Одна из излюбленных фишек программистов BeOS.
Tumblr media
Линковка библиотек(статическая, динамическая) 🫠
Вообще полезная штучковина, просто представьте что у вас для каждой программы свое монолитное пространство + Power On BeOS/Haiku-OS
{здесь была удалена плесень}

chasing that feeling
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: beomgyu x f reader
tags: smut (18+), toxic relationship hehe 😿, semi public sex, pet names (baby, angel)
w/c: 770+
Tumblr media
all of your friends hate your trashy boyfriend beomgyu.
you can't really blame them though ... he kinda sucks. canceled on you last minute two weeks ago; soobin was the unfortunate soul who had to console you over the phone, watching you as your eyes watered up in your pretty pink dress, fat tears rolled down your blush painted cheeks.
beomgyu tried to make it up with you with flowers the next day, 'cept he forgot that your favorites are daisies and got you roses instead. you keep telling yourself that it's the thought that counts.
taehyun's always asking you why you keep goin' back ... you don't have the heart to tell him the real reason.
you don't have the goddamn dignity to admit that it's because after everything—all the tears, all the shut doors, all the "gyu, i'm done's"—you always manage to end up in the same position—
"oh fuck, angel," beomgyu grunts from behind you, pelvis slamming into the softness of your ass. "this cunt's s'tight—shit, angel you're suckin' me in," he murmurs, sinking his fat cock in so deep you gasp loudly, lurching over the bathroom sink.
you don't even wanna think about how you got here; you were standing in front of the pub for almost half an hour, waiting for beomgyu who promised he'd be there fifteen minutes earlier, and right when you made the decision to take the high road and head home in defeat, he was running down the street with sweat beading down his forehead.
maybe you shouted at him a little. cried a little. tried to walk away. told him to go home aline. told him you don't deserve this.
beomgyu thought different, of course, and a hand on your wrist soon turned into a tug and suddenly you find yourself pressed against the counter in the tiny bathroom of the pub, skirt pushed over your ass and panties shoved to the side.
"love this pussy so fuckin' much," he groans, pulling his hips back so his cock slips out halfway before sloppily shoving it back in. one of his hands holds a steady grip on your hip, the other trailing up your back and finding purchase on your neck, just below jaw so that his index and middle fingers can hook upwards and into your mouth.
unconsciously, your lips wrap around them, tongue swiping over the pads of his fingers as you try not to lose yourself in the feeling of all the pretty veins and curves of his cock pressing up against your hot, tight walls.
"beo-beomgyu we can't—oh," you moan quietly, closing your lips around the rough pads of his fingers once more in hopes to keep your noise level down when he jams his cock further inside of you, grinding into you so that his balls rub against your clit. "can't be loud," you manage to gasp out when he gives you a second of peace, stilling inside of you once he's bottomed out.
"'nd why's that baby?" beomgyu mutters, fingers around your hips digging in further when he gifts you another powerful thrust. "seems like we're both havin' fun ... aren't we?" his voice is low and raspy, and you're trying—you're trying so fucking hard not to get lost but it only takes you a few seconds to give in and relent.
beomgyu's ramming into you now; fingers slipped out of your mouth a few moments ago so he could situate both hands on your waist and pull your warm, dripping back into him so the tip of his dick kisses your cervix with every messy thrust.
there's a mix of both your arousal every where now, but as your eyes begin to roll to the back of your head and beomgyu begins moaning your name in small huffs—telling you that you're the "best fuckin' angel alive ..,,, prettiest thing in the world when you're being fucked with his cock ...,," that he "can't get enough of you" ....
you don't even know why you bother trying to fight it anymore. no matter how many tears, no matter how many long nights of arguments where you tell yourself it'll be the last, no matter how many hours you waste waiting for him ... you'll always chase the feeling of his hot breath fanning down on your neck when he finally leans over, murmuring 'bout how he's "gonna cum baby, cum w'me please ..."
and of course you do, because beomgyu might be a trashy boyfriend, but he's your boyfriend, and you have no plans on letting him go.

From the send me a prompt for one muse to find the other in the following situation meme
( feverish ) : suffering from a high fever and severely ill
Sam, Alan, or Dyson is (are?) sick because unfortunately I'm indecisive (I'm sorry)
@occupationallyhazardous
Truth be told, Ed wasn't entirely certain how he got into the current situation, except that he had. He wasn't even entirely certain what the situation was, if he was honest, and he didn't want to think about the only conclusion that made sense in this situation.
He should have been back at home, enjoying the evening being trounced at Mario Kart on the Wii by Beo. Except he'd said something wrong (he wasn't entirely sure what; he hadn't yet had time to reflect on anything that had happened ) and Beo bolted out the door.
Ed chased em to Flynn's old arcade (no surprise that Beo had managed to break in, e'd picked the lock on Ed's front door enough times before he adopted em), and down into the secret laboratory in the basement (no surprise there, either... either that Flynn had said secret basement lab, or that Beowulf somehow managed to find it). Beo had immediately been intrigued by the literal desktop computer with the running timer. Ed had been shocked at seeing that desk, since he'd seen it precisely once before when he was four. He hadn't realized what Beo was doing (remind him why he thought teaching Beowulf coding was a good idea, again?) until he heard the laser power up behind him (dear god, Flynn, why the hell was there a Laser pointed directly at the desk chair?), and by then it was too late.
They were met almost immediately by Flynn (He was in hell, wasn't he? That's what this place was, a special circle of hell, just for him), wearing a long flowing robe with a glowing yellow pattern on it, and a compliment of soldiers in suits with glowing red lines.
Long story short, he told Beo to run, and tried to hold them off. They captured him, he escaped Flynn and the terrifying other that sounded suspiciously like Alan (This is revenge for that time his father kidnapped Alan, wasn't it?), and made his way to the barren snowy wasteland outside the city. He stumbled into a cavern he'd managed to find to hide in, and nearly stumbled over what he at first assumed was a dead body.
He shrieked, but then realized the person had faintly glowing red lines on his suit, and when he reached down to feel for a pulse, the body was hot. Feverishly hot.
"S—sorry," he stuttered, exhausted and precariously staving off the oncoming panic by the need to locate Beowulf and make sure e was safe.
Ed's first instinct was to leave. If this was one of Flynn's minions, then he should leave before he was either murdered or brought back to Flynn for more death games. (What the hell, Flynn? What made you think that emulating the Roman Empire was a good idea?)
