Ask Game Speed Round!!
[For the Unpopular Opinion Ask Game!!]
These are all a bunch of smaller ones I thought would be too cumbersome and spammy to post on their own... Enjoy!!
Content Warning: Long.

While I do really like Dave's character as it exists in the comic- no clue what version of Dave most of the fandom is talking about, but I don't know him- I kind of like the themes in Davesprite's character more than I do Dave's. It's another Hal situation.
Dave's character tackled a lot of things very personally relatable to me in ways I'd never seen illustrated before, but Davesprite is more interesting to think about, and seems a little more fun to write. Dave was great representation for me, as someone who grew up in a very bad home, but Davesprite just has that extra oomph with his talk of humanity and individuality. Really like that guy.

This may come across as crass, or stepping out of my own lane, but I don't think giving them either multiple sets of pronouns, neopronouns, or both actually rids them of the bigotry in their characters. Lipstick on a pig situation. It just seems like a lazy, incurious fix. Yes, trans headcanons are great, but more and more often I see people use it as a cure-all to the issues a character has, either in a Doylist or Watsonian way. Queer friendliness does not eliminate racism. If a character is a bigoted caricature of a specific group of people, then slapping on a leftist layer of paint by saying "actually they're a minority icon in this other way" doesn't actually... Get rid of the problem. It's just kind of... Tone deaf.
We see this often with Transmisogynistic Caricatures getting claimed as Gay Icons, and people just saying that because they've just claimed them as a campy gay queen, the transmisogyny has been nullified- you can't talk about it anymore, they're the real good leftist in the room, you're a killjoy, and they've defeated bigotry. Not how it works.

Kind of tired of how some act like her only character traits are Silly Ditzy Furry Girl. Jade is an incredibly, incredibly intelligent young girl, an excellent marksman, and so, so deeply lonely. We need to talk about Jade's chronic loneliness more.
Also, I think she's some kind of Psychotic. One of the flavors. It just feels right to me. It feels canon-adjacent. Or, at least, a textually valid way to read her character. I have a whole post about it somewhere. Mituna and Jade shaking hands on the Psychosis.

Taking this opportunity to defend Aranea. Some people really need to stop acting like she's worse than Vriska. We all know what Aranea did was justified. Maybe not correct, but justified. And fucking awesome to watch.
Like, look. She spent an unfathomable amount of years being shot down and ignored and belittled by people who were supposed to be her friends... Aranea had to literally pay Meenah, her own best friend, to listen to her infodump, and even then Meenah couldn't afford to give her own best friend enough respect to just listen to her talk about something she's passionate about for 5 minutes.
I need you to think to yourself, genuinely. If you spent thousands- and I mean thousands upon thousands- of years getting ignored and walked on by everyone around you, even your own friends... If you spent thousands upon thousands of years getting called boring and a doormat to your face by even your own friends... Wouldn't you go crazy, too? Wouldn't you snap? Wouldn't you want to do something drastic just to get people to look at you? Just to be seen as something other than weak and boring? Just to be seen as worth even an iota of interest, a shred of someone's time? Wouldn't you? Because I think any normal person wouldn't take thousands upon thousands of years. I don't think you would last a decade. I wouldn't either, and I'm a pretty patient person.
Y'all are just jealous you can't play billiards with planets using your mind when you're mad. That shit was so awesome.

This is not an Unpopular Opinion, or even an Opinion, I'm just pointing this out. Do you ever think about the fact that we hardly got any conversations between Rose and Jade? I do. This haunts me. This fucks me up so bad. We get plenty between John and Dave, and Dave and Jade, and Dave and Rose, and Rose and John, and Jade and John... But hardly anything between Rose and Jade!! This is so fucked up. We were robbed. I need to watch them hang out.

Okay, this is less of an Unpopular Opinion, and more of an Unpopular Fact, but... Mituna doesn't just throw slurs at people. That's one of the things people jump to when they're talking about Defanging Mituna- they always say something about how he "calls people slurs every two seconds". He literally doesn't. That is legitimately not a thing he does. If you heard that before and believed it, you were literally lied to. That is straight up demonstrably not true.
Like, if you're trying to think of something Mituna does every two seconds unprompted, it's either sex jokes or apologizing. Slurs aren't a thing he just slings around casually. He said a grand total of one slur... To Meenah... And it's a fake troll slur. And then we get it defined to us... Aaaand it's the troll equivalent to "Cracker". That's it. That's the crime he's committed- calling someone a word that is immediately after defined to us as "Someone who is at the top of and benefits from the furthering of the oppressive Fuchsia-Down power structure, and the Lowbloods that help enforce it." That's the slur he used. That's what made people start declaring that "he would totally say the N Word" with full and complete confidence. Absolutely ridiculous. He's called no one else any kind of genuine slur. He just called Meenah a Wader once, and then she and Kankri got upset about it, because they are both, by definition, Waders.

Leijon Hot Take Party Pack: If you think Nepeta shipping her friends together is fine, or even adorable, but then sneer at or get grossed out by Meulin doing the same thing, you're a hypocrite. I don't care if you say "Meulin's writing Friend Fic, though, that's weird!!" the problem with Shipping Your Friends and Writing Romantic Fanfiction Of Your Friends is at the same root.
The problem with these things isn't the presence of writing, it's the presence of, you know, shipping your friends? If you're fine with Nepeta doing it, you've gotta be fine with Meulin doing it. Be fine with both or neither. It's the same damn thing. I'm pretty sure both friend groups are fine with it, too, so it's not like this is a boundaries issue or anything. Both or neither. Pick one.

Observation: I do think it's cool how Jane and Jake are related and have similarly opposing relationships with their gender. Jake's oft presented with Feminine themes and imagery, and Jane with Masculine themes and imagery. Very cool. Wish more people made that correlation.

Okay, that's all for now!! Thank you for reading, if you did. Have a nice rest of your day. :)

