Embrace the natural curvature of your spine.
A common pelvic misalignment may occur with the cue “bellybutton to spine” especially in lying positions. Tucking the pelvis during abwork, rollups rolldowns or bridging (to name a few) may result in overengagement of the more external musculature such as rectus abdominis (aka six pack) and glute muscles (especially gluteus Maximus) causing the delicate hip flexors to shorten as well. Over time this pelvic tuck will result in a poor compressed body posture with an array of chronic lower back and hip issues.
Instead connect to the deep muscular layers of the body.
The diaphragm + pelvic floor duo along with the transverse abdominis are our delicate support system that overtime will allow our external armor to soften and become more flexible.
How about untucking your pelvis and unclenching those glute muscles?
Let’s spread our sitting bones and the dome of our diaphragm!

Take the same movements as part 3 (previous post, slide 2). The bolster will give the torso more lift, which will change where the effort is in the pose. A rolled-up blanket at the hips (in comparison to the bolster used in the previous pose) allows for deeper hip flexion by bringing the thighs even closer to the chest.