If Ed left, he would surely die.
(Damn it, he couldn't leave without Flynn finding him; and he had nowhere to go. Damn it, he couldn't just let a stranger die. Ed didn't even know for certain if he was one of Flynn's minions.)

I think about Beo a lot, she's one of my favorite characters in Signalis (to be fair you could point at literally any character or Replika in signalis and I could tell you why they are my favorite) She's actually how I first learned about Signalis. I remember seeing a little fanart comic of Elster talking to Beo and it made me curious and even now she's stuck in my brain. I had kind of forgotten about her by the time I played the game myself but when I did get there... oh it just hit me. It's heartbreaking how sweet and selfless she is as she's dying alone in the tunnels. Somehow this is made even worse by how big she is and the fact that we've fought and killed a Mynah already to get this far. What we fought before felt massive in a terrifying way and here she's.... just dying slowly despite her size and power. I've always liked the idea that Beo was her old name, her Gestalt name, and she was at peace with who she was even as she knew she was dying. That the nature of her work meant she confronted her old identity but it never disrupted her, that she kept being the machine they wanted from her, to the point that she thinks that she doesn't deserve help and isn't worth fixing even as she bleeds out alone. Its deeply tragic. I remember having such a deep wish when I found her to help her somehow or comfort her. I actually went back to get healing items to see if I could try and fix her somehow, and wondered if there maybe wasn't some stuffed animal item you could find to give to her because of the entry that says they liked stuffed animals.

Wait Touko has Beowulf as a familiar? Like Beowulf the dude?
Nah, Beowulf is a werewolf named after the dude.
The story goes that an isolated werewolf clan deep in a forest in Europe found a child asleep on the ground, as if born from the Earth itself rather than any parent. The child was different from the others, born with incredible strength and golden fur.
Realizing that the strange child was a werewolf that was on the level of their once powerful ancestors, the werewolves named him Lugh Beowulf, after the sun god and the legendary hero.
How or why a phantasmal beast from the Age of Gods was born in the modern era with his power intact is never explained, but due to the clans' isolation he lived a very boring, caged life. Then one day Touko visited the werewolf village and offered Beowulf a contract: Beowulf would serve as her familiar and carry out her orders, and in exchange he would get to test his might against all sorts of supernatural enemies around the world. Touko also offered her hair to the clan in order to buy off Beowulf's freedom, which is why her hair is shorter than Aoko's.
Before the events of Mahoyo, Touko and Beowulf traveled the world, going on all sorts of adventures to test just how powerful Beo really is. At least one of these included defeating the curse of the Bermuda triangle.
In Kara No Kyoukai, Touko makes a reference to Beowulf when she hires Shiki, saying that Shiki would serve as a replacement for her previous familiar.

I've missed seeing Richard and Buppy. Two little goof balls
What kinds of antics are they getting into?
Tumblr media
funny that you ask cause i'm working on their story rn, problem is it's a mystery and i know nothing about writing mysteries. richard is the primary, and really only, suspect of a series of magical explosions so he's taken into custody but released cause they have no way of proving it was him, but due to the fact he's the only powerful mage around they slap a gps collar on him that also tracks if he's using any magic and will tranq him if he uses too much magic at once. mages are very rare in this world and it's even rarer for one to be powerful so richard is kinda recruited to help find the true culprit. Beo (formerly Buppy) is tasked with watching over richard to make sure he doesn't do anything funny which seems like overkill but beo really doesn't trust mages and thinks they're unnatural/freaks of nature and doesn't really like richard and really hopes he's the culprit
I've changed richard's last name and buppy's name is now Beo Brookwood. also Beo is still a dog person
their story is a mystery with a side thing going of beo falling for richard i'm just not really a writer so who knows if it'll ever get written

Steven was still processing what he had heard earlier. Him fusing with the Diamonds? Perish the thought! Sure, he was always up for helping others, even former enemies. Still, after all that the Diamonds had done to him, his family, and most of the known universe, it was way more challenging for Steven to accept that they were coming to him for help rather than him coming to them. He needed some time to think about this while everyone was preparing for the final battle with Squamata.
"So now they want my help after all they've done to me?" Steven angrily muttered to himself while pacing around the throne room. "Oh sure, I've allowed Black Rutile to repent, but it's going to take more than just saying sorry to make up for thousands of years' worth of genocide!"
"Problems, Steven?" Inner Steven asked from within Steven's mind. "Frankly, I'm quite surprised that those Diamonds are asking you for help for once instead of you asking them. And they couldn't have picked a worse time to do it, too."
"And now I have to fuse with them in order to save the universe!" Steven agreed with his darker half. "While I'm more than happy to find a way to stop Squamata once and for all, I'm not sure how this can work, given all my baggage!"
"Worst case scenario, the fusion fails astronomically, and we all die." Inner Steven proclaimed. "Just being realistic here. But then again, no one ever listens to the darker impulses of the self. And speak of the devil. Look who it is!"
Just then, Black Rutile stepped into the throne room, obviously still adjusting to her reforming into a Crystal Gem after sacrificing herself to protect Steven. In addition to the blank spot where her diamond symbol once was now being filled by the star of a Crystal Gem, Black Rutile's cape was now replaced with an all-white trenchcoat with pink details and a star on the back, dark gray trousers, and her original green visor to replace her red one.
"Hello again, Steven." Black Rutile awkwardly greeted. "It's me again, Black Rutile. I always come back and all that. Something the matter?"
"Go ahead; I'm sure you can trust her now." Inner Steven advised while figuratively shoving Steven towards his former enemy. "If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together."
"So, Black Rutile, how are you adjusting to things?" Steven asked Black Rutile.
"I'm slow to adjust, like always." Black Rutile replied. "Love the new look, though. So, you have to fuse with the Diamonds to save reality, huh?"
"Exactly." Steven added sourly. "You know how fusions must involve total cooperation between its components to stay fused? Yeah, I don't think that's possible between me and the Diamonds."
"I can totally understand where you're coming from." Black Rutile stated. "I felt utterly betrayed by the Diamonds, too, but if they could give me a second chance, then surely you can do the same to them!"
"But you're different!" Steven exclaimed to his now-former enemy. "You were at least able to recognize that you hurt me and are working to make amends for that. They're focusing more on everybody else they hurt and always act like they've been friends with me from the beginning!"
