This is a Poll! I Will Eventually Get to the Poll!
Conversational drift is a thing and if you got someone who's drift compatible, you hang onto that person for life.
So, the spouse and I were discussing how the word "subwoofer" is wasted on an audio device and it should instead refer to some kind of discreet toy that give deep bass vibes, perhaps via blue whale noises. That's not what I'm gonna ask you about, Tumblr, that is objectively true.
No. Somehow we decided Yassified Mrs. Tweedy from Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget has real dom energy and her next conquest would be El Pollero himself, Gus Fring - if only he wasn't gay! El Pollero is Mrs. Tweedy's impossible dream! In fact, once he finds out about the chicken collars, he might try to seduce "what's-his-nuts, in the chicken suit" away from her. "Mr. Tweedy II," I ad-libbed, (It's Dr. Fry but I had to look it up.) "has it never occurred to you to to sell these happiness collars to people?" And then, in a goofier voice, "But they're chicken collars, they're to make chickens happy..."
And the spouse says, "I don't know how to make people happy!"
If I'd been drinking water I would've done a spittake. "WTF, are you adding emotional depth to this? Oh, my god. That's a fic!"
"It's a crack pairing. It'd only hold up for a thousand words or so..."
"No! Are you kidding me?"
"100k, slow burn romance?"
"YES!" A pause. "In the spirit of that game where you buy three items to freak out the cashier, the only fic I have on AO3 right now is the WTYP one. WTYP fights Gozer, a slow burn romance between Gus Fring and whats-his-nuts in the chicken suit, and what's the third one...??"
After some discussion, I admitted, "The one I really wanna do is Bartleby the Scrivener as a Seinfeld episode... And maybe in the B-plot Kramer does The Tell-Tale Heart."
"Wait, is Kramer the killer or the victim?"
"The killer? I dunno, we need him for the next episode..."
Anyway, we decided Kramer gets a Furby and he's taking it everywhere and Newman's real annoyed with it, but he needs to sneak into Kramer's room while he's sleeping and steal it without setting it off. A cursory internet search suggests that Furbies and Seinfeld did share a brief moment on this planet, so this would've been one of the last episodes, perhaps a lost finale. ...In which case I would be free to kill whoever I like!
But, okay. I'm done with my next six-pack and I'm not going to publish it until I can illustrate. My eyes are putting me on indefinite hiatus. But I can write! So, if I get real bored... And I'm not saying I will, 'cos I got a lot of eye exercises to do and ATM they get me real tired and useless. But IF I get real bored, and if this poll strays across your dash, and you decide to care, do you wanna see:
Option 1: A slow burn romance between Gus Fring, from Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad, and Dr. Fry from Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, guest starring Yassified Mrs. Tweedy. I can't promise you 100k but I will take it as seriously as I can.
Option 2: An episode of Seinfeld where Elaine details her investigation of her new coworker Bartleby, George tries to get out of work by saying "I prefer not to," and Kramer and Newman do The Tell-Tale Furby.
And if you feel moved, go ahead and steal. I think our takes would undoubtedly be unique, and it would be hilarious if someone clicked on a tag and found MORE THAN ONE.

(obligatory better call saul/ breaking bad spoilers warning. speak now or hold your peace)
god fuck me ok brain no worky words arent gonna come out right but gustavo fring is the most heartbreaking character in the breaking bad cinematic universe. like,,,imagine growing up in a poor, isolated town and building yourself from fucking nothing only to continue to be held back by societies views on something you literally have no way of controlling. it’s the one thing you cant “fix” or “work around”. especially in the fucking 80′s, dude. and despite that hindrance, you still find someone who loves you unconditionally, who you click with, you can work with them no matter what, and then that’s fucking ripped away from you. it’s ripped away from you in the most traumatic fucking way possible. and the thing is, you cant tell anyone about it. you can even say “i lost my partner” and disguise it as something its not because that would mean outing yourself as a gay man in the 80′s.  so you build a village literally dedicated to healing and peace and it’s like,,,just this place of pure love, and good, but to gus it’s just a painful, painful reminder of the people who murdered his boyfriend in cold blood. which is good because it gives gus motivation, it gives him incentive, and as long as a character has that, you’re good to fucking go bro.

Personal Opinion on Screen OD’s List
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VORN5I2oJe4
First proper list of the year, although it’s from a source I’ve never heard of! Let’s get into it.
First up we have Rings of Power. I didn’t hate Rings of Power, but I feel like watching it in any proximity to the films reveals that it’s pretty shallow. I enjoyed it the way I would enjoy a CW Superhero show, I don’t think it belongs on a best of list but what can you do.
Next up is The English, an Amazon western show starring Emily Blunt. I haven’t gotten around to it yet, it has relatively positive reviews and just came out super recently. I’ve seen some people think it has awards potential, probably because Emily Blunt is such a big name, plus it’s run by Hugo Blick, whose show The Honourable Woman got nominated almost a decade ago. Have you seen The English? Let me know if it’s worth watching!
Prehistoric Planet is yet another David Attenborough nature documentary, I don’t see a lot of these on year end lists but they do really well in IMDB audience rankings. If you like this kind of show, it’s probably great!
Next up is Pachinko, an amazing show, I’m kind of surprised it’s so low here. I really hope it does better on other lists. This show was really artful, amazing performances, and some really creative episodes.
The Sandman! I loved The Sandman, although I haven’t read the comics. I’m really glad to see it here, one of my favourite shows of the year. I’m glad it was updated to have more racial diversity and more queer characters, and I think the show just really sucks you in, I couldn’t stop watching. So excited for Season 2.
WeCrashed is a show I didn’t get to watch, and it got pretty negative reviews so I’m surprised to see it here. Let me know if you liked it and if you think it’s worth watching.
The Gilded Age is very, very similar to Downton Abbey. I wasn’t a huge fan, but I would probably watch anything with Audra McDonald, Christine Baranski, and Carrie Coon.
Night Sky is a sci-fi drama on Amazon, I don’t know anything about it beyond that it stars JK Simmons, who is always amazing. Let me know your thoughts if you’ve seen it!
Heartstopper is here at number 14! I’m so so happy to see it, it’s a show and comic that are very special to me. I’ve never felt catharsis the way I did getting to see the love story between Nick and Charlie blossom, and I’m so happy it’s getting so much critical attention. This is the gay romance I’ve been waiting my whole life for.
The Bear is a phenomenon and honestly has one of the best episodes of the year with Episode 7, a tight, 20 minutes in real time look into the chaos of the kitchen.  Jeremy Allan White and Ayo Edebiri have such intense coworker chemistry that it’s always electrifying to watch them.
Very surprised to see Doctor Who here, but pleasantly surprised as I heard the regeneration special was fantastic. I’m way behind on the Whittaker/Chibnall era of the show, but this makes me excited to catch up.
Better Call Saul is, for me, the best show of the entire year, and putting it all the way down at number 11 is a bit criminal. The final season was so innovative, and the way it intertwines itself with Breaking Bad is like nothing else I’ve seen on TV. Like every other season, Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn hold the show together with they’re heart pumping romance, but Giancarlo Esposito, Jonathan Banks, Michael Mando and Tony Dalton make the other side of the show just as intense. Heartbroken that this is over, I really hope it gets the recognition it deserves.
House of the Dragon is number ten and I know it’s going to do really well here but it’s not a show I’m very fond of. I’m a bit tired of the Game of Thrones “fantasy must be historically accurate but only when it comes to misogyny/racism/homophobia” model and this show hasn’t done much to assuage that. This article does a better job of explaining it than I could, but often HotD and GoT both go out of their way to make things even more misogynistic. This show is going to do amazingly at awards shows and on the year end lists, but I’m tired of it already.
Stranger Things is here at number 9, I was a bit mixed on it but I loved the use of Running Up That Hill, one of my favourite songs, and I thought the plot twist was pretty effective.
This is Going to Hurt is a show I keep meaning to watch, it’s an adaptation of a book about a doctor struggling to work with the underfunding of the NHS, the United Kingdom’s public health care system. Even though I haven’t watched this yet, I’m cheering for this show, both because the lead character is gay and because I like to see shows produced outside the US get recognition.
Julia is an HBO comedy covering the start of Julia Child’s cooking program. I didn’t know much about Julia Child before watching the show, but this show is a really excellent one to put on, relax, and have fun watching. It’s really comfy, and I think Sarah Lancashire and David Hyde Pierce are fantastic and fun actors. Lancashire really gets Julia’s mannerisms and accents. A really fun show.
The Dropout is about Elizabeth Holmes, who scammed her way into making Theranos, a biotech company. This show keeps growing and growing in my esteem as the year goes on, and I think the tension it captures is fantastic. Amanda Seyfried and Naveen Andrews are also fantastic in it, Seyfried’s Emmy was well deserved. I expect The Dropout to be a huge success in year end lists.
Welcome to Wrexham is a documentary about Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney buying a soccer team in Britain. I really don’t know anything about this one, let me know if you’ve seen it what you think!
The White Lotus’s second season is here in fourth place, and I think it’s well deserved. I prefer it to the first season, and I really love this year’s cast, particularly Aubrey Plaza. The way the whole cast bounces off each other is magnetic, I can’t recommend it enough. Hopefully it sticks the landing in its last few episodes.
In third place is Bad Sisters, a show by Sharon Horgan who created Catastrophe. In Bad Sisters, the sisters of a woman with an abusive husband get together to plot how to murder him and rescue her. It’s really interesting so far, but I’m only on episode 2. I’ve heard a lot of good things and I expect it to do really well with British critics.
