"If you had a friend who had no interest in writing, and they try to write and write better than you, a masterpiece. What would you do? If you had read and written and worked insanely hard and they are just so naturally talented that they are able to produce something so incredible. What would you do? Would you accept the difference between heaven and earth, a la prodigy and benchplayer? Would you retreat to the belief it is just luck or chance, that there are no masterpieces argument, or would deny it completely and ignore the difference and trudge onwards"
~YouTube, don't remember which video sorry. Quote is changed from orginal.

The Amber effect 😉 but even when she came on the reading away game she was also immense kind of made me wonder why we didn’t bring her on against Chelsea for the last 10 mins especially as we can’t seem to score many at the moment
We got so so lucky that Jen stayed and completely embraced her role as benchplayer. She is an immense player with so much valuable experience, esp for all the younglings, she can just come of the bench and slot into the role needed from her for that last 20 minutes.
Jen's downfall as starter has been that she didnt gel well with Lotte in the beginning. But she loves that she gets responsibility off the field and the chance to grow as a staff member.

Adding 2 cents of roster thoughts
Vlatko should have kept Ashlyn. If this stands he will have Naeher + 2 somewhat inexperienced goalies with him to Japan! Ashlyn has more experience in spite of just short of 30 caps. And is in the shape of her life! She has played big games, high pressure games since very early in her life. And if not for any other reason; for being a very loyal benchplayer and teammate.
Lloyd and Williams has not done much of late, not in the USWNT or in their league teams. Andy Sullivan has not been herself since the injury.
Purce as a defender? No! What a waste!
Sophia Smith has never impressed me, she disappears in games, is inexperienced and feels like a desperate choice from Vlatko to escape criticism on the age of the team.
As for Ali Krieger’s absence; I can understand that a bit easier than Ashlyn’s. Still a very good player, don’t get me wrong! But I noticed in the last game Ali played that Vlatko was yelling at her several times during the game and that she corrected her position each time. Maybe he just don’t think she fits in. But if you get injuries in the defense line, Ali is THE player to have around. Her versatility and experience outweighs everything else. So it is a mistake not to have her around.
And if it is true that Ash & Ali got no communication from Vlatko about this, it’s a disgrace! And does not bode well for his leadership. Treat your players with respect and they will respect you!
I hope Brazil (for Marta!) can win in Japan. IF the Games happen! Or why not my home country; Sweden.

👋🏿Raise your hand if you’ve ever been on the bench in sports or in life? * * * When the game is cancelled everyone gets benched. And when the game goes on people still get benched. * * * Regardless of why it happens-more often than not it’s not our favorite thing. So what does one do? * * * When we are on the bench it’s the perfect time for reflection, resting, prepping or working. And you have to decide how you’ll spend that time. * * * Schools closing, seasons shutting down, people being sent home from work. Contracts lingering that no one wants to move on. So much uncertainty. * * * And so many people who’ve never sat on the bench before have been forced there. * * * Do what is necessary and what makes sense to find a way to thrive through it. And if you’re doing okay and you’ve got a plan and things under control, consider coaching and helping out the rest of the bench. * * * What is happening now will have an impact on all of us in some way or another and some will be hit harder than others. * * * Pray for the sick, for those mourning their losses, those who are dealing with fear, job loss, and trying to figure out the space we are in. * * * We don’t have to gather together, or be in the starting line up of the game at all-one of the most important things we can certainly do is share our human- right from the bench. * * * #shareyourhuman #shareyourhumanity #fromthebench #benchplayers #ridingthebench #coachfromthebeach #feelyourfeelings #spreadkindness #selftalk #useyourtimeforgood #shareyourhuman #shareyourcompassion #shareyourcalm #benchwarmers #fridayfeelings #getupandthrive https://www.instagram.com/p/B9rh8fzH1GA/?igshid=1afrvweo8aod4

It turns out Jamie Vardy was not the only member of Leicester City’s legendary title winning team who Arsene Wenger wanted at Arsenal.
Speaking to France Football, 2015/16 PFA Player of the Year Riyad Mahrez has admitted that he was far from happy when it transpired that The Foxes had blocked a dream move to the Emirates – some two years before he joined Manchester City in a club-record £60 million transfer.
And if Mahrez was already unpopular among some Leicester fans for the way he tried to force a move out of the King Power Stadium, these comments won’t do his reputation any good whatsoever.
What’s that smell? Oh, it’s just bridges being burned.
"For me, it is clear that I lost two years at the very highest level. I lost two years,” Mahrez fumes. “Leicester blocked me. They told me: ‘You do not go, you do not go!’
“My agent had talked with Wenger who really wanted me, it was almost done with Arsenal in the summer of 2016. I was really frustrated.”
Now a two-time Premier League winner with Manchester City, Mahrez hasn’t struggled for silverware at the Etihad.
The downside, however, is that he is merely a talented squad player these days, rather than the undisputed talisman he became at Leicester and could have become at Arsenal. Mahrez was left on the bench as City lost 3-1 to Liverpool on Sunday, falling nine points adrift of the early league leaders.
Not that the winger will look down on Arsenal, eight points worse off and stuck in sixth, and wish he was wearing red and white instead.
Mannnnnnn imagine Lacazette alexis ozil mahrez ffs

I wanted Mahrez at Arsenal sooooo bad, you don’t understand https://t.co/4nX3adNxkh
— Drew (@ftblDrew) November 11, 2019
Mahrez should be thankful that he got saved from clutches of Emery else, he would have been playing Right-back at Arsenal... https://t.co/dUSZeQhMSN

I need to give mad mad mad props to professional photographer @steveboylephoto for once again capturing Noele and I in an amazing way for our new band @nomadsnatives album. Steve usually works with NBA superstars, but he took time to work with us D-League/JV/BenchPlayers. I'm so proud of his accomplishments in the field and count it Blessed to work with him and to be his friend (and to have played tennis with him in High School). Love ya Steve! #photography #band #music #albumart #blackandwhite #philly #northpennhighschool #Nomads+Natives

How Adult Soccer Bench Players Elevate Your Team's Performance
Tumblr media
The Role of Bench Players in Adult Soccer
‍As an adult soccer team captain, I have always believed that every player on the team has a role to play both on and off the field, this includes adult soccer bench players. These are the players who may not start the game but are ready to step in when needed. In this article, I will discuss the importance of bench players in adult soccer, the benefits of utilizing them, strategies for effectively utilizing them, training and development for bench players, overcoming challenges, building a cohesive team dynamic, and the impact of bench players on team performance. So, let's dive in and unlock the potential of soccer bench players! In the world of soccer, the starting lineup gets all the glory. Starters are cheered on by the crowd, featured in the headlines, and remembered for their goals and assists. However, a team's success is not solely dependent on the starting lineup. Bench players, also known as substitutes, play a crucial role in supporting the team's goals. They provide depth, versatility, and a fresh perspective to the game. A strong bench is a valuable asset for any soccer team. Especially true in older adult soccer teams. It gives me flexibility in making tactical decisions, allows for strategic substitutions, and provides a safety net in case of injuries or fatigue. Adult bench players need to be prepared mentally and physically to step into the game at a moment's notice. They must stay engaged, analyze the game, and be ready to make an impact when called upon.