"You're kind of vindicating one of the reasons I hated you right now." Black Rutile snarked. "The universe doesn't have to revolve around you, you know! You have to consider everyone else in this world, too!"
"Yeah, maybe I can be selfish, but at least I don't have an entire planet forced to worship me, or else they'll die!" Steven argued. "Why can't they just focus on what they did to me for once?!"
"Because it's not as simple as you think, Steven." Black Rutile stated with her arms folded. "This kind of stuff gets messy, and everybody's got issues, especially the Diamonds." She then looked down at where her diamond symbol used to be, nostalgically reminiscing on her time as a member of White Diamond's court. "And sometimes, they screw up. But that doesn't mean they won't just pretend like it didn't happen." Black Rutile offered a tender pat on Steven's shoulder. "Try to cut the Diamonds some slack. They may not always get it right, but they're trying. That's more important than you think."
"Wait, I think I got an idea!" Steven exclaimed in realization while he ignored Black Rutile. "What if I don't need to fuse with the Diamonds to save us all?!"
"You have got to be kidding me." Black Rutile grumbled with a facepalm. "Okay, fine, let's see whatever harebrained scheme you have, I guess."
--
"I admire that you made me take time out of my schedule to bring me here, Steven, but what is this for?" the Lapidarist asked as she sat in front of Steven, Black Rutile, Lars, and Ronaldo at the abandoned Ouraborium. "Whatever you have planned, please make this quick. We are preparing for war."
"Listen, Miss Lapidarist, I know we don't have much time, but I want to show you some alternatives to fusing with the Diamonds." Steven announced.
"It's his way of saying he's not ready to fuse with them yet because of his leftover baggage." Black Rutile snarked before Steven pushed her aside and then turned to Lars.
"She raises a good point, you know." Lars agreed with Black Rutile. "You can't just ignore your feelings about someone like that!"
"No, no, I bet people have wanted to see this for a while." Ronaldo said as Steven took Lars's hand and the two fused into a tall, pink-skinned man with crazy, 1970s-styled hair and dressed like he was the leader of a lonely hearts club.
"Oh, my stars!" the newly formed fusion of Steven and Lars gasped in amazement with a British accent. "Hey, that sounds like a pretty good name! That reminds me, I wanna test something." With a loud yell, Stars created a portal he jumped into, with another allowing him to land on the Lapidarist's shoulder. "Pretty impressive how I'm thinking with portals, eh?" He then summoned a large bass guitar from his hair to swing through the air like a sword before crashing down onto the ground with a big 'TWANG!'
"So cool!" Ronaldo cheered. "Do me next, do me next!"
"Okay, love, don't get so impatient." Stars laughed before un-fusing into Lars and Steven, who gave Ronaldo a high-five before the two merged into an equally tall man who was very bizarrely dressed, fitting Ronaldo's eclectic interests, with outrageously curly hair.
"Whoa, I look so stupid!" the fusion of Steven and Ronaldo laughed jokingly. "Wait, I am Stevaldo! I dare to be stupid!"
"Guys, where are you?" Peedee called for Steven and Ronaldo as he entered the arena. "The Gems want everybody together to stop the Lapidarist. Don't keep us-"He stopped himself immediately upon seeing Stevaldo in front of him with a big goofy grin as he began playing the accordion. "What just happened?"
"Check it out, Peedee, it's me, Ronaldo!" Stevaldo eagerly said. "I fused with Steven, and it feels super cool! Check out what I can do!" With his fingers to his temples, Stevaldo manipulated the rocks beneath him and used them to form a message saying, 'I AM STEVALDO!' "Pretty cool, huh?!"
"So when are you going to fuse with me?" Peedee asked.
"Maybe when he realizes he's using fusion to get out of making amends with the Diamonds." Black Rutile answered with a smirk. "But what do I know?"
"Is this true, Steven?" the Lapidarist wondered as Steven un-fused with Ronaldo. "Are you that uncomfortable around the Diamonds?"
"Yes, you got me, I am uncomfortable." Steven confessed. "I'm happy that we were able to convince them to heal all the corrupted Gems, a little easier than I thought, but that still doesn't distract from the fact that they were this way because of the Diamonds to begin with! And that's not even getting into how their treatment of Pink led to the rebellion, which led to so many lives being ended over thousands of years!"
Steven resisted the urge to cry as he poured his feelings out until the Lapidarist patted him on the head with her giant hand. "There there, Steven." She calmed him down. "Forgiveness and compassion shall always take time. So until the time comes for everyone to apologize, it's best to remain optimistic. In the meantime, you should be helping your friends save the universe."
"You're right." Steven sighed in resignation. "I can't dance around this any longer."
--
"Okay, everyone, double time, we ain't got much left to do here!" Amethyst yelled as she gave orders to all the members of the army of Gems, humans, Slytherophidians, Metals, and other assorted creatures from across the universe, all vastly different but still united against a familiar foe who desired nothing more than to destroy everything he saw. Friends, families, planets, and even entire galaxies were all in danger of being consumed by this mad god and his heralds. "Come on people, let's go go go!"
"Already got all the Gems ready!" Lapis declared with the Little Homeworld Gems behind her. "You ready, guys?!"
"YEAH!" the Little Homeworld Gems all cheered in reply.
"So this is it." Envyrno proclaimed. "These are the end times."
"At least we all had fun while we lasted." Sylvia Spectre answered sweetly as she contacted her superiors at the Coalition of Galaxies to assist in the final battle. "Now then, are you ready to help others for once?"
"Guess I got no other choice." Envyrno responded with a smirk.
"In any war, there are calms between storms. There will be days when we lose faith." Titanium gave a rousing speech to the other Metals. "But there are also days when a few brave souls unite to save the universe. We can be heroes in our own lives, every one of us, if we only have the courage to try. Now, we must take strength in kindred spirits, not of our species, all true warriors. If not in body, then in spirit. I am Titanium of the Metals, and I send this to the fearsome Squamata. Leave this universe alone. Because we're coming for you."
"Rigby, it's been an honor meeting you." Captain Gearfeet said to Rigby Starglow with a grin. "Say, can you sign my arm? I want to prove to my crew that I was lucky enough to meet you!"
"Okay, you got me." Rigby smirked as he took out a pen and wrote his signature on Gearfeet's cybernetic arm. "Who knows? Maybe we'll run into each other again someday."