Second place is my biggest and most major disagreement with this list, Ozark. I feel like Julia Garner basically robbed everyone else at the emmys (most notably Jung Ho-yeon, Sarah Snook, Patricia Arquette and Rhea Seehorn, who all had amazing performances). I’ve never really liked Ozark, it feels like a cheap imitation of Breaking Bad, but even people who liked Ozark felt that the last season was pretty awful (and I agree). Screen OD assures us that the show isn’t “one of those shows with an unsatisfactory ending”, but I’d strongly disagree. Oh well. Every list is going to have one off choice, but I really really think Ozark and Better Call Saul should be swapped, especially because Better Call Saul feels like it’s pretty much just a much better version of Ozark.
However, I cannot have any complaint about the show in first place, Severance. Severance is a fascinating look at how capitalism makes life into a living nightmare for everyone, while also just being a fantastic and compelling piece of science fiction. Every character is fantastic and so is every actor. This deserves first place for the fantastic romance between Burt and Irving all on its own. If you haven’t watched it yet, get going! Or don’t, it’s a long wait until season 2, but I have a feeling this is going to be known as one of the best tv shows of the 20s when all is said and done.

Another thing that wine bar scene showcased was how Better Call Saul views revenge as an avoidance tactic for coming to terms with one's own grief. Not just for Gus but for Mike and Jimmy too. Adding Mike's sequence directly after Gus' was a genius move on many levels, one of which being how Mike, like Gus, turns to violence to enact his ideas of ''justice'' out on his loved one's killers. Then afterwards, continuing to live a life of violence and vengeance because his boy is still gone and his revenge relieved next to nothing. Kim and Jim's harassment of Howard Hamlin is often justified because "he drove Chuck to suicide"(false) and "he put Kim in doc review"(L). But Jimmy only really starts to harass him after Chuck dies and denies his brother's death having any impact on him. (Interestingly, Kim also only seeks revenge when the threat that she might loose her husband starts to form)
More importantly though; going back to Gus, that shot of him swirling that red liquid around while his fancy man goes to fetch another bottle of wine is ment to communicate that one thought has popped into his mind: "Max". Now, that word on it's own can lead to two trains of thought. Gus takes it to mean, 'no, no pleasure until Max's death is fully avenged'. But in truth his brain has developed a defence mechanism against intimacy. Gus, being a gay man that lived through the Pinochet Regime, would have known that taking Max on as a lover was a dangerous way to live; and so having him murdered in front of him in such a shocking and unexpected way would have confirmed any fears, be they rational or otherwise, in uptaking that relationship. So to be met once again with a chance at love must immediately send alarm bells ringing in his mind. What's actually being triggered in his brain at the thought of his husband, is not: 'wait until it is finished' but more: 'remember what happened last time?'. There's an incredible emptiness to Gus that was once filled with an intense love for Max. By filling that emptiness with an intense hatred for the Salamancas, Gus is able to continue living his life without ever confronting his grief head on. The sad reality is that Gus couldn't have died a better death than the one he got. He lived to get his revenge in full and not a second longer (how character inkeeping). Had he lived after the fact, he would have been met with the harsh reality that his boy is still gone, and he hasn't even begun to process it.
"Never make the same mistake twice" is the mantra that Gus holds firmest in Breaking Bad. And the biggest mistake Gustavo ever made, was falling in love.

before delving into hot mash summer, here is everything I watched or tried to watch during detox mash spring, ranked not at all based on quality but SOLELY based on how much they helped me detox:
-the handmaid’s tale. This is torture porn and I couldn’t finish it. I was PMSing so I cried at several points where the women living under slavery touched fingers or risked it all to help each other because gestures of devotion and love in the face of unspeakable violence and atrocity always get me. But overall this show was manipulative and had nothing to say, so it did not distract me from the shit Alan Alda pulled 40 years ago. -5/100
-the Americans. i didn’t get far in this rewatch. every episode I was thinking: this is the 80s, why aren’t they watching mash? what’s Elizabeth’s stance on mash?! I bet she thinks it’s American propaganda. I bet Philip looooves it and has totally bought into it though. Has Philip styled his own non-threatening American masculinity on Alan Alda? On that Alan Alda Ms. Magazine cover. The complete lack of discussion about mash was jarring simply took me out of that world completely. Nearly unwatchable. I now know that mash does come into it later but the dragging out was just not believable to me. 0/100
-black sails. True neutral. Did I enjoy rewatching a show that didn’t make me go “what does it mean? what does it MEAN???” every two minutes? Absolutely. Love knowing everything that they intended. however, it both reminds me too much of mash AND simultaneously is too complete/logical on its own to help me “detox” from mash. 5/100
-Chernobyl: things start to get interesting here. The “Jared Harris trying to speak truth to power while people die in cold climate due to man’s hubris” cinematic universe undoubtedly shared some themes with mash (communism, military leaders gaslighting you about whether you’re being bombed/whether there’s a nuclear reactor core etc). Overall though I think the realistic tone, the nature of the tragedy being explored and gritty grim dark aesthetics really managed to make me not think of mash for prolonged periods of time. 20/100
-the terror: in mash I learned the names of people from s1-s3 right away even though I started with s4. In the terror my brain was working overtime to remember anyone’s name beyond the core five that I forgot about mash about prolonged periods of time. But then crozier would do something incredibly put upon and “I must obey my own morals” and I’d be like “oh wow I really do love gay captains that’s a thing.” Altogether I’d say this show is high in detox value and holds a special place in my because it’s the first non-mash show I managed to watch this spring. 25/100
-Silicon Valley: the perfect show comfort show. Just gay enough, just funny enough, just meaningful enough. It doesn’t score any real points in its satire of the tech industry but it lets you laugh at them the way arrested development (the original run) made us laugh at bush. The ending reminded me a little of mash (in that it’s sad on a character level but the logical/correct conclusion to the narrative structure) and sometimes I felt a little “my poor little meow meow” about Jared Dunn. Altogether though a solid 90/100 on the detox scale.
-house md: I rewatched three episodes and the feelings it was able to unlock in the secret parts of my brain were such that they cannot be measured on a x/100 detox scale. i felt so insane I started rewatching breaking bad which had made me so ill in 2013 I promised myself not to rewatch it again. I rate this 🦐🦐🦐🦐 out of 💣💣💣💣
-breaking bad: this show has nothing in common with mash but the level of anger at Walt/hyper empathy for Jesse it is capable of making me feel creates the exact same physical sensation as watching mash. In some ways 100/100 and in other ways -1000/100
-better call saul: just distant enough from mash AND no all-consuming hatred for the protagonist. Lawyers? Check. The flounciest little fruity scam guy you could ever hope for as your protagonist? Check. Your OTP is canon and in cahoots? Check. Slow burn and fake married AU? Check. The only thing is that Jimmy sometimes in his gayer and flouncier moments reminded me of Hawk and the fact that his love interest is a blonde who seems straight laced but is boiling with rage and even scammier than him deep down did not help.....overall though a solid 90/100

Thoughts on Grey’s Anatomy: 16X12
I watched the new episode of Grey’s Anatomy over the weekend. I liked it. It was a standalone that focused on some of the characters I'm less interested in so it wasn't as thrilling as it could have been but it was good. One thing I loved about this episode and last week’s was the humour! They’ve really brought the humour back to Grey’s Anatomy and I am here for it! We could all use a laugh these days. Meredith’s Voice Over this week is about secrets and how they all come out eventually. Very true. I loved her line, “The question is what are your body’s secrets? And are you ready to know?” We all fear the truth sometimes. Meredith Grey asking the real questions.
Maggie and Jackson run into each other at the hospital. We find out that she took Richard’s advice and went to ask Koracick for her job back. He hasn’t decided yet. Jerk. Jackson proceeds to throw shade and Maggie throws it right back. That’s my girl! We find out that Maggie and Jackson have been invited to what they think is Richard and Catherine’s anniversary dinner. Next we see Catherine and Richard arguing. We find out the dinner is actually happening so they can tell their kids that they’re separating. Yikes! The other clue here is that judging by the promo Meredith does not attend. If it was a real anniversary dinner Meredith would absolutely be in attendance because Richard is like a father to her.
Her absence really should have tipped Maggie off that something was wrong. That being said, Maggie’s been going through a tough time recently and got kinda drunk pretty soon after arriving and she is historically pretty oblivious sometimes so I guess I can’t blame her for that. Meanwhile Levi is at home recovering and Nico is there helping him. Awww they’re so cute! I love them together. I loved Levi’s line, “Except for the ball gag and jock strap were good.” LOL!
We find out that Levi’s Great Uncle Saul is in hospice and he’s dying. According to Levi he was an ass to everyone else except him and he’s devastated that he’s dying. Poor Levi. Meanwhile, Maggie shows up for dinner at Richard and Catherine’s very nice house. She wishes them a happy anniversary and gifts them chocolates. Richard and Catherine are stunned. They completely forgot it was coming up. Oh boy.
Jackson arrives next and wishes them the same and gifts them an Alice Mann painting all the way from South Africa. Maggie feels bad for only bringing them chocolates. Catherine tries to smooth things over. Richard wants to cut to the chase and tell them. Catherine wants to hold off and gets everybody wine. You can see where this is going. Then the doorbell rings. It’s Vic from Station 19! Jackson invited her because he thought it was a dinner party. And she brought Dean because she thought it was a party party, not a dinner party and as we later learn is trying to set Maggie and him up since he previously showed an interest in her.