cant find the original post but a while ago i impulsively decided to add all 32 sburb players (betas, alphas, alternians *and* beforans) to a random name generator and then randomly mix them up - characters kept their original first name and class, and took on the last name and aspect of whatever character they took the role of. this was just meant to be a funny 1am experiment so i could laugh at the cursed results
...yeah it has lore now. i cant stop thinking about it. help.
Beta Kids:
Gamz Egbert (Gamzee) - Bard of Breath. One of the most chill guys ever. Constantly zoned the hell out. Loves clowns :0) him and his dad bond over it. Hangs out with Kari a lot over vc, where it's basically just Kari talking at him uninterrupted (the kid needs it sometimes)
Kari Strider (Kankri) - Seer of Time. Gifted kid and he won't let you forget it. Permanently lives in a sweater vest even though he literally lives in Texas. Constantly annoyed by how childish and immature his older brother is. Lectures him a lot. Lectures his friends a lot. Has 'visions of his past lives' (aka occasional memories from his post-scratch/alternate timeline counterparts). Lectures his friends about how theyre real and valid whenever they make give him shit for it (which happens a lot). Dedicated pacifist - for now, anyway.
John Lalonde - Heir of Light. Golden child. Has an over-bearing mother that constantly pushes him into learning instruments/lanugages/skills, participating in competitions and events, winning award after award. Sure, he's... kinda sick of doing things all day every day, and he doesn't really want to do any of this, but... shouldn't he do it anyway? Even if just for his Mom? Hell, he can't really complain about it, right? He has such a good life! He goes horseback riding every sunday! Sure, it sucks that he doesn't have any free time that isn't controlled by his mother, but he can deal with it. It's fine.
(Things get even worse during the three year trip when Wuh Oh! Gender crisis time! Except he can’t be a girl because he was always meant to be his mom’s perfect son, and he’s already let her down once by letting her die, right? He can just… live with this. Its fine. It's not that bad. It's for her, after all.)
Roxy Harley - Rogue of Space. Grew up living on a small island somewhere in the Pacific that her grandfather 'won in a poker game' (aka probably scammed someone out of, knowing him) - or so he says, anyway. He also used to say he got Roxy the same way every time she asked where she came from! Haha very funny Roxy definitely loved hearing that and not a real response every time she asked where she came from and why she didn’t have any parents. That was great. Her grandfather died when she was fairly young, leaving her alone on the island with nothing left of him but the small inventions he left around the place to make life easier for her. She grows up learning how to maintain them, and although she tries becoming a great inventor like her grandfather, she just... doesn't have the skill. Hacking, on the other hand - shes great at that shit! She finally cracks her final goal - cracking into her grandfathers servers - just before her friend Gamz's 13th birthday, finding mostly boring shit - expenses, customer complaints, legal threats, budgets, etc. What's mildly more interesting to her, however, is the insane amount of money (if they lived on the mainland, they'd be fucking LOADED), and a .exe file for a really cool looking game, with a note from her grandfather congratulating her on finally getting in. And hey, would you look at that? Its multiplayer! And all her friends are free - even John, who through sheer coincidence found himself with a free weekend after his tutors came down with various mysterious illnesses and injuries. It's like the universe wants them to play the game or some shit! Haha wild
Alpha Kids:
Raph Crocker (Rufioh) - Rogue of Life. The living embodiment of all those business major memes. Dude is *dedicated* to the Crockercorp brand - he's determined that one day, he'll climb the ranks and become head of the company, and hopefully lead it just as well as his great-grandfather did. He unironically wears a suit everywhere, and seems committed to sounding like a 50 year old boardroom exec trapped in the body of a 16 year old - although it isn't hard to get him to crack. As much as he pretends he has no patience for his online friends and their constant stories of 'living on a remote island' or 'living in the post-apocalyptic future' (seriously guys, he isn't that gullible), he does genuinely care about them. Besides, when you're stuck in the house all day, there isn't much else to do.
Tuna Strider (Mituna) - Heir of Heart. Trans king. Exudes pure 'disney channel older brother' energy. Shithead (affectionate). Looks up to his Bro, a famous pacifist who resisted the Batterwitch's rule with a global peaceful protest... only to be killed the moment he became too much of a threat. Yyeah. Tuna has... some thoughts about how that should have gone down - most of them involving swords. Or guns. Or both. Maybe if his Bro had a sweet katana, the world wouldn't have been flooded! Although it's too late for his Bro, Tuna has decided to take up the fight in his stead by creating his own 'sick as fuck gun-sword' with whatever scrap metal he can find in the apartment (his Bro, for some reason, didn't think to leave him any useable weapons. cringe). He's got the sword part down great, but the gun... not so much.
Vris Lalonde (Vriska) - Thief of Void. The second half of the 't4t post apocalypse chaos squad', as Tuna calls them. Girl doxxes people for fun - what are they gonna do? Doxx her back? lmao good luck with that losers - closest youre gonna get is still 400 years off. Constantly daring her friends to do stupid shit and quote, 'stop being so fucking boringggg'. it usually works on tuna. sometimes on dave. she still hasnt gotten raph yet, but *one day*...
Dave English - Knight of Hope. smooth talking mile a minute inventor who *loves* trying to 'pitch' his latest invention to his friends. its become almost a game to them, where theyll take turns bidding increasingly ridiculous amounts for an umbrella that shoots seeds ('for easy planting in the rain yknow') or a beat-boxing robot ('i dont even need to explain this one just look at it man. cool as shit'). hell, even raph gets involved sometimes, usually turning it into a shark tank style negotiation. dave swears hes keeping a tally of how much everyone 'owes' him, and claims that one day hes settling that bill. his inventions are genuinely pretty impressive, especially considering his limited resources - being stuck alone on a remote island makes sourcing parts pretty hard. he probably wouldnt even need to jokingly scam his friends in order to jokingly sell his inventions - they jokingly sell themselves. he just thinks scamming people is fun.
Alternia Rapid Fire Round lets goo
Cronus Megido - Bard of Time. relentlessly flirts with anyone of a higher caste than him in the hopes that, if he can get into a quadrant with them, he'll have more protection than he would as just a solo rustblood. this strategy ultimately fails when he flirts with a particular Serket one too many times and gets killed for it. damn. oh well.
Sollux Nitram - so so tired of everyones shit. the only person that actually vaguely got along with Cronus (because he was the only person that Cronus didn't flirt with). just wants to play his pokemon in peace man stop dragging him into drama
Damara Captor - Witch of Doom. 'curses' people. seems weirdly unsurprised when those curses actually work. after cronus' death, a rumour went around that she was the one who caused it, and she absolutely wasnt denying that shit - now no one wants to fuck with her, and those that do? well, she still has her psiionics.
Meulin Vantas - Mage of Blood. Basically the only fucking thing holding this friendship group together. Despite all the complicated as shit relationships - the friendships, the exes, the mortal enemies, the attempted (and successful) murders - Meulin somehow manages to navigate the web of relationships and keep everyone relatively stable
Jaydee Leijon (Jade) - Witch of Heart. catgirl :33. Wishes she lived closer to everyone so she could see them 33: especially her moirail!! at least she still has her lusus to playfight with
Karkat Maryam - Knight of Space. basically a tboy vampire. Used to live in the caverns, but after he realised he was a dude, he began to feel uncomfortable with how oppressive and 'feminine' the caverns were. ran away. struggles with his identity - the contrast between the typical female jadeblood standards of being caring and nurturing, and the typical alternian female standards of being violent and aggressive, leave him stuck in the middle, unsure of what to do or who hes 'allowed' to be. swings wildly between being aggressive and letting himself care about his friends. he eventually figures out that gender stereotypes are bullshit and he can care abt his friends and still be a dude. hes still an asshole though <3
Eridan Pyrope - Prince of Mind. Incredibly committed to a strict moral code - which... no one can figure out. it seems to vary wildly depending on what suits him best at the specific moment. Used to roam Alternia looking for 'criminals' to 'improve' or, if that failed, 'bring to justice' with one Serket, but after an incident involving the loss of three eyes and one arm... they arent exactly on speaking terms.
Dyrrhk Serket (Dirk) - Prince of Light. i dont know how else to say it this mfer makes saw traps. he claims its to 'improve' people - by putting them through some specific trap, it... fixes a percieved issue? even if its an issue only he can see. and if they die in the trap? well, they should have just tried harder right. they probably deserved it. he isnt even doing this out of a desire to hurt people hes *genuinely* convinced that what hes doing is helping, and thinks that this is the best way to go about it. puts eridan through one one day, resulting in the loss of his vision, and after he (finally) figured out that 'huh maybe that wasnt a good idea', he... apologises. lmao just kidding that would be too reasonable - instead he mind controls one of his friends into putting *dyrrhk* into a trap of his own design, resulting in the loss of an eye and an arm. he seems genuinely convinced that this should make them even. everythings fine now, right? he scares me just on a conceptual level
Tavros Zahhak - Page of Void. hes basically a himbo im ngl. hes tall hes ripped hes clumsy and he cant help but draw attention to himself wherever he goes - attention he *hates*. moirails with jaydee. theyre cute <>
Latula Makara - Knight of Rage. clown... despite the usual purpleblood stereotypes, she doesnt really get angry all that often - most of the time, shes just vibing. but when she *does* get angry? its always for a reason. theres always a specific goal shes fulfilling through that anger (even if its just intimidating someone into doing something). i have the least thoughts about her but shes interesting
Jaiikk Ampora (Jake) - Page of Hope. Just a funny lil guy that likes playing pirates :) all the lowbloods he roleplays with definitely want to be there and don't feel coerced by being 'asked' by a literal violetblood :)) if people die during his 'games' well that sucks but he cant exacly stop playing because of a few small accidents right? ..yyeah. hes incredibly ignorant of his position in society and how that effects other people, even if (especially if) those consequences are deadly for others. after a certain point its just easier to not know whats going on than to face all the damage youve caused right. claims he loves the ocean and dreams of living in the depths. never goes into the ocean. hes a weird guy
Equius Peixes - Heir of Life. Future heir to the Alternian throne. Determined to lead Alternia into a new era of strength, no matter the methods to get there. moirails with Jaiikk (which absolutely doesnt help the whole 'Jaiikk accidentally pressuring lowbloods into doing things for him' thing. bro has scary dog privileges with the future emperor looming behind him at all times)
Even faster Beforus speed round because you cant legally make me think about them for more than five seconds
Porrim Megido - Maid of Time
Feferi Nitram - Witch of Breath
Rose Captor - Seer of Doom
Nepeta Vantas - Rogue of Blood
Kurloz Leijon - Prince of Heart
Aradia Maryam - Mage of Space
Aranea Pyrope - Sylph of Mind
Kanaya Serket - Sylph of Light
Jane Zahhak - Maid of Void
Meenah Makara - Thief of Rage
Terezi Ampora - Seer of Hope
Horuss Peixes - Page of Life