"One last call before the apocalypse, everyone!" Sheriff Spiegel said while passing around a flask of alcohol to Deputy Edward, Monty, S-L1M3, Lady Imagineer, the Decimator, Earthos, and Michelle Angelon. "Anybody care for a sip?"
"I'm good." Jasper said as she turned to White Topaz. "Now, are you sure you're comfortable having to work alongside you-know-who again, dear? If you want, I can poof her again."
"No, don't be such a worrywart, honey." White Topaz said before kissing her girlfriend on the cheek. "If she says she wants to change, I trust her with all my heart. Besides, if it weren't for her, I wouldn't be wearing this sick number." She did a twirl to show off her new reformed outfit, now a black wrestling singlet with a big white star on her chest. "You like it?"
"Really fits you." Jasper said before she saw Steven and Black Rutile reunite with the others. "Steven! I've been wondering where you ran off to."
"Is everything alright?" Pearl asked. "We know you're a little uncomfortable around the Diamonds, but we're also aware that you really don't have a choice in the matter. If you're ready to talk with them, we'll make sure that they have enough time to- "
"You're too late, Steven." Garnet bluntly stated. "The Diamonds are already shipping out with the Jormagundrs to face Nosiop." As Garnet concluded her sentence, Steven turned to see the Diamonds, along with Spinel, Hessonite, Citrine, and the royal family, flying off in a big warship outside the castle walls. "Tough break."
"Doesn't matter, as long as all of us are still together." Steven declared. "The Diamonds can wait; we got a universe to save!"
"You got that right." Black Rutile said as she drew her sword and stood alongside the Rutile Rebels, both past and present. "Buckle up, Lucent Gems, today's the day we make a change!"
--
Within an hour or so, more warships began arriving from Alethinophidia, carrying the defenders of Serpentes toward the final battle with Squamata. One ship housed the Crystal Gems, the Rutile Rebels, now dubbed the Lucent Gems, Lars and the Off-Colors, the various competitors in the Contest of Champions, Bialyoom & Meinerr, Aescul, and the Fryman brothers. Another carried the Diamonds, Spinel, Hessonite, the Jormagundr royal family, the Universal Lords, Captain Boa, Flipso, and the Black Pearl Brigade. Finally, a third ship was transporting the Metals into battle.
Squamata and his heralds all turned to discover the three ships in the distance as they descended to the ground and their respective passengers disembarked for the final battle. Meanwhile, the Lapidarist appeared from above in a flash of light to lead the resistance against Squamata.
"So, you finally show yourself, my dear creator." Squamata sneered with a hiss. "What can one speck of light illuminate within the dark abyss that is I, Squamata? Countless stars. Countless worlds. Countless lives. All fell to me, all brought to nothing, and all because of you." With an ominous glow in his eyes, the god of snakes summoned an unstoppable army of darkness to aid in his destruction of the universe. "You and your kind have tried so hard to keep your sins hidden away that you had no idea that there would be souls of darkness who wanted to unleash my wrath upon the universe. You simply could not live with your own failures, and where did that bring you? Back to me."
"You will find that mortals are far more resilient than you believe, Squamata." The Lapidarist declared with a speech of her own. "Look at these people, these mortal beings. Consider their potential! They have done so many amazing things with the short time they have in the universe, yet they always made the most to ensure a brighter future for all! And that future involves you dying once and for all!" She raised her arm to the sky. "CHARGE!"
With that, the Lapidarist's armies raced into battle for the fate of all reality. In the process, Lapis and Jasper fused into Malachite, Cat's Eye and Holly Blue fused into Chrome Chalcedony, Cinnabar and her crew combined into Painite, Black Rutile, and White Topaz fused into Lepidolite, Aquamarine, and Eyeball fused into Bluebird Azurite, and Steven and Lars fused into Stars.
"Okay, just gotta tell the Diamonds I'm not interested!" Stars muttered to himself as he tried running over to Yellow Diamond. "Uh, hey, Yellow, can we talk?"
"Not now, Steven, saving the universe here!" Yellow exclaimed while repelling an army of shadow creatures with a wave of her hand. "Blue, back me up here!"
"Already on it!" Blue replied while firing lasers from her palms. Disappointed that he couldn't talk to the Diamonds yet again, Stars instead focused on helping the other Crystal Gems against Squamata's heralds.
"Hey Steven, neat new fusion!" Peridot complimented Stars's look.
"Thanks, love." Stars replied before summoning his star-shaped bass to fight off the invading army.
"Wait, Steven can fuse with humans other than him and Greg?" White Topaz asked while she and the Lapides held up a water shield to help defend the Metals.
"I guess so." Connie replied. "Bismuth, on your left!"
"Got it!" Bismuth yelled while smacking Velhallen Beo away with a hammer fist.
"Blast you, Gem scum!" Velhallen snarled before lunging at Garnet like a predator. "I've waited centuries to kill a Gem! And you have the honor of being the first!"
"Not quite." Garnet smirked in response. "Malachite, now!" Malachite then took Beo by surprise by snatching him from midair with a water claw and tossing him straight at Torius Vosania.
"Playing hardball, eh?" Beo smirked while firing a giant purple energy beam from his hands that White deflected with her laser eyes, prompting a beam struggle between the two.
Meanwhile, Cobralan, Constricta, Naja, and Boa all stood face to face with Nosiop, Pyth, Mr. Manco, and Torius, the royal family ready to free their son and brother from the Serpent Society's clutches and be a normal family again. "Nosiop, I know you're still in there, my boy." Cobralan reached out to his son. "Please, let your old man into your heart and listen to him."
"Me listen to you?!" Nosiop yelled angrily. "You never listened to what I had to say, so why should I do the same? I legitimately wanted to change our society for the better, but you were so stuck in your traditional ways that you never noticed your own family's feelings!"
"You know, father, he raises a good point." Naja stated.
"And that's why I wanted to talk to you, Nosiop." Cobralan added. "A human told me that I wasn't the best parent towards you. He knows from experience, for he is a father much like me, a father who also debated with himself on whether he was a good parent to his son. But at the end of the day, he accepted that no matter how much he treasured his child, he still needed to grow and change as a man himself. So please, my boy, let me try to be a good parent, and maybe we can work things out. Let us slay Squamata, and together, we can work towards a brighter future for our people."