Meanwhile, Levi comes to visit Uncle Saul with Nico in tow. They banter and then Saul chastises him for still living in his mother’s basement. Levi beats around the bush and Uncle Saul is having none of it. “You think I’m getting on a roof with a bugle horn anytime soon?” Oh Uncle Saul! With that Levi introduces Nico as his boyfriend and comes out as gay to his uncle. Nico goes to shake his hand and Uncle Saul promptly dies right in front of them! Only on Grey’s! Which results in a stunned Levi uttering the phrase, “I killed him. I killed him with my gayness.” Oh my god! Interestingly Justin Chambers is still credited on this episode even though he does not appear. As with last week’s episode this is likely because he was away but still under contract and expected to return when this episode was shot last year.
I think we’ll start to see more obvious storyline changes beginning with episode 13 as it would have been the first one filmed in the new year either during or after Justin decided to leave the show. It’s a shame we’ll never get to see the original storylines as they were planned, but Justin gave 15+ years to a show that nobody thought would make it past Season 1. So as much as I miss Alex as a character I get it. When it’s time to move on it’s time to move on. You have to do it when you feel ready and not by anyone else’s clock or timeframe.
Back at the hospice Levi is doing his best to follow Jewish tradition with regards to Saul’s body. His Aunt shows up and then promptly peaces out! Oh man! Over at the dinner party Jackson is a complete ass and Maggie calls him on his crap completely! I’m so here for it! You tell him! You go Glen Coco! Catherine continues to be cold towards Vic and honestly I kind of love it! She asks Vic if she’s allergic to shrimp and in response Dean says, “Vic? No! She’ll put anything in her mouth!” Oh Dean. You are not helping. LOL!
Dean and Maggie seem to get along well which is nice. Maybe there’s hope for them still. We find out from Vic that during her training the nickname first responders used to refer to Pac North was The Morgue! Oh boy. Back at the hospice Levi and Nico are playing cards. Nico still wants that sandwich. Levi’s a hard no. Then in walks a man who Levi doesn’t recognize but who clearly knows Saul. Then Levi introduces himself and the man recognizes him. He knows who he is because Saul talked about him all the time. My heart!
He correctly identifies Nico as his boyfriend and Levi is confused. We find out that Uncle Saul was gay and this man was his partner. Twist! We find out that Saul and Daniel were the loves of each other’s lives and that Daniel is heartbroken at his passing. I guess Levi’s gayness didn’t kill Uncle Saul after all! That’s a relief! Back at dinner Maggie shares Catherine and Richard’s proposal story and then Jackson makes this lovely speech about how they’re the gold standard. Which would be wonderful if they weren’t separating.
Catherine and Richard talk in the kitchen. Catherine gets emotional and says that maybe they’ve been too hasty with the separation. Richard agrees and says that if he wants things to move forward he needs her to apologize. He says he knows that doesn’t come easy for her, but to him he can’t move forward with her without it. I loved their exchange. “Richard I am sorry, but-” “Apologies don’t have the word ‘but’ after them.” Talk that truth Richard! Talk that truth!
I’d really like it if we got more of an explanation of Catherine’s actions. They still haven’t explained why she didn’t stand up for Richard or didn’t apologize afterward or try to fix it. Back at the hospice Daniel and Levi lovingly prepare Saul’s body in accordance with the Jewish tradition. It’s very moving. I loved Daniel’s line, “Your generation takes for granted what is possible.” It’s heartbreaking but also true. There’s some really wonderful commentary here about how far social attitudes and legal rights have come for gay people in the U.S. and elsewhere in the last few decades. Like many things we, the younger generations, often take hard won victories and certain possibilities for granted. This scene made cry because as Daniel says the fact that our generation can even do that for a second is reason to hope for a better tomorrow. The acting was very well done.
Back at dinner Maggie and Jackson are arguing about his yacht when Richard gets a text that he’s very happy about. Catherine goes off because she thinks he’s talking to his girlfriend. He’s not. It turns out the text is from Alex. Richard has been talking to him about making Maggie an offer to run their Cardio Department and he’s approved it. Judging from this information and other info we’ve received Alex is still living in Seattle, still running Pac North, still married to Jo, and still spending time with Meredith.
So does this mean their new plan is to off screen his character? Justin Chambers has moved on but the character of Alex will continue to exist off screen? Not sure how I feel about this yet. On the one hand I don’t want them to kill him off on the other I hate not seeing him and want him to get a proper send off. But this also leaves it open for him to come back on screen in the series finale which I would love. It’s clear to me that they had a storyline planned out for Alex’s character and Pac North prior to this. Obviously since the actor had moved on they are having to scrap and rework that plan. I’m sad we’ll never see the intended version.
But at the same I also respect that an actor has the right to move on when they’re ready to do so especially after 15 years. It sucks for the character but it’s good for Justin Chambers so it’s a toss up as a fan. Also why is Catherine outraged? Koracick said he’d think about it when Maggie talked to him. You snooze you lose pal. Also why is Jackson such a patronizing entitled asshat these days? What’s up with that?
Things finally come to a head at dinner and Catherine and Richard finally announce that they are separating. Poor Dean. He gets invited to what he thinks is a party and instead winds up at someone’s break up dinner. Fun! Catherine and Richard both leave the table and Jackson and Maggie follow them out. I’ll give Jackson one thing: he’s a wonderful and loving son. He’s there comforting his mom when Vic comes to drop off some plates. Catherine finally warms to her and offers her some cobbler. It’s a very sweet moment.
Meanwhile Maggie and Richard talk outside. They have a heart to heart and then Maggie asks about the job offer. It’s a lot of money. She’s surprised Alex thinks she’s worth that much. Richard says he thinks so too. She accepts! It seems to me that the original storyline would have seen Maggie, Richard, Owen, and Alex working together at Pac North. But since Justin Chambers has moved on it looks like that will be happening off screen now.
As everyone prepares to leave Vic and Maggie talk it out and clear the air. I’m glad they did. They’re issue is with Jackson not with each other. We cut to Levi and Nico. They’re back at home packing up his things. His mom comes downstairs. Levi explains that Uncle Saul is gone and that he’s moving out. Levi gives this great speech to his mom about how he’s super gay and that his mom saying she accepts him but not telling anyone isn’t really acceptance and he can’t do this anymore. Because Levi’s made a decision. He doesn’t want to wait until he’s old and dying to be free. He wants to be free and live openly now as a gay man and be happy. Levi’s mom thinks Nico put him up to this but as Levi explains he loves her but he has to do this.
I’m so proud of Levi! Standing up to family is hard especially when you love them but you have to do it. Back at the house Catherine and Richard argue. Richard asks if Catherine was hoping he’d fail when he took the job at Pac North. She says she hoped he’d come to his senses and asks if Maggie turned down his absurd offer. Why does Catherine think the offer is absurd? It’s more than Grey Sloan was paying her clearly and they indicated they weren’t interested. Why wouldn’t she take it?
Richard has had enough. He calls Catherine out on her need to control everything and that the success of Pac North is because of him and that she had nothing to do with it and it’s killing her. I’m glad Richard is finally calling Catherine out on her need to control everything. It really is absurd. In response Catherine calls someone named Harry and asks them to find out how much it would cost to buy Pac North. Seriously? This woman would rather buy a struggling hospital than apologize to her husband?
I saw the Catherine Fox Foundation buying Pac North as a likely resolution to the storyline but I pictured in a more positive way. This is just mean and spiteful. I figured Alex and Richard would turn Pac North around, make it a great hospital, and bring it up to Grey Sloan’s level. At which point Catherine and the other doctors would see the value in it and offer to make Pac North part of the Foundation. That way everyone would keep their jobs but we would see the doctors go back and forth. However, that plan obviously involves Alex being on screen as he’s the Chief. I’m wondering if Justin’s departure caused them to have to rewrite this storyline in a more negative way or if that was the plan all along.
It’s impossible to say and we’ll never know for sure, but one thing that is evident to me is that the writers and showrunners didn’t think Justin would be leaving this season or this soon in the season. If they had known they would have written this storyline differently. That being said everyone has a right to move on when they’re ready to do so and it’s up to the writers to make it work now that the actor has moved on.
Also did this woman just threaten to shut down an entire hospital that employs hundreds of people just to spite her husband for succeeding without her? WTF?!?! Where would those people go? Where would their patients go? Mercy West Medical Centre and Seattle Grace Hospital merged years ago, Dillard Medical Centre was shut down for obvious reasons, and the show has established that both Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital and Seattle Presbyterian Hospital run at capacity patient wise. Where would they go?
I feel like Catherine’s line at the end about not being sorry was supposed to be empowering but to me it just felt cold, selfish, and cruel. Richard didn’t do anything to her. Richard stood up and stood alongside Meredith who he loves like a daughter and instead of trying to understand that Catherine is acting like he betrayed her. Next week’s promo seems to be more Station 19 oriented and doesn’t really tell us much so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
Until next time!

~Mr Azira Phale, Angel~
It struck me during the church scene that perhaps the Germans were calling him Mr. Fell because they thought Phale was his last name. So, I took a closer look at the two halves that made the whole.
Tumblr media
~Azira
...Arabic in origin, it means A Rising Star. Interestingly, Pre-Islamic Arabia practiced Vedic religion, and in Vedic Astrology, Azira is a common name for babies born within Krittika Nakshatra, the older name of the Pleides Constellation.
Krittika..."literally means a "sharp flame" or "sword of fire." Alternatively, the word "Krittika" may be derived from the Sanskrit root krit, which means "to twist threads" or "to wind as a snake." This clearly is related to the symbology of the Caduceus and the May Pole. The root 'krit' also means "to separate, cut asunder, or divide." This secondary meaning refers to the division of souls into two groups that occurs on the Day of Illumination. The subtle energy associated with the Pleiades constellation is considered a Sword of Fire because it cuts asunder or separates knowledge from ignorance. It separates light from darkness."