i found your old tltstuck and filled in the gaps cause i had nothing better to do with my night. basically in my head it's like
first house: caliborn/calliope
second house: mindfang/darkleer, vriska/terezi
third house: condesce/psiionic, feferi/eridan
fourth house: dualscar/dolorosa, equius/nepeta (dolorosa is seventh house jane's original cav so she had to eat jake instead to ascend)
fifth house: grand highblood/redglare, gamzee/june
sixth house: roxy/dirk, rose/dave
seventh house: jane/jake, jade/tavros
eighth house: handmaid/summoner (going off of what happened with the beforans), sollux/aradia
ninth house: signless/disciple, karkat/kanaya
thoughts?
1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 8th i agree with in the sense that i dont have much comment on them other than "vibes" - i can see vrisrezi in the 2nd or 4th house about as equally as i can imagine karkat and equius/nepeta in the fourth based on the fact that its literally the Child Soldier planet, which fits alternia perfectly. any other houses seem more specific to tropes or character analyses that imo dont fit the homestuck cast as well! shocker but im not a huge fan of crossovers for this reason, bc trying to replace characters or positions 1:1 gets difficult when various themes and characters might intersect.
i would swap jane/jake and the strilondes because i associate the glasspits much more in the academic/unseen intelligence area (especially since jane was literally raised to learn and conquer, i can see them all more prominently in 3rd/5th as powerhouses) and the strilondes in an eternal strife with death and whatever fate might mean. but again the strilondes are also heavily fourthcoded to me (though i can see rose as sixth, and i assume you paired a lot of them from existing duo dynamics). and kanaya goes hard in the 7th house. lastly i find it hard to associate anyone with the ninth house because its so beautifully engineered for harrowhark and harrowhark only. even though karkat and kanaya have their "galaxy letdown" moments which could be associated with harrow, the ninths main purpose is to isolate and uphold a deep antichrist with fear and reverence, which is [gestures vaguely] its something rose would want to migrate to but you would have to consider how their personalities would be nurtured if they were born and raised in such an environment; its harder to reverse engineer such things and at this point its a lot like a very extreme kidswap to me
if anything i say here right now contradicts what ive said before well. my thoughts have changed it just happens