Nosiop's face dropped as he gazed at his father, now repenting for his past problematic treatment of his son. He finally acknowledged his ignorance of his son's wants and now wanted to make amends. It almost brought a tear to Nosiop's eye and made him want to drop his weapon and return to his family with open arms. But unfortunately, destiny had other plans.
"I believe you've talked with your boy long enough." Pyth smirked while grabbing Nosiop by the shoulder. "Perhaps before you two are reunited, he should slip into something more comfortable. Oh, Squamata! I got a new vessel for you!"
"Excellent, my priest!" Squamata grinned eagerly before he zoomed straight into Nosiop's body through his mouth, forcing his spirit into the young prince and possessing him like the demon he was. As Nosiop was now possessed, his original self was locked away within his mind, and Squamata took control, allowing his new body to grow exponentially in size. With a sadistic grin, Squamatia took his body for a spin by laying waste to the rebellion surrounding him, smacking his tail around and firing lasers from his mouth. "Oh, this is most excellent!"
"Nosiop, sweetie!" Constricta yelled in horror before running for cover.
Before Squamata could cause any more harm to the rebellion, one fusion was brave enough to stand up and defend his friends from harm. Steven immediately un-fused with Lars and fused with Ronaldo so Stevaldo could summon a giant shield to protect them. "Stay away from my friends, Squamata!" Stevaldo announced. "I am the terror that flaps in the night. I am the one character in a superhero comic who is genuinely skilled in his own right yet is useless compared to the gods he surrounds himself with! I am Stevaldo, ally to good and nightmare to you!"
"Oh, another fusion with a human?" Squamata smirked in Nosiop's body. "I must admire your creativity, Steven Universe, but it shall not be enough! Bring me the ultimate fusion!"
"Now is your chance, Diamonds, become Gem!" Squamata urged Steven and the Diamonds. "Of course, there is something you need to address first."
"Right." Stevaldo said before un-fusing as Steven continued holding up the shield. "I know you've heard this way too many times before, but the reason why I'm so uncomfortable around you guys is that even though you're trying to make a change, you still don't understand what you've put me through with how you treated Pink and what you did to all those species through covering up what you did!"
"We don't understand? Are you kidding? Us? Of course, we understand. I mean, do you call this a war, this funny little thing?" Yellow declared, snapping Steven out of his funk. "This is only a small scuffle compared to what we endured!"
"We did worse things than you could ever imagine! And when I close my eyes, I hear nothing but the screams of the Gems who gave their lives for us!" Blue added worriedly.
"And you know what you do with all that pain? Shall I tell you where you put it?" White added, clenching her hand for extra emphasis. "You hold it tight till it burns your hand! And you say that no one else will ever have to live like this! No one else will ever have to feel this pain! Not on my watch! So go on, hate us all you like, but that won't change the fact that you would never exist without us! We need you as much as you need us! We're sorry for abusing you for what Pink did! Please forgive us!"
"That's all I needed to hear." Steven smirked in acceptance as he held out his hand to finally make amends with the Diamonds. The other three Diamonds each placed their finger on the hand, and in a brilliant flash of white, yellow, blue, and pink light, Gem was finally reborn after thousands of years.
"I-I'm whole again." Gem gasped while gazing at her massive hands and her surroundings. "I know what I must do." Without even thinking first, Gem zoomed towards Squamata with speed rivaling that of the speeds of light and sound combined before grabbing the possessed prince of Serpentes by the tail and spinning him around in the air before slamming him to the ground. "TAKE THIS!"
"Ah, the original Gem, long have I waited to see you!" Squamata snarled in joy before charging at Gem and attempting to bite her in the forearm, but Gem thought quickly and slapped him away. "Yes, this is just the fight I wanted!"
"It's time for you to surrender, Squamata!" Gem boomed while preparing another. "Let Nosiop go, or we will make you pay the price!"
"However, there is but one mistake you Gems fail to notice." Squamata smirked. "You never know when you'll be taken by surprise." At that moment, Squamata seemed to disappear, and in the next moment, the Lapidarist let out a loud shriek of agony as she keeled over while poison began to spread through her body. "Let us see how you fare without your god to save you!"
"Oh no, Rebeugar!" Gem yelled as she raced back to where the Lapidarist had fallen and un-fused into Steven and the Diamonds to try and save her.
"Thank goodness you got here in time." Captain Boa stated. "I don't think she has much time left after an attack like that took her by surprise."
"Hold on, I can fix this!" Steven exclaimed as he tried using his healing spit to cure Rebeugar of the poison, but to his shock; it didn't seem to work. "Oh no, what's happening? My spit isn't working!"
"That's because Squamata's poison is so lethal; not even your spit can stop it from killing its victims." Cobralan said remorsefully as he laid the Lapidarist to rest. "You can rest now, milady. We'll take it from here."
"I do not know what'll happen after I die. But I know that you are reality's last hope." The Lapidarist said weakly while gazing at Steven and Black Rutile one last time as the poison began killing her. "I was wrong. You two shall make the ultimate fusion that will save us all. My time is short, but I shall leave you with one final message. Everyone, I urge you all, one final time. Believe in Steven."
As the Lapidarist finally died in a flash of light, Steven and Black Rutile looked at each other, knowing exactly what to do. "Are you ready?" Steven asked while offering Black Rutile his hand. "Do you trust me?"
"I do." Black Rutile answered before taking Steven's hand, and the two danced together, glowing so intensely that the light could be seen for miles. The two began to fuse, something neither of them ever thought would've been possible in the past, and the result was an androgynous figure dressed in a conventional superhero costume with intense pink skin and large, curly hair. Could this be it? Could they be the ultimate fusion thousands of years in the making that will destroy Squamata once and for all? Whatever the case, the newly formed Rutilated Quartz had only one thing to say.
"Awesome."

Dear god, this chapter was a massive undertaking, but it was all worth it in honor of the show that changed my writing career forever. Well, that along with Gravity Falls and FLCL. Happy anniversary Steven, hope it's a good one. Next chapter will be the final chapter of Snake Eyes, and as I stated earlier, the long-awaited finale of Steven Universe: Alternate Future. Until we meet again for one last adventure, let's see how far we've come and how far we'll go.

Fools will act brave and fight No matter what the cost The Day of Unity comes And your world is already lost
Hello and welcome to the season two finale, episode twenty-one, King’s Tide!
The Day of Unity is upon us. I have no idea what will happen now, all I know is that nothing will be the same after this.
