Challenging a Queen - a love letter
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look, at first this post was going to be about Look into me (my first love when it comes to this game's soundtrack and still one of the songs I adore the most).
Then I wanted to wax poetic about You and I and You and I reprise (three different versions of the reprise depending on what you do with the throne and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn's glorious voice, yes, please! Plus Persephone and Grace is my personal OTP).
After that I moved on to The Throne because I think it's both absolutely awesome and absolutely bonkers you get two themes to mix and match there instead of only one (1st theme based on your first choice and the 2nd on your answer to Orpheus' question). It's still a huge, HUGE personal favourite.
(I will still write love letters to these three songs eventually.)
But then I read Austin Wintory's commentary on the Pantheon version of the soundtrack he posted on YouTube and it caught my attention that he called Challenging a Queen the most complex song in the game. Previous to reading that I had thought it was the same as a lot of the other songs - three main themes that you just get to mix and match but aside from that nothing much changes. Oh, how wrong I was!
Reading that comment made me curious about trying different combinations to see what would happen and once I started doing that I was completely blown away. Because it turns out that this song is anything BUT simple! The choices are even more interlinked here than in most other songs and the possible combinations that lead to different outcomes are so, SO many!
Based on my experimentation (8+ hours of gameplay that's only replaying this one song)  I have discovered the following:
1. The first choice you make directly influences the second. So if you go from Green to Red for example you get a completely different outcome than if you had gone from Red to Green.
2. The first choice also influences the third/middle one. BXGXX is not the same as RXGXX or GXGXX (X stands for any colour). In the case of middle Red, I think, there's the most possibilities because there the second choice also comes into play. For example the banter between Grace and Persephone is different if you go with RBRXX (which is the same as RRRRR) or RGRXX.
3. Then the third and fourth choices also influence each other and lead to different combinations. Say, XXBRX is decidedly not the same as XXRBX.
4. Last but most certainly not least that pesky first choice continues to have an effect until the very end. The combination between it and your fifth or, sometimes, fourth and fifth choice/s is what leads to all sorts of different and unique endings you can get.
That's already a super complex song structure that I'm still not sure I have figured out completely, to be honest. I continue to experiment with different combinations and plan to try to see if I can compile a guide to all the possibilities here. I'm very much not statistically or mathematically inclined so this has been a bit of a struggle but I'm also having so much fun trying to pick apart this song that I don't really mind.
I've never experienced anything like this in any game before and honestly playing around with this song has been a revelation. The amount of screaming I have done in front of my laptop every time I come upon something new is insane. I've come to a point where I have bits and pieces of Challenging a Queen rattling around my head at all times and I LOVE it! Because, as weird as it sounds, I have not become bored with this song even after so many hours of listening to it. I happen to love all the different permutations and listening to Laura Bailey and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn try to outperform each other is far, FAR from a hardship. In fact it's an absolute joy.
I'll leave you with what's probably my most favourite discovery about this song: there are 17 different endings you can discover. 17!!! That's insane! Or at least that's as many as I have personally discovered and I am still very much in awe. If you're curious about checking them out on your own, here goes:
1-4 - RRRRR, BBBBB, GGGGG with a Charming Grace and GGBGG or GGRGG with a Clever or Kickass Grace. These are what I call the regular or classic endings. You're pretty much guaranteed to discover these.
5-8 - BXXBG, RXXBG, GXXBG with Clever or Kickass Grace and one extra XXXBG ending for Charming Grace. The first choice does not matter for Charming Grace, the ending is always the same no matter what.
9-11 - BXXGR, RXXGR and GXXGR
12-14 - BXXBR, RXXBR and GXXBR
15-17 - BXXRB, RXXRB and GXXRB
What I find impressive (aside from the huge number of endings) is that the endings from 5 and onward are all genuinely combined endings. They're not just alternative versions of the RR, GG or BB endings, they're a combination of approaches and/or musical styles and I cannot even begin to express how much I adore that.