my first thought was 'accidental eggs Gamzee' when I saw your prompts thing.
Karkat is surprisingly territorial. Granted, Gamzee wasn't surprised when they were younger, before everything that happened in the game, but he was surprised now.
Karkat had, after all, been the one to suggest they start dating from the beginning. And Gamzee had sincerely tried to meet him there, despite how often he found himself wishing he could skip pretending to get to know him again and just lay on his chest. They had managed one human earth "month" of platonic dates, before Karkat had come to his hive in the middle of the night and asked if he could have a kiss.
Far be it from Gamzee to say no.
The next "month", after several more dates that felt like dates used to, Gamzee realized fully that Karkat wasn't actually as comfortable distancing himself as he acted. There were signs, like the fact that he still initiated most of their piles or anything, but this was definitely the clearest indication Gamzee got.
They were sitting outside, enjoying a lukewarm day, and Meulin came up to them. Gamzee liked her well enough, and since he had at least a rudimentary knowledge of Alternian Sign Language, she had been coming to meet him more often than not; seems her group was as yet unwilling to learn.
"Gamzee! Do you wanna get something to eat?"
Since he was at that moment laying his head on Karkat's back, he took a second to respond, speaking the words as he did for Karkat's benefit. "I'm busy right now. Can he join?"
Karkat frowned at the corner of Gamzee's eye, but stayed silent, only putting his hands on Gamzee's thighs where they sat around his own.
"I wanted to take you out. You can ditch him, right?" That same, casual Beforan energy. It was worst about any of the mutants; Sollux or Rufioh, messiahs forbid Tavros even. They had been raised to not just consider Karkat and Kankri as lesser, but to think they were almost non-entities. "You don't have a pale, do you?"
Non-entities in dating, especially. Even the ones who knew Kankri for a while seemed to act that way a lot of the time.
Gamzee's frown matched Karkat's, partially because he had copied it so much to try and get his way on Alternia. "I'm with him right now. Stop talkin' about Karkat like he's not even here. Don't wanna go out with you, anyways, Nep would--"
He didn't have a chance to finish speaking, because Karkat stood, and offered a hand to Gamzee. When he took it, Karkat started leading him off, back towards his hive, stomping every step of the way. Meulin looked upset, but Gamzee didn't really feel much sympathy for her, all things considered, and resolved to send her a text later, maybe.
As soon as the door slammed behind Gamzee and he was closed up in Karkat's hive, Karkat was on him, pressing his face to the side of Gamzee's throat and stuffing his hands under his shirt. He turned his head, pressed a kiss to the base of Karkat's horn, and got pulled into a kiss that was half teeth a moment later.
"Baby, are you made at me?" Gamzee mumbled, stroking his palms over Karkat's cheeks. "You don't gotta be gentle."
Karkat froze, and settled his palms on Gamzee's shoulders. "I'm not mad at you. I'm mad at her. And all the other fucking Beforans, for acting like that. She asked you out when I was sitting in your lap! On Alternia, I would be expected to gut her!" He shook with bottled-up anger, and Gamzee kissed his forehead.
"Yeah, but the others'd get upset." He purred, rubbing his nose against Karkat's own. "Does it help you're the only troll I ever want in my diamond?"
He opened his eyes to Karkat's own wide, pale red tears threatening to spill over the edges. "The only one?" His face was flushed, and the heat suffused Gamzee's hands.
"Course, sweet. Only one I've ever wanted, only one I'll ever want. You're my perfect pink."
Karkat wasn't rough, kissing him again. He pushed Gamzee's shirt up, and slid his tongue into Gamzee's mouth, but pulled away after only a second. "D'you wanna lay down?"
The pile they'd made at Karkat's hive was plush, constructed mostly of his sweaters and blankets with too many holes to keep using for anything else. Even though it was easy to get new things now, they were both partial to the well-loved feel of old things like this, so they had silently agreed to keep it that way. Besides, it meant Karkat wasn't going to be upset if Gamzee's face smeared onto the blankets.
He fell into it with Karkat on top of him, the concentrated weight and softness of his stomach pinning him down in a way that always made Gamzee melt, this time included. Karkat licked his ear while he moved to straddle Gamzee's waist, his bulge twisting against the front of his jeans already. It had been a long time, after all, since they had really had any reliable outlet for that, too.
Karkat pulled his shirt off, dropping it to be lost in the pile, and ran his hands down Gamzee's chest, leaving a trail of goosebumps from how warm he was. "You're so pretty, Gamzee. You have to look out, trolls are gonna want to be with you because of it." He said it matter-of-factly, and Gamzee felt his neck get hot about it.
"You're teasin' me, Karbaby." Not that he was complaining. "Are you jealous?"
He gasped when Karkat stuffed a hand down his pants, hot fingers pressing against the lips of his sheathe. Karkat slid off of him to push his pants down, rubbing his fingers over his sheathe until Gamzee's bulge slid out a few inches to wrap around them. Then, he was kissing Gamzee's stomach, his hips, and he turned his head to look at Gamzee directly when Gamzee sat up on his elbows.
"Yeah, I am. I'm jealous anyone else looks at you at all, Gamzee." He sounded so miserable, so sincere and honest and pathetic, that Gamzee couldn't help but believe him. "Does that make me a bad palemate?"
Gamzee's hand covered Karkat's horn, half holding on as his bulge finished sliding out. "Nah. I love you, diamonds. Nothin' you did could make you a bad palemate." He smiled, and Karkat dug his teeth into Gamzee's hip bone, growling.
"Lift your legs, Gamzee." His fingers were pressing at the edge of his nook, rubbing insistently, and pressed in as soon as Gamzee spread his legs. "I love you. I love you so much." He thrust his fingers slowly, pressing the pads of them against the ceiling of Gamzee's nook, and followed him when it inevitably made him squirm.
"Fuck, lemme uh, lemme touch you, Karkat." His voice was a whine, hips rolling slightly, but Karkat only sat up to kiss him, firmly, even though it made his reach more shallow. "Baby, please?"
His other hand planted in the middle of Gamzee's chest, pushing him down with just enough force to keep him still. "Let me, Gamzee. I'm.." He bit the inside of Gamzee's thigh, and started thrusting his fingers more quickly. "I just want to. Just wait."
The first time was quick; he ripped some of the blankets in his fists, and Karkat praised him like he had done something special by spilling all over himself. The second time took a while to build to, and Gamzee felt almost so oversensitive he needed to stop several times, whining until Karkat slipped his hand into Gamzee's hair and kissed his face, purring at him, saying we can stop, if you want to and making Gamzee beg for him to continue.
When he came the second time, tears streamed down his cheeks, and his bulge, completely ignored around Karkat's wrist, only gave a weak twitch before clamping itself down against Karkat's skin again. "So good, Gamzee. I don't want anyone else to see you like this. Okay? No one else, you're mine."
His eyes felt sticky with quick-drying tears, but he nodded, looked up. "Okay, yeah. Love you." He sat up as much as he could, and pulled Karkat into a kiss. While he struggled to match Karkat's intensity, Karkat unzipped his pants, and only broke away to push them down.
Gamzee's nook was puffy and a little sore, and it made him flinch when Karkat pulled his fingers out. His bulge was softer, but after the first twist it was a stretch, and Gamzee whined, wrapping his arms and legs around Karkat as tightly as he could without hurting him, which he only really knew from the grunt his palemate let out.
Karkat's hips moved in jerky, quick movements that made Gamzee's bulge rub against his soft belly, and twitched a little faster when Gamzee's grip moved to the soft folds on his ribs, pinching his grubscars slightly. He was getting tense, sharp knees pressing into Karkat's sides and his claws threatening to dig into his beloved's skin, but he couldn't stop himself.
He yelped when Karkat pinned his hands down, leaning over Gamzee completely, and he shuddered as the combination of the deeper thrust and the weight of him on top pushed him over the edge again. Gamzee sobbed as he came, his bulge writhing angrily, and Karkat murmured against his neck.
"So good, so pretty, I love you, Gamzee. I love you." He moved a little faster, grinding the base of his bulge into the sore rim of his nook.
Head tossed back, Gamzee gasped. "Fuck, somethin'-- I can't, I can't stop it, babe, baby, diamond, mothefuck--"
Something moved through his bulge, solid and from the inside, and he couldn't make a single sound as an egg rolled against his stomach, the strange pain-pleasure mix making his eyes roll and his nook clench around Karkat. He spilled, white-hot material flooding Gamzee and pushing a second and third egg out of his bulge, followed by watery spurts of material.
"Fuck." Karkat was out of breath, grinding still, and released Gamzee's hands to cup his face. "That's so... Can you do that again?"
Gamzee blinked slowly. "Dunno. Didn't know I could at all. Felt fuckin... Weird."