Tumblr media
~Phale
The name is actually of what is known as Pictish-Scottish origin. "The Picts were a confederation of Celtic language speaking peoples who lived in what is today eastern and northern Scotland during the Late British Iron Age and Early Medieval periods. Where they lived and what their culture was like can be inferred from early medieval texts and Pictish stones. Their Latin name, Picti, appears in written records from Late Antiquity to the 10th century."
"This interesting surname is of Scottish and Irish origin, and it is an Anglicized form of the Scottish Gaelic "MacPhail", and the Irish Gaelic "MacPhoil", both patronymics from the Gaelic forms of the given name Paul, derived from the Latin "Paulus, meaning "small", and is has always been popular in Christendom."
Now of special note is Paul, the Saint, originally Saul of Tarsus, considered by many to be the actual founder of early Christianity, who very much believed in Angels, spoke of them appearing to him, and who at first, was bent on persecuting Jesus, only to become an Apostle after he appeared to him in the famous story of his travels on the road To Damascus. I came across an eye-opening article, theorizing that not only were Paul's writings edited and twisted, making him a patriarchal misogynist, but that he in fact believed in equality, was hugely inspired by Plato, and may very well have been Gay.
From: The (Possibly) Gay, Elite Apostle Who Believed in Radical Equality for All by Jay Parini
"I tend to agree with Bishop John Shelby Spong, a brilliant theologian and church leader, who argues that Paul was “a rigidly controlled gay male,” as he writes in Rescuing the Bible from Fundamentalism (1991). Be this as it may, Paul was clearly at war with his own body, tormented by the idea if not the reality of sexual desire, and eager to withdraw into the company of his male companions:  Luke, Timothy, Silas, and others. His conflicted feelings about his own sexual nature may account for the “thorn in his flesh” that he wrote about in his second letter to the church at Corinth. (2 Corinthians 12:7-9)"
Tumblr media
Galatians 3:28: “In Christ there is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free man, neither male nor female. In Christ, all of these are one.” ~Saint Paul~
Saint Paul was later decapitated by Nero! Oh, and one last thing...
Azira is actually a girl's name.
Tumblr media
BUT WAIT...THERE'S MORE.
Tumblr media
For those who have looked closer, you may have discovered that Petronius worked for Nero.
Petronius was chief advisor to Nero and helped with the planning of all debauchery, orgies, feasts and crimes. He was known as Arbiter of Taste.
And Petronius wrote the infamous Satyricon.
Influence Of The Satyricon Upon The Literature Of The World.
"...It is to the author's recognition of the importance of environment, of the vital role of inanimate surroundings as a means for bringing out character and imbuing his episodes and the actions of his characters with an air of reality and with those impulses and actions which are common to human experience, that his influence is due...This class of literature, though modified essentially from age to age, in keeping with the dictates of moral purity or bigotry, innocent or otherwise, has come to be the very stuff of which literary success in fiction is made. One may write a successful book without a thread of romance; one cannot write a successful romance without some knowledge of realism; the more intimate the knowledge the better the book.."
"Petronius writes cynically and satirically about Roman decadence, about a society that’s corrupt and materialistic. Paul, to a certain extent, is writing about the same thing. He is certainly not humorous most of the time; he’s expressing his straightforward outrage about what he is seeing around him."
Petronius, set up for a treason charge by a rival, was threatened with death but chose to take his own life in quite a dramatic fashion, which is described in the notes to Satyricon. He died a year before Paul.
*Satyricon is compared often in style to Au Rebours by Joris-Karl Huysmans, and one translation published in Paris,1902 has been attributed to Sebastian Melmoth aka Oscar Wilde.
Tumblr media
Now, was St. Paul an influence in any way on Shakespeare? The Bard of course wrote about Religion and Politics in his plays but due to his enormous influence, St. Paul managed to touch Shakespeare's place in a much different way. This has led to the discovery of a place I had never heard of from this time period...and a new head canon.
During Shakespeare’s lifetime, the area around old St Paul’s Cathedral was a hive of activity and industry...the main gathering place for acquiring (and spreading) news and gossip, purchasing the latest fashions and commodities, and, of course, for being seen. Under its Nave, as known as Paul's Walk, while the people who went there and into the churchyard were known as Paul's Walkers.
Complaint of Thomas Dekker in 1608:
‘What swearing is there; yea, what swaggering, what facing and out-facing? What shuffling, what shouldering, what jostling, what jeering, what biting of thumbs to beget quarrels, what holding up of fingers to remember drunken meetings, what braving with feathers, what bearding with mustachios, what casting open of cloaks to publish new clothes.’
Tumblr media
Indeed, with its dozens of booksellers, Paul’s Churchyard was the centre of the London book trade, and was popular throughout the entire country.
"Booksellers on Paternoster Row became a source of competition in the latter half of the century, eventually winning the prominent position in London bookselling, but Paul’s maintained its supremacy well into the seventeenth century."  This link has a beautiful rendering that can be expanded to show the individual publishers."
I imagine Aziraphale would have spent hours here, likely with Crowley beside him, eagerly pouring over the thousands of books available, excitedly meeting other writers, getting lost among a mixture of saints and sinners, just enjoying humanity. And I head canon that THIS is what gave Aziraphale his idea to open a bookshop.
What kept bringing me back to St. Paul?
Tumblr media
It's imposing presence caught my eye during the WW2 sequence. Turns out, it was bombed during the last days of December 1940, but survived due to the hard work of British firefighters.
Tumblr media
“There are a lot of secrets in the design—a lot of buried subliminal stuff,” he reveals, noting that he hopes an eagle-eyed fan will find all the Easter eggs in Good Omens." Michael Ralph, Production designer, who also says that he based Azira's bookshop on the design of a compass.
Purposeful or no, using St. Paul as a guide through Good Omens has been a fun history lesson.

Jumping on the "Queer is/is not a slur" conversation simply to share my experience and put it out there, I welcome discussion but I'm not here specifically to start arguments, just adding my own POV to the pile and hoping it resonates with someone. I'm not an old queer. I'm only 25 but have been involved in Queer circles since I was about 11, I've seen so much in those few years.
I was 14 in 2010. I was identifying as gender[queer] and genderfluid. I proudly had the genderqueer flag on my wall when it was thrust onto the internet a year or so later. (It was a tiny cut out but it was a big deal to young me). 2010 and before I knew people identifying as queer and genderqueer. I shifted away from genderfluid/queer around 2013 (I'm going to make another post about my gender journey). Growing up I was okay with it, but eventually grew uncomfortable with queer and didn't want to be called queer. This was somewhere around, I don't know, 2014? (I'm mentally ill and ADHD, time is fake). I had absolutely zero issues using community terms. I had queer friends and I said they were queer. No issues across the board, I was validating.
I just had issues with others me calling me queer. I also had a few queer friends who didn't hesitate to say "Saul is queer." even when I asked them not to call me queer. (One instance was in late 2019 to give a timeline) and it made me uncomfortable, and I do think that's valid to this day. No one should be pointing to you and using labels you aren't comfortable with regardless. I think that was part of what made it so hard for me to become comfortable with queer. Was people not hesitating to say at almost every turn. "Yes, Saul is queer.", "Well, you're queer so you get it.", and other variations calling me queer either to my fact or other ways when explicitly asked not to be called that.
Around last year (2020) I became way more comfortable with Queer because I had some really in depth conversations in a safe space with a few queer people own experiences with the word queer. As of Nov 2021, I actively and unapologetically call myself queer and aroqueer. The former actually told me that she wasn't even aware that queers were calling people queer to their face because she was neck deep in people saying it's a slur and should be banned. They thought that genuinely wasn't an issue and she thought there was just push back against queer as a blanket term, we both learned a lot from each other. Queer is a word that has roots. It's had a place in our community long before a lot of these kids yelling about it were even born. I feel like I can't stress that enough. A lot of the people being indoctrinated into believing that other people identifying as queer hurts them weren't even alive when I was identifying as genderqueer and that's terrifying. There are people spoon feeding these kids that don't know better incorrect information about our history. Demanding we completely rid our spaces of the word queer is to actively ignore our history and do a disservice to everyone, especially young people. I've made posts about this before but my first priority in the community has always been our youth. I am visible for people who don't know who they are yet or are afraid that they're too different to see me and know there are other people who look like them. When we lose words, we lose history, we learn nothing and we destroy and harm. This queer discourse hurts everyone and demanding we scrub words from our history and our terminology is violence. It's also worth noting that I was born in 1996 and I grew up in a pretty decent sized suburb not far from Boystown. I grew up when gay was a dirty word. Gay was a filthy word that got kids corrected by their parents for using. You're so gay./those shoes are gay anything you even remotely didn't like was gay. I remember in middle school they allowed us to read books that were dated enough to hold the word in historical contexts and unrelated to sexuality.
The boys in my school(and the ones I knew outside of it) gripped onto that for dear life, they knew it was a dirty word and they thought they were being so clever when they'd call each other gay and cry "It's in the book! It means happy! I wasn't insulting them!" when they were corrected but they were. They were throwing around slurs and I don't remember people thinking we should change what we called ourselves because of that. So what makes queer different? What makes queer so wrong when we've been using it for decades if not longer? Also, regardless queer people are here now. That matters.

Acceptance?
