Israeli security was synonymous with Jewish security. Ben-Gurion himself said:
It was always my view that we have to consider the interests of diaspora Jewry—any Jewish community that was concerned. But there is one crucial distinction—not what they think are their interests, but what we regard as their interests. If it was a case vital for Israel, and the interests of Jews concerned were different, the vital interests of Israel came first— because Israel is vital for world Jewry.
It was this principle that lay behind Israel’s policy of supplying arms to Argentina during the years 1976 to 1983 when that country was ruled by a military junta, a brutal regime which, as part of its ‘dirty war’, persecuted, detained and ‘disappeared’ an estimated total of 30,000 left-wing activists, of whom 2,000 were Jews.

Despite the many amazing innovations beginning life in the Jewish State every week, there's a sense that Israelis have only just got started and there is so much more positive news yet to come. Every medical article this week is groundbreaking. FMT cancer treatment that started in Israel is now in global trials. Israeli scientists have manipulated malignant leukemia cells to "start again" as normal cells. Two Israeli startups have partnered to detect ALS before it gets started. And for emergency treatment, Israel's new ER hospital uses the latest technology right from the start. 1,500 US doctors use Israeli software to review patients' data before they start a diagnosis. An Israeli has started a new psychological first-aid course. Israel is funding new immigrant doctors to start their Israeli careers where they are most needed. And athletes at Israel's Maccabiah registered their donor stem cells to give blood cancer sufferers the chance of a new start in life.
Read about other Israeli new starts - Haifa's cable car; earthquake prediction system; electric walk-in van; robot packers and companions; Eilat's Ramon Airport; El-Al's new routes; and Apple's new Jerusalem R&D center. Plus the first Israeli-Saudi business deal; the first Israeli student to win a UK BAFTA award; and the first Israeli global environmental "Hope Spot".  Let's get the world to start taking notice of Israel!
The photo is of the display of local innovators at Ben Gurion Airport, that inspires Israelis just when they get started on their journeys to make the world a better place.

🇮🇱 … aha!! The Natives are the problem!! It’s TRUE!! — I’d read something about this canal before!! Always — follow the money!! — greed and power!!
By: LaillaB, founder of ‘Reclaim the Narrative’, from LinkedIn …
“Israel’s Mossad represents itself as being among the finest intelligence gatherers and infiltrators in the world.
How did Oct 7th happen?
If Israel were to be targeted by a nation-state, it could be considered a legitimate act of war. However, an attack carried out by those living under a settler colonial, apartheid and military occupation cannot be justified under any legal defense, certainly not in the case of self-defense.
It doesn’t exist!!
“Follow the money.”
Discoveries of natural gas in the Levant Basin are in the range of 122 trillion cubic foot while recoverable oil is estimated at 1.7 billion barrels, according to the study, entitled “The Economic Cost of Occupation for the Palestinian People: The Unrealised Oil and Natural Gas Potential.”
Egypt’s President Gamal Abdel Nasser tore up the European Suez Company concession and transferred the canal’s operation to the state-owned Suez Canal Authority.
Access to the Suez Canal was closed to all international shipping in 1956, following the Tripartite Aggression against Egypt, which involved an alliance between Israel, the UK and France who sought to regain control of the Suez Canal and remove Nasser from power.
When all land trade routes were blocked by Arab states, Israel’s ability to trade with East Africa and Asia, to import oil from the Persian Gulf, was severely hampered.
The prospect for the Ben Gurion Canal envisioned to enhance commercial and energy flows from South Asia to the Persian Gulf and onward to the Mediterranean, ultimately extending its reach into Europe. Netanyahu even went as far as marking this route in red pen at a UN assembly. Did you spot Palestine?
**What does it have to do with 7 Oct?
It just so happens that Gaza is slap bang in the middle of the proposed path, also blessed with a wealth of oil and natural gas. ka-ching! — 💸
Yes, Tel Aviv already has a name for the canal which was first proposed back in the 1960’s. It would be named after the first prime minister of Israel. David Grün from Poland and Executive head of the World Zionist Organisation.
If it goes ahead, this canal will be almost one-third longer than the 193.3 km Suez Canal, at around 292.9 km and an estimated cost of $16 and $76bn.
With Gaza razed, it would enable the colonisers to reduce costs by diverting the canal straight through the middle.
Around 12% of the world’s trade passes through Suez, so you can imagine the queues lining up for a slice of cake.
The only obstacle preventing the Ben Guiron Canal from being revived and rubber-stamped is the presence of … the natives.
**For Netanyahu, this project may earn him forgiveness for the intelligence and military failures on 7 Oct. — #Colonizers …
But, if this is all being done in the name of potential lucrative trade deals then it compounds the political and diplomatic disgrace of the shameless Western governments who are complicit in the genocide.

A huge mural, measuring 50 metres in length and 5 metres high was unveiled at Ben Gurion airport yesterday. The mural, entitled 'Am Yisrael Chai', depicts 4,000 years of Jewish history. It tells the story of the Jewish people from the creation of Adam to the creation of the modern State of Israel, the exodus from Egypt, the First and Second Temples, the Prophets and Kings, the exodus of Jews to the Diaspora, and carries all the way through to the Holocaust, the Zionist vision and the establishment of the modern State of Israel, the wars it has fought and its incredible innovation and growth.

A stranger in an unusual land. (The Odd Blog comes home)
I contemplate who and where and what I am. Past and present blur. Alka-Seltzer may be required.
Last night as our plane touched down at Ben Gurion Airport, we landed in Israel. It’s been four years since my last visit. Covid and life got in the way. There is a whole story behind my visit (that led to an Easter excursion to Iceland). I have been wondering about my indigenous nature. When we talk of indigenous peoples, mostly, we consider the sense in which they are connected to their…