Just a quick note if this is the first liveblog of mine you’re reading, I’d recommend reading the previous episode, Clouds on the Horizon first, just to get some context for some stuff. Like the Lampman Bingo game we’re playing together. Speaking of which…
You can now cross ”Music reference” off your Lampman Bingo card. THIS is what I was referencing, by the way.
Without further ado… let’s do this.
Tumblr media
We open fittingly enough with King. He’s having another strange dream where he’s floating in a strange realm. He hears the voice again and sees the strange shadow.
The Collector is talking to Belos through that mirror/plate/tablet thing. The Collector is complaining that Belos has not kept his promise to release him, with Beos assuring The Collector that he needs only to be patient for a little while longer, his imprisonment will soon end.
I don’t know about you guys, but I think The Collector is making a good decision to trust Belos. I mean, he’s the emperor! You don’t get to be in charge by lying or distorting the truth!
I… I do have one idea… that I haven’t mentioned yet. It seems pretty obvious that Belos will not free The Collector like he promised. Belos is a duplicitous* man; even if he did pinky promise, he probably crossed his fingers behind his back. I wouldn’t think it’s too wise to go against a contract with a god, but who said Belos was wise?
(*I cannot beleive I spelled that right on the first try, I couldn’t even spell believe right on the first try in this sentence!)
Anyways, the point I’m trying to make is this: I think Belos will betray The Collector and not release him. But The Collector will obviously be released, so how does that happen? It is at this point where I got this crazy idea.
What if King frees The Collector? We know the power of a Titan can free The Collector and King has been getting these strange visions, seeing The Collector as a trapped spirit that Belos has taken advantage of.
Now, this is a bit out there. This is the Grand huntsman we’re talking about, the guy responsible for King’s family and entire species being all but extinct. I don’t think he’d willingly free The Collector… but on the other hand, does King even realize who the figure he keeps seeing in his dreams is?
Tumblr media
Amity pacing back and forth, eyes wide with that thousand-yard stare is haunting, but the palismen all huddled up, shaking? Devastating
Tumblr media
Hunter fiddles with the controls, to Alador’s annoyance. Of course, Hunter probably feels some guilt: it was supposed to be him that Kikimora brought back with her, not Luz. And he was supposed to protect her, and he failed in that.
Tumblr media
Tensions are high, with an argument breaking out.
Eh… on one hand, I kinda get it, they’re all very stressed about Luz being captured and, oh yeah, the end of the world. But on the other hand, come on.
Tumblr media
Oh wait, my bad, they were just hangry. Luz must’ve had all the snickers in her backpack when she was taken.
Fun Fact: on the Boiling Isles, snicker bars actually giggle when you eat them.

At just the time at which she must have become involved with Owen and married him, Katherine’s image, alongside Henry V’s, played a conspicuous role in propaganda issued to celebrate Henry VI’s coronation 1431. In a ballad written by Lydgate to celebrate his English coronation Henry is encouraged to emulate both his parents: “Lat him [Henry V] beo þy [your] myrrour and þy guyde,/ With þe [the] goode lyf of qweene Katheryne,/ þy blessed moder, in þat [that] oþer [other] syde.” Katherine was certainly present at this coronation. It has been argued that she did not accompany Henry to France, yet while she is not mentioned in chronicles, administrative records indicate that she was with Henry in Rouen at least, if not at the French coronation itself. This is a reminder that Katherine’s absence from narrative sources should not be taken as evidence that she was no longer important. Likewise, the fact that Katherine left Henry’s household following his return from France has been interpreted as Henry being removed from her care due to her remarriage, but there is no direct evidence to support this.

On Spiderverse, Shoumetsu and the nature of canon
Ok, you don’t need me to say it. Across the Spiderverse is amazing: the visuals are gorgeous, the animation is out of this world, the music is beautiful, and while the story is definitely fun, it also strikes a chord with a lot of its audience.
I’m just adding to the countless posts out there, but I really want to share some thoughts about how Spiderverse deals with ‘canon’, an idea so integral to the concept of a ‘story’ that without it, characters’ worlds literally break to pieces.
This idea is incredibly interesting to me because my favourite game, Shoumetsu Toshi explores a very similar concept - and its story has finished! So we can explore it fully and maybe come up with some new insights on what direction Spiderverse 3 could take?
Spoiler warning for midway through Across the Spiderverse (which I am abbreviating to Spiderverse 2). And spoilers for the ending of Shoumetsu Toshi, including Epilogue.
Deviating from canon in Spiderverse ruins that world
So, I admit I am not a diehard Spiderman fan compared to some of you, but many features of the ‘traditional’ Spiderman story are familiar to me: the powers come from a radioactive spider; there is usually a great feat of strength involving the Spiderman pulling two large objects together; at some point they have to choose between saving a loved one or saving the lives of the general public; and of course, there are those famous dying words: “with great power comes great responsibility”.
These features have been reused, recycled, readapted so many times as to basically become tropes. And Spiderverse makes full use of this, both as easter eggs and as a story mechanic.
In Spiderverse 2, these events are known as ‘canon’ events. They are the integral events that basically define what could be considered ‘authentic’ Spidermen
But, what happens when canon is broken? Well, they show that in the movie. The world, representing the story of that particular Spiderman, collapses in on itself and basically is destroyed. Because the story is over. There is no more to see. The implication is that things that don’t belong to canon disappear.
In the context of Spiderverse 2, this serves as the motive for almost all Spidermen to alienate Miles, the anomaly, the deviant from canon. It is also an excellent way to reinforce his insecurity that he doesn’t belong anywhere.
What happens to a story when it 'ends'?
Just like in Spiderverse 2, the concept of a story plays a major role in Shoumetsu Toshi. The Japanese mobile game starts off as something of an action adventure mystery, as a courier takes a young girl with mysterious powers to the aftermath of a disaster. But around the halfway point, you’ll realise that was never intended to be the point at all. Shoumetsu Toshi is essentially a study of the nature of storytelling.
Fairly early in the story, main characters Takuya and Yuki find out they are being ‘observed’ and controlled by a God-like being (us, the players), and beg us to help them overcome impossible odds to defeat the enemy in front of them and complete their goal.
And we do! But guess what happens when they reach their end goal? Tragedy befalls them again, as another story unfolds for us to ‘observe’.
Tumblr media
(This is not my photo, this is literally a screenshot from the game)
Watching the story continue starts to become synonymous with making the protagonists suffer, something that is made painfully evident in Yuki’s monologues.