Tumblr media
I grew up in a Southern Baptist home, where it was laboriously taught that being gay was the wrong choice and for having made such a choice, in the end hell would be their resting place. I didn’t come out to my adopted mom until I was 19; I fathomed she’d gossip amongst the rest of the family and I’d allow them to feel however they did. I’m bisexual and my preference is perceived as something I needed to decide, as if I couldn’t be both. A message a lot of the world at the time agreed with. As they still may, I have never seen sexuality as a choice rather a feeling. Attraction is one of the most powerful feelings in this universe. It has the biggest pull to any and all things, including sexuality.
Most my life, I had tried to express my willingness and desire to explore my sexuality to boyfriends. My first encounter is one I will save for a later day and a heavier topic, but for now I will explain I knew I had these urges since I was in my teens. Around fifteen years old is when I decided to be a bit more lenient with myself when the topic arose. I would only discuss this when I felt it was a safe place to divulge into these “fantasies”. The females I spoke with were intrigued and some came on strong afterwards: a turn off for me. However, the intensity of watching their inner fire ignite made me feel a level of passion I didn’t know existed. Males would respond in a variety of ways. Most were turned on and went straight to the over used three-some discussion while others had gotten insecure or infuriated by the thought of having to worry about me with my closest friends.
I have an ex who we will call “Peter” whom, at the time; I felt was the love of my life. I told Peter I’d be interested in having a threesome someday and his response ripped all confidence I had out of my being. He tore into me verbally and unexpectedly. Exclaiming he should be enough for me and that if I couldn’t take him as he was then we were threw. I was stunned and coward from my statement. We never talked about it again.
After that fling failed I met someone else called “Jamal”. Jamal helped me come to terms with my sexuality early in our relationship. I tried to shrug my desires and urges off as just sexual promiscuity but he welcomed me to accept what was. Whether it was for personal gain or not is a question only time could tell but it never seemed it was. This was helpful in regaining confidence of my sexuality. Eventually, towards the end of our relationship Jamal let me explore the appetite I had for my sex. Risky business when you’ve spent 2 years in an unhappy relationship. Nonetheless, he seemed unmoved which in turn gave me the fearlessness to figure out exactly what it was I liked.
Come to find out my preference is similar to that of my choice in men. It all boils down to the mind, heart, and soul you place in front of me. Sure, physically, they needed to be aesthetically pleasing but there was no shape or mold of that criterion. They just needed to have a heart ready and willing to help, a soul that seemed to seek godly tendencies, and a mind able to converse a multitude of thoughts and dimensions. Throughout my years of exploration and discovery I encountered hurtful and understanding people. Met some of the most freethinking women and my confidence has soared through my experiences. The downfall will forever be the amount of hatred others have towards someone else’s happiness. In one of my last relationships with a man I received a bombshell of a lifetime.
There is no other name I could choose to call him other than “Samael”. According to Jewish text Samael is the chief seducer, accuser, and destroyer. This Prince of Darkness is both kind and cruel and was once a heavenly host. His influence reamed to the infernal realm as well. To say this depiction describes him well would be an understatement. Samael is a man I met while in college. He was 7 years older than me; I had admired him from afar for a short time prior to introducing myself. We eventually had a class together and our relationship blossomed from there. Blossomed is a word I’d use but we didn’t necessarily grow together.  Our relationship began heavily involved in sex. We would be entangled for hours and hours for days on end. It was fun and there was no real pressure only sheer infatuation with one another and what we could give. He knew I was bisexual; we’d explore pornography and fantasize all the crazy hypersexual things we’d do if we had an extra partner. I felt like I had finally found someone willing to accept me for all my deepest sexual desires. I was on cloud 9 for a while. He had made it clear he didn’t want anyone to know about us. For a man who had claimed, “he didn’t want to play games” I was a bit confused. I agreed to the terms cause I didn’t want to stop what we had. We wound up having a threesome with one of his friends. He made me feel like the more important one of the two. She was upset the next day and he snapped on her for taking a blunt roach. Claiming it was equivalent to stealing and wound up not talking to her for a few months. This was the first opportunity I had to take a glimpse at his dark side.
I found Samael was pretty closed off when it came to how he felt and what he was thinking. This was new to me. I had opened up to him as typical life struggles crossed my path. My past is filled with wicked endeavors and crimes caused by family. He seemed somewhat emotionless to the stories I told but apologized for their wrong doings. Eventually something changed between Samael and I; he became a selfish lover and a greedy one. He used me as I never had been used before. I’d wake up and he’d be between my legs already. He would beg and beg and use his charm to get anything he wanted. I had my boundaries but he would still take anything he could get. One night our sex life took a huge turn. We had been out one evening barhopping around town, neither of us were drunk but once we got to his house things got a bit kinky. He tied my hands behind my back and had me submit to him. Not long into this escapade I felt discomfort from how my hands were tied underneath me and then SLAP it felt as if the hand of God had reigned down on my face. In shock I asked him to stop. SLAP Another powerful blow against my face… tears welling up in my eyes I asked him to stop. SLAAAP On the last blow, with a cracked voice and broken heart: I exclaimed I hated him. He stopped. I was untied and crawled into a corner of the bed and went to sleep. The next day I had a bruise on my face that I tried to cover up with makeup. I explained to him how wrong it was and how hurt it made me feel. He apologized repeatedly and blamed it on us being tipsy, however I never felt that we were that far gone. He consoled me the best he could but I realized that night that he was a sadist. I had a really hard time after that. I told no one… I feared what every woman fears. Telling a friend while staying with the abuser could not be a good concoction for my self-esteem or any relationship I was trying to have. In all my adult relationships I had never been subject to this scenario. So I kept quiet to others and continued to mildly persecute him. He eventually became so defensive I stopped talking about it all together. Months went by and the distance between us grew stronger. The resentment I had towards him from that night stayed alive. I broke off the torture sometime in August and stayed away out of utter disgust for who I realized he was. Yet another man I was willing to give my heart and all to and put up with and in return I received absolutely nothing besides an attack and verbal persecution about who I was.
During our time apart I tried to heal and hold myself in a higher place. I chose to heal from all the misery life had handed me and learn to love myself. A path that seems like a cliché and most that pursue this avenue find themselves successful. The path to self-love however is not as simple as it seems. I found a man who treated me better than anyone I had ever been with but we were not compatible and I fell back to Samael. This time I decided I was only in it for the satisfying sex. There was no love here. Nothing had changed within him or me but I knew what I wanted sexually and knew he could provide. I had been more adventurous in my own sex life since I left him, such as visiting swing clubs and embracing my lesbian side there. I was typically the youngest of the crowd at these clubs and I enjoyed watching all the excitement of the crowd having this spunky woman their. I’d approach the most attractive woman in the room and proposition her for a good time. Typically she followed me and I’d have my way with her. It was a truly freeing, erotic experience. There are two of these clubs in the city I live in, Samael acted hurt by the thought of me going there without him. He had never made a plan of action to do so so I shrugged off his feelings. I had never seen Samael act as he was towards me. I’d almost interpret it as clingy. He wanted me, finally, and as tempting as it was I knew I didn’t want him. He could never provide for me emotionally what I craved. On the night of February 18th, he requested we go to these clubs. I excitedly agreed. The first club we went to was quite boring and I wanted more. We met another couple here who talked about the other club as I knew it. We decided to go. I told him I had more encounters at this next club and I’d probably run into a girl I’d been with before. He seemed to be okay with this. Heading upstairs in the club just that happened. I ran into “Amanda” and introduced everyone. Amanda had a husband she was always with named “Saul” but I’d never done anything with him. Most people at these clubs can and will get the enjoyment of simple girl on girl action. I wanted her that night and as a respect I asked Samael if I could have her. He denied me what I wanted. Confused and buzzed I kept on moving. The club closed and we went back to his place. Hiroshima hit; Samael was enraged by my actions at the club and accused me of having sex with a multitude of different people. I was confused and unmoved by his anger. He said Saul’s name was Danny and I corrected him and that’s when he struck. Samaul began to beat me with a rage I never knew he had. I looked into his eyes as I lie on the floor and couldn’t even recognize who he was anymore. Loathing myself for going back to him in the first place. I couldn’t blame myself for what was going on though cause I was the same as I had always been. What happened to him? What made him snap? How could he aquire such a hatred for my actions when he had sneakily done the same thing behind my back our whole relationship? I may never be able to understand what happened that night but I do know I will never let another man take me for a ride like that in a relationship.
I tell you these experiences so that maybe one day, if you are encountered with similar scenarios you will not put yourself in harms way. The emotional and mental toll of battling with a person who cannot accept you wholly as you are is not worth it. If you have to prove something, or even change anything about yourself in the slightest say no thank you and walk away. I thought I knew my worth. I thought I would be able to outsmart my abuser, but in the end I was on a winding road of a sadist narcissist’s mind. Sometimes you don’t understand the game you’re playing and many times it’s much more dangerous than you think.

What I Watched in 2016
Here are the movies and TV series I watched in 2016, some with commentary and some without. The number after the movies is the date of release, my faves are bolded, and rewatches are marked with as asterisk. Last year’s list!
01 Do I Sound Gay (14)
02 We are The Best! (13)
03 Hateful Eight (15)
04 Welcome to Me (14)
05 For Your Eyes Only (81) - I listened to a lot of back episodes of the James Bonding podcast early this year, which of course led to watching a bunch of Bond movies. Not all, and not in order, certainly.
06 She’s the One (96)
07 * Diamonds are Forever (71)
08 It’s Complicated (09) - I think it was an article about the kitchen design in this movie that led me to watch it?
09 The Natural (84)
10 * Anna Karenina (12) - Never having read the book I can’t REALLY speak to this movie but haha I kinda love its commitment to artifice.
