i know awhile ago you got an ask about the alliances of the academy boys, so would u mind if I asked about the rivals? I mean I'm sure they all have rivalry with each other one way or another, but do any of them have specific rivals? like one of them just absolutely cannot stand another person in the harem, therefore purposely goes out of their way to sabotage that rival specifically? and I wonder if any of them did have specific rivals, if the other harem members would ever intervene? probably not, but maybe some of the more orderly and/or passive ones might try to prevent fights from breaking out
you might like: yandere! genshin academy + scaramouche
Tumblr media
whenever kaeya and diluc are together with you, you're in for a very tense situation. kaeya's chosen to isolate himself from the ragnivindirs after a fight with diluc, so the two don't get along very well. it's not that they hate each other, but diluc doesn't trust kaeya and kaeya thinks that diluc is a bore. they don't really agree on how they should treat you: kaeya believes that romance should be fun, better regret doing it than not experiencing it, while diluc believes that love is locking you away where the horrors of the world can't reach you.
alhaitham and kaveh are sort of rivals, though haitham will always have the upper hand. kaveh's paranoia shoots up whenever you're around the stoic bastard, knowing exactly what filthy thoughts he has while he looks at you and pretends that he's unfazed. haitham is content to just sit back and let kaveh panic, because what could the man probably do to him? haitham is a star student, respected by the student body and faculty, while kaveh was a former valedictorian candidate who can barely keep his life together.
neuvillette and zhongli were very tense rivals when you were a first-year. the two could barely stand being in the same room with each other without it devolving into a verbal war. if they were younger they would have probably lunged at each other's throats already. but zhongli's not a delinquent anymore, and neuvi cares too much about how he appears in front of you to dare show you that side of his. thankfully, neuvi has graduated and is currently in the main island studying in uni, so they don't see much of each other anymore.
it's scara against the world, sadly :( he doesn't care for niceties, and he'll pick a fight with just about anyone. not even ayato can handle him, especially since the raidens are in a higher position than the kamisatos. not many of the harem members like him, though the sumeru men are on (kind of) friendly terms with him. his notable rival is childe, but childe likes to fight anyone and everyone so that doesn't really count.

Drawn to You
Pairings: Various Genshin Men x Isekai'd!Reader
Summary: You are Lumine, Aether, and Paimon's new traveling companion! Your existence is unknown and the four of you have been journeying around Teyvat, searching for who you are. Unfortunately, there are no records of you existing in any regions of Teyvat. Lumine, Aether, and Paimon introduce you to many new people, who cannot help but be drawn to you.
Note: This is a different version of "how" the reader got Isekai'd into Genshin Impact. I had this idea pop up in my mind two weeks ago and I wanted to get type it out and get it posted ASAP. If you haven't read the other version yet, it's called Crash Landing in Teyvat (linked below). Only this version won't have an entire backstory of the before and aftermath of the reader being Isekai'd into Genshin like the first post. This fic is longer than last week's fic, so, buckle up! To those who are new readers or not, please remember that I don't post anywhere else but on Tumblr (Genshinluvr) and on AO3 (Aaliah_exo).
Warnings: None that I know of... does the reader getting an allergic reaction to fish count? 🤔
Word Count: 12.8k
Want to read another version of how the reader gets isekai'd into Genshin Impact? Read Crash Landing in Teyvat!
You don’t have any recollection of your memories before you were woken up by two blonde twins towering over you with their floating companion peering down at you worriedly. The only thing you remember is your name, and that’s it. At first, the twins (who later introduce themselves as Aether and Lumine) and their floating companion (she introduced herself as Paimon and in the third person) were a little suspicious of you because of your lack of memory. But the more the twins and Paimon spent time with you, the more they’re starting to trust you. Because they discovered you floating in the ocean between Liyue Harbor and Mondstadt, Aether, and Lumine made it their goal to find out who you are.
You became Aether and Lumine’s other travel companion that isn’t floating! So, their friend, pretty much. Since you didn’t possess a vision, you’re sitting on the sidelines watching Aether and Lumine destroy monsters that stand in the way of your exploration. And now here you are, laying in the middle of the field, five hundred feet from Mondstadt.
“Come on, [Y/N]! Get up! I know you’re tired, but you need to get up so we can get to Mondstadt before the sunset!” Lumine says, nudging your foot with hers.
You groan and roll over to lie on your stomach. “But Lumineeee! It’s hot outside, and I’m tired!” You exclaim, shutting your eyes and shielding your eyes from the blinding sun rays.
“Tired from what?! You didn’t fight any hilichurls or mitachurls like Lumine, and I did!” Aether huffs, plopping down on the ground before laying on top of you.
You groan and bat at Aether. “Aether, get off of me! You’re heavy!”
Lumine rolls her eyes and shakes her head, her hands propped on her hips. “Come on. I know you’re tired, but we can rest up when we make it to Mondstadt. Plus, aren’t you getting a little bit hungry? Cause I’m starting to get hungry,” said Lumine.
On cue, your stomach starts to rumble. You grumble and push Aether off you before getting up from the ground. You dust the dirt and grass off your clothes and turn to the twins. As much as you don’t want to walk, the sound of food is too enticing to give up on.
“Alright, you got me. Let’s go to Mondstadt now,” you said, smiling sheepishly at the two blondes in front of you.
“Oh, finally! Let’s go now before Good Hunter closes!” Paimon exclaims, appearing out of thin air and stomping her feet in the air with excitement.
You, Aether, Lumine, and Paimon walk to the closest waypoint (which isn’t close at all) and teleport to Mondstadt. Today will be the first time you visit Mondstadt or any city in the world since your sudden arrival in Teyvat. While you have been traveling with the twins and exploring many locations, you have never stepped foot in any area that is occupied by the people of that region.
Most of the time, when you need to eat and drink, sleep, or shower, you would go into Aether and Lumine’s shared teapot to do those tasks. After all, that’s what their teapots are for, no? It’s their floating teapot that has a house inside where they can stay and relax during their travels. When the four of you step foot into Mondstadt (technically, it was you, Aether, and Lumine that step foot in Mondstadt. Paimon’s floating), you’re in awe of the architecture of the city around you.
“Wow, Mondstadt is beautiful,” you whisper.
The aroma of food wafts into your nose, making your stomach growl even louder than it did. Your eyes widen, and you cover your stomach with both hands, your cheeks feeling hot from how loud the growl was. Aether and Lumine snicker at your growling stomach before pulling you to Good Hunter by your arms. You nearly trip over the last step on the stairs, but luckily Aether and Lumine are there to catch you. Paimon is floating in front of Good Hunter, idly chatting with Sara and pointing out what she wants on the menu. You fix your clothes and continue to survey your surroundings.
Paimon pokes you at the back of your head. You blink and turn around, looking at Paimon quizzically. Paimon points at the menu.
“Do you know what you want to eat?” Paimon asks, handing the menu over to you.
You grab the menu and flip through it, trying to find something that appeals to you. Aether and Lumine trade looks with each other, the corner of their lips curving up.
“Paimon, how can [Y/N] know what they want to eat when they haven’t looked at the menu yet?” Lumine asks, propping her hands on her hips.
Paimon scoffs. “Hey, Paimon thinks that [Y/N] knows the basic things on Good Hunter’s menu! After all, they have tried a few things from the menu before!” Paimon exclaims, stomping her feet in the air like a petulant child.
“I think I’ll have the uh….” you trail off, staring down at the words in front of you, “chicken-mushroom skewer!” you say, closing the menu and handing it back to Sara.
Paimon, Aether, and Lumine stare at you blankly. You stare back at them, unsure why they’re giving you that look after saying what you wanted to eat. You blink, look back at the menu, then at the twins and Paimon.
“Is chicken-mushroom skewer the only thing you’re going to eat? Why not have something that will fill up your stomach?” Paimon asks, crossing her arms over her chest.
Sara hands the menu to you after Lumine gestures for her to give you the menu. You blink at Paimon and look down at the menu.
“Am I not allowed to eat chicken mushroom skewer? I don’t want the two of you to pay a lot of money on food because of me,” you said.
Lumine brushes your comment to the side. “Oh, don’t worry about Mora, [Y/N]! We would rather have you eat a lot of food than force yourself to eat a little bit because of Mora. Plus, we have plenty of Mora,” Lumine says, patting your shoulder.
“Alright, but I still want to eat chicken mushroom skewers! Don’t take that off my order,” you said.
“Chicken-mushroom skewers, you say? My, don’t you have great taste,” a suave voice coming from behind you interjects.
You freeze in your spot and slowly turn around to face the person that snuck up behind you while you were occupied with the menu.
“Oh, Captain Kaeya and Master Diluc! It’s good to see you two!” Paimon exclaims, waving at the two men standing behind you.
“What are you two doing here at Good Hunter?” Lumine asks, propping her hands on her hips while she and her brother trade looks with each other.
The redhead sighs and crosses his arms over his chest. “We’re here to meet up with the Chief Alchemist and the bard for lunch. Lunch is on me, as usual,” the redhead rolls his eyes.
Aether pokes you and points at the menu. “You still haven’t picked your other option,” said Aether.
You turn to look at the menu and pucker your lips, eyes scanning the menu once more. You have tried almost everything on the menu, and yet you’re not sure what you want to eat other than the chicken mushroom skewer. You know that one skewer isn’t going to satiate your hunger, but what else are you going to order? The number of eyes you feel on you is making you nervous. You can feel the heat rush to your face the longer the eyes bore into your soul.
You laugh nervously and fumble with your hands. “I’m not sure what else to pick to eat, you guys. There’s a lot on the menu that I’ve tried already, but I don’t know what to choose,” You said, turning to look at Aether with a defeated look.
“Why not pick everything on the menu?” Paimon asks, patting your head.
You clear your throat and whisper to Paimon, “Remember how I tried doing that last time? And how I ended up puking for the next five hours.”
“Maybe you shouldn’t do that,” a soft voice interrupts.
Paimon waves at the two approaching figures. “Albedo and Tone-Deaf Bard!” Paimon exclaims.
“That’s not a nice way to introduce me to your new friend, Paimon!” The anemo vision wielder says, turning to you with a sweet smile. “I am Venti, the bard! I’m not sure if these two lads have introduced themselves to you yet, but the grumpy redhead over there goes by Master Diluc. The dark blue-haired man with the eyepatch beside Master Diluc is Captain Kaeya,” Venti says, pointing at the people he’s introducing.
“I am assuming that the man standing next to you is the Chief Alchemist named Albedo?” You ask, looking over at Albedo.
Albedo nods, not saying a word.
“We can introduce ourselves to the Travelers’ new friend over lunch,” Kaeya says, shaking his head with a faint smile.
You look at the four men with surprise. “Oh! The four of you will be joining us for lunch?” You ask, looking at Aether and Lumine for confirmation.
“That wasn’t the original plan, but I don’t mind joining the four of you for lunch,” said Diluc.
“Do you not wish for us to join?” Albedo asks, tilting his head to the side while looking at you curiously.
Your eyes widen, and you quickly shake your head. “No, no, no, no! It’s not like that! I wanted to see if Aether, Lumine, and Paimon would be okay with us having lunch together! After all, the meeting was sudden, and it’d be nice to have someone join us for lunch!” You sputter, rubbing the back of your neck nervously.
“Alright, then let us all have lunch together then. You can leave the rest of the orders up to us. When the food arrives at the table, you can choose whatever you want to eat,” Diluc says, looking over at you.
You nod and walk to the table next to the food stall, sitting between Aether and Lumine. While Diluc, Kaeya, Venti, and Albedo are ordering food to eat, you rest your chin on the wooden table and close your eyes. You suddenly feel drained. You didn’t expect to be interacting with more people other than Sara from Good Hunter. Let alone four handsome men from Mondstadt, who are also friends with your friends.
“You never introduced yourself,” Kaeya says, sitting across from you.
You open your eyes and sit up with your back pressing against the chair. “I’m [Y/N],” you introduce yourself.
Venti looks at you curiously. “Judging by your outfit, you don’t look like you’re from here,” Venti says, crossing his legs under the table.
You shake your head. “And you’re correct, Venti. I’m not from here,” you said.
Now you’re starting to get a tiny bit nervous. What are you supposed to say when they ask you where you’re from? It’s not like you can make up an excuse and tell them you’re from another region. Your clothes don’t look like it's from any of the seven nations of Teyvat.
“If you don’t mind me asking, where are you from?” Albedo asks, propping both of his arms on the table while gazing at you curiously.
You clear your throat awkwardly and look over at Aether and Lumine, who shrug their shoulders, unsure of how else to answer Albedo’s question. Paimon laughs nervously before disappearing into thin air. Aether, Lumine, and Paimon’s reaction made Diluc, Kaeya, Albedo, and Venti raise their eyebrows.
“I’m not sure where I’m from. In fact, I don’t have any memories before waking up to Aether and Lumine giving me CPR,” you reply.
Lumine nods. “We found them floating in the waters outside of Liyue and Mondstadt. They were unconscious, and we tried searching for their records throughout Teyvat, but we came to a dead end,” Lumine explains.
“That’s strange…. So are you implying that there aren’t any records of their existence in Teyvat?” Diluc asks, raising his eyebrows at you, Aether, and Lumine.
Aether nods and looks over at you anxiously. “There aren’t any records of an [Y/N]’s in any regions of Teyat,” Aether breathes.
“Are you sure [Y/N]’s not lying about their name? What if they changed it, or they lied about their name?” Kaeya questions.
Aether points at Kaeya. “That’s the thing. Lumine and I assumed that at first, but there are no missing person cases in any region. Even if there were a missing person case in Teyvat, none of those people look like [Y/N] in the missing person posters,” Aether explains.
“Could they be another outlander?” Albedo asks.
You stare at the men blankly. “Possibly! But I don’t have any memory of what happened before waking up on the seashore. It’s frustrating not knowing much about myself other than my name,” you mutter, hunching forward and resting your forehead on the wooden table. “Do you know how much of a struggle it is for me to wake up every day not knowing who I am?”
“Oh, cheer up, [Y/N]! I’m sure all of your memories will come back to you soon!” Paimon says, hugging the back of your head while rubbing the top of your head with her left hand.
“Yeah! I’m sure you’ll get your memories back! It takes some time for you to recover your memories,” Venti says.
Venti gets up from his seat and walks to where you’re sitting. He leans down and engulfs you in his arms, rubbing your back. You let yourself melt in Venti’s comforting hug, resting your head on his shoulders, close to his neck, and closing your eyes. The sound of someone clearing their throat pulls you out of your thoughts. You open your eyes and pull from Venti’s hug, rubbing the back of your neck with a sheepish smile on your face.
About ten minutes later, the food arrives, and you all begin eating while conversing with each other. You ate your chicken mushroom skewer, still undecided about what you wanted to eat other than the food you ordered. Whichever food Kaeya, Diluc, Aether, Venti, and Albedo recommend for you to try, you would take one small piece of the food and try it out. Since you have tried the food these men have suggested, you end up sticking to the chicken mushroom skewers.
“Thank you all for the suggestions, but I’ll stick to what I have ordered. Plus, there were a lot of recommendations, and I don’t know what I want to eat,” you said.
Technically you were lying because you didn’t want to hurt any of their feelings if you were to choose one person’s recommendation over the other. Not only that, if you ate what every person had recommended, you would end up overeating and give yourself indigestion. Which has happened before, and you don’t want it to happen again.
“It’s nice meeting all four of you! I hope to see you all again in the future!” You said, smiling at the four men in front of you while preparing your leave for the next region.
You stretch your arms in the air and yawn, covering your mouth and rubbing the tears that formed in your eyes. To you, you probably look like an exhausted mess, but to the four men in front of you (counting Aether, so five), you look cute. There’s something about you that draws you to them, and they can’t put their fingers on it.
“Oh no, are you getting sleepy?” Lumine teases, poking you lightly in the stomach.
You squawked and batted Lumine’s hands away from your stomach with a flustered look on your face. The men stifled their laugh and quickly looked away when you heard someone snort. You blink at them and look over at Lumine.
You rub your eyes and sigh. “I always get sleepy after I’m done eating, but since I didn’t eat as much as I did last time, I’m not entirely sure why I’m sleepy,” you mutter.
“You can’t be sleepy now! We’re heading off to Liyue soon! Don’t you want to watch the opera in Liyue Harbor or listen to the Storyteller?” Paimon asks, lightly tugging on your hair.
“I do! But at least let me take a nap first!” You grumble, leaning on the closest person and closing your eyes.
Lumine gives Kaeya an apologetic smile before pulling you off him. “We should be heading off to Liyue Harbor now. It’s a good thing you bought a souvenir earlier before lunch,” Lumine says, patting your cheeks to make sure you’re awake.
Before Lumine and Aether pull you away from the group, you turn to them and give them a sleepy smile, and wave goodbye to them.
“Thank you for joining us for lunch! It was nice meeting all of you! I hope to see you all again soon!” You said, stumbling after Aether and Lumine.
Diluc, Kaeya, Albedo, and Venti watch you and the twins walk out of the city. While they kind of got to know you within almost two hours, they want to continue to get to know who you are and help you recover your memories if it was possible. After seeing you leave, the four men couldn’t help but feel empty. Maybe someday, fate will bring you back to them. And by fate, they meant the two blonde twins and Paimon.
At Liyue Harbor, you’re leaning against the wooden railing of the Harbor, taking in a deep breath with your eyes closed. When you, Aether, Lumine, and Paimon step foot into Liyue Harbor, they’re almost immediately whisked away by Ying’er for a short commission. While Aether and Lumine are hesitant to leave you alone in Liyue Harbor, Paimon volunteers to be your babysitter while the two are out helping Ying’er with her commission.
“I’m bored! Let’s go get something to eat while we wait for Aether and Lumine to return from their commission with Ying’er!” Paimon says, floating beside you.
You look over at Paimon with wide eyes. “We ate not too long ago! How are you hungry right now?!” You squeak.
“Paimon is always hungry, [Y/N]! Plus, we can always listen to the Storyteller while we eat!” Paimon says, grabbing onto your shirt's sleeve and tugging it. “Now, come on! We can’t be late!” Paimon exclaims.
You hold Paimon’s hand and shake your head. “Paimon, I think you forgot that we don’t have any Mora on us,” you frown.
“So? We don’t have to eat! We can just sit at an empty table and listen to the Storyteller!” Paimon gives you a pleading look.
You hesitate. “I don’t know, Paimon. What if Aether and Lumine finish Ying’er’s commission early and search for us?” You ask.
Paimon lets out an exasperated sigh. “Ying’er’s shop is close to where the Storyteller is! Don’t be a worry wart, [Y/N]!”
“Alright, Paimon. But we’re not eating anything because we ate less than an hour ago, and we don’t have any Mora on us.” You let out a sigh of defeat.
“Deal!” Paimon nods happily.
You let Paimon drag you to Third-Round Knockout in Liyue Harbor while trying to dodge the civilians without bumping into them. When you and Paimon arrive at Third-Round Knockout, you notice that all of the tables are taken and that there’s nowhere for you and Paimon to sit. Well, mainly you since Paimon floats in the air most of the time.
“Aw! There’s nowhere to sit!” Paimon exclaims, looking around with disappointment.
You smile at Paimon and pat her head. “It’s okay, Paimon! We can stand to the side and listen to the Storyteller,” you suggest.
Paimon shakes her head stubbornly. “No way! It’s unfair if we stand to the side and listen to the Storyteller because you have nowhere to sit, and your feet are going to hurt from standing for a long time!” Paimon says.
“I don’t think we’ll be listening to the Storyteller for that long, Paimon,” You say. “Again, it’s okay if we stand to the side and listen to the Storyteller! Maybe we can grab a table when someone leaves.”