In fact, seeing the story continue into infinity is the desire of the final antagonist, Beo, a stand-in for us god-like Observers, and someone who will go as far as to artificially manufacture conflict himself just to see how Takuya and Yuki will resolve it.
The final goal of the main story then becomes figuring out a way to end the canon story. In a way it is a fascinating critique on (the sadly too many) stories that continue way past the point they were meant to end, just for the sake of more content for an audience willing to pay.
But then, what happens when do finally get to the end?
We get a couple of lines about the world becoming peaceful…for a while. And then, it gets destroyed.
It’s not made clear exactly why it happened, but the fact the attacker is a giant invincible tarot card with Beo’s image implies this is the will of the Observers. The characters, in their last moments, lament how quickly the world can still take what little happiness they have away from them. It’s worth mentioning that ‘Shoumetsu’ literally means to disappear, or be annihilated.
Tumblr media
If we take a Beo-like Observer’s perspective, could this be saying that a story that doesn’t continue has no value in existing?
Isn’t it kind of similar to how once canon is broken in Spiderverse, the world has no choice but to collapse on itself? Because there is no more story beyond canon for the world to support.
What actually happens to a story when it ends? The characters in the story, as well as all the events that have happened until then, the entire world, the universe contained within that story, also end, right? That seems to be what happened in Shoumetsu Toshi. And it seems to be what the other Spidermen in the Spiderverse are actively trying to avoid.
It’s an interesting conundrum. To save everyone else’s worlds, Miles basically cannot be allowed to coexist alongside them.
I am very excited to see where Spiderverse 3 takes their story. I have no doubt they will come up with a poignant and creative way to resolve the conflict. Perhaps a way for Miles to trailblaze a new story just for himself; a twist on the original canon that is just as legitimate as any other Spiderman’s story.
But while we wait for that, I want to share Shoumetsu Toshi’s answer to a very similar problem, from chapter one of its epilogue.
Tumblr media
How Shoumetsu Toshi chose to end its story
At the start of Epilogue, Takuya and Yuki are separated. Takuya (with Yuki’s brother Souma), attempts to move forward even when nothing is left in front of him. Yuki, on the other hand, follows a voice and finds herself in a triangular room with many doors. She then has a conversation. Literally facing the fourth wall. Talking directly to us.
Yuki talks about how she’s wanted to meet us, and that she is grateful to us for always cheering her on. But also, she does not want to be the one being observed anymore. She knows the Observers want the story to continue forever, but she doesn’t want that. She invites the Observers to come with her to the end of the journey, and find their happy ending together.
At some point, the voices of the Observers become a single voice - the voice of the first Observer, Sora, who is also the creator of this story.
Sora fears the end of the story. She doesn’t want to say goodbye to the characters she loves. Yuki will disappear if the story ends and she is forgotten.
But Yuki says that won’t happen. She will always be here (just in a place you can’t see her). No longer being together doesn’t mean the past never happened. They are connected now, through the journey they have taken together.
Sora is actually afraid of being left alone. She has been using Shoumetsu Toshi as a form of escapism. But all good things must come to an end, and while continuing the story has its own value, Shoumetsu Toshi teaches us there is meaning as well in waking up from the dream and embracing the reality in front of you. That’s what it means to live.
Sora, Yuki, Takuya and Souma then open the doors to the epilogue together, embarking on one last journey to save their friends, tie up loose ends, and drive the story towards a true happy ending.
The end of canon is a gift
I want to pause for a moment here and talk about what the game creators are implying through this message. Basically, when the canon story ends, these characters and ideas don’t 'die'. A part of them remains with us, the Observers. And in a way, that means they surpass canon.
The creators want their characters to keep living on, through us, the players. And this is consistent with many other aspects of the game: from parallel worlds that serve as a convenient explanation for nonsensical April Fools situations and collaborative crossovers to exist (X X X), to their willingness to literally write a fan's OC into a canon ranking event. Heck, one of the chapters in the main story is straight up fanfiction of Takuya and Yuki, played off as a dream.
Shoumetsu Toshi is a story the creators want to share with their audience. They actively encourage fan participation to shape and add a new layer of meaning to the game, in ways both good (like 'saving' a character at a live event to enable their story to continue) and bad (audience voting killed off a different character).
Shoumesu Toshi’s main message is ultimately a love letter to future creators. This is a story they want to share with you. This is a story they want you to pass on. Canon has provided the foundation, but now the rest is in the Observer’s hands.
The characters will thank you in game, but they will live on, in the fanart, the fanfiction, the stories inspired by it, created by the Observers, the fans.
And I think this is the perfect way for a 'story' like this to ‘continue’. Canon is not everything. Canon is a gift to the imagination. The true power of canon is to inspire even greater creativity.
It is rare to see such a positive and respectful message aimed directly at the fans embedded so deeply in the identity of a game, and I really want to see these messages more often in mainstream media.
How wonderful would it be if the ending of Spiderverse touches on this message even just a little bit? Spiderman is a franchise with such a long history, spanning so many stories, so many worlds, so many different types of media, touched by the hands of so many creators, and touching the hearts of so, so many more fans. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to find a way to pay tribute to every single one of them? Regardless whether they are young or old, liked the comics or preferred the movies, a Marvel or Sony fan, diehard lore loyalist or secretly have their own Spiderman OC, whether they express their love through art, fiction, roleplay, or even just daydreams.
I just think it’d be really cool.
Tumblr media
Sorry one more thing:
While I was going through old screenshots to research for this post, I realised the finalisation of Souma’s character arc is incredibly similar to Miles’ dilemma. Souma is the first antagonist of Shoumetsu Toshi, who goes through a redemption arc and basically joins the main character roster by the end. However, in Epilogue, he gets told over and over again by another version of himself that the plot will refuse to progress unless he sacrifices himself. That’s just how the story is meant to go.
Tumblr media
When I have time, maybe I'll write this bonus case study.
But if you want to read (a lot) more on Shoumetsu Toshi, I have summaries of the first two parts of main story here and here.
Unfortunately I haven't gotten around to writing any more story summaries yet, but for those who are curious about Epilogue, I did make a fangirl tweet when I first played it.

Sitri had no heartbeat?
I think I already replied in an earlier post regarding the poll (but if i didn't i apologise lol)
Anyways, it's mainly a supposition - Sitri is a construct, unlike Billy, and Billy's "construct heart", aka, crest stone, never beat.