hii i want some meenah (and or kankri) analysis >:3 love the way you explain things
HEARTTTTTTT thank you mio <3333 you will have to forgive me because the beforus trolls really really are not my wheelhouse outside of, like, talking about the ways that they represent (generally) interpretations of the beta trolls that hussie found shitty and obviously the whole obsession he had with owning the teenage SJWs for being messy about their critique of him as if he did not create the confines and energy of that space in the first place.
that said meenah is one of my favies of the bunch and i think i already have said a little bit to you about why i find her compelling on twitter before but UHMMM cracks knuckles
okay so i am a big fan of the characters whos isolation plays into the ways that make them harder for the rest of the cast to sympathize with. isolation is obviously an element of homestuck that is generally relevent to every characters story but for some of them that makes the friendgroups they have cultivated a source of empowerment and for some of them it functions to magnify why they hold whatever particular place in the narrative they do. why the narrative, as something alive and malicious to the characters living within it, grants some of them agency and denies others. and in some ways meenah gets agency, i mean she is the catalyst for every major decision that ensures the outcomes of her session! she has massive influence and control of her own future and is very strongheaded in her refusal to give that up, i love it for her.
that said she also is another victim of fitting into a character slot influenced by hussies biases. i think it is a little bit too simplistic when people try to paint the hemospectrum as just racism flipped on its head (plus that doesnt really account for the lowbloods who are written to be brown), but the makaras and the peixes get the worst of the messiness that IS there, where both on individual levels their characterizations end up saying some extremely fucked up things and revealing a lot about what hussie thinks black culture, like, is. and in a more general sense they invoke the uncomfortable undercurrent of antiblackness and anxiety surrounding black culture becoming a dominating cultural force that troll society is built upon. ive seen this spoken about better, and by actually black fans, so i wont try to hard to restate it all, but the ways that alternia (and beforus by extension) invoke black culture especially in the trolls we are meant to understand as holding societal privilege is like, so so so fucking weird!, and the choice to insert meenah the way that he did, long after discussions about this had started to really permeate the sphere of critique to me cant really feel like anything but a conscious decision, and retroactively erased any chance at him claiming ignorance with what he was doing with gamzee. the decision to double down on the concept that any of these behaviors are instinctual is also the bane of my existence. all of these characters who are loaded with blatant racism and then forced into roles of antagonizers are the ones i feel the most need to align myself with forever no questions asked.
to roll back around to meenah's isolation though, i think a lot of people kind of forget that for as much as she idolizes her post-scratch self, she felt so trapped by the prospect of ruling on beforus that she literally chose to run away and go into hiding and live! all by herself! this is so sad to me and especially drawing back on that metanarrative string of being a marginalized girl we are supposed to read as privileges (eugh!), i think it speaks so blatantly to her want for a nice life where she can be with her friends, even if i think her own conditioning makes her not entirely aware of that because shes spent her entire life being told she is meant to want power and her attitude of embracing that in the least-beforan way possible is so clearly the escapist fantasy of a teenager whos been told all her life how to be who hasnt quite unlearned the idea that power and riches and status are what makes you important.
even despite our entire view of her through her active role in the story being basically hussie telling us over and over and over again what a violent and selfish person she is, everything we hear about her actions in their session point more to meenah just being an abrasive girl who doesnt really know how to express her feelings, especially the ones that make her feel vulnerable or forced onto equal footing with people when shes always been told that isnt what shes meant to do. she bakes them a cakeeee for their anniversaryyyy come onnnn :o(((( i love her. even the stuff she does to damara is all only ever done with the intent of making sure her team can survive the game she has brought them all into (their dynamic is my favorite part about the beforus trolls one day i will speak on it). and ofc her entire plan to kill all of them to make sure they dont all end up wiped from existence!
ok um i am admittedly losing steam with my thoughts here so i will end this there but tldr she is everything to me