Paimon scans the table at Third-Round Knockout when she sees familiar faces sitting at a table close to the stairs. Paimon perks up and waves her hand in the air to grab the table’s attention.
“Zhongli and Childe!” Paimon grabs onto the sleeves of your shirt and pulls you in their direction.
Zhongli and Childe look up from their meals and sees you and Paimon making your way to their table. You can’t help but feel like a child being dragged around by their parent while going out grocery shopping. The way Paimon pulls you over to these Zhongli and Childe people reminds you of when a mother sees an old friend and ends up having a long conversation with them while the child stands to the side for over five minutes while the adults interact.
“Oh, Paimon! It’s good to see you again! Where are Aether and Lumine?” Childe asks, resting his chin in the palm of his hand.
Paimon sighs. “Aether and Lumine are helping Ying’er with her commission right now. I am tasked to babysit [Y/N] here since it is their first time visiting Liyue!” Paimon pats your head.
“Why did you have to put it that way? Why can’t it be two friends hanging out?” You mutter to Paimon while avoiding two pairs of curious eyes.
“Paimon, care to introduce your and the two Travelers’ new friend?” Zhongli speaks up, taking a sip of his tea without taking his eyes off you.
“This is [Y/N]! Aether, Lumine, and I fished [Y/N] out of the ocean,” Paimon pats your head with a smile on her face.
Childe raises his eyebrow at Paimon’s comment. “Fished [Y/N] out of the water? What, are they a mermaid?” Childe asks sarcastically.
“I wish! But unfortunately, I’m an amnesiac,” you reply humorlessly. “Anyway! It’s nice to meet you two! Aether and Lumine have mentioned you two a couple of times to me before. I didn’t expect to run into you two so soon,” you said.
Zhongli sets his chopsticks down on the ceramic plate. “Care to clarify what you mean when you said that you’re an amnesiac?”
You turn to look at Paimon. “Should I?”
Paimon shrugs her shoulders. “That’s up to you!” Replies Paimon.
You and Paimon sit across Zhongli and Childe, explaining your situation and how you end up being Aether, Lumine, and Paimon’s traveling partner. When you mentioned going from region to region to search for your identity and to see if you might be a missing person from the region, it piqued Childe and Zhongli’s curiosity.
“I never popped up in any system. Mondstadt, Sumeru, Inazuma, Liyue, Snezhnaya, Natlan, and Fontaine. None. My name is [Y/N], and I am sure that I did not change my name, and without a doubt, I am certain that [Y/N] is my name,” you said, rubbing the napkin between your thumb and index finger.
“Strange, huh?” Paimon asks, looking over at the two men sitting across from you and Paimon. “[Y/N], you should try this food! It’s delicious!” Paimon changes the subject, pushing the plate of fish in your direction.
You give Paimon a look. “Paimon, this is their food. I’m not going to eat another person’s food, plus I’m still full from earlier,” you said, rubbing your stomach.
“It’s alright. You two can have some of our food. I think we ordered too much anyway,” Childe says, letting his chopsticks clatter on the plate.
You sigh and grab an unused chopstick, breaking off a piece of fish before taking a bite out of it. You chew and swallow the fish, placing the chopstick on the plate. Paimon looks at you with anticipation.
“So? What do you think?” Paimon asks excitedly.
You lick your lips and look around you, smacking your lips lightly. “You know how I have no memory of who I am?” You suddenly ask.
Paimon, Childe, and Zhongli look at you quizzically. “Uh, yes?” Paimon replies in an unsure tone.
“I don’t think I was a fan of seafood or fish, to be more specific,” you said, scrunching your face and rubbing your neck with your right hand.
“What?! What kind of person isn’t a fan of seafood or fish!?” Paimon exclaims.
After hearing Paimon’s exclamation, Childe slowly turns to look at the Liyuen man next to him. Zhongli ignores the look Childe is giving him and quietly takes a sip of his tea. Your mouth is starting to tingle and feel weird, making you furrow your eyebrows and silently smack your lips, deep in your thoughts.
“People who have eaten too many fish and seafood, apparently,” you reply, attempting to ignore the strange sensation in your mouth.
The inside of your throat begins to itch, making you shift around in your seat and clear your throat softly. Ever since you arrived in Teyvat, you have never had such a reaction after eating something. Could you be allergic to the dish?
You cough and rub your throat, eyebrows knitting together with discomfort. Zhongli looks up from his teacup and looks at you worriedly.
Paimon taps your shoulders. “Are you okay, [Y/N]? You’re coughing a lot, and it’s starting to make Paimon worried,” Paimon says.
You give Paimon a weak smile and swallow the saliva, almost visibly wincing when you feel the walls in your throat rub against each other uncomfortably. “My throat is feeling dry and a bit itchy,” you said.
“Do you, perhaps, want some tea to quench your dry throat?” Zhongli asks.
You look at Zhongli and nod your head eagerly. “Ah, a drink! Yes, please, that would be nice.” You croak.
You clear your throat again while Zhongli calls the waiter over to order you some tea to quench your dry throat. While the waiter went to fetch you something to drink, you continued to rub your neck with your hand, occasionally swallowing to feel the strange sensation in your throat. You look down at the fish and grab your chopsticks, poking it lightly and dissecting it apart to see what is inside of the food. The fish tastes decent; you’re only saying that because you’re not a massive fan of anything seafood or any food with fish.
When the waiter comes back with your teacup, you give him a thankful smile before lifting the cup to your lips and blowing on it to cool the tea down and take a sip of it. When you drink the tea, you can’t help but wince at the feeling when it goes down your throat. You scratch your neck and cough lightly into your elbow. When you pull your arm away from your face, you notice small bumps forming on your arms.
“Oh no,” you squeak, looking around nervously. “Hey, uh, does anyone know where I can go to the nearest doctor? Or some physician?” You ask, tapping your fingers on the table anxiously.
“Why? Is something wrong?” Paimon asks.
You continue to scratch your neck; you fear that the more your neck itches, the more you will tear your neck up with your nails. “I just found out that I’m allergic to fish,” you sigh.
The sound of chopsticks clattering loudly on the fine china; Childe and Zhongli look at you worriedly, getting up from their seats.
“How allergic are you?” Childe asks, walking over to you.
You shrug your shoulders. “I don’t know how severely allergic I am, but my mouth feels tingly, my throat is itching, and there are bumps forming on my arms,” You ramble, trying to soothe the irritations.
“Get [Y/N] to Bubu Pharmacy immediately,” Zhongli orders.
Childe lifts you up, carries you bridal style, and sprints to the nearest waypoint, with Zhongli and Paimon following close behind. When teleported to the waypoint that is closest to Bubu Pharmacy, Childe rushes up the stairs toward the building. You feel your throat beginning to close up, making it hard for you to breathe. Childe bursts through the entrance, startling the receptionist and other customers.
A green-haired man with a snake around his neck walks out of the back room, looking at Childe, Zhongli, Paimon, and you with confusion. When his eyes lands on you, he looks horrified. You don’t know what you look like, and quite frankly, you don’t want to see what you look like.
“Qiqi, please treat to the Yaksha while I treat the new visitors,” The green-haired man instructs. The little girl nods and walks over to the Yaksha off to the side. The green-haired man rushes over to you and checks up on you and the bumps forming on your arms.
“They’re having a severe allergic reaction. Did they happen to eat something they’re allergic to?” The green-haired physician asks, walking behind the counter and scrambling to find medicine to treat your allergic reaction.
Paimon laughs nervously. “They ate fish, but that was it! Doctor Baizhu, we didn’t know they’re allergic to fish, and neither did they!” Paimon exclaims.
Baizhu walks over to you and jabs your thigh with a long syringe, injecting you with the medicine to treat your allergic reaction. You feel yourself go limp in Childe’s arms, exhaustion coming over you. The swelling in your throat gradually goes away, finally letting you breathe.
Baizhu retracts the syringe from your thighs and tosses it into the trash bin. “You’re lucky to get them here just in time before it gets worse,” Baizhu sighs, looking over at you worriedly.
“Yeah, very lucky,” you mutter, your head resting against Childe’s chest, gazing at the green-haired physician with bleary eyes. “I didn’t even know that I was allergic to fish until moments ago,” you said.
“Humans are fragile,” Someone interjects.
You peek your head from Childe’s shoulder, only to see a shorter male stand beside Zhongli with his arms over his chest. You notice a bandage wrapped around his arms and torso, his eyebrows slightly furrowing. You couldn’t tell if he was glaring at you or if it was because he was in pain. Either way, he did not look too happy.
Baizhu looks over at Xiao with a surprised look on his face. “Oh, Xiao! You have recovered quicker than I thought,” Baizhu says thoughtfully.
Xiao grunts in response and nods. “It’s all thanks to your medicine and Qiqi’s help,” Xiao says, looking over at the small girl behind the counter.
Childe sits you down on a seat in the corner of the pharmacy. You rest your head against the wall, your eyelids feeling heavy. You’re not sure whether your sudden tiredness was from the medicine that was injected into you to treat your allergic reaction, or if it was because you had a long day and if it’s finally taking a toll on you.
You’re about to doze off when you feel someone nudge your leg with their foot. You open your eyes and see Xiao standing in front of you.
“Are you okay?” He asks.
You stare at him and nod your head slowly. “Yeah, I’m feeling better than I did before arriving at Bubu Pharmacy,” you reply, clearing your throat. You’re relieved that the itchiness in your throat and the swelling went away. The bumps, on the other hand, the bumps are still there, but they’re slowly fading.
“That’s good to hear. Paimon, Zhongli, that Harbinger, and Doctor Baizhu looked really worried when you first arrived at the pharmacy,” said Xiao. “After seeing the condition you were in, I can see why they were terrified.”
You smile at Xiao and rub the area where Baizhu had jabbed the syringe into your thigh. “I’m glad they cared enough to help me with my allergic reaction. I didn’t know I was allergic to fish until today, and now, I will be avoiding food with fish in it,” you said.
Before Xiao could say anything else, the door of Bubu Pharmacy flew open, and Lumine and Aether ran through the door, looking around frantically. When their eyes land on you, Aether runs and tackles you into a hug, nearly tipping your seat back and sending the both of you to the ground if it weren’t for the wall behind the chair. Lumine laughs nervously when people look over at your small group weirdly. Lumine shuffles over to where you and Aether are, yanks Aether off you, and gives him a look as if she’s telling him to behave.
“Where were you guys?! We thought you and Paimon would still be at the docks where we left you two before doing Ying’er’s commission!” Lumine exclaims, crossing her arms over her chest while glaring at you and Paimon.
“Where were we?! Where were you two!? We couldn’t stand and wait in the hot sun for a few hours while you two were running around with Ying’er! Plus, Paimon wanted to hear the Storyteller’s stories!” Paimon exclaims, huffing loudly.
“She also wanted to get something to eat while we waited,” you interject, getting up from your seat. “I also found out that I am allergic to fish. I think it’s severe,” you add.
“You think it’s severe? Your throat closed up, and you had hives!” Paimon exclaims.
You blink at Paimon. “But I’m okay now, right?”
Everyone can see the steam starting to come out of Paimon’s ears. “You’re okay now because of Zhongli, Childe, and Doctor Baizhu! If it weren’t for them, you would’ve died!” Paimon screeches, shaking you by your shoulders.
“Hey! I almost died, and this is how you treat me!? You’re so mean!” You whine.
You pull Paimon’s hands from your shoulders before hiding behind Zhongli; he looks strong and intimidating. You point at Paimon.
“Tell her to stop, Zhongli! Paimon is being mean to me despite me almost dying from my allergies.” You peek from behind Zhongli and narrow your eyes at Paimon, who glares back at you.
Lumine sighs and rubs her temples. “We don’t have time for you two to bicker right now. We have to leave for Inazuma very soon,” said Lumine.
You walk out from behind Zhongli and stare at Lumine quizzically. “We’re going to Inazuma already? But we arrived in Liyue not too long ago!” You exclaim.
“Yeah! Plus, you two have been out with Ying’er all day! We might as well eat something in Liyue before we leave for Inazuma!” Paimon says.
“Again?” Your eyes widen, and your eyebrows fly to your hairline. “Okay, listen, if we’re going to eat again, please don’t order anything that has fish in it,” you plead, clasping your hands together.
And now here you are, sitting at Xinyue Kiosk, sitting between Zhongli and Childe while Aether, Lumine, Paimon, Xiao, and Doctor Baizhu are sitting across from the three of you. The food that is brought out and placed in front of the eight of you, you nearly cried. The majority of the food has fish in it. One food, in particular, has caught your attention. You’re about to reach for the fullmoon egg when you see Zhongli shake his head from the corner of your eyes.
“The fullmoon egg has fish in it,” Zhongli says.
You point over at the golden shrimp balls. “Can I eat these? Or is it going to make me go into another allergic reaction?” You ask.
“As long as you don’t have shellfish allergies, then you should be fine,” said Baizhu.
You stare at Baizhu for a moment before shrugging your shoulders. “You only live once,” you said, grabbing a golden shrimp ball and taking a bite out of it. The golden shrimp ball is delicious; luckily, you didn’t have any allergic reaction to the shrimp balls. It’s a good thing you’re not allergic to shellfish because the golden crab got your attention. You reached across the table and took a piece of the golden crab, and put it on your plate before grabbing the small bowl of rice and pouring a small amount of soy sauce on the rice. As much as you would love to try the other dishes in the center of the table, most of them contain fish, and you weren’t that hungry.
You’re still full from lunch earlier in Mondstadt. You eat your food in silence while people around you converse with each other. You subconsciously rub your throat and look at your hands, checking to see if the hives have gone away. To your relief, the bumps are gone, and your neck feels fine. There’s no itchiness and swelling, thank archons.
“Then we’ll be leaving for Inazuma after,” you hear Lumine say.
You look up at Lumine and blink at her. “So, your plan is that we travel to other nations within one day?”  You ask, raising your eyebrows at her.
Lumine nods her head slowly. “Yes, and you did say that you wanted to meet our,” she gestures between herself and Aether, “friends in the nations we have traveled to! So it’ll be nice to finish it in one day and continue our mission.”
“Huh, I forgot that I wanted to do that,” you mutter, pinching the fat of your chin with your lips puckered. “I don’t mind going to Inazuma after eating, but I think we should rest for a bit before going to Inazuma.”
“If you’re getting sleepy, you can always lay your head on my shoulders and take a nap,” Childe suggests, turning to look at you.
You look at Childe, surprised. “Um, are you sure? Plus, I don’t think it's appropriate for me to take a nap at a nice restaurant like this,” you said, laying your hands fall in your lap. “Actually, I think I’m going to get some fresh air! Hopefully, that’ll wake me up a little bit,” you said.
You give everyone a smile and excuse yourself. You leave Xinyue Kisok and sit on the ground, leaning your head against the wall and closing your eyes. When you left Xinyue Kiosk, you noticed that the sun was beginning to set and there weren’t many people around.
You hear the restaurant’s door open and someone hesitantly walking towards you by the way they stop halfway. You crack your eyes open and see Xiao standing in front of you, looking at his and your surroundings. You rub your eyes and slowly stand up.
“Xiao? What are you doing out here? Shouldn’t you be inside with the rest of them?” You ask, rubbing your arms.
Xiao looks at you. “I can say the same for you,” he replies.
“I’m getting some fresh air. I’m hoping it’ll wake me up, but the cool night air is making me even sleepier than I thought,” you sigh.
Without saying another word, Xiao sits down beside you and makes you lay your head on his shoulders. You scoot closer to Xiao and rest your head in the crook of his neck, your arms brushing against his. You feel yourself slowly beginning to doze off to sleep, but you’re awoken by the cool breeze. You shiver and open your eyes, rubbing them with your knuckles.
“I don’t think I’ll be able to nap out here when it’s cold,” you mutter. You continue to rest your head on Xiao’s shoulders. “Thank you for keeping me company, even though you didn’t need to do it,” you murmur.
Xiao grunts in response, the tips of his ears light pink along with the apples of his cheeks. You lift your head, and Xiao stands up, holding his hand out for you to take. You grab Xiao’s hand, and he helps you up from the ground. The two of you walk back into Xinyue Kisok, only to see everyone standing from their seats.
“Oh, is everyone done eating?” You ask, walking over to the table with Xiao walking beside you.
Baizhu looks at you and examines you from head to toe. “How are you feeling?” Baizhu asks.
You rub your leg and give him a thumbs up. “I’m feeling good! The area where you jabbed my leg with the syringe isn’t hurting anymore,” you said.
“Are you ready to go to Inazuma?” Aether asks, walking up to you with Lumine trailing behind him.
You nod your head. “Yeah, I’m ready to go! But, uh, where are we going to be staying when it's time for bed?” You ask.
Lumine chuckles and ruffles your hair. “Did you forget that we have a house to stay in the teapot?” Lumine asks, raising her eyebrows at you.
“Oh! Right, yeah, I forgot about the teapot,” you laugh sheepishly. “Sorry, I’m a little bit out of it,” you clear your throat.
“Hey, it’s okay! You had a bit of a rough start in Liyue. Hopefully, it’ll get better in Inazuma!” Paimon says, giving your head a comforting head pat.
“I hope so too,” you sulk.
Zhongli ends up offering to walk you, Aether, Lumine, and Paimon to the nearest waypoint so you four can go to your next destination. Childe, Xiao, and Baizhu decide to tag along; they say something about wanting to keep the funeral consultant company. Before walking to the waypoint, you stop in your tracks.
“Ah, crap. Is it too late for me to buy a souvenir before we leave Liyue?” You ask, searching for a shop nearby.
Paimon snorts. “With what Mora?” Paimon asks.
You look at Paimon with your mouth agape. “You didn’t need to call me out like that, Paimon.” You huff, crossing your arms over your chest. “And for your information, I do have Mora on me!” You said, pulling out a bag of Mora from your pockets with a proud smirk on your face.
You end up stopping by the closest jewelry shop in Liyue, buying a Liyuen hair stick with cor lapis, glaze lilies, and glaze lily petals decorating the gold hair stick.
“It looks pretty! You should wear it now!” Lumine says.
You stare at her blankly and scratch your head. “Can someone help me put it on? I’m afraid I might mess it up and not wear it correctly,” holding out the hair sticks.
Baizhu walks over to you and begins to style your hair, combing his fingers through your hair and putting one part of your hair into a bun and the other remaining down. After getting your hair to be the way he wanted it to be, Baizhu grabs the hair sticks from your hands and sticks them through your hair, letting the glaze lily petals dangle.
You turn to Baizhu and give him a smile. “Thank you for helping me, Baizhu!”
Baizhu clears his throat and gives you a smile in return, his cheeks turning bright pink when you smile at him. You run over to Lumine, Aether, and Paimon to show your new hairstyle with the hair sticks in your hair. Lumine twirls you around and compliments your hair. Aether stares at you with stars in his eyes, unable to take his eyes away from you. Paimon was the first one to notice and slowly turned to look at the four guests. They were also looking at you that way, unaware that they were staring at you with the same expression Aether had on his face.
“I think we should get going now. Wouldn’t want to arrive in Inazuma when everyone is asleep,” Paimon says, grabbing everyone’s attention.
“Oh! Right! Let's go!” Lumine says, pulling you to the waypoint with the others following behind.
When you, Aether, Lumine, and Paimon arrive at the waypoint, the four of you stand around the waypoint. You wave at Xiao, Zhongli, Childe, and Baizhu goodbye before placing your hand on the waypoint. They wave back at you, watching the four of you disappear in front of their eyes. They hope to see you again; there’s something about you that draws them to you, and they can’t put their fingers on it.
When you all step into Inazuma, the sun has already set, and night has fallen. You turn to look at the twins and Paimon.
“It’s nightfall. Do you think everyone is awake at a time like this?” You ask.
Aether shrugs his shoulders. “Who knows! Some are awake, and others might be asleep around this time, but it’s still early in the night,” says Aether.