I'm not going to lie, doing the experimentation for the GR, BR and RB endings in particular hurt my feelings a whole lot because I'm a Persephone stan and hate to see her trounced by Grace so thoroughly when I know she's actively grieving Calliope. But what really broke my heart (again as a Persephone stan) is those BG endings. Those have made me cry actual tears (the only other ending that's had this effect was GG with Clever or Kickass Grace). They're also the only endings I've been able to discover that have the camera panning down instead of sideways and come with their own backdrop. Discovering my first version of them had me squealing like mad and feeling like an archaeologist who'd discovered priceless ancient treasures. They're probably my personal favourites, all of them. Both because they're so unique and because I love how compassionate Grace is in them. As much as I do think Grace is badass when she wins, I love her being soft and understanding towards Persephone a whole lot more.
I'll stop here because this is already a wall of text for which I'd apologise but this is not even all my thoughts and feelings on this song. I just have so many! Now off to listen to it again and work on my guide.

something that perplexes me is how many people play the zero escape games with english voices. most of the people I've watched play it have opted for the english dub, so I've heard it more times than I've heard the japanese dub (which is what I've used every time I've played the games). and while I mostly think that the english dub is fine for the most part, I still find it a bit lackluster. rena strober in particular reads all of akane's lines in a way that sounds stiff, emotionless, and artificial - which is a problem, given her significance to the series! I do like some of the english voice cast; evan smith does a great job as junpei, and I actually adore cindy robinson's performance as zero III even more than tarako's. overall, the english dub has pros and cons; it's acceptable, but leaves a lot to be desired for me personally.
the real problem for me, though, was the lack of attention to detail in maintaining consistency. in vlr, you get to hear a recording from the mars mission test site where diana speaks. notably, she has the same voice actress as luna in both versions - mamiko noto in japanese and laura bailey in english. this is meant to be intriguing by making you as the player wonder why they sound so similar! but it seems to me that the director of the english dub likely interpreted this as a cost-cutting measure and instructed laura bailey to speak in a lower voice, which severs the connection a little. and then, because diana's english voice actress in zero time dilemma changed to eden riegel, the connection is severed altogether! in the same vein, k is voiced by daisuke ono in japanese, and ono then goes on to voice sigma in zero time dilemma, which makes perfect sense considering they should, by all logic, have the same voice. however, in english, k is voiced by travis willingham, and sigma is voiced by matt mercer. why!? it's just frustrating to witness decisions like this in a series that has such remarkable consistency in japanese.

Whenever I read your Caline comics, I always imagine their voices kind of like softer versions of Percy and Vex (Taliesin Jaffe and Laura Bailey) from The Legend of Vox Machina!! I don't know if you've seen it or not, I just think it's neat (especially because Percy and Vex are ADORABLE together and one of my favorite opposite-gender ships, right up there with Caleb and Kitty <3)
I've heard of The Legend od Vox Machina but haven't looked into it much.
I did just check out some scenes with them together and must agree! The voices certainly fit :3

the fact that it's canon that vex's attitude towards keyleth wasn't solely due to codependency but also bc she actually adores her a lot, she totally gets what vax sees in her but she can't afford to feel that way especially if her brother's letting his guard down.... vex trying to reassure keyleth regarding her brother's behavior by saying "maybe he was pretending he didn't like you bc he was uncomfortable bc he liked you so much. maybe he just wanted to kiss you"... laura and her choices
Oh yeah. The specification in this ask of "she cant afford to feel that way, especially if her brother is letting his guard down" is just. 👌👌👌👌. There are so many LAYERS to it, the way that it comes off as jealousy (and it IS), and the way that it maybe comes off as fear (because it IS), but its not just about losing her brother, its about the prospect of opening up- to kindness and cruelty- and being vulnerable and all the ways it puts you in danger. (And no matter appearances, both Keyleth and Vax are better at it than her, right? Braver about it. And maybe that's hard to swallow.) Its always easier to frame it in the lens of her brother- in a mistake he is making, in a threat to their relationship, in a fear he is working to overcome- than it is to process it in the context of her. Because doing that is dangerous, for Vex, in a way it isn't for Vax, for Keyleth, for all these fools that love easier and trust easier and are, perhaps, braver for it.
(I also like the added layer if you read it as: that to an extent, Vex didn't even really know how much she cared about Keyleth. Maybe, at least in the start, Vex was only half aware of the way the fear and concern and jealousy and admiration intertwine and can come out ugly. It was easiest to stomach it as fear about her brother, fear about them as a unit, fear about their dual safety. But- there's so much to it. There's so much to it.)