I’m trying to introduce new things into how I digest Alternia little by little especially post-slurquest which I found very helpful. Is Alternia the internet of the early 2000s? The social goal there was often (still is arguably) to not introduce any consciousness of gender or race which was disruptive and treated accordingly. (There are no girls on the internet/tits or stfu/etc.) Following these rules required a certain amount of roleplay. Is it too simple to say Sburb/Sgrub is just the statement “society is an rpg...” or is it perhaps TOO ELEGANT???
I’m writing backwards. The whole purpose of this line of thought was to explore how Beforus followed Alternia. If so; on Alternia everyone is expected to roleplay whiteness, but on Beforus/in act 6, more explicit racial stereotypes and metaphors start to emerge. (”Blue blood’s burden” + Aranea and her necklace, Meenah and Condesce’s aave, Kurloz’s Dr Facilier inspirations, more use of 'Chucklevoodoo', Rufioh stealing Dante Basco’s typing style, Damara’s uh, everything! And Kankri to top it all off with the concern that the new internet is just too darn preoccupied with this stuff, and don't you realize you're making me-- i mean everybody else-- feel self-conscious?) On Alternia we have things like Mindfang in a Spanish conquistador outfit, but it’s kind of noteworthy that there aren’t really Beforan Ancestors (or roleplaying games!) to speak of in the same way, so her antics feel almost wistful. I believe Karkat when he says the beta and alpha trolls are “almost genetically identical,” and it’s only the setting that changes.
This lead to mulling on "inversion" and how you can't invert a flat plane or a grey image. It's only areas of high contrast that get flipped. So what's familiar stays familiar and what's strange gets stranger still. Back in the old-school internet you avoided spectacle with roleplay-- working for Karkat, I guess.
I'm STILL writing backwards. Is it going too deep to unpack Terezi's "your name sounds kind of like game" as a call to Gamzee to engage in roleplay-- "you are the game itself?" That makes the reply of "you should ask Karkat, he likes games" very funny for both reasons. Their whole thing might just be them duking it out over Karkat's assimilation (and affection.)
It also means Equius and Terezi are having the same conversation in what they're asking Gamzee to roleplay. That would make Eridan's "STOP BELIEVING IN MAGIC" the third-time charm. I think Magic has obviously been a cypher for homosexuality & gender nonconformity in homestuck but Gamzee's magic is slime/miracles and then named/revealed to be voodoo after their heel-turn.
Between the jubilant cheers, outbursts of song, and dispersed chatter of nonsense one makes when speaking in tongues, Herbert concluded every one of these children must be on drugs.
He began noticing a common thread among the kids, aside from the shared trait of exhibiting clinically psychotic episodes. Most of them were armed with books. Children’s books. Tales of marvelous imagination and adventure, and above all, magic... That kid over there was wearing a billowing rainbow-patterned hat. It would almost look Rastafarian, if it weren’t so flagrantly homosexual. - Page 1 of Wizardy Herbert... for no reason at all.
I'm finally at the Sea-Goat because I wanted a clear explanation for why Caliborn shoots off gamzee's fake wings. Really obviously the sea-goat as the threat of something existing mid-way through metamorphosis or something transforming makes them transphobia bullets. But it’s specifically Caliborn who takes Karkat’s verbal condemnation and makes it a reality. It could be the narrative going “you had your chance!” (See visual aid.)
The whole montage where Gamzee's crush on Tavros was revealed --> Doc Scratch speaks with them reminds me of this, a bisexual character's exchange with a predatory wizard from the same book;
“Ah.” Thundleshick produced a stern look behind the tangled, fibrous crisis on his face. It was the demeanor of one charged with forming a grave diagnosis. “You know, my elder brother struggled with this very challenge. Attraction to flesh of one’s kind, it’s a troubling demon.”
“I was jus hoping you might have, like, a magical cure for it. Jus make it go away.”
The old magician stroked his beard, as one might do to ameliorate a high-strung shaggy dog. “I will see what I can do.”
//
“Yes, yes. Now point yourself at that door. Like this.” He modified his posture for him by the shoulders. “Now, boy, fill your mind with manly thoughts. Visions of burly clout. A roaring motorcycle. Professional wrestlers clutching each other’s muscles for dominance. A friendly lady fitted with a swimsuit. Oh, yes, yes.”
“Um, ok.”
“Now, through the door with you!”
Russet drew a breath. His feet felt welded to the floor. He knew the strength was in him to run. It was in his faith. His faith to let go and trust God, to set everything right. Soon it would be over.
He ran as fast as he could toward the chalk door. There was the sound of bone against brick. Russet bounced backwards and dropped to the floor unconscious.
The fat old Campmaster stooped over the boy and proceeded to pick his pockets.
There’s more I could say about this but it also speaks for itself.
Those posts abt The Tombs of Atuan also come to mind;
But I didn’t and still don’t like making a cult of women’s knowledge, preening ourselves on knowing things men don’t know, women’s deep irrational wisdom, women’s instinctive knowledge of Nature, and so on. All that all too often merely reinforces the masculinist idea of women as primitive and inferior – women’s knowledge as elementary, primitive, always down below at the dark roots, while men get to cultivate and own the flowers and crops that come up into the light. But why should women keep talking baby talk while men get to grow up? Why should women feel blindly while men get to think? -Ursula K Le Guin, from What Women Know
Is HS mad at Gamzee for the “voodoo” -- preening herself on the things Sburb doesn't know? Refusing to play the game as “talking baby talk?” After trying to make the post for hours all I've been able to get is putting a few quotes next to each other, so I guess take this as it is.

the ableism from the dancestors is crazy they just expect mituna to be their fucking doormat that they can say whatever they want to just because he has brain damage and act like hes the bad guy whenever he gets angry with them
i mean beforan society is crazy ableist in general with how the culling system works (upper classes basically adopting mutants/lower classes and treating them like pets in order to show off how much they "care" about them). like obviously mituna needs extra care and support but hes his own person!! with his own boundaries!! and they really need to respect and listen to him and just be patient
-🐝
Right and i was just remembering the first couple interactions from the trolls we see in the comic and we can kind of see that they for sure have a different way of communicating with friends than humans do (the way all of karkats pesterlogs with gamzee were just him insulting gamzee) but unlike the beta trolls the dancestors didnt grow up in an environment that required 24/7 hyper vigilance.... Like they are very much a product of their upbringings but it doesnt make the way they treat mituna any better

((also because meta essaying about troll genders and language is fun:
consider: troll languages being highly inflected, with grammatical markers to indicate things like different degrees of formality, the speaker's pronouns/gender, the audience's pronouns/gender, the relative gap in status between speaker and audience, and other things that English largely does not do.
(waxing so damn long-winded beyond the cut)
first: I am operating from a base headcanon of "trolls do not have any real distinguishing physical sexual characteristics between male and female. nook + bulge for everyone, baby. effectively 'male' and 'female' may not even exist in the ways that humans think about them, for trolls, but troll *gender* is a system heavily codified in expected societal roles and behavior. moreover, a bunch of human teens as first time observers were completely unprepared in the field of xenosociology, and probably made some really big mistaken assumptions about what troll genders mean, or are, or are signified by, and a bunch of troll teens probably didn't have the xenosociological chops to correct their misunderstandings.
second: troll gender is generally heavily influenced by the type of lusus. I originally had this headcanon of the biological sex of the lusus somehow affecting the hormone balance of the young troll, and playing a role in gender determination, but.... I don't like that so much now. it's not like the trolls would really have a concrete way to determine what biological sex random animals were, and with some animals, it's a struggle for trained professionals to figure that out without in-depth testing. so, new idea: it's not about the sex of the lusus, it's about the aggression level of the lusus. highly aggressive lusii tend to produce more aggressive trolls, and increased aggression, violence, and reactivity are definitely coded as feminine traits, for trolls. what if trolls, as they evolved from hive-structured social insectoids, operate on genders like 'soldier/guard' and 'worker', not 'male' and 'female'?
consider the canon trolls. Nepeta, Terezi, Vriska, and Feferi all have aggressive, dangerous *predators* as lusii. Aradia may be an exception, but we do not know much about the kangaram lusus, and it might be an aggressive type too--kangaroos can and do attack, and rams can be pretty damn aggressive. Kanaya is a special case: her societally imposed gender is not exactly 'girl', it's 'mothergrub-tender'. I'll come back to her later! out of the boys, Tavros, Equius, and Eridan have what *seem* to be calmer, quieter, less aggressive lusii, Gamzee's is absent and not really a formative influence on his behavior, and Sollux's is drugged into a stupor most of the time. Karkat's is distinctly excitable and aggressive in comparison, but he is off-spectrum, and falls outside the expected order of things, too. (does this mean Karkat is actually considered feminine by troll standards? it arguably could.)
third: coming back to the special case of Kanaya. I think it could be argued that 'jade' is a distinct gender, for trolls. there are specific roles for jadebloods, held by no one else, and the way they are treated and the standards they are held to are completely different from any other group or caste. on this note... jadebloods who reject their societal role? super GNC at the very least, and may consider themselves trans by troll standards. with Hussie's hamhanded handling of 'Beforan feminism', what if Porrim were advocating not for 'women's rights' but for 'jade rights', freedom for jadebloods to act outside the strictures of their very controlled gender-caste? it'd make a lot more sense under that lens, than somehow arguing simultaneously that the upper echelons and rulership of troll society are predominantly women, society idealizes and pressures trolls to conform to 'female' behaviors, and yet somehow troll women... are oppressed on the basis of being women? because the latter reads about as well as a meninist rant.
fourth: looping way back to language! consider a language in a heavily stratified, caste-based society, in which the statement "I am asking you to do X for me" carries a shit-ton of additional information, grammatically. a troll might use specific pronouns to indicate their gender (aggressor/soldier/fem or cooperator/worker/masc) as well as their caste position (low, mid, high, or even tyrian-supreme). they might do the same for the person they are speaking to. they might use honorific forms of verbs, or phrasing, depending on the caste gap.
a bronzeblood boy speaking to a purpleblood girl, might say "I (lowblood-masc) am asking (respectfully, low-to-high) you (highblood-fem) to do X (kindly, obligingly, as a favor) for me (lowblood-masc)".
the same purpleblood girl, addressing the bronzeblood boy, would say "I (highblood-fem) am asking (derogatorily, high-to-low) you (lowblood-masc) to do X (overtones of obligation, threat-of-death-if-noncompliant) for me (highblood-fem)".
fifth: now that I've gone through all of that, we know from some canon off-hand statements Sollux makes that he kind of doesn't get the big deal about hemocastes. so maybe he's colorblind? can't actually see those distinctions reliably? maybe instead/also, he spent so much time on the darkweb as a kiddo, talking with people who were hiding their caste/gender information and using very neutral language, that he automatically defaults to speaking the same way in face to face situations, and considers all those extra layers of grammatical structure as a tedious, pointless waste of time.
so Sollux, talking to anyone, is more like "I (anon-neutral) am asking (root-neutral) you (anon-neutral) to do X (root-neutral) for me (anon-neutral)", and probably a lot of more traditionally socialized trolls find that incredibly confusing/abrupt or even transgressive, because how are they supposed to categorize and refer to Sollux in their own speech, then??? new gender dropped, it's this fucking anonymous darkweb-nerd who talks like he's selling crypto.))