“I think you meant to say that the night is still young,” Paimon says.
The four of you walk into Inazuma City, searching around for the first person that came into Aether and Lumine’s head. The smell of Inazuman food lingers in the air, making your mouth water. The sound of children laughing, people conversing, and food sizzling fills the night in Inazuma City.
“Oh, look! It’s Heizou and Itto!” Paimon says, pointing over at where Itto and Heizou are standing.
You turn to look in the direction where Paimon is pointing. You see a magenta-haired male standing beside a tall, horned white-haired man with red streaks in his hair. Approaching the two men are a platinum blond-haired man with a single orange streak in his hair and a light orange-brown-haired man with dog ears.
“And there’s Gorou and Kazuha!” Lumine crosses her arms over her chest. “I wonder if the other two are going to join after Gorou and Kazuha,” Lumine murmurs, stroking her chin.
You look at Lumine quizzically. “Other two?” You ask.
“She’s talking about Kamisato Ayato and Thoma,” replies Aether.
“Let’s go say hi to the four of them!” Paimon says, ushering you, Lumine, and Aether over to the four men.
As you’re approaching the four men, the oni spots you four. Itto’s eyes light up, and he waves in your direction with a big smile.
“Aether! Lumine! Floating lavender melon! It’s good to see you guys again!” Itto says, walking toward you, Paimon, Aether, and Lumine.
You stifle your laughter. “Floating lavender melon? Care to explain how you got that nickname, Paimon?” You ask, turning to look at the floating girl with a teasing smile.
“Oh? And who are you?” Heizou asks, gazing at you with interest. “A new face around the city? If I've seen one, I would recognize a pretty face, but this is the first time I see you.” Heizou smiles at you.
“Are you the Travelers’ new friend?” Kazuha asks, his head tilting to the side.
You smile at them shyly and nod your head. “Yes, I am Aether, Lumine, and Paimon’s new friend! I guess you can also say traveling companion since I have been traveling around Teyvat with the three of them not too long now,” you said.
“Gorou, Itto, Heizou, Kazuha, meet [Y/N]! [Y/N], meet Itto, Gorou, Kazuha, and Heizou!” Paimon introduces you to the four men in front of you, pointing at each person as she says their name.
“Lord Ayato and Thoma will be arriving shortly,” Gorou interjects.
You look at them curiously. “Oh! Are you all gathering for dinner?” You ask.
Itto shakes his head. “Nope! We are all meeting for tea and some beetle fight!” Itto says, propping his hands on his hip and striking a pose.
You blink at Itto owlishly. “What is a beetle fight?” You ask.
“Huh!? You’ve never heard of a beetle fight?!” Itto asks in disbelief, his eyes wide with genuine shock.
You shake your head, looking at Itto confused. “Is it part of Inazuma’s culture?”
“It’s not. It’s a game that Itto came up with and challenged many people to it,” Gorou replies. “That is why he has invited Lord Ayato to the Komore Teahouse. To have some tea and to challenge the Kamisato Heir to another round of the beetle fight.” Gorou adds.
“He lost the previous rounds to Lord Ayato, didn’t he?” You whisper.
“That is correct, and he has not stopped pestering me about it ever since,” a voice speaks up behind you and Gorou, startling the both of you.
You and Gorou turn around to see a tall, elegantly dressed, light-blue-haired man and a tall, blond man standing at his side. You clutch onto your chest and clear your throat, feeling your face heat up when both men look at you curiously.
“H-Hi! I presume that you’re Lord Ayato,” you point at the light-blue-haired man, “and you’re Thoma,” you said, pointing at the blond man standing beside Lord Ayato.
“You’re correct! It’s nice to meet you, [Y/N]! Aether and Lumine had mentioned you a few times when they were visiting the Kamisato Estate when running errands,” says Thoma, smiling at you.
“Now that everyone is here, I think we should go to Komore Teahouse now,” says Heizou, gesturing for everyone to follow him.
When you all arrive at Komore Teahouse, you’re all greeted by a dog that goes by the name of Taroumaru. You refrained from letting out the biggest squeal after seeing the absolute cutie before casually making your way over to the dog and petting it.
“You all can go beetle fighting. I’m going to hang out with my new friend,” you said, stroking Taroumaro’s ears happily. “So cute,” you coo.
“We don’t want to leave you out, [Y/N]. Care to join us and watch the battle between Itto and Lord Ayato?” Kazuha asks, holding his hand out for you to take.
Not wanting to seem rude, you take Kazuha’s offer and grab his hand, letting him guide you to the tea room where everyone is waiting. There on the table sits two large purple onikabutos. When you say that they’re huge, they are huge!
You back up and point at the onikabutos, eyes wide. “They’re huge,” you point out the obvious.
“Yeah! It’s a shame I couldn’t find any bigger ones, though,” Itto says, hunching over with a small pout on his face.
You look at Itto in horror. “Are you saying there are onikabutos that are the size of Paimon?” You point over at Paimon.
“Believe it or not, yeah! There are onikabutos that can grow up to the size of Paimon, maybe bigger than Paimon,” Thoma says, nodding his head.
You point over to the corner. “I’m just going to stand from a safe distance to watch the beetle fight between Itto and Lord Ayato,” you said, walking to the farthest part of the room.
There’s no way in hell you’re going to stand that close to onikabutos that are almost half your size. No way, no thank you! In fact, you don’t mind booking it to Sumeru immediately if you can! But seeing Aether, Lumine, and Paimon happily munch on Dangos while betting on who’s going to win the beetle fight, you decide to keep to yourself. Lord Ayato laughs to himself and sits behind his onikabuto while Itto sits across from him, hyping up his onikabuto.
“Who do you think is going to win, [Y/N]?” Heizou asks, looking over his shoulders and in your direction.
You blink at Heizou and look at Itto and Lord Ayato. “I’m going to be optimistic and say Itto! Lord Ayato may have won the previous rounds of the beetle fight; I have a feeling Itto might win this one!” You said.
“Let’s hope you’re right because if Itto loses, we won’t hear the end of it,” Gorou says, his ears flattening on his head. “Itto won’t stop until he wins.”
Itto and Lord Ayato start to shout incoherent words at each other and their onikabutos, startling you. You find it amusing that someone as refined as Lord Ayato would be playing beetle fight with the one and oni, Arataki Itto. You hide your smile behind your hands and watch the two beetles try to flip the other one over.
“beetle fight is quite intense, especially if you’re as competitive as Itto,” Kazuha says, leaning against the wall beside you. “Would you ever play beetle fight?” Kazuha asks suddenly, looking at you from the corner of his eyes.
“Oh, uh, I don’t think so. I would rather be the cheerleader than the one initiating the fight,” you laugh sheepishly.
Itto hollers from across the room, “Oh, come on, [Y/N]! You should totally try it out! I’ll be your coach and teach you everything you need to know about the art of beetle fights!”
Lord Ayato snorts. “I’m sure [Y/N] would want someone skilled to be their coach. I have won many beetle fights against you, Itto. Surely I’m the better candidate,” Lord Ayato says nonchalantly, smiling at Itto.
“Let’s not trash talk right now, Lord Ayato. I think you’re going to set Itto off,” Thoma laughs nervously, patting the Kamisato Heir’s shoulders. “But if [Y/N] does want to get into beetle fighting, I’m sure having both of you as their coach would help them a lot! Right, [Y/N]?” Thoma asks, turning to look at you with a nervous smile.
You nod after catching onto what Thoma is trying to imply. “Ah! Yes! That’s right! Why have one coach when you can have two? I’ll learn more knowledge from two different people!”
Lord Ayato sighs and leans back. “Alright, if two coaches are what you want, then two coaches is what you’ll get,” said Lord Ayato.
Your conversation is cut short when you hear Aether and Lumine cheer and gasp loudly. You look at the table and see Lord Ayato’s onikabuto flipped on its back, wiggling and squirming around while Itto’s onikabuto is victorious.
“The winner of this beetle fight is Itto’s onikabuto!” Paimon announces.
Kazuha chuckles. “My, my, it seems like you have predicted Itto’s victory, [Y/N],” Kazuha says, looking at you with a soft smile.
You feel yourself blush, and you awkwardly look at the table. Itto got up from his seat and ran in your direction before tackling you into a bone-crushing hug. You let out a loud yelp when Itto hugs you tightly, your back audibly cracking. Itto freezes and looks down at you with wide eyes, slowly putting you back on the ground.
“Was that the sound of [Y/N]’s back cracking?” Thoma asks, looking at the others in horror.
Lord Ayato sighs and looks at you worriedly. “It seems like Itto has underestimated his strengths,” Lord Ayato mutters. Lord Ayato walks to you and places a gentle hand on your shoulder. “Are you alright, [Y/N]? Perhaps you need to see a doctor?” asks Lord Ayato.
You laugh and shake your head, patting Itto and Lord Ayato’s hands. “No need to worry about me! I needed my back to be cracked. It’s been a rough few days, and it’s nice to have my back popped,” you said, rubbing your shoulder.
Heizou sighs, feigning sadness. “Looks like I won’t be taking you into custody this time, Itto. Shinobu won’t have to worry about getting a notice from the Tenryou Commission about Itto’s detainment,” Heizou crosses his arms over his chest.
“Taking him into custody this time? Itto’s been in prison before?” You ask, looking at Itto with your eyebrows raised.
Itto laughs and rubs the back of his neck, trying to find an excuse. You snort and shake your head, patting Itto’s back. As much as you want to question him about his…. Criminal history, you think it’s best to save it for next time. But for now, you have some Inazuman tea and snacks to try out! Even though you ate not too long ago in Liyue. You’re starting to think that this whole “meeting up with a friend’s friend” is actually a way to get you to test your limits on how much you can eat. While you don’t mind trying various cultural dishes, you’re praying that your stomach won’t be negatively affected when you eat more than you can chew.
After having tea, snacks, and conversing with the Inazuman men, you find yourself standing at the waypoint with Lumine, Aether, and Paimon. The night is still young, and you’re all about to go to Sumeru. All the walking and teleporting to different regions were starting to wear you out, and you could feel it. Right when you’re about to touch the waypoint with the twins and Paimon, Heizou calls out to you. You turn in Heizou’s direction and see him running up to you, holding something out to you.
“Ah! How could I forget about my souvenir?” You gasp, grabbing the item from Heizou’s hand and giving him a thankful smile.
The souvenir that you almost left in Inazuma is a hand fan that the men have picked out for you! Since you’re unsure what to get at the gift shop in Inazuma City, the men offered to pick something out for you collectively. Heizou smiles at you, walks over to where the others are standing, and turns to face your direction.
“We’ll be back soon! But for now, off to Sumeru!” You said, waving to the six Inazuman men with a big (yet sleepy) smile on your face.
Before any of the Inazuman men could say anything, you, Lumine, Aether, and Paimon were gone from their sight. Thoma visibly flinches when he feels a strange tug in his chest, the feeling of emptiness hitting everyone out of the blue. Even though the meeting with you was brief, the men couldn’t help but feel a sense of familiarity when it came to you, and the emptiness hitting them all was strange. Everyone wanted to go after you to keep you company in Sumeru, but they couldn’t chase after you— especially after you said you’d be back soon.
Upon arriving in Sumeru, you are on the brink of falling asleep. This is the first time you have traveled with the twins without a nap between teleporting to different nations. Your eyelids feel heavy, your limbs feel heavy, and you want to go to sleep. You find yourself falling asleep on Aether’s shoulders when you feel him nudge you when footsteps get closer to where you, Paimon, Lumine, and Aether are sitting.
“Apologies for having us all meet here at Puspa Cafe late in the evening. I hope that none of you have work to tend to. It’s better to meet in the late evening because there’s less foot traffic in Sumeru City,” you hear a man say.
An exasperated voice replies, “All you do is think about yourself, Al Haitham! Some of us are tired and had a long day at work as architects, such as myself! And look at Aether and Lumine’s friend! That poor thing is exhausted too!”
You perk up and look at the irritated blond man with shock. “Did you just call me a thing?” You ask.
The dark-haired man with giant furry ears laughs nervously. “Kaveh doesn’t mean it like that, [Y/N]. Kaveh is irritated with Al Haitham, and I apologize in advance for both of them because they bicker with each other a lot,” he gives you a sympathetic smile.
“You’ll get used to the bickering,” the white-haired man says.
A man wearing a hat approaches the table. “I’m still not used to hearing them bicker,” he says, rolling his eyes.
Paimon clears her throat, glaring at the five men in front of her. “[Y/N]! Meet Al Haitham, Kaveh, Tighnari, Cyno, and Scaramouche. Scaramouche goes by many names, but we don’t talk about that,” said Paimon.
“It’s nice to meet all of you! I, uh, apologize for wanting to meet all of you suddenly. I think it would be great to meet all of Lumine, Aether, and Paimon’s friends from all nations while I continue to search for who I am,” you said politely.
Kaveh looks at you curiously. “Oh? Are you going on a spiritual journey?” Kaveh asks, resting his arms on the table.
“No,” you shake your head, “I’m amnesiac, and I don’t know where I’m from or who I am,” you reply.
Tighnari’s eyes light up. “Oh! So you’re the mysterious outlander friend that Aether and Lumine have fished out of the ocean!” Tighnari points at you with acknowledgment.
Cyno elbows Tighnari’s side, making the man wince and glare at him. “It’s not nice to point your fingers at someone you don’t know,” Cyno scolds Tighnari.
Al Haitham looks at you closely. “Judging by your clothes, you don’t look like you’re from any regions in Teyvat,” said Al Haitham.
“Let’s not point out the obvious, Al Haitham. Lumine and Aether have mentioned it a few times already. It’s not an unknown fact that [Y/N] isn’t from any of the regions,” Scaramouche rolls his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest and leaning in his seat across from you.
You sit in silence while the others around you continue to discuss your origins. While they’re talking with each other, you let yourself space out and stare at the table in front of you. The pastries that were ordered, along with the drinks, look appetizing. But since you ate so much food before arriving in Sumeru, you’re not sure if you can try something new.
You stare at the pastry in front of you, debating whether you should eat it. You decide not to eat the pastry in front of you and sit back in your seat with your head resting on the top rail. You’re tired, and as much as you want to join in on the conversation, you can’t get yourself to do it. You get up from your seat and walk out of Puspa Cafe without saying a word, trying to rub the sleep from your eyes.
The chilly night air hits you like a sumpter beast, sending violent chills down your spine. You lean against the wooden railing outside the cafe and close your eyes, letting the cool breeze lull you to sleep. The temperature is the perfect temperature to fall asleep in; if only you were in a bed, snuggling in your blanket, and drifting off to sleep, everything would have been perfect. But instead, you’re outside Puspa Cafe, falling asleep on the wooden railing while everyone else is inside, talking to each other.
“Wow, you must be exhausted from today’s event,” a voice startles you awake.
Your eyelids fly open, and your head snaps in the person’s direction. Dainsleif emerges from the shadows and gazes at you with an amused look on his face. You feel your face heat up, and you look away from the blond man that now stands before you.
“Although I don’t blame you for feeling this way. You have been traveling region to region with Aether and Lumine, meeting new people,” Dainsleif says casually, leaning on the railing beside you.
You rub your eyes. “Have you been watching our every move, Dainsleif?” You ask, poking his biceps.
“Watching? No. Making sure that you, Aether, Lumine, and Paimon travel safely? Yes,” replies Dainsleif.
You sigh and rest your head on Dainsleif’s shoulder, catching him off guard. Dainsleif stands still and looks at you from the corner of his eyes. You look like you could pass out at any moment. Silence hangs in the air between you two, and the sound of crickets fills the air.
“You know, you can join us on our journey. You don’t have to watch us from a distance and be alone,” you murmur.
Dainsleif doesn’t respond. Instead, his blue eyes gaze at the stars that hang over the two of you, then in your direction. Before Dainsleif could say anything, the door to Puspa Cafe opens, and the others step out into the night, stopping in their tracks when they see you leaning against Dainsleif.
“Dainsleif! What are you doing here?” Paimon asks.
Tighnari points at Dainsleif. “Is he your boyfriend by any chance?” Tighnari asks. For a brief moment, Tighnari looks hurt, almost heartbroken.
You look at Tighnari with wide eyes and shake your head. “He’s not my boyfriend, Tighnari.”
A massive wave of relief washes over five men standing before you and Dainsleif. You remove your head from Dainsleif’s shoulders and stretch your arms, yawning.
“You suddenly left Puspa Cafe. Is there a reason why?” Cyno asks, his eyes trailing over to the tall blond man beside you.
You rub your cold arms and shake your head. “Other than needing fresh air, hoping it’ll wake me up? Not really,” you reply.
Kaveh points at Dainsleif dramatically. “He doesn’t look like he’s from Teyvat. Look at his clothes and his mask! Speaking of his clothes, look at his cape! It looks almost identical to Paimon’s cape,” Kaveh says, eyes scanning Dainsleif from head to toe.
Al Haitham rolls his eyes. “Oh, don’t be dramatic, Kaveh.”
Kaveh scoffs and looks at Al Haitham with his hands on his hips, poking the inside of his cheek with his tongue, glaring at the acting Grand Sage in front of him. You press your lips into a thin line and slowly look up at Dainsleif, who is already looking at you.
“I’m done with these two,” Scaramouche mutters, pinching the bridge of his nose with a sigh.
Dainsleif crosses his arms over his chest. “This is my cue to leave,” said Dainsleif.
You’re about to protest, but a portal opens in front of him, and he walks through it. The portal closes once he enters. You let out another sigh and turn to the people in front of you. You’re tired and want to go to sleep, but at the same time, you want to explore around Sumeru a little bit before going to the teapot to get some much-needed shut-eye.
“Is it okay if we go and explore Sumeru? I know it’s nighttime, but exploring Sumeru would be nice,” you said.
Kaveh points at the sky. “Explore Sumeru in the darkness? I don’t know about that….” Kaveh trails off.
Tighnari scratches his ears. “I think we should explore Sumeru in the morning. It’s safer that way,” Tighnari replies.
“If we all go together, I think we should be fine,” Scaramouche says, taking his hat off and fixing his hair that is blown by the wind.
Cyno looks at everyone around him. “What do you guys think? Should we go an explore Sumeru?”
“Exploring Sumeru at a time like this is nothing new to me. I’m okay with it as long as everyone is okay with it,” answers Al Haitham.
The last thing you remembered was exploring Sumeru with Aether, Lumine, Paimon, and the five guests (Al Haitham, Cyno, Kaveh, and Tighnari). Now, here you are, sitting in the middle of some forest in Sumeru alone. You have been roaming around the forest for a long time, and every tree, shrubbery, and thicket looks the same. You’re not sure how Tighnari is able to guide the group through the forest without issues.
You run your fingers through your hair and lean against a tree, sliding to the ground. You’re too tired to
“Yeah, maybe exploring the forest at night was a mistake,” you deadpan. “Well, if it isn’t the consequences of my actions,” you lightly slap your forehead.
You rest your head against the tree trunk and close your eyes. You would go and try to search for the others, but you don’t think that is a good idea. Maybe this is the perfect time for you to take a nap while the others try and find you. You lay on the ground and curl into a fetal position, drifting off to sleep.
After what felt like twenty minutes, your eyes fly open when you feel something poke your face. You stumble to your feet when you see a strange being in front of you. It’s small, like, really small. The way it stares at you is unsettling, but it’s kind of cute. You can’t find a way to describe it, but it’s green and has a leaf for a hair… hat? Either way, it’s small and carries a stick.
“What are you?” You whisper, leaning down to poke it lightly. “Am I hallucinating by any chance?” You ask yourself.