And it's all canonical!!! I am always being spoiled by Laura Bailey Characters being flawed in the indulgent ways I hope for them to be. What lovely, crunchy characterization. 👌👌👌

Hi CJ, how would you rank the Ghostfaces?
Hey, Anon.
My ranking varies day to day so I’ll just tell you what it happens to be atm.
1: Mickey Altieri. Are you surprised? No, probably not. He’s been my number one ever since I can remember. He’s strong, brutal fast and GOD, he’s so fucking fine my heart cannot take it. Plus, he’s the first Ghostface to have an unmasking reveal and a bitch LOVES the unmasking reveals. He’s my baby girl and I love him forever. Also, I’m in love with Timothy Olyphant.
2: Stu Macher. He’s also my baby girl. I just love him so much he’s so funny and cute and brutal. Invented the iconic knife swipe GOD. I just adore every single thing about him.
3: Billy Loomis. Babe. Babe, babe, BABE. He’s so pretty I want to burst into flames. Complex baby girl fr my heart goes out to him. Again, brutal! “We all go a little mad sometimes.” RAIL. ME.
4: Amber Freeman. Best female Ghostface hands down. Her kills style is so chaotic and messy I LOVE it. She killed Dewey which aches my fragile little heart but you gotta give her props for doing it. She’s so hot. SO. HOT. She’s also literally insane and I like em crazy.
5: Ethan Landry. Although he doesn’t have a “hIgH KiLl cOuNt” I couldn’t give a flying cunt on a donut. He’s baby. His Anika kill was absolutely insane and his whole attitude in Act 3 was so fucking enjoyable. Just running around having a grand old time. Mood.
6: Charlie Walker. I’ve been experiencing some insane Charlie brain rot lately so he’s sky rocketed on my list, he may go higher who knows. Most brutal kill in the franchise, the phone call with Sidney, “I’m going to slit your eyelids in half so you don’t blink when I stab you in the face.” OKAY!!!! he’s fucking adorable I want to sit on his fucking face.
7: Quinn Bailey. She’s fast. Fuck she’s fast. She’s hot. Fuck she’s hot. She had so many feelings I honestly felt for her. Gale’s attack scene was so fucking cool. Her fake out death had me tbh. I love her, just not as much as others. Also, “Heyyyy roomies.” She can HIT.
8: Richie Kirsch. I don’t like him, I don’t hate him. He’s just pretty meh to me. His kills are cool I guess? I like that he goes for the throat. Jack Quaid’s acting was fucking phenomenal. He was funny and I really would’ve preferred him as a final boy.
9: Jason Carvey. Wasted. Potential. His Laura kill was so fucking brutal oh my GOD. I would have loved to see him more as a Ghostface because he would’ve been so cool.
Now to those I hate. Fuckers.
10: Nancy Loomis. Ugh. Nancy. Nancy, Nancy, Nancy. Fuck off. Bitch. You think you can kill my guy Randy? Fuck you. You think you can hire my baby girl Mickey and just betray him like that? Fuck you, you didn’t even succeed in killing him. Fuck off with your one kill. I like her motive though although like… Why did you just leave Billy? Make it make sense.
11: Wayne Bailey. God. I actually used to like him a lot but after rewatching I was like ew. No. NO. I get Sam killed your precious baby boy but like… You have two other children and you had to ruin their lives because of your sons obsession with Stab? Fuck you. His kills were amazing though I have to hand it to him. The bodega scene is top tier.
12: Roman Bridger. Okay. I adore Scott Foley. I cannot stand Roman. Imagine getting a whole teenager to kill your fucking mom because you’re too much of a little bitch to do it yourself. Grow up. Also, he’s so fucking whiny like oh my GOD just shut the fuck up, nobody cares what you have to say. His whole character and backstory was just horrible in my opinion.
13: Jill Roberts. Not a surprise to anyone. I hate her. I hate her and her boring ass character. Her two kills were boring and shitty and also I despise Emma Roberts. I will say nothing more about it.

Ok so I said in a previous post that I’d talk about what my ideal cast of VA’s for the Mario movie would be, so I came up with afew ideas:
Luigi and Mario- good old Charles Martinet, there is literally no one else that I can picture voicing them.
