The word humility is related to humus, which means 'dust' or 'earth.' In ancient times a humble person could be seen bowing at the feet of someone great, acknowledging that person's power and lordship. In that respect, the humble person was close to the ground--literally in the dust. This sounds degrading to us, but let's not forget where the word human comes from. God says to Adam in Genesis 3:19: 'For dust you are and to dust you will return.' God crafted Adam from the dust of the earth, and upon Adam's death that's what became of his body. We humans are no strangers to dust.

I love how the mentality that's been pushed lately on social media has been one of "being in your you era" or "entering your villain era" or worst of all "not owing anyone anything" which, as I've mentioned in a previous post, is nothing more than the same hyper-individualistic self-isolation, and apathetic mindset that many gymbros participate in that's simply being repackaged and marketed femininely as "self-care".

Meanwhile, and not to sound like I'm "not like other girls", the mindset I've been in has been one that's completely the opposite in which I seek to strip myself of any and all egoistic tendencies, while simultaneously looking towards those who are very talented and skillful but are low-key and humble about it as inspiration for what I one day aspire to be.

You know, it would be amazing if Hollywood learned the right lesson from the success of Nimona. Something like "Hey, maybe don't throw out a nearly done movie as a tax write off" or "people want queer stories" or even "don't be afraid to take some storytelling risks and be original" but you just know they're going to come away with some absolutely batshit takeaway like, "next time delete all the evidence and burn it to the ground so the gays can't make us look bad!"