The tiny creature continues to stare at you, not saying a word. You end up introducing yourself to the green being in front of you, and it eventually speaks, which throws you off guard because you didn’t think it could talk. He introduces himself as Arabalika, and he is an Aranara, a plantlike forest spirit that resides in Vanarana.
It turns out you somehow wandered to Vanarana, but no need to fear because Arabalika and his little Aranara buddies are here to keep you company. You’re amazed at seeing the Grove of Dreams now that Arabalika has led you to where the Aranaras reside. When you walk into Vanarana, a hoard of Aranaras surrounds you, looking at you curiously.
“Do you think my friends will be able to find me here? I don’t know how much longer I can stay in Vanarana,” you said softly.
It wasn’t like you didn’t want to stay in Vanarana. You felt like you were intruding as someone who isn’t a forest spirit. The Aranaras were sweet to you! They refused to leave you alone, and the Aranaras offered to make you something to eat (which you declined because of the amount of food you have consumed today) and provided some entertainment.
While you and the Aranaras are warming up to each other, the people you went exploring in the forest with are scrambling around to search for you. They searched high and low for you, only to find nothing at all.
“Where could they have wandered off?” Al Haitham asks.
“They didn’t wander off; we wandered off without checking to see if they were following us or not,” Kaveh interjects.
Cyno sits on the ground. “Then what do we do? We can’t find them in the forest. We can’t leave them all alone until the sun rises,” Cyno grumbles, yanking the grass from the ground.
“Hey! Don’t do that,” Tighnari scolds Cyno, slapping the grass out of Cyno’s hands before huffing loudly.
“We’re going to have a [Y/N] search party,” Lumine says.
Scaramouche blinks at Lumine owlishly. “A [Y/N] search party?” Scaramouche asks.
Lumine and Aether look at each other, nodding at one another. As much as they don’t want to disturb others of their sleep, they have no other choice but to get the other men involved.
You sit on the grass, weaving flowers with Arabalika and the other Aranaras. They offered a temporary home for you to rest in, but you refused to sleep no matter how tired you were. Plus, you have this unsettling feeling where you feel like you’re being watched. And you know it’s not Dainsleif because he would have shown up before Arabalika discovered you in the forest.
Arabalika taps your knees to grab your attention. “What’s wrong, Nara friend?”
You give Arabalika a wary smile. “I feel like we’re being watched, do you?” You whisper to Arabalika.
“It’s okay if you feel that way. We will protect you,” Arabalika says, holding your hand.
You laugh and squeeze Arabalika’s hand, not sure what he’s implying. How can something as small as he protects you from the dangers lurking in the forest?
“Should we make ourselves known to them?” Dottore asks, his back pressing up against a tree.
Pierro shakes his head. “I don’t think it’s time for us to introduce ourselves to [Y/N] just yet,” Pierro mutters, watching you interact with the Aranaras.
“Aw, what a shame. I really wanted to introduce myself to [Y/N],” Pantalone laments, leaning against the tree that was a few meters from where you’re sitting.
“Unless you want to start a problem, go ahead,” Capitano grumbles. “Those little creatures are guarding [Y/N]. It’s strange to see how protective they are of someone that isn’t part of this world,” Captiano peeks from behind the trees.
You finish weaving the flower crown and place it on Arabalika’s head, and he puts his completed flower crown on your head. You recall one of the Aranaras inviting you to their little concert, so you let Arabalika guide you to where the show is being held. You sit in the crowd and watch them play the instruments in awe. Arabalika waddles over to you, pulls you to the center of the “stage,” and attempts to get you to join in on the dancing.
You knew that you were not alone in the forest with the Aranaras, but if you were going to die soon, you might as well enjoy your last moments dancing with the Aranaras. While you’re in the middle of twirling around with Arabalika in your hands, you hear a twig snap loudly. The music ceases, and you stop spinning, holding Arabalika in the air, slowly turning to look in the direction of where the twig has snapped.
Over twenty heads peek from behind the trees. You squint at them and slowly put Arabalika down, shielding your eyes to try to get a better look at each person’s face.
“Oh, it seems like you have found me,” you said.
Venti pouts. “Someone doesn’t sound too happy about being found,” Venti says.
“Sorry to interrupt your performance, but we were looking everywhere for you,” Kaeya speaks up, emerging from the shadows, and walks over to where you stand.
Arabalika steps in front of you, holding his arms out. Kaeya stops in his tracks and gazes at Arabalika with an amused look on his face.
Dainsleif chuckles. “It seems like the Aranara is trying to protect [Y/N],” said Dainsleif.
You look at the men who now stand in front of you, Arabalika and the other Aranaras. “Why are all of you in Sumeru? Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad to see all of you again, but what are you guys doing here?” You ask.
“Lumine, Aether, and Paimon came to all of us and requested us to search for you. We heard that you went missing in the forest of Sumeru, and they didn’t know how else to track you down,” Diluc interjects.
You nod your head slowly. “So… Aether, Lumine, and Paimon traveled to your respective nations to have you all search for me?” You ask.
“That is correct. Although we did arrive earlier than all of you,” Pantalone speaks up, walking out from behind a tree with a smug smile on his face.
Aether and Lumine look at each other with wide eyes, pointing over at the four Harbingers, now standing behind you. It seems like there are uninvited guests as well. You look at the four Harbingers behind you and then at the other people in front of you.
“I have no idea what is going on, nor do I know the history you all have with each other, but can we not start this now?” You ask.
“And why is that, little one? Are you playing as the mediator in this situation?” Pierro asks, raising an eyebrow at you, the corners of his lips quirked up.
You hunch over and shake your head. “No, I just don’t have the energy to deal with this,” you gesture between the two groups, “and I have spent every last energy of mine dancing with Arabalika and the Aranaras. I want to go to sleep,” you said.
Arabalika turns around and gazes at you. Even with that blank stare of his, you knew what he was implying. Arabalika holds his hand up, and you grab them, letting Arabalika guide you to the nearest Aranara house.
“If all of you are going to fight, I might as well sleep through it. Arabalika will show me to my temporary room until the fight is over,” you announce over your shoulders.
The remaining Aranaras stare at the Naras (and Paimon) before them. Without saying a word, they all waddle after you and Arabalika, the sound of their footsteps gradually fading away. Just when the men thought they were the only ones drawn to you, the Aranaras are just as drawn to you as they are. However, the Aranaras are drawn to you for a different reason. The men, however, are drawn to you because they feel a connection with you and are also attracted to you. Whoever you are, wherever you came from, it doesn’t matter to them because they will try to have you for themselves. The tension was broken by the sound of Paimon and Lumine snickering with each other.
“You’re all fighting over [Y/N], and yet the Aranaras snatch [Y/N] up just like that,” Paimon says, giggling behind her hand.
Lumine raises her eyebrows. “Good luck trying to get the Aranaras' approval to be with [Y/N]. If you all think that I’m protective of [Y/N], you’re wrong,” Lumine chuckles. “They see something in [Y/N], and it makes them want to guard [Y/N] with their entire being,” Lumine strokes her chin.
When you collapsed into bed and were tucked into bed by Arabalika, the other Aranaras stood in front of your temporary house, guarding the door and watching the people closely. So much for finding you and bringing you back to Sumeru City. Now they have to wait for the next day to bring you back to civilization without causing any problems with the Aranaras, who are surprisingly protective of you.

You were shaking on your knees, bound to a damn statue that was similar to you, you had read hundreds of these imposter stories au type. laughed at some, angry at some, but in the true reality you were scared of this possibility to happen. When you first woke up in teyvat you just wanted to adventure and find out the true nature of your fav game, but alas that is what every imposter chasing begins... you ran from all of the different nations each and every minute u get the chance... but unfortunately for you. you have finally been captured by the damn anemo archon. A pair of shoes were Infront of you. the Geo archon... rex lapis stand Infront of you, he had the face of disgust. Ei the electro archon was besides him aswell as the anemo archon Barbatos. they were giving a speech on what will happen to you.. you were... gonna die. No... NO! you weren't gonna die! not yet! you still have a future, a goal, a dream! u cant die not now.. no no no no!! tears swell in your eyes, you cant... but you are now absolutely weak. You are just a mere mortal in the end of the day. "as the punishment by stealing our graces face you shall be beheaded!" venti announced loudly making the mortals and adepti cheer in excitement. didn't you fucking steal your friends face because u were to weak to protect them? and being fucking beheaded! you don't wanna be len kagamin every wednesday!
The shogun stood behind you, her Musou no Hitotachi ready to strike you down. "what are your final words imposter.." fuck fuck, you were really gonna die by dumbasses. you knew u were the creator really, but u didn't know how to control ur powers as u never had time to even relax and find out. but you knew... your child. teyvat was always by your side... they.. were always by your side!
You laughed startling everyone, they were silent as u continue to laugh louder and louder, "y-you" The shogun was shaking with rage how dare you laugh in this damn situation, are u... mocking the creator? tch. As the shogun striked down you shouted. "I WILL NEVER FORGIVE U ALL, I MAY BE FORGOTTEN AND FORGET, BUT NO MATTER WHAT MY CHILD WILL TAKE REVENGE FOR ME! MARK MY-" sliced. splat. thud. golden and starry blood splattered everywhere, to the statue, near some citizens and adepti, the two archons and most especially... the shogun.
Silence. your head rolled infront of the two archons, the archons had a shocked and terrified expression. "a..." screams arised from everyone, they just killed their creator! the archons were stuck in their place... then chaos.
Teyvat began to shake , the ground cracks and thunder struck on the place where u died. the statue of you glowed and came to life, gripping and taking the archons and throwing them all over the place, all elemental regisvine grew in the borders, monsters, hilichurls, abyss mages has began to run rampage and killing people.
all the dead Archons has arised and is taken to battle. Guizhong, the 4 yakshas, nameless bard... and all the dead characters has risen to torment and fight to avange your death.. their dear creator.. screams of terror, cries of sorrow and yelling of apologies, it was just pure chaos.
but.. in the spot on where you were killed, the statue of you was embracing two children.. a boy and a girl, they were sobbing as the statue of you began to crumble and turn to dust... genshin characters' bodies headcanons
Tumblr media
ok so we all know that genshin impact's in-game models leave much to be desired, soooo I wanted to explain some of the headcanons I have about characters’ physical features that don’t really get explored in game :) aka genshin but with actual body diversity lets goooooo (no this does not include genitalia)
I’m using Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r foundation shades to describe skin tone (you can go to their website here for references!)
cw: description of body parts, mentions of scars/past injuries, sfw
characters: diluc, kaeya, childe, beidou
word count: ~1k
Tumblr media
Diluc Ragavindr
this man is BUILT!
thick muscular tree trunk arms and legs to support that giant ass claymore he swings around; and a wide, muscular back spread
He has a lot of muscle but he’s not super cut, there’s a slight layer of fat over it all so he has that soft but bulky build (and big tiddies)
big, strong veiny hands with thick fingers that aren’t stubby but not slender, he simply keeps his nails short but doesn’t do any fancy upkeep
I imagine him to be around 5’10” because I like to think he’s a little shorter than Kaeya (who totally makes fun of him for it)
he probably has some old scars on his arms and legs, which he pays little to no mind to
he has a tall nose bridge and a strong brow so it looks like he’s always scowling even if he’s not (no more alien bug eyes lmfao)
He has naturally pouty lips, but when he smiles (which he rarely does) he looks absolutely angelic
Fair skinned but with a warm undertone (fenty beauty shade 105), it’s hard to get him embarrassed but if you do, he blushes easily
The fluffiest hair you can imagine, its so soft and so pretty but he doesn’t really take special care of it so it’s usually just thrown back in a ponytail
He has a fair bit of body hair on his arms and legs, and if he doesn’t shave for a couple days he gets stubble on his face
Kaeya Alberich
Long, lanky and slender, but still muscular
He’s got toned arms and legs from being a Knight of Favonius but he’s not as stocky as Diluc, it’s more like a lean fit situation
His hands are big but his fingers are more slender and elongated
He takes care of his nails and lets Klee paint them sometimes :)
He has a slightly crooked smile that’s oh so charming, but it never quite reaches his eyes
He has the most beautiful long fluttering eyelashes and kissable lips
I imagine Kaeya to be about 6’2” or so, most of that height is from his long ass legs
He also has miscellaneous battle scars but he prefers to keep them hidden so people don’t ask too many questions about his past
Wide shoulders but a narrow waist (for other men to grab)
Much darker skin than the in-game model, and I think his undertones are cool (fenty beauty shade 340 or 450 I can’t decide)
His hair is also fluffy but the strands are longer and coarser than Diluc’s so it falls more evenly; also his hair is wavy when brushed out, but when he wakes up it forms into curls naturally! I also imagine him to take better care of his hair than his brother
Has less body hair than Diluc and cannot grow even facial hair to save his life (he prefers a clean look anyways)
Childe/Ajax/Tartaglia
he’s very muscular and cut from years of nonstop fighting, literally a greek god
He could crush your head between his thick thighs like a watermelon
He’s pretty damn tall, standing at around 6’4” or so, pretty even proportions
This man is pasty af!!! His undertones are cool and his skin has a pink, rosy glow (fenty beauty shade 100)
He cannot get a tan to save his life, instead he gets a shit ton of freckles all over his face and body, the freckles fade in the winter but they’re always slightly visible
His body is absolutely covered in battle scars because he’s so reckless, but he wears them with pride as proof of his training and skills
He has a scar on his forehead that cuts through his eyebrow, giving him a permanent eyebrow slit
His hair is the exact consistency and color of Ed Sheeran’s
His nose has a bump in the middle and it’s a little crooked because he broke it and it never healed properly (he doesn’t care to get it fixed)
His neck is thick and he has a prominent adam’s apple
Slightly thinner lips that are a pale pink, they naturally rest in an easy smile to juxtapose his dead eyes
He has small dimples on both cheeks when he smiles
Beidou
MUSCLE MOMMY, I’d like to think shes in her late 30’s or early 40’s
She has an overwhelmingly large presence, immediately taking over the aura of any room she enters
She has a wide, muscular back rife with scars that she flexes when she’s drunk
She’s pretty tanned from being out on the sea all the time and has a warm undertone (fenty beauty shade 255)
Could also crush your head with her thick thighs or biceps (her lat spread is insane)
Definitely has washboard abs, a perfect 6-pack
She’s pretty tall, around 5’11”
Blunt and thick fingers, she doesn’t bother with fancy nail care but keeps them tidy
Her hair is very coarse, straight and thick, the kids in Liyue Harbor try to play with it using clips and braids but they always fall out because her hair is so resilient
She has deep set smile lines and crow’s feet from many years of hearty laughter
Her eyes are monolid; technically speaking it’s just one eye since the other was lost in a vicious battle a long time ago
She has a long scar running over her lost eye from her forehead to the middle of her cheek, and another smaller scar on the corner of her lips
Her nose is rounded at the end and also used to be crooked from a fight, but Ningguang made her fix it because a deviated septum is bad for breathing
Tumblr media
a/n: this was soooo much fun i have so many more ideas for other characters but lmk who you wanna see next :3

who out of the genshin boys, you think are virgins?
virgins:
childe — guys listen, my headcanon is childe‘s actually quite popular in securing some people that are interested in him, but he cannot flirt when he has to (heavy on the 'has to' because we know childe has a somewhat flirty personality sometimes but if it’s needed, he does not flirt 🥹he gets kinda shy and prefers to talk about other stuff) bear in mind!!! he doesn‘t realise someones flirting with him when they do as well + honestly, he‘s far too immersed in fighting too, he sees the thrill in it and the feeling of sheer bliss is that very thing that keeps him going!
xiao — guys, okay so, i actually think xiao‘s a virgin because he‘s far too scared to hurt someone (because his karma, not his gigantic huge cock) so he usually takes quite the distance between other people! he‘s subby once he gives himself to you, he‘s eagerly listening to what you have to say and doesn‘t want to mess his first time up, not for his sake, but he‘s scared to be so bad at pleasuring you that you leave him or see him as a burden + he spent the majority of his life fighting off his own karma and monsters etc, being a responsible yaksha we love it 😮‍💨
scaramouche — YOU CANNOT TELL ME this guy fucked before, scara‘s so frustrated n all /hj 🤠 (also the shorts help THIS IS A JOKE I LIKE HIS SHORTS ACTUALLY) no but in all seriousness, i don‘t think it actually happened between him and another person while he was within the ranks of the fatui, he was far too driven into his own goals and their persuasion, i don‘t think he actually spend much time thinking about being intimate with someone nor did it cross his mind! also he was disliked and feared by his underlings + scara doesn‘t seem the type to be into one night stands or quickies either imo!

hewo kay <3 can i request #5 with xiao please and thank you !
Tumblr media Tumblr media
𓆩 ღ 𓆪 𝐦𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬
( i search for you in my dreams. )
Tumblr media
chara : xiao fandom : genshin impact quote cr : li qingzhao a/n : sunny ......... hewwo ( ´ ▽ ` ).。o♡ tysm for the request !!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
goodbye is fleeting , temporary. a lonely adeptus has said far too many in his lifetimes, knowing that it would be the end of all. it is a simple word, he thinks, and to drown in the depths of disordered emotion is a foolish thing for a yaksha to do. but even he cannot fight against the sorrow that comes in the significance of a goodbye, because somewhere in there, there's a forever, and somewhere, there's a i will see you on the other side.
xiao hates to say the word. it is one thing to leave you, even if for a moment, but another to utter the formalities of departure, and you know this very well. you read him too well, and it's irritating yet fills his chest with something warm and loved.
it is another night that he will speak of it once more, and he cannot help but notice that strange semblance of anxiety that weaves its way into his blood, violent and vicious and victorious. you stand by him, note the subtle way his body tenses in anticipation of what will come when you must go separate ways.
you let out a quiet sigh, and when he looks at you, he expects a sadness, but there's just the faintest of smiles on your lips, and in your eyes, there's hope. you glance at him before your gaze shifts to the sky, and if he looks carefully enough, then he'd notice the way your lips curl just the tiniest bit more.
"have you heard of the moon lovers, xiao?"
the tale of the moon lovers is one he is vaguely familiar with. such question strikes a chord in his heart. he nods.
"it was once said that there were two beings that fell in love in the hardest of times, in the midst of unknowns and uncertainties. it was meant to be a tragic love from the start to the end, and they knew this. everyone did." your voice wavers just the slightest bit, and slowly, you lace your fingers with his. "but they fought against fate, knowing that despite all the grief, it would be worth it in the end. in the times they were apart, they looked to the moon for guidance in the dark-- because it meant they still existed under the same sky, and to them, that was enough until they could reunite again."
xiao remembers this story. it does not end in sorrow, nor does it end in joy. it is a bittersweet tale, one he had long forgotten until now.
"they did not exchange goodbyes." he notes, voice quiet, nearly unheard. how very strange that he understands this story more than ever now.
"no, they didn't. they always knew they'd see each other again, whether in life or in death." you squeeze his hand, gentle, feel him reciprocate the gesture. "do you remember what they always said?"
something strange fills the air, but it is not melancholy this time. it is something hopeful, something akin to solace and serenity. it makes his heart ache, somehow, but it's a good kind of ache, he thinks. he swallows hard, and you feel his grasp on your hand tighten.
"i'll see you in my dreams."
a silence lingers, eases the heaviness that presses against his chest. you turn slightly, face him directly. the smile on your face has yet to fade, but there's something kinder about it, something softer, and he loves it all the more.
"you have to leave soon." the reminder hits harder than either of you would like, and soon, the night will end in the divergence of two lovers. "that's okay, though. it'll be alright. always is, right?"
your hand cups his cheek, fingers a ghost of a touch as they graze over his skin. he finds that he cannot speak. he has always hated goodbyes.
he hates to say goodbye, and you know this, so you won't.
you lean forward, press your lips against his. it's a brief kiss, but it makes his face flush with that familiar tinge of pink that always seems to make you laugh.
