la vita di Bombolo solo tardi si è incrociata con il cinema. E allora le strade di Trastevere, le ristrettezze che precedono, attraversano e seguono la seconda guerra mondiale. Franco con suo fratello Renato che cercano nel Rione Ponte, tutte le strade possibili per arrangiarsi, che aiutano la famiglia a tirare avanti ai tempi della borsa nera. E sembra, ancora, di vederlo, Bombolo, mentre parte per l’anno da militare a Pisa, felice perché alla fine potrà mangiare con regolarità. E si sorride in modo amaro quando si legge del suo primo ritorno a Roma, il padre che vende i suoi anfibi da soldato per poter comprare un po’ di cibo al resto della famiglia. Poi il lavoro come ambulante e l’incontro con Regina, sua moglie. La vita gli cambia da Picchiottino, una trattoria di Trastevere. E’ l’estate del 1975, Bombolo ha già 44 anni. Francesco Pingitore e Mario Castellucci lo guardano e gli lasciano un bigliettino. Viene arruolato subito, stavolta tra i ranghi del battaglione della settima arte. “Era un miracolo artistico”, ricorda Pingitore. “E durante le riprese del film, non smise mica di fare l’ambulante: vendeva piatti a tutti quelli che gli capitavano a tiro”. E dopo il cinema, il teatro, l’ingresso al Bagaglino. Senza mai andarsene di testa, senza mai perdere il senso della realtà. Have you ever heard of the podcast ‘Class A Felons, B-Films, C-Cups’ @classafelons_bfilms_ccups by Paris Brown ?

I highly recommend to listen to the first episode of the second season “Stranger than Fiction” called “Sylvia Plath: The Oven Suicides, Part 1” (part 2 deals with Assia Wevill and I also recommend that one!), especially today, one day before the anniversary of Sylvia Plath’s death on 11 February 1963.

This is a very informative, detailed and well-researched podcast that used actual books (e.g. A Lover of Unreason: The Life and Tragic Death of Assia Wevill (2006) by Yehuda Koren and Eilat Negev, The Silent Woman: Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes (1994) by Janet Malcolm, Her Husband: Hughes and Plath—A Marriage (2003) by Diane Middlebrook, Sylvia Plath: A Biography (1987) by Linda Wagner-Martin or Pain, Parties, Work: Sylvia Plath in New York, Summer 1953 (2013) by Elizabeth Winder), essays (e.g. from The Plath Profiles) and newspaper/magazine articles (e.g. from The Boston Daily Globe, The New York Times or Vanity Fair) as its sources.

I couldn’t find any wrong information in it! ;)
