said it’s a good name and he’s honoured that he was part of that journey and decision and then we got a picture together and i was crying so hard. also he’s so short i was so surprised by how much taller i was 😭

everyone is fighting wars and shit and then bran is on some mystical journey and chatting with a man in a tree LOL

joke’s aside, i like bran’s story a lot. it’s super connected to the lore of the GOT universe and that makes it interesting, plus, i care about him as a character (gotta love the starks). all that being said, i think where it falls short is that it can feel SO disconnected from what everyone else is doing. i mean ofc he’s connected (three eyed raven and all that), but his journey feels very independent to sansa or arya or jon’s journey. he encounters comparatively fewer characters in the story, so we kind of lose that really cool sense of “everything is connected” for a while.

his personal journey is interesting for sure and learning about the magic present in the north through him is a good way to introduce the history of the godswood and magic and stuff, but there’s a distinctive lack of the “game of thrones”, if that makes sense. in fact, i’d argue that he’s the only stark who isn’t obviously playing it for the majority of the show (this isn’t to say that it isn’t revealed in the later seasons that he IS), which disconnects him almost entirely from the main narrative.

bran makes his journey north, becomes a greenseer, and manipulates the past to preserve himself (and his family), but his story feels largely disconnected from the main arc until he discovers the truth about jon snow’s parentage (among a few other things).

all this being said, i’m only at the end of season 4 of my rewatch, but this is just what i’m noticing about it the second time around after many years. and i DO remember liking the payoff of realizing bran has had a hand in his own fate (and the fates of those around him) the entire time, so i’m not knocking that (and maybe i’ll change my mind when i see it again). i can appreciate the build of suspense as he makes his journey north and then the satisfaction of finally understanding the specifics of what has happened.

anyway, all this to say that i think what i feel is missing in bran’s story, at least through the middle, is the sense of interconnectivity the character’s actions tend to have. the whole series has this “butterfly effect” sense to it through practical means, but bran’s actions throughout the beginning of the story and on his journey seem to happen largely within a vacuum (when compared to the other characters). it isn’t until there is an ACTUAL butterfly effect that we begin to feel just how interconnected bran is to the rest of the story, which has great payoff but can kind make you furrow your brow when we see his group trudging through the snow again towards the middle of the series (to me, even the bolton’s going after him felt super disconnected for some reason lol).

anyway those are my two cents on this very very old subject even though no one asked. take it with a grain of salt though, i’ve forgotten a LOT of the main series since i haven’t watched the show all the way through since the finale aired on cable haha

Random food I discovered today that I think would make an interesting Cookie Run character: black sapote

They’re a tropical fruit related to persimmon that grow in the Central America area

I find them particularly interesting because they apparently taste like chocolate (and also caramel?), and they’re only ripe and good to eat when they look dark, rotted and kind of gross

I mention these things because I feel like there’s potential here for an interesting Cookie given those unique traits, I just don’t know what to do with it

From a very young age, Kaeya held such a fondness for handholding. Whether it was his father clinging tightly to him to make sure he didn’t get lost, Adelinde’s gentle, grounding hand closed over his to comfort him whenever his nerves got the better of him, Crepus’s rough-palmed, firm yet comforting grip as he brought him back home, or, as it was most often of all, Diluc’s warm, yet at times uncomfortably tight hold as he dragged him anywhere, everywhere, determined to always keep Kaeya close and eagerly show him all there was to see, Kaeya treasured the gesture greatly.

Of course, being as shy as he was, initiating it himself was always the harder part. So much so, he would tend to hold pinkies, rather than outright take a person’s hand in his own. Eventually, it would become his most common way to go about the gesture of affection.

After the most recent tmg pod episode I just gotta say, don’t touch people you don’t know and don’t touch the ones you do know without boundaries discussed or consent.

I know people care more about what’s going on with certain pods in the comments (I don’t watch’em so it’s not my concern.) But only one or two other people even acknowledged it at all. Maybe Noel didn’t wanna make a big deal out of it and that’s fully within his right to do so. But fuck man.. SA is never okay and I hope he’s doing alright.