"be safe, xiao. i'll see you in my dreams."
you pull away, but he's quick to hold onto you, almost as if any distance away from you is all too much. with a gentle tug of your hand, he takes you in his arms, touch tender and amorous.
"i will return." he murmurs, and he kisses you once more, words spoken against your lips in promise of reunion. "i will see you in my dreams."

I just reread your Language Barrier AU and the ballpoint where reader was pissed because these fuckers just couldn't help but talk like Zhongli-
MINCE YOUR WORDS.
IN ONE SENTENCE.
PREFERABLY 5 WORDS OR LESS.
EXPLAIN IT TO ME LIKE I'M RAZOR.
Argh, God. I'm getting mad just thinking about it. 😤 Imagine in a fight and these dudes just sttaight up blurted a fucking 5 book-length, hard bounded soliloquy- I cannot-
No, Venti, Kazuha. You cannot use Haikus-
No, Cyno, you cannot use jokes either- but that is debatable-
And Oh. My. God. I kept thinking about when fighting and y'all kept throwing words (like when using a skill) and I'm just here standing, bracing myself SO HARD trying not to laugh (also irl). And then maybe now and then some mistranslation on Reader's mind since they use JP VA since the start of Genshin (assuming they play?) are new to Teyvat's Language:
'One with the Floor!'
One with the what?
'Shake your ass, sir!'
Cue spitting tea-
(Sorry, that's just me mishearing things 💀) But like at those times, Reader is the one dying of laughter lol. Imagine them explaing to Beidou that they thought she said 'Power of the ending Hotdog' instead of 'Power that ended Haishan'.
Aight, imma just.. go.
*imma send this anonymously because im shy, but do know that I love bread 🥖
Also @2:20
For you 🤲🥨🍩🥧🥐all the bread for the superior ask, anon
I could definitely see myself saying "ONE SENTENCE. U HAVE TO RESPOND IN ONE SENTENCE ONLY." then they manage to still make it a whole 40 word sentence 💀
Tumblr media
^^ Confused Bakugou gif is literally u being shocked bc u keep mishearing everyones bursts on the battlefield LMAO SHAKE UR ASS SIR THAT ONE TOOK ME TF OUT ANON
"Speed of Bite!" (Keqing's Speed of Light lol)
"I will have whore her!" (Zhongli's I will have order 😭)
"Time for... Execution!" (Diluc's time for retribution lol)
...
You in the background like: 🧍‍♂️... tfs wrong with yall, u glitched??
They're like, physically incapable of making your kind of simple blunt sentences
Like i think some people would get close: Albedo, Xinyan, Klee, Qiqi, Sayu (rlly likes it bc it lets them be lazier), Cyno (maybe at first but then he would like, explain for 10 min after every simple sentence what he meant like his jokes 😭), Hu Tao, Heizou, Lumine/Aether, Xiao (can kinda get close but he gets frustrated and then rants for 30 minutes lmao), Razor (holds the title for the closest to your simple speech,👏👏LMAO PPL ACCIDENTALLY THINKING HES A GOD)
People who will never get it, not even if ur in battle & ur life depends on it LMAO:
Zhongli (he rlly wants to but habits over thousands of years r hard to break 🙏 rip), Yun Jin, Xingqiu, Kuni/Babygirl, Venti, Kazuha, Sucrose, Shenhe, Kokomi, Ei, Nahida (tho it was a valiant effort), Noelle, Alhaitham, Sara, Ningguang (she doesnt want to even try lol), Mona, Fischl, Jean, Ganyu, Eula, Barbara, Diluc + Kaeya (unsurpringly both of them are tied for being the worst attempts at speaking simply 💀, guess its just that fancy etiquette training, its too hard to break) 😔
Yeah, ur pretty much begging the ppl who can get close to ur speech to constantly translate everyone else
Rest in peace traveler, theyre like the first person u turn to,
(Paimon is also kinda bad at speaking simply, closest shes gotten is when she demands food lol)
Idk how good this was, but THANK U FOR THE ASK AGAIN I AM ALWAYS READY TO HEAR OTHERS MAKE MY BRAINROT WORSE OVER LANGUAGE GENSHIN <3
ALSO I CANT BELIEVE U SENT ME THAT CYNO JOKES VIDEO PLEASE ITS SO LONG IT WAS SO FUNNY I STILL HAVENT WATCHED THE FULL THING
Feel free to send another in whenever i love talking to yall ♡
Cheers,

You know, when you can't find exactly what you are looking for while searching for fanfictions and you just go "Fine, I'll do it myself"?
Well, I do it, with my OC's AND fanfictions hahahaha.
Sometimes I crave for something that I cannot find, like, one day I was searching platonic fanfictions between Brook and Sanji and it is sooo hard to find some that are finished and not...well, not ship and all.
Now, it's the same for genshin. I have played the archon quest and Neuvillette's story quest, I loved both, really they were amazing.
I don't regret pulling for Neuvillette (and I got his weapon, lucky me) but now?? After everything? My brain just won't stop thinking about the next part (stop reading if you haven't done the archon quest, spoilers are coming) and of different "what if" that could happen in the next version. Like, what if Furina wasn't only one person, that she's not the real hydro archon after everything Arlecchino told us and, I know many like Furine but I don't, she's not even able to tell us what her emergency plans are in case of a catastrophe. Right now I have more faith in Arlecchino, Neuvillette, Wrio (I have still now idea on how to write it by myself), Lyney, Lynette, Freminet, Clorinde, EVERYONE BUT Furina. She can't take responsibility when things go South and it's driving me almosy crazy.
Anyway, I also think about everything that could happen to Neuvillette. Like, what if he's the only hope and he sacrifices himself in order to save everyone? What if Wrio do the same because this guy has more solutions than the archon herself and that's actuelly insane (he is building a SHIP to save people, he is holding the seal of the primordial sea, he is the one holding the front line in this mess and he does it alone most of the time).
And don't get me started with Childe. Hell, that man is not even in my top 5 but I'd do anything if it means saving him right now. I know when a character is a good one, and Childe certainly is. What the hell is he doing in the primordial sea?! What was that giant thing he saw? To me it looked like a dragon, its shape was similar to Dvalin's if I remember well. And I don't care, I'm not lettong Childe die. He's not even guilty for what he was accused! Sure, he is a criminal and clearly not the kindest person here, but will he ever kidnapp people, hurt children?? That man straight up lied to his little brother in order to protect his innocence and the image he has of his big brother, I can't believe he would do that.
I can't even tell you how clearly I can see the pictures of what I've been thinking about since I finished the archon quest. It's so vivid, and I see Neuvillette standing up, tall and proud in front of a massive wave, taller, wider and stronger than the one in the forteress. He cannot do it alone with his actual power and then, Clorinde, Wrio, people who can fight join him and face the wave and that's just... Maybe I was influenced by Dressrosa Arc by a lot because everyone working, fighting together is just so wholesome and powerfull that I need to see it happen in genshin.
Well, than you for reading all of this. Don't hesitate to share with me what you've been thinking about the quest!

Chapter 23 - Her Very Own Knight
Tumblr media
AO3 Link
Fandom: Genshin Impact
Characters (main): Eula Lawrence, Ann von Lupus (OC)
Series: They Say I Shouldn't, But...
Pairing: Eulann (Eula/Ann)
Previous Chapter - Masterlist - Next Chapter
“Halt! Who goes there!?”
Just when having made the first few meters away from the cell the two were stopped dead in their tracks. At least Eula had made it to a sudden halt, feeling Ann bump into her from behind. Who had stopped them? It wasn’t just one person, no, it was several. A hoard of guards standing in line, having their weapons at the ready, wanting to attack anytime. It was just the front yet there was no other exit. Eula should know at the very least, being more than familiar with the layout after all. But were they seriously going to pick a fight with her of all people, one of the knights? Then again, of course they would. ‘Prevent any intruders’ and it would not be the first time they gave her the stinky eye. In fact, they may as well be used to it by now. But that didn’t mean that she would double down either.
So, as hard as it was, she soon let go of Ann, even if only for a short moment. After all, who knows who will strike, even if she doubted a sneak attack from behind at this rate. Regardless, you could never be too careful. So with her both hands free she grabbed her claymore, ready to charge in. “You stay back, you hear?” She said, somewhat demanding, before not wasting any more of her breath nor anyone else’s for that matter. A direct charge in, there was literally no time to waste.
The attack was sudden, the heavy swing coming out of nowhere for most of them. Make sure to not slice them into two halves with the claymore, just enough to knock them out. It would be not so beneficial if blood was splattering all over the walls after all. It would take lots of explaining to do in the end and she was not up for that, not really at least. And it would be more than inconvenient.
At least one swing was enough to knock out those who had not seen this coming, who had been caught off guard and thus were being thrown around like the training dummies she frequently used. But a few had noticed quickly, making sure to hold the fort by parrying with their own weapons, only being thrown back a little. They would strike back right away, coming one after the other at the young knight yet she knew better than that. Parrying, dodging, countering – Whichever fit best, she would do so without hesitation. As long as she did not let anyone get any closer! The battle was fierce, to say the least, and almost exhausting. But Eula did not rest, especially having to get this over with as quickly as possible. One counter after the other, no buts nor hesitation! There was no hint of that in any way to begin with!
So she knocked them out, one bastard after the other before they were all lying on the ground. Or rather on a pile. It took a lot of energy but there was no time to rest in the end. All Eula did was put the claymore back and grab Ann again without a warning, dashing out, before reinforcements could arrive. And she saved her breath, at least until they escaped. So all she could hear was the steps both took, a forced hurry. Maybe it was the fear, the current rush, yet it couldn’t be helped for a while. So it was just running and running, taking quick steps. And it did not stop when reaching the exit, no. There had to be a good distance. And eventually there was, both being far away from the Lawrence’s grounds.
Only then both were allowed to let out breaths, catching them in the process. Right hidden in between the woods, the trees and bushes covering them. So even if they were being chased it would take ages for anyone to find the two most likely.
And yet, the silence was unbearable. At least for Eula it was. Because it had then dreaded her… Right, there is something she has to tell Ann. A warning of some sorts, make sure that it is more than clear between the two… They cannot keep this up. The two of them cannot keep being like this. It was impossible to keep up. Not if it means being endangered like this. Does it hurt? Maybe. But what other choice does she have? It was either live or die, at least for Ann.
“Hah… Th… Thank you for coming…” She heard it escaping from Ann’s lips however, sounding more than relieved. That only made it harder, didn’t it? Knowing that she will never hear the voice of the young woman ever again. So can’t she just stop talking!? “I really thought that I… Well… That I was… You see–”
“Stay away.” It was a sudden interruption. It had just shot out of Eula’s mouth. No more, or this is only becoming harder than it was. She did not even face Ann, knowing it would be harder to walk away otherwise. Thus Eula just turned away quickly, not being able to see the other’s reaction.
“Stay… Away? Why?”
“Are you seriously asking me that? You just experienced what happened!”
“I… Yeah, but–”
“So do yourself a favor and stay back, will you?” It was hard to say, it weighed a little heavier than the knight would have liked. But it was for the best. If the young woman suffers again then it would be all her fault, Eula’s fault. She couldn’t risk that. She couldn’t put Ann at risk in any way. She just couldn’t.
A moment of silence kicked in, nothing was said. Maybe that was the answer, the silence counting as acceptance. Maybe Ann had no words for this and had nodded behind the knight’s back, agreeing to this. She would be hesitant probably but if it was necessary then… Perhaps even she knows that it was for the—
“That’s not a reason for me to stay away, you know.” Ann suddenly responded however, around the same time when Eula felt a weight against her own back, then a pair of arms holding tightly onto her, as if preventing her to just walk off. The grasp was desperate, clinging onto her. Well, even a gentle touch could make her feel all sorts of things but having this desperation around her made it even worse, having her tremble in place.
“Not a reason!? I… I think that’s more than enough reason for you!” She even protested, not believing her ears. This girl was actually being serious here! For what!?
“No, it’s not.” Ann countered however. “If I have to be more careful from now on, then that’s fine. I can do that.”
What… What is she saying!? Is she out of her mind? “And why would you do that!? Don’t tell me you want to throw your life a—”
“It’s because I'm in love with you.” The brunette interrupted all of a sudden, silence once more kicking in. Eula herself was in a sudden shock, feeling herself warming up from this alone, her heart rate starting to increase at the worst possible time. Was this even the time for that!? This was not where the conversation should be headed! It was not! No, she cannot accept this! And yet, at least for some time she was left speechless, words stuck in her throat… Almost literally. She only started to speak up again when feeling the grip loosening, before completely letting go.
“Wait what!?” Was what came out of her mouth next while turning around, facing the other woman right in the dark. And the expression Eula could make out with the limited amount of light coming from the sky was… Something she had not expected. Usually she was used to seeing Ann as a nervous wreck, having to keep it together. And yet, her gaze was serious, facing her directly. Even if she looked embarrassed she didn’t turn away in the end. She dared not to.
“You heard me.” She said, just barely preventing her stuttering. A long break in between until she continued: “So… I refuse to stay back! Even if you tell me to for whatever reason!” There was no mistaking it, she was dead serious. Stubbornly so. Even when somewhat stuttering the last line: “W… Well, unless you don't feel the same.”
It was hard to react to that. Eula bit her lip, somewhat, growing more frustrated. Why is she making this so hard!? Why does it have to be this way!? This was not how this is supposed to go! This girl is stubborn beyond belief, isn’t she!? Making it so difficult in the end… “I.. That…” Eula tried to say yet was speechless in the end. It didn’t come out of her, not as she wanted. And she hated it. Why now!? Why—
“Haha, you probably don’t. Sorry, I must’ve sounded silly.” Ann continued however, her smile turning a little nervous. “I just wanted to let you know.”
Not feeling the same!? Wait, she never said—
“Maybe it is for the best then. My bad, it just overcame me all of a—”
“W… Wou… Would you shut up!?” Ugh, having to hear all of this… As if Eula could bear hearing that any longer! This was impossible, no matter how she looks at it. Especially knowing now! Oh how she wished she didn’t! This was ridiculous, pure hypocrisy and contradiction but she cannot help it at that point! Was it really that easy to sway her!? Possibly, at least the brunette had an easy time it seemed. So without a further explanation she suddenly grabbed Ann again, shoving her closer so that their bodies touched, both pressing against another, awfully close. Just like that time during the dance. And Eula was trying to keep her composure but it was insanely difficult. “I never said that I didn’t feel the same!”
“Huh!? But but but didn’t you just say to—”
“To keep you safe idiot!”
“R… Really!? Bu–”
“I just said so, didn’t I!? Why would I bother otherwise!?”
“Wait, so that means—”
“That’s what I wanted to talk to you about actually! I hate that you got a step ahead of me, now of all times…” This was just embarrassing. Were the two really having this conversation just now? Shortly after something so intense!? What nonsense was this!? A stupid romance novel!?
“Huh? W… Wait… So the times before—”
“Y… Yes! I love you too ok!?” Saying it now of all times… Of course it would be met with silence like this! Ah yeesh! Can’t she just sink to the ground now!? This was more embarrassing than she originally thought. And it took a while of begging in her mind. ‘Say something! Anything! Literally! Anything will do!’
Then again, nothing had been ‘said’ in the end but rather the gesture, feeling Ann’s grasp around her own waist again, as if unable to hold herself back. “R… Really? Really really!?” She even said, as if overjoyed from one moment to the next. Yeah, after that none of them would be able to let go it seems. Even if it was for the better, it may as well have become just flatout impossible now. Both of them are so close. having just said it all. The tension from earlier was almost forgotten at this point most likely. There was nothing else which had to be said, not much at least. Both were very clear and thus the hole had been dug. There was no escape out of it now if ever.
“Then I’m going to stay now! And there is nothing you can do about it!” Ann even said, still seeming to be very happy… The happiest she has probably been, or at least the happiest Eula had seen her.
“Hah… It’s impossible to reason with you, isn’t it?” The knight sighed, trying her best to hold back her redne— Wait no, doesn’t matter. It was probably too dark to see that. “F… Fine. Have it your way. I… I’ll make you pay me back for this somehow. D… Don’t think you’re off the hook for my vengeance!”
Then again, maybe Eula shouldn’t be complaining and secretly wasn’t… Perhaps this isn’t so bad after all.

– social worker who’s slowly moving into the medical field…
– never shies away from helping people; in fact, that is her downfall, that she wants to help everyone but can't
– tends to overwork herself between working on cases and visiting clients! baizhu shakes his head every time she comes home bc she literally looks like a dog panting + she's about to pass out
– shuying also is a relatively patient person – in the line of social work, however, she can get easily annoyed at her client's reluctance to become better, so that's something that she has to work with within herself bc she tends to think that shes a failure if she can't help them properly
– loves animals!!! but scared of animals bigger than her (hated going to sumeru)
– she's kind, affable and likeable :") i hesitated saying kind bc i feel like its an overused word but it really does describe her well LOL she gets along well with the uncles and aunties in liyue harbour!
– shuying hates seeing people left out, because she knows the pain of being a receipient. she tries to include everyone but #youcan'thelpeveryone is something that she's coming to terms with
– loves her mother's cooking, hates her father's cooking because it tastes like medicine but she never tells him that hehhehe
– cannot say anything bad about people to their face. she's 100% non-confrontational but is learning how to stand up for herself as well as voicing her feelings, esp when she's uncomfortable! she tends to sit in discomfort rather than let her feelings about something be known
– gets into fights with her mom sometimes because of their slightly contrasting views on monsters. jingli, her mom (finally, a name!!!) absolutely HATES them, but baizhu wants to teach shuying that not all of them are bad
– lives with the anxiety of saying something wrong to someone's face... she hates it. she can forgive herself, of course, but the embarrassing memory will always be there to remind her

Ei chapter 2 complete as well.
I actually started getting quite into it, to the point that I got really mad when we got to the last third or so. Once I'm invested, my annoyance at the writing also grows, haha.
Anyway, my opinion is not too different than when I played the first time, though I cared more about the first two thirds this time because I do kind of feel warmer toward Ei now. Ah, Miyuki Sawashiro...
But also, I stand by my opinion that Ei has the one and only fully presented character arc in all of Genshin (through the end of Sumeru, but I doubt Fontaine actually managed this either). We see where she starts, we learn why she believes as she does, we do a cool but meaningful thing to change her mind, we see her come to understand and change her perspective, then she shows the changes in her point of view and even does a cool thing to prove her new resolve. All the steps are there, properly displayed. Low bar, and yet.
Anyway, the first two thirds, up until the second fight with the Shogun, were at least fine, maybe even verging on good. (Yes, the act 1+2 issue still exists, but that's just something we have to ignore.) The issues really start in the last third.
There's a lot of comparatively small things, for example with the nature of the Shogun and how they address it (and also how long they take to address it, we did not need that many textboxes of Ei and the puppet patting each other on the back about how cool they both are), plus stuff like Makoto's ghost appearing at the end (Ei already resolved herself, she doesn't need this?? and it's just the Rukkhadevata thing again?? do you guys only have this many ideas to work with...). But the biggest issue that I just cannot get over and which really ruins the entire quest for me is the goddamn Lore.
Genshin in general tends to be Really Bad at integrating their long term Lore(tm) into the ongoing storylines. That's why all the stuff with the visions is so forced in Inazuma and in the Chasm. They needed to shove it in as 4shadowing for lore stuff we haven't reached yet, but they're not capable of doing it smoothly. You get the same issue with the Sakura.
There is no reason, at all, for the Sakura to have been in-universe retconned into existence. You could do the entire quest and all of Inazuma with the premise that the Sakura grew immediately when Ei returned from Khaenri'ah 500 years ago and not god knows when in the past, and NOTHING would change. Just say it sprouted from her sister's consciousness out of the wish to help her and protect Inazuma from beyond the grave, right there and then. That's fine! It's enough!