You know, I sometimes see people saying that the quadrants are artificial and/or problematic, like kismesissitude being inherently abusive or whatever, and maybe I'm stupid but I don't really see it? I mean sure, for humans it wouldn't work, but that's the thing: the trolls AREN'T human. They don't work like we do, and it seems like the quadrants are completely fine for them? I'm willing to consider that the ruthless regime of Alternia has maybe used and warped the quadrant system for its own goals, but I don't think it's supposed to be inherently dysfunctional, because then the Beforan trolls probably wouldn't be using it, right? Or was it screwed up and warped there also, but in a different way? Is there something I'm not getting here?
Kismesis for trolls, the way I see it, is something like a rivalry between two people. It's a match to often outdo the other, but you both see each other as equals in some sense. Can also be described as, "Hey! The only one who gets to talk shit about B, is me, A!" The feud between the individuals may go to things like verbal and physical abuse, but it is not to the point of death. Even if one or both party members are highblood trolls, death should not be the reaching point for this pitched romance. The reason why most think it is abuse is because of the involvement of things like the physical harm, despite that they are aliens with their own world thinking and should not be equated to human standards. Probably doesn't help that the well-known pitch romance tends to be Gamzee x Terezi, which is received negatively by fans once it hits [S] GAME OVER. There are other blackroms like we see in Spades Slick x Snowman, but I guess it isn't taken too seriously as others? But I also think the one time the hate-love went too far is with the Black Queen and Jack Noir that would lead to him taking the ring. There is Eridan and Vriska, who were once pitched together. The reason why some might dismiss it is because the whole Vriska is more of a lesbian than straight and Eridan tends to be a creep. But even after the breakup, the two still each other by their FLARP names. The only other reason I see Vriska breaking up is because upon learning about The Summoner and his connection with Tavros, she wanted to cut ties with Eridan to see that challenge herself and hope Tavros would become that new rival for her. John and Terezi is another example of it being pitch, but that is often because of him listening to Terezi to "fix" the timeline and the events that would be Epilogue and Homestuck^2. I'm not a fan of it if because that Terezi would still want Vriska as a friend despite all the shit she caused, abandoning all her other friends like Nepeta, Aradia, Sollux, and Karkat, and of course, I don't see John being always antagonistic to Terezi like she would towards him. At best, he could pull a few pranks at the teal, but I don't think he would go far to do something like physically harm her or be in a sort of rivalry with her for too long. It would be kind of interesting to see if a kismesis could work in a Homestuck fanwork. Maybe joke about how for the tsundere type character in Eastern Alternian animation (anime), it gets confusing on whether the romance is red or black. Trolls would see this in human's anime as well, questioning how is it really redrom if most of the buildup was pitched. But I suppose mutual rivalry is not going to be loved if two people slapping each other in the face in a silly flailing motion, is seen as sexual abuse to some people.

