I think a really underrated character duo in gravity falls is Dipper and Stan. Like one, I think they are way more similar than people give them credit for. Like Dipper is definitely the one who feels like the ‘inferior’ twin (internally on his part), something reflected in Stan. Also Dipper is generally pretty cunning and willing to throw punches in a Stan-way, you can see Stan rubbing off on him as the show progresses. Dipper in the Stan costume, and that one scene where Stan and Dipper both cross their fingers at the same time for the same promise, both live in my head rent free. In my heart of hearts I think Dipper picks up a bit of Stans con-man tricks in the future (and Mabel goes on some bonding missions w/ Ford, but this post isn’t abt them). Also I just want to say I bet Dipper reminded Stan of a young Ford and that informed some of their early dynamic. Anyway bye just needed this brainworm out

Is it possible to still like a character but dislike/feel iffy about their canon relationship/portrayal?

#Percabeth shippers pls dont come at me #I like annabeth ok #I just feel weird reading the books and how she's portayed at times #I dont want to be jumped #I just think they both need to grow more as people themselves before getting into a relationship #theyre kids who never had a chance being kids #and theres healthier ways to show affection and it was cute when I was younger but rereading the books now just fills me up with dread #i just think they both need therapy first #gods i feel like a sniper is aiming at my head #just to reiterate: I like Annabeth #but not Percabeth #I don't like any of the ships in general tbf #like the part where they talk about what Percy will do for college while in Tartarus #that one was sweet #judo flip and all the “punching” was unnecessary #And the canonically lowering his self esteem #and the healthy dose of fear in that one kane book i forgot the name of #and why can't the “punch” be a playful “nudge” instead?#Idk I just see myself in Annabeth a lot but when I see how she's portrayed w her actions I'm horrified #because it takes a lot of hurt to be gentle and ik Annabeth is a sweetheart at her core #Cerberus in book 1 Her dream to be w her family in book 2 so on and so forth #like shes strong and soft at the same time but why is the soft part not that shown? i do rly love dungeon meshi so far and i do see that the mangaka is trying to rehabilitate the dnd tropes and make them more thoughtful and less racist and this is not so much a judgement, more an observation, but the dnd tropes originally are so racist that i kinda wish that the mangaka was completely inventing her own worldbuilding instead of building off of them. like maybe at some point we should as a society move away from and throw away dnd tropes in the trashcan where they belong, just a thought you know.

#the fact that many fantasy based stuff builds off of dnd tropes without doing much is not great #do we need to keep concept of races in fantasy? can we just not be like these people have long ears because of the climate and food etc #and same for orcs could be like they live in the mountains and are rugged and all #it just makes me so uncomfortable bcz there's all these inbuilt assumptions about orcs and elves etc that viewers will bring with them #most of the orcs in dunmeshi so far are darkskinned and it seems like a holdover from dnd which is obv visibly borrowed from tolkien #they tried to explain in the anime how orcs had no choice but to loot and plunder but still it just feels unsatisfactory #also the creepy af elf being dark skinned like hmmm darkskinned elves being evil is also a trope from dnd #tbf i still need to read the manga so maybe the elf thing is explained there #i am currently only watching the anime #but yeah this is 2k24 can we pls not do race science in the background of any fantasy adventure i am le tired

WHILE WE'RE CELEBRATING MY BIRTHDAY. IN FRONT OF ME. THEIR GNC GRANDCHILD. WHO REFERS TO HIMSELF WITH MASCULINE TERMS EVERY TIME YOU SEE HIM. LOUDLY. it's been two years and i STILL can't believe the audacity. like YOU invited ME out to dinner and start talking that shit?? if they weren't family and we weren't in public i would have told em to shut the fuck up