But you see, they need to namedrop Ishtaroth.
So we get this convoluted mess with the whole "time is uncertain" and the retconning. Which, incidentally, they don't seem to understand why that kind of story aspect would be used... Ei returned to the exact same nation she left behind, seemingly with NO difference whether or not the Sakura existed for those millennia. Scaramouche erased himself, Rukkha erased herself, and yet there are NO changes in the world state except some names in historical records. So why do it?? And it's not like we are there for those historical events and seeing the changes to them in the past either?? So this is all just pointless. Everyone's existence is pointless, since whether or not they're there makes no difference at all... what the heck is this...
Anyway, the last third combines the issue of the dragged out Shogun confrontation, the magic tree retcon nonsense, and Makoto's pointless "all according to keikaku" cameo, making is extremely weak and ruining the impact of the otherwise fairly good earlier sections.
But at least we're finally rid of the storm and Sakoku. Inazuma is almost done...

The Men Who Worry a Lot
Pairings: Various Genshin Men x Isekai'd!Reader
Summary: Ever since you got pregnant, the men have been worrying about you and the baby. Your hunger skyrocketed, your hormones are all over the place, and your immune system is weaker and cannot fight off infections as much as it could before you were pregnant. You sometimes wander off alone when you’re out of the abode with the men. Can you really blame the men for worrying so much about you while you’re heavily pregnant?
Note: This is a spin-off to Mixed Signals and Eating for Two! I will be linking the two fics mentioned down below if you want to read Mixed Signals and Eating for Two first before reading this spin-off! ^^ If you're all interested in the whole parent life with the Genshin men, I can make mini-fics for it or answer asks that relate to the overall pregnancy universe of my isekai'd!reader fics. As previously stated in "Mixed Signals" and "Eating for Two | Mixed Signals Alt. Ending," this story does lean towards female!reader/AFAB!reader because pregnancy does happen in this story. Anyway! Please keep in mind that I don't post anywhere else but on Tumblr (Genshinluvr) and on AO3 (Aaliah_exo).
Warnings: Pregnancy, and sickness.
Word Count: 8.4k
Read the original and alternate ending here: Mixed Signals, Eating for Two | Mixed Signals Alt. Ending.
You’re eight months pregnant. Your pregnant belly is huge, and you look like you could pop at any moment, and that worries the twenty-five men. When you walk, you waddle, and you look so freaking cute! Your hand is on your baby bump every time you walk, sit, stand, and when you’re lying in bed. Most of the time, you ditch your usual clothes for the men’s button-up shirts, keeping the top half buttoned and the bottom half unbuttoned, letting your pregnant belly peek from the fabrics.
Being pregnant is uncomfortable, and you (and the twenty-five men) have to do everything to make sure you have a safe, comfortable, and stress-free pregnancy. Other than your and the twenty-five men’s baby being spoiled, you’re also being spoiled. It’s not like you don’t know who’s the father of your baby—well, technically, you don’t because all of you haven’t taken the paternity test yet.
It was in the middle of the night, and Diluc was rudely awoken by a bad feeling in his gut. Diluc rushes to get out of bed and open the door. Diluc steps into the dark hallway, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, and flicks the upstairs lights on. Lights flood the second floor, and he walks to your bedroom. Diluc cracks the door open and peeks his head into your dark room, only to see that your bed is empty and there’s no sign of you in the room.
Panic starts to kick in, and Diluc turns around to begin searching for you immediately.
“Honey?” Diluc calls out, walking around the upper part of the estate, searching for you— his heavily pregnant partner.
Sure, Diluc can wake the others to help him search for you, but Diluc cannot think rationally when he’s busy panicking and still groggy from his sleep. Doors on the second floor start to open, footsteps getting close to where he’s wandering around.
Thoma rubs his eyes, yawning. “Why are you awake at this time?” Thoma mutters, stretching his arms in the air with a groan.
Gorou peeks into your dark bedroom, his ears twitching. “I hear rustling downstairs. Maybe [Y/N] is downstairs snacking,” Gorou comments.
Tighnari sighs and runs his fingers through his messy hair. “I hope that’s not the case. They’re messing up their sleep and eating schedule,” Tighnari sighs.
One by one, the men walk down the stairs to the pitch-black living room. A source of light peeks from the kitchen, light spilling from the gap at the bottom of the door. You are indeed in the kitchen. Dainsleif walks toward the door and pushes it open, revealing you rummaging through the pantry. Your hair is sticking all over the place, your eyes are puffy from sleep, and your clothes are wrinkled.
Dainsleif sighs and leans against the door frame of the kitchen. “Why are you awake at this time?” Dainsleif asks.
You jump and look at the men like a deer caught in headlights. You drop a bread roll on the ground and mouth “fuck” to yourself. You attempt to lean down to grab the bread roll, but your eight-month-pregnant belly is in the way. You kick the bread roll back into the pantry and cross your arms over your chest.
“I, uh, was checking to make sure the bread rolls are still good to eat!” You lie, giving the men a fake smile.
Ayato takes a step toward you, looking at you with amusement. The corners of Ayato’s lips quirk up, taking in the sight of your adorable figure. You look so cute! Ayato just wants to pinch your cheeks and suffocate you in his arms by hugging you tightly until you pop.
“You had the sudden urge to make sure the bread rolls weren’t expired and molding in the middle of the night?” Ayato asks, tilting his head while gazing at you with the softest look you have ever seen.
You blush and look away with a huff. “Of course! Have you guys never had that moment where you’re sleeping or minding your business, and all of a sudden, you start to wonder if certain things are expired or if you still have the shirt you wore a few years ago?” You ask, tapping your sock-clad feet on the ground.
Itto eyes widen, and he nods eagerly. “Oh my gosh, yes! All the time! I thought it was just me, but it’s good to know that I’m not the only one this happens to!” Itto exclaims.
Xiao rolls his eyes and thwacks Itto upside of his head. Itto winces before rubbing the back of his head and glaring down at Xiao with a pout. You press your lips into a thin line to prevent yourself from laughing.
Baizhu smiles at you. “We need to talk about you waking up in the middle of the night to snack on something,”  Baizhu says.
You look at Baizhu in disbelief. “Again?” You squeak.
Scaramouche sighs. “We wouldn’t have to talk to you about your late-night snacking if you stopped doing it,” Scaramouche says, pinching the bridge of his nose.
Ayato holds his arm out for you to take. You pucker your lips, turn the pantry light off and close the door behind you. You loop your arms around Ayato’s arm and let him escort you to the living room. Ayato flickers the living room light on. You squeeze your eyes shut when the light fills the living area.
“I think turning on a lamp would’ve been better,” you mutter, sitting on the couch after Ayato leads you to the sofa in the center of the living room.
Everyone sits around you and gazes at you intently. You feel yourself becoming flustered under their gazes and reach for a throw blanket blindly. You wrap the blanket around your shoulders before placing your hands on your swollen tummy. You’re still craving a snack and can feel your stomach rumbling.
Al Haitham sits beside you and places a hand over yours, giving your hand a gentle squeeze. “You know it's not good to get less than eight hours of sleep, correct? You’re pregnant, and you need plenty of rest,” Al Haitham says, combing his fingers through your bedhead.
You sigh and lean forward, resting your head on Al Haitham’s chest, and close your eyes. “All I’ve been doing throughout my pregnancy is rest, Al Haitham. Plus, you guys know my cravings have increased ever since I got pregnant! I can’t help it,” you reply.
Kaveh sits on your left, rubbing your back. “We’re not upset that you’re having cravings. We’re worried about your and the baby’s safety. You wandered downstairs for a snack in pitch darkness. You could’ve tripped and fallen down the stairs, hurting yourself and the baby,” Kaveh murmurs, pulling you from Al Haitham’s chest and to his chest.
You sigh and press your head against Kaveh’s chest, listening to his heart beating against his chest. Kaveh runs his fingers through your hair, untangling the knots and organizing your hair. They’re not wrong about that. You did wake up in the middle of the night and wandered down the stairs in the darkness, searching for something to snack on for you and the baby.
“You’re right, and it’s my bad for not waking anyone up before going down the stairs for a snack. Sometimes I forget that I’m pregnant, even though this thing,” you point at your swollen tummy, “gets in the way all the time.”
Kaeya pokes your belly button, causing you to jolt and lightly slap his hands away with a tiny glare. Kaeya chuckles and kneels before you, resting his head on your lap, and reaches for your hand. Kaeya gazes up at you and closes his eyes when he feels you brush his hair away from his face. Archons, he’s so beautiful.
“What do you want to do now, angel? Do you want to go back to bed, or are you still craving something to eat?” Kaeya asks, slowly opening his eyes and staring at you intently.
You drag out a sigh and close your eyes. “I really want to go back to bed, but if I do, this little one will be kicking me all night until I eat something,” you reply.
“Stay here and take a nap. One of us will make you something to eat,” you hear Aether say.
Aether did not have to tell you twice because you were already dozing off on Kaveh’s shoulders, your hand remaining on Kaeya’s head. While you were napping against Kaveh’s chest and one of the men was making a snack for you to eat, you felt the baby kick. You open your eyes and press your hands against your stomach, grumbling about how the baby wasn’t letting you get a few minutes of shut-eye without kicking you.
A few minutes later, Heizou walks into the living room with what looks like mini French toast. Your eyes light up, and you reach forward, making grabby motions. Heizou hands you the plate, and you mouth a “thank you” to Heizou before taking a bite out of the delicious toast.
“That has a lot of sugar and syrup on it. It’s going to keep [Y/N] and the baby up all night,” Xiao commented, eyeing the sugary snack you’re biting into.
Heizou shrugs his shoulders. “Listen, I’m here to please the pregnant person and the baby in the womb. Whatever they want, they get,” Heizou replies, propping his hands on his hips.
The snack satiates your hunger, and after finishing the entire plate, you struggle to get off the couch. Venti giggles and reaches for your hand, helping you get off the couch. You sigh in relief and thank Venti, rubbing your swollen belly with one hand while grasping the plate with the other.
Venti looked at you curiously when you waddled off to the kitchen. “Where are you going, Windblume? The stairs are the other way, silly!” Venti calls after you.
You reply over your shoulder, “I’m going to wash the plate, then I’ll go back to bed!”
Childe runs to where you are and takes the plate from your hands while shaking his head. You blink at Childe owlishly before realizing you’re not allowed to do any household chores until way after you pop the baby out. Ah, right, how could you forget something like that?
Childe wraps an arm around your shoulders and kisses your forehead. “Don’t worry your pretty little head about chores. We’ll take care of everything for you, like how we have been since the beginning of your pregnancy. Get some sleep, alright, snookums?” Childe coos, resting his cheek on your head.
“Alright, alright. I’ll go to bed now that I have something to snack on for the baby and me,” you said, rubbing your swollen stomach.
Childe smiles wide and pats your head. Childe looks over your head and gestures for one of the men to take you up the stairs. Zhongli walks toward you and Childe, wrapping an arm around your waist and holding your hand. Zhongli guides you up the stairs with the men following behind. Ever since your pregnancy was announced, the men made sure to put a rug over the staircase to prevent you from slipping down the stairs.
Upon arriving in your bedroom, Zhongli turns the lights on. Zhongli walks you to your bed and helps you sit on your bed before tucking you in bed. You would brush your teeth again, but you’re too tired to do it, and it’s already late. Zhongli caresses your face and presses a kiss on your forehead. You reach for Zhongli’s hand and squeeze them, pulling him down and planting a good night’s kiss on his cheek. Knowing the other men are going to complain, Zhongli moves out of the way for the others to kiss you goodnight so you can kiss them goodnight in return. After what felt like fifteen minutes, you were able to bid everyone goodnight.
Zhongli is the last person to leave your room. “Get some rest, alright? Wake us up if you need anything at all or anything happened,” Zhongli instructs.
You nod and give him a thumbs up, too tired to respond. Once Zhongli turns the lights off in your room and closes the door behind him, you snuggle against your pregnancy pillow and close your eyes, drifting off to sleep.
The men worry about you a lot, and they have many valid reasons to worry! While your late-night snacking has become routine to the point where the men will automatically wake up if they hear your bedroom door open (they trained their ears to listen for it). The previous night when Diluc searched for you in the middle of the night, was the only time the men didn’t hear you leave your room until they heard Diluc calling out for you.
They keep an eye out for you almost 24/7, and you love them for it. Sometimes they can get distracted, and that’s okay! Only this time, they may or may not have lost their pregnant significant other while the twenty-six of you were in Inazuma City. The men are crowding around a food stall, trying to decide what to order to bring back to the estate to eat. While you and the twenty-five men can dine out in the city, they worry the number of people would overwhelm you. Especially if those people are constantly staring at your pregnant form while you’re eating, and they treat you like fine porcelain.
Now here you are, standing behind the group of men, rubbing your swollen belly and breathing in the aroma of delicious food lingering in the air. Your stomach is growling, and the baby is lively today, kicking and moving around in the womb.
“Are you sure a pregnant person like [Y/N] should be eating something like that?” Kazuha asks, eyeing the menu warily.
Albedo looks at the menu and nods. “The food is fully cooked. As long as it’s not seafood or raw meat. There are many things pregnant people are not allowed to eat, and I brought a list with me,” Albedo says, pulling out the long list of foods you’re allowed and not allowed to eat.
“It feels restricting, does it not?” Cyno asks, raising his eyebrows at Albedo.
Dottore nods his head, flipping through the menu. “Sadly, it’s the reality of being pregnant. Even if [Y/N] can eat these things just fine, the baby will not be able to handle foods like the ones listed,” replies Dottore.
Your mouth started watering. Not wanting to wait any longer, you turn around and search around for a food stall to order food from. You lock gazes with the vendor of the nearest food stand. Well, it looks more like a snack stand than a food stand. You waddle off to the snack vendor, and the man gives you a sweet smile after seeing your pregnant belly bulging through your shirt.
You smile at Tomoki and point at the Dango milk. “May I have a Dango milk, Tomoki?” You ask politely.
Tomoki nods. “Of course! Do you want one or two Dango milk?” asks Tomoki, reaching for the black bottle.
You hum and tap on your chin, debating whether you should get one or two Dango milk. Dango milk is delicious, and you can never get enough of it! Although your beloved boyfriends are currently ordering food to bring to the estate, it’s best you buy only one Dango milk, or else you’d lose your appetite. Plus, not only did you want to save your appetite for food, one Dango milk costs one thousand five hundred Mora, and if you were to buy two Dango milk, it would’ve been three thousand Mora.
“I’ll take one Dango milk! I haven’t eaten anything yet, and I don’t want the Dango milk to make me lose my appetite,” you said.
Tomoki smiles and nods. “Alright! One Dango milk it is!” He says, handing the bottle over to you after you pulled out exactly one thousand five hundred Mora from the Mora bag in your pocket.
You give Tomoki a thankful smile before walking off with your Dango milk, occupied with getting the bottle uncapped so you can start drinking it. While you’re struggling to get the cap off, Pantalone takes the menu from one of the men’s hands and turns to ask you what you want to eat, but realizes that you aren’t with the group. Pantalone stared at the spot where you were standing and turned to the other men, scratching the back of his neck.
Pantalone clears his throat. “Um, we have a problem,” Pantalone says nervously.
“They wandered off, didn’t they?” Capitano deadpans.
Pantalone nodded hesitantly, and the twenty-four men slowly turned to where you were supposed to be standing, only to see an empty spot. Pierro sighs, pinching the space between his eyebrows, and closes his eyes. There’s no way they lost you in the city this fast. You, a heavily pregnant person, somehow wandered off without either of them noticing you waddling away.
“I’m sure they didn’t wander off too far,” Pierro says, looking up and scanning his surroundings.
While the men are searching for you, you stand in the middle of the walkway, uncapping the Dango milk. After a few minutes of struggling to open the cap, you finally got it off and took a sip from it happily. The Dango milk is sweet, delicious, and chewy. It’s like boba, only it’s Dango. You’re tempted to return to Tomoki’s snack stand to ask for ingredients. Still, you’re not entirely sure if Tomoki would be willing to share the ingredients or tell you how to make it at home.
You shrug your shoulders and walk back to where the men are currently standing. You tap Kaeya on the shoulders.
“Have you guys figured out what you’re going to order yet?” You ask, taking another sip of the Dango milk.
Damn. Ever since you got the first taste of the Dango milk, you’ve been obsessed with it. Well, you are even more obsessed with it than you previously were. Maybe the baby likes Dango milk too and couldn’t get enough of it, thus making your craving for Dango milk stronger than ever.
Kaeya sighs in relief and pulls you into his arms, disregarding the Dango milk in your hands and running his hands gloved through your hair. “Please don’t wander off like that anymore, kitten. You made us all worried!” Kaeya chides, stroking your chin.
“Sorry, I wanted to get something to drink while all of you are ordering something to bring back to the abode for us to eat,” you said, holding up the Dango milk bottle.
Scaramouche sighs and shakes his head. “Idiot. Dango milk is going to make you lose your appetite if you continue to drink it,” Scaramouche tsk’s and flicks your forehead.
You scrunch your face and rub the area on your forehead where Scaramouche had flicked you. Al Haitham grabs Scaramouche’s finger and glares at the shorter male, who glares at him in return. Scaramouche snatches his finger from Al Haitham’s grasp and crosses his arms over his chest, and rolls his eyes.
“Baby, please don’t wander off like that again. At least inform us before wandering off, or have one of us go with you somewhere,” Al Haitham says, combing his fingers through your hair.
You point at Tomoki’s stall. “But the stall wasn’t far from where you’re all ordering the food! It’s about ten feet,” you protest, taking another sip of your Dango milk. You close the bottle and wipe your lips with your thumb and index finger. “Sorry for not informing you all about it. I kept forgetting that I can’t wander off on my own anymore, especially since my stomach makes me look like a sunset cloud angler,” you said, rubbing your swollen belly with one hand.
Ayato holds up an index finger and sighs. “You can wander off on your own as long as you tell us where you’re going and as long as it’s not too far from where we are,” Ayato comments.
You rest your head on Kaeya’s chest and look at the menu hanging above. You’re not entirely sure what you’re going to get since you have a restricting diet due to your pregnancy. Most of the time, Thoma cooks certain food for you to eat. Albedo, Dottore, Baizhu, and Tighnari would write a long list of foods you can and cannot eat, including ingredients for the food. But since you’re all ordering something at a restaurant to bring it back to the estate to eat, you’re not sure if you can eat the food on the menu.
“I’ll try not to forget to tell you all where I’m going before wandering off,” you reply, holding your pinky out in Ayato’s direction.
Ayato sighs, giving you a small smile before linking his pinky with yours. Ayato brings your hand close to his lips and presses a kiss on your knuckles before letting go of your hand. You snuggle up against Kaeya, continuing to look at the menu. Of all the food that is being sold on the menu, you’re not sure what you want to order. Plus, your pregnancy has made you not want to eat certain things like tofu.
Before you got pregnant, you could eat anything (except for the foods you’re allergic to). But now, your pregnancy has made it hard for you to eat the food you used to love. You used to love eating anything that had onions in it. Unfortunately, now the smell of onions (specifically pickled onions) makes you feel nauseous, and you hate it. Your parents would make you pickled onions back in your world, and you love fermented foods.
“I kind of want kimchi,” you mumble, squishing your cheek against Kaeya’s boob window.
Dainsleif looks at you quizzically. “What’s that?” Dainsleif asks.
You reach out and grab Dainsleif’s hand, lightly squeezing them. “I’ll explain what kimchi is when we’re back at the abode. It’s great to eat when pregnant, apparently,” you reply.