And yes they will have beautiful and adorable Italian accents because FUCK YOU ITS WHAT THIS FILM DESERVES.
Bowser- Jack Black can stay, but I would pitch his voice down just a little more, and then it would be perfect. Plus I guess we gotta have at least one celeb in here for marketing.
Peach- peach’s voice was probably the hardest for me to choose from. But I came up with a lot of great voice actresses that can do a classic high pitched princess voice: Jodi Benson, Tara strong, Laura Bailey, Hynden Walsh, etc.
Toad- I also have quite afew ideas on who could voice toad. Keagan Michael key is doing a decent job, but I feel like he could be a little more raspy and higher. I think Michaela Dietz would be really good considering how well she did in distant lands, or even Richard Horvitz.
Donkey Kong- Patrick Warburton would fit DK 100%, Seth Rogens got nothing compared to Kronk.
I’d keep Kamek the same because Kevin Michael Richardson has amazing range and is qualified.
I’ll prob do a part 2 (;

Tiefling, goliath, eisfuura, cleric, sorcerer
Tiefling: who is your favorite female player
Ooh that's tough. I feel like I have to say Laura Bailey, because the way she plays her characters just makes me so emotional--there are just these moments when she made me cry, especially in C2. She was also one of the VA's I knew of before starting CR, so I was excited to see her play!
Goliath: who is your favorite campaign 1 character
AH this is so hard. I wanna say it's like a three way tie between Percy, Keyleth, and Vax. I love them all a lot. But I don't know, I think there's something I especially love about seeing Kiki now after how far she's come, and everything she's been through. I just have a lot of fondness for her and it makes me excited for more of TLOVM :')
Eisfuura: who is your favorite npc
This feels like cheating almost, because it's just so predictable for me, but--Lucien without question. I adore his wit and charm and dramatic villain monologues--which we now know are inspired by him literally being an actor, and I'll never get over that. He quotes his favorite lines sometimes. He's always looking to put on a show, to become part of something grand.
He's playful, and there are moments when you see a bit of vulnerability behind the mask. And even though he's the villain of the final arc, his character is just so tragic, it makes you still kind of want to root for him a little.
And seeing Matt play Lucien is very fun because it's like watching this eerie sort of mirror image of Taliesin's performance as Mollymauk. The little quirks and mannerisms inherited from Molly, the charm and showmanship and banter. A personality that's become warped, twisting Molly's dreams and desires into something darker. And yet, for every striking difference, there are ripples and echoes of the same Circus Man we know. It's really amazing to watch Matt act all of that out.
Even the way he does Lucien's laugh has this eerie echo of Molly to it that really does remind me of Taliesin. I think that's what makes his performance so appealing to me, that it's not just a character of Matt's--but a character that's almost like this collaboration between them.
Cleric: what is your favorite battle
Again, probably expected, but--that final fight with Lucien. I'm just so weak for stories like this. Where the final villain used to be someone beloved by the other characters before they were lost to them somehow. It makes the conflict so much more personal and just gets me so emotionally invested.
Narratively, thematically--there's just so much to love about this fight. The way Lucien and the Nein are able to manifest whatever they imagine in the Astral Sea through sheer will. The ever present, constant threat of the Nein slowly gaining more and more Eyes, the sense of urgency and finite time.
The whole mechanic where characters are rewarded for trying to reach back out to Molly!! Heartfelt pleas and gutting reminders, the Nein all holding out their hands to Molly. The fact that Jester and Caleb seem to be the ones most consistently able to get through to him, fighting hardest to free him--and then they're the ones Lucien goes after and kills, because to him they're the biggest threat, a representation of the thing he most fears.
That shard of Molly's soul still present, reacting so viscerally whenever his friends are hurt. The way the end of that fight is just so heart-wrenching and gutting and leaves me teary eyed. The perfect parallels to Jester's tarot reading. I'm still not over any of it.
Sorcerer: what is your favorite sam commercial skit
tHE ELDERMANCY COCKTAIL!! There's just. So much going on here. Watching the slow decent into utter chaos, everyone trying to stop him with each new horrible, terrible addition he pours in. The moment he takes that first sip. The horror. The regret.