11 About Time (13)
12 What We Do in the Shadows (14) - I did enjoy this, but wasn’t as taken by it as I thought I might be. Found the werewolves the funniest by far, so I wish they’d turned up more often.
13 The Abominable Bride (15) - counting this as a movie, it was the Sherlock xmas special and I recall exactly zero about it, so…..must have been amazing, right?
14 Wake in Fright (71) - Never Go To Australia
15 Hail Caesar (16) - I think I’d have to see it again to determine if the whole thing actually holds together, but at the time, it felt of a piece with the Coen’s cheerier output.
16 In the Heart of the Sea (15)
17 The Night of the Comet (84)
18 Laggies (14)
19 * Bowling for Columbine (02)
20 A Gentleman’s Agreement (47) - confessional, experiential journalism, but done by Cary Grant in the 40s. Ahead of his time/gender?
21 Barefoot in the Park (67)
22 Suddenly Last Summer (59)
23 Tangerine (15)
24 * His Girl Friday (40)
25 That Touch of Mink (62)
26 * Charlie’s Angels (00)
27 9-5 (80) - Holy shit, somehow I thought this movie was just a rah-rah, girl power story about a bunch of secretaries getting together and overthrowing their boss and yeah, that’s SORT OF it but it gets way way weirder in the final third.
28 * Who Framed Roger Rabbit (88)
29 * The Addams Family (91)
30 * Addams Family Values (93)
31 Frida (02)
32 Bridge of Spies (15) - A E I O U and sometimes SPIES :O
33 Swimming With Sharks (94)
34 Sleeping With the Enemy (91)
35 Fatal Attraction (87) - Watched this movie and the previous one as part of an 80s/90s thriller weekend. These two are an interesting contrast to one another, being as the first is about an abusive husband and the second focuses on the most notable example of the “crazy ex-girlfriend”.
36 1 Cloverfield Lane (16)
37 The Man Who Never Was (56)
38 * To Die For (95) - This was a super fave of Teen Emily, who definitely identified with the Lydia character. Watching this time was a huge reminder than Illeana Douglas is a goddamn national treasure.
39 Trouble In Paradise (32)
40 Eraser (96)
41 * Flashdance (83)
42 * Notting Hill (99)
43 Gone to Earth (50) - Not the best Powell and Pressburger out there, but one takes what one can get, right?
44 Holiday Camp (47)
45 Never Sleep Again (10) - This is a four-hour doc about the entire Nightmare on Elm St series, and is the reason I watched Freddy’s Revenge a couple of movies down the list. It’s not a series that I have a particular attachment to, so I learned a ton.
46 Clouds of Sils Maria (15)
47 Mommie Dearest (81) - I’m not sure that I have enough appreciation for high camp to really get into this. There were some moments, but overall it’s a fine example of the kind of thing that is Not For Me.
48 Nightmare on Elm St: Freddy’s Revenge (85)
49 Inside Man (06)
50 Trainwreck (15)
51 White God (14)
52 * Sleepwalk With Me (12)
53 Amy (15)
54 * Meatballs (79)
55 Everybody Wants Some!! (16) - I found this a huge disappointment, and I’ve been a bit mystified by its positive reviews and inclusion on critics’ end of year lists. While D&C definitely has a “main character”, and we do follow him and his friends, other people and subsets of the high school are given serious time and consideration. Ultimately, I don’t think following this one dude tripping through a bunch of different college subsets was as illuminating. Plus, weak jokes.
56 * Dazed & Confused (93) - had to cleanse the mind-palate by watching the original!
57 Summertime (55)
58 The Money Pit (86)
59 Zombeavers (14)
60 Mistress America (15) - I am finding Greta Gerwig more and more charming, the more I see of her. Greta, let’s be friends!
61 While We’re Young (14)
62 The Invitation (16) - quite effective, very upper-middle-class bohemian LA horror film. I’ve heard some complaints about the final scene, but I thought it was an effective & clever way to show an expanding scope without an extra expense or sets.
63 End of Days (99)
64 Escape From New York (81)
65 Escape from L.A. (96) - Watched these two together, on the same night. They definitely should NOT be watched that way, given how identical the plots are. Unbelievably terrible ’96-era CGI in the second one, hard to believe that Jurassic Park was three years previous?? Gotta get that Spielberg money, am I right?
66 High Rise (16) - my only real disappointment in this movie was not being around to see the decline of the civilization - we jump straight from things being fine (if weird) and everything gone to heck. My favourite part is the decline, give me decline!
67 The Great Outdoors (88)
68 * Catch Me If You Can (02)
69 Little Darlings (80) - just your classic losing-virginity-at-camp story, but…wait for it….with GIRLS.
70 * Good Will Hunting (97)
71 Popstar (16) - diminishing returns, but some funny bits (mostly in the songs, not surprisingly).
72 Tarzan (16) - watched this with friends and relatives, at a drive-in theatre a couple of days after my wedding! It’s NOT a good movie, but it was a fun time.
73 Love & Friendship (16) - got completely obsessed with Tom Bennett based on his 100% rate of scene-stealing in this film. Sevigny feels utterly out of place - am I capable of seeing her in a period piece set before, say, 1975 without feeling weird about it?
74 The Night Before (15)
75 Ghostbusters (16) - So I know I was supposed to be charmed by Kate McKinnon, but her schtick just doesn’t work on me, for whatever reason. I was also really frustrated by the final fight scene of this movie - it had obviously been hacked up in editing, and wtf is up with punching ghosts instead of containing them? I’m glad this movie happened, and certainly a great deal of the criticism it came in for was deeply unfair, but it was distinctly disappointing to find that this movie just wasn’t that great.
76 Brooklyn (15)
77 Poltergeist (82)
78 * Before Sunrise (95)
79 Love & Basketball (00) - Effusive praise for this movie somehow came to my attention from all over the place this year, so I finally had to watch it.
80 The Man Who Knew Too Much (56)
81 * Road House (89)
82 Carol (15) - watching this FINALLY allowed me to fully participate in Today’s Meme Culture
83 * Out of Sight (98)
84 Happy Texas (99)
85 Red Rock West (93)
86 Weiner Dog (15)
87 The Trouble With Harry (55)
88 * When Harry Met Sally (89)
89 Jungle Fever (91)
90 Ocean’s 11 (01)
91 Star Trek Beyond (16)
92 Two For the Road (67)
93 * Seven Year Itch (55)
94 Maggie’s Plan (15) - like I said earlier about Greta Gerwig? I liked this one even more than Mistress.
95 The Dish (00)
96 Splash (84)
97 Desk Set (57) - watching this and the next were inspired by stumbling across a blog about depictions of librarians on film. I particularly hit on this one because I’ve always wanted to see a Hepburne/Tracy film, and never had (to my memory, anyhow).
98 Party Girl (95) - one of those movies I’d always noticed on the shelves at the video store, and never actually watched it.
99 * Young Frankenstein (74) - saw this in the theatre, Gene Wilder notwithstanding I…..don’t think it’s good. It’s only extremely intermittently funny, you guys! Plus, the Putting’ on the Ritz bit makes me uncomfortable (especially in audio-only form, which I heard TOO many times after Wilder died).
100 The House of the Devil (09)
101* The Witches of Eastwick (87)
102 The Borning (81)
103 * Shaun of the Dead (04)
104 Dolores Claiborne (95)
105 The Conjuring 2 (13)
106 In a Valley of Violence (16) - definitely watched this because I happened across an article about the movie’s dog star.
107 The Witch (16) - very effective in getting across the supernatural, natural, and social dangers of early puritan America, and Black Philip has entered my idiolect for any creepy animal/person/twitter feed.
108 * Wayne’s World (92)
109 What if (13) - riffs on When Harry Met Sally’s fundamental question of women and men being friends, and basically comes to the same conclusion. yawn.
110 The Martian (15) - I read the book as part of a book club last year, and finally got around to watching the film. Since I found the worst of the writing in the book to be those passages dealing with description, the movie was a lot less annoying to experience.
111 Sleepless in Seattle (93)
112 * Thelma & Louise (91)
113 Casino (95)
114 Other People (16) - wept several times. GOSH I love Jesse Plemons, he’s so hugely sympathetic. Would watch in virtually anything.
115 The Life & Death of Colonel Blimp (43)
116 Primary Colors (98)
117 Edge of Seventeen (16)
118 *Die Hard (88) - loaded up the laptop with this and the next four xmas-set movies, for watching on planes and in airports, while we were on the road at christmastime.
119 *Batman Returns (92)
120 *Scrooged (88)
121 * The Apartment (60)
Theatre - 5
Drive-in - 1
All the rest at home or at friends’ homes!
TV SERIES
*The Office US S2-3
War & Peace (2016) - you bet your BOOTS I started the book after watching this. Did I finish it? Not even close.
Love (2016)
Better Call Saul S2 - this is a show I enjoy while I’m watching it, but I don’t particularly find it memorable. Why? Who knows. It’s still something I look forward to, but not a show that sticks with me.
Great British Bake off *S1, *S2, S7 + Xmas Specials - a eulogy for Bake-Off as it was. Pour one (pint of double cream, that is) out for what once was.
Broad City S5
Travel Man S1, S2 - I find Richard Ayoade so desperately charming, but ever time I’ve watched one of the movies he’s directed, I’ve ended up disappointed. This show is a bit hit or miss, depending on the guests he brings along, and the episodes definitely have a sameness to them, but if you find this guy even a sliver as entertaining as I do, it’ll pull you along anyhow.
The Night Manager - so looking forward to Hugh Laurie’s upcoming career phase as Bond Villain.