Ever since you have gotten pregnant, you have been attending classes here and there at the Akademiya. That was before you were starting to show. Since you are currently pregnant, you took a break from your academics and focused on your pregnancy. You didn’t want to put your studies on hold, but since you get stressed out easily, you had to take a break because of doctor’s orders and Al Haitham requested for you to take a break from your academics until further notice.
Now here you are, baking cookies when you’re not supposed to be in the kitchen. Tiny little hands grab at your shirt, tugging on them while peeking at the cookies laid out on the countertop.
“Hey, be careful! We wouldn’t want you to burn your hands on the hot baking tray now, do we?” You ask.
Klee pouts and steps on the stepping stool, breathing in the scent of freshly baked cookies. “It smells so delicious, [Y/N]! When can we start eating the cookies?” asks Klee, licking her lips while eyeing the chocolate chip cookies in front of her.
“Once the cookies are warm and not ten seconds fresh out of the oven. It’s still hot,” you said, patting Klee’s head.
You’re now babysitting the kids your beloved boyfriends know. Technically, you volunteered to watch over them while the men were out doing their duties in Teyvat. Since you don’t have Akademiya responsibilities, you might as well keep yourself occupied by babysitting Klee, Diona, YaoYao, Nahida (would she count as a kid despite her being an archon?), Dori, Qiqi, and Sayu.
“Are these the soft chocolate chip cookies?” Dori asks, peeking at the counter to get a good look at the cookies.
Nahida props her hands on her hips. “From my knowledge, with the ingredients [Y/N] used and how long the cookies have been in the oven, it should be soft instead of crunchy,” Nahida replies.
You grab the cups from the cupboard and hand them cups. “Go sit at the table. I’ll get some milk, and we’ll wait a few minutes for the cookies to cool down before eating them,” you said.
The girls rush out of the kitchen and sit at the table, kicking their feet with excitement while giggling and chatting with each other. While you’re setting the timer and putting the next batch of cookies in the oven, the front door to the estate opens, and the men start piling into the estate.
Klee’s eyes light up when she sees Albedo. Klee hops off the chair and runs to the chief alchemist, tackling him into a hug. Albedo stumbles back and looks at Klee with surprise.
“Big brother! You’re finally back!” Klee cheers, smiling wide.
“What are you girls doing here? I mean, not that I didn’t want to see you, I’m surprised to see you girls here at the estate,” Albedo says, turning to look at the men with a questioning look.
Dori’s eyes widen before she giggles. “Oh? Did your pregnant lover not tell you that they’re babysitting us from now on? Well, until the baby arrives, of course,” Dori says, leaning in the chair.
Zhongli crosses his arms over his chest. “They have not. Speaking of pregnant lover, where is [Y/N]?”
The seven girls point at the kitchen simultaneously, gazing at the men curiously. One by one, each man pats the girls’ heads as they walk toward the kitchen where you’re at. After putting the second batch of cookies in the oven, you close the oven and set the timer. The kitchen door creaks open, and you look up to see your beloved boyfriends standing there with their hands on their hips while giving you questioning looks.
“Since when did you start your babysitting gig?” Cyno asks, raising an eyebrow at you.
You walk to the cookies on the cooling tray and hover your hand above it. “I started today, actually! Since I currently don’t have responsibilities, I decided to babysit the seven girls until further notice!” You reply.
“Are you going to babysit them every day? Some of them have jobs, which concerns me because it’s child labor….” Kaveh trails off, stroking his chin.
You shake your head and lean against the kitchen island, caressing your baby bump. “Not every day, only when I have the energy to. The baby’s been keeping me up at night sometimes by moving around and kicking my stomach,” you sigh.
Childe drops to his knees and places his hands on your baby bump, and presses his face against your swollen stomach. “Baby, please let your mommy sleep. If mommy doesn’t sleep, they won’t have the energy. Don’t kick mommy either!” Childe scolds your unborn child.
“As if the baby is going to understand you,” Diluc scoffs, rolling his eyes.
The baby kicks, startling you and Childe. Childe slowly backs away and rubs his nose, narrowing his eyes at your stomach and poking your swollen belly back. The baby kicks in return. You groan and press your hand on the area where the baby had kicked. You flick Childe’s forehead before Childe can provoke the baby again.
“Don’t try to provoke them, Childe!” You chide, poking the cookie on the cooling rack with your index finger.
You grab a plate from the side and start putting the cookies on the plate. The cookies are still warm, but it’s not hot, nor is it cooled down completely. Childe stands behind you, wraps his arms around your waist, and buries his face into your neck. You snort, watching Childe peek from your shoulders, reach for a cookie from the plate, and take it from the plate.
“Girls! The cookies are ready!” You announce, walking to the dining room where the girls are waiting, with Childe latching onto you.
You put the plate on the table, and the seven girls begin taking a cookie from the plate to snack on. Thoma walks over to the table with milk in his hands, pouring the milk into each girl’s glass cup. The girls simultaneously thanked you and Thoma with their mouths full of cookies. You snort and wipe the crumbs from the side of their lips.
“Slow down! Don’t eat too fast, or else you’ll choke,” you sigh, shaking your head.
Heizou nudges Aether. “If this is what married life looks like with [Y/N], then sign me up!” Heizou whispers, feeling his cheeks warm up when he watches Sayu hug your side, her cheek pressing up against your pregnant belly while munching on her cookie. You comb your fingers through Sayu and Qiqi’s hair while the girls eat the chocolate chip cookies.
“You’re going to have to get in line there, Heizou. All of us want to get married to [Y/N] and have a family with them,” Aether whispers, taking a chocolate chip cookie from the plate and taking a big bite out of the cookie.
Qiqi lightly taps your pregnant belly. You look to see Qiqi holding up her empty glass cup with a blank look on her face. Realization hits you after a minute, and you take the cup from Qiqi’s hand to fill the cup with milk. Before you can walk to the kitchen to fill her cup with milk, Venti takes the cup from your hands.
“I’ll do that for you! You go sit and relax! Remember not to strain yourself,” Venti says, lightly tapping on your nose before walking to the kitchen.
The minute you sit on the chair between the seven girls, they immediately start trying to get your attention to talk about the most random things (to the men). Sayu and Qiqi continue to latch to you while eating their cookies while Nahida, Dori, Diona, Klee, and YaoYao are talking your ears off.
“[Y/N]! Are you having a boy or a girl? I hope you’re having a girl!” YaoYao says, bouncing on the balls of her feet with a wide smile.
“I think the baby is going to be a boy,” Sayu drones, staring off into space while mindlessly chewing on the chocolate chip cookie.
Nahida looks at Sayu curiously and walks over to the sleepy girl, poking her to grab her attention. Sayu wipes the sleepiness from her eyes and turns to look at Nahida with a questioning look. Nahida props her hands on her hips and tilts her head to the side, her green eyes trailing over to your pregnant belly. Nahida presses her hand on your stomach, and her eyes light up when she feels the baby kick the area where Nahida is pressing her hand.
Nahida clears her throat. “I’m curious what lead you to think [Y/N] is pregnant with a boy,” Nahida says, blinking at Sayu.
“Their stomach is round from the front and slim from the side. I don’t know how to explain it, but that’s what my mom told me,” Sayu replies.
“I think [Y/N] is going to have a boy, too,” Qiqi says softly, rubbing your swollen stomach.
Diona looks at you curiously. “Do you know the gender of the baby?” Diona asks.
You shake your head and run your fingers through Qiqi’s hair. “I don’t know the gender of the baby. I debated whether I wanted to keep it a surprise until I go into labor, but there are some people that wanted to know already,” you say, looking over at the men.
Kazuha smiles and crosses his arms over his chest, raising an eyebrow at you. “Is it bad the father(s) of the baby wanted to know the gender of their child?” Kazuha asks.
You clear your throat and scratch the back of your head. “No! But the twenty-five of you are giving me conflicting answers! Some of you want to know the gender of the baby, and some of you want to be surprised!” You huff, crossing your arms over your chest.
“I have an idea! For those who want to know the gender of the baby, tell them! As for the others,  they can wait until you give birth!” Itto proposes, clapping his hands.
Dori reaches for the cookie and hands it to you. You silently thanked the girl and took a bite out of the cookie, and contemplated Itto’s suggestion. You know, that doesn’t sound like a bad idea. But the issue is that some of the men have loose lips. Meaning they cannot keep a secret, or they will find a way to accidentally reveal the gender of the baby. You pucker your lips and shake your head in response to Itto’s suggestion. Itto pouts and crosses his arms over his chest with a huff like a petulant child.
“I would tell you not to reproduce, but the unfortunate thing is that we don’t know who’s the father of the baby,” Dottore says, smacking his lips.
Diluc rolls his eyes. “I could say the same thing for you, Harbinger,” Diluc mutters.
You assumed your pregnancy was going to be smooth sailing. No complications, no morning sickness, etc. But unfortunately for you, you have a cold. It’s not the flu, thankfully! But you did catch a cold, and now you’re under twenty-four-hour surveillance. Usually, you would think it’s a bit much to be under constant supervision, but since you’re pregnant, the men’s concerns are valid.
“How are you feeling?” Xiao asks, pressing his gloveless hand against your forehead.
You turn your head away and cough into your elbow— even though you’re wearing a face mask. “I feel awful. This sickness is making my morning sickness even worse, too,” you sniffled. You look at Baizhu and rub your swollen belly worriedly. “How’s the baby?” You ask, clearing your throat.
Baizhu sits at the edge of your bed and smiles beneath his mask. “The baby is healthy and safe. You, however, have a head cold and need plenty of rest,” Baizhu replies.
Baizhu reaches for your hand and gives them a gentle squeeze. You sniffled and smiled at him weakly, squeezing his hand in return. You had the unfortunate fate of babysitting a sick Klee. You didn’t mind taking care of Klee while she was ill, but you kept forgetting that the children in Teyvat are still children whether they have visions or not. Klee got you sick, and thankfully, it’s only a head cold, not the flu.
A knock at the door pulls you from your thoughts. Tighnari walks to the door and opens it, revealing Thoma with a food tray in his hands while wearing a face mask. Oh goody, your food is here! You can smell the food behind your mask, feeling your stomach grumble at the delicious smell.
“I have arrived with soup! It’s chicken noodle soup; simple, but should be enough for you and the baby to stomach without an issue,” says Thoma, entering your bedroom.
You take your mask off and, with the assistance of Xiao and Baizhu, sit up. You put your mask on your nightstand while Thoma places the tray of chicken noodle soup on your lap. Your head is hurting, and you don’t think you have enough energy to lift your hands to use the spoon. You feel like you could collapse at any moment. Gorou quickly sits beside you and have you rest your head on his shoulders while he combs his fingers through your hair.
You close your eyes, exhaling through your nose. You hate being sick, and you hate being sick while you’re pregnant. It makes everything worse, and it makes all twenty-five of your boyfriends even more worried about you.
Gorou rubs your swollen belly while combing his fingers through your hair. “Are you alright? If you’re not hungry, you can eat your soup later,” Gorou suggests, kissing the side of your head.
You and Gorou feel the baby kick in response. You chuckle and crack your eyes open, rubbing your belly.
“The baby has spoken. It seems like this little bean wants me to eat,” you murmur.
You reach for the spoon and scoop the chicken noodle soup into the spoon, bringing it to your lips and blowing on the hot broth. The chicken noodle soup smells amazing. So good that your stomach starts to rumble with hunger. After the first bite of the soup, you begin devouring the soup like you haven’t eaten in days. Well, your devouring food like that is normal since you’ve been doing that since the start of your pregnancy.
Fifteen minutes later, you finished your food and leaned against the headboard of your bed, rubbing your full belly. You and the baby are officially satisfied; both tummies are full and satisfied. You tilt your head back and close your eyes, slowly leaning on Gorou’s shoulders while he continues to rub your arm.
“Ah, ah, ah! Don’t fall asleep yet! You still need to take your medication,” Tighnari says, standing at the edge of the bed and poking you in the arm.
You crack your eyes open and see Tighnari holding out cold medicine toward you. Your face immediately pinches up with disgust when you realize it's liquid medicine. To be more specific, it’s orange flavored, and you hate medicine that tastes like orange. You reluctantly take the medication from Tighnari’s hand and stare at the orange liquid medicine. You pinch your nose and down the cold medicine, your lips trembling at the sour taste while your face scrunches with disgust.
Pantalone sits on the other side of you and hands the small measurement cup to Tighnari. He grabs the glass cup from your nightstand and passes them to you. You give Pantalone a strained smile and take big gulps of water, hoping to wash the taste of orange-flavored medicine from your taste buds.
“How are you feeling right now, sweetheart?” Pantalone asks, wrapping his arms around your waist and kissing your jaws.
You hum in response, basking in Pantalone’s affections. “I’m feeling full, but the taste of the orange medicine is disgusting. It sort of made my stomach churn a bit after I ingested the medicine,” you reply, your nose scrunching with disgust.
“Now that you have eaten and taken your medication, you should get some sleep now. You look exhausted, and we shouldn’t be keeping you up any longer,” Capitano says gruffly.
You frown and reach for your face mask behind Pantalone and put it on. “What if I’m not feeling sleepy? It’s boring being in my room all day and having to sleep for who knows how long,” you said.
“You say that now, but once your head hits the pillow, you’ll be out like a light,” Pierro comments, the corners of his lips quirking up.
You stare at the first Harbinger for a moment before snuggling up against Pantalone, bringing Gorou with you. Gorou rests his head on your chest, making sure to be gentle. He wraps his arms around your waist, trying his best to ignore Pantalone’s arms around your waist. The day has just begun, yet here you are, bedridden and forced to rest. Why do you have to rest a lot? What if you’re feeling restless or full of energy? Actually, sike, you’re never full of energy because being pregnant is draining, and you feel more like an incubator than a human sometimes.
You’re excited to be a parent, yes, but often times there are people that treat you like a breeding cow rather than a human. Your boyfriends never make comments like that, but it’s the way random men (and sometimes women) in Teyvat would make comments about you being an incubator for the twenty-five men, and not only is it disturbing, but it also makes you feel uncomfortable.
Scaramouche plops at the edge of your bed, staring at you worriedly. “What’s on your mind?” He asks, nudging you with his foot.
“Do you guys see me as an incubator?” You ask, looking around the room.
Kaveh raises his eyebrows at you. “Why would we see you that way? You’re human, not some breeding sumpter beast,” Kaveh replies, crossing his arms over his chest.
“We want to start a family with you, yes, but we’re not going to get you pregnant every time you pop a baby out. Your body changes drastically when you’re pregnant, and we don’t want you to get pregnant twenty-four more times after the first baby is born. You need a break from pregnancy. We won’t make you pop a baby out for each of us. That would be weird,” Cyno answers, sighing softly.
Pantalone presses a kiss on your head. “Who put those thoughts into your head? Name them, and we’ll take care of it,” Pantalone murmurs, rubbing your swollen stomach.
You puff your cheeks out and shake your head. “Just a bunch of randoms in Teyvat. I don’t know their names, unfortunately.” You whisper, chewing on the inside of your cheeks.
“Describe their physical appearance and what region you were in when you encountered them! Shouldn’t be hard for us to track them down,” Childe says, giving you a fake smile while cracking his knuckles.
You shake your head again. “Not going to happen, Childe. I don’t want you to get in trouble before the baby is born,” you said, stroking your swollen belly mindlessly.
Childe opens his mouth to retort, but you shake your head for the umpteenth time. “Drop it, Ajax. I’m serious; this is for everyone in the room, not just Childe. Understood?”
“Oooh. Not the real name,” Itto whispers, making a ‘yikes’ face.
You give the men a look.
“Understood,” the men reply simultaneously, nodding in response.
You take a deep breath and run your fingers through your hair. Archons, this is embarrassing. You hate being strict or acting this way with the twenty-five men. Your emotions are all over the place because of your pregnancy, but the men understand. They never get upset with you when you snap at them unintentionally. They know it’s because of your hormones and the changes going on with your body that is making you feel overwhelmed and stressed.
You let out a shaky sigh. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to be so strict and firm about this. I understand you all want to protect me and make me feel comfortable with my body while I’m pregnant. Still, I don’t want any of you to get in trouble with the law before the baby is born,” you whisper.
Itto opens his mouth to reply, but you quickly cut him off. “Or in general,” you add.
Itto closes his mouth with a pout. Diluc rolls his eyes at Itto’s reaction and gives you a small smile.
“There’s nothing to apologize for, [Y/N]. We understand where you’re coming from. We promise this pregnancy will be smooth and stress-free, but some of us,” Diluc looks at Childe and Itto with a pointed look, “are hard-headed.”
“Don’t forget that things aren’t always going to turn out how you plan for them to go,” Gorou adds, leaning up to kiss the side of your head.
Your sickness lasted a few days, and as time flew by, you found yourself in your ninth month of pregnancy. You and the men are anticipating your labor, and you’re very nervous, but perhaps not as nervous as the men. You’re very tired, and your body is under a lot of strain than it was when your pregnancy first began. You also have a hard time holding in your pee, so you’re always going to the bathroom. You’re pretty sure the baby once kicked your bladder, almost making you pee your pants.
You step out of the bathroom, clutching your giant pregnant belly. “This is so embarrassing,” You grumble, walking past the men to toss your shorts and underwear into the washing machine. “This is the fifth time I peed my pants, all because this baby kicked my bladder and because I’ve had a hard time holding in my pee,” you grumble.
Kaeya ruffles your hair and kisses your head. “Hey, it’s okay. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about. I heard it happens to pregnant people often. You’re not the only one that experiences this kind of stuff,” says Kaeya.
Your lower abdomen starts to hurt, making you squeeze kaeya’s arms and clench your eyes shut. Kaeya looks at you worriedly, watching your hand fly to your swollen belly, your head ducking down while taking deep breaths.
Ayato steps forward. “Should we go to the infirmary to check and see if you’re okay?” Ayato asks.
You nod, reaching out for Ayato’s hand while Kaeya helps you walk forward. “It’s best that we go see Baizhu. I don’t know what’s happening, and it hurts,” you grunt.
When the other men hear about you visiting the infirmary in the estate, they all rush to the other side of the building and cram into the examination room. You’re laying on the examination bed, hands on your swollen belly, face pinching up in pain every other minute when the same feeling hits you again.
“What’s going on?” Zhongli demands, standing by your side and holding onto your hand.
You immediately squeeze Zhongli’s hand, leaning your head back on the headrest and closing your eyes. It hurts. You’re in so much pain, and even if it was brief, it still hurts so much and feels very discomforting. You take a deep breath and let out slow exhales, trying to remain calm and ignore the pain that appears every now and then.
“The pain [Y/N] is feeling are contractions. How do I put this without setting you all into a panic?” Baizhu murmurs, stroking his chin.
Thoma looks at Baizhu cautiously, holding his hand up. “What do you mean by setting us all into a panic?” Thoma asks cautiously.
“[Y/N] is currently in labor, but their water hasn’t broken yet,” Tighnari replies.
Everyone around your starts to panic and speak over each other. You lightly smack yourself on the forehead and watch the men debate on whether you should give birth at the estate or go to a hospital somewhere in Teyvat to give birth. The contractions hit you again, making you tense up and suppress a groan, your nails digging into the palm of your hands.
“Guys, can we please not argue right now?” You call out, breathing heavily.
Dainsleif turns to Baizhu. “We need to get them to the hospital. The estate’s infirmary isn’t made for delivering babies. What if [Y/N] has difficulty giving birth naturally? They’ll need to have a c-section, and the estate’s infirmary is not equipped for that either,” Dainsleif crosses his arms over his chest.
“He’s right. And looking at [Y/N]’s current condition, we need to get them to the infirmary as soon as possible before their water breaks,” Albedo interjects.
