𝗕𝗘𝗦𝗧   𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘: sooo i am going to take this spot to give a huge shout out to blix @concupitor. i have known them for pretty the entire time i've been on this website. they've made a lot of my past experiences so enjoyable, and i always love throwing ideas at them. they make it very easy to be super chill, and relaxed in and out of roleplay. and honestly i'd do just about anything for them. blix is the bee's knees, and every experience i've had with them is precious to me.

𝗥𝗣   𝗣𝗘𝗧   𝗣𝗘𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗦: I really hate it when people make assumptions. There is this stigma I've seen, where people assume dropping threads, not replying to certain asks, or taking too long to reply-- means there's no interest. You know what fixes that? Communication. Talking. Sometimes the muse just isn't there, you can try again later. IDK. Like I will sit on asks, and replies for WEEKS-- but it doesn't mean I don't want to interact!! If I didn't want to, I wouldn't bother following!!

𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗚   𝗢𝗥   𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗥𝗧   𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗦:      it REALLY depends on my energy at the given moment and how long the prompt i'm replying to is. my own rule of thumb is that i try to do 1-2 paras minimum but if my energy is low or i just can't come up with more then it's usually less. though if i receive long replies i'm more inclined to also have a higher word count as it gives me more to work with even when i don't have a lot of energy. tl;dr it realls just depends on my mood :')

Author’s notes: Most of the relevant Buddhist concepts are explained over the��course of the story, though of course I’ve taken some creative liberties.

Tusita (“Contented”) is one of several heavenly realms in traditional Buddhist cosmology. All bodhisattvas come here before the rebirth in which they finally become a buddha. According to the Pali Canon, a single day in Tusita is approximately 400 years.

Devas are gods/demigods who dwell in various heavenly realms. Some assist bodhisattvas and buddhas.

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva (Sanskrit), also known as Dizang Pusa (Chinese) and Jizo Bosatsu or Ojizosama (Japanese), is a beloved figure in Mahayana Buddhism. Considered protector of women, children, and travelers, he first appears in the Ksitigarbha (“Earth Matrix”) Sutra. It relates the story of a maiden who, while rescuing her mother from hell, is moved by the suffering of the beings she witnesses and makes a Great Vow to save all of them. Through numerous rebirths, she eventually becomes Ksitigarbha. Unlike most bodhisattvas traditionally depicted in the fashion of Indian royalty, Ksitigarbha usually appears as a monk.

Bian (“Other Shore”) refers to the passage to enlightenment. Bianhua (“Flower of the Other Shore”) is the Chinese name for the red spider lily. The Japanese equivalents are higan and higanbana.

Children’s Limbo is where the souls of children who have died before their parents end up. One legend about Ksitigarbha is that he wanders this place, protecting the children from demons by hiding them in the sleeves of his robes.

A number of Buddhist philosophies indicate that the difference between realms, existences, and states of being are also a result of ignorance. Nothing exists independent of anything else, so the perception that they are distinct is merely another illusion and barrier to enlightenment.

Most people refer to Sun Wukong's shape-changing ability as the "72 transformations" or the "72 heavenly transformations", but the magic technique has an actual name. It is called the "Multitude of the Earthly Fiends" (Disha shu, 地煞數). The Earthly Fiends refer to 72 stars associated in Chinese astrology and geomancy with evil influences. These stars, along with a set of opposing 36 stars of good omens, are reborn as 108 heroes in the Chinese classic Water Margin (Shuihu zhuan, 水滸傳, c. 1400). The stars are so closely tied to the Water Margin that the novel may have influenced the name of Monkey's technique.

It’s interesting that Sun Wukong chooses the transformation method centered around stars of evil influence and later becomes a demon who challenges heaven. Good fodder for fan fiction, no?

Beyond the technique names, Sun's ability is based on transformations (bianhua, 變化) from Daoist writings. Practitioners are said to gain the ability via the ingestion of drugs and talismans or through mental exercises. Once successful, practitioners can transform into anything, including the 5 elements, dragons, clouds, rays of light, or even celestial bodies like the sun and moon.

Analysis out today shows oil and gas interests were also busy online. Climate Action Against Disinformation (CAAD) – the coalition behind the second “Deny, Deceive, Delay” report – has documented how PR companies, front groups and oil majors were actively spreading disinformation in the weeks leading up to and during the summit.

Researchers with the coalition’s COP27 Intelligence Unit identified over 3,700 ads sharing false claims on Facebook and Instagram, platforms owned by Meta.