damara harsh momdom on alternia boytroll of choice?
Although he would never admit it, would never mention it to anyone but another highblood, Gamzee liked when lowblooded trolls didn't kneel and cower in respect. He liked when they snapped at him, like his sweet little palemate would, or when they brushed his comments off, like Tavros would. He would never tell anyone, because even he wasn't so stupid he would commit social suicide just after some of his friends had barely welcomed him onto the new planet.
So, the Beforans were exciting. They were exciting in the dreambubbles, but it was different on this new planet, in this time when things were just coming together. Most of them didn't want to talk with him much, which he understood, but Damara was... If not amicable, she talked to him. Most of her game didn't want to talk to her, and he didn't ask why. Not like he had room to talk, when Karkat was arguing about him even being allowed to be alive every other day.
She was friendly, in a way. Playfully insulting, calling him little boy and clownie. It made his pusher skip a beat.
The most shocking thing, though, was that she moved first. Gamzee liked to take his time before making a move; he had met Karkat when they were both two and a half sweeps old, and hadn't suggested pale until they were four (he thought about it almost immediately, but he didn't want to rush). But with Damara, the second time he came to his hive to smoke nip and ignore him, she shoved him to the floor and climbed on top of him.
At that point, he stopped trying to act like he wasn't into it, into her treating him like he wasn't anything special, since she obviously realized anyway. Once he admitted it, with her hand tangled in his hair while he half-sobbed into the pillows on his couch and she fucked him hard enough he almost bruised, she came over more often.
"No labels. I don't want to get attached again." Damara said, every time. He could live with it.
The other thing, much more surprising, was that she didn't even blink when he begged her to let him call her mommy. It was weird, something he learned from the humans, of all people, but he couldn't stop himself from wanting it. And, as a nice bonus, she never complained. If she didn't like something, she told him, and he never asked for it again.
"Please." He breathed. He twitched, hands curled into fists on his knees. She was slouched on the couch, eyes on her phone. Well, he assumed they were. Her knee was over his shoulder, her skirt over his head. She scratched his horn, and he whimpered, oversensitive. "Mommy, please. Please."
She had, easy as anything, stripped her panties off as soon as she walked in, dropping them lazily on the floor, and directed he kneel in front of her. Now, as disgusting as the thought made him feel, he could smell her nook, but wasn't allowed to move. "Why should I?" A video started playing on her phone, and he whined.
"I'll be good. I'll do so good, mommy, please." He shivered, leaned forward by an inch, and she flicked his horn. "Please, please, please, pl--"
Damara's hand in his hair pulled him back fast enough he got dizzy, and then the pain hit him and he whined. "Stop begging like that. Did you even seal paint?" Her eyes traced the barely-covered scars on his face slowly, and he struggled not to cover his face.
"Yes, mommy. Sorry, 'm sorry." He was whining, and crept his hand forward to wrap around her ankle, his wrist resting on the top of her foot. "I'm just, I'm so fuckin', I need it, please."
For a second, Damara looked thoughtful, as though she was going to just leave; and maybe she would, it wasn't like Gamzee was about to try and keep her without her permission. They weren't anything. "Fine. Do good and I'll let you spill." Her hand stayed tangled in his hair, and he barely had a second to think before she shoved his face against her nook.
He dropped his jaw, licking into her nook with a moan. His hand slid up her calf, to hold her thigh, and let himself focus on her taste and her deep, low voice as she told him he was a good boy. It made the skin on his head feel like it was crawling, in a strangely pleasant way, as well as her nails scratching over it. His bulge writhed angrily in his pants, but he ignored it. She would just get annoyed if he did anything with it.
Damara's bulge twisted against his cheek, over his lips while he pressed the flat of his tongue against her pleasurenub. Her moans were starting to get louder, more genuine than reactive, and he shuffled closer to chase them. This was, after all, the closest he had ever gotten to kissing her, and the more he did it, the more he wanted to kiss her.
Maybe he would ask her for it later, if he got a reward.
Time lost all meaning when he was with Damara, when she was easily, happily bending him to her will, so he jumped and almost stopped what he was doing when her foot pressed against his bulge. She pressed hard enough that it hurt, but not so hard he wanted her to stop, and once he was used to it, he rolled his hips against the pressure anyway.
"Good little slut. So good for mommy." She cooed, curling some of his hair behind his ear. Her voice was warm, resonating in his skull, and he shook as he spilled, so suddenly he couldn't even try to stop it. "Oh?"
He whimpered, and tried to keep licking her nook, but she pulled him back, the same hand that had been so soothing just a moment before pulling his scalp away from his skull. "N-no, please, I'm sorry, please, mommy." He could feel tears burning at the corners of his eyes.
"You're sorry? You made a mess, slut." Damara's voice was steely, and she pressed against his bulge again. "Clean it. Now."
Gamzee sniffled and blinked tears down his cheeks as he nodded, leaning down to wipe his material off her foot. It wasn't that bad, but he had messed up, and now she would never want to kiss him, he knew it.
"No. Mouth." She said, curt. Her glare was withering on the way he clutched his shirt in his fist, until he dropped it, and nearly laid on the floor to reach. "Show how sorry you are."
The rust of her prematerial smeared, mixed with the purple of his, as he licked the side of her foot. He had done worse, of course, and knew that she was probably cleaner than he was, but it felt different to have her over him. Her bulge pushed her skirt up, without his mouth to occupy it, and he had to look away. It didn't take much, since his switch back to sweats after the game saved him from the strangely thin material of his god-tier fit, but he was still face down, panting like a dog at the end of it.
"Good boy. Come up." She barely finished speaking before he was following her order, crawling into her lap with another muted sob. She wiped, carefully, the tears off his face, and pressed two fingers into his mouth. "Good. You did good. You want a kiss?"
He whined, nodding around the fingers in his mouth. Damara grinned, leaned forward, and spat into his mouth, ending it with a drag of her tongue over his top lip.
"Do better next time, then."

Hope vs Rage: My Two Cents
The relationship between the Hope aspect and the Rage aspect is one that fascinates me, because as far as I’m aware these are aspects that are very easy to misunderstand (though, a lot of aspects are easy to misunderstand in general). I believe this is largely due to what it is we have to glean from in canon material.
The first introduced player of each aspect we get are Gamzee and Eridan respectively, a Bard and a Prince, destructive classes that both wield their aspect and ghost their opposite aspect.
One interpretation I’ve seen around is that Hope is associated with holy powers, and even religion, while Rage is associated with demonic forces, cults, destruction and the like. The idea comes from how angels are directly associated with the Hope aspect, both with Eridan and Jake English, while Gamzee on the other hand is in a sort of juggalo cult.
Now bare with me here, but I think this is only partly right, in my opinion.
Hope is commonly associated with holy powers, but it’s my theory that it is just as equally associated with demonic ones. Hope is the instrument of BELIEF, something that is necessary for both the holy and demonic, and the thing that drives both religions and cults alike, faith itself. Hell, even the angels of LOWAA themselves are described as "awful feathery demons". Gamzee’s place as the last living member of a clown religion is a form of him ghosting his opposite aspect, Hope. He is shown to truly follow his belief in it.
Inversely, we see the opposite embodied in Eridan. The opposite of belief, after all, isn’t “belief in something supposedly a lot more evil”, it’s DISBELIEF. Rage is everything that Hope is not, it isn’t a dark evil inverse of Hope.
Gods and demons alike are something you have to believe in for them to hold any power over you, Rage is refusing to let them hold any power over you.
Eridan is aggressively atheist, he staunchly refuses to believe in anything that doesn’t have a traditional scientific explanation. He doesn’t believe in magic even as he’s holding it in his hand, referring to it as "white science", and his first response upon meeting a land of supernatural entities is to kill them all indiscriminately.
He is a force of destruction all around, being that he's either destroying Hope (which leaves Rage, an aspect already generally associated with destruction) or he's destroying THROUGH Hope (either as a concept or by using a beam of literal holy light energy).
Though the more I think of it, describing it as exclusively the aspect of "destruction" feels a bit misleading. In some cases that'd be apt in a more literal sense, but in some that makes it sound a lot more sinister than it actually is.
I think a better word to describe it in a less antagonistic setting is actually "deconstruction".
Belief is an element of construct. If it doesn't exist physically but you believe in it, it is considered a concept. So the opposite of that would really be deconstruction. You can deconstruct physical things, but you can deconstruct non-physical ideas as well.
Neither Hope nor Rage are inherently more good or evil than the other (I'm disregarding the True Sign quiz). Our first introduced examples for each are both antagonists, and the same principle of evil applies to their Beforan counterparts (though in very different ways). I think this is important to both aspects, that either is just as capable of bad as it is good.
I personally think Hope and Rage make a lot more sense as aspects when you view them both as an extension of or response to suffering, but that's an essay for another day.