The realization he just drank like 3 shots of absinthe in an espresso with yogurt. The fact that all this happens?? I believe?? In the episode where we were all horrified there'd be a TPK in that big fight with the Tombtakers?? Literally everything about this whole situation was so cursed I love it.

SCREAMS
okay i feel horribly guilty about abandoning any of my ideas as lost to the cosmos SO i am going to provide concepts that i MIGHT write but for right now are just kind of hanging out in my brain
backstory swap AND class swap. i've discussed some of this with my friend in the discord dms, and i MIGHT write it, but it's kinda hanging out in the back of my brain rn. but !! vex and vax are still bastard children, but syldor is a Lot more important - he's a noble at the level of the de rolos. so vex and vax are whisked away to live with him and his wife, because i'm shuffling around the timeline, and their younger half-sister, who they adore actually. but then, a visiting couple from wildemount turn what should have been a diplomatic dinner into a bloodbath. vex escapes, with vax being killed (or so she thinks) as she runs, syldor and velora she KNOWS are dead, and a smoke demon finds her, instead. vax is the cass of this au, secretly alive and used by the briarwoods. meanwhile, percy and cass were part of a large family in some little village, busy with their hands full but happy, until a dragon razes the whole place to the ground. percy and cass are the only survivors - percy learns the woods as a ranger, cass learns the cities as a rogue, and both of them set their sights on vengeance. (also, pike as a barbarian who goes into a rage when the goliaths are beating up grog, who wilhand teaches to be a cleric. keyleth, rebellling under the pressure of her aramente, runs away as a travelling bard. scanlan as a druid, taking to the woods as forest gnomes actually do, but no less of a crass guy
okay HEAR ME OUT. nier replicant au. idk if these fandoms intersect AT ALL but i don't care. vex and kaine are both played by laura bailey, they're both crass badass ladies, and they're both the loves of my life. kaine is a half-shade - SPOILERS FOR NIER REPLICANT, shades being the monsters that plague the world of nier replicant, former human souls dislocated from their bodies centuries ago who have gone insane - and in this au, the shade that possesses vex would be saundor. percy as nier, who's on a quest to save his sister (cass) from a disease believed to be incurable, who ends up dooming the world to its own end because of his determination. it's doomed, it's dark, and also liam o'brien voices a floating book in a voice that kinda sounds like vax's but more dramatic and bitchy, so i think this au justifies itself
pokemon trainer au. literally just your cliche middle school era pokemon au. i'll probably make their teams and such anyways, but i don't have the motivation to write a whole ass pokemon au. but please consider vox machina as the rowdy group of travelers they are, but this time they're all like 15 and they have magic animals that they fight people with. chaos.

I took time to watch the second season of “Travis Willingham’s Yeehaw Game Ranch”.
Like the first one it went by extremely fast because I have no self-control when it comes to a show about two dudes just playing videos games while bickering like a married couple and puppets harassing them and being murdered live on my TV.
More under the cut, with “spoilers” (?)
Best of the insults thrown at Brian this season : "you ignorant disgusting waste of blood cells", "you disowned Olsen twin", "you cheeseless-quesadilla-looking orphan", "you look like someone put a beard of pubes on a piece of string-chesse !", "one of God's forgotten stepchildren", "discarded lump of coal", "you tall glass of warm beer", and finally : "You ain't nothin' but a cup of lukewarn decaf : I mean, sure, it's coffee, but why would you bother ?"
Brian : "Are you excited to be on Talks tonight ?" Travis, stunned, in silence, seized by fear that he forgot he was on Talks : ... Brian : "Psych !" So funny. He does it again on the second before last, and gets Travis once again.
3 times in a row, Brian went "Look at the points ! I'm clearly winning !!" and it cut to Travis being the winner. So fucking funny.
Cuphead is the game of the devil. Why would anyone want to play this ????
"Have you been outside since Reagan has been president ? Your legs are so white !"
"This potatoe means NOTHING to me. And as an Irishman, that's saying a lot !"
lots of lore on the Gameverse. so much lore. Too much lore ? Naaaaaah
"Can amphibians fart ??" "I mean... question to ask God should we meet him !"
I didn't know Gears 5 at all, but even if Travis and Brian hadn't discussed it at the beginning, I would have recognized Laura's voice. Because that's how deep I am now in CR, I am at this stage.