Cooked
Newsradio S1-S3 - I’d seen an episode or two of this over the years but never sat down to fully appreciate it. It’s making me miss Phil Hartman all over again, a fresh devastation, plus haha did u know Tone Loc plays a security guard on this show? It’s all true.
Lady Dynamite
OJ Made In America - I’ll count this as a series, since I didn’t watch it in the theatre. Still haven’t seen the other big OJ series of 2016, but I loved loved LOVED this. What impressed me the most is that, in spite of its 7 hour+ running time there were still aspects of this story that could have been expanded upon.
Silicon Valley S3
* Veep S1, S2
Catastrophe S2
Pulling - went back in time to get more Sharon Horgan in my life, since Catastrophe seasons are terribly short and far-between. I’d been aware of this show for a long time, and somehow wasn’t expecting it to be as near-devastating as it ended up being. What, did I forget what a British show was like?
Another Period S2
Difficult People S1, S2 - Another late discovery, but a great one. A fine example of just giving some funny people a show, and letting them just do their thing on it every week.
Fleabag - yes, I’m in for this, obviously. And if I wasn’t, the show designed itself to put me off, from the first moments. A wise move!
One Mississippi
Very British Problems S1, S2
Atlanta - I’ve got a bad feeling that this show’s deserved success will lead to surreal elements being deployed, but much less deftly than they were here.
Please Like Me S1-S4 - Tore through this entire series greedily, am now suffering until they make another season. Balances some very harrowing elements with comedy and an ensemble cast of loveable/terrible humans.
Divorce - Sharon Horgan’s writing minus her acting is a hollow empty shell, but hey, I’ll take what I can get, when I can get it.
The Fall S3 - I’d decided last year after S2 that I was done with this show, and yet, here we are, I was drawn back in.

W.I. Whiting, Hardscrabble: or, Ballad of the Free Lunch Bar, 1891
“This world is like a crowded car;   Some favored few, perhaps, Can get a seat, but most of us   Must hang on by the straps.” — Manhattan Idylls.
We may live without poetry, music, and art, We may live without conscience, and live without heart, We may live without friends, we may live without books, But civilized man cannot live without cooks! — Lucile.
Give ear to my story, for now do I find   A saying of Sancho’s in memory’s keeping: “May blessings attend him, the best of mankind,   Who was first the inventor of sleeping.”
Tho’ my saying, like Sancho’s, may never endure,   Yet in loud, thankful strains I will sing it afar; Every blessing be his — he deserves them, I’m sure —   The saint who invented the free lunching bar.
When the glory of earth’s great inventions grow dim,   To the weary and worn it will shine a fixed star, This genuine blessing that cometh from him —   The saint who invented the free lunching bar.
O Holy St. Peter! when this life-saving mortal,   Or sooner or later, leave this world of sin, And seeks for admission at thy sacred portal,   Suspend all your questions and pass him straight in.
When everything’s “busted” on which we have “banked,”   And to our own down-sinking there cometh no rally, When our “ready” hath been by the pool sellers “yanked,”   Who nightly do business in Beelzebub alley.
When “bucking de tiger” with clock automatic,   Whose fast-holding hands scarcely err in their mission, Our ventures are “knocked” by its movements erratic.   If “puts,” “calls,” or “straddles” straight away to perdition.
When “long” of the market, if slaughtering bruin   Doth level our castle with speedy disaster, If “short,” when the bovine doth show by our ruin   No sweat pity lives with the merciless master.
When those who loud boasted of friendship’s strong tie,   Declaring our welfare was big at their heart, But who only had on our pocket an eye,   And played in their dealings a shysterer’s part.
When the specie, it once was our pleasure to share,   Like friends in rejoicing, has wandered afar, When smote by the cyclone of want, and despair,   How sweet to our vision the free lunching bar.
When pursued by that vixen, a stranger to pity,   Whose only delight is to torture and tear, An oasis remains in the big bustling city.   It blooms, where a free lunch the stranded may share.
When struck with religion, the truant wife goes   To howl hallelujah at camp of salvation, The breadwinner wanders where garish light throws   A glory around this bright spot of creation.
The knife that hath pierced the strong breath of the eaters,   When tramps in their greed drove it in to the handle, The food where have circuss’d the flies and mosquitoes,   Looks tempting when viewed o’er by gaslight or candle.
Ye writers of fiction, why journey afar   To people your pages in distant locality? Like sere leaves of autumn, here characters are,   In motley profusion, and somber reality.
When “pulpit drum” beating, the preacher no more   Exhorts fallen man to forsake his wild ways, When loose from the moorings that held him of yore,   To the sweet saving grace of a free lunch he strays.
When the doctor hath seen all his patients laid low,   Who his medicine took as the label directed, Ten to one you will find him augmenting the “show”   Where the “lay out” of poultry is quickly dissected.
When lawyers no more are expounding the laws,   Some bogus to assist, others guarding from harm, Nor judges “stand in” with a fraudulent cause,   “As aforesaid” goose-picking to them hath a dream.
He hath shone as a star and won plaudits from all;   He is now a “back number,” alas! the dark day! No more head and shoulders above like King Saul!   Here, star, stock, and audience all equal can play.
Let poets wax warm as thy sing of the glory   That classical Greece in her infancy knew; But search all the pages of Homer’s great story,   And not a free lunch bar doth is to our view.
When from the Imperial her eagles did soar,   With the swiftness of lightning, the strength of the gale, Search the eloquent pages of Gibbon all o’er,   No free lunch is there to adorn the great tale.
With Virgil, and Dante, seek Pluto’s domain;   What horrors they picture, what wonders they tell! Admit it you must when you view earth again;   In the way of free lunches Chicago beats h—ll.
Go read with attention his wonderful pages,   Who Hamlet created, Macbeth, and Iago; The peer of all poets, the king of all sages,   But Falstaff ne’er knew the free lunch of Chicago.
When that sturdy sea captain, brave Christopher, came   And the veil drew aside that concealed half the world, Deep writing on History’s page his great name,   And the cross-bearing standard in triumph unfurled.
To that power low-bending whose strong arm defended,   Through days of long watching and peril’s dark night, But with addd fervor his thanks had ascended.   Had the “spread” of our day cheered the wanderer’s sight.
Talk of sentences silver, and words that are golden,   They all have some dross, here and those purest gold When spoken to on who hath scarcely beholden   A good square meal lately, “fall to,” or “lay hold.”
The silver-tongued orator charming mankind,   Ne’er made a more eloquent speech, tho’ ’tis brief, Than when the bartender asks, are you inclined   For more chicken salad, boned turkey, and beef?
Demosthenes, Cicero, Sheridan, Burke,   In that world-renowned trial where spell bound all sat; Lord Chatham, great Webster in his grandest work,   Are all idle ravings when measured with that.
When the swift wheel of time finds the race-runner stranded,   For fortune not always on turf-banners perch, But if in his fall at a free lunch is landed,   Tho’ left in the “soup” h’s not left in the lurch.
Whatever goes up is as sure to come down —   A saw, politicians find out to be true; And those who have ruled o’er the country or town   “Thank the Lord” for free lunches, when ballots are few.
When Wall Street no more is a wellspring of “boodle,”   Gay brokers who erst washed their dinners with punches, When each lamb is sheared, and there comes no new noodle,   Inspired by schooners now joy in free lunches.
When the jury and court both sustain the fraud deal   Of shystering brokers’ bas, bogus transaction, And scoop, sweat-stained specie to square the sure steal,   The lunch bar then blooms with an added attraction.
When society’s darling — but some might think dude   Would fit that rare specimen very much better, But here I would mention nor wish to be rude —   They both are evolved from identical letter.
So be it, but where he no more leads the mazy,   When favors are often nonsensical trash, And the season has made him for cash almost crazy,   Hocks his dress suit with “Huncle” and comes here for hash.
Of all sights that show to the dude’s vacant stare,   When his chronic shortness of rhino appeals The brightest, when he doth perambulate where   Aloft in their glory flame forth the three balls.
When his back load of gold has been all dumped in ‘Frisco,   On wining and dining, and all pleasure there; When on chasing and racing his last dollars risk O,   Not forgetting the summer, nor midwinter fair.
When the “lay out” at “Grand” fills the miner no more,   No more their gold toothpicks all proudly doth flourish, Ere trudging again to the “diggings” of yore,   For the long tramp his system at free lunch doth nourish.
How suave is the manner, how smooth is the such,   Of the bubble promoter, he’s here without doubt; Unchecked by refusal, he’ll stick like a leech,   If you have the “yellow” and he finds it out.
With millions in sight for himself and all those   Who invest in his fancies, but yet, Oh, but yet, When naught but the briars are left of the row,   The floater’s fair form is found filling this set.
Behold the inventor! whose anticipation   Shows horses, and houses, and treasures so vast, When time, the accoucheur, brings a still-born creation,   Like all patent failures he comes here at last.
Far and wide o’er the world it had been his to roam,   All sciences knew, and all tongues and all people; Ring the bell when you would the sage always was home —   His classic attainments rose high like the steeple.
“Au fait” in all customs that govern each “lay out”   At home and abroad, and with lore and sincerity The same could unfold; but this game can “play out”   With swiftness amazing, and wondrous dexterity.
When forth from God’s country the Canuck doth roam,   Allured by big dollars that fancy doth show — But finds not the three meals that cheered him at home,   The lunch bar abridges his measure of woe.
When the old homestead kitchen no more glads the eye,   Nor the deep-laden table can bring a relief; When thoughts of the past start the tear or the sigh     Here is found by the exile a “joy in his grief.”