Albedo walks over to where you’re lying and helps you sit up. You wince and slowly get off the examination bed, clutching your baby bump. You signed up to be a parent, but you did not sign up for the amount of pain you’ll be feeling for the next however long this is going to go on. Labors can last up to over nineteen hours, and that is something you’re not prepared for. Hell no.
Do you know what else you’re not ready for? The doctors have to cut your entrance to your butthole for the baby to have an easier way out. Heck, sometimes the doctors don’t even have to do it; it can rip on its own while you’re giving birth. Now that you think about it, maybe a c-section is the better option than feeling the pain of natural childbirth.
“Wait! If we’re going to take [Y/N] to the hospital for the delivery, what region are we going to go to?” Venti asks, scratching his chin.
“Does it matter? [Y/N] is in labor right now!” Aether hisses, nudging Venti in the ribs.
Heizou hums, rubbing his chin with his thumb and index finger. “I mean, I would prefer [Y/N] to give birth in Inazuma,” Heizou comments.
You sigh out of frustration, leaning against Albedo and hugging your bump. Not another debate on where you’re going to give birth. You don’t care what region the baby is going to be born in! Does it really matter?
“I think we should have [Y/N] give birth in the region where the baby’s father is from!” Dottore interjects.
You stare at the men in disbelief. You close your eyes and shake your head, your body tensing up momentarily when the contractions kick in. Putting that aside, you think Dottore’s suggestion is a bit… unrealistic. You say that because there are men whose nations are destroyed and no longer exist. Albedo gives your arm a comforting squeeze, pulling you close to his chest.
Kazuha gives Dottore a fake smile. “I don’t think [Y/N] cares about what region the baby is born in. They just want to get to the hospital as soon as possible and prepare for the delivery,” Kazuha states, looking over at you.
You nod in response, letting out a shaky sigh. “I don’t care what region the baby is born in. Just take me to a hospital and let me pop this dang baby out!” You hiss, reaching for the nearest person and shaking them.
You stop shaking Xiao when you feel something wet gushing down your legs. Your hand flies to your belly, and you look down at the liquid pooling around you. It’s not blood, thankfully.
“Oh, no,” you whisper.
“What just happened?” Al Haitham demands, pushing through the crowd of men to try to get to where you’re standing.
You groan and tap on Albedo’s chest frantically. “Isn’t it obvious? My water just broke! We need to go to the hospital immediately! I don’t care what region the hospital is in! Just let me get this over with because it hurts so much!” You plead.
Xiao yanks you from Albedo’s grasp and sprints out of the estate’s infirmary with the other men following behind. You didn’t think you would go into labor so early, but unfortunately, pregnancy is unpredictable. You’re prepared to be a parent. You’ve read many books and made sure you’re informed. What you’re not ready for is how long the labor will last and finding out who’s the father of your soon-to-be-born newborn baby.
Archons, you and the men are not prepared for you going into labor. Kaveh and Capitano will have to return to the estate once you get checked into the hospital to grab necessities. Who knows how long you’ll be in labor.

Desert Roses // Chapter 1
Fandom: Genshin Impact Ship: CynoNari
Summary: Cyno and Tighnari have an arranged marriage to end the conflict between the desert and rainforest. Later, Tighnari discovers a box that could hold the truth behind the disappearance of the Scarlet King and the Goddess of Flowers.
(Ch.1) // Ch.2 // Ch.3 // Ch.4 // Ch.5 // Ch.6 //
Tumblr media
Tighnari rarely gave much thought to marriage but he never imagined he would be in an arranged marriage. The engagement still felt surreal to him. He stared at the door and waited for his betrothed to enter. This would be their first meeting. He sat on a large bed where he was surrounded by pillows, drapes and flowers. He wore a silk robe and a crown of flowers. The maids took great care to make him presentable for his future mate.
He held Nilotpala Lotus from his flower crown and idly twirled its delicate petals around his finger. The petal’s soft shade of yellow didn’t comfort him as it usually would. The knowledge that this could be the last time he held a flower from the rainforest made its petals appear duller. Tighnari dropped his hand and a sigh escaped him. He muttered reassurance to him. “You were the one who suggested an arranged marriage for peace. You cannot run away now.”
For decades, the rainforest and desert had been in conflict. The desert worshipped the Scarlet King while the rainforest followed the Goddess of Flowers. The two deities were once close friends but their sudden disappearance left their respective kingdom in disarray. Both kingdoms blamed the other for the death of their god and the mystery escalated to a war. Tighnari thought the fighting was pointless when they didn’t know what led to the gods’ disappearing.
The desert and rainforest eventually agreed to a peace treaty but decades of distrust couldn’t be erased easily. To ensure that neither could break the peace treaty, they would solidify it with an arranged marriage between their royal families. He offered to go to the desert and marry the General Mahamatra. However, Tighnari thought his role was better described as a political hostage rather than a bride.
His ears twitched when he heard footsteps approach the room and he sat straighter. Tighnari smoothed his hand over his robe and forced any doubt from his mind. He needed to face his fiancé with resolve or else the desert would doubt the rainforest’s commitment to the peace treaty. He hated how needlessly complicated politics was but he couldn’t simply ignore it either.
Tighnari had heard tales of the General Mahamatra’s feats in battle and he assumed he would be older and gruff. However, the man who entered his room was young and handsome. His hair was pale silver and he wore it longer than most. He crossed the room and stopped at the foot of his bed. Standing in front of him, Tighnari could see his sharp, red eyes clearly. The emotions they held were more difficult to read though.
Silence stretched between them as they waited for the other to speak first. The room slowly grew more tense and Tighnari clutched the blanket beneath him. While they were engaged to be married, they were still strangers to each other. Dwelling on the issue wouldn’t change anything and Tighnari decided to address it directly.
“The sages have told me about you, General Mahamatra. You’re an honourable man who wishes to end this war. We share the same goal. I don’t know whether they felt the need to inform you about me because I don’t hold a noble title. I am a mere forest watcher. Nevertheless, I will fulfil my part of our treaty. This may be an arranged marriage but we should try to be friends for the sake of our kingdoms.”
“My name is Cyno. There’s no need to call me General Mahamatra when we’ll be married soon.” The man’s next words took Tighnari by surprise. “The sages told me that you studied botany at the Akademiya. Do you know why pine trees are bad at sewing? They always drop their needles.”
“Pardon me?”
“You see, that was a pun about pine trees and needles used for sewing. Their leaves are called needles which are…” Cyno began to explain his joke to Tighnari but his expression only became more confused. He had hoped the joke would make their first meeting less awkward. He knew how people would become tense around him due to his title and sharp eyes. His joke achieved the opposite though.
Tighnari rubbed his temple and let out an exasperated sigh. “Did you honestly believe this is the appropriate time for a joke? I was earnestly discussing our engagement and future.”
Cyno didn’t know what to expect from his fiancé before he entered the room. When he saw Tighnari on the bed, he thought he looked like a delicate flower. He had a slender body and he assumed he had more experience with books than a weapon. The green robe he wore pooled around him like petals and its colour complimented his tail. That image contrasted the sharp tone Tighnari spoke with now.
“Perhaps, it was naïve of me to expect more from a political marriage. We should proceed with the mating ritual and retire for the night. We will be leaving for the desert early in the morning.” Tighnari placed his fingers on the broach that pinned his robe in place. Nervousness caused his fingers to pause over the cold metal. He had been in a few brief relationships but he never found someone he wanted to mate with.
He gathered his resolve and unclipped the broach. The fabric fell from his shoulders and onto his lap. He sat on the edge of the bed and waited for Cyno to join him. He didn’t take his clothes off though. Cyno cradled his cheek in his hand and his touch was surprisingly gentle. He leaned down and tilted Tighnari’s face up. Tighnari closed his eyes, expecting him to kiss him.
He felt his warm breath against his neck. “Fennec foxes mate for life. Are you certain you want this?”
“This marriage is to unite the rainforest and desert.”
“In the eyes of the law, we are married once our family approves and you start living with me. There’s no need to form a lifelong bond as mates.” Cyno leaned back from him and pulled the blanket over Tighnari’s shoulders in the same motion. “I trust that you won’t break our treaty so we don’t need to do something irreversible. You can find a lover of your choice even after our marriage.”
Tighnari didn’t know what to make of the man and he left him with more questions. Cyno was far from the tales he heard of the General Mahamatra. He introduced himself with an unfunny pun. At the same time, he was considerate of his feelings and didn’t bite him. As confused as Tighnari was, he also felt relieved that he was married to a good man.
“Thank you but I do not plan to find a lover. My research keeps me busy and happy. I hope to continue my work even after I move to the desert.” Tighnari adjusted the blanket around him and sat back against the pillows. “We still need to have the appearance of a content couple. Will you sleep next to me? I’ll have your scent and it’ll deter suitors from bothering me during my research.”
“You’re a practical person, aren’t you?” Cyno mused aloud as he laid down next to Tighnari. The mattress dipped beneath his weight, causing Tighnari to roll towards him slightly. He was close enough for Cyno to feel his body heat against his arm and smell the scent of flowers and incense from his dark hair. He had to admit that Tighnari was beautiful and anyone would be excited to have him for a fiancé. “Goodnight, Tighnari.”
Tumblr media
Tighnari’s dark fur made him more sensitive to the heat and the journey through the desert was beyond taxing. He endured the heat as much as he could. He didn’t want to slow down the caravan by taking unnecessary breaks. Sumpter beasts pulled the wagon but the sand kept their pace slow. Throughout most of the trip, he stayed in the shade of the wagon and distracted himself from the heat by reading. He wished he could leave the cart to study the desert’s unique flowers but he couldn’t risk fainting from the heat.
“We’ve arrived.” Once he heard Cyno’s voice from outside, Tighnari gathered his books and stood to leave. The wagon hadn’t stopped completely and he needed to balance himself by placing a hand on the wooden rail. Tighnari wanted to stretch his legs after spending hours sitting with only his thoughts. He preferred studying alone but the heat made the wagon feel stifling.
He parted the canopy curtain and he was left breathless at the palace before him. The large house was built around an oasis and the courtyard was overflowing with life and plants. He almost questioned whether the palace was a mirage. Tighnari couldn’t take his eyes off the oasis as he stepped out of the wagon. His foot missed the ledge and he fell forward. He grabbed the curtain to try to catch himself yet gravity pulled him down.
Cyno stepped in front of him and Tighnari fell against his chest. The momentum of his fall caused Cyno to stumble slightly. He wrapped his arms around his waist and kept them from falling. The curtain Tighnari held was pulled from the wagon and it fell over them. Sunlight filtered through the fabric and covered him in a soft hue. He looked down at Tighnari to ask him if he was hurt and noticed that his face was flushed. “Is the heat making you dizzy?”
“A little.” He admitted. Tighnari knew that it was pointless to lie to Cyno when he already noticed how the heat affected him. They had already reached the palace and he didn’t need to worry about his condition affecting the group. Cyno tousled Tighnari’s dark hair. He only meant to help cool him but he found his fingers lingering on his ears. They were surprisingly soft. “Can you let me go, Cyno?”
His words made Cyno realize how close they were. He let him go and then pulled the curtain from their heads. “My Matra will take our things to our room. I would give you a tour of the palace but I have to give a report to the king first. You aren’t required to join so you can take a rest in our room. There will be a feast to welcome you later tonight and you’ll meet the king then.”
“The heat won’t keep me from helping unload the cart. Anyways, I bought a few plants that need to be handled carefully. I’ll deal with everything here while you give your report to the king. We’ll meet in the courtyard afterwards.” Tighnari told him.
Cyno nodded in agreement yet he didn’t leave immediately. He watched Tighnari walk to the cart and give the Matra instructions about the plants he bought. People rarely spoke casually to him as Tighnari did and Cyno found himself curious about his new husband.

Tighnari sat on the ground and studied the cactus flower that he found in the courtyard. The palace was built around an oasis and the unique environment in the desert meant many different plants could grow there. The large assortment of flowers reminded him of the rainforest and loneliness struck his heart. He didn’t expect he would miss his home so quickly or intensely.
“What is this word again?” A small voice caught his attention and he turned away from the flower. In the far corner of the courtyard, there was a training area where people could practise their weapons or spar. A girl sat within the circle and she held a notebook in her hands. Tighnari watched her frantically flip through the pages and he reasoned that she was having trouble reading.
He glanced around the courtyard and he was confused to find that no one approached the girl to help her. His large ears allowed him to hear the faintest whispers but they must’ve noticed her struggling as well. Tighnari stood and brushed the dirt from his clothes. Before he could enter the training grounds, he was stopped by Shohre.
“You should keep your distance from that girl, Tighnari.” Shohre warned him. Cyno had assigned the Matra to guard him while he spoke with the king. Tighnari didn’t know why she would feel the need to protect him from a little girl. Then, Shohre added: “She has Eleazar.”
His eyes widened and he looked back at the girl. He read of the disease during his time in the Akademiya but he could only imagine how painful it was. Dark scales would form on the person’s skin, causing numbness to the area. Eventually, the person would lose the ability to move. Eleazar was a rare disease that affected both the rainforest and desert. They didn’t know its origin or a cure for it. The girl appeared to be only eight years old and he couldn’t help feeling sympathetic towards her.
Tighnari gently pushed Shohre’s hand away from him and said, “Eleazar isn’t contagious. There’s no reason for me to avoid her.”
He ignored how people stared at him as he entered the courtyard and he focused on helping the child. Tighnari stopped a few feet in front of her and then he knelt down so they were eye levelled. She lifted her gaze from her book when she noticed him and her expression because wary. He smiled kindly to reassure her and introduced himself.
“Hello, my name is Tighnari. Are you having trouble reading? I can read it for you.” He offered and held out his hand to her. She fell silent but he didn’t push her for an answer. Tighnari had treated many people and animals as a forest ranger and he knew that it was best to be patient with the girl. After a few moments, she placed the notebook in his hands.
“I’m Collei. This is my training regiment that will help me become stronger. I want to learn how to save others.” As she told him about her ambition, her voice changed from hesitant to excited. “Originally, I wanted to learn medicine but I don’t know how to read or write yet. For now, I can try to be strong with a spear like he is.”
“We all start knowing very little so you shouldn’t be disheartened, Collei. I’m from the rainforest and I studied in the Amurta Darshan. If you want, I’ll teach you medicine.” Tighnari said and her eyes filled with happiness and awe. “We’ll start with reading and writing. Let me read your notebook and see where we should start. I… Collei, who wrote this for you?”
“The man who helped me and brought me back to the desert.” Collei unconsciously rubbed the back of her neck. “I asked him to teach me but he’s very busy. He wrote this book to help me learn how to fight and practise reading.”
“He seems to enjoy adding pointless comments and jokes to these rather serious passages. No wonder you’re confused with this regiment. Your training is currently focused on using a spear but that might be difficult since you have Eleazar.” Tighnari mused out loud. “It’s good to exercise but you can’t strain yourself. Oh, I have an idea.”
Tighnari’s eyes fell onto a bow and a quiver of arrows. He took down two sets from the wall and handed the smaller one to Collei. “Have you tried archery before? While it takes a lot of arm strength, it should be manageable for you. You mostly need to focus on your form and becoming consistent. I’ll show you.”

“You’ve been staring at him for fifteen minutes now. Is the General Mahamatra too shy to speak with his own husband?” Alhaitham’s question received only a grunt from Cyno. Their personalities clashed with each other but they respected the other’s dedication to their principals. They both wanted to end the war. He continued: “The rainforest sent a forest watcher to fulfil the contract rather than someone of higher ranking. Can we trust this peace treaty or their commitment to it?”
“The rainforest? It’s too naïve to let down our guard with them. Tighnari? I need to investigate further to make a decision about him. For now, I believe he is earnest.” They stood on the balcony overlooking the courtyard where Tighnari was teaching Collei how to use a bow. Cyno didn’t look away from Tighnari as he spoke with Alhaitham. It was easy to see that Tighnari was a skilled fighter and that piqued Cyno’s interest further.
Originally, the desert’s advisors suggested they send Collei to the rainforest with the lie that she was from a royal family. She would’ve been a political hostage but Cyno rejected their plan. He couldn’t give the child to strangers when she was only starting to recover from her trauma. It was eventually decided Cyno would accept the arranged marriage.
“You deduced that from spending a single night with him? I hope your judgement isn’t being clouded because he helped Collei.” Alhaitham nodded towards them. “You can be sentimental and stubborn, General Mahamatra.”
“Can you say that when you’re housing a freeloader because of a crush you refuse to confess to? If you were completely objective, you would have him pay rent at least.” Even though Cyno knew he was trying to provoke him, he couldn’t stop himself from snapping back. He pushed away from the balcony rail and said, “I’ll keep observing him. If the rainforest does plan to break the treaty, I will know. Until I have confirmation, Tighnari is my husband and you cannot do anything to him.”

“I placed tape on the bow so you’ll know where to place your finger each time. It’ll become second nature for you eventually.” Tighari stood next to Collei and carefully adjusted her fingers to the right position on the bow. Her eyebrows drew together in concentration as she aimed her arrow at the scarecrow. “We’ll practise for a few more minutes. Then, I’ll give you some medicine for your Eleazar and move onto reading and writing.”
He heard footsteps approach them and he found it strange when everyone before seemed to avoid Collei due to her disease. Tighnari turned and saw Cyno walking down the steps to them. He reasoned that his meeting with the king had ended. He wanted to continue teaching Collei but it would be best to discuss the meeting with Cyno as soon as possible so they could decide what to do next.
“Collei, I have to go talk with someone but I’ll be back in a few minutes. Continue to practise drawing back the bow string.” He told her.
“Cyno’s back from his trip!” Collei followed Tighnari’s gaze and saw Cyno. She unconsciously let go of the bow string and the arrow flew over the palace wall. She nervously looked to Tighnari, worried that he would he would reprimand her for the mistake.
“I’ll get the arrow. Next time, be more mindful of where you point your arrow or else someone could get hurt.” He said and patted her head. Then, he waved to Cyno who was still a fair distance from them. He called: “Meet me at the gate, Cyno.”
Tighnari wasn't familiar with the layout of the palace since he arrived only a few hours earlier but the arrow couldn’t have fallen far. He also trusted that he could call for Cyno if he needed help. He walked around the gate and searched the ground for the arrow. In the distance, metal reflected the sunlight and caught his attention.
The light was too far to be Collei’s arrow but he decided to see what it could be. Tighnari stopped beneath a withered tree. Woven among the roots peeking through the sand was a silver string. He placed his hand over the tree and used his dendro vision to manipulate the roots. The tree opened enough for him to find a golden box hidden inside. The box was small enough to fit in his palm. Silver chains were wrapped around the box. He traced his finger over the design etches onto the chain, a vine of roses.
“To my desert rose and the king who holds my heart.” Tighnari needed to squint his eyes to read the faded words on the box. To his confusion, the script used was from the rainforest. The box must’ve been created by someone in the rainforest so why was so it so deep in the desert? He couldn’t linger on the question before he heard someone call his name.
“Tighnari, what are you doing?” He looked over his shoulder to where Cyno was standing. He twirled an arrow around his fingers and said: “I found the arrow.”
“Oh, that’s good. Let’s go back inside.” Tighnari said and tucked the box into his pocket. He decided to ask Cyno about the box he found later that night because they needed to prepare for the feast first. Though, there was one question he wanted to ask him immediately. “Cyno, do you know about desert roses? I thought they went extinct.”
“They all wilted and died after the Scarlet King and Goddess of Flowers disappeared years ago.” Cyno told him. In the corner of his eyes, he saw how Tighnari’s brows knitted together. He assumed he was merely disappointed that Tighnari was disappointed he couldn’t see a desert rose because he was a botanist. He almost reached out to him and gently smoothed the furrows away. He stopped himself and, instead, said: “Maybe we’ll find a desert rose one day. There’s a lot of mysterious things in the desert.”