Travis makes the joke that Laura is gonna divorce him when she'll see how bad they are at Gears 5. They're not bad... but they do take 20 minutes to figure how to make the character run.
That is one unhappy lion and his not adorable sidekick :
Tumblr media
"I'm sweating like Sam when he gets a letter from the IRS !"
OUTLAST WAS HORRIBLE BUT GOOD BUT HORRIBLE, I jumped 4 times from my couch
Laura is "the greatest Realmwalker in all the Gameverse, the grand Titan of Ove, the Mother of all Critters, Mrs Laura give-me-the-fucking-harps Bailey !!"
There's a T-Rex with a Christmas hat !!! how can you not like this show
PvP is always fun, especially so when it's Travis and Brian who find stupid challenges to do and don't hesitate to sneak up on each other and cheat.
Love to see Marisha just destroying her own husband & Travis & Brian at Super Mario Party. Love that.
It's hilarious how Matt dislike this game, and says it outloud often, while playing it : "This is like, the worst interpetation of socialism I've ever seen."
You know you're in for the good stuff when the episode starts with a warning about gratuitous acts of puppet violence.
I did not care for Super Smash Bros Ultimate (too much noise, too much colour). However, hearing Travis scream "HAMMMMMMMEEEEEEEER !" as he joyfully smashes Matt's character is pure serotonin

for the fandom meme, drakengard/nier!
OK. time to go full ADHD
Drakengard/NieR series spoilers below:
favorite female character: Devola from NieR:Gestalt/NieR:Replicant! Firstly, I love redheads, she’s a redhead, and as much as I don’t like how they “prettified” many of the models in the remaster, she looks adorable. Secondly… I just love her personality. That spunky, carefree yet kind archetype is one I love and she is that to a T. Reading “The Red and the Black” novella, as tough as that was, really made me love her more than I already did. And she’s got a great design. Second place would probably be Manah from Drakengard 1, who is also probably my favorite character in all of the games. She is iconic.
Favorite male character? Caim. Caim Caim Caim. Also my favorite protagonist of the games. Even if in comparison to the other games’ protagonists he might not be as “deep”, he’s just… fun. Baby girl. And a monsterfucker. Don’t forget that. Plus, he got the best cutscene in all of the games in Drakengard 2. Holy shit. Secondly would be Emil, given he’s been my profile picture. Emil is the sweetest little guy and I would take him to a Dairy Queen.
Favorite Book/Season/Etc(in this case, game IG): Tie between NieR 2010 and Drakengard 1. NieR 2010 is my favorite game of all time, while Drakengard 1 is my favorite of the 5 Drakenier games EASILY. I’d give an explanation, but I’d need like five other posts to do that :P
Favorite Episode(in this case, a cutscene): THE FUCKING CUTSCENE IN DRAKENGARD 2 WHERE CAIM APPEARS OH MY FUCKING GOD. LITERALLY PEAK. IDC IF YOU ADORE DRAKENGARD 2 OR THINK ITS DOGSHIT IT IS CANONICAL IN MY HEART. THE WAY HE SUDDENLY APPEARS BEHIND THOSE KNIGHTS. THE SOUND EFFECTS WHEN HE STOMPS HIS FOOT AND OH MY GOOOOODDD THE SOUND DESIGN ON HIS SWORD??? THE FUCKING SOUND OF THAT???? HOOOOOOOOO
AND THE SHOT OF ALL THIS BLOOD GOING EVERYWHERE FROM WHEN HE KILLS THE KNIGHTS AND MANAH IS JUST STARING AT HIM…. -^]*]*\€]*\€|*]£]+\€|€]]<|£€|!|]>]€ it’s so good so good and the music they used was also amazing. Runner up is undeniably Kaine’s rant in NieR 2010. There is a fucking reason it opens Gestalt. Don’t even play the game, just watch that cutscene (in English) and you will be hit with impeccable atmosphere and voice acting.
Favorite Cast Member: Laura Bailey!! Her as Kaine floors me every time. I’ll also give props to the guy who voiced 9S because my godddd that was a startling performance. And Yoko Taro himself, for feeding my ADHD his stupid little games.