Unless Sitri had a "heart" like the human organ, she wouldn't have had any heartbeat too - but Rhea's formal about it, the crest stone, Sothis's heart, was used as Sitri's heart, and then passed on to Billy. The crest stone didn't beat in Billy's chest, so I don't see why it would inside Sitri?
Also, because I recently re-read the paralogue, Hilda mentions Freikugel is "pulsating".
In JP, she uses this ピクピク動 which roughly means it twitches/wiggles.
She doesn't mention how it beats (like a heart) but the relic "moves" when a crest stone is in...
Add to that how the random monk wrote in a book - that was hidden in the Abyss - how the relics stop "moving" when you remove the crest stone.
So we have both characters, Hilda and the random monk, who notice the Relics "move" when they are equipped with their crest stones, but do not mention a heartbeat at all.
The theory goes like this :
Relic (aka Nabatean) + Crest Stone = no heartbeat.
Billy + Crest Stone + defective human heart = no heartbeat.
(Billy - Crest Stone + human heart that somehow works thanks to the power of Tru Piss = heartbeat.)
So, Sitri (a construct made to house the power of the Goddess heavily infered to be some sort of pseudo-Nabatean) + Crest Stone = no heartbeat?
It's only conjecture though, like, imo, FE5 implying Fergus is Beo's biokid but Nanna isn't.

Maidin Luain Cincíse
“Maidin Luain Cinchíse” is one of my favourite Irish songs. It was written by the Munster poet Mícheál Óg Ó Longáin (1766-1837). Earlier Irish poets tended to be supporters of Jacobitism; however, Ó Longáin was a staunch republican, and even served as a messenger in the United Irishmen. The song, which laments the failure of the 1798 uprising, likely draws from his own personal experiences. Ó Longáin’s disappointment at the failure of his home province to rise is also expressed. I feel that this closeness to the writer is what makes the song so powerful.
“Maidin Luain Cincíse” means “Whit Monday Morning”, and refers to the Monday after Pentecost Sunday (usually referred to in England and Ireland as “Whit Sunday” or “Whitsun”). If I’m correct, I believe this would have fallen on May 28th in 1798. On that day in Wexford, the rebels successfully captured the garrison town of Enniscorthy. I’m not sure why this date is mentioned, as the song is lamenting defeat rather than victory. The language used seems to describe a rural rather than urban battle, too. I don’t know where Ó Longáin fought during the rebellion, and this would be key to understanding the exact situation he references. If anyone could help me check the date, or find the exact battle described, I would be most grateful! The mention of Whit Monday may also contrast the active state of the rebellion with that of Munster. The only major rebel action in Munster did not occur until the Battle of the Big Cross, on June 19th.
This version, sung by Aoife Granville (a folklore lecturer at my university) is the one I’ll translate. It’s considerably shorter than the texts I’ve found elsewhere. In places, different words are substituted. I think its arrangement is beautiful. It has an expressive quality that other versions I’ve found lack.
Maidin Luain Cincíse, labhair an síofra sa ghleann.
Do bhailíodar na cága chun ábhacht a dhéanamh ann
Do chruinníomar na dtimpeall, ‘s do lasamar ár dtinte
‘S do thógamar ceo draíochta go haoibhinn os a gcionn.
Cá bhfuilid na Muimhnigh nó an fíor go mairid beo,
Ná cruinníd siad ‘nár dtimpeall is cabhrú linn sa ngleo?
Mar is deacair poirt do stríocadh ná clann búir do dhíbirt
Ónár mbailte dúchais dílis bhí ár sinsir riamh fadó...
Pentecost Monday morning, the síofra spoke in the valley.
The jackdaws assembled, to make their fun there.
We gathered around, and we lit our fires
And we took a magic mist,  blissful, overhead.
Where are the Munstermen, or the living image,
Won’t they come into our midst and help us in the fight?
For it’s difficult to strike port, or drive out the boorish clan,
From the sweet, native towns our ancestors held long ago.
A particularly sad verse, not in this version:
Beir scéala suas chun Mumhan uainn, a rún ghil ‘s a stór,
Agus inis an scéal faoi chumha dóibh go bhfuil an sciúirse ‘nár gcomhair;
Mar is mó leanbh fireann fionn geal agus ainnir mhilis mhúinte
Agus ógfhear cliste lúfar san úir uainn ag feo.
Bear a story from us up to Munster, bright darling, treasure,
And tell the lonely tale to them that the scourge is among us
For there are many fair bright manly lads, and sweet schooled maidens,
And agile clever young men, rotting in the earth.

RAAF's KC-30A MRTT performs air refueling of B-1B Lancer bombers
The U.S. B-1B long-range bomber can carry a payload of up to 34 tons of guided and unguided ammunition.
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 08/10/2022 - 4:00 PM in Military
The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) KC-30A tanker performed air-to-air refueling (AAR) of two U.S. Air Force (USAF) B-1B Lancer bombers.
The AAR of USAF aircraft was carried out in the Northern Territory of Australia, allowing the RAAF KC-30A multi-role tanker transport (MRTT) aircraft to support USAF bombers to maintain its global reach capacity.
The mission also provided a crucial opportunity for RAAF aviators to demonstrate their interoperability skills in challenging but realistic environments.
After completing the AAR process, the bombers landed at RAAF Base in Darwin, where the two carried out hot pit refueling, supported by the aviation refuelers of RAAF Squadron No. 13 and the USAF maintenance team.
This also marks the first time that a USAF B-1B aircraft received fuel using the RAAF's JP157 fire hydrant cart during the hot-turn refueling technique.

The leader of the Air Base squadron and Squadron No. 13, Michael Moroney, said: "Safe and successful refueling highlights the continuous steps in our interoperability and provides validation for future USAF activities at the RAAF Base in Darwin.
"This was also the first use of ground refueling wells for USAF aircraft in the extension of the U.S.-funded bomber refueling yard.
“The operational use of this infrastructure, designed to be used by the refueling equipment of the USAF and the RAAF, is an important milestone for both air forces.”
The USAF Lancers have been visiting Darwin's RAAF Base under the enhanced air cooperation activities, which began in 2017.
The objective of such activities is to strengthen bilateral collaboration between Australia and the United States.
Joint training activities also include aeromedical evacuation interoperability training, fifth-generation resource integration and integrated aircraft maintenance activities.