How often the dailies, our pleasure and pride,   The world’s great promotes of knowledge and right, Would fail in their good — as the universe wide —   Did the free lunch no more glad the editor’s sight.
The joy of the poet, ah! little we think!   As we read and yawn over his freshly ground numbers, How oft he was rescued when nearing the brink   From sinking untimely to silence and slumbers.
The “bust” banker’s stay, he who knew not denial   Ere her shadows black fortune did over him fling; The tramp’s sweet Elysium in his dark day of trial,   And hence all this folly I gratefully sing.
And let fate do her worst, she can ne’er “knock us out,”   While the lunch bar is blooming with cold cut and splendor; The saint knows it well, who goes homeless about,   And the sinner who’s ben on a jolly old “bender.”
Ho! tramps of Chicago, of every degree,   Each one without money, and some without worth, Let big thanks go upward, all fervent and free,   For “striking” the greatest food center on earth.
In song let it rise, ye conglomerate sinners,   For music, says musical Moore ne’er betrays; And when in sad wanderings we come short of dinners,   Remember the free lunch will cheer our dark days.
[Footnote: Thus that delightful Irishman, that sweet singer of the Emerald Isle, Tom Moore:
“Music! oh, how faint, how weak,   Language fades before thy spell! Why should feeling ever speak,   When thou canst breathe her soul so well? Friendship’s balmy words may feign,   Love’s are e’en more false than they; Oh! ’tis only music’s strain   Can sweetly soothe, and not betray.” ]

Radical Roots- The National Uprising & Chaos in America
The roots of what we at American Lens are calling The National Uprising began almost a decade ago with a meeting of the Democracy Alliance (DA) in December 2007.
The Democracy Alliance is an elite club of the wealthiest and most progressive philanthropists across the nation. They had the money, but they needed ground teams to  get organized. They needed to recruit an army of volunteers to carry the message.
After 3 years of planning, organizing, and training  The first test cases targeted Wall street and the bailout of wealthy bankers that got sweetheart deals at the taxpayer expense.
It began with a scream of,  “MIC CHECK!”
In September of 2011, protesters calling themselves Occupy Wall Street (OWS) descended on Zuccotti Park in New York City. What looked like a spontaneous movement was anything but. Funded and organized by groups tied to George Soros and national labor unions, the OWS movement consisted of a coordinated effort by radical activists, democratic operatives and bare-knuckled union enforcers, and socialists seeking a political revolution.

The early talking points of the protesters were said to be about exposing “social and economic inequality worldwide.”
However, those early positions quickly dissolved into a laundry list of social justice gripes and far Left agenda items from ultra feminists railing against the patriarchy to gay rights to hapless college students wanting someone to pay for their college debt.
As publicity waned in the early days, violent anarchists joined the group using tactics known as ‘Black Bloc.’ The anarchists made sure the news would cover them with their outrageous destruction and scare tactics.
Property damage in ‘Occupied’ cities quickly rose into the millions. Public parks and facilities became unusable. The trash piled up, violent rapes were perpetrated, disease outbreaks became more frequent in the camps, riots occurred daily, Molotov cocktails were used and property destruction became the hallmark of the movement wherever they went.
The OWS playbook was ripped straight from the pages of East German anarchists of the 1970’s and Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals of the 1960’s. The goal was to create a false narrative for the media to carry across the globe about American injustice, inequality, and to rage against capitalism. As the movement unfolded it was praised by national progressive political figures and the media, many of which turned a blind eye the violence and destruction.

Democratic politicians, including President Obama, legitimized the efforts stating that OWS, “expresses the frustrations the American people” and that “the protesters are giving voice to a more broad-based frustration about how our financial system works.”
Nancy Pelosi also embraced OWS. At the time Pelosi was the Speaker of the House and praised them.  “God bless them, for their spontaneity. It’s independent … it’s young, it’s spontaneous, and it’s focused.” Pelosi said. “And it’s going to be effective. The message of the protesters is a message for the establishment everyplace. No longer will the recklessness of some on Wall Street cause massive joblessness on Main Street.”
The chaos wrought by OWS was a prelude. A test case. An incubator for future chaos. What started with Occupy has splintered into a thousand variations that now march under their own banners. They got organized, identified new sympathetic people as they set out to recruit a new generation of disaffected  youth with an axe to grind.
The media was more than willing to continue the charade of a nation in turmoil. It painted the picture that America was in decline because of segregation of economic classes, races, and religion. However, that’s a feature, not a bug. The National Uprising to follow would rely entirely on this foundation.
That splintering arguably helped give rise to a new movement, Black Lives Matter. It is this splintering that we at American Lens are referring to when we use the term ‘The National Uprising’.
The National Uprising – Built on Social Justice
OWS, with its never-ending list of complaints, also gave birth to the modern Social Justice Warrior (SJW). The SJW plays a key part in The National Uprising. The SJW isn’t the 60’s hippie upset at the war in Vietnam or the government, this is a new breed of far-Left radicals who live and die by the motto, ‘by any means necessary.’
But just what is Social Justice and what is a Social Justice Warrior?
Portrait of Thomas Paine, US Revolutionary War Hero
The origins of the term Social Justice trace back in part to the Catholic church in the early mid 1800’s. Its meaning there was a new virtue as the world emerged out agrarian society. Going even further back, circa 1795-96, Thomas Paine’s final pamphlet, Agrarian Justice, could be viewed as laying the foundation.
Paine opined that there are two types of property, natural and artificial.  Paine writes that equality of property is impossible, as equal contribution to such a thing just doesn’t happen.
“Liberty and Property are words expressing all those of our possessions which are not of an intellectual nature. There are two kinds of property. Firstly, natural property, or that which comes to us from the Creator of the universe–such as the earth, air, water. Secondly, artificial or acquired property—the invention of men. In the latter, equality is impossible; for to distribute it equally it would be necessary that all should have contributed in the same proportion, which can never be the case; and this being the case, every individual would hold on to his own property, as his right share. Equality of natural property is the subject of this little essay. Every individual in the world is born therein with legitimate claims on a certain kind of property, or its equivalent.”
SJW’s have latched on to the idea in that very last sentence. They have managed to pervert it, apply to anything they can think of and it has thus been further co-opted over the years by progressive and radical activists.
The new Social Justice is akin to saying that all things belonging to the collective and should be distributed evenly and equitably. In other words, for an SJW, ‘what’s yours is mine’ regardless of circumstance. The Socialistic flavor is undeniable. Make no mistake, there are those who truly believe in this new definition, however there are many others simply using it as a political tool.
The Social Justice movements of today seek the systematic destruction of societal, religious and cultural norms. This is done for ‘the common good’ and fairness. The stated goal is that everyone will be free to live productive lives and be equal – at least in theory. They have delusions of recreating a ‘Lord of the Flies’ society.
The huge flaw in that theory is that in every society people are not equal, but unique. Someone will always be richer, smarter, better looking, faster or stronger. When this reality intervenes, SJW’s descend on anyone who stands out with a solid round of shaming, name calling and various methods of silencing opposition.
A prime real world example of these SJW tactics and a key piece in the National Uprising is what unfolded in the Fall of 2015 at the University of Missouri, or as it is nicknamed, ‘Mizzou’.
In September of 2015, a student led group calling themselves Concerned Student 1950 launched a series of protests which included a hunger strike and the boycotting of the school’s football games.
Concerned Student 1950’s reasons for these protests included the charge that there was rampant bigotry and anti-gay sentiment on campus. These claims were paired with a comment made on Facebook by the Mizzou student government President, Payton Head, who made unsubstantiated accusations regarding a random passing car’s occupants yelling racial slurs at him.
Head wrote in that post that, “For those of you who wonder why I’m always talking about the importance of inclusion and respect, it’s because I’ve experienced moments like this multiple times at THIS university, making me not feel included here.”
What ensued after the first Mizzou protests was nothing short of a full-blown SJW temper tantrum, led by a member of the faculty identified as Melissa Click. Demands for segregated spaces for blacks only and the establishment of other such ‘no go’ areas for media had arisen. These segregated areas would later become widely known as “safe spaces”.
This video screen capture of Melissa Click epitomizes the indignant disdain for a citizen exercising first amendment rights in a public space.
At the height of this lunacy, Click entered into a confrontation with a freelance photographer over the safe space zone and First Amendment rights. The altercation became physical and was recorded by a student named Mark Schierbecker.
During the altercation recorded by Schierbecker, Click points her finger at the camera, yelling, “you need to get out” and “I need some muscle over here”. Watch Click in action for yourself.
This moment by Click was a classic SJW attempt to shut down opposition. Versions of this tactic can be seen in SJW’s shouting down politicians at political rallies and at speaking engagements like that of Breitbart editor and gay activist, Milo Yiannopolous.

The manipulation of a targeted forum, event, or space is a key component for SJW’s and a key element in the National Uprising.  The Social Justice Warriors take over and drown-out their targets and often uses ‘shaming chants’. This tactic, wherein the target shouted at, taunted and called various names, has been employed at protests like that of the North Carolina born Moral Monday and that of Black Lives Matter.
The purpose of The National Uprising is to use chaos to disrupt the cornerstones of a functioning society (Rule of Law, Freedom of Speech, Individual Rights) which all become impediments to the needs of the collective. Their methods and tactics are focused on silencing all opposition through intimidation, name calling, shaming, labeling someone as racist and/or un-American, frivolous litigation and economic extortion. The end game is control of the majority by a vocal, well-funded and radical minority with a thirst for power.
Follow American Lens as we continue to navigate the safe spaces, focus on the subversive actors the media ignores, and direct the foundations of these organizations. Welcome to The National Uprising.