Favorite ship? As much as I don’t like Drakengard 3 nor Zero herself… Zero x Accord has won my heart. That’s probably just because Accord is very Homura coded but that’s ok. And of course, Angelus and Caim. Fuck Romeo and Juliet, I want what they have. (Dragon and Donkey coded)
A character I’d die defending? Uhhh since pretty much all of these characters are sucky people and the fandom is chill with it… I guess Lady One? Idk lol.
A character I just can’t sympathize with? Zero oh my god!!! I don’t like her. Sorry guys, I don’t like the lady who makes r*** jokes towards the men she takes after killing her sisters, no matter what “good reason” she has for doing so.
A character I grew to love? …Arioch. Fucking… Arioch. She is a horrible disgusting person… but she’s funny about it. Also Jackass from NieR:Automata, I’d go fishing with her!
My ANTI-OTP? Honestly, Kaine x Nier. No real reason why it’s just not my cup of tea lol.
Thanks for the ask!

Top 10 Skyrim Characters
I was tagged by @blossom-adventures (thank you so much! 🥰) to share my top ten Skyrim characters, so here we go:
Miraak. Not only because I'm writing a fic about him, but because I truly believe he had potential both as a character alone and concerning his bond with the LDB. Bethesda did not do him justice and his story was written hastily and with many plot holes, however, this is why there are many wonderful fics with amazing headcanons that reconstruct his past and his personality, so he doesn't seem like the ultimate black villain with absolutely no motives for his actions.
Paarthurnax. He is this old and wise grandpa we all run for advice and in contrast with Miraak, Paarthurnax was written in-depth: even though a villainous dragon, he overcame his dominant nature through effort and was redeemed.
Vilkas & Farkas. The wolves of my heart! I love how they have been written with completely different personalities despite being twins, and I wish they were my best friends (or my protective big brothers! 🤗).
Brynjolf. He has big brotherly vibes too; he is this friend who will pick a cute nickname for you (this soft-voiced "lass" is everything, I swear!). What I love the most about his character is his loyalty to the Guild and his undying faith/trust in the Dragonborn from the first time he sees them until the very end when he declares them as Guild Master.
Speaking about the Guild, I absolutely love Karliah, too. I can't get enough of this melodious voice she has, and her beautiful purple eyes. Also, she is the reason why the Dragonborn is still alive after Mercer's betrayal and attack (nursing them back to health and all), plus, I adore her tragic romance with Gallus - calling her his "little nightingale" inspired me quite a lot for another cute bird-like term of endearment in my own fic... 😇
Serana. I mean, I am emotionally attached to her. Mostly because she has a veryveryvery similar personality to my own LDB (and a rather shared traumatic experience), but truly, Laura Bailey's soothing, smooth voice is amazing; I could listen to it all day! (Also, I think I can spoil this, Serana will make a big cameo in my fic, and she will play an important role in the story... 👀).
Teldryn Sero. My favorite follower in-game, and the best elven character in Skyrim. He has lived a long life himself, and he cannot help but be constantly snarky with witty remarks that make me want to smooch him! 😘 I love that he is also a spellsword, like Jia, and together they always make the perfect duo!
Delphine (& Esbern). Yes, I like Delphine. She may not maintain the best relations with my LDB, because of this Paarthurnax issue, but she is a character I admire, and I think she and Esbern are well-written. Despite their age, they don't hesitate to fight with fearlessness, they are brave and dedicated to their oath as Blades, and they hate the Thalmor. Anyone who hates the Thalmor is a friendly character.
Jarl Balgruuf & Jarl Idgrod. Probably the most likable, honorable Jarls. I love Balgruuf's wisdom and Idgrod's ability to see visions - despite being stigmatized by it.
Ulfric Stormcloak. The truth is, that the questline about the civil war I don't usually complete it, because I don't really want to choose a side. So, I'm neither an Imperial nor a Stormcloak. But Ulfric is the epitome of a gray character - he is not bad, per se, but he is not good either, and some of his motives are unclear. I personally love complex, gray characters that I end up loving to hate; makes me try to comprehend their deeper intentions, and thus I know that their development is meticulous and well-written.
Now for the tags! I tag: @miraakulous-cloud-district @illumiera @kiir-do-faal-rahhe @prettytamagnii @b-lizi to reveal their top 10 Skyrim characters! 🥰🥰

Hi Emma! I would like to apologize first because this will be big and because I am an insane person. Remember when I sent you that ask about the Brazilian romance publishers, I decided to do a better research and share the results with you because I really want to see your books being published in Portuguese.
I decided to give a little description of the Publisher and some of their authors, that I hope you are familiarized with their work, because it might be helpful. If it's not I apologize again.
Arqueiro: They are my absolute favorite. Quite established here. I am trying not to talk a lot about them because IF I COULD PICK ONE... it would definitely be them. Authors: Ali Hazelwood, Amy Lea, Ashley Herring Blake, Jenny Colgan, Julia Quinn, Lyssa Kay Adams.
Harlequin: They have a very diversified portfolio and the "queens of romance", they are cool, they don't play too much safe, their next book will be a romance about an adult film star falling in love. Authors: Susan Wiggs, Robyn Carr, Sarah Morgan, Mia Sosa, Ava Wilder, Kate Bromley, Nora Roberts, Suzanne Enoch.
Intrínseca: Big Publisher, they published Elliot Page's biography. I like them, but I don't agree with all their paper decisions. Authors: Tessa Bailey, Lauren Forsythem Jessa Hastings, Lynn Painter, Beth O'Leary, Jenna Evans Welch, Jade Beer, Sarah Adams, Jesse Q Sutanto, Tracey Livesay.
Verus: Part of a larger editorial group, not my first choice, but a good one nonetheless. Authors: Emily Henry, Laura Kayem Clare Pooley, Nancy Springer.
Rocco: Honestly they are huge, they published Harry Potter and Anne Rice here. Not my first choice but they are getting better at selling their romances. Authors: K.L Walther, Frances Mayes, Margaret Atwood, Lucy Clarke, Sandra Brown, Hannah Grace.
Bookmarks: They are independent, but they publish such cute books, the illustrations are adorable and the covers too. CUTE CUTE CUTE. I am dying because they had a huge sale and I didn't buy some books and now I am bitching about it to anyone willing to listen. Authors: Caroline Linden, Teresa Medeiros, Samantha Chase, Noelle Adams, Elizabeth Grey.
Charme: This one is 100% feminine and they are independent too. They publish some extra 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 Authors: Penelope Ward,, Meghan Quinn, Vi Keeland.
Sorry Emma, this got huge but I really want to see your work at my favorite bookstore!!!! I hope this isn't too intrusive!!!!!

for dhavi! 💪🧠👃👂😍👙
💪:What is your OC’s most physically attractive attribute?
Its hard to pick something specific but she has a sort of ethereal/ghostly beauty to her which i think tends to endear people to her. (For certain people *cough cough* Aenor*cough cough* her most attractive feature is that she is small and breakable.)
🧠: What is your OC’s most mentally attractive attribute?
Ummm i’d say her stubborn optimism is attractive, especially because she is optimistic by choice. She knows the world can be dark and horrible, shes seen the cruelty of man and yet still chooses to believe that things will get better so long as people remain compassionate and keep moving forward. I will say though some people *cough cough* Aenor *cough cough* find it attractive particularly bc it sometimes leads her to be viewed as naive and easy to manipulate.
👃: Does your OC smell good? Do they have a signature scent?
Yea she smells good, usually smells a bit like pomegranates, blood and given the nature of her necromancy I’d say she always tends to smell like sweet dirt.
👂: Does your OC have an attractive voice?
Yea, she has a very soft and soothing voice. I am absolutely struggling to think of a specific voice claim and the closest i can get is Laura Bailey as Jester Lavorre in campaign 2 of Critical Role, but dhaveiras voice is a little softer sounding. Also fun fact, Dhaveira is really good mimicking and imitating other peoples voices !
😍: What does your OC find irresistible in others?
She adores people who are protective of their loved ones or just in general protective of things they care for. Possessiveness is often equally irresistible to her, she likes the idea that someone would do anything to protect and keep her nearby.
👙: What kind of underwear do they use? Is it pretty or functional?
I think in canon she leans towards function over fashion, but would def be kind of excited at the opportunity to try something fancier if only to see how it looks and feels. In modern au she does a bit of both and leans towards anything in red.
